Vehicle was stopped in left turn lane when impacted head on by smaller car oncoming traffic. Vehicle was knocked back approximately 40 feet and 16 feet side ways. Neither airbag deployed or seat belt locked to prevent driver from impacting steering wheel and dash board, resulting in face ,chest, arm, and leg injuries.

My anti lock keep kicking in, the panhead by gas tank is completely shot and there is a box by the gas tank for emissions and not able to get 1 and the frame in the front is shot also along with the body that's completely shot and the gas gauge keeps telling empty 1 time and then it goes to full to empty even after i fill it up...

As far as i know the truck went around corner and veered off the road in to a snow bankdue to black ice and into a tree onpassengersideoftruck .itwas a hard hit and the air bags did not work .wheni get the accident report i will put exact speed.

First thing was that my gas gauge started to fluctuate.up until the point that i didn't know how much fuel i had in my tank.then my instrument clusterstarted to go.it started to fluctuate then dies from time to time.rpm's , speed, gas, oil press, park, neutral, reverse, drive, 1,2,3, and miles driven cannot see anymore.everything died the first time when i was driving home from work in the middle of the night on a dark road.called dealer and dealer said it will cost me almost $600, which is ridiculous considering the fact that i just paid off the vehicle.i know that this is a repetitive problem withgm vehicles and am still wondering why gm won,t recognize it except only for '03 and '04 model trucks with under 70,000 miles. I bet you if people knew that one day their cluster would die under 7 years they would rather place their investment in a vehicle elsewhere.if i was stationed stateside when this problem started 2 1/2 years ago; i would have had the dealer take care of it. //signed//concerned owner.

The vehicle had an electrical short which caused the door ajar alarm to sound and the dashboard gauges to malfunction.

It started with the fuel gauge fluctuating between full and empty with a full tank of gas and the abs and brake light on dash lighting up for apparently no reason. Then it started giving me trouble starting and making a weird whining noise. I checked all the fluid levels and fuses, everything was ok.i was at the camp(middle of nowhere) at night when i noticed that there were sparks comingfrom around the area of the starter when my husband tried to start it.(it just happened to be dark and i was sitting with a view of the right wheel well) i checked the wires and found what might have been a break in the insulation, taped it and the sparks quit. Had no choice but to drive it home the next day as there was no phone service. Started right up , and drove fine, except for thelow whinny noise that no one could pinpoint. I was almost home when the transmission started to slip. I brought it to our mechanic who replaced the transmission but none of us can figure out what the devil is causing the electrical problems. Before the transmission went out the tow/ haul button didn't do any thing, now the light actually comes on-when it feels like it,but i can't get it to go off. The gas gauge is still acting nuts and the abs and brake light still come and go. Please post instructions for troubleshooting this thing!

I just want to let you know about a little problem i'm having with my 2001 gmc 4x4 truck. There are two certain grocery stores i go to and when i start my truck back at these stores the gas gauge goes to empty and the gas pedal locks up and can not be pushed down.then i have to turn off the engine , then when i get the gas pedal freed then start the truck back the gas pedal is ok.i'm thinking my truck's computer is getting confused with some kind of micro waves or something coming from the stores electrical devices. I'm wondering if anyone else has these problems.

I bought a gmc sierra c-1500 pickup truck, new in 2001. In sept '05, the abs light came on & a humming noise could be heard even after the ignition was turned off.the odometer was at 50,000 miles, at that time. The problem was the ebcm shorted-out and needed to be replaced.now, 31,000 miles & 3 years later (81,000 total miles), it shorted-out again & needed to be replaced.the cost of this part alone is $1,000.00 (+ over $200.00 installation). That part isn't even subjected to normal 'wear & tear' like brakes, because it's not a moving part.it's a computer module that controls the anti-lock brakes, that is vital in case of emergency braking, which luckily i haven't needed to use.i don't know if the ebcm (part) is defective itself or if something else is causing it to short out, but i don't think this part should fail, this often. Requiring a third ebcm in 7 years, in my opinion, is unacceptable.i've contacted gmc & i don't think i received a legitimate reason for the failure of the part'just a poor excuse.his reasoning was that my vehicle is 7 years old & has 81,000 miles, that it's acceptable for a computer module, which controls the anti-lock brakes (a safety issue), to malfunction & need replacing twice. That 'reason' was totally absurd in my opinion. Mileage shouldn't come into play because it's an electronic part not a moving part.if they want to justify it because the truck is 7 years old'.it was the part that failed, not the truck & it was only 3 years old and only 31,000 miles had been added, when it shorted-out again!so, they shouldn't even be talking about the vehicle itself'just the faulty part which happens to control a very important safety feature!

My abs control module is not functioning properly. Abs is disabled and costs $1000 to replace. This is a safety hazard as the brakes can lock up at any moment or abs is disabled and may cause brakes to lock up. The abs light on dashboard is on continuously and the module will need to be replaced or further damage will occur.

While driving i tilted my steering wheel and the headlights stopped working. I found that as i moved the wheel up and down there was a spot at which the lights would stop working.after going to the dealership i they found that a wire in the junction block of the multifunction switch (blinker assembly) had shorted out causing the lights to go out. Dealership replaced the multifunction switch.

As far as i know the truck went around corner and veered off the road in to a snow bankdue to black ice and into a tree onpassengersideoftruck .itwas a hard hit and the air bags did not work .wheni get the accident report i will put exact speed.

Manifold bolt(s) broken. Heard it's a common thing. Really disappoints me about my trust in gm.

I have a 2001 gmc sierra 1500 that stalls on a constant basis while going a low speeds.this problem has been happening since i purchased the truck a few years ago but has gotten a lot worse recently.the truck stalls several times every day now while coming to a stop.i have to pull over to the side of the road and the truck will restart instantly until it stalls again at the next stop.i checked your web site and there are some recalls for crank sensors for gmc sierras, but not the 1500 model, which is what i have.my truck has the exact same problems described inthe crank sensor case.several times cars have been behind me while my truck stalled and this could have caused an accident.

Exhaust manifold bolt breakage,i'm writing in regards to my 2001 gmc sierra w/5.3 liter motor,i haverecently discovered a bolt broken off on my head that mounts my exhaust manifold is a defective or inferior product used by gmc this repair should not be necessary for any vehicle if the proper materials were used during original assembly of the vehicle by gmc or any other company in that regard, this repair is a very expensive according to my mechanic to the sum of $760+tax to repair and if it is not fixed it can lead to catalytic converter failure amongst other emission failures as well and possibly fire in the engine compartment as well due to excessive hot exhaust heat escaping from the broken bolt area into engine compartment,as for this complaint i have done some research on this matter and have found a large majority of other gmc owners with this same problem and are not very happy with gmc's inability to own up to responsibility as a manufacturer to fix this obvious and expensive defect due to inferior or improper material used on these vehicles,so any help with this matter would be greatly appreciated by all gmc owners affected by this consistent problem..

I own a 2001 gmc sierra 1500. I have always taken exceptional care of my vehicle. The motor has always had a knock when you start it,which devalues the truck & it also has always used oil. The rack & pinion has started leaking. I have always owned a truck & have never had a rack & pinion go out let alone at 152000 miles.it also is losing antifreeze but there are no leaks. The fuel gauge has never worked properly, now its also flashes low coolant light when its not low. I have seen numerous complaints on line concerning these same issues & lawsuits. I do not feel the consumer should be having to foot these bills. I have called gm about my concerns & they say there is nothing they can do. What can we do to get a recall for all these problems. My truck is one of the ones that have dex-cool antifreeze.

Two things started to happen 1. The truck when coming to a stop of a speed of less then 25 mph started to lose its brakes and feel spongy. This continued until i got it in the shop which was about two days.2. The truck started to run very rough and the engine light was coming on at the same time as well.after i got it in the shop and they got it up on a lift they found that all of the brake lines and fuel lines were all most rusted through and starting to leak. They had to replace all of the brake lines, fuel lines and since they had the fuel tank down they replaced the fuel pump because they found rust and dirt in the old pump. The shop mechanic said the lines were ready to fail at any moment. The chevy dealer i bought the truck off of just four months early had just inspected it and had seen the rusted lines and even repaired a piece of one of the fuel lines but left the rest go to fail down the road, they gave me little to no help. This is a huge problem, dangerous as well as very expensive one and needs looked into. Is there any help i can get for this problem??

Gas gauge goes to empty without warning, even after filling up the tank."low fuel" warning stays on when on empty, even when there's plenty of gas in the tank.this should not be happening, gmc should take care of there customers.this ismy second gmc truck, and i bought this onebecause of the quality my 1st truck was good. My wife wants me to buy a toyota next time, that's all she ever owned. Gmc take care of this problem, or i'll won't be coming back for a 3rd.

Gas fuel gauge-: gauge registers empty when tank is full.refuellight comes on & stays on.gauge bounces back & forth & is hard to tell how much fuel is actually in the tank.have to watch odometer to figure out when to fill tank up with gas.on -going problem!!!!!

The contact owns a 2001 gmc sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving 20 mph, he applied the brakes and the pedal depressed to the floor. The vehicle coasted to a stop. The contact examined the master cylinder and noticed that all the brake fluid leaked from the vehicle. The contact also noticed that the brake lines were fractured. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic and was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and offered no assistance. In addition, the contact stated that he replaced the fuel lines and pumps in the past due to corrosion. The failure and current mileages were 150,000.

Gasoline sensor or computer indicator shows low fuel and gas gauge shows no fuel when engine cold and weather is cool or cold outside, regardless of the quantity of gas in the trucks tank (full, 1/2, 3/4, etc).this just recently happened and also four to six times last winter.

The contact owns a 2001 gmc sierra 1500.the contact stated that the fuel gauge would fluctuate frequently and register it as full and then empty.gmc stated that the vin was excluded from nhtsa campaign id number 06e043000.the only new equipment on the vehicle were the wheels, tires, and water pump.everything else was the original equipment.the vehicle has been to the dealer on one occasion.the failure mileage was 78,000 and current mileage was 158,000.updated 8/10/09

The contact owns a 2001 gmc sierra 1500. The contact was driving approximately 45 mph and noticed the fuel gauge indicator fluctuated erratically. The failure occurred at any speed the vehicle was being driven. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated the fuel pump would need to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The mechanic also expressed that the constant malfunction was a common issue with his vehicle. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 105,000.

The fuel gauge began jumping from full to empty regarless of the actual amount of fuel in the tank. I took gm's recommendation to put their fuel system cleaner into the gas tank to clean the contacts on the fuel sending unit. Approximately 6 months later, the catalytic converter plugged to the point that the vehicle would not run and it had to be replaced. Now told that only way to fix the fuel gauge is to pull the gas tank and replace the sending unit. Should be a recall for this faulty sending unit and the "quick fix" that many people probably try. Approximately $400 to fix sending unit because it's built into the gas tank, and approximately $1000 to replace the catalytic converter.

The contact owns a 2001 gmc sierra 1500. The contact stated that the fuel gauge malfunctioned and provided erroneous readings. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the sending unit inside of the fuel tank was defective and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 80,000 and the current mileage was 83,000.

Gas tank filler neck leaking fuel.

I fully suggest that you do an investigation on gmc/chevy pick-up trucks. I, along with thousands of others are experiencing fuel gauge problems. The fuel gauges are going out very quickly. They constantly show that you either have a full or an empty tank when neither may be the case. You never know how much gas is in the tank. It also makes the low fuel light stay on constantly. There is currently no recall on this. I find this hard to believe considering the hundreds of thousands of these vehicles on the road. There have been recalls on far less serious issues than this. The quotes from gmc to correct it is up to $500. This matter needs urgent attention.

Rusted out fuel lines. Had to replace all fuel lines.rusted out brake lines. Brakes gave out while driving. Luckly no accident. Had to replace all brake lines.

The abs and break system warning light has been coming on and staying on. I lost my breaks leaving a parking spot at my local walmart as i was pulling out of a parking spot! we then made appointment for the break system to be checked/repaired. The abs control system light went off for awhile but then comes back on even after the repair of said repair to break lines. My truck also has no fuel gauge that does not work. With these issues on my vehicle makes it very scary to drive and makes driving limited. I am not able to drive my truck long distances due to concerns of safety and possibly of abs warning light, break issues, and fuel gauge! i was driving my truck to pick one of my daughters up from school to lose power while pushing on gas then some jerking and a foul smell of rubber burning coming from the front right tire area. I then had someone look at the truck and was told that what ever it was happening that everything looked okay and it was possible just a break sticking. It has happened 3 different times. My truck still has approximately 98,000 or so miles on it. This truck also has bad corrosion on bottom baseboards of the truck. I saw below that i am asked for specific date of issues. I can not provide specific dates since there has been so many things wrong which has happened at different times.

The contact owns a 2001 gmc sierra 1500.the cable stop has fallen off the emergency brake release cable.the contact stated that he has been driving without an emergency brake ever since.the dealer stated that there were no recalls for this failure.the failure mileage was 33,000. Updated 06/03/10the consumer also stated the abs activated when it shouldn't have.updated 06/04/10.

Dt*: the contact stated while attempting to use the parking brake, the vehicle started rolling.the dealership determined the parking failed due to the friction material on the parking brake being worn away.the parking brake eroded the rotor to the point where the rotor needed to be replaced.there was a nhtsa recall, # 05v161000 regarding the parking brake . The vehicle was not included in the recall due to the vin.

Do not know if it was the front or rear brakes that were lost when driving.drove carefully to dealership and had a corroded brake line replaced that had a hole or holes in it.

Parking brake failed to hold vehicle. Ref: nhtsa campaign id number# 05v161000

Consumer states while parked on an incline, the parking brakes failed to hold, vehicle rolled forward, parking brakes shoes were worn excessively, metal to metal, causing damage to rotor.

Dt*: the contact stated when the gears were shifted into drive; the parking brake would not stop the vehicle from rolling forward.the manufacturer was notified and the contact was informed the vehicle was not included in a recall.

Dt:the caller stated the parking brake did not hold. There was a recall on the vehicle with a manual transmission, but not on the automatic transmission. Dealer said they would look at it, and they would change the parking brake with one that has been designed differently. Manufacturer has not been contacted yet. Caller indicated that the problem has been getting worse over the past three years. Inspector told caller he needed to get problem fixed or next year it will probably not pass inspection. Truck is a sierra c15.

My parking brake never worked.

Parking brake fails to hold vehicle from rolling.dealer stated parking brake pads were worn and damaged rear rotors of disk brake system.he stated that there was a recall for this problem but not for my vehicles vin.

Parking brake failure.

Premature brake failure due to rotors rusting, rear rotors rusted and wore pads out front brake pads worn out on inside only, parking brake worn out on drivers side inoperable on passenger side. All pads and rotors needed to be replaced, rotors too delaminated to turn, parking brake pads replaced too. All parts available. 800 dollars to repair.

Since the vehicle was new, the parking brake pedal has been soft (goes to the floor when pressed), and parking brakes have failed to hold vehicle on inclines of greater than 25 - 30 degrees.i have had the vehicle in the shop and have spent hundreds of dollars trying to fix with adjustment and new parts; all resulted in little or no success.one occasion the truck actually rolled down a hill with the parking brake set.fortunately, no damage or injuries.i don't trust the p-brake at all; i always chock the tires when parked on any incline.

Was about to go shopping for christmas gifts, stepped on brake at top of court and the peddle went to floor. Not just loss of hydros full on brake malfunction , no brakes at all. I live in new york and truck was purchased from connecticut. Decided to make left turn and missed getting hit by 18 wheeler by inches. I am lucky to be alive to be typing this now, no thanks to gm.no warning lights nothing at all just no brakes. To add emergency brake did not work.

The vehicle experienced rear axle problems.

The contact owns a 2001 gmc sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving 30 mph, the brakes failed. The contact stated that he had to depress the brake pedal to the floor in order to get the vehicle to slow down. Also, the contact mentioned that there was brake fluid leaking from underneath the vehicle. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The vehicle as not repaired.the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 120,000.

At low speeds when a person hit the brakes the abs engages and the vehicle will not stop.all equipment is original and is not due to recall regarding aftermarket equipment. Local garage says this is a problem with corroded speed senser.my problem is i almost ran through my house the first time this happened.another problem is the brake lines on these trucks corode and break without notice.this has nothing to do with previous paragraph as i replaced them and abs is still messed up. Chevrolets inferiour parts usage regarding brake lines cause them to burst prematurely.i also have several friends with identical trucks who all report the same problem. Both problems are ongoing problems.i fixed the brake lines but i had to remove the abs module to keep the abs from engaging and causing an accident.

Driving less than a half mile from home when i applied the brakes and experienced total failure without warning.upon inspection brake lines were rusted and one failed.as i was removing to replace all of them due to the rust conditions, several of them were brittle enough to break upon manipulation.

Takata recall abs & parking brake light coming on. Clean connections, lights went out. Went down the road about 3 miles, lights came back on. Sometimes starting up in the morning, lights will be off. Get down the road about 3 to 5 miles lights come back on. According to internet there is a bad soldering connection in the control module. Has this been a recall at any time. When lights come on, electric brakes to trailer are in optimal.

Moving the truck out of my driveway i experienced a soft brake pedal. Several minutes later total brake failure. Luckily i wasn't going very fast. Was able to stop and investigate why my brakes failed. All brake fluid was gone. Under the drivers side the brake line failed. Fluid was dripping from a rusted brake line.this truck was garaged when not used and has not been exposed to salty roads.i have been driving for nearly 60 years and never had a brake line failure. Gm should be held responsible for the poor design and repair. I see from the internet i am not the first to complain, i can't understand why the government hasn't forced gm into a recall for this serious safety problem.

Driving down the road in my 2001 gmc pickup when the line of vehicles in front of me started slowing down,i applied my brakes and the pedal went to the floor. I had to swerveto my left across traffic to avoid rear ending the vehicle in front of me. The momentum of the truck took me through a small parking lot and into a building . I do not have the vin as this happened about 3 ? years ago but i suspect it is available somewhere.

Sudden rupture of brake line due to heavy corrosion.rupture was evident along a seam in the brake line from the manufacturing process.rupture greatly reduced the braking capacity.rendered vehicle unsafe to drive.

After backing my truck into my driveway, i was reaching into the back seat while pressing on the brake pedal.all of a sudden my foot on the brake pedal went to the floor.upon investigating i found that i had a hole in my rear driver side brake line.it was completely rusted out.further investigating showed that all the brake lines are very rusty and in poor condition.i have repaired the ruptured line, but am fearful of another rupture.i believe that gm should be required to replace all the brake lines on this vehicle.why does gm not use high quality stainless steel brake lines for all vehicles?all vehicle makers should be required to use high quality stainless steel for brake lines and brake components susceptible to rust.

While driving in downtown city area, vehicle in motion, attempted to apply brakes and pedal went straight to floor almost causing an accident. There was no warning to loss of braking system. Vehicle was brought to residence and reviewed. Brake lines from master cylinder have suffered rust damage and caused a failure of the braking system.upon further review all brake lines on vehicle are exhibiting extreme corrosion to a system that should not be rusting.

Brake line corroded, causing loss of brake fluid, and subsequent brake warning light.driver rear brake line corroded with leak in 90 degree bend.2nd brake line later failed catastrophically, causing all loss of brake control and requiring replacement of all brake lines on vehicle.

Brake lines are so rusty they leak.

Was backing into my driveway and all of a sudden my brake pedal went to the floor and i could hear a noise like water running. I looked under my truck and saw a puddle of brake fluid on the ground. Turns out my brake line let go. I took it to a mechanic and all the brake lines were badly corroded and have to be replaced.i also tried to use my emergency brake and the brake cable snapped from also being corroded. I don't live near salt water or anything. I'm just glad this happened in my driveway and not at high speeds or it could have been a lot worse.

Was on my way home, when i went to turn left onto my road.my brake pedal went all the way to the floor.i had to accelerate across a main road because a vehicle came up over the hill at me and i could not stop the truck.i coasted down a hill until the truck stopped rolling. When it was towed to a service station the mechanic noted a rusted out hole in my brake line.this is the 2nd time this has happened.the last time was in 2013.yet the manufacturer does nothing to address this!!!!!!!

Rusted out fuel lines. Had to replace all fuel lines.rusted out brake lines. Brakes gave out while driving. Luckly no accident. Had to replace all brake lines.

Anti-locking brakes coming on when stopping. No regular brakes 100 feetpass stopon highway and once turning while parking space, hit a fence in front of me when brakes failed.

Brake lines rusted outunder drivers side cab.truck stuck in driveway. Lucky it did not happen on highwaywill cost almost as mush as truck is worth to have all new brake lines installed

Rear brake line burst and had no stopping power.had to roll to a stop.

Stepped on brake pedal to shift out of park into reverse, pedal went to floor got out and found brake fluid dripping from front left of truck under the drivers door on frame. Looked underneath and saw severely corroded brake lines on outside of frame, could not see leak as it was hidden on top of frame, brake lines too corroded to fix had to replace all. I am very grateful this happened in my driveway.

The brakes failed due to rusted out steel brake lines while driving.

While traveling at about 40 mph on flat paved road the brake warning light came on. When i tested the brake, the pedal went to the floor.the warning light went off then flashed back on.on the second or third pump the warning light did the same thing. At that time i had regained a very soft and little brake. Upon inspecting the brake system it was found that the brake line aft of the left front wheel, behind the inter-fender cover where it passes over the frame member had failed due to serious rusting and had burst.

Brake failure due to severely rusted brake line at driver side rear wheel.rust is severe on all surfaces underneath vehicle.will require complete replacement of all brake lines and other assorted brake components.abs was malfunctioning prior to brake line rupture, likely due to corrosion within wheel/hub assembly.this malfunction is known to gmc, and occurs by the abs erroneously sensing wheel stoppageat low speed, causing the system to activate and inability to stop.this has caused near misses in parking lot situations, thus the abs has necessarily been disabled until repair (pulling fuse).not the kind of issues a low mileage truck should be experiencing.

Applied brakes to stop at a traffic light and the brakes went to the floor, got vehicle to a parking lotto find all lines under the truck rusty, all lines including the fuel lines are gonna have to be replaced.

The contact owns a 2001 gmc sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving approximately 10 mph, the brake pedal had to be depressed repeatedly in order for the vehicle to come to a stop. The contact mentioned that upon stopping, the vehicle lunged forward. The failure occurred intermittently. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who replaced both front wheel abs sensors. The failure recurred and the vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 122,000.

I was going through an intersection at about 30 mph when my brakes completely failed.i applied my parking brake and swerved onto a nearby lawn just missing a car in front of me.i had my vehicle towed to a mechanic, who told me the brake lines were all rusted through andthere was no way they should have been this bad for a vehicle that was well-maintained.i subsequently investigated and found there have been numerous complaints about this problem.why has nothing been done? my wife, daughter and i could have been killed. Why should gmbe allowed to get away with this?

My wife applied brakes to stop at a red light and pedal went to floor with no warning light and with the grace of god it stopped before we were t-boned in busy intersection. Amazing that gm can put stainless steel exhaust which by the way is still on the truck but not the brake lines!!!!!!!

Lost all brakes on my 01' gmc sierra 1500 sle 4x4 while braking on an off ramp, pedal went all the way to the floor. Brake lines appear to be completely rusted out, which doesn't make sense when i have a 5 year older honda civic, with 110k more miles on it, and the brake likes do not look near as bad. Both spent their lives in minnesota / wisconsin. After doing some googling, it appears this is extremely common with 2000-2003 gm trucks. If this wasn't a manufacturing defect, wouldn't all uncoated brake lines rust out at similar rates, in the same conditions? mind boggling that gm is able to get away with not having to spend the cash to correct this problem. As if that money is worth more then the persons life.

Second brake like failure in as many years. Again, rusted at a bend just as the rear line turns down into the center hose going to the rear axle differential.luckily, i was just finishing pulling straight into a parking spot when it popped just as a i stopped. Fortunately, i was able to hit the parking brake so i didn't hit anything.

The contact owns a 2001 gmc sierra 1500.while driving approximately 5 mph in a residential driveway, the brake pedal was engaged when suddenly the pedal traveled to the floorboard abnormally. After several attempts the vehicle finally came to a stop. The contact noticed brake fluid leaking onto the ground. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the problem. There was an open and closed investigation pertaining to the sierra model under nhtsa action number: pe10010 (service brakes, hydraulic:power assist:hydraulic:hoses, lines/piping, and fittings). The vin was unavailable. The approximate failure mileage was 131,000.

The brake line that runs above the gas tank is leaking.i have no brake pressure.this has been a well documented general motors problem.

Main brakeline from master cylinder to rear differential rusted through and leaked resulting in a no brake situation.

Abs message light came on consistently and due to the safety issue explained by my mechanic shop, i had the wheel speed sensor changed and now about 6 months later the abs message light is now appearing in the message board again intermintently. I read where gmc started a recall on september 22,2005 for this same problem which called( gm recall # 05068) but only for "salt belt states" "service brakes, hydraulic:antilock".interestingly my state was left off of the list. I called gmc and they indicate there was no such recall and suggested i call nhtsa. I have now noticed that my brakes lock up and do not have the antilock system operating.

On 11-29-2014, while driving home with my 2 sons, attempting to slow down to turn into our neighborhood, the brake pedal went to the floor with no resistance. This is the second time i have had a brake line burst due to exterior corrosion (rust).the first time a brake line burst in this truck was approximately 1 1/2 years ago.at that time, while driving with my 2 young sons, approaching a stop light, the brake pedal went to the floor with no resistance and i was, fortunately, able to immediately turn right, into a parking lot.at that time, i reported the issue online at some website, but i cannot recall the name of the site. This time i came to this website. I now have to have the truck towed, and have to have all rigid oem brake lines replaced, right here before christmas. This most recent incident, the rupture came from outside the frame rail, under the driverside seat. All oem rigid brake lines are severely rusted. The problem in the past (the first incident) came from the last 3 inches of the brake line going to the left rear wheel before it attaches to the flexible hose. Note that this truck has never been in the mud or sand, nor has it put any boats into the water. Also, it has never pulled/towed another vehicle. I definitely would not pull anything in this model of gmc truck without replacing all oem rigid brake lines.

Brake line failure.i had complete brake line failure while coming to a stop at a busy road.i was lucky i was able to honk my horn and go through the light.i drive this truck almost every day and had this happened on my normal daily commute this could have been a disaster.it is ridiculous that stainless steel lines were not used on such a vital part of the vehicle.now i am looking at a lot of money to replace all the lines.i do not have a bill to upload at this time as the repair work has not been completed yet.

I was backing my boat into the water, stepped on brakes and pedal went to the floor.the brakes were gone. Quickly put in drive and four wheel drive and pulled up ramp(up hill ramp so brakes were not so important used emergency brake to stop).the complete system failed, there were no hydraulic brakes at all as all the lines corroded.

Brake line rusted into other lines are rusty also truck had been kept in garage forat least 6 years only drove on beach maybe 5 times always washed off afterwards.lines should have been s/s

The contact owns a 2001 gmc sierra 1500.the contact stated that the ecm in the vehicle emits invalid data into the system.as a result, miscommunication in the hydraulic unit occurs while applying hydraulic pressure to all four tires.nhtsa campaign id number 06e050000 (service brakes, air) was referenced.the failure mileage was 123,007.

2001 gmc sierra pick truc 1500- abs brake module has gone out two times now.

Brake failure (loss of braking power and pedal went to floor).caused by corroded steel brake line rupture.inspection of brake lines showed extensive heavy rust, especially along the frame members.

While bleeding the rear disk brake calipers in the driveway, the steel hydraulic tubing from the brake master cylinder to the rear brake calipers burst due to excessive rust. The result was a quick loss of hydraulic brake fluid. Had this happened on the highway, all braking would have been lost due to the fact that the hydraulic fluid reservoir is not divided into front/rear compartments. After the leak, the brake pedal went right to the floor.

Brake lines under driver's side door burst, spilling fluid in driveway while parking truck. Upon inspection, all brake lines have rusted/rotted. Truck is sitting in driveway, undriveable. Thank god it happened in driveway, not on hills we live on.used e-brake to stop.

We own a 2001 gmc sierra 1500 pickup truck with around 55k miles.last dec 2010 the brakes failed when applying pressure.we thought the problem was one of the rear calipers; however, upon further diagnosis, it was determined the brakes lines had rusted and subsequently burst/ruptured during a brake application.fortunately, the vehicle was close to home when the brakes failed and we managed to get our truck home without incident.we left our truck parked over the winter to deal with the issue when the weather would be more cooperative for having our vehicle towed to a repair shop. I contacted gm early march 2011 regarding our problem and gm said a gm authorized dealer had to diagnosis the problem.we had our pickup towed to a local gmc dealer and the dealer?s service dept charged us $98 to inspectour vehicle.the dealer reported back to gm that the corrosion was caused by lack of maintenance.the dealers estimate was $4,657 to replace the brake lines and perform other maintenance work caused by the lines rupturing.if the "ebcm for the anti-lock brakes did not have to be replaced, then the dealer?s estimated repair bill was reduced to $3,316.i informed gm that i've owned 10 or so vehicles in my lifetime and never had any brake lines corrode/rupture during a brake application nor did i have to have preventative maintenance performed on the brake lines to prevent them from corroding.other owners of gm pickups/suvs have also filed complaints on nhtsa?s website for this same brake line failure problem due to corrosion.a preliminary evaluation was opened by nhtsa to determine the frequency, scope and safety consequences of the alleged defect in gm pickups/suvs manufactured during 1999 to 2003.the investigation number is "pe 10-010" dated 30 march 2010. The subject is "brake line failure due to corrosion".this investigation was opened march 2010 and i cannot locate any updates on the nhtsa website.updated 05/19/11

I have a 200 gmc sierra and have found now that all the brake lines have rusted through, and the frame is so badly rusty it is not safe to drive. As i review the internet there are hundreds and hundreds of similar problems, many resulting in crashes. You must make gmc face up to this problem and get these dangerous vehicles off the road.

I own a 2001 gmc sierra 1500. On september 7 2010 i left my house to go to work, i stopped at the mail box at the end of driveway with my foot on the brake. After about 15 seconds the pedal went to the floor and the truck started to roll away. I backed up into my driveway and noticed brake fluid pouring out from under the truck. When i looked under the truck i noticed that all the brake lines were extremely corroded and one was leaking. I thank god i was not driving down the interstate when it happened. Scary unsafe!!!

While slowing down at my neighborhood elementary school i applied the brakes at the stop sign. The brake pedal began to pulse. I drove around the block to my house. Upon investigation, a 12" section of the inside of my left rear brake rotor broke off. When the rotor continued to turn, the remaining section of the brake rotor caught the caliper piston and sheared it off. Luckily, i was only driving at 18 mph. If i had been on the highway driving 55-65 mph, the loss of braking would have been catastrophic. The piece that broke off was covered with rust on the inside - the side manufactured with cooling openings which are located between the inside and outside of the brake rotor.

A steel brake line was rusted and failed leaving limited braking for the vehicle.all fluid drained from the master cylinder.

Got in truck started it, drove to the top of mile driveway applied brakes. The pedal went to the floor. I rolled into the road before i could apply the parking brake. An oncoming car had to brake, so as to avoid hitting me.i got the truck back in to the driveway and rode the park brake down the drive. Called a wrecker to tow to nearestgarage. The brake lines ruptured in the different places, lost all brake fluid.

2001 gmc 1500 sierra 4x4 currently has 68k miles. Vehicle speed sensors causing abs brake activation at speeds below 12mph. Vehicle was repaired originally on 2/28/2005 for this condition. Vehicle is having a reoccurance of this currently noticed on or around 10/2009. Vehicle was brought into a dealership for diagnosis and it was diagnosed that senors are in need of complete replacement, however general motors has stated they will not replace the sensorts and a recall has never existed for said vehicle (ref nhtsa recall# 05v379000). General motors contact that stated this recalll did not exist. Currently, the failure has not been repaired, and old parts are available. This condition occurs 95% of the time when braking below 12mph, and makes it extremely difficult to stop the vehicle at intersections, traffic, etc. Looking for gm to correct this problem before any accidents or injuries occur.also parking brake has never sufficiently held vehicle as it gets depressed to floor and vehicle still can roll, promoting a hazard to others in the vicinity if the transmission lock gives out.

One of the brake lines failed while i was stopped in traffic nearly causing a collision. I was stopped with my foot on the brake when the pedal suddenly went to the floor and the truck moved forward several feet. I pushed the pedal again and the truck stopped but the pedal traveled nearly all the way to the floor. I looked and saw brake fluid leaking from a hole in one of the brake lines. The lines are all very rusty/corroded and the blown line was outside the frame below the drivers door.

The contact owns a 2001 gmc sierra 1500. While driving at approximately 20 mph, the contact applied the brakes but the vehicle did not slow down. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealership where the entire breaking unit was replaced. The failure had not occurred since the repair. The failure mileage was 95,722. The current mileage was approximately 96,320

I own a 2001 gmc sierra 1500 pickup truck.during early march of this year, my brakes failed due to rust and corrosion on the brake lines.two of the steel brake lines under the truck were so corroded with rust that the brake fluid ruptured the lines when i applied the brakes, and poured out on the ground. My braked pedal went to the floor.i had zero brakes without warning.it was only by sheer luck that i was traveling very slowly when this occurred, and i was able to stop using the emergency brakes.i was in the town of renovo, and could have killed someone due to this mishap.we live on a mountain, and tow a trailer with horses.this could have been a complete disaster under other circumstances.there was absolutely no warning that the brakes would soon completely fail.it cost over one thousand dollars to replace all of the brake lines on our truck.i have the receipt.

2001 gmc sierra 1500 4x4 main brake line rupture from corrosion while driving in traffic.

Brakes failed, brakeline rusted and leaked fluid , pedal went to the floor. Could not stop truck, emergency brake did not work either, had to downshift to the lowest gear, went of the road to avoid cars in front of me, took 200 yards to stop. Scary feeling. Never had a brakeline fail like that.

On 8/4/10, while moving in reverse in my driveway, my 2001 gmc sierra's brake line ruptured causing complete brake failure due to corrosion on the steel brake line.the vehicle is 10 years old and only has 29,000 miles on it.it was rarely driven in the winter when there was snow, ice or salt present.as of 9/5/10 the truck remains parked and the lines have not been replaced.when the failure happened, i conducted research to find this failure to be a pending investigation for a possible recall.nhtsa action number : pe10010.i only want gmc to take responsibility for the cost of the repair or reimbursement for the cost of the repair that is caused by this defect.but i'm pretty sure a recall on 6.3 million vehicles will not be issued with gm's ipo set to be released.so, i, the gm consumer, will have to wait.

Driving at approximately 35 mph, applied brakes when approaching a red light. Brake pedal went down to the floor, truck went into the intersection and finally came to a stop.there were no indication of problem before this occurred.truck taken to a repair shop.all brake lines were rusted and were replaced.i requested that the service station save the rusted parts which are now in my garage.

Corroded brake line on my 2001 gmc pick up truck. The repair shop said they have seen alot of this. I just read in the boston herald about this problem. I was going down a hill and the brake peddle went all the way to the floor and the truck did not stop. This repair was $350.00.

Braking system began failing at low speeds (< 10 mph), almost causing me to rear end vehicles when trying to stop. Took the vehicle to a dealer, who cleaned the wheel speed sensors at a cost of $110. One month later, the brakes began failing again and after researching on-line, found a gm recall for 1999-2002 gmc sierras. Contacted gm but was informed only vehicles with certain vin #'s are included, and mine is not one of them. I have children and frequently drive in school zones around school buses and children at low speeds (<15 mph). This is a very dangerous situation because the vehicle will not stop.

The master cylinder brake line rusted through causing the brakes to fail. The truck was towed by aaa emergency service where the brake failure was diagnosed. The cost to replace the failed brake line was $270.79 the rest of the under-carriage of the truck is badly rusted as well.

A second brake line ruptured as a result of rust corrosion causing the brakes to fail at76,158 original miles. I narrowly avoided a rear end collision into another vehicle carrying a family with children. The vehicle was towed to a gm dealer where it was diagnosed. The cost estimate from the gm dealer to replace all of the rusted brake parts is $5,125.00 this is the second incident of brake failure as a result of rusted out brake lines. The first incident occurred at 73,870 original miles. A call was made to gmc in an effort to seek assistance with the repair amount and they adamantly refused any assistance.

The contact owns a 2001 gmc sierra 1500. The contact stated that while approaching a traffic stop signal at approximately 45 mph, the brake pedal was engaged but the vehicle failed to slow down and accelerated into a ditch. The vehicle was towed an independent mechanic for diagnosis where they state that the brake lines were fractured and the entire frame was corroded. The technician also stated that the brake lines fractured due to rust corrosion and recommended having the vehicle repaired at a collision center. Two months later, the vehicle was towed to a collision center where the contact was informed the damages were beyond repair. The failure mileage was 68,780.updated 09/27/11 updated 2/9/2012

The incident started when the owner ofrepair service center backed my vehicle out of his garage, upon applying the brakes the entire brake system failed. This failure resulted in the vehicle rolling ontoa major roadway. Fortunately, this brake failure did not result in a collision with pedestrians, fixed object, or other vehicles which could have resulted in deaths and injuries. Upon inspection of thebrake system, it was discovered thattwo steel brake lines had ruptured and causedthe brake fluid to escape profusely thus brake failure. These two rupturedlines were located next to the abs electro-hydraulic control unit. These steel brake lines had excessive rusting and rotting. The entire steel brake line system showed evidence of severe rusting or rotting.to correct this extremely hazardous and dangerous condition i had the entire steel brake lines replaced.i have secured the original, failed brake lines. I'd appreciate an investigation into this serious condition to prevent potentially dangerous collisions which could result in injuries and/or death.an investigation should also be conducted to determine if there is a possibility of defective material and/or design.

Problem is intermittent.brake and abs warning lights come on and stay on until engine is turned off.no detectable change in braking.separately, but also intermittently, at low speeds (no warning lights) the abs is engaged while braking, making the vehicle hard to stop at times.this seems to occur most frequently when turning to the left.symptoms are very similar, if not identical to nhtsa campaign id number : 05v379000.many anecdotal descriptions of this same problem in 1999-2002 gmc light trucks can be easily found on the internet.

Complete brake failure on a 2001 gmc sierra 1500 pickup truck. On the hw1 fwy on the island of oahu , hawaii @ 7:30 pm hawaiiantime. Was going 60 miles per hour with no brakes. The system didnt respond or report a failure. Had too down shift with automatic transmission & use parking brake too stop vehical & was able 2 manuever the truck onto the shoulder of hw1 fwy & slid on the red dirt until it stop six feet from a call box. Please help too avoid this happening too anyone else. The truck is @ gmc cutter in waipahu hawaii.

The contact owns a 2001 gmc sierra k1500. While driving approximately 30 mph, the contact applied pressure to the brakes when she noticed that the brake pedal went to the floor and the vehicle continued to accelerate. The vehicle was towed to the dealer and the contact was informed that the issue was preventive maintenance and offered no additional assistance. The manufacturer was contacted and advised the contact to take the vehicle to the local dealer for diagnostic testing. The approximate failure mileage was 56,000.

This problem concerns my 2001 gmc sierra and gm's recall number 05068.the recall concerns the abs and a rust problem.i had the recall performed on oct. 19, 2005 and there was 47,249 miles on the odometer.i noticed a braking problem last week with my truck.after doing a search on the internet, i decided it was probably a abs sensor problem.i took it to the same dealer that did the original recall.they checked with gm regional manager and said it was already covered once and wouldn't cover it a second time.i had the repair done at the dealership on dec. 8, 2010 and the mileage was 65,849.so the effect of the recall only lasted 18,600 miles.i know 5 years have past, but the same issue in that few miles?i sent an email to gm on dec. 9 and they phoned me this morning.said the vehicle age was such that they wouldn't do anything.if i had 150,000 miles or so on the truck, i wouldn't think that much about this.however, this is a problem that gm issued a recall on and from what a understand, the original recall did nothing but remove rust from the sensor and treat the surface.i would think a recall would last more that 18,600 miles.i don't know if you have had any other people with the same concern about the recall only stalling a problem later on down the road, but wanted to make you aware of the concern i have.the brakes will fail at low speeds when they are applied and the message center in the dash does not give any message.thank you.

Do not know if it was the front or rear brakes that were lost when driving.drove carefully to dealership and had a corroded brake line replaced that had a hole or holes in it.

Stopped in front of house and when almost stopped the brake pedal went to the floor and i had no brakes except for a very slight "drag". I stopped and looked under the truck and saw fluid coming from under the front of vehicle. It appeared to be brake fluid and it was traced to a metal brake running across the front frame member to the brake on the front passenger wheel. The line was extremely rusty and leaking profusely. Upon further inspection all metal brake lines are severely rusted and need replaced. I have seen manyvehicles but none with this amount of rust on every part of all lines and the frame. This truck is 10 yrs old and is now unsafe to drive until all brake lines are replaced at substantial cost and effort. As you would expect i am not pleased but consider myself verylucky. I could have killed someone or myself. Please warn others this hazard exists.

Safety about gmc sierra truck abs braking system.there is a recall on this truck for abs activation when stopping and could cause a crash.i experienced this and they did replace or clean the wheel sensor and test for proper operation.now i have the same problem but they will not correct it.this is not acceptable to me for i will be towing a trailer and depend on my brakes to stop.they want me to take it to the dealer at my expense.i told them that i disconnected the sensor and the brakes work fine.i believe that they correct this and also i did have a brake line failure where i had to pay them $700.00 for the replacement of my brake lines.i am furious about the braking system and cheap building of our cars and trucks.do investigate this and reply.

Brakes on truck fail to stop. When brakes are applied truck keeps jumping and than finally comes to a stop.

The contact owns a 2001 gmc sierra c1500. While driving at speeds of 3 mph and attempting a u-turn, the brakes locked. He attempted to apply the brakes but they would nt engage as he proceeded to crash into a nearby tree. He was not injured and the vehicle sustained substantial front end damage. The crash was reported to his insurance company. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 117,323 and the current mileage was 117,357.

Sixty miles into return trip home while braking for stop light from about 55-60 mph, brake pedal went straight to the floor and truck would not stop.brakes worked fine earlier and failed without warning.luckily i applied the brakes early missing a vehicle that was already stopped for the light by less than one foot.brake fluid is leaking from severely corroded brake lines underneath the driver's side door.all brake lines are badly corroded and all need replacing.all of the truck's metal brake lines are recommended to be replaced.

Brake system performance is poor.compared to brake performance when new, vehicle takes too long to stop from any speed above 20 mph.have replaced all pads, all rotors, and bled brakes twice; no noticeable improvement in performance. This was first noticed at 80,000 miles, vehicle currently has 110,000 miles.

- while driving the 2001 gmc sierra extended cab at 20 mph she attempted to depress the brakes andthe vehiclebegaqn to slow down , then without warning the brake pedal went to the floor and vehicleaccelerated. This failure resulted in a crash. The contact attempted to maneuver the vehicle to the left to avoid a collision, but was unable to, and thepassenger side front bumper crashed into the driver'sside passenger door of another vehicle. The road conditions were clear.the vehicle was drivable, however, the contact had the vehicle towed to the dealership. The contact stated there was a complete state inspection of the vehicle done by the dealership september 8, 2006, prior to the crash. The dealership replaced the front wheel sensor speed. The dealership investigated the vehicle after the crash and notfied thecontact there was nothing wrong with brakes. The vehicle currently had 52300 miles.

The contact owns a 2001 gmc sierra 1500.the contact stated that the antilock brake system pulsates between 1-5 mph when the brake pedal is depressed.the dealer stated that there was a recall; however, his vin was not included.at another repair shop, the contact was charged for a diagnostic and was informed that the failure was due to a defective antilock brake sensor.the vehicle was taken to the mechanic and they stated that there was failure with the wheel speed sensor on the front end of the vehicle due to corrosion.the recall number was unknown.the failure mileage was 27,000 and current mileage was 33,000. Updated 09/13/08. *ljat speeds below 10 mph, the abs activated, not allowing the vehicle to stop at the proper distance.updated 09/17/08.

My 2001 gmc sierra 4x4 pickup was designed with the rear brake calipers installed on the front of the rotors. Any road debris thrown-up by the front wheels causes the rear brakes to malfunction. The truck has 44600 miles on it. The front brake pads are in excellent shape. The rear pads, on the outside, are in excellent shape. The rear pads, on the inside, are worn to the metal. I complained about a noise in the rear end while it was under warranty.the rear brakes always hang when you stop, then make twin popping sounds when you start-off again. The problem was never found or fixed. This is not easy to detect and could lead to severe brake failure.

The contact owns a 2001 gmc sierra 1500.at low speeds he experienced unwanted anti-lock brake (abs) activation.a mechanic replaced the front and rear brakes. The dealer confirmed that recall # 05v379000 (service brakes, hydraulic:anti-lock) free remedy was not related to his vehicle identification number. No repairs were made. The failure mileage was 90,000. Thecurrent mileage was 140,000 .

Had a recall on my 2001 gmc sierra 1500 series pick up truck for front wheel speed sensor. After they replaced it my anti lock brakes started engaging at speeds below 5 mi/hr. Not always but frequently. Especially in bumper to bumper traffic or coming to a slow stop.

Slow speed unintentional activation of the anti-lock brake system.

Dt: consumer says at low speed under 9 mph the anti lock brake system kicks in, and vehicle losesbraking ability. This happens all the time. Brakes pulsate, and consumer says he has to use the parking brake to stop. This started about six months ago.

Dt:abs was not working correctly.recently had new brakes put on by a dealer, and this is not working properly. When applying brake pressure you hear a growling noise ,and extendedstopping distance.no other repairs have been made, but has returned to the dealer, who stated there was a problem with the abs system.

Dt*:the contact stated while driving 35 mph under normal road conditions, the hydraulic braking system failed.the failure occurred intermittently.the abs activated at low speeds.there was no warning prior to the failure.as a result, when applying the brake, the vehicle did not stop and resulted in two rear end collisions. The accidents were reported to the insurance.the vehicle was taken to the service dealer who could not duplicate the problem. The manufacturer was alerted but denied the claim.updated 10/25/2006 -

I have a 01 gmc sierra (light duty) that has the same problem with the abs breaking system as the trucks in recall in the north eastern states. My problem is i bought the truck in florida...moved to delaware and have lived here the past ten months..truck is still registered in florida...and gmc won't replace the recall abs sensors because i purchased the truck in florida and its has a vin number showing origination in florida...how ridiculous is this???????? is this legal to deny me a recall....when i can prove i have a permanent residence in delaware????

On our sierra gmc 01 the abs brake light has been turning on for 2 months and have had no usage of our emergency brake, we figured it had to do with the emergency brakes so we replaced the emergency brakes and the rear brakes which we purchased the brakeshoes for $74.94,brake pads $33.97,brake rotor$61.98,two pnt caliper blk $6.44 each and the total cost of purchasing this was $199.91 and to do the repairs we had a family mechanic fix what we believed could be the problem.

Brake failure.

The contact owns a 2001 gmc sierra 800 (na). On several occasions, the contact noticed fluid leaking from the steering gear assembly. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to hiley buick gmc (3535 w loop 820 s, fort worth, tx 76116 (817) 632-8800 where it was diagnosed that the steering gear assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. On another occasion, the contact noticed that the leakage from the steering gear assembly failed again. The vehicle was taken back to hiley buick gmc where it was then diagnosed that the steering gear assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. During the third failure, the contact parked the vehicle in his garage and noticed a trail of fluid on the ground. Upon further inspection, he noticed fluid coming from the steering again. The vehicle was then taken back to hiley buick gmc where it was diagnosed that the steering gear assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but with a different part number (19330428). The failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and did not offer any assistance. The failure mileage was 146,650.

My 2001 dodge 1500 pick up truck dash board cracked and came apart.

As far as i know the truck went around corner and veered off the road in to a snow bankdue to black ice and into a tree onpassengersideoftruck .itwas a hard hit and the air bags did not work .wheni get the accident report i will put exact speed.

The frame is severely rotted behind the cab on both sides. I have never seen a frame that is this age rotted so bad. This reminds me of the problem toyota had with their tacomas. But atleast toyota put out a recall to remedy the problem.

Tailgate was down, 2 persons were sitting on it. Tailgate cables broke on both sides, causing tailgate to fall down. No injuries.

The rear end was replaced four times.vehicle started to scream.after taking it to the dealer it was discovered the rear end was defective.

The abs warning light comes on intermittently.troubleshooting and research points to the likely failure of the abs sensors in the hub of the left and right front wheels.the abs warning lightoccurs very frequently.potential consequence is sudden abs failure, hence serious injury to occupants.

As far as i know the truck went around corner and veered off the road in to a snow bankdue to black ice and into a tree onpassengersideoftruck .itwas a hard hit and the air bags did not work .wheni get the accident report i will put exact speed.

I am writing to complain about a 2001 gmc sierra. It has a safety recall for the wheel speed sensor which can also damage the hub assembly, but the dealership still wants to charge a whopping $550 replacement fee. They say they can not replace the wheel speed sensor without replacing the hub assembly even though it has been recalled. The bad speed sensor is causing the abs to malfunction at low speeds and it is also smelling like electrical fire, the problem happens every time we drive he truck and i am worried that it will soon catch fire. We were told one day that the problem was the wheel speed sensor, and the very next day, after informing the dealer that it was under a safety recall, they told us we had to replace the entire hub assembly. I have no doubt that the entire hub bearing is bad, but i believe it probably went bad as a result of the malfunctioning wheel sensor. Needless to say, i am disappointed in my dealer and gmc.
