I was driving in very horrible conditions along hwy 97 in klamath falls,or and i hit a patch of black ice and begun to spin out, my truck then begin heading towards a deep ditch. My truck went down a 30 foot bank and landed nose first into the ground and my truck then landed on it's side where it came to rest.
I bought this truck from a used car dealership in blair, ne washington county.the dealership sold this truck to me with replaced airbags that didn't work.they replaced the original factory air bags with what now are marked chevrolet and not gmc according to mechanical shop.same mechanic expressed to me that this truck was in accident that not only bent the frame but also caused the original air bags to deploy.when i picked up truck after sale i asked the dealership owner why the light was on, he said his mechanic could fix it.his mechanic could only work monday thru thursday which made making any appointment impossible for me, so i took it to an authorized dealer to look at it and that is when i found the airbags had been replaced improperly.i filed a complaint with the ne department of vehicles and was told to file a federal complaint about the airbags.thank you for your time
The contact owns a 2000 gmc sierra 1500 hd.while driving approximately 50 mph, the contact crashed into another vehicle.the front end of the vehicle was completely destroyed.a police report was filed.the air bags failed to deploy.the vehicle was towed and is currently at the body shop.he stated that gm is giving him the run around.the current and failure mileages were 75,000.the consumer stated spoke with dealer, there have been 4 recalls that were issued and he was not notified such as tailgate, airbag, front brake pipe with body cross seals, and front brake hose abrasion. Takata recall
My husband was driving his 2000 gmc sierra going about 45mph.the roads were wet he swerved to avoid another car.he hit a utility pole in what was a front end collision. The truck was totaled.the air bags did not deploy.his eye hit the steering wheel with such force that the globe of his eye deflated.he is now blind in his left eye.after the accident i checked the truck for recalls.there was a recall about airbags not deploying properly in front end collisions.there was never any notification from gmc about this recall.
The contact owns a 2000 gmc sierra 1500. The contact stated that the vehicle was repaired per nhtsa campaign number: 05v379000 (service brakes, hydraulic) by wehr ford (11311 us-60 bus, mountain grove, mo 65711, (417) 926-3192). The contact stated that the dealer only cleaned the abs sensor for corrosion. Years later, the brake pedal failed to respond due to internal corrosion regarding the sensor. Also, the abs kept intermittently activating and caused extreme difficulty when braking. The brake pedal failed to stop the vehicle and caused the driver to have to reverse more than twice to prevent a crash. The dealer was notified of the failures and indicated that the abs sensor may need to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The failure mileage was not available.
Abs system board - solenoid solder connections vibrate loose causing fault codes.abs light and emergency brake light remain lit on dash.truck brakes work but with no abs on truck. Abs controller was only put on two years of gmc and chevy trucks 99-01.
The computer was misadjusted causing a hot/stall condition.nlm
The contact owns a 2000 gmc sierra 1500.while driving 65 mph, the fan stopped blowing without warning.the sensor resistor was replaced several times.the dealer stated that the harness needed to be replaced at the cost of $500.the manufacturer stated that they were aware of the failure.there were no recalls available, therefore, the manufacturer was unable to provide assistance.the current mileage was 191,360 and failure mileage was 189,000.updated 12-12-07.updated
The fuel gauge quits at various times, reading zero and the low fuel light comes on.it seems to be a relay problem in the instrument panel.the off duration is getting longer and is not realted to fuel tank level nor to vehicle movement.shutting the ignition switch off and then back to on will usually cure the problem.some times when the fuel gauge comes on the level rises very slowly, taking several minutes to reach the full level with the tank full.
I've had several problems with the truck since i bought it 3 months ago. I've fixed almost all of them-abs was activating which was pushing me into traffic nearly causing a wreck so i changed the abs speed sensor and hub assembly. Front suspension was gone so i replaced that; as well as steering parts, brakes, the parking brake doesn't work, fixing it next. Oil sending unit, a/c belt and refrigerant replaced. The problems left are evap emission vent valve solenoid, throttle pedal position sensor, and random/ multiple cylinder misfire sometimes and cylinder 4 misfire other times. In 4x4 when it gets under a load something sounds like it's binding up and it pops but it still works. When i shift into drive or reverse or accelerate from a stop it has a shift feeling in the rear with a thump sound. Sometimes i can push the gas and it won't downshift to speed up when i'm on the hwy but that's probably the tpps. I just want my 4x4 working and my shift thump from a stop to go away. Help. In 4x4 the noise happens in fwd reverse and when turning and worse in 4lo but happens in 4hi and auto but not in 2hi.
Continued excessive engine noise from pistons.

My 2000 gmc pick up truck has a loud engine noise referred to as piston slap.the noise has been present since i purchased the vehicle.i have since found that this is a common defect with some gm engines.the dealer states that there is nothing wrong with my vehicle but many web sites describe it as a manufacturing & design defect.i believe this causes decreased performance and increased fuel consumption.
Broken exhaust manifold bolts.doing preventative maintenance and an inspection i noticed four bolts on the exhaust manifold broken.the front and rear on both right and left sides are broken off.i did an internet search and found this videohttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0yg6wlbnzgi.i'm noticing the ticking sound of exhaust leaks.little jets of flame in the engine compartment can't be a good thing.
My catalytic converters failed once under warranty around 79000 miles and again around 110000. I paid for the second. I am having trouble again at 117000 miles and come to find out the problem is due to a leaking intake manifold gasket. This is allowing coolant to find its way into the exhaust destroying the quite expensive parts.
My gas gauge on my 2000 gmc sierra pickup is acting erratic. It goes back and forth between full and empty for no apparent reason. This started about a year ago.the dealer said it was probably the sending unit in the tank and would cost approx $800 thank you...*ab
For a long time now my fuel gauge goes to empty when i fill it up, then after a few miles goes to full.the pump is electric in the gas tank. I was told by another person who owns same vehicle as i that he had same problem and his finally just stopped working while he was on a trip.. Is this a manufacturers defect?will they fix the problem?........ My vehicle is a..... 2000 gmc sierra stepside pickup truck, 4dr, 350eng.
The fuel gauge is bouncing erratically every timethe vehicle is in park or neutral but in no other gear. It has been fine for years but suddenly started acting up.the truck receives regular maintenance, but the start of the problem did not coincide with any maintenance or any event.it just started happening.
Fuel gauge acting very erratic and vehicle will not start have noticed online that many gmc sierra owners of similar years have experienced same problems very expensive to repair.
Gas gauge on 2000 gmc k1500 pick up truck working erratic. Sometimes gauge goes to empty and then a check engine light goes on.i understand that a lot of people with these trucks are having the same problem. Gmc needs to have a recallthanks.
I have a 2000 gmc sierra that had brake line rust through causing brake failure.i got under the vehicle to try and change the line and found all the lines are severely rusted as is the fuel lines. Yes my truck is old and i live in the rust belt of n.y but something needs to be done either n.y stop using salt or the vehicles need to be built with lines that don't rust out. This issue i think is a safety issue that would be easily fixed by either no more salt or better line in the vehicles that don't rust through.
I started smelling gasoline and found a corroded fuel line at the junction between the nylon line leading from the fuel pump to the steel line going to the fuel filter.doing repairs, the hard brake line leading from the abs unit under the driver's seat area to the rear flex line connector was leaking badly as well at the rear-most fitting.purchasing these lines separately cannot be done, so i'm replacing all of the fuel/brake lines myself.i'm using stainless tubing for the brake lines not provided by factory gm parts.
Reference the recent newspaper article involving the faulty fuel gauges on vehicles.. I just purchased a 2000 gm sierra p/u truck that i later found had a defective fuel level sensor inside the tank.thinking i had a 1/2 tank of gas i got stranded on a side road 22 miles from home. It cost me a $1,000.00 to replace the unit as well as the fuel pump which are one unit. The dealer told me the problem is common on all large gm vehicles.
Excessive rust from middle of under carriage on back lead part failures.one of two straps holding up gas tank, rear strap, broke and rear of gas tank dropped about 4 inches.i was not driving the truck, just noticed then gasped.i replaced the gas tank strap.research on internet reveals excessive rust for these trucks is common. After hearing about the toyota tundras dropping a spare tire due to excessive rust, i figure a part failure possibly leading to a dropping a gas tank qualifies too.
Fuel gauge reading incorrectly on my 2000 gmc sierra.
The fuel gauge is sending incorrect reading after fill up, the low fuel warning lamp is coming on after fill up.dealer tells me this is extremely common for this truck and that i should consider it routine maintenance doesn't seem right for only 70000 miles.
Gas gauge on 2000 gmc k1500 pick up truck working erratic. Sometimes gauge goes to empty and then a check engine light goes on.i understand that a lot of people with these trucks are having the same problem. Gmc needs to have a recallthanks.
Gas gauge not responding correctly giving incorrect reading. Gauge is sporadic mostly when tank is full , have some concern that electrical fire may occur due to electrical spark in fuel tank.i believe a recall should be done to correct this matter.
The contact owns a 2000 gmc sierra 1500. The contact stated the fuel level gauge failed and was providing incorrect fuel level reading. The failure caused the contact the run out of fuel while driving.the vin was not available. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 63,000 and the approximate current mileage was 64,000.
My gas needle stop working and i know three other people with the same problem
Tailgate cable failure, i always gently lower my tailgate however i have had to replace both tailgate cables because oem cables failed. Tailgate has had no heavy load. Both oem cables were rusted through at the midpoint.gmc claims my cables are good and do not need to be replaced.i called gmc coustomer service and was told my truck was not included in recall.
The parking brake on my 2000 gmc sierra will not hold.i have adjusted both the park brake shoes and cable, but it will still not hold the truck.this is the same issue that led to a recall on gmc and chevrolet pick-ups with manual transmissions, but the trucks equipped with automatic transmissions were not included.however, the park brake must be in working order to pass the nc safety inspection.
2000 gmc pickup emergency parking brake never worked since purchased new yet dealer always passes it for state inspection.
Emergency brake failure. The vehicle will not pass state safety inspection due to inoperable emergency brake. Gm is aware of the failure but is only fixing vehicles that are equipped with manual transmissions. Gm states that vehicles with automatic transmissions do not need an emergency brake. If the vehicles master cylinder fails while driving, this will be the only way to stop the vehicle by applying the emergency brake. The emergency brakes on the manual transmission vehicles and the automatic transmission vehicles are identical, so gm is choosing to selectively fixing a known defect. The gm dealership stated that repairs could run up to $700.
Fuel gauge acting very erratic and vehicle will not start have noticed online that many gmc sierra owners of similar years have experienced same problems very expensive to repair.
The contact owns a 2000 gmc sierra 1500.on august 15, 2007, the contact's vehicle failed inspection due to the parking brake not engaging.he stated that the emergency brake light was illuminated, which indicated that it was engaged.the vehicle has not been repaired or diagnosed by the dealer.the current and failure mileages were 110,000.
Dt: the contact states there is nhtsa recalls campaigns 04v129000 concerning tailgate: hinge and attachments, and 05v161000 concerningparking brake. This vehicle manifests the sameproblemsas indicated in the recalls.but is not included in the recalls due to vin. The contact repaired the vehicle at his own expense.updated 12/7/2005.
Parking brake wore out by itself and failed to work. Will not function as designed. Had $400 repairs made to brake.
Brake failure due to brake fluid leaking from rusted out brake lines.
The friction linings on my trucks emergency brake wore to the point that one of them seized up. I removed the brake assembly. I went to have them replaced and the mechanic said this is a normal problem with these trucks and within 18000 miles the same would happen again since gm has not come out with a fix.
While trying to sell my vehicle, an auto service facility discovered serious frame corrosion which could prove to be a safety issue.the corrosion seems excessive and suggests design and/or material deficiencies.i have had to replace all brake lines and have had transmission shift linkage failure, all due to rust.also, excessive body rust in the lower rocker panels has occurred, more of a cosmetic problem, but indicative of the pervasive rust problem that exists.

The contact owns a 2000 gmc sierra 1500. While driving 50 mph, the vehicle had a sudden loss of power steering and the brakes failed to engage without warning. The contact mentioned that the vehicle would veer to the right independently. As a result, the vehicle crashed into a concrete barrier and spun around from the front and crashed in the rear. The drivers side and front passenger side air bags deployed. The contact sustained a dislocated left shoulder and a fractured right foot. The contact also sustained whiplash, neck pains which required medical attention. A police report was filed. The contact was not included in nhtsa campaign id number: 05v005000 (power train) and nhtsa action number: ea04012 (service brakes, hydraulic, steering). The vehicle was towed to the contacts residence. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 183,500.
The np246 transfer case oil pump plate wears a hole into the case, causing it to leak. There is a saver plate that can be installed that prevents this problem.
On february 15, 2012 at approximately 11:00am, driving down a two lane paved highway, the cross pin in the rear differential gear housing failed and parts of it fell into the gears causing the rear tires to lock up and the vehicle to skid out of control into the oncoming traffic lane. Luckily, oncoming traffic was able to stop in time avoiding an accident. This was verified by american collision in rutland, vt as the cause of the failure.
Fuel gauge acting very erratic and vehicle will not start have noticed online that many gmc sierra owners of similar years have experienced same problems very expensive to repair.
Truck drive train intermittently makes clunk noise when i first start off from a stop. When i stop at a red light it feels like someone just hit me from behind going from first into second gear. It started at about 88000 miles / 4 years ago and has been getting progressively worse. The problem seems to be electrical of sorts. When the truck starts acting up with this problem i usually pull off to the side of the road & turn off the ignition...wait 20-30 seconds & restart the ignition...98% of the time the problem goes away. This is a recurring problem & the dealerships give me nothing but the runaround. The truck serves me well with 238000 miles on her but i most defiantly would like to find the cure & fix this problem.

The contact owns a 2000 gmc sierra 1500. Whileexiting a ramp at 35 mphhe lost power steering. He was able to safely drive the vehicle home.upon vehicle inspection he noticed that the power steering pump shaft fractured. He repaired the vehicle himself. He was advised by the manufacturer that his vehicle identification number was excluded from recall# 05v005000(power train:drive line:drive shaft). The failure mileage was 102,000. I have a 2000 gmc sierra with all power seats. The seat back is stuck in the recline position wont return. This happened a few years back. I had brought to the dealer as soon it happened .they charged me $84.00 to tell me that i needed a new seat that costaround $950. Well i hardly used the seat to make the gear strip. I am not amechanic, but the seat works fine excluding the seat back. I could not affordthe new seat at the time so the dealer was able to bring it back to a normal driving position.since then my young son has played with the controls and reclined it to an unsafe position. Considering this is actually where the controls of a motor vehicle are located i would call this unsafe, not to mention a rear end collision would causea serious injury due to the fact that the seat is in an unwantedreclined position.,making the support and head rest useless.
I was driving down the highway in my 2000 gmc sierra truck when i applied the brakes and the pedal went to the floor.i couldn't stop at the red light, so i had to make a quick left turn, across on oncoming traffic into a parking lot before i could get the car stopped.this is the second time my brakes failed and in both cases it was because the steel brake lines rotted out.i've owned many gm vehicles and never had to replace the steel brake lines, not even on my 1969 olds cutlass that i still own.i read about others having the same problem and supposedly gm did not recall. But was going to replace parts and labor for $500.i called gmc and they said they didn't know of this and i called 2 dealers and they didn't know of this kit either.so, i guess i have a big bill on my hands.cheap brake lines were used building this truck, and brakes are pretty important to stop.i'm lucky i was able to get out of this situation without wrecking.
Takata recall
While driving my vehicle and towing a 4000+ pound boat, my brake petal went to the floor. When i got out of the vehicle, there was brake fluid leaking on the ground. I detached the boat and attempted to see if i could drive the vehicle to the repair facility. There was no braking power available so the vehicle was towed to a repair facility. Repairs were around $900 for a replacement of all the rusted brake lines.
Metal brake line corrosion and failure, resulting in mass fluid loss, pedal traveling to the floor, and complete loss of braking ability.
Catastrophic brake failure.went to brake at a stop sign and there was no brake pedal pressure; pedal went all the way to the floor.inspection showed failure of brake line(s).
Loss of braking effectiveness at low speed when turning wheel.while making left hand turn into driveway at low speed on dry pavement, anti-lock braking system activated causing loss of braking.brake pedal "froze" at position and would not allow pedal to be depressed further.vehicle continued forward until impacting the exterior garage wall causing structural damage to the home. Upon further testing vehicle in open, dry parking lot, the antilock system activates incorrectly when turning wheel left or right while braking at low speed.this vehicle had wheel sensor service for recall campaign 05068c performed on february 20, 2012.the gm wheel speed sensor recall campaign apparently is not a permanent fix for the root cause of failure, but only a temporary band-aid solution.fortunately there was no one in vicinity of front of vehicle when this incident occurred, otherwise serious physical injury of loss of life could have occurred.
Hit brakes hard to avoid deer, ran up on curb vehicle came to a stop, drove off a short distance when known there was no brake pressure.slowly was able to get vehicle to friend house, still broke was able to stop but there was not pressure.the whole brake line is rusted and corrosion. Updated 1/28/2015
Rear brake line failed when brake pedal was pressed.upon inspection brake line showed major corrosion, and remaining lines appear to have major corrosion as well.
Went to stop and abs came on and pavement was dry and now it comes on every time you put on brakes and slow down to 5 or 6 mph ...
While driving home from work at approximately 35mph on a congested road, i applied the brakes to stop at an upcoming light and the brake pedal immediately went to the floor. I swerved into the adjacent lane to avoid rear ending the car in front of me. Luckily there was an opening in the adjacent lane and the car behind me was observant. I pulled off the road and opened the hood to confirm the brake fluid level. It was very low. I climbed under the truck to observe brake fluid everywhere and assumed a brake line failed. I took the truck to a repair shop and was informed the brake line was rusted through and needed to be replaced. A cost of $275. Upon researching this on the internet, i have seen that this is a major problem and gm is holding out doing a recall. This incident caused me to narrowly miss an accident and it made for a tense and anxious time. I believe gm should recognize this issue and do something quickly before more serious accidents occur.
Brake failure for the second time on the vehicle.original brake lines were replaced 7 or 8 years ago due to failure at my own cost (rusted lines, leading them to fail as the brakes were applied), all lines were replace with gm replacement lines by a qualified technician.original failure rendered the brakes 0% operational, gravity (uphill) was the only thing that stopped the vehicle.the most recent failure (on july 29, 2017) affected the brake line running to the front-right caliper, line failed where it crossed over the skid plate near the center-line of the vehicle up front by the lower radiator support.line failed due to corrosion. Rear brakes appear to be working but are not sufficient to stop the vehicle in a safe manner.no accident occurred, line failed as approaching a light turning red while going uphill, rolled through the intersection prior to the light turning green for crossing traffic and was able to stop the vehicle as it drifted to a stop uphill. The quality of the gm brake lines are very suspect to say the least.the brake lines are dangerous and seem to be more susceptible to corrosion than any other brake line on any other vehicle i've ever owned, or any of my friends or family have ever owned.i can only imagine if the lines failed under different circumstances (while towing though mountains while going downhill for example, this would be a life-threatening situation).please determine if these lines are faulty for the sake of others with these vehicles, and the sake of other motorists that could be impacted when the brakes on this larger vehicle fail. If they are found to be faulty owners should be notified that these brake lines are subpar, and that the manufacturer's replacement lines are also subpar.

Brake lines running along frame have completely rusted out due to the way they were installed, they hold water and salt.
The contact owns a 2000 gmc sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving approximately 10 mph, the contact heard a popping sound after depressing the brake pedal. The brake pedal then suddenly dropped to the floor board. The contact was able to stop the vehicle with limited brake response. The contact inspected the vehicle and noticed corrosion on the brake line underneath the driver's side seat. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 170,000.
Had a recall on the brakes, recall # 05068. Classic cheverolet (now out of business did the work) they only cleaned the parts, abs light came back on a few months later so they just kept cleaning them until my warranty expired. Then when i brought it back it all of a sudden need over $2000 dollars of repairs. My wife got them to kick in a $1000. But i believe the parts should of been re manufactured out of stainless steel so they didn't rust & i wouldn't still be having his problem. Now i'm probably looking at another $2000 to continually fix the same issue. They basically did the same thing with the tail gate recall, just replaced with new parts of the same mat'l as the ones that were rusting and failing in the 1st place. So i replaced them since then again also. Which if they would of made them out of galvanized or stainless they would of held up better.
I put my foot on the brake pedal to start the truck and the pedal went all the way to the floor. Fortunately the truck was parked. I had the car towed to the gm dealer and had the lines fixed for $890.00.
I was on the ramp onto i-75 in detroit when i started to brake, the pedal went down to the floor.i had a little bit of braking power (approx.10%) so i was able to stop after some distance inwhich i had to maneuver onto the shoulder to avoid hitting the vehicle in front of me and the barrier wall on the ramp.luckily, i was going slow on the ramp with the traffic. There had been no indication prior to this incident there was a problem.after this incident i checked the vehicle and noticed that brake fluid was leaking on the front driver's side.i had heard later about gmc offering a reduced charge for the repair at dealerships but when i called the person on the phone he had no knowledge of this offer.
Pulling on the in front of my home , no brakes use the parking brake. Look under the sierra on the driver side leaking brake fluid. Corrosion on brake line,71,295 miles on the sierra.

Total brake failure caused by corroded brake lines.
All brake lines rusted and leaked causing brakes to fail. Also the abs system failed.
Multiple incidences of steel brake line corrosion, resulting in loss of fluid pressure, and therefore loss of braking ability. This has happened 3 different times already. Luckily i drive country roads with little other traffic.obviously this is a repetitive and serious issue for many other owners of these vehicles, as evidenced by the sheer number of complaints regarding the same issue filed to nhtsa for this vehicle. Does nhtsa even read or evaluate the volume and seriousness of complaints on the same issue? how many lives must be lost before this becomes a recall?
We were traveling west on 495 heading to georgetown hospital in dc taking a friend for her weekly kidney transplant checkup from baltimore md. The traffic had slowed to a stop as i hit my brakes and they went to the floor with minute stopping power . Had i been in the next lane over it would have been a wipe out as i would have rear ended the stopped traffic. I was in the curb lane and got into the shoulder. Brake lines are totally corroded, rusted and just crumbling.. I noticed gm knows about the problem but refuses to do anything. Will they wait until a fatality happens before they warn the public of this problem.. Many of these vehicles still on the road..
On my way to the store i noticed reduced brake pedal and increased stopping distance. No warning lights were on at this time. On my way home the brake warning light came on and i had even less pedal and needed extreme stopping distance. I went directly to the repair station and the mechanic found heavily rusted lines especially in the areas of the abs module. One of the lines was rusted thru and leaking in the area of the abs module causing the malfunction. I already have had the brake lines to the front calipers replaced in july of 2012 due to extreme rust. I am having all the brake lines replaced with stainless steel at the time of this posting. This vehicle gets very light duty personnel use and shows no signs of rust in the body.
21 year old step-daughter drove my truck to work this afternoon, when she went to leave at the end of her shift, she stepped on the brake pedal to shift out of park, it went all the way to the floor. Thankfully she was still in her parking space, and not out in traffic on a very busy 6 lane road.i found at least one of the 2 brake lines from the master cylinder rusted completely through where they are clipped into the plastic guide on top of the frame.
Corded brake lines caused the fluid to be loss upon stopping causing the brakes to go out, this happened in 2012 with all the main brake lines to all 4 wheels having to be replaced, then again in 2013 the brake lines attached to the rear differential, corroded causing a rapid loss in brake fluid and, and loss of brakes.
As i was leaving work i proceeded to stop at a red light and my brakes went completely out i was able to pull into a parking lot and that's where i was able to see that my brake line was ruptured.
I was driving home from work and attempted to stop at a stop light when my brake pedal suddenly went all the way to the floor and my truck was majorly unresponsive to stopping.it took at least double the normal amount of time to stop and i almost hit the car in front of me.thankfully, i was traveling at a low speed and had plenty of time to stop or else there would have been a very bad accident.the culprit of this incident was corroded brake lines on my gmc sierra, one of which ruptured suddenly during this incident.
Brake line running on top of frame from master cyl to abs has corroded to the point of failure. It has rusted through and leaks brake fluid. Brakes have failed. This vehicle has never left florida and is still held by original owner.
Vehicle was parked in my driveway when i noticed brake fluid leaking under it. Upon further inspection, i saw that the brake line was corroded and ruptured. When i started the vehicle and backed it back and forth in the driveway i noticed that the brakes only worked in the front from this point. I replaced the ruptured brake line but i am worried that the remaining brake lines may rupture at any point.
The contact owns a 2000 gmc sierra 1500. While driving at a low rate of speed, the brake pedal would not engage unless excessive force was applied. When the contact applied pressure to the brake pedal, the abs engaged. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer and manufacturer were not notified. The failure mileage was 190,000.
The steel brake lines going to the rear brakes rusted and blew. After a inspection all the steel brake lines needed to be replaced.
The contact owns a 2000 gmc sierra 1500. While driving 10 mph, the brake pedal failed to stop the vehicle when depressed. The contact had to apply the emergency brake. The contact noticed brake fluid flowing from a fracture in the front brake line. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the brake lines needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 66,000.
As i was driving , i had no notice of pulling intosupermarket of complete brake failure, found out i have multiple leaks and pin holes in my brake lines underneath and extensive rusting on my vehicle, this is completely unacceptable.
During a normal stop at a stop sign on a rural road, a steel brake line ruptured due to excess corrosion. This one line between the master cylinder and abs module is the only line that provides pressure to the front brakes, which supply roughly 75% of the vehicle's braking power. The rupture resulted in rapid fluid loss and therefore a lack ofpressure in the hydraulic system to allow for adequate braking. Needed to swerve into a ditch to avoid a crash with cross traffic.visual inspection indicates most brake lines are extremely corroded, and were obviously made with substandard materials as compared to other manufacturers. I do recognize that this is an old vehicle, however other vehicles of similar age and driven in similar environments do not have this issue. Online research, most notably the complaints filed to nhtsa, indicate this is a common problem with chevy/gmc trucks of this era. Although other oem's (subaru) have issued recalls in similar situations, it appears that the gm that the public bailed out just a few years ago has decided to deny that this is a problem, gambling that the the cost of lawsuits associated with deaths do not exceed the cost of a recall.
While traveling on country road in quarryville pa. I came to a hill and a stop sign and pressed on the brake peddle.it went to the floor. I had very limited braking power and traveled through the stop sign across the intersection. It was a 4 way stop intersection. And no accident occurred .but oh boy did i get a dirty look!all the brake fluid was gone out one half of the container.looking at the brake lines they are rusted through and leaking.
Went to stop and the brake pedal pushed against my foot instead of going down.was moving slowly and the brake pedal instead of stopping the car pushed my foot up from the brake pedaland i went over a parking brake.mechanic verified that when wheel sensor goes bad the vehicle thinks the brakes are locking up and the abs system goes on pumping brake pedal.happened multiple times as approached stop lights pushing me into intersection instead of stopping.. I believe when the wheel sensor is bad it should not put me or others in a dangerous situation.
Brake lines rusted out and caused truck to not be able to stop and almost caused an accident.first line went about 2 months ago and was repaired.i assumed that this was a singular incident and the repair was fine, and i would have no other problems.now, a different brake line went.same exact problem...rusted outappears that all of the lines are at issue and all of them must be replaced.i was lucky as i had just come off the interstate highway where i was doing speeds of 70mph and relying on my brakes as would be normal.just as i got off the highway and pulled into work, the line blew out completely and my pedal went to the floor.i had no brakes at all...nothing.luckily, i was in the parking lot, and going slow enough and i thought quickly and used my emergency brakes and stopped.had the brake line gone out just two minutes earlier, or about two or three brake pedal presses before, i would have been in a serious accident.
Abs activating even on dry pavement with moderate braking, significantly extending braking distances
Rust on brake roters on general moters pick up trucks . Pads are stopping on rust instead of metal on roters. Was told alloy used for roters are bad causing an unsafe condition. Turning roters does not help because rust is deep in the roters.
I have a 2000 gmc sierra with an anti-lock brake problem. At low speed braking the truck's anti-lock system comes on and causes the truck not to stop correctly. This has caused many near collisions. I spoke to gm about the problem and was told the they had repaired the truck before i owned it, and they had fixed the problem. But if the same problem is happening again, then they have not fixed it. I understand that wear and tear is a issue with every car and that over time things need to be repaired, but if it's the brake system itself and not the condition of the brakes, shouldn't that fall on gm to make that correction.thank you
I own a 2000 gmc sierra z71 p/u truck. With 90043 miles..i have a problem with my brake lines rusting out causing no brakes. I called a dealer to ask them if they have had any recalls or complaints about the brake lines rusting out.they told me that gm is looking into the problems of the brake lines.what are they waiting for another fatality? me and my wife could have been killed. I have my truck sitting in garage awaiting what to do. I thought that gmc were professionals. I bought usa, awaiting reply. Thank you.
Brakes fail to engage when braking.thank god i do not follow closely to vehicles ahead of me. This has been happening for several years.brought to dealership when this first happened and was told there was nothing wrong with my brakes and there is no recall on the brake system.i will report the last date this happened.
The contact owns a 2000 gmc sierra 1500. The contact stated that while pulling out of the driveway at a low speed, the brakes were applied and the brake pedal depressed down to the floor. The contact had to use the emergency brake to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was parked and the contact noticed that the brake lines were rusted out and leaking brake fluid. The vehicle was then towed to an independent mechanic, where the brake lines were replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 60,000.
Rust- had to replace all the brake lines, rocker panels and cab corners, gas tank straps rusted out and broke off .both spring shackles broke from rust and had to be replaced, the frame had to be fixed(cracked) and now the shock mounts have rusted off and have to be fixed and its only got 115,000 miles.
The contact owns a 2000 gmc sierra 1500. While servicing the brakes, the contact noticed that the brake pads are rubbing against the inside of the rotors on all four wheels. The vehicle had not been diagnosed at the time of the complaint. The currentand failure mileage was approximately 112,000.
My 2000 gmc sierra's frame is extremely rusted.parts of the frame have rusted completely through. All the brakes lines have been replaced due to rust as have many other brake parts.i purchased the truck used but previous owner stated he replaced the brake lines due to a low speed accident.
3rd time brakes/rotors have been replaced. This time i found i needed to replace the front calipers also. I have a detailed vehicle repair history from the day it was first purchased. The brakelines are in bad shape. While bleeding the brakes after installation, i had one of the lines rupture from corrosion. Upon inspection of all brakelines, i find it necessary to replace all brakelines for the safety of myself and my family and the other motorists on the road.
Braking coming to a red light. Catastrophic brake failure occurred due to brake line corrosion.upon investigation, all five brake lines leading from the pump under the drivers seat, next to the frame are severely corroded. Everything else is in very good condition. There is almost no corrosion at, except the severely corroded brake lines.all brake lines need to be replaced. This is clearly an issue of inferior brake lines used.
I have a 2000 gmc. At low speeds (under 10k) the vehicle will not stop quickly,it takes 10 or more feet with the brake fade. I took the abs fuse out an it stops on a dime.very dangerous in shopping centres the fuse is in.
Brake failure due to brake fluid leaking from rusted out brake lines.
All of the brake lines on my 2000 gmc sierra 1500 are rusting thru and bursting. Causing loss of brakes and nearly causing an accident.
Purchased 2000 gmc sierra 1500 new.have during time of ownership had both front and rear disc brakes/rotors repaired/replaced twice.once with 20,151 miles under warranty.the last set of front rotors and pads were replaced with 74,299 miles during the recall 05068 for abs speed sensor corrosion.i had to pay for this set of rotors and pads at a cost of $406.03.since time of "safety recall" truck has intermittently not stopped properly at low speed.while driving i attempted to stop heard a slight pop and the brake peddle went to the floor with little resistance.had truck taken to dealer ship where last brake repair and safety recall was performed, they discovered that my main brake line had rusted through and had failed.at that time they also informed me that all the brake lines were rusty and should be replaced.i had at the time of dropping the vehicle off informed them of the problem with low speed braking and the feeling that the abs was activating.upon repair of the main brake lineat $244.32 (i declined to have all brake lines replaced at my expense) they test drove the vehicle and indicated that they were unable to experience the low speed brake failure.i do not believe that a vehicle with less than90,000 miles should have brake lines rust through, that two sets of rotors rust to the point of failure.this degree of rust to the braking system appears excessive and unwarranted.in looking at internet appears to be serious problem with 2000 gmc and chevy pickups.wife will not ride in the truck as she feels it is unsafe since can't always stop truck!
Abs activation at slow speed, often when turning. Paid for wheel speed sensor cleaning and reinstall 12/14/2004. Recall for same problem performed 11/16/2005. Symptoms have returned, dealer will not perform recall procedure a second time at no cost. Slow speed abs activation increases stopping distance, and can cause a crash.
Original owner, 2000 gmc sierra sle, truck has 178k miles. Total brake failure when stepping on pedal after start up to shift into drive.noticed puddle of brake fluid under truck below drivers seat.called a friend who found the brake line going from junction below drivers seat to front left wheel had failed.
The contact owns a 2000 gmc sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving 50 mph, the brake pedal was applied and became stuck to the floorboard abnormally. The contact was able to control the vehicle in order to avoid crashing into a preceding vehicle.the contact drove the vehicle home, inspected the brake system and discovered that several brake lines were corroded. One of the brake lines was replaced a few years prior to the most recent failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileages were 100,791.
The 1st prob left rear brake line broke. 2nd prob 37000 mi had to replace all rotors and pads because rotors rusted and chewed up pads, also replaced 1 caliper and brake line. 3rd prob 10/11 42115 mi other rear brake line broke. 4rth prob 12/11 42450mi brakeline to the proportioning valve broke. The first prob i was rolling to a stop @ a stop sign. The 3rd and 4rth prob happened in my driveway. It should be a crime to put peoples lives in danger because of inferior materials.
The contact owns a 2000 gmc sierra 1500.the contact stated that there was a recall regarding the brakes on his vehicle.after the recall repair was performed, the failure recurred.while driving 8 mph, the vehicle continued to move when the brake pedal was depressed.prior to the repair, the contact filed a complaint and had the issue addressed and repaired for free.the failure mileage was 53,000 and current mileage was 130,563.
I have a 2000 gmc sierra 1500 sle pickup truck.at 8 years old - one of my brake lines failed while driving on the highway.this was due to extensive corrosion on the under carriage of the car.i had to have every last brake line replaced for $1,600 due to the corrosion.i have never seen corrosion on such an important component before.as an aside, much of the rest of the truck is incredibly corroded on the underside, and i just had a fuel line fail for the same reason.
The contact owns a 2000 gmc k15. While driving at approximately 5 mph, the contact noticed that it took extra time for the brakes to engage when he depressed the brake pedal; he had to continue to apply pressure so the vehicle would slow down. He noticed the problem only at low speeds.the vehicle had not been repaired at the time of the complaint. The current mileage was 65,508. The failure mileage was approximately 64,100.
Anti lock brake sensor corrosion causes low speed braking failure.driving at less than 5 mph was terrifying.almost hitting pedestrians at a crosswalk, rolling into an intersection, and almost hitting a stopped car in front of me.i took the truck to the dealer and they verified the corroded sensors.this was a recalled issue already complied with.no help from gm.they said the burden was mine.
Truck had failed to stop at an intersection as we approached red light. Upon depressing the pedal the brake pedal went to the floor just enough to get truck slowed before emergency pedal was depressed to come to a complete stop. We were traveling about 20 miles an hour before we reached intersection about 75 yards away.as light turned green, we slowly pulled into a parking lot and parked truck until a tow truck could get vehicle back to the garage for repairs. Upon inspection by our mechanic, it was found that the brake line had ruptured near the anti-lock brake housing which was caused by corrossion and poor brake line tubing material. It was noted that material was not stainless steel or any non-corrosive material supplied and installed by the oem.it took two weeks for our truck to be repaired as the mechanic had to customer bend the new brake lines because oem does not have replacement lines which came to a final cost of close to $1300.
When getting ready to pull out of out driveway, the brake pedal went all the way to the floor.i had a mechanic look at it and was told all of the brake lines running along the frame by the abs actuator were completely rusted and some were rusted completely through.he said all lines would have to be replaced.luckily i wasn't on the highway or roadway and involved in an accident.i had to have it towed to the dealer for repairs.
Severe corrosion of the steel hydraulic brake lines on 2000 gmc sierra 1500 2wd.severe corrosion exists at points where lines are in contact with the frame and extreme corrosion where body line connects to flex line at rear axle.this is same corrosion as reported on other vehicles with no factory replacements available for affected parts.
Complete brake failure due to excessive corrosion.i got lucky that i had room to roll out.upon inspection i noticed that many components show signs of excessive rust.
Gmc sierra - unwanted antilock brake system activation. Gmc recall #05068.
Truck lost ability to stop effectively. Truck was taken to local repair shop. Mechanic found steel brake lines had ruptured because of corrosion. Brake lines were replaced.
My brake lines failed on my 2000 gmc from wear.
The contact owns a 2000 gmc sierra 1500. The contact was driving approximately 30 mph when the brake pedal traveled to the floor with pressure applied to it. The vehicle was driven into a parking space to avoid crashing into the proceeding vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The failure was related to corrosion in the front brake line which resulted in a brake fluid leak. Additionally, there was corrosion within the antilock brake line system, parking brake cable, caliper, and disc which were all replaced. The repair cost was $700.00. The failure mileage was 63,000. The current mileage was 67,900.
Thank goodness no one was hurt, and no vehicle hit when my brake lines burst on this vehicle.when repaired the mechanic said they basically rotted off from rust and that this is a very common problem on these vehicles.i understand some maintenance is normal on any truck, but being able to use your fingers to crumble parts of the brake line is not.you need to investigate this before people are hurt or killed, if some haven't been already. You also need to revisit the abs sensor problem from the previous recall.that fix did not work, so all i could do is disconnect them or chance an accident!!!!!!!!!!
The contact owns a 2000 gmc sierra 1500. The contact stated the brake lines were corroded causing them to fail. While coming to a stop and depressing the brake pedal the vehicle would not stop until he pulled the emergency brake. The vehicle was pulled to the side of the road and towed to his home. After inspecting the brakes, he noticed the corrosion on the brake line and brake fluid was leaking. The dealer nor manufacturer were notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 95,365.
The original flexible brake hose on the front passenger side of my 2000 gmc sierra vehicle failed resulting in the loss of front brakes.it appears that the hose is too long and the hose rubbed on the rim.the delco replacement that i purchased has been totally redesigned.it is much shorter and the connection to the caliper has to be angled at a 45 degree angle, so that the will be no contact with the rim.after replacing the passenger side, i checked the driver's side hose and found the same problem.the hose shows rubbing is occurring.i will have to put a replacement hose on that side also.*ln
2000 gmc sierra4x4 pick upabs brake system activates at very low speed, thus releasing brakes and causing vehicle to continue forward causing me to go over a bank or hit object ahead.
While driving home i pushed the brake pedal and experienced a ruptured brake line under the drivers side door.luckily no crash occurred because i was on a back road with no traffic.after inspection it was confirmed that all brake lines were very badly corroded and all were ready to fail.the worst damage appeared near the wheels which i would assume is due to road salt and moisture.
Abs brakes failed to work at 7-8 mph. Truck hit vehicle in front of it. Dealer said all is well.
Truck lost ability to stop effectively. Truck was taken to local repair shop. Mechanic found brake lines had ruptured because of corrosion. Brake lines were replaced.
The contact owns a 2000 gmc sierra 1500. While driving approximately 40 mph the contact depressed the brake pedal and itdropped to the floorboard. The contact was able to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The mechanic stated the brake lines corroded and had to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vin was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 115,000.
While replacing the fuel filter on the vehicle the mechanic stated the fuel lines were badly rusted and started leaking. The transmission and brake lines were also found in the same condition. I was advised that all the lines should be replaced immediately due to their deteriorated condition. The vehicle was not safe to operate in it's current condition. Went to dealer to order parts and was told that the transmission and fuel lines could be ordered (approx. $500.00) but the brake lines are no longer available. Also the rear brake backing plates have rusted off the vehicle. All 4 rotors have been replaced 3 times along with brake pads. The vehicle has approx. 70,000 miles.i had a few near misses when trying to stop quickly - abs problem.
2000 gmc sierra brake lineruptured last year while depressing the brake hard to avoid a collision.
The contact owns a 2000 gmc sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving 45 mph, he applied the brakes and the pedal was depressed to the floorboard. The vehicle coasted to a stop and was safely driven home and the contact noticed that there was a hole in the brake lines due to corrosion. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 118,000. The vin was unavailable. Updated 12/17/11 updated 01/18/12
The contact owns a 2000 gmc sierra 1500. While the contact was driving 5 mph, the brake pedal dropped to the floorboard and brake fluid sprayed out. The contact used the emergency brake and was able to stop. The vehicle was towed to a local repair shop but was not repaired. The mechanic stated that the entire brake line needed to be replaced as it was rusted. The failure mileage was 62,000.
Brake lines corroded and failed during driving on major freeway.
Rear brake line failure caused by salt.
Approaching stop sign at an intersection applied brake pedal and at same time pedal went down almost to floor and lost of braking force. Was able to bring vehicle to a stop but had no room to spare. Inspection under vehicle revealed brake line ruptured due to corrosion. Vehicle has been parked since that time and not in use. Brake line running to rear of vehicle needs to be replaced.
The contact owns a 2000 gmc sierra 1500.the contact was driving 30 mph when the abs light illuminated.when depressed, the brakes would fall much farther into the floorboard than usual. The dealer replaced the speed sensor yet the abs warning light illuminated immediately following repairs. The dealer then advised that the failure could be caused by a faulty valve or module. The manufacturer would not provide any assistance. The vehicle was not further repaired. The failure mileage was 80,000. The consumer stated he spent over $3000 on the brake module and brake lines which were rusted. Updated 12/22/10.
Have to replace all brake lines 2000 gmc sierra 4 x4 extended cab. 53,000 mi. I have blown out brake lines 4 times over last three years. All lines to anti lock valve rusted through, front brake ,drivers side, rear line drivers side.
I was driving in medium traffic when a vehicle in front of me stopped quickly and i applied my brakes.then i noticed the peddle go down to the floor.that was the only warning i received and so i immediately drove home pumping my brakes when i needed to stop and tried to stop infrequently as possible.
Excessive rust from middle of under carriage on back lead to two part failures.rear main brake line on driver side of vehicle burst while applying brakes in driveway leading to brake failure.i stopped truck by applying emergency brake and slamming transmission into park--thank god this happened in my driveway and not on the road--research on internet reveals excessive rust for these trucks is common. After hearing about the toyota tundras dropping a spare tire due to excessive rust, i figure brake failure possibly leading to traffic accident qualifies too.
Brakes failed entirely. Luckily i had an emergency brake. 7 brake lines had rusted out and had to be replaced. - cost $1076.i have also had to replace my rear brakes 3 times in 86000 miles. Front brakes were replaced only once.mechanic says that perhaps the proportioning value is ng. There was a recall but gm said it did not include my vehicle. I think this was a lie.
1st incident on or about november 2010rear brake line failure no previous warning light indication - steel line burst causing brake failure along with emergency brake failed this happened at about 10 miles an hour so the vehicle was able to be stopped by a curb. Testing the brakes none worked even though it was a rear line failure. Vehicle towed and repaired by replacing the line from absbox to rear and the emergency brake shoes and rear disc pads were also replaced. Even with the emergency brake shoe replacement its ability to stop the truck was minimal at best2nd incident on or about august 2011the truck failed to pass nc state safety inspection as emergency brake would not hold - the emergency brake shoes and rear disc pads were replaced again with similar results with the previous replacement - with marginal emergency braking operation, but enough to pass the nc state inspection - also the backing plates of the rear brakes had to be replaced as they had rusted away3rd incident on or about october 2011front brake failure no previous warning light indication - steel line to front brakes burst where two of the lines were rubbing together where they cross over the frame from the abs box. This occurred at a stop sign. The hydraulic system maintained some stopping ability and that combined with the recently replaced emergency brake pads did stop the truck just slightly past the stop sign. To move the vehicle to a safe location it had no hydraulic stopping ability, but the emergency brake did function marginally at the very slow speed. The vehicle again needed to be towed. Due to the way the front four steel lines are run and bundled together with obvious other points where these lines rub together combined with rust will require all the front steel lines to be replaced including the steel lines from the master cylinder too the abs box.
Driving toward an intersection i applied thebrakes. As i pressed more firmly the pedal gave less resistance and eventually to the floorboard. The vehiclerolled into the intersection and eventually stopped. Not seeing any type of brake warning on dash i proceeded home slowly withlittle stopping power. When i inspected underneath the vehicle, i noticed that the brake lines were leaking like running water and corroded so severely that they needed to be replaced. The vehicle was delivered to the nearestauto repair facility.
The contact owns a 2000 gmc sierra 1500.while braking at low speeds, the antilock brakes activate automatically.the vehicle was taken to the repair shop for a diagnostic.a report was filed with the manufacturer and they stated that the vin was excluded from nhtsa campaign id number 05v379000 (service brakes, hydraulic anti lock).the current and failure mileages were 63,000.
We have symptoms of the gmc truck recall inl 05v379000 . We have safety concerns because our truck fails to stop properly and we concerned this will ultimately cause an accident. We took our vehicle in for diagnostics at brookfield pontiac-gmc truck dealer.diagnostics has determined that we indeed have the failures defined in recall 05v379000. We are informed wisconsin has been left out of this recall. Our neighboring states such as illinois and michigan however are included. We feel gmc has left our safety at chance and feel this is a legitimate complaint that gmc needs to include any consumer that has this saftey issue defined in 05v379000. We are filing this complaint as a record for when, and if this safety issue, causes an accident and bodily harm or worse. As we can testify wisconsin residents are seeing this safety issue defined in the recall 05v379000 and our safety should be addressed by the gmc corporation as it has been by other states surrounding us.
When i apply brakes on dry pavements the anti lock braking prevents me from stopping. The brake pedal is forced up when i apply pressure causing me to push real hard for the vehicle to stop. This occurs very often when there isbumps in the road that my tires are rolling over as i apply my brakes causing for increased stopping distance.
Failure of the wheel speed sensor due to corrosion causing unwanted anti-lock brake system activation. Nhtsa recall # 05v379000 describes this very condition, but i was told my truck did not qualify for this recall after a dealer search of my vin number. My truck however falls within the year, model and locations described in the recall.
Updated 09/10/07
Every so often the for about a month the anti-lock brake system would kick back slightly when the vehicle was coming to a stop. One sunday morning while coming to stop the anti- lock system kicked back very hard and i ran into the vehicle in front of me. Now the system is kicking back at almost every stop!
Dt: the consumer stated that the abs systemactivated when the speed was at 10 mph on his 2000 gmc pickup truck. The front wheel sensor was replaced on the front end. The dealer said that the abs was inoperative and were not working correctly. The truck was out of warranty and the owner had to pay for the repair work.this happened in 2004. The owner did not contact the manufacturer at the time of problem. The consumer has not had any problems with the truck since then.*sc
The contact owns a 2000 gmc sierra k1500.while attempting to depress the brake pedal at approximately 4-5 mph, the antilock brakes automatically engaged.this prevents the vehicle from coming to a complete stop.the failure has occurred on dry pavement and sunny weather conditions.the vehicle eventually comes to a complete stop over a period of time.as a result, the contact runs the risk of rear ending another vehicle.through research, the contact discovered nhtsa campaign id number 05v379000 for the same failure.he took the vehicle to a mechanic and had the vehicle diagnosed.it was discovered that the front abs assembly was defective and needed to be replaced.the contact called the manufacturer and explained the issue.gm stated that his vin was not included in the recall; therefore, they would not be responsible for the repairs.a mechanic performed the repair, but the contact believes that the vehicle should have been included in the recall.the failure mileage was 129,000 and current mileage was 133,000. Updated 12/30/08while depressing the brake pedal, the anti-lock brakes engaged on dry pavement.the problem started out as increasing in stopping distance. The consumer stated the anti-lock brakes vibrated so violently he was unable to stop the vehicle. The only way to stop the vehicle was to pull the fuse controlling the anti-lock brakes. Updated 01/05/09.
The contact owns a 2000 gmc sierra 1500.while driving between 3-5 mph, the vehicle required increased stopping distance.the contact was afraid that he might strike a pedestrian because the vehicle does not stop when the brake pedal is depressed.the failure has been occurring for two months and the abs was disconnected.the recall repair for nhtsa campaign id number 05v379000 (service brakes, hydraulic: antilock) was previously performed on the vehicle.the dealer stated that the rotors needed to be replaced at the cost of $1,300.the current mileage was 82,000 and failure mileage was 80,000.
Whenhitting a bump inroadwill lose brake control, and it will be hard to stop. Dealer notified.
Dt: contact states: when he has a load on this truck the brakes feel like they arefailing. Because this is a defective part on east coast i feel it should apply to my vehicle as well even though i'm on the west coast.
Dt*: the contact stated while traveling various speeds on dry normal road conditions, the antilock braking system activated and pumped continuously when the brakes were applied.shortly after, the abs warning light illuminated.the failure occurred while cruising.there were no warnings prior to the incident.a nhtsa recall regarding the speed sensors, was performed two weeks prior to the incident.the vehicle was taken to the dealer who determined that both problems were not related, and a diagnostic test displayed that the electronic control module was faulty and would need to be replaced.there were no repairs made.the contact removed the fuse that supplied power to the electronic control module in the mean time, which deactivated the abs system.the contact planned to file a complaint with the manufacturer after filing a complaint with the nhtsa.updated 1/19/2007 -
Anti lock brake sensor corrosion causes low speed braking failure.driving at less than 5 mph was terrifying.almost hitting pedestrians at a crosswalk, rolling into an intersection, and almost hitting a stopped car in front of me.i took the truck to the dealer and they verified the corroded sensors.this was a recalled issue already complied with.no help from gm.they said the burden was mine.

Severe under body/frame rot. The undercarriage and frame of the vehicle is severely corroded. There are numerous rot holes in the bed floor to the extent that you can not walk on the bed. The rocker panels and cab corners have rotted away completely.factory tow package wiring harness housing is rotted. Rear bumper rotted to the point where there was only 40% of the bumper remaining. Brake lines rotted along with entire brake assembly on rear tires, caliper and housing that holds caliper rotted. Entire portion of metal that holds the left tailgate hinge rotted away and is now gone. Tailgate can not be opened. Upon taking the vehicle for an inspection sticker i was told the vehicle was falling apart and i was warned that i should not be driving the vehicle. I was told the entire frame was rotted to the point that repair would not be a cost effective choice. Upon contacting dealership i was told there were no recalls and there was nothing they could do.

When driving and shifting gears and pushingclutch or when letting up of the acclerator pedal, idle does not return, andvehicle continues to accelerate and pick up speed, making it very difficult to stopvehicle. Consumer has contacted the dealer.
This is an ongoing problem with the vehicle the throttle sticks in the idle position when the gas pedal is released. It takes a very firm push to release the throttle and when it does release the vehicle lurches forward. Complaints to the dealer result in a recommendation to have the fuel system flushed on an ongoing basis. Some relief is achieved by cleaning the throttle body area around the butterfly plate. This has to be done almost monthly. The dealer also states that he does not know of a factory fixes to this problem.
The vehicles gas pedal became stuck when pressed.when the pedal was almost to the floor the vehicle would accelerate suddenly. Please describe further. *nlm
I was driving between 60 and 65 and the truck wouldn't slow down even i tried to brake the rpm gauge was at 5000 rpm and the truck was forcing me forward i put it in neutral and it still was accelerating like the engine was being revved up. I managed to pull out of traffic and killed the engine but it wouldn't shut off i took the keys out and after about 15 seconds it finally wentoff. I tried restarting it several times and it still kept accelerating to the max everyone time. I checked the accelerations cable and it was not stuck.
