2000 gmc safari, back top door never seated right and fixed twice. Resulted in slow leakuntil seals broke and van accumulated water under carpets and mold of various sorts grew. Respiratory problems and allergies. Husband began to check where leaking and found carpet underneath entire van as a cease-pool filled with green slimmy stuff and drenched and smelling. Gmc customer service, dealership and warrenty not acknowelge a fault in the "tri-door" seating and blamming on weather stripping that is not covered by warrenty. We have several other people we know in this area with same fault. Please be aware to alert consumers of this fault and heatlth risk. Get back to dealership as soon as you notice a little bit of moisture of leak in van anywhere! we now have to repair all out of pocket. Gmc did not stand behind this one!

Rear door handle becamestiff and hard to open within months of purchase.the dealership was not able to fix it properly.over the following two years the problem became progressively worse and now the handle is cracking. We cannot use the back door anymore. I have since discovered that this was a common problem with this model van extending back to 1993. (tsb#020864013)

When vehicle parked on incline (nose down), the sliding door does not hold open.gmc confirms a design change from 1999 which removed a safety catch on sliding door.previously, you had to move door handle to release the door from fully locked open position, this release mechanism has been removed.at time of delivery, door would not stay open. Dealer has adjusted roller catch 1/4".entering vehicle while on incline may jiggle car enough to dislodge catch and door can slam into passengers while entering sliding door-way.danger is extreme to children large enough to push door open but not large enough to stop it safely.gmc claims it is operating as designed, we claim the new design is flawed.gm telephone customer service rep, dealer service/sales all indicate they were not aware of design change and agree that it is dangerous.

In this particular circumstance my husband was pulling into our driveway, when he hit the brakes to stop we did not have brakes, our vehicle rammed into our garage door.on numerous occasions my brakes have went out when driving the vehicle, i have personally went through stop lights and stop signs because my brakes were ineffective.*la

Pulling into a parking slot, without warning brakes failed and hit parking meter. Took it to mechanic who could not replicate the problem and couldn't find anything wrong.vehicle drove fine for awhile, and then again, without warning brakes failed... Again in a parking lot and another vehicle was hit.took to a different mechanic and the wheel sensors were found to be the problem. After experiencing this problem, i did further research and see numerous others have had this same problem. It is a very dangerous safety issue for which gmc has not acknowledged and issued a recall.because of the incidence of brake failure without warning, it has made me psychologically afraid to drive or even be a passenger in this car.it is supposedly "fixed" right now, but i do not feel comfortable that it won't happen again. I have spoken to others who have told me the problem re-occurred for them after having their vehicle fixed. So it is a constant fear factor.gmc should do the right thing and include this model/year in the recall.

Abs failure at low speeds. Traveling at a speed of 25 mph applied brakes to stop vechile, pedal started pulsing and dropped to floor. Brakes never slowed vechile and crashed into rear of another vechile. Had about 4 car lenghts to get vechile stopped.

The brakes on my year 2000 gmc safari passenger van failed while i was coming to a stop and an intersection. I was traveling at approximately 10 mph. I narrowly avoided a collision by turning onto a grassy median. The brake pedal pulsated several times and the pedal then dropped.i could not stop the vehicle using the brake pedal. The van is well maintained and has 36,000 miles logged. The repair shop diagnosed the problem as a failed wheel speed sensor. The hub and bearing assembly and the speed sensor were replaced.it has now come to my attention that a recall is in effect for this part - front hub/bearing assembly and the wheel speed sensor - on 2002 model year chervrolet tahoe vehicles (letter dated october 2005 from chevrolet). I strongly recommend investigating these questionable parts on all gems vehicles. It is my belief that the current tahoe recall should be expanded to all vehicles with these parts.

Dt: the callerhad to pumpbrakes to get vehicle to stop. Abs light on dashboardcameon and off.it started without warning. There is a recall on the abs for other vehicles, but not on this model. Manufacturer gave the callera claim number and said to take it to the dealer.the dealer claimed this vehicle was not recalled, andthe caller would have to pay to get it fixed. Caller spoke to marama at gmc, she gave him claim #1360140806.

When approaching a stop driver applied the brakes, vehicledid not stop, andproceeded through an intersection. Also, power steering and power brakes were lost. This happened without any kind of warning.van was towed to the dealership for repairs. *ml

Dt: the contact stated the abs sensor and hub bearings had to be replaced. The abs was activating at low speedsat 5 mph. This has been a problem for the past year. The abs light on the dashboard kept coming on. She has taken the vehicle to the dealer once. The dealerreplaced the wheel speed sensors on the front of the vehicle. There had been corrosion in the bearings. The vehicle was repaired at the contact's expense. .the manufacturer was not contacted.

Upondepressingbrake pedal whenever there is a bump in road surface consumerheard a loud noise, andbrakes failed to respond, causing extended stopping distance. Consumer has contacteddealer, dealer unable to determine cause of problem. Please provide any further details.

I was driving the vehicle and applied the brakes for a red light.the brakes failed to respond and actually surged causing me to hit the person in front of me and resulted in an accident.the brakes are locking and burning.took vehicle to dealer and they cannot find the problem.they say it needs brakes but i had the brakes checked by a mechanic and i know that it is not the problem.he told me to take it back to the dealer.i thought it could be the calipers or something in the braking system.the vehicle is making pinging noises and pulling to the right.it will indeed cause another accident unless it is resolved.

While driving on highway went to apply brakes, and the pedal was sticking/ wouldn't go all the way down. Also, was pulling from the right front wheel.

Dt*: the contact stated the abs system activates at any speed. There is no significant difference in the brake pedal when depressed.there is an nhtsa recall, # 05v379000, regarding the service brakes; hydraulic antilock.the vin was not included in the recall.

Dt*: the contact stated while applying brake pressure at low speeds of 5-10 mph the abs activates and there is decreased braking power and the pedal pulsates.there was an accident relating to this. While parking the vehicle, when applying the brakes, the vehicle rolled off of the parking area and down the hill and hit a tree.there was property damage.there were no injuries and a police report was not filed.the vehicle had to be towed to the dealership and is awaiting inspection.in 2003 with 75,000 miles, the vehicle had the same decreased braking power.at that time, the dealership replaced two front abs wheel speed sensors.

2000 gmc safari abs system-at low stopping speed abs activates for no reason and increases stopping distance. Only 26,000 miles on vehicle. Had several near miss crashes in parking lots.most likely due to corroded abs wheel sensors.no brake light, abs warning lights or fault codes appearing.

Vehicle been in dealer shop on five or more times, and unable to duplicate the problem.the vehicle shifts hard and the brake pedal feels spongy.the driver side seat riser not operable.the brakes vibrate. The left window was inoperable. The vehicle had coolant leak.

When depressing the brakes vehicle would pull to left or right/hard to handle. This isintermittent. Dealer has been notified. Please provide further information.

When approached a red light, driver applied brakes, vehicle did not stop, and went trhough intersection.vehicle has done similarly in atleast two other ocassions.when applying brakes it produces a loud noise, and brakes faile to respond ( as the last incident) or extended braking distance.out of the three incidents two were at speeds of 35 to 40 miles, and one at the speed of 60 miles.the failure to respond is intermittent , but clunking and clapping noises from the front brakes are a more persisten and common.vehicle has been in dealer for front brake reapirs for 8 different times in 2 years. Failure of brakes to respond is agravated when there are "bumps" in the road.
