First of all my odometer gauge stopped operating. It remained on zero miles while i was driving the vehicle since november 2005. The whole dashboard cluster had to be reinstalled.secondly; the service engine soon light began popping on and the envoy was driving rough. I found out from a gm dealer that the clutch fan froze which caused the water pump to break and the radiator to over heat burst the radiator hose and spew out and leak all of the water and radiator fluid from the radiator.the envoy is now not drivable.i have only had this 2004 envoy since november of 2003.

I first purchased this malibu 2002 in feb 2002.nov 02 ( 9 mos later) i had to have my ignition switch replaced which was under warranty.around the same time my turn/hazard signal went out and i haven't had it replaced yet after 4yrs of having this car.if i want to use it i have to keep pressing the hazard button to make it come on.nov 2005 i tried to start my car, but it kept cutting off.my dad stated it was the fuel pump.i had the fuel pump, crank sensor and module replaced.my car still didn't start.finally my dad went under the steering wheel and pressed this black button (cut off switch) and that was the only way it would start.i have to travel 25 miles to work so i was tired of worrying about the car.i thought it was the theft system.i took my car to the dealer 11/29/2005 they had the car until 12/15/2005.i was told that it was my ignition switch, crank sensor and my alarm/automatic starter.i was out of $366.73 to the dealer and taking a cab to work at 5:30am for x7dy coasted$210.00. I was also out of money for a rental car for the last 7ys they had my car plus gas on both because they used all gas in my car.i have had x2 ignition switches put on my car, i have to change my tail/park/brake bulb seemingly every 6mos.i am only getting my hazard/turn signal replaced when nhtsa reviews it as being an defect.i am having a hard time with the speed of my car also on the e way.i have to put my foot to the floor in order to make it take off at 60mph.i have to put gas in my car every 3dys.i last changed my fuel filter 1yr ago and again having it replaced 1/1/06.my check engine light came on 1wk after i got my car out of the shop on 12/22 and it has been on since.my coolant light comes and goes off every now and then.i have had my coolant/fuel flushed.i had it winterizedwhat's the problem.if we have 47-50 people complaining about the same thing why cant it get done.please respond and help us chevy owners asap/wf.

Started having problems with the indicators on the dash coming on when they shouldn't have been and also the tach quit working. Then everything would start working properly again. This happened 3 times and the last incident was the odometer reset to "0", so now we have no idea what our mileage is and also the clock on the radio jumps ahead a couple hours. I was told by the dealer that i would have to pay for a new gauge cluster at the cost of $200-$300 and also $60 for a software upgrade for the other dash problems. I also called gm and let them know about it and told them i shouldn't have to pay for a new gauge cluster since it seems there is a design flaw and also the seriousness of the odometer resetting.

Check engine light on was told air injector valve oper/solenoid replace. Drove 800 miles, took emissions test failed. Showed no codes. Was told by tech to try driving 100 miles. Or take to dealer, took to dealership charged diagnostic fee. Was told by them to drive 100 miles. Drove 150 returned next day. Still the codes are not showing. Want me to drive another 150 miles. Two codes are not showing. Took back to emissions provider, they showed me it was the 02 sensor and last test on the obd computer. I don't remember the name. Also please note my radio froze again playing on 1 station and showing another. Showed it to tech today. And also my brakes still giving same problem. Abs brakes still pulling vehicle. Bought new tires to help with the traction. But problem still same. Fuel was about 12 miles per gal. How many miles do i have to drive in order for the computer on the vehicle to respond.i've driven over 1000 (one thousand) since friday 10-21-05. What a lemon! i will bereturning back to the dealership (chev) tomorrow after driving 150 miles. My daytime light still goes out when using turn signals.

Since purchasing my 2002 vehicle i have had to already put a new battery, new alternator, new tires (acceptable) two sets of brakes and the check engine light still is on and no one can find out why so therefore i can't get an inspection of the vehicle until light is off.help.

My son was driving the car and it caught fire and non repairable.

While driving on a very busy l.a. Freeway on a saturday evening my car suddenly lost power with no warning to the point of almost stalling. Lucky for me i say my prayers and was able to navigate to the off ramp and coast on to the street where i was pushed out of traffic by a good samaritan(i'm a single female driver). I noticed the check engine light was on. I was able to start it again after awhile and chugged home30slow miles to my house ( i was all out of tows on aaa and no mechanics open at that time).next week my saab mechanic indicates that it is the di failing. Estimated cost part/labor is $550.00. I just replaced the di 9/15/2003 after a similar incident happened and all power was lost while driving, i coasted to the side of the road and had it towed to saab. Cost to me the first time was approximately $450.00 not including car rental. Needless to say this is a huge safety hazardon the '99s as all these posted complaints indicate and i'm not understanding why the current recall is not including '99s. I've held off replacing the replacement that lasted only 20,000 mi/2 years hoping to get some recognition/help from saab with this. Part is available. Obviously the current (failed) diin my car is a 2000 - 2002 saab di - so will they take responsibility for this repair? this is ridiculous! i adamantly believe saab should take responsibility for this problem on the 99s as (i have found out) it is a known problem among owners.

The headlights on my 1997 pontiac sunfire vehicle are so dim, i cannot drive my car at night. It looks like i am driving with flashlights.i was told by a mechanic at sunland pontiac dealership, el paso, tx that there was nothing they could do.i told them the headlights have always been to dim on my vehicle. I told them i wanted new headlight assembly with brighter bulbs or higher wattage.i was told that they did not have any new head light assembly that contained brighter bulb, or higher wattage, and there was nothing else they could do.i complained every time i took my car in for maintenace.incident date is approximate date.they will have it on record.also, i am having problems with my ignition switch again. It is very hard to turn to start the car.you have to hold it in a certain position for it to start, sometimes it will star, and sometimes it won't.there was a recall on this. I have had many problems with my car, every since i purchased it brand new in 1997.i filled out a form and sent it to the dealership and gmac about all the problems i was having and they never responded to my complaints.i can e-mail you a copy of the complaint form i sent to them.the most disturbing defect about the car is that you can see the loose wiring behind the steering wheel connected to the dash. The mechanic where i purchased the car told me that all of the 19975 speed sunfires came like that from the manufacture. So, they put in a piece of black foam, so i would no longer see the wiring.this is a fire hazard.if i had know then, what i know now, i would have given the car back to them, and demanded my $3,000 down payment back. I would appreciate any assistance you can give me to correct the defects and problems that i am having with this car.thank you.

I have taken my saturn ion3 in to the dealership three times now for the body control module keeps blowing fuses. The first time was the week after christmas 2005, the second was exactly a month later and the third time was o week after that. On the first visit they say that they replaced the (bcm), on the second visit they just replaced the fuse and sent me on my way and the third visit they said that they could not re-create the problem and told me to pick up my car after a week. I picked my car up on thursday evening and not 3 days later and the fuse is blown again. Their only answer was to give me a couple extra fuses in the panel area so that i could change them myself.

Problem-electrical- radio replacement, third radio placei am on my third radio.the first radiobegan to frequently change stations on it's own.i thought it was satellites, towers, and didnt think much of it in the beginning. It was noticed by my daughter as having a life of it's own. Then it started to change often, while displaying another channel. It was replaced by dealer.second radio- display window began to blink, flashing the channelnumbers.it was changed by dealerthird radio-changed stations once so far. Not a noticeable incident yet.have not complained yet. In all radios, the panel gets very warm incident date is last repair date

Smell of gasoline around the car.a check under the hood show drops of gasoline coming from around a small clip in fuel line (top of the engine near the firewall).this is not the first time for me! last time the fuel was coming out of the clip at a faster rate.last time i wasn't able to replace the clip without buying an unrelated repair kit (discarding other parts) . I consider the condition, especially when the leak becomes more serious and driving the car for a while, as very serious.*la

About april of 2005 my truck started shutting off while i was driving down the road. At this time it would restart automatically with no other problems. Took it in to the chevrolet dealership and they stated that the truck was missing a stall code and that they had updated it. In september it started to do it all over again, i had asked some mechanics i know about the problem and they said it sounded like an ignition problem. We started checking all ignition connections, fuses, grounds etc. It stopped for about a month and started doing it again. It has gotten to the point were it will shut off three and four times per trip. While myself and two other passengers were working in lugoff sc it shut off on us in the middle of a busy highway, nearly causing a major accident. I have taken it back to the chevrolet dealership and they stated that they did not know what the problem was and that if it did it again to call them and they would send a service tech out to look at it. I think this is a major safety concern that gm needs to look into.

Low coolant light stays on - replaced first timelow coolant light stays on - replaced second time.

Intake manifold gasket leaking at 38,000 miles. Replace by gm under warranty. Intake manifold leaking again at 70,000 miles. Needs to be replaced again. I contacted gm customer assistance and they basically said they wouldn't help me because they already paid for it once. This problem is in addition to brake cylinder problems and other coolant system problems. I also have considerable leaks in this vehicle.

Oil gauge not working properly compared to new vehicles but service dept says its normal.

1. Runs hot was told by dealer its "normal" to run it at 230 20,000 miles. 2.replace brakes at 40,000 miles. 500.00 repair 3. I have a 1997 gmc sonoma s.n. [xxx]. I have been having a lot of things wrong with it. Air conditioner (a/c) went out, the motor mound broke, the head gasket was blown, the brakes fail, the valves are tapping, main front bearing seal is leaking, blinkers are not working, oil is leaking on top of engine by a/c, water is leaking from heating coil, water pump is out now,god that is only some of the things. I have had it 1yr. 7 mon.what can i do? i got the warranty. And thank god i did.*lainformation redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

97 blazer cooling system failure. From the time i bought the car the cooling system had trouble. The radiator had a leak ( 34391 miles), the cooling system clogged up and the heater core leaked from dex-cool gelling up ( 65265 miles ), again heater core leaking from bad dex-cool ( 104044 miles ), heater core leaking (114387 miles). Each time the heater core had to be replaced. The cooling system had to be acid flushed by the dealer because the dex-cool gelled up. All these repairs where done by gm dealer. The dealer could not tell me why the dex-cool was gelling up or the heater core kept leaking. I filed a complaint with gmc (complaint # 1-152407734) gmc could not help me. I found out from a radiator repair shop that they have had many gm cooling system failures du to the dex-cool causing electrolysis. This is the main cause of my problem and gm and the dealer will not address it. The radiator shop said the only repair is to flush out the cooling system for 36 hours the refill it with antifreeze, not dex-cool. Also add an anti-electrolysis solution to it and a radiator cap with an anode rod on it. They have had very good results with this repair. There many complaints on your site about this and also many on other auto repair web sites. All i want is to be refunded the money i spent on repairs from day one and have gm pay for the radiator shop to do the flushing and repairs. *la

Had my local mechanic replace rear brakes.still getting noise from rear wheels, took it to buick dealership to investigate.they adjusted brakes and they failed within a week.i was then charged $1000 plus a $400 rental car bill while they "fixed the brakes."after getting my car back it was still "whirring", turns out the problem was a hub bearing failure on all four tires.

Brakes on my 1995 gmc jimmy fail periodically. The last time i rear ended a women and destroyed the front of my car.everything has been checked over twice by mechanics who have come to the conclusion it is the module in the abs.gm has said it is not their problem.if i am driving along at 25 miles an hour, i shouldn't have to wonder if and when my brakes willfail again.the brakes were put to the floor and nothing happened, i continued at the same rate of speed.the first time i almost got broad sided at a stop sign.i am scared to drive my car and gm won't take responsibility for the failing component.

I have had the power steering rack in my 99 grand am replaced twice. The last time was in april 2004. It is leaking and needs to be replaced again.

I have a 1997 pontaic grand prix.the headlight lens (glass) comes off while traveling down the road. This creates an unsafe condition being that there is a projectile that could hit another vehicle or a pedestrian and cause serious injury. In calling around to find a replacement lens, i found that this happens a lot and the salavage yards sell them as fast as they get them in.that is a lot of lens covers flying around on the highways. It is even taking a dealership a while to order one, since they also can not keep them in stock. I have no way of knowing it mine hit another vehicle, as it was there when i left and gone when i got to my destination. I heard a noise like a stone or something hitting the car, but was not aware of what it really was.if pontaic knows there is a problem they should be recalled and they should fix the problem.

When i apply the brakes, there are occasions when it feels like they release! and i do not have the ability to stop. Because of this i have narrowly missed other cars, and have had to use curbs to stop. This has happened on more occasions than the one listed below.

Many problems with this 2000 jimmy.bought it used from carmax at 18k miles on jan 2003, got ext. Warranty, but soon after, front brakes need to be replaced, replaced by carmax for free, but 6 mos later brakes needed replaced.was advised that rear rotors and brakes were almost at end of life.9 mos later, replaced rear brakes and rotors, not covered under warranty due to wear and tear, spent $450 as well as replacing serpentine belt and flushing break fluid, total cost $650.problems with sunroof started in apr 2003, it finally stopped working and was replaced at 43k miles under ext warranty, had to get new battery, noise in under carriage on drivers side, determined to be problems with hub bearings and idle arm, inner tie rod, all replaced under ext warranty, total cost would have been $750.

Pop in steering and clunk when turning at low speed.dealership has replaced steering column, steering box, front end and rotors.have sold the vehicle to insure the safety of our family.

Within 12 months gm genuine balljoints (lower) on our 2001 chevrolet s10 pickup truck failed within 12 months, possibly sooner if it were'nt for the state required motor vehicle inspections pointing it out again. Imagine that they probably failed way before the inspection.it looks like we're not the only one who has expierenced this part failure with the chevrolet, s10.

I bough 2001-gmc-truck-sonoma. As a left over. On january 11, 2002,is the date i received it ,that is when i bough it. On april 10, 2002@\at1160 miles, they replaced both of the front brake rotors. On august 14, 2003 at 7745 miles they replacedboth of the rear brake rotors, and turned front rotors. Now as of jan212006,there is only 17,868 miles on the truck, it's always be garage keeped.and well cared for.it's still has the new small inside, now all 4 of the rotors and brakes haves to be replacd. I cannot under stand why its shouldbe up to me to replace with only then miles-per above.

I have experienced the problem described in tsb no. 020730048 - pressure control solenoid replacement for 4t65-e, 4t40-e, and 4t45-e transaxle/transmission (nhtsa item number: 10006166) a little over 2 years ago. I paid to have the solenoid replaced. The replacement is now beginning to fail again. Since this is a continuing problem for general motors i feel that a re-design solenoid should be manufactured and installed on these vehicles at no additional cost to the owners.

1999 chevy tahoe abs front wheel speed sensor corrosionchevrolet/gmc has indicated that the 1999 chevy tahoe that i own is not covered under the previously announced safety recall 05068.the vehicle was taken to a local dealer who indicated the following:"...found the wheel speed sensors with rust corrosion, causing unwanted abs activation and increased stopping distances during low speed brake applications.recommend replacing both wheel speed sensors to correct this condition."the vehicle also lived geographically within for 137,000 miles in the "rust belt states" covered under recall 05068, however gm has indicated that the vehicle 1999 chevy tahoe is not considered part of the recall.

I own a 2005 chevrolet cobalt. As i was driving the car i went to make a turn onto a street and all of a sudden the car shuts off and just comes to a complete stop. I wasn't going more than 5 mph when making the turn and i almost got re-ended because my car came to a abrupt and i almost got re-ended. I had to take the car put it back into park and restart. This is ridiculous this happened on 10/24/05, and this problem occurred 2 more times after for a total of 4 times b/c it happened previously on 10/2/05.

We own a 2000 gmc sonoma and the 3rd door handle breaks about 1 a year. It has been repaired by gm under warranty 3 times but the vehicle is now out of warranty and the handle has broke again. Since this vehicle has a seat for children in the rear and we use it for that, i am concerned the handle will break in an emergency situation and we will have difficulty removing the child from the rear. I have spoken with other sonoma owners and service personnel at gm dealerships and all agree this is part that always breaks. I have contacted gms customer service # and they have stated they have no intention of doing anything to improve the design of the door or recall the vehicle for a permanent fix. The problem could be very easily fixed by making the handle out of metal or increasing the web thickness of the plastic at the fracture point. I have retained the failed part for inspection.

2001 s-10 p/u. About 50,000 miles. Support cables broke. 3 year old sitting on gate when it broke. No one injured.

I was on 275w. When my right window wiper arm started to stop then it died, my husband told to see what i could find out on repairing it and cost on the computer, i ran across this little thing on the computer about 1997 buick century's and the right windshield {component: visibility: windshield wiper/washer linkages} well when i read all of it that describes what happen to my wiper. When i called everybody said no not your car, and i said i don't understand because the same thing is wrong with mind.

We parked at a convenience store and upon stopping to park the abs pump started whining and would not shut off even after turning off the engine.service manager at jim fuoco motors in grand junction, colorado disconnected the wires to the abs relay system under the frame of the truck.he said the abs relay module under the frame is faulty and that it would cost over $1000.00 for parts and labor to replace due to faulty diodes on the system.he advised that the truck can be operated without abs system connected and the brakes will operate as the older pre-abs brakes systems did but on icy roads or hard stops the truck may skid and lose traction. The truck had 47,000 mile on it when this occurred.this occurred several months prior and gm still refuses to repair the problem or recall the abs system.i noted on this site that there are multiple complaints about abs failures including many similar to mine. Why has this problem not been recalled as a safety issue?the abs systems on these trucks are faulty from manufacture, not from use.are they waiting until someone is seriously injured or dies?

While driving on i-75 north comming from florida after crossing the georgia state line driver made stop at the rest area, when i resumed trip the cruise control failed to engage,a few miles later in heavy traffic the cruise control engaged on it's own.almost causing a accident, this truck has had nothing but problems since the day it was bought, anymore problems this truck will be parked and tiltled only for my safty and the safty of others on the road.seems to me after 100 years of auto building general motors could get it right,oh by the way the local dealer said he could not find anything wrong with the cruise control,i have no doubt if this had been a cash fex instead of a warrenty problem they would have found the problem.

My son was driving the car and it caught fire and non repairable.

Electrical system failure wont start, cant roll windows when you put the key in the ingniton said driver unkown, lights come on, but radio wont, play , good battery had it tested. Wont jump start nor can you lock car with key but sytem security light is on when doors are shut no interior light comes on .side door may have gotten wet when window was down, already had a side door module put in.had own star in the car but havent had it reactivate, dont know if it could cause system failure . Driving a renting car now , when left for a long periods of time car will reset itself and sart.took to car dealer and was inform that car had to not be working to test.tried to sart this moring after not starting for 24hours and towed to the dealer this moring theyare still working on car and its been three days now cant find anyting worng with it.

I just got my car in december of 2004.i went to get my state inspection and the mechanic told me that i needed to replace my brake lights because they were not working properly because water had gotten into the light.i go back a couple of days later after dumping the water out of my lights and my car passes the state inspection but my right brake light does not work because of a wire shortage.

Anti-lock brakes activate during normal stop and go driving.this has resulted in numerous near collisions.defect reported to gm customer service representative on 5-24-05.

In the summer of 2002 my gmc sierras pu truck vin [xxx] began to experience brake chatter at very low speed. It then began to continue to roll when the brakes were applied. This problem became more pronounced and more pronounced as time went on.i had numerous very close calls with this truck involving buildings, trees and other vehicles. I took it to a local repair shop and they could not find the problem over a two week period. I finally took it to bowser gmc in pleasant hills pa. They repaired the truck by replacing the front hubs and sensors. With this repair and the previous complete brake job including brakes and rotors this episode cost more than $1400. At the time the truck had 36,000 miles on it. On 7/20/05 i began to notice the brake chatter returning. Just a slight chatter coming to a stop at red lights on inclines, then on the level and finally on 7/23/05 i almost crashed into my house as i pulled into the driveway. The same problem had returned, the truck now has 47,000 miles. It appears that my $800 hub replacement was done with the same faulty hub assembly. The same problem has returned only in less time. This is not the only problem i have had with the brakes on this truck, i just recently at 46,000 miles had to have the rear rotors and pads replaced due to rusted brake parts. So over the course of 5 years i have replaced 6 brake rotors, 6 sets of pads, two hubs and two sensor assemblies. I have had numerous close calls with this truck coming within inches of crashing into buildings and other cars. At times i have had to throw the vehicle into park to stop from hitting something. I have no other means of transportation and i am disgusted that nothing has been done to rectify this problem since i first reported it in 2002. The nhtsa action number for this truck is pe05020. Updated 07/19/2012 information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6)

Had front passenger side wheel hub (wheel bearing) assembly replaced in october 2004. In march 2005 same wheel bearing failed which needed replaced again. Now on the driver side the wheel bearing is making noise. I looked into this and alot of people have had the same problem with these vehicles and wheel bearings. This is very unsafe as the wheel bearing holds on the front wheel thus could cause wheel to fall off while driving.

Returned truck to dealer twice because of brakes when truck was under warranty no repairs were done. The brakes would not stop the truck within a reasonable distance.

No warning. Heard a loud sound like a firecracker. Vehicle was at a stop sign. Travelled 1/2 mile to home at less than 30 mph. Vehicle had a severe vibration in the steering wheel and the floorboards. Right engine mount studs sheared between the engine mount flange and their attachment point on the engine. Parts replaced and yes, i have the bad parts.

Since purchasing my 2002 vehicle i have had to already put a new battery, new alternator, new tires (acceptable) two sets of brakes and the check engine light still is on and no one can find out why so therefore i can't get an inspection of the vehicle until light is off.help.

For several weeks, 4lo light on dash would flash as if trying to shift into 4 wheel drive, on 5/19/03, it was locked into 4lo, have not been able to transfer to 2 wheel drive, very loud grinding noise in front end when trying to take out of4lo. *nlm

I have replaced my headlight switch 3 times now, the 2nd time i would drive and headlights would flash high and low like a police car, now my day time headlamps do not work? incident dates are not correct not sure.

My 1998 suburban has had two new fuel pumps installed by the dealer within four months.after a short time, approx.2 months. The fuel pump still makes a buzzing noise.

For several weeks, 4lo light on dash would flash as if trying to shift into 4 wheel drive, on 5/19/03, it was locked into 4lo, have not been able to transfer to 2 wheel drive, very loud grinding noise in front end when trying to take out of4lo. *nlm

Since purchasing my 2002 vehicle i have had to already put a new battery, new alternator, new tires (acceptable) two sets of brakes and the check engine light still is on and no one can find out why so therefore i can't get an inspection of the vehicle until light is off.help.

When i apply the brakes, there are occasions when it feels like they release! and i do not have the ability to stop. Because of this i have narrowly missed other cars, and have had to use curbs to stop. This has happened on more occasions than the one listed below.

Returned truck to dealer twice because of brakes when truck was under warranty no repairs were done. The brakes would not stop the truck within a reasonable distance.

On august 14, 2003 at 7745 miles they replacedboth of the rear brake rotors, and turned front rotors. 2002 yukon. Steering part issue. Replaced twice in two years, lubricated prior to that.been in shop for same thing 4 times or more for same issue.when manufacturer contacted about this after the fourth time in the shop for same issue....stated "if stays fixed for a year, service department doing their job and not gm's problem....no permanent resolution"manufacturer req# 1-375628602. If this persists, could cause major accident/injuries.

Pop in steering and clunk when turning at low speed.dealership has replaced steering column, steering box, front end and rotors.have sold the vehicle to insure the safety of our family.

I am a college student.i commute about 50 miles to school and back.i was in brick nj on rt 70 about to enter the parkway when i saw smoke coming out of my hood.before this happened i was using gallons of coolant in my car.i pulled over and got out and opened my hood so the car could cool.it was then drive able to the nearest mechanic where he replaced my intake gasket.during the duration of this day event i had to miss 1 class and had to ask my father to drive me so i wouldnt miss my other two exams for the day.the intake cost me 527.35.
