But most of all the brakes scares me i never know when it will work or when it won't ,so i try not to travel with my children or when it is raining .my vehichile was listed as reliable and low gas milage i have to put$10.00 in every day and not travel unessacarily. I had not had this truck long and it is a liability health wise and finacially. If some one can help or have information that may be usefull ,i am interestedwhat can i do or should do.

Digital dash went out cant see gauges neither speed.

Battery failed.

While driving approximately 20 miles the brakes overheated.if consumer stopped more then two or three timesbrakes would overheat.at one timebrakes got so hotthat the hubs overheated.dealership put in a new egr valve, a gasket, module an e prom and a main computer.

Wiring under the sunvisor rubbed against the metal frame, causing a electrical short circuit which resulted in a fire.please give any further details.

Electrical: drove vehicle from decatur, parked on the lot & went inside ,twenty minutes later a gentleman came in and said a vehicle was on fire.fireman said electrical, started down by the air conditioner and heater unit.

Egr valve has failed four times, valve fails on acceleration. Contacted dealer, and dealerwas not willing to do anything. Consumer also had transmission replaced it was noisy, also brakes were ineffectve, it was determined that rear wheel cylinders were leaking and excess build up of brake dust, mechanic recommended that vehicle not be driven due to both rear wheel cylinders are leaking, also when vehicle is warmed up, and the longer its driven vehicle hesitates and stalls, service engine light comes on,also radiator low on coolant inspection found that hose clamp at thermometer housing loose causing leak, clamp was tightened.

After the vehicle warmed up the oil pressure gauge would read almost 0.started reading ok until it warmed up.took it to the dealer and the only thing they could figure out was that the oil pump had gone bad. Their price quote was unreal (+ or - $3,200). We took it to a local mechanic and they estimated $1,200.00. Had to drop the transmission they said to get to the oil pump.this year (2003)the gauge is acting up again. It starts out fine and after it warms up, it drops to about 10 on the pressure gauge. When you accelerate the pressure goes up to maybe 20 or so on the gauge.i am not exactly sure on the exact purchase and incident date. But they are approximate.i have found numerous articles on the internet relating to gmc and the faulty oil pressure gauge/readings. I could not find any specific research that pointed to the exact problem. Whether it was the gauge, the engine or etc. I talked with friends and relatives that own the jimmy or blazer and theirs was acting the same way.*nlm

Vehicle exhibiting engine oil line leakage.

Check engine light comes on, then abs brake system fails, resulting in long stopping distance.tt

While driving approximately 20 miles the brakes overheated.if consumer stopped more then two or three timesbrakes would overheat.at one timebrakes got so hotthat the hubs overheated.dealership put in a new egr valve, a gasket, module an e prom and a main computer.

Was driving vehicle when oil pressure light went out. Engine started knocking. Took to independent mechanic, and informed consumer of engine trouble.oil pan showed no signs of oil. Paint had peeled offoil pan and cloggedintake manifold. Contacted manufacturer , and representative sent out to check oil pan. At first indicated would help with repairs.later, informed consumer engine wastoo old, andwould not help with repairs.

When starting the vehicle heard a knocking noise. Oil pressure gauge indicatesthat there is adequate oil in the vehicle.however, when the vehicle sits overnight all the oil drains out of the engine.knocking noise is also heard on warm engine starts.

While driving at high speed 60mph the engine check light comes on.then the vehicle loses power steering and brakes completely.this is the fourth time it happened.

Vehicle runs rough, brake pedal is hard, and engine shuts off. Egr valve has been replaced three times.

Vehicle was accelerating to pass a slower vehicle on a hill. The throttle became jammed in a full open position causing the vehicle to continue to accelerate in traffic . The driver in an attempt to regain control of the vehicle shifted into neutral resulting in the engine over reving. The engine developed a knock which was later diagnosed as a failed connector bearing. Upon investigation as to cause of the jammed throttle valve it was discovered that a heat sensor (in the rubber boot between the air filter and the air intake manifold) had dropped onto the top of the engine insuch a way as to cause the throttle valve cam to jam in a full open position. This failure resulted in the engine being ruined and replaced at a cost of $2700 plus tax.

Engine oil gauge did not register no oil pressure. Engine failed requiring complete rebuild.

Consumer was driving the vehicle and the engine caught fire.tt

Valves started failing at approximately 35k miles.the real problem is you have no more than 20 miles to travel after the "service engine light" comes on and you will loose the power brakes.last fix was on 11/25/97 with another egr valve and a new computer prom per gmc service bulletin #96067(a) dated 6/1997.the only way the public is aware of this service bulletin is if they have their vehicle serviced by the dealer.since the warranty is only for 36k the public is unaware of the fix and that gm will warranty the parts to 75k per the bulletin.est cost $500.00.my wife was on her way back from nashville tn. 8/24, when the part failed again about 20 miles from home the first thing that happens is a loss of speed est top at 45mph which is a major problem on an interstate highway.this is a very seriuos problem with these vehicles and i sincerely apologize for not taking action in 1997.

Egr valve continually fails (opens) , the engine looses vacume and brakes fail to function. Since 1999 the egr has been replaced seven (7) times and is currently in a failure mode.in spite of the fact that there have been service bullitens issued with regard to this problem gmc has refused to address the problem. To date over two thousand dollars has been spent replacing egr valves.when driving i am in constant fear of the egr valve failing and coversly, the brakes failing.

Poppits leaking fuel on central port injectors causing fuel to run rich which creates carbon build up in egr valve. This causes brakes to malfuction because of vacuum. Valve has been replaced or cleaned 4 times. Gmc has been alerted and i am waiting for a response for cost of repairs, est. $800. When the warranty was valid they replaced the egr valve, i feel they prolonged the problem at the expense of my family's safety and money. The warranty is no longer valid but the problem still exist. I fear for my safety and the safety of others in my path. Gmc should address the real problem and make my vehicle safe! please respond if others are having the same complaint, i need help. I am a dislocated worker and i can not afford to trade or fix my problem!

Egr valve failed causing consumer to run into brush.nlm

This is very discouraging because i was led to believe that gm was one of the better manufacturers. This is the first vehicle my wife and i have purchased together, and we left honda for gm. Replacing our egr valve on our vacation was a real stress point, especially as we were stranded in superior, wi the first time, and then thunder bay and terrace bay, ontario the next time - we were forced to drive 500 miles without our egr valve functioning, which makes the vehicle pulse and seem to stall. After spendng $260on egr repairs in wisconsin, and then driving only 500 miles before we needed another egr valve, we are very disappointed and worried about what else will go wrong. Gm told us that they will not cover the costs we incurred for the replacement egrs and our forced overnight stay at a hotel, frustration, inconvenience, missed vacation time and money used to fix the egr that we had planned to use for our holidays... What can i do?

Intermittentlyvehicle will stall out and die without warning when slowing down.it has been determined thategr valvue is defective.consumer also states brakes fail they become very hard to stop and control vehicle. Egr valve controls all vacuum systems also. So when the part fails you lose all brakes and power. You will suddenly find yourself without steering and any *any* braking powers.the failure continues and all the local dealership can do is add new parts to change.total costs over 2000 dollars in six weeks this last time. Yet with less than three thousand miles on the car with the last egr valve the part failed.we have had three in the last six months.we have replaced nine in less than four years.this part can only be bought from the dealership at costs from 250 - 400 dollars. The cost is bad, but the danger to all inside the car is extreme.we ask that you investigate this please.

Egr valve was replaced by the dealer cleaned it out consumer still having the problem .tt

Exhaust gas recirculation valve failed.

4- wheel drivemodule has gone out.also, overpast years consumer had to replace fuelinjector system/ egr valve/ brake linings/ brakes once yearly/ fuel pump, and instrument cluster.

Consumerreceived recall notice 99v193000 forabsfailure. Dealership was refusing service, saying that vehicle was no longer under warranty.consumer states vehicle has not started to stall due to faulty egr valve.

On a short trip "engine check light" lit up.i was traveling on the interstate between albuquerque and sante fe (50 miles)...reaching albuquerque, i took the exit and the brakes failed to respond.was able to stop by using extreme pressure, but had to pull off the exit to shoulder to avoid collision, and it took a long time to come to a stop.the dealer says the egr valve was defective (they replaced it yesterday), but admitted that since this was the 1st time, ihad trouble with the vehicle (it had been running fine up to that point) he was surprised the brakes had failed.this seems very dangerous....no warning....total failure.there is a special policy #96067 in place for the egr, but the maximum milage for coverage is 75,000.(although for the next three years of models it is up to 100,000.)i see that there has been a recall on my brake system (although i have received nothing yet), but this problem does not seem to be the same one as described in the recall information found on the web; my brakes were not slow to respond, they just weren't working!thanks , colleen cadwell.

A malfunction in egr valve is causing vehicle to shut down immediately, resulting inloss of vehicle control.tsb was issued. Dealer has removed and cleaned it in 1997, but defect has reoccurred. *ml

1. Seat belt replaced previously by dealer out of standard warranty period.the same problem has ocurred again with the belt retractor coil spring wearing through the plastic housing preventing the belt from retracting and holding the passenger in place.2. Fuel pump was replaced previously during standard warranty period.fails to provide sufficent pressure to start the engine especially when cold.

4- wheel drivemodule has gone out.also, overpast years consumer had to replace fuelinjector system/ egr valve/ brake linings/ brakes once yearly/ fuel pump, and instrument cluster.

While driving on state highway fuel pump failed, causing loss of power and power steering. Engine died without warning, engine would only run at high rpms, eventually vehicle woudl not start at all, dealer service manager stated that pump requires half a tank or more of gasoline to cool pump and prevent this failure.

Fuel injection system , located inside intake manifold, is leaking and spraying raw fuel on manifold. Dealer claims onlysolution is to replace complete fuel injection system. *ml

Vehicle wouldn't pass inspection.fuel injectorwas no good. The failed fuel injector was the sequential central part fuel inection unit.

Consumer stated the material that is used to make fuel lines to regulator and injectors, when under extreme heat they get briddle and crack, this causes fuel to leak inside intake. .consumer stated the fuel regulator was squirting fuel from the back into the intake, consumer cut the switch off and fuel puddles up in the intake, consumer stated the regulators are defective.

Brakes:when driving and attempting a fast stop, start to brake and the brakes lock up. Pedal all the way to the floorand attempt to slow down , brakes seem to freeze up.

Abs brakes continuously fail in wet conditions - even mildly wet; brakes go all the way to the floor with no stopping power at all. Originally thought it was my wife not knowing how to use abs correctly, but i drove vehicle all week and it is definitely not her fault. We replaced the brakes a couple of months ago to no avail. We will be reporting this to our senator since gmc has received many complaints on this issue and has failed to act.we just bought it in mar 1998 but will be getting rid of it as soon as we can.

Complete loss of brakes if used on rough or bumpy road surface.decreased stoping distance on slick or wet road surfaces

Left and right speed sensors failed and reluctor rings on hubs worn causing the brake pedal to become stuck and the car would not slow down until driver pushed pedal very hard.

Front pads have been replaced 3 times.

When the brakes were applied, the vehicle failed to stop, the consumer had to pull the emergency brake to get the vehicle to sop.

The antilock braking system (abs) brake pressure modulation valve (bpmv) problem of my 1994 gmc jimmy sle was diagnosed by wagner motor car company (4400 north belt west, belleville, il 62226-0303) on september 17, 1999 after the abs warning light came on to signal an abs problem.notwithstanding the fact that this problem occured after the expiration of the vehicle's warranty period, it is my belief that this major system failure (approximate repair charge of $1,200) is either:(1) a unique failure of the abs bpmv that should not occur for at least ten years or 100,000 miles; or a design flaw that is common to jimmys and other gm vehicles that utilize this abs bpmv unit.accordingly, on october 10, 1999, i sent a letter to gmc requesting that they authorize wagner motor car company to remove and relpace the abs bpmv unit on my jimmy at gmc's expense, and that they have wagner motor car company return the defective unit to gmc.this would enable gmc engineers to examine the assebly and determine the exact cause of the failure, thus affording gmc the opportunity to develop appropriate engineering changes that can be used to correct this deficiency in futhure units.as of this date, i have not received a response to my letter from gmc.i trust that by reporting this problem will help your organization to determine whether this is a recurring problem or an isolated instance.thanks.gerry jordan

I recently purchased a vehicle from rpm and a year later my motor had blown they charged me $1,100.00 for a new one. It's been 4 months and 3 motors later my truck still don't run the way it should. Everytime i try to take it in they give me some excuse why they can't look at it. Nowthat my muffler fell off i can't take my truck back in. Yet in the meantime i have 30 days for my warrenty to expire on this motor. I can't afford another muffler. In the meantime i'v had to take beck 2 of there loaner cars cause they were broke. I've had to keep making payments for a truck that i could't drive. I didn't pay for the motor in the truck til i got it back they put that to a credit company. I still paid my monthly truck payments of $270.00 in the meantime. I feel this isn't fair. They should of looked at my truck when i tried to take it back for 3 times now instead of shoving me out the door.

Gas pedal stuck, causing vehicle to surge. *dh

The consumer started noticing an odor of antifreezein the vehicle.several days later the consumer saw antifreeze and other fluids on the floor on the passenger side.the vehicle has had the heater core replaced once and another is needed.the manufacturer and the dealer are aware of the problem. *ph *sc
