I have no problem , but in the past i read in my local press that my envoy was to be recalled because of fallty airbags. I need to know if this is true ,as i contueing to read many of gmc cars are included in the recall.

While i applied the brakes they did not work as effectively as they should. Additionally, after the first and second impact (multiple vehicles were involved)- no air bags deployed. I was the only person in the vehicle and still the drivers side air bag did not deploy. My wife was in an accident with our new 2003 gmc envoy slt, purchased in november of 2003. To avoid rear ending the car in front of her, she swerved the envoy off of the road, down a hill and and hit a tree in the right front or passenger side of the vehicle. She hit the tree with such force that the damage to the front of the vehicle resulted in a total loss. My concern is the air bags never never deployed in this accident. I would like to know why? and i would like to know more information as to the operation of the air bag system in a gmc envoy.

Noticed periodic instrument cluster failure/accuracy problems.speedometer will sometimes work or work erratically so i have no idea how fast i am going.i researched on the web and found this is very typical for this model.i called my dealership and was told that they will only repair (no cost) the gmc pickups and not my suv model even though they have same problem with the same part.this presents a very dangerous condition regardless of what vehicle this is in.winter driving conditions in mn require diligence in speed and braking, this is a huge and dangerous problem for gmc and they are just ignoring certain models for warranty repair and forcing the consumer to spend $500.00 (est.) to fix there problem!

The contact owns a 2003 gmc envoy. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start. In addition, the headlights failed to illuminate while driving at night. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing or repairs. The manufacturer was not notified of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000.

Problems with the software. Driver 1 and 2 remotes dont always work. Mirrors change by just unlocking. Sometimes the electric seat release puts the seat into driver 2 position. Transfer case on occasion, all lights start to blink and you can hear the transfer case switching.

1) sequence of events - nothing happens when we try to start.-battery voltage ok, auto-headlights on, bright - instrument panel completely dead-2 hours later, instrument on the miles per hour instrument is going wild, back and forth finally sets at zero, now engine will start.check engine light is on for the first time- radio looses preset station memory2) it started about a week; we had problems starting the warm engine.3) automatic climate control is working sort of, sometime not4) the check oil came on, at that time there was plenty5) the backup mirror option is always loosing the input6) transmission problem light was on for a day some time ago while drivingin sb and in 2 wd, called your service and was told to ignore the dealer replaced the ignition switch, a superficial fix as it turned out later when the ignition switch was replaced again. The cause of the problem was not identified.

The contact owns a 2003 gmc envoy.the contact noticed that the speedometer was inoperable and she was unable to determine how fast or slow she was traveling.the dealer advised the contact to bring the vehicle in for service.the vehicle was taken to a private mechanic who was unable to duplicate the failure and advised the contact to take the vehicle to the dealer.the manufacturer was made aware of the failure.the vehicle was not repaired.the current and failure mileage was 92,000.

Driving in a school zone of 25 miles per hour and began to smell a rotten egg smell. The gauges on the dash remained normal. Pulled over at the next parking lot of a tractor supply and turned the car off. Smoke was coming from under the hood. Opened the hood and saw immediately where the smoke was coming from. We disconnected the battery first the positive, then the car started on its own, without a key in the ignition. Finally got the battery disconnected and the smoke continued. The result was a melted fuse box relay block a hole all the way through and a damaged electrical harness. The car is not drivable. It was towed. A claim was turned into geico and was denied by the insurance company. The repair estimate is somewhere between $1000-2500 to repair. I have noticed through research that this is not an uncommon problem with this vehicle. We have owned this vehicle from the showroom floor till now. No problems, warnings, etc. What to do now?

The car dies for no reason it has been doing this since the first day i got the car. The car also functions like it has hydrolics for a while it will be low to the ground while i'm driving it then out of no where it would raise up i had to get the suspension done when i got it because it was old and also the key gets stuck in the ignition also if i press the unlock button it will turn on the heat this car has been a headache.

The consumer took the vehicle in for the instrument panel not working.the odometer did not show a reading.the side mirrors moved on their own.the radio was inoperative, there were problem with on star, the a/c freon was going into the vehicles interior, fuel leaked from the tank and had run down the left side of the vehicle/door, the bell light and message warned low fuel when the tank was at it's capacity, the liftgate would not latch. *sc

I own a 2003 gmc envoy and the speedometer acts erratically, and is never correct. I've researched it and there is not a recall on it, and from other internet users messages on sites, there are a lot of gm vehicles that are having this problem!! i don't personally have the money to get it fixed, that and i don't think it should be my problem to have to pay for it either, gm put a bad part in the vehicles so i think they should have to recall whatever is wrong with the speedometer. Thank you for your time.

The contact owns a 2003 gmc envoy.the contact stated that the rear passenger side door would not latch.the latches for both driver side doors were previously replaced.the manufacturer stated that the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign id number 05v494000 (latches/locks/linkages:doors:latch) for the envoy xl.the failure mileage was 75,000 and current mileage was 102,000.updated 01/11/08.*ljthe front door latch are not starting to fail.the windshield wipermotor failed. The pinion seal was leaking and the taillight circuit board shorted out

The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 55,000.updated 3/24/15 updated 10/20/2015

Safety problem regarding control of driver's rear view mirror on 2003 gmc envoy.there had been a strange combination of electrical events centered around the accessories in the left front of the vehicle and the left door mirror.other problems:the seat would move erratically when starting and shutting down, the driver's side door did not lock in sync with the others, the locks would click 4 times after driving one mile, and the control button lights on the drivers arm rest was coming off. *sc

Within the last 4 or 5 months, the speedometer on our 2003 envoy will display erratic and incorrect speeds. When the vehicle is first started up the speedometer seems to register correctly. After 20 minutes or more the needle will begin to stick or stutter. Within 30 minutes the speedometer will register 90 mph with an actual road speed of 60 to 65 mph. Today it eventually pegged the needle at 120 mph+. At a complete stop, with the engine off and key out of the switch, the speedometer registered 60 mph. We are making contact with our local gmc dealer to see what repairs will be involved. Based on several internet forum sites and chat boards, this is not an uncommon problem. It also appears that gm has not issued a recall for this problem. They evidently do not see this as a safety problem or potential safety problem. Our envoy has less than 67,000 miles on the odometer.

My car started going nuts the wipers wouldnt turn off the seats wont move the doors wont lock the heaters off and hot air comes out tru ventilatos.

The contact owns a 2003 gmc envoy. The contact stated that the speedometer had not worked since the vehicle was purchased, and recently all of the gauges on the instrumental panel failed to function. The manufacturer stated that warranty had expired and the vehicle was over 70,000 miles; however, the manufacturer had offered to assist with the repairs. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 66,000 and the current mileage was 120,000.

October-03 to march-04, between 800 and 3000 mileage: several dual automatic climate control system problems.temperature would run berserk (very hot in coldweather when set at 55f, no ac in hot weather).the radio would loose its preset stations.dealer could not identify problem (no code was set) and told me to return when condition repeats without turning off the engine. He finally found a code indication communication interruption and low battery voltage.no action was taken. The problem resurfaced temporarily again in summer of 2005.

I have a 2003 gmc envoy. At first my rpm needle stared to move up faster then what i was going for about a month. When i shut the engine off it sounded like it was letting out a vacuum noise. Now it's been a month and a half and my mph is not working. It seems to be stuck on 80 mps while i'm setting and goes past 120 while i'm driving. Also the gas gage is not working right. It doesn't register the right amount of gas that's in the tank. I hope soon there will be a recall on the electrical cluster, because each gage is going out one by one. I hope this would be a vehicle safety hazard since you need to know what speed you are going. Thank you

Instrument panel cluster is failing. My speedometer has totally quit working.my gas gauge is starting to fail also. I checked on the internet and found that gmc has admitted the stepping motors are defective, on the instrument panel cluster gauges for my 2003 gmc envoy. A class lawsuit has been filed, according to the internet .according to the internet, this is a common problem for 2003-2007 gmc's. The cost of the repair is appx. $800.00. I cannot afford this repair. I am forced to drive without knowing my correct speed, due to the speedometer not working. Soon i will not know ....how much gas i have in my gmc. According to the internet my other gauges will soon fail. I purchased my gmc brand new for $38,000. I feel my gmc envoy is unsafe, due to the reasons i have just listed. I feel gmc should pay for this repair as, it is unsafe for me to operate the gmc like this. I would like to be included in the class action lawsuit. The failure is constant...no speedometer. This could cause my to drive over the legal speed limit with out my knowledge, which is unsafe. I have done nothing to correct the failure as yet. At this time i cannot afford the cost of the repair.

Motors that run the guages in my 2003 gmc envoy have failed.these control the fuel, amp, temp guages.this is a known issue for the motors and other guage clusters that use them in other gm vehicles are currently recalled for the same issue.i have not corrected the issue and still have the defective parts.

Wife mentioned the instrument cluster ( r.p.m . ) &( voltage ) /w/ the ( check engine light ) are on. Mileage=approx :106,000this is a g.m.c factory flaw in many envoys built . Electrician asleep at there posts on this issue , and said others too!!other issues are minor in repair and usage dictated by age , not a recall item but listed anyway for viewing.seat--electrical-driver side- front left facing lift bracket arm-- broke at weld .can be repaired.center floor front console --loose ? not yet investigated as to why.rear back hatch floor carpet ruined by former owners --unknown spill ate carpeting like battery acid spill.?other then a few minor glitches in a ( note ) ( used ) vehicle...we can handle it.note: all other systems operate as they are designed to do.

After six months having purchased this used vehicle from a local dealer, i noticed that the driver's door was not working properly, nor were the power window devices, controls, power locks and also the visibility of driver's rear window.i noticed that the door would overheat and sometimes i can smell an odor similar to when something is burning.i have taken the vehicle to a mechanic and finding the solution to the problem has been difficult. On june 2013, i read on the msn website that the gmc envoys for 2006 and 2007 were being recalled (recall #13v248000) in regards to driver's master power window switch.since i am havingthis same problem, with my 2003 envoy, i called gmc and explained to her that i am having that same issue with my 2003 envoy.she indicated that gmc would pay for the diagnostic fee labor even though my car's mileage was not under warranty and that the recall was only for 2006 & 2007 envoys. She connected me to [xxx] for an appt. With balise the following day. She assigned a case number 71-1219059371. The following day, august 28, 2013, i went to my appointment at 11 am. And left my car. About an hour later, i get a call from gmc indicating to me that she was sorry, but that gmc could not cover the cost of diagnostic fee labor. I said,"that is not what you told me yesterday" and she replied, "i am sorry, i was not authorized to tell you that".i said to her, "i wouldn't have taken time off from work, ask for a ride, be without transportation if you had told me that before".i also said to her, "how can you tell me you are covering the cost yesterday and today change your mind".all she responded was, "i am sorry".i asked to speak to her supervisor by the name of [xxx] and the supervisor just said that her employee was not authorized to say to me that gmc would cover the cost.i still have the same safety issue.

The dash cluster does not work correctly, all the lights turn on and doors lock while i am driving on in town or on the highway , all the gauges come on at once while driving on the streets at random times.. The rear has airbags in the suspension and and aren't working properly, i took it to the shop and they said it had 30 codes on the diagnostic machine but they couldn't find the problem

The contact owns a 2003 gmc envoy.while driving 30 mph, the speedometer displayed inaccurate readings.the contact could not determine how fast he was traveling.all the gauges on the instrument panel were also malfunctioning.the failures have been repaired.the current mileage was 100,000 and failure mileage was 64,000.

I purchased my envoy new with 243 miles & have been the sole owner. My security light goes on & off intermittently & the vehicle won't start for 10-20 minute time periods. There is no apparent pattern w/when this will occur. I have been stranded in areas that i do not feel safe, oftentimes with my young children in the vehicle.i initially took the vehicle to albert gmc, where i purchased it (no longer in service, so exact date/mileage unknown). Diagnostics returned multiple codes, all related to the security system. They recommended that i have the remote starter removed that was professionally installed 11/2008. R&r car audio removed the remote starter &ran all of the wiring to assure it was sound.i next went to automotive specialists. Service history:11/9/10: ran multiple diagnostics, unable to determine problem or replicate.1/19/11: replaced ignition lock cylinder & case, at my insistence, based on online forums.3/11/11: ran multiple diagnostics, unable to determine problem or replicate.5/6/11: replaced ignition starter switch, at my insistence, based on online forums.9/23/11: multiple diagnostics, unable to determine problem or replicate.9/19/13: replaced ignition starter switch (again), at my insistence.11/18/13: shop had vehicle for a week, attempting to get the problem to replicate, without luck. I have spent a good amount of $ and time/inconvenience in attempts to remedy the starting issue. At gm's direction 6 weeks ago, i took the envoy back to a dealership,[xxx], & had to pay another diagnostic fee, which only showed that the passlock sensor was bad. I had the passlock sensor replaced 1/19/11 & experienced the starting issue again within 2 months. Gm would not guarantee their part since it was not installed by an authorized dealer, even though it was a gm certified part.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

The contact owns a 2003 gmc envoy. While driving at 65 mph, the instrument cluster became inoperable. The contact stated that the window switches also became inoperable. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The mechanic was unable to retrieve a fault code. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unavailable.

The contact owns a 2003 gmc envoy. The contact stated that after turning off her ignition, the doors locked leaving her trapped in the car. There was no warning prior to the failure.the vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure and current mileage was 73,134.

Engine stalling with vehicle in motion or when stopped. 5 stalls occurred within past 1000 miles.sometimes vehicle, chugs/skips just before stalling.vehicle has been serviced 3 times for this problem since october 27th and still not corrected as of this writing. Usual stall speed is around 20 mph.one time was driving at 65 mph on interstate, all dashboard warning lights came on vehicle hesitated but did not stall.cruise control always stops working immediately following stalling incidents.has stalled upon stopping at stop light/sign. Vehicle has had many electrical problems since approximately 800 miles including windshield washer system failure (twice), abs light illuminating, airbag light.*la

Malfunctioning of instrument cluster as described by the dealership.speedometer displays inaccurate speed, other readings on panel flip-flop also.advised by the service advisor that this was a noted defect with gmc and they had already started repairing larger gmc's and should get around to mine later in 2008.yesterday, gmc informed me of a special policy issued for the problem, but only for sierras and yukons (7yrs 70,00 miles).gmc told me they were never notified of the problem with the envoy's.i only have 56,000 miles on this car (first owner).now the a/c has gone of by itself twice this month and the preset stations have vanished.

My vehicle was making a jet like sound on start up and while driving and eventually the check engine light came on. It also was making a clicking sound from the electronic heating unit. I took it in to a certified gmc dealer and they said the clutch fan needed to be replaced (expensive repair). Could not tell where the clicking was coming from at the time (1/6/11 clicking will not stop - ended up being a door actuator). I did some research on these problem and they are very common in these vehicle. I called gmc customer service to make a complaint because at a little over 59000 miles these parts should not have gone bad. I wish gmc would consider a recall on this problem as well as other major things.

Started car and none of my gauges were working. This happened another time about three months ago and the next day when i started my car it was fine.so i was hoping it would happen again and it would fix itself.it didn't!i've read this was a recall on 2004 to 2008 why not 03 i've read several sites that its a common problem in that year also.took to gmc dealer after being told no fee for diagnose to pull panel after sitting an hour waiting now cost 150.00 and turns out its a cluster problem. Part is 375 plus another 200 for labor.

The contact owns a 2003 gmc envoy. The contact stated while the vehicle was parked, there was a buzzing noise coming from the drivers side door control module. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer for a diagnostic test. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 94,000. The current mileage was 97,000.

The contact owns a 2003 gmc envoy.the contact noticed that the speedometer in his vehicle would register higher speeds than what was actually being driven.while driving approximately 70 mph with the cruise control activated, the speedometer went all the way past the highest speed indicator after driving for 30 minutes.when the contact parked the vehicle, the speedometer displayed 70 mph.the dealer and manufacturer have not been notified.the vin was unknown.the current mileage was approximately 81,000 and failure mileage was approximately 79,000.

I noticed a electrical burning smell while driving on a side street. The engine made an unusual noise so i pulled over, turned the car off and put on the hazard lights. While waiting for the tow truck, the car started with no key in the ignition. The car ran for a short time then stopped and attempted to restart itself about 5 times. Our mechanic took a look at it and said there had been a fire in the fuse box. I took pictures of the charred remains of the fuse box, cover and connectors. Most of the plastic connectors under the fuse box could not be removed because they had melted and were fused onto the box. He noted the fire seemed to originate from fuse 46, the headlamp driver module. For the past few years, i had been experiencing headlight and tail light issues involving bulbs that were burning out frequently or were going out then coming back on.

Car dies when driving, car wont start sometimes and hour or 2 later startsmechanic said alternator and battery are good, in parking lot and driving in the city

I own a 2003 gmc envoy. Two years ago the speedometer started sticking. It now does not keep the speed at all. My rpm (when in park) will rev up to 2 or 3rpm, my gas gauge has now started to sometimes not show i have any gas, the check engine light is on almost all the time, my air conditioner will blow out the back vent and barely come out of the front vent when i have it up full blast. And to top it off my back brake lights constantly burn out.. I have read numerous forums where many people are having some of these same issues but no recall. I don't understand that at all. I definitely think these bad instrument panels call for a recall!! this is a safety issue. I eventually had to cut a hole in the plastic over the speedometer and before it quit completely working when we would go on vacation, we would have to pull over on busy highways every 20 minutes or so to set the speedometer back to zero so it wouldn't show me going 120mph. Of course i can't even do that now. I'm just amazed i haven't ended up with a ticket for my speed or my running or brake lights. We have taken the envoy in to the shop and they told us we would have to take the car in to a gm dealer. I have to take it back in this week to have air worked on and who knows how much that will cost. I don't believe i should be responsible to pay over $500 for parts and labor in a car that is clearly defective and should be recalled. Please help!!

Gmc envoy 2003 speedometer is erratic and does not function at all on occasion.

Speedometer does not work anymore. I can be sitting at a stop light and the speedo will be pegged at 120mph. Or when driving it wont move at all. Sometimes...i'll start the car, and the speed will be sitting at 40 mph. Has been happening off and on since november 2007.the dealership & customer assistance (800-462-8782) will not help me. They tell me i have to buy a whole new instrument cluster ($475+) to resolve my problem. This is a very common issue with the full size vehicles (2003 and up). Gm has issuedspecial coverage adjustment #07187 ( 9/28/2007) to replace , free of charge, this bad cluster but won"t fix the same problem in their smaller suv"s.

The contact owns a 2003 gmc envoy. The contact stated that the instrument panel gauges would fail sporadically or provide inaccurate readings including the speedometer and the fuel level gauge.the vehicle was neither inspected nor repaired for the failure. The failure mileage was 105,000 and the current mileage was 110,000. Updated 5/2/11 updated 05/11/11

The vehicle was in service 3 times within 14 days, gm says the problem was the ignition switch, i say the source of the problem has not been fixed.engine stalled 6 times in moving traffic, the "abs" warning light is on, some time the "check engine soon" light comes on. Dealer replaces throttle body injection assembly. Next day the vehicle stalls again with same symptoms. Dealer replaced ignition switch again. !4 hours later engine stalls inmoving traffic.dealer installs event recording device, engine stalls and identified low ignition voltage (6.7 vs 13.6 vdc). Source of problem could not be identified, dealer says vehicle is safe to drive. We filed a lemon law claim.

The lights come on by themselves and drains the battery.two batteries have been installed.the car has had road service jump starts 3 times in 2 wks.the lights come on themselves when they'r'e off. The alternator was checked and is good. The vehicle was parked in a garage when this occurred and 1 time in a parking lot.

While driving, several indicator lights came on in the instrument panel.(abs, seatbelt, battery primarily) these lights stay on for a while and then go off, one by one.after putting the car in park, the battery life meter dropped to zero.i turned the car off and the car would not re-start.after having it towed to a repair shop, the battery itself tested that it was good.i replaced the battery, anyway, hoping it solved the issues, but the lights on the instrument panel continue to turn on while driving.aftera day or so, they turn off and then days later will come on again.i have had this car checked multiple times by two different repair shops and neither could find a solution outside of replacing the instrument panel.after searching the internet, this seems to be a known problem with this car and other gmc models have been recalled for the same problem.why hasn't the envoy been included?it's obviously a problem with this model as well.(although, other than the airbag recall, i have never received notices about any other recalls regarding my vehicle even though it appears there have been other issues).

Hi, i am driving a 2003 gmc envoy.i bought new back in 2003 within the last 2 months the tachometer and speedometer has not been working properly. I called a local dealerthey told meno recalls for the 2003 gmc envoy.i checked on- line it seems its a problem with gm suv's and pick-ups .the recall is for other gm models and makes but not the gmc envoythat is not fair to meand others who own the same vehicle model as i do. Could you please look into this i have noway knowing how fast i am going it could be a safety hazard. Thank you. I hope you can help me and other gmgmc envoy owners.

Vehicle caught fire under dash somewhere without vehicle being turned on.

The contact owns a 2003 gmc envoy.the contact stated that the speedometer would provide erroneous readings of 120 mph and the tachometer provided an erroneous reading of zero.the vehicle was not taken to the dealer to have a diagnostic performed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 121,000 and the approximate current mileage was 128,000.

The electric wiring for the windows and side mirrors will start making a clicking noise and when i put the key into the ignition and turn the key just one turn the front passenger window goes completely down and will not go back up until it is done clicking and turning the heated seats on and off. The regulator is not broke. Also the side mirrors even though they are programmed will sometimes just start moving and act like it cant move anymore and make a noise. The music and or radio will go out while its turned on, it will cut in and out and then after driving a while it wont cut in and out. For the window to just roll down it usually happens after it sat all night. Wont go back up for at least 2 minutes and you can see the door lights flicker and click.

The contact owns a 2003 gmc envoy. The contact stated that the fuel gauge malfunctioned and failed to provide the correct fuel level reading.the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The technician diagnosed that the fuel sensor and the instrument cluster needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure.the failure mileage was 115,000.

I was driving down the road and fist off, my speedometer went crazy. Then my fuel gauge went all the way to full, then to empty. Then it wouldn't work at all. There was plenty of gas in the tank too, i took to a mechanic and he replaced thermostat, but it didn't fix the problem. I'm still having the problem and heard there is a recall on the 2005-2007, and it appears i'm having the same problem on this 2003 that they are having now with the newer ones and the 2003 should be included in a recall. Please evaluate. I only have 107k miles on the truck. I was told, a recall could cover up to 120k miles, so i still have some way to go before i should not be included in the recall. My service engine light is staying on too, although it's been checked numerous times and it's always something to do with the fuel system and too expensive to get fixed. Now i am having major problems because of it.

Tach gauge for speedometer started befaulty.read inaccurate to my speed.

Failure of 2003 gmc envoy speedometer.

2003 gmc envoy.the speedometer only works intermittently.it may stick in one spot.other times it is consistently off by a given speed.the next day it may be working fine.this has been going on for over a year and seems to be occurring more frequently as the vehicle ages.the internet is littered with others all having the same issue.it looks like a us district court awarded owners of many other gm models with the same issue a settlement (see http://www.gmspeedometerrecall.com/).the envoy was not included, although the issue is the same.cost for repairing is apparently in the $700 range.as for consequences, i see 2 possibilities.i could receive an unwarranted speeding ticket.the other consequence is the major distraction it causes.the only way to tell if it is working at times is to watch it closely.if the needle isn't moving when i accelerate i know not to trust it.drivers shouldn't be staring at their speedometer when driving.

2003 gmc envoy with 65,000 milesi have a speedometer that is erratic in reading speed.gets stuck at 35 mph as "0" or registers -10 mph from actual speed.this problem varies from one to the other every time i restart the engine. I also have a weird clicking sound that comes from the dash area on occasion.

Theenvoy speedometer registers 18 mph in the parked position.it will not return to 0.i have 45,000 miles onthe cle and it has been regularly serviced by the same dealership.

The contact owns a 2003 gmc envoy.while driving approximately 65 mph, the speedometer displayed inaccurate readings.there were no warnings prior to this failure.the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for diagnostic testing, which indicated that the failure was related to the odometer sticking.the dealer recommended that the instrument panel be replaced.the vehicle has not been repaired.the contact was concerned of the safety risk involved.the failure mileage was 53,028 and current mileage was 60,200.updated 12/08/08.*ljupdated 12/09/08.

Speedometer is working erratically on my 2003 gmc envoy.has been for almost a yr.this needs to be classified as a recall.i know several people with the same vehicle that are experiencing this very same problem.

The odometer has been malfunctioning for 2 years it will workand sometimes it will not. I would be going in speeds of over 50mph and the odometer would read 20mph. Or i would goabout 30mph it would read100mph or over.it will erratically do this. Sometimes it works fine.i have not fixed the problem yet. It is working right now.

Speedometer and dashboard failure on 2003 gmc envoy occurring spontaneously at approximately 50,000 miles.gm dealer would replace for $350 plus labor last january when vehicle had less than 70,000.00.unable to afford this cost after a general service, however the complaint is filed with gm dealership in jan 2009.car is now over 70,000.miles.i am realizing that this is not an isolated situation and there have been many complaints.is there a commitment from gm that they will repair this issue forcars with mileage under 70,000.00? i believe this issue should be investigated for a re-call regardless of mileage.please direct me with the appropriate action measures so that i may remedy this situation promptly.

Gmc envoy 55,000 miles, speedometer no longer works.erratic behavior, varying from reporting speed of 30 mph at idle, to 0 mph on the highway.

2003 gmc envoy with a list of problems **nar**ccthe consumer began to hear a knocking and pinging in the engine on cold starts and felt a hesitation when the automatic transmission shifted into gear. After many complaints, it was finally discovered the engine knock was due to shorter pistons in the re-designed engine and the hesitation in the transmission shifting required reprogramming. The consumer was told he would have to live with the engine knock, because it could be more trouble taking the engine apart. On a separate occasion, the engine stalled due to the battery dying.from april 2004 to october 2004 the battery failed several times and had to be re-charged. During that same time the engine light illuminated and each time it happened, the dealer would have to reprogram the engine computer.the radio was not functioning properly which primarily consisted of static.the driver information center control knobs as well as the radio knobs wore out.the front center console was loose.it was discovered that the engine light was coming on because the third stop light that's on the top of the liftgate malfunctioned. There was a short circuit in the stop light. The cooling fan broke, the brakes and the left front head lamp had to be replaced. The rear tail lights, directional and signal lights have been replaced several times. The lug nut broke while a replacement tire was being mounted on the vehicle. The front stabilizer linkage was replaced.the gas tank had to be replaced along with the fuel lines and a seal on the tank due to a leak. The seat belt was designed poorly and the belt cuts into the consumers neck. The drivers side door didn't close properly, the windshield wipers were replaced within the first 2 years.

While driving at any speed engine checklight came on and stayed on. Dealer checked this problem on three occasions.on each occasion the spark plugs were changed, and the battery cable bolt was replaced.

Consumer complained about a horn problem. The horn worked intermittently.dealer was unable to duplicate the problem 3 times, but was able to correct the problem on thefourth time.

Faulty wiring in brake light caused vehicle to catch on fire.gm has offered to repair but i still don't feel it is safe.

The instrument panel speedometer light came on and off without prior warning.

Due to a brake pressure modulator valve problem (open/shorted circuit), the abs system engages at about 8 mph in low speed stopping situations on wet and dry driving surfaces causing temporary engine stalling and power steering control loss and lengthened distance needed to stop, increasing the risk of crash.

I noticed a electrical burning smell while driving on a side street. The engine made an unusual noise so i pulled over, turned the car off and put on the hazard lights. It started with engine misfiring causing engine to jolt which damaged #4 coil pack seal to failed allowing water intrusion. In 2008, the gmc mechanic replaced all six coils seals but in 2013-present p0440engine code is aleak in the evaporative emission (evap). Loose fuel tank filler cap is the most common cause that triggers the p0440 code. I failed a few smog check spending hundreds of thousands of dollars yet my problem still existence. I've contacted the bureau of automotive repair because purrfect auto in fullerton,ca lied about fixing my car. The bar made purrfect auto replace the gas tank and gas cap yet the engine light is still on displaying code p0440. Its been14 years and i'm still dealing with this problem.

My 2003 gmc envoy just turns off at any given moment. Out of no where, while driving, waiting at a red light or stopped at a stop sign my car just shuts down/turns off. It's been doing this for years. Very dangerous and unsafe. Secondly the "service engine soon" light on my 2003 gmc remains on. Took it into been serviced by the gmc dealer service department and they couldn't figure out the problem. Now i cannot get my car to pass inspection nor get it register. This is a major problem.

Car dies when driving, car wont start sometimes and hour or 2 later startsmechanic said alternator and battery are good, in parking lot and driving in the city

Gradual coolant loss over time and no evidence of leak. This was due to a crack in the cylinder head that gm admitted to knowing about in tsb 06-06-01-019b on june 12, 2007). Coolant was slowly leaking into the oil, but was unnoticeable until it started to affect oil pressure from the oil becoming slushy and ruining the engine. This ended up resulting in resulted in the low engine oil light suddenly coming on and the car to stop running on a highway. The engine started steaming and the car was overheating. Mechanic is now saying the engine is in an unoperableshape due to driving with continued low oil pressure (no light had appeared until day of incident). Gm had sent out a bulletin admitting to the issue but did nothing to notify their customers. They should immediately recall the affected vehicles and/or pay for a replacement. I had just put in a new transmission to my gmc envoy, expecting it to last for years.

Check engine light illuminated on instrument cluster.diagnostics indicated a code po 442.this code is indicative of a fuel system leak in the evaporative emission system.replaced gas cap.problem not resolved.filled vehicle with gasoline in october 2010 and several times since.strong odor of gasoline is present.each time fuel nozzle fails to shut off fuel from gasoline pump and gasoline is spilled on the ground near driver side rear door creating an environmental and major safety hazard.vehicle never in accident or modified in any way. Vehicle has 62,000 miles.a courtesy general motors repair program is in place for these vehicles if the long wheelbase models.numerous occurrences in the short wheelbase models also.this is a known defect according to the gm dealer that services the vehicle, but they want over $1500 to replace the fuel tank and the tank unit which includes the fuel pump, gauge, and hose connections.there is no guaranteethis will fix the diagnostic code that sets the check engine lamp, or the problem of gasoline leakage/spillage.the vehicle will not pass a state safety inspection and therefore is not allowed on the road.a forced recall should absolutely be made for these vehicles.at a cost of over $35,000 for this vehicle, and the hazards it represents, it is a total travesty that gm refuses to stand behind their product.

2 complaintsnoticed enginee running hot, added fluid to radiator, near empty.a couple of months later, same thing.3 months later, during oil change, mechanic indicated while doing checks that the radiator fluid was low.told him this was the third time, he added fluid, pressure checked radiator - no holes or leaks.seems to be evaporating.air conditioner blowing hot air (excluding the fact the panel with ac controls quick working a loooonng time ago).took in to dealer for repair.after $600 and all day visit with dealer, the piece broken was the size of a 2"-4" block of plastic.this little piece just quick working, it was referred as a control switch of some sort under the dash board.sounded kinda hokey to me - i can imagine a compressor going out and you do not have cold air - the name of it escapes me - but the mechanic did indicate there was some sort of technical report out there on it as well.just found out from husband the name of the piece - the actuator door quit.

Car: gmc envoy 2003when driving on a highway check engine light came on. "reduced power" light came on too. Engine rpms dropped down to 1100. Barely avoided crash.made it to the parking lot. Restarted engine few times same problem.executed "clear change oil light" procedure few times. It cleared "check engine" light and everything is normal now.the vehicle is equipped with "change oil" timer and light. It appears that when timer expired the computer rather than turning "change oil" light on enables "check engine" light and drastically reduces engine power. When it happens on a highway it can easily lead to a crash.i plan to take the vehicle to a dealership in two days.thank you.

I own a 2003 envoy sle.we have had repeated problems with this vehicle vibrating and making engine noise.i have taken the vehicle to two different service departments (repeated times).one finally recognized that the noise existed.after they drove two other envoys they determined that the noise was inherent to the vehicle.the sound is like a bubbling metallic sound that cannot be good for the vehicle.nothing has been done to correct the failure, i have been told to live with it.

All of a sudden the power steering of the envoy slt 2003 was completely interrupted due to a broken shaft in the power steering pump. As a result the serpentine belt slipped on the edge of the power steering pump pulley and was wearing out quickly, which would have resulted in a broken belt.

While driving at any speed engine checklight came on and stayed on. Dealer checked this problem on three occasions.on each occasion the spark plugs were changed, and the battery cable bolt was replaced.

After starting the vehicle, letting it warm, the consumer entered the highway at 65 mph , the vehicle suddenly lost power, the check engine light and the engine power reduced light came on.the vehicle would only do 10 mph.the consumer will have the vehicle serviced since this is the second occurrence.whenever the vehicle was cold, the engine light would come on and then the vehicle would lose total speed. *sc

2003 gmc envoy sle with 42,000 miles. Check 4 wdrive light came on then went back off. Dealer stated that the tccm had to be reprogrammed due to a bulletin. It cost me out of pocket no warranties cover this. Also the fan clutches went out but was replaced by extended warranties. I'm also told by dealer that the steering links are worn & should be replaced. This too is at my cost. I have only had this car 1 year. These happened with just a few weeks of each other.

Air conditioning runs hot- there is a technical service bulletin out for this but it needs to be an open recall to be fixed--- needs reflash for control head-that's what my mechanic said.

Air conditioner intermitentlly blows warm air.this air conditioning failure has been reported several times to the two dealers i have my 2003 gmc envoy serviced:beck & masten and champion pontiac gmc.the dealers said the problem was a bad switch that they replaced each time i complain of the air conditioning failure.

While driving about 65 mph on the highwayengine check light appeared on the dashboard.

Vehicle overheating evident when traveling for long distances; with repeated checking starting with the dealer, they were unable to confirm diagnosis of problem whichrepeatedly got worse and after checking with a reputable repair shop problem has to do with gasket problem and cylinder head warping .

Driving on us highway 20 at posted speed limit 55mph. Vehicle suddenly loses power with no response to accelerator inputs. Heavy traffic and limited pull off area. Vehicle will restart, drive 1-2 miles same problem. Gas gauge 1/3 full. No trouble codes. 3 occurrences in week. Vehicle is now parked in garage. Odometer less than 56000 miles. Each time no dash lights displayed. Message center displays stop engine.

While stopped the engine ran at 900 rpm's. After the brake was released the rpm's climbed to 1100 and the vehicle accelerated suddenly.the dealer replaced the fuel emissions canister once, and reset the electrical codes, and replaced the fuel tank, but the problem recurred.

2003 gmc envoy - check engine light & reduced engine power light.vehicle slows to 20 mph losing power.my daughter was almost hit in the side of the vehicle as she lost power in the intersection.thankfully, the oncoming vehicle was able to stop.

One week ago ipurchaseda 2003 envoy sle 4wd, it has 200 miles on it currently and noticed upon delivery that a molding around the drivers side door is crooked. And 2 days ago i noticed a large puddle of fresh oil under my vehicle, and my oil light went on this morning. I haven't even had this vehicle for one week and i have to take it in for repairs. This does not make me feel overly comfortable about my purchase.

I am the owner of a 2003 gmc envoy slt, 2wd, and i have had my vehicle into the dealership three times for a problem which i consider an extreme safety hazard.my vehicle has now failed for a 4th time and the dealer refuses to admit that they cannot fix the problem.my vehicle loses power as i am accelerating on to highways and i have almost been hit by trucks on two separate occasions pulling out on to a highway as i am unable to go over about 10 mph and have to pull off the roadway.the vehicle was in for a third time for that same problem back in january.the dealer had it for a week and put over 400 miles on my vehicle to find out what was causing the problem.the same problem is happening again, 6 times in 3 days, and the service manager will not admit its the same problem since so much time has elapsed.after i lose power, my "reduced engine power" and my "service engine soon" lights come on.i must pull over and turn my engine completely off and then back on again.the "reduced engine power" light goes out but the "service engine soon" light remains on. The first two times the dealer had the vehicle i do not believe they replaced any parts as they felt it was a computer problem.the third time they had the vehicle they did replace some part, but it was never fully explained to me what they replaced.since this is a safety hazard to me and my family, i feel that this problem should be reported to you in case i am involved in an accident and injuries do occur, i want it on record that this problem is occurring with this vehicle.**please note that the incident date i have entered was the last date it has occurred, i just started keeping a log since it started happening again**

Throat of gas tank leaking on a 2003 envoy.reviewing internet, found many similar problems on the envoy's and stated in 2007 that nhtsa was investigating.mechanic stated very unusual to leak in that spot.also, have replaced both head light sockets due to burning up.have talked to many envoy owners with the same problem.when bulb burns out and the recommended bulb is put in place the socket and wiring gets so hot that the socket is charred and is no longer functional.wires have to be cut and a new socket wired in.

The contact owns a 2003 gmc envoy.the contact smelled gasoline, but did not pay it any attention initially.his son entered the vehicle later and also smelled the strong odor.the following day the contact filled up the tank with gasoline and the smell intensified.when he arrived home, he noticed a fuel leak by the rear driver side wheel.a mechanic stated that the leak originated from the top of the fuel tank where the fuel pump connects.the contact dropped the vehicle off at the dealer the next day and they stated that the leak originated from the gas tank, and it needed to be completely replaced.the vehicle is still at the dealer.the current and failure mileages were 59,000. Updated 04/16/08.*ljthe transmission was slipping and would not engage in 1st gear. The air condtion was blowing hot air. The ignition swithc shorted out.

Air conditioning runs hot- there is a technical service bulletin out for this but it needs to be an open recall to be fixed--- needs reflash for control head-that's what my mechanic said.

Wind noise coming through driver and passenger windows.molding was replaced and noise wasn't reduced.dealer stated, gm knows about the problem and seem to believe that the mirrors are causing wind to be redirected to the window.therefore wind is coming through where the glass goes inside the door.not satisfied with this car, can't even drive with the radio turned down.also the low-pressure sensor in the air conditioner unit was replaced, after a half-pound of freon was required. This vehicle has been in the shop four times!!!

*sc

The consumer was trying to change a flat tire in the rear of the vehicle and noticed thatjack handle is too short, causing the consumers body to be almost under the vehicle.

The contact owns a 2003 gmc envoy. On three separate occasions, the low beam headlamps failed without warning. When the passenger's side turn signal was activated, the four-way hazard indicator illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure was intermittent. 2003 envoy drivers side headlight bulbs keep burning out . Wires are burnt and terminal has melted. This past week both headlights have gone out while driving took vehicle to dealer they said they knew there was a problem with the headlight socket but my vehicle wasn't one of the of the 308 others that were recalled.

Headlights stopped working (low beams only) while driving car at night. High beams continue to work after outage.occurs at all headlight settings, almost every time the headlights are used and does not resolve itself upon turning car on/off.

The contact owns a 2003 gmc envoy. While driving at 55 mph, the low beam headlights were activated and unexpectedly failed to illuminate. The high beam headlights were engaged. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who stated that the low beam headlight module would need to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 192,000.

Riding on freeway and headlights suddenly went off in dark area. Cut on fog lamps and headlights came back on after couple miles of travel. They have not went off yet again but would be dangerous on curve road. Problem maybe in turn signal control. Cruise went out day before and came back. All located in same switch. Called gmc and told them of problem. Have not went off again yet. Talked to dealer and they want to see it with problem.

The contact owns a 2003 gmc envoy. After parking the vehicle and attempting to exit, the driver and passenger side doors failed to unlock. In addition, while driving 45 mph, the headlights blinked on and off and failed to remain illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 188,343. The vin was not available.

Consumer states:have a recall for tail lamps/stop lamps bottom lights , they were replaced, however, the top lamps are bad also. It was intermittent sometimes the top lamp would work and other times it would not.

1.the air bag dummy light is on 2.the relay switch keeps going bad on my regular headlights, but the brights will turn on 3.rear driver side door popped open on the highway while driving with my 12 year old nephew in the backseat.will not latch shut.

The contact owns a 2003 gmc envoy.while driving at any speed, the headlights on the vehicle will suddenly shut off.the high beams do not fail when the headlights shut off.the vehicle has not been diagnosed by the dealer.there were no warnings prior to the failure.the current mileage was 129,087 and failure mileage was 127,000.

No damage to turn signal when i turn on left turn signal sometimes it doesn't work sometimes i can move steering wheel and it will come on for second other times nothing have to try to turn off and on sometimes works sometimes doesn't can not get a good reason why won't work. Have automotive experience at trouble shooting. Also nonsafety issue cruse control on blinker on same switch intermittent working

Headlights and brake lights went out at same time. High beams work, vehicle runs, has all powers. This happened when i left the house, while driving, noticed when it began to turn into early evening.

The standard headlamps inconsistently and often shut off.the bright lamps remain working, thank goodness.this happens usually when in motion, or right when the ignition is turned on.weather does not seem to be a factor.

When trailer is connected to the 7 way to box trailer connection trailer tail lamps do not light correctly. Brake and left turn signal lamps work properly. The right turn trailer lamp is partially lit when turn signal is not engaged. When right turn signal is engaged theleft and right turn signals start flashing, brake lights work normal. This turn signal issue apply only when trailer electric circuit is plunged in to the trailer circuit.my understanding there was a recall regarding the flasher unit for the 2003 envoy vehicle turn signals. It appears the trailer circuit has a similar issue. Both the vehicle and trailer work off the same flasher module. See recall 05v198000. I plan to replace theflasher unit to correct this defect. If you never towed a trailer this issue would not be discovered. When towing a trailer driver could become confused when your making a right turn. This potentially could result in an accident. The trailer used was a 5x10 foot single axle box trailer withfour wire electrical circuit. I had no issues when towed with a different make of truck. I did replacedboth trailer tail light assembly and issue did not change.

Faulty wiring in brake light caused vehicle to catch on fire.gm has offered to repair but i still don't feel it is safe.

Recall 2003 gmc envoy potential tail lamp failure.*mrthe consumer stated thisis a recall issue and she has been waiting since feburary tohave the problem repaired.

Driver applied the turn signal and the turn signal failed to work properly. Driver noticed that the right turn signal would come and off on its own. Driver took the vehicle to the dealer, andmechanic determined that the turn signal unit needed to be replaced.

Also every time i fill my gas tank, gas comes back up and spills out, it does not matter if i leave the nozzle in, take it out immediately, and i am never topping the tank off.when i had it back to the dealer they said they were unaware of any problems. *la

Had gas pouring from 2003 gmc envoy. The sending return part is bad, the gmc dealer said part is over $400 and has to be ordered from california, my warranty does not cover it and from what i have read on here, it has been quite a few envoys with the same problem. My envoy was originally a lease and came from pa which we were not told. We were told the warranty we purchased covered bumper to bumper but does not, the part will be 5 days coming and meantime, i have no car to drive until ?i get it back. I think since the gas leaks so much, and could have caused a fire or and an explosion something needs to be done. Thank you for any information you may be able to offer.

1) check engine light!2) advised the gas cap was probably not tightened properly system reset and light appeared in 100 miles. Technician found gm service bulletin 05-06-04-014a: info - diagnostic aids for trouble codes p0440, p0455 & / or p0442 fuel was leaking from the crack2002 - 2004 envoy may have issues with a crack in the gas tank filler neck3) replaced fuel tank at my expense as gm would do nothing. Technician advised that the filler neck broke off completely with minimal pressure*tw

Smelling of gas and leaking on ground, as i'm reading this is a common problem which is very serious. I really think gm needs to include this 2003 gmc envoyas part of their recall as well. This has been going on for years it looks like and nothing has been recalled.guess human life is not important.gm needs to recall this problem asap before someone gets hurt.

Smell of fuel when car is running. Will be taking todealership did have injector seals replaced hoping that was problem did not fix . Worried there will be fire . While transporting my grandchild. Will follow up with more info but it looks like fuel tank.

The contact owns a 2003 gmc envoy.while driving approximately 60 mph on normal road conditions, the contact smelled a strong odor of fuel coming from outside of the vehicle.the check engine warning indicator illuminated on the instrument panel and remained lit until the engine was turned off.the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing and the technician stated that the fuel tank needed to be replaced.the vehicle has not been repaired.the vin was unknown.the failure mileage was unknown and current mileage was 90,000.

Defective fuel tank. Leaks fuel.

2003 envoy slt-135,000 miles --ses light on, local mechanicsaid small evap code indicated inlet checkvalve fracture- they said go to gm dealer for help with this, info printout fromlocal mechanic given to me- "all data motor" said recall spec. Coverage for ext. Size modelsof envoysetc. Offered by gm for period of 10 yrs or 150,000 miles.(also 11/04 they did work warranty work on code 440 and replaced seals, tank unit, i think they caused this because i was having the ses light on&off years and just told loose gas cap- so i bought a new one but now this!dealer looked and said "no" after i was there for 5 hrs. Said i could buy a new gas tank @ $1200. I said i didn't have the money. Told i could call gm so i did. Thought i would get"goodwill" help for same problem as they paid for the extended models. I talked to two reps .rep said my vin was listed in the coverage range of #'s but not my model. But she proceeded to take my info in order to get me some help..dealer called me back 4 days later in a hurry to look at it again with another mechanic that apparently their district gm person said to do. The home office for the gm service person called them with my complaint. They still looked at it and saw the gas leak at the icv and then still just told me "no" that my model didn't qualify for help like the extended envoys did. I told them it appeared to be the same engineering problem so why wouldn't my model be covered? my service repjust said i would have to buy a tank. I said "no". He said just keep the gas tank below half full. So that is what i have done for the past week. I don't want to trigger that ses light by filling up the tank near that hose inlet. This does not make sense that they will not cover this problem for my model- is there some big difference on extended length? maybe enough short envoys and trailblazers haven't sought help for the same problem. Is the engineering design of gastank and icv different on the short and long model envoy??

Fuel leak coming from top of gas tank. I suspect it is the fuel pump module. Severe rust and limited visibility prevented me from identifying 100 percent. Talked to gm, they know of the problem but since it happened 14,000 miles beyond their extended special warranty for this, they will do nothing. Bad design is a bad design regardless of miles or years. Very dangerous having a leak this bad. Will fix myself when i come up with the money.

Need to know if the recall of the gas tank applies to my envoy.

At start up, when car is cold, there is a strong fuel smell. Was told it was something in vapor recovery system.

2003 gmc envoy filler neck leaking.this is a known issue and there is a recall.when i took my truck to the dealership it had this issue but the recall is for the xl model.this is a major safety issue.how can they mess around with leaking gas?it is a 1200+ repair that should be covered.

Fuel leak due to corrosion of the fuel pump/sender assembly.

In 2010 after filling my gas tank in my very well kept/serviced 2003 gmc envoy i began driving home and noticed that my gas gauge wasn't working. The tank was full but the fuel gauge read below the empty. After tapping on the instrument panel, restarting the vehicle, checking fuses, etc nothing worked so i took it to the shop and was advised that gmc has known about this problem for quite some time and won't do anything about it. Either the fuel sending unit or the sensor is bad and must be replaced at a cost $500 - $600. After doing some research i see that this is quite the problem amongst gmc vehicle owners and confirmed that gmc will do nothing about it... Now my fuel gauge reads differently at every time the vehicle is started; but it never reads correctly.... This should be investigated and gmc should step up and take responsibility for their inferior parts....

Leaking fuel at the fuel filler neck on the fuel tank.

Strong smell of fuel coming from behind the driver side rear door. Check engine light on when code is checked... States small emission leak present. Upon doing a little web research find it to be caused by a leaking fuel tank. Appears to have a recall on tank for xl model which inturn is the same tank but the sle model is not covered under recall.if original recall was issued for safety concern why not comply for all models.

My gas gauge has been inaccurately giving the proper fuel level. Today i noticed the gauge is now stuck way past the "full" level" and does not move.

Vehicle is a 2003 gmc envoy.gas fumes were noticed coming from the rear of the vehicle.also, check engine light came on.took vehicle to gm dealer and was told that there was a crack in the plastic gas tank near the filler neck.was told that gm has been having problems with this but no recalls or repair bulletins.therefore, since vehicle was out of warranty i would have to pay $1350.00 for repairs.i see this as a safety issue. Gm should be recalling these plastic gas tanks and replacing them at no cost to the customer as this is a safety issue.the vehicle could catch on fire!note: vehicle was not in any traffic accidents or used for off-road driving or abused in any way.gas tank should not have cracked.also, i have seen many other similar complaints on the internet identical to this one so it is a common problem to the envoy and trailblazer family.

The contact owns a 2003 gmc envoy.the contact stated that the vehicle would start after a few seconds.she also noticed a gaseous odor and a fuel leak underneath the vehicle.the mechanic stated that a rusted fuel module caused the failure and he replaced the fuel module.there had been no other occurrences.the current and failure mileages were 65,417.

Gas fumes coming from 2003 gmc envoy.took to service department at authorized dealer.gm refuses to fix problem which is covered under service bulletin 07076/nhtsa item #10026522.gm customer service refuses to replace tank that is cracked due to corrosion caused by fuel tank modular reservoir.service bulletin state all repairs will be made with no charge to the customer.envoy has been in the repair shop for 5 days.

2003 gmc envoy.consumer writes in regards to fuel tank leak issues.updated 02/02/16.

We have a 2003 gmc envoy slt. Everytime we put gas in the vehicle it doesn't shut off like it should. The gas will overflow and go all on the vehicle and all on the ground. We have owned the truck for approx. 1.5 months. This happens everytime we get gas. I have never had a vehicle do this everytime. It has been from different gas stations.

When driving my 2003 envoy it smelled strongly of gas and upon parking, it was leaking gas all over the ground, i had it towed and the sending unit was bad, if it had sparked or there had been an aec, it could have caught fire and the cost is $ 1000.00 and i have to pay out of pocket. The first extended service corporation will not cover it, the warranty was falsely offered to me by the sales rep at waestcott buickburlington nc and was costly and worthless. The envoy was a lease out of pa, which also was not disclosed to us. This has been a huge cost and disappointment.

I have 2003 gmc envoy, smell gas fumes when gas tank is half full, no gas is leaking on the ground.will chevy cover some of these repairs? seems like a number of owners have this same problem,.

I could smell a gasoline odor around my 2003 envoy (45,860 miles).took vehicle to coulter of tempe (an authorized gm dealer) and was advised of a leak at fuel inlet to tank pipe area.was told gas tank would need to be replaced.gm has had a similar problem with the 2003 envoy xls and issued a letter dated june 2007 covering the entire amount of replacing these fuel tanks for 10 years or 150,000 miles.this coverage should be extended to all 2003 envoys and a possible recall issued as this leak at the fuel filler neck seam at the tank is not easily identified unless vehicle is hoisted on a lift.they did offer us a deal where we were charged a warranty deductible of $500, but i feel this repair should have been covered in its entirety.

Hello,i am second owner of gmc envoy sle 2003 car. Couple months ago the light check engine soon started appears and disappear after filling gas and several trips. June this year i went to dealer service from where i buy the car three years ago .they fixed some thing (housing and / or gasket, thermostat replace and for campaign 07076: fuel sender module update t5714 fuel sender assy replacement and etc). After 600 miles the light appears again and stays steady.i called to my dealer, but now the dealer is out of business. I went to other service. The service advisor sad me that the reason for the light on is the car has gas tank leaking near fuel filler tube area may be from corrosion or crack and that's mean near $1500 for brand new tank and service and couple days for delivery the tank. Because i don't understood very well the explanations and didn't know how dangerous this leaking is i left very upset without repaired.i called to gmc to ask: is it normal for 7-th year old car to change the gas tank. I think this is ridiculous. (after own the car, three year ago, i didn't hit it.) follow discussion with two departments and after all i understood: this is my problem and responsibility is mine. That is it.thank you.

I took my vehicle to the gmc dealership because of a distinct gas odor by the vehicle.i had previously received a cautionary letter from gmc that there could be a problem with the fuel pump involving pooling and pitting and extending the warranty to ten years to correct the defect.the inspectionat the dealership stated that there was a "fuel leak from the top of the fuel tank area-fuel pump module leaking" the service advisor was sufficiently concerned to offer me a replacement vehicle to drive until the repair was made. He said that if i were to hit something and create a spark i could be in jeopardy.i was also concerned about a stray cigarette butt thrown out a window.he also gave me the customer assurance telephone number to call to file a claim.i did call the next morning and information was given and i was given a case number and told that the "district " would call me.when i received the call from that office she told me they would call me the following day.ten minutes later she called back and said that gm would not offer any assistance.they obviously knew there was a potentialproblem or they would not have sent out warning letters.i believe it should have been a recall considering the potential hazards involved.i wonder how many people did not read the letter and subsequently had repairs made at their own expense so they never reported the problem.it was a costly repair and i feel they should have covered the expense.i count myself lucky that it is not my serviving family filing this complaint.

We smelled gas fumes and was losing fuel out of the top of gas tank. The fuel tank was removed and we found gas standing on top of the tank. We found the fuel pump had rusted and the metal lines coming out of the pum was leaking. We order a new pump and filter installed them and put fuel tank back in truck. Now it is ok no fumes or leaks.

The contact owns a 2003 gmc envoy. The contact stated while driving approximately 30 mph, the check engine light would illuminate and the vehicle would stall on numerous occasions. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who replaced the fuel pump. The repairs did not remedy the failure. The independent diagnosed that the fuel tank needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vin was unavailable. The approximate failure mileage was 137,000.

Smelled fuel for several weeks. It gradually got worse, from just smelling it when i was outside the vehicle to smelling inside. Took to gm dealership in town. The dealership replaced the fuel sending unit. It had corroded to the point that when fuel was pumping it pumped fuel onto the top of the tank. $750.00 was the bill.

Fuel pump module (fuel sending unit) corrodes and leaks fuel. And give faulty reading at the gas reading gauge. Not able to check if tank is empty.

I bought a 2003 envoy xl 11 days before the incident.we went into a restaurant, came back out after eating and the car would not start.i was 150 miles away from home.the car had less than 1000 miles on it and had to be towed away. I had to leave the car, get a rental (which was paid for), and was told it was the fuel pump, which the dealer stated they had never had happen before.i told the dealer i was not comfortable with that car, but was told this was a unheard of problem.

2003 gmc envoy.fuel leak.began smelling strong fuel odor.per shop, fuel leak.result: had to replace fuel tank / pump.old part is not available.

While traveling consumer smelled a fuel odor inside vehicle. Consumer pulled vehicle over, and noticed fuel leaking from under vehicle . Dealership serviced vehicle, and noticed fuel line was disconnected.

When i fill my envoy with gas, it will not stop when it is full. The gas then spills over onto the side of the suv and causes me to clean it immediately and smell like gas. I know that it is the suv and not the pump because it doesn't happen with my other vehicle at the same pump.

Dt*:the contact stated while driving 10 mph the vehicle stalled and was maneuvered off the road.when the vehicle was being prepared to be towed the towman noticed gas leaking.the dealer confirmed the leak and determined the tank shifted causing the gas line to crack.the dealer replaced the entire gas tank which corrected the problem.

There seems to be an overwhelming amount of error code po442 in the 2003 gmc envoy and chevy trailblazers.this code is a faulty gas tank that over time develops a small leak.the only way to fix it is to replace the tank.this cost anywhere between $1000 - $1500 to replace.if there is a gas leak there can be a fire!!!

I own a 2003 gmc envoy. I am the original owner. The service engine light came on so we visited the local dealership to find out what was wrong. Upon testing the vehicle there was a crack found at the stem of the fuel tank. It had been leaking fuel and loosing pressure causing the light to illuminate. The repair bill is around $1400 fora safety hazard that was no fault of mine. The service manager said that it was a bad design due to epa regulations on venting the cap and that he had seen many of these. I contacted gm and they were not willing to help. They offered a discount on a new or used car. There is no current recall but the more i look into this, there have been many issues of this happening. This problem could kill many people.

My 2003 gmc envoy has a defective fuel tank. According to the dealer the tank has a small crack in the vapor recovery line. Dealerand gmc claims that it is not a hazzard but there is a very strong gasoline oder when the vehicle is started or stoped and it continues for some time until the engine is warm.dealer claims the tank is being redesigned gmc will not confirm or deny.what i know is the part has an expected but not definet 4 to 6 week delivery time.

Engine light came on to let me know that i needed to get the vehicle to the repair shop.i took the car in and they found that the gas tank had a crack at the top portion.the gas tank was replaced.

There is a fueling problem with the vehicle.the problem is intermittent but happens regularly enough (30% to 40% of the time) to have the potential to be a safety hazard or cause serious physical hazard to the operator.the vehicle on occasion will not accept gas into the fuel tank and then will immediately cut off the fuel supply and then back up and splash fuel out onto the operator while attempting to fuel the vehicle.it may take numerous attempts before the tank will accept the fuel, all the while splashing fuel out of the filler on each attempt.on other occasions, the tank, as it approaches full, will just splash gas out of the fuel filler without warning or any indication without cutting off the gas pump fill hose as it normally would.this condition can be a serious physical and health hazard to the operator since gas gets on the skin and the cloths of the operator, causing a burning sensation and subjecting the operator to other safety concerns.the fuel spill can also be considered an environmental and fire hazard. A number of different gas pumps and gas stations have been tried with the same results during fueling.this would rule out a problem with one pump or filling station causing the problem.the problem has even occurred in different cities.

When filling up the gas tank, often times the pump will not stop and the pump will run about 3-5 seconds longer than it should, causing gas to spill.dealer checked and found no problems (but saw on the website another user experienced the same thing).

A cracking has occurred where the gasoline filler tube connects to the tank. That caused a vacuum leak, which caused the service engine soon light toilluminate. Dealership has diagnosed, and confirmed cracking and advised gasoline leaking could occur andrecommends replacing tank. 1.vacuum leak renders gasoline tank emissions system inefficient.2. If gasoline leak occurs, it is then a fire hazard. The dealership communicated to us, he has seen similar failures in that vehicle model (gmc envoy).

Dt*:the contact stated while pumping fuel into the tank, gasoline was noticed dripping under the vehicle.the vehicle was driven to the dealer who determined there was a crack at the base of the filler pipe and the tank needed to be replaced.

The contact owns a 2003 gmc envoy.the contact stated while driving at unknown speeds, the driver and passenger doors independently flew open. The contact was holding onto the door while driving until she was able to bring the vehicle to a stop. The dealer advised having a diagnostic performed on the vehicle to determine the cause of failure. In addition, when filling the fuel tank, the gasoline would spew back out of the filler tune and onto the contact. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 60,000 and the current mileage was 180,000.

When putting gas in the vehicle it spills over.

Vehicle: 2003 gmc envoyfailure: speedometor and fuel gauge stopped working.the dealer states this is a very common problem and gm known about this defect but refuse to do anything about it.the instrument cluster needs to be replaced , approx cost of repair is $500 (part & labor).i am very uncomfortable to drive not knowing how fast i am going especially when drive with my baby in gmc envoy.

I have 03 gmc envoy that i take very good care of. I have been smelling gas lately and not seen any gas leaking. The gas odor gradually has been getting stronger and stronger. Eventually i was able to tell that there is a gas leak, but is only leaking a small amount while the truck is running. Now my envoy reeks of gasoline all the time outside and sometimes inside when the heat is on and idling. Seems the gas pools on an indent on top of the gas tank and when i pull into my driveway(down a steep hill and sharp turn) it all pours out. Seems that everyone is having the same type problems. Seems to me this is a bad design on gm's behalf.......maybe they will step up to the plate and fix this obvious defect. I wonder if they still produce them like this? i can only assume that this affects so many other models. Yikes! that's a lot of people who are in danger or got stuck with a lofty repair bill.

*sc

Fuel pump module (fuel sending unit) corrodes and leaks fuel. And give faulty reading at the gas reading gauge. Not able to check if tank is empty.

2 years ago the maintenance required light has been on, when checked by 2-3 mechanics they said it could be the gas cap. That didn't remedy the situation, the light stayed on, then recently the fuel gauge started dropping to empty after a little less than half a tank was used. Then filling the gas tank caused it to overflow if you fill it to full. As of today the car when shifted into reverse, something came loose inside the shifter, now it is stuck in neutral.

My car is reaping with the smell of gas on the inside and outside of the car. I called gm customer care center about this problem being hazardous and all they offered was a $150 voucher available at the gmc dealership. I am confused as to why 2006/2007 models were recalled for this matter and the 2003 model was not recalled. I am afraid to drive this car because i believe it will explode!

Some times when the brakes are applied the throttle also advances causing unwanted acceleration. Happens at low speeds. Have there been any factory recalls for this problem?

The contact owns a 2003 gmc envoy. After refueling the vehicle, there was a strong fuel odor present. The contact noticed the fuel tank was leaking fuel. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired.the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 120,000.

I smell gas all the time when i am driving

Leaking fuel on tank at fuel neck...fuel fumes, fuel on ground may cause fire, not environmentally safe as fuel is dumping on the ground where ever you drive

Check engine light stays on. Had a diagnostic done and they said there's a gas leak coming from the gas tank fuel inlet valve. Common problem for the gmc envoy and correction involves replacing the whole fuel tank costing an average $1,400. Dangerous to drive if left untreated. Called gmc corporate and i didn't get any help. They said my envoy was not under any recalls. They should be held responsible for this defect.

Crack in filler neck where it attaches to the gas tank.

Bulletin no.:14423date: november 2015part number: 15077622 tank, fuel (18.7 gal.) the icv islocated above the full fuel level. A fractured icv could allow fuel vapors to pass through anddroplets of fuel to accumulate on the side of the fuel tank as it passes over the fracture during refueling. If the icv fractures, the vehicle's service engine soon (ses) light may illuminate, and you may notice a fuel odor and/or a few drops of fuel on the ground when refueling the vehicle.this has happen to me and now my tank needs to be replaced. This is a known issue with gmc envoy regardless of year or how long they are in service. The company needs to be held accountable for poor quality of parts especially when it is a safety concern and hazard with fuel odor coming into the cab of the vehicle and spilling out when going up a hill. Being told to only fill my gas tank up half to three quarters full due to that part being broken is the wrong answer. In motion when i smell gas and then notice it when i fill the vehicle up and it started pouring out.

In 2013 we took r vehicle to get smoged it wouldn't pass the mechanic said there is a crack in the gas tank and they can use some stuff on it to patch it ,now a year goes by my son is using the car putting gas in the at the station and another lady tells him your leaking gas took it to the chevy in tracy ca they said there was nothing they could do there was a recall on this vehicle and they couldn't do anything about it and my husband told them we never received a recall notice about this and he said there was nothing they could do and it would cost us 1600.00 now my gmc is setting in my driveway and we r too afraid to drive it that it will catch on fire and its undrivable the neck going to the gas tank is cracked , my son drove this vehicle with his baby for quite awhile and this has scared me to death i think gmc needs to make this right and fix this problem on my car we would of taken it in right away if we had know about it and that there was a recall.

Noticed strong fuel odor coming from vehicle.upon diagnosis at third party service provider, was informed of leak at fuel tank.known issue per gm bulletin 07076, but was informed by gm that vehicle mileage exceeds coverage parameters per gm ref#[xxx].information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

I started experiencing a strong smell of gasoline while driving and when the vehicles was shut down. When i first noticed the odor i could not see any visible leaks under the vehicle, after about a week i started noticing drips of fuel under the vehicle. I crawled under the vehicle to find the leak and noticed a very fine spray of gasoline coming from the top of the tank. I then dropped the fuel tank and noticed that tube from the fuel pump was corroded to the point that it was spraying gasoline while under pressure. The fuel pump is located in a low point on the top of the tank which allows for road debris/salt and water to sit and erode these tubes on the top of the fuel pump. This is a very dangerous problem as all it would take is any form of ignition to cause an uncontrollable fire. Gm should be required to repair this under a mandated recall due to the severity of this problem.

The contact owns a 2003 gmc envoy. The contact stated that an odor of gasoline fuel was present inside and outside of the vehicle. The contact inspected the vehicle and discovered a fuel leak from the top driver's side of the fuel tank. The failure mileage was 73,000.

The fuel fill line is broken from the gas tank. I was filling the tank for holiday travel and the the tank began to leak. Every tank that is ordered by the repair shop is damaged in the same place

I have a 03 envoy sxl that smelled like gas, the dealer stated there was a crack in the hose.i had that replaced and now it leaks gas going downhill.as i saw others are having the same issues and most if not all that has suv's have children.if the same model part was recalled on the trailblazer why not envoy's? gmc should recall all cars that has the model number to fix the problem before they go up in flames with our children.

Where the top of the nesk of the fuel tank meets the fuel pump it is broken where the 2 meet. Fuel vapors, as well as actual fuel leaking on the ground r both present. Stationary , as well as, in motion.

I filled the gas tank with gas, and when i was driving, i got this smell of gasoline. And when i got out to check the vehicle, i saw that the inlet check valve (icv) was fractured. And it was leaking gasoline.and 2 or 3 days after i had the check engine light on, with the code p0442.

The first time the wind noise became such an issue is when the car had only a few thousand miles on it and i was driving on an interstate with a stiff cross wind.the noise was so loud that when i tried to use the onstar to call the dealer and have him listen to the noise, the onstar kept saying slower please, slower please even though i wasnt yet speaking.it was the wind the onstar was listening to.i have visited the dealer in moorehead several times and the gmc place in minot to try to stop the noise and the have reduced the wind noise but i still get an unacceptable level of noise.i have to take a vacation day to take the vehicle into the dealer 90 miles away and then even tho i know they are trying, they just seem to move the noise around.a car that windows for almost 40k should be at least as quiet as my daughter 6 year old neon. Wouldn't you say?i believe that this vehicle will never be quiet unless you are traveling less than 30 mph down the road and with the wind. I have visited the dealer ship at least 4 times for this specific problem and they have replaced windo seals and liners as well as bending the doors but i am not satisfied.they say i am an isolated complaint but in the small town i live in there is only one other 2003 envoy and the owner says her noise is even worse. After 2 1/2 years and 18000 miles how much more should i have to endure?

Dear sir/madam,i have a 2003 gmc envoy slt model 4.2l v6 4wd and as i was backing into my garage i heard a loud bang and whinning noise and i now have no reverse gear and when i select the drive gear on the automatic transmission i have a whinning noise, i have read the blogs on this issue and i believe that gm and gmc are very aware of this problem, this repair will cost me up to $2,800.00 plus tax to have the transmission removed and a re-manufactured on replaced on my vehicle. I was just glad that this matter happened at my residence and not on some back road in west va., i believe that as stated, gm and gmc is very aware of the problem with the 4l603 transmission that were used in these vehicles' and the problem with the sun-shell and the reaction sun gears that are like a grenade exploding inside the transmission. I would like for a recall to be started on this problem and the owners to be paid back on all of these repairs.the consumer stated the air ride suspension that was installed on the vehicle is dangerous. The air ride suspension deflated on both sides on the rear of the vehicle, which caused the vehicle to bottom out on stops.updated 07/08/15

With about 1100 miles on my brand new car , the 4wd light came on. Not happy about this purchase.

The contact owns a 2003 gmc envoy.the contact stated that the vehicle lost all power after an attempt was made to shift gears from drive to park . The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 175,000. The current mileage was 175,000.

The gear shift selector cable became disengaged from the transmission while backing out of a parking spot.according to my mechanic, there is a small plastic bushing that became brittle and fell off causing the failure of the cable to maintain a connection with the transmission.this caused my transmission to become locked in the park position and unable to be moved into any other drive.while i was in a safe location, i'm concerned that other drivers in similar situations will become stranded in locations that are not safe.i conducted a recall search and found that this item has not been recalled.i placed a call to general motors and lodged a complaint.according to gm, they have received a number of complaints about this issue but are not issuing a recall at this time.i asked gm to provide me the number of complaints they have received about this and they declined to give me that information.i am seeking to file this complaint, have it reviewed, and determine whether a recall should be issued for this vehicle.

Electronic problem with 4wd was supposedly corrected in 2004, transfer case for 4wd was replaced in april 2005, and 4wd failed again during first day trying to use it during icy conditions after it was "repaired" in april.had to drive on dangerous, slick roads without 4wd from fairbanks to palmer, ak.this is a major safety issue in alaska where winter driving can be very hazardous without 4wd.have had it into dealer several times for loud squeak under vehicle when making turns or going over bumps at slow speeds.no corrective action by dealer.could not get vehicle out of "park".had to have it towed to dealership.they disconnected something and told me to be careful because whatever they did would allow the vehicle to be put into "drive" without having brakes engaged!had to drive it this way for several weeks until they got replacement part.have had other problems with climate control, wind noise around windows, and more.none repaired satisfactorily.

Shift cable broke between the shifter and the transmission while shifting from drive to reverse to park on a street.if this had happen while shifting down gear to lower speed while driving down a hill, a loss of control of the vehicle would have happen that would have led to a crash with extreme property damage and most likely driver and passenger injury and possible death.the vehicle was towed to ourisman chevrolet in marlow heights maryland for repair after the tow truck driver manually shifted the transmission into drive from underneath the vehicle that would've been extremely dangerous for the tow driver to doif the vehicle had been facing down hill or in a heavy traffic situation.for some reason, however, my vehicle still hasn't been repaired nor have i've been given a reason as to why.

Problems with vehicle's windshield wipers.*mr the consumer noticed that everytime the windshield wipers were used, they would bounce across the windshield so much that the consumer was unable to see and in order for them to be used, the consumer had to keep turning them on and off to see properly.the vehicle was taken to the dealer at least four times to have the wipers adjusted and replaced. The last time however, it was determined that there was a bow in the windshield and it needed to be replaced.after having the windshield replaced, the consumer continued to experience problems. There was a film on the windshield and when the wipers were used, the consumer could not see properly.on two occasions the 4wd/a4wd light illuminated and the vehicle was stuck in 4wd and then all the lights went out and the transmission was slipping.the vehicle was taken to the dealer and the computer had to be reprogrammed.the consumer also stated the rear wipers failed and the dealer found a nut loose and the front washer hose did not work and there was a kink in it. There was noise coming from the windows, although the dealer said it was coming from the mirrors.

Parked 2003 gmc envoy at work. Left work, unable to start truck. Starter did not engage. Unable to move transmission from park to neutral with key in on position and foot on brake. Truck is stuck in park.

Upon starting the vehicleand taking off the gear shifted, and then dropped down to the correct gear it shouldhave be in. Transmission was replaced within the first six months. Also, starter made a clicking noise several times before starting. Then the vehicle shut down.

The transmission failed in my 2003 gmc envoy with 82,000 miles.the problem appears to the sunshell gear which seems to be a common failure with this transmission.because the transmission was downshifting hard, i took the car to a gmc dealer less than 1000 miles ago to have the transmission looked at.i was told my the dealer that there was a problem but not to worry about it.now the transmission has no reverse and the repair estimate is $1,800.

Vehicle shifted gears without applyingthe brakes.

The transmission failed in my 2003 gmc envoy with approx 95,000 miles. While driving down the road i went to pass a slow moving vehicle. As the transmission down shifted there was a "bang" so i pulled over to look under the truck, and made sure nothing had fallen off. I got back in the s.u.v. And made my way back home with no problem. The next day when i went to back out of my drive way there was no reverse. I called a local gm dealership and was told that the problem appears to the sunshell gear. According to multiple post online, seems to be a common failure among envoy's and trailblazer. I checked the fluid and it appears to be fine, not low, not burnt, and still red and clean.

It appears that the transmission/solenoid failed. The suv does not always go into gear. Slips out of gear. After suv sits for a while it goes into gear only to resort back to afore mentioned problem.

I have a 2003 gmc envoy, 80,700 miles original owner. While merging onto highway transmission locked in 2nd gear. Engine rpm's increased to 5,000speed dropped to 20 mph creating a dangerous situation with oncoming traffic. This happened without warning or any indication of a problem. Ihad vehicle towed to gmc dealer, asked if there were any known problems with gmc envoy transmissions and was told there were none.the diagnosis, my transmission exploded internally with a failure of the sun shell gear and torque converter.transmission could not be rebuilt and the cost of installing a re manufactured transmission was $3700!gm has been having these transmission failures since 2002 with no acknowledgment of liability!

When driving transmission kept slipping out of gear.dealer could not resolve the problem.

I own a gmc envoy xl. The transmission will not hold the car on an incline. In drive, the car will accelerate backwards down a hill.*la

The contact owns a 2003 gmc envoy. The contact was driving approximately 15 mph approaching a stop signal there was a slight loss of engine power. The contact was able to continue driving. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the fan clutch was replaced. The failure recurred after 20,000 miles after the replacement of the fan clutch by an independent mechanic. Recently, the identical failure occurred for the third time. The manufacturer advised the contact to trade-in the vehicle and they would offer her a $1,400 certificate. The contact was displeased with the response from the manufacturer. The vehicle was notrepaired. There was concern of a potential safety hazard. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.

When my vehicle had less than 200 miles on it the check four wheel drive light came on. Whe had only had the car for less than a week. I asked the dealer and they said that as long as it was running fine the would put it on the computer at my 3,000 mile checkup. A few weeks later i started hearing a rubbing noise. I brought it in and they took it for a test drive. They told me that they had swiched it from 2 wd to 4wd high and the noise was gone. It was not. The next day i switched it into awd and there was no noise. That afternoon the front wheels locked up on me when i was going about 30 mph. We had the vehicle towed back to the dealership. They told us that the front differental was litteraly falling apart and have now said they are going to replace the transfer case. The milage on our envoy is 1263. Needless to say, i am not happy. I purchased a new vehicle so i would not have problems. I have only had it for a month.

Steering failed when in 4 wheel hialso front wheels lockedthere was a rubbing noise under the vehicle. Sounded like the transmission was falling apart.had this problem before and told by the dealer can't find anything wrong. Had this vehicle only 4 months. Major problems with 4 wheel drive.

I purchased my 2003 envoy in may 2003.soon afterwards i started getting a feedback through the gas pedial.it was kind of like a vibratipon.they said it was the drive shaft so they replaced it.that didn't help.each time i take it in they say it something different, but the problem still has not been resolved.it has been worked on three times for this and i am planning on taking it back in again.

The contact owns a 2003 gmc envoy. The contact stated that while driving approximately 45 mph, he attempted to brake and the front end of the vehicle released smoke. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic, who performed a diagnostic test and located the failure at the front driveshaft housing. The front drive shaft housing axel was broken. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that there were no recalls addressing the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and the current mileages were 95,000.

While driving the 4 wheel driveautomatically engaged. The consumer tried to manually disengage it several times.the dealership was notified, but has been unable to resolve the problem.please provide any additional information.

My husband and i purchased a 2030 envoy slt in may 2003.the 4 wheel service light has come on twice.the first time, it was repaired.the 2nd time it came on, we were told we have no 4 wheel drive.we have been in contact with gmc customer service dept (1-866-996-9463, our representative is brandy johnson and our ref $ is 1-127444813).the resolution; we need to wait until the service 4 wheel drive light comes on again so we can take it into the dealer (if they are open) so a "code" can be read.i feel with winter coming, this issue has now turned into a safety issue as we will use this vehicle daily to take our son to daycare and go to work.i would appreciate any input you could assist me with as i strongly feel this vehicle should be replaced.

When the light went out on the 4-wheel drive, the consumer had to the shut vehicle off and restart the 4-wheel drive.during snow conditions, the owner found out the vehicle would not shift to 4 wheel drive when the indicator light was on. In order to restore 4 wheel drive the vehicle must be shut down and started again until it lights up . The vehicle has been worked on three times with no repair orders provided.

With about 1100 miles on my brand new car , the 4wd light came on. Not happy about this purchase.

4-wheel drive light, my 2003 $35,000 envoy's service 4-wheel drive light came on the first time at 574 miles.the second time at 4,242 miles.the third time at 6,490 miles.the fourth time at 9,387 miles.it was then towed in for a fifth time just after that for several other problems.it went through three ignition switches in one week.it has had the transfer case modules, actuators, front hubs and more done.it has been reprogramed each time as well.i have only owned the vehicle for 9 months.i contacted gm about this and was told about a repurchase then told no.i hate my envoy and i will never purchase another gm product!!!!!!!everyone that asks me about it i tell them my story so i hope it gets around how bad this is and how bad this sucks!my dealership has been helpful but the reps from gm suck!i was never given a reason as to why the gm rep (moiz ahmad) said "no"and i was told that he not only doesn't have to give a reason that he doesn't have to call me when i asked for him to.and...they will not give me any information to even contact this guy."they don't have to".then when i complained that this was "unexceptable" and asked to speak with a supervisor the supervisor hung up on me!!!i was not very suprised to see that i am not the only one with this problem.i looked up the service bulletins and recalls (at alldata.com) and there were several bulletins on this.gm needs to get the envoys act together!!!!i am going through ny state lemon law now.wish me luck!

While driving down freeway my check 4wd light came on. So now it is in the dealership for 2 days, with only 1600 miles on the vehicle... No4 wheel drive ever used yet...it not going the way i expected for the price of this vehicle.

The consumer experienced a problem with the four wheel drive. The owner says that the light for servicing comes on and the vehicle has been to the dealer for servicing on 9 occasions in the last 18 months. The dealership doesn't seem to know what the problem is all about.the diagnosis are as followed:on three occasions no problem was found, there were three transfer case repairs, there was a faulty ignition switch found related, wiring had to be replaced and a vdb was installed. *sc

I was making a slow left hand turn from a stop sign and my 2003 gmc envoydrive train had locked up causing the vehicle to come to a dead stop in the middle of the road.when this occurred i noticed the lights flashing for the 4wd and 4lo switch even though the switch had not been touched.the vehicle corrected itself and 15 sec later as i was making a left turn into my driveway the vehicle drive train locked up once again.to remedy this i put the car in park and there was a loud clunk and the lights went out and operation went back to normal.

Entering straight stretch of 2 lane hwy.,i swerved to miss object in my lane and part of adjacent lane. I could not straighten up vehicle. The vehicle rolled and struck a tree. The engine was off and the air bags did not inflate. My door was damaged and had to be cut off to free myself. The envoy was totaled. My wife's harness did not hold and she was facing the rear between the front seats. The side air bags and front air bags did not work. The vehicle was well maintained with new tires and brakes. I was life flighted, and my wife was carried by ambulance to the hospital where we sustained multiple injuries.

The contact owns a 2003 gmc envoy.while driving 19 mph, another vehicle crashed into the passenger side of the contact's vehicle.the air bags failed to deploy.she stated that the driver side seat belt did not restrain her during the crash.the driver sustained a concussion, whiplash, and multiple contusions.the manufacturer inspected the vehicle, but were unable to determine the cause of failure.the vehicle was destroyed.the vin and engine size were unknown.the failure and current mileages were 29,000.

I bought the vehicle in march of 2012. The passenger seat belt will not work and i use them for car seats now which places my lil ones at risk since they may not be properly fastened in because this seat belt should function.also my back hatchback door doesn't latch properly unless i slam it down hard. If i don't gate ajar light comes on and i hear it loose. The latch system has fallen apart due to the slamming. Window part also does this so i don't use it. I can't believe there are no recalls to fix these safety hazards.

My spouse was driving down s/b on rt 313 @ rt 290 maryland. He hit a deer and rolled my envoy and the air bags never deployed.my son was in front passager set with a set belt on and when the envoy rolled his set belt did not hold him on. My spouse told me the anit-lock breaks did not engage when he slam on the breaks .

The driver's side seat belt was inoperative.the belt continuously stuck in the holster.the dealership replaced the entire seat belt system, but the problem remained.the seat belt locked into place when the vehicle was in the park position. *scc

Driver side seat belt retractor failed intermittently.

We purchased a brand new 2003 gmc envoy with a third row of seats.in the manual it indicates that there are seat belt adjusters on the back of the seats to shorten the height at which the seatbelt comes across the passenger.these adjusters are not included in our car.we noticed this issue when a child sat in the back seat (one of the reasons for purchasing a 7 passenger vehicle) and the seatbelt came across their face.we brought the car to a dealer only to be told that we were correct the adjusters were not installed (a manufacturer's default), but that there was nothing that could be done to install them at this point.we now have a brand new car that we cannot use for the purpose for which it was purchased.the car is completely covered under warranty and we strongly consider this a safety issue.i know of a couple of other owners that have the same problem.if i child (or even an adult) were to sit in those seats without adjusting the height of the seat belt it could be very dangerous.

While sitting in traffic consumer's vehicle was struck in the rear, causing it to strike a another vehicle in the rear.consumer sustained torn ligaments in the neck. Rear middle seat position seat belt holding a css becamedetachedalmost dislodging the css which was anchored at the top by a tether strap attached to the seat. Dt:the contact stated when he tried to pull the rear center seat belt it only came out about three inches and stopped.the vehicle was taken to the dealership to be repaired.they replaced the entire seat belt assembly.he noticed the problem a couple of weeks ago when he was trying to move a child safety seat over.gm stated the warranty didnot cover seat belts and there was no recall, but they may reimburse him for the seat belt.updated 11/29/2005 - the consumer had never used the center seat belt before.updated 11/29/2005 - the consumer still has the old seat belt in his possession.the part number is 88950971.

Gmc envoy, 2003.complaint:rear center seat/shoulder belt locks up 100% of the time.because of this anyone wearing it is "pinned" against the seat.that is, there is no movement allowed - you cannot lean foreward.this situation makes the back center position belt un-usable.i brought this to the attention of the dealer, (and they agree that it is un-wearable), but say that there is no fix.they also showed me that the same situation can be found on other envoys on their lot.i frequently carry 5 people in the vehicle and i believe it's dangerious have one of the seating positons with an un-wearable seat/shoulder belt.

Drove to work saturday night 12/07/2013 parked car at 7:30 pm went in to work .came out to my car at 10:00pm for break to see my car smoking the passengers heated seat turned it's self on at some point and was on fire burning the seat and my cooler that was sitting on the seat was on fire and smoke filled the car was making it hard to breath the smoke was thick and smelled toxic. Me and my fellow employees dumped snow on and under the seat from as far, away as we could till the smokecalmed down.to get the fire out.i am so grateful i was not driving or there was no person sitting on theseat at the time could of caused me to wreck myself or others.on my drive home could not use the heat due to the fumes being to strong with the windows up and heat on had to drive with no heat and windows down 40 minutes with the temps in the teens.

*sc

My complaint is about the abs brakes warning light and the feel of the brakes while in motion. When coming to a stop, reachibg 5mph, the brakes performance is feeling a resistant andjerky. It is as if the brakes do not want to press all the way down when completely stopping. The warning light on my dash says, "service abs brakes." this is a rather scarey feel coming from the brake peddle.

Some times when the brakes are applied the throttle also advances causing unwanted acceleration. Happens at low speeds. Have there been any factory recalls for this problem?

I was stopped at a lightwhen the car accelerated on its own, i pressedthe brake but the car would not stop .i hit car the car infront of me, i had to put car in neutral to stop the car. Car was towed to dealer, the cause was a internally shorted throttle body. The throttle body was replaced.this was the thirdtime car acceleratedon own and would not stop. The first two times my mechanic could not find any problem.

The contact owns a 2003 gmc envoy. While driving approximately 5 mph, the brake pedal vibrated and hesitated to respond when depressed. In addition, the brake pedal felt abnormally soft when applied, which required a longer stopping distance. The failure became progressively worse. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000.

Driving at approx. 2:30 pm in intermittently rainy conditions- i suddenly found myself unable to control my vehicle and had trouble seeing my surroundings even though i had new rain-x wipers on. While i applied the brakes they did not work as effectively as they should. Additionally, after the first and second impact (multiple vehicles were involved)- no air bags deployed. I was the only person in the vehicle and still the drivers side air bag did not deploy. Resulted in two fatalities in another vehicle while i suffered a head injury, facial fractures that required surgery, and a broken collar bone from the seat belt that i could not afford the medical intervention required for repair.

Where the top of the nesk of the fuel tank meets the fuel pump it is broken where the 2 meet. Fuel vapors, as well as actual fuel leaking on the ground r both present. Stationary , as well as, in motion.

The rotors on our 2003 gmc envoy completely rusted out, to the extent that they could not even be turned, 13 months after purchase.there was approximately 1/3 of the brake pads still unused.we had to replace all rotors and pads, as the rotors scored the pads.

The contact owns a 2003 gmc envoy. The contact was driving approximately 25 mph applying pressure to the brake pedal when the vehicle became difficult to stop and the brakes would exhibit an abnormal whooshing sound. 1/17/09 gmc envoy 2003 i made a sharp u-turn in a snowy yard while vehicle was in traction assist. Then i pulled into the driveway and parked, turned off the vehicle and went in the house. Was driving approx. 60 mph when a semi decided to move into my lane.i assumed i was in his blind spot so i sped up to be in front of him.when his front started moving into my lane i moved over a tiny bit onto the burm.i then turned the steering wheel a little to the right to get back into the center of the road in front of the truck.just then the steering wheel started responding to the wheels as they began small back and forth (left and right) jerks.the jerks (wheels) became larger, swirving the envoy back and forth (left and right) within the lane.this movement increased to where the car began to spin out of control accross all lanes of the freeway, luckely stopping all busy freeway traffic around me.the wheels seemed to be sliding around as if on a sheet of ice.i did my best to control the wheel to avoid going into the ditch because the envoy was swirving so much it most likely would have tipped over.the envoy did at least 5 complete donuts while the semi was heading towards me.the envoy shut down while in drive.i opened my door and waved to the semi driver.he waved back to tell me good luck and to move out of the busy freeway if i could.i put the envoy in "park" then it started back up and drove away without a scratch on it.i brought the envoy back into the dealership "preston" immediately and they said this is the 2nd or 3rd incident of the same nature.there was a envoy in their parking lot that had been only going 35mph and hit a telephone pole.i cannot emphasize the fact that this could have easily been a fatality.i thought my life was over.please do not wait to research this problem.i have absolutely no doubt there is a manufacturing problem.thank you for your cooperation in this matter.i'm sure your expediting this matter will save lives!

The key fob, used to unlock the car, will not unlock the driver side door. I can hear a clicking noise like the latch is trying to disengage, but it will not. I took vehicle to gmc dealer for an unrelated gm special service program and upon removal of the fuel tank, they found extensive rust-through adjacent to where the tank mounts to the frame. They said the "vehicle is not safe to be driven" yet it has only 100,000 miles and its exterior appears almost like-new. Dealer feels the design of the tank being mounted against the frame caused road salt, etc to get trapped where it cannot be cleaned out by undercarriage car washes. I recently contacted gmc but my complaint has not been resolved to my satisfaction. I suspect there are thousands of envoy/trailblazer (xl) models still on the road with this hidden "cancer".

Compressor for automatic load-leveling rear suspension cycles on and off intermittently while the vehicle is off. This happens even after the vehicle has been turned off for several hours.if not noticed, compressor will continue to cycle on and off and run down the battery.usually can hear a "puff" of air being released from the system right before the compressor cycles on. The compressor can stay on for as little as several seconds or for up to a few minutes. The cycle can last for what seems to be as little as 5 minutes or up to a few days so that the battery runs down if left at an airport while on vacation, for example.the only way to "break" the cycle is to drive the vehicle or turn the car on and then turn it off after several seconds. Turning the car on and off doesn't always work. But, when operating the vehicle, the compressor seems to work normally.this problem has been happening for months, i have 5,000 miles on the vehicle which was purchased 2/2003.it has been in the shop for this problem 3 times. I took it in for service at farrish gmc / pontiac yesterday (3rd time) and it is still there today. As of yet, they have been unable to fix this problem because no technical service bulletin exists to guide them. The dealership has not conducted a visual inspection of the system or its components to look for leaks or broken parts. They've only done a computer diagnostic, which found nothing wrong.however, service consultants at the dealership have witnessed the event happening and the compressor turning on and off...while the vehicle is off. Again, i need to stress that the problem is happening when the vehicle is turned off and not in use.the compressor should not even be able to turn itself on if the car is turned off.first time i brought the vehicle in for service was 7/12/2003, the second time on 8/29/2003 and then again for a third time on 10/20/2003.*la

The contact owns a 2003 gmc envoy. The contact stated that the rear suspension dropped down to the point that the vehicle was unsafe to be driven. The contact stated that if the vehicle were to drive over a bump, the tires could blow out and cause a crash. The manufacturer was aware of the failure, but offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 188,000.

The vehicle was rear-ended at about 45 mph.the back-end now fishtails, and there's tremendous body-roll with the slightest turn of the steering wheel.body work was completed to repair the beck-end, but no work has been done to the suspension.three separate trips to the dealer's service department claim that the excessive body roll is a charcteristic of the car and that there is no work to be performed.the vehicle is unstable at best, and dangerous while changing lanes at freeway speeds.

The contact owns a 2003 gmc envoy.while driving at an unknown speed, the brakes failed.the vehicle eventually stopped, but there was slippage.the rear end axle bearings and oil seals were not on the vehicle and the oil seals leaked on the brakes.the cost of the repair was $755.45.the current and failure mileages were 77,088.updated 03/04/08.*lj

Front air bag did not deploy, driving in snow slid an hit a tree was driving on a highway.

Air bag light is on.can not open rear passenger door from insideall 4 cigerett lights have stopped working.drivers window sticks going up and down.

Gas gauge is not working. Amount of gas in tank unknown due to this error, not only making driving unsafe, it is also a major inconvenience. We have replaced fuel filter in gas tank and problem still persists. Now our mechanic has suggested a new imstrument cluster.....$500 later will it be fixed?' all the while gmc knows of this problem.

My mother proceeded to enter the vehicle on the passenger side using the assistance handle in 2003 gmc envoy.the assistance handle broke off injuring (slight ligament tear) to my mother (76 years old).surgery probable.taken to dealer and assistance handle replaced.called [xxx] at gm to file complaint on thursday, june 16, 2005--was told that someone would contact me regarding this complaint--haven't heard a thing.[xxx]number is [xxx].information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

2003 gmc envoy high engine idle when slowing to stop engine will not return to idle until almost at a stop. When slowing if you do not touch the brake pedal the car will continue on a flat road at 30to 35 mph.gm answer to this point is that they all do it. I see this as a safety concern and on slipery road ccould cause the vehicle to skid not to mention unusual brake wear and fuel consumption.thaks sam mcneil.

Dt*:the contact stated that the speedometer stopped working on a consistently.the vehicle was taken to the dealer who determined that the faulty speedometer was caused by a manufacture defect of the instrument panel and cluster.the speedometer needed to be replaced.the manufacture was notified. The vehicle hasnot been repaired nor replaced.the contact found many complaints (example: #10096707) concerning the electrical system.

Speedometer was not working.took 2003 gmc envoy to dealership 4 times when it was under warranty and technician saidnothingwas wrong with speedometer.however, the speedometer stoppedon 50 mph when truckwas sitting still, sometimes higher number.called gmc regarding the speedometer,no call back, and therewasnothing they coulddo about.truck is current not under warranty.now have to pay $800 out of pocket for repairs.

While stopped the engine ran at 900 rpm's. After the brake was released the rpm's climbed to 1100 and the vehicle accelerated suddenly.the dealer replaced the fuel emissions canister once, and reset the electrical codes, and replaced the fuel tank, but the problem recurred.

Dt*:the contact stated the speedometer stopped working without warning.the dealership determined the speedometer cluster needs to be replaced.upon driving out of town for a few hours the speedometer read 120 mph in park. The contact took the vehicle to the original gmc dealership and service department. They determined it wasthe cluster that neededto be replaced, and that it would be 6-8 weeks until the part would be available because it wason back order due to the high volume of envoys and yukons thatclusters needed to be replaced.the contact felt that ifa numberofgmc vehicles had faulty clusters then perhaps it should be recalled for at leastfor sub standardreasons, if not for safety reasons.

Some times when the brakes are applied the throttle also advances causing unwanted acceleration. Happens at low speeds. Have there been any factory recalls for this problem?

Dt:the contact stated while driving, the reduce power engine and oil pressure low, check engineights illuminated.the vehicle stopped, although, the enginewas still running.the dealership was unable to diagnose a problem, butreplaced the tank gasket, gas pedal, and computer chip.this caused the contact to rear end another vehicle.

Opened up side rear window and fell out luckily i was parked and just getting ready to leave.

The vehicle was not taken to the dealer to have the failure diagnosed but was taken to an independent repair shop where the glass was replaced. Approximately one year later the failure recurred. The vehicle was not repaired for the recent failure. The failure mileage was unknown and the current mileage was 96,836.

While operating vehicle, windshield wipers will come on without warning and cannot be turned off with the standard wiper controls.is necessary to pull the wiper fuse to stop the wipers.if caught in a rain shower while in traffic with fuse pulled, have no way to turn on wipers.very dangerous.this was addressed in nhtsa reference #04v046000, but our vin was not included.because of the danger, will have to repair at my expense.

Rear wiper runs continually. Replaced switch on dash but that did not solve problem. Continual movement of the wiper blade is distracting to normal driving.

The contact owns a 2003 gmc envoy. The contact stated that the central power locks and window switches on the driver's side door would fail intermittently. A dealer was notified and informed her that the failure was likely caused by the switch panel. The vehicle was not included in any recalls and was not repaired.the failure and current mileage was 137,000.

The contact owns a 2003 gmc envoy. The contact stated that the windshield wipers activated independently impairing their vision. The failure recurred on numerous occasions. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 109,000.

My car started going nuts the wipers wouldnt turn off the seats wont move the doors wont lock the heaters off and hot air comes out tru ventilatos.

*sc

Consumer stated thatrear window shattered when trying to open it. Dealer notified.

The contact owns a 2003 gmc envoy.while driving 65 mph, the rear window glass fell halfway off the vehicle.the vehicle was pulled over before the glass fell completely off.the adhesive for the rear glass had been failing where the glass and hinge meet.the current mileage is 90,000 and failure mileage was 89,000.updated 02-01-08 updated 02/01/08

Driver's door panel no longer works, and smells like an electric fire. Check/replaced fuse = ok. All other doors works without a problem, and remote opens other three doors.driver side door is faulty, and car smells of electrical fire.i removed the fuse, to be safe for right now.

I own a2003 gmc envoy and 3 of the 4 power window motors have had to be replaced. This is a very expensive replacement at the dealership. One was replaced while under warranty but the other 2happened after the warranty expired. Each window cost was $580.00 for the motor and labor. I think that this part is defective and should be investigated.

I have a 2003 gmc envoy xl with less than 8,000 miles on it.on may 26, 2003 while driving in the rain, the front wipers quit.in a matter of seconds, i could see nothing.needless to say, it was a very dangerous situation.

Contact owns a 2003 gmc envoy. There was a recall on the windshield wiper module. There was a potential for water to leak in. When the vehicle had approximately 20,000 miles, the recall repair was performed. At 60,000 when using the windshield wiper washer, it continued to engage until the pump burned out.the windshield wiper module was disconnected. He called gm stated and told them that when the recall was performed the mechanic sealed moisture in and it corroded. The dealer confirmed that it corroded and needed to replace the wiper module. The dealer refused to repair it again at no cost to the owner. The dealer information is not available. The current and failure mileages were 75,000.updated 11/1/07

While driving driver cannot adjust the two side mirrors. Consumer learned the side mirrors couldn't be adjusted by manual movement nor power. He assumed this was a part of the vehicle. He felt this was a safety issue-driving and adjusting the mirrors with his hands. *ph *nlm

2003 gmc envoy has continuous malfunctions in the outside rear view mirrors.when using the curb assist option the mirrors do not return to the original position.when option is turned off the mirrors turn upward (toward sky) after vehicle is put into the drive position.dealer says it is my problem and gmc said do what you have to do when i threatened to contact your organization.

Consumer complaint regarding scratches on glass and rotors corroded. The mirrors continuously lost their memory position.

There is a recall on erratic wiper operation in my 2003 gmc envoy.but because my vin number wasn't included in the recall, they will not fix it. I have to pay for it, if i want fixed.sometimes the wipers don't shut off if too much moisture gets in the wiper module.should be an open recall.

Consumer received nhtsa recall campaign04v046000concerningvisibility:windshield wiper/washer. Since about a week ago consumer made an appointment for service but dealer has not had parts available.

The contact owns a 2003 gmc envoy. In rainy weather the windshield wipers are inoperative. When its sunny outside the wipers activate without intention. He has to restart the vehicle or manually reset the wipers as a temporary remedy.a dealer stated that his vehicle identification number was excluded from recall #04v046000 (visibility:windshield wiper/washer), therefore he would have to pay to have the windshield wiper module repaired. The failure mileage was 63,000.updated 12/7/09 updated 12/08/09.

Recall 04v046000/windshield wiper assembly: after taking the vehicle to the dealer for this repair washer fluid failed to operate. Consumer took the vehicle back to the dealer and learned that the dealer failed to replace the assembly.

Windshield wipers failed intermittently. Motor required sealing or replacement.the consumer received a recall notice regarding the windshield wiper motor, however it took one month to get an appointment. When the consumer did drop off the vehicle he wa assured the vehicle would be ready by the end of bushiness. The consumer received a phone from the dealer stating the vehicle had not been looked at.the consumer stated a 15 minute inspection and possibly an additional 15 minutes it the motor required sealing or replacement would have been an extra day the dealer needed to perform the repairs.

On a 2003 gmc envoy xl (vehicle mileage approx. 8900 miles), the windshield wipers were on when the switch was in the off position.the dealer replaced the wiper motor.this was the second time this problem had occurred; the first was in september 2002.at that time, the dealer also replaced the wiper motor.

Non functional wiper motor that the dealership (toby wells, pinehurst, nc) as well as other local gm dealers (silvestry, laurinburg, and joe brown, rockingham) have told me is known by gm, andcommon problem. Even with this knowledge, it still took almost 2 weeks before i could get the problem repaired

I was driving on 6/13/07 & it was raining i had thewindshield wipers on, and when it stopped raining, approximately 45 minutes later, i turned off the wipers.however, they never cut off.i tried everything turned them on & off but they continued to stay on. I tried to find the fuses but couldn't. So i went to wilton motors nearby & the service desk person came out andtook out the fuse for me. I made a appointmentfor the next day 06/14/07. I told the representativethat this vehiclehad the sameproblemas stated in the recall o & it was the same model year. I asked to speak to a supervisor , who told me the same thing except that she would contact the dealer, andthere. Iftherewas water in the module it would be covered under the warranty, when i called about the suv i was told it would cost $320.00,but because gmc didn't have it on a open recall i wouldhave to pay. They have to order the module & it must go back there tomorrow 06/15/07.i called the 800 # again & left a voice mail message explaining what the representative said.would file a lawsuitif this was not covered under the recall.

Recall 04v046000/windshield wiper visibility. Owner received notification for this recall from the manufacturer in october, 2004. Owner took the vehicle to the dealer, and had a sealer kit installed which was a patch to cover a hole for the windshield motor. Corrosion got inside because of the water leaking into the motor. Because of the leaking water it caused the p.c. Board to short out. Now the motor is dead because of the corrosion. .....

Windshield wipers were inoperative.recall 04v046000 for the windshield wiper assembly was issued. However, dealership was unsure if this vehicle's vin number was includedin the recall becauseconsumer's notification was due to begin in the third quarter of 2004. Therefore, dealership refused to repair the windshield wipers.

While parked in my garage w/ engine off. I came around the corner & heard water running. My gmc 2003 envoy's frontwindshield wipers were spraying spontaneously & wipers were running. Engine was making a loud screeching noise. Backed vehicle out of gargage & pulled out fuse. Spray stopped, but wipers still proceeded to go. Engine could have caught on fire! dealer replaced wiper motor stating it had been flooded w/ water. Previously to this event, the front wipers would go off & on even while switch was in the off position. Also, back wipers stopped working & had back wiper motor replaced too.
