On highway us-31 in muskegon county michigan, vehicle (envoy) was at almost a complete stop for a vehicle stopped ahead when struck from behind by another vehicle travelling at 70+ mph.the envoy was then pushed into the vehicle in front of the envoy.the envoy suffered major rear end damage and severe front end damage.none of the front airbags deployed.both front driver and passenger seatbelts did not restrain.the seatbelts stretched out to their limit.both front driver's seat and passenger seat twisted inwards toward the console.severe bodily injuries occurred.on 08/23/2018, gmc was made aware of this.a case was opened.the event data recorder was recovered by gmc.the edr showed the impact velocity, non-deployment of airbags and non-restraint of seatbelts.gmc then closed the case stating that because there was no traumatic brain injury, there would be no further investigation or compensation.the 2006 gmc envoy was deemed a total loss by the auto insurer.

While vehicle was running, a burn smell eminitting from driver side door. Immediately brought vehicle to local repair shop for repair. They diagnosed the smell and window failure to the driver side master switch. The repair shop used original replacement part. This month again, my switch does not work and windows currently are not working. Frustrating because gmc accepted no responsibility. I still have the old switch and receipt and should be eligible for reimbursement for the labor and replacement part cost. Thank you

Filled my gas tank up and the fuel gauge went to empty after filling. Every time i fill the tank, it goes to empty and then after driving a bit the gauge starts re-registering. I have no idea if it is accurate anymore. Evaporator purge solenoid has also went out causing the check engine light to come on. The lack of an accurate gas gauge is a safety issue. Please recall this vehicle.

Have had to have the alternator repaired three times. First time 65,000 miles because of noise. Second time voltage regulator third time rear bearing. Had to have the onboard computer replace at 90,000 miles vehicle shut down and would not restart. Towed.

Took vehicle in for recall for driver master switch.window and door lock continue to fail intermittently even after dealer says he corrected recall. The vehicle has had a history of windows, door not working and has been at the dealership multiple times, please push gmc to fix this issue. The latest letter stating this vehicle may catch fire is very concerning.

The contact owns a 2006 gmc envoy xl. The contact stated that the low beams failed to work. The contact had to use the high beams each time the failure recurred. The vehicle was included in a recall for the failure. While waiting for months, the failure occurred to the point that the low beams no longer functioned. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign numbers: 14v755000 (exterior lighting) and 14v404000 (visibility) and stated that the part needed was not available within a reasonable timeframe to schedule the recall repair. The dealer did not provide a specific date for when the part would become available. The manufacturer was notified. The contact was not able to use the low beams due to the failure. The failure mileage was not available. Ma 08/05/15updated 08/24/2015

2006 gmc envoy.consumer writes in regards to electrical system failure.the consumer stated when he/she initially took the vehicle to the dealer for the recall, there was no problem. Thirty days later, the recall work that was performed, malfunctioned. Also, there was a problem with the brake light system. Even after changing the bulb, the rear brake lights did not work even though the light on the hatch did. The consumer stated as he entered the vehicle, while it was raining, water entered the door module, which caused it short out. Eventually, the left door lock and window controls, stopped working. Updated 06/23/14.

While driving i turned on my left blinker to turn. The wiper came on and it sprayed windshield washer fluid. I put it back into the neutral position and they kept spraying and would not stop. I pulled over turned the vehicle off and back on. The wipers came back on immediately and continued to spray wind washer fluid. Then my speakers started to play a distorted sound. I turned off vehicle again about 4 more times and every time the wiper blades and spray came back on. I had to stay parked on the side of the road for about 10 minutes then they stopped. Or so i thought, as i started to drive and hit 20mph the wiper blades came on and it started spraying again till it finished the entire gallon of wind washer fluid. As i pulled into my drive way the wiper blades kept on cleaning with no liquid. I turned off the vehicle and the wiper blades continued for a few more seconds then stopped. This seems like an electrical problem and i am wondering what is my next step from here?

2006 gmc envoy engine shuts off while driving code po601 find out it's the pcm

I have experienced a check engine warning light display on what is now the third time for the same issue.the diagnostic code for each of these three check engine light displays on my 2006 gmc envoy was for a problem with the fuel tank level sensor in the fuel tank.the first time i experienced the problem, gm replaced the fuel tank level sensor unit under warranty.i experienced the same issue in the summer of 2009 with approximately 65000 miles on it.i replaced the fuel tank level sensor myself to correct the problem.again today (9-2-11) i had the check engine light come on & a code check revealed a problem with the fuel tank level sensor.the vehicle has 83000 miles on it.

I have a 2006 gmc envoy xl.upon review on the internet, there is a problem with their fuel gauge indicators.this appears to be a consistent problem, and it costs approximately $500 to repair.most complaints are happening around 45-50 thousand miles...

2006 gmc envoy xl --same problem here. It started acting up just after the warranty ran out (just under 40,000 miles)! check engine light is on because of the sensor and will not pass inspection because the light is "on" fill up tank write down mileage is getting old. Time for our stimulus from gm! do the right thing and recall the defective sensors. Fuel gauge always reads empty now --could run out of gas without knowledge anytime/anywhere.

The contact owns a 2006 gmc envoy xl. The contact stated that the power windows and power locks failed intermittently. The contact also stated that the windshield wipers would independently operate when the switch was in the off mode. In addition, the contact smelled a burning odor. The dealer discovered that the window switch was burned. The vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign number: 14v404000 (electrical system); however, the part needed for the repair was unavailable. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was unavailable.

Gas gauge reads empty after filling, then slowly moves up after driving but will continue to lose pressure until it reads empty and the light is on, then the check engine light came on.

Service stabilitrak light and service abs lights are on. Horn no longer works.

I own a 2006 gmc envoy xl. Last may of 2009 i was driving on us state 30 with my children when the driver's side door start smoking vigorously without warning.just as this happened the vehicle shut down in the middle of the highway while i was driving.i was able to restart the vehicle after a few attempts and remove it from traffic. Ithen tried to open the drivers door to get out (the handle its self was not smoking) and it would not open.i climbed into the passenger's side and manually opened the door, got out, then removed my children also. This incident was reported to gmc and their answer was that the car shutting off was designed as a safety feature. Explain how this could be safe in my situation?the consumer stated the 4-wheel drive recently failed for the fourth time in disastrous weather conditions. On february 17, 2014, the 4-wheel drive was not operating properly in a serious time of need.on february 19, 2014, after 6 1/2 hours, the problem was finally diagnosed as being the decoder motor and wiring for the fourth time since february 15, 2010. Updated 06/05/14.

The entire component on the drivers side fails to work. The windows operate from the back seat and passenger seat controls.the drivers side window does not work, the drivers door does not lock (automactically)i have a friend who has warned me not to replace the fuse as it could start a fire.i have had this checked out and the electrical component in the door needs to be replaced.

I required a jump start of my battery for the first time of many because there is an electrical short in my instrument panel to include the functions of the driver side door. According to the national highway traffic safety administration "a short in the circuit board could lead to a fire, increasing the risk of personal injury" posted in the us new reported by katie labarre on august 20, 2012. Gm has announced a recall of 250,000 suv vehicles because of this but has yet to notify any of the owners of these vehicles. Last year i had to dispute the faulty fuel gauge and now this. I've tried contacting gm and i am constantly being given the run around. Gmc 2006 envoy xl is a garbage vehicle and i regret the day i ever purchased it!!!!

2006 gmc envoy xl. Since the car was purchased there have been repeated issues with the service lights. This problem has occurred repeatedly through 2012 where a variety of lights come on. Some stop the car from starting... In 2006, service stabilitrack consistently comes on along with 3-56 other lights at the same time. I've been told the connectors are dirty, that i needed a battery replacement which was untrue. Other times the car has gone for service, noone really has the right fix. There is something wrong with all the sensors.

It had been raining all day. Ran errands and came home. After midnight, my windows wad halfway down and no power at all on drivers side.

All exterior lights flicker and fail intermittently, usually while decelerating, or applying brakes. Has been happening for 18 months. Current mileage 155,000

The contact owns a 2006 gmc envoy xl. While driving at various speeds, the vehicle stalled without warning. In order to restart the vehicle, the contact would have to jumpstart the battery. Shortly after charging the battery, the failure recurred. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer who was unable to diagnose the vehicle. The contact took the vehicle to a certified mechanic who stated that the alternator needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 123,000.

Dear sir, today while driving my 2003 envoy suv (approx 40,000 miles on the od ) i was making a left turn onto a major highway. About 3/4 way through the turn the car accelerated full speed without my help.since the roadway was wet (not raining at the time) the car sped and spun violently to the left and crashed into the concrete barrier separating the four lane highway.we ( my wife and i) hit the barrier with a strong impact but suffered no serious injury. (we were belted) this automobile is used as a towed vehicle as we travel the country in a motorhome. The car has a vary heavy and stout steel towing base plate on the front. The base plate was bent badly but it protected the car from serious damage i have been driving for some 42 years without ever having a chargeable accident. I have never experienced such a condition. If the barrier had not been there we would have collided with cars in the other lanes stopped at the red light. We realize that "sudden acceleration" has in the past been blamed on drivers. I assure you that this car took off at full throttle andthis driver did not trigger such a response. Circumstances prevented this from being a major ta with injuries. I have no axe to grind and seek no compensation of any form.now however, i am worried about driving the car without knowing what may happen. The acceleration stopped upon impact and i drove the car about a mile to my campsite without further incident. Please inform me if others have reported this condition and if there is a protocol to insure it won't happen again.thank you, michael c. Mccoy.

I am so sick of my 06 gmc envoy xl. I truly give up. I had the stabilitrak and reduced engine light come on my car for five months. I have replaced the steering wheel sensor, the throttle body, and had the relearn the idle thing done, to no avail. This makes my fourth time going to the dealer, because i thought they could fix it. I have always bought gm. If god blesses me with another opportunity to buy a car, it will not be a gm. It throws my car off. I've had to pull over and start the car over a thousand times. I've seen many forums online about this problem, but there is no recall? i've even called gm. I still had to pay money. Resetting the computer has done absolutely nothing. Just wanted to rant, because besides giving me some of my money back (to the tune of a grand), what can i do?

Steering wheel locks. It cannot be turned to the right as it will cause the entire care to swerve. When reversing the car turns in the opposite direction of where you are turning. I'm backing into traffic and have to manually pull the steering wheel as if there is a power steering issue. Engine light came on day after purchase indicating i need catalyst converter and sensor. No way to predict which way the car will turn. If i hit a bump the car swerves to the right causing me to swerve into next lane. In motion i am constantly swerving into danger.

Service stability traction system malfunction, causes stability system to not function

When turning corners on smooth asphalt the stabilitrac light comes on and engages the system which causes the vehicle to momentarily slow down and makes a "growl" sound, this also effects the steering.it may do this multiple times per turn or only once.it has occurred at varying speeds (turns at 45mph and turns at 10mph).started out only occurring during left hand turns, now happens on almost all turns.i have noticed it is much worse on windy days.the stabilitrac also kicks in when i turn onto gravel and start to speed up (not mashing the gas and spinning tires, but simply speeding up at a regular pace that should not pose problems).

Service stabilitrak light and service abs lights are on. Horn no longer works.

Fuel gauge is not working properly, it will continously move from empty to full.** 2nd complaint- i have had the engine rebuilt because of" intake manifold assembly failure" the part # is gm 12571609 and has failed twice. The last repair was 4-29-2011 the first repair was 9-15-2010 same part same problem. This repair cost was $3500.00

Gmc envoy xl - 2006 has powered down three times while driving on a major interstate at approximately 65 mph during rush hour traffic. No warning lights prior to the power down. The vehicle slows to 15 within about 60 seconds. The first time, in approximately 2008, i was able to pull over two lanes to the breakdown lane and the power came back on while i was still coasting. I was told by gmc that without the light on they couldn't do anything. The second time in early 2012, the same thing happened during rush hour - there was no breakdown lane. When i went to gmc the light went off. I was told that i had a useful life of the car and it was getting old (135,000) miles and i should replace it. They said they could not do anything. It happened again last week on the interstate. I brought my car to my regular mechanic, non gmc, who coordinated with another gmc dealer for me. They fixed some codes they said were a problem. It happened again after having the car for 2 days. They fixed it again. We don't know if it's really fixed. This is a huge problem. Gmc has no idea what they need to do to fix this. I have not seen service bulletins that relate to this. Powering down to a speed below minimum speed on a major highway is very dangerous. I do not trust this vehicle and feel very unsafe in it.somebody needs to do something about this.

Vehicle has been losing voltage when car is started and in idle position. When car is driving the voltage is always reading ok but when your at a stop light then all the instrument lights dim and the battery gets down to 10 and sometimes the car starts to stall. Brought the car to darcy motors in joliet, il and they said its normal and the envoys experience this. I don't believe this and the car is 3 yrs old and has 80k for miles and its been running fine up until the past 2mo since we have been experiencing problems. We even went to sears and purchased a new battery and it still has the same problems. I brought the envoy to autozone and pepboys and both places checked the alternator, battery and all cabled and connections and all tested good. I don't know what the problem is but gmc needs to resolve this issue asap.

I purchased this vehicle with new tires on it. Excessive tire wear was starting on the drivers side tire before the year mark of me purchasing it. There was no recalls open on that time that we could find. I have had to replace the fog lights on several occasions. It had electrical short that no one seemed to find and there was no way to locate without expensive diagnostic time. When i went to the dealer about recalls they informed me the only open was a window switch. After a front end accident at 30 mph the tire blew out on the drivers side on impact. I was informed in my estimate that there was a open recall which could lead to incorrect rim selection / tires for the car causing air leakage and possible accident. If i had known this before hand maybe this could have been prevented!

This problem is with the rear door 3rd brake light spoiler.brackets holding it on broke..believe it to be a design fault after talking with junkyards and dealers about the problem.junkyards tell me that is a big called for item, but it is dealer supplied only.safety risk of it flying off and striking another vehicle.

Faulty fuel tank sensor in my 2006 gmc envoy. Filled my truck up only for the gas gauge to read empty. Then my check engine light came on! took it to the mechanic who told me the fuel tank sensor failed and he noted it a common problem in the envoy. Its costing me 800.00 to fix this. I have done some web research and it indeed looks to be a common problem, i find this very disturbing.

I own a 2006 gmc envoy xl.approximately 1 month ago, the fuel gauge started showing empty when there was a full tank of gas.it would reset to the actual reading when i would turn the vehicle off and turn it back on.it would stay on the actual reading and then a minute later the dial would go down to empty.i've been driving the vehicle like this for a month.now the fuel gauge will not function at all.it shows empty all the time even when there is a full tank of gas.i have no idea how much gas is in my tank and it is very frustrating.i have to do quite a bit of traveling due to my nature of employment and find it dangerous to drive with this type of defect.currently, i have 81,000 miles and the warranty has expired.after some extensive research on the internet, there are thousands of other owners who have or who are having the same problem.i think gm should have a recall and fix this problem before someone gets hurt or worse.$800 is expensive for any family who has to pay out of pocket.

Ran out of gas when gauge indicated remaining full. Shortly after this situation the gauge registered erratically and then empty all the time with alarm sounding randomly.est. For repairs in the $700 range.

After exiting interstate and pulling into parking lot of our child care provider, car ran out of gas and came to a stop. Fuel gauge indicated that there was approx 1/4 tank of gas. Walked to gas station with my two children to buy a gas can and fill tank up. Gas gauge has continued to be inaccurate. When gas tank is full, the "low gas light" turns on. After driving approx 50 miles, light goes off and gauge indicated car has approx 3/4 tank, although the gas gauge fluctuates between 3/4 tank full and 1/4 tank full. We now have to set the "trip" button to 0 every time we fill the envoy with a full tank of gas and we refill when milage is at approx 250 miles. There have been times that we have added 23 gallons of gas (almost a completely empty tank) and gas gauge indicates there is still a 1/4 tank of gas left. We have not had the gas gauge fixed at this time. Have been quoted by one gmc dealer ship that cost would be $600-800.

I have a 2006 gmc envoy and i noticed when i fill the gas tank the gauge shows that i'm completely empty and my engine light goes on.my alarm for low fuel keeps going off.the car has died in the middle of traffic several times because of this. After i drive and use approx. 2 gallons of gas the gauge resets.i noticed on the internet that many people been having the same problem.

Gas guage reads empty, even after filling tank. It sometimes fluctuates, but returns to empty with the warning light on and alarm sounding. This is a 2006 envoy xl with 50,000 miles. I am greatly concerned about the vehicle running out of gas and being subsequently impacted from the rear, especially at highway speeds. I have read over 400 complaints online, affecting many vehicle years and models. When will action be taken to recall and replace the defective units? after bailing out gm with taxpayer dollars, i would expect that gm would follow the correct ethical course and both redesign and replace the unit in all the vehicle years affected;i believe an existing complaint already exists, complaint(dp10001)

I have a 2006 envoy xl that has a faulty gas gauge. It shows empty most of the time. I have contacted onstar and let them run a diagnostic of the situation. They tell me that the computerwill sense a low or empty fuel tank and shut the engine down as to not harm the engine. I have read a lot of blogs about this problem on a lot of envoys and have seen no recalls on it. Can someone explain to me why not ? i don't want a $500 bill to fix their problem of a lot of envoys. I guess they are waiting till some one gets killed to do that.

The fuel gauge does not work in my 2006 gmc envoy.one day i filled this vehicle up and the gas gauge remained on empty and for a month it would read normalsometimes, but now it stays on empty this has occurred within the last three months. I took this car to a gmc dealer and they said that the problem was the fuel gauge sensor,i have 52,000 miles on this vehicle and it's not under warranty, so this problem still remains.

I am having a problem with my gas gauge.after filling up my vehicle with fuel, the gas gauge stayed on empty and the low fuel light stayed on.sometimes the gas gauge would go up a little bit and the low fuel light will go out but normally it stays close to empty with the low fuel indicator on whether the cars fuel tank is full or half empty.i heard on the news that nhtsa was looking into the gm suv's having gas gauge problems 2 days after i first started having problems.good timing.i took my car to a repair facility and they said it is a bad sensor in the gas tank.they charged me $90 just to do the diagnostic on the problem and it would cost $600 to replace the sensor because they would have to pull the gas tank off the car.i declined to have it repair.now i have to drive a car that is close to empty all the time and have to rely on the mileage to determine when i will run our of gas.also, the dic (driver information center) audible warning bell goes "ding, ding, ding, ding" every so often while driving to warn us we are almost out of fuel, even though we are not.this can be alarming and distracting driver to look down and see what the dic is saying.it says low fuel.the repair facility i took it to have it diagnosed said there is no way to turn off the audible warning. The consumer e-mailed additional information.the consumer added additional information. I also opened a complaint directly with gmc (service request: 71-954554686) and gm offered to pay 10% to fix my gas gauge issue.since the cost is over $600 and still would have cost us $540 to fix so we declined.my wife was driving the car a few weeks ago in columbus oh and as she began to accelerate on to a freeway entrance ramp and the car turned off because it ran out of fuel.her and our 7 year old daughter were able to coast over to the side of the road but were forced to sit on the side of the highway on a narrow shoulder with cars flying past till help arrived.they were stuck there for an hour.not a safe situation.statu

The contact owns a 2006 gmc envoy xl. The contacted stated that after refueling, the fuel gauge displayed an empty reading. The failure recurred whenever the vehicle was refueled. The vehicle was never taken for failure diagnostics. The failure mileage was 35,000 and the current mileage was 81,000.

Fuel level erratic then was on emptyreplaced sensor -out of warranty.

Gas gauge for a 2006 g.m.c. Envoy read empty all the time.

Fuel meter repeatedly incorrect on 2006 gmc envoy.after filling the car, the fuel light will illuminate and the gas meter will read empty.driving will cause the gas meter to bounce between 0 - full sporadically - sometimes stopping in the middle, at 1/4, 3/4, 1/2 tank.always incorrect.very dangerous.no idea where my fuel level is at any time.

After filling the fuel tank it refused to read full - stayed on empty and now the gauge does up and down at will.also the smell of gas is coming through the air conditioner.

2006 gmc envoy xl gas gauge reads empty after filling, then slowly moves up after driving but will continue to lose pressure until it reads empty and the light is on, then the check engine light came on.

I have a 2006 gmc envoy. The gas gauge has been sticking and not showing correct gas reading. Very frustrating and after research it seems to be a common problem. Too expensive to fix. There should be re-call. Gmc will be losing a lot of business if they can't rectify this for people. What a shame!

2006 envoy - fuel gage sending unit shows e after just putting a full tank of gas in.check engine comes on then.will slowly move up to full after driving about 100 miles.

Fuel gauge started acting up and going from full to empty.within days it completely quit working and now shows empty when full.the check engine light also came on.

Gas gauge bounced around intermittently for weeks regardless offuel level. Now it just reads empty. Air compressor hasn't worked since last november. Fuel pump went out last night. Remote keyless entry has never worked. Check engine light is always on. What a lemon. Will never buy gmc ever again.

Fuel tank gauge sensor doesn't work properly.thisdefect could result in someone running out of gas and being stranded or may even cause the vehicle to stall or not start at all.

2006 gmc envoy xl - fuel gauge reads empty at all times, even after filling tank.safety concern due to not being able to accurately tell how much fuel is in tank.could possibly run out of gas on road/highway posing threat of crash/injury.

Fuel gauge fluctuates between full and empty.gauge does not show fuel levels.

Gas gauge started malfunctioning at about 50,000 miles.it was fluctuating from empty to a normal read after fill up, now it just stays on empty even after filling the tank completely. Something that has to do with the sending unit and fuel sensor.dealer wants about $800 to repair.after checking the internet, hundreds of people are complaining of the same thing.

Gas gauge failed to read the correct fuel level in the tank. Thankfully, we noticed before running out of gas on the highway. Fuel gauge would float between 1/4 and 3/4 tank so you couldn't tell how much gas you had.

I own a 2006 gmc envoy xl.we have 44000 miles on it.when we fill the gas the gauge reads full.by the time i pull off the lot the gauge starts to drop to empty.never know how much gas is in the tank.running out of gas in the middle of the night on the highway is a little scary for my wife.not to mention a huge safety issue.

The contact owns a 2006 gmc envoy. The contact stated the vehicle stalled due to lack of gasoline fuel despite that the fuel level gauge indicated that there was fuel in the vehicle. The contact stated that the needle would fluctuate back and forth between fuel levels. The contact believed there to be a problem with the fuel pump. The vehicle was not inspected or repaired. The failure and current mileage was 45,000.updtated 2/17/11 updated 02/23/11

Gas gauge does not function correctly.

The contact owns a 2006 gmc envoy xl which was purchased january 2008. She stated that the fuel gauge continued to read empty even after she added fuel to the fuel tank. The low gas warning light remained illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated it would cost over $600 to repair it. There were no recalls pertaining to the failure. The current and failure mileages were under 53,705.

The contact owns a 2006 gmc envoy xl. The contact stated that the fuel gauge would read empty when she refueled the fuel tank to capacity. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed a faulty fuel gauge and advised that the fuel system would need to be replaced. The manufacturer was not contacted and the vehicle was not repaired. Fuel gauge failure.

Filled up 06 gmc envoy with gasoline and gas gauge never made it to the fill line.now the engine light is on and the gas gauge reads empty and the gas light is now on.very concerned with the number of complaints on this site and nothing has been done by gmc.all i drive is gmc vehicles and gmc should do the right thing for its loyal customers.

The fuel tank level sensor is defective. This may result in vehicle running out of fuel, stall, being rear ended or stranded in harsh winter conditions.

The contact owns a 2006 gmc envoy xl. The contact stated that after refueling the fuel tank, the fuel gauge would fluctuate and provide erroneous fuel level readings. The vehicle was inspected by an independent mechanic and they advised him to replace the fuel pump. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and offered no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 61,240. Updated 12/12/11*ljupdated 01/18/12

Gas gauge reads empty after filling, then slowly moves up after driving but will continue to lose pressure until it reads empty and the light is on, then the check engine light came on.

Purchased vehicle in feb 2008, gas gauge fluctuations began in june 2008.now shows empty all the time, light and warning bells go off with each start and fill up.ran out of gas on march 25th, was unable to fill tank completely and still showed empty.

Fuel gauge does not work.

Noticed that the fuel gauge for the past week has been acting very strange.i had a half tank of gas and drivevery little daily (maybe 10 miles) and in 3 days it went from 1/2 tank to empty.i actually thought my gas was leaking out, but no gas spots or leaks.now, it was on empty, light came on, and started to bing, and the engine light is on also.i filled the car up and fuel light is still on and so is the engine light. Indicating a problem at the fuel gage.i love this car, i have never loved a car more...but, now reading all the huge number of people having the same problems...and the cost to have it fixed is wayyyyyyyyy more than i can pay or afford.i have been trying to figure out how i am going to pay the first half of my re taxes and my home owners insurance, i used to work for years with auto dealers and with this amount of complaints, the manufacture normally does a recall and fixes this problem.my concern is, if i keep driving it without getting it fixed will i create more problems and the bigger problem is how do i know when i am on empty since it is now always on empty??????

2006 gmc envoy fuel level indicator. Very erratic and never accurate. It will read empty with a full tank.

Had just filled the fuel tank and had driven about 5 miles when the check engine light came on and the fuel gauge had gone down to the empty mark setting off the low fuel alarm. Pulled off the road to check the gas cap, and it was installed, but loose. Discovered the o ring gasket was missing from cap. Drove another 10 miles and went to auto parts store and purchased a replacement cap. Engine check light extinguished, but fuel gauge sweeps back and forth, sometimes setting off low fuel alarm. Will call dealer on monday to see if there is a sb for this. Almost out of warranty.

The fuel gauge shows empty even when the tank is full. After the gauge has read empty for a while, the engine light then comes on. This is going to cost me 724.00 to get fixed, b/c the fuel pump needs replacing.

Gauge does not work engine gas light is always on. Gas cap indicator is on and off. Changed on 3rd gas cap.

Fuel system/gas gauge sensor failed while driving the vehicle.the failure is ongoing, as a result i have run out of gas 3 times with my small children...once in the left lane of a very busy road where i was almost rear-ended several times (speed limit on road was 55 mph).there is no warning when you are getting ready to run out of gas i.e. The low gas light is on constantly and the reminder signal does not go off.i try to gauge when i need to get gas based on miles i have driven but mileage varies depending on the type of driving that you are doing so the number of miles you get per gallon can vary greatly.all 3 times that i have run out of gas i was on my way to get gas.i have not replaced this part because it is a costly repair. In addition, i believe that this is a gmc/chevrolet faulty system.i had a 1997 chevrolet blazer and the same thing happened with the gas gauge.i also know of at least 4 other people who have gmc/chevrolet suvs and have had this same system failure.

Own a2006 gmc envoy with 40,000 miles .the sending unit in fuel tank is faulty. When you fill the tank it will say full and then it will read empty. It goes up and down but it usually reads empty and is never correct.

After filling the vehicle tank with gasoline, i started the vehicle and the gas gage immediately went to empty and the alarm sounded.the gage recovered after the level dropped to about 1/3 and operated correctly for the rest of the tank.then the gage became more erratic and has no indication of the amount in the tank.i understand that this has been a common issue with the 2006 envoy and is very expensive to repair as they must replace the fuel pump and sending unit in the tank.

2006 gmc envoy fuel gauge began behaving erratically march 14, 2010.after refueling, gauge reads empty. Usually recovers after driving 10-25 miles.difficult to know if refueling necessary.vehicle warranty recently expired. It appears there are numerous similar complaints online and it is expensive ($700 - $800) to repair.we live in a rural area and often drive routes with 20 to 60 mile stretches without service stations.this is an ongoing problem.please investigate faulty mechanism.

My 2006 gmc envoy started experiencing gas gauge problems.after a few calls and finding a website called topix.com, i see over three hundred complaints about this problem, many also at fixya.com.this is a very expensive fix and most can not afford this unless it is under warranty, which i find most are not.

Our fuel gauge on our 2006 gmc envoy xl stopped working a few months ago.the gauge will fluctuate between empty and a full tank.the estimated repair cost is over $850.

Fuel system.

2006 gmc envoy xl - fuel gage not functioning occasionally reads empty with service engine light on even after filling up.appears common issue with this model. Vehicle running out of fuel without warning can lead to serious consequences especially on highway.with numerous filed complaints, unfavorable blogs documenting the issue and gm dealers / service well aware of the problem it is time for a repair of this manufacturer's problem.

2006 gmc envoy fuel level indicator. Very erratic and never accurate. It will read empty with a full tank.

The contact owns a 2006 gmc envoy xl.the contact stated that the fuel gauge was inoperable and she was unable to determine how much gas was actually in the vehicle causing her to run out of gas intermittently.the dealer informed the contact that the vehicle was not included in any recalls.the manufacturer was made aware of the failure andno repairs were performed.the current mileage was 95,100 and the failure mileage was 94,000.

Summary:i request that nhtsa open an investigation into the performance/reliability of the fuel level sensor installed in model year 2006 gmc envoy xl vehicles. Thefuel tank level sensor is defective and could result in vehicle running out of fuel, stall, and being rear ended by another vehicle. This almost happened to me on new jersey turnpike. I was under the impression that i still had a few gallons left after numerous times the fuel light came on and off and then going back to 1/4 full.

Approximately one year ago, the fuel gauge started reading inaccurately and showing either a full tank or an empty tank. Finally it just went to the empty side of the gauge.i used the odometer to estimate gas usage and never let it go over 300 miles w/o a fill up. When i took it in for service, the repair shop dropped the fuel tank and replaced the fuel sending unit, the bill was approximately $400.00.

The fuel tank sensor module on my 2006 gmc envoy failed causing the tank level indicator to fluctuate and read improperly.the vehicle had only about 41,000 miles on it and was approximately two years old.the fix was to replace the module, at a cost of $700.this is an excessive price for a module that should have lasted longer than two years.

For about 2 years now, the gas gauge has had an issue on my 2006 envoy xl. Incorrect readings and now complete failure. Unable to use gauge, had to depend on mileage readings. No repairs attempted, due to the cost involved.

With no apparent cause, the gas gauge on my 2006 gmc envoy began fluctuating wildly. It first happenedafter i filled up with a full tank of gas- the gauge immediately went to empty and the warning light came on. Ever since, the gauge does not give accurate fuel readings- it will read full when empty, empty when full, and the needle will spike all over the place.. I consider it to be a significant safety concern- running out of gas in the middle of heavy traffic can cause serious accidents. Was diagnosed as a faulty fuel sensor in the gas tank and would cost $700 to replace.

2006 gmc envoy xlt - inaccurate and random fuel level reading while driving, resulting in the vehicle running out of fuel and causing vehicle stall with no restart.

Gm should recall all of them regardless of warranty or not?

With no apparent cause, the gas gauge on my 2006 gmc envoy began fluctuating wildly. It first happened in march of 2011 after i filled up with a full tank of gas- the gauge immediately went to empty and the warning light came on.ever since, the gauge does not give accurate fuel readings- it will read full when empty, empty when full, and the needle will spike all over the place.just recently (may of 2011) the gauge stopped working all together. It now constantly reads empty. I consider it to be a significant safety concern- running out of gas in the middle of heavy traffic can cause serious accidents.i notified gm of the problem and just today, 6/3/11 was told "not enough information exists to indicate a problem or warrant a recall." they offered no assistance to help fix the issue, which was diagnosed as a faulty fuel sensor in the gas tank and would cost $600 to replace.

The gas gauge will read empty right after the tank is filled.the gauge will then slowly go up, then go up and down randomly, resulting in never knowing how much gas is in the tank.running out of gas is a real possibility at any time.the local chevrolet dealer has diagnosed the problem as a defective sending unit, but no repair has been made yet.

Two months ago after filling up my 2006 envoy xl with gas, a previously normally functioning fuel gauge suddenly read empty and the audible warning kept sounding though i knew it had a full tank. The gauge would start to go up, but then when i would turn the vehicle off, it would read empty again. As i was driving, the gauge would fluctuate between empty and full no matter how much fuel was in the tank. A trip to the dealer showed that i had a faulty fuel sensor. They said that if i drove it around like that the vehicle could suddenly stall. I had to have the fuel sensor replaced at my own expense as it is out of warranty.

Bought the gmc envoy 2006 yesterday at 50,000 miles and filled up with gas and the gauge stayed on empty for approximately 50 miles than started to fluctuate between empty and full.

Filled suv up at gas station. Gas gauge went to full. Proceeded out of gas station when the gas gauge went to empty, gas gauge will now not stay in one place, continues to act up and mostly stays on empty and the bell rings constantly. I am unable to determine how much fuel i have and concerned that the suv will think its out of gas and shut off.

Driving on the highway after putting fuel in and fuel gauge suddenly shows empty and my vehicle stalled. The fuel guage would then show full at times then empty. Now it shows empty all the time and has stalled 3 more times while driving in traffic.

I filled up my envoy which was at 1/4 tank. When i started the vehicle the yellow low gas light came on and the bell. I shut off the vehicle and restarted it and the low gas light came right back on and the gauge remains on e.

The left rear door latch assy broke and door could not be closed. Had to replace complete assy at a cost of $191.79.

Driver had just exited a parking lot onto a main road in the evening.the car was cold, had not been used since the morning. The car failed to take power after slowing down for a light that was red than changed to green.the car was on and in drive, but failed to go further.there was no warning whatsoever. The driver braked and stopped, nearly causing the car behind to rear end the gmc.gmc driver had put flashers on immediately.the car was put in park, turned off, than restarted.the gmc was put into drive, but again would only roll.the driver put the car into gear 3 on the auto trans, than 2.in gear 2, the car moved.the gmc was immediately moved back to its parking spot.a diagnostic shows the transmission has failed.only 94,500 miles, and the gm transmission is dead.in looking on line at certain consumer data and speaking to local mechanics, all point to transmission failures on the gm suv products, including chevrolet trailblazer & gmc envoy.

The contact owns a 2006 gmc envoy xl.when the contact started the ignition, he heard a loud whining noise coming from the transmission.the failure occurred without warning whenever the vehicle was in operation.the vehicle has not been repaired.the failure mileage was 30,000 and current mileage was 37,000.

Dt*:the contact stated when the brake pedal is applied, at various speeds, the brakes jerk.the dealership replaced the brake control module and sensor, but the problem has returned.updated 4/11/2006 - the day the vehicle was purchased the consumer noticed that the stabilitrack service light and stabilitrack light was illuminated.the vehicle made noise when the brake was applied or when the vehicle accelerated.the consumer contacted the dealer and took the vehicle in to be serviced.the vehicle was returned tot he consumer and the light was off but the next day the noise returned.

The liftgate of my 2006 gmc envoy xl came apart from the body. The top plastic piece first started to appear not aligned with the actual liftgate. That continued to get worse over time and the rubber molding around the liftgate became warped. Eventually, within 3 months, the whole liftgate was not aligned and i was having issues closing it. I had to have the top molding replaced, the rubber replacedand the door welded back on properly. I was told that whatever held the liftgate on was rusted.

I own a 2006 gmc envoy and my daughter had gone out to get something out of the back. She closed the hatch and was standing there talking to my brother-in-law and the next thing you know, the whole back exploded out!it was horrifying. It sounded like a bomb going off! my daughter was shattered with glass but fortunately was not injured.

Service stabilitrak light and service abs lights are on. Horn no longer works.

Back window on my 2006 gmc envoy exploded when the tailgate was closed. Glass was not previously damaged in any way.hinges had just the day before begun making a noise when tailgate was opened and closed. My husband's hand was cut.glass flew 20 ft. Out of garage where car was parked.noise of explosion was like a lightening strike or gunshot.

Thank you
