The speed control needle was stuck between 60-120mph on 05-05-2012. Now 05-09-2012 the speed control needle is stuck at 120mph and does not return to 0mph. The vehicle has only 65,000 miles and has been to the dealership several times for panel control problems (air bag) which is still not fixed extended warranty is now expired.

Stalling out in intersection, fuel gage and speed odometer ,air bags defaulting, shacking in front end , when driving. Verry dangerous.

I was driving at 30 mph down the road and the side air bags deployed without me having an accident or hitting anything the seat belt came loose and hit my daughter breaking her glasses. There was no warning at all just a pop and all came out. My headliner is torn.

Side air bags deployed in 2005 envoy slt xl while driving down highway on four lane road. The car hit a small pot hole in the highway and they deployed. I called state trooper and he couldn't understand why they deployed either. I made a traffic report and carried it to dealership. They contacted gmac and they decline to get involved and said it was a accident. There is no damage to vehicle or wheels on truck. The front seatbelts stuck also. I was not going more then 45 miles per hour. There was a traffic light coming up and i slowed for it.

While traveling on the interstate in the evening, the speedometer became "stuck" at about 30 mph. We pulled off at a rest stop and turned off the engine, hoping that the speedometer would reset itself. Upon restarting the vehicle, the speedometer sat at 60 mph, even though we were still sitting at the rest stop--not moving. We tried turning off the engine again and this time when we restarted the vehicle, the speedometer needle "stuck" at over 120 mph--again we were not moving. The speedometer needle stayed past the 120 mph mark for the entire trip home. Fortunately, we were able to follow some friends home. A few days later, we took the car to a mechanic. He indicated that he had seen the speedometer problem before with other gmcs and he then replaced the "instrument cluster" in our vehicle. We also did a little research and discovered that several gmc models had been recalled due to problems with the speedometer, but the recalls did not appear to include the 2005 gmc envoy.

2005 gmc envoy smoke from under the dash then the blower quit blower motor resister burned up and melted wiring harness and plug atthe resister did not blow fuse replaced resister and harness 3 months later burned up resister again and harness still did not blow fuse contacted dealer they told me to change the same parts that they've seen it before i researched the wiring and consulted a electrical engineer he said the problem was at the blower motor because the resister was between the switch and the motor if the motor was worn and pulling to many amps that it would burn the harness and resister so i replaced all three items and have not had a problem since.

Air conditioner quit working on level 5, would work on level 1-4, level 5 would keep turning off.shortly after this within the same day i could smell something burning coming through the air vents.mechanics noted and showed me that the resistor plugs on the back had burned and melted together, that's what was causing the burning smell.needed a new resistor, pig tail, and blower.also my fuel gauge and rpm are broke, have not been working for the past 3 years.

I have a 2005 gmc envoy and i have had to replace a water pump, a blower motor wiring harness that melted into my truck, the lights are half out on me heater and my door panel where you put the windows up and down, the windshield wiper in the back works when it wants my speedometer is stuck on 40 even when its off and my check engine light is on and i bought this truck less than 2 years ago!

Instrument cluster stopped working. I can no longer judge speed. Tires cracked and dry rotted on sidewalls and had to be replaced at early mileage.

We started noticing after a fill up at the gas station the gas gauge still showed empty.the gauge took over an hour of driving to move up to full.in the middle of the week last week the vehicle ran out of gas and stalled. We added half a tank, but the gauge still showed empty the next few times it was driven somewhere.last weekend i filled up again and the gauge showed empty still with warning indicator on.again it took over an hour of driving for the gauge to register the tank even 3/4 full.

Speedometer on my 2005 gmc envoy xl is pegged at 120 mph and stays thereall the time even when the vehicle is off. I understand that this is a wide spread problem with gmc products. There is a service bulletin for this problem on many gmc products but dose not include the envoy line. Why is this? no accident so far but very unsafe driving a vehicle where you have no idea of how fast you are going.

I have a 2005 envoy and i am having issues with the fuel gauge and the speedometer cluster. I fill up the tank and it does not read full, it continues to read empty.while driving my son back to school with my three small children in the car the speedometer just stopped working. It was showing that i was going 120 miles when i was only going 40 ish. The other thing that shocks me is that there has not been a recall on these issues. It has to be some sort of defect because there are so many consumers with the same issues.

The speedometer fails to represent true vehicle speed.using a gps we can monitor the inaccuracy in the gauge reading. The speedometer reflects a speed of 25 when actual speed is 45.this becomes worse as the vehicle is driven as the speedometer completely fails to register speed.an identical issue was present on a 2003 chevrolet truck we own which was repaired by gm under an in-house program resulting from a lawsuit.gm has declined to repair this same problem on this model.if a driver cannot accurately determine his/her speed at any given moment the possibility for safety related instances are increased for the driver and others.

Gas gauge reads empty at most times, never gives accurate measure of tank fill. Also check engine light turns on sporadically, although diagnosis by engine tech confirms no bad codes are causing this warning light to glow. Research on the internet and talking with dealerships and mechanics have confirmed that this is a very common defective part problem that gm has not issued a recall on. Hundreds, probably thousands of frustrated drivers. It effects gmc envoys, chevy trailblazers, and other gm makes in 2004 - 2006. Thank goodness taxpayer dollars are keeping them afloat! god forbid they actually support their products and maintain customer loyalty and integrity!

This piece of crap vehicle in which the entire instrument cluster has completely failed starting with the fuel gauge.this failure then led to the failure of all the gauges minus as of rightnow the speedometer.the tac works when it wants to.gmc now has went back and wants to "fix" the sending unit only to the gas tank (gee....thanks for the rush gm considering this is a 2005 vehicle and the year is now 2013...and people have been complaining for darn close to 10 years about them now!!nice job stepping up!!).....thus correcting the gas gauge ..we hope (which i have been told will probably last for approximately 1 year...if we are lucky....oh joy for us!!!)yea...thanks gm...i now know i will have 3/4 of a tank of gas when my freakin vehicle overheats on the side of the roadway since the rest of the gauges do not work because you people will not back your g.d. Products.maybe if we are lucky enough it will overheat and melt to the ground and we will be rid of this piece of crap.no wonder everyone is going to foreign cars...why buy these piece of [xxx].i will never own another gmc as long as i breath air as soon as i am able to either sell, trade or hopefully someone will come and steal it.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

I bought a used 2005 gmc envoy xl a year ago and after three months of owning it the speedometer has quit on me while driving down the road.i drive on the interstate everyday to go to school and never know what speed i am actually traveling.at stop signs my car has jumped forward on me several times.lately the car has been shutting off for no reason.my husband is a mechanic and can not figure out what is causing this problem.we contacted a gm dealership and was told that my car and the chevy trailblazers come in with this problem all the time.we were told it would cost us between two and three thousand dollars to fix it.we can't afford that kind of money to fix something that should be fixed by general motors.it's their defect!someone is going to get seriously hurt.this is something that i have to deal with everyday while driving my two kids around.

The oil gauge went out first and the dealer stated the oil sending unit need to be replace and it would cost me over 300. 00 dollars, then next the engine coolant gauge starting going crazy. I took my car back for an oil change and was told the instrument panel cluster needs replacing. I went back to have my engine coolant gauge look at by the dealer because i did not want to be stranded somewhere with my 4 year toddler in the car and paid for the dealer to replace the engine coolant thermostat based on their instructions. Still my oil pressure gauge was pegged out and now the speedometer gauge has completely stop working, so i took my car back to the gmc dealer and was told the instrument panel cluster need to be replace and that would take care of the oil pressure gauge too. I would have to pay over $570.00 dollarsto replace instrument panel cluster and that there is no way to fix the oil pressure gauge by itself. I am very upset after being quoted and told the first time by the dealer that they could fix the oil pressure gauge at one price and now tell me that without replacing the instrument panel cluster for the speedometer gauge they are unable to repair the oil gauge. I need assistance with this problem due to this is my only vehicle in which to take my preschool child back and forth to school and many days other drives from behind have blown their horn at me due to going to slow because i am unsure what speed i am going. I was using the rpm gauge to help out but it has now stop working too. I contacted gmc about the problem but they directed me to the gmc dealer, which i am still waiting on a response from. This is a safety problem for me to be driving a car in which the instrument gauges just stop working at anytime.

The contact owns a 2005 gmc envoy xl 370. While driving approximately 30 mph, the check engine warning indicator illuminated and the engine stalled. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that there was a loose bolt within the vehicle's sensory system. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 142,000.

The contact owns a 2005 gmc envoy xl 370. The contact stated that when the ignition was turned to the on position, the speedometer displayed 35 mph when the vehicle was not in motion and the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the oil and the temperature gauges were not functioning. The failure recurred continuously. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the entire instrument panel needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

I had trouble with the gauge that shows overheating.i took the car in to put in a thermostat thinking it was the problem, but when i took it in they said that my cluster was bad and the gauges were messed up.i paid $392.00 for the cluster and $100.00 for labor.i bought this vehicle used with 119,000 miles on it on 6/20/2011 and on 2/23/2013 i had the cluster replaced with mileage of 132,356. I put on new brakes at this time since the had a habit of grabbing and making me slide and jerk to a stop.the only problem i have now is the the door locks mess up once in awhile but other than that i take my envoy in every 4000 miles for an oil change and a check up it is now 12/15/2015 and i only have 142,000 miles on it and it is still running ok.i keep checking once a month for recalls on my vehicle sometimes a dome light will come on .but not often.my envoy has not rust and the interior is in as good as it was when i purchased it from the previous owner which is in excellent condition

Bought my 05 envoy xl with about 55,000 miles since then the fuel gauge reads empty when its full. The oil pressure gauge is maxed out but it will work normal every once in a while. The speedo reads faster than im going or just maxes out. If i turn the cr off and on it will work its way back to normal for awhile. The stereo will not work if it is colder than 60 degrees out. Talked to dealership and gmc customer service they did nothing.

2005 gmc envoy speedometer failure. While driving the envoy over stevens pass ( washington state) the speedometer began reading a significantly lower speed than my wife was driving...at first she tried to speed up fearing that she had absentmindedly began to slow but soon realized that the speedometer continued to reflect even lower speeds. After going to the internet i've discovered that this has been an ongoing problem with gm trucks for the years 2003 thru 2007 and actuallythere has been a class action lawsuit filed. ( i don't know the disposition) the remedy is replacing the entire gauge cluster at a cost of around $500.seems unfair considering this is a problem of gms' and apparently kept secret while charging their customers for their problems .[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

The cluster doesn't work or works when it wants to. I have had this problem for 3 to 4 years the speedometerworks when it wants to but for the most part it doesn't. The gas gauge always reads empty and the oil pressure reads above 80. They sent me a letter yesterday to say they are now fixing the fuel gauge if you have less then 120,000 miles but i have more then that now if they would have fixed the problem years ago when they knew about it i would have been ok. They still are not fixing the speedometer and i think that is more of a safety issue then the gas gauge.

Gas gauge is constantly reading empty even when filled.

Our speedometer on our 2005 envoy has stopped working correctly. It either just stays at zero, or sometimes it will work for 10-20 minutes and then it just starts going down and down and down until it hits zero. This is a safety hazard since i don't know how fast i am going. We haven't replaced it yet.

At various speeds including at rest, instrument panel has failed and then come back up after cutting truck off and restarting it.now the speedometer and temperature gauges are greatly inaccurate. The speedometer works intermittently and the temperature gauge is always showing hot.concerning!!!

Speedometer is frozen @ 70 mph.

My speedometer gauge works when it wants. The car can be in park, however speedometer may read 30mph. Just recently i was traveling out of state and while on the interstate, my speedometer quit working and the needle went to zero. And in a like manner, on the way back, my speedometer read ten miles below my actual speed and almost caused me to get a ticket. From asking around many chevy and gmc vehicles with a similar gauge face have experience a problem with one of their gauges. Please help me. The dealership says the part cost around $300 plus the price of labor. I have had one problem after another with my gmc envoy xl 2005.

Gas gauge not working on my 2005 gmc envoy xl. From all the complaints sounds like thefuel leveling sensor went out. Only 70,000 miles . I think with all the complaints this should be a recall.

#1 problem-- i only have 40,000 miles on my car and bought it less than a year ago. My fuel tank does not work-- it floats and i never know how much gas i have in my tank#2 problem- driving home last night-- i looked down at my speedometer and it was stuck over 120 mph. I am very unhappy with gmc and tell everyone i know never to buy any chevy vehicles-- these problems should not be happening so soon on a newer vehicle.

Fails to start periodically clock returns to 12:00 all gauges work but will not turn over engine, light will flicker while driving and lurchesforward when foot is on the brake.

2005 gmc envoy xl - my car has died on me while going down the road on five different occasions.it has been to the dealer twice now, and they saythey can't find anything wrong.i feel very unsafe driving this car, and i am afraid my family or someone else could get hurt.looking online, i have found other envoys have done the same thing.one time it did lead to a death. I am hoping my complaint may be the one needed to do something about this dangerous problem. Each time someone has taken their vehicle in for this problem they get the same response i have gotten, nothing done!!my vehicle is still under warranty and i will continue to take it back in hoping they will find the problem.please investigate this.it's very scary to be going down the road and your car just dying on you for no reason.

Informed by mechanic that exhaust manifold has crack and needs replacement.

I have owned my 2005 envoy xl since june of 2006. Once, i passed 36,000 miles, i started experience lots of issues with my vehicle. I started hearing a knocking noise in the rear when i would turn on the ac and the steering was off somewhat. I had the steering fixed for around $400 but the knocking was going to cost around the same amount. Less then 10,000 miles later, the knocking noise is more persistent and is related to issues with the fuel pump. My gas hand will move to empty when i fill the tank up and will not move forward for days at a time. Today, my kids are complaining about the ac not working in the second and third row seats. Everytime i turn the corner it seems as if there is another problem with my vehicle.

The contact owns a 2005 gmc envoy xl 370. The contact stated that the fuel and oil gauges were malfunctioning when driving various speeds and as a result, the vehicle would stall without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that six cylinders had failed and both the engine and oil gauge sensors would need replacing. The manufacturer was not contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 100,000.

The exhaust manifold on my 2005 gmc envoy xl slt is cracked. I have researched and discovered many of these gmc envoy andchevy trailblazers have this same incident occurring.

Broken manifold bolts which it appears from searching the internet is a common problem on gmc v-8 engines.

Smell of exhaust while driving. Noticed engine made a ticking sound which went away after engine got warm. Brought vehicle into a service center and a diagnosis of a cracked exhaust was made. Have noticed many other trailblazer and rnvoy owners complaints of exact same issue. Because of the nature of carbon monoxide poisoning in the cab i am entering this into the safety complaint database.

I have a 2005 gmc envoy xl. When i bought the suv in jan 2009 the gas gauge was showed 1/4 tank when it was empty. By february, the gauze was completely nonfunctioning. Had the gauze replaced in june of 2010.

The very same thing described in nhtsa campaign 14v755000, gm safety recall 14291, began happening to my 2005 gmc envoy xl. My headlights flickered off and on. In time, my headlights stayed off longer and longer. Only the low beams and the daytime running lights seemed to be affected.i could find no discernible reason or connection to any action or setting on the car. When the lights go out when i am driving at night and remain off for more than a second or two, it is very dangerous, so i quit driving at night in this vehicle and have taken it to a gm service center for repair.the recall 14291 letter posted at http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/acms/cs/jaxrs/download/doc/ucm471691/rionl-14v755-2465.pdf describes my safety situation exactly. Service manager said my car is not included in this recall.

My problem is covered under recall 14291 but my year isn't included. Despite numerous bulb replacements and mechanic visits, my vehicle's low-beam headlights do not work.i've contacted gm, but they offered no solution that's affordable. I have no headlight other than high-beams. Please help and make gm investigate this problem on all their 2005 model year vehicles.

Gas gauge is constantly reading empty even when filled.

I have had 3 fuel gauge failures in gmc suv's i have owned. Within the last 3 years. This appears to tie in with the current investigation of false readings on the fuel gauges.

My 2005 gmc envoy sl only has 47,000 miles.i experienced dash electronics concerning warning indicator lights ("power train cooloing fan at 46,000 miles") and gas tank level gauage stopped working at 40,000 miles.i have been told that this issue related to an overall sensor problem and will effect the headlights and other safety related issues.

The fuel gauge became erratic. The first thing that happened was when the fuel tank was filled, the gas gauge went to empty and the fuel light came on as if there were no fuel. It remained that way for some time. It then would fluctuate wildly until a large amount of gas had been used.

Fuel gauge readings are inaccurate, dealer wants to replace the gauging system in the tank at consumers cost.i believe it is a known problem and should be a warrantied item.

After fillingfuel tank, sensor went to empty imediately. Chimes activate and fuel gauage reads empty.

Fuel system issues for 2005 gmc envoy.fuel gauge stopped working properly in late 2008.reads empty all the time regardless of fuel level. Today, 03/03/09, i experienced a degraded power symptom (and warning on the dash) related to the fuel system.the vehicle had to be shut down and restarted to continue driving.

In 2008, our vehicle's gas gauge would fluctuate on the amount of gas. We would fill it up and the gauge would show full but as soon as we would start driving would drop down to empty and eventually as of today when we fill out vehicle up all the way, the guage only shows less than a 1/4 full then drops to empty.after filling up the gas tank and the gauge showing full and dropping to 1/4 full then i ran out of gas with my children in the vehicle on the highway, causing my gmc envoy to shut down and my steering wheel to lock up, luckily i was able to steer off to the shoulder with much force to the wheel. As of today, our gauge no longer rises to show any sort of amount of fuel in the tank. We use the gas used on the dash to keep track or mileage to track when we need to fill up and make sure we don't get down to close to empty. We have not fixed this problem because we have read so many complaints that there should be a recall made by gmc. I have called gmc and asked if there was a recall for our vehicle and to my surprise none! i believe gmc needs to correct their manufacturer defect!

2005 gmc envoy gasoline gauge failure.reads different levels of fuel regardless of how much fuel is in the tank.will go up and own on its own.low fuel alarm will sound even with full tank of fuel.started sept 2010.

Gas gauge reads empty all the time. Low fuel alarm will go off randomly even though their is fuel in the car. Because of this i never know how much gasoline i really have.i have ran out of gas and been stranded on the side of the road b/c of this.

The fuel gauge stopped working stalling out on the road.

Vehicle completely lost power on congested freeway resulting in rear end crash.

Gas gauge malfunctions on my 2005 gmc envoy xl. Fuel level was at half a tank when i decided to top it off before a snowstorm hit. Gauge read full but once i started driving it started to decrease and noticed the remaining miles left were also decreasing until low fuel light came on. Put car in park and it started rising again. Drove and it would go up and down. Parked overnight and restarted the next day and gauge read low fuel and indicator light was on. Drove a little then gas level went to normal and started fluctuating. This has now happened for about a week and a half.

Fuel sensor, located in gas tank, has failed.no matter how much gas is in the tank, be it full, half full, or less, the sensor bell rings and the gauge registers empty.this also causes the check engine light to come on.gmc should recall, as this is very dangerous.i thought i had more fuel but ran out of gas on a major road, thankfully no accident.gmc has admitted there is a problem and has agreed to pay 50% of repairs, but this is only done under a vehicle warranty extension, not recall.

Ran out of gas multiple times, due to the gas gauge not working. Researched issue on the internet and noticed multiple drivers with same issue. Gas gauge does not read correct amount or continuously "empty". Have heard instances of other drivers with rusted/eroded fuel gauge sensor in the gas tank, causing inaccurate gas gauge. Have been stuck in dangerous places after running out of gas.

My 2005 gmc envoy xl fuel gauge is not working.at 1/4 tank, i filled up the tank, started the engine and the fuel needle went past empty and light came on.after many re-starts, days the gauge is still not working correctly.as i drive now with a full tank the gauge needle continues to slowly go up and go down with driving.

The contact owns a 2005 gmc envoy xl 370. After adding fuel to the vehicle to its capacity the fuel gauge did not display that the tank was full. The contact stated the fuel gauge would then display various improper readings. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the contact was informed the fuel level sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The failure and current mileages were 67,000. The vin was unavailable.

The fuel sensor on my vehicle swings wildly from empty to full even when the fuel tank has just been filled.this results in the check engine light to constantly be on.i am unable to determine how much gas is in the car due to the faulty sensor.i have checked the internet and this appears to be a widespread problem that has been reported for years.i called gm and they told me that they have known about the problem and will cover 50% of the cost only if i take it to a gm dealer and that my portion of the cost would be between $500 - $600 dollars.they would not cover any of the cost if i take it to my local mechanic.this problem has been known by gm for years and they should have issued a complete recall to repair the defective part(s).

Problem with severe fluctuations of fuel gauge. Research shows your ongoing investigation # is dp10001. Upon filling tank to aprox.tank the gauge suddenly started going wild and within 1 mile of driving the "check engine light" appeared.after investigating numerous on-line resources it is clear that this problem is not only limited to this vehicle but is a serious problem in the gm lineup. Dealership repair costs are estimated in the $800.00 to $1000.00 range. This is unacceptable for a problem that gm knows to exist yet refuses to take any unilateral action on.

At approximately 50,000 miles, the fuel sending unit on my 05 gmc envoy xl quit working.the fuel gauge indicator will fluctuate but mostly reads empty and emits low fuel warning buzzer even after i have filled the gas tank. I spoke to a service writer at a local dealership about the problem.his response was the dealership service department would look at my vehicle for about $300.00-not repair the problem-just diagnose it.he also said that i was driving the vehicle too much.

My fuel gauge stopped reading the amount of fuel in the gas tank. The low fuel light is now constantly on even when tank is full. Problem not yet fixed cost to fix between$600.00-$1,000.00 dollars. Fuel tank sending unit quit working and resulting in inoperable fuel gauge reading.

I have a 2005 gmc envoy and the fuel gauge is not working properly.it does not show full when i fill the tank nor does it show when the tank is empty.

I have 2005 gmc envoy and the gas gauge is not working properly so i don't exactly how much gas i do have.when i put gas in it registers fuel level low and itsa problem because i travel alot with work and run the risk of running out of gas and being stranded, its very frustrating.

The contact stated that after refueling the tank, he noticed that the fuel gauge would read improperly. The vehicle was not inspected by a dealer nor repaired. The manufacturer was contacted through email and had not yet replied. The failure mileage was approximately 49,000. The vin was unavailable.updated 09/29/2011 *ln

Inaccurate fuel gauge.

Fuel gauge malfunctions and will not work properly. When vehicle is filled to full tank level, there is a click sound and the gauge goes all the way to the empty position, then warning light and very low fuel indicator light comes on. This is the 2nd gm vehicle i have had problems with. Once the warranty expires everything starts to go wrong such as fuel pump/sensor, radiator/fan motor, a/c, front wheel bearings. The more i try to maintain these vehicles the more problems. I will purchase a honda, nissan, toyota next time.

We own a 2005 gmc envoy xl.we purchased it with 45,000 miles. Now at 49,500 miles it appears the fuel gauge is broken.it started about 1,000 miles ago.it seemed it was taking a lot of money to fill the tank...more than usual.now even when we fill the gas tank up the gauge stays on empty.this is causing us a problem because we do not know when we need to fill up again.we do not want to be stranded.we took it to a dealership and they are telling us it will cost about $800 to fix.please help.

Fuel gauge does not work. I will fill up the tank and turn on the car and it reads low fuel and the indicator light comes on. Then i can be driving and it will jump up to past 1/4 tank then slowly go down to e and read low fuel.

Faulty fuel gauge went out again for the second time. First time it happen the vehicle was under warranty. This time it is not covered. We have taken this truck to the shop twice to work on thedash board instrument cluster.(oil, battery , fuel).

2005 gmc envoy; the fuel gauge has been acting crazy lately, so i decided to research this matter on the internet, and have been finding more and more incidents where the gas gauge either stays on empty or fluctuates from empty back to full and eventually stops working. At appx. 46,000miles, my gas gauge started doing the same as previously stated, going from empty to full, and sporadically repeating this even if the fuel tank was fuel. The fuel gauge being at the empty level, but the tank is fuel, causes a constant alarm bell to go off every 10 seconds or so, everytime you get in the vehicle. I have been trying to find the fuel sensor to replace it, but it seems that you have to purchase the hole fuel pump assembly which runs around $400, and i am not going to replace it, if everyone that has a gmc envoy or chevy trailblazer are all having the same problems. From what i gather, from my research, everyone seems to have the same problem on all forums that i have read. My vehicle only has 51,000miles on it right now, and this problem has been occurring for about 3 months now.

Fuel gauge never reads correctly even after tank is fuel gauge doesn't register anymore than half a tank when moving, anytime vehicle comes to a complete stop the gauge goes to empty and the low fuel light comes on. Also gauge never reads the same at any time very inconsistent.

Driving down road and sudden loss of powercheck engine on and reduced engine power light on.. Car sped up fast and then dropped down to no speed drove 5 mph to get home.

My fuel gauge stopped working in my 2005 envoy at approximately 40,000 miles.the fuel gauge indicates that the car is out of fuel after fill the tank full.i have noticed numerous complaints about this problem and have also received a letter from gm stating that they are aware of the problem and will cover up to 50% of repair as my warrant has expired.the problem with only covering 50% is paying with for my half of the repair.i have been unable to come up with approximately the $200 for the repair therefore unable to have it repaired.i spoke with gm customer service and they informed me that was my option.when i asked why there has not been a recall on the problem they informed me that i should contact the nhtsa.my concern is that i live in a state with cold weather that requires that car to warm up prior to driving.so i was keeping track of my mileage knowing when i needed to fill up with gas.although, this will not be accurate in winter and afraid that my spouse (primary driver of this vehicle) will get stranded on the road.i hope if/when this happens it is not during a snow storm where an auto accident will then become likely.when talking to gm along with the fuel sensor i expresses concerns about other issues that i have been having.for example, my license plate light stopped working, changed the bulb and checked the fuses and still does not work; along with heat issues and was informed to take in for diagnosis.

Fuel gauge started fluctuating after filling up my gas tank. The error constantly got worst and worst until the gauge just stopped working. The yellow low fuel light is illuminated most the time and the needle sits on empty even when the gas tank has just been filled. Was told the fuel sensor in gas tank was faulty and to replace would mean replacing the whole pump assembly. This alone with parts and labor will cost almost $1000.00. Vehicle had 63,000miles at time of deficiency.

Fuel gauge not reading correct fuel level. Vehicle reads full one minute and empty the next.vehicle has stalled while driving.this was fixed once under warranty and this is the second time it has occurred i am the original owner. The dealership will not cover the repair. I understand that gmc is being investigated by your organization for this issue and i would like to be added tonhtsa action number: pe11014as part of my complaint.

2005 gmc envoy xl with 49000 milesfuelgauge not working properly, will show empty after filling up then show full. Gauge will then show 3/4 full then 1/2 full after only 10 to 20 miles. Before 100 miles gauge will drop down to empty fuel light will come on and beep. This will happen till tank empty, i never know how much fuel is in truck. I have read that it could be fuel cap, so i replaced it but no fix. I have run out of gas on highway a couple of times already. This problem has been the same through 20 fill ups.can you help, from what i have heard runs from 600 to 1000 dollars.

Gas gauge not working on my 2005 gmc envoy xl. From all the complaints sounds like thefuel leveling sensor went out. Only 70,000 miles . I think with all the complaints this should be a recall.

I have a 2005 gmc envoy. The gas gauge had started having problems at 60,000 miles. It completely stopped working at 77,000 to 80,000 miles. I bought the car used in 2008 with only 45,000 miles. My job has me on the highway a lot. I tried to estimate the miles. But this is very dangerous i have ran out of gas on highway 820 at 260 miles after filling up. I ran out on highway 30 at 320 miles. In the country on private government property with no one to be found at 150 miles, every time i completely filled the car up with gas before resetting the fuel gauge. I can not afford to get it fixed. I can not trade the car in. I am a single mother twith three children that has been blessed so far to run out with out them in the car. I did realize so many others were having the same problem.

I filled up my 2005 gmc envoy xl slt when it had 71,000 miles. I had no previous fuel gauge issues.started the vehicle and fuel gauge went to empty even though i had filled it completely. I don't have the money to repair so have been driving it for the past month and this has been a daily issue while driving. The fuel gauge fluctuates between empty and full and will stick on empty and the bell chimes constantly even when i just filled it up. I have no way of knowing exactly how much fuel is in there except to monitor miles driven and fill it back up more frequently. I feel this is a safety issue. What if my calculations are incorrect and my vehicle stalls on the highway. I have two young children and am afraid of a stall happening resulting in a crash. The fuel gauge is not working. I have no way of knowing exactly how much gas is in there. Again...the gauge will go back and forth as i am driving. I can start a drive knowing it is full but the gauge will say 1/4 tank and it will jump all the way back up to full and then down to empty which causes the low fuel signal and beep to go off. This happens daily. I have done research and am seeing alot of complaints from gmc envoy owners experiencing this same issue and gm does not consider this a problem.this is a safety issue and should be corrected by general motors. It shouldn't take someone to die to get gm's attention on this issue!

Faulty fuel gauge on 2005 gmc envoy, slt. Everytime the tank is filled, the gauge in the instrument cluster reads empty - sometimes it will rise to about an eighth of a tank, but shortly thereafter, it will go right back to empty. This problem has persisted for over a year now. There are thousands of participants on online forums with the same problem for several various gm brands. The average cost to rectify the problem is well over $500.00. The problem not only affects recent model vehicles but, it appears to affect earlier gm model vehicles as well, some as old as 1998. The problem appears to be a known defect, as many people have taken their vehicles to mechanics and/or the dealership to have the problem addressed. Nothing has been done to rectify the problem nor provide a resolution to the problem. The situation can manifest into a more sever problem should someone happen to run out of gas on the highway due to a miscalculation of fuel consumption or, even electronic instrumentation failure [which is also happening when attempting to read how many miles one has driven].

Prob #1 driving down street rear door came open and wouldn't close.already replaced the door latch on pass rear door. If i had children in the car this would've been extremely dangerous.talking to others this is not an isolated incident.problem #2fuel gauge just stop working, low fuel light beeps constantly.never know how much fuel is in car.cost to replace over $500!

2005 gmc envoy fuel gauge in accurate reading. Vehicle fuel gauge reading over 1/4 tank of fuel traveling down freeway vehicle ran out of fuel in center lane loss of power steering system and power brakes. Was able to get vehicle off to side of road without any issues.

Filled car up with gas and low fuel light came on.since then low fuel light stays on even when tank is full.

The fuel gauge went out on my 2005 gmc envoy. It just quit working. I took it to the dealership we purchased the vehicle from and it had to be replaced to the tune of $481.

I filled my tank at a gas station and when leaving the "check engine" light came on and the fuel gauge dropped down to "e" and low fuel light came on. After 10-15 seconds the fuel gauge went all the way to "full". A few minutes later it did the same thing again, and has continued.

Stalling out in intersection, fuel gage and speed odometer ,air bags defaulting, shacking in front end , when driving. Verry dangerous.

Rear glass door came unglued at hinges damaging the struts and almost falling on my head.dealer was contacted and replacing the glass door was suggested at $1500.00.repairing attempted using glue and glass door came loose again.it was a near miss, could become a fatality.main rear door struts were damage and the door almost hit me again.

1. Events leading up to the failure were normal driving in winter conditions.2. Passenger door latches seize from corrosion.passenger doors will not open, passengers could not exit vehicle after a 4 hour ride. There is no seal to prevent water, salt, debris from entering the inside of the door and the door latch mechanisms during normal vehicular operation.3. Door latches were replaced.

Abs and brake warning light comes on and off. Dealer said it was a bad brake module. And would not cover under warranty.

Power steering hose ruptured on my wife's 2005 gmc envoy thankfully just as she was entering our driveway. I feel this is a defect in the hose assembly as the vehicle only has 48,000 mi on it and in 40+ years of driving have never had this happen. If this had happened on the roadway i believe it may have caused aserious accident as it resulted in almost total loss of steering control. The dealer was excellent with the repair, but gm was unwilling to acknowledge the defect. I find it strange that the 06 mdl year had power steering hose problems and a recall but this mdl year was not included,as it burst in the exact way described in the recall. I feel this needs investigating as the vehicle was purchased june 2005and the recall was dated oct 2005.

2005 gmc envoy xl back rear door window bracket detached the first time, the second time the bracket itself broke and shattered the rear window.this is a design flaw that people all over thecountry have experienced.i am trying to get warranty to cover it but they keep telling me they don't cover broken glass, well if the bracket didn't snap in 2 the glass would not have broken.i am very lucky i was not blinded by the explosion of glass.i took pictures which show pieces of glass over 20 feet away.i also read post by other people where children were cut in the face a scarred by this same event.

May 18, 2010 6pm driving home from chena hot springs road at the speed limit 55 miles per hour the rear hatch plastic was rattling as usual at that speed.at about 1 block from college road turnoff while still driving on johanson hwy the right side of the plastic cover broke and was hanging down over back window. I reduced my speed and stopped and tried to place right side back up and seen it was still attached on left side.i drove the rest of the way home very slow. When my husband got home i had him remove from left side. This piece is 3 foot 10 inches by 10inches. It also holds my (chmsl) lamp. This is the third time it has falling off. 2006 local gmc replaced because they sold it to me. 2008 it flew off while driving 55 miles a hour and luckly no one was behind and no one was hurt. I believe this is a factory defect and gmc needs to fix this permanently before someone gets hurt. Theystate condition cause is a poor bonding of the double-sided adhesive tape between the chmsl applique and the liftegate glass. Quote from gmc 2008 #01-08-66-007c: center high-mount stop lamp(chmsl)a[[lique loose (re-tape applidque)- aug 27, 2007. I spoke with jeremiah from gmc he states they (gmc) will not do anything and see no problem and that i should not use hatch in the winter time. And by the way i have not used my hatch in the winter months since after the 2008 repair that the gmc local dealer fixed as a courtesy i choose not to take any chances. I also avoid driving over 50 miles an hour. Miliage on my envoy today is only 31,192 i avoid long trips too.i am not asking for a new car i just want to be safe driving55 miles an hour. I think it is a defect design the plastic sits up and the force of thewind hitting at over 50 miles an hour it rips it off!! thank you for any help in this matter.

Left rear door flew open going around corner. Could not get the door to latch. Removed latch assembly and attempted to clean. Too much rust and corrosion. Some of the debris looks like it came from the striker. Had same trouble with right rear door at 80,000 miles. Disassembled and cleaned. Works for a while. Some one going to fall out of one of these suv's. Gm needs to step up and fix this problem.

Opening the hatch on my 2005 envoy xls approx 1 time per day caused the pistons and the ballasts to go bad. The vehicle has had continual problems with the back door handles and interior mechanisms for the past 3 years, with repeated trips to the dealer to fix the problem. Still not fixed.
