The contact owns a 2017 gmc acadia. While driving at various speeds, the horn did not work. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to maxon buick gmc (2301 u.s. 22, union, nj 07083, (908) 964-1900). The dealer duplicated the failure and consulted with the chief engineer of the gmc manufacturer who recommended that the steering wheel be replaced with a custom-made steering wheel. The failure recurred after the replacement of the steering wheel. The vehicle was taken back to the same dealer and the technician diagnosed that the air bag needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and the contact waited for feedback. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 500.
The airbag light on this car has been going off and on since it was purchased in october 2017. Every couple of months there was another problem with the airbag. The dealership could never diagnose the problem. They initially claimed the sensors were unplugged as a result of moving the seat back and forth. Now that the car is out of warranty, they want to diagnose the problem as a faulty sensor. Additionally, the automatic transmission shift to park issue is occurring. This is when the car is parked and the transmission shifted into park, however, an error indicator displays saying the car needs to be shifted to park to turn off, even though it is in park. The dealership replaced the manifold 2 years ago and now the problem is resurfacing.
I started noticeing when i open my glove box or had someone seating in the passager seat my airbag light would turn on with the engine running. The light would turn on and beep stating service air bag. The light would sometimes stay on or turn off. Once i took my acadia to the dealership and they ran a bunch of test. At first they couldn't determine what the problem was. They determine it was the airbag and that it needed to be replaced. The back seat fastener on the middle seat failed to lock the buckle in place. Had to replace this.
My husband and i were in a very serious car accident and i'm concerned becauseour air bags did not deploy. We were traveling on a diagonal street in chicago and he was going straight. My right front fender hit his right front fender. His air bags deployed but ours did not. The er told me it was likely i hit the steering wheel and it could take up to nine months to heal from having whiplash in my shoulders and neck. My husband has been diagnosed as having a contusion. We hit really hard i was traveling about 25 mph and he was probably doing 45 mph. This is a real safety issue. My air bags may or may not have made the difference but i believe they should have deployed.
The 2017 gmc acadia horn takes an unreasonable amount of force to engage.this has been noted by several users.my spouse had a semi truck come into her lane a day ago and could not get horn to sound to warn other driver.gmc dealership investigated and said its just the way the assembly works in this model.i believe this represents a safety issue as it makes the horn unusable when you need it quickly and without taking your eyes off the road.gm is saying to bad.
Horn is so hard to pushno one in my family can sound horn guys at dealer could not get it to sound without excessive force this is highly dangerous no one at the dealer or gmc will fix it they say it was the way it was designed again very dangerous some one needs to fix this flaw before someone dies in an accident because they were unable to sound horn to avoid collisioni would have never imaged buying a brand new car i would have unresolved safety concerns with the answer from gmc and the dealer being we aren't fixing it so i guess you shouldn't drive itthat's the fix not to drive my one and only brand new car how about gmc or the dealer making my brand new car safe and fixing their problem!!!!! there needs to be a recall for this horn
I bought a new 2017 gmc acadia denali the end of february and the next day found out that the horn does not work. The horn is extremely hard to push and requires extra pressure with both hands and arching my back against the seat to try and make the horn to work. I have been back to the dealers 3 times in 2 weeks and it is not fixed. There are only 644 miles on this new suv and my wife will not drive it because it is a safety concern with no horn.
With my vehicle stationary and shifter in the park position, i turn my car off and the vehicle turns off but the instrument cluster says "action required - shift to park". This message also does not allow the day time running lights to turn off and if the lights don't turn off the battery drains if parked for long stretches. I have to turn the car on/off several times before it engages and the message disappears.
My vehicle would not unlock for hours then it finally did and ran for a bit. Then when started again would not n. Then went to bri g it in and nothing worked correct. The speedometer was at 0 and it was scary! the whole vehicle would not work right and when i brought it in they said it was a side sensor module and it was $735 to replace.my car is not that old.they said wetness could have got to it.we live in min edits. Many cars get wet. That is absolutely crazy. They also told me they share sopose to be coming out with a recall and new boxes that cover these sensors.i will be expecting to be reimbursed when this becomes a recall which it defiantly needs to be!i paid a lot of money for this vehicle.the price of mine should be on this!
The a/c comes on and off automatically and you have no control over it. Gm states they did this so you don't have to turn your def. On. While i'm driving i continually have to take my eyes off the road to fiddle with the temp. Control. (the a/c comes on full cold) i've contacted gmc and they refuse to do or offer any help in this matter.
Purchased my 2017 acadia(used) on october 2, 3019. Two days after taking delivery a message appeared saying "shift to park" while i was parked and vehicle was in park. Could not turn engine off. Left engine running while i exited the car. Eventually engine turned off. Took vehicle in to dealer. They said they repaired for which i paid. Now it's happening again.
When i shift the car to park and turn it off, i get a warning on the dash that instructs me to "shift to park" even though i already have. The vehicle will not turn off, and as a result i have to turn the car on and off shifting repeatedly up to 20 times to finally get the car to recognize it's in park. The vehicle is totally unsafe as it will not stay in park!
The first problem i had was the shift. I got it fixed. I have it all documented. Now for the second time in the past 2 weeks my car has flashed every warning light possible. I took it in the first time and was told the codes did not store and to keep driving it. I finally got a video of the problem happening and dropped it off for a second time. During the problem all gauges go to zero and the gear symbol disappears. The last time i drove the car it accelerated on its own and i did not have control of the vehicle.
This vehicle has twice had parts replaced for the "shift to park" issue detailed in gm tsb 19-na-206.the first incident was in april 2019, and it was repaired under warranty at about 24,800 miles.the second incident was this past week at about 50,800 miles, and this repair cost almost $800 to fix.i contacted gm customer support and was told that i could not get any reimbursement because there was no special coverage or recall for this known problem.this is completely unacceptable, since the problem is clearly a defect in parts manufacturing or assembly, and it renders the vehicle completely unusable since it is impossible to turn the car off when the car does not recognize that the shifter is in park.this is a safety issue because the driver needs to be certain whether or not the vehicle is securely parked before leaving the vehicle.
It seems that all of these cars have a faulty side detection problem. Please check into it. It is a pain and is sad that it seems to happen to all of them. The side detection problem leads to other kinds of problems with the computers ... The light stays on all the time
Vehicle was purchased used in june 2020issue #1after shifting car into park, display will indicate p for park , but also says vehicle is not in park. Since you are not sure if it actually in park and to eliminate this display, you need to restart the vehicle, go thru the gears again and then back into park.this happens several times a week with having to restart and park again up to 10 times before the vehicle will register it is in park.i have read there is a technical service bulletin on this issue as well as a case to get gmc to issue a recall.this is a serious issue because you are unaware if the vehicle transmission is actually in park.having to restart and continually shift to park is time consuming and quite frankly a nuisance. At this point in time, the only way of correction, other than restarting up to ten times, is to click the gear shift several times after placing in park.this will work 5/10 times.issue #2 - vehicle does not always detect remote.have replaced batteryin remote 5 times and will last approximately 8-10 weeks.at times, when the vehicle has been driven and is placed into park, the display will read no remote detected.have also placed remote into pocket into console and will still receive the same no remote detected. Although there is never any indication battery is low or dead on remote, this is also the only possible correction we have found.however, we do believe there must be another correction for this issue.
While driving, the horn failed to activate when depressed. Subsequently, when parked, the horn required excessive pressure to activate (two hands). Took the vehicle to the dealer, the service advisor tried the horn and agreed that it required excessive force to blow the horn. P/n 84050792 was replaced with no change in the pressure required to blow the horn. Research shows multiple complaints regarding the same issue.
The contact owns a 2017 gmc acadia. The contact stated that while the vehicle was stopped with the gear shift lever in the park position, the shift to park warning light illuminated intermittently. The contact was then unable to turn the vehicle off while the warning light was displayed. The vehicle was taken to jim falk motors of maui located at (260 hana hwy #1, kahului, hi 96732), where it was repaired however, the failure recurred three times. The contact also stated that there was an abnormal sound when the steering wheel was turned in either direction. The vehicle was taken back to same dealer to be inspected. The contact was informed that the lug nuts on the front and rear wheels were improperly installed. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and informed of the failure. A case was filed. The failure mileage was unknown.
The contact owns a 2017 gmc acadia. The contact stated that the horn took excessive force in order to operate. As a result, the vehicle was involved in an side impact collision because the driver could not alert the other driver of their presence. A police report was not filed. The vehicle was taken to the collision center where it was repaired. The contact was also informed by the dealer that this failure was common among this particular model vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The manufacturer stated that the vehicle was designed with that particular failure. There were no injuries. The failure mileage was approximately 600.
1. The battery totally dies after sitting for 3 days. 2. Sometimes a warning message appears "shift into park" when the shifting handle is in park and sometimes prevents turning the engine off. Sometimes after trying several times it stops the engine but dash lights remain on. Dealership says this is a common problem and they do not have a definative solution.
The contact owns a 2017 gmc acadia. The contact stated that the vehicle would not shut off and the engine ran for hours. Eventually, the internal system recognized that the vehicle was in park and finally turned itself off. The manufacturer had not done anything to address the failure; however, they issued technical service bulletin number: 18-na-297 on december 13, 2018. The contact called numerous unknown dealers across the country to try to buy the part mentioned in the service bulletin, but the part was still on backorder. The part that was needed for the repair was the transmission shifter assembly (number: 13528228). The cost of the part was less than $150. The contact stated that the vehicle was out of its initial warranty. The failure mileage was 47,500. The vin was unknown.
Shift to park error message when gear shift is in park and vehicle is turned off.the auxiliary power stays on (radio and usb) and will not let me lock the doors. This happens nearly every day. Must restart the vehicle and put into gear then into park multiple times.
Dash displays that the transmission is not in park when it is for sure.
The contact owns a 2017 gmc acadia. The contact stated that while placing the vehicle in park, an error message and warning light was displayed on the instrument panel. The contact stated that the message shift to park was displayed while attempting to start or turn off the vehicle. The contact took the vehicle to buick gmc of mahwah (386 nj-17, mahwah, nj 07430) where the vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 64,000.*dt
Vehicle is put into park when stopped in a parking lot or in my garage but the message on the dash indicates it is not in park.this happens intermittently. The power remains on with lights not shutting off. Shifter harness was replaced in july 2020 per bulletin 19-na-206.the problem showed up again 3 months later.
When the vehicle is put in park andattempted to shutoff, is message appears on dash that says "shift to park".this problem was reported to the dealer the 1st time it happened on june 11., 2018.the dealership replaced the shifter.on july 31, 2020 again the shift to park message appeared.the dealership again replaced the shifter, (that shorted out)and this time installed a wiring harness that had a resisterinstalled in the harness to prevent damaged to the shifter assembly from the over current that goes to the shifter.the service advisor said they have had numerous vehicles with this problem and the com[any should do a recall.how long before it does it again and a another $631.36 repair bill.
At random times, when parking my vehicle, after placing it in 'park' and shutting the engine off, the dic warns to place the vehicle in 'park' even when the shift lever is in 'park'. I have to start the vehicle again, shift the vehicle from 'park to 'drive' and then back to 'park', shutcthe vehicle off and the warning on the dlc goes away.this is starting to happen more often, every 3-5 start-stop cycles.
The contact owns a 2017 gmc acadia. While driving various speeds, the air conditioner spontaneously turned on to the high setting on several occasions. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to ray skillman southside buick gmc (8424 us-31, indianapolis, in 46227, (317) 497-0711) where it was diagnosed that the control module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was contacted and stated that the vehicle was working as designed and a beneficial feature that was activated with the outside temperature and humidity. The failure mileage was unknown.
When i put my vehicle in park and turn it off, my shift to park message comes across and i have to turn my vehicle back on and move the gear from park to something else and back to park. Sometimes this has to be done a few times before it will completely turn off.
Truck constantly fails to start.keyfob not recognized.computer system crashes, rear air vents fall out.faulty gas tank and gas line.cannot fill up gas tank past 1/2 a tank.been happening since inception and is constantly in and out of service for the same issues over the past year.not being able to start the truck is a safety hazard to me and my family.there needs to be an alternate way to start the truck should the computer system crash.
When you put the shifter into the park position and you try to turn off the vehicle with the start/stop button an on dash error code of 'shift to park' appears even though the vehicle is clearly in park. You are not able to turn the vehicle off. It beeps incessantly, the battery remains on and the doors do not want to lock. Gmc has been made aware of the issue by hundreds of 2017 acadia owners however their engineers have not found a solution. This defect is forcing me to turn the engine on and off multiple times, trying putting the car in reverse and then shifting back in drive, wiggling the shifter, opening the rear passenger doors and repeating any and all of these processes until it eventually turns off the shift to park message and allows the vehicle to shut down (or if you can confuse the electrical panel and have another message pop up to override it, such as the one that says 'check rear passenger seat". I do not know if my car is ever truly in gear or not. I'm afraid that it might cause a dangerous situation where my vehicle rolls thinking it is not in park or the battery dies unexpectedly or the vehicle is stolen because it will not shut off or the doors will not lock. I bought this vehicle brand new and this started occurring at around 15,000 miles and is a highly reported problem that necessitates a recall fix for safety.
The vehicle does not recognize when it is in park. Sporadically vehicle will not go into park and thus can't leave vehicle. Safety concern! i understand this is a known issue.
When you put the car in park it often wonā€™t recognize it and will display a message on the console stating ā€shift to parkā€¯. When it does this youā€™re not able to turn your car completely offso you just have to continue messing around with the shifter or turning the car back on again by pressing the break until it finally goes off. This happens at least once daily and can take upwards of 5 minutes sometimes to finally recognize the car is in park so you can turn the car off. Weā€™ve tried leaving the car running before when this message is displayed when itā€™s been parked in our garage thinking it would eventually realize itā€™s in park and shutoff but after 10 minutes of running it still hadnā€™t recognized it was in park. We called our dealership about this and they told us that they get a lot of complaints about this issue.
Two month old 2017 gmc acadia denali fwd.horn is nearly impossible to operate under any conditions.it takes two hands to make it work and only with excessive force, and in only one spot on the steering wheel. Recently i was alongside of a big rig and the driver did not see me.he started to maneuver into my lane and the acadia horn would not work.nearly caused a major accident on a 70mph posted highway.the dealer knows about the problem and it has been reported to gmc and nhtsa by many 2017 gmc acadia owners.to date, gmc offers no fix for this problem.a recall or at least a repair bulletin needs to be issued before someone gets hurt, or worse.this is a widespread safety issue with the 2017 gmc acadia, and possibly the 2018 gmc acadia if the same horn activation hardware is used in the newer model.
Our 2017 gmc acadia denali is experiencing "action required" "shift to park" alert on the dash. The indicator on the dash shows the car is in "p" for park and the shifter is placed into the park position. The only resolve for this error to go away is pushing back and forth on the shifter until finally sometimes up to ten minutes, the system recognized that the car is actually in park. If you do not spend the time to try and make the system recognize that shifter is in the parked position the car will continue to try alert you with dinging inside the car and then honking. This is a known issue to which has been reported by several people upon our investigation after experiencing the problem. The part to which is needed to fix this issue is currently on backorder per our local gmc dealership to which there is no estimated time to receive the part in to resolve our issue. We are being told it could take "weeks" prior to this part being received to fix the issue.
Shift to park light came on when i parked. As i parked, the break pad locked and i could not release it. The shifter locked and i could not release it. It would not let me turn vehicle off. I had to experiment on how to get error message to stop and breaks to unlock so i did resultto jiggling the shifter and put car in reverse then in drive and park again and trying to turn off (after doing this atleast 4 times) eventually it unlocked and let me turn car off without getting this error message. This happened 2 years prior and i had my 1 yr old in car with me panicking bc i couldnā€™t drive my car for a bit until the mechanism decided to start working again. This time i knew how to fix it better bc it had happened 2 yrsprior so i knew to wiggle the shifter and try to put it back in drive etc to eventually get car to shut off. Thereā€™s records of this shift to park being fixed in 2019 and again in 2021. I should not be responsible for paying anything for these issues. It is a gmc malfunction. Although mechanical it is a safety concern of mine too!
Upon shifting the car to park and shutting off the engine, the console says, "shift to park".the car appears to roll some.i have not been on an incline to see if it is truly in park or not.it will not allow the electronics to shut off and will not let you lock the car so the car cannot be left when this happens.it has been happening intermittently and today i had to shut off and start the car and drive it 10-15 times before it would recognize it was actually in park.
Upon turning vehicle off, "shift to park!" illuminates on the cluster. Vehicle will not turn off until it is re-started, shifted in and out of gear. Sometimes this needs to be done multiple times. There has been one instance the error would not clear, and i was forced to leave my vehicle on, as i went into a doctor appointment. This is very annoying, not to mention the wasted fuel with starting/stopping the vehicle 5-10 times each time i turn it off. I've taken video of the problem, however, it is too large to upload here. Ridiculous.
Shift to park message. Car will not shut off even when in park. It says it needs to shift to park, even when it is in park.
New 2017 gmc acadia denali fwd. Less than 100 miles. Horn does not operate with normal driver pressure under any conditions.requires excessive pressure to operate, requiring using both hands and then only in one spot.gm is aware of the problem and has done nothing to correct, calling it is operating "as designed".the design is flawed and gm fails to admit it and take corrective action. It is past time that this problem is fixed, as it has been reported many times by other gmc acadia owners and is on record with the nhtsa.does someone have to be killed before a fix is released?does someone have to be killed before the nhtsa acts on this potentially lethal defect?
I get a 'shift to park' notification when i put my car in park and try to turn it off. I'm confident my car is in park as it doesn't move when i release the brake, i have to restart the car, put it in drive or reverse, then shift into park again. Sometimes i have to do this 5 times before i'm able to turn off my car.
Shift to park recall - this is a safety issue.my acadia was in park and i turned the car off and i got an error code that said action required shift to park.i had to turn the car back on put it in drive and back into park and turn the car off the stop the beeping.i spoke to flemington gmc and this issue is not a recall.this makes no sense to me the error code reads action required shift to park.which clearly means the car is not in park if it's telling you to shift to park when you already put it in park and turned the car off using the start stop button.i am still waiting for a phone call from amber at gmc as i was suppose to be called on 9/3/19 regarding this issue.
My 2017 gmc acadia is experiencing the same issue as described in n172097060 - special coverageside blind zone alert module water intrusionmy vin is apparently not included in the covered vehicles even though it is the same safety issue in the same part in the same make, model and year range of the bulletin.it is also my understanding that this issue can cause additional safety issues with the vehicle that are potentially very serious..i have taken the vehicle to my local dealer who verified it is the same corrosion issue due to a faulty design.
The contact owns a 2017 gmc acadia. The contact stated that after parking the vehicle, the ignition failed to turn off. The contact stated that the vehicle ran on for 20 to 30 minutes. King o'rourke buick gmc located at (756 smithtown bypass #102, smithtown, ny 1178, (631)482-7312, confirmed the failure. The contact was informed that the vehicle was covered under warranty. The contact was later informed that the bumper to bumper warranty had expired and that the contact would be responsible for the repair costs. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 40,000.*dt
Shift to park stays on when placing my vehicle into park. This does not allow the electronics to shut off indefinitely resulting in a dead battery. Gmc has stated that this is not a recall and that because i am out of my warranty this is not covered. After reading multiple forums there are hundred of people with this same issue from 100miles to 60k+ and gm has refused to make this a recall. Someone did state that they got their shift assembly replaced and it fixed the problem. Very disappointed with gm and not standing behind an issue that is clearly a defect from the manufacture. They also are having the same issues with cadillac stemming form their tennessee plant. Buyers beware!
The vehicle states to 'shift to park' but the vehicle is in park already. The vehicle will not turn off and keeps the battery running. I must start up the car and shift it to drive, then pack to park multiple times before the car recognizes it is in park. This happens every time, but the amount of time it takes to turn on and off to reach 'park' is random.
The contact owns a 2017 gmc acadia. The contact stated that upon placing the gear shifter into the park position, the shift to park warning message illuminated on the instrument panel. After turning off the vehicle, an audible chime was heard inside of the vehicle. The vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed nor repaired. The contact spoke with a representative at karl chevrolet of stuart (324 sw 8th st, stuart, ia 50250) where she was informed that there was a service bulletin issued for the failure however, there was currently no fix for the vehicle. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 30,000.consumer stated harness was replaced.
Shift to park warning light turns on when car is in park. Headlights stay on.
We have had numerous issues with the cars brakes automatically locking up when something triggers the collision safety break.specifically when crossing rail road tracks after a train has past.as a result the car stops completely and automatically while on railroad tracks and won't allow you to move.you have to put the car in park, wait (on railraod tracks) and then attempt to move but it may activate it again so you have to do it again.meanwhile you are on tracks, with cars behind you honking and screaming.this has happened numerous times, reported it to our dealer, service and gmc corporate where nothing was done.they said they would put in a "black box" like device but never did.it is a major safety concern for my family and one that gmc is not addressing adaquately.
The vehicle gives a 'shift to park' warning on dashboard after vehicle ignition button. This warning shows up every time the vehicle is accepted to shut off. It takes several minutes and tries to get the message to go away and the vehicle to completely shut off. The only successful way of getting the message and vehicle to completely shut off is by wiggling or shaking the gear shifter until it goes away. I have been stranded with children in the vehicle for concerns that the vehicle will roll with the vehicle not registeringthat it is in park. After researching the vehicle issue further it has been found that other owners with thesame year and model have had the same shift to park message and have had their vehicle roll on it's own. The vehicle has gone to the dealership to be fixed but unfortunately because my warranty has expired i am being held responsible for paying to fix this safety issue.
My vehicle is receiving a "shift to park" error when the vehicle is placed in park.the system does not register park, therefore doesn't shut off and can't be locked or vacated.it takes multiple attempts to get it into park.there is a known issue in gm service bulletin 18-na-297 but gmc has not recalled this dangerous shifter and my vehicle is faulty.
When the vehicle is parked after driving and the placed in park, the vehicle fails to recognize that is in "park". This causes the interior accessories to remain running as though the vehicle is running even when the engine is off. This happens when the vehicle is stationary. From review of information, this is a know manufacturing defect from gm. When gm was contacted to have repaired in the vehicle we were informed that they cannot warranty their vehicles forever and it would not be repaired. This seems to be an inappropriate response for an issue that is not a warranty item but has been published as a manufacturing defect.
The vehicle has had ongoing issues since it was purchased in june of 2017. The 'shift to park' problem had to be fixed twice, the emergency braking system engages itself for no apparent reason which has almost caused several accidents, the horn does not work when needed in emergency situations, the headlights are so dim it's dangerous, the battery has drained and left my wife stranded 4 times, and the vehicle has a very rough idle and it almost stalls out.i attempted to work with gm to have them take the car back early (lease) and the request was recently denied.this is my 3rd acadia and it by far is the most dangerous car i have ever driven.i am now reading about a fuel pump problem that could cause the vehicle to catch on fire, a driveshaft that may separate while driving, and a faulty braking system that could cause the vehicle to lose all braking capability.i do not feel safe having my family in this car and i am requesting your assistance to help me work with gm on a resolution.i entered the date that the vehicle first started to have issues, there have been over 20 incidents over a 2.5 year period causing a safety issue or leaving my wife and children stranded.
"shift to park" issue as described by others.gm dealer says it needs to replace a $20.00 harness + labor of over $200.00."service parking brake" issue that randomly presented itself one day.i was unable to use the parking brake.gm dealer had to "upgrade" my ebcm for a whopping $200.00.how does gm think the consumer should have to pay for this.they have a monopoly because they are the only ones that can fix this!
2017 gmc acadia denali. Consumer writes in regards to mechanical issues. *ldthe consumer stated the vehicle was running very loud and rough upon initial start up. The check engine and service electric parking brake light illuminated. Service parking brake appeared on the dic, a message stating awd off appeared in the dic. And a notification for an issue with the emissions system also appeared.
Battery died, had to have replaced.car was approximately at 2 year mark when it died.
After shifting to park the vehicle will continuously state "shift to park" and will not allow the driver to turn the vehicle completely off or lock the doors.
While driving in the rain on a highway, i experienced the blind side detection warning .the system shut itself down and no longer gave any side detection at all.after contacting gmc, they said there were no recalls on the vehicle.i saw a service bulletin online, n172097060, but they said my vehicle was not included.
When shifting the vehicle to park and then shutting off the engine, i get an error message 'action required- shift to park'.the vehicle is already in park! i've had to jiggle the shifter, press the brake while jiggling the shifter, restart the vehicle put in reverse, then back in park, and jiggle some more.the radio and lights (both interior & exterior) will not power off and the door chimes nonstop. This happens randomly and it has been a little over a month since the last incident which occurred two days after i had to replace the battery because i missed the error message heading in to work.the last 2 days my husband has disconnected the battery because nothing will work to power off radio & lights.i've had to replace the battery twice now in a new vehicle leased in 2016.the first time was due to brake recall, my vehicle being the only 2017 gmc acadia denali effected by that recall.the brake lights would remain on because the brake was basically sticking, draining the battery.that issue also disabled the cruise control as that feature is unavailable when breaking!this vehicle also had repair to wiring in driver side door due to water getting into the door frame from outside and corroding wires causing detection issues with the key fob.i could not unlock my doors without removing the key to manually unlock.while in the car wash, the vehicle lost connectionwith my key and the driver's seat moved all the way back as it would for easy exit which i had disabled. Message stating key not detected wouldi was told a needed a new battery in my fob, dealership replaced, called & said everything was working as it should.they ran the vehicle through the car wash before i arrived to pick up the car.when i tried to unlock the doors, the vehicle would not recognize the fob.thank goodness the service rep was there to witness the malfunction.
Sunroof won't open, every time i try to open the sunroof it makes a loud popping sound. When i try to tilt the roof one side goes up and the other side stays flat.
When the car is intentionally stopped and shifted into park, the dashboard shows a warning that the car is not in park. It requires moving the gear shift in and out of drive until the electronics recognize the car is in park. Until then, all the car electronics remain active. When the door is opened an alarm sounds because the electronics thinks the car is not in park. The gmc dealership is aware of the problem but claims the parts needed to fix it are unavailable. This first happened over a year ago, but the dealership couldn't recreate the problem. It has started happening again, and the dealership has recognized the problem, but claims the parts are unavailable.
Shortly after i purchased my acadia in may of 2018, it started displaying a shift to park warning when i would put the car in park. I contacted the dealership and they said it was a known issue and they had to replace the shift assembly. Well about 3 weeks ago it started doing it again. Only this time it's worse. It takes several tries and tricks to get the car to recognize it's in park and allow me to shut the car off - when the warning pops up it won't allow the car to power off so all the electronics stay on. I called the dealership and they told me because my extended warranty expired at 79,000 miles and they had already replaced the shift assembly once that there is nothing they can do and i will have to pay out of pocket for this repair even though it's a well documented issue with these vehicles.
Would not shift into park. Was able to shut off engine but electrical system would not shut off. The vehicle was stationary. Dealer had to replace floor shifter and electrical harness.
"shift to park" alert appears when car is in "park" and attempting to shut engine off. Electrical system stays on with bell chiming until i can restart car and re-shift again into "park". This may have to be done multiple times before alert no longer appears. Does not happen every time when attempting to shut off engine, but when it does usually requires multiple restarting/re-shifting to get alert turned off.
When my vehicle was in park & i was going to turn it off it gave me this message action to park when in park. This has happened several times. I have taken it to the dealership & nothing can be done.
The contact owns a 2017 gmc acadia. While operating the vehicle, smoke and sparks suddenly appeared from the vents inside the vehicle. The driver stopped the vehicle and called the fire department. When the fire department arrived, flames were present under the hood on the driver's side. The flames were extinguished and the cause of the fire was investigated. It was determined that the electronic module casing had blown off and the module had caught fire due to an electrical short. A police report was filed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The dealer was not notified. The failure mileage was unknown.
When car is put into park a 'action required' comes up saying 'shift into gesr' which the vehicle is already in park. Therefore, will not shut off causing the battery to drain and die.
My acadia will not turn off when placed in park.there is a sensor on the transmission that tells the vehicle that it is in park and allow it to turn off.i had this repaired once under warranty, now it has happened for the second time.it is an obvious issue that warrants a recall. If the vehicle happens to turn the engine off, with this warning, the electronics stay on and drain your battery unless you start the vehicle and then shift from park to other gears and back to park several times before the engine and electronics will shut off.dealership told me when we took it the first time that they had several of these replaced already.
When i put my car in park i get a warning that says my car is not in park action required. The vehicle bell continues to ding and will not allow me to lock the car. My fear is getting out the vehicle and it starting to roll not knowing if the vehicle is actually in park. This is very scary not knowing if it is safe to get out of the vehicle.
When parking the vehicle and attempting to shut off, the acadia gives the message "shift to park". The vehicle is clearly in park and i must start the vehicle again and shift to reverse or another position and turn off. The vehicle will not allow me to lock the vehicle and keeps power to the vehicle (draining the battery) until it recognizes that it is indeed in park. This has caused a stall and the vehicle to possibly still be in gear when parked leading to a rolling hazard. Has taken as many as 15 times for the vehicle to realize it is in park. General motors has issued a tsb (18-na-297) regarding this issue, but is placing the cost of the fix on the consumer. This is a defective piece of equipment that has started a class action lawsuit.
The horn is very hard to honk. It takes my wife both hands to activate the horn. I have seen similar complaints on the computer. I have been back and forth with a gm representative for about 5 moths and have gotten nowhere. They apparently do not see this as a safety concern. I do. I have taken the car back to the dealer and they said they adjusted the horn, but there was no improvement. We checked 3 other acadias on the lot, and they all had this problem.
I have several things that has went wrong with my vehicle since i had bought it two months after i got it it was in the shop sometimes whenever i parked it would not restart brake lights will stay on i've had my check engine light come service brake light has came on i've had the middle seat belt replaced twice nothing stuck in it it just will not latch it is back in the shop now whenever i put it in park it is telling me to shiftit into park i had my car for two years and with in the two years it has been in the shop 15 times so much for having a new car and in joying it
Horn has not worked from day one. Dealer says can't fix until gm redesigns a solution.sad.
I got this vehicle brand new in 2016 it has approx43000 miles on it. Last tuesday it would not start nothing worked towed to the gmx dealer they said it was a map light!!!! and it ran the battery down well today it did the same thing i do not believe it was the battery the same day it went out i received a applicaion download, i have no idea what that was. I paid alot of money for this vwhicle and i think there should be a recall before this problem causes death ' the vehicle is still at the dealership-i called to reort this problen to gmc the first evening noting was done either, called gmc ro toe didnt even show up
Keeps telling me to put vehicle in park when it's already in park. Also not consistent about telling you to check back seat. Sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't. It's turned on.
Starting about a month ago when i put my car in park and then turn my vehicle off a 'shift to park' warning comes on and the car will not turn off. The car is in park and i have to shift to a different gear and back to park trying to get it to register it is in park. Sometimes it takes multiple times of trying this before it will recognize it. My vehicle is past the 36,000 miles with about 42,000 miles.
When car is in park and the button to turn off the vehicle is pressed a action required shift to park message is displayed and the vehicle will not turn off.the vehicle does not recognize it is in park and will not shut off.
I purchased a new 2017 gmc acadia on december 14th 2017. On october 11th 2018, my acadia was rendered completely disabled by a what has been described by the dealership as a " dead battery"i was almost locked in the vehicle because the entire electrical system failed and the electronic locks would not operate. There was no previous indication, notification or warning by thevehicle and monitoring service or of an impending battery failureobviously, a 10 month old battery in a new car should not be completely drained after only 10 months of ownership ( leading me to believe there may be more at play than just a bad battery). Had this happened anywhere else besides my driveway, it would have been a major issue. The vehicle was then towed to the nearest authorized gmc repair facility.the dealership ran diagnostic tests of the electrical system and found nothing wrong, but this still leaves me with doubts about the reliability of the vehicle and integrity of the electrical system.
Vehicle will not shift into park so you can turn off vehicle and exit car.cannot secure vehicle.what is is going to take to get this problem recalled?surely someone will not have to die because a vehicle will not shift into park?there is a class action lawsuit filed against gmc for this issue.please do the right thing and have them recall this problem.
Service side detection system warning came on last year.i took it to dealership since i have extended warranty to cover problems like this.dealership refused to fix because i had taken a light hit to the rear fender area where the sensor is on 02/06/2016.friends told me this is a major problem with these vehicles so i looked online and was appalled at the complaints!i am retired and on a fixed income and can't afford the $1,600 or more right now.as a senior this was a reason i purchased this vehicle.now that it does not work i have to be extra careful with blind spots!this warning came on and function stopped working when car was turned on.
1 month ago received "shift to park" notices that would not allow the vehicle to be powered off.would restart engine, move shifting lever multiple times, and eventually would allow vehicle to be powered off (electrically).took to dealership and they replaced the shifting lever, reporting the issue was fixed.two days ago, when parking, the engine shut off, but again received the shift to park notice, with electrical system still on.this time, took my foot off the brake and the car started rolling backwards.could not restart engine, and shifting lever was stuck in place.had to set the parking break and wait for a tow truck.electrical system remained on the entire time.fortunately this occurred in my driveway and not somewhere where i would have bee stranded.
The issue involved the car failing to recognize it is in park and will not shut off while also rolling.the issue first came up in november of 2018 and gmc replaced the shifter assembly under warranty.it has has reappeared as of october 2020 but there is no recall or other means to fix it and it presents a hazard given the car transports our 3 year old son.
Car will not recognize that the car is in park and will not shut off.
It is very difficult to sound the horn.it takes multiple presses and often won't sound without use of both hands.this is a safety hazard.it is an ongoing hazard.
Gear shift would go into park but would not turn off engine, lock doors, turn off lights. Warning light read to "place in park."
When putting the vehicle into park, an error is displayed stating to shift the vehicle into park, even though the shifter is in p.in order to get this message to go away, i have to move the shifter up and down multiple times.could take up to 20 min to get the error to go away.i can not leave the vehicle until the error is off because the lights stay on and will drain the battery.i also notice that the vehicle rolls a little more after multiple attempts to get error message off.this is concerning that it may not realize its in park and roll into another vehicle causing damage to both or roll away.i took to my dealer and was told this is a 'known' issue and is not covered under warranty, nor is there a recall.i just paid out of pocket for new tires because gm knew the tires placed were 'wearing' too soon based on mileage.now, i am being told i will have to pay about $600 to get this fixed.gm knows of issues and not fixing them is wrong.this is not a new issue, has been listed as complaints for the past year, yet gm has done nothing to fix and continue to make the vehicle with the same issues.frustrating that i have to spend the money to fix an issue they know about!this needs pushed back to gm to hold them accountable and make this right.the shifter issue should be a recall and fixed.
Vehicle will not shift into park, even though the car is not moving.cannot turn vehicle off while this message is being displayed. Cannot lock/secure vehicle while this message is displayed.
This issue has happened to me atleast 4 times in the last 8 months . I will go to start my car and it will show 'no remote access ' then completely shut off or drain the battery . I ha w had to have my car towed 3 times and then one time after 45 minutes it just turned on . This is only a 2017 acdua abs i have only had it a year and a half . It's had leaking heater fluid issues as well .
Shifter keeps locking. Happened 4 times where shifter had gotten stuck in shift and unable to control car. Gear assembly has been replaced 4 times and nothing is working.
Stopped at an intersection for a red light, upon green light, accelerator tapped to enter intersection and forward collision braking system applied brakes. Nothing was in front of vehicle at time of forward collision braking system application. Tapped accelerator again and vehicle hesitated but slowly accelerated to normal speeds. The vehicle behind at the time barely stopped which would have rear-ended my vehicle and caused a chain reaction. Continued on to work, carefully applying accelerator after each stop. Very scary for the vehicle to stop in the middle of a busy intersection with traffic behind and not immediately allowing driver to control acceleration.
Horn will not honk unless excessive pressure is applied. It takes 2 hands to honk the horn. I have never seen a horn that required more than 1 finger to honk.
The contact owns a 2017 gmc acadia. The contact stated that the vehicle was shifted into the off position with the engine depowered however, the electrical functions continue to function. The brake assist and steering assist warning indicators illuminated. Discovery chevrolet buick gmc (2705 us-421, boone, nc) where the failure could not be diagnosed. The failure was not repaired however, the gmc manufacturer informed the technicians to tighten the tensioner cable to temporarily repair the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 16,000.kh
'steering assist reduced drive with care' warning light shows up at least once a month. The air conditioner and temperature gauge do not work when this is on. We had it checked and there was zero freon in it. Had that refilled totaling over $400 because it's a special kind that takes the 1234 hook up. Steering assist reduced drive with care warning light came on again like it does every month. Husband popped the hood to take a look and it appears freon has spewed while steering assist light is on, explaining why it was empty when we took it to be checked. The check engine light is also on now too. When powering vehicle off, a message on the screen says 'climate control not available when vehicle is powered off'. Additionally we get a 'shift to park' message when we power off the vehicle. Ready to seek legal action
I receive a 'shift to park' warning message when my vehicle is clearly in the park position and it prevents my car from being able to completely turn off. I have have had this same issue supposedly repaired at the gmc dealership on two separate occasions and it is now giving me the same error. I am now no longer able to open my garage door from my vehicle, i have had several instances in which the vehicle does not recognize either one of my key fobs.
Vehicle "shift to park" can not be fixed... Vehicle will not shift to park, rolls out of driveway even though the vehicle shifter is physically in "park"- vehicle was serviced for this multiple times, and under warranty. Dangerous
Beginning in may, 2020, my acadia started saying "shift to park" when i would try to shut it off, although it is in park. It has increasingly gotten worse and it now happens every day. This morning. I had to restart the car, move backwards, forwards, shut off car and repeat 7 times before it finally let me shut the car off without the warning.
Getting a "shift into park" message when the car has already been put into park. It takes several times restarting the car and moving the shift lever in and out of park for it to recognize that it is in park.
Vehicle had multiple (more than 2) warning lights flashing on and off, while rpm and mph needle would fluctuate simultaneously.this would happen while in the driveway and also while in motion.vehicle would not accelerate with accelerator pedal fully pressed, especially on an incline.while this was occurring i had to exit the highway and turn around in an adjacent subdivision.i could not get out of the way of a car in the neighborhood because i was trying to go forward on the street due to a slight incline.it would also jerk into gear when moving from reverse and drive.had this happened in a traffic intersection, it would have been deadly.this car is unsafe.after 6 months of being 'fixed' it has started happening again.the dealership has had the vehicle for a week this time without being able to fix it.the last time it was at the dealership for around 10 days.
When shifting to park and shutting the vehicle offmessage displays shift to park. I have had the shifter cable replaced and 3 months later it is doing it again. Obviously there is another issue but gm cannot figure the issue out.
The 2017 gmc acadia i own will not recognize when the vehicle is in park.it states to move to park to shut the vehicle off when the vehicle is already in park.this happens when trying to shut off the vehicle but i am unable to because of the "shift to park" warning.i have to push the stick forward and turn the car on and off several times for the message to disappear.had this fixed by gmc but they refused to cover under powertrain warranty.
Horn button is very difficult to activate. Takes 2 hands to depres...safety concern.
The car will not recognize or shift to park.. The car will not turn off while the shifter is in park thinking that the car isn't in park.this is a safety issue since you believe it is in park when the car is saying it isn't and will not clear the alert unless you continuously turn the vehicle on and off and toggle the shifter.i have a video of the issue being reported
Shift to park error message while depressing brake and shifting vehicle to park position not moving in stationary position and turning off vehicle error message occurs will not allow vehicle to turn off fully nor recognize vehicle is in park .
The car will not recognizes it is in park and willnot let you shut it off sometimes. Even worse it lets you shut it off but isn't actually al the way off. So the battery dies. Gm dealer put new shifter in and it happened again. Then they put a bother new sensor in and it happened again.
After 2 years of ownership of a new gmc acadia my suv would not shut off once i parked my car. It would not be able to detect that i shifted into park after arriving at my destination. All the electronics would continue to run. I would have have to stay in the car and play with the shifter until the computer finally read that it was in park.after taking the car to the dealership the suv was fixed with an new part that seems to have resolved the problem for now but as far as i am aware gmc is still doesn't know why the problem is being caused so i am waiting to see if it happens again. After getting it fixed now my vehicle gives me another warning every time my "auto engine off" is activated at when i come to a stop. Now i continuously get "stebilititrc" warning every time i stop. They fixed one problem and now i have another. It is my family car so i just want to make sure it is safe but gmc doesn't seem to know whats wrong or how to fix it even though they are aware of many acadias having the same problem.
The car will not turn off and reports on the dashboard display 'shift to park' even though the shifter is in park.truck will roll when it shouldn't be possible. Also, unless you can get it to acknowledge you're in park, headlights and all accessories stay on.an alarm sounds if you leave the vehicle.it's a mess and although gmc knew about the issue in mid 2018, refuses to fix it without payment.this should be a mandatory recall.
It says to put in park when the vehicle is in park mode and the engine won't turn off
When the car is shifted into park, the dashboard shows a warning that the car is not in park.if i leave the car like that, all the electrical stuff stays on.my husband was at a gas station, and pumping gas is not safe with the car not shutting off.also i am concerned if the vehicle will be able to roll.my niece also has an acadia, and 3 young sons all still in car seats, so she has to use the 3rd row seat, so getting her sons out of a vehicle is not a quick chore.if the car will not shut off and go into park and can roll, it would be a disaster if her children were still in the vehicle still strapped into their seats.
When parking vehicle after placing vehicle in park and pushing ignition off dash warns shift to park and vehicle will not turn off completely. Must restart vehicle shift to a different gear then shift back to park and turn vehicle off again.
The vehicle will not turn off.it keeps stating that it is not in park.have moved shifter between gears repeatedly, the dash display says it is in park, the console says it is in park, but the vehicle will not turn off.this has happened on flat surfaces, and inclines.the end result is a vehicle that thinks it is on, wont lock doors, and kills the battery due to remaining in the on position.
Vehicle does not acknowledge that you are in park and will not turn the vehicle off completely. The engine shuts off, but lights and everything else stays on. If you exit the vehicle it beeps and the horn honks.
Although in park, the dash alerts the following message : 'shift to park' this alert does not allow the vehicle to be shut off fully as the radio still plays, lights remain in and the dash remains lit. Have tried to restart and shift into different gears then return to park as well as engage the emergency break. Nothing works to fix this.
The vehicle, when parked, shows a warning that states"action required:shift to park" and the vehicle will not turn off. This has led to the vehicle dying in parking lots, at home, once when on vacation. The shift lever is in park, the dashboard shows that it is in park, and when the engine off button is pressed the vehicle will not turn off and asks the driver to shift the car to park, where it already is. This has been a hazard to our family and our families health as the vehicle will then die eventually because the battery runs out. It is apparent that there is a severe malfunction in the electrical/gearbox/computer system not recognizing where the shifter is at the moment. I would like to add a photo but if i were to turn the car on to take the photo the car likely will not turn off, and then die once again. This has been ongoing for approximately a month to 6 weeks. I will put the date below as approximately july 4th 2020.
After releasing electronic parking brake, the service parking brake light comes on and the parking brake light flashes. Parking brake is no longer operational.
Hello,is anyone investigating the horn problem with the 2017 gmc acadia that is well-documented in many places, including your own nhtsa website?the same problem likely exists with the 2018 models as well.this has been an issue since the '17 models were first introduced in 2016 and gm says they can't fix it. A safety issue and they can't fix it?this vehicle needs to be recalled before someone gets hurt, or worse. Gm dealers are still selling these vehicles to uninformed buyers and they will not fix the problem.
Our 2017 gmc acadia denali says to put the car in park before turning it off when the car is already in park and engine off. All electronics stay on and will kill the battery.
When the vehicle is shifted into park to turn off the engine the sensor shows it is not in park and will not let you turn the engine off.
My 2017 gmc acadia shut off lost all power for a couple mins at a busy intersection in september 2020.all power restore after several minutes and attempts to restart.i took in to the dealership however they could not duplicate.now on the 28th of december 2020,the vehicle lost all power again at the same busy intersection!no power at all!could not even turn my hazard lights on to warn traffic that was coming up behind me on the highway!the vehicle remained like this for 10-15 minutes!couldn't even have anyone push it off the road because we couldn't shift it to neutral either.i took it back to the dealership as gm advised and they still could not duplicate.the dealership tried but cannot make sense of why this keeps occurring randomly.i had my small children in the car this time and we are lucky we did not get rear ended!i fear that my family is not safe in this vehicle.

While in motion on a city or freeway approximately 35-70 mph, my gmc acadia will randomly disable the steering assist, lane keep assist, and forward collision automatic braking as well as disable the cruise control feature. The error would show that these features were disabled on the display screen around the speedometer and could not manually be re-enabled with the buttons throughout the car. However, when pulling over and turning off the vehicle and restarting it, the feature would reset as if nothing has went wrong. Sometimes it will revert back to the same issue(s) 5-10 minutes later, and sometimes not at all for a few days or even weeks before starting back over again with the same problems.
Keeps telling me to put vehicle in park when it's already in park. Also not consistent about telling you to check back seat. Sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't. It's turned on.
2017 gmc acadia has 'shift to park' error for the last 6 mths. Will not acknowledge the car is in park and will not turn car off completely. It has caused other issues with the car like battery/car hesitating to start in the morning. Also the radio/bluetooth not disconnecting after turning car off.you have. This is a long process to get the car to realize it is in park. After turning car on and off, shifting car out of park and back into park. And also wiggling the shift gear. This after knowing it is an on hoing issue for well over a year is still not a recall and they still have not made a fix for this.

Car gives "shift to park" notification when car is shut off even though it clearly shows it is in park. Car will not fully shut off. Have to turn car back on and wiggle shifter or put it in reverse/drive and then back in to park for the car to fully turn off.
I have requested at least 4 times for repair of my car 2017 acadia. Several caution light on the dashboard comes on including the engine sensor(malfunction indicator lamp).while driving the car it looses power to accelerate. When pressing the gas pedal the car stalls. This issue has happened on both the highway and city. There have also been times when turning into a parking lot i have felt some vibration. Additionally, the car dashboard gives out commands for putting the car in park after it is stationary.

I have a 2017 acadia. When the car is shifted into park, the dashboard shows a warning that says "shift to park" even though the car is already in park.i have to turn the car off and on several times and slam the shifter into park until the car finally registers that it's in park..if i leave the car like that, all the electrical stuff stays on and my battery will die. Additionally, when this happens, the car is not in park and seems to be in gear or at least in neutral because it will roll.this is a safety hazard and happens on a daily occurrence.
When car is put into park a 'action required' comes up saying 'shift into gesr' which the vehicle is already in park. Therefore, will not shut off causing the battery to drain and die.
When shutting down the vehicle a "shift to park" message appears on the console and the electrical system does not shut down.in order to clear the problem, the vehicle must be restarted and the shifter moved between gears and back to park, sometimes several time before successfully shutting down.dealer said that even though the car had only 35000 miles on it, it wasn't covered under warranty as the vehicle had been in service more that 36 months.charged me $590.00 to replace the shifter assembly.opened a case with gmc, but they declined to do anything about it.
The contact owns a 2017 gmc acadia. While driving, the check engine and traction warning indicators illuminated. In addition, the vehicle hesitated and stalled. The failure recurred three times and the vehicle was taken to brenengen chevrolet cadillac (531 theater rd, onalaska, wi 54650, (608) 783-8900). The dealer diagnosed that fuel was leaking, the engine was misfiring, and the motor failed and needed to be replaced. The dealer called gm and was waiting for more information. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 57,720.
2 instances within a 2 week period.on 12/13/2017 vehicle is being driven and engine power is lost and car turns off we had to pull over side of the road when trying to restart the car it sputters and wont start..2nd instanceon 12/24/2017 car was once car was put in gear it stalled would not restart or even turn over. Dealer replaced battery and fuel pump regulator module the 1st time.2nd time dealer does not know what the problem is.
The contact owns a 2017 gmc acadia. The contact stated the vehicle failed to acknowledge when the gear shifter was placed in the park position causing the battery to become drained. Additionally, the contact was unable to turn off the vehicle with the gear shifter in neutral. Randy wise buick gmc (2530 owen rd, fenton, mi 48430, (810)936-4300 stated that the warranty was expired and there was no recall on the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and informed of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 36,000.
Between 1300-1500 rpm there is a hesitation for acceleration. It seems the transmission shudders at this rpm at different speeds. This will be the second time the vehicle has been to the dealership with this complaint.the 1st time this occurred the technician reported the car was several bulletins behind and was brought current.this did not resolve the issue.if anything the issue became more noticeable. A brake sensor and gas pedal assembly have also been replaced due to defect.
My 2017 keeps having transmission issues. At the dealership the transmission fluid is burnt. The 2017 gmc acadia limited has the same issues with the engine as the standard 2017 gmc acadia
Shift to park problem, the dealer tried fixing it 3 times now and having a problem with the wheel. When sometimes turning the car. I can feel something is like stock on tge wheel making me feel like the wheel is gonna get off. I trued contacting the dealer and chevy office for a buyback but they aren't approving it cos they said i dont have enough reason for them to approve it. Even tho i keep telling them i am not gonna wait for anything bad to happen since i have a 5 month old baby with me. Tge obly thing they suggesting is having it checked. And that's it.
When parking vehicle after placing vehicle in park and pushing ignition off dash warns shift to park and vehicle will not turn off completely. Must restart vehicle shift to a different gear then shift back to park and turn vehicle off again.
I went to a local dealer and complained about a vibration/rumble while driving.it happened mostly around 1200-1700 rpm.the service manager heard of the problem.there was a manufacturers bulletin outlining the problem and suggesting a fuel management software upgrade.this was done.the bulletin also applied to cadillac xt5, which is on a shared platform with my 2107 gmc acadia denali awd.there are now several new rpm ranges when the vibration/rumble occurs in addition to the old 1200-1700.not only has the old problem re-appeared but there are certain conditions about 1500 rpm when i am starting out from a stop for about 50 feet where the problem seems to almost stall out and then with a big clank (like down shifting or transmission is slipping and then suddenly engages) and takes off.i cannot help but think there is going to be a mechanical breakdown of something due to the sudden engagement and clank or even stalling out in traffic, if this problem is not fixed.i contacted the dealer once again but have not heard back yet.
Gear shift would go into park but would not turn off engine, lock doors, turn off lights. Warning light read to "place in park."
When the vehicle is shifted into park to turn off the engine the sensor shows it is not in park and will not let you turn the engine off.
2017 gmc acadia denali awd. While accelerating on to a highway, after moving forward partially into a lane, my vehicle locked up and would not move forward. When pressing the gas pedal, a loud griding noise would occur. Weeks later, problem undiagnosed and vehicle still at gmc for repair.
Starting vehicle after 10 hours of vehicle not running, the vehicle cranks/has a delayed start for approximately 4 to 8 seconds. Battery, alternator and start was check and all was in working order. I was told the issue may be a defective fuel pump, due to the engine losing fuel pressure after not running for an extended period of time.
I attempt to place my acadia into park and power down my vehicle only to get a "shift to park" error message. I am unable to power down my vehicle and not fully park my vehicle even though i have parked it. This occurs daily and has occured 15-20 times in 1 attempt to park. I have to attempt to turn car back "on" and then put car into drive or reverse driving about a foot or so than attempt to repark my vehicle. Only to have to repeat this step over and over til it finally disappears. Gmc customer service associate claims they are unaware of the issue. Of course this issue only occurred after my vehicle warranty expired.
Engine feels like its going to stall when stopped at stop signs or red lights.the car lunges forward when in park on an incline.
Vehicle states, 'shift to park,' when trying to turn off enginewhenit is already in park. Turn vehicle back on and have to shift multiple times out and then back into park before car will recognize it is in fact in park to shut down entire engine. Have replaced battery once already. Vehicle is stationary and foot is on break when trying to turn car off. Has been happening since purchase but, just got fed up with it.
With vehicle parked i get a message of shift in park and vehicle doesn't fully turn off. It is known as an issue for gm vehicles - bulletin issued.
Shifter keeps locking. Happened 4 times where shifter had gotten stuck in shift and unable to control car. Gear assembly has been replaced 4 times and nothing is working.
The headlights on the vehicle are totally inadequate for night driving the dealership told me that it's a common complaint but general motors has no fix for it. It is dangerous and someone could get seriously injured or worse.
The contact owns a 2017 gmc acadia. While driving unknown speeds, the headlights failed to produce adequate light. Thevehicle was taken to king buick gmc (16200 frederick rd, gaithersburg, md 20877), but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 8,600.
My 2017 gmc acadia has such poor headlight illumination that i cannot see adequately to drive at night. I can barely see to get up-and-down the hill to our driveway. Even on bright illumination, the headlights are inadequate. There should be a recall on the headlights. Otherwise, there will be accidents. People will get hurt or killed and there will be lawsuits.
As much as i love the vehicle as a whole, it unfortunately has the worst headlights i have experienced in any vehicle that i have ever driven. As someone who has perfect vision, i often find myself squinting to see the road ahead of me and various signs. It has gotten to the point where i have resorted to driving with my high beams on, just so i can see where i'm going in city streets, highway driving, and making turns. I've never had this issue with any other vehicle that i have driven and the unfortunate thing is that my father has nearly the same identical vehicle as me and is equally dissatisfied with the headlights. I would consider these as dangerous as anything to driver, pedestrian, and property related safety. I would strongly urge that if gm does not step up and correct this dangerous obstacle to my life, then i would strongly urge an investigation and an immediate recall of this vehicle by this organization.
The headlight high beam light pattern is a very dim and narrow focused beam and does not allow enough side to side illumination.the left and right side lighting is virtually non-existent on wet roads when the high beams are on.the high beams also converge to a small narrow spot on the roadway.the lack of effective left and right side road lighting is a safety issue as it is extremely difficult to see people or objects.on the side of the road.also, the low beams lack sufficient.brightness although the left and right side light pattern is sufficient.although my complaint was escalated to a gmc senior advisor, no action was taken by gmc.the advisor stated, "works as designed".no alternative bulb or after market lighting was recommended by gmc as i was told this would void the warranty.the safety concerns my family and i feel about the vehicles headlights were dismissed by the company.
From purchase to date, the headlights are terrible in good weather. In bad weather its very hard to drive safely in this vehicle.visibility is severely limited for the driver at night.
Head lights are very dim making driving the vehicle at night very unsafe. Took vehicle to gmc dealer, tech said that head lights are within gmc specs. Too insane to drive this vehicle at night an accident or even death can occur.
Exterior headlights are ineffective and unsafe while driving at night.poor lighting on my vehicle has caused near accidents on the freeway with deer and stalled vehicleson the on the road.
Headlights are dim to the point of being dangerous. Dealer confirms that all 2017 acadia are like this. This is by no means the first complaint about this issue. An accident waiting to happen.
The contact owns a 2017 gmc acadia. The contact stated that the headlights failed to illuminate up to standards. The local dealer (todd wenzel buick gmc of grand rapids, 2727 28th st se, grand rapids, mi, 49512) was made aware of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The manufacturer stated that there was no failure and did not assist. The failure mileage was approximately 1,200.
I have new gmc acadia slt 2017 and head lights at not very bright at night at all, rainy night they are very dull, i was back to dealer 2 times and called gmc directly 2 times to complain and they told me is they meet spects,, they sid thed would need recall to make corrections, not very happy about lights,, car is good.
Headlights are very dim while driving at night. Especially when roads are wet. When the roads are dry there still isn'tthat much of a difference. Driving at night with these headlights are very dangerous and could cause myself harm if not corrected.
The 2017 gmc acadia does not have any turn signal indicators that are visible on the side of the vehicle. The turn indicator is embedded in the headlight and is not visible to vehicles along side or perpendicular to the acadia.
Low beam headlight performance inadequate.vertical aim is ok but luminous lux is low, and lateral coverage during low speed turning is insufficient.if this vehicle meets the fmvss standard for lighting, consider raising the minimum standards.lighting is a safety issue nhtsa now tests for.unless the customer does a test drive at night (can be impossible during the summer), there is no way to learn of a deficiency before purchasing.
2017 gmc acadias equipped with hid headlamps with low beams activated are blinding to oncoming drivers.
I almost hit a pedestrian walking across the street in front of my car at night as i did not see him due to,the headlights being totally inadequate to see in front of the car and the lights have a blind spot when illuminated as the do not shine high enough. There is like a shelf effect that won't illuminate above four feet of the road in front of you. Also the light does not illuminate the road enough especially in wet conditions. It is like having no,light at all.
Night driving, has become dangerous.headlights are either a poor technology or are not aimed properly.i am making this complaint in hopes that the many others will come forward to let gm know how serious this is. I know that i am not the only complaint.i am an experienced driver of many different vehicles.this is bad!
Slt-2 with halogen projector beam headlights.very very poor high & low beam performance. The 6yr old equinox i traded in did a better job of lighting the road in front of you. Had the dealer checked them out and said they were ok.i had them adjust the low beam down to provide better road visibility but forward illumination distance is less. The sales & service department said there is nothing they can do but i could look into after market headlights.contacted gm customer service (case # 8-2826579557), their design team reviewed my concern and they have no planned changes to improve their headlights.if these lights pass any federal lighting requirements, the testing must have been done in a lab and not out in the real world.gm did a lot of things right on this new designed acadia but the headlights is not one of them.next step is to look for after market lights.
The contact owns a 2017 gmc acadia. While driving at night, the low beam headlamps failed to adequately provide illumination for safe driving. The dealer diagnosed that the headlamps operated as intended. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 2,200.
Low beams are too low....poor illumination....high beams illuminate the top of trees.
The radio is dangerously bright when driving at night. The brightness is affected by the backup camera; once the backup camera is activated the radio brightness is increased and will not dim until you shut the car off. There is no easy way to shut the display off without navigating through the touchscreen menus, and if you adjust anything with the radio or hvac the display comes back on at full brightness. Vehicle has been to the dealer multiple times, with gm engineer visiting to see the issue. There are some acadias with the same radio that isn't affected by this problem. Was told by the engineer that there is nothing that can be done and i have to just get used to the extra brightness. This "extra brightness" is too dangerous for me to drive at night, as it impairs my vision. I am now stuck with a $32000 vehicle that i cannot safely drive at night.
Adaptive-cruise-control (acc)/forward collision braking(avoidance) system applied very strong brakes(twice) in certain scenario when using acc, increasing the chances of vehicle behind rear-ending.while acc is enabled, say your vehicle comes to fullstop as vehicle in front has come to a full stop(say at traffic signal) and acc applies full brakes. Traffic ahead starts moving again, but since vehicle won't move on its own driver is required to press accelerator to get it moving again or acc to resume its operation (this is by design). In such scenario if driver ends up pushing accelerator a bit harder(i.e. More than just tapping it), acc applies very strong brakes stopping vehicle right there. By this time vehicle behind you has started moving already and might rear-end due to abrupt stop. I guess acc thinks distance between you and vehicle ahead is very less and thinks its going to collide and hence applies strong brakes. But this is a bad design/programming since it expects driver to push acc. Pedal for acc to resume operations, but if driver does it bit more than what acc likes, there is a chance of accident. Gm should perform more tests with its acc around such scenarios and fine-tune their acc software.
The contact owns a 2017 gmc acadia. The contact stated that the vehicle was stopped at a certain railroad track crossing when the railroad crossing stop signal was activated. Once the train had passed, the vehicle automatically applied the brakes intermittently while attempting to drive across the train tracks. The failure had occurred on several occasions. The vehicle was taken to opeequon motors located at838 e. Moler ave, martinsburg, wv 25404 however, the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 29,000.
Oct 23, 2019 we were supposed to bring our car for a service because the check engine is on but before we even get to the dealer the car won't start.we have to call for a towing company. When we get there they said they don't know what's wrong.we called gmc complaint before we got an answer with the dealer on oct 30 they said its a fuel pump recall. Since then we haven't heard from them.it will 6 weeks this week.we just bought this car as certified pre owned last april 2019 now we cant't use it and no updates at all. We don't know when will have our car back.
We purchased a 2017 acadia awd slt on december 28, 2017.there was a recall on gm bulletin #19-na-206 for (shift to park) issue.dealer michael hohl gmc 3700 s carson st, carson city, nv 89701 ordered part but was not installed until 1/13/20. Day after repairs, fueled car and gas gauge would show three quarters full.the fuel range also bounces up and down and is not accurate.is this a gm recall issue?my car is now out of the bumper to bumper warranty to repair this gas gauge problem. We are concerned that we might run out of fuel due to faulty gas gauge reading or was this a problem created by r/r in-line shifter wire harness jumper.car was at dealer for repair (in warranty) @ 27,762 under mileage and is now out of warranty due to three year time span. Now @27,784 miles.
The gas gauge indicator showed 90 miles until empty, but was actually empty. This ourred during a family trip from northern california to southern california. We ran out of gas on top of the grapevine. Finally, after a 3 hour wait, road service brought gas and we were on our way to the nearest gas station.
It seems that all of these cars have a faulty side detection problem. Please check into it. It is a pain and is sad that it seems to happen to all of them. The side detection problem leads to other kinds of problems with the computers ... The light stays on all the time
The side blind zone alert system failed last year and caused the car to die and leave me stranded. The vehicle was still under manufacturers warranty and the dealership stated that the side blind zone system was faulty and replaced the module and sensors. A little over a year later and the system is doing the same thing. I will have to replace the module and sensors. This should not be my problem, gmc has created a faulty sensor system and now consumers are having to dish out 700 plus dollars for the repair. There is a 'bulletin' that conveniently does not cover al vin numbers mine included! how can that be possible if it's the same faulty system? i would like this repair to made by the manufacturer and there should be a class action lawsuit regarding this matter. The vehicle died as i was pulling into a parking lot, thank god! i had to have it towed and repaired
While driving in the rain on a highway, i experienced the blind side detection warning .the system shut itself down and no longer gave any side detection at all.after contacting gmc, they said there were no recalls on the vehicle.i saw a service bulletin online, n172097060, but they said my vehicle was not included.
The contact owns a 2017 gmc arcadia. The contact stated while stopped with the vehicle in park, the shift to park message displayed on the instrument panel with an abnormal chime heard. Additionally, the doors failed to lock securely. The contact called shelton buick gmc inc (855 s. Rochester rd, rochester hills, mi 48307, (248) 266-2156) and was informed that the repair was not covered under warranty. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was contacted. The failure mileage was 25,000. *as
The contact owns a 2017 gmc acadia. The contact stated that after shifting the gear selector to the park position, a message displayed on the instrument panel which stated that the vehicle was not in the park. The contact stated that the failure caused the battery to become drained. The vehicle was towed to greenbrook gmc located at 101 us 22 greenbrook, township nj who diagnosed that the gear selector was defective and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired and the failure was remedied. After retrieving the vehicle, the contact indicated that the vehicle hesitated before responding when the accelerator pedal was depressed. The cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 56,000.
Shift to park error message while depressing brake and shifting vehicle to park position not moving in stationary position and turning off vehicle error message occurs will not allow vehicle to turn off fully nor recognize vehicle is in park .
Shift to park - this is round two (2) that this has had to be replaced!!this is round two (2)of transmission control replacement - which worries me that other transmission issues will occur.acadia is "clearly" in park - and yes i learnt your little trick to wiggle and or touch the +/- button on top of the shift stick to get it to comprehend that it is indeed in park.but that only worked a total of three (3) times. First time was in a parking lot that this occurred - second time in a gas station.having to restart your vehicle and shut it off 10 times just for it to acknowledge it is in park - is humiliating to say the least when you are at a gas station as well as frustrating.you need not to ignore this - as the first time i could not get out of the vehicle. Second time - i was able to - however if one ignores it will end up draining their battery and/or rolling if you are on an incline. Kindly step forward and fix this issue if you want satisfied customers.as i can put only one date - i put the first one 01/13/2020 second replacement 03-21-202027,109 miles. Thank you.
Front right driveshaft separated while driving causing a pull to the right.
Upon turning my ignition off, the "shift to park" warning message appears, even though the display shows that i am in "p" and the brake is on.when i took it to the dealership,i got out of the car and pointed to the message on my display.before the technician even looked into my car, he asked "shift to park"?so obviously this is a well known problem with this gmc repair center.my frustration is that if it is a known defect, why do i have to pay to have it fixed?
Instrument cluster displays "shift to park" even after putting the car on parking. Because of this, driver can be stranded, unable to shut the engine off which may drain battery, or even vehicle may roll over if the vehicle wasn't parked properly because of this.gm should extend the warranty for this issue to all the vehicle owners so that they don't have to pay out of pocket after warranty expires.
Sometimes when i shift into park and turn off the vehicle i get a message that says "shift into park". It is absolutely in park!at that point i have to restart the vehicle, take it out of park and put it into reverse and then put it back into park.this does not happen everyday but quite frequently.
The transmission gear shifter is getting loose and a constant from the car computer asking the driver to shift to park when the car is turned off while the gear shifter is on park and the car is stationary.
The contact owns a 2017 gmc acadia. The contact stated that the gear shifter was shifted to park but failed to engage in park. The instrument panel indicated shift to park. The vehicle was taken to kutztown buick gmc cadillac (14165 kutztown rd, fleetwood, pa 19522) and was diagnosed that the gear shifter needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the vehicle was previously repaired for the same failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 44,000.
After putting the car in park and turning it off a 'shift into park' message displays on screen leaving the car still on. Very dangerous when i always have my 3 kids with me at all times. We have to keep messing with it until it goes away before we can safely get out and feel confident its ok to leave the car.
My 2017 gmc acadis 6 cylinder awd has excessive vibrations that occur at 1400-1600 rpm and at various speeds.it seems like the transmission refuses to shift and it lasts for up to a quarter mile.vibration is most pronounced at speeds of 55-60 mph the dealer diagnosis says it is functioning normal. The struts were replace at1390 miles and motor mounts adjusted, problem remains, auto brought to dealer for recall as per bulletin 17109 but it still vibrates excessively. The lead mechanic at the dealership said the auto adjusts to the driver and said the vibrations will stop at about 2500 miles. The car now has 2900 miles and it still feels like the transmission is going to fail. The vibration is uncomfortable and although the dealership said the car is safe it does not feel so.it seems impossible for a vehicle to be functioning properly with this continual erratic vibrations.
I have experienced the same problem as a multitude of acadia owners as is well publicized via the internet and class action lawsuits, which are now beginning initiation. My dealership tells me they have a lot of customers with the same problem which usually starts when the vehicle has around 15k miles on the odometer. The problem is the intermittent shift to park display on the information center. It tells me that the shifter is not in park position when i go to turn the engine off,but it really is in position. When it happens i cannot turn off the automobile without restarting it. Sometimes it will turn itself off after a few seconds without any intervention on my part, sometimes more, sometimes after i jiggle the shift lever, but many times i have to restart the engine one or more times to turn the vehicle off. If the system can't be sure if i'm truly in park position, how can it be sure that the lever is really engaged which would enable the car to roll away. I have had it back for repair service twice during the bumper to bumper warranty period to resolve the issue based on gmc guidance. That service tends to resolve it for a while but it always comes back again after a period of time. The last time i was told a jumper was installed so i should never get the problem again but it has returned and have had quite a few occurrences over the past two months.there is absolutely no pattern to the problem.what is really frustrating me is that i recently took it back again (after my bumper to bumper warranty was over) and they tell me there is another service bulletin from gmc which says the original shifter cable is too short and they need to install a longer one. Now they want me to pay $375 to install the new cable which is wrong wrong wrong in order to resolve a gmc safety issue which was the result of an original design issue by gmc. I refused as this must be covered by gmc and should be the subject of a government mandated safety recall.
When i put the car in park and try to shut off my car, it beeps and tells me that i have to shift my car into park. (although my car is already physically in park)this takes me, at times, several attempts. Sometimes i can wiggle the shifter, other times i have to turn my car off and on and switch i to drive and reverse several times before it lets me shut off my car properly so i can exit. I just purchased this car several weeks ago and it just started. This only happens when i am stopped and trying to exit my car. It has happened while trying to go into work (it made me late!), when i was out of town (4 attempts just to be able to get out!). One of these times i'm going to literally be stuck trying to get my car shut off. My concern is that although my car is parked, it may not actually be "locked" into park and could possibly still be in neutral.
My car does not recognize that it has been put in parkit dings and tells me to put in park fortunately by shifting again several times i have been able to shut the car off . I am afraid of what will happen when i can not shut it off . This problem started in may 2020.has happened multiple times.
I am getting a message shift to park!on 2017 gmc acadia after putting my vehicle in park unable to lock car and lights and radio remain on. It took me more than an hour to get my vehicle to stop displaying message. I am very concerned and appalled at the same time upon investigating i have discovered gmc is aware of this problem and does not have a fix for it. I really wished it would have been revealed and i could have chosen another vehicle that is very bad business practices my vehicle is only two years old and i am still making payments.
The vehicle shifts very harshly between second and third gears when accelerating. Sometimes it is so harsh that it slams you back in the seat. The dealer says that it is "normal". It began after owning the vehicle for one full year.
Car continues to tell you to shift to park after it has been placed in park. The car will not allow you to lock or exit the vehicle. To remedy you must shake the gear shift, or wait a period of time, start the car, place in drive and shift back to start. Sometimes, you have to do this several times before the car will realize it is in park.
Car states 'action required, shift to park' when shifter is in park and car is turned off, causing me to be stranded in my car. Accessories stay on and doors will not lock.
Randomly when the car is put into park and the button is pressed to stop the engine a message comes up on dashboard stating shift to park... Sometimes you can wiggle the gear shift and the message goes away, sometimes you must start, move, and stop the car as many as 15 to 20 times to get this to go away.if you exit the car why the message is on dashboard, the horn will chirp at you, and the vehicle is not stable, if it is on a decline it will roll, the radio stays on etc.i found a gm service bulletin regarding this, stating the part to be replaced for the acadia was 13528228.i have scheduled an appt with the local gm dealer to have this looked at.it could potentially be very dangerous given the right scenario, if a kid or someone hopped out of the car and it wasnt in park.the car has 36,000 miles on it.
When the car is parked on a flat surface (inside the garage, parking garage, parking lot), the car will display "shift to park" when it is already in park. The accessories stay on until the driver is able to get the car's computer to notice the car is in park.
When the shifteris placed into park the screen shows "place shifter into park" the radio still works, screen will not turn off, and the car cannot be locked making it unsafe, easy to get into or stolen.
The "shift to park" warning message shows up and won't permit car to be shutoff. Vehicle is stopped and at rest and is placed in "park" as designated by shift lever light and dashboard indicators, and the auto door unlock feature activated correctly when placed in park. On 9/21/20, it took me about 10 minutes of trying different positions and by physically moving vehicle to a different parking space . Problem occurs sporadically. This same problem has occurred a total of about 5 times in the last 2 weeks but not as severe as this last time.vehicle was previously serviced11/2019, when vehicle was under warranty with 10,062 miles for the same issue in which the dealer replaced a shifter harness. Now, 9/21/20, 10 months later, and 12,400 miles, the same problem has re-emerged. The vehicle is now out of warranty. This is obviously a manufacturing or engineering defect.
When you shift into park, the vehicle does not register as being in park.there is an indicator on the gauge panel saying "shift to park."this is a safety issue, the engine cannot be turned off while in this condition and it does not register the transmission as being in park.this happens every time the vehicle is shifted into park once the vehicle is stopped.
When placing vehicle in park and turning off ignition, the message appears 'shift to park'. Everything is still on in the vehicle, lights radio etc. Sometimes i can wiggle the shift controller and it will disappear or sometimes i have to turn ignition back on and try again to turn off. Sometimes takes several times to get message to disappear.
When shifting vehicle into park, the vehicle still says shift to park and will not turn off.
The contact owns a 2017 gmc acadia. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked with the gear shift lever in the park position, the brake pedal was released and the vehicle rolled backwards. Additionally, the contact stated that on several occasions the contact was unable to turn the vehicle off. On one such occasion it took 24 attempts to turn the vehicle off. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent. The vehicle was taken to bergstrom buick gmc of green bay 3330 located at 301 n taylor st #101, green bay, wi 54304, (800) 721-1840, to be diagnosed and repaired. The technician replaced the entire shifter assembly was replaced however; the failure recurred. A secondary repair was performed with the shifter assembly wiring harness being replaced. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 20,000. *dt
2017 gmc acadia displays "shift to park" when already in park and doesn't allow the vehicle to turn off the electronics. Problem was supposedly fixed under warranty when i took it in to the dealer in july of 2018. Now exactly 1 year later, now out of warranty, the "shift to park" message is happening again after the controller was replaced last year to fix the problem. Now that car is out of warranty, even though its such a common complaint now that gmc is aware of, the dealer is asking me to pay over $500 to fix it again. How do i know it will fix it this time? the last "fix" only lasted a year. Gmc needs to issue a recall and fix their manufacturing defect.
When my vehicle was in park & i was going to turn it off it gave me this message action to park when in park. This has happened several times. I have taken it to the dealership & nothing can be done.
My 2017 had a shift to park issue.when parked and the car is in "park" the car will say "shift to park"which causes you not to be able to lock the car, or to make sure the car will not roll away.took the car to the dealer and had all components replaced, however they information me that this will not fix the problem as the parts are made incorrectly, so unfortunately it will happen again at some point.my second issue with the acadia is when you are in cruse control, the car will automatically apply the breaks (abruptly and hard) for no reason. Gmc says that it could be when the sensors get dirty or overheat, however it makes you very uneasy knowing your breaks can mash on at anytime by themselves when you are using the cruise control system.
On 2017 acadia with it's 6txx transmission, the shifts from 2-3 feel weird (especially) when driving at slow speeds. You get a feeling as if tranny takes more than usual time to engage into 3rd gear, when already disengaged from 2nd gear. This is similar to what feeling one might get if you moved from 2nd - neutral - 3rd gear.i started experiencing this issue from approx. 5k miles.this would be risky when you are trying to merge into a yield or change lanes and this shift occurs, you momentarily feel loss of control.a quick google search on this issue and you will see folks already complaining about this on forums.
The contact owns a 2017 gmc acadia. The contact stated that while attempting to park the vehicle, the vehicle failed to shift into park. The contact mentioned that the vehicle was put into neutral and applied the parking brake to park the vehicle. In addition, the battery was drained due to placing the vehicle into neutral and applying the parking brake. The vehicle was taken to chevrolet buick gmc of murfreesboro (960 john r rice blvd, murfreesboro, tn 37129) where they informed the contact to continue to use the method until they were able to review the vehicle on the scheduled appointment date. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000.
Gear shift lever shift to park vehicle doesn't go into park and won't cut off and because of it has a tendency sometimes to roll back took to dealership and was explained to some type of harnessing problem with transmission vehicle was stationary.
Shift to park warning comes on 3 times in 5 days. Car won't turn on or off for short period.
This is the 2nd time, fixes in march 2019. Now having same problem. When i put the suv in park i get and error message 'shift to park'. According to gmc there is a technical service bulletin issued but no recall. Of course dealer will not cover cost since it was repaired over a year ago. Vehicle was out of warranty already so i already paid over $330 to have repaired once. Gmc will offer no help. Sometimes takes me as many as 10 times turning vehicle on and off before i can get the vehicle to clear the message.
Shift to parkwhen putting the car in park, it says shift to park and the vehicle continues to run and horn honks letting you know you are exiting the car with it running, after putting it in drive, neutral, etc and shifting it back to park, the message still displays.
I have a 2017 acadia. When the car is shifted into park, the dashboard shows a warning that the car is not in park! it says i can't turn off the car until the car is in park, even though it's in park. After speaking to the service department at my dealership, they informed me that this is a very common issue and they bought in extra parts to repair the cars that come in.this first happened 6 months ago but only occured one time, now it is consistant and i am only 700 miles out of warranty so i am stuck paying for it out of pocket.after much research, i have found this to be an extremely common problem.
Shift to park not engaging into park position,it was stationary
When put in park, i shut the car off and it says to put it in park. It's in park, and when i open the door, the horn sounds because it thinks it isn't in park, but why would it let me out of the car, and lock it if it wasn't in park?
The contact owns a 2017 gmc acadia. While the vehicle was engaged in park with the engine running, it inadvertently rolled away. As a result, the occupant was struck by the door and the vehicle ran over the occupant's foot. Medical attention was required. The vehicle continued to roll away and rear ended another vehicle. A police report was not filed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was awaiting diagnostic testing and repairs. The dealer was not contacted.the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 3,002. The vin was not available.
The vehicle does not recognize when it is in park. Sporadically vehicle will not go into park and thus can't leave vehicle. Safety concern! i understand this is a known issue.
My 2017 gmc acadia has a "shifter" problem. I put the car in park but i get an error message that states "shift to park" and the car doesn't completely turn off even though you turn the car off physically. Some electronics stay on like the radio and headlights. You cannot completely shut the car down - again - even when you physically turn the car off. The car is in park and stopped.
When car is placed in park, the dashboard display says that the car must be shifted to park, although it is has been put in park. The car must be restarted, and reshifted to park, multiple times. (as many as a dozen times.) when the error message appears the electrical components do not shut down. The car cannot be locked. Unsure whether car is/ is not actually in park, or whether there is a danger of car rolling away.
The contact owns a 2017 gmc acadia. The contact stated that the gear shifter would not remain in the park position and the vehicle would not power off. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to norman gale buick gmc (1247 nj-10, cedar knolls, nj 07927, (973) 975-4039) where it was diagnosed that the gear shifter needed to be replaced. The dealer stated that the part would not be available until september of 2019. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was approximately 26,000.
My 2017 gmc acadia with 40,000 miles on it has been saying 'shift to park' when i try to turn it off. The only way to get it to turn off and be safely in park is to continuously turn it back on shift to reverse or drive move the car a few feet and try again. It continues to take multiple times and the only thing to 'fix it' gmc claims is to replace a lever and that takes 5-6 hours at 135$ an hour and 2 150$ parts. It is not covered under warranty and is a huge safety issue as you either cannot get the vehicle into park and have it safely stuck or it will continue to stay on and possible roll away. There are hundreds of thousands of forums and posts about this issue and even the people who got it 'fixed' still have issues. It is a safety issue and gmc needs to figure out what is causing it how to fix it and do an emergency recall if they cannot figure it out then they need to fully recall the 17-18 acadias and provide replacement vehicles as this is a major safety risk. I cannot be stuck at a place during a global pandemic because my car is stuck due to an issue that gmc cannot fix.
Vehicle will not turn off. Instructed to shift to park but vehicle is in park.
The contact owns a 2017 gmc acadia. The contact stated while driving, the shift to park failed to move from auxiliary mode and drained the battery. Additionally, the vehicle moved. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken three times to garlyn shelton buick gmc (5625 s general bruce dr, temple, tx 76502, (254) 598-4128) and diagnosed that the shifter boot and shifter pin needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 30,000.
Shift to park message on the info panel and car did not go into park and began rolling away.had to turn car back on to shift into park.on occasion, it requires multiple start/stops.this is safety issue in that if you think you're in park the vehicle can roll and potentially hurt someone because it's not actually in park.the car was stationary when the problem occurred.
Car gives a "action required, shift to park" and does not turn off although you have put the car in park. You have to put the car into reverse or drive and move it back to park multiple times before it senses it is in park and before it will let you turn off the vehicle. The car was stationary every time this happened in a parking spot.
Second time into the dealership for the same thing in one year.the "shift to park" warning pops up after i stop and put the shifter into park.however, it does not recognize that fact.the vehicle thinks it is another gear.even after getting out, my radio stays on and and my horn honks as a warning. I tried to lock the door and it unlocks itself immediately.multiple starting and stopping only works on occasion. Two lost days to the repair shop.if i didn't have an extended warranty on this latest problem, this visit yesterday would have cost me over $500!i fear this will be a repeating issue .
A message shift to park kept appearing when the car was in park and shut off. Then i put the car in reverse and the entire care locked up.(a message from gmc -general motors llc (gm) is recalling certain 2018 chevrolet equinox and gmc terrain vehicles and 2017-2018 gmc acadia vehicles. The right front intermediate driveshaft may fracture and separate while driving.)
When parking the vehicle, after shifting to park, the dashboard displays a warning shift to park and will not allow the vehicle to be shut off. The vehicle was stationary on a city street, in our driveway, and also in a parking lot. This prevented me from exiting the vehicle for about 10 minutes each time, will i continued to restart the car, shift from park to another gear and then reshift into park.
Upon stopping vehicle and shifting in to park i get a 'shift to park' notification on the drivers' information screen although the vehicle is in park. Sometimes it takes several attempts of shifting from and back to park for the screen to clear.
A "shift to park" message shows up after i have already put my vehicle in park which does not allow me to turn my vehicle off completely. I have 53,500 miles on my acadia and had tohave a new battery put in last week. A gmc dealership states the part to fix the shift lever is on back order but that they have heard this is a common issue with the 2017 acadia. It is frustrating that gmc is aware there is an issue and that there has been a lawsuit filed regarding this however there has not been a recall issued.
My vehicle would not shut off after i put the vehicle in park. Kept getting messages that said "shift to park" when it was already in park.the dealer replaced the shift mechanism and the wiring harness at my expense.
Upon shifting the vehicle into park the onboard display will not show the vehicle in park.after reviewing multiple forums this is a common problem that could be a safety issue if the vehicle is not shifting into park
When vehicle is in park, car still reads shift to park. Car will beep even if you get out and even after shutting off vehicle and turning back on.
Vehicle has developed the shift to park issue that doesn't allow the suv to be turned off when actually in park. It's a safety issue.
When shutting vehicle off after placing in park the display panel shows a message telling driver to shift to park. The vehicle engine will shut off but the electrical system won't shut down until the battery protection timer shuts everything off. Doors don't want to lock but will eventually as well. This occurred previously when the vehicle was about 18 months old and the dealer made a repair consistent with the manufacturers tsb that was issued. The vehicle is now out of warranty and the dealer is trying to get gm to participate in the repair but it's been 3 weeks with no answers.
Vehicle will not shift properly to park when turning the vehicle off.this causes the problem of moving when attempting to turn off the vehicle.
Gear shift would go into park but would not turn off engine, lock doors, turn off lights. Warning light read to "place in park."
2017 gmc acadia would issue a warning saying vehicle failed to shift to park even though the vehicle was in park.this vehicle defect is known by gmc and their dealerships.a lawsuit is currently pending regarding this issue.gmc has failed to issue a recall and has failed to resolve the issue.we took our vehicle to the local gmc dealership august 2018 due to the issue.the issue started again in november 2019.when we called about it, they said the prior work wasn't covered and we would have to pay to have the "known defect" repaired again.
With vehicle stationary, i attempted to place the transmission in "park" and turn off the vehicle. The dashboard information screen displayed the message "shift to park" and would not allow the vehicle to fully shut down (headlights remained on) even though the shift knob was in "park" as well as "p" displayed on the dashboard screen. The electronic emergency brake was inoperable and the vehicle seemed to be at risk of rolling away. This left me stranded with the vehicle and unable to remove myself from it.
When i'm in park, the vehicle tells me i need to shift to park before i can turn it off.
Would not shift into park. Was able to shut off engine but electrical system would not shut off. The vehicle was stationary. Dealer had to replace floor shifter and electrical harness.
I have a 2017 gmc acadia sl-2 all terrain with 16,000 miles thatwas infor service a month ago for the'shift to park' problem for 2 weeks. Gm would not replace the shiftassembly instead a harness was installed. One week later it was back in for service and has been in there for last 10 days for the same problem.i do have a loaner which i appreciate but i want my car repaired. I am told the gm strike is affecting the delay in getting parts to the dealer. I have researched and ascertained that there are 2 different shift assembly replacements. The first fix for this problem was part no. 84159722. The second replacement number is 13528228 which replaces the 84159722. My car needs part no. 13528228 so we have no further issuewith the shift to park problem. (if in fact this is a 'fix.')
The car would be stationary. I would put it in park and then turn off the car. The dash display showed an error that the car was not in park, even though it was.the car would not completely turn off because of this. I turn the car on and off multiple times, shifting in and out of park. One time, the car had to be turned on and off 10 times before it finally registered that it was in park. The car is stationary the whole time during this process. Eventually, the car would register that it was indeed in park and completely turn off as desired. This would happen almost every time the car was driven and then parked. I called my local gmc dealership explaining this. The service supervisor said this has been a common issue with the shifter/transmission controller on acadias of my year model. My dealership did not have the required parts/harness in stock so we had to wait a week and a half for them to be delivered. The date listed is the day i called the dealership. The issue described had been going on for 3-4 days previous to calling. Attached is a portion of my receipt pertaining to this issue.
2017 acadia is displaying 'shift to park' message when the car is in park. I have to turn the car off and on and shift to other gears and back to park upwards of 5/10 times pretty much every time i try to turn the car off.
The vehicle, when placed in park.gives a message that you need to shift to park.you can't turn the vehicle off.nor is it always in park.the vehicle will roll. It takes several tries to get the vehicle to recognize it is in park.the problem is getting worse.the vehicle has 21000 miles.
Our acadia on a 50% basis is complaining to the driver to "shift to park".this is even though the vehicle has been shifted to park.took to the dealership today and they said they ordered the part but because this is a known issue there is none available right now and no idea when the part will be available.
When you put the car in park, the car acts as if it is not in park, and tells you to put the car in park.at this point, it will not shut off
When the vehicle is in park, the car displays a message 'shift to park' and will not let you turn the car off. This is causing me to have to turn car on and off and move it from drive to park until it registers.
Shift to park issue - when shifting into park and subsequently turning off the vehicle, the vehicle will show a notification on the dash saying 'shift into park' and will not allow the vehicle to shut off.the vehicle does not recognize the shifter ind the park position, will not turn off and will allow the vehicle to roll freely.this is a safety issue for multiple reasons.first, the vehicle while in the park position can roll freely.second, the vehicle will not turn off and engine will continue to run, thereby rendering the vehicle unable to shut down.
Shift to park message appears when vehicle has been shifted into park. Car doesn't turn off. Takes multiple attempts trying to jiggle shift lever, shift from drive to park, or click shift lever button before message disappears. Dealer replaced wiring harness feb 2020, message started appearing again within the last week (july 5 2020)
Harmonic vibration at around 1500 rpm while holding speed any gear or mph
Vehicle warning light says "shift to park" when car is stopped and shifter is put into park. Vehicle will not shut down properly.
When i shift to park and turn off the vehicle it tells me that is isn't in park.so i have to restart the vehicle and take it out ofpark and put it back in.
Whenever i shift the vehicle to park and turn off the engine, a message is displayed that says 'action required shift to park.'it does not recognize that the vehicle is in park and therefore will not let me leave the vehicle. Sometimes i have to turn the vehicle on and off several times and shift back-and-forth from dr. To park several times before i can get out of the car. I have taken it to the dealer twice now. The first time the fix didn't work and the second time was just yesterday so time will tell.
Shift to park issue.when you put the vehicle in park, the vehicle does not recognize that it is in park and displays on the information screen to shift to park.the vehicle will not allow you to turn it off because it thinks the car is not in park when it actually is. This was fixed under warranty for me in 2018 with 14k miles (replaced shifter assembly) and now i have having the same issue at 39k miles.gm needs to recall these vehicles and have the old shift assembly (p/n 84159722) replaced with the new shift assembly it created in october of 2018 (p/n 13528228)when my vehicle was serviced at 14k miles, it was replaced with the old part number 84159722 which is defective as i am having the same problem again at 39k miles. Now my vehicle is out of warranty and i am going to be expected to pay $700 to have the new shift assembly replaced.this should be a recall because it is a safety issue because it will not allow people to turn off their vehicles all of the way, which quickly drains battery and strands them.
Shift to park warning light turns on when car is in park. Headlights stay on.
When the car is shifted from a driving gear or neutral into park, sometimes the car will not register that it has actually shifted into park. A warning shows up on the dash that says "action required, shift to park" even though it is in park. The car will not turn off during this warning, so you have to shift it back and forth from drive to park until it finally registers park. Sometimes it happens the next try, sometimes it will take 50. There have been two occasions when attempting to park on a slope that the car started to roll, only a foot or two, but then the emergency brake automatically turned on the bring the car to a stop. The car has been in for service multiple times and they have been unable to find a fix at this time.
Placed vehicle into park dash displays shift tp part and will not let suv to shut off an causes it to roll
When car is parked. A message pops up to put the car in park, even though it is in park. This prevents me from locking my doors! it dings, honks, etc because message when out in park message is on!
Shift to park warning turns on when gear shifter is in park and while attempting to turn off the vehicle
When the placed in park, the vehicle does not recognize and will not shut off as there is a message that the car in not in park, when it is. This happens frequently. I am unsure if, although i've placed in park, the car itself recognizes that. There are times where for several minutes i cannot turn my car off even after shifting in and out of park.
Vehicle is unable to shift into park.i keep getting an error message to "shift to park" even though i am in park, and it will not allow me to turn the vehicle off.i will have to shift the car into drive and park about 25 times before it will recognize that is actually in park so i can turn off the vehicle.this only happens whn the vehicle is stopped and i am trying to turn it off.
When i put my car into park to turn off my car, it would not turn off andsaid to put car in park.i have towiggle the shifter, sometimes several times.it happened right before when my car was in around 35,000 miles.they didn't have any appointments that week.i had to go to california the next week.i went in yesterday, since it was over 36,000 miles.they said it was not under warranty anymore. I told them the situation. Said l had to pay $488.
Vehicle will not shift into park, even though the car is not moving.cannot turn vehicle off while this message is being displayed. Cannot lock/secure vehicle while this message is displayed.
I will shift my car to park and then i go to shut off the car and i get a message that pops up saying "shift to park" i can not lock my car and wont shut off filly until i can get it to shift into park fully . Vehicle was stationary when i shifted to park it had happened about 10 to 25 times in the last month
The "shift to park" message comes on after i park the car. I have to wiggle the gear shift back and forth to get it to go off or the car stays on electronically. The door locks go on/off (and up and down) while driving (purportedly due to the car going in and out of park while driving) which is a major safety concern. Because it's out of warranty (47,000 miles) my dealership said it would be $700-$800 to fix the problem although gmc has put out a bulletin to tell the dealerships how to fix it. This should be a recall due to safety concerns.if the car isn't reading it's in park, it could roll and cause injury and damage. This has happened pretty regularly for 2 weeks going on 3 weeks.
When the vehicle is in park and you try to turn it off with the start/stop button an on dash error code of "shift to park" appears even though the vehicle is clearly in park.you are not able to turn the vehicle off.i took the vehicle in for service on 6/4/18 and was told that gm is aware of the issue however their engineers have not found a solution.this currently is forcing me restart the engine, put my car in reverse, shift back in drive, try re parking and turning off again repeating the process until it eventually turns off.i do not know if my car is truly in gear or not.i'm afraid that it might cause a dangerous situation.
Shift to park message comes up randomly, when parking vehicle. Had electrical harness replaced in 2019 for this problem, then hardly drove in 2020. Now the dealership said i need to replace the shift control assembly at a cost between $300-$400. They indicated the bumper to bumper warranty is expired, and i would have to pay.
I reported a problem over a year ago, and despite several trips to the dealer, the problem has gotten worse. The vehicle seems to shift to neutral while shifting from 2nd to 3rd gears. This results in a very harsh shift. The main safety issue is that while you are trying to accelerate, your vehicle goes into neutral and you nearly stop. Not only have i been slammed into my seat when it finally catches in the next gear, but i've almost been rear ended multiple times. It is very dangerous. The dealer claims it's "doing what its suppose to".
Placed the vehicle in park, it was stationaryand it rolled forward. Message in the info center said "shift to park".i was parking in a mall parking lot.this has occurred 5 times. I can push the gearshift back and forth and then it can be turned off and the message will disappear. I took it to the dealership and was told they are waiting on gm to see what can be done. It makes a sound when inmotion at slow speeds on a city street like the back needs shocks. It seems to bounce more than it should.
When going to turn the car off after it's shifted into park the dashboard display displays a warning that says "shift into park". When this happens the car fails to turn completely off and you have to restart the car and shift it back into park until this no longer displays. The car will also roll backwards a bit when you let off the break.
Shift to park not recognized when vehicle stationary in park. Vehicle will not turn off or lock during this time.
When vehicle is shifted into park information center says vehicle is not in park and vehicle will not shut off. I have taking the vehicle into gmc service and they said it was okay to drive it and take it home. Since then we have had to get the vehicle towed back to the service dealership that said it was okay to drive because the vehicle died several times and would not start. There is a nation wide problem with this model ant the shifting not staying in park.
When the vehicle is shifted into park to turn off the engine the sensor shows it is not in park and will not let you turn the engine off.
"shift to park" error when car is already in park.issue started about 2 months ago; however, it is becoming worse and more frequent.most of the time, pressing the shifter button in/out will turn the car off but not it can take up to 5 minutes of turning the car on/off and shifting gears to get the car to recognize that it is in park.(the dashboard does recognize that it is in park with the "p" beside the mileage but the sensor does not.)it is a safety concern because the car can not be turned off and locked.despite only having the car for a little over 2 years, the dealership says the costs needs to be covered out of pocket since it was a loaner.
The shift to park message was displayed on the instrument panel. The failure recurred several times. The vehicle was taken to riverhead buick gmc dealer located at 1423 old country rd, riverhead, ny 11901, where the technician replaced the wiring harness however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the same dealer who replaced an unknown part in the gear shifter. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and provided a case number. Vehicle gives a shift to park warning even though the vehicle is in park. Vehicle cannot be shut off and requires multiple restarts and shut offs and moving of vehicle to get vehicle to recognize it is in park and to shut off.
The contact owns a 2017 gmc acadia. The contact stated that upon pulling into his driveway at 10 mph, the cvc axle detached from the vehicle. The contact researched and discovered nhtsa campaign number: 17v516000 (power train) which he linked to the failure. The contact called jones motor company (545 florence rd, savannah, tn 38372) and had the vehicle towed to that dealer. The contact was informed that he had to pay a diagnostic fee to determine the failure. The contact declined the diagnostic fee and the vehicle remained in the possession of the dealer. The vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 17v516000 (power train). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 75,680. Just recently my vehicle is displaying to shift car to park when already in park. When this message appears car will not turn off. I have tried many things from going in reverse or drive again and shift into par and nothing. Takes a while !! feel like this isn't safe
After parking the vehicle, shifting into park and turning off the engine, a warning message appears stating to shift the car into park. The car is in park, but there must be some type of sensor failure.i am prohibited from completing shut down of the vehicle until i clear the warning message.when this issue first arose, i could "jiggle" the shifter a bit, and the message would clear.now, about two weeks later, i need to start the car, move the shifter between gears, and then back into park.after 2 - 3 times repeating the procedure, the warning message usually clears.the vehicle has been taken in for service.a new shifter has been ordered. The part is on backorder.
At 95,800 miles the automatic transmission failed catastrophically.there was no warning of the failure. After stopping for a brief time on an interstate highway, upon resuming the trip the vehicle stared over-revving and searching for shifts. When a shift point was found there was a loud banging noise when the gear engaged. The vehicle remained driveable to deliver to a repair facility where it was diagnosed as a complete transmission failure. The vehicle has been maintained meticulously and all routine service was performed by authorized gm dealerships.
The contact owns a 2017 gmc acadia. While driving various speeds, the transmission hesitated to shift gears and the vehicle began to vibrate excessively. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The contact referenced gmc recall number 17109 (rear differential clutch control module). The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the struts and the motor mount needed to be replaced. Additionally, field testers determined that the vehicle was operating normally. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but did not assist. The manufacturer stated that the vehicle was operable. The approximate failure mileage was 209,000.
My 2017 keeps having transmission issues. At the dealership the transmission fluid is burnt. The 2017 gmc acadia limited has the same issues with the engine as the standard 2017 gmc acadia
Every time i park my vehicle. It is in park but a message displays telling me to put the vehicle in park and it will not shut off.
When the vehicle automatically goes into v4 mode there is a vibration inside the cabin.the vibration also sounds like a boom noise inside the cabin and the vehicle shakes while driving.the problem seems to occur at 1500-1700 rpms and will continue until you accelerate and make the vehicle go back into v6 mode.dealer attempted to fix the problem on 2 occasions but was unable to.dealer acknowledged the problem and categorized it as a vibration, drone, flutter or boom noise inside the cabin while vehicle is in afm v4 mode.problem has not been fixed.
The contact owns a 2017 gmc acadia. While driving the vehicle, the wheels locked up in 4wd mode. The dealer diagnosed that the wheel differential needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 2,500.
The contact's father owns a 2017 gmc acadia. While the contact's father was making a right turn, the front passenger side tire bent inwardly into the wheel well. As a result, the vehicle crashed into a curb. The vehicle received body damage. The air bags did not deploy. There were no injuries and a police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a certified mechanic who diagnosed that the driveshaft fractured and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. Summit chevrolet buick gmc (located at 318 grant ave, auburn, ny 13021, 315-258-2000) was contacted and informed the contact of nhtsa campaign number: 17v516000 (power train), but the vin was not included. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 17,000.
I had a driver seatbelt malfunction right after i purchased the vehicle.i now have a second row, drivers side seat belt malfunction.they have not been able to repair or replace the seatbelt for over a year.i was told at the dealership that they were redesigning the seat belt.they would call me when it was avail, and also that it is not under warranty.still no seatbelt.
The contact owns a 2017 gmc acadia. The contact stated that the front driver side seat belt and the second row middle seat belts both failed to retract. The contact took the vehicle to autonation buick gmc west sahara (6400 w sahara ave, las vegas, nv 89146; 702-605-5808) where it was diagnosed that the seat belts failed and the seat belt system needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and opened a case. The manufacturer was unable to confirm if and when the part for the repair would be available. The approximate failure mileage was 1,400.
Stationary, new vehicle possibly inappropriately equipped.a vehicle with a 2nd row bench seat providing seating for 3 with a center occupant seat belt but without head restraint (and no provision for head restraint).i cannot seem to determine if such a configuration does or does not comply with federal regulations.i cannot determine, therefore, whether i am or am not legally allowed to carry a passenger in the middle(inboard) seat.
I have several things that has went wrong with my vehicle since i had bought it two months after i got it it was in the shop sometimes whenever i parked it would not restart brake lights will stay on i've had my check engine light come service brake light has came on i've had the middle seat belt replaced twice nothing stuck in it it just will not latch it is back in the shop now whenever i put it in park it is telling me to shiftit into park i had my car for two years and with in the two years it has been in the shop 15 times so much for having a new car and in joying it
The drivers side front seat has something loose under the leather.there is something that moves when you go around turns or stops. It also makes noises and pops.
Hearing rattle sound from 2nd and 3rd row from day1 for 2017 gmc acadia denali. Primary source seems(something inside) seats in 2nd row and may be 3rd row. Rattle can be heard when going over bumps or bad road patches on usual city roads. Seems whenever vehicle goes over a bad road patch, 2nd/3rd row seats vibrate a lot and rattle sound can be heard. Sometimes i can hear slight rattle from around passenger side 1st row door as well.

Manual drivers seat will not stay up.i set the seat high so i can see.going down the road hitting normal bumps ,the seat slowly sinks all the way down.dealership tried fixing but it did not work.have record of repairs just in case this causes me to have a accident
I have several things that has went wrong with my vehicle since i had bought it two months after i got it it was in the shop sometimes whenever i parked it would not restart brake lights will stay on i've had my check engine light come service brake light has came on i've had the middle seat belt replaced twice nothing stuck in it it just will not latch it is back in the shop now whenever i put it in park it is telling me to shiftit into park i had my car for two years and with in the two years it has been in the shop 15 times so much for having a new car and in joying it
I was driving my 2017 gmc acadia on the highway with my son in the vehicle when it slammed on the brakes for no reason. When i first took it to the dealership they did not believe me. They researched the issue then informed me that gm was aware of the "phantom braking" problem and issued a bulletin to the dealers. They said the way to fix it was to reboot the computer. They would not give me a copy of the bulletin that showed the issue or the fix. Gm knew this was happening in their vehicles and they did not tell the car owners. It is a miracle that it did not cause and accident and that no one was hurt or killed. I do not feel safe driving this car but they will not let me out of my lease early.
The break lights would stay on after parking the car resulting in a dead battery in one occasion.the dealer has replaced break parts two times and even kept the car for one week for safety reasons.the problem is back and scheduled for service on 10/14/19.
Low brake fluid light comes on and brake fluid was actually low with no signs of leaks. Filled brake fluid and 3 days later is was low again and still no signs of a leak.
Parking brake failed to engage--was told by dealer the modular for the parking brake system failed.vehicle was stationary at the time
The contact owns a 2017 gmc acadia. While driving approximately 25 mph, the brake fluid low and brake indicators illuminated. In addition, the brake pedal traveled to the floorboard and did not stop the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to suburban cadillac of troy (248-643-0070, located at 1810 maplelawn dr, troy, mi 48084) where it was diagnosed that the master cylinder failed and caused brake fluid to leak into the booster pump. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and the contact was not called back. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 37,500. *ln
Engine feels like its going to stall when stopped at stop signs or red lights.the car lunges forward when in park on an incline.
2017 was in garage for 1 week.when tried to start vehicle low brake fluid lightcame on.checked brake fluid level was below normal level. Checked undervehicle and all brakes, no sign of any leaks .
When depressing the brake pedal a squishing noise was heard. The sound was present while moving and while stopped. Master cylinder was leaking brake fluid into brake power booster
The vehicles brakes became defective and stopped working which caused an accident.
This issue has happened 3 times now and is becoming a safety concern for my family and i and for others on the road. I purchased the car brand new in may 2017 and the issue occured for the first time on october 02, 2017. Second time was february 15, 2018 and the third time happened around early april 2018. While driving at a slow speed (entering a parking lot, in the middle of an intersection when i was about to make a left turn on a green light, and while driving in a parking lot after getting gas) the car made a grinding/clunking sound and was brought to a very abrupt stop. I tried to press the gas but the car would not move. I changed the gear from drive to park and then drive again and would still not move. I turned the car off and then back on and still nothing. I ended up figuring it out by pressing the parking break button 1-2 times and was then able to proceed to drive. It seems as though something may have triggered the parking brake but while i was in drive and while the vehicle was moving. I was almost rear ended when this happened in the intersection and also during the time i was unable to move in the intersection, my light had changed to yellow and then red and oncoming traffic was honking because they could not go on their green light due to me being stopped in the intersection. It was very scary and dangerous as it almost caused an accident 2 out of the 3 times it has happened. I told service dept at the dealership about it twice. They have "looked into it" one time but since they were not able to replicate the issue (obviously), there is nothing they can do. I am concerned about my families safety if this continues to happen.
When i pull in somewhere and shift my car into park and then go to press the button to turn it off i get an ' action required message' on the cluster to shift to park even though it is in park already and it shows on the cluster that it is in park. I took the car into the dealership to repair the recall and have it serviced while it was there and informed them of the issue and to get them to check it out. They said they were not sure what it was but it kept throwing a low voltage code. But when the battery was checked it was fine. They found a bolt loose or missing on a battery cable at the junction box and replaced it and said that they thought that was the problem. But the problem returned a day later when i was on a trip to nashville. While in nashville i again went to the auto parts store for my daughter and pulled into park and got the same ' shift to park message when i was already in park. The cluster on the dash showed that i was in park. I got out to go ahead and run into the store and when i came out my car had rolled backwards across the parking lot to the curb. Luckily it did not hit anything but the curb and stopped. This problem is so dangerous and concerning to me. It is going back into the dealership to get checked again . I did find a youtube video explaining what the problem was in the shifter and why it was not recognizing that the car was in park. Look in the search bar for gmc acadia shift to park problems. I feel this needs to be a recall so no one else s car ends up hurting someone. I have no video of this happening because the cameras at the auto parts store were not operational and no one was around when it happened to see it but me.
On saturday, april 11, 2020 the ebcm, electronic brake control module, set off a parking brake dashboard light caution. The parking brakes no longer engaged.believing it was a certified warranty issue, i had it repaired, april14, 2020, at burdick chevy gmc buick.turns out it is considered a 'wearable part' and not covered. Two days later, april 16, 2020, i discovered the ebcm module recall on similar vehicles, attached ap article.since april 16 until april 23, i attempted working with gmc, and the dealer, obtaining reimbursement to no avail.therefore after reading the the article, the dealership, and four different gmc representatives, i request an investigation whether this ebcm module issue is the same as the article.thank you.
Was foundbrake fluid in the brake booster vacuum hoseand brake booster is leaking from master cylinder and being drawn into the brake booster .
This occurred while pulling into a parking space in the afternoon on march 12, 2021 at approximately 2:30pm.... Upon depressing the brake pedal the pedal went all the way down and the car lurched crashing into a light pole. Fortunately the light pole prevented me from hitting another car in the parking lot. My airbag deployed slamming into my chest and i managed to put the vehicle in park.there was extensive damage to my gmc acadia and aaa and my insurance were called and the car was towed to a collision shop as instructed by my insurance.i am presently awaiting calls from my insurance and the adjuster. This is saturday and nothing has happened yet. I'm very disappointed in the manner that the vehicle performed and i'm still having chest pains where the airbag hit me.
*dt
With vehicle parked i get a message of shift in park and vehicle doesn't fully turn off. It is known as an issue for gm vehicles - bulletin issued.

On three separate occasions this vehicle has, with no warning, experienced a sudden loss of power steering for 2-10 seconds per event.#1 june - 2018 (aprox mileage 30k+): while exiting the freeway offramp and slowing below 40mph, my wife experienced a loss of power steering for 1-2 seconds before regaining power steering. Went to a local mechanic and he said everything looked to be ok, cnd (could not duplicate).#2 11-18-2018 (mileage 46171): while slowing and turning left into our drive way the car experienced a sudden loss of power steering for 5-10 seconds. I was able to bring the car to a stop and snap a picture of the following error msg: action required, steering assist is reduced drive with care. This time we went to the dealership where we purchased the vehicle with pictures and again cnd.#3 6-9-2019 (mileage 64916): while coming out of a left hand turn, at aprox 5mph and slowing, i began to navigate a right turn into a parking lot when i experienced a sudden loss and return of power steering. The incident lasted apron 2-3 seconds, enough time to her my passenger take a picture of the following error msg: action required, steering assist is reduced drive with care. I am taking this vehicle back to the dealership with pictures of the warning and mileage for a second time.i have notice that gm had recalled numerous vehicles with this problem from 2017 till now. Nhtsa campaign number: 18v586. Gm's own number for this recall is 18289.do these vehicles need to be added to initiate a fix?
Front right driveshaft separated while driving causing a pull to the right.
Less than 30 days of taking possession of the vehicle brand new, we noted a whine when you turned the steering wheel.we brought the veh in to dealershp and it was reported the airbag coil was wrapped around steering column causing the noise.the coil was replaced and veh returned to me.within 24 hours the noise returned.this time they determined it was the front left strut and replaced.a brand new vehicle should not need a new strut.dealership said they had another acadia in for same problem
Power steering failed/ lose of power steering on 5 times ranging from 2 second to at least 6 second/steering lost at low speed going into driveway of garage/steering lost while car at red light in traffic waiting for green light to go
The steering has locked briefly 3 times while driving on the freeway within the last few weeks. The first time i was changing lanes on i-8 going about 45 mph. The next time i was taking a freeway exit ramp from i-805 to the i-8 decelerating and had no control as i turned the wheel to maneuver through the curve. This past saturday, 4/8, i was exiting i-805 at sorrento valley road and the steering locked for over 2 seconds.i originally thought this was a suspension issue. However, i finally received service records from hoehn gmc in carlsbad on 4/7 that stated there was an issue with the vehicle before i took delivery. The service record states '40 dtc p16e5 sensor comm circuit 3 hign voltage' and a part was replaced. However, i picked up the vehicle on 3/2 and the service invoice has a date of 3/22. I have not been back to the dealer since 3/2.i had to leave the vehicle at the dealer on 2/28 when i signed the lease agreement because the dealership told me the transmission was still locked. When i picked up my vehicle on 3/2, i noticed the vehicle had 34 additional miles since my initial inspection on 2/28. After several unanswered emails and phone calls to jerry brummet over the last month, he finally sent me the service records to show the reason for the additional mileage. This surprised me because i was never notified of an issue when i picked up the vehicle, nor did i receive any service records.i do not feel safe driving this vehicle and would have taken it in for service sooner had the dealership notified and provided the service records indicating there were factory defects prior to my receiving it. I plan to take the vehicle to another dealership for service in the meantime. Ultimately, i am concerned this is a repeat safety problem that may lead to an accident or other bodily injury.
Lost the power steering ...44050
The contact owns a 2017 gmc acadia. The contact stated that it took a tremendous amount of force to engage the horn. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the design of the horn was normal, and no failure or repair was needed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 700.
Was foundbrake fluid in the brake booster vacuum hoseand brake booster is leaking from master cylinder and being drawn into the brake booster .

Since i purchased this vehicle i've had the stabilitrak, parking brake, steering assist warnings pop up along with lights flashing and the car reduces power when this happens. If you reset the codes, itt stops. I've taken it back to the dealer to get it fixed and they don't know what's wrong with it. I've had this vehicle 3 years and it's been nothing but trouble.
My car will give me an alert when i put it in park that say's " shift to park" even though i have put it in park. Then the car will not shut off. I will try shifting it over and over to try to get it to engage so i can shut it off.
I'm having issues of getting an error message on my dashboard of 'shift to park' when the suv is already in park. I've had this randomly over the past few weeks, but figured i'd just mention it to the dealer at the next appt. Generally, i restart it, move the gear shifter, and then it goes into park.saturday, the gear shifter showed i was in park, the error message came on, and i started rolling backwards! i was thankful no one got hurt, but i'm concerned that one of my kids could have been behind me and this happen. I put on the break, had to turn off the car, and then restart it, move the shifter before it would recognize being in park.
The 'shift to park' light comes on even though my car is already in park. I have to sit there and rock my shift back and forth until the warning lamp goes off. Otherwise i can't turn my car off.
When being placed in park to turn off vehicle, message states "shift to park". When this happens i am unable to lock doors, parking lights stay on as well as radio. It takes several attempts to get it to not read " shift to park". This happens very often.
When i turn my car off, i am getting a 'shift to park' error code even though the car is in park. If you ignore it, the car acts as if it is still on, lights and radio won't turn off. When i got my son out of his car seat the car started moving a little even though it was off and in park. You have to turn the car on and off multiple times and shift the car around to different settings until it just decides it's finally in park. This is dangerous and what happens if one day it just decides it won't go into park no matter how many times you try and apparently through research this is a known and common issue yet a recall has not been issued.
My vehicle is starting to not recognize the shifter being in park, therefore will not shut down.the shifter is moved to park but the car does not recognize it and will not shut off.is happening more and more often now.i have to wiggle it around several times, and sometimes take it back out for another short drive before it finally recognizes that the car is in park when i want to get out.
Shift to park error message while depressing brake and shifting vehicle to park position not moving in stationary position and turning off vehicle error message occurs will not allow vehicle to turn off fully nor recognize vehicle is in park .
When my vehicle was in park & i was going to turn it off it gave me this message action to park when in park. This has happened several times. I have taken it to the dealership & nothing can be done.
Shift to park error when car is correctly in park.this does not allow you to shut off your engine.i have had the shifter replace twice already at the dealership.i know it will happen again.
When i park my car, and the gear is in park, when i try to turn the car off, i receive continuance notifications stating "shift to park" and can not fully turn the vehicle off. The issue has been continuous and at times can take up to five minutes before i can fully shut the vehicle off. The most recent event was 9/17/2020. I have several videos of the issue occurring. This is a known issue with the dealership but they will not fix it on this vehicle since there is no recall and is out of bumper-to-bumper warranty.
When in park, a 'shift to park' message appeared and i could not turn off the vehicle. Had to put vehicle in gear and try putting in park again. Did this several times and the error message went away.
Car will not recognize that the car is in park and will not shut off.
After putting the car in park and turning it off a 'shift into park' message displays on screen leaving the car still on. Very dangerous when i always have my 3 kids with me at all times. We have to keep messing with it until it goes away before we can safely get out and feel confident its ok to leave the car.
At times when shifting car from drive to park the car will not seat into park and provides a message shift to park. Car is in a stationary position but at times will not allow me to turn off power to car because of the shift to park issue.
When you put the car into park the computer does not recognize that it is in park, you may have to restart and re-put the car back into park several times, also the light will not go off, the doors will not lock, the battery will run down and the car will roll. The vehicle was in a fullparking lot.
When i'm in park, the vehicle tells me i need to shift to park before i can turn it off.
Shift to park message appears.. It was fixed by gmc warranty repair over a year ago and now same problem is happening again... We have to wiggle the shiftetsnd push with force to put shifter in park position..
When car is put into park a 'action required' comes up saying 'shift into gesr' which the vehicle is already in park. Therefore, will not shut off causing the battery to drain and die.
Car gives "shift to park" notification when car is shut off even though it clearly shows it is in park. Car will not fully shut off. Have to turn car back on and wiggle shifter or put it in reverse/drive and then back in to park for the car to fully turn off.
Horn is extremely difficult to sound. It takes strong pressure on only one area of the surface to sound. My wife has never been able to do it. Would be almost impossible to sound in an emergency.there are many instances of this issue on line.attatched is the dealers statement.both the dealer and gmc rep say it is working as designed.it has been like this since new. (nov. 2017)
Vehicle says shift to park and won't turn off, even though it is already in park.
Began in sept 2019 - when i park the cari would get a message saying "action required shift to park" even though it's shifted in park. I have had to shut the car on and off a few times before it goes away.
We bought this vehicle in late january 2018.the car was a new 2017 gmc acadia.we had the car a few days when my wife said that she could not get the horn to work.she said she looked at the manual and found where to push but nothing.i tried and could not get the horn to work eitheri called to and made an appointment for the dealer service to look at the car.they informed me that it needed a new contact.told me they would call when the part comes in.i still haven't head from them and called a couple of time and was told again, we'll call as soon as the part comes in.i believe this is a big safety problem as several time we need the horn and could not get it to work.
2017 acadia 'denali' trim is missing afm information from its dic display.afm information shows when the engine is using 6 v/s 4 cylinders.other trims seem to show afm information when equipped with v6 engine.afm is an important feature and denali being the highest level trim should definitely have this information available. Gm should provide upgraded display to 2017 denali customers.
Was foundbrake fluid in the brake booster vacuum hoseand brake booster is leaking from master cylinder and being drawn into the brake booster .
When parking vehicle after placing vehicle in park and pushing ignition off dash warns shift to park and vehicle will not turn off completely. Must restart vehicle shift to a different gear then shift back to park and turn vehicle off again.
I cannot always shut off the motorit tells me i do not have it in park car was stationary
Shift to park not engaging into park position,it was stationary
2017 gmc acadia would issue a warning saying vehicle failed to shift to park even though the vehicle was in park.this vehicle defect is known by gmc and their dealerships.a lawsuit is currently pending regarding this issue.gmc has failed to issue a recall and has failed to resolve the issue.we took our vehicle to the local gmc dealership august 2018 due to the issue.the issue started again in november 2019.when we called about it, they said the prior work wasn't covered and we would have to pay to have the "known defect" repaired again.
Horn is extremely difficult to depress.so difficult in fact, that most of the time it is inoperable in needed situations.we have reached out to the dealership who informed us to contact gmc who then directed us back to the dealership who sent us back to gmc.after 6 months of no response we were finally told by gmc that the understand it is hard to press but there is nothing they are planning on doing about it at this time.i explained that this is a serious safety issue and we are uncomfortable driving the vehicle.
Park to shift issue where car will not go into park and you cannot turn off engine to leave vehicle without leaving car on or unlocked.this happens randomly when trying to park and secure vehicle.has happened in garage where it has taken over 20 attempts to turn on and off car over and over filling garage with fumes trying to get car turned off in shift and then able to turn off car and lock.
Very hard pressure needed to activate horn ,no matter which point is pressed youd need extreme pressure to activate .very unsafe unable to blow horn in a emergency
Vehicle displays "action required - shift to park" in the dashboard information center when the gear shift is put into park and the ignition push button is pushed to turn the vehicle off.the alarm sounds repeatedly and the auxiliary power stays on.if the vehicle is exited alarms sound as if the key fob were left in the vehicle.inaddition, the auxiliary power stays on (including the headlights if in auto mode) indefinitely.my dealership is unable to fix this problem for nearly two months and has other customers with the same problem.gmc customer assistance has provided no help.
Power liftgate malfunction- liftgate was operated from the rear switch. Upon activation it rose almost fully and then slammed down on a person while they were accessing the rear cargo area, injuring their nose and face. Liftgate failed to stop at obstruction. From that point on liftgate failed to open or close without manual intervention. Vehicle was stationary, engine running and mostly level street. Weather had been rainy but was not raining at the time, 63 degree temp. Not sure if it was in park or drive, but brakes were applied and other passengers were entering the vehicle.the next morning the power liftgate has operated normally.
When i put the vehicle in park and turn off the engine, i get an alert "action required shift to park" and the vehicle is already in park.this started when i had approximately 35,900 miles on the vehicle but by the time i got an appointment with the dealer, i was over 36,000 miles so they say it's not covered under bumper to bumper warranty anymore.i googled the problem and there are numerous complaints about the same thing, but gmc still hasn't initiated any kind of recall when there is a problem that i'm sure they know about.
Vehicle displays shift to park message when the car is in park.it does not allow you to turn the car off.
When the vehicle is put into park(stopped) and turned off the car does not recognize that it is in park. So now it says "action required shift to park" (the gear shift is in park). The engine will be off but the lights, radio anything tied to the battery will not turn off. This runs down the battery if you cant get the card to park. Dealer ship will not fix
On december 29, 2020, i was going to visit a friend about 5:30pm. They have a driveway that is a downward slope. I put my car (2017 gmc acadia denali) in park and turned it off. I stepped out and locked the doors. I was talking to my friend's husband for a couple minutes, asking if she was home and if my car was okay where it was parked. I wanted to make sure he was not leaving and was blocked in. I then started walking to the house. I was going to walk in the grass and just go to the front door, but since it started to snow, i walked down the driveway. My vehicle then started rolling down the driveway and knocked me over. It proceeded to drive over me. I know i fell on my stomach, as my hands and knees are pretty bruised and scraped up. As the vehicle proceeded to keep going, i was pushed on my back with the tire resting on my right hip. The gentleman ran up and tried to push the vehicle off of me, but could not push it up hill. Luckily the keys and my phone fell out of my pocket and he was able to start the vehicle and drive it off of me. I know at some point i did hit my head, because the back is really tender today.i did go to urgent care to get x-rays because i do not want to go to the hospital with all the covid cases here in st joseph county. They did scrub all the rocks and dirt out of my back and hip and cleaned up my knees. My ex rays came back with no broken bones and i did not have blood in my urine, but they still recommended that i go to the emergency room. I am not able to walk very well and my hip is very swollen. I contacted the dealership because my car was just in the shop because the shift to park light kept coming on in october and i have my repair order that says the problem was fixed on october 22, 2020, which obviously it was not.
High horn effort - horn does not activate when pressed on.driver has been unable to notify other cars coming into their lane.concerned that they will be unable to avoid an accident.took delivery of vehicle on 01sep2017 with this as a known issue.have not had any resolution until vehicle went into service around 09jan18.bulletin issued to replace wire harness.this new wire harness did not improve the condition at all - may even be worse than before.this is a safety issue - gm needs to address this immediately.this is either due to the driver airbag cushion pack height or wire harness limiting horn travel.
On a recent trip. Going 70 mph on the highway, 28 degrees outside. We constantly had to keep turning down the inside temp. Started at 72 degrees inside and finally got to a comfortable inside temp at 66 or 67 degrees. Anything above that was way to hot. When you stopped or slowed way down, the temp had to be turned up. This is while the system was set to auto. This could cause the driver to take there eyes off of the road to mess with the climate control.
The horn is extremely hard to push.most people have to use the palms of both hands and arch their back against the seat.i took the vehicle in for service to a gmc dealer and they were also shocked at how difficult it was to push the horn.after further investigation, gmc said the horn "works as currently designed".they also indicated they tried 3 other 2017 acadia's in inventory and they were all very hard to push.to me, the phrase "works as currently designed" is indicative of a problem.i am unable to warn pedestrians or motorists of an impending danger.i have to work too hard and long to push the horn. A horn should be able to be pushed very quickly in order to warn or alert of a danger.
Attempted to use the horn for the first time and discovered it didnt work. When i returned home, i tried again and noticed i had to use and excessive amount of force to.get it to work. Took the vehicle to the dealer to have them look at other issues and they said the horn worked, just like similar vehicles on the lot. I expressed the safety concerns i had, especially if my wife would have needed to use the horn in an emergency, buth they said there was nothing they could do. Vehicle's manufacture warrant is set to expire in less then 4000 miles.
'shift into park' message in information center when vehicle is shifted in to park from drive. The vehicle can not be turned off.
Our car, a 2017 acadia, will not auto start, alarms go off randomly, theft warning comes on and hood open warning comes on every time car is started.. Our determination is the hood latch from other forums which is what the garage also determined.we were told only trucks were being replaced not the cars.we don't feel that this is something we should be paying for since it is out there that many have the problem.the latch causes the theft problem which eventually causes the car not to advance in speed (connecting to theft) and could cause death on a major highway when all cars are going 60 plus and your car won't move.some people were unable to start their cars. This is major and should be corrected with a recall.this might not seem major but it can be.we became leery in driving the vehicle.i have a teen driver and the hood open warning comes on many times throughout a drive.you can clear it and it reappears whether moving or not.this has been going on with us for a good month.again, this happens while stationary and moving.it can come on at any speed which is the scary part.we have limited our drive and drive at a controllable speed but that doesn't make it safer.once we were stationary when the alarms went off and could not clear.all the warnings came on.couldn't unlock car doors with remote. We should not have to pay for this fix!no recall should have to have a death or injury to become important!
Beginning in mid-october 2019, when i attempt to turn off my acadia, i get a message that says, "action required.shift to park".it will not allow me to turn my car off or exit the vehicle and lock it.in order to circumnavigate the error, i must turn my car back on, shift to drive, shift to park and turn my car back off.at the minimum, i must complete these steps three times to get my car to a spot where it will allow it to turn off.this only occurs when i am in park, attempting to exit my vehicle.
I was driving for approximately 20 mileson a highway with my windshield wipers in the intermittent postion. There was a light snow coming down. The wipers worked up to this time. The driver side windshield wiper stopped working.this affected viability dramatically.it would have been worse with heavier snow. I took it to the dealer and they found the screw had loosened and the wiper motor and windshield wiper were disconnected.
I bought my 2017 gmc acadia on august 3, 2020. When i got home i put my vehicle in park and on the screen it said "shift to park." i had parked on a hill and i thought maybe that's what had caused it. So for the next couple weeks it has done the same thing multiple times. I am usually parked and shifting it into park. I have been late to work because i am constantly fighting with the shifter so my car will shut off. I have googled it and there a ton of reviews saying that they are having the same problem as me. I am very disappointed that nothing is being done about this. I paid a lot of money for my vehicle and i'm making a payment on it as well. I have to small children and it's a safety hazard because some has made comments that their vehicle rolls backwards. Something needs to be fixed. Some have had it fixed and two months later it happens again. I have called the gmc dealership near me, corporate, and the dealership i bought it from and they are all looking into the problem. We, as in the people that bought the vehicle, shouldn't have to pay for a mistake the gmc clearly knows about.
The horn is extremely difficult to activate. A person must use extreme weight and pressure to get the horn to work. Dealership told me that i am not the first person to complain about the issue but as of yet there is no repair that they have to fix the problem. This occurs no matter whether the vehicle is moving or parked. This has happened every since the vehicle was new. The problem occurs every time i try to activate the horn.
The vehicle displays "shift to park" when turning off vehicle even though the transmission is already in park.we have tried many times to restart the vehcie and shift the vehicle.as designed, the keys must stay with the vehicle, so the occupant either has to leave the keys unsecured or stay with the vehicle.i've had to unhook the battery because the electronics will not shut off when in this state. We have had instances where someone has to stay with the vehicle for periods of time.an online search shows many complaints about this issue and no definitive fix.
Panoramic roof exploded.clear day, no overhead trees wires etc. 2 lane road in nc.
I will shift my car to park and then i go to shut off the car and i get a message that pops up saying "shift to park" i can not lock my car and wont shut off filly until i can get it to shift into park fully . Vehicle was stationary when i shifted to park it had happened about 10 to 25 times in the last month
Horn button on steering wheel is very difficult to depress to activate. Usually takes two hands to activate or depress. In a situation that requires horn usage this is not a safe activation usage.
The horn takes a lot of force to honk or engage the horn. I took it to the dealer and the technician said, "it was by design".to me this is a flow and it is a safety concern to me and my family.
Shift to park not recognized when vehicle stationary in park. Vehicle will not turn off or lock during this time.
Place the vehicle into park. Go to shut vehicle off and the dash tells you to shift to park. You have to keep shifting in and out of park till it registers its in park other the electronics don't turn off and if not parked on level ground vehicle will roll. I park in a parking garage and if i wouldn't have been paying attention my vehicle when starting to roll could have easily hit another car or even worse a person. My vehicle is going into shop today so if documents are need i will have them.
On november 8th,2018 took vehicle into cappellino gmc buick, for oil change, tire rotation and inspection even tho inspection was not due until december..was told tires on these vehicles were waring unusually fast..notices were posted all over the dealers facility, told we could buy new ones for slightly less than new price because they were pro rated..this 2017 acadia was leased new, less than one year ago..we believe we should not have to pay for faulty product..at that point called dealer we had purchased from and questioned what was going on..we were told "if it passed inspection, tires should be good for another year."on 11/25/18, while pulling into driveway, the left rear drivers side tire blew out and was flat within a few seconds.. We then called dealer back again and was told to call roadside assistance then bring in asap tp dealer to get new tires. These tires are not safe. On 11/27/18 went into dealer with spare that we were told not to go over 40 miles on. They said they would split price of 4 new tires..we said ok. They then tried to put 4 new faulty tires on vehicle. We refused to purchase more of the bad tires they then gave us the option of buying a different tire that had to be ordered and sent us off with the spare still on car.. We were told it will take at least 3 to 5 days to get the other tires..we have used 20 of the miles just getting back and forth from dealer. We do not feel we should be responsible for faulty equipment on leased vehicle. These tires are not safe..there are children in this car on a daily basis. This weekend we were to be at a hockey tourn. For one of the children, rooms have been booked and he is the teams' goalie. We have no way to get there now. We were not offered a loaner or any kind of help. Had this happened on a highwayof any kind there is no telling what may have happened. We hope you will check into this asap
When shifting to park and shutting the vehicle offmessage displays shift to park. I have had the shifter cable replaced and 3 months later it is doing it again. Obviously there is another issue but gm cannot figure the issue out.
Park to shift warning when trying to shut off vehicle. Problem "fixed" 12/28/2108 but resurfaced again october 2020. Now "out of warranty" many posts with other owners experiencing recurring issue. Does not seem to be a consistent fix. New shift mecahnism, new wiring harness and "bending" the metal contact point that depresses the switch to eliminate the warning "lockout" are the most common fixes. I believe this widespread of an issue should be addressed by gmc instead of burdening owners of affected vehicles with the costs of "trying" different fixes. Thank you
My 2017 gmc acadia with 40,000 miles on it has been saying 'shift to park' when i try to turn it off.
I was driving and the blind siad indicators quit working .i had a car in the blind spot. The modules on both sides needed to be replaced 751.00
The 2017 gmc acadia needs to be recalled for the faulty transmission control assembly and the "shift to park" message. For reference this is technical service bulletin "tsb 18-na-297". Somebody will exit their vehicle thinking that they are in park, the message comes up and they ignore it and get ran over. This is a safety issue as well as a quality issue.
When putting vehicle in park and trying to shut the vehicle off there is an error message that comes up on the display that says to put the vehicle in park.i have to try a couple of times to put in park to get the error to go out so i can shut the vehicle off.
When the suv goes from 6 cylinders to 4 it makes a vibrating noise like a helicopter over head they say this is normal but it is extremely irritating i found out that other people have complained but it appears nothing is being done this noise has to be fixed
Was making a left hand turn around a center median, when the accident avoidance system began flashing in the heads up display, the seat vibrated and the vehicle came to.an abrupt stop in the middle of the street. There were no nearby vehicles or pedestrians. The vehicle's brakes were locked up and would not release until i turned the car off and restarted it. This has occurred in the drive thru lane on numerous occasions. Took the vehicle to the local gmc dealer. Stated there was nothing they could find wrong. Vehicle only has 32,000 miles and the manufacturers warranty is set to expire at 36,000 miles.
Shift to park not recognized when vehicle stationary in park.vehicle will not turn off or lock during this time.
Action required shift to park when vehicle is in park with engine off.
Vehicle when shift to park would indicate the shift was not in park. When i got the vehicle new is when it started. I have put up with it by pressing hard on the gear shift and checking it before turning the car off.
Whenyou tried to turn off the car it says shift to park even though the car is already in park and it shows on the dashboard it's in park and so you cannot turn off the car and the car can roll at the time .you have to start the car on and off and then the horn goes off because the keys are in the car and you have to monkey around with the shift lever moving it back-and-forth pushing the button before it actually car shuts off and it goes into park. This is the gmc issue with their transmission or their computer no customer should have to pay for this fix . This should be especially paid for by gmc when somebody is leasing the vehicle .
Won't shift to park
The horn on my 2017 gmc acadia is very hard to push. It takes both hands. And is still very hard to push.if i had to activate my horn to avoid an accident, i would not be able to in time. And i have to take both of my hand of the steering wheel to push it. This is a very bad design and should be corrected.
Shifter assembly problem.when turning car off, yellow light goes on and car remains on after shifting to park.
The horn on this vehicle requires excessive pressure to operate. I was advised by dealer that they are aware of it, have a bulletin on it, but no repair. This situation could become a danger as horn does not function with normal pressure. This issue has been with the vehicle since delivery. 4/17. This vehicle was just serviced on 9/27
Attention needed - shift to park message on dic vehicle is in parkvehicle won't shut off stays in accessory modecannot lock vehiclevehicle in stationary mode - happens 20% of times parking
When car is in park and the button to turn off the vehicle is pressed a action required shift to park message is displayed and the vehicle will not turn off.the vehicle does not recognize it is in park and will not shut off.
Windshield cleaner nozzle sprays too low onto windshield.when trying to clear salt spray wiper just pushes fluid down and does nit clean spray adversely affecting visibility while driving on highway.brought to dealer to have checked, they agreed that there us a problem.said they will check for any bulletins on problem.nozzles are not adjustable and are made of solid plastic. Also checked another acadia on lot with same results.gmc should fix this problem before ther is an incident.
The horn is extremely hard to blow (safety hazard ). Dealer agrees it is extremely difficult to blow, but comparableto similarmodels, apparentlypoorlydesignedand very unsafe. Should be recalled.
As i was merging onto a traffic circle at roughly 25 mph, the forward collision detection system turned itself on when there was nothing in front of me, causing my car to stop very suddenly and almost causing a very bad accident. The vehicle wouldn't turn the system off until i turned it off the entire vehicle then turned it back on, causing well over 45 seconds to a minute of traffic. I turned off all anti collisions systems and drove the car back to my home immediately after.
Shift into park indicator light comes on even though it has been shifted into park. Cluster won't shut off upon exit.
I bought a 2017 gmc acadia, and have not even made a payment on it yet. It just passed the 36000 mile mark. I have been getting a shift to park warning each time i park to shut off the vehicle. The vehicle says it is in park, but it keeps sending the warning. I have to put the car in reverse and then drive several times before it will turn off without the warning.
The vehicle will show to be in park, but the vehicle will say it is not in park enabling me from being able to shut the vehicle down. There seems to be a shift assembly issue. I've only had the vehicle 3 months but this has become a reoccurring issue over the last week.
My vehicle has been nothing but trouble since i purchased it in june 2017.first, the car came with the wrong door handle on one of the doors that took 3 months to fix because the dealership screwed up the paint on the door and had to paint practically the whole car.and initially the dealerships and gmc corporate gave me the runaround with who was paying for the bill which the consumers should not have to deal with.then the car had a shift to park issue in july 2019 which gmc would not replace at their cost even though they released a notice to the service departments about it because a number of people were having the same issue but never issued a true recall notice because they wanted the consumer to get stuck with the bill.and since then i have had issues with my mirrors not staying programmed and the air venting automatically switching to letting air in from the outside without me changing it.then my car battery started going out february 2020 which should not be happening in less than 3 years of this car being purchased.and now my radiator (which is estimated at close to $1,000 to replace) is leaking; again this should not be happening this soon unless this car is a lemon.gmc won't take responsibility for any of it with this car and this is more problems that anyone should ever have with a car within 3 years of purchasing it brand new unless it is a lemon car which at this point, i think mine is.
The car will not shift to park! it says shift to park!this is becoming more and more of an issue.the first couple of times i figured it may have been a fluke but lately it is anytime the car is driven and i need to park.
I get an error message when trying park my car stating "action required, shift to park". Display shows car in park and shifting console in park. Sometimes takes me multiple times shifting and reshifting, and driving back around to get the car to shut off. This morning took 15 minutes of trying to get the car to park and shut off.
When the car is shifted into park, it often does not show that it is in park. It will roll, the lights will not go off, doors will not lock. To get it to work, you must restart the car and move the shifter in and out of the park position. While you are doing this the car will continue to roll with the brakes depressed. The service writer at the dealer stated that this is a common problem with this model. This has happened at least 10 times.
Does not always recognize that it is already in park and will alert me telling me to put it into park. Will not shut off the lights/radio/etc. Because it does not 'think' it's in park when it is. I have researched this and it seems many other acadia owners have experienced this and had to pay out of pocket for its repair.
The adaptive cruise control (acc) in my 2017 acadia denali will shut off and even cause the vehicle to break for no reason. This has happened numerous times, even with no other vehicle on the road or obstacles in the road. When it happens the acc will shut off, you will hear two distinct chimes and you will see a message saying, 'adaptive cruise control disengaged'.after this happens you will not be able to reengage the acc and if you try the vehicle will display a message that says 'temporarily unavailable.' i have had it to the dealership numerous times and they have stated they don't know why it would happen, and cannot do anything unless they can duplicate it.it happens a lot but the dealership and gmc say there is no problem. The first time this happened it almost caused my wife to wreck, since the acc shut off and applied brakes with no other car on the road, badly startling her, and she thought she had hit something.i even have a video of the acc showing 'temporarily unavailable' after one occasion it shut off and slowed the vehicle. In this instance there were no car in front of me or on either side, but there was one behind me who i am sure was not happy when the vehicle in front of him braked for no reason. A gmc representative told me i can have all the video i want, but it 'doesn't matter and won't change anything'. The dealership did do a complete diagnostic on one occasion and found evidence that the acc had shut off, but the code did not say why it shut off. This has happened at different speeds range from 55 to 75 mph.we have had it happen three times in a 30 minute period and drove for a month without it happening.this causes an unsafe driving experience and should be fixed or the vehicle replaced.i have found other people online who have experienced this, but there are not enough of us to warrant gmc doing anything.
I brought it in to service department a couple months ago because the accelerator would accelerate with out me pushing the gas even slamming on the brakes would get to 85 90 miles an hour. Finally got it off the road and off huge quantities of white smoke from the brakes being so hot. Assured me it was fixed and last night inhighway traffic did it again. Almost got me killed. Service said there was no recall but this is very dangerous!
The contact owned a 2017 gmc acadia. While driving with the cruise control set at 60 mph, the contact attempted to deactivate the cruise control, but was unsuccessful. The contact also attempted to deactivate the cruise control by depressing the brake pedal, but that failed as well. The contact had to steer into a concrete barrier to stop the vehicle, which caused all the air bags to deploy. The contact sustained injuries to the left shoulder, ribs, and a broken tooth, but did not seek medical attention. Police report number: 2018809633 was filed. The vehicle was towed to an unknown dealer where it was deemed a total loss. The cause of the cruise control failure was not determined. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and case number: 8-4427699189 was opened. The failure mileage was 27,200.
Sunroof spontaneously shattered while on highway. No evidence of any rocks or external objects causing the glass to shatter.
The passenger wiper blade does not cover sufficient area of the windshield to permit the passenger to see the 'right' portion of the road.the unwiped area accumulates dirt and adds to the visual obstruction of falling rain.an unbelievable visual distortion of the road results.i am 70 and am appalled at the lack of wiper coverage in a critical portion of the windshield for the passenger.most passengers assist the driver in the safe operation of the vehicle by calling attention to impending problems.their contribution is limited in this vehicle due to the poor wiper coverage of the passenger side.the portion of the car above the bottom of the windshield was moved in on the sides of the car by design change.the normal swath of the passenger wiper for a full width car doesl not work with this redesign.the passenger wiper pivot pointshould be closer to the front of the passenger and wipe to the right edge of the windshield.help !!!this wiper situation is really awful, unnecessary, and fatiguing to the passenger.the a, b, and csections of the windshield were selected for the specifications when we had full windshields going to the right and left sides of car. Now that the edges of the windshield has been moved in,the specification coverage for the passenger is not sufficient. Thanks for listening and hopefully, you can do something .... We hate driving this car in the rain.
Head lights are very dim making driving the vehicle at night very unsafe. Took vehicle to gmc dealer, tech said that head lights are within gmc specs. Too insane to drive this vehicle at night an accident or even death can occur.
Premature tread wear on all 4 tires.car has 34400 miles on it.took car in for oil change and asked service department to look at tires.i was told this is a problem seen a lot with 2017 acadias.service department told me that michelin would pay to replace all 4 tires but would split the cost with me, meaning i have to pay 500-600 dollars for new tires when gmc and michelin know this is an issue.these are 60000 mile tires and should not be worn this badly at 34400 miles.i lease this car and have a year left.i do not feel i should have to pay anything to replace defective tires.i was also told that michelin's offer to split cost is only good until 36000 miles which doesn't give me much time to decide what to do or pursue a more satisfactory resolution. If i don't replace the tires in the next month or so, i will have to pay full cost to replace them later.if i turn the car in early, i have 13 payments left to roll into a new lease which increases my monthly payment significantly.michelin and/or gm need to do the right thing and put all new tires on at no cost to me.
We leased a2017 gmc acadia back in oct. Of 2016. Last week my wife was driving home in wet conditions due to rain and going around 35 miles per hour where she hydroplaned the car. Luckily when she hit the curb, the car corrected itself and luckily there was nothing more serious. We took the car to a local garage to inspect and upon review, he stated that all 4 tires have dry rot and should be changed immediately. He advised us to go back to the dealership. When i called to make an appointment, they stated that the tires are wear and tear and are not covered however i feel these are defective tires. We have 26k miles on the car and this oct. Will be 3 years so we are averaging under 10k a year. I am attaching pictures so you can see what we are speaking of and ask you to advise us and our dealership which is van buren buick gmc located in new hyde park, ny. I do not feel safe driving with these tires and ask that you step in and assist us. I have 2 young daughters and do not want something more happen until this is addressed.
I have had avibration in my car when you would drive all the time took it to the dealership on anumber of occasions they couldn't figure it out. They all said it was normal why the car drives. I thought it was the tires. Took it to ntb talk to them about he said it's tires most likely. So i call tire manufacturer and they gave me new tires. I requested gm do this they told me no. I had them replaced by ntb i requested to gm theyreimburse for the installation of the tires which was a little over $101.00 they said no. I want to be helped with this. Gm didn't want to do what is right and fix the issue also pay me back for what should have been covered under warranty but wouldn't replace the tires so i had to do what i had to to give my wife and son a safe car to be in. Can you please help me out
Both rear tires, michelin total performance with 29,322 miles on them are losing chunks of rubber from the tread. The treads are not down to the wear lines. This is a safety issue and because i am the second owner of the vehicle, the dealership will not help me. This was first noted when the car was sitting in the driveway.
Battery died, had to have replaced.car was approximately at 2 year mark when it died.
Michelin premier ltx m/s 235/55r20 dry rotor cracking between treads all 4 tires 30,000 miles doesn't seam right.
