Read complaints for GMC ACADIA (2013)
In early 2019 we noticed that the airbag icon was illuminating intermittently and a notice on the dashboard stated that the airbag needed service.initially, this occured sometimes while idling and sometimes while driving.ultimately, the light and the message became persistent and continuous anytime the switch was on.having failthfully used the brand's dealships for service over the years we addressed the problem to the local one in early march 2019.after diagnosis the dealer attempted a local repair.it failed immediately.upon returning with the same complaint today the dealerdisclaimed being able to get the listed part much less install it to correct the problem. At present, we're saddled with a vehicle with a compromised safety system and no way to fix it.
See attachedthe consumer stated the airbag light would turn on and of. The airbags have been repaired, but contiued to fail.
Massive air bag failure, notice that all air bags are not functioning.two friends that have same vehicle have same failure.told that passenger weight sensor or wiring failure will cause massive failure of air bags.this seams to be a safety problem and needs to be addressed., 2 out of 3 having the same failure seems excessive and of national concern.please address this and let me know i don't want my daughter driving without proper air bags, told cost may bein excess of $1100.00 and the carhas approximately 74,000 miles.2nd item:rear electric hatch on closing has a loud clunk just before closing, last 2 inches like something is binding or about to break.this is a lower priority unless it is possible for the hatch to open going down the highway . The other acadia tested did not have the hard clunk [metal to metal sound]on closing, this has existed almost from her new purchase of the acadia, dealer told us nothing to be concerned about they had seen it before.thank you for making it effective to make a safety report.
My car keeps popping up the 'service air bag' light. I have had it looked at several times. I was told that the connector needs to be cleaned. They have been cleaned but it keeps coming on. I see there was a recall for certain models but my car doesn't have any recalls currently. It will come on while sitting idle, driving, parker, doesn't matter. Help!
Service air bag warning lite comes on.dealership advises $12-1400 in repair costs.have had other electrical issues with car.spent almost $1000 replacing wiring harness to side detection.had to replace most of dash wiring harnessdue to water damage which couldn't determine if manufacturing issue or accident repair.that was about $3000.now after checking kelly blue book potential recall comes up.don't know if reported prior or fixed by prior owner.too much coincidence that comes up now and goes from passenger side to now driver side..dealership got light to go off fora while.late last fall came back on again.
I just purchased this vehicle.it shows a "service air bag" message.this was covered by a recall. Gm says the recall was completed on this vehicle.but gm also issued a sb indicating some recall repairs may have been faulty.i believe this was faulty in the case of my vehicle.a gmc dealer looked at it and indicated that the work was not done properly.gmc is refusing to correct the problem.
Airbag wiring short repaired under nhtsa recall 14v118 on sept 30, 2014.next airbag warning light goes on august 2019. Repair by dealer reveled a short in the same wiring that was originally recalled. Dealer corrected airbag wiring short but dealer and gmc refused to honor original recall stating that this recall was only for one repair. I had to pay out of pocket to keep airbags functioning even though it is the same issue that was re-called.
The contact owns a 2013 gmc acadia. The contact stated that while driving the air bag sensor warning light remained illuminated. The vehicle was taken to crews chevrolet located at 8199 rivers ave, north charleston, sc 29406, to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the air bag wiring harness was defective and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure however, no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 150,000.
Airbag light came on for no reason
Airbag wiring short repaired under nhtsa recall 14v118 on sept 30, 2014. Then sept 13, 2019 airbag light goes on again and dealer had to repair same airbag wiring. Dealer and gmc refused to honor original recall and stated that the recall was only for one repair of this wiring and not for second repair of same wiring problem.
Air bag service light keeps coming on
My transmission has been acting up since 50,000 milesa/c acting up since 70,000 milesair bag light keeps coming ondealership wants to charge me for warranty workone dealership refuse to work on my car
I was made aware the air bags are the ones that can if the expand injure the person setting in front of the air bag or it can be fatal.
Service air bag light and msg is displaying. When driving the car sometimes shifts hard.transmission fluid has been checked everything seems to be okay.
The contact owns a 2013 gmc acadia denali. While the vehicle was stationary and while driving various speeds, the "check air bag, service air bag soon" warning message displayed. Also, the contact stated that the air bag service indicator remained illuminated. Bob ross buick gmc (85 loop road, dayton, ohio 45459, (937) 356-3845) was made aware of the failure and stated that the vehicle was not included in a recall. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 86,000.
I was coming off a red light and was hit by another vehicle on the drivers side / front drivers side of the car. The other vehicle was driving at least 55 mph as that is the posted speed. I had two children in the back. One in a rear facing car seat. The seat belts did not engage. The car seat flipped to the side . No side or front air bags went off.
Air bag service light is on.defective wiring harness. Transmition issues as per a common complaint on this vehicle. The vehicle shows all of these issues both when running parked and while in motion on all types of roadways
The service air bag light remains on even following the required service under gm bulletin no.: 14030 which was performed prior to my purchase of the vehicle. My local dealer inspected the vehicle and stated that the recall was completed by another dealer, however it looked as if an amateur has done it. They felt that they could ask gm to cover a repair again, however gm denied it. The vehicle is not working as it should following recall service, and one of gms own dealers has stated that the previous repair is not satisfactory. Recalls repairs that fail should be required to be fixed again.
Driver side detection blind zone, intermittently comes on, then after several days just stopped working, i replace the blind zone module located under rear bumper, it worked fine for a week and then shows service side detection system, and both sides blind lights on mirrors don't work, all this happened while the vehicle is running
The service department failed to properly repair my vehicle and possibly sold my vehicle to me with prior knowledge of faulty "battery charging system". I was told i just needed a new battery (which was replaced twice within the same week). This process began on 11/12/2016. I received the same error on my dash (battery charging system needs servicing) and my battery had to be jumped just like before on 4/12/2017. I contacted onstar and made an appt.with the service department at mccarthy morse chevrolet for the next morning (4/13/2017). However i didn't make it because my car went up in flames in my garage about 15mins. After me and my children got out of it!!!! other issues that were addressed during this 6mo. Time frame included: a/c replacement, head gaskets and head bolts replacement, timing chain and cam shaft actuators replacement, and flywheel replacement. I feel like the services department had prior knowledge of these issues and didn't correct them before either.
I have been having electrical or radio problems since 2016 finally in 2017 they replaced the radio they stated the radio was the issue. Because my radio freezes and turns off and on.every second months later it started doing it.i am a nurse i am a busy mom too. Took it back to dealer and they did reset, update and the radio was fine. Months later there i go having same issue and now no warranty for radio. Now they are saying that they cant replace with warranty because is not covered. Wow is insane, dealer does not want to take part in this issue. I have seen a lot of people comments with same problems with radio of this model too. I need a solution to get my radio fix. I have had to go to the dealer and literaly tell them what is wrong with my car in order for them to fix.
After the "service battery charging system" announcement, my husband went online to find i probably needed a new battery. I drove a few blocks and had the battery/alternator tested (they were fine). When driving home the vehicle entered low power mode. Many systems started turning off: radio, heater, stability, traction, abs, speedometer, and the vehicle started chugging. By now i was on aportion of the highway that was rural and trying to make it to closest mechanic. However, the car lost power/turned off. With this was loss of power steering and i let it coast to the furthest/safest spot. I've read others lost power braking, but i let it coast so far that i wouldn't know. The car lost power to the point my 4-way flashers wouldn't work. I've paid a tow bill and have no idea what's going to happen. Very, very frustrated and disappointed. Please know one hour elapsed between my battery/alternator being tested and the car dying on the highway (i stopped quick for groceries).
While dropping off some kindergarteners after a playdate, i was parked in my friends driveway and left 2 children in the car with the doors closed. As i stood there with my friend next to the car, i noticed flames shooting out the front left passenger tire. We got the kids out, the car was filling with thick smoke, and turned off the ignition. We called 911 and the fire department arrived within 4 minutes and were able to put the fire out and disable the battery. Gm had the car picked up and dropped us a brand new 2014 acadia a few weeks later at no charge. We were told it was an electrical problem with the windshield wipers but i wanted to be sure this incident was reported since no one asked for a formal report. I just want to be sure this doesnt occur to any other families that may have worse consequences.
The side blind zone detection system became defective, from defective modules damaged from the elements. This causes many electrical systems to become disabled and even disables the vehicle completely. There is a special warranty but only up to 80,000 miles. My vehicle is beyond that. It is still extremely dangerous for many gm customers and replacement parts and labor should be covered for all!
The contact owns a 2013 gmc acadia. While driving approximately 5 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle failed to restart and was towed to the dealer who stated that the failure was contributed to the faulty electrical system. The vehicle was currently being diagnosed. The manufacturer was not notified of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 44,000.
Side detection module is a warranty recall by gm and they will not replace the part due to mileage.i was never informed of the recall by gm so they should honor their recall.
Air bag service light is on.defective wiring harness. Transmition issues as per a common complaint on this vehicle. The vehicle shows all of these issues both when running parked and while in motion on all types of roadways
After i returned home from a short 5 mile drive in the evening on 11/19/13, i shut off my 6 month old car in the driveway and smoke began pouring out of the hood and sparks and fire were coming out below the engine.i called 911 and by the time they arrived about 5 minutes later it was a full blown, roaring fire and the entire front end was consumed.my driveway suffered burn damage as well.thankfully nobody was hurt.gmc has been awful to deal with.they have not replaced my vehicle, not repaired my driveway and have stopped returning my calls.the fire inspector said it was their fault and thinks it stemmed from the heating element that heats the windshield fluid.they are still doing more testing to get the final results though.i feel helpless and totally ignored by gmc.i have tried everything to get through to them and simply to get my car replaced and my driveway repaired because of the faulty product they sold me.their customer service is terrible and i will now never purchase another car from them and will spend as much time as i have sharing this incident with others considering purchasing one of their vehicles.i have a video of the whole thing i am happy to share.
The contact owns a 2013 gmc acadia. While driving 70 mph, the vehicle decelerated to 40 mph and the traction control, stability control, and engine reduced power warning indicators illuminated after the failure occurred. The engine failed and the vehicle was towed to the dealer (jack maxton chevrolet east dublin road columbus, ohio, 43229, 614-681-0129) where it was diagnosed that the computer system failed due to the throttle body. The composition sensor was reprogrammed and the throttle body was replaced. The failure was not corrected and recurred after three months. The vehicle was taken back to the same dealer for diagnostic testing and a failure code was produced at the fuse box. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000.
The steering wheel has a telescoping adjustment that claps when you press down on the steering wheel also it comes up without even using the button to move it. If i am driving down the road i can pull up on the steering wheel or push down on it and it clapes on it's own.
When starting my engine, it rolls over and starts but continues to crank/turn (even after it has started).
Side view indicator lights are constantly on, disrupted by water intrusion into the sensors. Initial recall stopped at 80,000 miles. The lights constantly being on are a hazard at night as there is indirect light affecting my vision and could cause an accident. Additionally, the mirrors are looked at directly while driving and the fact that the indicator lights are always on makes it difficult to view the mirrors at night. I have nearly caused >10 accidents due to this.
Right headlight harness shorted out, needs replacement
I have never had to replace bulbs in the headlights in a vehicle i have owned. The headlights in this vehicle were good about 2 years. But, since then i have had to replace both bulbs in the headlights every year. And, i have to have the a/c system worked on every year as well beginning 3 months after i purchased it. Purchasing this vehicle is the worst decision i have ever made in my life. I am constantly having something break.headlights, wheel bearings, motor mount, multiple issues with a/c, transmission.
The service side detection system has appeared in the dic due to water intrusion in the sensors. They were originally replaced per the tsb16-na-178 in april of 2019. The issue has since re-occurred 2/18/21 while driving, which jeopardizes my safety.i also understand that this may lead to additional electrical issues and may cause the vehicle to enter limp mode.
The contact owns a 2013 gmc acadia. While driving approximately 35 mph, the 'service side detection system', 'low voltage' and 'traction control' messages suddenly displayed before the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was later restarted, but the failure recurred. The cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 55,000.
I put may 6th as i have video of the dashboard. I get traction control, stabilitrak and reduced engine power.i had it in the shop in april for this issue. They couldn't duplicate it so i took video.the only code they could get was replacement of the ecm.the dealership said we could replace two relays that control the voltages or the ecm.they didn't know what was wrong with and just wanted in their words throw parts at it.my husband bought those gmrelay parts and replaced them. He cleaned the throttle body. These items did not fix it and problems continued. Car left him sit and wouldn't turn back on. Car was towed to dealer. The ecm was replaced on august 23rd for $530 plus an oil change. I picked the car up on the 24th. I drove to work fine. I left work and within 5 minutes of driving the car had the same error message. This was late friday so dealer was called monday morning.they couldn't see my car for a week because the original technician at training and vacation.however, car died on my husband on the 28th and car got towed. Now they want me to spend another $500+ dollars to replace the primary fuse box.note a new technician is looking at the car with the previous technician on vacation.this technician remembered a similar incident and they replaced the primary fuse box.no error code diagnostic just a hunch.do these technicians that work in the same dealership not talk to each other?my gmc service liaison says i authorized the ecm replacement so i won't get money back on that work. I trusted what they said. They felt this was going to fix the problem. How can i trust them on this. Extremely frustrated.there was a recall on other gm models but not this one for similar issues. Seems gm has a problem that hasn't been resolved.
This vehicle began having a shaking or jumping feeling at 1800 rpms around 85,000 miles. Unable to be diagnosed at outside mechanic. Continued to get worse and began happening at other rpms. Took to dealership after vehicle hit 109,000 miles and diagnosed at torque converter which they refuse to fix because outside warranty. Per my review of other sites, this has been a recurrent and obvious issue with these vehicles and can leave people stranded on the highway as the vehicle can lose power.
Wipers turn off if blinker on and only work on high
The contact owns a 2013 gmc acadia. While driving various speeds, the light on the side view mirror illuminated without warning and caused the instrument panel and interior lighting to black out. When the vehicle was turned off, the electrical system and lighting returned to normal. The vehicle was taken to two different dealers, including champion buick gmc (855-587-3503, located at 7885 grand river ave, brighton, mi 48114). The dealer stated that since the vehicle had more than 80,000 miles, it would not be repaired under warranty. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and agreed with the dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 82,000.
Vehicle has approx 60k miles, blind spot sensor stopped working suddenly. This is a hazard as the driver comes to depend on this indicator and it goes out suddenly with the location of the sensor under the wheel well/bumper. Resulting cost to repair was over $600 (for passenger side) at the dealership. And i was told it was likely that the driver side would go out next year. The design & where this sensor is placed is particularly problematic for low temp states as the sensor is plastic, gets water in it and freezes and bursts open the plastic container. This is particularly concerning when it goes out while driving - the driver comes to depend on the sensor lighting up the mirror when someone is in your blind spot and this suv has a particularly large area where cars can not be seen. This is a hazard and should be recalled due to the design of this. As consumers, we should not bear the cost of this repair due to a horrible design. I have the actual module that was replaced or can provide pictures upon request. I can also supply a copy of the repair bill if someone wants to reimburse me the cost of this repair.
I purchased a 2013 gmc acadia from car max on february 16th of this year. After 3 weeks the battery was completely dead, but car max reimbursed the cost to replace. Fast forward to may 24th...as i try to leave from work the vehicle would not start. The dash displayed several messages: reduced engine power, stabilitrak off, and battery saver active. The vehicle was towed to tire kingdom and the diagnosis was a bad fuel pump/fuel pump module. The part was replaced and computer reset. All was well for 3 days and the same problem occurred including a dead battery!i drove the vehicle approximately three more days before the same issue happened again. This time, i had it towed to the gmc dealership.they had my vehicle from june 5th- june 12th and even though they received 6 error codes, they stated it was the battery (the same one replaced in february and was recharged a week prior). I was sure that wasn't the only problem, but they were confident it was. I had to pay $508 out of pocket for battery/ diagnostic because my warranty only covers the diagnostic with repairs.all seemed well for 3 days. This time after starting the vehicle and reaching my destination the truck would not shut off! i immediately called gmc (cel illuminated) and after 10 minutes the engine shut off. I took it to them the next day and they started it had a bad fues block. They repaired it, but 8 days later the vehicle wouldn't start again! on july 2nd it was taken to a shop for the 6th time! this time they are saying it is the ecm. I purchased this vehicle because my husband's 2003 gmc yukon has 286,000 miles and little things are starting to go. Ironically it has been more reliable than this 2013!! i have only had this vehicle for 4 months and have already paid out over $1000 in repairs/deductables. What a nightmare!
First it started with the daytime running lights staying on hours after vehicle is shut off then it went toparking lightsstaying on as well and now the driver side lights are out including liscence plate lightsnothing works but the headlight
My vehicle has completely shut off 4 times in the past 2 years while driving, thank god there was no accident. Also my power door locks have locked and unlocked repeatedly by themselves without pressing any button in vehicle or key fob. The locks will go up and down until i shut the car off and then restart. The locks has happened 6 times.also, my electric power steering gear(rack) needed to be replaced at 30000 miles. There were 2 recalls one for airbags and one for seatbelts. This vehicle is unsafe and frankly dangerous, thank god it never shut off on a highway. I have brought it to two different gmc dealer service centers and they can not diagnose or recreate the problem which means they cannot fix these problems. I don't know if this is isolated to just my vehicle or this is a problem related to this particular model and year car. I do not feel safe driving this car, please help us. Thank you.
Service side detection sensors . Sensors failed 3 times.sensors fill with water freeze and short out. Cable harness also had to be replaced because it melted.
The contact owns a 2013 gmc acadia. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 55 mph, the lights on the instrument panel flashed and the engine stalled. The vehicle restarted after numerous attempts. The failure recurred twice. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 14v614000 (electrical system). The failure mileage was approximately 2,000.
Gm is in non compliance with global safety field investigations dcs5011 ...d&s motors rugby nd [a gm dealer]states they can not get the kit-acadia my 2013-14 part no. 84651473---- my vehicle required repair within that extended warranty time from.i am now on my 3rd failed because of water intrusion ,the new wiring harnss is suppose to repair the problem and suppose to have been installed at no cost to the customer.they figure they just can not get it and that's it, they are done with me! they state even today they can not get the kit--they have them for other vehicles, but not mine--i know i will have another failer down the road--your paper says it is urgent --yes, it isw as a lot of things go wacky when it goes!gm paper says specialcoverage adjustmentn172097060 side blind zone?help?

On multiple occasions now, my car has flashed "traction control off", "engine power is reduced", "service traction control", "service stabilitrak" while in motion at various speeds and has occurred most recently just prior to a curve that caused me to drive into the opposite lane because the engine shuts down causing no control in the steering when these lights come on. When the car is at a complete stop, it is then put into park and the key is turned to the off position and has had no consistency of if it will restart or not. If the traction control symbol is still on the display, it will not restart. It has been into the gm dealer it was purchased from with scheduled evaluation of the problem and they state there is not a problem with the vehicle and no codes stored in the system for them to evaluate this problem. The malfunction indicator lamp symbol will stay on or go off on its own at no specific rate. This is a huge safety concern that has caused my vehicle to stop unexpectedly while driving 55mph down a state route and limits steering ability when this failure occurs causing my vehicle to go into the oposite lane on the road. I did record the dash indicator lights after the vehice was at a complete stop partially on the road while still in drive for the dealership service department to view these on the display and i also have the copy of the service department paper that describes there were no repairs completed due to no failure during scheduled appointment on 2/9/17. The malfunction indicator lamp (check engine light) was still on the display when vehicle dropped off in the evening before the scheduled service. Upon pickup on 2/11/17 there were no indicator lights on the display. I am unable to put the mph or estimated miles in the alloted space on last incident on 2/15/17 so am adding here; i was driving about 35mph and there was about 98,170 miles.
My car will flash engine warning signs that the stability control is off. The car then looses power and must be shut off. It has happened while driving at various speeds (25 mpg, 65 mpg) and while stopped. Lights say service stability track, service traction control, engine power reduced.
While driving at varying speeds, vehicle's traction control powers off. As a result, the car looses all power, steering wheel locks, and i am unable to steer or break. Once the car powers down or is turned off, it will restart. Usually the engine light indicator will turn on. It has powered down at it's peak frequency three times within 10 miles. The issue is totally unpredictable and has happened over 8 times total, including on the highway traveling 65-70 miles per hour and on a neighborhood street going as slow as 20 miles per hour. It has been taken to the gmc dealership where it was purchased for repairs 4 times, beginning in april 2017. It is currently there now (the 4th time, was towed today 6/19/17;). It is unsafe to drive as there is no way of knowing when or where the car will loose power. There is very little time to do anything when the warning sound/message appears. Literally, you must pray that no one hits you and that you can coast to a safe part of the road (e.g., shoulder). The dealer has been unable to diagnose the cause or repair the vehicle properly. I work in a city (atlanta, ga) where a car is necessary given the distance i drive from home to work everyday. I have lost valuable work hours and peace of mind with this car. I just want my family to be safe when driving. I have also called the corporate gmc office and opened a case.
About 3 weeks ago, while driving on the highway, the entire dash blacked out for a few seconds, then would go thru checks as it would come back on.the morning i took it to dealer, the problem stopped.they could find nothing.two days ago while driving very slow (maybe 10 mph) in heavy traffic the dash began going thru its checks again.i stopped and went into a gas station for a couple of mins, returned and could not unlock the front doors with my key fob.got into the vehicle and it would not start, nor did it crank (no sound).after trying several times, it did start.o'reilly auto parts checked it and said that my starter was bad.they did not have one in stock.i returned to the car and when it finally started, the radio did not come on.after a few re-starts, the radio did come on.researched the problem, and found a video on the same make and model that mentioned a recall.checked my vin, no recall, but vehicle is under warranty.hopefully they will find the issue and fix the problem.
The service department failed to properly repair my vehicle and possibly sold my vehicle to me with prior knowledge of faulty "battery charging system". I was told i just needed a new battery (which was replaced twice within the same week). This process began on 11/12/2016. Piston connector rod put a whole in the engine at only 62700 (2700 miles after oil change that was always changed after oil change light came on around every 4500 to 5000 miles)miles on the vehicle. We were driving at 70 mph on major highway and suddenly stop responding and would not start in an area that only had half of emergency lane(so the car was taking part of travel lanes) .this was december 27,2018 at 11:30 pm with me, my wife, our 2 kids, our nephew and their friend (8, 12,13 and 14 years old) we were coming back from a ski trip1 and half hour from home, it happened about 40 minutes away from home.we could not come out the car, it wasnot safe place out of the car.state police drove by and did not stop, i called then to send someone until tow truck come.tow truck came first after around 45 minutes.car computer cluster start to show battery was dying, it was pit black with 18 wheeler and cars flying by. This is a safety issue - drivers with families should be made aware.i went to the local gmc dealer to ask why it happened since car has 62700 miles and they ask me if my wife does off road i said no.but i asked my wife to make sure she said no.but to make double and triple sure i asked my 8 years old daughter and my 12 years old if their mother drives on mud, water, bump hills, wet land, shaking places and pot holes. They said no but that would be fun (lol).thank you gmc for a nice holiday gift.
The contact owns a 2013 gmc arcadia. While driving at low speeds and making a turn, the vehicle stalled. Also, the stabilitrak disable and traction control disable warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was towed to team one chevrolet buick (1616 lansing rd, charlotte, mi 48813, (517) 543-0200) where it was diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where an engine was ordered.the vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and provided case number:[xxx]. The failure mileage was 85,393.consumer stated engine was replaced.('parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).')
The contact owns a 2013 gmc acadia. While driving 50 mph, the vehicle slowed down and stalled without warning. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and instructed the contact to call nhtsa. The failure mileage was approximately 95,000.
When driving in traffic and slowing down or coming to a stop.the vehicle goes completely dead.i will have to restart at each stop.when it does start, it is not a smooth take off, it is extremely rough, almost like a manual transmission in the wrong gear. This should not be happening. And it is getting worst every day.i have to transport my family in this vehicle and it is very unsafe for us. I still have a year to pay for it and i am hearing more and more customers with the same complaint. The dealer doesn't want to touch it, because they are unsure what is wrong, or if they can repair it.frankly, this should not be an issue with this many cars. There have been several near-misses with accidents because of the car stalling in traffic.
Piston put a whole in the engine at only 40,000 miles on the vehicle. We were driving at 70mph on major highway. This is a safety issue - drivers should be made aware.
The contact owns a 2013 gmc acadia. While driving approximately 5 mph, the accelerator pedal was depressed and the front tires spun without the vehicle moving. The engine stability and traction lights illuminated. In addition, the contact noticed smoke emitting from the engine. The failure recurred on numerous occasions. The vehicle was taken to a dealer. The technician was unable to diagnose or repair the vehicle. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 1,800.
These symptoms started over 2 years ago and is very intermittent.driving on the highway, the vehicle suddenly loses power, unable to accelerate andthe transmission will not shift out of high gear. The decrease in speed is significant enough that on now 3 occasions the vehicle has almost nearly been rear-ended. Additionally, on the instrument panel the following indicators and messages occur:- "check engine light"-"traction control off"-"engine power is reduced"-"service traction control"- "service stabilitrak" additional symptoms:- loss of power steering-loss of power brakesonce vehicle is turned off and sits for a few minutes. The vehicle will start and all of the symptoms above will go away with the exception sometimes of the check engine light. This indicator goes off after vehicle has sat overnight. Note this occurs very infrequently...sometimes months in between.august 2018, dealership (chev automation north, denver, co) diagnosed as transmission problem. Paid $5800 for replacement. October 22, 2018, all of the symptoms described above occurred again while on highway nearly crashing the vehicle. Wife now refuses to drive the car again. This vehicle is totally unsafe. It is unfortunate that a fatal accident must occur before any real attention is made to fixing a problem of this magnitude with gm vehicles.
Thank you.
While driving the car it lost power, all the dash light went off, then the power steering shut down, while driving 45 miles an hr. Once able to pull over, the car shut down and could not start back up. The key would not come out of ignition. Had it towed to the local dealer the car was bought from. They reported it was the engine control module which they replaced but the car still will not turn on. Now the say it is an electrical short and can't find it.. This car is dangerous to drive as this is the second time this has happened and we feel that they are just giving us the run around. This car has been in the shop multiple times and never fixed properly
The contact owned a 2013 gmc acadia. The contact stated that while in for service the mechanic noticed the odor of smoke and fuel inside the vehicle. Later while the vehicle was parked a fire had started from within the engine compartment. The fire department was called to the scene and extinguished the flames. During the incident, the vehicle was destroyed. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer step on gmc (5651 pensacola blvd, pensacola, fl 32505) who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was later inspected by an independent company who was also unable to determine the cause of the fire. The manufacturer was notified of the failure.the failure mileage was 115,000.*dt consumer stated vehicle had original equipment.
Poor outgoing call quality when using handsfree bluetooth microphone connection.when using the built-in bluetooth connection to make phone calls, the person on the other end of the call can not clearly understand what the person is saying.call quality is muffled with significant background noise.this is a safety issue.
First it started with the daytime running lights staying on hours after vehicle is shut off then it went toparking lightsstaying on as well and now the driver side lights are out including liscence plate lightsnothing works but the headlight
2013 gmc acadia. Consumer writes in regards to headlight problems.the consumer stated when he switched the headlights from high beam to low beam, he was only able to see the low part of the road, and nothing beyond oncoming traffic. Low beam has a block wall it does not exten out to see beyond when you go in a dip in road you can not see whats out in front of you thisis a safety if a person walking along the road you will never see them . This does need to be corrected.ron walochikmechanic & autobodyi own a 2013 gmc acadiathat's why i am reporting this.
The headlights on this vehicle are horrible , it is a safety hazzard . When driving the headlights only light up the road about 6 ft in feont of you on low beam and there is a distinct line where they stop shining upwards which is only about 4 ft up into the sky .this does not give you enough time to see anything in front of you let alone pwople walking on the sidewalks . I am very dissapointes that this vehicle is 6 years old and this hasnt been taken care of yet . Maybe you should try and drive rhis vehicle and then recall it because you cant see anything on low beam. I was driving on the street after getting this and driving ar night is a safety hazzard that needs to be reconciked for all of us before something happens to someone .
Headlights have been replaced twice since purchasing the vehicle in may 2015.most recently, both headlights went out at the same time. Fuses we checked.prior to the last headlight change, the lamps very very dim and as such visibility was poor, so much so that it was a safety hazard.
Front headlamp collects water. Light is distorted and blurry to oncoming traffic. Bought car during a dry spell from dealer. After a day of rain headlamp pools water and condensation and hasn't been dry since (6 weeks).dealer will not replace and says this is normal...if normal why doesn't the other side have same problem? a $1100. 00 fix!
The car headlights suddenly started going out (while driving) intermittently.to get them to turn back on, i have to toggle the headlight switch through all the settings in the hopes that they will come back on (which they occasionally do.)this happens when the car is going fast, slow and not moving. It happens in any type of outside light. The sensor is not blocked or dirty and it happens when the headlights are not in automatic mode.

The contact owns a 2013 gmc acadia. The contact stated that the day after refueling the vehicle to the full level, the fuel gauge indicated that the fuel tank was empty. The contact then refueled the vehicle again however the fuel level indicated half when it was completely full. While driving at various speeds, the vehicle stalled as the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact initially took the vehicle to an independent mechanic who then towed the vehicle to fresno buick gmc (5515 n blackstone ave, fresno, ca 93710). The contact stated that the mechanic wasable to correct the warning light; however, the fuel gauge would not operate as needed. The mechanic then informed the contact that they had replaced the fuel pump in hopes that would repair the failure with the fuel gauge; however, despite the repair, the failure persisted. The manufacturer had been notified of the failure and she was informed that they were aware of the failure however there was no recall for the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 98,000.
My 2013 gmc arcardia slt model burst into flames on its own on the morningof friday, july 17th.i came home around 9:45pm and parked my suv in the backyard.the next thing i know is that the fire department was at my door waking me up to the suv ablaze. The only work that was done to my vehicle was to have my oil changethat thursday morning.at which time the tech said he saw smoke and smelled gas. He didn't indicate that it was a problem and zi should get it checked.i took suv and ran my errands and returned home. The suv was parked from 9:45pm until said fire.

Won't take fuel just jumps at one point then every time i fill up with fuel it will just set and grind i have to keep pumping the gas for it to finally start then it starts jumping for awhile between fill ups and i'm afraid it will die when i go to pull on the road it's that bad.
Driver side detection blind zone, intermittently comes on, then after several days just stopped working, i replace the blind zone module located under rear bumper, it worked fine for a week and then shows service side detection system, and both sides blind lights on mirrors don't work, all this happened while the vehicle is running
While coasting up to a redlight the car engine lurched and stalled shutting off. This left me coasting with no power steering and no power brakes. Very scary. I was very fortunate i didn't hit anything.we have since found out this is due to a gm known problem with the torque converter. Gm has a service bulletin acknowledging this problem. Tsb 13120a
Air bag service light is on.defective wiring harness. Transmition issues as per a common complaint on this vehicle. The vehicle shows all of these issues both when running parked and while in motion on all types of roadways
All wheel drive turned off while driving up straight up a hill with 2-3 feet of snow. Could not get the car to move in any gear except reverse. If there had been uphill traffic, i would have been rear ended because it stopped moving.
My acadia engine light came on when i put it in drive won't go anywhere. Acadia doors keep unlocking and locking was at my house in driveway. Engine light went off everything is fine. Took it to dealership and they said it's the transmission module making car think it's in park but can't fix it unless my engine light is on when i get it to them. Question from me is if it's thinking it's in park what if i'm driving 55 and it thinks it's in park i'll wreck.i feel my family is driving in a dangerous vehicle that the dealership knows what's wrong and where the problem resides but won't fix because my engine light isn't on. That doesn't make a bit of sense to me
The torque converter went bad within 5 years and had to be replaced due to the engine shutting off when stopped and shuttering when accelerating.the repairs cost me $1500

Havevibration when taking off from a stopdue to defective torque converter with only 95500 miles onvehiclehad to replace and rebuild transmission

Transmission has bad shudder in it taking off and while pulling slight grade on highway. Vehicle has 120849 miles on it. The transmission has a slip in it when trying to accelerate quickly.
Started having issues with transmission stuttering during gear shifts. Very slow shifts at time and difficulty keeps rpm up when climbing hills. Took it to a shop that identified an issue and was advised the transmission would need to be replaced.

Car will not shift till it hits 3500 rpms, and 5000 rpms if u try to get up to speed quickly. Sounds like it's whining like a 4cylinder but it's a 3.6 v6
Shudder in transmission. Had the transmission rebuilt found out the torque converter failed and almost shattered. Over $5000 fix.
Gmc acadia slt 2013, this car had problem with transmission.after the dealer change some parts inside transmission, the car has not stop leaking.i took the car back to dealer several times, maybe 4 times to stop the leaking.they have not be able to fix it.by now, i do not have idea what to do.
The contact owns a 2013 gmc acadia. After the vehicle was parked, the vehicle continued to move forward and dragged the contact as she was exiting. The vehicle rolled over the contact's left leg and crashed into a light post. There was no warning indicator illuminated. The contact sustained injuries that required medical attention. The vehicle was damaged, but was drivable. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 98,500.

2013 gmc acadia. Consumer writes in regards to transmission failure. *ldthe consumer stated the transmission needed to be replaced. The 35r drum and snap rings failed. The manufacturer was contacted and did not offer any assistance due to the vehicle being out of warranty.
My 2013 gmc acadia car just started having shifting issues and turns out to be a transmission issue. The dealer states there is no recall and recommendation i replace the transmission which wouldcost about $4600.this is absolutely absurd. I just learned that acadia's have transmission issues. And of course, nothing can be done because there is no recall on 2013 vehicles. Terrible business.
Service air bag light and msg is displaying. When driving the car sometimes shifts hard.transmission fluid has been checked everything seems to be okay.
The side piece of the two font seats broke, i can't sit properly into my car without literally sitting on top of the side of the seat first. It concerns me because the seat belt sometimes gets stuck. Also the electrical buttons are all fallen, hanging from the side of both front seats do to the same issue.. I would really appreciate if i can either get it fixed or possibly even replace both seats with a different design to avoid sitting on top of it first. I'm sure i'm not the only one with this issue.
Drivers side seat squeaks when driving and braking.basically whenever the seat rocks back and forth.mechanic said he can't understand why it does it but he thinks it's the mounting track on the base into the connection to the backrest.said most likely an entire seat or frame of seat would need replacing.

Shortly after i purchased my acadia 2 years ago my power steering pump started whining. When the belt or pump gets wet the power steering itself goes out unexpectedly for a few seconds. I have had the system flushed thinking maybe just air bubbles... It would be good for 2-3 days and right back to its same routine again! its irritating reading everyone else complaints with their 13' acadia power steering issues and gm has still not done anything about it.
While driving on the highway, power steering suddenly failed making driving the vehicle difficult and dangerous.turning in particular was severely compromised with no warning or indication of an error.
My power steering pump is failing and my car is jolting forward when moving from a stopped position.the power steering is whining and has been for 6 months.the technician at my car dealership said it is a known issue, so why hasn't there been a recall on it?i travel highway a lot and fear for my safety and the safety of my children.

The steering wheel has a telescoping adjustment that claps when you press down on the steering wheel also it comes up without even using the button to move it. If i am driving down the road i can pull up on the steering wheel or push down on it and it clapes on it's own.

At low speeds or stops the power steering get super tight like i don't have any power steering. Took it to the dealership and they said the pump is leaking and it should be replaced. I haven't even had it a year and it not covered. They even know its an issue. Seen a lot of other people have the same problem. Why is this not fixed ????
The electrical motor for the side view mirror malfunctioned on the passenger side of the vehicle and no longer works.it will not turn in and is stuck outward.the driver's side works at this time.the vehicle was stationary in my garage.

This car is dangerous to drive as this is the second time this has happened and we feel that they are just giving us the run around. This car has been in the shop multiple times and never fixed properly
I am not receiving cooperation from southtown motors gmc dealership at 695 highway 34 e, newnan, ga 30265 in reference to getting my recall fixed.my recall notices 10085 and 14187 require immediate attention and should not be driven without being fixed.i am currently in a lease with ally that requires 18 more months lease payments. I would like to eliminate my lease and return this vehicle as i do not feel safe having my wife, my infant, my 3 year old, and my 10 year old riding in this particular vehicle.i contacted ally and they stated i would need to pay almost $7000 to break the lease of my unsafe gmc acadia. This is ridiculous.i cannot get it fixed nor get a different vehicle without penalty. There have been 13 known fatalities in regards to these recalls and gmc is remaining quiet. What else are they remaining silent about.i want out of this lease immediately and require some compliance from someone. This vehicle is not safe and i need your help.
Subject: n172097060 - special coverageside blind zone alert module water intrusioni am receiving service side detection error and my blind spot indicators no longer function.n172097060 - special coverage applies to my vehicle's vin but i am beyond the adjustment coverage period.i have contacted gm customer service and the dealer customer experience manager.both said there is nothing they will do.as the bulletin states this is a safety issue as the blind spot indicators do not function and the issue may result in failure of other driver interface functions.my issue is the result of the same cause, water and corrosion, not because i have more miles. It is very unfortunate this special coverage is limited to miles, when caused by the same conditions. Can this coverage be extended to repair my vehicle?
Bought the car and the ac doesn't work seems to be a common problem and should be a recall
My transmission has been acting up since 50,000 milesa/c acting up since 70,000 milesair bag light keeps coming ondealership wants to charge me for warranty workone dealership refuse to work on my car
Service side detection systemproblem bulletin no. 16-na-178 --- as described gm has a moisture problem getting in to the sensors-- how ever they refused to repair mine completely, in fact can not get a wiring harness to prevent this problem from re-occuring.some song and dance about my ven is not included in this--how ever i had to have it repaired multable times??help?a car beside you and detection does not alert you- that is why you purchased it!
Side detection module/system failure due to environmental exposure caused the indicators to remain on constantly giving operator false sense of vehicle in blind spot. Issue appeared to affect other monitoring and safety systems on the vehicle causing erroneous indicators and apparent intermittent and random system resets of the bcm(?) ultimately resulting in a comple shut down of the vehicle. Although shutdown occurred while parked (even remote access would not work) it is unclear if same could occur while at highway speed.
I was driving 50 mph on a very busy city highway when i heard what sounded like a truck putting on air brakes but no trucks around me, i felt shuddering under my foot. Suddenly "service charging system" or something like that flashed on my dash and i lost power steering, acceleration, everything. I was able to pull hard on the wheel to get into the right lane from the center lane, there was no shoulder to pull off on. Brake was hard to depress, it felt like it was all the way to the floor. I had power from the battery, it was sitting at 12 volts. I turned the vehicle off and restarted, i couldn't hear if the engine was running as the cars going past were so loud, but the radio was on and dash lit up like it had started but it would not move. Called my insurance and they sent a tow truck. While turned off on the tow truck, the outer rim of the head lights and the main headlights suddenly illuminated and about 5 minutes later they went off. Dealer was able to start it, but not move it. I dropped it on thursday, by friday they still didn't have an answer and i have to wait till monday. I had one of my children with me when this all happened. It was very scary. There are just over 36,000 miles on my acadia.my husband also noted that the day before when he tried to start it, it didn't start right away, it paused, he left off the key and about a second later it finally started.
That doesn't make a bit of sense to me
Vehicle has approx 60k miles, blind spot sensor stopped working suddenly.
I have replaced a sensor in my rear bumper twice now. The second time gmc also had to install a new "waterproof harness" to keep water from saturating the sensor. The sensor is directly related to the blind-spot monitor system. When the sensors become saturated, the system no longer works. After habitually relying on this system, it becomes a danger when you do not realize that it is not working when changing lanes or merging into traffic. The original harness should be recalled and replaced in all vehicles using it.
While on a highway using the intellilink navigation system suddenly the icons from another screen, the radio controls appeared over the top of the navigation map. I couldn't see the map anymore and didn't know when or where to turn. Nothing i did fixed it except to pull over on the side of the road and turn off the car and turn it back on again. This is very dangerous because one might turn on a one way road or in to a crime ridden neighborhood.
