Air bag sensor warning light came on, carried it to fowler buick gmc in august, 2015, system was reset. 2 weeks later, light came back on, went back to dealer, had air bag sensors replaced in drivers seat and passenger seat, which cost $1310.00. 2 weeks later warning light comes on and goes off several times when driving. Dealer service cannot find cause but informs me to that air bags will not deploy when warning light is on. 2012 acadia has 81,000 miles on vehicle and i do not want to trade again. I would like to know what options i have since there appears to be nor call for this problem

The side curtain airbags deployed coming up my driveway.there was no collision and my vehicle was traveling only 8 miles per hour.i have asked for explanation from the manufacturer on how the airbags deployed if they did not malfunction.they refuse to provide an explanation or proof my vehicle was tested.

Without probation, air bag light comes on and stays on either until i turn car off or if car sits overnight. I do believe the airbag can deploy when the light is on if we were involved in a crash.

On 2/6/20 after getting into my vehicle and turning on the ignition vehicle wouldn't startso the same day i had my vehicle towed to a certified dealer in union. At the dealer they first stated the ground wire to starter was chewed up so they replaced the starter and then a few hours later they stated no comunication withecm & bcm. They then stated theyfound water intrusion on passage side fuse block that shorted out the ecm and bcm. At dealer they replaced fuse block, ecm and bcm. Well after $2027.05 later they was able to get my vehicle running again but now the car radio and my onstar in vehicle don't work, also traction control,,stabilitrak , abs &airbag service lights are on. Two weeks later my car battery died so i replaced dead battery with a new one. My thing is this ifall these are issues that people all over are complaining about i truly think all these issues should be addressed and fixed a.s.a.p. Before someone gets hurt or killed. By the way i just brought 2012 gmc arcadia on nov.27,2019 and i shouldn't have to be going out of my pocket trying to get all these issues fixed.

I was driving in my neighborhood when my car started making a loud noise as i turned the wheel to the right. I turned onto my street and my car started smoking, smelled like something was burning, and the power steering went out. Luckily i was near my home. I looked underneath the vehicle and fluid was spraying out and the power steering pump busted out of nowhere. Not only was the power steering pump bad but the water pump is leaking also at the same time at 85000 miles.another issue is that the service air bag has been on since i purchased the vehicle and i took it back to the dealership the next day and they said they couldn't find anything wrong with it but it remains on. What if i'm in an accident and the air bags aren't working properly.

Gm recalled and fixed the airbags in this vehicle.now 3 months later the error light is coming back on. Lambert buick gmc in cuyahoga falls ohio is telling me that a common faulty design issue with a sunroof drain is leaking all over the electronics and shorting out the airbag system (2/5/2016).error code b0088 - "service airbags soon".they want me to fix it - gm is not covering.

The contact owns a 2012 gmc acadia. The contact received a notification for nhtsa campaign number: 14v266000 (air bags). However, the part was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not notified. The contact had not experienced a failure.updated 1/7/15updated 03/03/15

The contact owns a 2012 gmc acadia. While attempting to park the vehicle, it accelerated unexpectedly through a garage door. The brake pedal was depressed, but the vehicle failed to stop. The air bags did not deploy. There were no injuries. The vehicle was towed to the dealer and the diagnostic results were not disclosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 36,000.*as

The front passenger tire blew out causing me to run into the ditch. I was the only person in the vehicle but all the rear airbags deployed in the back but not in the front. The front seatbelts locked but not the back....

Note this vehicle has experienced six 'service air bag' faults in 18k miles. On fault, the airbag system is rendered inoperable and will not deploy in the event of an accident.this is being noted as a preemptive safety related issue that should be investigated further.

Warning "service air bags" pops up; dealer says needs passenger presence assembly $200 and labor $500.says air bag will not deploy. Also happened 1 yr ago but message went away until recently.

The contact owns a 2012 gmc acadia. The contact stated that three days after the vehicle was purchased, the contact was unable to start the vehicle. The contact also stated that the check engine warning light later illuminated. The vehicle was taken to kindle auto plaza ford (523 stone harbor blvd, cape may court, (609) 465-5000), where the starter, the timing chain and the transmission were replaced. Additionally, the air bag sensor light illuminated while driving at an unknown speed. The vehicle was taking to the same dealer, where the front passenger's air bag sensor was replaced. The sensor failure recurred several times and the dealer referred the contact to the nhtsa. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 91,000.

The air bag light has been going on intermittently since around 2013.the first repair was completed due to a recall notice back then.the light came back on again shortly after, repaired one more time.the air bag light came on a 3rd time, and vehicle was take to another gm service center for repair.they performed this repair in 2016, and noted they repaired a broken clip, but allegedly was a different problem that the one the recall addressed about 2 years prior.now a few months after this last repair, the air bag light came on again.the gm service center is diagnosing a completely different problem than the first recall, and different than their last repair.this one they are noting a problem with the "right front side deployment loop" and recommend that the passenger seat air bag be replaced. As a consumer, whether the air bag light is "not part of the recall, and you can only get the recall work done once", this is extremely concerning that this vehicle has had so many issues with the safety devices at no more than 5 years of age.this should not be happening with any safety devices on any vehicle that is only 5 years old (although the air bag system has continuously been defective since age 1 of the vehicle). General motors bears an enormous liability with selling vehicles that have continuous safety defects, especially at an early age of the vehicle.

Vehicle jerks at certain speeds, oil in throttle body, slow changing gears, rpm's not adjusting correctly . This happens everydayusually between 30-50 miles per hour. Airbag light stays on at all times and never goes off.

My car has a warning on it to service air bags!the dealer wants to charge me $150 to have it looked at!i do not believe i should have to pay a fee for this!it is not like i have overused my airbag!

I purchased my gmc acadia denali in august of 2012.within just a few months, the service air bag light came on when i started the vehicle.it never went off until i took the vehicle to have it serviced.the dealership repaired it under warranty and within a few weeks it came back on.service trip #2 they got it to stay off for a short time again.service trip #3 they decide they should replace the drivers air bag to correct the problem.since the replacement i have taken my vehicle back in at least 2 other times.on march 25, 2014 i got my vehicle serviced and the light had been on the week prior but was off on this day.i did advisethem of the problem and they said they had not heard of the recent recall.well today4/4/14 the service air bag light is on again.i just called them and they said i would get my notice in the mail from gm and they are ordering parts.whatever that means.i only have 11463 miles on my vehicle and this is a serious issue to me.

My wife and three daughters, ages 11, 9, and 6, were involved in a major crash.an elderly male traveled thru a steady red traffic signal and struck the passenger side of my wife's vehicle as she was crossing the intersection with a green traffic signal.after impact, they were pushed head on into a traffic standard (which was taken out completely) and then into a telephone pole, also head on.not one airbag deployed.the vehicle is supposedly equipped with front and side airbags.in march of 2014 there was a recall concerning the airbags not deploying in these vehicles (# 14v118000).i have owned this vehicle since new and did return it to the dealershipin may of 2014 for the recall shortly after receiving notification.i was advised that it was taken care of.

Service airbag light is on. Airbags will likely not deploy in the event of a crash. Nhtsa shows a recall on this item for all 2012 acadias; however, my vin does not show up as a pending recall. Gmc dealer and gmc both decline to address issue as a recall.

My 2012 gmc acadia was involved in gm safety recall 14030 in may 2014 concerning the 'service air bag' light coming on (nhtsa campaign number: 14v118000). Even though my vehicle had not had the problem, on 09/24/14 my dealer performed the recall by removing the driver and passenger side impact airbag (siab) wiring harness connectors and splicing and soldering the wires together.yellow electrical tape was placed over the splices.vehicle had 16,924 miles on it at that time.shortly after the repair was done the 'service air bag' light started coming on.we quickly determined the light would go out if we "wiggled" the yellow tape under the passenger's seat.gm issued service bulletin 15536 in august 2015. They had received reports that, in some cases, the required repair for gm recall n14030 may have been incorrectly performed by the dealer service technician.under this special coverage dealers were to remove the section of the wire with the faulty repair and re-connect the wires at no charge to the customer.gm identified all vehicles involved with 15536 by vin on the applicable warranties section in gm global warranty management system.when i took my vehicle in to have the 'service air bag' light problem fixed, the dealer saw the light was on but their scan revealed no codes.he said this was not the same issue and my vin was not included in the service bulletin anyway. The dealer nor gm customer service could explain why all vins involved with the original recall (14030) were not covered by 15536. This is a safety issue (air bags will not deploy with "service air bag" light on) and gm appears to have arbitrarily determined some vins had good repairs and some others may not.i think it is only fair and logical that all vins involved with recall 14030 should be included in service bulletin 15536 and request your help to make that happen.

The contact owns a 2012 gmc acadia. While the front passenger seat was occupied, the service air bag indicator illuminated intermittently. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer for diagnostic testing or repairs. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact to take the vehicle to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer stated that the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 14v118000 (air bags). The approximate failure mileage was 114,000.

Service air bag message is on. There was a recall on other year models that caused this light to come on and i wondered if this was the same connector defect.

The contact owns a 2012 gmc acadia. The contact stated that while driving 30 mph, the air bag light illuminated. The contact was informed by onstar that in the event of a crash, the air bags would not deploy or may deploy erroneously. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the air bag cables were reset. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 16,519. The vin was unavailable.

Service airbag light on, spontaneously came on, and remains on at all times.repair estimate from gmc dealer: passenger front airbag $991.50r rear sensor $500.85

The contact owns a 2012 gmc acadia. The contact stated that the air bag light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was found that the air bag needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. The contact also mentioned that the failure occurred approximately eight times. The manufacturer was notified about the failure. The failure mileage was 44,085. ..updated 03/18/14 the air bag issue was resolved. Updated 03/20/14

Passenger airbag going off warranting a service airbag message coming up. The module under the passenger seat was already replaced once during the summer of 2016 and is showing needs replaced again. Doesn't seem like we should keep having the same problem just a few years later.

I have repeatedly had problems with the airbag.it has been repaired 4 times and continues to have frayed wiring which disables the airbag.this is a major safety hazard on this suv and has been recalled for issues more than once.i was told by the dealer- d'ella gmc that if the airbag light is on, it wont deploy in an accident.another recall should be issued since there are numerous postings on the internet about the problem

Service airbag display on dash

The contact owns a 2012 gmc acadia. The contact stated that the air bag warning indicator remained illuminated. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 14v118000 (air bags). The contact was uncertain if the failure was related to the 11 tsbs for the air bags. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 47,000.

The vehicle was in motionnear an intersection andapproaching the light to turn. ( near airport in raleigh nc)the front and side airbags failed to deploy duringthe crash. The other vehicle has been declared total loss and mine has significant damage and could be classified as total loss. There are personal injuries. I am attaching pictures of the vehicle and accident report.

The contact owns a 2012 gmc acadia. The contact stated that water seeped into the vehicle through the windshield and damaged the amplifier that controlled the electrical system.there was no warning indicator illuminated. Also, the radio occasionally made popping noises. The contact called balise chevrolet buick gmc at 413-233-4668 (located at 440 hall of fame ave, springfield, ma 01105) where it was determined that there was no recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that there was no recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 93,000.

After getting lift gate recall when opened all the way a loud pop would happen. Was told struts worn. Didn't do it before. As of 1 day ago lift gate will open little more than half way then just start closing on its own. It cannot be stopped. Before when itbumped something it would stop or open back up. Now there is no stopping it. If a child wear able to get between it when this happens it would kill them.i was parked trying to get something out of the back of the car.

Water collects inside the electrical connections between the doors and body. Eventually causes no sound from all speakers except the small tweeters on the a pillars. Then the warning beeping from backup sensor cannot be heard. This puts pedestrians in danger especially when it first happens and drivers are not aware of the problem yet. They are expecting it to beep if someone like a child suddenly crosses behind the vechile. This is a common problem on all gm lambda models since 2008. My windows will roll down on their own while going down the road.i can only roll the windows up and down intermittently while parked and in motion.while driving stability control will turn itself off and blow some sort of gas through the air conditioning vents in the car, then it will start shuddering and slowing down the car to the point i have to pull over.after that issue started, my a/c will only work intermittently as well.

Wipers suddenly stopped during a heavy rain at highway speeds. My wife and three children were on board. The stud that connects the wiper linkage to the motor had broken. Upon researching this, gm had issued a recall to affected vehicles in states that received heavy snowfall, west virginia was included and was where this vehicle spent most of its life. After calling gm they told me they couldn't do anything for me since the vehicle is now garaged in tennessee.

Tl-contact owns a 2012 gmc acadia ---- contact has had issue losing traction control on vehicle --- stability system does not stay on ---- contact was on interstate going 70mph and traction control went off --- traction control went off a second time and engine started smoking while driving --- vehicle was taken to local dealership and dealership stated gas pump was faulty... Gas pump was fixed ...engine was smoking again two days ago and check engine light is on....contact was given number to gm --- 0 recalls associated with this vin.... Cb

The contact owns a 2012 gmc acadia. While the vehicle was parked, the fuel gauge failed to display the correct reading. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 75,000.

I have had to replace the headlight bulb and the day light bulbs 4 times since january. Each time i replace one the other goes out and it does't last longer than a few weeks. This is very dangerous and stressful as the headlights went out on me as i was driving home two nights ago and the road that i take to get home is very dark. Also,i had to replace the multi function switch (windshield wiper switch due to it only working on high speed) in january. I've noticed multiple people with the same complaints. Please fix this problem as buying bulbs are becoming expensive as well as the time it takes to get them replaced can be lengthy.

When we first purchased the vehicle the alternator went bad. The dealer replaced the alternator and battery for us. Then 6 months later the alternator went out again. They again replaced the alternator. Since then the vehicle has had a dead battery at least 4 times. Also noticed that when it rains you can hear water sloshing in the ac vents and then pours down from under dash on both the passenger and drivers side.now my sound in the vehicle has started to cut on and off. This water issue is obviously leading to the electrical issues.

The contact owns a 2012 gmc acadia. The contact stated that the fuel gauge displayed the incorrect amount of fuel in the vehicle. When the contact filled up the fuel tank, the gauge remained on empty. The check engine, oil, and multiple unknown warning indicators illuminated. The dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 18,000.

The sensor reading light continues to come on but doesn't match the area its stating. Took car to dealership for service and lights displaying now won't go off. I have replaced tires and air in the tires light still on. Found that to much pressure is in tires and they may burst.

On march 22, 2019, i was driving home from work on rte. 130, again in the fast lane, i hear that famous beep again, but knew i did not require gas. My vehicle read to service stable track once again and traction control off. My truck dropped down to basically no power in the fast lane on a major highway. Thank god i said my prayers that day, and three cars that almost plowed into the back of my truck and any accidents were avoided. I was able to put on my hazard lights, once again, and make my way over to the shoulder of the highway and was able to get my truck into a shopping center parking lot. I had the gas pedal all the way down to the floor, but my truck was moving at about 10 miles per hour'. Nowhere!! i was scared but relieved because it could have been worse. I could have caused a major accident, or even been hurt. I contacted my dealership t&t coast in sea girt, and expressed to them my problem.i told them i just had this stable track/sensor replaced just a year ago, i should not be facing the same issue. They made false promises, promised to get me into a more reliable vehicle, but it did not work out due to my current credit issues. I ask if they could not get me into a more reliable truck, could they at least fix the issue that i thought was just repaired by the service department. They told me no, it was my issue because of the high mileage on the car. I have learned that a stable track/sensor or traction control is supposed to last the life span of your vehicle. It should not go due to wear and tear or high mileage. I also did additional investigation on my end, and learned that gmc has been having this same issue with many other customers, along with electrical issues.

With the vehicle is stationary, i opened the power lift gate, it opened completely, and suddenly fee fell about 1 to 2 feet, stiking me and my 6 month old son in the head. I have repeated this operation multiple times standing clear of the lift gate and it continues to do the same thing everytime. It is not safe to access the cargo area of my vehicle until this is repaired. I called the gmc dealer in bunkie, la to see if it was covered under the 2012 gmc acadia recalls for power lift gate malfunctioning, and they said it wasn't covered.i disagree.

The contact owns a 2012 gmc acadia. While attempting to drive the vehicle, the abs, engine, battery, and traction control warning indicators illuminated. The steering wheel seized and became difficult to maneuver. Also, the key failed to retract from the ignition switch. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of thefailure. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000.

I have been having problems with my vehicle for a while now. The car will cut off in traffic i have gotten stuck in the seatbelt as well as today while i am trying to make a left the car would not accelerate as i was hitting the gas pedal i could have been killed. I have taken my vehicle to [xxx]on another occasion because i had just left the gas station filling the tank up i got in the truck pulled out of the gas station and the gas gauge started going up and down my overhead lights came on and the car just died out in 45 mph traffic i took it in and all they keep telling me is if they can't duplicate the problem they can not help me how is this safe number one number two i do not know when the vehicle is going to cut off. I have had the speedometer just go up and down as i'm driving as well as the radio would just start to shift from auxiliary to cd to radio without ever being touched. If i hit a pothole lights start flashing this is unacceptable. But i'm being told there is nothing that can be done because they can't replicate the problem how is this on my shoulders i'm paying for an extended warranty that is not worth the paper it's printed on. It has to be an electrical short or something they just do not want to repair. But i can not keep putting my families lives in danger driving this vehicle because they say they can not replicate the problem. This is dangerous and gmc will not help.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

The contact owns a 2012 gmc acadia denali. The contact stated that the vehicle often decelerated independently and would not exceed 30 mph. Also, the doors would unlock and "service stabilizer bar and service traction device" appeared on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to autonation of laurel (500 washington blvd, laurel, md 20707, (866) 255-2985) where it was diagnosed that a new wiring harness needed to be installed. The vehicle was repaired. Two weeks later, the repair failed. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer three times for repairs and was currently waiting on another repair regarding the transmission's modular harness. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. The failure mileage was 89,000. The vin was unknown.

My gmc acadia denali has a little over 80,000 miles.i have other vehicles for everyday use so i only drive the acadia for long distances over the weekend. The vehicle sits in the garage when not in use. I have had no issues with the vehicle until i took it to the dealer to have one of the head light bulbs on the passenger side replaced. After i picked the vehicle up i drove it to new york and on my way back (the next day) had the service light come on to let me know there was a problem with the battery. I looked at the battery indicator in the dash and noticed the charge was getting lower and lower.by the time i got to baltimore, md the indicator was below 12 and the vehicle finally shut off. Towed the vehicle to the dealership and they first replaced the battery but that didn't fix the problem. They then replaced the alternator. I drove the vehicle three times and it worked fine. Three weeks later i tried to start the vehicle and had no battery power. Tried jumping the vehicle but it would not gather enough powere to start the engine. Had the vehicle towed to the dealer. They said that the new battery that was installed had a bad cell. I am afraid that's not the issue; it's obvious that something is draining the battery when the car is not in operation and it all started when i had the headlamp. I think gm is aware of electrical issues with the acadia. I just want to make sure i put this complaint out there. I am not confident that this problem won't occur three weeks from now.

Car make some vibration and loss power at between 2000 and 2700 rpm, when i make some aceletion on low rpm, and make some noise when transmition need change gear, up o down, on low rpm, dealer in first time, say the problem was a throttle body, and i fixed, but a problem keep going, went i returner to dealer shop, now they say it's a tramition problem.

Instrument cluster malfunctions while driving. All gauges stop responding and automatic controls become disabled. All dashboard gauges become disabled and unresponsive and looses information. The dashboard light brightens to day mode. Automatic light system, cruise control, automatic lock system, blinker indicator, radio, dvd player, seat belt signal, driver door buttons, and holographic display become disabled. Information reads park assist off, service air bags, check gauges and all fault lights display. Issues occur while driving and relatively. The onset, frequency and duration of issues fluctuate at random.

While driving my gmc acadia the car started loosing power, it then gave a message that said traction control off/on it also had stability track message.

When driving or even after just sitting for a while without the controls on or off the back panel that controls the heat and air in the second row the knobs are extremely hot to the touch. I have children and grandchildren that sit in the second row daily and this has happenedsince purchasing the vehicle.

Today with the fuel gauge showing 1/2 tank full, my acadia ran out of gas and i was forced to the side of the road. I have seen recalls for other year models for this exact problem, but the year my acadia is does not matter to gm.this is a very serious problem that could cause a severe accident. Gm's recall number is 14007. In the affected vehicles, the engine control module (ecm) software may cause the fuel gauge to read inaccurately. An inaccurate fuel gauge may result in the vehicle unexpectedly running out of fuel and stalling, increasing the risk of a crash.they know there is a problem why not fix it.

The contact owns a 2012 gmc acadia. While stopped at a traffic light, the driver seat moved and adjusted on its own when the accelerator pedal was depressed. The seat moved backwards and further away from the steering wheel. The contact stated that the seat slid and tilted. The failure recurred several times. In addition, the contact stated that the vehicle made an unusually loud noise when the remote engine start feature was activated. The dealer was unable to diagnose the cause of the failures. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 10.

Lift gate would not open, tried to open my driver door to open it from there and it still would not work. Tried to crank car and it made a lot of clicking noises and looked as if the battery was dead but then all of my doors started making clicking noises. Won't start. Won't release key.

My low beam head lights keep blowing over the past two years, i have had to replace them5 times on the driver side and 2 times on the passenger size.also had my head light harness replaced oct due the blub breaking in multiple pieces.jan of 2019, it rained and my turning signal blub broke again and the lighting component filled up with water and looked like a floating fish bowl.

Daytime running lights constantly need replaced, melting/shattering/cracking on headlight assemblies (both) most likely electrical issue causing it to heat up

I have been change many times the headlight day light of the driver side, stability control going on and stop my movement, i ave to wait for 5-10 minutes and unblock by itself, and the bottom of the rear ac sometimes are super hot.

We bought this used car from a dealer drove it about 4 to 5 months and the left signal light failed, so we changed it worked for one day and then went dead again. Turning left from my street the steering was really hard and had problems turning left but i did finally on another occasion the same thing happened.finally driving suddenly we saw a turn engine off and the engine started making loud noises and went dead in the middle of the street. So we kept gliding with no engine running and went into a parking lot. Lucky for us the car stopped right in the parking lot. Had to be towed few miles to a mechanic that told us the timing chain is broken and in need for new engine. We towed it to another mechanic and the same thing was told. So now it is been sitting at the mechanic's shop for two week waiting for new engine to come in . I can not believe that around 84000 miles this car needs a new engine and it is not cheap at all. The car has a salvage tilte but this does not have anything to do with the problems since too many people have been documenting this problem, steering, electrical and failed engine. Why gm did not recall these cars for these failure. They are putting people and families at risk and we are stuck with the repairs and the bills piling up.

Sunroof leak driving during rainstorm water began pouring in on the driver side from the parking brake. Caused moldy smell, park brake on/off indicator light and brake on warning alarm now not working. Advised by glass co. And dealership that sunroof is causing leak from clogged drain lines and faulty seals. No recalls or tsb's but hundreds of other owners have had the same issue from 2008-2013 models. Ntsb should demand that gmc address this faulty product. Problem re-occurred during car wash following rain storm.vehicle has only 30,000 miles, original owner, now out of warranty.gmc will not cover repairs.

The contact owns a 2012 gmc acadia. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 60 mph, the speedometer gauge stopped at 10 mph. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the instrument panel cluster needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 34,000.

On march 22, 2019, i was driving home from work on rte. 130, again in the fast lane, i hear that famous beep again, but knew i did not require gas.

I have been change many times the headlight day light of the driver side, stability control going on and stop my movement, i ave to wait for 5-10 minutes and unblock by itself, and the bottom of the rear ac sometimes are super hot.

I bought my car at the end of april.june 27. 2019 was the first time that i had the stabilitrak issue.at 102206 miles, took it to the dealership and was told it was the rr and rf speed sensors and right front and right rear passenger wheel bearings.today september 9, 2019 and at 103003 miles it happened again. I was driving both times, and both times the brakesgrind and i could feel looseness in the gas petal and it squeaks like an old spring bed. I am a disabledveteran and i only use the car to get to va appts, grocery store and general errands. I can't afford to spend another $1,200 to get this fixed.i have read online many of the same complaints.there seems to be an issue with this stabilitrak systemand no one seems to know what to do to fix it. Please let me know what steps will be taken to fix this issue before i contact alemon law lawyer.

The contact owns a 2012 gmc acadia. While driving approximately 65 mph, the speedometer decreased to zero and the vehicle failed to accelerate. In addition, the traction control, stabilitrak, and the all wheel drive warning lights illuminated and deactivated. The vehicle independently switched to rear wheel drive. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the cause of the failure was undetermined. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000.

While driving at highway speeds last week my 2012 awd acadia having a major malfunction.1. While driving, door locks engage/disengage2. Trans appears to slip into neutral (high rev/ no power)3. On the dashboard digital readout the transmission "blinked" into p from d (while driving)4. Traction control engages/disengages and the vehicle lurches forward and hard stops5.trans enters some sort of limp home mode where it allows me to drive only up to 60mph, @4000 rpm (like 3rd gear)this process repeated continually for over an hour drive to the dealer, normal operation appeared to occur at speeds below 45mph, but only temporarily and the issue continued again at the lower speeds.i call onstar and they pull codes for me while enroute to the dealer:ecm code =u0101 tcm code= none (failed to probe module)abs code= u0101abs code= c0561 (issue with traction control system)- "service within 7 days"a quick search in automotive forums reveals several other people with almost the exact same issue, with no specific solutions.

After filling up with gas the vehicle failed to start. My husband jumped the car off and once started the check engine light came on with an error code of p062f.now, it happens randomly but is becoming more frequently in last week' it will fail to start then the check engine light will appear with the same error code, while driving at times it will begin to stall until the gas petal is engaged again. Per the gmc dealership it's the chassis electronic control module however my vehicle year model doesn't fall under the recall, by one year.

The front passenger tire blew out causing me to run into the ditch. I was the only person in the vehicle but all the rear airbags deployed in the back but not in the front. The front seatbelts locked but not the back....

While driving my gmc acadia the car started loosing power, it then gave a message that said traction control off/on it also had stability track message.

Driving down the road made my vehicle made a weird noise and lost all power.took it to a dealership they said it was the timing chain.i spent 10k on a newer vehicle and this happens.dealership it gonna be anywhere from $5,500-7,000 to fix it.i cam't afford to fix that.how is gm still making this motor with a timing chain issue and how is this year not on recall for this the years before were on recall for it. My vehicle justs sits on trailer. Jas been there for 2 monthes.nothing like payin on a dead horse

The contact owns a 2012 gmc acadia. The contact stated that there was a warning indicator for the engine that randomly flashed. The vehicle was taken to two different independent mechanics and it was diagnosed that the timing chain failed. The vehicle had not been diagnosed by a dealer. The contact indicated that the independent mechanics repaired the vehicle. The manufacturer was contacted. The vin was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 75,185.

I have 2 ongoing issues, 1st is the car will be driving fine then get a check engine light and have a code for cylinder misfire. Car was at dealer multiple times with issue and could not duplicate while under extendedwarranty. Mysteriously the intake has to come apart and be reworked since the warranty expired, and still has same issues. The 2nd and more concerning issue is the power steering. Initially took in and told the rack and pinion needs changed. Still had same issue and told power steering now needs to be changed, so we did. Sound and still stiff after 2 racks and 2 pumps. Mechanic refused to work it again. Took to dealer yesterday. Says needs new power steering pump. So dealer took for a test drive and said it's still doing it and needs another rack and pinion.at what point is gmc that has a known safety issue with steering going to fix this issue. I can't keep throwing money at this thing and i can't feel unsafe in it. What can i do?

A p0306 code appeared. I took it to my mechanic and he expressed that my engine was 'porous'. When i start my engine there's a rough start. When it's idle the car shakes.

The contact owns a 2012 gmc acadia. The contact stated the engine failed and engine fluid leaked on the ground while the vehicle was parked. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection and they stated the engine block was leaking internally.the dealer replaced the engine tube, pipes, the front catalytic converter, and the power steering system was cleaned; however the failure was not corrected. The steering wheel also began vibrating and shaking.the warning lights illuminated on the instrumental panel. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 2,505. The current mileage was 7,454. ...updated 07-29-13the consumer stated the brakes squeaked and the gas gauge would not register gas being in the vehicle. Updated 08/01/13

The contact owns a 2012 gmc acadia. The contact stated that at start-up, the engine misfire with the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an unknown dealer to be diagnosed. The mechanic stated that the timing chain needed to be replaced. A secondary independent mechanic confirmed the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.

While driving on the freeway noticed the engine light start to blink for the third time.also notice the traction control come on by itself at the same time.while pushing on the gas pedal the cars rpm went up but the speed was decreased. I pulled the car to the shoulder of the road and turned off the traction control manually.i set for about 10 minutes until the light went away.i took the car to the dealer so that they could read the code history.the result was that the car misfired on cylinder 1, 3 & 4.the tech told me that they couldn't figure out what the exact cause was unless the light was on while at the shop.but if it was to happen again to take it back in for further review of the issue.

The contact owns a 2012 gmc acadia. While driving approximately 25 mph, the steering shook and made noises. In addition, the service traction control and check engine indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but they could not diagnose the failures. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 105,000.

The engine misses and has severe carbon buildup on the valves. The intake boot and intake manifold are covered in oil residue from the breather tube for the motor. The transmission started having issues at 100k. It hesitates, shutters, and fails to change gears while driving at highway speeds. The transmissions are a known issue and i dont understandhow this is not a recall.

Noticed a slight squeak when steering so took car in for service and dealer performed nearly $5400.00 of work on my car.here is what they wrote on the bill:c/s vehicle making a squeaking noise when turning the steering wheel at lower speeds found to be leaking to a drop on to other components.replaced steering rack and cleaned fluids.then they also did this service:c/s to fix oil pna leak found in mpvi as well as front cover to engine found to breaking. Two separate oil seeps found during mpvi.due to failed seals replaced said parts and resealed.cleaned parts and test drove and due to these "fixes" performed they also did alignment: c/s to perform 4 wheel alignment for steering rack performed alignmentto me the oil leaks seems to be result of power steering leaks due to erosion of the gaskets and was wondering if this has been reported as an issue as $5400.00 for repairs seems extremely high.was there recalls on the power steering issue?thanks,[xxx][xxx][xxx][xxx][xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).?

2012 gmc acadia. Consumer writes in regards to failed timing chain. *ldthe consumer was informed the engine needed to be replaced.

Engine light came on. Turns out to be cadillac converter.

Took my car into garage because engine light came on and i almost stalled out multiple times before i made it to the garage. My car was trailing smoke. The code said the timing belt was affected. He said that usually means the whole engine needs replaced. My car just turned 80,000 miles. He said car engines last much longer than that, it should not have anything wrong with it. He told me that many gm motors are recalled, this model and age should've been recalled with as many customers he's seen in his shop with the same problem. I bought my car brand new in 2012, i know how it was taken care of. The engine should not be breaking down just as the payments came to an end. Do the right thing and recall the engines.

Car started running roughly. It was loud upon starting.the car would make especially loud noises when on curves.then the check engine light came on.had it checked by a mechanic.was told the timing chain is bad and needs replaced.this mechanic told me he sees this problem a lot & it has to be repaired by a dealership.the dealership's cost for this repair is $4400.i can't afford that.upon calling mechanics all over town, they all say it's a common problem with gm's timing chains.

Driving at 55mph, suddenly the traction control blinks on & off,the vehicle starts skipping.next, service stabilitrack system appears and i almost come to a complete stop, engine running at reduced power appears. I barely made it to the side of the road, traffic was heavy at the time.this is apparently a common issue with other owners and could be a number of different sensors, parts malfunctioning.

Bought this gmc used with 32000 miles.performed regular scheduled maintenance.the car just hit 102,000 miles and the engine seized up. I was driving it home and stopped at a light and the car just died.i thought it was the battery. There was no warning as i heard no noise, did not see any build-up or smoke coming from the car.the dealership and a 2nd mechanic both verified the engine issue.it just blows my mind that a vehicle that just hit 100,000 miles would have an engine do this.the cost to replace the engine is about $8,000-$9,000.

Tamara recall i have replaced two hard fuel lines in the last month from them cracking or the weld failure and now i have to replace one of them again. When these lines fail they spray fuel on the hot engine and transmission that could cause the vehicle to start on fire

Timing gear cover on front of engine leaks oil. It happens after every use and appears to be a widespread issue with the 3.6l v6 engines on the gmc acadia, chevery traverse and buick enclave. The seal on the front engine fails and lets the oil out of the engine. If not caught, oil pours into the engine posing a fire and control hazard.

At 70,000 miles, the valve spring broke, and allowed the keepers of the valve to come out and then the valve dropped into the cylinder.the mechanic had never seen anything like this before, and called it a catastrophic failure.the cost to put in a new engine was $8922.38, and then a couple days later, we had to replace the alternator, which was most likely caused by the engine failure.the engine failed while pulling out of a store parking lot - it just stopped.when we tried restarting the engine, there was a terrible noise (metal parts were grinding inside the engine)

Air conditioner blower speed decreases when brakes are applied and engine speed decreases.air conditioner recirculate button spontaneously cuts off.rear air conditioner blower speed drops when brakes are applied and engine speed decreases and then completely stops blowing despite rear a/c control remaining in the on position.rear a/c button must be turned off, then turned back on to restart blower.voltage meter shows a drop in voltage when brakes are applied and engine speed decreases.

Either i got a lemon, which is definitely a possibility, or there are significant issues w/ gmc as a manufacturer which is evident.the american car industry just won't do business differently but then again, they don't have to- they get bailed out by the government repeatedly.i leased this vehicle in october, 2012.the issues cited above, were related to 3 bad fuel ignition valves, they were replaced finally after i took the car back to 2 different dealers and nearly 6 months of complaining.the issue was when accelerating, the rpms would stick at around 5-6 when i was traveling around speeds of 45 mph to 60 mph.the transmission wouldn't shift into the next gear.this was highway driving, but will happen on 4 lane roads as well.during the same time frame, the stability of the car in ice/snow only worked if the tow package feature was turned on.otherwise, i spun out leaving our neighborhood going down a slope at speeds of less than 30 mph.dealer said it didn't make sense and did nothing.i just keep the tow feature on during snow/ice/rain.electrical issues, heating/cooling system wasn't working correctly, it wasn't heating unless the temp was put at 80 degrees.only thing dealer would concede was there was a kink in the hose.it's happening again- we have to set the a/c at 60 in order for it to cool the car down.very disappointed in this car.once again, the issue with the rpms and heating/cooling system is happening again.i'm paying off this lease early and hopefully will not get a penalty.this is a poorly made car.

The contact owns a 2012 gmc acadia. While driving 40 mph, the air conditioner light failed to illuminate initially, but later illuminated intermittently. The air conditioner failed to turn on afterwards. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that there was a hole in the air conditioner line hose due to the hose rubbing up against the power steering line. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 101,000.

The running lamps would not come on

The contact owns a 2012 gmc acadia. The contact stated that both of the low beam headlamps were inoperable. The contact changed the bulbs twice, but they kept going out. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to central gmc (2907 e parker rd, jonesboro, ar 72404), but they could not replicate the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 92,600.

Constant problem with running lights - burn sometimes - sometimes do not burn.

I have owned this vehicle for a little over a year about every 2 months one of my low beam headlights burn out open investigating online i see there has been a lot of people with the same problem . I have not had any problems with high beams . It is very difficult and expensive to replace these bulbs aswell as a safety hazard .

Both low beam lights failed at the same time.occurred when starting up car in parking lot at work at night.

I have been change many times the headlight day light of the driver side, stability control going on and stop my movement, i ave to wait for 5-10 minutes and unblock by itself, and the bottom of the rear ac sometimes are super hot.

The headlight assembly's are melted and headlights don't work. Seems this is an ongoing problem with gmc headlights in years past that they continue to not address. I am furious that despite reports and recalls on this issue from many years and many makes and models they have not addressed and continue to avoid recalling all vehicles with this garbage headlight assembly, that causes headlights to fail and increases risk of car fire. I want this repaired by this garbage company and something done to make them stop utilizing these unsafe and faulty assemblies.

Drl are causing the headlights to melt.

Drl sockets melted safely issuea service bulletin was issued but not a recall , gm will now not fix it unless i pay 2,600this is a fire hazard

Sept. 3, 2014-running light was out on passenger side. I had taken the car to dealer to do recall on seat belts. Had bulb put in which costs $73.13.returned to dealer on nov 4, 2014 for service, oil change, etc. Light was out again. Tech said he had to order socket- it was shorted out. Went back to dealer following week on fri. Was then told they would have to replace entire headlight assembly due to melting of interior of light. Tech said it was $1000.00 to replace. I told him that no i would not pay for this since it was not my problem but a gmc design and parts defect. He asked if i would pay $100.00 which i agreed to.upon further examination of other headlight we found that one was also in process of failing as well. Dealer said they would replace both headlights. This was done nov 12, 2014.so far so good.

This complaint is in regard to the technical service bulletin 14823, special coverage adjustment running lamp inoperative (may 12, 2015).the running light melted in the housing (fire hazard) and had to be replaced twice at a cost in excess of $1,000 each time.vehicle was stationary.i will not upload receipts as these contain personal information (name/address/ etc.).can be provided upon request.

I have had to replace my low beam headlights either the driver or passenger side every week for the last month. There was a special coverage adjustment #14823 released by gm on may 12, 2015 and i was told by gmc i needed to make a complaint to try to be eligible for special coverage. There is clearly an issue here and definitely a safety problem. I can't see having to spend over $1000 to replace the headlamp assemblies for a known problem

The contact owns a 2012 gmc acadia. The contact stated that the daytime running lights failed to illuminate. The contact mentioned that when replacing the light bulb, the base of the bulb and the plastic harness was burnt and melted. The contact stated that the bulbs were replaced on multiple occasions. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 40,000.

Daytime running lights constantly need replaced, melting/shattering/cracking on headlight assemblies (both) most likely electrical issue causing it to heat up

Headlamps keep melting/burning out

The contact owns a 2012 gmc acadia. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle experienced intermittent headlight failure without warning. The contact took the vehicle to gold star buick gmc (1980 n davis rd, salinas, ca 93907) and was informed that the headlight failure was due to electrical connection. The contact was also informed that the vin was not subjected to a recall. The manufacturer had not been notified of the failure. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.

Beginning about 4 months after i bought the vehicle, the fuel gauge began to malfunction.the gauge fluctuates from half full to empty.many times the gauge shows 1/4 to empty but the tank is empty.i have run out of gas numerous times (at least 10 times) over the last 2 years because the gauge shows i have gas and the tank is empty.took it to the dealer on numerous occasions and the dealer said they checked it but found no problem.this is a dangerous situation when traveling on the freeway at high speed and i lose all power steering and brakes.i now have to fill up the tank when the gauge reads half empty to avoid running out of gas.the gauge is completely unreliable.

Truck has a horrible fuel system. Driving down the highway and lost power in vehicle. Less than 90k miles. 2 bad fuel injectors already, a fuel pump replacement, not to mention other mechanical issues.

Chassis electronic control module internal contamination - gmc recall 14515 - this is a recall on a lot of gm cars and trucks which includes the 2012 gmc acadia but my vin doesn't qualify.this control module is exposed to water and all of the elements which is why there is a recall. Ours failed yesterday at highway speeds and the car died at 60 mph.we were lucky to be heading to the exit when it died and not involved in a crash.i've spoken to 3 gmc service centers in the area and the gmc assistance center and they tell me that my vin does not have any recalls.very dangerous situation that occurred and all of these vehicles need to be fixed.

2012 acadia needed a replacement of the number 2 fuel injector in 2015, number 4 in 2016, and at the end of 2017 required all 6 replaced, plus the fuel pump.all 3 times these issued occurred while i was driving on the freeway when the vehicle warnings of service stabilitrak, service traction control, and reduced engine power started going off.the car then began to smoke heavily from the exhaust pipe and it was required to limp off the freeway, praying that i wouldn't be hit as i went from 75 to 40 in seconds.

Truck has a horrible fuel system. Driving down the highway and lost power in vehicle. Less than 90k miles. 2 bad fuel injectors already, a fuel pump replacement, not to mention other mechanical issues.

The first thing that i want to say is that some of the recalls are not for the 2012 model but mine has had the issues with the fuel moduler not reading correctly as in one recall and also the shifter clip causing the vehicle to not be in the correct gear. What do i do? also the second thing is the a/c broke within the 3rd year of having it. The third thing to go wrong is the power steering. It comes and goes but as long as i push on the gas i have power steering. I'm very concerned about the fuel moduler because my daughter drives this vehicle also traveling the interstate to work and also a very populated secondary road.

Automobile stalled while driving and would not start.service completed at chevrolet dealership on june 12 to replace fuel pump control module, which was a recalled part on gmc acadia's.i called gm and was informed my vin was not part of recall and was told i would be called back with an explanation why.i never received a return phone call.car stalled again while driving and would not start.service completed at gmc dealership on august 12 to replace fuse block that controls fuel pump.approximately 2 weeks later car stalled while driving, then restarted.returned car to chevrolet dealership for service.they held car 8 days but could not find source of problem, though thought it was the fuel pump.car stalled again on september 8 then restarted.brought to chevrolet dealership for service but again they found no service code.was informed with the number of miles on vehicle, 60,100, i should not be having these issues.car stalled again on september 10 and will not restart.will need to, again, bring in for service.complaint is in regard to vehicle recall for my year and model, but not for my specific vin, even though recall problem exists with my vehicle.have had car serviced at gm dealerships twice at expense of over $1,000 for the same issue and issue persists.gm has not responded and gm dealerships have been unable to solve problem.

My fuel gauge is reading empty and the miles left is not working. Even though i have gas in the tank.

Put fuel in vehicle, pull away and about a mile from fueling up the fuel light comes on warning me that the fuel is low.

Engine surges when on highway causing rpm gauge to fluctuate or bounce to 2 to 400 rpms. Vehicle shaking when driving up an incline or anytime anytime putting engine under a load specially before a transmission shift. Took to gmc dealership twice and they said they couldn't locate the issue. The issue still persists.

Tamara recall i have replaced two hard fuel lines in the last month from them cracking or the weld failure and now i have to replace one of them again. When these lines fail they spray fuel on the hot engine and transmission that could cause the vehicle to start on fire

Cb

On several occasion after driving the vehicle for several minutes, gas gauge fluxes from 1/2 tank to empty with yellow warning light becoming engage, after shutting it off and turning back on the gauge goes back to normal, this is happening all the time and has been looked at by a certified gmc dealer. Dealer did state that there was a letter out about this problem but the current way of solving it is not working.

Highway, vehicle in front kicked up a backpack unable to avoid, when speed was lowered, odor of gasoline noticed, stopped, fuel tank leaking, towed to nearest dealer. Photo attached

The contact owns a 2012 gmc acadia. While the vehicle was at a red light, the check engine warning indicator illuminated and the vehicle lost the ability to accelerate. The contact pulled the vehicle over to the side of the road and turned off the engine. The vehicle failed to restart and was towed to an independent mechanic who determined that the fuel pump control module failed and needed replacement. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 107,000.

On 03/07/15 at approximately 1715 at tyler state park our vehicle was backed into the parking space on a slight incline at cabin one. Our 3 year old daughter was in our 2012 gmc acadia in the driver seat and our friend's 9 year old son was in the passenger seat; with the vehicle in park the ignition turned off and the keys in my husband pocket. Our 3 year old daughter was able to get the vehicle out of park and into drive, causing the vehicle to roll forward down the incline, across the street and hitting two trees. This caused damage to the bumper and right quarter panel causing the passenger door to catch on the metal frame when opening the door and the front end of vehicle shakes when driven between 65mph-70 mph. Both children were ok with just bumps on their heads. I called the gm dealer in tyler, tx and was advised by [xxx] to contact a gm dealer when i returned home since the vehicle was drivable and we were on vacation. On monday march 16, 2015 at approximately 0715 i called texan gmc and spoke with [xxx] and advised him of what has happened with the vehicle while on vacation. [xxx] advised me i could bring the vehicle in to have the recalls fixed but i would need to call gmc customer service @ 800-222-1020 and get and incident report started with them and see when they would like to have a technician take a look at the vehicle. I called gmc spoke with [xxx] and she gave me a claim #[xxx] i then took the vehicle to have diagnostic testing done on monday 03/16015 and was called on monday 03//23/2015 advising me that there were no finding of a malfunction with the vehicle and that gm will not be fixing any damage to my vehicle that was a result to this incident. No matter their findings there is a malfunction somewhere and i feel that gm does not want to admit to there being a malfunction. I just want the issue fixed so this does not happen again.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

The contact owns a 2012 gmc acadia. The contact stated that the transmission had been slipping in any gear from shifting out of park. The contact had to apply the emergency brake to prevent a potential failure if it may progress with no warning while changing gears. The vehicle has been inspected by an independent mechanic who suggested that the vehicle be taken to a dealer for inspection, diagnosis and to determine if there was a recall to service the transmission. A dealership has not been contacted yet. The manufacturer was contacted, had issued 38 tsb on power train and no recalls for power train/transmission yet. The vehicle was not repaired yet. The vin was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 115,116.

Vehicle shudders and engine surges if engine rpms drop under 22oo. Car does not drive smoothly. Has tripped into "limp home mode" while driving on 4 lane highway at 60mph.vehicle had to be towed. Dealer "said there was not error code to repair", have taken it in on 4 different occasions with a repair to fuel relay repair, motor mount, and twice with no repair before warranty was up, now outside of warranty in mileage. This vehicle is not safe. Problem has been going on since august 2017.

While driving 30 mph on a city street the drive shaft of my 2012 gmc acadia fell off. I was able to quickly move my vehicle into a parking lot to avoid further damage. Upon inspection with the tow truck driver we noted that the awd drive shaft fell from the under carriage of my vehicle. It seems that all six bolts had fallen off this drive shaft.initially the gmc dealership refused to repair my vehicle which is undera 5 year 100,000 warranty as they said the vehicle must have been sabotaged but they could not provide any proof. I pointed out to the service manager that there was no evidence of any sabotage and let him know that i would be pursuing a warranty claim with gmc corporate as well as ma dept of consumer affairs. The service manager called me back about 30 minutes later to let me know that the general manager agreed to repair my vehicle this one time was while responsive to my request did not appear to address a potentially larger safety issue. I inquired about reporting this incident to the nhtsa and they did nothing which is why i am contacting this organization directly.updated 1/29/16

The car sputters and hesitates when changing gears. I took it to a gmc dealer and found out the torque converter and transmission were bad. I researched and found multiple complaints of this happening with the gmc acadia. I received a price of approximately $4500 to correct the issue. I did contact gmc and was told no assistance would be offered.

Vehicle shudders and jerks at all speeds.it is particularly worse at lower speeds.the automatic transmission is acting like someone is popping the clutch on an manual transmission.it is scary and dangerous to drive when this is happening, however it only happens intermittently.have found many similar complaints via google, however cannot get dealer to address the issue as no error codes are present and they cannot recreate the issue.

The torque converter is failing per dublin gmc. That is the cause of the stuttering.in addition, the rear lift gate has failed and will not stay open in either power or manuel mode. Apparently my vehicle manufactur date is out side the recall months for this recall (per dublin gmc and self check on this website) recall # 5420 and nhst #15v415000. How do i get the mfg to pay for this potentially lethal failure (it almost got me when it failed as i was taking groceries out of back)

The transmission is slipping or shuddering under certain conditions.most frequently noticeable around the shift points between 2nd&3rd, or 3rd & 4th, especially when the engine is downshifting to climb a hill.there is a strong vibration and rpm bounce a bit before it finally engages after a couple seconds.i have recently learned that acadias have a long history of transmission problems, notably the torque converter and wave plate.

Well gm strikes again. I just submitted a transmisson with my 2014 silverado but it looks like my 12 acadia has the same transmission issue. We bought this acadia used and within the first year of owning the transmission failed due to a known issue by gm. I almost got rear ended today because the transmission shuttered significantly enough that the car wouldnt go. I am extremely annoyed. I think its time we go to another manufacturer...the 35r clutch wave plate is junk and sends metal throughout trans and destroys it.

The contact owns a 2012 gmc acadia. The contact stated that when attempting to accelerate when in drive, the vehicle jerked. The failure recurred multiple times. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

Under acceleration the vehicle shutters between 1100-2300 rpm the vehicle shakes and is a very common issue with all of these vehicles this major transmission issue must be addressed as this is a wave plate issue in the functionality of the transmission my vehicle is currently at 86,000 miles and is experiencing this issue and must me addressed if not this can result in a sudden loss in power on the highway causing a potential accident this recall was executed on the 2007-10 acadia, traverse, outlook. Number 10126145.

When driving my car and holding the speed at 50-60mph the rpm begin to fluctuate and the car shudders. Also when going up hills it does them same thing and and feels as if it has a harder time shifting.my car only has 97944 miles on it.

Axle rod pulled out of gear box causing the entire wheel/tire assembly to fall down.according to dealer the assembly had not been "machined" at all at the factory and could have failed at any time.the rivets were not pulled out is how this determination was made.it happened with no warning after turning left onto the highway from my driveway at a low speed.car was unable to be steered or stopped coming to rest about 30 yards after failure.dealer has informed us that gmc manufacture requested the parts be returned to them and this may become a recall issue due to the fact that the rivets should have been flattened on the assembly line when hit by the machine, they obviously were not and they need to determine how many vehicles may be involved.this is a big, bad deal and could have killed us if we were traveling at any higher rate of speed.other lives are most likely in danger.the consumer stated the left front lower ball joint separated from the control arm. The rivets holding the lower ball joint were never installed correctly.

When operating at various speeds, inclines, and various temperatures, it lurches, fluctuations on tachometer. Dealer has known about the issue since i bought it brand new and informed me that general motors is aware of the problem with transmissions with this year and model, but has no plans on replacing transmissions or addressing this. It is a defect with my 43,000.00 dollar investment, which could directly affect the value of my investment. The mileage is 17,500. Please inform me as to what can be done about this. Sincerely,[xxx] thank youinformation redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

When it is parked and idling it sounds like it wants to stall. When i am driving it it shifts hard and the transmission starts slipping. I took it to a reputable mechanic for an assessment of the problem and he said his computer said that it was the traction control module in the transmission and that it would cost about $1500 to repair it including labor. He called the dealer to see if it was in stock and they said they had many of them. I would assume that they would not stock a $700 part in that quantity if they were not having quite a few problems with this part. Other suv's have been recalled and i was wondering why mine was not. I would appreciate it if you could look into this matter for me and get back to me with an explanation. Thank you for your time as i may be getting stuck somewhere with my wife and children in the car..

The rpm gauge is fluctuating up an down when i'm driving down the road, highway, city roads it is happening when coldor warm and it don't matter if it's flat roads or a incline. It been happening more an more now.

We got this car in hopes it would last 3 years. When we drive it, the transmission shudders and acts like it is going to die driving down the road. It is very dangerous and annoying and i'm afraid to drive it. It is really such a shame, the car seems so nice but drives worse than a sherman tank. It seems to do it worse at low speeds, on the military base 15mph 20mph average speed it does it constantly. It also does it on the highway at any speed.

Transmission shudders and makes for a very uneasy, uncomfortable drive. It acts like it is going to die in the middle of driving down the highway.

The contact owns a 2012 gmc acadia. While driving approximately 65 mph, the contact disengaged the accelerator pedal briefly while switching lanes. Upon engaging the accelerator pedal again there was an increase in the rpm reading but the vehicle would not accelerate. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic. The technician stated the vehicles computer needs to recognize the throttle gear which caused the hesitation. The technician stated there was no repair necessary. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 3,000. The consumer also stated the same issue occurred when slowly approaching a light, that then turned to green before coming to a full stop. When he applied the gas, the engine rpm's would rise, but the transmission did not engage for a period of 3-5 seconds. Updated 04/25/12

My 2012 acadia only has 112,000 miles on it, and i am having transmission issues.it started as a vibration (washboard sound) for about 5 seconds when you were traveling at 55 to 65 mph.i have had my vehicle serviced regular.after having it in the shop 3 times for the same vibration, i was finally told it could be the transmission.it is sad that i have such a nice vehicle and will have to trade because gm will not do anything about the faulty transmission.to replace the transmission it will cost at least $5,000.00.this could keep me from purchasing another gmc.the problem is on going unitl i decide, repair or trade.

Around april/may 2015 i began noticing issues with my vehicle when shifting, upshifting and downshifting while driving.i took it into the dealership several times with complaints of the transmission skipping, hesitating, sputtering, and a variety of other words that i used to describe the issue. The problem continued to become worse. Time and time again the dealership told me they test drove the vehicle, couldn't duplicate the issue, and couldn't do anything further b/c no code was coming up on the car. Again, in december 2015, i took my car back in because the problem was worsening. Again, the same story from the dealership. Only this time they suggested i service my transmission. I did. Then i was told that there was clutch material in my transmission fluid which meant the clutches were failing and i would be looking at a transmission rebuild sooner rather than later. I asked what if anything could be done, i was told nothing because there were no codes on the car. So i have a car that i purchased 3 years and 3 months ago brand new looking at a transmission rebuild. I then contacted corporate and began the process of a formal complaint. After speaking with corporate and then subsequently the dealership again, the dealership took my car back in. This time. They pulled out the transmission, and behold, the 35r wave plate was cracked (which i asked if that was it back in may after doing some internet research and seeing that several others have had this exact same issue with a cracked wave plate) and the torque converter was replaced along with a couple of other items and the system flushed. It seems as though there is a design flaw with the transmissions that need to be corrected. If this is such a common problem, why is gmc attempting to play dumb when there are obvious issues and push the cost off onto its consumers?i feel 100% that the dealership knew all along.

Vehicle jerks at certain speeds, oil in throttle body, slow changing gears, rpm's not adjusting correctly . This happens everydayusually between 30-50 miles per hour. Airbag light stays on at all times and never goes off.

While accelerating, the vehicle will shudder and jerk, even vibrate violently at times. The rpm meter jumps up and down while it does that. You cannot give it gas while it is doing this (you can but it does not accelerate). I was on the interstate when the vehicle began to do this and starting losing speed quickly. Luckily, that time it only lasted a few seconds before i was able to speed back up. This could easily cause a wreck. Took it to the dealer and they found no error codes or issues. I explained what it was doing directly to the mechanic and he knew immediately it was the torque converter. He explained that my acadia would not go while it was jerking because the car is stuck in between gears. Apparently a very common issue with the acadia but no recalls. Even though i am still well under the mileage of my warranty, gm will not cover the cost to fix because my warranty expired a few months ago.

I would like to file a complaint about the seat belt "locking" mechanism in cars. While i understand it was made for locking carseats tightly into place, i have a big problem with there not being a "release" or "disengage" system in place. Yesterday, my son was almost strangled to death because of this locking mechanism. He pulled the seatbelt out far enough so that when he released it, it started clicking (locking) and the belt got wrapped around his neck in the process. When my husband and i tried to get the seatbelt off of his neck, it was so tight that we almost had to cut the belt to release it. Instead, my husband was able to flip my son upside down and twist him out of the noose. If my husband hadn't been with me, i shudder to think what would have happened. Especially since one of us had to hold onto the seatbelt entire time so that it didn't tighten any further (without two of us there, it wouldn't have been possible to get my son out of there). If there would have been a "release" button to disengage the lock position of the seatbelt, then we could have easily released the belt from my son's neck. There is absolutely no reason why there shouldn't be some sort of release mechanism for times like this.

Right front passenger side seat belt buckle does not lock and secures the right front passenger in place

The contact owns a 2012 gmc acadia. The contact stated when the vehicle was parked it would excessivelyroll forward more than expected. Both the dealer and manufacturer were notnotified of the failure. The contact also stated that the drivers seatbelt was not functioning normally. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 20,000.

The contact owns a 2012 gmc acadia. The contact stated that the positioning of the seatbelt in the middle of the third-row could not be buckled without hurting the passenger. The contact stated that to avoid the discomfort, the seat belt was never buckled. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed that the vehicle was functioning as designed. The failure mileage was 58,000.

The springs inside plastic seat belt retractor p/n 19301109 have pushed through and broken the plastic housing on the male end of the buckle.my dealer says it is not covered by warranty or recall but that it should not have happened.i'm sending you a picture to consider making a special claim as this is a safety issue.green buick/gmc in davenport, ia wants $223 for the whole seat belt assembly when all i need is the plastic buckle cover. They also wanted $90 for labor. I filed case # 8-2087889077 with general motors customer assistance center '[email protected]'

The front passenger tire blew out causing me to run into the ditch. I was the only person in the vehicle but all the rear airbags deployed in the back but not in the front. The front seatbelts locked but not the back....

Warning "service air bags" pops up; dealer says needs passenger presence assembly $200 and labor $500.says air bag will not deploy. Also happened 1 yr ago but message went away until recently.

The contact owns a 2012 gmc acadia.

The sensor reading light continues to come on but doesn't match the area its stating. Took car to dealership for service and lights displaying now won't go off. I have replaced tires and air in the tires light still on. Found that to much pressure is in tires and they may burst.

On april 2nd while driving home from work, was stopping at a stop light and all of the sudden the driver's seat just jerked like it was coming unbolted.it now makes a squeaking noise and the seat has give to it, like its not bolted down real tight.i fear it is very unsafe.we do not even drive the car every day.the main reason i have not repaired it yet is because gm has a history, of saying it is not a manufacturers issue.and i will have to pay for the repair. I have had to have it at the repair shop 4 times already for an air bag issue.then had to take it in for a rusted fuse in one of the headlamps, another issue they told me was not a manufacturers problem and i had to pay for it.the original light bulb was still installed in the vehicle.of course it was a manufacturers issue. Gm also has many reasons for not making recalls on their vehicles.so at this point i feel i don't have many places to turn.i am very nervous about driving this vehicle thatwe pay good money for and gm does not want to take ownership for the issues with the product. So i am left with trying to research and see if anyone else has had this issue.

The brakes and rotors have been to the dealership 4 times to fix them brakes are wearing down t the metal, brake slider sticking open , the last time it was to the dealership on july 2, 2014 i was told breaks are at current standards for measurements with law, to drive it for a few more breaks because two weeks prior to that they put new brakes and rotors are on, now they are grinding again, but have to wait to call and schedule another appointment because they say there is nothing wrong with them 4 times for the brakes to be fixed and they are not.

Intermittent loss of power steering.especially at low speeds.gmc knows this is a problem.extended warranty on 2008 - 2011's but, of course, not for 2012's ("let's see how many people complain before we fix the issue.").forced to replace power steering pump, rack and alignment.

Acadia was traveling at 55 mph when heard/felt a pop/bump. Steering wheel started spinning to left then right. Steering wheel straightened out. While steering wheel was still facing straight, the car started veering sharply to the right. The acadia hit a culver then flipped 4 times, coming to a stop over 160 feet from where it left the road

Power steering failed both power steering pump and steering gear. Car has ~50,000 miles. Vehicle would have feedback in steering at low speeds. No warning light, could have failed at high speeds causing injury.

While going under 10mph on a roadway,(3) different occasions, my steering wheel completely locked up. I braked and then after a few seconds it resumed steering. Got home and my husband checked the power steering fluid, all full. Called local dealer and they said there is no recall on my specific vehicle but many surrounding years have the same issue and have been recalled.

The vehicle has less than 70,000 miles. Steering wheelgot jammed right by house when i was turning in to my parking lot. Thank god i was noton freeway when it happen became it was very difficult to turn the steering wheel after i took itto gmc dealer service it was determined that both the power steeringpump and the power steering gear box has to be replace as a significant cost as they were seized up and would have posed a serious driving risk.

Purchased a gmc acadia denali in sep 2015. Had to have transmission repaired, struts replaced in nov 2015. Began having problems with steering locking up when turning wheel hard and making a loud whining sound as well as burning fluid smell in jan 2016. Took vehicle to dealer and was advised by service department that the power steering pump/motor was leaking and requires replacement, and the rack and pinion is bad and has to be replaced. Further research indicates this is a very common issue with this vehicle and gm is aware of the defective power steering pump/motor and rack and pinion. Even dealer service techs advised it is a very well known and documented problem with this model vehicle yet the repair is not covered by the manufacturer. This is a very dangerous condition to the driver of the vehicle as well as to the driving public and pedestrians in general. There is an open class action lawsuit as well. Nhtsa should require gm to recall these vehicles and make the required repairs as to prevent a clear danger to the public.

This is a 2012 with only 68,423 miles and just had the steering gear box replace because it was leaking. It cost me $1,118.54 (parts & labor). This need to be look into because i have read that other people have the same problem. This doesn't sound to good with low mileage. I am about 71 and all of the cars i had in the past never had anything like this. I took my car to have the brakes replace when the gmc service found this problem. I would thing this should be a recall.

The vehicle has major steering issues. Power steering loss at low speeds making turning and operating the vehicle unsafe. This vehicle should be included in the recall that ended with the 2011 models. The steering rack and pump should not have to be replaced at the buyers cost due to manufacturing defects.

74,000 miles on my 2012 gmc acadia. As of today i will have had 3 power steering pressure hoses on this vehicle.the last one i just had for 2 years and they are replacing it now at the dealership. The dealer tells me this is a known problem and gm has not made an update to the part. So this new part could last maybe a year or two and i will be back in replacing it at a cost of $1300.00 each time. Fortunately for me my car did not seize up, my mechanic found the leak and i had it repaired immediately.

I started having steering problems when i would slow down to make a turn on a city street. The steering was very tight. Unsafe condition without warning. I had the power steering unit replaced, then i was told the rack and pinion had metal in them and needed to be replaced. Mechanic was unable to flush out the metal. I picked up the car today after a cost of $2,200. Drove home on city streets, same problem only tighter turning. Called the mechanic and was told to return the car. Just luck i have another car to drive. Should be a recall on this very unsafe condition.

The contact owns a 2012 gmc acadia sle (lambda platform suv). The steering system is hazardous. It defaults into steering/pulling the vehicle to the left, steering the vehicle into oncoming traffic. The dealer has attempted to repair the unsafe steering multiple (4) times (once keeping the vehicle for a week), none of which has been successful. The attempted repair has included alignments, tire rotations, tire replacement, steering gear assembly replacement and front strut modification. All unsuccessful. Unable to repair the steering, gm has offered to replace the vehicle with a 2013 vehicle (with a charge: the price difference between a 2012 and a 2013 vehicle). The offer has been declined, the state lemon law being utilized to effect a buy-back/refund.

The contact owns a 2012 gmc acadia. The contact stated that while driving at a low speed there was an abnormal noise coming from the vehicle. The contact took the vehicle to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the power steering failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 75,000. The vin was not available.

During the last year or so, my steering goes out when i'm making a turn after driving through a puddle. It kicks back in after 15-30 seconds. I took it to the dealer last year, they just blew it off, said it was a dirty sensor or something, but didn't fix it, nor did they document it. It kept happening. I took it back to the dealer last week (after my warranty expired) and they did $1800 worth of work to the car (new steering pump and steering hose). My extended warranty covered some of it. Last night it stormed again, there were a lot of puddles on the roads and now it's worse than ever!!! the steering is going out even when i'm driving straight through a puddle and it's lasting longer. The battery warning light also flashed on, but then it went off when the steering kicked back in. I'm petrified to drive the car!

The rack leaked and was replaced at approx 50 k miles. Then the power steering pump was replaced at approx 60k miles.

I was driving very slow and the power steering stopped working.it has happened a couple times in the 6 weeks

Power steering rack and pumped leaked at 57,000. The car was not drivable as the steering could not be used. I almost got into a car accident two weeks ago.this is the second rack that has broken.it was replaced by an acdelco gm approved part

Was driving straight and attempted to make a right hand turn and could not turn the car. Almost got in an accident. Third time this has happened. No previous accidents, 90,000 miles. Repairs included: new stering pump, new hoses and new rack and pinion gear

The vehicle has less than 55,000 miles and recently while getting off the highway, in cold conditions, it became very difficult to turn the steering and then after about 500 feet of driving there was a grinding noise.after having the vehicle towed, it was determined that both the power steering cooling pump, the power steering pump and the actual rack and pinion steering all needed to be replaced as a significant cost as they were seized up and would have posed a serious driving risk if they had seized while driving. There are noted tsb on these items as well

Almost crashed into a tree with my 5 year old in the car after going through a puddle on a rainy day.there was a very loud squealing noise and then the steering wheel froze.i needed to shut the car off and turn it back on to unfreeze it.it happened a second time after going through another puddle which thankfully was in my driveway!brought it to get my belt checked and the gmc dealer said they think i have a small steering fluid leak and would need a new rack and pinion?i had a private mechanics second opinion and they said they did not see a leak and the fluid was not low?however my transmission fluid was a bit low?my car does stutter from time to time but no lights have come on to tell me there is a problem?not sure what to do i cant afford the $1400 to supposedly fix the car.we just purchased it a year ago and it only has 70,000 miles on it!i have done research and others have the same issue! gm needs to recall this safety issue before someone gets hurt or worse!! they also need to figure out why so many have stuttering transmissions!i almost got into a collision because my car stuttered as i was turning!the other person had to slam on the brakes as i tried to hit the gas harder!i had a 3 kids in the car on the way to baseball!!figure this out gm please before someone get hurt in this so called family car!!!!

In 2015, the gm dealer replaced the power steering pump due to failure under a recall.on july 7, 2016, i took by car back to the dealer and now the rack is leaking power steering fluid.this continues to be an issue with these vehicle.very unsafe to operate when the steering system keeps failing.this issue has made the vehicle difficult to steer.

The contact owns a 2012 gmc acadia. The contact stated that while driving, the vehicle loss power steering functionality. The contact stated that the power steering failed to operate intermittently. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed.

The steering on the vehicle began to act limited and tough to control. Last week when turning through an intersection, it became difficult to control and avoided an accident only due to low rate of speed. Pulled the off to the side and got the vehicle off of the road immediately after this issue. If turn was conducted at a higher rate of speed, it could have been a problem. After having the vehicle in the shop for three days it was determined that there was a malfunction of the power steering and a bad power steering pump.this was extremely frustrating for a vehicle with only 70,000 miles.

The contact owns a 2012 gmc acadia. While driving 45 mph, the steering wheel began to make a loud abnormal noise and the vehicle steered to the left without warning. The failure was consistent. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 72,000.

Noticed odd noise when turning steering wheel.upon having noise checked discovered that the rack and pinion box as well as the power steering pressure line were both leaking.auto technician advised repair/replacement necessary as noise would get worse and steering would become more difficult in a short time.technician stated that they have replaced numerous rack/pinion units on this make of vehicle.check of the internet finds that this statement is true. Only 76000 miles on vehicle.replacement/repair not covered by warranty.rack and pinion and pressure hose replaced at a cost of almost $900.00.

The contact owns a 2012 gmc acadia. While driving 10 mph and making a right turn, the power steering seized. The contact was able to merge into traffic and steer the vehicle with force. While accelerating, the steering returned to normal. In addition, there was an abnormal winding sound and the failure gradually recurred. The dealer (hanless hilltop buick gmc, 3230 auto plaza, richmond, ca, 94806, 510-222-4141) scheduled an appointment for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that there was no open recall on the vehicle. No further assistance was offered. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.

The contact had to apply force to the steering wheel in order to turn the vehicle. In addition, while driving at a low speed, the steering wheel seized. The vehicle was taken to a dealer who diagnosed that the power steering pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was towed back to the dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vin was included in nhtsa campaign number: 15v415000 (structure). The part needed to repair the vehicle was unavailable. The failure mileage was 56,650.

Continued issues with power steering fluid ejects from the power steering pump when wheel is turned near exhaust pipe and have noticed flames and smoke. Vehicle was stationary

Loss of steering assist at low rpm.result: hard to turn on either direction. When parking, reving up the engine helps steering assist return to "normal".problem is at it worst after driving for 20 minutes or more.near death experience: i was coming of the freeway and attempting to make a turn (at slower speed)when the steering wheel "felt locked and i nearly ended up driving over an busy overpass. It was only due to luck, very hard brakingand hard manual steering that i was able to get the car to turn a little and stop before driving over overpass. Steering fluid level is normal. I am very converned as somoene could get hurtwhen i lose the ability to steer the vehicle (no warning lights and engine running as normal).i can't allow my wife to drive this death trap.dealer recommended new stering pump new hoses and new rack and pinion gear. Car has only 96,000 never been in accidents. Over $4,000 in reppairs!

The steering rack on our 2012 gmc acadia had to be replaced at age 6 years 3 months and mileage of 54,954.i would expect the steering rack should last the lifetime of the car or at least much longer than 6 years and 55,000 miles.car was bought new from gm dealership.regular maintenance was performed.at around 5 1/2 years after purchase, there were loud shuttering and clicking sounds when making sharp turns both left and right.car is only just over 6 years old with 54,954 miles when taken to a gm dealership.dealership determined the steering rack needed to be replaced at a total cost of $1751.96.a quick google search yields numerous complaints of this problem.

6/18/15 liftgate came crashing down on my head so the struts were replaced at dealership for 116.72 plus tax.there is a recall #15240 for this repair.but my car was built on 3/8/2012 which is 9 days after the recall dates you submitted. This date needs to be extended.more investigation needs to be looked into this and obviously my car in within the parameters of this recall.are theywaiting for someone to get hit so hard in the head and be killed.i would hope not.on dec 12, 2014 secondly there is a problem that at 46000 miles the steering pump went out dealership told me to keep the receipt that they are seeing more of this type of repair.this repair cost me 2000.00.can this be looked into also.no steering pump should go out with such low mileage.while steering you could hear a whining noise.

Whiledriving either in the rain, or if hit a puddle .....it doesn't have to be a big puddle either.i hear this god awful screeching noise.i then loose all control of the steering after a few seconds it catches and works.the battery warning light will come on.this happens w every time it rains or i just hit a puddle.luckily i was able to get off the road and out of the way of traffic.first time it happened was november 17, 2015 and has happened 4 times since.was wondering if there have been any recalls or information on this.this is very dangerous and scary!

Difficulty in turning, along with a grinding noise when turning right.vehicle mileage was 73,113. Taken to gmc dealer in brighton, mi on nov. 14, 2014 and power steering pump and rack and pinion were replaced for $2,100.00. The car was then driven approx. 650 miles.the next morning, when backing out of drive, the steering was locked-up and the vehicle went off the driveway.tow truck was required to take the vehicle to gmc dealer in inver grove heights, mn where the same exact parts were replaced again!i have all receipts.

I have had some issues with this vehicle including a failed brake booster and my rack and pinion steering mechanism is currently being replaced due to leaking and probable failure, which i understand is a common problem with these vehicles.i was hearing noise coming out of the steering column when turning for sometime now.i was told that the hydraulic mechanism may fail and cause sudden more difficult turning without replacement. I have also owned another 2007 acadia and had to have a power steering pump replaced 4 times.

The contact owns a 2012 gmc acadia. While attempting to drive the vehicle, the abs, engine, battery, and traction control warning indicators illuminated. The manufacturer was not made aware of thefailure. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000.

Vehicles 75,000 miles on it. While driving through a parking garage, my power steering went out, very suddenly, making driving very difficult and very dangerous. After bringing my vehicle to a mechanic, i was told i needed to replace both the steering pump and rack and pinion. After some reading, it appears as though this is a recurring issue for the acadia that hasn't been addressed for this model year. .

The contact owns a 2012 gmc acadia. The contact stated that while traveling 20 mph, the steering wheel detached from the vehicle. Back in january 2017 i took my car in to have the power liftgate recall work done at my dealer.on 3/1/17 in the evening, while loading groceries in the back of my car the power liftgate fell full-force right onto my head and pushed down onto my neck (and it is a very heavy liftgate!).thankfully i did not pass out.i immediately called my service guy to let him know what had happened.i also brought the car in to the dealer the very next day.after not feeling well the night before, i went urgent care, who in turn sent me to the er for a ct scan of my head.i suffered a concussion.i do not believe that the problem with the liftgate has been solved and think it is a very dangerous situation since there was no indication or signs of a failure. I contacted gm who has opened a case and said they will be contacting me.quite frankly i want to get rid of the car because of this situation.i think all acadia owners should be aware of how serious in fact this issues is.i was totally unaware until i read articles and other materials on the web.i am in the process of gathering all of my paperwork to be scanned and will be filing a lawsuit if gm cannot resolve the issue with me. I will be happy to forward to you any documentation you desire.sincerely,[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Takat recall-i had my recall done on the liftgate in 2015. Yesterday my wife was getting bags of car and it fell on her head. She felt it and slide quickly from under. She already have problems with her head from other things..

Back liftgate doesn't hold and dropped on my head. It never did hold since i got it but it would slip down slowly now it drops hard and fast.

When stationary and using the back life gate.back lift gate will open, then violently come down about 10-12 inches.very likely to injure.if you hold it up, it seems to push down.if you are holding it up, when you let go it violently slams shut.it could severely injure someone.i was told by gmc that my vehicle was not part of a current recall for other gmc acadias -- for the exact same issue..they will not cover the repair as part of the recall, since my vehicle is not part of their recall.i am reluctant to have it repaired myself, as i believe it is the exact same issue address in the recall.if you shut off the power lift gate it becomes even more dangerous, as the heavy door will violently slam shut when you let it go.the date is a guess.no serious injuries, just some small bumps on the head -- but it has a possibility of injuring futher, for a shorter person or child.

As my gmc acadia is sitting in the garage i pulled on the lift gate handle to open the tailgate. Confidence that it was good to step in an put my baby's stroller i proceeded to step in as soon as the lift gate got to it's peek the strut gave in and the gate came down about two feet or so striking me on top of my head. I managed get down as to not get heart the lift gate seems to be out of service because there is no way to open it and have it stay open. It jerks and then it closes itself.

My car was purchased with a power lift gate in 2012.it has always worked fine until one day recently i was holding my young daughter putting a package in the trunk when it suddenly reversed its motion just as it was almost fully open and came slamming down on both my daughter and i hitting me, thankfully not my daughter right in the head.there was no way i could have gotten out of the way of this door-the safety feature which would make it go back up if something was in the way was defective at this point and not working.there was no warning leading up to this event that would cause me to believe the door was beginning to break.my husband looked at it as well when i returned home and it continued to take place and forcefully slammed the door down.we immediately disabled the power lift gate; however, it was almost impossible for one individual to operate the door manually because it would not stay up on it's own and had to be held open.i have contacted gmc and have a opened up a claim with them but they have not reported that there are any open recalls on this car part.we are very upset and thankful that myself or my daughter wasn't hurt worse ( i did suffer a headache for a good part of the day).i feel that this was a very dangerous event that took place and there was no way to get out of the way of this door forcefully and erratically being brought down on my head.we have paid several hundred dollars at this point to rectify the situation and fix the lift gate.i have saved my receipts.the picture below is of the part that broke.

As power liftgate was opening, i started toretrieve items from back of vehicle. All of a sudden, as the liftgate reached the top of it's opening range, it immediately slammed down about 12 inches, hitting me in the head and causing severe neck pain, and continued to travel down. At this point, i am unsure what the actual defect is as i have not taken the vehicle to gm yet to be diagnosed.in googling this issue, i came across another person that had the same thing happen. "i made a report to the nhtsa.the number is 10464171"

The lift gate opens and then immediately falls. It has hit me in the head a couple of times. The lift gate can only be held up if it is pushed up as high as it can go. I am short so that is hard for me to do. I also can't load/unload groceries if i'm holding the lift gate up.i let the lift gate close part way, holding it with my back as i try to load/unload groceries, but now the motor is pulling it closed on me and has trapped me up against the bumber! the car is always parked when we open/close the lift gate.

The contact owns a 2012 gmc acadia. While the passenger attempted to open the power liftgate, it started to close unexpectedly on the passenger. The contact had to physically lift the liftgate off of the passenger. There were no injuries. The vehicle was taken to chevrolet cadillac buick gmc (18475 5th ave, jamestown, ca 95327) where it was diagnosed that the struts needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was unable to provide assistance. The failure mileage was 60,735.

Our 2012 acadia liftgate spontaneously failed when my husband lifted the liftgate, coming down towards his head with speed and force. Luckily he was able to quickly get his hands up before it crashed down on his head. Had this been a child, someone with slower reflexes, or had his reflexes failed him he could have been seriously injured or killed. I have been an rn for 15 years, 6 of which i spent on a trauma unit caring for problem with closed head injuries and so i understand the devastating effects first hand. The physics to this safety issue are elementary. I have reached out to dealership the day we took in for repair and was told basic wear and tear. No not a spontaneous issue like this that can cause serious harm or death. I opened a case with gmc and through gmc facebook messenger only to be continuously corralled back to the dealer. Gmc must do better for their customers who are human beings with families and loved ones. Vehicle was stationary parked in our driveway. Date of issue was fall of 2019. I have been going back with gmc to no avail and now believe i must take this issue further as i do not want anyone else's injury on my conscious and gmc clearly has no concern for this.

Liftgate struts did fail and the liftgate fell down uncontrollably.it happened exactly as mentioned in nhtsa campaign number 15v415000 but the dealership said my vehicle was not on the recall list so there was nothing they could do about the issue under warranty and i would need to pay for the repairs out of pocket.

I opened the rear tailgate and while taking an object out of the back of the vehicle, the tailgate came crashing down on my head with great force.after physically recovering, i tested the tailgate and the issue repeated itself.i called kitahara gmc in fresno, ca and scheduled a service appointment.kitahara replaced the parts, but i was told that it is a wear part and that because there are no recalls there is no way for them to guarantee that the issue won't happen again.i called general motors to report the issue and they offered $100 toward an oil change and tire rotation and claimed that they do not issue recalls.i am reporting this issue to the nhtsa, because i fear that this default is extremely dangerous and could cause severe injury or even death depending on the situation at the time of malfunction.

Replaced headlights - drove down the road my vehicle started bouncingmechanic took it back inthe struts failed when the tires were removed and the vehicle was up

While driving at speeds of 68-80mph there is a vibration in the front. It goes away after 80mph. I have had tires replaced, re mounted and balanced, and new drive shaft.it still continues to happen.the mechanic said we can try replaced the rear axles. I can not afford to replace part after part.

Intermittent loss of power steering.especially at low speeds.gmc knows this is a problem.extended warranty on 2008 - 2011's but, of course, not for 2012's ("let's see how many people complain before we fix the issue.").forced to replace power steering pump, rack and alignment.

My wife's 2012 gmc acadia has been diagnosed with a cracked evaporator core in the air conditioning which the dealership says i will have no working air conditioning soon. The $2100 repair bill disappoints me on a 4 year old vehicle with 96,825 km but i chalk it up as something that can happen i guess.however, what is worthy of a complaint to recall is that the gmc dealership told me my acadia was the 8th acadia in the last 3 months with the same problem. Adding more fuel to the fire, i live in a town of 6,700 people with the 1 gmc dealership; that seems like a pretty poor track record for quality control in a small town and for gmc as a whole. Of course when i called gmc customer service, there was no recalls presently on the issue i have and that they would note it. Personally they must have access to how many acadia's have had the same problem and should from a customer service standpoint, at least investigate that if itis a common problem, recall the vehicles now and not when warranties are expired.hoping this provokes action!

Car is in park when button is pushed for power lift gate. Power lift gate will open, stays open briefly, then will begin close. It 'catches' itself momentarily before slamming shut. It has slammed shut on me several times, causing the hatchback door to hit my heading one occasion.

When the rear lift gate gets to the full open position, it immediately falls down causing a safety hazzard. Luckily no one was in the way when this happened. I haven't had it inspected yet and there are no warning lights or messages. It is available for inspection upon request.

Lift gate would not open, tried to open my driver door to open it from there and it still would not work. Tried to crank car and it made a lot of clicking noises and looked as if the battery was dead but then all of my doors started making clicking noises. Won't start. Won't release key.

The power lift gate isn't working properly. When i press the button, it goes up and then goes down right away.

Takata-the lift gate will raise up but immediately closes. If a person is under the lift gate it will seriously injure them. For some reason it's not staying open.read the recall info back in 2016 regarding this issue. Everything described in that recall is what my vehicle is doing.

After my liftgate opened, it shuddered and came crashing 3/4's of theway down.had i been in the way, i would have been hit and undoubtedly injured.very dangerous situation which has caused me to be unable to use my vehicle for which it is intended - i cannot access the cargo area for loading and unloading heavy and large items.!i purchased this vehicle explicitlyfor it's large cargo area and easy accessibility.i now have a very difficult time loading and unloading heavy and bulky items from the backseat of my car.

Power liftgate closes unexpectedly after opening completely both when vehicle is on or off but parked

The hydraulic rod that holds the engine hood open failed at 35,000 miles.

Purchased the vehicle from the gm authorized dealer in saudi arabia.no one is able to give a certification as to whether the vehicle meets/does not meet the us dot fmvss and epa standards

Transmission stutter

A/c system -on our dual control temperature setting, the driver's side constantly blows heat no mater how cool the setting may be.the passenger side cooling works properly but the driver's side is always hot.

I boughta gmc acadia 2012 in 2015 i didn't have it a year and start having trouble with the air condition i could here a seeping sound it would always blow when i turn it on, but in less than a year it start blowing warm air,i took it back where i bought it from three time for the same problem, after the third time they said my condener had a hole in it causing the freeon to leak out, i think it was alway ready like that when i bought it, they just didn't, say anythingithink tthey should fix it without me paying for it to be fix. This car was on car lot.

Automatic tailgate was activated and it preceeded to the top and stopped. I leaned into the back to get something out and the tailgate came crashing down with no warning, hitting my back and did not rebound. If my child had been standing there next to me he could have been killed. The force from the supports giving out dropped the door with full force. I am just thankful it didn't hit my neck or head. There should be a secondary catch for the door to prevent this from happening. Someone could easily be killed.

My air conditioning stopped workingand the power steering line got so hot that it melted a pinhole in my ac line so all the freon would leak out. The power steering hose is so close that when it gets hot it melts the aluminum air conditioning line.the only way to fix it is to buy a aftermarket line andsplice it together with the damaged a/c line. And the safety hazzard is that if you're in hot car, you'll be more tempted to pull out in front of someone because you need to get some air. If you look at the setup you will see the engineer made a mistake, that's why they changed the design in later years,i think they should be responsible for making such a preventable mistake.

When driving my car and holding the speed at 50-60mph the rpm begin to fluctuate and the car shudders. Also when going up hills it does them same thing and and feels as if it has a harder time shifting.my car only has 97944 miles on it.

Took our acadia to the dealership where it was purchased, for liftgate recall, worked fine before the work was done, now it pops and jerks at the the top of the lift.dealership told us it was normal...i don't feel like it is.

I've started having issues with the vehicles last year. The vehicle will shudder while going up hill or driving on flat surface. I had the pcv replaced spark plugs. No codes, fluid is good.

My 2012 gmc acadia was recalled regarding the liftgate falling. I took my acadia in to be serviced as part of this recall in 2017. Now, in 2019 my liftgate falls. While my acadia was in "park" i pressed the button to open the power liftgate, the liftgate closed while i was unloading the trunk. I was wedged between the bumper of the acadia and the liftgate. I had to push against the liftgate (while it continued to try and close) in order to dislodge myself. After getting the liftgate open i let go and it fell quickly and slammed shut. Had my children been present and were helping unload this could have caused serious injury and even death. I am extremely concerned for the safety of my children and no longer allow them to go near the rear of the "family" vehicle. I did take my acadia in to be serviced per the recall and my liftgate falls. I write this complaint to warn other parents that even though you may have had your vehicle serviced as part of the liftgate recall it does not guarantee that your liftgate will not fall.

I pressed the power lift gate button it opened & i wasplacing a bag in back of car when the lift gate went down without warning & hit me in the head. Causing a head injury that required medical attention2 head lacerations that required 7 staples

My vehicles hatchback/ trunk lifts up but will not stay open. After opening it makes a horrible noise and falls. It actually fell on me.

Engine light came on. Turns out to be cadillac converter.

Evaporator core leaking and therefore sending toxic freon chemicals/particles into the air including an order that reminds me of farm waste.many complaints on acadia, traverse, and enclave.there is a bulletin out there for mechanics on how to fix, but yet no recall.cost to repair $1,300+

Rear lift gate slams down when you try to open it. Started abouttwo weeks ago 11/01/2019. My pregnant grand daughter could have been injured. We had just returned home fromshopping when we opened the lift gate to remove packages when this happened.

When temperatures go below 20 degrees my trunk door will not open all the way when i use the remote opener.it automatically starts to shut, even when someone is already under the back trunk door.i have had several instances where the trunk has closed on my husband and 9 year old daughter.i have had to run over and manually push the trunk open for it to stay open. Even when i try and press the remote opener again it will not open fully.the only way to open the trunk in temperatures below 20 degrees is manually.

Windshield wipers work inconsistently. Visibility can be lost causing an accident.

When the wipers are on and and the left turn signal is activated, the wipers stop working. To get them working again i have to turn the wipers all the way off and back on again or activate the right turn signal.in the rain i have to decide which is more important visibility or using my directional. Not a good choice to have to make.

The contact owns a 2012 gmc acadia. While driving approximately 35 mph in the rain, the windshield wipers only worked at the highest setting. There were no warning indicators illuminated. Exact problem as described by other owner...when the wipers are on and and the left turn signal is activated, the wipers stop working. To get them working again i have to turn the wipers all the way off and back on again or turn off the turn signal. In the rain i have to decide which is more important visibility or using my directional.now wiper will only work on high 6 mos later

Front blower motor for defrost/heating/cooling system intermittently stops working. Seems to stop working more often in rain, snow, and cold. Has been a safety hazard, especially because defrost doesn't work and windshield fogs up. Very difficult to see.believe that some older acadia model years have a recall on the blower motor because it gets wet during rain and snow and no longer works.the 2012 acadia has the same problem. Potentially getting wet through a fault in the sunroof?? (08312020rear blower continues to work.)

Driving on the highway, conditions consist of very heavy rain. Passenger wiper bolt came loose and cause the wiper blade to tangle up with driver wiper. Driver wiper now bent, passenger wiper now stopped working. Driver wiper now did not have enough tension because it was bent to clean the window adequately. I do remember a recall on this problem and did receive a letter from gmc to take the truck back to the dealer. I did take this vehicle back to the dealer in 2012 they said they addressed the problem. I only go to the dealer for repairs and maintenance on this vehicle. I had a small wrench and was able to tighten the bolt up on the passenger wiper. The reason i am submitting this is because the fix gmc suggested does not seem to work. I am scheduled to take the vehicle back to the dealer on saturday. I hope the fix works this time. Seems the solution of using a lock bolt or lock tight would stop the bolt from coming loose. This could be a very dangerous situation and i hope this is further investigated.

I discovered a flat tire and called aaa to put on my spare. They said the spare "donut" had dangerous rust on the bolt holes and refused to mount the rim on my vehicle.they cited a case in a prior week where they mounted a rim like this and it fell off the car.these rusty rims are mounted under the vehicle and represent an unsafe situation.i called gm and they referred me to the dealership. The dealership called gm and they agreed ,as a one time courtesy,to replace the rim.the next day, they called and said they wouldn't replace it but would give me$100 gift card. I said,i need a spare, not a gift card. I sent another e-mail explaining how disappointed i was with them backing down on their word and they offered me road hazard coverage, again i refused and stated i need a safe spare tirei think these spare wheels should be recalled or at least inspected--they are unsafe..and no one's going to notice it until it's too late.i'll have to go through the expense of buying a new spare--the one that came with my care is unsafe and dangerous.
