Since may 2012 our "check air bag" light has repeatedly appeared.the dealer told us that when that light is on, the airbags will not deploy.the vehicle has been taken to the dealer to be repaired at least 4 times.the most recent of which was on december 20, 2012.we were told gm discovered a new repair that they were 90% certain would fix the problem with the passenger airbag detector.the light appeared again tonight, less than one month after the new repair.gmc has been completely non-responsive.the dealer (koons) would only repair the car when the light appears, which is a problem when it flashes intermittently.the fact that we cannot rely on our airbags to deploy is an extreme safety concern.

A clogged ac evaporator drain tube caused water to pool inside my car and shorted out the airbag system. I read online that it is a very common issue and my local dealership told me i was the 7th one this month (all acadias) that have had this problem. Very expensive to fix but more concerning; i have no airbags now!

My service airbag light stays on when i turn my vehicle on at all time. I've taken it to the dealership twice and they tell me they can't find anything wrong. When driving if i try to clean my window, the windshield wiper fluid will not spray out on the passengers side and sometimes it will come out but it won't spray on the windshield. It's like it doesn't have enough pressure to spray it on the windshield. This happens every time while i'm driving and try to clean my windshield to see better. I've taken it to the dealership and they tell me nothing wrong.

The contact owns a 2011 gmc acadia. The contact stated that the air bag warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, who repaired the vehicle but the failure persisted. The repair parts were unknown. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 14,000.

"tamara recall". I received several notices. Initially auto dealership denied recall existed. Now claims it doesn't apply to my car. Original owner and live in south florida. What engine the heck is going on? do we have to have a fatal injury to get their attention?engine mounts keep breaking, 16,000 mile intervals. First time dealership replaced. Now at 33,000 miles my phone problem?guess we need catastrophic failure before manufacturer engineers better engine mounts?! low mileage vehicle, careful driver on good roads. Please send feedback.

The contact owns a 2011 gmc acadia. The contact was driving approximately 10 mph when the air bag warning indicator remained illuminated consistently on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for diagnosis and the contact was informed that the passenger's side air bag was faulty. The manufacturer was notified of the problem, who informed the contact that a defect was not covered under the service warranty. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 56,710.

76,000 miles vehicle:airbag system serviced 1st for recall, and then that same component replaced a few weeks ago- the airbag system is still not working - "further diagnosis" is supposed to take several days and rip apart the inside of the vehicle with no idea on what to fix or how to fix it

Vehicles airbag was activated, brought to chevy dealership was told it was a wiring issue involving passenger side.was told there was. O warranty or recalls to cover problem and would require complete rewire of harness as they were unsure which wire was causing the issue ($2,000).through research found that it is a known problem for 2008-2011 acadia's but our vin wasn't designated as being involved in recall.how gm can claim that a vehicle wxperiencing the exact same issue as the recall isn't covered under the recall is ridiculous.this appears to once again be gm disregarding safety caused by their failures in production so that they can make more money.

When i tried to park my 2011 acadia sle, the accelerator became stuck causing the front of my car to crash into a health club wall. When i saw people running inside the health club i thought i had rolled over someone. So, i tried to back up and when i put the car in reverse it shot backwards with a rolling force and hit an iron post. To keep the wheelsfrom continuously rolling, i had to slam the gear into park and turn the ignition off.i believe this accident should be investigated further before someone else is injured or killed.

Airbag service light is on...i went and had dealership take a look said i need a new modular which could cost over 1000.00.how could this go bad and cost so much.sounds to me that i have had a defective airbag

B0014bad connector / connection under driver's seat (verified)recall for previous years model, but not yet for 2011 acadia

2011 gmc acadia.consumer writes in regards to corrosion and/or loose crimps in seats mounted side impact airbag wiring harness connectors recall notice.the consumer stated he received a second recall notice, for additional repairs. However, the dealer stated the repairs were done, and gm sent the notice in error.

Tl * the contact owns a 2011 gmc acadia.the contact was driving at an unknown speed when another vehicle crashed into the driver's door and front driver's side wheel.the air bags failed to deploy.a police report was filed.the contact and the passenger sustained neck and shoulder injuries that required medical attention.the vehicle was not repaired.the manufacturer stated that the parts for nhtsa campaign number: 14v118000 (air bags) were unavailable to perform the repair.the approximate failure mileage was 66,000.

I've received 3 notices about recalls. Gm told me july the parts are now available, but when i call my dealer they indicated they'll put me a waiting list for when they actually receive the parts.why isn't gm sending dealers enough parts to handle these recalls.my dealer is great it's just gm that is creating problems.telling us they have the parts, then they don't send them to the dealers.my dealer is very frustrated over this as i am.thank you in advance for pushing gm a little to get the parts to the dealers so that i (we) can get our vehicles repaired.

For two weeks leading up to the 3/27/14 incident, every time we started the car the air would not come on and we would have to manually turn the air on.when we turned the car off, the air would stay on.two weeks later, when i was operating the vehicle, the gauges on the instrument panel started going haywire displaying dozens of messages, and the all of the gauges would shoot up, then bottom out at 0, then shoot up again, etc.. I turned the car off, and when i came back later to start it, the car wouldn't start but the electrical stuff came on.after several attempts to get the car to start, i roll down my windows and then try it again, and the car started.i drove it straight to the dealership.the dealership replaced the body control module and some wires and said they fixed the problem.less than 48 hours later, the same thing with the gauges and warning lights happened.we immediately sent an email to the service department since it was the weekend and they were closed.on monday, the car died again, but the radio kept coming on/off....i fiddled with the radio and the car started.i drove it straight to the dealership.they can't get the car to "mess up" again, and are waiting for it to do the same thing it did for me, so they can figure out how to fix it.i am concerned that the car is showing significant electrical problems that include safety equipment, yet gmc is ready to turn the car back on the road.note:all recalls are up to date and the dealer has been in communication with gmc.

The contact owns a 2011 gmc acadia. The contact stated that the air bag indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The local dealer was not contacted. 2011 gmc acadia.consumer writes in regards to airbag recall issues.the consumer received the air bag recall notice in july 2014. He scheduled an appointment and the vehicle was repaired.the air bag light illuminated. The consumer was informed he would have to pay half of the diagnostic fee.

Wife complained the a/c suddenly stopped flowing from the dashboard vents while returning from a shopping trip. I started the engine and was switching the air flow direction from floor to dash when i started smelling smoke and saw smoke coming from the glove box area. I immediately turned the a/c off, removed the glove box, turned the a/c back on and saw smoke coming from an one of the a/c "actuators" up behind the glove box area. Removed actuator, was warm to the touch. Waiting for new replacement part t3983001.

On july 27 at 400 pm i arrived home and my daughter went to take out the trash and i heard her scream daddy the car is on fire. I rushed outside and flames were 6 ft tall i called 911. After putting the fire out he stated th car was running doors locked so they couldnā€™t open the hood

It has happen to me when my vehicle is in motion and when i go above 65 miles ph. The gmc starts to heat up and sends a message on the display saying transmission is hot a lot of smoke comes out and the speed decreases completely i have to come to a complete stop and park in the street until it cools off what is dangerous is that it has happen when i'm in the high way putting me at risk to crash i made some fixes one time the mechanic charged me about $500 dollars to fix itnow is doing it again and they want to charge me about a $1000 dollars more i have been having a lot of issues with the gmc since i got it and i only have like between 9 to 11 months with the gmc hopefully i could get help so they could fix it by the company at no extra charge.

Power window controls intermittentlynot working to close all passenger windows from driver door control panel.only work around discovered is to lock/unlock windows and then close windows, works approx. 75% of time.

My son was driving down hwy 281 and all of a sudden locks started going up and down like crazy, traction control, stability track, engine light all came on and car would not accelerate. Thank goodness my fianc was with him and they managed to get home safely. The next day all the same things above plus backup camera not working and when it park, the box around p kept flashing on and off. Now car won't accel hardly at all. This is very dangerous when your out on roads. There's needs to be a recall and gmc needs to take care of their customers before someone gets killed!i have seen several posts with the same issues so what is taking gmc so long to fix their problems on vechicles?

My interior dome lights either flicker or don't come on at all there are 3 sets and none of the work properly at any time.

I was dropping my son off to school, doing about 20 mph when my car dash started blinking off and on saying traction control is off; check traction control; and then the car just stalled in the middle of a busy road with my son in the back seat. I found out that my computer system had malfunction and that i would need a new on installed.

2011 acadia denali, has hid headlights for night time driving, and traditional incandescent lights for daytime running lights (drl).i noticed the driver's side drl bulb was burned out approximately a week ago (so ~5/12/2019), when i when to remove it to see what size bulb was needed part of the projector housing broke off with the bulb.i then noticed that the bulb socket was partially melted, and the dust seal around the bulb is also partially melted (brown and starting to melt).i also looked at the passengers side and, without removing the bulb, you can see that the projector housing on that side is also starting to bubble/melt.the drivers side bulb is melted enough that i cannot remove the entire bulb from the socket, only the glass wants to pull free.i feel lucky it didn't start a fire.

Under 100k miles and engine just blew up with out warning only had the car for 3 yrsprior when we first got it we had issues with the dvd cd player had to replace it and after 1 yr it went out again. Had issues with headlight bulb being replaced then blowing out. The big problem now is the engine and the car not running

I own a 2011 gmc acadia denali with ~58,800 miles.i noticed that the driver side daytime running lamp (drl) was not working/reflecting as it should.when reviewing the issue, i noticed the drl had melted the light housing and appeared to deform the bulb socket and the wiring connected to the bulb socket. I then took the vehicle to a local dealer to look at and got an initial estimated price of ~$1,100 to fix.all parts discussed are the original parts installed by the manufacturer.i got both a gmc customer service agent and the local dealer service manager involved.both parties agreed to step up and cover a majority of the cost.after reading other similar complaints on this website and other websites, gmc should consider implementing a recall for safety concerns of a fire starting.i also believe that i should not have to come up with any money for the repair; the repair should be 100% covered by gmc.

My 2011 gmc acadia (denali) has now been taken into the dealership 3 times (and likely an upcoming 4th) due to the right front power door lock and window (and rear hatch) working intermittently over the past year.they have tried to replaced the door module and reprogrammed it.the next time, they replaced both the male and female terminals in the connector and applied some grease.not exactly sure what they did the third time.my concern is that it just happened again although after 24 hours it was fine.i understand gm currently has a recall out for suvs but for more older vehicles = fire, smoke, other are linked to electrical problems with the door unit.just wondering if my vehicle is having the same issue even though its 5 years newer.there has been no recall on my vehicle as of yet.

June 11th 2014,it was a wednesday. I drove over a set of railroad tracks and all of a sudden my car starts beeping and flashing all of these lights at me. The park assist off , the traction control off, the service stabilitrak? and the ?check engine? lights all come on. We are in town and not going very fast so i don?t notice the car driving any differently at first. I stop and still everything seems fine, except for all these lights flashing at me. When i try to go again is when i realized that there is a problem. My car will not accelerate. I have the gas pushed all the way to the ground and my car is moving at like snail speed, i?m trying to make a left hand turn, up a hill, to get to the parking lot but my car literally will not move! vehicles are swerving to avoid crashing into us, i call a tow truck and my finance.when we do hear back from the gmc dealership they basically tell us that we?re idiots. They test drove the car and looked it over and hooked it up to their fancy machines and there?s nothing wrong with it.august 16th. My fianc is driving,on a highway at 65 all of those same lights come on and my fianc announces, ?omg [xxx], i think it?s happening again. ? sure enough he is unable to accelerate and the vehicle stalls out in the middle of the road. Luckily for us this time we are on flat terrain and we are able to coast into my mother?s driveway. Because it is so late we decided to just go to bed and deal with it in the morning. In the morning, though, we get into the car and it drives perfectly fine. We drive 6 hours back to rapid city, with no issues, although we are sick to our stomachs.saturday, september 27, 2014 the exact same thing happens.dash reeds as thistraction control offpark assist offservice traction controlservice stabilitrakparts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

While driving my 2011 acadia the low fuel light came on,i go to fill up and there's 3/4 of a tank still full. The next morning i still had a low fuel reading and now a serivce engine light. This has happened multiple times since. This problem with the fuel and/or computer systems causing a false low fuel reading and service engine light has been recalled on other year models, but not 2011. Is there something that can be done to expand the recall? or will gmc correct the issue because it has been recalled on other year models?

Took 2011 gmc acadia in for regular service today and asked the dealership to change the front drivers side daytime headlight bulb since it had not been working for a few days. Was informed by the service technician that the bulb socket was corroded and melted and will need awhole new headlamp costing 995 for the headlamp and 400 for labor. I asked what could have caused this to happen and was told it seemed to be a problem with gmc acadia's as they have seen similar problems with others of the same make and year. Obviously this is not a result of normal wear and tear and a manufacturing issue that needs to be looked into. The service technician said there's a possibility that the other side may melt and corrode as well as that is what they have been experiencing with other acadia's recently.

Fuel gauge is falling to empty with at least 15 gallons of fuel remaining,i have tried fuel cleaner ???? this is a constant worry . Is this a warranty item covered by gmc ? if not what is the cost to repair and will gmc help with the cost ?

In my 2011 gmc acadia slt1 the headlights specifically the low beams are very dim regardless of the bulb because i have tried all from the lowest priced to the most expensive. While using the high beams there appears to be a shadow in the shape of mickey mouse's head in the central area of vision.

Ignition when shut off engine remains running.to get engine to shut off ignition fuse and relay have to be removed. Been ongoing issue for months. Gmc dealership can't identify what is causing

It stalls while driving. Looses power, max speed 20mph. Won't start.

While driving 70 mph, i was just about to pass a semi when the engine quit, as if i turned off the key, no power steering...nothing. I notice the "traction control" light come on for a second. I pulled to the side of the road. I attempted to restart and the "check engine" light would just flash yet the engine was not turning over. The vehicle was towed to gmc dealer and preliminary reports (incomplete) was it was computer/electrical related. I also noticed the rear lift gate would not open (although this has happened once before two years ago and gmc dealer found "fretting at the lgcm terminals." possibility related, my wife told me only the passenger door window would roll down a few days before but only happened one time. She said she turned off the car and restarted a few minutes later all windows rolled down fine...just another electrical issue with this vehicle.this vehicle also has been having radio issues for years. 1/2 of the radio screen randomly disappears (left). Tapping it sometimes helps and sometimes is flickers wildly on and off. Gmc dealer told us the radio needs replacing...like that's going to happen.

My 2011 gmc acadia suddenly drained the battery, i tried to start it and didn't work, the battery was dead, so i replaced the battery with a new one, the next day the new battery was drained like the old one, so i took the battery back to autozone, they checked the battery and was nothing wrong with it, they also checked the vehicle for any possible problems and the diagnostic didn't show any problems, so theyreplaced the battery again with a new one,... So i had the new battery installed on my vehicle and went home, the next morning when i tried to start the vehicle the battery was dead, i went online and found forums talking about the same problem, i bought this vehicle for my wife and she got very dissapointed for having this issues with the vehicle, it's the first time that we purchased a gmc, we had always bought ford vehicles, i called gmc and they don't have any reports with this type of problems but there is a lot of comments on internet from people suffering the same situation, .....i don't know what to do, and can't keep changing the battery everyday to be able to use my vehicle.

This all began at about 75000 miles. It first started with the stabilization/traction light coming on while driving once this happened you could not accelerate the car. I once was on a highway in the middle lane when it happened i could not accelerate and had to try to get over to the break down lane. This happened several times but then turned into a completely different problem. While driving the battery would start to die with no warning. When this happens you can not jump the car you have to bring the battery to be charged on a charger. Although the car won't start the other things like lights, radio, etc will still work. This happened several times but once the weather was warm it ran perfect for 4 months. The first day it was extremely cold the battery died while driving. I also had a headlight go out on the drivers side and about 3 weeks later it came back on and stayed on. I have brought it to several places but nobody has been able to figure out the problem. I can't keep spending money to get it diagnosed with no results. After researching online it seems to be a very common problem in the acadia.

Daytime running light housing and wiring melted. Dealer refuses to fix and wants $1000 to repair what is now a known issue with the design. This is a fire hazard and will reoccur after replacement.

Colonial dr, orlando, fl 32817), and informed them of the failure. The contact was informed that a fee would be assessed for a diagnostic test to be performed. I have a 2011 gmc acadia slt. My car is equipped xenon high intensity discharge (hid tvd) low beams lamps. Both passenger and drivers side low beam light sockets have melted inside each head light assembly. The low beam lamp connectors and portions of each wiring harness have melted from the intense heat of the hid lamp. I contacted gmc customer assistance center to see if a recall has been initiated. No recall.i was given a case number and the contact information for my local customer experience manager.i was encouraged to schedule an appointment at the dealership so my light issue could be looked into by a gmc maintenance team. I was encouraged to resolve my lighting issue with my customer experience manager.

The contact owns a 2011 gmc acadia. While attempting to turn the vehicle off, the gear shifter would not shift into the park position. As a result, the ignition key could not be removed from the ignition, causing the engine to keep running. The failure was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The local dealer (bill crispin chevrolet, 7112 e michigan ave, saline, mi) was notified, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 48,197.

I was driving my 2011 gmc acadia and all of a sudden the car started to decelerate. I pulled over and turn the car off and then the car would not start again. I had it towed to the dealership. The dealership is saying there is an issue with the timing chain. The dealership said that the timing chain failed. Upon doing research, i see that this is a common issue with gmc models, especially the acadia model. The dealership is saying that the repair is going to cost me $7500. Given that this is well-known issue with the acadia model, i feel that this issue should be recalled for the safety of consumers.

I purchased this vehicle about a year and a half ago and have been having problems starting the car every time that i put gas. The dealership that i purchased the vehicle from stated that the vehicle only had one previous owner but refused to give me a carfax report. They stated that they did a full vehicle inspection, and stated there were no defects, but no inspection report was in the car what so ever. I am ready to file an arbitration complaint if this situation doesn't get resolved because i am still making monthly payments on the loan.

I noticed the passenger side drl was not functioning properly- it was out.i subsequently checked the passenger side headlight and found it was working intermittently as was the passenger side drl.the vehicle was taken to the dealer for further inspection.the inspection of the malfunctioning drl determined the housing had overheated and some of the wiring and the reflector for the drl were melted due to apparent overheating.as a result of the overheating, the entire headlamp assembly had to be replaced.given the apparent heat build up in the headlamp assembly, this is a possible fire hazard.additionally, given the intermittent operation of the headlamp adjacent to the drl this could be a safety hazard if both headlamps were to fail simultaneously while traversing a very dark country road at night.a review of the internet indicated this is an ongoing problem with this vehicle dating back to 2007.

The day time running light has failed and melted the headlight housing.

The drivers side electrical components go haywire on occasion. It happens when driving, or stationary. Happens in all conditions. Sometimes i can't move my seat, roll the windows up or down, or unlock the doors using the drivers side controls. Additionally, the passenger side window will not roll down a majority of the time. The radio also, switches itself from radio to saying there is an ac adapter plugged in so it wont play music, when there is no adapter to input music plugged in. The guard over the seat controls came unhooked about a month after purchase without anyone touching it. I have reattached it back into place numerous times, it doesn't stay. I called dealer and he was confident there would be a recall soon to cover it. Has been almost 3 years and my warranty has already been up, and the recall that was "sure to cover it" has not happened yet.

The car it's equipped with a power liftgate and gas struts that hold the power lift gate when the rear trunk gate is opened, in my car the struts close prematurely an the open liftgate suddenly closes and causing injury

The contact owns a 2011 gmc acadia. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start without warning. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact mentioned that the failure recurred multiple times. The contact, a mechanic, found no issues with the battery. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 140,000.

As i was approaching a red light, i pressed on my breaks and heard a grinding noise coming from the driver side front tire. My car would not accelerate much, i pushed on the brakes and then the gas and started to move.as i was driving i felt the car pulling.i noticed the abs traction control off, all wheel drive off, and stabilitrack lights all came on.i called the local gmc dealership service center.now just waiting to hear back from them.

While driving a message appeared : "traction control off" , then "service stabilitrak".very soon after (a minute or two later) - a message "reduced engine power" appeared. The car was still running, but would not go above approximately 2k rpm's.luckily we were on a slow road, so we were able to pull off and there were no high speed cars behind us.shutting the car off, waiting a few minutes then turning it back on appeared to clear the issue. The traction control showed as off when it first stated up, but then it showed 'traction control on" as it strated to drive. It looks like there are a lot of reports of this on the internet.

My power steering has become increasingly loud and difficult to handle over the last couple of months. In researching this problem, i have noticed numerous similar problems other individuals with this type of vehicle have had. I am not understanding why there have not been any recalls to correct this problem if it is a common problem with the acadia. Recently, approximately a week ago, i have noticed that my "stabilitrack" is off and my vehicle tells me to "service brake system" and is not becoming difficult to stop and shakes quite a bit when doing so. I travel from home to town and often have to travel on the interstate with multiple cars traveling in the same direction as myself in close vicinity. The power steering problem is roughly $1300 to fix and the brake system is roughly $800 to fix. Why are there not recalls on these problems if it is so common? gmc needs to be held responsible for creating poorly made vehicles that cost a ridiculous amount of money only for people to have to spend more money on to fix and my mileage is only 72,000 miles...these problems need to be investigated immediately before an accident happens, lives lost, and gmc sued.

Stability control of light on

While driving this morning i had a series of messages appear : "traction control off" , then "service stabilitrak" and then very soon after "reduced engine power". The car would still run, but would not go above approximately 20mph and struggled to maintain speed.at one point had to pull over and turn engine off to almost "reset" car to be able to continue driving to destination.this is the third time that this has happened and have had to take to the shop.i have small children that are typically in the vehicle when this happens and am concerned for their safety if this issue cannot be resolved.

Isaw an error message on the dashboard that read "service traction control", then it read "traction control off" and then the last thing that read was "engine power is reduced". That's when my car dropped from going 55 mphto 20 mph and i could not accelerate. I pulled off the road a few minutes then back onto road but had no power. I pulled over and called a tow truck and had it towed to shop.they replaced accelerator pedal assembly. Cost me $259.84.

While driving on interstate 17w going to deposit, ny, i suddenly saw an error message on the dashboard that read "service traction control", then it read "traction control off" and then the last thing that read was "engine power is reduced".that's when my car dropped from going 60 mph on cruise control to 20 mph and i could not accelerate.thankfully, i was already in the right lane and was able to pull onto the shoulder.at that point, i turned off the vehicle and waited, thinking that the error message would go away and it's just a computer glitch, as this is common with this model vehicle.i started the vehicle again and it had full power but the error message to "service traction control" was still on and alternating between that message and "traction control off".this incident occurred three separate times on the same day along the same highway and at one of the times, there was a large vehicle behind me and thankfully, the driver was able to quickly move to the next lane because i the engine reduced power and i could not accelerate.i put my hazard lights on each time it happened.thank god my children were not in the car with me when this happened.i have had many difficulties with this vehicle since it was first leased in 2011.i think that all the gmc acadias should be recalled as it poses such a tremendous danger to motorists.

The contact owns a 2011 gmc acadia. The contact stated that the vehicle had drastically reduced speed with no warning. Various warning lights flashed on the instrument panel, the service traction control light, the service stability traction control light and then the engine reduced speed warning indicator as the vehicle drastically reduced speed to less than 15 mph. The contact had to coast the vehicle over to the side of the road. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic for further inspection and diagnosis. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 55,675.

Stabilitrak always reports off andbrake warningalways displays on dashboard, while on or running. Had it looked at by 4 mechanics. Breaks are fine. Engine wont start after everytime i pump gas. I have to pump accelerator sevral times for engine to start. Had it looked at again. Problem is ongoing. Also, slowed down on one occasion while driving on the hwy. Had to pull over since accelerator would not function. After 30mins or so. Was able to restart.

While driving this morning this message appeared : "traction control off" , then "service stabilitrak". Very soon after message "reduced engine power" appeared. The car was still running, but would not go above approximately 2k rpm's or 15mph. This is the second time that this has happened and have had to take to shop and have throtle body inspected and recalibrated. This is my wifes car and i have a small child that was in car when this happened. This happened in an area that is heavily traveled to include school buses.

Takata recall upon shift into drive gear shifts but read partially in park which makes vehicle stall in drive! computer states traction is off! button for tran toon does nothing! warning service stabilitytrak! car was parked overnight next day upon getting ready to leave i experienced the above!

It stalls while driving. Looses power, max speed 20mph. Won't start.

Can started to smoke. Panel stated reduce engine. Couldn't go over 20mph. Car broke down with two kids in car.

While driving at speeds ranging from 30 mph to 60 mph, the engine begins to miss, especially uphill.the vehicle begins to shake terribly.when i contacted the dealership regarding the issue, i was asked if the check engine light was on.it was not but the dealership had me bring it in anyway.this vehicle has been in the shop three or four times now.i have paid to have the fuel system cleaned as well as the spark plugs and plug coils replaced.these are expensive processes not covered by extended warranties.in the end, i have been told by the dealership that unless a check engine light comes on to 'map' the problem, they can't help me.

While slowing down to make a left turn, my engine turned off and would not restart. Up until that point the engine was running fine.i was fortunate that i was on a secondary road making a left turn at a slow speed when the engine stopped.however, had this happened 10 minutes earlier i would have been atop a very high bridge and would have been traveling at about 65 miles per hour which is the posted speed for i-295. Had the engine stopped running on this bridge i have no doubt that there would have been serious consequences. My vehicle could have gone over the railing and plunged 300+ feet down into the river.or possibly other vehicle traffic could have crashed into me causing untold damage and injury or possibly someone's death. Fortunately i was in a safer area when the vehicle stopped running.i had my vehicle towed and the engine control module repaired at my dealer. My complaint is that this should not be happening.engines should not simply turn off and stop running because of some electronic control part. This is a hazardous situation and i'm sure that other people are probably experiencing similar situations.i don't believe this is something unique to my vehicle, but all newer and late model vehicles.it is dangerous to think that the auto industry has employed such a dangerous engineering and device that could cause the death of someone. I appreciate your help reviewing this situation for all the people.

The 2011 gmc acadia vehicle at 38k miles suffered a major leak in the cooling system.per nhtsa id number 10052213& pb-13079, the fix did not stop the coolant leakage around the water pump seal. With the vehicle at 38k miles the dealer tested and charged for the replacement of the water pump. This should not have happened with this low mileage. The manufacturers safety issue in my part was unsatisfactory do to the replacement of the defective part not under warrenty.

I was driving down the road with almost 1/2 a tank of gas, and i lost power suddenly, and had no control over my vehicle because the power steering and everything quit.because i am fairly strong, i was actually able to turn off the road into a safe place, and not be stranded on a very busy two lane road.after having the car towed to paul's automotive garage, i was advised that the vehicle was out of gas.

Ses light came on, trac control light came on/ vehicle lost power. Traveling southbound on state route 83 near wooster, ohio two lane highway with nearly no pull offs. Lost power going up hill. Went from 55mph to barely 20 mph within seconds.

The contact owns a 2011 gmc acadia. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the coolant sensor was replaced however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was diagnosed by two additional unknown mechanics but not repaired. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 145,000.

Driving vehicle, temp gauge got over 240 degrees stopped and found water pouring out of from the front of the engine.after further inspection found the water pump to be leaking badly.

Had to replace transmission. I waa sowing down to come to a stop and the car shuts off in the road while i am turning into a drive way. After getting a new gmc transmission,my speedometer is moving back and forth again. The vehicle shutters while in park. These are some of the same signs from last time.

The contact owns a 2011 gmc acadia. The contact stated that while driving approximately 70 mph, the vehicle stalled and the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the motor needed to be replaced. On a separate occasion, the vehicle was taken to the dealer for the same failure and was diagnosed that the fuel injector needed to be replaced. Also, the technician mentioned that the ecm needed to be updated. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 13,000 and the current mileage was 40,000.

Takata recalltraction contro,l service stabilitrak, engine speed reduced light turned on in my2011 gmc acadia. Wouldn't go no faster then 15mph on a 55 mph road and the engine got really loud and rough. Was going 40 when the lights all came on driving down the road. This is very dangerous to drive when it keeps doing this. I'm scared to drive it now. Specially when i have a baby in the vehical with me. I'm not sure what causes it to do this. Some people say it's a glitch in the main vehicle computer, read it's a glitch in several different vehicals. This is something that seriously needs to berecalled anddiagnosed and fixed immediately!

Service stabilitrak, and the engine power low warning lamps illuminated followed by the vehicle slowing to 20 mph.vehicle taken to the repair facility where the technician diagnosed that the throttle body was defective and needed to be replaced. This same incident occurred several times previously.engine reverting to low power is a hazard and safety issue.

The contact owns a 2011 gmc acadia. The contact stated that the front of the vehicle caught on fire as it tried to enter the interstate from a ramp. The contact and her passenger quickly exited the vehicle after she pulled off to the shoulder. The complete front of the vehicle was destroyed by the fire. A police report was filed and the contact was the only one transported to the emergency room and was given a cat scan. There were no other injuries .the contact had not spoken to the dealer or manufacturer since the incident occurred back in 10/2019. The contact just received her vin from the insurance company since the fire destroyed all traces of the vin on the vehicle. The insurance company did not total the vehicle since it only had liability coverage. The failure mileage was 125,000.

While the car was being driven, it was noted that the power steering system became very hard to steer while driving on a side street.the car was stopped and the engine was turned off.when the engine went to be restarted, the engine would not restart.the car was towed, and was noted after investigation by the gmc dealer that the engine had a catastrophic failure with approx. 120,000 miles. It was fortunate this occurred on a side street with no traffic verses on a highway.also it should be noted that the engine timing chain had to be replaced about 6 months ago due to being stretched.

While driving this morning this message appeared : "traction control off" , then "service stabilitrak". Very soon after message "reduced engine power" appeared. The car was still running, but would not go above approximately 2k rpm's or 15mph. My 2011 gmc acadia would not start one morning. We put a battery charger on it. It started but has a pinging sound. We checked the oil. The oil was reading low. We added 3 qts of oil. We had auto repair shop change oil and install new battery. I still noticed the pinging sound. That evening, as i was driving the engine started making terrible sounds and loosing power. I stopped driving and had it towed to dealer. They said the engine was blown. I had no warning lights come on at all. The dealer is telling me it is most likely the timing chain. The acadia is only 5 yrs old with 116k miles. This should not be happening to this new of car. I have spoken to several mechanics and they all say this is a known issue with the acadia and this should be a recall or warranty issue.equally frustrating, i bought a warranty that i was told was an "extended warranty" that i thought would lover it now i'm being told the warranty was from the date of purchase which is not what the salesmen told me when i bought it. I feel totally taken advantage of as a women.

It has happen to me when my vehicle is in motion and when i go above 65 miles ph. My son in law was driving, i was in passenger seat, all of a sudden engine raced, tack needle went very high and vehicle began slowing down all at the same time. Son in law remove foot from gas peddle and vehicle acted normal.this has happen to me approximately 20 times prior to this. Two or three times i took it to dealer who stated the computer didn't 'register' anything.it has happened on interstate when i attempt to pass 18 wheeler in heavy traffic, very scary.

The car has 77,000 miles and had to replace the timing chain and all components involved. The service manager said they had recalls on 2007-2009 vehicles buit had since fixed the problem but apparently not. I had my machanic fix this the cost was $1636.00 which was way cheaper than the dealer. I think that gmc should resolve this problem as i heard this is a common problem still.

Motor stops running while in movement in gears of forward and reverse. Driver has no control of the car. Steering works but no breaks or power to power train. Motor just shuts down with out any notice. This happens while in movement on public roads, freeways and while parking.

When traveling at about 35 mph, all systems failed -- steering, braking, electrical. The dealer indicates that this is a "catastrophic engine failure."

While driving this morning i had a series of messages appear : "traction control off" , then "service stabilitrak" and then very soon after "reduced engine power". My vehicle has 136,000 miles and the timing chain is out, i have had to have the front passenger axle repaired, there is an oil leak. I had the vehicle checked while under warranty because the check engine light would come on, the service department said it was because the gas cap wasn't tightened. Now i have no warranty and the timing chain needs replaced. The first day i drove my vehicle the brake system failed, it was brand new.it had had several recalls.

Accordingly, the said vehicle first manifested a dangerous defect issue on july 14, 2021, while traveling out of town. A significant and abrupt reduction of power completely disabled the vehicle while parking in a parking space .despite several attempts, the vehicle still fail to start. Only to notice the engine light illuminating and flashing repeatedly. At the same time the dashboard indicated a faulty reading of fuel and oil. This is a very serious and frightened situation because i received absolutely no warning before the vehicle shut down. Without reason of doubt, i do believe it is unsafe, extremely dangerous and is potentially a hazardous situation that should be investigated. Fortunately, i was in a parking lot went the problem occurred. Whereas, if the vehicle engine stopped abruptly in the mist of traffic it could have resulted with a different outcome.on july 16th the vehicle was towed to a certified gmc dealership for further inspection. Hours later, i received the service contract and a follow up call from the dealership given that the diagnostic is the engine control module (ecm) and needs to be replaced. Surprisingly,to my dismay i was advised that general motors no longer make the part and the service center is not sure when and if the part will be available.as of today, july 26th, no one has taken the necessary steps to remediate my situation. I have already attempted to resolve this problem by contacting the manufacturer directly.yet, no information on when a resolution will be made. I have been a loyal customer for several years and currently seeking answers.

The contact owns a 2011 gmc acadia. The contact stated that the passenger side running lights malfunctioned and the vehicle was taken to the dealer. The contact was informed that the headlight assembly melted and cracked, which causing the running light to malfunction. The light bulbs were replaced but the same failure recurred on the driver side light assembly. While driving in the rain, the vehicle suddenly began to hydroplane and the traction control light and check engine light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that water was present inside the engine and the number five coil was damaged. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 32,000. ...updated 05/14/15

I took our 2011 gmc acadia, mileage 80,637, to the dealership on 12/16/2017 because the display showed "service air bag."the service technician reported that he found dtc b0022 and b0015 stored in sdm, tested circuits, good. He found excessive resistance in both front seat belt anchor pretensions and recommended replacement of both front anchor pretensioners, cpa connectors with leads and reprogram the sdm.repair estimate of $1,164.51.charged $125 to diagnose.it was explained to me that the pretensioners are connected to and communicate with the air bag.in addition, the service technician found the front engine mount weak.repair estimate of $447.85.the seat belt pretensioners and "service air bag" appear to be significant safety issues.i contacted gmc on 04/23/2018 to request repair assistance and to inquire if there was a recall, case # 8-4111443314.i was advised that i would have to pay out of pocket.

The car would not speed up. I was driving on a heavily trafficked road (pendleton pike) in indianapolis, in. After passing sunnyside road, it went from 40 mph to 25 mph in a matter of seconds. I hit the accelerator multiple times, but it would not speed up. I turned my hazard lights on. I panicked! i was barely able to pull into a starbucks parking lot and shut the car off. I waited ten seconds exactly, and then turned it back on. It was fine after that procedure.

Was driving my car. Got off i-79 to get gas. Got back in my car and it wouldn't start. Had to get a jump. It started. Started driving (about 4 miles) all of a sudden it started making a noise from the motor. It never gave me a warning, no noise or anything before this. It ran perfectly. I'm so disgusted. They're saying almost $5000.00 with parts and labor with a used motor. The bearing spun, the roller rocker broke offtiming chain, and something else. Hmm a used motor. You do know a used motor will fall into that category again!!i took it to the mechanic where it still sits.i upkept the oil before it was due. It has 138,706 miles i never had any problems with this car at all .gm i hope you do us right because we stood by you and trusted you!

On july 27 at 400 pm i arrived home and my daughter went to take out the trash and i heard her scream daddy the car is on fire. I rushed outside and flames were 6 ft tall i called 911. After putting the fire out he stated th car was running doors locked so they couldnā€™t open the hood

I have had this 2011 arcadia for less then a month. The dealer i bought it from assured me that the only issue it had was it needed a new a/c condenser. ( permanent codes, p0008, p0332, p0017 ) (pending codes p0161, p0332, p0017 )( stored codes, p0332, p0008 ) severe urgency replace timing chains and related components, t chain x1 t chain x1 t chain x2 timing tensioner x1 x1 x1 x1. I havent even been able to drive it and the sold me the car on false pretenses. They wont help me with fixing it, they wont even fix the a/c condenser. Im going through a divorce and i put the only money i had into this car. I dont know what to do.

I'm the 2nd owner and so far i've had to have a motor mount & 2 catalytic converters replaced. The ac started having issues with the controls not working & then the ac completely broke and leaked all the refrigerant which made a huge mess. There's a horrible oil leak that can't seem to be stopped. The brake pedel makes a loud squeaking noise. And now there is some strange noise coming from behind the dash, uncertain if it's the radio, cd player or ac/heat. All these problems at under 80,000 miles!!!

The contact owns a 2011 gmc acadia. While driving various speeds, the vehicle stalled and several warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. After pulling over and attempting to restart the vehicle, the vehicle restarted on the initial attempt. The failure occurred intermittently on several occasions. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 10,000.

The contact owns a 2011 gmc acadia. While attempting to start the vehicle, the engine stalled. The failure occurred several times. The vehicle was taken to an unknown dealer where it was diagnosed that the engine cylinder head failed. The contact stated that oil penetrated the cylinder head, spark plug tube, and timing chain, which caused the engine to fail. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 95,000.

At 86,000 miles, the engine needed to be replaced. Despite our regular maintenance and oil changes, the vehicle began to make a loud ticking sound. We immediately pulled into the nearest auto shop. We had two mechanics (had car towed for second opinion) say that the engine needed to be replaced.

I was complaining about the performance of this vehicle to the dealer for the past three years. Now that the warranty is expired, i had to change the driveshaft, fell out while transporting passengers; transfer case, the transition from drive, the automatic shift would jerk; a passenger i had in the car told me one day i would not make it up a hill. One week later it happened. Transmission, the vehicle wouldn't move even when gas was applied; 6 coils and plugs, the bad smell of something burning was scary. I had to pull off the road because the reduce power light come on. Yesterday, 12/26/16, i went through this again!!!there is a rubbing sound in one of my wheels, don't know what that is yet. I also changed the axels and about to change the tie rods for a clunking noise while making turns on uneven surfaces. I made numerous complaints to gmc hq and the dealer here in the vi from 2013. The dealer changed parts that were irrelevant and told me it was fixed.

The contact owns 2011 gmc acadia.the contact stated that while driving approximately 30 mph, the stalled without warning.the vehicle was maneuvered to the side of the road and was restarted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired.the manufacturer was not notified of the failure.the approximate failure mileage was 43,595.updated 09/02/14*ljupdated 09/11/14

Air condition not working, light on control blinks 3 times and goes out. Could be evaporater coor. Known problem with this model. Why is this not covered under warranty.

My car skips as if the engine is not getting enough gas. I will be driving along and the acadia will shake and do a little skip jump. It does this at least a couple of times a week. I also have to constantly add oil to the truck even when i am 1000 miles out from my next oil change.

Over the past month and a half i have been noticing that when i attempt to push the gas to make my car go faster that it doesn't accelerate.it is usually when my vehicle is already in motion and i attempt to go faster.i can hear it making a noise like it's trying to go faster but there is definitely a delay before the vehicle actually starts to go faster.usually i am on a normal streets going anywhere from 35-55 mph (depending on the street and post speed limit), so it's not always a huge deal when it happens.i do a lot of highway driving and this is where my concern comes into play.a few weeks ago i was merging onto 696.there was more then enough room in the first lane for me to safely merge into traffic, however, when attempting to accelerate my vehicle it would not go above 35mph for a good 30 seconds and a car that was in the right lane probably going at least 70mph almost rear ended me.there was another instance when i was merging onto the vandyke expressway where the posted speed is 70mph and the exact same thing happened.trying to merge into traffic with a post speed of 70mph and my vehicle not going above 35mph is not safe.my vehicle was recently in the shop because my air compressor literally melted and started smoking as i was driving my car. When it was in the shop this problem was mentioned to them and we were told "the problem would be like finding a needle in a haystack"the air compressor was fixed along with the current air bag recall, however, this acceleration issue was not addressed whatsoever.to me this is the most pressing issue and should have taken priority.i should be able to know that when i am merging onto a highway with fast moving traffic that my car is going to accelerate and not potentially cause a major accident.

Air conditioner/compressor has failed and the unit is leaking freon inside the car cabin when air conditioning or vents are open. There is also a hissing sound and exhaust coming from the compressor, which was proceeded by a burning smell when the unit initially failed. After doing some research, it appears that this is an on-going issue for people who own this particular make and model of car - there are dozens of people documenting this issue online, but gmc refuses to acknowledge that there is a problem. We contacted the dealer and were informed that not only would we have to pay for the exploration of the problem, which results in the costly removal of the dashboard, we would also need to pay to fix it even though there is less than 40,000 miles on the car and it is barely 2 years old. We have had to shut the vents and forgo using the ventilation when driving because the leaking freon causes passengers to become light-headed and develop a headache. When the weather is hot, you nearly suffer from heat exhaustion while driving. Additionally, the heating has also failed at this point, rendering the system useless.

The contact owns a 2011 gmc acadia. While driving at 55 mph, the contact noticed fluid leaking out of the air vents. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the air conditioner line between the compressor and the condenser needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 75,000.

In my 2011 gmc acadia slt1 the headlights specifically the low beams are very dim regardless of the bulb because i have tried all from the lowest priced to the most expensive. While using the high beams there appears to be a shadow in the shape of mickey mouse's head in the central area of vision.

Headlight bulb and assembly system completely melted! went to replace the bulbs that i thought were just blown out but the bulbs exploded and melted everything. Took it to the local dealership to fix and they said it would cost $2500.00 to fix in ordering new assembly. They said they have seen this happen on acadias before. I went online and sure enough melted headlights and wiring were a common problem. When i called the headquarters customer service line to ask if a recall had been issued a foreign gentleman wrote down my information and said someone will get back with you but there should be no reason it melted unless someone or something happened to it. I've never been in a wreck ever. I asked the guy what it would take to get this fixed me or one of my kids dying in a wreck and is suing you to make sure we have a safe vehicle. I told him i didn't appreciate his i don't care attitude towards my feelings of having small children in a car that has a part that is common and known to melt and not get fixed.

The daytime lights, the bulb has melted itself into the socket.you cannot just replace the bulb, you have to replace the socket also.this has happened on the right and left side.i did not know there was a problem with the bulbs being too hot until i was going to replace a burned out bulb.the i realized thebulb had melted into the socket.this tends to be a problem for the gmc acadia and should have a recall on it to correct the issue.

We bought this car in feb. 2016 used with only 66,000 miles.about 2 months after we purchased it, the passenger low beam light went out.i purchased a bulb to replace, but it proved to be difficult. I had 3 open recalls so i brought car in to dealer.the night before bringing it in, driver low beam light went out.i asked dealer to replace bulbs while vehicle was there. Received a phone call from the dealer that the bulbs could not be replaced because headlight housing was melted!!!!this seems to be a recurring problem with acadias and a recall should be issued!!!!

I own a 2011 gmc acadia denali. I placed my order for this vehicle before they were in production which make this one of the first to roll off the assembly line.the driver's side daytime running light bulb needed replacing. I took my vehicle to the local dealer for repair. I was told that the daytime running light bulb socket had melted and the whole headlight assembly needed to be replaced.when you look through the lens of the daytime running lights you can see about a three inch area of chrome coating cracked and peeling off the interior of the light housing on the driver?s side and about an inch and a half area on the passenger side.it is just a matter of time before the passenger side socket melts. This is definitely a manufacturer?s design problem or inappropriate parts problem. Either the bulb is too high wattage, which give off too much heat, or the chrome coating is not heat resistant enough to withstand the heat. I say this because i have a background in electronics.i was told that i would have to pay $1144.00 for the headlight assembly plus labor. I do not think i should have to pay for something that was caused by the manufacturer?s design or inappropriate parts installed during the production of these vehicles.i feel it is appropriate for gmc to replace these light fixtures at no cost to the vehicle owner.i have routinely taken my vehicle in for maintenance and no one has ever mentioned there was a problem with the daytime running lights. I recently had a safety inspection done on my vehicle and a few days later i noticed the driver's side daytime running light bulb needed replacing.i have gone online and found numerous complaint about this problem with these daytime running lights. This is not an isolated situation.

Daytime running lights have overheated on both sides and have melted the plastic housing. The lights are extremely hot in a confined space and are in very close proximity to a flammable material. I noticed smoke coming out of the headlight and saw that it has melted the housing to the point where the bulb is now sitting directly on the melted plastic housing. These are the running lights....not the main headlights.

Passenger side daytime running light stopped working. Took to dealer and bulb was replaced. Within a few months, bulb was out again. Returned to dealer in june 2013 and discovered part of the fixture wiring had melted. Dealer repaired under extended warranty. The same day we picked it up, the driver side daytime running light went out. Returned to dealer on june 21, 2013 and discovered melted wiring again. We have gone through three bulbs and had to replace the melted wiring components on both daytime running lights. Also have an unsolved issue of high beams working off and on. There is definitely a serious wiring/electrical problem that needs to be investigated. This could pose a potentially serious fire hazard. There is no way this is not some type of manufacturing defect!

We just bought a 2011 acadia denali at the end of august 2014. We took it to the dealer for two recalls and asked them to fix the burnt out daytime running light on the driver side. The dealer said they could not replace the bulb by itself but needed to replace the entire headlamp assembly. They said it was due to the housing and connectors being melted. The dealer also looked at the passenger side and said it was melted there as well, potentially from the heat of the bulb. We were quoted a price close to $2000 for the fix.the end result is we still have a burnt out running light. I would assume this would be a recall due to the risk of fire created by the extreme heat which is melting the headlamp housing. Unfortunately, it is not a recall at this time. I have looked online and have come across a lot of people that have the same issue. Definite safety hazard.

My 2011 gmc acadia denali had a drl go out.it was taken to the dealership and a new bulb was replaced.they informed me it still did not work with just a new bulb.the acadia was then taken back to the dealership and was looked at again and they were able to fix the light and get it running.i got home a week later and noticed the passenger side bulb was now out.as i looked into the housing i can see the headlight housing was slightly melted and becoming severely cracked where the bulb is no longer being secured by the light.after seeing that i proceeded to look at the original light that was out and that housing was the same with a large piece of the chrome light housing missing, and again the light was just hanging inside the headlight and not secured to the housing.looking at this thread and other forums, this is a big problem with gmc acadia's.i have not taken the car back to the dealership but certainly if this is happening like this it was a poor design by gm and should be repaired by the dealership at no cost.i hope enough people bring this up as a fire hazard, to make it become a company recall.

The daytime lights, the bulbs keep burning out. I have replaced both the left and right side lo beam lights 4 ttime now. This tends to be a problem for the gmc acadia and should have a recall on it to correct the issue.many appear to have the actual sockets melted i have not experience that but within the lat 12 months i have replaced the lo beam lights 4 times this should be investigated as this time they both went out within the same drive and i was left with only hi beam but luckily i was close to home.

I noticed headlight wasn't working and went to auto parts store to replace bulb. Attendant looked at it and said plastic assembly holding headlight bulb was melted and discolored as if the bulb was overheated.. We worried that it could have caught on fire so took it to sandoval gmc where we purchased the vehicle new. Left it to have replaced and they called and said the other headlamp assembly has melted as well. Both would need to be replaced to insure no danger of fire. The quote to replace $1,917.01 yes that's right one thousand nine hundred dollars and one cent. They said they would try to get a better price and they did. When we picked up the car they took an "insurance" discount off in the amount of $1,150.20. Still our cost of $824.32 was beyond belief.if this happened to two of two oem parts think how many are on the road. Do i hear "recall"?

Daytime running light housing and wiring melted. Dealer refuses to fix and wants $1000 to repair what is now a known issue with the design. This is a fire hazard and will reoccur after replacement.

The contact owns a 2011 gmc acadia. While pulling into the driveway, the contact noticed that the driver side headlight failed and the passenger side headlight melted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that both headlight assemblies needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 119,000. The vin was unknown.

The contact owns a 2011 gmc acadia. The contact stated that the day time running lights had failed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection and they stated that the bulb had gotten too hot and melted the casing, light bulb, and housing unit. The components needed to be replaced for both head lights. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 20,000.

The daytime running lamp on the driver side completely melted and began melting the surrounding casing. The other daytime running lamp is beginning to do the same thing. Possible fire hazard. These are the original lamps when i purchased the vehicle new.

The contact owns a 2011 gmc acadia. The contact stated that the headlights on the vehicle were cracked and the daytime running lamps overheated and malfunctioned. The dealer recommended that the headlights and daytime running lamps be replaced. The vehicle was repaired and the manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 52,000.

The contact owns a 2011 gmc acadia. While the vehicle was being serviced by the dealer, it was discovered that the light bulb melted inside the head lamp. The contact stated that the dealer was unable to remove the light bulb because the bulb melted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 48,000.

Head light mounts have melted due to heat from the daytime headlight bulbs. Now i cannot maintain functioning daytime running lights. Bulbs burn out in just a few days use. Gm claims this is not a safety issue and therefore will not replace the headlight units.

My interior dome lights either flicker or don't come on at all there are 3 sets and none of the work properly at any time.

The contact owns a 2011 gmc acadia. The contact noticed that the front passenger side headlight had burned out. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and was repaired; however, the failure recurred on the driver side approximately two weeks later. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and was diagnosed that the headlight housing melted and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 48,000.

Headlight connector was overheating and melted.

The contact owns a 2011 gmc acadia. The contact stated that the front driver's side head light failed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection where they stated that the head light assembly had overheated, melted and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 92,000.

Daytime running lights keep burning out. They have been replaced 8 times in 35316 miles (current mileage on vehicle).the internet has many people stating the same problem with melted wiring harness, melted housing and more.i have been in contact with gm and they refuse to recognize it as an issue.this is safety equipment and constant failure is not a safe condition.

The contact owns a 2011 gmc acadia. The contact stated that the daytime running lights failed. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

The day time running light has failed and melted the headlight housing.

Daytime running lights bulb melting, both left and right side, resulting in burning of headlight housing. Bulb can no longer be held in place because mounting fixture is melted away. The existing bulbs are made of plastic. I believe the filament is overheating the plastic bulb and causing a potential fire hazard.

I have a 2011 gmc acadia.i purchased this vehicle used in late 2013.this is the 6th time i have needed to replace my lowbeams. Last night heading home from work around dusk i was driving down the highway and someone pulled out in front of me and i had to swerve to avoid hitting him. I lost drivers side two days ago and lost the passengers headlight as i started up my vehicle leaving work.it was apparent that he did not see my vehicle as all the other vehicles had their lights on.this is clearly a design issue that if allowed to continue significantly increases the risk of an accident which puts my family in danger. Please address this increased risk to my family and other families that are on the road with these vehicles.

We purchased our vehicle in june of 2014.we have had to replace the driver's side headlight 4 times since we purchased the vehicle.since the tire needs to be removed and the wheel well cover needs to be removed in order to change the light, we have to pay $80 each time we change the bulb.4 times in less than two years is ridiculous.i have seen other complaints regarding overheating bulbs, so i will have that looked at next.

We bought this vehicle as a certified used vehicle on march 11, 2015. Since then i have had to replace the passenger side low beam headlamp twice and the drivers side once. I too have researched the internet and found the same issue with many of the same vehicles. The low beam headlamps are a safety item that is required to drive at night so there should be something done by gm. I would invite any of the customer care managers at gm to contact me.

I have a 2011 acadia denali with factory xenon hid lights. Both daytime running light housings and connectors have melted. The passenger side bulb has melted itself to the socket itself. The housing has melted and cracked. Both are no longer reflective or functional as daytime running lights. This is obviously a issue for all acadias. A fire is inevitable.

My passenger day time running light burnt out 9 months ago and when i had it replaced they told me the connector was a little warm and to watch it.it just burnt out again on june 3rd, and i had it replaced june 10th.they told me the connector was hot and i should have it looked at in the service center to find out why it was hot.it was burnt out june 11th, and i had a service appointment set up for june 15th.they don't know what the problem is and it will cost me hundreds of dollars just for them to look.if it is getting so hot this could be a major issue.

The contact owns a 2011 gmc acadia. The contact stated that the headlights were melted and inoperable. The vehicle was taken to starling chevrolet buick gmc (1001 e irlo bronson memorial hwy, st cloud, fl 34769) to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the headlight housings needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the headlights were previously repaired under warranty. The contact stated that he was informed on the first visit that a bracket needed to be installed to prevent future damages to the headlights. The bracket was installed however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 110,572.

My car skips as if the engine is not getting enough gas. I will be driving along and the acadia will shake and do a little skip jump. It does this at least a couple of times a week. I also have to constantly add oil to the truck even when i am 1000 miles out from my next oil change.

Crank no start after parking on an incline (drive way) when fuel level is low (~ 3-4gallons in the tank.)started when car was pushed to the street. (level).

The contact owns a 2011 gmc acadia. While driving approximately 50 mph, the vehicle stalled and failed to restart after several attempts. The vehicle was towed to a dealer for diagnostic testing and the contact was informed that the vehicle was low on fuel. The contact was unaware that the vehicle was low on fuel due to an inaccurate display on the fuel gauge. The technician stated that the fuel gauge failed and the fuel tank needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired.the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000.updated 12/17/14*lj

Fuel take indicator fluctuates not giving an accurate reading of actual gas in tank. It will read 3/4 tank and after turning off and back on again it will read on "e". We do not park on a hill we have a flat driveway/garage. This happens anywhere i go. I have almost ran out of gas numerous times because of this.

The contact owns a 2011 gmc acadia. While driving unknown speeds, the fuel gauge was not reading properly and the fuel level was floating from full to empty. The contact called a local dealer (stykemain buick gmc, 25124 eliott rd, defiance, oh 43512) and was informed that the vehicle was not included in a recall. The manufacturer was notified of the issue and referred the contact to nhtsa. The failure mileage was 87,999.

The contact owns a 2011 gmc acadia. The contact stated that air conditioning system failed to operate properly. The failure was persistent. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer (courtesy buick gmc, 7 autocenter drive, louisville, ky 40299) where it was diagnosed that the auxiliary vapor line failed and needed to be replaced. The contact was also informed that the failure occurred due to the power steering hose chafing the auxiliary hose. The vehicle was not repaired due to the repair cost. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to nhtsa. The failure mileage was approximately 11,100.

The contact owns a 2011 gmc acadia. The contact stated whenever the gear was shifted into the park position, thefour automatic doors would unlock without intent. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer four times for the similar failure and they stated that the doors operated normally.

The contact owns a 2011 gmc acadia. The contact stated that while parked, the vehicle rolled away and crashed off the side of a cliff. The contact was not injured. The vehicle was still in park when it was towed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and the contact was awaiting diagnosis. The vehicle had not been repaired. The vin was unavailable. The failure and current mileage was 45,000.

Ses light came on, trac control light came on/ vehicle lost power. Traveling southbound on state route 83 near wooster, ohio two lane highway with nearly no pull offs. Lost power going up hill. Went from 55mph to barely 20 mph within seconds.

The contact stated that while at a stop, the vehicle rolled backwards. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure recurred on numerous occasions. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 80,000.

The car shutters intermediately when driven at higher posted speed limits. From about 40/45 miles per hour up to about 60 miles an hour. The vibration shakes the entire vehicle. Letting off the gas or acceleration will stop it, but go back to a steady speed, and it returns.have kept up with service and the vehicle is in tremendous condition, but this condition is present in all weather and temperatures and seems to not have a cure. Have replaced all possible causes, including torque converter and possible sensors. Has not gone away.noted that other owners have posted similar/same complaints on the same year and make. Same complaint with sister car 2011 saturn outlook. There is aproblem with the drive train and needs to be fixed. Understand some people have found a damaged "d plate" in the transmission-but replacing the part has resulted in the part failing again and the problem returns.

When i drive the vehicle for 2 hours or more the "transmission hot idle engine" come on the dash and i have to slow down or park the vehicle for it to cool off. I can not drive at 75 mph or 80 mph when on the highway without it coming on.

Passenger side air vent not blowing all the other vents work. Dealer said it was the air door actuator. This is the 2nd time we have had our acadia in for cooling issues each time we have had to pay big bucks we do not have!!!!

The contact owns a 2011 gmc acadia. While the vehicle was at a stop light, the vehicle failed to accelerate when the accelerator pedal was depressed. The engine warning indicator illuminated intermittently. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the transmission failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was taken to rsc auto sales (located at 4427 w jefferson blvd, dallas, tx 75211, (214) 467-0270), but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 132,870.

The contact owns a 2011 gmc acadia. The contact stated that after exiting the vehicle with the engine operating, the driver slipped on an ice patch and fell. While the contact was grounded, the vehicle erroneously rolled away and over her legs. The contact sustained muscle and nerve damage to both legs. The vehicle was being repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted about the failure. The failure mileage was 34,994.

Luckily for us this time we are on flat terrain and we are able to coast into my mother?s driveway. Because it is so late we decided to just go to bed and deal with it in the morning.

I was traveling to daytona fl from ohio for vacation. The transmission started slipping and as i got off the exit for daytona the transmission went out i barely made it to my rental. I had no extra money and can not rent a car because i have no major credut card. So i had to take out a loan for 3200.00 for a1 transmission shop to rebuild the transmission.

The contact owns a 2011 gmc acadia. While on an incline with the brake pedal depressed, the vehicle slid forward. The contact attempted to brake and the vehicle continued to slide. The contact stated that the vehicle moved forward when the brake pedal was released. The contact stated that it felt as if the vehicle were in neutral. The vehicle was driven to gregg young auto center (2020 w 20th st s, newton, ia 50208, (641) 275-9706) to be diagnosed, but the remedy could not be determined. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that it was normal. The failure mileage was 90,000. The vin was invalid.

Vehicle came out of park sitting in driveway while being cleaned out. The key was not in the ignition; however the gear shift was shifted into park as someone reached over across the seat. Passenger side doors were open and as the vehicle rolled , the doors hit my pouch causing damage tothe front and rear passenger doors. My children had to jump out of the way to avoid being ran over. There is a serious defect on 2011 acadia and the results could have been deadly. I need for gmc to fix this problem. The gear shifter is not suppose to move without the key in the ignition and turned to the on position plus the brake must be push to active. So gmc what happen? i could be burying one of my children.the damage is over $2300 and i have a $500 deductible not including the cost to fix why the gear shifter was able to move. I need to be made whole ($500 deductible reimbursement and my gear shifter problem fixed).mileage at time of incident was 71,796.

On july 27 at 400 pm i arrived home and my daughter went to take out the trash and i heard her scream daddy the car is on fire. I rushed outside and flames were 6 ft tall i called 911. After putting the fire out he stated th car was running doors locked so they couldnā€™t open the hood

Transmission flares out (goes into neutral) between gears when merging into highway traffic at speeds of around 45-60 mph.most often occurs when initially accelerating to merge into faster traffic and then having to take my foot off the gas for a second or two to allow faster cars to go by, and then trying to accelerate again.the transmission is in neutral and it seems it is caught between gears (4th & 5th gears i believe) when i try to accelerate again.engine revs to 5000 to 6000 rpm range because it is not in gear. Have to take foot off of the gas and wait a couple seconds for transmission to get into gear so i can continue driving.in the meantime faster cars are approaching as i'm in the middle of merging into highway traffic.not being able to accelerate when merging into highway traffic creates a very unsafe situation.this issue has occurred 2-3 times a month for the last several years. Have had it looked at a number of times by gm service center but they are unable to reproduce the event when they test drive my vehicle and there aren't any special codes popping up in the computer log for them to justify doing anything to fix the problem.so they are not able to do anything about this condition.

The contact leased a 2011 gmc acadia. While the contact was driving between approximately 10-15 mph on the entrance ramp, the accelerator pedal was engaged, followed by a delayed response of several seconds. The failure was a continuous occurrence. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis where they informed that the transmission delayed response was a manufacturer design. The failure mileage was 30.

The contact owns a 2011 gmc acadia. The contact stated that a heavy metal noise was heard while driving in heavy traffic. The vehicle was towed to the dealer (jim ellis buick gmc atlanta, 5862 peachtree blvd, atlanta, ga 30341, (888) 472-9035) where it was diagnosed that the drive train bolt fractured. The contact stated that the vehicle was at the dealer awaiting repairs. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 125,000. The vin was not available.

The contact owns a 2011 gmc acadia. The contact was involved in a crash.the vehicle was destroyed.while driving approximately 35-45 mph, the contact stated that the left rear wheel locked without warning, causing the vehicle to roll over and crash into a ditch. The contact didn't indicate if there were any injuries or if a police report was filed.the dealer offered to have a service manager provide him with the contact information for the manufacturer.a complaint was filed with the manufacturer regarding the failure. The current and failure mileage was 7,000.updated 05/03/11*ljthe consumer also stated maybe it was the differential that locked up. Updated 05/11/11

The second row middle seatbelt locks where i am unable to expand and use it.i have been to the dealer to correct the problem three times and they claim that this problem has been corrected, and this has been a on going problem. The reason i bought the acadia is because i have a large family and i use the states in this vehicle.

The contact owns a 2011 gmc acadia. The contact stated that nhtsa campaign number: 14v266000 (seat belts) was performed however the failure was not corrected. The contact stated that the cable failed causing rubbing and cutting to the drivers and passengers side front seat belt. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 14,000.

Seat belt latch cable for middle row drivers side seat fails. Cable seems to be stretching out on regular basis. This is going to be the 2nd cable replacement since purchasing the vehicle in august 2010. Had cable replaced in july 2013 and used middle row seat approximately 6 times since then but cable stretched and latch failed again. This failure could result in serious injury in the case of a head on collision as passengers in drivers side middle row seat could be hurled forward if seat is not latched appropriately.

The contact owns a 2011 gmc acadia. The contact stated that the driver side headrest was abnormally forcing his head forward when driving and preventing him from being able to comfortable rest his shoulders back. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who stated that the vehicle was designed in that manner and could not be repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The current mileage was 1,813 and the failure mileage was approximately 1,600.

This is my car, but my husband and i tried to take a long trip in the car and my husband found that he was not a safe driver due to the uncomfortable head rest design.my husband is 6' 4" tall and the acadia head rest pushes his head forward and down at an awkward angle.this causes him to be fatigued, get a headache from holding his head at an awkward position and does not allow him to look through his glasses correctly.this is an unsafe situation for a driver during a long trip.i contacted gm to see if we could get a different head rest that would be safe and comfortable for a tall driver but they said that they couldn't help us.they did admit that my husband is not the only driver who has experienced this problem.

My wife and i were stopped waiting to make a left turn into service station, car behind me was also stopped, 3rd car back rear ended him who rear ended me. Because the head rest leans forward so much my wife upon impact began screaming then crying stating the back of her head hurt.after police arrived i took her to er than later to family doctor. Ct scan and mri both revealed she has brain concussion. Some days she spends all day in bed with bad pains in her head.

While driving on the highway, my six year old daughter exclaimed that her head was "touching the front seat" and her "feet were on the floor".when i (the driver) looked back, i saw that her seat had dislodged and ejected her into an upright position.this caused her head/face to be hitting the seat in front of her and her feet to be on the floor of the car.i had to immediately pull over on the side of the highway.i observed that the seat (cushion part - not the back) had popped up causing my daughter and her carseat to pop up as well.i could see under the seat as i was trying to position the seat into place.i noted severe rusting on the metal seat track/frame which appeared to be the cause for the seat to unhinge or unlock.it took several attempts to lock the seat back into place.this is obviously a serious safety concern and my daughter could have been severely injured, if not died if the car had been in a crash.the car seat ejected from simple driving.this could have had a tragic ending.

I had to have my steering pump replaced because of a loud whining sound. I bought this car new. Also the heating element went out in my heated seat on passenger side where it is rarely used. All repairs over $1100.

The stabilitrack keeps turning off and the service brake system message keeps coming up. After investigation, multiple makes and models are having master cylinder leaks into the brake booster. Why has this not been recalled for safety?

Stabilitrak always reports off andbrake warningalways displays on dashboard, while on or running. Had it looked at by 4 mechanics. Breaks are fine. Engine wont start after everytime i pump gas. I have to pump accelerator sevral times for engine to start. Had it looked at again. Problem is ongoing. Also, slowed down on one occasion while driving on the hwy. Had to pull over since accelerator would not function. After 30mins or so. Was able to restart.

The contact owns a 2011 gmc acadia. The contact stated that the power steering failed and vehicle made a loud abnormal noise without warning. The failure occurred on a daily basis. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the steering gear and the bushings failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 60,000.

At 89,000 the "service all wheel drive" light came on several times on dash. Mechanic states that "rear differential drum" needs to be replaced in order for vehicle's all wheel drive system to operate properly.

Steering would intermittently lock up or be very difficult to turn at low rpms.this problem has gotten significantly worse in the last year and has nearly caused several accidents. Upon researching a fix to the problem i have found multiple complaints online on all gm acadia, traverse, enclave and outlook vehicles.gm has a couple of tsb covering this issue.this is a very serious safety issue that gm has known about and done nothing other then to charge your $1500+ to fix a known steering defect.

Steering binds up and becomes very hard to turn on low rpm or sitting stationary. It feels as if no power steering at all.have been told by dealership that it is a huge safety issue that gm has failed to recall.

My power steering will intermittently stop on my when turning at low speeds. Never had any issues up on till last week when i was taking my son to school. I have no leaks so it's not due to fluid loss.

In wet / rainy conditions, power steering fails as belt gets wet and looses all traction. This has occurred multiple times at varying speeds and has twice almost resulted in accidents as we were negotiating turns. Various online auto forums highlight this as a recurring problem with the gmc acadia. Why hasn't a recall been issued for this safety issue? dealer states there is no fix.

Began hearing whining noise and thought it was in the engine or transmission. Took it to dealer and was told it was the power steering pump and rack and was not covered under power train warranty. I just had the "numerous" recalls repaired and now this. According to many posts on various websites, this is a common problem with gm products. Repairs are costly and should be covered under warranty, or should be recalled! this is ridiculous considering the cost of these vehicles.

When traveling at about 35 mph, all systems failed -- steering, braking, electrical. The dealer indicates that this is a "catastrophic engine failure."

The contact owns a 2011 gmc acadia. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 5 mph, the steering wheel seized. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the power steering pump failed and needed replacement. The vehicle remained at the dealer for repairs under an extended warranty issued by the manufacturer. The vehicle was repaired but the failure persisted daily. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 101,000.

Vehicle makes a high pitch whining noise when starting and at low speeds.steering wheel rubs when turning either direction.i complained about the noise on several occasions, service tech said was normal. Now they state that the power steering is leaking and there is a power steering gear leak.to fix it will cost $1600 plus dollars.seems to be an issue across the board with these vehicles.gmc will replace the steering pump under a recall, but not the gear rack which is a more expensive fix.how many complaints will it take for them to fix this issue!this can cause power steering to fail and is unsafe!

With less than 58k miles tie rod end out already!

During check for other warranty work, gmc dealer informed me that the power steering fluid was leaking. The repair was not covered under warranty. All the power steering fluid had leaked out of the internal gasket because the gasket failed and the power steering fluid need to be replaced with new fluid, and replace the steering gear.

Driving on the highway coming off of an exit ramp, the power steering failed and was unable to control the vehicle steering.turning the steering wheel was like trying to pull on dead weight to get it to turn.this continued and seemed to get worse as i slowed the car to a stop.upon driving again a few minutes after the vehicle was stopped, power steering returned for 10 miles of driving on the way back to my home, and then failed again.no warning lights appeared with power steering failure, and car is not safe to drive.

Vehicle was slowing to turn and at 15mph the steering locked up making the vehicle uncontrollable. Vehicle was stopped by median curb and steering somehow unlocked. Took vehicle to dealership and they replaced the steering gear, rack and pinion, and power steering pump. Now a little over 18months later the vehicle has started losing power steering again. Dealership is quoting me $2100 to fix when they replaced the last part under a warranty/recall.

The power steering stops working when trying to park or moving at a slow speed. I am in good shape and it takes me all my power with two hands to turn the steering wheel. There is no warning it catches you off guard and multiple times almost hit cars in spots next to where i park. We also have had the air conditioning fixed twice since we've bought it and still doesn't blow as cold as it should. The car has 78,000 miles.

Powersteering gets tight and vehicle shakes.brought to dealer and powersteering pump and gear is leaking fluid.the gm dealer told me that the powersteering part is covered but will not cover the fluid leaking and i am responsible for $500 payment.brake pedal squeaks when pressed down.gm dealer informed that the brake is leaking and needs a brake fluid flush and a new brake booster.

Power steering making a whirring and grinding noise at low speed. When it happens it appears to be harder to steer. Concerned that there is something wrong with the power steering and fear for my and my passengers' safety. When i got on the internet to see if others were having a similar problem amazed at how frequent it was without any type of recall or admission by gmc. This appears to be a very common and serious problem and nothing is being done about it.

During a recent oil change, i was notified by the technician that the steering gear/rack and pinion assembly required replacement due to power steering fluid leak.the dealership stated this would not be covered under a warranty and only the power steering pump has been recalled if steering fails while operating the vehicle.there seems to be several complaints regarding this issue with the 2011 gmc acadia.please consider taking the time to investigate these particular complaints.it very alarming to be informed that a recurring issue will not be resolved unless the power steering fails while operating the vehicle.it's also concerning that several consumers have experienced the same issue with power steering fluid leakage and malfunctioning steering gear/rack.this is a consistent complaint and should be addressed.thank you for your time and consideration.

I have a gmc acadia 2012, 61000 miles. Around december 22, the car started making a weird noise when steering to the right or left on slow speeds. The noise got worse few days after and we scheduled a service in the dealership. Few days later they called me to inform that there was a oil leakage in the the power steering and that they would need to replace the oil pump. Total cost of repair $5000. After doing some research became clear this is a common problem on gmc acadias. And multiple people reported even loosing (suddenly) ability to steer the car while driving. Very concerning. So decided to open a case with gmc corporate to explain that they should be responsible for the repair cost of this issue and that it is unacceptable to have a car with 61k having such serious issues. Even more importantly, tried to emphasize the importance of them taking a careful look on this safety issue reported by many people. After long back and forth and multiple days after, they claim there is nothing they can do about. After 10 days, i still don't have the car repaired. It is still on the dealership. So making everyone aware of this problem. In my case this is the first and last time i buy a gmc car. Please be aware of this safety issue with gmc acadia. Also beware that there were already law suites open against gm for hiding problems. And for acadia 2008-2011 models they had a recall on the power steering. Looks like the problem is still not fixed on newer models like mine. Very concerning that gmc is not doing anything about this and still allowing people to drive their car with such safety issues. I guess until someone die they are not going to do anything about it. Very irresponsible and unprofessional. Done. Gmc acadia drivers be safe.

I had to replace my power steering rack when the car was less than 4 years old and had only 42000 miles. The car has always been serviced at the dealer.

Steering wheel completely locked up during a turn a couple of weeks ago. Then last week i couldn't shift into reverse to get out of driveway. Had it towed to dealer. 1500.00 later i have new shifter and some sort of new gears in steering wheel. Looked it up and there is a class action law suit with millions of people having the same problem, yet still not covered under a recall. My vehicle only has 48000 miles on it this should not have happened if there weren't some sort of defect in manufacture.

I had to have my steering pump replaced because of a loud whining sound. I bought this car new. Also the heating element went out in my heated seat on passenger side where it is rarely used. All repairs over $1100.

At slow speed turns power steering seems to lose power assist

Power steering went out. After that was replaced, the steering column went out. This is a known defect. When will someone do something? after someone dies?more detailed information will be provided upon request.

Sterring wheel locked during turn

7/12/15 cincinnati, ohiojust as others here, i was notified by the tech that the steering gear/rack and pinion assembly required replacement due to power steering fluid leak. The dealership stated this would not be covered under a warranty and would cost $1200 and only the power steering pump has been recalled if steering fails while operating the vehicle. There seems to be many complaints regarding this issue with the 2011 gmc acadia. Please consider taking the time to investigate these particular complaints. It very alarming to be informed that a reoccurring issue will not be resolved unless the power steering fails while operating the vehicle. It's also concerning that several consumers have experienced the same issue with power steering fluid leakage and malfunctioning steering gear/rack. This is a obviously a consistent complaint and should be addressed.

During low rpm turning (such as parking or pulling out/in from/to a parking lot or stop sign) the power steering stops working.the vehicle becomes impossible to steer and causes the vehicle to head into traffic.we have not had an accident yet but have had numerous close calls.

After a short but heavy down pour, i traveled through a puddle at approximately 25 mph and lost power steering for 1-2 seconds.i was unable to turn the steering wheel and needed to brake to avoid going off the road.for the next 2 miles the vehicle seemed to operate correctly, but then it happened again at a slower speed (approximately 10 mph) as i tried to make a 90 degree turn on to my street.i was unable to make the turn and came to a complete stop, then the power steering kicked in again.called the local dealer immediately upon arrive home and left voice mail (they closed at 5pm).called gmc customer service and was told there is no know issue.

I was just told by the gmc dealer that my steering gears are not working and are leaking fluid.they said if it would have been the boot, it would have been covered under warranty. Apparently, this is an extremely common problem, as it is all over every gmc acadia forum as well as logged in your database.why is a recall not being issued for this?it is obviously a design engineering or manufacturing defect.why do we have to wait until there is a crash, injury or death before you are willing to issue a recall?this is really frustrating.the gmc dealer quoted me $1,700 for this repair.

I have a 2011 gmc acadia at 43,000 miles it was brought to the dealer with a steering noise, which i was hearing when making turns in the vehicle. I was told that it is leaking from the steering rack and this was not covered under warranty and was quoted a price of $1,179 for it to be replaced. I have searched and found this to be a common problem with the acadia's.

When going slow and making a turn right or left i lose power steering this happens both forward or backward when i speed up the power steering come back to normal.

Service bulletin no.: sbc-14329 component(s): steering nhtsa id number: 100564592011 gmc acadia ..power steering failure. Received a notice about the potential failure in my power steering pump. Took the vehicle into the gmc dealership to have this fixed as i have experienced early indications of a failure, air bubbles in the fluid and noisy turns. (confirmed by dealer) was told they cannot replace it until it "fails". So i need to crash my car because the pump fails. Just feel that gmc need to fix this potential safety issue before someone gets hurt. They are aware of the issue since they issued the bulletin or "recall".

Squeaking/whining in steering column. Dealership diagnosis, power steering gear leaking (rack & pinion) and must be replaced. Cost, $1432.00 plus tax. Vehicle has only 17948 miles. Not covered by warranty or manuf. Recall. Out of warranty due to age or time. Power steering could fail as it has in other vehicles. Definitely a safety issue. Gmc should stand behind their vehicles as this is a design or engineering flaw. This condition is noticed when ever the steering wheel is turned in either direction.

I was pulling out of my driveway when it felt like the power steering locked up.the car wouldn't turn in any direction.i applied more force to the steering wheel and immediately heard a grinding noise and saw white smoke coming from under the hood.i shut the car off and opened the hood to see the smoke coming from the front of the engine and it smelled horrible.i checked the power steering fluid and it was perfect.i started the car back up and the power steering came back, but now there's a whinning sound every time i turn.after research online, i found that thousands of others have had this same exact problem and that gm is going through a class action lawsuit over this issue because it's a huge safety concern for individuals inside the car.the class action lawsuit is case # [xxx] filed on 03/22/2013.affected vehicles are as follows:2009-2012 gmc acadia, 2009-2012 buick enclave, 2009-2012 chevrolet traverse. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

While driving encountering a dangerous loss of power steering intermittently especially during braking (low engine revs). Steering appears to lock and bind. Dealer states failure of power steering pump and rack and pinion gear.rack and pinion gear. Rack failure should be covered under recall. Car is not safe unless rack and pinion is replaced. This is second failure reported. 1= previous owner 70k /2=current owner 105k

While driving below 10 mph, the power steering failed and caused the steering wheel to become very difficult to turn in either direction. The vehicle was taken to the dealer (mayse automotive group inc, 2032 s elliott ave, aurora, mo) who was unable to duplicate or determine the cause of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 120,000. Contact states this occurrence has happened three times.

Power steering went out and almost hit another vehicle. Works going down a 2 lane highway over 35 mph, but stops working as you turn into parking lots, road, etc at lower speeds. Steering is extremely difficult and have noticed many acadia owners are having this issue. Car is a 2011 denali acadia with 103,000 miles.

The vehicle loses its power steering while backing into parking spaces and while the steering wheel is turned sharply.no power steering at all.

My power steering has made a high pitched noise for some time now. When i took it to the dealership after receiving a letter which addressed potential power steering failure i was told that the only way it would be repaired free of charge was if i had power steering failure. I just took it to my mechanic for a separate issue and he told me that he has serviced several acadia's with the same issue. This seems to be an engineering defect. In researching the issue i am finding multiple complaints about the same problem. Does there have to be a death or potentially multiple deaths from this defect before a recall is issued? it would seem that total loss of power steering when operating the vehicle would be a huge safety issue.

Had a loud whining sound coming from under the hood, the gmc dealer diagnosed it as the steering gear - replacement cost me $1840.28.

The contact owns a 2011 gmc acadia. While operating the vehicle, the steering wheel felt loose and a whining noise was heard when it was turned. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer (sellers buick gmc, 38000 grand river ave, farmington hills, mi) where it was diagnosed that the power steering fluid leaked from the vehicle and the power steering fluid seals needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The vin was not available. The failure mileage was 140,000.

I was just told by the gmc dealer that my steering column is leaking fluid. Apparently, this is an extremely common problem, as it is all over every gmc acadia forum as well as logged in your database. Why is a recall not being issued for this? it is obviously a design engineering or manufacturing defect. Why do we have to wait until there is a crash, injury or death before you are willing to issue a recall? this is absurd. My family is now spending $1,700 for this repair.

The car started to make a loud whiningsound 3 month after we purchased it used. Then power steering started to go in and out. Took the car to a auto care shop and this is what the bill said. "replace power steering pump, tried to flush system 2 times, bleed out air, replace power steering pump again, still no power steering." spoke with gmc and was told to take the car to a dealership, we are covered under special coverage 14329. Going to dealership this week. We have already spent a little less then $1000 on this problem.

At slow speeds my steering gets very hard as if i have no power steering at all. Very difficult to parallel park. Loud whining sound as i turn the steering wheel. Numerous times when driving on either highway or city street..changing lanes has been difficult and manual steering was needed.

My 2011 acadia had a defective power steering pump and power steering rack.the pump was replaced under an extended warranty; however, the rack was not covered.the dealer advised that the rack was not covered and provided an estimate for $1700.i took the vehicle to a independent automotive repair shop to confirm the need for the repair.the independent shop advised that the entire rack needed to be replaced.they advised that the part should not have failed so quickly and it is likely a defective part.based on research, it appears that this steering rack is a common problem with this vehicle.i had the independent shop replace the rack for $1404.please research the possibility of making this a recall.thank you.

Just as others here, i was notified by the technician that the steering gear/rack and pinion assembly required replacement due to power steering fluid leak. The dealership stated this would not be covered under a warranty and only the power steering pump has been recalled if steering fails while operating the vehicle. There seems to be several complaints regarding this issue with the 2011 gmc acadia. Please consider taking the time to investigate these particular complaints. It very alarming to be informed that a recurring issue will not be resolved unless the power steering fails while operating the vehicle. It's also concerning that several consumers have experienced the same issue with power steering fluid leakage and malfunctioning steering gear/rack. This is a obviously a consistent complaint and should be addressed.

Power steering quits working at low idle and turning from a stand still.this causes vehicle to sometimes enter on coming traffic. Extremely dangerous.

Rack is leaking on the steering.

While driving encountering a dangerous loss of power steering intermittently especially during braking (low engine revs).steering appears to lock and bind.dealer states failure of powersteering pump and rack and pinion gear.this is 2nd time. Power steering first failed at 36,000 miles requiring full rack and pump replacement under warranty. Now, at 100,000 miles pump fails again and requires pump, seal and full rack and gear replacement.car is not safe. Service bulletin #14329a acknowledges problem with pump and covers pump and gear *seal* but not rack and pinion gear. Rack failure should be covered under recall.

Gmc sent a letter out saying there is a problem with the power steering pump and that they extended the warranty on it.in my case the power steering pump would quit at times and it had no power steering felt like manual steering. But before i could bring it in to get replaced it was leaking fluid which caused the rack and pinion to go bad. I explained this to the manager and he said the rack and pinion wasn't under warranty and i had to pay for this which cost me $1372.00 i sent gmc a email to complain and they called back saying the dealer would call me which they never have i left them a message to call me and a number to reach me but now nobody wants to call me back i think they want me to forget about this.i said a rack and pinion should not go bad on a truck with just 48800 miles on it and the power steering pump caused this which they should stand behind their product.

Rack & pinion was leaking. Was replaced at dealership. Power steering pump also replaced. Gmc did not make this public that there was a problem with pump. Replaced pump fluid with a different type than was originally installed. Many gmc veh. Have this prob. The fact that gmc changed fluids in the steering system could have caused the original to fail. Gmc will not admit there is aproblem with the steering system. Please check with gmc amd get the truth.

Whining noise in steering column, thumping at slow right turns, needed new rack and pinion, cv joints replaced

My 2011 gmc acadia intermittently looses power steering, this started around 4 months ago and happens when i am driving at low speeds (parking, turning into driveway, backing out of spots, etc...) the steering completely locks up and i end up doing 16 point turns with this vehicles dead weight! after looking on the internet i see this is a common issue with this car yet nothing has been done about it.this is extremely dangerous as i never know when its going to happen. I have been contacted by gmc about a "safety" recall for a bolt on a wiper coming loose yet haven't heard a thing about a recall on a real safety issue like randomly loosing my steering ability!

The contact owns a 2011 gmc acadia. The contact stated that while driving at 45 mph, the steering wheel seized and excessive force on the steering wheel was required. The contact stated that power steering fluid was leaking. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 55,000. ...updated 02/11/15 the consumer stated a gm technician vehicle and noted fluid leak from the power steering pump and power steering gear. Gm offered to pay for the pump repair but, not the gear leak repair. Updated 06/9/2015

Loss of power steering at low speed.had the entire rack replaced (prior to power steering loss), as well as the power steering pump replaced (after power steering loss and covered under the tsb) and within to weeks of having the power steering pump replaced, the exact same thing occurred.at very low speed, in a parking lot, making a right hand turn, i lost all power steering and heard a loud screeching noise as i attempted to maneuver my very heavy suv to a safe area with no power steering. "service battery charging system" error came up on my in-dash screen and then it went away. I turned the engine off and re-started with no power steering still and then re-started again an that is when the power steering worked again. The entire time, the radio and lights were on and did not fail.i drove the car directly to the dealership and after a full day of having my car, they told me i needed a new alternator now at at cost of $1200!!!! i'm not sure how the alternator is related since i do not have electric power steering?!?!?!i feel like this defect is costing customers thousands of dollars for a defect from the manufacture and gm needs to wake up and issue a recall before someone is killed!!

The contact owns a 2011 gmc acadia. The contact stated whenever the gear was shifted into the park position, thefour automatic doors would unlock without intent. Wanted tailgate noise fixed while under warrantee, but was put off by dealer to wait for recall fix.recall fix did not solve problem of loud noises when using power tailgate. After about 2 years i received recall letter from gm and dealer did recall work.however , the noise problem still exists and dealer tells me i will need to pay $725 to fix part # 23142258 because it is not covered under long awaited recall repair.i called gm customer assistance center and they cannot authorize repair either.i beleive the recall module by not working correctly caused the gear failure.that's why i believe gm should fix the tailgate.all this happened over a 2 year period.while car was in warrenty and now out of warranty.since gm had to fix all 2011 acadia's the process took too long and damaged the vehicle.i received my recall letter in november 2015 , years after announcement was made.

Still does ride as well as before.the car was unsafe.have 2 invoices, plus special coverage bulletin, plus old struts.

I was dropping my son off to school, doing about 20 mph when my car dash started blinking off and on saying traction control is off; check traction control; and then the car just stalled in the middle of a busy road with my son in the back seat. I found out that my computer system had malfunction and that i would need a new on installed.

I went to open the back of my acadia, pushed the button and as it raised i started to put a window in the back and the liftgate made a strange noise and before i knew it the liftgate started to come down while i was still holding the window....it didn't stop even though it hit me and made my face hit the edge of the window and i had to push back really hard and then squirm my way out still holding the window. Prior to this happening, i have had no issues with the liftgate.

Our nite mare began december 2015purchase of this vehicle has been in shop more then we've driven it , first thoughts on non starting was needed bigger battery, did that , secondthey thought battery issues again , an third time of non starting suppose able bad ground on transmission, did that, fourth time another ground on transmission bad, fifth time thought some thing electrical , put in some sort of transmission module , sixth time brain part, seventh time the back hatchan 8th time they have no idea its in shop still from august 4th last time drove anit lock brakes came on an slowed our speed from 55 to 30 we were all scared

My car has trouble starting often sometit takes almost an hour to get it started jump starting it does nothing battery tested good only a click as if battery is dead but still nothing

The liftgate unexpectedly falls. When it opens, it opens all the way, then it will unexpectedly fall at times.

The car it's equipped with a power liftgate and gas struts that hold the power lift gate when the rear trunk gate is opened, in my car the struts close prematurely an the open liftgate suddenly closes and causing injury

Motor stops running while in movement in gears of forward and reverse. Driver has no control of the car. Steering works but no breaks or power to power train. Motor just shuts down with out any notice. This happens while in movement on public roads, freeways and while parking.

Takata recall

Steering wheel completely locked up during a turn a couple of weeks ago. Then last week i couldn't shift into reverse to get out of driveway. Had it towed to dealer. 1500.00 later i have new shifter and some sort of new gears in steering wheel. Looked it up and there is a class action law suit with millions of people having the same problem, yet still not covered under a recall. My vehicle only has 48000 miles on it this should not have happened if there weren't some sort of defect in manufacture.

I had an accident in 8/6 where i place.my car in parking (p) and all of sudden a very accelarate noise came from the engine and locked me and my husband inside, we couldnt open the door and not even to turn off because the keya got stock in the ignation. Speed up over 30 miles an hour against a neighbor house causing damages and sending me to the hospital.. I want gmc to contact me asap. Fyi. The is video to prove it.

Driving 40mph, accelerated into the left lane to pass. Removing my foot from the accelerator, my vehicle continued to accelerate with the pedal moving to the floor.after repeatedly stomping the brake and depressing the "cancel cruise" control button, i was able to regain control of the vehicle before hitting the vehicle ahead of me.this happened about 3.5 hours into a 9 hour trip, so the vehicle was warm. I was able to repeat the condition 4 times. Twice with the cruise on but disengaged and twice with the cruise turned off.i discovered that stomping the brakes or depressing the cancel cruise button cleared the condition. After a couple of stops, condition occurred a 6th time as i attempted to pass a vehicle going 50mph.as i depressed the accelerator, the symptom recurred with my vehicle accelerating to 80 mph before continually depressing the "cancel cruise" button released the stuck accelerator.on 3 june, took the vehicle to the dealer service department. Neither dealer tech nor i could reproduce the problem. . thinking vehicle temp coud be the difference, i left the vehicle with the technician. He drove it for 3 hours and approximately 150 miles and could not replicate the problem. Dealer opened gm technical assistance case (71-1189923303) and allegedly gm has no record of similar problems. The dealer had no recourse but to return the vehicle to me. I called gm customer assistance and registered my concern. Several days later, gm customer assistance called saying that gm had no record of similar incidences but had logged another vehicle service request (71-1191383116). I questioned this revelation as i had found several documented similar cases with acadias on edmunds.com. My wife normally drives this vehicle. I am unsure how she would have reacted had this happened with her driving. It is definitely a major safety concern.

The contact owns a 2011 gmc acadia. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 mph, the service engine soon, service traction control, engine reduce power warning lights illuminated and the vehicle speed decreased to 30 mph. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the throttle body needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 73,988.

Can started to smoke. Panel stated reduce engine. Couldn't go over 20mph. Car broke down with two kids in car.

Ses light came on, trac control light came on/ vehicle lost power. Traveling southbound on state route 83 near wooster, ohio two lane highway with nearly no pull offs. Lost power going up hill. Went from 55mph to barely 20 mph within seconds.

Back windshield shattered when trunk was closed using the power trunk door feature. One month later, the driver's side rear quarter panel window shattered when the trunk was closed using the power trunk door feature. Car was stationary in both instances.

Windshield wipers won't work

Hvac system failure for the second time in less than a year that lead to freon leaking into the passenger cabin of our 2011 gmc acadia that has less than 44,000 miles. It was making an extreme hissing sound, followed by a misty cloud of freon gas, and now lets off an acrid, plastic/electrical burning smell that fills the cabin followed by steam rising from the engine compartment and the vents in the car's hood. The car starts to smell like it is on fire, only we can't find the source since it is obscured by the dashboard. We have had to the dealer several times for the same issue, yet all they do is upgrade the software and recharge the freon unit. It eventually leaks and shoots out freon into the faces of the passengers, which is not safe! now the burning smell has us concerned that we are driving a vehicle that is going to catch fire at anytime.we initially had gm and gmc repair this problem in october 2013, but the unit failed again exactly a year later in october 2014. There are dozens upon dozens of owners online that have well-documented cases with the same hvac unit. Something needs to be done before the car catches fire, and heaven forbid, kills someone.

Power window controls intermittentlynot working to close all passenger windows from driver door control panel.only work around discovered is to lock/unlock windows and then close windows, works approx. 75% of time.

The contact owns a 2011 gmc acadia. The contact stated that the rear windshield wiper was missing after driving through a car wash.
