Vehicle was backed into a concrete porch in the driveway at a low speed. Side airbags near the front seats partially deployed, separating the plastic and releasing smoke/powder into vehicle without deploying the airbag and locked the seat belts so tightly it broke the plastic base of the seat belts.

I have had 3 recalls on my 4 year old acadia in the last several months and also had to replace my power steering at less than 65,000 miles. My car is back at the dealer for the third time in less than 10 days for the service air bag light after they have attempted to fix the recall.although no specific safety incident, my concerns with the ability of the dealer/automaker to provide a safe vehicle and well as the overall lack of reliability of the car in less than 4years is both disappointing and concerning. I am currently in touch with gmc about my options.

Starting in july 2013, after driving my 2010 acadia for over 90 miles and stopping it for an hour or so i restarted the acadia and the air bag service light appeared and stayed on. I stopped for gas after 60 miles and when i restarted the car the light did not come on.i stopped again after 25 miles and when i restarted the car the light came on. I restarted the acadia the next day and no air bag service light.this again occurred numerous times after a 1 hour drive or longer. Recently, october/november 2013 the air bag service light appears after much shorter trips (less than 10 miles). Up to now, when i first start up the car in the morning, the air bag service light does not come on.but now it comes on after more frequent stops and restarts. Current mileages 33,143. 3 year warranty period expired 5/2013 however, i have not reached the mileage warrant period.

The driver info screen alerted to service airbags. Airbag instrument panel light illuminated.

Service air bag light comes on and off intermittently. The frequency is unpredictable and it may be weeks in between occurrences. It will come on and go off sometimes when the vehicle is stationary or sometimes when it it is in motion.

The contact owns a 2008 gmc acadia. The contact stated that on an intermittent basis the air bag light would illuminate on the instrumentl panel. The vehicle was inspected by a dealer, where they were unable to diagnose the failure. In addition, the contact stated that while pulling out of her driveway at a low speed the vehicle suddenly stalled. She was unable to restart the vehicle and had to push it to the side of the road. The vehicle was then towed to a dealer, where they were unable to diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, but offered no assistance. The failure and current mileages were approximately 43,000.

The contact owns a 2010 gmc acadia. The contact stated that the air bag warning indicator illuminated, which was a safety concern. The vehicle was taken to bentley chevrolet (1950 florence blvd, florence, al) where it was diagnosed that the air bag control module needed replacement. The vehicle was repaired, but the indicator illuminated again. The vehicle was taken back to the same dealer where it was diagnosed that it needed a new battery and wiring. The vehicle was repaired again, but the failure still recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failures and they were notified by the dealer that the failures could not be duplicated. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.

Left side impact sensor, driver's side airbag, passenger presence module, front struts, rear upper control arms, front brake pads and rotors, steering gear... All at once.

The abs and the traction control light came on all of sudden when i was driving down the interstate and it just stays on.

The battery on my gmc acadia died on the 15th february and the dealer could not identify anything wrong with the vehicle. The following monday the service air bag light came on and i was told the sensor was not working right and the parts were ordered. The friday of 2/26 the check engine light was on and the vehicle would not accelerate above 50mph and half the gas tank was emptied in 25 miles. During that friday the engine was still running even after i pulled the key out of the ignition. That same night the battery died and could not be jump started. The vehicle was inspected on 3/1 and the air bag sensors along with fuse box was replaced as water was leaking into the fuse box. All of this happened in the mileage range of 6800 to 7100 approximately. The dealer has replaced the fuse box and the vehicle is running fine so far.

The passenger seat seatbelt and airbag lights come on when no one is in the seat, or when something very light, such as a coke can is in the seat. This can happen at any point during a trip, and i have to buckle the seatbelt to stop the warning bell. It makes me nervous that the seat is so sensitive, and i fear the airbag may be sensitive as well. I make my daughter sit in the back, because i'm concerned for her safety. The vehicle can be stationary or in motion when this happens. It used to happen randomly, but it's been happening even if nothing is in the seat the last four days. There has been no recall on my vehicle.

When starting the vehicle i get a "service airbags" warning.i push the dash button that clears the display and it does not come back on.only when i am stationary and have just started the engine. I mentioned it to my dealership and they said, "oh, that could be expensive."i have yet to get it serviced because others have stated the problem and spent lots of money to no avail.i am concerned that this is a factory defect and could be life threatening if ever involved in an accident.i have 159,000 miles on my vehicle and the warning began in the last 18 months.

"takata recall"we were notified november 2015 that our air bags could cause sever injury or death!what in the world are you waiting for..another lawsuit!!!!!when will this be repaired or given a safe vehicle to drive in the interim?????!!!!!

The gmc acadia has recently had a recall for a piece within the seat for air bags. However there is another piece called the passenger presence module (part #20933923) within the same seat that is also defective but not covered in the recall.this piece basically determines if someone is sitting in the seat and if the airbags need to be deployed if in an accident.if this piece is not working properly the person sitting in the passenger seat may be at risk. This car has never been in an accident nor have the airbags ever been deployed.

Passager air bag light goes on and off and get sevice air bag light.

The contact owns a 2010 gmc acadia. The contact stated that while driving approximately 25 mph, the air bag warning indicator illuminated intermittently. The malfunction recurred whenever the vehicle was in operation. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the front driver's side internal seat belt pretensioner was replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the defect. The approximate failure mileage was 56,000. The vin was unavailable.

The contact owns a 2010 gmc acadia. The contact stated that the vehicle experienced an electrical failure that affected the tail lights, license plate light, headlights, and power lift gate. The contact took the vehicle to a dealer, but it was not diagnosed. The dealer informed the contact to set up an appointment for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 136,000.

Have hade it in shop several time but has not been fixed . They keep saying it somethings else ever time. Removed remote started didn't help. Took radio fuse out didn't help . Car will notstart when it sits for a day or twosomething is draining the battery when it sits. An the dealer always say its somethings else its somethings. I'm tired of dealing with these people about my gmc acadia.. The dvds player went out warranty won't cover it radio won't turn off warranty won't cover itwarranty didn't cover removing the remote starter. Will not buy another gmc at all .would like to know where i can sue the company an gmc warranty place. If anyone can help me please let me know who to contact to sue the company. Ms skeens. Had the problem for a 1 1/2 now

Have to replace low beam lights every 3-4 months. Lights burn out. Have tried multiple brands all from advanced auto parts. This has been going on for 4 years.

Daytime running light went out and i was charged $106.02 to have my bulb changed.after that it went out again. Then i got a recall for the daytime running lights and took it in again to have them install a new gasket and reinforcement plate. Since then my light hasd gone out a few more times. About a week after they repaired it, i smelled something burning. The light assembly had melted and the socket and wires were melted to . This recall was not fixed correctly. Looking online i see that i am not alone. I just want gm to do the right thing and repair it. This is a safety hazard.

My 2010 gmc acadia was sitting under my carport during an electrical storm.lightening struck the vehicle, but did not strike any of the other 3 vehicles in the yard.this was the only vehicle with on-star.my family could have been seriously injured if we had been in the car.the entire elctrical system was knocked out.

Running light was out and discovered that both running lamps bulbs had melted in their sockets and electrical wires burned and shorted, this required that both lamp units be replaced. Potential electrical fire hazard. I had reported to the dealer, in 2013that the inside of the lamp appeared smoky but their reply was that it was moisture condensation.replaced parts number 22938888 & 22938889the vehicle is only driven daytime, locally in 10 mile radius, and garaged all the time. --the reason for the low milage.i suspect that the unit was constructed in a manner that the heat of the lamp may not have adequateventilation to dissipate consequently there is a slow melting of the plastic housing, this is a design failure which could lead to electrical fire.

I've been having issues with the a/c unit, i try to turn it on and all that it does is flash 3 times and then it goes back to off, it doesn't cool at all. I tried to research the problem in the internet and at the gmc website and it seems that is been a huge issue since 2007 for this model! i called the dealer and although they know what the problem is they insist in charge me $100 to connect it and troubleshoot it even though they know the issue. They are charging between $ 1200 and $2000 to "fix" a known problem. This problem is causing that my cd player gets hot while is playing the cd and eject them from the system. Please i need you to research and help out with this issue. They say that is a issue with low or leaking cooling system and that it needs freon or that is the hvac system, but is the same excuse to hundreds of customers, some of whom decided to just run the vehicle without a/c during hot summers. Because of all my medical issues, i can't have the " luxury" of not having the a/c broken, nor i have the money to pay for something that is giving so many people so much problems!thanks

On 9/23/10 my wife exited our 2010 gmc acadia leaving the keys partially inserted into the ignition. Today 9/24/10 she heard a noise in the garage. When she opened the door she found the vehicle trying to start by itself. We do not have a remote starter installed. She removed the keys and took them back into the house. If the vehicle had started during the night while we were sleeping i may not have been able to send you this message. Later when i returned home i called the dealership where we purchased the acadia and reported the incident to their service specialist. They had not heard of this problem before. Has this problem been reported to nhtsa?

The brake lights will remain on at times even when the brakes are not being used. Also the traction control and electronic stability control will randomly turn off (frequently) and the dealerships are unable to tell me why and how to fix it. The cruise control at times will not work.

The contact owns a 2010 gmc acadia. The contact stated that he attempted to start the vehicle but it would not because the battery was dead. The contact attempted to have the vehicle jump started but to no avail.the vehicle was taken to a mechanic for inspection where they jumped the battery for a third time. The vehicle was then taken to the dealer for inspection and they stated that the drain that was connected to the sunroof became clogged and dripped onto the fuse box. As a result, the fuse box shortened and drained the battery.the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified but they did not provide any assistance. The failure mileage was 31,000.

While im driving my doors lock and unlock th wa bmy rpm jumps up to 5or6 causing the transmission skip gears then it will cut off. My vehicle has been at the dealershop since june 5th. They replaced so many things on it including the transmission and when i picked it up on 7-27-18 while on 95 my truck did the same thing, scariest thing ive ever dealt with causing me to have to go to the side of the road cause my doors locked and unlocked rpm jumped to 6 and smelled like something was burning and it cut off.

Driving in the rain and the traction safety came on as i may have sled on some very wet leaves. I was able to pull to the shoulder and get out of traffic, as i gathered myself and got the car ready to drive off the tires started spinning out of control i awesome trying to get traction then the abs light appeared and the brakes started grinding. Then the vehicle switch gears and the car begin to go in a jerky movement at 6 to 8 mph the rpms would not go up and the car would not return back to normal gear. After praying i make it to my door the dash then said calibrate vehicle by driving in a circle. The car cut off twice but would immediately start right up then the dash stated engine is hot turn air off. No air was on at all. The thermostat temperature gauge was all the way up and all the needles were flipping up and down at different times. I could not seem to gain traction only in reverse and no engine light or any indication of any malfunction. Can you see why there has not been a recall on this issue because as i searched to see about this problem it has been hundreds of consumers with this issue. This is very dangerous and unsafe to all drivers. Gmc needs to do something about their so called safety features that are not safe at all.i could have lost my life because of the weather condition and the car losing traction and the tires spinning out of control. It was almost like the computer did not know how to shut down. Please help

First happened at 75000 with engine and electrical system shut down.doors don't work and radio/bluetooth works when it wants too. Exposed wires got fixed because of moisture.steering power failure at low speed and emergency maneuvers.the dealerships cant fix it although they know its the steering pump.at 93000 a systemic failure of electrical systems again.new dealer fixed supposedly the wires again, still exposed. The car electrical does not perform over 76 degrees outside temperature.power steering is a problem and getting worse.findingthat there are more problems with power steering from 2013 and lower models.

My front daytime light starting going of and on and then stopped-working and when it was checked by the gmc dealer they found that the light frame has been melted and it would not hold a light. They would not fix it unless i paid $1,100 which i would not do. Called gmc and three times and each time they said they would call me back which they did not do. I called back again and without even talking to me said i agreed to pay part of the cost which i did not do. I am left with an unsafe suv.

Low beam headlight continues to burn out and the bulb harness does not securely hold the bulb.multiple failures of the harness and bulbs make driving at night a safety hazard.based on our mechanics opinion, the fault is a poor design of the part and it should be redesigned and recalled. This has happened on 4 separate occasions so far and at a cost to repair/replace each time.

While trying to park thegmc acadia 2010, the steering felt like it went out on me. My husband had told me previously that he had the same issue while trying to pull out into traffic. My incident only hurt my shoulder his incident almost caused a car crash. We have also had issues with the window on the driver's side not opening until you open another window. And now the latest issue, my husband had gotten off work and started the car and all the locks went up and down really fast and the dash lights flickered off and on, then, when he was on his way home he smelled plastic burning. If this was anybody else's car i would have said it was possessed but since we're paying for it there's a problem.does somebody have to die before they will address this problem?i filled this form out on my husband's phone.

Purchased 2010 gmc acadia used. At 125000 miles, engine shuts off while driving, rendering it impossible to get out of the way. Had to get towed in. Mechanic said corrosion in some wires. 2 weeks later, wouldn't start, called tow truck, suddenly started. Had to spend $1200 having sensor replaced from water damage. Had to pay $300 for new windshield because said that is where it was leaking. 3 weeks later, wouldn't start, mechanic said two fuses needed replaced. 1 week later, wouldn't start, paid another tow, then started. Tow truck followed me to dealership. Dealership called, said it was starting fine. Couldn't diagnose if it kept starting. Told me to come get it. On my way to dealership, they called back to say, "bingo", it started. Next day, diagnosed it is the onstar module. Wth! $700 more dollars down the drain. Seriously! it isn't covered under any recalls. I will never purchase another gmc.................ever! costing a fortune to keep it going. I'm on a fixed income for crying out loud. Still owe for the vehicle, trading my lemon is not an option at this point.

The problem only occurs at the hottest point of the day (spring, summer) when the car has been sitting for a few hours in direct sunlight and you try to use the keyless entry to unlock the doors, it doesn't work. You can start the vehicle but none of the electrical features will work (windows, sunroof, radio, etc..) and the vehicle will not go into reverse or drive. The display states that the hood is open. You can pop the hood and open and close it but the problem will not fix itself. We have had the vehicle into 2 separate dealerships in 2 different states and the vehicle won't do it while it is there. Once it cools down outside or the sun goes down, the car will start and go into drive. They have replaced the body control module and this did not fix the problem. We have been stranded on numerous occasions and it has been a pain. Just wondering if anyone else has had this issue-it is getting old!!!

I own a 2010 gmc acadia... I've had to replace the low beams on both passenger and driver side numerous times!!!!!!!!i'm a single mother of 3... Not only is it extremely dangerous for your headlights to go out at any given moment(especially when my children are in the vehicle... Not to mention other motorists children) but its also costly!!!!!this all started back in aug 2018... This is getting ridiculous!!!i've done my dues... Worked hard to pay my vehicle off...all i wanted was a good and reliable vehicle for my family... And it's far from safe!!!!

The contact owns a 2010 gmc acadia. The contact stated that the driver parked the vehicle, turned the engine off and removed the key, but the engine continued to operate. The battery cable had to be detached in order for the vehicle to power off. After ten minutes, the contact reconnected the battery and restarted the vehicle, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to a dealer who diagnosed that the ignition switch needed to be replaced. The vehicle was scheduled for the repair. The failure mileage was 88,000.

Vehicle is hard to steer when attempting to reverse and park or turn right or left. Steering so hard that almost cant turn at all.checked power steering fluid and it is full.also having problems with the vehicle radio changing stations on its own as well. This has been happening over and over again.does not matter how fast you are driving

Drivers side and passengers front headlights, these lights i have replaced multiple times even getting a ticket for 1 instance this is a safety related issue that needs to be fixed by gm

This has happened about ten times now all within the past 3-4 months. I will be driving and go to make a turn and the steering wheel locks up and the engine dies. The brakes still work so i am able to stop the car, turn they key off and restart it. It had happened to me once on the highway and the rest of the times have been stop and go turns in the city but once was while turning left onto on cmong traffic and my car died in the middle of it. I took it to 3 different auto places and all told me they couldn't find the problem. I then researched this and found several other people having this same problem. I contacted them and they set me up with a dealership to get it fixed. Gmc said if it was under 150,000 miles they would pay for it and if it was over then i would still qualify for a payment assistance program. However a day after dropping off my car to get fixed the dealership called me and said they don't know how to fix my car and to come get it out of their parking lot.we told gmc about this and they said it's not there problem. I'm at a loss at this point as no one seems to be able to fix the car and it is a death trap for me and my family. I'm also not just going to sell to the car to somebody like the dealership advised me to do because 'they wouldn't want their son or daughter driving that thing' (even though they seem perfectly fine to have me drive it off their lot asap and not be their problem anymore) because i wouldnt feel right selling a car to someone knowing it could kill them through no fault of their own. I don't know what to do here. The right thing to do would be to put that car in the junkyard and buy a new one but i don't have the cash. Would like somebody to tell me how to fix this.

Windshield defrost will not function. Air only blows from dash vents. The dash controls are ineffective and will not change the mode from dash to feet or defrost. Visibility was severely impaired. I am taking the vehicle to the dealership for inspection tomorrow.

I noticed both of my driving lights had gone out and went to replace. They are the hid headlight assemblies and the driving light sockets and bulbs melted together resulting in cracking that reflector/projection in the assembly.my vin is not the "vin specific" included in the special recall 14283, but i have that exact issue.

My drivers side headlight went out, i originally thought it was due to bulb life. When i changed the bulb i found that the harness socket where the bulb plugs into was burnt/melted. I proceeded to change the bulb anyway to see the result. 5 minutes later the light bulb burnt out again. This looks to be a serious fire hazard and i believe there should be a recall completed for further investigation. This was for the low beam light bulb.

While accelerating on the entrance ramp for central expressway, hwy 75, it became very sluggish, and all of a sudden had no pick up.i nearly got rear ended by a fast truck!since april of 2011 i noticed that it had no pick up.the problem seemed to go away, when i learned to not accelerate too much to enter the highway, just gradually vs in a hurry.then today, sept 2011, while driving at apprx 45 mph on a busy road, the car seemed to pull back, and the traction light comes on, and beeps at me.it was a sunny, dry day.i pull over in a parking lot, turn off the engine, to get something out of my trunk, and it would not open - and, no, the override button was not on.weird.i start the car, and the problem goes away, and i drive safely back to my destination.why does the problem always exist when i am by myself, and watch, when i take the time off to bring it to the dealership, everything will be just fine.i pray that i make it to the dealership and they diagnose some sort of defect and fix it because it still is under warranty.i cannot bear the worse case scenario of anything happen to my family.

While driving or not the car has a display on screen on odometer of park assist off no code comes up other then this on display on odometer.

Truck wont crank! new battery, starter & alternater passed. Boosted it off cranked straight up, parked for a hour, wouldn't crank again. Vehicle was stationary in a parking lot.

The contact owns a 2010 gmc acadia. While operating the vehicle, the turn signal, door ajar, seat belt, backup camera, and other components were not functioning and were not audible inside the vehicle. The cause of the failures was not diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 120,000.

2010 gmc acadia. Consumer states vehicle was struck by lightening while sitting under a carport *tgwthe consumer stated the vehicle would not start and the alarm kept sounding.the vehicle was towed to the dealer. The consumer was informed the vehicle needed a body control module, a pcm, air bag sensor andecbm was needed to make the necessary repairs to the vehicle. The consumer stated the dealer had her vehicle for30 days.

As everyone else is complaining, power steering feels like it's out. Especially noticed in parking lots when turning into a spot at a low speed and pulling out into traffic at intersections. I bought this $40k+ vehicle to haul my wife and 4 kids around and it's literally falling apart. Serious issues with the steering, the gas gauge only works half of the time, the hot/cold buttons are wore down as you can't even tell what the '+' & '-' are anymore (and we had these replace once already under warranty) and the windshield fluid washer pump is out (and no, it's not just a fuse-already checked). All my kids are involved in sports and we put a lot of miles on per year. Very worried about the steering with my family, trying not to drive it much as we're trying to get rid of it asap before the entire country knows that they're junk! it's out of warranty, and i can't even imagine how much it costs to repair it, so just trying to get rid of this headache of a vehicle! we are actually driving around an old 1999 subaru outback with almost 200k miles, and it's much more dependable than our $40k+ acadia. Very disappointed! first question is, with all the complaints, why hasn't it been recalled yet? i'm guessing there has to be so many fatalities before a recall is appointed?? second question, do the makers of the gmc acadia sleep well at night knowing their product is very dangerous and it's just a matter of time before people start getting killed?

This vehicle has been a problem since i purchased it. Unfortunately, my state does not have a lemon law for used vehicles so i have been stuck with repair after repair.#1 the battery. I purchased this vehicle in 2016 and i have had to replace the battery twice already.this vehicle has killed cells in multiple batteries.#2 the transmission. When i initially purchased this vehicle occasionally it would not smoothly shift into 3rd gear. I took it back to the dealer multiple times, but of course the issue would replicate during their test drive so they couldn't diagnose the issue.the issue is that the truck will not shift correctly, but the problem normally corrects if you turn the vehicle off and then turn it back on.the problem is that you never know when the truck will not shift gears. This is problematic when you have a toddler in the vehicle and need to get on the highway and all of the sudden the vehicle will not shift in to 3rd gear, then you have to try to safely find a shoulder and hope that turning off/turning on the vehicle will fix the issue. Sometimes it's a 1x fix; other times the vehicle has to the restarted 3x times before the vehicle will change gears correctly. Diagnosis from 1 mechanic, something is sticking in the transmission and the entire transmission needs to be replaced#3 timing chain. This is the most recent issue. It began with an onset of a check engine light and multiple codes about a crankshaft sensor, o2 sensors, etc. Originally the mechanic was going to replace the sensors, but insists on replacing the timing chain assembly based on the information discovered about vehicles using the same parts and recallsit's unfortunate to discover that this vehicle hasn't had a recall issued for any of these issues knowing that they pose safety risks for drivers and passengers, especially children and the elderly.

I have had 2 engines replaced in this truck and now the air conditioning is not working and plus no power steering. The truck will steer upon speed. Cannot parallel park because of this. When making a turn regardless of left or right i have to step on the gas in order to steer the car.

The contact owns a 2010 gmc acadia. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The contact mentioned that the failure recurred multiple times. The technician diagnosed that the battery needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The vin was not available. The failure mileage was 53,000 and the current mileage was 56,000.

Current recall states: "the affected vehicles, equipped with the power liftgate option, have gas struts that hold the power liftgate up when open. These struts may prematurely wear and the open liftgate may suddenly fall." my vehicle is currently having this problem.the back lift gate will open and then with great force closes down quickly.this is an extreme safety concern as i was struck by it on monday 10/26/2015 when the problem initially occurred.after speaking with gmc there is currently no resolve.this is a huge safety concern as i have two young children, and no resolution is not acceptable.

Letter from congressman rigell on behalf of constituent re recall general motor vehicle.the consumer stated a year after the he purchased the vehicle, the engine light illuminated. He took the vehicleto the dealer to have it serviced. A few months later, the light illuminated again.the dealer informed him, the fuel system needed to be cleaned. After the oil was changed, the tire light illuminated, the ac stopped working, the windows were inoperative and the hood and trunk would not stay up or down.

Ignition switch -- we bought our 2010 gmc acadia from the fort worth federal community credit union in 2012.sometime in september 2013 we were on i-35w freeway driving from fort worth, texas to oklahoma.the speed was between 65-68 mph.suddenly, the acadia lost all power.i yelled ?what the hell!!?the rpms dropped drastically and the speedometer went down to the low 20s.i had no power steering.i did not turn off the key.i engaged my emergency flashers.with great strength managed to steer the acadia unto the emergency shoulder.while the car was coasting the engine cranked up again and speed increased to normal.i told my wife that maybe the engine ?vapor? locked.we discussed returning to fort worth but decided to continue thinking it was a ?vapor? lock.the acadia ran well to oklahoma and back home.it did not do it after that on the freeway.we noticed however that when slowing to about 5-10 mph to enter our driveway or other entrances, the power steering became very hard and difficult to control on several occasions.this problem occurred way before we had even heard of ?ignition switch? issues.the ignition switch has never been diagnosed as we did not think it was a problem at the time.had my wife been driving by herself, she would have panicked if she lost power on the freeway and was unable to control the vehicle to guide it out of traffic into a safe area from the heavily traffic freeway.will my car be in the recall for ignition switch..

The contact owns a 2010 gmc acadia. On several occasions, while driving, the vehicle failed to respond when the accelerator pedal was depressed. Additionally, the headlamp connector was replaced three times for overheating and melting the wires. The contact also stated that the front and rear windows were inoperable. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the failures were intermittent. The dealer and manufacturer were not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 112,000.

The main battery cable running from the battery located behind the passager's seat was resting on a bolt from the frame. The threads from the bolt cut through the battery cable and shorted out the electrical system causing the floor matting to catch fire while the vehicle was in motion. The engine shut down, causing a loss of power steering and brakes. Since it was the main battery cable the connects directly to the battery with no fuse, the short continued to spark. In the particual vehicle the battery is located inside the vehicle, below the passager side rear floor. The positive battery cable runs from there to inside the engine compartment to the alternator, with no fuse in between. I took the vehicle to the dealer and they said it was not a warranty issue. I raised the question with them about a recall and got no where. I did some searches on gmc blog sites and this issue has happened on a number of other vehicles, one leading to a wreck. Luckily i was at a stop light turning when it happened to me. If this would have happened on a freeway at freeway speeds, the story could have been much worse.

The contact 2010 gmc acadia.while parked the key could not be removed from the ignition. After several attempts the engine failed to start. Roadside assistance was able to start the engine, andengage the ignition key release control button which released the ignition key. The failure occurred on three seperate occasions. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer and thebattery was replaced. However, the ignition key continuously fails to release from the ignition switch.the dealer was notified, but no assistance was provided.the failure mileage was 200.the current mileage was 800.the vin was unavailable.

The contact owns a 2010 gmc acadia. The contact stated that after shifting to park, the key was unable to be removed from the ignition switch causing the vehicle to remain on and draining the battery. The contact also stated that the shift gear was very difficult to shift and after shifting to the drive position the shift indicator did not display the proper gear. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed that the shift cable failed. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 70,000. Djr

The contact owns a 2010 gmc acadia. While driving 30 mph, the contact smelled smoke. The bulb overheated and caused the socket and wires to burn and the headlight housing to melt. The contact mentioned that the vehicle was previously repaired under a manufacturer's recall for a related failure in 2013. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the bulb overheated and caused the socket, the wires, and the headlight housing unit to burn. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 65,279.

Please help

2010 acadia transmission and traction control safety problems.while driving 70mph on the highway, the traction control system alarm came on in addition to a flashing stability control and abs warning lights.the rear passenger wheel locked up, the transmission downshifted into 3rd gear causing the vehicle to veer into the right lane.additionally, we have been having power steering pum problems with the vehicle which made the vehicle difficult to control in this circumstance.fortunately, there was no other vehicle in the right lane and maanged to pul the vehile off the road.i had my family in the vehile at the time which made everyone very scared for their safety.the vehicle was turned off and restarted which erased the abs and traction control warnings, but the engine check light remained on and was unable to keep the transmission in drive.the dealer replaced some ecms, but could not fix the power steering issue.three weeks later, the transimission started shifting hard and after 2 visits to the dealer is not being ivestigated for another ecm failure.the electric systems and power steering issues make this is a very unsafe vehicle.

The brake lights will remain on at times even when the brakes are not being used. Also the traction control and electronic stability control will randomly turn off (frequently) and the dealerships are unable to tell me why and how to fix it. The cruise control at times will not work.

I have a 2010 gmc acadia. Several months ago i received the gm special coverage extended warrant letter # 14329. At that time, i had already noticed extreme difficulty in turning the wheel at low rates of speed and brushed it off as probably needing power steering fluid i also noticed a "whining" noise along with this action. I began to worry as the matter kept worsening and already still had trauma from a prior accident in 2010 which left me to purchase this vehicle in 2011 which i thought would be a more safe stable vehicle for me.upon a few weeks later, while trying to make a left hand turn maneuver, the steering wheel completely "locked" up! luckily, no oncoming traffic was in sight, otherwise, i would have been unable to get out of the way as i was in the middle of the highway! i immediately contacted the dealer and explained my issue and named the letter i had received a few months prior. Thus, an appointment was scheduled. I took my vehicle in on that specific day. The dealer contacts me to inform me that the pump was covered in the warrant but not the rack which they said was leaking on both sides (which is the most expensive part). My out of pocket expense of $1200.00 after labor and the alignment!! all the parts of thepower steering system should be paid for all expense by gm!! this is a tremendous safety issue and peoples lives are at danger! no one has $1200 to just drop on auto repair and i had to take out a loan!! what is gm waiting for hundreds of deaths?!!there's already a class action lawsuit filed gm 4-1-13. Gm needs to reimburse me and all others!! gm's ceo's need to do a major recall and take care of their customers. This is no joke and an extreme hazard! i'm also filing a complaint with gm as well.

The abs and the traction control light came on all of sudden when i was driving down the interstate and it just stays on.

After i pull into my driveway and put my car in park and turn off the ignition the car gets stuck in park and wont shift back out for hours. Also when i'm driving the car states that the engine is in reduced power and the traction control is off and to service stabilitrak. This is a common problem with this vehicle of all years from 2007 to the present it needs to be fixed 6 deaths so far and still no recall to fix my car i dont want to end up being another death if you dont fix this issue

Cruise control stopped working and then stability light, traction control light and abs lights all came on. Took it to get reprogrammed, happened again next day. Took it a second time happened again a week later. Took it again a 3rd time happening now a month later. So mad.

As car was accelerating to 30 mph in a lane of traffic into a turn, i heard a loud noise.then, i couldn't move the steering wheel. I tried to pump the brakes, but the car did not stop immediately.i had no control over the steering, and the car eventually stopped in a parking lot. I was petrified. The radio was still on, and the key was still in the on position, but the key could not be turned. Gmc simi valley says the problem was a rod to a cylinder that snapped, and was not due to an ignition problem, or related to a current recall.the whole engine needs to be replaced, almost the value of the car, given its current resale value.i would like to request an investigation into another recall event.

The contact owns a 2010 gmc acadia. After the vehicle was repaired according to nhtsa campaign number: 15v415000 (structure), the hatchback collapsed on the contact. No injuries were sustained. The failure was recurring. The contact stated that a loud abnormal noise could be heard coming from the hatchback motor. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the failure could not be determined. The vehicle was not repaired. In addition, the check engine light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the throttle body control module needed to be updated. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 127,681.

My wife's gmc acadia shut down while driving down expressway and lost all power and threw a cel. The diagnosis from the dealer mechanics was a stretched timing chain. I was told this is common and a scheduled maintenance part but nowhere in my manual does it state this. Also i contacted gm corporate to see if i could get help it being a safety issue for the shut down and was told it was out of warranty and there was nothing they could do. My vehicle has approximately 149,000 miles now i have to pay over $2000 to fix a known issue but the real problem was the unexpected shutdown and loss of control in the middle of rush hour traffic in a rain storm.fortunately my wife's quick thinking got her to safety but could have been much worse if she would have lost power in the middle of a busy intersection or an on ramp she could have been severely injured.i would like to see these problems resolved.

At 80,000 miles, after pulling out of parking, when i applied brakes the car started making rumbling noise from the engine and lurched forward despite pressing on brakes to stop. Pulled into a parking spot, while continuing to fight lurching of vehicle and turned car off to check engine oil, transmission oil, and power steering oil levels. All were fine. When attempted restart of vehicle, loud rumbling noise from engine, check engine light flickered and the car failed to start. Required a tow home from 100 miles away and $400. Hooked up obd, and received the following faults p0008, p0303, p0305, p0017, p0300, p0301. After researching on-line, common faults for timing chain issue estimate $3-4 thousand repair. Also, found 2007-2009 acadia received extended warranty for same issue. However, 2010 not covered despite finding approximately 15 identical 2010 gmc acadia on nhtsa site. I will be calling dealership first workday, however expect to be told timing chain issue based on codes and that gmc will not cover the repair since i am outside of the 5 year warranty, despite less than their 100,000 mile coverage.

Most of the acadia's 2007-2012 are affected by the timing chain being lose and gm has acknowledged this and extended the warranty. However, for some reason mine is not covered but is having this problem. Now i am $3600 out of pocket for the repair.

While i was driving tonight my vehicle shut off in mid turn causing loss of power steering. Where this happened is a very busy intersection. I had to pull over and when i put the car in park and restarted it came on for a second then shut off again. Then was able to get it running again. I had my wife and 6 month old daughter in the car and this could have been a very different outcome. I have read many of complaints online about this same problem in these vehicles. I really feel that gm needs to take a serious look at this issue before something major happens.

Vehicle is low mileage 62,500 miles just past 5 years by 3 months.timing chain started making noise for about a two weeks and get louder and check engine light came on due to mis fire.vehicle is driven by middle age female with not even a minor accident in 35 years.vehicle was maintained with regular oil changes.no apparent reason for the timing chain to make noise to the point of misfire.called dealer, bob ross gmc in dayton ohio on loop road and they refused to help out, claiming that it out of warranty, too bad sir.called gm and was told same. We asked if they have any reported problem on same issue and was told no.well, they lied to me or not even checking.i checked this site andthere were three reports of same timing chain.need to hold dealer and gm to own up to their defected parts.no rule made them to do that.i am voting with my feet.never buy a gm vehicle again !!!!!!

The vehicle started with a miss in the engine and took it to our local gmc dealership and they told us it would need a new engine because of the timing belt and being out of time, said it would be $5000. So we wanted a second opinion and had it towed to my mechanic which is a ase certified mechanic and he said the same thing but he said he could just replace the timing belt and get it going and he replaced it but its still out of time and it cost $3250. The gm dealership knew of the problem and said it was a common problem with them and that the 2009 model was covered under the engine recall but not 2010 or newer even though they know about it.had to end up buying another vehicle and still have the other one parked in the shed and cant drive it.

The contact owns a 2010 gmc acadia. While driving at an unknown speed, the service engine soon warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to nye buick gmc (located at 1421 genesee st, oneida, ny 13421, (315) 363-2200) where it was diagnosed that the timing chain needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 98,000. Consumer stated timing chains were replaced.

Gmc 2010 acadia.. 96,000 miles whenengine light with code p0008 indicating stretched timing chains.mechanic aware of extended warranty on 2007-2009 vehicles.called gmc, they said 2010 not covered.same engine as 2009 and not covered.failed inspection in nh due to code...$2300 in repairs needed.filed complaint with gmc...plan to print extensive complaints found here and heading to dealership where i bought it.

Timing chain needs to be replaces and isn't covered although it's the same parts as the 2009 model that is covered by the extended warranty.gmc is aware of this ongoing issue and should cover it

Timing chains stretch. Very common issue on this and other gm vehicles with 3.6l engine. Just purchased my vehicle and it's at the dealer for a $2600 repaor on this problem. Can happen at any mileage and without warning other than check engine light. Timing chains stretch causing engine to be out of sync and eventually engine damage/failure while driving. Minimum cost of repair is $2500+ as engine has to be removed to do the repair. Gm has knowledge of the problem and even issued extended special warranties to cover the problem on 2007-2009 models only even though 2010 and newer models have same problem with same engine. Any internet search will yield hundreds of other owners with same issue.

Owned the car for about a year with a 5 year, $20,000 loan attached to it. The car randomly started smoking and all kinds of warning lights went off on the way back from the store (about a mile away). I immediately pulled over and walked home, went back after a couple hours to let it cool down andit wouldn't start. I had it towed to the repair shop and it was deemed my car with around 80,000 miles on it had a blown engine due to something with belt (same issue 2009 model was recalled for) and it was going to cost out of my own pocket $7500 to replace it with a used engine with no guarantee that the replacement engine won't have the exact same issue. In the 3 weeks it took us to decide on if it was even possibly to come up with that much money, engine prices had rose another $500 because they are in such hot demand. Ended up having to let the bank repo it, ruining my credit, no vehicle to take my newborn twins to their doctor appointments, or anyway to get to work. Gmc needs to be held accountable for not promptly responding to this defect instead of turning a blind eye. I cannot wait for the day a class action suit is filed.

Timing chain issues. I am about to pay $2500.00 to replace the timing chains. I keep reading that the problem was solved, but since so many people are still having to problem, i guess they haven't fixed the problem

I'm filing a complaint about my model year 2010 gmc acadia. My check engine light has come on at 96,000.the code is p0008.this code points to the timing chain.this is a known issue with gmc acadia's and is the same issue that caused gmc to extend their powertrain warranty on 2009 model acadia's to 120,000 mile or 10 years.gmc is not offering to extend my warranty to 120,000 miles or 10 years even though i'm experiencing the same problem that caused them to extend 2009 model cars.my car was manufactured in oct 2009.

The contact owns a 2010 gmc acadia. The contact stated while driving 45 mph, the vehicle began to idle rapidly and smoke was exiting the hood. The contact stated there was no warning light illuminated. The contact was able to park on the side of the road for approximately an hour before driving to her residence. The contact never saw a fire while examining the vehicle. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed with needing the timing chain to be replaced along with an oil leak. The vehicle was not repaired. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.

The cam shaft engine correlation code indicated stretched timing and chain guides. Extended warrantees up to 10 years and 120,000 miles have been offered for 2007 and 2009 gmc acadias with the same problem. To date they have not been offered for the 2010 model even though it's the same issue.

The cam shaft engine correlation code indicated stretched timing and chain guides. To date they have not been offered for the 2010 model even though it's the same issue.mine failed at 63,000.00 miles. Had to have the timing chains replaced.dealership repaired with gm paying half.this should be a recall due to the fact my car was manufactured in 2009 and should fall under the above mentioned recall as the failure is for the same reason.

Stretched timing chain

Check engine light is on. Vehicle is showing a p0008 code with 92,000 miles this is a crankshaft misalignment that i was told means the timing chain will need to be replaced. This is apparently a widespread issue amongst gmc acadia owners.

The contact owns a 2010 gmc acadia. The contact stated that the vehicle experienced stalling. In addition, the exterior headlamps melted the wires and the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the timing chain fractured and the wires needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vin and failure mileage were not provided.

2010 gmc acadia possible timing chain stretch issue.purchased vehicle used 2 yrs ago now have 96k miles on it.yesterday car wouldn't start after being drive 10 minutes earlier.pulled codes and all pointed to the 1,3, and 5 cylinder ignition issue.cleared codes and seemed to be fine, drove 20 miles with deep resonate sound at cruise that went away when accelerating and decelerating.drive back home sound remained the same and check engine light came back on.pulled codes once again and different set came up with p0008, p0016, and p0017 signifying timing issues which makes me believe timing chain stretch.i think i might be in for an expensive fix but most i want this reported to manufacturer to maybe be the last straw to include my year vehicle recall.any info would be appreciated.

2010 gmc acadia with check engine light indicating a timing chain problem. Recall exists from gmc for this problem for earlier model years but does not include 2010 models. The repair requires the engine and transmission to be pulled from the vehicle and extensive disassembly.repair cost is over $3,000. Numerous reports of this defect have been reported and gmc refuses to expand it's recall warranty to include 2010 models.

Check engine light came on. Dealer says timing chain is bad and could be related to not properly changing oil. Car was purchased brand new with 22 miles from gmc dealer. Oil was changed regularly in accordance with percentage level given from computer in car.

My acadia is throwing p0008 code.it began having power issues not being able to accelerate and pulling up the smallest hills. All ofthis started going 70mph down the interstate. Not a good spot or time to decelerate.also started having a very rough idle.it is at a gmc dealer now and am being told timing chain will have to be replaced. Was told this is a known problem and should report it since it is the same problem on the 2009 and those were covered under warranty }:(

Just purchased a 2010 gmc acadia.130,000 miles and has stretched timing chains. P0008 comes up when attached to reader.sound like this has been a problem on the 3.6 motor for years and gm still has not fixed the issues.thought with the 2010 and newer i would of been safe, guess i should have dug a bit deeper while researching my new purchase.

The contact owns a 2010 gmc acadia. The contact stated that while driving at 70 mph, the engine stalled as the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was able to restart. The failure occurred twice. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic but the failure was unable to be determined. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 63,000. .....updated 04/15/16 the consumer stated stalled 2nd time and towed over 100 miles.

Check engine light: timing chains stretched.check engine light came on.i took the vehicle to the local dealership where i have service performed.the service representative informed me this was a stretched timing chain issue - a common issue with gmc acadias.i was informed that if/when it "breaks", i can lose power to the vehicle while driving.i asked another repair center for a second opinion and while informing the service technician of having a timing chain problem on my vehicle (without providing make/model of vehicle), the service technician guessed that i had a gmc acadia as this was a common problem with them.i checked my warranties as i currently have 103,000 miles.none of my active warranties cover it.i called gmc directly and was informed by the customer service representative that they are aware this is an issue but it has not reached a level to which gmc will extend any type of special coverage for vehicles when this fails.since this is an extremely expensive fix, i am stuck with deciding if i should go in debt fixing a 6 year old vehicle or risking it and driving it until it fails, potentially leaving myself at risk for an accident.this is ridiculous that it is a common issue that was addressed in 2007 and 2009 models but hasn't been addressed yet for the 2010 model.

The contact owns a 2010 gmc acadia. When the heat or air conditioning system was activated, a fuel odor emitted inside the vehicle. The dealer diagnosed that the hvac system failed and needed a filter installed. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 47,125.

Having the same check engine light/timing chain stretch issue. After researching i found that these models oil change cycle were to be set at 3000 miles. I also know that this is an issue on models through at least 2012 but gm still has not issued a recall on these models.

My timing chain was replaced under warranty 4 year and 50,000 miles ago. Now i am having to replace it again. I contact gmc about recall10287 premature chain wear for reprogramming of the engine control module. I was told this does not apply to my year and there was no part listed because it just a general statement. Not sure where to go from here. Here is my case # for gmc 8-4704107640. I am still awaiting the part information from them.

After my 2010 acadia sat in a hotel parking lot for 19 hours after a drive from san diego to kansas city, it overheated the minute i started it. The air started blowing warm air, it stated "powering down engine", & the temp gage maxed out. I immediately turned off the car. At less than 36k on a car that has been driven minimally, this should never happen. And now.... Since it is "over 3 years old", it's probably not covered. $40k vehicle with 30k miles on it and already overheating? we had our vehicle for the last 2.5 years in hawaii, so it's not a climate problem. :-/

Without any warning, car died while driving. Timing chain apparently stretched after only 39,000 miles. This is the second timing chain i have to replace. Gmc has extended the warranty for several models to 120,000 but not my year!

The contact owns a 2010 gmc acadia. While driving 45 mph, the throttle malfunctioned and the vehicle accelerated rapidly without warning on more than one occasion. The contact stated that the vehicle accelerated to 95 mph. The contact was able to slow the vehicle down by depressing the brake pedal with both feet. Bessette motors in carrington, north dakota was made aware of the failure and replaced the throttle body, but the failure recurred. In addition, the pedal positioning sensor was replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 85,000. The vin was not available.

On 9 apr 2016 on the way to a church function, our 2010 acadia told us it was reducing engine power and started missing and smoking a little. Thankfully we were just blocks from the house, so we turned around and limped it home.later i moved it from the driveway to the street.this time, while still missing, the vehicle put out a dense fog of white smoke that smelled of gasoline. Thankfully no one lite a match.i used my obd ii code reader to get failure codes p0087 and p0089 indicating low fuel rail pressure and injector issues.subsequent research on-line led me to tsb pip4924d (nhtsa# 100419330).i now am of the opinion that the issue is likely a fuel injector that is stuck open likely due to a fuel injector control line that is shorting to ground due to bad manufacturer design or improper maintenance by dealers fixing other issues.i view this issue as a huge safety problem. I can think of all sorts of scenarios where this could cause danger to the vehicle driver and passengers.a little about me ... I've been working on cars for the last 48 years and hold a bs in electrical engineering.anyone is welcome to contact me at [xxx].(unrelated ... I was also disappointed to learn from one dealer when fixing an a/c issue that my brake booster drum was contaminated with brake fluid due to a bad seal i guess.that fix was costly and likely should have been on the manufacturer also).information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Check engine light came on and i took the vehicle to the local dealership. The service representative informed me this was a stretched timing chain issue - a common issue with gmc acadias. Upon searching the internet for error code p0008 it pulls up loads of information regarding the acadia timing chain issue. In fact, model years 2007 through 2009 had an extended warranty issued for them up to 120,000 miles for this exact same issue. My vehicle is a 2010 and is experiencing the same issue that was recalled, and my vehicle was most likely manufactured during the time they were experiencing timing chain issues. My timing chain failed at only 71,000 miles, well below the recommended timeline. I called gmc to file a claim and see if they would cover this under some warranty. I was told by the representative that they were aware of these problems but since i purchased the vehicle used, there was nothing they would do for me. I have performed all maintenance on the vehicle at the recommended intervals and still experienced a failure. This was an extremely expensive fix that was unacceptable since it should not have happened in the first place. Gmc should stand by their products when they are aware of issues like this.

I own a 2010 gmc acadia. The code that was being thrown was p0008. I had to have the chains and actuators replaced in the engine. After paying for that the check engine light is back on again, so the vehicle is back at the shop again. There is a service bulletin out for 2007-2012 however, the extended warranty is only for 2007-2009. This is a known issue that gmc needs to take care of. Seems to me that the lemon law may apply as i am seeing more and more people having this same issue. Maybe we should contact an attorney to get gmc to take care of this issue.

The contact owns a 2010 gmc acadia. The contact stated thatthe check engine warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to hendrick buick gmc cary (115 team hendrick way, cary, nc 27511, (919) 234-7784) where it was diagnosed that the timing belt needed to be repaired. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 53,366.

The timing chain needs to be replaced on the 2010, which is the same issue gmc had with the 2009s, however, the 2010 isn't covered, but the 2009 was.i've read that gmc knows that there is an issue, but they just aren't covering it yet.

The contact owns a 2010 gmc acadia. While driving 70 mph, the vehicle decelerated. The contact was able to safely maneuver the vehicle over to the shoulder without power steering or braking ability. Also, the check engine indicator illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the contact's home. The dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 130,000. The vin was unknown.

The contact owns a 2010 gmc acadia. While driving at an unknown speed, the check engine light illuminated. The contact also stated that the rpm would not operate properly and the vehicle stalled more than once. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated that the timing chain was loose and the cam sensor needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 105,000.

In 2013 gmc sent a letter that the engine coolant may leak from the water pump shaft seal and results in water pump failure. They said do not take your vehicle in unless you think you have a leak. They also said if this condition occurs within 10 yrs of the date your vehicle was originally placed in service or 120,000 miles they will cover repairs. However, at the end it says all work has to be completed by october 31, 2014. By july 2019 before the 10 yrs and the 120,000 my vehicle failed on the highway. The coolant leaking on the transfer case/axel from the water pump caused it to fail and needed to be replaced. They did not honor reimbursement and made the terms of their warning confusing and difficult to participate in. While driving on the highway the vehicle began to shake and black smoke spilled out from the hood.

The contact owns a 2010 gmc acadia. While driving 45 mph, the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the timing chain and crankshaft needed replacement. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The vin was invalid. The failure mileage was 84,823.

While driving the check engine light came on.the dealership read the code and diagnosed that the timing chains needed to be replaced.unsafe condition that can cause the engine to stop running while being driven at highway speeds.my research showed gm extended warranty and covers costs for timing chain replacement on the 3.6 engines for the 2007-2009 model years, but not the 2010.the problem with the 2007-2009 models were the car's computer alerting the engine oil needed to be changed too late and dirty oil was restricted from going to lubricate the timing chains and resulted in the timing chains stretching and wearing prematurely.i have contacted gm and they will not provide any coverage for the 2010 models.same problem in the 2007-2009 models is covered.

Car has been serviced regularly. Engine was running smooth.drove approximately 30 miles on hwy to work got off on city street and car started shaking bad.pulled over into parking spot and engine cut off.wouldn't restart.called towing to our repairshop. The first cylinder spark plug was bent resulting in major engine failure due to timing belt stretch.need a new engine and found that this is big problem with gmc engines. Bought the car less than a year ago and it currently has 138k miles.7k to replace engine including labor.wow mother of 3 kids and i'm still paying big payment for the car and insurance.. So many complaints about this issue i just found out with gmccovering the issue up and not being responsible

Check engine light came on.took it to dealer and was told the error code indicated the timing chain tension was loose. Dealer said they would have to remove the engine to repair the timing chain.i was told by the dealer that this was a common problem with this engine and that all of the cars built in 2007, 2008, and 2009 were recalled and the warranty was extended to cover this problem.they said that the problem was resolved and the problem no longer affects this engine.it seems that the problem has not been fixed because the same problem has happened to my 2010 gmc acadia. The dealer agreed that this is the same problem but gmc will not cover the repair on this vehicle.i have reached out to general motors customer care department but they will not help with this issue.i was told that they changed suppliers and the timing chain problem is no longer a problem.well it sure seems like it still is a problem.i have a friend that has the same vehicle same year and his check engine light is on.i asked him to have it checked and he has the same problem.i can give you the owners name and vin if needed to verify.i have changed the oil at the recommended intervals and have receipts for all maintenance.i found this information for reference " the nhtsa and gm reference numbers for the tsb-nhtsa reference- 10043857tsb reference- sb-11340.

Timing chain issues. Failed tensioner. 114,00 miles

Having the same check engine light/timing chain stretch issue. After researching i found that these models oil change cycle were to be set at 3000 miles. Ours has been 5000 miles since we bought it brand new in march 2010. I also know that this is an issue on models through at least 2012 but gm still has not extended the warranty to the same 10 years/120,000 miles as the 2007-2009 models. Our acadia has only 87,000 miles. This is a $3000 fix for an issue that gm knows is a problem.

My check engine light was on so i took it to my mechanic because i need an inspection sticker. Found out today after i took it to a gmc dealer that i now need to replace my timing chain. I've only owned the car a year and a half. I bought an extended power train warranty but doubt its covered. This should be covered by the recall, it seems to be an issue for more than just me.

The contact owns a 2010 gmc acadia. While driving various speeds, the vehicle stalled and the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was able to restart on the third attempt; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was determined that the timing chain fractured and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vin was unknown. The failure mileage was approximately 91,000.

Timing chain failure on the engine around 84,000 miles. Dealer and gm recommended a full engine replacement (initially, all costs to replace on me). Replacement engine (rebuild/ re manufacture) was then recalled in april 2016 for faulty piston rings. This engine was replaced at no cost. Please investigate this engine / model years!

Took the car in to have check engine light diagnoised. Dealer advised that the timing chain needs replacement. Estimate is $3300+gm knows about the problems with timing chains in the 07-09 acadias, and have provided assistance to owners of those vehicles.it's clear to me they haven't got the problems solved yet. 2010 acadia111,000 km(69,000 mi)synthetic oil changed @ 10,000 km intervals

I was driving the car on the highway and smoke started coming out of the engine. Later it was determined that the engined died - there was never ever warning lights or warning that there was trouble with the car. It is a 3.6l sidi vg engine. It was very unfortunate as we haven't even owned the car for a year before it was completely dead. The cost was way too high too fix so we ended up giving it to a salvage place and bought a 2009 gmc acadia. Not even a year into that car and it also needs a new engine. Same engine, a 3.6l sidi v6 engine. Our auto place said they are having a hard time finding that engine because many people need that engine for the exact same problem. Can not be a coincidence. I have contacted gmc and they don't care.

Just bought my arcadia july 2015back in december the engine came on had it checked out and error code p00008 was detectedgmc doesn't have a recall on this it obvious that this problem isn't resolved i'm paying $16000 for a vehicle that i have to invest more intomoney into that i haven't even a year yet every where i look about details about this problem i keep finding the same answers it would be great if they would fix this problem because i really like my vehicle but i will not invest $3000 + in a vehicle that i still owe on and it's the manufacturerliability to replace!!!

I purchased this vehicle on june 25 ,2020 and on august 19,2020 it broke down on the expressway while i was transferring from one hospital to another hospital with me i'll 3 year old .i replaced the battery and starter it still would not crank i sent it to buick gmc in morrow and they told me that the motor was completely gone. I paid my car note up until february 5,2021 and i don't have a vehicle because it needs a new motor.

At 60,000.00 thousand miles my timing chains needed replaced (just like the 2009 which has a recall) then at 79,000 miles my wave plate cracked on my transmission (which there is a recall on the 2009 model for the exact same thing) my car was a early 2010 model and it looks like the 2009 issues are problems on my car. I think it's insane that gm can't stand behind their work better than this.the recall's should cover the 2010 models that were manufactured with 2009 parts!!!

Check engine light came on. Took it to check the codes and mechanic says that my timing chain in stretched. There is only 114,xxx miles on it. It's going to cost a lot to get it fixed.

Timing chain needed replacement due to stretch and check engine light at 137,882 which cost $2,049.this issue was covered under special warranty for 2007-2009 model years, but the 2010 is not covered.my understanding of gmc's fix is that nothing changed with the timing chain and the oil system life was lowered as to when an oil change was recommended by the vehicle (more frequent oil changes).i have completed all scheduled oil changes based on the automated prompt from the vehicle and still had to complete this costly repair out of pocket.i would like to see this known issue also covered by the special warranty on newer vehicles and be reimbursed for my expenses.

The contact owns a 2010 gmc acadia. The contact was in the process of trading in the vehicle. While driving approximately 15 mph, the vehicle suddenly stalled. The contact had the vehicle towed. A certified mechanic diagnosed that the motor burned an excessive amount of oil, which caused the failure. The vehicle was inoperable. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the repair was not covered. The approximate failure mileage was 106,000.

Car would not start after putting gas in it. We took it to the mechanic that replaced the timing chain and he said the engine went out of timing caused the engine to be out of time, combust, and destroy the engine.

The contact owns a 2010 gmc acadia. While driving 35 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was 167,000.

Since i got the car set 2012 have stink coming from air vent a/c sometimes pretty bad now in spring when the a/c is on have a weird noise and is not cool at all and i can fell the moistbesides i can see a smoke coming from the a/c vent. I now is a liking probably from the water pump. I just received a letter from a gmc seeing that they know this problem (water pump shaft seal) and they just going to add engine coolant to fix the problem. This have to be a recall. We bought expensiveus cars don't sales us junk.

The contact owns a 2010 gmc acadia. The contact was driving 70 mph and the vehicle started sputtering as if the vehicle was out ofgasoline and then it stalled. There was gasoline in the fuel tank at the time of the failure. The check engine light came on before the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was towed to the dealer and after three days, the contact was told that there was an engine failure.the failure and current mileages were 9,000.according to the invoice, the valve spring broke and went through the cylinder and seized. My husband and i purchased a 2010 gmc acadia in july 2012. Since we've had the vehicle we have already had to replace the water pump which fortunately it was covered under warranty. But now the ac in the vehicle has stopped working. The technician did a black light testing of the ac and it revealed large areas of ultra-violet dye covering the ac hoses and surrounding area. They recharged a small amt of r-134a freon into the system to help pinpoint the leak to the suction and discharge hoses which have blown. When they checked on ordering the hoses, these hoses are on backorder which leads me to believe they have been having numerous problems with these hoses. Now we're looking at being out $700 for a vehicle that is only 3 yrs old.

2010 gmc acadia.consumer writes in regards to vehicle steering issue.the consumer stated the steering would become stiff and made turning difficult at low speeds and the engine would also race at a low steady speed without acceleration. The consumer's private mechanic, informed her, the steering gear was leaking and recommended she take the vehicle to the dealer. The dealer replaced the steering gear and front wheel drive shaft seal. The vehicle was returned to her. However, five days later, the consumer experienced the issue again, with the engine racing and the tight steering. The vehicle was taken to the dealer again, but the dealer was unable to replicate the problem. When she left the dealer, the engine raced again. She went back to the dealer, and left the vehicle. The mechanic diagnosed the problem as timing chain issue. The timing chain and tensioner were replaced, as well as the steering rack and pinion. Between may 2013 and august 2013, the consumer continued to experience several sporadic incidents of the power steering failing or significantly tightening on low speeds. Also, a noise and vibration developed in the right front side of the vehicle.the consumer was informed the motor mount was loose.

Water leak into the ac- blower fan, the major safety issue here is the front defroster wont be working simply cause the fan stops working due to it being submerged in water.this issue has been noted by many users and requires investigation, i believe.here is a detailed link to a youtube showing the exact same issue, and i will attach pictures from my own car with the problem shown,https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fnykjlhusxii went to a service center where the tech. Told me he has seen many of these and it is caused by a faulty hose connector and the dash has to be taken out to get it fixed.please watch the video on youtube.thank you.

Excessive soot from exhaust system, car is white, rear is covered with bits of soot ever since i purchased the vehicle in aug 2010 till to day aug 2011. Dealer stated noting is wrong because the "check engine" light is not on.on start up after overnight parked-there is a visible puff of black smoke. Vehicle had 2800 miles, the dealer told me that it needed to be driven, so i drove 2000 miles in a week, it made no sense to me and it did not make a difference. A chevy dealer told me he has had similar complaints on traverse model (same engine) but they cannot figure it out. I'm a former wheel vehicle maintenance officer us army, this is not normal for an engine exhaust to emit soot.it is a sign that there is unburned fuel in the cylinders. I average 14.5 mpg. And i believe there is a fuel leak or fuel bypass into the cylinders when the vehicle is parked due to the pressurized fuel system or just too much fuel that is not efficiently burned being allowed to enter the engine.

The contact owns a 2010 gmc acadia. While the contact started the ignition a substantial amount of blue and black smoke emitted from the rear exhaust tail pipe for 35-40 seconds. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where they informed him that the vehicle functioned as designed. The approximate failure mileage was 34.

We have a 2010 gmc acadia that has had multiple low beam headlights going out.the whole headlight assembly has been an issue as per many complaints in various forums online.gmc knows they have issues with the power to these units and will not do anything to replace.i have replaced seven low beams in total between both lights.these can go out and come back on at various times also giving the drivers a false sense of security.i have included word doc of online communication today after removal of personal information with gmc and the only solution is at a local service gmc level.the ending comment speaks volumes that if gmc sees enough complaints they will then consider a recall.being a fire chief i believe this is totally unacceptable due to the possible loss of headlamps.the other note was my mileage was to high as my vehicle was just over 100,000 miles.this issue was taking place for the last few years.they need to do a recall on all of these headlight assemblies.i have dated this issue today even though the last time this issue started was about 4 months ago.

While driving my 2009 gmc acadia the passenger low beam went out. Upon opening the hood when i stopped i noticed the distinct odor of burnt plastic. Upon further evaluation while removing the bulb i observed that the insulation for the wiring harness had melted off and shorted at the interface between the wire and connector. The contact for the bulb also exhibited charring at the connector contact. An internet search for a replacement bulb alerted me that there is a service bulletin (09-08-42-004) addressing the replacement of this harness should the headlight fail. I feel this is a oem design flaw and safety issue since the harness can short out to the point to where the insulation is melted completely off exposing bare wires.

The transmission slips.when you start the vehicle it sometimes starts in the wrong gear and needs to be shut off an restarted, otherwise it runs on too many rpm.at times when pushing on the gas, after a stop at a light, it does not move for a while.when it does move it jerks and abruptly starts.the running day head lamp overheats and burns out the light bulb, causing it to explode.

My headlights on my 2010 gmc acadia go out numerous times a year. Typically one headlight will burn out and a few days later the other headlight burns out. We replace the headlight usually but this time we went to replace the build and the new bulb wouldn't work. This is getting extremely costly to replace he bulbs a few times a year and. Is we might have an even bigger problem with the new bulb not working at all. When the headlights stop working sometimes they will come back on then go off again then come back on and then eventually burn the bulb. Typically all this happens when the car is just started.. I bought this car new and we've had nothing but problems with it. It's in he shop getrjfn fixed a few times a year.

Noticed drivers side daytime running light was out on gmc acadia 2010. Husband went to replace bulb and discovered housing had completely melted( headlight still worked), he then decided to check passenger light that still worked and it is melted too! this has to be dangerous. I am contacting gmc to see what they can do.this should definitely be a recall.

2008 gmc acadia sl right (passenger side) low beam connector and bulb burn't and wires have been melted .

The drivers and passengers headlights keep burning out. I have replaced the drivers side 3 times and the passenger side 2 times in the last 6 months. This is very dangerous as this is a family car and this has happened while driving down the road.

The contact owns a 2010 gmc acadia. On several occasions, while driving, the vehicle failed to respond when the accelerator pedal was depressed. Additionally, the headlamp connector were replaced for overheating and melting. The vehicle was taken to a dealer (bob howard buick gmc address: 13300 broadway ext, oklahoma city, ok 73114)the vehicle was diagnosed but not repaired. The diagnosis was failed headlamps the contact stated that the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified however offered no assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000. Tp

The driver's side low beam light kept going off and on. A week later i pulled the bulb to find the wire connector melted. I called gmc and found out they do not make the pigtail and i would have to replace the whole wire harness for all of the lights. I checked on acadia forum.net and seen where gmc acadia has had this issue since 2008 and have done nothing about it. I will be checking for after market places to get a pigtail for the assembly, but it is my belief that if gmc would have manufactured this correctly, there wouldn't be an issue.

The abs and the traction control light came on all of sudden when i was driving down the interstate and it just stays on.

Low beam headlight bulb continues to overheat, blow out and melt housing unit around bulb. Gmc states it is my responsibilty to replace it because now my vehicle is out of warranty, even when my vehicle was in warranty when this started. Estimated cost $915. I have had the headlight bulbs replaced at least 3 times within 6-7 months. I have had to pay for the bulb and "labor" which could run as high as $50 a hour.

The contact owns a 2010 gmc acadia. The contact stated that the driver's side headlight assembly fractured. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was confirmed that the assembly fractured. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure and current mileages were approximately 60,000. The vin was unavailable.

Drivers side and passengers front headlights, these lights i have replaced multiple times even getting a ticket for 1 instance this is a safety related issue that needs to be fixed by gm

The brake lights will remain on at times even when the brakes are not being used. Also the traction control and electronic stability control will randomly turn off (frequently) and the dealerships are unable to tell me why and how to fix it. The cruise control at times will not work.

Have to replace low beam lights every 3-4 months. Lights burn out. Have tried multiple brands all from advanced auto parts. This has been going on for 4 years.

A few months after purchasing a certified 2010 acadia the passenger low beam would work intermittent.i took it to the dealer and was told it would cost me over $1000 for them to fix it even though it was still under warranty.i few months later the passenger side low beam started to do the same.i again took it to the dealer and was told it was not there problem and would fix it if i paid for the fix. Now neither low beam will work and i have to use the fog lights if i want to drive at night.the visibility is terrible and unsafe.this was an issue gm and the dealer knew before selling the vehicle to me.

The contact owns a 2010 gmc acadia. The contact stated that the headlight melted and left a hole in the lamp. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who replaced the headlight assembly, but the failure recurred. The contact called victory chevrolet buick at 734-245-2569 (located at 1250 dexter st, milan, mi 48160) and was informed that there was no recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and also stated that there was no recall. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.

For the last few weeks, the fuel light in my wife's 2010 acadia will not go off.we took it to the dealership.they told us there was too much alcohol in the fuel, @ 12%, and if it reached 15%, they would need to drop the fuel tank.they said to run a couple of tanks of 93 octane through the vehicle and it should correct itself.after 8 tanks of 93 octane at $3/gallon, the light it still on.gas stations do not readily advertise or display the % of alcohol in their fuel, much less if alcohol is even in the fuel.it seems a bit disingenuous on the part of gm to have this problem with the acadia, knowing how alcohol is used in fuel these days.we paid a lot of money for this vehicle, but can't afford to run 93 octane through it the rest of the time we own it.i've been a big supporter of gm, but this is very frustrating and incredibly disappointing.

The contact owns a 2010 gmc arcadia. The contact stated that while traveling 20 mph, the power steering failed and there was an abnormal noise coming from the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a private mechanic where it was diagnosed that the transmission and system fluid needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure and current mileage was 54,000.

The cam shaft engine correlation code indicated stretched timing and chain guides. Extended warrantees up to 10 years and 120,000 miles have been offered for 2007 and 2009 gmc acadias with the same problem. To date they have not been offered for the 2010 model even though it's the same issue. Mine failed at 51,000 miles. Had to have the timing chains replaced. Dealership repaired with gm paying half. This should be a recall due to the fact my car was manufactured in 2009 and should fall under the above mentioned recall as the failure is for the same reason. I am concerned why special coverage #11340 does not apply to 2010 vehicles of this nature as there are many issues with this that have not been resolved in the 2010 vehicle.

Engine light prompted a trip to the gmc dealer to have the vehicle checked out. We were told it was the timing chain and it was a know problem, however gmc is not covering it.also transmission is slipping and needs to be replaced gmc acadia are known for both problems and will not fix.it's going to cost around $5,000 to fix both these need to be recalled,i had a case open with gmc and they will cover nothing. Worst suv ever

When i need to drive from a slow speed to a high speed like when entering a freeway the rpm's start going crazy. When i press on the gas the car barely moves and the rpm's go way up and don't stop until i pull over. I had a car behind me that almost crashed into me because my vehicle would not accelerate. I took it to a repair shop and was told that it needs a new transmission and this vehicle is known for having a bad transmission. Turns out that there was a recall for the same issue on the 08-09's and mine is a 2010 that recall was #14404 special coverage transmission clutch wave plate. I am sure that this one needs to be recalled as well. This is a huge safety hazard someone could get hurt really bad.

Transmission control modual and the wavy plate- transmission rebuild- transmission failure

The contact owns a 2010 gmc acadia. While driving various speeds, the gear shift failed to work. The vehicle was taken to the dealer (henry brown buick gmc located at 1550 e drivers way, gilbert, az 85297; (480) 835-0900). The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure recurred several other times. The manufacturer was not contacted and was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 70,529.

I have to keep adding power steering fluid to my car.i have been told that my power train will need to be replaced and that gmc is aware of this problem with the acadia's and refuses to fix the problem.

The contact owns a 2010 gmc acadia. The contact stated that the transmission failed. The vehicle lost acceleration and emitted a whining noise. The failure was experienced numerous times. The dealer diagnosed that there was a failure code related to the transmission. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The vin was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000.

Car rolls back when on a hill while in drive at traffic light or stop sign.

The timing chain needs to be replaced on the 2010, which is the same issue gmc had with the 2009s, however, the 2010 isn't covered, but the 2009 was.i've read that gmc knows that there is an issue, but they just aren't covering it yet.

Gmc knew of timing chain issues for 2007-2009 and extended the warranty for 10 year 120,000 miles.they continue to have the same timing chain issues through 2010 models and will not replace them under this warranty.my acadia is 2010 model, but manufactured in 2009 and gmc will not assist with the replacement of the stetched timing chain.they pride themselves for "consumer satisfaction protection" but will not stand up to their product under for issues they are fully aware of.

Power chain went out while taking a corner and almost put my husband and daughter in the ditch, he stopped and almost got rear-ended. Multiple people have told me this is an issue with this vehicle, this could have caused a major accident.

Transmision slips in drive on hills. It actually rolls backwards when you take your foot of the brake. Even when the transmision is in gear

We bought our 2010 acadia certified used with 60,000. Water pump went out, navigational system stop working and i noticed a hesitation in shifting from time to time but not consistent. This all right after purchasing. The dealership fixed water pump as it was still under warranty. I took the vehicle in for a recall notice and asked if they could find what was wrong with the dvd/cd player, was told i needed a new radio. I also told the mechanic i thought something was wrong with the transmission, that issue was not addressed as though i hadn't mentioned it. So i went online to see if i could find a way to fix the dvd/cd player myself and that's when i found all these other acadia owners with the same issues...so i thought it best to get rid of this time bomb before its too late. Went to trade it in on a used vehicle, salesmen drove it, brought it back and told us they would have to take 3000. Off for bad transmission. I contacted gmc all they would do was give us 2000. Toward a new or lease vehicle. This is a defect in manufacturing, its not a quality product as we thought we had purchased.this is the way of the world today, no accountability, no ethical responsibility. Its your problem gmc, fix it!!!i am looking to get a class action lawsuit started.

This has happened several times since i've bought this truck last year. Right after i bought it, i had to pay out of pocket to have the power steering box replaced ($1200.00) since then, while driving my steering gets hard to turn either way and the engine even stopped running a few weeks ago while on the interstate, i had to pull off the road. The truck also makes a popping sound while turning too. Since i have bought the truck, i have had nothing but problems, within 2 weeks of buying it, i had transmission leak and oil leak that had to be fixed. I want so bad to get out of this truck. I am the sole provider in my home, single mother of 3 kids and this vehicle is used for our daily commutes and my job. When slowing down to come to a stop the truck also lunges forward a few times before stopping completely. Also when going down the road the rpm will lunge up for no reason and you can hear it like it is trying to shift to a higher gear or like i have pressed the gas, which i had not.

My acadia started acting up and shifting gears hard when going up mountains thenit started not wanting to change gears from 3 to 4 and the code ran was shifter stuck also once getting it in the shop was reading 3 other transmission codes and was told my transmission will need to be rebuilt for $2800.00 i was also told that this vehicle when made was notorious for transmission issues and that gm was covering the problem up to 100k miles mine now has 168k but i was never told and it didn't show as a recall to have anything done about this. As a single mother of 3 $2800. Isn't easy to just come up with especially after having has other problems that had to be fixed. What can be done about this?

The contact owns a 2010 gmc acadia. While making a left turn at an unknown speed, the vehicle jerked violently and the steering wheel seized. The contact had to forcefully turn the steering wheel. The dealer was unable to diagnose the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 51,000.

My car has less than 73000 miles on it and the engine light came on. The code indicated it was the timing chain. The car broke down on the highway and had to be towed to a repair shop. After researching the problem, i discovered that this same problem has happened to a very large number of owners of both chevrolet traverse and gmc acadia. The problem was suppose to have been fixed after 2009 but 2010's and later models are still having this problem. Something needs to be done about this. Gm will not help with repairs even though the vehicle has less than 100,000 miles on it. That was the only running vehicle we had!

Engine light prompted a trip to the gmc dealer to have the vehicle checked out. We were told it was the timing chain and it was a know problem, however gmc is not covering it. What? really? so, we have to pay 3000 bucks for gmc known problem. Never buying another gmc.

79,100.00 miles waveplate failure.entire transmission rebuild required.

First problem is that the power steering is hard to turn when not moving or while driving at slower speeds as if there is no power steering at all. Second problem is the transmission occasionally will not shift from 1st gear which will cause me to pull over to a complete stop then accelerate again allowing it to shift.

After taking vehicle to dealership and paying to have the evap system fixed my check engine light came back on before ever leaving the dealership. No codes would show when checked. Now they are saying that it must be the timing chain and that it will cost over $2000 to repair. I have spoken to several other mechanics who have stated that it is a known problem in this model car. After checking it seems that several other years have been recalled and no changes were made to the product but yet the 2010 is not included but it is a known defect in that year as well. I believe gmc should be required to fix this since it is a know defective system.

While driving, my transmission was slipping occasionally and then it became a daily occurrence and multiple times a day occurance. When it slipped, i could feel it and the rpms would increase. I took it to a local transmission shop and it turned out to be a 3/5 wave plate failure. The broken parts damaged the rest of my transmission and i had to have a complete rebuild. I was lucky that i brought it in to be checked as i found out that this issue could have caused the transmission to fail completely which could have put the occupants of my vehicle at risk of injury or death due to an accident caused by loss of power due to a drivetrain failure. I have also read that there was a recall for the same issue on the 07-09's and that recall was #14404 special coverage transmission clutch wave plate. I have also read that the same part was used in 2010 but that gm refuses to extend this to 2010 models even though 2009 parts were used.i have contacted gm and they are telling me that my vin is not included. It should be since my vehicle was made in 2009.

While in drive, going uphill, for example an up ramp in a parking garage, the car rolls backwards if i take my foot off the brake.it has always rolled a bit before catching in the past, but now it will roll back without stopping if i release the brake.

Timing belt issues!

The contact owns a 2010 gmc acadia. The contact stated that when in parked or idling, the vehicle would roll backward without any warning. The vehicle was inspected by a dealer and they advised him that they altered the transmission so it was performing according to its design. The failure occurred on an intermittent basis for since 2010. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 10,000. Updated evoq 03/01/11. Updated 4/01/11updated 05/06/11................updated 07/19/12

My 2010 gmc acadia rolls backwards on inclines even though the transmission is in drive. I have driven automatic transmission vehicles for years and in my experience they are not supposed to roll backwards in drive. If anyone is behind the vehicle when this occurs they could very easily be crushed. The dealership acts as if this is normal behavior but it is not and they should be required to fix the problem.

2010 acadia front wheel drive , when in drive or in park on incline the car will roll backward or forward depending on which way the incline is. It does not hold when you move your foot from the brake to the accelerator while sitting at a traffic light or when you are parking. I have had the car bump a passenger when they walked around the front of my car to get inand i had placed the car in park and took my foot off the brake.i have owned many cars and vans and have never experienced this type of problem and it occurs often and the dealership service department is ignoring the problem. If an elderly person or child should happen to be close to the car when this happens it could cause serious harm.

The contact owns a 2010 gmc acadia. While the contact driving approximately 55 mph in first gear, the transmission failed, and the rpms began to increase. The check engine warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. Whenever a right turn was attempted, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was safely driven to a location to be parked and upon restart the vehicle momentarily operated as normal until the failure recurred. The vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer where the technician stated there was a transmission failure. The failure occurred after the dealer previously replaced the transmission. The vin was not available. The failure and current mileages were 9,400.

The contact stated that the seat belt restraint warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was serviced per nhtsa campaign number: 14v266000 (seat belts). The vehicle was serviced at wilcoxson cadillac buick of pueblo (902 n santa fe ave, pueblo, co 81003, (719) 544-4423); however, the remedy failed to repair the vehicle. The contact mentioned that the seat beat restraint warning indicator illuminated after the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 85,000. The vin was invalid.

Power steering gets hard to steer while turning, pulling in to parking spaces, going around curves.being told i have to replace the rack and pinion and then gm will replace the pump. Middle row middle seatbelt is locked won't pull out. Had to replace all front suspension. This vehicle is poorly made.

2010 gmc acadia.consumer writes in regards to the flexible steel cable recall notice issues.on july 31, 2014, the dealer informed the consumer, they did not have the necessary kit, for the recall.recall # 14v266000

I had some warranty work perform on my 2010 gmc acadia.i received my car back from the dealership and needed to reinstall my two forward facing car seats in the second row seats for my two children.i had buckled my 2 year old child in the installed car seat behind the driver's seat while i was doing other work in the car.at some point, i pushed the driver's seat memory button 1 which had been set for my driving preferences.i didn't notice that the seat moved backwards and also into a recline as a result of the automated memory seat.i only noticed when my child began screaming because the driver's seat back was pushing into her legs and continuing to move into her.she was thankfully not seriously injured as a result of this, but i am concerned that she could have been.after the incident, i estimated that she had about 2 inches of space for her legs between the back of the driver's seat and her car seat. The memory seat settings were not set as i expected when i pushed the button, but it seems to me that any setting should never allow it to automatically push into a child's legs to the point that she could be injured.

I was cleaning my car and saw the seat cushion leather sticking out. After further investigation the seat cushion lifts out of the base.the car has electric seats.

Back seat arm rest bracket welds failed. Not enough penetration. What else doesn't have enough weld penetration on the seat frames? working in an automotive seating facility i know the importance.

At random times, my car's steering becomes extremely stiff, sometimes to the point that i cannot make the turn. Usually happens when turning into a parking space or making a tight turn at an intersection. I've noticed that it usually occurs when applying my brakes while turning.i've learned to make these turns without using the brakes.i had the fluid changed, but didn't help the problem. The service technician stated that this is a very expensive "fix", as he thinks it is the pump.shame on gm for not recalling this product.are they waiting for someone to get injured? how sad is that! i'm surprised to read of so many complaints that are very similar to mine.because of this... Gm's turning a blind eye... I will most likely never again purchase a gm.

Brake system light continues to come on. Have been diagnosed which was told just low on brake fluid. Filled and continued to come on and was told causes the stability track light to illuminate. Looked it up online there are several other complaint. Where does this situation stand.

Left side impact sensor, driver's side airbag, passenger presence module, front struts, rear upper control arms, front brake pads and rotors, steering gear... All at once.

After starting the car, shifting to drive with brakes applied and slow acceleration while taking a right turn out of my parking space i lost all steering control and brakes became very hard to press as well. I managed to stop the car and put it back to park and turned off the ignition, then back on again. I didn't have the issue again.luckily i didn't hit another car in the parking lot.

The steering rack leaks and fails after the power steering pump goes out due to an internal failure.there is a bad design in the rack causing the car to lose power at low speeds and will cause bodily harm if not repaired.gm knows there is a bad design of this steering rack and refuses to repair at their cost.they will only replace the pump when the rack is the biggest cost to repair.

I'm having the same issue that everyone is complaining about where i lose power when at low speed trying to enter or exiting a parking space. The steering wheel becomes very stiff. Gmc recall was for steering pump but is making customers replace rack and pinion stating its unrelated and if not replaced it will not honor the 10 year warranty on the steering pump replacement

Intermittent loss of power steering while attempting a turn while braking. This happened 1 to 4 times per days for several weeks before bring the car in for diagnosis and repair. This required a replacement of the power steering pump, gear, and fluid. Prior to experiencing these problems there was constant audible noise whenever the steering wheel was turned. When the power steering failed it was difficult to successfully complete the turn, though i never had any collisions.

My 2010 acadia has periodic loss of power steering, mostly at low speeds, when backing up, parking, turning, etc. This happens sporadically, and at times can be very dangerous. I have been advised that my car is not under warranty, and there are no recalls.

The contact owns a 2010 gmc acadia. While the vehicle was operated at lower speeds, the power steering failed. The contact stated that the vehicle operated normally at higher speeds. The failure occurred without warning. The vehicle was not diagnoised or repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was approximately 140,000.

Truck wont crank! new battery, starter & alternater passed. Boosted it off cranked straight up, parked for a hour, wouldn't crank again. Vehicle was stationary in a parking lot.

Gm recalled the power steering pump, but didn't recall the rack. Two dealership quotes indicated that the pump and rack would need to be replaced to fix the problem of steering going out.

Vehicle will intermittently lose power steering when making turns (already had close call when i couldn't complete left turn and went into on coming traffic ) vehicle was dropped off at sierra chevrolet in monrovia. Problem not covered and would have to pay$1,700

The contact owns a 2010 gmc acadia. While driving 10 mph, the power steering seized while making a left turn. The contact was able to regain control of the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was 75,000.

Since approximately september 2013 my 2010 gmc acadia has lost power steering at slow speeds while turning and parking. This problem has continued to get worse over the course of the following months up until present day.at first it was intermittent, and now every time i am parking or making sharp turns the power steering fails.there have been numerous occasions where i almost hit another car because i could not turn the wheel properly. My husband has hit a pole because of this problem, because he could not turn the steering wheel to avoid the object. We have replaced the power steering fluid, and this did not correct the problem.i have not taken it to the dealer because my research shows that this problem has not been identified specifically for exact repairs.i cannot afford to repeatedly take my vehicle to the dealer when they don't even know how to fix this problem.i hope general motors receives enough complaints to recall this problem before somebody gets into a serious accident.it is just a matter of time before this causes a catastrophic accident for someone, which i pray does not happen.

The contact owns a 2010 gmc acadia. While driving approximately 55 mph, the power steering locked up in the middle of the road without warning. The contact managed to drive home. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer who stated that the failure was a known issue. The dealer diagnosed that the vehicle was leaking power steering fluid and engine coolant. The dealer further diagnosed and replaced the power steering lines, power steering gear, water pump, pipe, and hose. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures and offered a discount toward a new vehicle. The contact rejected the offer. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was 72,695.

The contact owns a 2010 gmc acadia. The contact stated that while driving various speeds and attempting to make a turn, there was a sudden loss of power steering. The malfunction occurred for a brief moment. The failure occurred intermittently and on numerous occasions. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 58,000.

Gmc acadia recall on power steering pump. Dealer stated that the gear was not working right. Recall covered fixing the pump, replacing 2 bolts, fluid, gear covering but not the gear that everything is suppose to protect.i don't understand this unless the fact is that the most expensive thing is not covered but the cheap stuff is. Please look into this.i would like to know how many people have had this problem and had to pay to have the gear fixed.

The contact owns a 2010 gmc acadia. While driving 20 mph, the power steering failed without warning. The dealer was unable to diagnose the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 92,000.

The power steering goes out at low speed turns, which makes it a difficult and is a safety hazard.it is starting going out at medium speeds.

Steering loses power everyday, mostly when vehicle is going slower.it is getting harder & harder to turn. Coming out of the turn it will all of a sudden pop & loosen up again.i can't believe with all these complaints no recall has been issued.very dangerous.

Power steering goes out intermittently at low speeds. Specifically when turning corners or pulling into a parking space.some times i can't even turn the wheel.was told by the dealer that the steering gear needed replacing and it would cost $2000, and wasn't covered under the warranty.i brought it to a local car repair shop, and they replaced it for $1700, but that did not fix the problem.i am hesitant to drive the vehicle since i have 2 small children.the nhtsa needs to investigate this issue, since the majority of the complaints for this vehicle are related to the power steering.

While driving my 2010 gmc acadia up a slightly curing pass at 65mph the power steering spontaneously went out.no leaking, noises or warning signs of failure prior.steering became very difficult and stiff, unable to change lanes without difficulty which could have easily caused an accident in heavier traffic.had performed flawlessly without any signs of difficulty 8 miles prior while turning onto the highway from a stop.car is otherwise in excellent condition and current on all manufacturer recommended services.

The contact owns a 2010 gmc acadia. The contact stated that while exiting the highway, the power steering assist failed without warning. The vehicle was never taken to the dealer. The manufacturer was notified, who advised the contact that the vehicle should be taken to the dealer for inspection. The failure mileage was 42,000 and the current mileage was 60,200.

The contact owns a 2010 gmc acadia. The contact stated that while driving approximately 20 mph, the power steering would fail intermittently without warning. The vehicle became increasingly difficult to control. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the power steering needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 96,000 and current mileage was 103,000.updated 10/03/14*ljupdated 5/12/2015

The steering will quit working randomly when making turns almost causing accidents, gm does not feel this is a safety issue so they wont pay to have it fixed but yet they recalled it to fix a little plastic piece on a rear seat belt. At this point we can not afford to have it fixed so we must drive around in fear of losing steering control.someone should be held responsible since researching the problem there are alot of other people with the same problem.

The vehicle intermittently loses power steering which makes turning the vehicle very difficult.this initially began happening at very low speeds like when turning into a parking space or entering/exiting our garage.lately it's begun to occur at higher speeds such as when making turns on roadways.this loss of power steering at higher speeds is a much more dangerous situation as it increases the probability of a crash.this particular issue appears to be a common complaint amongst acadia owners.

While making low speed turns while in motion the power steering intermittently will cut out. When it first start to occur it would cut out briefly before re-engaging. The issue was brought to the attention of the gmc dealer when i brought my car in to have the steering rack replaced; i was told it was probably due to low fluids but they would check it out. After i picked my car up, the problem did not arise for me again for 1.5 weeks. However, it is worse, the power steering cuts out unexpectedly after having already started to turn the wheel at low speed in-motion turns and does not re-engage until after the wheel has returned to the neutral position.

Power steering does not work well when making sharp turns in parking lot's or at slower speeds. The vehicle becomes nearly impossible to turn and the failure occurs unexpectedly causing near accidents. Has occurred at higher speeds as well which is even more dangerous. Gm should recall this issues before any major accidents. Mechanic said this is "a common problem" with this particular vehicle. They should look into statistically how many times this issue has been diagnosed and repaired.

Power steering pump is making lots of noise when i turn the wheel.currently am afraid to drive it anywhere due to potential loss of power steering.

At less than 70000 miles steering started locking up at low speeds and has slowly gotten worse at over 70000 miles with fluid level at proper range and no leaks.

When pulling into parking lot at low speeds, the vehicle loses power steering and will not turn almost causing an accident.it has also happened in the middle of an intersection when turning when it loses power steering.this is a dangerous issue and needs a recall.

Power steering keeps getting tight when i make turns, where i cannot fully turn the wheel to make a turn, it has causedme to almost crash more then a handful of times since i bought the vehicle a month ago

Power steering has been repaired twice, 1st time under warranty second out of pocket cost this past january (80k miles on vehicle)brought in vehicle recently and needed to have power steering fluid changed since it was "burnt".clearly this has to be a manufacturer defect

Power steering failed .during low speed turns, then recovered and acted normally for awhile.similar problem occurred a few days later and since then has been happening intermittently.this will be a very serious safety issue if it happens when entering or exiting a highway or turning into a two way street. I have read multiple similar reports (over 100 within a year or so}almost all stating that the dealers are not sure what is causing this problem except to attempt to replace various power steering components with varying degrees of success.

The vehicle was becoming difficult to turn and could hear clicking noise when turning.the steering was becoming increasingly stiff. When i took it to the dealership they stated they the rubbing noise was from the steering gear, also power steering pressure very low causing the stiffness. Diagnosis result need to replace the steering gear and the power steering pump and do a power steering flush and a 4 wheel alignment with an estimated repair cost of $2074.05. There appears to be multiple complaints regarding the same issues, is there any recall available to help with this repair?

Vehicle becomes almost impossible to steer at low speeds. Problem is intermittent. Becoming more frequent and occurring at higher speeds. Very dangerous to drive. I hope they recall it so the problem can be fixed and before someone gets hurt.

When i slow down to make a turn regardless if i turn right or left it's very hard to steer. Sometimes it makes a whining noise that it's never made before until now and as of this past weekend any time i try to turn its extremely hard. I almost got hit several times just trying to get my car home from a friend's house. My husband checked the power steering fluid and it's full.

Driving into a small downtown area to meet some friends and heard a whirling noise coming from under the hood (belt, bearing or power steering). As i slowed down the noise intensified, dissipated as i sped up. Notice the steering was tighter and more difficult to turn the steering wheel at slower speeds. The next day i attempted to "check the fluid" secured under the engine cover but was unable to remove it even with the star bit required. I then google'd auto-steering for acadia and found numerous issues related to failing power steering units. Took it to the dealer frustrated after finding that this is not an isolated part failure. He stated that the bellow was leaking due to a failure (the power steering is under a lot of pressure i was told) and it needed to be replaced. The dealership completed the repair after keeping the car a day.seems to me this is a potential ticking time bomb and the part may have been under engineered. I have been a long time gm customer but with all the current press i'm not sure i can support them any longer with my patronage.

Could hear a whirring sound when driving at low speeds and or when turning the steering wheel in either direction. Took the vehicle to our local dealership and was told the power steering pump and rack were both leaking and the rack was cracked. The repair was estimated to cost approx. $1,800 for a vehicle that is less than three years old. If we allowed the problem to persist, the power steering could have gone out at any time. Amazing that these parts haven't been recalled so that gmc customers wouldn't have to pay to replace defective parts.

I have had 2 engines replaced in this truck and now the air conditioning is not working and plus no power steering. The truck will steer upon speed. Cannot parallel park because of this. When making a turn regardless of left or right i have to step on the gas in order to steer the car.

This is my wife's vehicle which i rarely drive. While attempting to make a turn at a slow speed in city driving, i noticed that the power steering went away and i was barely able to force the steering wheel enough to complete the turn. Once straight and the vehicle moving at normal speeds the power steering was working fine. In subsequent slow moving turns both to the right and left steering difficulties were encountered intermittently. My wife stated that she had encountered this type of steering difficulties for several months and had ask the technicians at the local goodyear dealer to check the power steering fluid level at one of her oil changes. The technicians informed her that the level was full. I recently drove the vehicle on a trip myself and noticed a rattle near the front left tire area and some popping noises when accelerating from a complete stop. I will be taking this vehicle to the shop for a diagnosis of what the problem is.

I have been experiencing loss of steering with my 2010 gmc acadia for several weeks.it seems to happen most when i am at low speeds and turning, especially into parking spots, and my garage. The steering gets so tight it makes it almost impossible to turn.i use my car solely as a means for transportation for kids...why has gmc not done anything about this?you read post after post on may different websites and blogs about the exact same situation... Surely this is a defect that gmc needs to address.i am disappointed and truly hope that gmc will address this action.

The contact owns a 2010 gmc acadia. The contact stated that while attempting to park at 3-5 mph, the power steering assist became inoperable. The contact took the vehicle to a local dealer where a diagnostic test was performed.the dealer informed the contact that the power steering pump was defective and caused the power steering to malfunction. No repairs were performed on the vehicle.the manufacturer and was made aware of the failure.the failure mileage was 75,000. The vin was not available.

The contact owns a 2010 gmc acadia. While driving 25 mph, the steering wheel seized. The contact was able to maneuver the steering wheel in order to continue driving. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufcturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was 84,420.

As i attempt to make turns, whether right or left i loose my power steering for approximately 10 seconds and then it comes back.

Steering gear binds when making sharp turns as in parking.

I purchased a new acadia in 2010 , i have had problems with the front end since it was new it has gone back to the dealer many times for front end noises and not handling properly ,i did bring it to the dealer complaining that the car was not steering properly they did do something to repair it but now the warranty is expired and i was told that the steering rack is leaking and needs to be replaced at a cost of over 1800.00. It is noted if you look into it that this front end and steering problem is wide spread , their are cases of people spending thousands of dollars on repairs but more importantly loosing power steering and could hardly control the car . I would like to know what it takes for you to issue a recall ?? people being in accidents or injured ? this is well documented with other owners and with today's technology i am sure you can look into gmc's repair and complaint records and you will see that this is a serious problem.

Power steering gets hard to steer while turning, pulling in to parking spaces, going around curves.being told i have to replace the rack and pinion and then gm will replace the pump. Middle row middle seatbelt is locked won't pull out. Had to replace all front suspension. This vehicle is poorly made.

It seems that everytime i am at a low speed <15mph (such as pulling into a parking space, turning at a four way stop, etc) the steering wheel feels like it wants to lock up and it takes all my strength to turn it to go the correct direction. It is dangerous. Pulling in a straight line isn't bad, but backing out of a public parking space or something similar could be bad. I just noticed it every now and then sometime in august, however, within the last few weeks it has gotten significantly worse. Fluids appear fine. It only has 63,000 miles on it. This is ridiculous. I have a 2010 gmc acadia fully loaded, all the awesome gadgets, paid out the wazoo for a car like this, i should not be having these problems. Waiting on the dealer to tell me whats going on now, however, they are saying it could cost me over $1000 to fix. I have the 100,000 power train warranty on it but the other ran out at 60,000 miles. This is no way to take care of your consumer. I will not pay for that, especially after reading that this seems to be a common problem in year models 2009-2012. Seems like a recall is in order! not the best way to keep your consumers. Before this problem, i swore i would never have anything but an acadia, depending on this outcome, that decision could be drastically changed. And so i have read from several other consumers.

When attempting to make a left turn at an intersection, the steering wheel became very difficult to turn and i had to use both hands to turn the wheel.during the month, there were several more instances with slow turns to the right and left.there is also a bumping noise (thump, thump) coming from somewhere underneath the steering wheel.it is not all the time but increasing as time goes on.the steering wheel is more becoming more difficult to turn and the incidents are increasing.i went to a chevorlet/gmc dealership this morning and was told it was either my power steering pump or the rack and pinion that would need to be replaced.they would have to have my vehicle for 2 days, one to test it to determine the exact nature of the problem and one day to fix it.the cost would be anywhere from $300-$600, depending on the cause. I have read several forums on the internet of acadia owners with the same issue but power steering problems going down interstates when attempting to exit onto an off ramp at a high rate of speed.

I bought my gmc acadia in december of 2009. A few days in i noticed a whirring sound in turning. I was told by the dealership that it was normal, a design flaw with brushes in the steering column. June 20110 entire electrical motherboard failed, six months later the water pump failed. Brought the car in 3 times for airbag lights. I sensor was replaced then i was told to just "keep something heavy in the seat". For eight months abs and brake light chimed with nothing wrong. I reported that the air conditioner was not cooling only to be told it was all good, of course until the warranty was out then a repair of $600. Now that so called design flaw and whirring noise has turned into power steering failure an leak in power steering rack , !000 repair not covered by the recall of power steering pump. Unreal. What a bunch of crooks. The worst part is the gmc dealers pretend they know nothing about any issues and accept responsibility for nothing all. I am sure it is a protocol to delay and major diagnosis until a warranty is expired.

When i was making a right hand turn at a green light the car acted like i lost my power steering.i really had to fight the wheel so i didn't hit another car.this happens randomly about twice a month.sometimes it happens when i make a left turn.sometimes it happens when pulling into a parking spot. I have had so many close calls of hitting other cars that i try not to drive it unless absolutely necessary.

Starting slowly and intermittently when making a hard turn to the left from a standing start, power steering lost.this was particularly dangerous when turning into or across oncoming traffic as turning radius truncated and correction ("recovery") became very difficult. Subsequently frequency of occurrence increased and included hard turns to the right.checked for tsb/recall. Tsb(technical service bulletin) found.followed recommendation to flush and exchange change power steering fluid. This resulted in correction for a short period of time after which steering intermittently lost with very sluggish steering. Flushed and exchanged power steering fluid for a second time and filled to 1/4 inch above tank full line as some recommended ona tsb website. Unfortunately the power steering failure returned, again intermittently but with increase frequency. There were several near accidents because of the steering fail. Manufacturer/ dealership contacted. The only advice was follow the tsb instructions. Because in my mind and based on my experience with the intermittent and unpredictable power steering failures that have occurred a complete overhaul of the power steering system, as well as rack & pinions as directed in the tsb will be undertaken in three days.in my opinion having done some research regarding this problem which apparently has occurred in a number of acadia as well as similar models in the gm family which i understandhave had recalls, the acadia power steering issue deserves immediate nhtsb investigation.

Grinding noise came from steering column.dealer replaced steering gear under warranty.noise came back at 47,535 miles and dealer replaced steering housing in a kit.power steering pump needed to be replaced at this time.

The acadia loses power steering at slow speeds. Turning into parking spots, backing up and similar slow moving maneuvers make it very difficult to turn the car.i have not located my model listed on the recall list and i want you to be aware that it is also having a power steering problem.i am waiting for a loaner car to take my car into the dealer for repair.

The contact owns a 2010 gmc acadia. The contact stated that while driving approximately 5 mph, the steering wheel seized and could not be turned. The contact applied excessive force to the steering wheel in order to maneuver the vehicle. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer for a diagnosis or repair. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure and current mileage was 80,000. The vin was not available.

Vehicle has been experiencing intermittent issues with steering at low speeds.while trying to park, pull into traffic or make low speed turns, the steering will seize. No current recalls so issue reported to gmc on 8/13/13 for consideration.

I filed my initial complaint over the phone but i'd like to add a few more details.after getting nowhere with gmc corporate i did my own research uncovering there is a "class action lawsuit" (i have this document and can forward if needed) in place for multiple gmc vehicles for the steering issue.gmc has publicly admitted to installing wrong size power steering pump! in addition, the power steering cable, a loose rivet in steering column, power steering fluid leaking, and/or no or low pressure all have been the sited as a "possible" cause!*my point being fixing all of these issues will cost owners thousands of dollars and most don't have this money. Gmc needs to recall this issue asap!gmc has recalled numerous other non-lifethreatening issues with their vehicles.loss of power steering when turning left on a main road or at any other time can and will result in serious injury or fatality!!this is serious and needs to be made a priority addressed asap!

When trying to turn corners it's almost as if the power steering has gone out. Pulling into a crowded parking lot is scary because i never know if my car is going to turn enough to fit into the parking place. I have come close to hitting other cars when making turns onto smaller streets.this started in 2012 and i took my car to classic buick gmc, in arlington texasthey stated they could not recreate the problem so nothing was done. Now a year later it is bad enough that they have been able to recreate the problem and wanted to charge me 1714.13 to fix it. I called gmc customer service and they were able to get the dealer down to 850.00 to fix it. After reading all of these complaints about the same issue i am very curious as to why no recall has been issued. I have another call into gmc.

50,000 miles and the steering pump or rack is leaking and whining. Power steering very sluggish at low idle speeds.

Power steering pump, rack and pinion all needed to be replaced while under 100k miles.was unable to effectively turn because steering was stiff.i noticed it most at low speeds in particular.had several occasions that i began turning with plenty of time to make a turn and barely completed the turn in time.

Steering was hard to turn. The gmc service dept. Found the power steering cooling coil rusted through causing power steering fluid to drain. This vehicle is not old and should not have rusted.

The contact owns a 2010 gmc acadia. While driving 25 mph over a pothole, the steering wheel went left when the contact was attempting to turn right. The steering wheel made a knocking sound. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 67,800.the vin number was unavailable.

Was turning left into a parking lot and there was no assist from the power steering.it was almost as if it was locking up.this issue has been occurring several times a week since then, usually at low speeds.there have been a couple of close calls to hitting other vehicles as this issue surfaces with no warning.i asked lafontaine in highland mi to look at it when i was having water pump issues.it seems there was no true investigation on the issue, just that it was out of warranty and i would have to pay to change the r&p, even though that may not be the issue.i issued a complaint to gm customer service when the vehicle was in the shop again for a transmission module replacement. Again,no concern from gm that the steering fails without warning. Loss of steering is a very big safety concern. I am trying to sell or trade in the vehicle as i do not feel safe having my wife and kiss in the car.

The steering makes an awful noise when turning.this is usually at low speeds.this same problem was corrected while it was under warranty at the dealership.however, now i am past the mileage warranty and nothing will be done.i have contacted gmc several times and there were no suggestions.this is very disappointing seeing that it has been less than a year since the part was replaced under warranty.

Power steering goes out at low speeds while parking.recently, the steering has been going out while sharp turning at speeds of 25 to 30 mph.

Driving south on 27 and took the on ramp to 192, and the steering wouldn't turn. I almost ran off the side of the on ramp. So i jerked the wheel and it finally turned. When we arrived at our destination. While pulling in the steering went out again and almost hit the median. Trying to pull into the parking spot when out again.

Power steering problem.going to pull into a parking spot and the power steering seemed to go. Had a difficult time turning the steering wheel. Did the same thing at later dates pulling in and out of a parking spot. At other times, it happened while trying to turn onto a road.

The contact owns a 2010 gmc acadia. While the vehicle was undergoing routine maintenance, the dealer (walker automotive, 1616 macarthur drive, alexandria, la) informed the contact that the steering wheel was about to detach from the vehicle due to a loose screw. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was 66,000.

Potential safety issue - while approaching a traffic light with the intention of turning left, i slowed down to a suitable speed to negotiate the turn. Suddenly the steering was very heavy and required extreme force to get the vehicle to navigate the turn. After this incident i noticed that the steering was extremely heavy at low rpm. If it had been a less experienced driver behind the wheel, or if the driver were to panic i believe the outcome of this failure could be more serious. A panicked driver might hit the gas and crash into the traffic stopped at the light coming from the other direction, or stop in the middle of traffic flow in a no-filter left turn junction. The solution was to replace the power steering pump, and judging by the number of others that have experienced this issue it is a true defect with this car. I believe the solution for this issue is to replace the power steering pump with a know reliable model. Another solution would be to implement a monitoring system to detect a failing pump.

The contact owns a 2010 gmc acadia. While driving various low speeds, the steering wheel became stiff and seized while turning either left or right. The failure occurred on numerous occasions. After the steering wheel seized temporarily, it returned to its normal function. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and stated that there was no recall. In addition, the contact was provided with the following case number by generla motors: c83224002597. The failure mileage was 180,000. The vin was not available.

Random loss of power steering during turns...as others...loss of power steering occur through duration of turning...once turn has been forced, power steering returns....has been going on since 3 months afterpurchase

While leaving a parking lot - tried to avoid a pole - was not able to turn steering wheel - it was as though i had no power steering -

When pulling onto the road or out of a parking lot at low speed, the steering fails. I have manhandle the steering wheel to make the car turn. On several occasions i have had to stop to avoid hitting on coming cars.

Upon taking the car for safety inspection were told that the steering gear needed replacing and that the right front strut was leaking. The car had 57000 miles at the time. Upon researching more the steering issue is known and common. This should covered under a recall.

Vehicle looses power steering at low speeds.

Power steering failure.at speeds between 0-40 mph the power steering goes out causing a very dangerous situation.typically at low speeds like turning into a parking spot, but it has occurred as high as 40 mph while going around a sharp turn on-ramp to access the freeway.even worse yet is when the power steering quits and you are man-handling the steering wheel and the power steering kicks back in causing you to swerve resulting in a very dangerous situation.no recall on this is crazy with the number of complaints filed by doing a simple internet search.what is gm thinking?yet, they will do a recall on windshield wipers that may break when a vehicle is jump started with ice buildup on the windshield.i know around here the acadia platform is the most popular selling vehicle that chevy/gmc sells. How about recalling something that could potentially kill passengers and other drivers?sure they will fix it if you are fortunate enough to have the failure while still under warranty.if not, the costs are very excessive!

While making a hard right turn front tires very difficult to turn very resistant. Front tires felt like being drug across the pavement. Problem became more frequent in both turning directions. Took it to dealership to find out it is a common problem with this vehicle (others complaining of this online). Steering racket cracked and fluid leaking on right internal in bellows. "internal problem with steering gear". I was told this wasn't recalled because it is not a safety issue, basically some one has to die! excuse me, i drive on the country's most dangerous highway, us 50 over echo summit at least once/twice per month. What if this failed? how is a steering problem not a safety issue? i took the suv in before we were killed!

Took it in to clear code from lift gate recall. Walked out with slip that says it needs a new power steering gear assembly at $1900. Very quick google search says this is common problem with this vehicle, buick enclave and chevy traverse of this year. People report this causes difficulty steering and loss of steering while in motion. Upon reflection, there have been times steering has gone bizarre but i chaulked it up to road conditions (snow/sleet). This vehicle only has 55,000 miles on it and only driven 6 months of the year. Several people complain of this steering gear assembly repair (sometimes more than once) and the loss of steering ability at times. Please investigate.

While traveling at a low speed went to pull into a parking spot and the power steering cuts out and then cuts back in.added power steering fluid got better for about a week and then got worse.has been happening more frequentlymostly at low speed and in turns.

Power steering goes in and out at low speeds.

When making turns with the car the steering completely gave away and was very hard to maneuver a turn correctly.was taken to the garage who informed us that the rack and pinion was bad and the power steering column.finding out that this is a issue with almost all gmc acadia's was very upsetting to learn.if this is a issue with that many of them why has there not yet been a recall on this.since there is no recall i am stuck paying well over $1000.00 to fix so that i can hopefully not have the same issue again.gmc needs to do a buy back recall on these models as they are not safe.thankful that i was alone at the time that this happened however could have very easily caused amajor accident had i not noticed when i was sopped to make a turn.how many people need to be killed or hurt before they will fix.

First problem is that the power steering is hard to turn when not moving or while driving at slower speeds as if there is no power steering at all. Second problem is the transmission occasionally will not shift from 1st gear which will cause me to pull over to a complete stop then accelerate again allowing it to shift.

The contact owns a 2010 gmc acadia. The contact stated that while coming to a stop, the vehicle became extremely difficult to steer. There was a clunking sound coming from the steering wheel whenever the contact was making a turn. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the technician diagnosed that the failure was due to low power steering fluid. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The vin was not available. The failure mileage was 61,000 and the current mileage was 62,834.

The steering starting making a popping or whinning noise at low speed turns of the wheel.this is the approximate time i noticed the noise start.

The power steering fails at low speed turns, approximately 2-30 mph..with the failure, it is not possible to safely operate the vehicle.upon recovery of the power steering, i nearly lose control from overcompensation for trying to turn the wheel with all my strength.extremely dangerous and unpredictable.there are too many complaints with gmc and the ntsha to continue without a recall.

Vehicle becomes almost impossible to steer at low speeds. Problem is intermittent. Becoming more frequent and occurring at higher speeds. Very dangerous to drive, especially when stopped and attempting to turn out into traffic.

Steering gear needs to be replaced.vehicle is 5 years old with 55.000 miles.vehicle will not turn unless you press on the gas or have motion.concerned for our safety so getting repaired soon at our expense.$600 for the part plus $150 alignment and dealership wants $1800 total.with this many complaints and the number of vehicles that need it done (seems to be all acadia's 4-5yrs of age), this should be a recall.

When driving such as pulling into a parking spot, the steering locks up forcing me to slam on my brakes. This malfunction happens periodically in different situations. I have checked my power steering fluid and it is at the full mark. I believe the system in this vehicle does not have a large enough reservoir which causes the rack and pinion to lock up in the middle of a turn.

Started to drive truck, turned out of driveway in residential neighborhood, max speed is 45 mph and was able to drive and then the steering wheel locked up 2 miles down the city street. Couldn't turn left or right and almost crashed into a t intersectionpower steering fluid was at max and no engine light or status was lit.

Gmc acadia power steering unit went out, lost ability to turn at low speeds and the steering locked upwhile backing up.i took the suv to the gmc dealer and i was told that gmc has had problems with their power steering units in the 2009 - 2013 year models and there was an an extended warranty on that class of suv.their is a class action lawsuit over the issue and gmc has extended their warranty, but it is so restrictive that gmc will do nothing about the problem.gmc needs to issue a recall for the power steering unit before someone is killed.

I have been having an issue with my power steering going in and out for months. My mechanic says there is a recall, but when i run the vin i get nothing for the power steering. I took it in for an oil change today and he almost refused to service my truck due to the issue and safety concerns of his employees. My truck has around 110000 miles.

My son was driving on the interstate when the steering wheel locked.he was not able to turn the steering wheel to negotiate the curve of the road, so he crashed into a concrete construction barrier.the police report stated the cause of the accident as "defective steering."the vehicle was towed to the dealership, and a report was filed with gmc corporate.their inspection of the vehicle found no defect with the steering.what this means for me is that my insurance and i must pay for all of the repairs (if the insurance company doesn't total the vehicle).it also means that, since they could not find anything wrong with the vehicle, the incident of the steering locking up could reoccur, causing serious injuries or fatalities.in doing research, it appears from the number of complaints and the class action suit filed against gmc that the 2010 acadia has defective steering.mileage of vehicle is approximate.

While turning corners, power steering locks making it difficult to turn the wheel.feels very dangerous as you never know when it is going to occur. I am getting to a point where i am getting nervous to drive the vehicle.especially with my kids in the car!this occurs even if the vehicle is warm and also after a cold start.it appears as though this is an issue with this model and i cannot believe that gm has not done a recall.i was told by a mechanic the power steering rack needs to be replaced, but i have also seen other online complaints the pump also needs to be replaced.this repair is very costly and my truck is not that old! i have already brought the vehicle in for the previously named recalls.

At low speeds power steering quits?extremely dangerous my wife almost had an accident.

Takata recallwhen i go to turn it seems sometimes like the power steering goes off and i have to use all my strength to turn.i've almost hit something numerous times. My neighbor had to drive me to hospital and panicked when that happened. She said she would not drive that car again until it was fixed. It doesn't do it every time you drive it. I told the car dealer(where i bought the car) about this my last oil change. They drove around the block and said it didn't do anything with them. So nothing was done. It has progressively gotten worse. When i drive my car now, i am so afraid it will do this until i almost come to a stop before turning. I love my acadia and am afraid to drive it now. Please help me!!

I purchased this vehicle in feb. 2021. Shortly after my purchase i noticed the steering would tighten up randomly when turning corners making it very difficult to steer / control the vehicle. It also does this when parking.this has happened numerous times since i purchased the vehicle.i googled the problem and found some info dated in september 16, 2014 indicating gm's special coverage adjustment - loss of power steering assist indicating the special coverage covers condition described for 10 years after 1st svc date (the carfax i received said was 2.10.2011)or 150,000 mi whichever occurs first from date vehicle originally placed in service regardless of ownership. I purchased my vehicle from a dealership on 2.03.2021 - took possession 2.06.2021. My vehicle only has 73,676 mi on it. I reached out to general motors to see if they would assist with the problem since i was not aware the issue prior to purchasing and i am the second owner. They declined and told me to contact my dealership and work with them.

While turning at an intersection at a relatively slow speed, the power steering failed momentarily (approximately 3 seconds) making it impossible to smoothly correct the turn. Fortunately, power steering resumed and i was able to control the car without an accident. This happened again on the same day while turning into a driveway. I promptly returned the car to our gmc service department where a power steering fluid leak was discovered in the power steering gearbox. This is a very serious safety issue. Given your history of the same problem, it is not understood why this is not a safety recall issue.

The steering is becoming progressively difficultparticularly at low speeds.itappears to almost lock up.i contactedgmcbecause there have been so many complaints about this very thing and it is quite costly to repair.gmc referred me back to the dealer.this is a dangerous defect in this vehicle and is a matter of time before someone is caught unable to steer their moving acadia with disasterous consequences.i would have thought with a history of this problem from 2014 this car would not have left the dealers lot with the potential of this issue yet i purchased it just last year.what do i do now?i see that i am the 129th owner to complain....gmc should own this issue and repair/recall it immediately.

Power steering goes out at low speed turns both turning left and right, and then comes back when steering wheel forced through the turn.very dangerous.needs to be looked into as i see a common issue.started at about 85k miles and now at 88k.need to get serviced.

The contact owns a 2010 gmc acadia 2wd. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to steer properly when driving various speeds. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the manufacturer was made aware of the failure but the vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 300 and the current mileage was 15,000.

When turning left or right power steering stops working, comes back after you complete the turn this when moving

The contact owns a 2010 gmc acadia.the contact stated that the power steering fluid was leaking from the vehicle.the failure occurred on several occasions. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing, who informed that the failure was normal wear and tear on the vehicle.the manufacturer was not notified of the failure.the approximate failure mileage was 48,000.

Power steering failure. It is intermittent. It is extremely dangerous. Gm knows there is a problem. The acadia is in the shop to be fixed. Nhtsa must investigate.

When taking any type of corners, whether it be going around a round-about, turning into my driveway, or turning to park in a park space the power steering goes out and the steering wheel locks up.this has been an unground problem for 8 months or more. I took the vehicle to a certified gm dealer and they were unable to find a trouble code, and unable to duplicate the concern. Recently the steering issue is becoming worse and i am concerned with driving and the safety of the loss of power steering.

While turning at a low speed steering locked up making hard to turn. This now happens frequently while driving and making turns. Some times i am unable to turn at all and have to try again.i have read numerous accounts of this happening to this car, if i would have known i would have never purchased.

As i was driving along, the power steering failed suddenly.i got to a safe place, checked the power steering fluid.it was full.since that event, the power steering fails regularly and makes the vehicle almost impossible to maneuver.

While driving i lose power steering, whether it's 10 miles per hour or 50 miles per hour. Difficult to turn while driving. It seems to have gotten worse over the last few months and the power steering makes a noise while moving the steering wheel.

When i make turns, it loses power steering, then comes back after the turn is completed.

The contact owns a 2010 gmc acadia. While driving approximately 25 mph, the contact slightly turned the steering wheel and there was an abrupt forceful response. The failure occurred while driving at any speed. When turning the steering wheel, excessive force was required to prevent the vehicle from wandering off the road or into another lane. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer on three different occasions for the same failure. The technician stated that the vehicle performed within factory specifications. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 350.updated 03/14/12*ljthe consumer stated while driving, the vehicle would drift in either direction. When he tried to correct it, the vehicle would dive in the opposite direction.

Steering has intermittent loss of power making vehicle control difficult.

Serious safety issue with power steering. Apparently the driveshaft is broken an it makes the car almost impossible to turn. I have to use both hands/arms and all of my strength to turn the car. This is a safety issue and gmc has already recalled many of their vehicles for this same issue. Acadias need to be added to that list.

The power steering when turning a corner goes out, causing the vehicle to be almost impossible to turn. This problem is intermittent and it does not matter what speed you are going.this is electric power steering and i believethere needs to be a recall on this due to the potential hazard and possible death associated with this defect.

Power steering pump is making lots of noise when i turn the wheel.

At low speeds the power steering system fails and you can't turn the vehicle.this happens pulling out into the street or into a parking spot.it has progressively gotten worse over the course of a year and the dealerships can't figure it out.they just want to change parts costing up to 2k and won't ensure me that it will be fixed. They are seeing it on many acadia's and enclave's and this vehicle needs to be recalled due to this before someone is injured or killed. I am worried about my wife and family being in a vehicle that won't turn.just reviewing the complaints on this website, i can't believe that the government has not done something yet.take a look at the gmc acadia blog or owners site and you will see lots more complaints exactly like this one.please do something.

My car power steering is locking up. While drive getting ready to turn thewheel locks up. Not only me but many other has reported this same issue and has even occured in accidents due to this. Gm has not recalled this suv due to this issue and i am very displeased because its a known issue.

The contact owns a 2010 gmc acadia. The contact had not experienced any failures prior to the vehicle receiving service for a manufacturer recall for the steering provided by an authorized dealer (christopher chevrolet buick, inc., 1111 wicker st, ticonderoga, ny 12883, (518) 585-2842). The dealer took longer than a week to repair the vehicle. The contact was uncertain if the remedy prevented a failure or caused a failure. In addition, the dealer mentioned that the rack and pinion needed to be replaced due to a leak. The contact stated that there had not been any leaks since owning the vehicle. The contact was informed that the recall repair was completed. The manufacturer was notified and provided no solution concerning the remedy and dealer repairs. The vin and nhtsa campaign number were unavailable. The approximate failure mileage was 78,000.

The contact owns a 2010 gmc acadia. While drivingapproximately 60 mph the steering wheel locked and the would not turn to the left or right. The contact applied excessive force to the steering wheel in order to maneuver the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the technicians replaced the steering pump. The failure occurred three times and was taken to the dealer. The technicians replaced the steering pump, pipeand gaskets. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostics a third time. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 30,000.

Nothing specifically happened, but i'm wanting to make a complaint regarding issues with my car.at 30k miles, i had a power steering leak in which the pump was replaced under warranty.in for servicing today, now told i have another leak, but this time the gear assembly needs to be replaced.cost is 1800.i have done some research online and discovered that this is an ongoing issue in which there have been numerous complaints and it seems that nothing is being done.so far i have been one of the fortinate ones and have not been injured or injured someone else. I have had ongoing issues since purchasing my car new.this is the one repeat issue thus far and definitely most expensive so far.i do not understand how gmc can put out a defective part/car without taking any responsibility.some of us can not afford to keep buying cars.i buy a new car, follow all recommended servicing and it's still not enough.as a consumer what rights do i have?from my vantage point, none.i do not know where to go or what rights i have, but saw suggestions on the acadiaforum to file complaint here or at least have my voice heard.

At about 92,000 miles, my vehicle's power steering began randomly going out. It doesn't matter if i'm on a residential street or on a city street. It has only happened at lower speeds and when i'm backing up, but it has been a bit of an issue. After searching google, i noticed there has been a slight problem with the power steering in these vehicles. I thought i should issue a complaint.

Took my vehicle to the gm garage for an oil change and to report a squeak in the front end.told me that the power steering box was shot and has been for some time as the liquid was empty.knowing the vehicle's history i said oh really, my parents had the vehicle in here years ago re: the whining when they turn the steering wheel and theyhad said that was normal.that was back in 2012.now i have to pay $1600 to get it fixed.how convenient now that it is out of the warranty period as it is a 10 hour job.when i asked the dealer if they have heard of such complaints re: the steering they said no.then i told him about my friend who owns a chevy traverese and they had their power steering box replaced two years ago.they service person just acted like oh well.

Early part of june, 2014, noticed at very isolated times steering was hard while making very low speed turns.this happened very infrequently during very low speeds such as parking or turning into a small spaces.the intervals of this problem began to increase in july, but only at low speeds.towards the end of july the steering became harder at turning and the speed became higher at which the event occurred.beginning of august it became a safety concern when turning corners the power steering would go out and control of the vehicle became difficult.i called the dealer and made an appointment to diagnose the problem.the dealer found the power steering pump and rack of the steering to have slow leaks.the solution was to replace the parts.fortunately i had purchased an extended warranty as the cost of labor and parts came to over $1,300.because i have commercial driving experience, i was able to deal with the loss of steering in what could have resulted loss of control of the vehicle.in my opinion, this is a safety concern.

Sometimes when trying to turn the steering gets real tight and it feels as if though the power steering has gone out. In the beginning this happen periodically but lately it's become more frequent

I purchased vehicle used on june 1 2013 around 3 weeks later the vehicle started being hard to turn at turns and slow speeds the steering locks up.i took it back to dealership they ended up charging me 75.00 for power steering fluid now its getting a little out of control at first it was everynow n then now its about 5-7 times a day. I called gm taking it in on service on this matter and waiting to see what happens i barely drive the vehicle now cause of the problem to me its a safety issue and i found out im not the only one with this issue when will gmc realize this needs to be recalled i dont find it fair to have to pay out of pocket with such a known issue god forbid if me or my grandkids get hurt its scary to drive my truck now.

Left side impact sensor, driver's side airbag, passenger presence module, front struts, rear upper control arms, front brake pads and rotors, steering gear... All at once.

Rack and pinion needs to be replaced. When calling around to dealerships, they said that its a common problem with acadias. When a rack and pinion needs to be replaced, it causes the steering wheel to lock up when turning. It is a dangerous problem. Replacement costs is around $1,800

I started experienced steering problems with my acadia when traveling at low speeds when turning into my driveway or when parking.the steering wheel would start to bind and turning became very stiff. I checked the power steering fluid and it was low so i added fluid.however, the problem persisted. Now it has become even worse and occurs more frequently (i.e. When i am making a sharp turn at a traffic light, parking, and at low speeds on any sharp curve in the road). I have taken my vehicle to an authorized gmc dealer and had it evaluated and have been told there is "a gear going bad in the power steering pump" and it needs to be replaced. My vehicle is only 4 years old.i didn't expect a problem like this in my vehicle.i am trying to get the pump replaced as quickly as possible before i have a wreck because of the steering issues.

Power sttering is locking up. Have checked the fluid its full.makes it very hard to steer when you make turns

Power steering fails at low speeds and tight turns. Vehicle safety is very questionable. The dealer says that it is the pump or rack. I have seen numerous complaints about the steering issues with the acadia.

While trying to attempt a right turn on a green light at approximately 10 mph my steering wheel did not turn. This was completely unexpected and i was caught off guard but managed to stop the vehicle inches away from traffic coming in the opposite direction. I brought it in for servicing and was told the r&p needed to be replaced. This was done but the issue persists. The dealer claims they can not find any issues with my steering even though we have been on test drives where the steering locks up. To this day the problem continues only at low speeds, but i will not let my family travel in this vehicle.

We bought our 2010 gmc acadia in december of 2012. At the time we noticed an intermittent low whining noise and by the time we went for our first oil change at a dealership it had begun to make more noise when turning to the left so i asked the service department to check into it. When i picked up the vehicle the same gentleman who checked my car in told me the noise was because my oil was so low. I knew this wasn't true. The noise grew slightly louder and constant, around november 2014 we took the vehicle to another repair shop for an oil change and asked that they check out the noise. Their diagnosis was that we would need to replace the sway bar links within the next couple months. February 14, 2015 while backing out of our driveway the noise was louder than ever before and my husband said it felt very unsafe when turning. We drove straight to the auto repair facility who informed us of the sway bar links, assuming that was the problem. As soon as the mechanic began taking the necessary components off the steering system they told us way needed a new steering rack. The man said that once they replaced the rack they would know whether or not the steering pump was okay, it turned out that it was. Now today 3/14/15, we just returned from dropping our vehicle off at the same shop because the whining noise has returned within the last 3 days and is becoming increasingly worse.

I walked out to the back side of my car to get my daughters bag to drop her off at the babysitter's have my toddler in hands the lift gate starts to close very fast i tried to reach for the touch pad to close it but did not work it started to go up and down very rapidly hitting myself and my daughter i pushed my daughter inside the suv to protect her from getting hit and i ducked to pull out of the way it did not stop it never fully closed just stoped at 80% and opened again.

The tailgate opened and once it was completely open it fell suddenly a few feet and without warning.we took it to the dealership to get it fixed and they said they had seen this on multiple times.they said the struts go bad.they replaced the strut (spelling?) and it fixed the problem.we are very concerned that if this occurs with someone else it could hit their head and cause serious injury.

Power steering gets hard to steer while turning, pulling in to parking spaces, going around curves.being told i have to replace the rack and pinion and then gm will replace the pump. Middle row middle seatbelt is locked won't pull out. Had to replace all front suspension. This vehicle is poorly made.

Broken front motor mount. Car has been driven less than 50,000 miles and front motor mount requires replacement.

The contact owns a 2010 gmc acadia. The contact owns a 2010 gmc acadia. While driving 55 mph, the vehicle shook and vibrated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the control arm and struts failed. The dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The vin was unknown. The failure mileage was 135,000.

Truck wont crank! new battery, starter & alternater passed. Boosted it off cranked straight up, parked for a hour, wouldn't crank again. Vehicle was stationary in a parking lot.

Upon taking the car for safety inspection were told that the steering gear needed replacing and that the right front strut was leaking. The car had 57000 miles at the time. Upon researching more the steering issue is known and common. This should covered under a recall.

2010 gmc acadia. Consumer states problems with tires *tgwthe consumer stated her husband noticed the two front tires had air buckles in them. It was determined, that the tires were installed incorrectly.the front tire beads were torn during installation.

I have had 2 engines replaced in this truck and now the air conditioning is not working and plus no power steering. The truck will steer upon speed. Cannot parallel park because of this. When making a turn regardless of left or right i have to step on the gas in order to steer the car.

My check engine light came on and i thought it was the gas cap as it continued to go on and off. I had someone check the codes and it came back with p0017 and p0008. In addition now the a/c button won't stay on. It blinks then turns off. I've read numerous complaints about the same problems from other owners and that gmc will not honor their poor manufacturer workmanship. Is anyone helping the consumer?

Air conditioning went out. It needs front evaporative core. Gm is aware of this, it is almost a $2,000 repair and they just ignore it.

I have taken my car to 2 different mechanics for my a/c not blowing cold air and when it is refilled it builds up pressure and then i can hear it all spraying out from under the hood like an air hose. Also, my check engine light is on i have been told it is my camshaft sensor, i was told both of these were recalled and the gmc dealership will take care of me for free, i took my car to a gmc dealership and they would not help me and said my car doesn't have any open recalls and if there was they still could not help me because it was over the miles required. I do not understand how people who have the same year and model as mine with the same problems is getting theirs fixed for free but i was unable to be helped, i don't see how this is fair i am a single mom riding around in this heat working my tail off to do the best i can . I am a very unhappy gmc customer. I have been trying to get this a/c fixed for years and i can't catch a break!

The evaporator core on my and many other gmc is prone to failure.from my research it is not if this part is going to fail but when.the part itself it not very expensive but the way vehicle is designed causes this to be a $2000.00+ repair.once the part fails the temperature in your vehicle soars so high that it makes the vehicle undrivable.you can no longer regulate the temperature and get the heat directly off the engine.the metal parts around any of the vents become hot to the touch. We have been forced to have our children sit in the back so that they don't touch the vents.since this part fails so frequently they should recall it to replace it in all gmc trucks.

While driving or not the car has a display on screen on odometer of park assist off no code comes up other then this on display on odometer.

The contact owns a 2010 gmc acadia.while attempting to park, the vehicle suddenly accelerated without warning causing the contact to crash into a light post and another vehicle. A police report was filed.she then applied the brakes in order to stop the vehicle, stating that speed had increased 100 percent.the vehicle was towed to the dealer where the manufacturer was notified and sent an investigator to retrieve the black box from the vehicle.after inspection, the manufacturer advised the contact that the vehicle was operating as designed and that the failure was caused because she had depressed the accelerator. The contact was awaiting repairs to the vehicle.the current and failure mileages were 26,733.updated 11/07/11the contact disputes the manufactures claim that the vehicle operated as designed and claims the accelerator pedal was not pushed.

The brake lights will remain on at times even when the brakes are not being used. Also the traction control and electronic stability control will randomly turn off (frequently) and the dealerships are unable to tell me why and how to fix it. The cruise control at times will not work.

I was at a local drive thru window and i was stopped, my car was in park. I was beginning to leave, car in drive and i hit the passenger front right tire on the curb. So i left off the gas, turned the wheel to the left to get off the curb but the gas pedal "stuck." it did not lift up! i tried to push on the brakes, but the car wouldn't stop. I finally was able to un-stick the gas pedal by shoving my foot under the pedal and lifting it up! i was forced full speed into oncoming traffic and i had my entire family in my car!! scary, and totally unacceptable. Thankfully we are all ok, but my gas pedal should not be sticking!

Cruise control stopped working and then stability light, traction control light and abs lights all came on. Took it to get reprogrammed, happened again next day. Took it a second time happened again a week later. Took it again a 3rd time happening now a month later. So mad.

Windshield defrost will not function. Air only blows from dash vents. The dash controls are ineffective and will not change the mode from dash to feet or defrost. Visibility was severely impaired. I am taking the vehicle to the dealership for inspection tomorrow.

Drivers side and passengers front headlights, these lights i have replaced multiple times even getting a ticket for 1 instance this is a safety related issue that needs to be fixed by gm
