Cummins isc 8.3 cm2250 with only 35k miles engine with catastophic engine failure, due to defective egr cooler (allowing coolant to leak internally) not showing evident signs of physical leaking, caused turbo failure and damage to cylinders which results in engine rebuild/replacement. Paid cummins corporate owned repair facility $28,000+/- to replace egr cooler, turbo, turbo actuator, and more. Total parts cost: $23,797 / labor cost: $2672.64. Once we were informed that after replacing most of the pricier parts, the engine still failed and required a complete overhaul/engine rebuild. Price quoted by cummins owned repair facility:$23,380.20 which includes 2 year warranty. There are many similar experiences mentioned in many online forums, videos of mechanics and so on, specifically forums that cater to the rv industry as this motor is largely popular for the chassis used by freightliner.
