The contact owns a 2019 forest river xlr towed by a 2020 dodge ram 2500. The contact stated that while driving at 15 mph, the contact became aware that the rear driver's side tire on the camper was turned into the wheel well. The contact pulled over and upon inspection of the camper he discovered that the driver side rear axle had fractured. The contact decided to leave the camper at the scene of the failure and drove to an independent mechanic where he purchased a new axle. The contact repaired the axle of the camper himself. The contact stated that the manufacturer listed the cargo weight capacity as 2,245 lbs however, his unloaded camper dry weight when measured came to 7,641 lb. The contact linked the weight discrepancy to the cause of the axle failure. The contact attempted to reach the manufacturer but was unable to. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 3,000.*dt
