Dot 1kmm16a 1710 tires were on this 2011 forest river fifth wheel purchased july 19th 2011. In the state of pennsylvania a state inspection is required. It passed the first inspection when trailer was registered in august of 2011. When inspected in august of 2012, the inspection failed due to tires havingdry rot, a potential hazard of blowing or separating . I keep the trailer on a concrete pad with tire covers. Concern is i was lucky that i require a state inspection annually, if not i would never guess that the tires were bad. They look fine to me with lots of tread and no apparent cracks or separation. If not for a professional looking at tires i would have kept running them till the 5 year mark of having them then inspected or replaced. Thus the tire could have failed before then and causing a potential hazard.
