The contact owns a 2020 forest river evo t2360 travel trailer (na) attached to a 1996 ford f-150. While driving approximately 55 mph, the travel trailer caught on fire near the driver's side wheel. The contact pulled over and extinguished the fire with bottles of water. The travel trailer was taken to the nearest campground where a certified mechanic inspected the vehicle and stated that the fire was near the rear left drum and the axle nut was not attached. The dealer (the trailer hitch, located at 215 north frontage rd, nipomo, ca 93444, 805-929-8095) was contacted and stated that the wheel bearing failed because the nut that was needed to hold the bearing in place was not present. The vehicle was repaired. The forest river manufacturer was informed of the failure and opened case number: wfb3429480. The lippert manufacturer for the rear axle was also contacted and provided case number: 2118483.

The contact stated that her granddaughter was outside of the motor carrier and burned her hand (3 fingers blistered) when she touched the hot water heater grate. The water heater grate was located next to the trailer door and there was no indication that it was hot and dangerous to touch. No injuries were sustained due to the burn.
