Front air bags did not deploy in frontal crash at 50 mph, side curtain did deploy however front endof auto was destroyed.

I was driving on highway 316 in my 2008 ford taurus sel and i rear ended a large truck at a red light. I was moving about 35-40 mph. My front bumper and hood were torn apart very badly. But my drivers airbag did not deploy. This made the whiplash on my neck and head way worse than it should have been.

My 79 year old father-in-law was in a traffic accident yesterday september 5, 2019. He was at a stop sign in the city of portsmouth ohio. Upon taking off from a stop he was hit not by one car but two cars. My father in law has had this car since 2009 and they have always taken care of it. They only have this car. Anyway when he hit none of the air bags deployed, none. He hit the steering wheel so hard that we thought he was having a heart attack.

The air bag light came on in passenger side as not on, my car then started to slow while i was on the highway, and jerked a bit, would not go when i hit the gas petal, had to pull in and about 10 min of turning car on and off, light for airbag went out and car was fine. Although at times light still comes on for airbag on passenger side but car has not stalled

I check yearly for recalls on all my vehicles. In 2016 i found a recall on the driver frontal air bag. I notified gustafson ford in kewanee il 61443 where i purchased my vehicle . I pulled up the recall on my phone and showed them the recall. They told me they haven't received anything from ford regarding this so until they do they can not fix it. Even though can see ford clearly states a recall on my vehicle. At that time my car was 8/9yrs old. I've asked them afew times since then and got the same answer from them now 2019 and still the recall i brought to their attention iin 2016 is still not fixed.i also did not receive a letter from ford informing me of the recall. What do i have to do to get this fixed ? i travel for my job through out illinois and iowa a minimum of 800 mls per month . Was the recall sent to gustafson ford kewanee il 61443? if so why did they tell me they don't have it and nothing can be done until ford sends them this notice? please help!! this is a major safety issue that no one wants to fix. If i'm hit driving 75mph on the interstate i could be seriously injured or even killed ! then who would take care of my 3 children and 77yr old grandmother? it's ridiculous that this was brought to gustafson ford attention in 2016 and now 2019 still the defective airbag is still in my car.please tell me what i need to do to fix this recall.thank you for your time. The vehicle was in motion and struck a vehicle in front of it at 20 mph and no airbags deployed

Driving 2 lane road heading east, saw a car on the ourright trying to come out of drive, kept going back and forth finally gave up, by the time we turned to look straight a truck had stopped with his directionals wanting to go left into his drive, we hit him. Seat belts were on, but the air bags did not deploy..husband driving, got a warning from police, failure to stop properly. We were sore from impact due to seat belts but the truck driving went to hospital for a check-up, we didn't. Car was totaled by the auto body shop...

When driving on main road mitchell st. In downtown cadillac, the airbag light flashed and started on since. A few nights after, when starting the car, it would not come on until minutes after the car started. Now, it will stay light from when the car is running g until shut off.

I was driving back home from dropping off my son at school when i felt like i was going to faint i was unable to stop the car in time when i passed out while driving , i hit an electrical post head on my air bags didn't deploy and i suffered head trauma and bruising on my face arms and chest.

Car accident and bag failed to deploy

The contact owns a 2008 ford taurus.since the vehicle was purchased, it has been returned to the dealer twice.the air bag light illuminated, which indicated that the air bag was deactivated when a passenger is seated in the front seat.each time the dealer attempts to repair the failure, they are unable to identify the cause.the current mileage was 2,300 and failure mileage was 200.

Vehicle began to operate erratically, brought to dealer for diagnoses determined pcm failed and ignition coils were bad replaced. When on road could cause vehicle to behave in highly dangerous manner that even an experienced driver could face injury or death and danger others on road. Millage approximately 93000. No warning sign were given.

The contact owns a 2008 ford taurus. The contact stated that while attempting to shut the vehicle off, the ignition switch cylinder fractured. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the ignition switch cylinder was replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure and current mileage was 86,000.

It began with only the wrench light going on and the rpm would go up and the car would lurch forward.i would reset it with a code checker and i would not have the problem. The problem and the light would eventually return. It was recommended to change the air filter, the air filter was changed and the problem went away for approximately 3 weeks.now not only my wrench light but my engine light also goes on and it returns every day after resetting it. After i looked up the problem on the internet i found that the problems seems to appear in other ford models.i am very surprised that this is not a recall.this is a safety hazard and eventually someone will get hurt or killed before anything is done about this issue.

The contact owns a 2008 ford taurus. The contact stated that while driving approximate 40 mph, the vehicle would not accelerate. The vehicle was taken the dealer for diagnosis. The car looses power. The rpm go up but speedometer doesn't move. Dash shows dashes. When you stop and cut the car off and turn it back on it slams into gear. After waiting a few minutes the car drives fine.

Brought car into three different dealer to diagnose why all dash lights were coming on and off. Each time the pcm was wiped clean and was told they were unsure. The last time i brought the car in was for a possible bad speedometer reading as was pulled over for going 70 in a 55 as which speedometer was reading 55. Brought in for both concerns and determined that the abs module was bad and the instrument cluster is bad also. Speedometer being off is a safety hazard for all and should have no reason to go out. No telling how long speedometer has been out, but the abs module started problems around 90,000mi.

The contact owns a 2008 ford taurus. The contact stated that while driving at 70 mph, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the pcm sent excessive energy to the coil pack causing it to melt. The vehicle was repaired. On 1/23/2018, my 2008 ford taurus experienced, for the first (and so far, only) time, the same powertrain symptoms described at ford tsb numbers 07-21-11 and 08-26-13 (found at http://www.revbase.com/bbbmotor/tsb/downloadpdf?id=139970 and http://www.revbase.com/bbbmotor/tsb/downloadpdf?id=147402, respectively).specifically, while idling at a stop light in preparation for a turn, my vehicle shifted out of gear with no input from me.i noticed this when, as i attempted to slowly accelerate into the merge lane, the vehicle did not move.there was no sound or other sign that the vehicle had shifted out of gear spontaneously.i shifted the vehicle into reverse, and the vehicle rolled back as it should.when i shifted back into drive, there was a small clunk. The vehicle did not respond to the accelerator, up to around 1,500 rpms. I put the car in park, and heard/felt a larger clunk, and noticed that the yellow wrench icon on the dash illuminated.i turned off the engine, waited 30 seconds, and restarted the engine.the vehicle then operated normally from that point forward with no signs of transmission or shifting issues. The yellow wrench light did not reappear, and no check engine light has illuminated since that time.i have driven approximately 100 miles and 6 drive cycles since that time with no symptoms.my research into this issue identified the above tsbs and i contacted ford directly about the issue. They told me that, while those tsbs do apply to the same model and year of vehicle, my vin was not included on the list.they said i needed to have my vehicle inspected by nhtsa so that it can be added to this list.

On my dash, lights that should be on to give millage and other info went out some time ago, first they went on and off - on and off, and now never came back on?

Car was in a parking lot. I put car in reverse and very lightly applied gas pedal and vehicle shot back at a tremendous rate of s peed which i was unable to stop and vehicle was stopped by hitting a low cement wall. If anyone had been behind me they would be injured.

1. After being in stop and go traffic the transmission will start to slip. I try to press the gas and go nowhere, like i am stuck in 1st gear, i coast to a safe place and put the car in park start back up and it will act completely normal after that until another 3 months down the line. 2. Once in about 5/6 month i turn out into the street and the 'anti slip' feature turns itself on and it stops me dead in my tracks. It sounds horrible, and after i release the gas it will stop. Right now the vehicle is at the shop and i really hope they can find the cause of this

At a complete stop, and waiting to turn, engine revved up and lurched forward for no apparent reason. (unintended acceleration). Foot was on brake at the time.this occurred twice within an hour on the same day.

The ford taurus sel has 237,836 miles on it.two times while driving the vehicle on the interstate highway then on a county road the dash showed all zeros and the car lost power.the check engine light came on.the car exhibited slow acceleration and unusual shifting.i took it and had the obd code read.the code indicated that it was a speed sensor in the transmission (p720).the code was reset and the car is currently being driven.it happened twice within a two-week period.i own two 2008 ford taurus and it happened on the same day to both of them.i will be filing incident information on the other vehicle too.

Stopped at a red light, suddenly engine surged, racing like it was going to take off.i stayed on the brake, then put the car in park, it continued to surge.moved it back to drive and within a few seconds the surging stopped.i was able to continue on without incident.my mechanic checked the vehicle out without finding anything.i took it to a ford dealer.they went over it, took it out on the road for a test, nothing showed.my concern ifit should occur when i didn't have my foot on the brake.

The contact owns a 2008 ford taurus. While driving various speeds, the vehicle stalled without warning on numerous occasions. Prior to each failure, all of the lights on the instrument panel illuminated and the steering wheel seized. The contact was able to restart the vehicle. Future ford in sacramento, california was made aware of the issue and replaced the fuel injector and the fuel injection sensor, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, but the cause of the failure could not be determined through diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures and stated that there was no recall. The failure mileage was approximately 75,000.

I was driving 55 mph with a truck close behind, when it just died. I had no power steering, brakes, etc. I was scared to death thinking i was going to be hit by the truck behind me. I was in a curve, and thankfully there was a store. It took all my strength to turn the car in, and somehow i was able to come to a stop. I had no warning, no light came on and my son came to see what was wrong. He said it was overheating. We had it towed home and when he checked it the oil was creamy , whitish. He had never seen anything like it. We researched it, and found numerous complaints about the cyclone engine failure due to the water pump failing, which is inside the engine along with the timing chain!!! i was shocked! water pumps go bad, everyone knows that. Why would any company put a water pump inside the motor?!?! i never would have bought it if i had known because it is just wrong. Then i found out ford had been using that engine for over 10 years, even with all the complaints and i wonder how many accidents and injuries and deaths have been caused by this. I could have been killed!!!! why is there no recall? i can't afford to have a new engine put in, i'm 63 and disabled. I don't know what i am going to do. With all the catastrophic engine failures due to this, i am shocked that ford has not helped us out. They must have a lot of lawsuits. Please help if you can, i am sick about it.

2008 ford taurus.parked in driveway with foot on brake...all of sudden the engine accelerates rapidly and i proceed to hit the side of the house.the next day was just sitting at stoplight with my foot on the brake and the engine for no reason accelerates to over 4000 rpm.

The contact owns a 2008 ford taurus. The contact stated that while driving approximately 50 mph, the vehicle jerked as there was a sudden loss of acceleration without warning. The vehicle was taken to a private mechanic where the failure was unable to be replicated. The contact mentioned that the engine was replaced but did not resolve the failure. I have seen many many complaints about this same exact issue. The wrench symbol lights up on dash when driving and engine revs as if it is in neutral, low gas mileage symbol lights up and instead of saying how many gallons until empty, there are just 3 dots ( ---). I pull over, turn car off and putting it in park or any gear, it jerks and is loud. It seems as if everything on the car is just shutting down, yet still working. The wrench symbol happens more often, and all the other symbols are only sometimes. I just spent $1000 on the transmission getting repaired so it shouldnt be that. It also says " tire pressure monitor fault" when this happens. The car is very jerky and jerks forward. Doesnt seem very safe. After pulling over andturning the car off, it seems ok if i let it sit for 10 minutes or so. Sometimes, not all the time though. I never know.

At highway speed, vehicle suddenly, without any warning lights, stops running, resulting in loss of all power assist to maneuver vehicle to safety.unable to restart vehicle.towed to repair shop.problem determined to be failure of "coil on plug" ignition coils, which shorted out pcm/processor assembly (main computer).additionally, this mis-firing resulted in partial low effiency in catalytic converter, which will eventually impair vehicle's ability to meet emission standards.total repair costs: ignition coils (6), spark plugs (6), and pcm replacement - $2,314.14, catalytic converter replacement - $1,589.95, for a total of $3,904.09ford motor company has been aware of this problem since at least 2010, and has issued two technical service bulletins regarding this problem.

I was approaching a stop light, decelerating at approximately 5 to 8 with my foot on the brake when the accelerator sped up significantly pushing the car forward.even though i applied heavy force to the brake pedal, the engine and rpm gauge kept increasing to between 1800 and 2400 rpm's, far from the avg of 800 when coming to a stop.i put the car in neutral and the rpm and engine speed kept increasing just as if the accelerator was stuck.i put it in park and the same thing happened.i pulled the handbreak and immediately turned the key off.upon restarting the car, the idle was normal.this is the 3rd time it has happened.

The contact owns a 2008 ford taurus. While the contact was driving approximately 5 mph, the engine stalled without prior warning. Upon restarting, the vehicle resumed as normal. The similar failure occurred three different times. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who was unable to duplicate the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 46,000. The vin was unavailable.

2008 ford taurus, engine dies unexpectedly. Died three different times while making a left turn. Almost got hit with on-coming traffic two times, also dies at stop signs and waiting for light to change. It is very dangerious because difficult to steer with engine dead. Had in shop 2 times but no help.

I was entering i 70 east in columbus ohio off the james road exit, while attempting to merge into the outside lane.i sped up to adjust my speed, as a vehicle was in the same lane.when i accelerated, the car automatically took over and suddenly accelerated and revved up high and fast.my first reaction was to hit the brakes, i did, but the brakes would not depress or brake.i was trying to think of everything to do and monitor the cars around me, as well.i tried holding down the brakes hard and taking off while the car went flying by two exits, i knew i would not be able to exit because i couldn't stop.i continued with trying to locate the flasher and thinking about hitting the emergency brake but, i didn't because i was unsure whether it would come to a quick stop.i kept pushing down and up on the brake pedal.suddenly, the revving began to settle down (a fast downward revving sound) and i was able to brake the car.i was unsure whether to pull over so i decided to continue to my destination which was only 3 exits away.i parked and looked at the car and especially the area near my feet, there was nothing interfering with the brakes or the accelerator.i panicked all the way home, not knowing what would happen so i stayed off the freeway, believing the freeway speed would cause a similar issue.as soon as i got home, i researched the issue and found some similar instances with the same make and model. I will call the dealer tomorrow. I had a previous experience with the transmission stopping on the freeway and disengaging while driving and when i stopped.when i would pull over and switch the gears, the car would make a loud dropping sound.and it would be difficulty to switch gears.the car shifts at times and kicks back. The dealer replaced a sensor but, it has not resolved the issue completely.i've taken it back and they found nothing.i hope they will find something, as i am afraid to drive this car after tonights experience.

While driving my 2008 ford taurus with 80k miles on 01-21-11 the car started missing.drove the vehicle directly to my mechanic.diagnosis was a badly burnt coil on the #2 cylinder.in order to get to the #2 cylinder and spark plugs my mechanic made me aware that the air intake manifold needs to be removed and while that is taking place i should have a tuneup since one is recommended at 90k anyway.coil in the #2 cylinder was replaced and tuneup completed and car was still missing.further diagnosis showed that the computer that runs the engine and transmission was ruined when the coil burnt out and for the car to run as it is supposed to it will also need this computer.so i am going to incur a $1000.00 or more in expense because my excellent condition 08', 80,0000 mile car is missing.it would seem to me that a system that allows this much possible damage and expense to happen when a coil goes bad is a flawed system.

This incident occurredin a rented 2008 ford taurus. I left a restaurant, drove a very short distance to my hotel, pulled into a parking space, began applying the brake and the engine surged uncontrollably. No matter how i braked, i could not stop it. It tore out a small tree and lodged into the wall of the hotel.

The contact owns a 2008 ford taurus. The contact stated that the vehicle jerked abnormally while accelerating. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where a diagnostic was performed. The failure was located at the air conditioning condenser. The air conditioning condenser was replaced however, the failure was not corrected. The vehicle continued to jerk when accelerating.the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The vin was not available. The failure mileage was 13,000 and the current mileage was 106,556.

A right side license plate light burned out. There is a left lamp, also. I noticed it when i walked around the vehicle for a gasoline refill.there is no dash board prompt for this lamp burn out. When i went to replace the lamp a couple days later, i noticed rust spots between a plastic trim piece and the trunk lid.i monitor the license lamps now. I have not had a license lamp burn out until i noticed the rust on the metal panel.i question the coincidence of the lamp burn out and the rust.a possible short.

The turn signal lever/wiper control intermittently activates the wipers and / or the washers when the turn signal is used.

My wife had a kohl's bag in the trunk. Some how the center stop light which is a high intensity bulb came lose which let it drop down about 8" caught the bag on fire. It smoldered all night and was not noticeable until the next morning. We opened the detached garage door but did not suspect anything for at least an hour after i opened the door. My wife was in traffic on the way home the day before when the stop light must have been going off and on. She said she never noticed the bulb hanging down. The car was not damaged expect for the real think smoke damage to the whole car. I bought this car used so i am not sure if the bulb was ever replaced.the light works fine afterfire but the bulb puts off so much heat that you can not touch it when you step on the break. I could not find anything on the internet where this has happened before.

Need a change to daylight running lights on autos and trucks.they need to have the tail lights on also.better yet, have all new vehicles have headlights and taillights that come on when vehicle is started.so many states have laws that you need the lights on in rain, fog, dawn & dusk.its really a problem when others won't put their lights on when its raining or in the fog.so the problem could be eliminated by having the lights come on anytime the car is running like motorcycles are required.some autos have daylights when running but no tail lights.then they forget to put their regular lights on at night or in the fog/rain.i think that this should be addressed immediately and have it go into law asap.no incidents to report but i bet their are allot out there, near misses and accidents.

Made left turn onto major street.there was traffic so everything was slow.as soon as i got onto the street, the engine revved up and started to move faster than i wanted and i put my foot on the brake.the car shot forward and i hit the vehicle in from of me.this was not driver error.it was sudden acceleration..it caused significant damage to the front end of my car.luckily, no injuries.

2008 ford taurus.consumer writes in regards to vehicle power folding exterior window switch issues.consumer has previous correspondence with 2 different vehicles with different issues.*ldthe consumer stated according the vehicle's description the vehicle should have had a power folding exterior mirrors, but the vehicle was not equipped with this feature. The engine knocks and shifts hard on take off and slow down. The break booster squeaks when depressing the brake pedal. The fuel indicator does not work properly. Lastly, during long periods of rain the ceiling lights leak onto the console.

The contact owns a 2008 ford taurus. The contact stated that a fuel odor emitted from the vehicle after it was refueled. In addition, the contact mentioned that he observed fuel leaking from the vehicle and the failure recurred when the fuel tank was full.the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump sending unit assembly fractured and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 59,252.updated 02/18/16*lj; 4/27/18

On 8/28/12 the check engine light went on while i was driving on the long island expressway. On 8/29/12 i brought the car into syosset ford of huntington ("syosset")for diagnosis and repair of the malfunction causing the check engine light to go on. Syosset diagnosed the problem as a malfunctioning fuel sender attached above the taurus' fuel tank. Syosset effect a repair by replacing the fuel sender and charged me $411.38(before sales tax). On 9/4/12 i smelled gasoline fumes in the driver/passenger compartment, brought the car back to syosset who effected a repair of the leaking fuel sender. On 9/27/12, the check engine light went on again, i brought the car back again to syosset on 9/28/12. Syosset diagnosed the check engine light as caused by the malfunctioning fuel sender and possibly other components. They could not effect a repair on 9/28/12 because they id not have parts or personnel to effect the repair and scheduled me to bring the car back on 10/10/12, while assuring me it was safe to drive. On 10/10/12 i brought the car back to syosset, the check engine light was out and there was nothing they could do. I believe the fuel sender is a defective component that poses a serious danger to the public. Ford had to recall its 2012 escapes for fuel line defects, i believe this defective fuel sender is as dangerous as the escape's defective fuel lines.

Purchased vehicle in feb 2010. Driven to take children to and from school and back home approx total mileage round trip daily is 6 miles at most. First instance happened when approaching a stop sign and slowing down by pressing the brake but the motor accelerated rpms instead as if i were pressing the gas. Lasted few seconds and began doing as it should. Next instant happened couple months later when pressing the brake to stop after returning home from taking children to school. Tried to stop in my driveway when i reached the house and the motor accelerated instead and had to turn the switch off to make it stop making the acceleration noise. This has happened several times with each time a little more intense. Most recently, while taking my son to a travelball tournament i slowed to stop at a stop sign and it briefly revved the motor. When i tried to start going again it took a second for the car to actually go, then began running normal. Few miles down the road traveling about 45 miles per hour all of a sudden lost all ability to control the vehicle when the motor began accelerating but car slowing down as if it had been knocked out of gear. The difference was it was still in gear and pressing the brake did nothing and steering became very difficult. Managed to get off the road and stopped then it just started driving normal again. Proceeded to drive to destination and slowed to turn right at intersection with oncoming traffic when car did the same thing again. That was a month ago and has not done it since.

The contact owns a 2008 ford taurus. While driving approximately 50 mph, the fuel, pressure sensor fault, and throttle control transmission warning indicators illuminated. The contact stated that the gear shifter required excessive force when attempted to shift out of park. In addition, the contact stated that the speedometer gauge failed to provide the accurate reading. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 135,000.

On wed. Aug, 1, 2012, i was driving on the expressway, the accelerator pedal on my 2008 ford taurus sped up by itself. I thought the cruise button came on by itself or that the floor mat was stuck on the accelerator pedal car causingthe vehicle to go going real fast,(but it wasn't) i hit the brake, moved to the right shoulder and put the car in low then neutral then turned the car off.it happened again two days later, on friday, august 3, 2012 and i was on the expressway again.scared me to death, and it is extremely dangerous, i am taking it in to a ford dealer for repair.

On 5/20/19 i filled up my fuel tank and when i returned home i smelled gasoline. I looked under the vehicle and noticed that fuel was leaking from the top of the fuel tank on to the ground. I immediately put down absorbent, parked the vehicle on a flat surface of my driveway and placed a large catch pan under the vehicle where the fuel was leaking. The vehicle had passed emissions about 2 or 3 months prior that includes a test on the fuel system. The amount that leaked out was approximately one half of a liter in total then stopped. No check engine light has ever come on and the fuel leak only happens when i fill the tank until the gas pump stops, i haven't filled the tank full again until yesterday 9/17/19 when i filled the tank full. After the first leak was noticed i brought the vehicle to a mechanic that put the car on a lift and dropped the fuel tank pressurized it and could not find out where the fuel was leaking from. He installed a new sending unit and fuel pump gaskets and reinstalled the fuel tank, filled the tank full and no leak was noticed. To be safe and ease my mind i didn't fill the tank full until yesterday 9/17/19 when i noted the leak again. The mechanic said he didn't notice any premature wear on the fuel tank or any of the components when i brought it to him. I spoke to another mechanic today and he said it could possibly be a faulty emissions valve that is located on top of the tank. I have an appointment on 9/20/19 to have the vehicle checked out again. I am checking here to see if others have had the same issue and if a recall was ever available and if not too add this to complaints.

On 5/4/18. I had backed out put 2008 ford taurus in drive and pulling forward in traffic the cars rpm rev up loadly and car moved slowly forward with on coming traffic coming up behind me and several cars going around me. I pulled to left turning lane and stopped. I put the car in neutral then reverse felt a jerk then park. I sat there a few seconds. The wrench light appeared on dash.i put car in drive and proceeded home. While driving home the rpms rev up again twice. I pulled in my drive way as i put the car in reverse the car made aloud clunk sound and again in park the same loud clunk. In regards to recall for 2008 ford taurus. Update on transmission fluid loss of 10/27/11.transmission oil loss unbeknown to me untill the transmission started to fail it's normal function. The cause was a leak in the trans cooler combo unit. The fluid accumulated at the base of the radiator. While it was on the lift i requested a check of the surpintine belt because it was squeeling. They made the dicovery that the belt was covered with transmission fluid. All this time, while driving, the trans. Oil was being sprayed over the belt causing it to slipover the pulleys of the power steering, ac unit pump and other equipment being driven by this belt.things could have turned out very badly for me and my passengers, because of an oil soaked surpintine belt, not to mention the fire hazard. My cost was $750.00. How do i go about recovering that cost. 78 years old. Let other people know of a possible problem with trans. Fluid leakage. And yet i love my taurus.

Started driving and car would just jerk and then would go again and not go into gear.only could get speed up to 20 or 40mph.took to dealership and they state i need a new transmission. Called for and they can do nothing about it and still owe on it.

Car suddenly would not accelerate from a complete stop. When driving, rpm dial will rev up to 5 or higher and will not come back down and shift the gears unless the car is shifted into neutral allowing the rpm's to go back down. Once rpm's are back to 0 and car is put back into drive, it will drive normally. Once the car has like two or three episodes of revving, the powertrain icon then comes on the dash, and stays on, and then the car drives normally again. The car has never had any acceleration issues or transmission issues. I got the car from a dealer in 2012 and it had under 60k when i bought it.

In march 2016 my vehicle began having problems. When making a turn, right front wheel spontaneously grabs intermittently. This disables the vehicle for a period of time.this has almost caused an accident several times, as it happens as i'm heading out into traffic.i have taken the vehicle into the valley ford dealership here in kalispell, montana 3 times in an effort to resolve this issue.the first time i took it in right after it first started happening, they told me it was the brakes.so i paid $1070 to have the brakes and rotters replaced.however, this did not resolve the problem.i have since taken the vehicle back to them 2 more times and they have been unable to resolve the issue.i am very concerned that this is a very dangerous ongoing problem. I am seeking your help in resolution in this matter.this has occurred about a dozen times.

The contact stated that while driving 60 mph, the vehicle began jerking violently.the engine rpms also increased excessively. The vehicle was taken to a transmission specialist, where the vehicle was inspected and the contact was advised that the transmission needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, who advised the contact that there were no recalls for the vehicle and offered no assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 91,000.

The contact owns a 2008 ford taurus. While driving various speeds, the vehicle would independently downshift and shift roughly. Also, while attempting to reverse, there was an abnormal banging noise coming from the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing; however, the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000.

My 2008 taurus sel felt like it was slipping between gears when pulling out of a parking lot. 100 yards later, on an uphill street, the car would barely move and roll backwards when i let off the brake. I was blocking traffic so i had to rev the engine at max rpm to barely make it out of traffic and onto the shoulder. When i started the engine, there was a loud clunk coming from the transmission. When i shifted into reverse, there was a loud clunk and a jolt like someone just rear-ended me. Same when shifting into n or l. The car needed to be towed. The obd code reader indicated a pending p720 failure, "output speed sensor circuit malfunction". I contacted ford customer service and they pretended to be unaware of this problem. The output speed sensor is located inside the transmission, not a user serviceable part. Even the most meticulous maintenance could not have avoided the sensor failure which clearly points to a design flaw in the sensor. My taurus is 7 years old with 93,000 miles. A request for financial aid was declined by ford customer service. Any car with a 6f50 transmission should be recalled as these time bombs are a highway safety hazards.

At a complete stop, car lurched forward at full throttle. I have had the car in for this problem previously.the dealership said no codes were stored and they could not duplicate the concern.this is a real safety issue.

The contact owns a 2008 ford taurus. The contact stated that when attempting to accelerate, the vehicle would jerk abnormally and every warning light on the instrument panel illuminated. The contact stated that he pulled over and tried to restart the vehicle. The contact had to depress the accelerator pedal in order for the vehicle to start but the vehicle would not move forward when shifted into drive. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection where they advised that the vehicle seemed to function normally. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 80,000.

This has happened about 3 times in the last 2 yrs but while sitting at a light my car suddenly went forward.it didn't go.to far.maybe a ft or 2 but was enough to scare me.my foot was on the brake.it will also get stuck in gears and lose power on the road.no check engine light is on as of now.one light did come on today while sitting at a light and without notice my car would not go.it was the power throttle/transmission light.i turned the car off and then back on and it drove fine all the way home.it did jerk once.the gear shifting and loss of power happens when i am driving on the highway.

At a complete stop, and waiting to turn, engine revved up and lurched forward for no apparent reason. (unintended acceleration). Foot was on brake at the time.this occurred twice within an hour on the same day.

The a/c condenser which holds the transmission fluid on the top has a crack in it and it is leaking transmission fluid

Transmission slips into neutral while driving.same transmission is used in chevrolet and saturn vehicles and has been recalled by gm.

The contact owns a 2008 ford taurus. The contact stated that while driving approximate 40 mph, the vehicle would not accelerate. The vehicle was taken the dealer for diagnosis. The technician stated that the computer was providing incorrect codes to the transmission, resulting in a transmission failure. The technician also stated that the computer required a programming repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 180,000.

The contact owns a 2008 ford taurus. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the vehicle begun to make an abnormal noise when accelerating from a completed stop as numerous indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact noticed that the speedometer was no longer working. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that there were 13 error codes, however; the technician was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was taken to a dealer to be diagnosed and the failure was not able to be duplicated at that time either. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was 31,000.

The contact owns a 2008 ford taurus. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for routine maintenance when the contact was informed that the vehicle was leaking transmission fluid. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified but no assistance was provided. The approximate failure mileage was 56,000.

Transmission speed sensor issue:car would get stuck in high gear losing power at slow speeds. Attempts to put the car in reverse or park would cause a large clunk. Speedometer would also fluctuate uncontrollably during this time. Diagnostic codes showed failed output sensor and i had it replaced. Function of transmission after sensor replacement is still rough. The safety issue caused by this caused me to lose forward power several times while in traffic almost causing several accidents.

Transmission clunks into each gear when driving slow. When brake pedal is pressed to move shifter from park, there is an alarm that is fairly loud coming from the dash. The brakes seem to work well and i have maintained my own vehicles, so there is no reason this should be wrong with the car. It has very low miles for the year and has mostly highway driving. It has been this way for months, getting progressively worse.

The automatic gear shifter has a rubber mat under the metal plate with the prndl gears listed. It is difficult to shift out of p and thenyou reach r and d the mat has bunched up so much that the metal plate telling you what gear you're in pops off. This is an extreme hazard, as i back into the road and then to put it in d, not knowing where d is because the plate pops off, i could be hit. I also have a 2005 ford five hundred experiencing the same problem. I called ford and they acted as if there were no previous issues. This is certainly not true. This will cause an accident or fatality.

We purchased a 2008 ford taurus limited awd new four years ago.we have had four (4) seperate times when the transaxle will not work properly.car will be in drive, but vehicle will barely move.vehicle will be towed to the dealership who is unable to replicate the problem, so we are sent home without any "fix."latest event occurred on 12/17/2012.dealer's response: "customer states vehicle starts, but when put into gear it does not move.throttle will not do anything could not duplicate concern.road tested multiple times, checked transmission fluid level could not verified [sic] concern."this website, as well as many others on-line, seems to verify that there is a problem with ford's transaxle.we wonder why no recall has been issued for this obvious problem.situation could be quite dangerous.dealership claims that there is no "computer code," and therefore cannot offer any solution to the problem.

This car has only about 16,000 on it.i was driving on the interstate when i started getting this hard jerk and then the car speed went down to about 30 mph.after a few moments, the speed will pick back up for about a mile or 2.the hard jerk will come again and the transmission will not change out properly. This could have cause an accident on the interstate, so i got off the interstate and started traveling on the back roads to make it home.by the time i got home, i could have hardly make it.i had the car towed to a ford dealership and they informed me that the transmission was gone out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i called the ford company, but said it was not a recall on the transmission.this is a very serious ordeal, someone could have gotten hurt from this situation.the hard jerk, the speed dropping while the transmission trying to change out. Please look into this matter.i am sure this has happen to others, but has not been reported.

Car would suddenly jolt forward even though i was securely stopped at a light or stop sign. Sometimes, it felt like it jolted forward as much as 4 feet - even though my foot was firmly on the brake at all times. (i tried turning off the a/c to see if there was a power surge causing the problem. A/c on or off made no difference at all.) this would happen so often, that i would have to stop more than a car length away from all intersections or other vehicles already stopped so i would not hit them when the car jolted. It became an expected event . Brakes were not sufficient to hold the car back from these sudden jolts - unfortunately.coming home one night, car started accelerating beyond the amount i was pushing the gas pedal and then it suddenly lost power even though i was now trying to accelerate. New dash lights - wrench, airbag, and gas all came on. Mileage display disappeared and, instead, car showed that car was empty of gas (i had filled the tank night before and was showing "full" prior to this sudden change with vehicle.) barely made it home and car did not accelerate enough to go up the slightest incline of driveway apron.repair was made to transmission speed sensor. Less than a week later, i am noticing the same sudden power surge/sudden loss of power. I try to convince myself that it's just because i was so scared driving home that night. Less than a month, the car is doing the same thing and i am having it towed back to dealership. From complaints i've seen on internet, this is a common problem and this should be subject to a recall. I believe the replacement parts are also defective.the older woman i bought the car from was told she was at fault for an accident that i now believe was completely this problem! she was been told she is not allowed to drive (which is why she sold me her car) and it is the fault of the car!!!!!

When ambient temp is below 20 degrees, harsh 2-1 downshift with impact after stopping and restarting. The transmission doesn't seem to be in any gear until movement starts thenna high impact bang occurs just as the car begins to move. After about 1 mile, the problem goes away until next cold start up. Ford dealer stated they replaced valve body because of sticky valves. Problem still there. Returned to dealer and they contacted ford. Ford service tech(ford service request #106142903) says problem is normal. This problem never occurred the last 2 winters i have had the car and ford loaner car i had while they worked on my car did not have this harsh downshift.this transmission is a joint development with gm and i know a buick owner with similar complaint and buick could not repair the problem-he traded cars. Warranty will end for my car this coming july and i think i will have a huge repair to be made on this transmission next winter as the problem has gotten steadily worst since last fall (2012 winter season) but only when temp is 20 degrees or colder.please inform ford of this complaint. I would like a repair or extend my warranty to feb 1, 2014 to cover my complaint-thank you

On inspection: found leakingtransmission fluid fromcooler combo accumulating at base of radiator cover. Lost closae to three quarts of fluid before i got any warning ofthe loss by irregular shifting. Nodashboard indicator that fluid was low. A fire hazard.was there any damage to the transmission?. The dealer cost for repair and replacement $700.00. Since when does one have to remove most of the front of the car to get to the radiator section.?

The wrench symbol and the check engine light came on after being parked overnight.the shift in the transmission is rough and jerky in motion.it did this when i first purchased and we had the code cleared and had a recall on the emission or pcm fixed by ford.now the lights are back on and the shifting is as i said earlier rough and jerky.

While driving to work, my 2008 ford taurus' transmission slammed, then all the panel lights lit up and the speedometer reset to zero, staying that way until i was able to pull over.because i was in the center lane of traffic, on interstate 75, in atlanta, i was not able to move to the far left or right.though it was approximately 4:30 in the morning on a workday, the traffic was heavy and fast.i was afraid that the car would stop right there but was able to continue to work because i did not do any sudden braking or speed shifting.i kept driving until i got to work, which was the only safe stopping point for me at that time of day and on the path that i was driving.i was unable to drive it again and had to have it towed back to the dealership.the mechanic who worked on it stated that the vehicle was not drivable and had to order a replacement oss sensor.i have my car back but am very nervous about driving it.it still does the slamming(on a small scale) but everytime it does this, i worry.when the initial problem starting, i had ~500 miles left to my warranty.now i am over the warranty and will have to take it back in for the same problem.this is a major problem and could possibly stall a car in heavy traffic, with no ability to move to a safer location.

On two separate occasions, my 2008 ford taurus sel automatic transmission dropped out of gear while i was accelerating slowly away from a stop and then slammed into gear.the first time it occurred i was leaving my driveway.it dropped out of gear at about 5 mph and made a growling noise.i stopped the car, thinking somehow the shift lever wasn't in the right position, i put it in gear and the transmission slammed into first.i had my foot on the brake, so i just shifted it into neutral and turned the engine off.when i started it again everything worked fine. About a year and a half later i had a similar incident.i was leaving a parking lot and i had reached a speed of 5-15 mph when there was no longer any gear, then it slammed into gear for a moment, went a few feet, then dropped out again, then slammed into gear again.i was able to coast to the curb in a residential area and turn the engine off.fortunately no traffic was coming.i started the engine again and had no further trouble, but this time i took it into the ford dealer where i had bought it new. They checked it out keeping it two days but said they could find nothing wrong with either the transmission or the software controlling it. I was told that there was no memory access to the transmission so that they couldn't find out or verify that there was a problem. I was checking out recalls and service bulletins on it today and i found that other owners reported similar problems.if i had been pulling out into traffic and my transmission failed the way it did, there could easily have been an accident.

The contact owns a 2008 ford taurus. The contact stated the vehicle was not moving when it accelerated and shifted into gear with excessive force. The failure also occurred whenever the contact shift from first to second gear. The failure began to occur without warning immediately after the vehicle was purchased. The contact had taken the vehicle to the dealer several times and stated there was nothing wrong with the vehicle. The failure mileage was 100 and the current mileage was 34,000.

I recently purchased a used 2008 limited taurushad 24000 miles and currently has 26,000. When the vehicle is idling in park a loud humming noise comes from the transmission about 95% of the time, brought back to the dealer and the couldn't duplicate the problem. But the car still does it.ford has been notified.

On 8/10/2008 i was driving at highway speed on highway 41north within the city of green bay, wi. As she entered the passing lane and a truck was fast approaching from behind, she quickly accelerated to get into the right lane and the accelerator pedal appeared to be stuck with the car now accelerating uncontrollably and at a very fast rate. Slamming the brakes had little effect as the vehicle was now accelerating. She continued to depress the gas pedal numerous times for a few miles until it finally released itself. She then got off at the next exit and called her husband who called and made an appointment with broadway ford.on 8/11-14, 2008, the car was serviced at broadway ford. They indicated to us (as detailed on invoice # focs207273) that they could find no problem with the vehicle and had replaced the throttle pedal assembly to be on the safe side. Cindy has never felt safe in her car since, but was hopeful that it was an once-in-a-lifetime event.on 12/28/09, he was driving at highway speed on highway 41 north also within the city of green bay, wi. He was in the right lane and noticed a car was veering over to his lane from the right entering from waube lane to highway 41 northbound.he accelerated to move forward and out of the other car's way and again the accelerator stuck.once again the brakes did little to slow the vehicle since it was accelerating again uncontrollably at a very fast rate. After gaining some composure, he put the out-of-control vehicle from drive into neutral and heard the engine race and then back into drive causing the vehicle to once again operate normally.we again brought the car into broadway on 1/5/10. Paul cavaiani (service advisor at broadway ford) called jim around noon on 1/5/10 to advise him that they were waiting on a call from ford.

Approximately 3 minutes after turning on the navigational system the seatbelt began to tighten on my son, the driver of the car.he pulled into a parking space and tried to loosen the seatbelt but was not successful; the car turned off and restarted to try and reset the seatbelt but all attempts failed.the driver's side seatbelt was permanently locked.

I was driving from work, on my way to pick up my daughter. When suddenly the heated seat in my car began to get hotter than usual, the seat had soon malfunctioned and disburse in to flame! luckily i was carrying a bottle of water from my job that i was drinking on at the time. I knew i wasn't fit to drive myself, and i wasn't to far away from my father's house, and was driven by my step sister to the e.r.

The driver side seat heating mechanism failed, it turns on then cycles itself off. Passenger side is still functional.

The contact owns a 2008 ford taurus.while driving approximately 25 mph, the contact heard a loud rattling noise underneath the vehicle.there was no prior warning to the malfunction.the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer on two separate occasions for identical failures.the frontal sway bar was replaced twice.in addition, there was a malfunction with the driver and passenger side heated seat sensors.the failure mileage was 4,500 and current mileage was 26,000.

2008 fordtaurus with 20250 miles has excessive brake drag, causing deep groves worn into the rotors. When i apply the brakes they make a grinding noise and they are rubbing as i drive down the road, thus the calipers are not releasing all the way. It is obvious the rotors are too soft.at 16500 i complained to szott ford in holly michigan and they wanted to charge me 139.00 to turn one rotor!i asked if the brake pads were worn they said no, i had dirt in the calipers? now three of my rotors are worn. I know this was a problem on the ford 500. Why is this not covered?

The contact owns a 2008 ford taurus. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic for routine maintenance after hearing a loud noise coming from the rear brakes. The mechanic informed her that the calipers would not close and the pistons would not compress the brakes shoes in order to stop the vehicle. The dealer was called and informed her that was normal wear and tear on the brakes and that there was no other assistance offered. The manufacturer was not contacted. The vehicle was repaired by the mechanic. The failure mileage was 19,320.

Travelling home from missouri to oklahoma with my son in rainy conditions i noticed that the steering on my taurus was tight and difficult to steer to the right.the car became difficult to steer and it felt like the power steering had been lost.without warning the car veered to the right and became unsafe.i slowed to about 45 mph and was able to maintain control of the car. This is a safety problem that needs to be addressed by ford.from what i've read, this steering problem seems to be common to this year taurus.the cost of repairs, from what i've seen, averages above $1,000.what, if anything, is being done to correct this problem.i did read of one report that occurred while the car was under warranty.this should be a recall item because it is definitely a safety issue!

Left turn from a stop, out of subdivision entrance. While turning, steering became extremely difficult. Immediately tried to get vehicle of the road. Before totally off the road, steering returned to normal. Started back into traffic and immediately seized again briefly, returning to normal. This was also accompanied by a grinding noise. Immediately returned home. Thankfully it was a sunday and traffic wasn't heavy, as this happened on a well traveled highway through our town. I had one of my children with me.mechanic was called, vehicle not taken to shop yet. This issue is the most filed complaint on this site, and an absolute safety issue!!!!why is there not a recall??? the following was taken directly from this site: "what is a safety-related defect?the united states code for motor vehicle safety (title 49, chapter 301) defines motor vehicle safety as 'the performance of a motor vehicle or motor vehicle equipment in a way that protects the public against unreasonable risk of accidents occurring because of the design, construction, or performance of a motor vehicle, and against unreasonable risk of death or injury in an accident, and includes nonoperational safety of a motor vehicle.' a defect includes any defect in performance, construction, a component, or material of a motor vehicle or motor vehicle equipment.' generally, a safety defect is defined as a problem that exists in a motor vehicle or item of motor vehicle equipment that: poses an risk to motor vehicle safety, and may exist in a group of vehicles of the same design or manufacture, or items of equipment of the same type and manufacture."steering issues don't pose a risk to vehicle safety? all the same complaints don't show a problem may exist in a group of vehicles of the same design or manufacture? in addition, this failure seems to happen when there are low miles on the odometer.

After having the vehicle for 5 months, the steering went out while tring to exit a driveway. Was told that due to my warranty drivetime would replace the power steering pump. After calling in to work on e occasions and waiting about 4 to 6 hours on each visit, just to be told that its my rack and pinion which drive time does not cover. Im not sure why they wouldnt cover the complete steering system. The mechanic said it will cost me 1000...5 months of having the vehicle

I was starting to enter the highway and my steering started to tighten up.by the time i got onto the highway, i couldn't turn left at all.luckily, i could still turn right.by the time i got off the highway, i couldn't steer at all.was told by the mechanic i took it to it was a common problem with the ford taurus.i was quoted $1200 for repairs.i am a retired widow living on a fixed income, so i am unsure where to go from here.i will file a complaint with ford next. The rack pinion assembly needs replacing after only 29431 miles. The dealer also recommends replacing the sway bar assembly; however, no physical damage to the sway bar assembly is evident.the rack and pinion has not degraded to the point of binding or inhibiting steering at this time. But, it obviously will do so in the future and requires attention. I note that this is a frequent occurrence with this assembly based on other complaints at this site. I have written to ford ([xxx]) but with no response to date. The failure was diagnosed on 1/25/2012 after my complaining about a pop in the steering assembly during turns. Power steering went while driving in wet icy conditions.seems to go in and out now, usually out.checked fluid levels and they are fine.seems to work making left turns with engine at higher rpms.everything i'm reading points to the rack and pinion steering failure. This is a heavy car and dangerous to drive without power steering.1repair cost range between $800 and $1,300.

When turning to the right at city and highway speeds the steering wheel is extremely hard to turn to the right.once the steering wheel is turned to negotiate an approximate 45 degree turn, the steering wheel wants to turn independently farther to the right.the steering is unstable at highway speeds.

Driving in city when power steering suddenly became extremely hard to move, drove straight to dealer left it there until diagnoses and repair could be done. Determined that it was power steering gear and pump were bad. No warning sign when gave out, have older chevy that gave noticeable warning when things are going out.

While attempting to back into a parking space, i was unable to steer the vehicle. I had help driving it to my local service station, thinking perhaps the power steering had gone out. Took it to private mechanic and was told the power steering needs to be replaced at a cost of $1200. Really sucks because we just bought the car about 1000 miles ago. I purchased my 2008 taurus with 27,000 miles on it. It had a clean carfax report with no accidents. Shortly thereafter, i noticed a popping noise in the front of the car. At 48,000 miles, as i was entering a parking space at a restaurant, the steering locked up. I had to replace the rack and pinion assembly at a cost of $480.00. I currently have 60,000 miles on the car and am getting the same noise with the replacement parts. Is this a common problem with this model and has there been any recalls associated with this issue?

While driving home sunday evening on 10/02/20011, steering assist failed and felt like it might lock up.drove the rest of the way home with partial steering assist.brought the car to the ford dealer the next morning.they said the steering gear failed.cost to repair $985.00 plus tax.

Steering is very difficult to use. While driving , steering will go from normal ability to turn steering wheelto very hard.nearly caused an accident! took car to private mechanic and was told steering rack had to be replaced. This cost over $1100 to replace!

My steering tightened up to the point of almost being locked. I had to come to a complete stop so i would not hit the car in the intersection which i was turning in to. I have had several issues similar to this but it is becoming more frequent and serious.

There are times when turning the steering wheel, i have a very hard time. I am over 6', and weigh 230 lbs. My wife is smaller, and she has one heck of a time turning the steering wheel. After reading problems other people have had, i decided to file a complaint. It is not safe. I believe a recall is in order for ford to take care of this problem, not the owners of the vehicle.

Both rear wheel areas, spoiler and probably more yet to be discovered.i have visited our local ford dealership in 2012 and 2013 and i am being told there is nothing that can be done to correct this issue.i have also contacted ford on multiple occasions and was told this issue was outside of warranty period.understand this is a ford issue.they are selling an inferior product that needs to be rectified.so we spend 20-30k on a car to have it look nice for a few years and then must pay someone to repaint the entire car or fix the area's bubbling?how should the consumer be held accountable for an issue that happened in the factory?at this point ford needs to step up to the plate and take ownership of issues in there paint plants....after this experience i will never purchase another ford vehicle.

The car has problems with rear caster alignment.according to ford and others there is no alignment for rear caster.i started noticing problems at approximately 15k miles.after taking it to an alignment shop with no fix i took it to a ford dealer.they convinced me it would only be minor wear on the rear tires. I was driving and hear a popping noise at the rear of the car going over bumps in the road. More so without weight in the back and if rocking side to side on uneven roads. Took to dealer on next available appointment and was told driver side rear spring broken. Had it repaired the next day at my own expense. I was told it was unsafe to drive it the way it was. This i know, because i had a 1995 ford taurus that the front passenger spring broke and rubbed a groove into my tire while i was driving under 15 miles per hour. There have been many recalls from ford and i did not receive most of them. I've lived in the same place for 13 yrs before i bought a home and have been here 11 yrs. My 1995 was kept out side and my 2008 has been garage kept since bought brand new. The 1995 was a year old when i bought it. This seems to be an ongoing problem with the tauruses. Same driver, 2 different yrs, housed differently and broken springs. Something needs to be done.

Front and rear coil springs snapped while sitting at my residence. The rear broke last year and the front broke yesterday, 11/20/2008. Had to replaced both front and rear springs plus a tire in the front that was puncturedwhen it snapped. I just purchased all new tires a month ago. This could have cause a major accident if it had happened while driving.

I had complied with recall# 04v332000 for my 2001 ford taurus with having the protective shields installed on my front springs.recently, with my wife driving to work, the front left spring fractured.luckily, my wife was driving to work using backroads and not on the freeway.because the shields were installed and should have protected the springs from corrosion due to road salts, i think that this should be looked at as this temporary repair did not work.in addition, all other states that did not have the shields installed are being offered a 10 year/150,000 mile warranty.this would be helpful in snow states as well.my vehicle only has 90,000 miles.i have contacted ford and they are unwilling to take action.thanks.

My car will jerk and hesitate when i am trying to excelerate slowly, also it will do it while i am doing 50-60 and trying to speed up to pass someone.. I have tried fuel injection cleaner all my fluids have been checked, tune was done, no check engine light and mechanic can not figure out why it is doing it..it mirrors another complaint exacly..also every once in a while the inginiton will sick.. This happens all the time.. Since about february of this year

The car looses power. The rpm go up but speedometer doesn't move. Dash shows dashes. When you stop and cut the car off and turn it back on it slams into gear. After waiting a few minutes the car drives fine

I don't know the keyless entry code.

2008 ford taurus(automatic transmission) , i was on interstate doing speed-limit 60 mph. When traffic became heavy so was slowed to 45 mph. An when i went to accelerate the car began to jerk an had hesitation like transmission but only when pushed gas pedal. I have notice it bogs down around 60 mph an jerks 3 or 4 times an seems like losing power an then it will pick back up normal drive few more miles an it will repeat. Also checked fluids anthey are fine an dash isn't showing any service lights. But when o/d is off it gets intermittent power surge. Also leaving my house got to the stop sign an car would not hold it keep rolling backwards.

The contact owns a 2008 ford taurus. The contact stated that while stop at traffic light the vehicle suddenly accelerated and crashed into the proceeding vehicle rear end. The vehicle was towed to the dealer who repaired the vehicle front end damage. However the sudden acceleration failure was not investigated. The failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer who was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 35,000 and the approximate current mileage was 42,000.

The contact owns a 2008 ford taurus. While driving at low speeds, the vehicle failed to accelerate properly. While accelerating from a stop, the vehicle hesitated to accelerate and drove very slowly when the accelerator pedal was depressed to the floorboard. The vehicle would then rapidly accelerate and almost cause the driver to lose control. The vehicle was taken to mouw ford (1245 north main ave, sioux center, ia) where it was diagnosed that the throttle body was faulty. The throttle body was replaced, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 81,000.

The contact owns a 2008 ford taurus. While driving approximately 3 mph the rpms increased and the vehicle would accelerate over 30 mph.he stated that the failure occurred one week after the vehicle was purchased. The contact stated that he immediately drove the vehicle back to the dealer and the computer was reprogrammed; however, the failure occurred eight times. The contact stated that on two occasions the vehicle was taken to the dealer and a ford event data recorder was placed in the vehicle. The event data recorder was installed incorrectly and did not detect any failures. He stated that the dealer was unable to determine the cause of failure. The failure recurred on june 30, 2010 while driving 35 mph. The brakes were engaged and the contact was forced to shift into neutral gear. The contact called the manufacturer and was advised to take the vehicle back to the dealer so that they could diagnose the failure again. The contact has requested to have a ford engineer to determine the cause offailure. The failure mileage was 5 and the current mileage was 13,600.

2008 ford taurus.parked in driveway with foot on brake...all of sudden the engine accelerates rapidly and i proceed to hit the side of the house.the next day was just sitting at stoplight with my foot on the brake and the engine for no reason accelerates to over 4000 rpm.

Not long after purchase of ford taurus, when stopping at light/sign the engine would stay revved up to 3000+ rpm -- only very firm (two foot) braking keptat stop -- moved to neutral to correct.had dealer check (7/9/08)and they said they could find no problem. Has happen 3-4 times since.fortunately, have been aware and could avoid major problem.with recent developments, this car has similar characteristics.

The contact owns a 2008 ford taurus. The contact stated that the vehicle abnormally accelerated while driving 55-60 mph. The contact was able to reduce the speed by applying the brake with force. The failure was experienced a second time and the vehicle had to be shifted into neutral to stop the vehicle.the vehicle was taken to the dealer to have a diagnostic performed but was not repaired. The approximate failure and current mileage was 53,000.

I bought a 2008 ford taurus in sep 2008. Over the last three weeks, i have had three incidences of engine surge while stopped and the brakes applied. The first two incidences occurred when the car was cold, shortly after leaving my house. The surge today occurred when the engine was hot. The engine surges to about 2000 rpm, no accelerator involved. I have not spoken with the dealer yet but will take the car in for check tomorrow morning. This is a heads up for anyone else having the new ford engine and possibly experiencing the same problem. For a person capable of applying only light brake pressure, the car lurching forward is a real hazard.

Started driving and car would just jerk and then would go again and not go into gear.only could get speed up to 20 or 40mph.took to dealership and they state i need a new transmission. Called for and they can do nothing about it and still owe on it.

The contact owns a 2008 ford taurus. The contact stated that while driving approximately 45 mph, the vehicle accelerated abnormally. The vehicle had to be maneuvered to the side of the roadway in order to stop the failure. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle would roll forward after the being secured in park. The failure recurred over a five year span. The vehicle was taken to the dealer however, the technician could not diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 28,000.

I was pulling out of a parking lot, stopped and on the brakes waiting for an opening in traffic when all of the sudden my car tried to surge me forward, revving up very high. It sounded as if the car may blow up. I had to stomp on the brake pedal with both feet and fight to keep from the car throwing me out into traffic. I put the car in park and it stopped. I immediately went to the nearest service station, where they looked at it & took it for a drive. It didn't happen while they looked at it so they told me they have no way of knowing what went wrong with it. My husband called ford and they claim they have never heard of that and we were the first ones that had that go wrong with their ford taurus. I'm very frustrated, i saw numerous complaints on the internet about the exact thing happening to other people. I'm scared to drive my car now, and will no longer teach my son to drive with it. There's no way i'd put my son behind the wheel of it knowing it might throw him into traffic and harm him in any way. Is ford waiting for a death before they admit to anything?! i need help from anyone to guide me in how to find out what went wrong and how to get it fixed. I have a couple doctor appointments coming up in st louis and i can't get the fear of it happening on an 8 lane highway out of my head. Help!

The contact owns a 2008 ford taurus. The contact stated that while driving at 60 mph, the vehicle failed to accelerate when the accelerator pedal was depressed. The failure recurred intermittently. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 73,000.

Over the past two months, (this has happened twice) while driving my 2008 ford taurus, the gas peddle stuck to the floor. It was almost like it accelerated as if i was resuming the cruise control button, however, i wasn't using my cruise at the time. I ended up riding the breaks for awhile until i finally had to put the car in neutral and turn the key off. When i turned the car back on it was still stuck. I physically had to reach down and pull the peddle up off the floor. The second time that it happened it did the same thing but then it quit after i turned the key off.

Had cruise control set to on position, i accelerated to pass a car, then the acceleration continued on even though my foot was off of accelerator pedal.the car continued to speed rapidly with the engine revving even though my foot was pressed hard on the brake.i was able to slow the car down to 60 with my foot pressed hard on the brake.unfortunately there was traffic around me and i did not have the ability to control the speed of the car.i had to move onto the road shoulder to avoid hitting the car ahead of me.luckily the paved shoulder of the road was grated and somehow caused the car to stop (intermittent acceleration 3x), and then coming to a complete stop.upon explaining this to my father, he wonders if the acceleration cable stuck when i initially attempted to pass a car and then shook loose and became unstuck when driving over the grated road - not sure.i was glad to make it out of that situation alive but need your assistance in how to proceed with this problem.my father called a ford dealer mechanic and they want to charge for a diagnostic and repair.i feel that this should not be our responsibility as this is possibly a manufacturer defect that should be taken care of by ford.please advise me.thank you for your time.

Car was in a parking lot. I put car in reverse and very lightly applied gas pedal and vehicle shot back at a tremendous rate of s peed which i was unable to stop and vehicle was stopped by hitting a low cement wall. If anyone had been behind me they would be injured.

While i was driving on the freeway my car started to idle high and speed gained without me doing it.i tried to push on the brake to slow car down but brake would not work, i got off freeway and pushing as hard as i could on the brake the car slowed somewhat., there was a hill which caused me to again gain speed and i put car in park and to stopped. I towed to auto repair and when computer test was ran no codes came up.
