2 door ford mustang convertable was involved in a motor vehicle accident with another car on saturday 7/23/05 with 3 people injured in the mustang.the air bags did not deploy at all

Both air bags failed to deploy.our mustang struck a pick up truck as it turned left in front of us at an intersection while traveling 40 mph.we struck his right rear panel and neither one of the air bags deployed.

There was a vehicle in front of me. Both vehicles were traveling at the same speed.the car in front of me anchored the brakes.i was 3 car length behind.th abs failed and did not allow the brakes to resume.we hit the back end of the car in front at 35mph.the passenger seatbelt broke ending my fiance head into the windshield.the airbags did not deploy car was totaled and the toyota did not have a scratch:myself and my girl are both injured.i purchased this car 5/14.i believe there may not be airbags and i also think this car escaped having to have a salvage title.we are upset to say the least.as it is one thing but to put a consumers life at risk is another.this is the second car from this dealer since march 2014 that we had been given a death trap.

While my daughter was driving on a in town road she came upon construction, all traffic was stopped because the 2 lanes were down to 1. As she was waiting for traffic to start moving her boot got caught under seat lever (thigh high boots flap got caught) and it made her foot slip from brake, she then bumped into the van in front of her, less then 5mph and both which there was no passenger or anything on her seat airbags deployed destroying her colume. Absolutely no front end damage, no damage to other vehicle, car still runs and seatbelts still work. Having it checked for malfunctions.

To whom it may concern,on aug. 26, 2003 at around 9:45 pm i was in a terriblecar accident in my 2002 ford mustang ,in which my airbags failed to deploy. The point of impact was approximately 50-55 mph head on and i was also struck from behind. I am very angry that my airbags did not deploy at the point of impact, especially with the advanced technology and sensors installed on my vehicle. Ten minutes prior to air bags deploying i complained to my two passengers that my eyes were burning. I was stopped in traffic, with my foot on brake in center lane in city traffic, when i hear a loud bang and instantly both airbags on driver and passenger side deployed. The noise and force startled me taking my foot of brake and rolling forward. The air bags blew both my passenger and my glasses into the back seat of car. The passenger bag was smoking badly and i quickly put down both windows and i pulled off street into shopping center parking lot. The car in front of me whom i rolled into pulled over as well. We checked both the front of my car and rear bumper of her car and because no visible damage. I took a picture of her bumper and license plate to show no damage. My passenger in front seat was bruised from airbag as for myself and the other passenger we were shaken by the experience.

Subject:airbag failure comments: twice now my son has had an accident with his 2002 mustang and the airbag did not deploy. Fortunately he was not hurt. My major concern is that i had the airbag specifically tested at the repair shop at the last repair before accepting delivery of the car. I was told someone is hired by the repair shop to come out and run tests by hooking up instruments to the car and getting a read out. To the best of my knowledge this was done but my son just had his 2nd accident and his car hit a concrete barrier at better than 40 mph and the airbag still did not deploy. I have reported it to consumer service at the ford website but have not received a response. I am very concerned about my son's future use of this car and that fact that my wife owns an identical mustang of the same manufactured year of 2002. While driving at 30 mph the consumer entered a one way street the wrong way.then, consumer's vehicle collided with another vehicle head on. Consumer wore seat belts, but air bags failed to deploy. Upon impact, driver sustained injuries,and the police did make a report. Vehicle was totaled in the collision.

Driving on highway, raining, cruise control on, lost control of vehicle, hit tree head on. Airbags did not deploy.

While driving north at 45 mph a vehicle traveling south hit consumer's vehicle head on. Front air bags did not deploy, anddriver's seat belt did not lock. Driver's head hit the steering wheel. Driver was transported to the emergency room for treatment of neck pain and injuries to the legs.

The consumer was at a intersectionin proceeding to pull out. Another vehicle ran the red light and hit her head on.the dual airbags didn't deploy at all.please furnish additional information.mr

I own 2 / 2002 ford mustangs.my son has been in 2 accidents with his within the last year and in both incidents his airbag did not deploy.the first accident may have a reasonable explanation but the 2nd one was an accident that involved him hitting a concrete barrier at better than 40 mph.i had the airbag tested when repaired on the 1st accident and approved. I am a cosigner on a 2002 ford mustang-daniel barker cosigner was brandon vick, also, on my insurance.on 04-16-2005 brandon was driving southbound on highway, 6 a major highway running through bcs between navasota and heampstead, he drove over a bridge which changed textures, or slopped down and the airbags in deployed. Brandon pulled over slowly and cameto a stop, pulled out the airbags and droveaway.04-18-05-brandon talks to insurance agent who calls varsity ford about fixing this since it is under warranty.they just say no, it will be $2,000. Calls thompson country ford and they say to come in and run mustang under diagnosis machine. Workers say they dont know what the codes mean and asked brandon to come back when manager is back. Goes back 04-22 manager says they will not fix it under warranty cause it has expired, this is not true.it was inititially understood by all parties from the book in the subject vehicle glove compartment that this vehicle is still under warranty for airbag situations. Then told brandon not to worry about the charge. Then when proved wrong they said they would not do it cause it had crashed but refused to write this on paper unless they were paid $70. I went up there and paid them $70. They wrote that thecar was travelling down hwy 6 and hit a pothole. Airbags deployed and crash is detected therefore not covered by warranty, however they did not release codes or explain what all meant. They implied that car was crashed and 'fixed up' from sat to mon. They also wrote on paper that vehicles warranty has expired.they were falsifying the truth by saying that car hit a pothole. That was never said. There is no sign of damage on the car, examined by claims rep.there are thousands of vehicles that travel hwy 6 everyday and drive over the same bridge.no modifications to this vehicle.claim with farmers pending however mechanical failure is excluded from policy.

On march 21, 2007, my mustang caught fire in the driveway of my mother's home in new brighten, pa 15066 where i then lived. It was parked at about 7pm after driving into new brighten and back, about 5 miles each way. At about 2am that night we were awakened by the car horn and the glow of the car engulfed in flames. A fire inspection result was undetermined.

The car had under 38000 miles on it but i hadn't driven it since 4:30 pm but at about 5 am woke up to the explosions and the car engulfed in flames. Ford has been unresponsive to this saying there is no defect, but it is similar to the expeditions exploding in flames for no reasonthere were no modifications to the car or any reason for it to catch fire by itselfthe car was a total loss and i did not have insuranse to cover it because i am a single mom and was trying to save a few pennies and had no reason to believe that new of a car would go up in flames.

Dt: the consumers 2002 ford mustang was parked at a curb and turned off when it caughton fire under the hood. The car had been sitting for about 45 minutes. There was no cruise control used. According to the police and fire department the fire was caused by an electrical short underneath the hood of the vehicle. There were no lights on the dashboard that indicated a problem. The vehicle was fairly new and in good condition. The area around the battery and wiringwas burnt. Everything under the hood melted and was destroyed. The inside of the car did not look burned because the fire department was so quick to respond. The owner usually kept the vehicle parked in the garage or under his pine trees. There were no injuries.

Contacted dealer, dealer said could not help, car burned to ground.dealer would not even give me a loaner car, still under investigation. No safety efect listed.

While in drive, with the car stopped, the car tries to surge forward by itself. You have to be weary that you keep additional pressure on the brake or the car will burst forward.

My wife was pulling in to the drive way on her way from doing some errands a drive of less than 5 miles and its a rural road where you cant drive more than 30 miles an hour when she smelt like something was burning. She checked the gauges and everything seemed fine and then saw smoke coming off the hood. She only had time to park the car and get off as the whole engine bay got engulfed in flames.the fire fighters arrived and were able to control the fire from spreading but the front half of the car was totally destroyed.

I went to drive my car friday morning and heard a squeaking noise i took it to the shop and had 3 pulleys replaced on it and it was still squeaking they replaced the water pump still squeaking i had 3 mechanics check the car and they told me with the miles that was on my car i should not be having problems coming from my crankshaft i don't even have 100,000 miles on the car yet.

The fourth spark plug on my 2002 ford mustang gt 4.6l vehicle blew out.this resulted heavy loss of power, shaking, and more importantly fuel fumes to come out.the incident occurred on an interstate at high-speed and i was very fortunate to safely make it over to the emergency lane. 2002 ford mustang v6 with manual transmission.engine increases rpms even when foot is off the accelerator pedal.this happens in gear and between shifts.even though vehicle is under warranty, ford refuses to fix the problem.they say that this is "a normal vehicle characteristic and no further repairs should be performed".the problem is consistent and worsening.i think this is dangerous and ford should resolve the problem.

The car dies unexpectedly. The check engine light comes on but the dealer says that they cannot find anything wrong with the car. This has happened on two different occasions, (while the car is idling and when the car is in gear moving). While driving 40 mph and when brakes were depressed the vehiclepulled from side to side.there was a clunk after the brakes were released, the front tires rubbed on the frame when turning, three belts were installed within 6000, the vehicle smelled like oil, even with the a/c on. The motor rattled before the gears were shifted, with the a/c on the motor would surge up and down to the point where the vehicle would pull. Dt:2002 ford mustang.the consumer statedthe exhaust intake on the catalytic converter broke in half.the air conditioner condenser dripped on the catalytic converter intake.this caused the break.ford was aware of the problem.the exhaust wentinto the engine, andthe pipe was hanging on the road.the dealership will not fix the vehicle under the emissions warranty.there is a technical service bulletin, 04216.

Dt*:the contact stated the vehicle was taken to a service dealer to replace two exhaust mufflers.after two and half months the new stanley steel mufflers became severely rusted.when the service dealer was alerted, they refused to acknowledge any warranty on the mufflers.

A year ago, i purchased a 2002 mercury cougar. It had an in-dash 6 disc cd player. About 3 times a week, the cds would get jammed in the player. I got rid of the cougar and purchased a 2002 ford mustang two days ago. There are 6 cds stuck in the in-dash cd player on this car as well. Others i have talked to that own ford/mercury vehicles with the same type of cd player are having the same problem.

I have had my mustang in the shop 7 times to repair the check fuel cap light. The car has stalled on me several times. Sence the last time i had it in the shop my car gets realy bad gasmileage. It has recentlty been giving me a hard time shifting. I have a fear of the car stalling on the freeway or catching fire, beacause of the eletrical problems in the fuel tank.*la

Fuel pump had to be replaced after only 6,600 miles.company indicated no recalls, but this seems ridiculous for such low miles. Warranty had expired 6 months before. Vehicle always had low power.

The fuel pump in my 2002 3.8l mustang stopped working. When i lowered the gas tank to replace it, i found that the plastic part the fuel pump/sending unit sets down into is offset from the hole and the fuel pump/sending unit can not be removed without breaking the part that it sets down into. So not only do i have to replace the pump, i have to buy an entire gas tank since that part comes pre-installed

Was pulled over by police when accelerator stuck, he thought i was lying so i contacted d.a. And ticket reduced to bad muffler....right! took auto to dealership and were unable to duplicate problem. Car also shakes badly at speeds above 45mph, all the time. Private garage stated problem not with suspension.

Transmission will drag on deceleration and then freewheel. Example: going 60 mph, taking foot off accelerator the car will freewheel until it hits 50 mph, the transmission then engages, like the brakes were put on lightly, at 40 mph the transmission disengages and the car than freewheels again. A vibration is felt in the drivers seat when the transmission engages( at 50 mph ) and is more pronounced at higher speeds.this has been a continuous action since the car was purchased. I have had it to the dealer 3 or 4 times and i am told there is nothing wrong, that is how the transmission works. I have no confidence that the dealer knows what he is talking about. I think the warranty of this transmission should be increased beyond the three years as provided by ford. This ford mustang was purchased on oct. 30, 2001 and the warranty runs out in oct. This year(2004). The axle broke, which caused the rear wheel to fall off, consequently the driver loss control of the vehicle.

Rear passenger seatbelt does not retract; unusable.

2002 mustang seatbelts do not function properly, will not retract, and can not pull out. That means that it can not be used. I have talked to may people that have told me this is a common problem with the mustang. Any info would be helpful.

We have had a 2002 ford mustang for one year.the passenger seat belt will not function properly.it will not come out all the way making it useless.i had the dealership look at it.it was fixed for approximately a week.it is now unusable again.from my search on this issue there seems to be a lot of complaints about it.why should i pay for a new assembly for something that occurs frequently with similar cars and is not being taken care of by ford.

The passenger seat belt does not come out or retract. It stuck in a half way out position. It cannot be used. It has been replace twice only to go back the exact same way and is not safe to use. The cost is over $400.00 to fix if you find the part.

Both front seat belts failed to retract back into the holster when they were unfastened. The dealership will be contacted. The cause had not been determined.

Driver's side seat belt retractorfailed. The part had been repaired. However, it continued to fail.

Driver side seat belt is very sensitive, it will retract when vehicle hits the slightest bump in the road. Driver has to unhook seat belt for seat belt not to retract.

The vehicle was towed to an undisclosed location. The local dealer and manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vin was not available. The failure mileage was 70,000.

There was a vehicle in front of me. Both vehicles were traveling at the same speed.the car in front of me anchored the brakes.i was 3 car length behind.th abs failed and did not allow the brakes to resume.we hit the back end of the car in front at 35mph.the passenger seatbelt broke ending my fiance head into the windshield.the airbags did not deploy car was totaled and the toyota did not have a scratch:myself and my girl are both injured.i purchased this car 5/14.i believe there may not be airbags and i also think this car escaped having to have a salvage title.we are upset to say the least.as it is one thing but to put a consumers life at risk is another.this is the second car from this dealer since march 2014 that we had been given a death trap.

After the consumer would take his foot off of the gas there would be a slight acceleration, the vehicle would hesitate and lunge forward. My wife was pulling in to the drive way on her way from doing some errands a drive of less than 5 miles and its a rural road where you cant drive more than 30 miles an hour when she smelt like something was burning. She checked the gauges and everything seemed fine and then saw smoke coming off the hood. She only had time to park the car and get off as the whole engine bay got engulfed in flames.the fire fighters arrived and were able to control the fire from spreading but the front half of the car was totally destroyed.

The vehicle bumper was coming off (sticking out on the sides).the vehicle was taken to the dealer who indicated that the problem was caused by taking the vehicle to the car wash.*nlm

While driving at 45 mph the hood separated and flew over the top of the car. Intotraffic almost causing a accident. The top panel flew off while the hood remained latched to the car.

Last summer i purchased a 2002 mustang convertible. I noticed that one of the rock chips in the hood was starting to peel. I took the car to a local dealership for an estimate on fixing it. The body man looked up a tsb and printed it out for me. It was the bulletin on sheet metal primer. Seems the mfg used the same primer on the composite parts and as a result the paint is peeling off the entire hood. I contacted a ford executive and was told that ford would repaint my hood when it started to rust. My only question is........when do composite parts rust? i might be female but even i know that when my hood rusts that means the end of the world is near. All i want is for ford to stand behind what they make and fix the problem.

Was pulled over by police when accelerator stuck, he thought i was lying so i contacted d.a. And ticket reduced to bad muffler....right! took auto to dealership and were unable to duplicate problem. Car also shakes badly at speeds above 45mph, all the time. Private garage stated problem not with suspension.

On nov. 3rd of this year my son had a blow out with one of the new eagle ls tires. He was pulling into a driveway and hit the curb with his front right tire. He took the tire to a goodyear dealer and told him what had happened. The dealer told him that hitting the curb caused the tire to blow. This tire had only 2341 miles on it and i do not think that hitting a curb while entering a parking lot should cause this tire to blow. This past weekend i was looking over the other tires and found a bulge on the left front tire. I would like to know if you have received any other compliants about this tire. The tire which i am asking about is the p225/55r16 94t s1 eagle ls. Can you please get back to me with any information that you may have on this tire.dt

The abs light always goes on after 15-29 miles of driving, which was verified by goodyear dealer. They recommended me to go to the ford dealer because they don't have necessary equipment to diagnose the problem. So i came to the quick lane at 11200 james swart circle, fairfax, va. They called me back in 2 hours and said that everything is fine with my car and completely ignored a written statement from goodyear that the abs light came on after 12 miles of driving. Then they told me that they will keep checking, 2 days past, nobody bothered to call me. I think it's a nice denial strategy: they fail to detect what is wrong and therefore they are not responsible for a problem and don't have to fix it. Obviously it's not concern of theirs that my mustang or every mustang i've driven engages traction control every time i have to turn up to a little hill on a wet road.... I don't even have to mention slippery conditions during winter season. That's why i always appreciated this feature, but now it's turning itself off and won't come back on until the engine is off for a while. I've read multiple people complaining about this, but ford conveniently doesn't care about any of this... This is your car and you are stuck with it...i take it as ford motor company complete failure to provide drivers' safety.do i have to wait for an incident to happen or some preventive measures can be taken?

The car dies unexpectedly. The check engine light comes on but the dealer says that they cannot find anything wrong with the car. This has happened on two different occasions, (while the car is idling and when the car is in gear moving). Ford said that this has been reported on numerous occasions but they cannot fix the problem because when the diagnostic check is done no problem codes are recorded. Have you heard of this problem occurring and what can i do to get the problem fixed.

Scheduled june 2nd 2003 repair. Ford is trying to sell me an extended service plan in which it will cover a rental car during the repair. Even though the repair falls well within the factory warranty. The repair will take 3 days to complete.

Vehicle would stall on take off and eventually began to stall while in motion (45 mph) which would cause all power assisted options to fail, nearly causing many wrecks.traveling 65 mph the vehicle failed to slow and it felt as if the cruise was stuck, but the cruise had never been engaged. Taken to dealer but could not get problem to happen in service.vehicle is currently in service.dt

First incident:i was approaching my mail box to stop and get my mail out, while braking instead of stopping the car accelerated and went right past my mailbox.i drove into my stone driveway, the car continued to accelerate rapidly even though i had stopped, the tires were spinning so fast they mad ruts in my driveway.even sitting there in park, the rpm needle was racing upward. No check engine lights go on. I turned the car off.next day i went out, and car was still accelerating without me stepping on the gas.scared to drive it, i had it towed to a service center. They had it for a week and a half, never happened for them, and said unless it happens while they have it, could not determine the cause. (although they did mention a few possibilities: throttle position sensor, leakage, computer)as i was taking my car to a ford dealership on 8/9/13 for other service, i explained what happened and they said also unless the car did it while it was there they would not be able to check it out. Second incident:while driving on a highway, probably about 55-60 mph, the car on its own sped up, the rpm need seemed stuck at 3, even though i was breaking the car wasn't slowing down; and just like that, probably in 30 seconds, it recovered and ran fine.i wrote a letter on 9/6/13 to ford motor co explaining what is happening and asking for their help in identifying a solution.i received a letter back from ford motor co dated 9/16/13,they offer no assistance at all.

Dt: contact states the throttle sticks at various speeds. It overruns the brake; it does not throttle down; it accelerateswhilebraking. He does not have to havefoot on the gas at all. He noticed this happening a few months ago at high speeds of 60-65 mph. It occurs more often when the vehicle is in a downward pitch. It has occurred on a big hill and the car continued to surge forward while he was braking. After a brief period it does throttle down. He has not taken it back to the dealer. He has not yet talked to the manufacturer. He is planning to talk to ford shortly. The manufacturer's name, city, state was all that was available.

The heater core failed on my 2002 ford mustang causing the windshield to fog over with the moisture being released.

Lugs: nuts fell off. Consumer was told by dealer that he should retort lugs: nuts after so many miles. But nothing was mentioned in the driver's manual. Consumer stated that he found two other lug nuts found loose.
