I was involved in a one car accident where i lost control and jumped a curb.my car was a 2000 v6 mustang coupe.the air bags deployed when the car made contact with the curb.but i was then airborn in the car for about 12 feet and by the time my car hit the ground my air bags had deflated, causing my passenger to hit her head on the dashboard. She had her seatbelt on, and be knocked unconscious.also... When the air bags deployed theycame out with such forcethat it knocked my hands off the steering wheel, causing me to not be able to steer the car .scared that if the tires weren't straight when we would touch down that we would flip.the same incident happened 2 days ago when my friend wrecked his 20'01 gt.he had lost control of the vehicle and clipped a telephone poll doing about 50mph.he then jumped a ditch... Went airborn... And wrapped his car around a tree. The airbags deployed,but had deflated by the time he had any real contact.the airbags deployed when he clipped the telephone poll... But when he needed it most it had already deflated... Causing him to hit his head on the steering wheel and then having his head go through the windshield.airbags do not need to deflate so quickly.i think this needs to be looked into.thank you!

On may 30, 2005, our daughter was exiting a parking lot in her 2000 ford mustang.due to the fact that the exits weren''t clearly marked, she drove over the sidewalk, resulting in approximately a four inch drop off.after waiting for traffic to clear, she accelerated to exit the parking lot and both of her airbags deployed.she was fortunate that a police officer witnessed this incident.after speaking with the officer, i was assured that speed was not a factor.i also reviewed photographs of the area to view to see the drop-off and came to the conclusion that it was the equivalent of a ''highway pot-hole'', which should not have caused the premature deployment of the airbags.

Backed up car (2000 ford mustang), then shifted forward where car accelerated full throttle by itself and crashed into 2 parked cars. Car appears to be totaled but air bags did not deploy.

I was making a normal order delivery drop off going off my gps i came to a narrow road where no signs of a dip ahead. Came to a dip ahead that you couldn't tell it was a dip and i wasn't going no more than 11 to13 miles when i was coming over it and my airbags busted out of my steering wheel hitting my hand and my arm leaving burn marks. I couldn't stay on the road so i waited 30 mins before i drove slowly back to my house cause then my tire started going low.

While cleaning my spark plugs, i noticed the number #3 spark plug had oil on the spark plug thread. When i put my finger into the number #3 cylinder hole oil showed on my finger. The number #3 plug was also fouled compared to the other new plugs. This could lead to engine damage or a fire in the engine area. I heard that ford had a service bulletin on this problem, but i called ford and they said there is no service bulletin on my car for this problem. I was told by many owners that ford had a valve cover buffle to pcv valveproblem on 1999 and 2000 mustang 3.8, but they will not do any thing to correct the problem. I was told my many owners that they mod. And removed the pcv valve and replaced it with filters to stop oil getting into the cylinders. This would make it illegal and would like to see the problem corrected properly. I was told that the 2001 valve covers and up corrected this problem.

1. The car was shut off and it would not start. I had to have the vehicle towed to the ford dealership where i was informed there wasa defect in the ignition.2. The car had to have the ignition switch and components replaced. 3. The cost of the repair was approximately $1,000.

When applying brakesgear skipped and and brakes became loose. No braking power.also, consumer was having electrical problems which caused defectsin the alarm.

I bought the vehicle used on may 03, 2003 from ramey ford in tazewell, va and under the terms that they would check the clutch for vibration. Upon checking the clutch, i was advised that the clutch rod needed replaced and this was completed. After getting the vehicle back the first time, i have gone through an ongoing problem with the clutch making a vibration/rattle type noise that comes and goes even after the pressure plate, throw-out bearing, and fly-wheel were replaced. Also, for 3 1/2 to 4 months the service engine soon light would come on periodically and start blinking and then go off, this has finally stopped after 3 attempts at fixing the problem, after the pcm was reprogrammed and a coil pack was changed. For a car that looks brand new inside and out, these constant problems have been very troublesome and aggravating especially after 6 repair attempts (going on 7).

I have a 2000 ford mustang v6, and i have an ongoing problem that the dealer (magic ford, in valencia ca its been in the dealer four times) cant fix and cant find out whats wrong with the car. Whenever i drove the car and it gets hot and when i shut off the engine and try restarting the car, and the car would not start, i have to wait until the engine cool off, then the car would start, it happened to me when i stopped at the grocery store, and try starting the car and it would not start, same thing when i stopped at the gasoline station, i have to wait until it gets cool off before the would start again. Here are the history of the ongoing problem, the first time i took the car to the dealer when it was still under the warranty, the dealer told me that they dont know the problem because the computer would not give out any code, so they cant fix the car, but they know that the car would not start. Second time i brought the car to the dealer, they found out that it was the key, and the ignition, so they have to reprogram the key to send signal to the ignition, (i have to pay because it was out of the warranty, when they could have fixed the problem in the first time.) third time i took the car to the dealer they said the fuel pump was loose and the battery cable was loose (i dont think so) a week later, fourth time i took the car back, still doesnt know whats wrong with the car, its been in the dealer for 3 days now. I dont know what im going to do with this car. Please advice.

I purchased this vehicle 10/7/99 and have been taking it in for service since 10/12/99 the dealership has not fixed any of the problems w/the car, in fact my car keeps getting worse. The roof its self leaks and while removing the headliner the dealership caused dents and creases in my roof. They still haven't repaired the dents or the leak. Also, the computer has been going out since day 1 causing a fire smell which the dealership said was the sparks hitting the catalitic converter and causing problems w/the transmission. The car spark knocks constantly, dies while driving, smells like its on fire and has a hard time shifting into gear. The dealership wants to "try to fix it " as they have tried for almost 2 years but any repairs they make will not be warrantied. That is unacceptable! i have contacted a local tv station, written a letter to ford, talked to the dealership owner, called ford customer service and filled out a ford survey. After all of that, no one has been in contact with me.

While traveling and without any indication vehicle came to a complete stop. Vehicle was services.tech stated distributor needed to be replaced. The electrical brain/computer failed and the vehicle stopped abruptly.

Consumer states that after getting out of the vehicle and closing the passenger side door there was a fire that started in the door panel melting wires and other parts. Contacted dealer and the dealer noted that there was some shortage in the wiring.

This is the second saleen that we know of that the identical problem occurred, car # 0208 and mine # 0594, both due to the electrical wiring harness.i've contacted saleen, downs ford and an attorney for help.saleen told me they don't know of this ever happening before me, i have documents, name and telephone number of other party.

So i thought i had a simple thermostat issue.went to change the thermostat and noticed the manifold housing (plastic) had a nice crack in it.when doing research on this, i noticed there have been numerous complaints/instances of this happening to other people.now i am in the process of finding a new intake manifold and will have to pay to have it installed.this seems to be an issue that the department of transportation should be involved in.poor manufacture design with numerous incidents of failure that result in unnecessary high repair costs placed on the consumer.i am the original owner of this vehicle and think it is ridiculous!

Consumer states she has had to take vehicle in for several repairs, she experienced a burning smell and smoke coming from the engine, which resulted in oil getting on the engine due to dealer leaving the oil cap off, also water pump had to replaced, as well as the rocker arm gasket.

The problem is the engine stalls. This happens when the engine is warm or cold. It also happens after the clutch has been disengaged after being at speed and the rpms are decreasing to the programmed idle rpm. However, instead of stopping at the idling rpm, the engine rpm dips to low and the engine stalls. I lose power steering and brakes which cause a very dangerous situation. I also noticed that this happens more often if i am going around a turn or turning on the ac (both items require more power from the engine)while disengaging the clutch. Car since new has had a multitude of failures to include the total failure of the parking brake, total evacuation of the master brake cylinder of fluid, brake go to the floor, clutch assembly vibrates to the point it is audable in the car and can be felt in the controls, rear end claunks, the body is miss alligned, engine misses at idle, these are all problems since new, ford has just looked at the car for the fifth time and has failed to respond to major safety items.

Fuel consumption is not what it should be, vehicle is a 6cyl, 3.8 ltr engine, 15gl tank, consumer gets 200-210 miles per tank, not 320-340 as owner's manual states. Vehicle has been to dealer 4 times for this, cannot remedy. Twice vehicle was picked up by consumer and vehicle had been dented while at dealer.

Air conditioning made loud noises when running. Dealership said that the water was dropping directly on to the 1500 degree exhaust pipe causing the loud noise. Because the heat shield wasn't properly functioning, dealership placed a pipe underneath to divert the water.

Engine stalls when full braking applied at highway speeds, causing sudden loss of power assisted steering and braking.2 seperate instances. Dealer checked and found nothing noteable, made minor adjustment to throttle settings.1 week later, second instance occurred, motor dying 3 times.driver forced to place manual transmission in neutral, depress clutch, and restart motor, which restarted each time, but forced driver to attempt to start car, control car, and stop car simultaniously.

This is the 2nd air pump to be replaced onvehicle.engine check light illuminated, indicating a loss of performance.engine was sluggish and idling high at stops.ford was contacted. Please provide more information.

Upon rapid deceleration, engine stalls.when this occurs, all power assist features (brakes, steering) are lost.this has happened several times and has been dismissed as "not able to recreate" by the dealership.

Took my 2000 mustang to the dealer to repair a knocking problemi was hearing when the car accelerated. Eventually after 3 visits and talking to 3 service advisors the knocking was heard. They replaced $1300 worth of parts, and said it was fixed. Drove it no more than 10 minutes and took it right back because the knocking was not fixed. They then told me that the motor was something inside the motor. So i had it replaced. Was returned 1 week later due to a problem with it staying running. The problem was identified as a rocker arm that had come loose. The car was returned 2 weeks later for the same knocking issue that was originally reported and no one knew what is wrong with it.

Vehicle will intermittently stall when i am attempting to come to a stop.when this happens i lose my power brakes and this has caused me to have to swerve to avoid hitting the car in front of me.this has happened at least 6 times.dealer replaced fuel pump the first time.the second time the idle air control valve. And third the same iac valve.it will still stall.i believe this to be a serious safety issue and am filing the lemon law.

When clutch disengages rpms drop too low and vehicle stalls. Loses all power steering and brakes. I noticed an exhaust leak from the passengers side exhaust manifold. Turns out the weld that hold the exhaust manifold to the rest of the exhaust has failed, it is now being held up by exhaust hangers and metal strapping, until it will be repaired.

Engine check light came on so i took the car to a local dealer.he informed me that the eec test code was p0411 which deals with emissions.when the dealer removed a hose to inspect the component, water came out of the hose.the dealer informed me that the entire air pump was full of water and had "burned" out as a result.i will have to have the pump and relay replaced at a cost of $275 for parts and $120 for labor.he further informed me that this was extremely rare and he did not know how the water could have gotten in to the pump.i called ford customer care and informed them of the problem and they informed me that they had no other complaints of this nature, but would file the information away for future reference.according to the dealer, this "problem" does not affect driveability of the car, and since virginia doesn't require emissions control testing, there is no requirement to have it replaced, however, the "check engine soon" light will remain on until the air pump and relay are replaced.

Ford designed the a/c drain line located above the right exhaust pipe leading to the catalytic converter on the 3.8 liter v6 engine. The cold condensation from the a/c dripping onto the pipe causes the pipe to crack or in some cases causes the catalytic converter to rupture or crack. This is an expensive repair. I know of 3 people in my business that this has happened to in just the past 6 months. One case the converter had to be replaced and in the other 2the exhaust pipe had to be removed and welded at the cracks. Stainless steel pipes are welded different then the old steel pipes and require a special welding technique and equipment driving up the cost of the repair. This crack left unattended could lead to carbon monoxide entering the cockpit area.

Converter glowing orange and making noises equivalent to hammer hitting metal. Heat can be felt coming through driver's side floor board to the point that it feels as though heater is on high. Was told this is normal, converters run up to 1800 degrees, and should only be concerned if it hits 2000 degrees. How am i supposed to know what temperature it's running?

A/c condensation drain tube drips on exhaust manifold causing the exhaust to brake. Its an on-going problem that should be corrected. The only remedy is to weld the tube back together. From many shops i've spoken to this is a problem they see and know a lot about.

Failure just happened. Failure of the "multi-function switch" on our 2000 mustang caused the failure of the turn signals, brake lights, wipers, and speed control. Had problem looked at by several mechanics. They replaced fuses, which remedied the situation for 24 hours. Then the fuses would blow, and the systems would fail. Chevrolet dealer discovered that leaving the hazard switch in the "on" position would allow these systems to function normally, but disabled the hazard warning lights. Upon calling the local ford dealer and speaking with the service manager, i described the problem, and he said it was the "multi-function switch", and that they had replaced "a few". I have not had the repair done yet, but intend to in the very near future. Meanwhile, my daughter drives the car with the hazard switch in the "on" position in order to have brake lights, turn signals, wipers, and her speed control operable. I feel this is a serious safety issue!

When filling up with fuel, gas leaks out of the filler tube leaving a huge puddle of gasoline on the ground. This is extremely dangerous and could cause a fire. When looked at, the filler tube is rusted out. Ford should issue a recall on this, because it is so dangerous.

Every time i put fuel in the car, it starts leaking out. It leaves quite a big puddle of gas on the ground. When i stop putting gas in, the leak stops. I don't believe i am losing any at the gas tank, just when filling up.

I have written to ford concerning a fuel leak on my 2000 mustang. I was advised to take it to my dealer to diagnose the problem. The service technician informed me that the fuel filler neck was rusted out and had a hole in it due to the placement of a shield on the tube. The shield held in dirt and water which allowed it to rust. It will cost approximately $431.35 to repair. This problem was caused by a design flaw by ford. It is extremely dangerous. I cannot put gas in my car when my children are in it for fear that it will catch on fire. The gas just pours out onto the pavement. Ford needs to issue a recall on this immediately. I should not have to pay for ford?s mistake. I have a copy of the invoice as well as the repair quote from ramey ford in johnson city,tn. I will fax it to you if you wish. Ford has sent me an email stating that not all complaints get investigated. This is a serious safety issue. These cars could possibly catch on fire and explode if this problem is not addressed. All mustang owners whose cars have had this shield placed on the fuel filler tube need to be aware of this safety hazard before someone gets seriously injured or killed. This issue needs to be investigated and fixed immediately. I don't know if any other mustang owners have reported this to the nhtsa but i have seen postings from mustang owners on several internet forums complaining about this same issue. I noticed a fuel leak when i filled up my tank.it was quite bad! and was a definite safety risk!i checked under car and found the fuel neck has a plastic cover to protect from road hazards??that plastic cover allows dirt and moisture to collect around the fuel neck.the neck inside was rusted completely through.there is essentially a 2 inch hole in the fuel neck!i had to replace the entire fuel neck to fix the problem.i checked online and apparently this is very common with 1999 - 2004 mustangs.it's also very dangerous since gas comes pouring out of the bottom of the car.

So i thought i had a simple thermostat issue.went to change the thermostat and noticed the manifold housing (plastic) had a nice crack in it.when doing research on this, i noticed there have been numerous complaints/instances of this happening to other people.now i am in the process of finding a new intake manifold and will have to pay to have it installed.this seems to be an issue that the department of transportation should be involved in.poor manufacture design with numerous incidents of failure that result in unnecessary high repair costs placed on the consumer.i am the original owner of this vehicle and think it is ridiculous!

Fuel filler neck leaks.this occurs directly over the hot exhaust pipe of the vehicle. The gasoline drips directly on the exhaust pipe under the bend. And next to the gas tank.this is a very dangerous situation as i had a long way to go home and didn't have any water to wash the hot pipes of fuel. The gas continued to drip on the pipe most of the way home. My kids could have been in the back seat if the car caught fire.i have read that this is a common problem on 2000 mustangs. My gas tank began leaking fuel before i drove it in the first part of 2011. Not only was the grommet corroded but the filler pipe was leaking. I was unaware of the leak in the pipe because of the plastic tube around it and was led to believe it was either just the grommet or the tank itself. I got the grommet replaced and then through process of elimination found that the pipe needs replacing as well.the replacement process was so easy because so many people have had the same issue with mustangs from '99-'04. This is a dangerous defect because the gas leak can cause gas vapors to get trapped underneath the car and ignite easily. Gas vapors are light but still heavy enough to where they will not disperse completely from underneath the car. Gas also evaporates very quickly so this could happen in the short amount of time it takes to fuel your car. Every ford/mustang forum i have read indicates that mustangs tend to wear out these two parts too quickly. They should be recalled and substituted with a better part (both the gas tank grommet and filler pipe).

I went to fill up my gas tank and after 12 gallons smelled gas everywhere and noticed gas racing out from under my car. There had to be atleast half a gallon surrounding my shoes and if there had been a spark i would have been burned to death. After researching this problem on the internet i found out that hundreds of other people that own mustangs between the years of 1999 and 2004 have all had the same problem with what ford calls a defective gas nozzle grommet. Not something the 1999-2004 mustang is a stranger too. I remember the 1974 pinto and i owned one i really am uncomfortable with the thought that my mustang is even more prone to explosions then my old pinto. While driving 45 mph on the highway the hood of the vehicle flew up.this action caused the hood to be bent and the top of the vehicle to be damaged.the dealer has been notified.

Car since new has had a multitude of failures to include the total failure of the parking brake, total evacuation of the master brake cylinder of fluid, brake go to the floor, clutch assembly vibrates to the point it is audable in the car and can be felt in the controls, rear end claunks, the body is miss alligned, engine misses at idle, these are all problems since new, ford has just looked at the car for the fifth time and has failed to respond to major safety items.

Dt: the contact owns a 2000 ford mustang. While the vehicle is parked on a hill and the emergency brake is on the vehicle will continue to roll down a hill. The vehicle was purchased in november 2003. The repair shop said that it was something wrong with the emergency brake.the emergency brake, but this vehicle was not included in the recall due to vin,according to the dealership and the manufacturer. In most cases after the vehicle had been parked for a while with the emergency brake on the vehicle would continue to roll. Also, the contact hasbeen having problems with front driver and passenger seat belts. The passenger side seat belt was worse. I bought the vehicle used on may 03, 2003 from ramey ford in tazewell, va and under the terms that they would check the clutch for vibration. Upon checking the clutch, i was advised that the clutch rod needed replaced and this was completed. After getting the vehicle back the first time, i have gone through an ongoing problem with the clutch making a vibration/rattle type noise that comes and goes even after the pressure plate, throw-out bearing, and fly-wheel were replaced. Also, for 3 1/2 to 4 months the service engine soon light would come on periodically and start blinking and then go off, this has finally stopped after 3 attempts at fixing the problem, after the pcm was reprogrammed and a coil pack was changed. For a car that looks brand new inside and out, these constant problems have been very troublesome and aggravating especially after 6 repair attempts (going on 7).

I have purchased a used 2000 ford mustang and to make a long story short the transmission will not go into gear unless i rev the rpms up very high and i am interested in keeping this vehicle so i looked on line and found this is a very common problem with this car, i have went from site to site, i don't mind paying for the repair if need be, but this is dangerous, i don't want to injury myself or anyone else. I have found there is a problem with the design and needs to be corrected. I would like to know what is the solution and cause of this problem. I want to thank you so much for your time.

The car has died while engaging the clutch over five times. When we took it to ford dealer they said they could not find a problem or that they could not recreate it. When the car dies you lose all power steering brakes etc, which in the right situation could be and is very dangerous. Now the car is off warranty so this is on;y route i knew to go. Something is wrong, other people have complained of same problem so it needs to be corrected.

Vehicle has 24000 miles on it. At approx. 12000 miles the clutch lost travel distance, and could not be adjusted using the manual adjustment procedure. Clutch froze one morning after a very cold sub-zero night. Upon starting vehicle with clutch partially engaged, clutch burned. Then fell out of 4th gear while traveling at 40 mph. Dealer claims it is a wear item and bad driving resulted in pressure plates being unusually worn, a problem with the linkage was also noted but not assessed as contributing to the worn plates. Customer contends the linkage failed and caused continuous rubbing of pressure plates inside transmission ultimately leading to failure, and should be addressed by manufacturer. Premature wear of the plates is most likely linked to the failure in the linkage and the failure of the self adjusting clutch to in effect, self adjust when the pedal is pulled up and pushed down as recommended in the manual. Suspect this may also be a problem with the parts original to vehicle.ts

Car since new has had a multitude of failures to include the total failure of the parking brake, total evacuation of the master brake cylinder of fluid, brake go to the floor, clutch assembly vibrates to the point it is audable in the car and can be felt in the controls, rear end claunks, the body is miss alligned, engine misses at idle, these are all problems since new, ford has just looked at the car for the fifth time and has failed to respond to major safety items.

I have a little problem. There is a clunking noise coming from the drivetrain. It only happens at the begining of acceleration, if i let offthe gas and then reapply it; it clunks again. I thought that it might be excessive backlash in the rear, but they checked that and said it was up to spec. They (bob thomas ford of hamden ct) said that it was the rear crossmember to the transmission they tightened this up. This helped it a little but not completely. I'm thinking of going to another dealer .

Vehichle has had a vibration since it was new.the dealer assured me that it could be repaired.i have had the vehicle back twice. My car is less than 2 years old and i was told that because it has more than 36,000 miles on it. They will not warranty it. I think there must be a problem with this transmission. They are designed to last longer than 2 years. Has anyone else reported this problem?

The back frame of the driver's seat was fractured and the vehicle's owner was concern that the back of the seat could collapse at any time and create a severe or fatal accident. The top part of the seat is secured with only one bolt witch snaped, allowing the top half (back support)of the seat to fold completely back words on to the back seat. I wheigh about 180 lb, if there was some on in the back they may have been hurt, and i had to rely on holding the steering wheel to prevent me from fallingback. To repair i had to drill the remaing half of the bolt out, and then rethred the whole, and insert a new bolt.

I 'm having problems with the brakes of my mustang gt 2000. This car has only 13500 driving miles and for threeoccasions i had been with the brakes because its has the sticking problems (front left side and rear right side). Car since new has had a multitude of failures to include the total failure of the parking brake, total evacuation of the master brake cylinder of fluid, brake go to the floor, clutch assembly vibrates to the point it is audable in the car and can be felt in the controls, rear end claunks, the body is miss alligned, engine misses at idle, these are all problems since new, ford has just looked at the car for the fifth time and has failed to respond to major safety items.

I purchased this vehicle 10/7/99 and have been taking it in for service since 10/12/99 the dealership has not fixed any of the problems w/the car, in fact my car keeps getting worse. The roof its self leaks and while removing the headliner the dealership caused dents and creases in my roof. They still haven't repaired the dents or the leak. Also, the computer has been going out since day 1 causing a fire smell which the dealership said was the sparks hitting the catalitic converter and causing problems w/the transmission. The car spark knocks constantly, dies while driving, smells like its on fire and has a hard time shifting into gear. The dealership wants to "try to fix it " as they have tried for almost 2 years but any repairs they make will not be warrantied. That is unacceptable! i have contacted a local tv station, written a letter to ford, talked to the dealership owner, called ford customer service and filled out a ford survey. After all of that, no one has been in contact with me.

I bought my mustang in 2001 and the paint on the roof of my car is rusting/cracking from the inside out. On 6/22/2000, i purchased a new ford mustang gt from galpin motors (la, ca).approximately six weeks later, i took the car in for an oil change at another ford dealership.while at this dealership, they showed me the undercarriage of the car.it was corroding at a progressive rate. The car was manufactured in december 1999. I immediately drove to galpin motors and was advised that they would not roll back or buy back the car.their position is that the corrosion can be cleaned up by the use of steel wool.i am concerned that parts on the undercarriage of the car may cause a safety hazard as time continues.the dealership viewed the car and stated that it was simply surface rust.my contention is that the car should not be in this state 7 months after the date of manufacture. Obviously, i was not aware of this problem, and i would have never purchased this car if this problem had been disclosed to me.as a result of an arbitration process, the dealership has to replace the entire stainless steel exhaust system and undercoat the bottom of this vehicle.unfortunately, iwas told by the service manager that only eighty percent of the rust can be cleaned up.the car is currently at the dealership for repair.thank you for your attention in this matter.

I have a little problem. There is a clunking noise coming from the drivetrain. It only happens at the begining of acceleration, if i let offthe gas and then reapply it; it clunks again. I thought that it might be excessive backlash in the rear, but they checked that and said it was up to spec. They (bob thomas ford of hamden ct) said that it was the rear crossmember to the transmission they tightened this up. This helped it a little but not completely. I'm thinking of going to another dealer .

Purchased vehicle from used car lot on 5/14/2004.had suspicion that vehicle had been wrecked and repaired.they assured me that they do not sell vehicles like that and it was never in an accident.i received a statement from an auto body shop stating that the vehicle has been wrecked and repaired and still has suspension damage.the dealership i purchased the vehicle from thinks i am lying and trying to get out of a contract.i have taken pictures of the vehicle and its damages.i have also obtained a car fax report stating that there was an accident reported in washington state with a police report # and a accident report #.since the vehicle was purchased, it drove really squirmy, pulled to both sides of the vehicle and had a problem when it was test drove.they thought it was brakes and it actually was a problem with the gears.the brakes were ok, they were not the best and did not stop the vehicle that well.the vents in the vehicle were broken out, which i fixed the best i could, the shift box inside the vehicle had the protective cover missing and the shifter indicator that lets you know what gear you are in did not move at all.

I was making a normal order delivery drop off going off my gps i came to a narrow road where no signs of a dip ahead. Came to a dip ahead that you couldn't tell it was a dip and i wasn't going no more than 11 to13 miles when i was coming over it and my airbags busted out of my steering wheel hitting my hand and my arm leaving burn marks. I couldn't stay on the road so i waited 30 mins before i drove slowly back to my house cause then my tire started going low.

The paint is cracking and peeling all over the roof of my 2 1/2 year old mustang.it started as one spot, now there is a large hole with rust underneath it.there are about 13 small cracks in the paint on the roof where it is peeling, and other spots on the hood and front bumper.i have been to my dealer 4-5 times to attempt repair and financial reimbursement, only to get the runaround.a ford rep supposedly looked at it, after ford offered to pay half the $400 estimate, but they have not made attempts to contact me.the dealer is mossy ford in san diego, ca. I have discovered that ford repainted my vehicle before selling it to me as "new".the thickness is 10mm on the paint; average is 3-4. A repainted car is obvious upon inspection of paint specialists.rust from underneath the vehicle has "popped up" and cracked the paint coming from the inside.

I loseall powersteering and brakes causing me to miss stop signs, cannot corner due to loss of steering etc. Ford knows it has a problem with 1999 and 2000 mustang gt but has no fix and is telling the dealers to do nothing!!!!! my family's and my life are in danger and i feel as though this should come under the lemon law. It does not happen everytime but the car cannot find it's idle speed until the car is at a dead stop. Sometimes it goes to 1000 rpm and sometimes as low as 400 rpm at which time it stalls.

Backed up car (2000 ford mustang), then shifted forward where car accelerated full throttle by itself and crashed into 2 parked cars. Car appears to be totaled but air bags did not deploy.

Whenvehicle is put into gear, from park to drive/reverse,and when vehicle comes to a stop, it will accelerate suddenly for a moment, then stop. This happens mostly during cold weather conditions, and will happenfrom 25 to 50 percent of the time. Dealership could not determine any defect.a second dealership replacedtorque converter, and verified that there was a problem.itwas a possible software defect - no upgrade available to repair defect.please provide any additional information/attachments.

Upon deceleration, vehicle drops idle to 400-500 rpm and fluctuates.sometimes stalls, causing loss of power steering, and brakes.vehicle was serviced, replaced idle air control valve, reducing intensity and frequency of problem, not correcting it.car has been taken in for service three seperate times, twice they could find nothing wrong with the vehicle.upon consulting with other 2000 mustang gt owners, it is common problem.some vehicles are still stalling heavily upon deceleration.if vehicle stalls, power brakes and steering are lost without warning, possible causing an accident.i am encouraging others with same problem to report to nhsta.this problem was reported to ford consumer relations today, 5/10/01.this problem occurs on 99-2000 mustang gt with manual transmission.

When i come to complete stops, (e.g. @ a red light) the tachometer slowly rises to 3,000 - 3,500 rpm's and the engine compartment shakes and roars as if i am accelerating.this has occurred at least 35 times since the original occurrence on 12/19/1999.i have not driven the vehicle since 02/29/1999.the car has been to two ford dealerships six time to fix the problem.the following items have been replaced: air bypass valve, iac (3 times - they claimed each one, including the original was faulty), on board computer.yet the problem still persists.ford has finally agreed to reacquire my vehicle.i have spoken to other 2000 mustang gt owners (all with vehicles built in 09/1999) they also have idle issues.the two i have spoken with have a reverse problem.theirs idle so low, the vehicle stalls.i think ford should look into the gt's that were built early in the model year.i have not heard of anything with the gt's built later in the year.

Car is irratic and engages into cruise control and out of cruise control whenever.

Ford mustang 2000 was totaled in a frontal crash after accelerator got stuck but air bags did not deploy. Capital ford at 4222 oleander drive in wilmington, nc repaired the air bags in 2002.

Fter starting vehicle rpms go up and down. Then , when putting vehicle in reverse it launches backward very fast. Driver has to slam on brakesto stopvehicle.

Engine stalls when full braking applied at highway speeds, causing sudden loss of power assisted steering and braking.2 seperate instances. Dealer checked and found nothing noteable, made minor adjustment to throttle settings.1 week later, second instance occurred, motor dying 3 times.driver forced to place manual transmission in neutral, depress clutch, and restart motor, which restarted each time, but forced driver to attempt to start car, control car, and stop car simultaniously.

Took vehicle in for a oil change dealer stated to the consumer that the transmission had a leak. Also the vehicle is idling very high consumer states that the vehicle will go as fast as 15 mph without putting her foot on the accelerator pedal. Nlm

Over the past year my 2000 ford mustang has accelerated by itself without my foot on the gas peddle..and its a 5 speed ...(stick shift) thank goodness i have been able to throw it into neuteral and then i have to slam the gas peddle down to the floor to get it to unstick ..both times have been on a busy highway during rush hour traffic...when i asked ford to look at it ..they told me they couldnt find anything wrong with it .. I had taken it in to have the catalitic converter fixed..and they said that might have been the problem but in talking it over with my brother (who is a car mechanic)he didnt think that the catalitic conv. Would have nothing to do with the accelerator sticking like that !.. It hasnt happened in a while but its very nerve wracking when it does/not sure if this has happened to any other mustangs out there..

While driving 25mph gas pedal broke. Pedal gets looseand breaks. Contacted dealer.

At times, my engine revs very high.i can actually continue to accelerate without depressing the gas pedal.when coming to a stop, the engine will rev up to nearly 4000 rpm with the clutch pedal pressed, and my other foot braking.once i stop the car, the rpms then decrease but still stay on the high side (1500 rpms).also, when going throughout the shift sequence (1st to 2nd to 3rd etc... Each time i press the clutch, the rpms shoot up).i am an engineer, business owner, and somewhat intelligent man.there are no obstructions to the accelerator cable that i can see, and no, my foot is not on the gas pedal.this is a real problem.it makes driving... Interesting to say the least, and in the hands of someone less capable, this would cause a severe risk.

Complaint on my 2000 ford mustang coupe(orginal owner ). Vehicle has problems relating to the position of the carpet around the accelerator pedal. After minimal use of the vehicle ( 5000 miles or around 3-5 months of use) a large hole developed on the right side of the accelerator pedal. If theaccelerator is depressed fully or almost fully the side of your shoe can catch on the hole long enough to pose a saftey hazard of not being able to take your foot immeadatly off the accelerator pedal. I have had this happen on several occasions, and have to be very concious of my foot position on the accelerator pedal when driving to prevent this problem now that i am aware of it. Ford deems this problem as normal wear and tear on the car and would not cover replacement of the carpet under my bumper to bumper warrenty.(which is now expired)pictures are available, please contact and i will forward them to you.

Engine idle flucuates between 350 and 1000 rpm's dropping sporadically.

Idle set too high at stop light idles up to 2000, jerks forward, dealership unable to fix.

Vehicles drivers side rearview mirror and window contain yellow spots, consumer was informed by dealer to contact his insurance carrier, dealer informed consumer that yellow spots were possibly due from heavy rain.

Pymnt. Spoke to ''all managers" come back w/lawyer was what they told me.dt

While turning on the heat defogger it failed to come on.the ventswould blow out cold air.this caused poor visibility to see properly.the driver was able drive to the dealer for inspection.the mechanic replaced the defogger.the driver informed the mechanic that this problem has happen more than once and has not been resolved.please fill in additional information.

Both drivers side, and passenger side automatic windows will not stay on track.since the day of purchase, both windows have been intermittently sluggish, and on occasion, struggled to move up or down.the drivers side window came off the track first, and was repaired under warranty in 2002.after 3 attempts by the local dealership in 2005 to repair both windows, they remain inoperable.in florida, vehicles are always at risk for underwater submersion, quick action along with properly functioning windows are imperative.

Drivers side window comes out of track, out of alignment and raises higher than the vinyl roof so the door doesn't close. This has happened 4 times between 3/22/01 - 7/31/01. The last 2 times it malfunctioned, the dealer completely replaced the whole window and regulator. But again it's failed!

When clutch disengages rpms drop too low and vehicle stalls. Loses all power steering and brakes. Dealer can not identifycause.consumer adds engine stalls easier if a/c is on, and/or whenbrakes are applied.dealer replaced powertrain control module and mass air flow, but problem still exist. Also consumer is a hearing metallic ticking noise on cold engine.air bladder deflates after 1/2 hour.dealer replaced seat air bladder.drivers side front and back window will not seal after rolling up at times.

Drivers side window falling off alignment, window not closing properly when lowering or raising, left front power window regulator replaced, problem continues.

Emergency brake lever stayed up, and the brakes were not engaged. Also,multi- function switch was replaced, and windshield wipers fluid will constantly come out onto the windshield.

Front passenger tire broke off from its rim while driving. *mr the right front tire with it's rim frame had broken off from the center base.there was a series of body/chassis damage and the air bag(s) did not deploy. *sc
