Air bag did not inflate fully in a front end collision.

Vehicle was involved in an accident, neither front airbags deployed

Passive restraint system disables my ignition (it seems) sometimes when i put my key in to start the car. The alarm light blinks rapidly and if i take out my key and re insert it,i will hear a small noise like a mechanism resetting and then my car will start. 3 attempts to put on diagnostic machine..failed to diagnose.

On may 5, 2016, i was driving on hwy 395 (nevada). Driving at approximately 40 mph due to rain/hail. I felt my car begin to hydroplane, and then began to spin out of control across the hwy. At least 5 complete circles until i slammed into a concrete wall where the car came to a stop. My airbags did not deploy. The drivers seat bolts broke upon impact as well. No other cars were involved, but i suffered multiple bruises on my rt. Arm, as well as severe whiplash and internal bruising from seat breaking free upon impact. My back/spine are in serious pain due to being knocked out of alignment when the seat broke, and airbags did not deploy. I did not file a claim with my insurance company, as i only have liability insurance, however i do have an accident case number from the nevada highway patrol: # 160500374 date: 05/05/2016 time: 9:56 am

Stirring-wheel airbags did not deploy on getting hit head-but on the passenger side did deploy but due to the defect stirring wheel airbag not deploying the driver to hit the windshield

Air bag light malfunctioned.

Vehicle was rear ended and collidedwith another vehicle. Upon impact, driver's seatback collapsed, and restraints released.also,airbags did not deploy, resuling in minor injuries. Ford will be notified.

Air bags continued to smoke approximately 15 minutes after deployment, due to crash, and fire department had to use co2 to prevent fire.

Upon impact the airbag did not deploy. The airbag deployed after the driver exited the vehicle.when the air bag finally deployed,it caused the driver's head to go into the windshield .the drive sustained severe injuries to thehead.the manufacturer has been notified.

While drivingand without hitting a bump, both driver's side and passenger's side airbags deployed. Driver lost control of the vehicle, and hit several trees. Vehicle has not been seen.

When traveling about 50 mph vehicle was involved in a head-on collision(impact speed between 30-40 mph), and there was no deployment of the air bags. The vehicle has not been repaired. Damages totalling $4,614. 51.

I went to the passenger's side of the car to place my briefcase, and my gym bag inside. I then put the passenger seat up, i placed my briefcase on the seat, and i shut thepassenger side door.as i shut the door, i heard a loud sound of what i thought was icecracking off the car.i went over to the drivers side and found the window completely shattered and blown out of the car.at least 80% of the glass from the window was on the outside of the car, on the ground.. I was shocked to see the window shattered in such a way because i assumed all of the windows in my car had safety glass.this evently disturbed me because if there had been a child or a passenger in that back seat when i had closed that door, they would have been injured. When i first leased my mustang in july of 1998, i had problems putting that window up after having my convertible top down.it would take me 2 or 3 tries of pressing the electric switch up and down until that window finally squealed its way all the way up the track. I now believe that the back driver's side window was not put into the track properly, causing severe pressure on the glass.thecombination of extreme cold weather and pressure finally caused the glass to shatter with the vibrations of closing the door.this caused the window to blow outwards, and all over the ground.due to this defect, i feel the expense to repair this window should be the responsibility of the ford motor company.

The contact owns a 1998 ford mustang. Immediately after the vehicle was purchased, it was inspected by an independent mechanic. The mechanic diagnosed that the ignition wires and engine needed to be replaced. The mechanic also diagnosed that the vehicle needed to be properly aligned. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 112,000.

The contact owns a 1998 ford mustang which was purchased brand new in 1998. The vehicle was parked in front of his home when he noticed flames coming from the rear end of the vehicle. He immediately attempted to extinguish the fire to no avail. The fire department was called and were able to extinguish the fire. The fire marshall stated that the origin of the fire was electrical and also included that in the police/fire report filed at the scene. The vehicle was destroyed. The contact was not aware if there were any open recalls on the vehicle. The failure and current mileages were 150,000.

On startup, most often but not limited to after sitting overnight, engine produces a 'clicking' or 'racheting' noise. When ignition is turned to off, starter grinds and makes horrible noise as if 'starting a car that is already running'... In order to turn engine off first i must crank key to start position, where starter then grinds and whirs because engine is running, then back to off position before engine will kill.i have never driven car when car starts up with 'clicking/racheting' noise... I always turn it off and restart it. Problem occurred after 1 month of ownership and is seemingly random?... # of occurances is approx.10-15 times over 3 years... 2 different dealerships could not locate cause or reproduce problem... Strange.

Radio quit working as did the cigarette lighter the same day and then about a week later the theft light came on and stayed on for about 10 minutes and then went off.then last week the dash lights quit working and replaced fuse, but still no lights and air bag light came on and stayed on.we put in new radio 2 weeks ago.we put it in shop last week to have checked and they tell me that it's the radio that has been causing problems.well how could radio you just installed cause probs back in december? they have my grandmother believing them.cost her $269.they reprogramed the computer and put in 4 fuses, but did not fix the so called radio problem, and told her that lucky the radio didnt make the car explode and catch fire??said that the hot and ground were crossed but we had them tested and they werent. They also said that the radio was pulling 3 times the power that it should. I think that they didnt want to honor the warranty, and were finding somethng to blame it on. Because if it were the radio, why didnt they fix that instead of reprogramming the computer and replacing fuses??

Service engine light comes on and stays on for a period of time then goes off.this has been happening for sometime before warranty expired but has not been taken to a dealer to be checked.rear suspension feels as if the shock absorbers have already failed, causing harder than normal shocks specially when hitting small bumps or deeps on the road.key gets stock on the ignition when parking and attempting to remove the key.vehicle has been in two different dealers in an attemp to correct the failure but it continues to happen.appreciate any assiatance and suggestions you can provide with respect to similar problems reported to you.

If i use the turn signals my rear, right(passenger) brake light will quit working.if i use it again it sometimes turns back on. I have been told that sometimes they dont work when i turn on my car, and have not used my turn signals. On occasions when i switch on my highbeams my headlights go off all together.

While driving on the interstate the vehiclestalled when i tried to restartthe car i pulled off the road and this when i noticed fire coming out from above the right front tire this car was manufactured with a fiberglass hood which is very flamable the hood caught fire whichcaught the top on firewhich fell into the interior which caught fire and resulted in a total loss of vehicle if this was a wreck andi was trapped in the car when the engine and hood caught fire this would have resulted in a loss of life, ford should not have installed a fiberglass hood on a convertable ,when i contacted them about the fire they were very cold and seemed to not care that a car they built with only 25,000 miles on it burst into flames while being driven down the road.

While the consumer was driving they witnessed smoke coming from the ventilation vents.after witnessing the smoke, the consumer pulled over and got out of the vehicle.the instrument panel caught flames.a nearby driver put the fire out with the extinguisher, and the fire department was contacted.they determined that the fire was caused by a loose wire that touched the metal and sparked a fire.the dealership has been contacted but not the manufacturer.

While sitting at a red light consumer smelled smoke and then noticed smoke coming from the dashboard.got out the vehicle and the fire started. Another consumer standing three cars from her helped to put the fire out.

Intake manifold developed a crack in the housing under the thermostat. This was reported as tsb 97m91.

Check engine light remains on. Was told faulty head gasket. Losing coolant with no visable leaks. Estimated $1200.00 repair at least. With the number of complaints regarding the ford 3.8 c.i. Engine why have there been no recalls for the mustang unlike the tauris? (same engine)

I recently purchased a 1999 ford mustang with a 1998 used engine installed into it. I only had 1 real problem with it and it was my exhaust. I had that fixed and ran great for the next day. Less then 36 hrs after the exhaust was fixed and after sitting for about 15 hrs or so, which wasfrom around 9:45 pm friday the 21st toaround 12:30 to 1:00 pm on the 22nd of august. A neighbor came pounding on our door telling us our car was on fire!!!! he also stated that he heard what sounded like someone was trying to start it from a distance. Well we don't have a remote starter for this car, it only unlocks the car and trunk, does not start it.we believe it was electrical in nature and need to find out what happened as i only had liability ins. And now i have lost my car and have nothing...... I have pictures of my car just melting away, the entire front of it. I loved this car,i wasn't even finished paying for it. I still owe $1395 on it and i only had it for about 7 months. Fire marshall is still investigating it. I believe he said it possibly started on the passenger side where there was a box above the tire area with wires in it. What were these wires, what were they for as i couldn't see anything matching that description on a 1998 engine image...???this was the first and only real problem we had, the engine light was always on from the time of purchase, seller did fix but light came back on in about 1 week and was on until fire.

Excessive wear of rear brake shoes due to defective caliper. Vehicle experienced a head gasket failure due to water pump breaking offbracket, and causing a serpentine belt failure. Dealer / manufacturer notified, and informed consumer that nothing would be done due toexpired warranty, and vehicle was not covered under a recall. Consumer had water pump casing and bills on request.

Ford motor co. Does not recognize this to be a problem, and stated that there is nothing they can do for their consumers at this time, when there has been problems with a similar issue with other vehicles (explorer). No safety defect mentioned.

Valve cover leak (twice), repairs were done. The camshaft position sensor was replaced which remedied the check engine light, due to failure.

Car continually overheated, brought in several times to dealer and never completely fixed.then it completely blew the engine due to the head gaskets failing.

I have made numerous attempts to solve this situation and no one seems to want to be of assistance please contact me as soon as possible. No safety defect listed in summary.

I had to purchase an extended warranty with the first replacement and may have to pay some type of deductible with this subsequent replacement. Looking for repeated incidents with the cobra 4.6 engine.just for clarification, the dealer has been more than helpful in attempting to resolve the problem, but the engines being delivered appear to be remanufactured engines.

While traveling at approx. 25 mph driver proceeded to make a right hand turn when in the curve vehicle suddenly lost all power. Engine quit, driver had no control over steering or brakes. Accident occurred striking two vehicles. 2 cars determined to be totalled, 3rd car being evaluated for loss. Outdoor temps were noted to be in high ninety's to low 100's. Cause of engine shut down unknown at this time, but possible vapor lock problem may have existed.

The stalling problem is a major safety hazard. The car stalls when the brake pedal is depressed (in neutral gear). The power steering and power brakes also lose power, causing me to do whatever not to crash. I know of other mustangs noticing the same problem. My car was serviced at the dealer for this specific problem, but failed to fix it.

Consumer was driving at 20-25 mph and suddenlyvehicle lost all power. Engine just shut down, leaving consumer with no control of the steering/ abssystem. Went to stop by applying the brakes and crashed over some bumps in the street. Dealer has been contacted.

Everytime the occupant fills the gas tank up gas fumes enter into vehicle,causing occupant to feel sick, andcan result ina crash.there is a tsb to replace the fuel lines etc. But problem is still occurring.please provide further information and vin#.

The mass air flow sensor was replaced.

Dt*:the contact stated while driving any speed, antifreeze leaked heavily from the vehicle.a private repair shop inspected the vehicle and determined that the intake manifold was cracked.also, while driving 75 mph, there was a clicking noise heard, and the hood raised slightly as if it was not shut properly.the contact pulled over and shut it again.the repair shop was unable to determine the cause of that problem.

1.convertible roof was out of alignment when car was received, .25# gaps between seals of front section of folding roof.2.harsh noise was heard when braking and turning, diagnosed to be "water dripping on exhaust pipe" by dealer(?!!)a/c also not strong-possibly replaced (never fully told) brake shoes/pads also worked on. 3.while driving on highway, going uphill, car began slowing down, pulled onto shoulder as car stopped.diagnosed as fuel pump failure.

Consumer smelled antifreeze.looked under the hood and discovered a cracked intake manifold.the vehicle was not operable.

While driving vehicle overheated on its own. Vehiclehesitated while accelerating, then stalled.consumerwas unable to restartvehicle, and had the vehicle towed to dealer. Mechanicdetermined that the intake manifold needed to be replaced.this vehicle was not recalled by vinor under warranty. Consumer informed the mechanic thatpart number f8a2-9424-bc,notification #97m91for intake manifold was recalled. Mechanicinsisted that recall was not for this vehicle.

Intake manifold has cracked and has resulted in water leaking from manifold.consumer has made all necessary repairs to vehicle.

Consumer states that the plastic intake manifoldcracked. As a result, the coolant leaked onto the engine.

There was a class action lawsuit, if the settlement goes through it will be appealed.therefore, ford was not doing anything about the problem.

While driving the vehicle at 60 mph started to smell anti-freeze. When i checked the engine compartment.i found that the left side of the plastic, intake manifold had cracked an was leaking anti-freeze.contacted dealer, they wanted $580 for a new manifold plus labor to put it on.i feel that if a manufacture puts an intake manifold on on of thier vehicles it shoud last for the lifetime of the vehicle and should not have cracked, i think this is poor enginering, and should be replaced free of charge by the dealer, since ford has replace all police vehicle intakes.

Owner's manual states when key turned on and not buckled, warning light should appear 1-2 minutes & chime should sound 4-8 seconds.this consistently does not happen.

When the headlights are on they could go off at anytime without warning.to turn them back on i either have to pull back on the "multi function switch" or turn on the left or right turn signal.even after doing that the headlights will go off at anytime and as many times.the ford service rep and the csaa rep indicated it could be a faulty "multi function switch".i purchased this vehicle recently from a personal friend who is the original owner.also i had a 1994 ford mustang which had the faulty "multi function switch" replaced because the washer fluid was not spraying when it was turned on.it's just too much of a coincidence to have faulty "multi function switch" replaced.there should be more research done on the replacement of the "switch" to confirm that a "recall" is in order.thank you.

The vehicles multi-function switch failed which caused the right turn signal, hazard lights and the right front parking lamp to fail.*nlm

My husband i purchased a 1998 rouch mustang gt.the conversion kit includes side pipes, computer chip, different suspension, and some things im not sure of.i have been having problems with raw fuel smell coming into cab of car.it get's very bad.it only happens when it is 85 degrees or above.and only happens randemly.one day while driving my daughter from school, fuel smell came into cab.daughter and i gaged.pulled over and shut car off. Took car to dealer, they said they were waiting for new fuel line from the roush company.i was told that the rouch cars needed different fuel line then that of the manufacturer.they said they fixed the problem.then my husband and i were going to daytona.it happened again.pulled into dealership shut car off with windows down.ten to fifteen minutes gone by before george nagel the service manager sat in it.he kept car do to he smell of fuel. And that isafter the car sitting there airing out.he smelled it coming from the vents.they said they fixed it .happened again.now goerge is saying that he does not know if it was gas or emmisions that he smelled. My car know sits in my driveway, i am renting a car.i am doing lemon law.i was told by an attorney if i can not prove my case they will lean towards the manufacure. There is a serious problem with my car.i am afraid of this car.i have owned mustangs for many years now.thats all i have owned.i love my car.i'm afraid to drive it. But my safety is at risk.please help me.

Car is hard to start or long start cycle, fuel pump check valve leaking requiring fuel pump replacement.

While traveling at 70 mphthe vehicle lost power, forcing an emergency exit from the highway.the vehicle was towed to the nearest ford dearlership and we were advised that a technical service bulletin had been issued advising dealersthat there was a problem with a wax ring in the fuel system that was breaking apart and the wax pieces were lodging in the fuel pump casing the car to lose power.no recalls had been issued because we were told the cars were all still under warranty.

Intake manifold is cracked in the exact same place on the exact same part that had recalls the two previous years. Recall number 97m91. I called ford and they said my vin isn't covered. Obviously, whatever they did to "fix" the problem didn't work. There are also select vin's that are covered for the exact same problem in my year car. Why would they only replace certain manifolds? they could have had left over intakes from the previous years faulty batch that they installed on various cars from my year, and think they will get away with not replacing it because my vin isn't showing up as made in factory "x" which had faulty parts made from a bad casting. Curiously, the intakes from the two previous years have a 7 year no-questions-asked replacment program going on for the same car, same model, same engine. What did ford do to alleviate the problem for my year car? my guess is nothing. Also, the way we found the crack initially was by a suggestion from a ford parts/service tech who specifically told me to "check the intake for a crack under the thermostat housing". Isn't that a little too coincidental????

The first time the car just quite on the highway while driving in rush hour traffic while we were on vacation. The second time it lost power and was starting very hard (10 to 15 sec. To start). Both times it was loss of fuel pressure and needed a fuel pump assembly. The fuel pump its self was fine, but a small clear flexible hose that attaches from the fuel pump/basket assembly in the gas tank to the lid that bolts on the top of the gas tank rubs against various parts inside the gas tank and wears a hole in it. Since this estimated $2 item cannot be purchased separately i was forced to spend hundreds of dollars on the whole assembly. The mechanics at the dealership explained to me that 90% of the "fuel pump failures" have had nothing to really due with the fuel pump. It was either the hose inside the gas tank rubbing through or the wires inside rubbing through. Why is there no recall for this? i would ask for a push for the hoses but if the wiring in the gas tank is wearing through also it needs to be changed before someone gets killed if they have not yet!*nlm

Vehicle only had 4500 miles on on the odometer when i detected a fuel leak. The fuel was dripping out of the gas tank where the filler pipe connected to the tank. I was on vacation and had just driven the vehicle about 2000 miles from ohio to florida an explosion could have occured if the vehicle would have encountered any sparks or a cigarette was discarded. The vehicle was taken to a dealership in homestead, florida where it remained overnight. The dealership stated that this vehicle was the third vehicle they encountered leaking fuel that week. I contacted the manufacturer however no recall has been issued. This is a very dangerous situation that can cause fatalities or serious injury. I would like ford to reimburse me for the rental car that i obtained and take this vehicle back because i do not feel that it is safe. I work at an auto manufacturer and i do not feel like ford wants to stand behind the safety of their product.

According to ford, it's a common problem, but...it causes a gasoline leak if i try to fill it over about 3/8 tank, and throws gas out, when i make a left turn.this is a fire/explosion waiting to happen. In december went to start car and had to get jumped.car ran fine for about a month and it did it again.and the intervals between jumps got closer, then we thought it was the battery so we got a new battery and had the alternator tested and it came back oay.. Radio quit working as did the cigarette lighter the same day and then about a week later the theft light came on and stayed on for about 10 minutes and then went off.then last week the dash lights quit working and replaced fuse, but still no lights and air bag light came on and stayed on.we put in new radio 2 weeks ago.we put it in shop last week to have checked and they tell me that it's the radio that has been causing problems.well how could radio you just installed cause probs back in december? they have my grandmother believing them.cost her $269.they reprogramed the computer and put in 4 fuses, but did not fix the so called radio problem, and told her that lucky the radio didnt make the car explode and catch fire??said that the hot and ground were crossed but we had them tested and they werent. They also said that the radio was pulling 3 times the power that it should. I think that they didnt want to honor the warranty, and were finding somethng to blame it on. Because if it were the radio, why didnt they fix that instead of reprogramming the computer and replacing fuses??

My daughter was driving west on i-64 near evansville, in when the top half of the hood separated from the bottom and flew off of the car. Body shop and ins. After 3 weeks i went up there again and i was told that there is no part coming in from oklahoma, that one's on back-order too ! i am getting the run around for a car that doesn't even get me around !!!!!! this is ridiculous ! please someone help me ! i don't know what to do now and i'm always late for school and appointments because i can't get my car out of park !!!! my thumb is so sore and swollen and calloused from trying to get it out of park !

Remote door does not work all of the time. Dealer replaced latch but did not correct the problem. Customer placed a small round magnet on the quarter panel on each side where the lid contacts the quarter panel temporarily correcting the problem. Customer would like the dealer to properly correct the problem. Car idles rough when accessorories are turned on. Transmission shifts harshly under various conditions. Transmission does not immediatelt engage in gear when going from park to drive. This seems to happen when car sits for an extended period of time but does not always occur. Customer has noticed at times an unusal large loss of transmission fluid but does not see a leak or smell. Right front door speaker cuts in and out.

We took car in to local ford dealer for routine oil change and to check a noise we had heard in the rear end. They tore into the rear end to see what problem was. We were told that the whole rear end needed to be replaced. They gave us an estimate of $1600. We questioned how this could happen. We were told it doesn't usually happen at this mileage. They also told us that there was no preload on the axel. We complained to ford headquarters to no avail. The car was no longer under warranty. This was not a good answer. This is a premium car that has been well cared for and always driven by adults, and only serviced at the dealership where it was purchased. We were given no explaination as to why there was no preload, other than the car might have been assembled on monday rather than tuesday.dt

The seat belts in the front do not operate properly because they hang down and do not retract, making it dangerous if the vehicle were to be involved in an accident. Both seat belt retractors have begun to fail to operate. It takes an extreme amount of coaxing to cause the sealt belts to retract, if at all. The passenger side retractor is the worse of the two and is used far, far less. This leads me to beleive it is not a simple wear and tear from use issue.

The rear seat belt retractors do not work properly. When the seat belt is pulled out the belts do not retract.

On may 5, 2016, i was driving on hwy 395 (nevada). Driving at approximately 40 mph due to rain/hail. I felt my car begin to hydroplane, and then began to spin out of control across the hwy. At least 5 complete circles until i slammed into a concrete wall where the car came to a stop. My airbags did not deploy. The drivers seat bolts broke upon impact as well. No other cars were involved, but i suffered multiple bruises on my rt. Arm, as well as severe whiplash and internal bruising from seat breaking free upon impact. My back/spine are in serious pain due to being knocked out of alignment when the seat broke, and airbags did not deploy. I did not file a claim with my insurance company, as i only have liability insurance, however i do have an accident case number from the nevada highway patrol: # 160500374 date: 05/05/2016 time: 9:56 am

Consumer was traveling about 65mph onhighway andheard a noise like a poppy sound. Bolt that attached seat broke, and the seat popped up, cause driver to lose control.but she was able to apply brakes. Tookvehicle to the dealership, and mechanic told her that she would have to pay for it herself.

I was struck from the rear on the left corner while in the center lane of i-435 right before an exit.. Diferential speed of approx.25 mph. The seat slid back on the tracks and the seat back failed leaving me looking at the ceiling. My feet no longer reached the pedals and my hands barely reached the steering wheel. The car went across 2 lanes of trafic into a ditch and partially up an embankment. Had the seat not failed i would have been able to control the car and stayed on the road. The damage estimate showed $3000 of the total $5000 to be in the front end !i was almost hit by an 18 wheeler or similar sized truck as i was crossing the two lanes of traffic toward the ditch. As this was a divided interstate i could have been thrown the other way across the median into oncomming traffic.(luckily we have a cable barier system in place.) the point is, loss of control over a rear end collision because the drivers seat fails is not acceptable.

I was braking at a red light behind a toyota prius. When i had almost completely stopped, my car lurched forward, with my foot still on the brake. I lifted my foot from the brake for an instant, then slammed the brake pedal down, stopping my car just a couple inches from slamming into the car in front of me.

When driving 30mph and upon depressing brake pedal to make a normal stopsteering wheel locked up, causing extended stopping distance, resulting in an accident.many mechanics stated to the consumer that the weight shifts from the back to the front when the brakes are applied, causing the anti-brake system to become confused and lock up the steering wheel.the consumer would then have to pump the brakes quickly to disengage the locked steering wheel, the vehicle has been labeled as a lemon by the national transportation safety board and ford credit service center and representatives.

Consumer was driving at 20-25 mph and suddenlyvehicle lost all power. Engine just shut down, leaving consumer with no control of the steering/ abssystem. Went to stop by applying the brakes and crashed over some bumps in the street. Dealer has been contacted.

I apply brakes, one front brake locks and steering pulls very hard to the left or right, so hard that it will almost pull the steering wheel out of your hand.the steering also locks and i can not steer the automobile.i have to release the brakes to regain control of the steering and release the locked brake.

The stalling problem is a major safety hazard. The car stalls when the brake pedal is depressed (in neutral gear). The power steering and power brakes also lose power, causing me to do whatever not to crash. I know of other mustangs noticing the same problem. My car was serviced at the dealer for this specific problem, but failed to fix it.

Thank god the party involved and myself came out of this ordeal with just minor bruising. I am a twenty-one year old well-educated woman with a responsible job profile, and a clean record. I have never violated the law, therefore all that has happened is hard to take.from the start, i requested my insurance to take the claim more seriously, and for an intense investigation to take place on the vehicle, since this was a bizarre accident with no known cause, and even with the chp forming an opinion on assumptions, i was not at fault for this accident, and was not charged with careless driving, or any other traffic infraction. Since what i requested did not occur, i am dissatisfied with the way this was conducted. Basically for the month and a half that my insurance had the vehicle stored, they never conducted any type of investigation nor was my vehicle inspected. I even went to the degree of having my vehicle towed to my residence at my own expense, so i may hire a certified technician to inspect the vehicle. However, that never took place due to bad timing. The vehicle was sitting on my property for about a week or so, and before i could get a hold of someone to do the inspection and to take the vehicle apart, i had to get ready for surgery, so the inspection was put on hold due to health reasons. The local police department wanted me to move the vehicle as soon as possible, so i had no other choice then to call my insurance and have them take the "total loss" vehicle.i also found out that most of the repairs and restorations were done by my insurance, and that is why i believe they did not want to do a thorough investigation.

There has been a significant loss in steering stability. Everything from the power steering pump to the rack and pinion show no signs of leaking. I've had the ps lines replaced as well as the ps pump, because if the lack of stability and the problem still persists. Ps fluid has been replaced and bled.and the pump is still very loud (it was always loud, the new pump is the same way. But that's more annoying than a safely concern). I'll be driving down the street and on the highway and the car will suddenly veer to the left or right. Car has new tires and has been aligned recently.

In dry driving condition the driver's steering wheel pulled left and then quickly to the right. The driver compensated to the left and then tried to turn the wheel back to the right to straighten the vehicle out, but the steering wheel would not turn and went off the road and collided with a stand of trees in the median. Sometimes when starting vehicle the anti-theft device does not connect to the starter, causing the vehicle not to start. Dealer has not seen vehicle.

The car is is a little over two years old and i feel that a car should not be prohibated from starting if the anti theftsystem failes and the manufacturer should be responsible for thier defects when a part prematurely failes.

The stalling problem is a major safety hazard. The car stalls when the brake pedal is depressed (in neutral gear). The power steering and power brakes also lose power, causing me to do whatever not to crash. I know of other mustangs noticing the same problem. My car was serviced at the dealer for this specific problem, but failed to fix it.

Unable to turn steering wheel in a brake and steer situation. Steering works as expected, until pressure is applied at the same time steeringis needed in a panic evasive stop. I was involved in a very bizarre accident. On august 10, 2004 at 8:30 am, i was goingto work using the highway i regularly use everyday, highway one in pacifica, california, located four blocks from my home. Weather conditions were normal. As i was getting onto the highway entrance, going no more than twenty miles per hour, and as i made my way down the ramp a few inches, my car started swaying back and forth. Pulling me right, and then to the left. I was not distracted, preoccupied, nor on a cell phone. I was looking at the road straight ahead. I tried to stear the car, but it kept shifting from side to side, causing me to fall off the ramp and land onto the traffic going the same direction i was headed (north). One car ended up hitting me. The police was already on the highway so they immediately came to the scene. Since this was such a frightening accident, and no known cause for it, since i was not under the influence and going at such a low speed, i have requested the accident scene and the car to be inspected. There might be something wrong mechanically.i believe this accident was caused due to malfunction of the vehicle.i could have possibly been the rack & pinion assembly, tie rod, or power steering valves.throughout the course work, i found out that my vehicle was in pervious accidents. This information was never disclosed to me at the date of the purchase, and i requested it from the dealership numerous times. All my requests for the vehicles history and owner history were placed to the side. No matter how much i adored the vehicle, i would have not purchased it knowing this information. The consumer was making a left hand turnand the car went out of control and hit a curb, the right side of the tire was inflated before it hit the curb.also accident cost 2700.00 in damages.

My vehicle has loss of steering control. Found recall for this issue on line, however, my vin number does not correspond. I called nhtsa and they suggested i file a complaint. My vehicle has no external leaks or worn or torn suspension parts, it must have internal damage to steering gear. Ford does not show a recall. I will be repairing my vehicle in the meantime, ones vehicle is very necessary to get by our day to day business, however, i need this issue resolved.

Rear sway bar is hollow and the ends are pressed, that's where it snapped. Suppossedly this is a common problem so i wanted to report it in hopes that ford will someday recall it. They already have produced a new piece that isn't hollow and supposedly much stronger, so they must know there is a problem.

My rt. Front tire blew while i was traveling.even though i was going slow, there was enough force to take out a peice of my wheel cover & dent the front door.i had to replace it at t little tire store in the town it happened in.i replaced all the tires at the same time because the shop worker showed me a place on the left front tire that looked like it was separating too.at the time, i thought that a big-brand name like firestone shouldn't do that, so i replace it with another brand.i realized that if it had happened on the open highway at a high speed, i could have lost control of the car & i felt lucky.but it was costly & i still have the dent & peice if fender in my floorboard.i do not have the tires so i do not know any particulars about them, but the dealer should.i probably can get the tow service to attest to the fact that it did blow, he put on one of those little temporary tires & suggested a few shops i could try to get a tire at. The speedometer in 1998 mustang stopped working intermittently. It will sometimes gauge speed incorrectly, and tell i am going about 85 mph when i am doing anywhere from 15-30 mph. Then it will all of a sudden stay on 0 mph. Sometimes turning the car off and restarting it resets it, other times it does not. I would say that the speedometer doesn't work accurately about 50% of the time. There was nothing that lead up to this happening, it just started one day. There is no way to tell if it is going to work when i turn it on or not. Sometimes it will get stuck on 0 mph for days, and the only time it will reset itself is when i get on a highway and do about 65 mph. So far, nothing has been done to correct the problem.

The contact stated that while driving 45 mph and without warning, the engine started to rev and the rpms increased drastically as the vehicle abnormally accelerated. The contact had to apply extreme pressure to the brake pedal in order to stop the vehicle and turned off the engine. While doing so, the contact had to drive wedging the tire against the curb in order for the vehicle to lose speed. The vehicle was then towed to an authorized dealer where they diagnosed that the cruise control cable was frayed and coming apart. The vehicle was repaired with a new cable. I was braking at a red light behind a toyota prius. When i had almost completely stopped, my car lurched forward, with my foot still on the brake. I lifted my foot from the brake for an instant, then slammed the brake pedal down, stopping my car just a couple inches from slamming into the car in front of me.

Since i purchased my car, if it is hot and humid, raining or above freezing, when you turn on the a/c , heater or vent a musty mildew smell comes out of the vents.i have had the car back three times and they still haven't fixed it.it goes back on 5/24, if they don't fix it what are my chances of getting it replaced or bought back since the smell makes me ill.

While driving on the highway at 55mph, the left quarter window exploded sending glass fragments into the back and front seats of the car. Temporarily lost control of the vehicle due to window exploding. Was able to regain control of vehicle, pulled off the highway and notified police and obtained report. Notified insurance company and brought car back to glass shop who replaced the window the first time. Glass shop found a manufacturing flaw during assembly where screws were loose and binding against the glass when window was in the up position. Glass shop tightened loose screws, replaced window and gave no garantee this would fix the problem. Notified ford of problem but they do not want to take any action. Notified dealer, they told me to call ford. Catch 22, no one wants to take responsibility. This car is a safety hazard. Glass shop who found the problem is diamond auto glass 145 patterson ave, wallington nj 07057 (1-800-235-7487). My next step is to file a complaint against ford motor company with the bbb. Since the car is leased, iam notifying the bank to see if i can get out of the lease due to the safety hazard of this vehicle.

I went to the passenger's side of the car to place my briefcase, and my gym bag inside. I then put the passenger seat up, i placed my briefcase on the seat, and i shut thepassenger side door.as i shut the door, i heard a loud sound of what i thought was icecracking off the car.i went over to the drivers side and found the window completely shattered and blown out of the car.at least 80% of the glass from the window was on the outside of the car, on the ground.. I was shocked to see the window shattered in such a way because i assumed all of the windows in my car had safety glass.this evently disturbed me because if there had been a child or a passenger in that back seat when i had closed that door, they would have been injured. When i first leased my mustang in july of 1998, i had problems putting that window up after having my convertible top down.it would take me 2 or 3 tries of pressing the electric switch up and down until that window finally squealed its way all the way up the track. I now believe that the back driver's side window was not put into the track properly, causing severe pressure on the glass.thecombination of extreme cold weather and pressure finally caused the glass to shatter with the vibrations of closing the door.this caused the window to blow outwards, and all over the ground.due to this defect, i feel the expense to repair this window should be the responsibility of the ford motor company.
