While driving my car at a speed of 35 mph or faster, my right front starts to pull to the right, it has caused me to have a crash, never received the recall letter. I was not contacted by any dealer for the other recalls, # 95v138000 and #95e006002. How do i go about getting my car checked out without being charged.please send me information. Thank you,

During vehicle collision no deployment of air bag resulting in severe facial injuries to consumer.

Air bag module inoperative. *sd

Clock spring had failed, causing the horn to be inoperative. Dealer notified.

After driving my car and parking it the airbags deployed with no warning. The vehicle was not involved in any accident nor was the vehicle hit. I have tried to get helpfrom ford to repair the defect and the damage to my interior due to the deployment of both airbags and have received the "run around" from them and still no repairs from ford. They seem too busy to help or to stand up for their product, let alone a safety feature on the car that was clearly defective.

Air bag deployment was violent, causing injury, prior to recall. (95e006002) *tw

Monday august 12 2002 i took my mustang to riverside ford because of a failed heater core valve. When i got to the service dept. I noticed the airbag light had come on. Asked them to fix airbag light and to let me know if it was indeed the heater core valve that had busted.that afternoon i was informed that it was the valve.i told them to repair airbag light only. Picked up car next day, paid the bill and got in car.airbag light was still on.iquestioned service writter and he told me they could not find a code when they hooked up the computer so they replaced a fuse.had a few more words with him and he said they did not know what was wrong. Told him it was not fixed but yet i had to pay bill. I did not have time to argue told him iwould return.two weeks later i returned with 2 blown airbags.my wife was driving home from work on august 26. She stopped at a redlight and drivers side airbag exploded, pulled in a parking lot and got out of car when passenger side airbag exploded.she called me crying and scared to death over what had just happened. No wreck, no collision with any object airbgs exploded for no reason.any way dealership wanted me to pay for 2hours of labor so they could determine what caused this to happen. Told them they were crazy if they thought i was going to pay.since they day ihave been waiting for some engineers from ford to come down and have a look and decide what to do.well they did today and said they were denying claim due to age and miles on vehicle.i have asked for nothing other than my vehicle to be fixed but it seems it is going no where.oh by the way when i asked what caused this to happen i get the same response, wedo not know.

The contact owns a 1995 ford mustang.while the vehicle was at a complete stop, the contact noticed smoke coming from the glove compartment area.he investigated under the hood and did not see any smoke in the engine compartment.when he started the ignition, he heard a very loud boom sound, and noticed that the passenger side air bag deployed.the passenger compartment became filled with gas and chemicals from the air bag.there were no warning indicators illuminated. The failure and current mileages were less than 174,000. Updated 0424/09. *ljthe consumer stated the turn signal, rear defroster, ac vent on the passenger side, cruise control, ignition switch and steering were inoperative. Updated 04/29/09.

Traveling at 30 mph hit car that went through a red light. Both air bags deployed. The passenger air bag broke two fingers (pinky and ring), (the pinky finger is broken in multiple places) wrist, broken lip, burn to the face of passenger, abrasion to arm and chest. The driver airbag aside from inflating/exploding, broke inundating the car with blue smog that almost chocked me. Aside from that nothing happened to me. *nlm

On feb. 17, 2004 i was struck from behind by a kia sportage that was traveling at approximately 55 mph. I was stopped behind a mitsubishi eclipse at the time. When i was struck it thrust my vehicle into the rear of the eclipse. My airbags in my vehicle never deployed. I am positive that the force of the collision was sufficient enough to cause mine to deploy. My 2 children, as well as myself received whiplash and shoulder/neck injuries. I feel that we were very fortunate to come out of this unfortunate accident alive. I would like to find out exactly why they did not deploy. Who can we contact about retrieving the information from the black box? we have already been advised to secure the vehicle until it can be investigated. We will also photograph the other 2 vehicles involved, as this may make it easier to investigate. We have been informed that all 3 vehicles have been totaled.

The vehicle was hit at about 40mph on the left front end, and neither driver's side nor passenger 's side airbags deployed. Dealer has not seen vehicle.

Driver air bag did not deploy during a totalled accident.

Driver's side did not fully inflate in a head on collision at 45-50 mph.tt

Never received the recalls for:campaign# 01v318000 air bags: frontal:driver side inflator module, mine is not sealed.campaign#95v134000 had accident replaced tie rodcapaign#01i011000i replaced cooling fan.

Once horn is blown, entire electrical system fails shorting out the vehicle. Vehicle then stalls out immediately. Please describe details.

Speedometer, cruise control and odometer were inoperative, dealer replaced a sensor.

Possible electrical problems may be causing headlights, dash lights and tail lights to blink on and off.nlm

I'm also having electrical problems, get shocked every time you touch the car. The windshield wipers work when they want to and the turn signals work only when they want to as well. Along with the head gasket blowing this car has been nothing but trouble for me. Also the trunk leaks andsmells musty and the rear window will not defog when it is raiining. I'm very disappointed in ford.

Headlights/battery failed due to electrical problems.

Son was driving, smelled something burning then saw smoke from under hood; pulled to side, turned engine off, got out of vehicle; vehicle burst into flames; fire dept put it out & said maybe it was battery cable area due to an electrical short.

Due todefective tfi module while drivingvehicle stalls unexpectedly which may cause a crash.please provide further information.

Vehicle stalling on roadway, ford unable to find the problem, restarts after cooling

Car stalled in commute traffic.all dashboard warning lights come on, engine shuts down.unable to start .prior incidients include engine stalling and restarting without turning ignition key.dealership had car for 4 days, could not find problem.

Car stalled going 70 in commute traffic.dashboard lights lit up and engine shut down.had to pull off onto emergency parking area, wait 5 minutes and restarted car.car stalled two more times, same pattern, light, engine dead.had to wait to restart engine.ford tech suspects air scoop sensor problem sending inaccurate infomation to fuel injector system, insufficient fuel, causing stall.

This car was a ?!@#$% lemon i had nothing but problems with it buy a chevy because you might have a batterlonger lasting vehicle head gasket blew grinding rear suspension the ac sucked i took it to get fixed every year it would blow out hot air i had an electrical fire under the front dash burnt up alot of wiring, bought fog lights that had to be replaced every year, transmission blew out (reverse) also i was driving and all of a sudden the front seat broke and i almost went out the side window very freaking dangerous car if you ask me i will never buy a ford ever i will tell everyone to buy something else like a chevy or some other american product i only say that because i am a union guy but to tell the truth those '!@#$%make better cars than fords ford mustangs suck they are a cheezy excuse for a so called sports car.

I had a problem with my 1995 ford mustang 5.0 stalling. After taking it in 4 times over the course of a month starting 6-8-00 and finally on 7-22-00 the ford dealership replaced the "stator" part#e9tz 12a112 a at a cost of $312.09. This was after paying $476.68 for a new mass airflow sensor, cleaning of the injectors, replacing the air filter, and fuel filter the first time around which did nothing to fix the problem. Sounds to me like the 1995 mustangs should also be included in this recall, especially since the 1994 mustangs are in it. I have all my receipts please let me know how i should proceed.

Engine losses power at any speed, sometimes it regains by it self sometime it just dies, when it dies some tomes it starts right away, sometime we have to wait between 5 to 15mins rare 30 mins. Took it to the dealer, it took them a while to say something, finaly they said it's the fuel pump. I paid $450.00 to replace it, took it home. The following day it lost power again, took it back to the dealer, they have my car for 5 days but could not tell me whats wrong with it. They told me they have drove to freeways to side street & kept the engine running for 4 hrs & nothing. Took it home again, on my way home the engine died, head back to the dealer took the mechanic for a ride for 45 mins & nothing, they think i'm crazy. Drove it everyday to & from work only with lots of prayers. 08/24/01 going home, started the car, it started, going into the street the engine died & could not restated, called a tow truck to tow it the dealer. I not sure what they will tell me this time. I love my car & giving it up is not a option. Please help.

Since about 95,000 miles the engine stalls without warning at speeds from 20-70mph.

Spark plugs replaced. *sd

On several occasions consumer has problems with inserting key into ignition switch, at times the key is hard to get out and the ignition switch will not line up to insert key, consumer states that on one occasion, the vehicle started by itself.

Inner portion of keyswich rotates independantly of outer plastic/metal portion. This makes it difficult to insert key, and very difficult to start vehicle. And in many cases, car starts, but all 12volt accessories (al that use the ign. On 12v+ wiring) will fail to work (ie:radio, ac blower, interior lighting, gauges). Also spoke to 10-12 other 1995 mustang (base and gt owners) owners, and they all had the exact same problem. This could cause an electricalshort, and possibly in extreme cases cause a fire near the airbag assy.ford changed the ignition key system in 1996.

Ignition switch will not accept key. The lock cylinder is bad..and this is common with 5 other mustang owners i personally know of. (94-95 years affected).

Ignition switch outer ring rotates without key insertion.will let door chime continuously ring and makes key insertion difficult.

Vehicle can be started without key in ignition switch. Vehicle previously would not start at all. Took to mechanic, who started vehicle without key in switch.

My 1995 mustang's ignition switch is defective.oftentimes it is very difficult to insert or remove my key, and the black switch guard around the key has about 1/2" of free play.i have talked to several other mustang owners who have noticed the same problem on their '95s.once my key wouldn't go in at all.

Check engine light stayed on. Camshaft sensor tested, road tested, computer retested. Have hard copy of computer related problem. Cam position sensor code. Traced wiring harness. Found cid wire bare and grounded. Was repaired traced wave form of sensor no good. Also noticed coolant leak. Pressure tested system. Leak is at timing cover at engine block right side. Told head gasket would have to be replaced, cost $500-700. Car not under warranty. Speculation by mechanic and dealer service resources suggested that age and low mileage should be able to get some relief from manufacturer. Have reviewed complaint database and viewed 6 complaints of gasket problems during 1998 for 95 ford mustangs.

Due to loose wiring the vehicle experienced electrical problems, such asexterior and interiors lightsgoing on and off unexpectedly which may cause an accident.currently at the dealer.cause unknown.please provide details.

While drivingat 55mph with a/c on pulled off freeway and temperature gauge was running a little bit hotter than normal.noticed thatvehicle overheated.when consumer returnedsaw smoke coming from under the hood, vehicle caught on fire.contact dealer and manufacturer.

On december 14th,my '95 mustang caught fire while sitting in a parking lot. On december 20th the damage was assessed by eric krossen from summitt claim service(used by my insurance company)to be a total loss.from dec 20-jan 3,2001,we were negotiating with anpac for a fair settlement but couldn't come to an agreement.near the end they were not returning our calls. On january 3,2001 we received a safety recall #01s30 post-marked december 31,2001 from ford motor company.this recall was for the engine cooling fan on 95 taurus, sable and mustang vehicles. It stated that under certain high temperature conditions, components inside the cooling fan motor may ignite potentially resulting in an underhood fire. Copies of the recall were given to our insurance agent and to hutcheson ford in st james,mo. On jan.16,2001 ford motor company called to say we must proceed through our insurance company. As of today, january 21,2001 ford motor company hasn't looked at the car and our insurance company has not settled. I believe ford motor company has a responsiblity to look at this car. My mustang was in excellent shape, only the head gasket was replaced by a prior recall.

Consumer got out of carand smelled smoke. Then, she openedhood and saw fire. Consumer was not injured.

Parked car, burst into flames few minutes later.car is totaled.

A fuse has blown 3 times in 3 days.it is the fuse that controls the speedomoter, odometer, interior lights, power locks, radio, clock.when the fuse was replaced the third time it blew in my face, and when i turned around there was a big cloud of smoke and there was a distinct strong smell of something burning.i have had many electrical problems with the car since i have had it (4 years).on many occasions the dash light has lit up during the day all by itself.when the door is opened and the keys are out of the ignition and the lights are not on it continues to ding.when you turn the volume up or down many times it will begin to scan channells by itself.once when the blinker was turned on the windshield wipers came on instead and they would not turn off.

Nhtsa# 01 v 390 000/manufacturer's recall 01s30 concerning engine cooling fan bearing.consumer informed dealer delta ford, vicksburg,ms; phone# 601/636-5323 of a problem withcooling fan not working properly.dealer stated that they only replacedcircuit breaker. Asking nhtsa to assist in this matter. Feel free to provide any further information.

When put in reverse it blows the fuse to back up lights, air bag module. Etc.

Rear tail lights are inoperable.when depressingbrakes andattemtping to stop, rear tail lights do not illuminate, there is no warning/ no indication thatvehicle is being stopped or slowed down.consumer has contacteddealer, dealr has replaced 4-5 tail light switches, problem has reoccurred.please provide any further details.

Consumer was traveling about 25mph on a side street and smelled smoke. She was able to pull over to the side.there was smoke coming from underneath the hood of vehicle.consumer states the engine cooling fan failed, dealer replaced engine fan and wires and now when driving the vehicle shakes, skips and stalls, the check engine light has illuminated.

The contact owns a 1995 ford mustang. The contact stated that while driving 40 mph, the vehicle overheated without warning. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnosis but they were unable to duplicate the problem. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was not notified. The vin was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 277,000.

Front end suspension shimmies when driving.would have lots of play in steering wheel. The temperature guage would run high. The cd player would come on or stop. Would make grinding noise. The door locks on the driver side will not work properly due to power locks not working.the electrical system is not working properly.

The engine over heated.

While traveling on highway, the engine overheated and heat not working.no engine light came on.was able to make it back home when the car stopped running.took it to local mechanic who replaced thermostat, changed coolant and oil.next day car still overheated and no heat.took it to ford dealership, who did same as mechanic with same result.they checked the water pump, noticed white substance in radiator.they recommended and replaced radiator.i was told head gasket is ok at this time.they released the car to me.i drove the car for a week, and temperature gauge fluctuated and heat very sporadic.took it back to dealership, and they state i need new head gaskets.they will not refund money for radiator replacement.i contacted ford motor, and they stated they will not refund money for radiator or pay for head gaskets.

The gauge for the coolant temperature was rising all the way to the red section of the gauge labeled hot.ford looked at the car and determined that it had a blown head gasket thus resulting in a major expense. I took my car in to be checked at the time of the recall dated may 2000-november 2000. They said it was fine.ford, knowing that these head gaskets are failing prematurely, refused to give any consideration on the cost of the repair.i find this to be very unprofessional for the company and, unfortunately, very costly for the other hundreds of people who have had to deal with this very same thing!!

Temperature gauge read hot, replaced upper lower radiator hose, thermostat, temperature sending unit, new water pump, and antifreeze, new serpentine belt, still overheats, steam pouring out of exhaust, apparently bad head gaskets!!!is there or will there be a recall or recourse i can take with ford ? my car has received top of the line care since it rolled off the lot!

Head gaskets failed. I would start my car in the morning and notice the temperature gauge go up rapidly. The temperature gauge never went past normal and into the red, but it was much warmer than usual. During this time, no heat would blow. Then the temp would drop and warm air would blow. We changed the thermostat, temperature sensor, and had the radiator flushed(which did solve the problem for nearly a month). Nothing left but the head gaskets and maybe even a cracked head.

While drivingat 55mph with a/c on pulled off freeway and temperature gauge was running a little bit hotter than normal.noticed thatvehicle overheated.when consumer returnedsaw smoke coming from under the hood, vehicle caught on fire.contact dealer and manufacturer.

The temperature gauge would sporadically come on and go into the "red".i would shut off the engine to allow it to cool and check the water in the radiator.i only had to add approximately 1/2 gallon of water on one occasion.i took my mustang to david maus toyota, believing his company to be reputable and since the mustang was out of warranty.they replaced the water pump and the timing chain seal and charged me $700.00.three weeks later, the same problem occurred after driving only a short distance.i took the mustang back to david maus and was told it needed a new engine.i then took it to a mechanic who told me he would rebuild the engine, for which i paid him $1800.00.he did not fix the engine and the problem remained.i sueddavid maus for inept repairs but was unable to prove my case "sufficiently", possibly because the second mechanic assisted david maus in court instead of testifying for me after i threatened to sue him, also.he has since gone out of business. I have had another inspection by mullinax ford in apopka, fl, who also stated the mustang needed a new engine after david maus' mechanics "repaired" it. I had my regular mechanic, mir's auto works, do a thorough inspection and they determined that the cooling fan was not working and that it appears the head gaskets are blown and that a new engine will be necessary.since october, 2005, the vehicle has been parked, with no license or insurance.i believe had i gotten the recall information, as i did with the parking brake recall, i could very easily have avoided all the frustration and expense i have experienced with my vehicle.i have not received any other recall information, either, regarding the headlights, yellow exterior lights, or hood separation.

1995 ford mustang 3.8l has a faulty head gasket.this problem has been acknowledged on other ford vehicles but has not been addressed in the mustang.

A year ago, temperature gauge in car started to show that car engine was getting hot.had car looked at, and no problem could be found. Was cautious still, and kept my eye on gauge to make sure car never overheated. On way to work one day,the temperature gauge showd engine was overheating.pulled over to find coolant leaking. Had a friend look at it and found the coolant reservoir to be cracked, and coolant on a hose, so had those 2 items replaced. Car ran okay for awhile til i noticed a bit of white smoke coming out of exhaust pipe.(later told i was burning coolant-hence the white smoke). Had mechanic replace thermostat, radiator cap.etc. And again-had no problems for awhile until car one night car would not start. Had friend try it and car started for him. Proceeded home only to see a lot of white smoke coming out the back and again, car started to overheat. Pulled over, and found-again,coolant leaking. Had it towed to my mechanics home. He looked at car and deduced that i would need a valve job if he didnt find the head to be cracked. Had valve job done, new head gasket installed along with a new oxygen sensor-coolant burning out of tail pipe fried the sensor. Didnt have car for 3 wks, and had to pay $1700. For these repairs. & its not due to leaks of hoses. So am told that i may be burning the coolant which may cause some serious damage to the engine.(no externalobvious leaks detected)found that there was a recall that affected my year, make & model of car, but this warranty has since expired.(was a 7yr/100,000 mi waranty) it expired in 2002 even though the problem occured 26,000 under the extended warranty ford gave.supposedly, a letter was to be sent to those with my engine type(3.8l v-6) in may of '02. I never received such letter. A local dealer has informed me that there is nothing they can(or will) do to help atthis point due to the warranty expiration. Also, to poor salt in the proverbial wound, i work for ford motor co., the manufacturer of the car...

Repeated blown head gasket. Wrong engine installed, 4th time - resulting in transmition trouble. Current engine lasted 16 months. Head gasket gone, again. Ford dealer, and ford motor company refuse to offer any assistance with repairs. Cost of repairs now more than current market value of vehicle.

While car seems to be running normally temperature gauge goes up, and ifrevving, engine will go back down.

The temperature gauge began to fluctuate between normal and hot.one second, you look at the gauge, it is normal, one second later it is hot.when you start the car cold, the antifreeze does not circulate, it goes into the reservoir bottle, and then comes out onto the ground.i have changed the water pump, the radiator cap, and the thermostat three times.it does have a driverside airbag, but it has never deployed.( dot number: tire size: p3515 )

Head gaskets blew after engine overheating with no warning from temp. Gauge.dealership wanted to fix head gasket problem and faild to notice ring damage which lead to low compression after assembly of engine.dealershiptook no responsibility for failure to notice ring damage.

Head gasket on 1995 ford mustang coupe has only 34000 never drive the car realized the problem after warranty expired. Metal on seat bracket snapped where seat was bolted to floor. When turning seat lifted up off floor. Ford said was not a safety issue.36947 miles as of 13 june2003 2519.31 plus tax for head gasket, not fixed. Had extended warranty but i called a couple months after it had expired. Ford says i don't qualify for any goodwill assistance because of age and mileage beyond guidelines?? almost 37000 miles on a 8 year old car. The seat bracket i got replaced for 175.00 and my uncle fixed for free. It broke right after the 3 years was up.

Vehicle continues to overheat. Temperature gauage indicates thatvehicle is overheating ,and then smoke came fromexhaust pipe.dealer cannot identifycause.please give any further details.

The heater in my 1995 ford mustangwould not produce warm air and then the "check engine" light came on.the car was looked at by a mechanic who replaced the thermostat.however, heat was still not produced and the odor of antifreeze became apparent.my mechanic at ocean stree auto repair in south portalnd, me, called yankee ford dealer in south portland, me and was told the head gasket on this 3.8l v6 engine was defective and recalled.i was informed by my mechanice at ocean st auto as well as the service manager at yankee ford this part would be replaced at no cost to me under extended warranty. Within a half hour i received a call from the service manager at yankee ford informing me the recall only applied to the taurus and windstar.although he said it was the same engine and could not see why the recall would not apply to the mustang, he could not fix it under the ford issued recall.i called ford motor company customer service on march 2 and spoke with "selvin" who told me ford was well aware of this defective part and they he "expected" this to be recalled on the mustang and thunderbird at some time, but for now it was ford's policy not to recall the head gasket on this model at this time.selvin informed me i had no recourse of action and there was no one else at ford motor company i could appeal to.i pressed selvin to give me the name of manager i could talk with and he refused, again stating this it was "ford's position not fix this part as part of the recall even though they knew it was defective.aside from the car issue, i am a single parent with only that car for transportation.i am now forced to rent a car for an undetermined amount of time while waiting for my ford mustang to be fixed.

While driving 35-40 mph and without warning, vehicle caught on fire. Coolant fan and engine overheated, resulting in an underhood fire. *yd

Driving at 25mph the engine started smoking and the temp indicator light came on.pulled directly into service and was told that the head gasket had blown.personally visited my dealer(100 miles from breakdown) and they thought it was covered( because of a recall on 3.8 engines from ford. He had a brand new claim on a mustang on his desk and said they were having so many problems that the parts would not be available for 3-4 weeks.i called another ford dealership where it was brokedown and they said the repair was not covered on mustangs yet she said they may eventually be included because of the numerous problems with the mustangs also.she assured me that i would be reimbursed if a recall was to happen. The car has a documented service record.i take good care of it.in my opinion the 3.8 engine itself is the problem.i know the determination was front wheel drive cars only but i feel because of most problems coming from them.they account for most cars manufactured today.rear wheel drive(mustang) was probably ruled out because of fewer reports of problems.i like fords.i have owned and driven many of them. This is a ford problem.

While traveling noticed temerature. Gauge running high. Dealer indicated that head gasket was blown. Please provide further information.

Engine was running rough and smoke was coming from exhaust after engine was turned off due to head gasket failure. Cooling fan motor failed. Consumer received notices frommanufacturer regarding additional warranty coverage under service program number 00m10, covered potential engine head gasket failures. .

Engine overheats intermittently with no external leaks of coolant.

Vehicle overheated, and temperature gauge went to high, this could causevisibility problemif steam came from exaust.

Getting ready to get on the expressway and temperature gaugeregistered hot, engine overheated. Consumer contacted dealer. Vehicle was declared a lemon in 96 but dealer would not provide a new vehicle. *ml

Vehicle began smoking very badly, the fan stopped working, vehicle began running hot and engine started to fail, dealer stated the problem was with the head cover gaskets, this part was replaced, however the problem still continues, problem possibly caused due to recall 01i011.

Temperature on vehicle gets extremely hot, but heater blows out cold air, consumer changed thermostat, but did not solve problem, contacted dealer and dealer stated vehicle was over 100000 miles, and can not do anything about it under recall.

Vehicle was overheating bytemperature gauge, took to ford, and they replacedmotor. After 20, 000 milesproblem reoccurred.

Driver seat motor quit never attempted to fix or contact ford.complied with the safety recall in june of 03, for a faulty engine cooling fan (bearings seize) circuit breaker installed, no problem at time.bearings seize in august of 03. For 1 month put off by dealer. Result, continuous heat caused head gasket to blow and ruin heads with coolant in the oil. Situation is out of direct guidelines of warranty and fordand dealership deny fault or even help of any kind. Still under way.....

Always overheating, drives rough, blown tires, broken rack & pinion, loud squeaking

Sounds like an ongoing problem

Engine was leaking oil. Dealership replacedengine gasket/water pump/oil pan gasket/ transmission oil pan gasket. Consumer tookvehicleto dealer, and mechanic told her that she needed a new engine. Dealership told her thatengine will be in eight to ten weeks.

After replacing the themostat, waterpump, coolant, and flushing the cooling system, due to overheating, i brought my car to the dealer. They replaced my thermostat again, and flushed the coolant system again, and charged me $120. The car still overheated. I returned to the dealer and was informed it ws a head gasket. Repairs cost an additional $1150. Ford has admitted a defect on this engine yet will not extend the warranty to mustangs. The dealer wouldn't even discount the final bill for his misdiagnosis the first time.

Sounds like an ongoing problem

Head gasket failure, timing cover gasket needs repair as well as 02 sensors due to engine leaking coolant, needs new water pump.ford says this could not have been prevented because "the head gaskets simply wear out over time." no satisfaction from ford national or local dealerships.repair costs estimated at approx $3,000 from local ford dealership.

Water leaked out and within 1/2 hour of driving on road, and without warning the engine stopped completely.entire engine was internally damaged. Dealer not aware of the problem.

Vehicle electric fan has seized on 95 ford mustang gt as described in safety recall ford 01s30.neither dealer nor ford co. Will support the recall, indicating database for my vehicle shows its not affected..my vehicle exhibits exactly the issue stated in recall.

While traveling on highway without prior warning vehicle started running hot therewas coolant leaking from underneath the vehicle.

Vehicle was repaired on 10/22/2002 for recall 01v390000concerning engine cooling fan bearing.after the repairs, vehicle overheated every day.dealer attempted to repair the vehicle, but failed to remedy the problem; cause of problem undetermined.

I have been having cooling problems since the beginning of feb,of 99, first the water pump went bad that i paid to be replaced, then for about 2 wks everything was fine until i realized my coolant gauge was running very hot and i lost my heat for about 3-4 miles then everything would go back to normal, then the same thing would happen again about 10-15 mins down the road, until finally my headgasket blew, now my car is at the ford dealer waiting to see whos going to pay for these damages. I know ford had a problem with the headgaskets in the 3.8l engines,i want mine to be covered for labor and parts on behalf of ford, iam not surprised at this, before this as happen my car was back to the dealer over 10 times for problems covered under warrenty,my car history will prove that.please help.thanks

I understand there has been a recall on this same engine in other ford products.why aren't they admitting this is a problem in the mustang as well.is it that the other vehicles are owned by older people who have time to raise hell about it.are they just hoping that there aren't enough complaints about the mustang so they don't have to pay out the money to have them fixed?i find this offensive.please go to war for us we need some relief in this regard.thanks for all you do to help common people fight with big business. Ford contacted.complaint placed in database never to be seen again.waiting for recall.....total repair cost was only $500 less than replacing the entire engine (labor incl)

Ford tells me that my vin is not on the list of vehicles they are covering under their extened warranty on a 3.8 engine in my 1995 ford mustang even though the 3.8 ford mustang is supposed to be covered, they will not cover my car as it has overheated about half a dozen times already in the three years i have had it.they will not even attempt to help me, they just tell me "we are not going to fix it, problem resolved" but the problem is not resolved, i still have a problem with my 1995 ford mustang and i want it resolved, because they are the ones that made the mistake in the way that engine and cooling system was made, and now they should fix it. No safety defec tmentioned.

I wonderwhy ford hasn't recalledthe mustang along with the other cars with this engine?

In january 2001, head gasket blew on the 1995 mustang.limped into ford dealer, who notified me of a silent recall and replaced head gasket under extended warranty.in march 2001, engine again started running hot, and had to replace intake gasket and water pump (not covered by warranty).in late dec 2003, engine once again running hot, and told that head gasket needs replacement again by dealer.independent mechanic states that if cylinders had been machined during first repair, 2nd head gasket failure would not have occurred.

Consumer states that while driving white smoke came from back off vehicle ,had towed they sad the coolant system and head gasket had blown.vehicle is part off recall, but due to the fact that vehicle is over 100,000 not included in recall.problem happen twice.mr

Consumer states coolant system caught on fire.dealer repaired/ replaced fan and vehicle overheated again and caused other problems.

Engine check light illuminated. Took vehicle to dealer, and dealer couldn't duplicate problem.vehicle overheated again.second timehead gaskets were bad.please provide any furthr information.

Overheating engine....replaced everything...now says blown headgasket??? i see tons of these!! need help!!!

Blown head gasket in my 1995 mustang. This mustang has the 3.8l 6 cylinder engine. This vehicle has been well maintained since purchase, and currently has less than 77600 miles on it. Gasket blew during normal driving operation. I contacted the ford motor company after doing some research on the internet and seeing that there was a recall on this particular vehicle for exactly this problem after hundreds of different complaints had been lodged. I was told that while there were 3 current recalls for this vehicle, that the recall for the head gasket had expired. This repair is going to cost me 1700.00 + while i do realize that the warranty was extended to a 7 year 100,000 mile and i am over the time frame(7 years) this vehicle is still well under the mileage that something like thiscould remotely happen.. So now i am being penalized for purchasing a product with poorly designed components. Ford has offered no recourse (except to let me pay for their error).. This is why i will absolutely never purchase any ford product again.. Additionally i will advise all of my aqquaintances of this situation and fords (non) response.

Manufacturer sent out a recall on engine head gasket. Engine head gaskets blewout after receiving notice. Blown head gasket due to faulty temperature gauge/water pump failure @ 53k miles!*mjs

9/17/99 had to have vehical towed off hwy. Because of fear of burning up engine. Water pump was replaced and radiator was sealed at a ost of $272.19. For the next 3/4 of a month i ran the vehicle without a thermostat on hot because we couldn't imagine the moter having problems with this few mileage on it. However, on 10/17/99 it again became very hot and i had to have it towed. I had the vin # searched and it did not register as a problemengine, go figure! i had several friends send me articles as to the fact that ford knew there was somthing wrong with these 6cylinder engine gaskets needing replaced, however the mustangs were not cited as problem head gaskets. The way i understood it was mostly the aerostars, contours, etc.isn't that conveinant? so i kept the head gasket to show you the problem, and i'll bet it will look just like the failed head gaskets on these othe recalled vehicals,ie.aerostars, sables, etc. As i have notthe extra means to afford this kind of cost, i would appreciate being reimbursed $929.99 spent on reparing my ford mustang. I have bought many fords and had way more miles on them and never had to replace a head gasket. I'll be anxious to hear from you. Thanks, candace

A plastic pulley needs to be replaced. Ford will only sell you the full pulley assembly ($340.00) the metal pulley on the new assembly fits on the old assembly. If the old pulley goes while driving the fan belt is destroyed. The pulley and belt has to be replaced and no repair shop will have the pulley because ford refuses to replace them.

Vehicle was within recall regarding coolant fan, after repairs vehicle was still overheating.

The engine cooling fan has failed to operate due to the possible siezing of the fan bearing. The fan harness as a result has melted and resulted in a very large drain on the vehicle battery leading to no electrical power and the vehicle stalling when the vehicle temperature rises above normal. A similar recall has been filed for ford vehicles with a ford recall of ford recall # 01s30or nhtsa recall no 01v390000. I have 95 mustang .around 2001- 2003 it overheated then the next night caught on fire right beside the house. Luckily i was able to get in the house and get a fire extinguisher to put out the fire .the fire began from the thermostat that controls the water temp to the radiator .it shorted out and caught on fire. I was able to get it out with minimal damage to the car however a head was warped due to the thermostat going out and the car overheating. I took it to the dealer and it was going to cost alot to fix so i took it to a shade tree mechanic who was able to fix itfor around $900.00. Later a friend had a mustang to burn to the ground for the same reason . I later got a recall on it and continue to get them but hesitated to go back to get it fixed for fear they will put another bad one on it. I am uncertain of the date and year because i did not get a receipt from the shade tree mechanic however i took the mustang to jenkins and wynn for diagnostics .they should have record of the damage.

Vehicle starting to over heat, cooling fan not coming on during normal operation, only operated while a/c was on. Received recall 01s30,dealer set appt.1/08/02.vehicle not driven 5days prior.

Whle driving vehicle started overheating, head gasket was blown, which causedradiator to crack.

Transmission started shifting hard and then the clutch start making a loud noise and start smelling.the radiator has been boiling over and ihad a raditor repair shop to fix it the first time but it start getting hot again, and i took it to the ford dealer and they worked on it, but it still kept getting hotso they flushed it out and changed the thermostat which did help it a little.

Consumer experiencing problem with vehicle engine overheating; vehicle was inspected, and replaced thermostat twice anddiagnostic, which was unable to show the problem.

Heater blowing cool air. Mechanic replaced radiator cap. Car overheated--replaced thermostat.car still overheating--replaced radiator.still overheating--replaced thermostat again.still overheating--dealer says it is a cracked head gasket!all of this happened over a period of about ten days.this appears to be an epidemic among ford 3.8l engines.any help you can provide would be very much appreciated.

Engine is overheating during normal operation of vehicle, past220 degree mark and rising. This is affecting operation ofvehicle because vehicle stalls.a private mechanic examinedvehicle and determined thataluminum headsmay be the cause ofoverheating. Thermostat has been changed twice, and there were no leaks inengine.

Engine light stay on, return car for repair, next day engine overheated; made a whining noise and smoke came out from engine. Return car for repair, advised needs new thermostat. Next day the car would not start, battery was dead. Towed car to ford dealership, advised by service, may have a head gasket defect. Service checks and confirmed head gasket blown.

Vehicle is leakingcoolant. Consumer has to add fluid about once every 20 miles.contacted dealer, and the dealer cannot find the cause.

The car overheated and had no heat inside on a drive home from our parents.when the vehicle was taken in, the first time, the dealership said it was a faulty thermostat.it was replaced, and on the way home, with no heat inside again, the car overheated.the second time it was taken in they said nothing was wrong.so i drove home once more in the cold car thinking it was ok, however there was no heat and the car once again overheated.on the cars third visit i was informed the head gaskets blew.no problem, only a week has passed without my car it's only $1200.00 to fix...also i found out that the taurus and windstar were recalled for faulty head gaskets.hey, don't those cars have the same engine?made in the same two plants?sounds funny to me.....any help in this matter is appreciated.

My car was overheating and the check engine light came on.i took my car to the dealership and had to pay $49.95 plus tax and labor for a compression test.upon completion of the test, i was told the radiator just needed flushing.i was still having problems with the car overheating.when i took it back to the dealership, i was told the coolant needed to be topped off.this should not have been needed if flushing was all that was needed the first time and if it was filled when the flushing was finished.even after topping off the coolant it was still running hot, but suddeny the check engine light was no longer coming on.the problems started somewhere along 85,000 miles to 95,000 miles.i am not really sure of the mileage because suddenly can not find my service reports and the mechanics comments that go along with it.at 101,000 miles i was still having problems with the car overheating. Still, no check engine light comes on , though the temperature guage goes all the way to hot. Suddenly my car needs $1700 worth of work.the main cause of damaged is a leaky head gasket.through doing research i have found that there was a recall of the head gasket.problem is, the recall is no longer good after 100,000 miles. I find it a little too coincidental that i have had these problems for quite some time, but nothing major was wrong with the car until after the recall warranty was expired.

Radiator over heated and cracked, which caused my head gasket to blow and also cracked the head.

Service required included replacement of defective thermostat, engine cover, both head gaskets and complete remachining of engine

Engine building up pressure in cooling system, engine overheating, no heat in the car, we replaced thermostat, still having difficulty, took to local garage they pressure tested, looked ok slight leak around timing cover. Called local ford dealership, both said possible head gasket blown. We know about recalls for other v-6 ford engines, (3.8 also?)

Radiators are bad all over. No parts avail in s.e. Usa. Plastic reservoir is cracking! help! nhsta!!

Engine head gasket failed at 117,000 miles, causing damage to engine and a hole in radiator. Please provide further information.

Car would run hot. Took vehicle to mechanic, and they replacedthermostat and water pump.

While pulling into gas station going 5 mphdriver's airbag deployed. Onaugust 7, 2001 while driving 50-55 mph passenger's airbag deployed, causingwindshield to shatter. Vehicle taken to dealer, there was a leak inradiator core, fluid dripped on computer chip for airbag, corroded chip and shorted out. Damage to vehicle was $1500.00 to $ 2000.00. No injuries.

Head gasket failed, water pump and radiator replaced.yh

The radiator was leaking. Took vehicle in for service on radiator, which was under warranty. Mechanic did not find cause of leakage. Now, 15,000 miles later, the head gaskets are causing a problem. Was no other warning except leakage earlier. Temperature gauge was not overheating. Taking vehicle back to dealer.

Had to replace engine due to overheating and blown head gaskets - cost $4600

Why is there no resolve on these issues of the head gaskets or payments after ford say theres nothing they can do?

Head gaskets are warrped and had to be replaced at fourty thousand miles. Please provide further details.

Vehicle experienced vibration while traveling on the highway at approximately 55 mph under normal road conditions. Vehicle taken to a independent repair shop for inspection, and was informed of a possible blown engine head gasket or a crack in engine block. This is a 3.8l engine. Dealer notified.

I know two people who own the same type of car with the same size engine made in the same year as my mustang who have had the exact same problems that i am now faced with.first the car starts to overheat, then the head gaskets are blown, and finally the owner of the vehicle has to have the motor reworked or buy a new motor.i have been told htat the head gaskets in the 1994-95 thunderbird with the 3.8/v-6 engine has had a recall or some kind of defect in their head gaskets.don't the motors for mustangs and thunderbirds basically come off the same assembly line?

Upon leaving work i started my car and noticed white smoke billowing out of the tailpipe.i drove less than 1 mile from work to home and had my boyfriend look at the car immediately.he advised me it was probably a blown headgasket.we had a mechanic come pick it up and tow it to the shop. Sure enough the headgasket had blown on both sides and water was in all 6 cyclinders. The car never overheated nor did it give any warning signs or lights.it just blew the headgasket with less than 60,000 miles on the car.ford has a problem with their 3.8l v6 engines built in 1995.

Head gasket blew. Asked ford customer service reps if repair covered under extended warranty since my car has same engine as the engines covered (3.8l-v6); told no. Reason: coolant flow different on rear wheel drive than fromt wheel drive.

There is a leakage coming from the engine head gasket.

While driving on street, traveling 10mph, noticed it was not blowinghot air, and the thermostatwas running hot.all of asudden a white cloud of smoke came out of the tail pipe.pulled over, and had the vehicle towed to a repair shop.was told that it had a blownhead gasket.

Head gasket failure with no warning- received letter about head gasket i called 2 different dealerships they both advised me if there was not overheating or water lose then there was no need to bring in.i called today ford motor company and she told me there was recall and should have brought in it upseting to know there was recall and i could have gotten checked before the 100,000 miles was up. Ford has problem and should fix these problems. The car quit all of a sudden with no warning.

95 ford mustang with 58,000 miles on way home from work engine got hot and died blew a head gasket. Ford has a notice of faulty head gaskets which we never received andford refused to replace faulty gasket due to time limit not mileage.please advise.

Head gasket failure.

Head gasket blown while driving at low speed.

Overheating engine....replaced everything...now says blown headgasket??? i see tons of these!! need help!!!

Car overheated.had thermostat replaced.car overheated again, and had to have timinggasket replaced.car overheated again and just had head gasket replaced in january., one month later, have to have transmission rebuilt.in all fairness to ford, they offered to pay 50% of trans. Repairs.i asked if they would pay 75% due to the fact that i can no longer afford to keep this car running properly after all the repairs i already paid for.have not heard anything back from ford on the 75%.car still in need of repairs.will not go into 2nd gear and now o/d light flashes on dashboard.

Head gaskets blew after engine overheating with no warning from temp. Gauge.dealership wanted to fix head gasket problem and faild to notice ring damage which lead to low compression after assembly of engine.dealershiptook no responsibility for failure to notice ring damage.

Consumer states engine head gasket leaks, causing the vehicle to shut off. Dealer notified.head gaskets and cooling fan had been replaced numerous times. Ford either cover the total cost or partial. The last head gasket leak would cost the $2300. Dollars to repair which the consumer doesn't think she should pay.*ph

Blown head gasket causes anti-freeze to leak from engine. Vehicle only has 35000 miles of wear. Believes this condtion is not normal at this low mileage. Seeking help from nhtsa in this matter.dealer/manufacturer notified, and refused to repair unless cost goes to consumer.consumer was told of a recall concerning head gasket, butconsumer's vehicle was not under this recall.

Connecting rod failure due to head gasket problem

Cracked engine gasket.

While driving theres a violent shake in steering wheel, this makes vehicle hard to control, consumer also complained of problems with the head gasket, parking brake and fan cooling system. *jg

At 57000 miles the car's heater stop working. The following day the engine overheated. The problem was diagnosed as a head gasket failure. The cause of the problem was failure of the gasket resulting in anti-freeze leaking into the engine which was subsequently being burned by the engine. The leaking anti-freeze resulted in heat not being dissipated from the engine compartment which resulted in the lack of heat from the vents and the overheating of the engine. Cost of repair was $1033.96.

Ongoing problem with the 3.8l v-6 engine in other ford cars that they extended the warrany on. The mustangs are not included even thought they have the same engine and engine problems. Ford motor co and their authorized dealers are avoiding accountabilty even though they know the problem exists.

After following manufacturer recommended maintenance for 3.5 years, without any signs of mechanical difficulties (i.e. Engine overheating, loss of coolant, loss of power), approximately few minutes after starting car for the first time one day, there was rough idling and white smoke coming out of the exhaust. After taking the car to my nearest ford service center, i was informed that my car had blown a head gasket.after researching the internet, i discovered that there has been a recall for this problem in 3 other models (windstar, taurus, and sable) of ford of the same year (1995) with the 3.8 l engines (recall 98-mo1) for defective head gaskets.i have been informed by the ford dealer that ford motor co., will not accept liability for this problem with the 1995 mustangs.i am alos aware that there have been numerous other complaints from other 1995 ford mustang owners with nhtsa for this same problem.i respectfully ask that the nhtsa exercise it's authority and hold ford motor co. Accountable for this defect in the 1995 mustang and include it in recall 98-mo1.please respond on your proposed action on this complaint asap as i am forced to pay out-of-pocket expenses (which may exceed $2000) by my local ford service center.thank you.

Engine check light came on, vehicle would lose power ,and start to hesitate. Vehicle taken to a repair shop, and informed consumer of a blown head gasket. Dealer andmanufacturer werenotified. Feel free to provide any further information.

3.8l v6 engine was overheating and losing coolant while driving. Vehicle taken to a dealer, and dealerinformed consumer of a blown head gasket. Feel free to provide any further information.

I am logging this issue to report a head gasket failure on my ford 3.8 v-6 engine. Altought no one was harned, i did experience the engine failure in rush hour traffic on my way home from work. I did have to pull over on a poorly lit road at night with heavy traffic. Luckily no one was hurt. My real complaint is that i incurred a $3800 engine repair bill from a premature failure of an engine component and ford does not feel they should reimburse me or 100's of others that are experiencing this same problem. Is there any help your agency can provide in this matter. Can you require for to recall this engine? please advise. Thank you.

Ford has extended warranty to taurus and windstar owners which has same 3.8l engine.i think it is extemely unfair that they have excluded the mustang.i believe this is a defect because for the 1996 ford mustang the head gasket was changed....why change a part if there is no defect!

The 1994 & 1995 ford mustang engines had an engine head gasket failure and repairs were done by ford dealers. Ford dealers in some cases had to replace the engines and told consumers that ford had put a new engine, however, consumers were not told that ford had used helicoils on the engine cylinder blocks. Helicoils is a cheap, quick fix, and non-permanant gauget to repair stripped treads. Consumers are unaware until the car is taken for a tune-up or the helicoils fail, causing the consumer additional repairs in the thousands of dollars for another head job.

Poor engine management, causing vehicle to race between gear shifts, especially when vehicle is at operating temperature and has been parked.

The head gasket in the engine failed.i have been finding more and more reports that there was a problem with the head gaskets in that model engine.

Many mustang owners are experienceing the same overhead gasket problems that the windstar and taurus were just given an exstended service plan for.i have contacted ford and they refused to assist me with this problem.it is to my knowledge the same egine that is used in the windstar (3.8l v6) so i am questioning the fact the mustang was left out of the esp.

Radiator over heated and cracked, which caused my head gasket to blow and also cracked the head.

It was found that nhtsa has been conducting an investigation into this head gasket problem since 1995 (investigation # ie98080).when a ford dealer was contacted, he expalained that ford was having trouble with the head gaskets on the 3.8 liter engine.they have since been changed.could you please notify me if there has been a recall on this engine for early head gasket failure.thank you.

While driving 20 mph white smoke started coming out of the exhaust system.after turningengine offconsumer could not restart vehicle.a dealership has examinedvehicle anddetermined that head gasket failed. It has to be replaced.please provide any additional information / documentation.

Blown head gasket, total cost: $1140. The number of complaints i have seen posted and the fact that this engine is being covered in other models, (windstar, etc), mustang's 3.8l engines should be included. What do i need to do to follow up, or will i receive follow up information from nhsta? obviously, this is a major problem with mustangs, not just the other vehicles! they've extended the warranty coverage on the other vehicles to 7 years and 100,000 miles. I have the docomentation with mileage and date on my repair receipt. Please let me know what i need, or can do. Thank you.

Ford had a recall to 100,000 miles, i was not notified until my car was at 102,000...now my head gasket fails and they still will do nothing. *nlm **dimsii ivoq entry posted after 12/12/02 cut-over to artemis*741136

I am faithful in preforming the necessary preventative maintenance steps on my ford mustang.the head gasket failure at only 92,000 miles is unacceptable.ford recently contacted windstar owners because of premature failure of head gaskets on 3.8 liter engines.but they have not included the mustang.when i go on the internet at yahoo message boards regarding ford i find many more ford customers complaining of the same problem.i feel that ford has manufactured a defective product that is prone to premature failure and they should pay for all repairs.to date they have refused to reimburse me for the +$1,900 repair bill.i would like for the dot to inquire as to the number of reported and/or repaired head gaskets on 3.8 liter engines and detremine why ford has not included the mustang.

Secondary owner states head gasket blew. There is a recall relating to head gasket.however consumer was denied reimbursement because the claim was submitted too late.consumer is requesting reimbursement stating that claim was submitted within time specified.

This engine is the same as the taurus and windstar.both vehicles engines have bullitins on their head gasket problems.the mustang has the same problems but ford refuses to do anything about this.i run synthetic oil in this car and have changed the antifreeze every 20000 miles.i change the oil at 3000 miles religiously .this is the only reason it has lasted this long.i have also had problems with the a/cbrake rotors and rear differential. Ford needs to address this problem, and quite making excuses.rress/cytrh

Whle driving vehicle started overheating, head gasket was blown, which causedradiator to crack.

I would start my car in the morning and notice the temperature gauge go up rapidly. The temperature gauge never went past normal and into the red, during this time, no heat would blow. Then the temperature gauge would drop and warm air would blow. I changed the thermostat, temperature sensor, and the radiator( which solved the problem for about two days). Nothing left but the head gaskets and maybe even a cracked head.wasn't there a recall for windstar's with the same engine?this is my second engine from ford, the first one gave out around 36,000 miles. When will american car companies built reliable engines?no wonder the foreign car companies do well in america!

I wrote to mr. Jac nasser personally using certified mail and was subsequently contacted by a mr. Lance tang. I was told nothing could be done because the vehicle was outside the warranty period even though the repair cost $3316.88. I must say i thought this was quite a travesty when ford motor company have this head gasket problem with similar engines in other vehicles.

Premature head gasket failure , driving on i-75 at 70 mph on way to work.

Engine head gasket failed on way to work car was towed to manteca ford and heads torn down, head gasket and additional work estimated at $2200, refused work at that time, had car repaired at later date, total cost $900.automatic transmission/ overdrivefailure while driving in town, car taken to garage 10 components repaired or replaced, total cost $1583.77.car has only 82,000 miles on odometer and is not raced or used in a haphazard manner, it is main transportation to and from work (round trip 1.5 mi) and as travel car for vacation, has never towed another vehicle nor been in any accidents or incidents. Believe head gasket failure precipitated by electric cooling fan failure 3 mos. Prior.fan replaced at personal cost, no problems.

The head gasket has blown on my mustang prematurly.the car is not even 5 years old yet, nor is it paid for yet.i saw in a report that ford has covered this problem for other models of fords, but when i talked to the dealership, she said that they do not cover mustangs.

First time faliure was noticed ...was going 65 down the interstate we procded to pull over cause thought it was just a normal everyday overheat,so we pulled off to a rest area to let it cool down so we could then add some water in hopes the problem would go away ..we then started to drive at a slower speed cause when we got back in the check engine light was on .we then got home and when we got there which is a aproximate miles would be less then 30 miles from where first came in to the problem ..i then added more water and some antifrezze in hopes that would help ..then i let the car set for the rest of the day and through the night ..when i woke up to go to work i got back in the car and senn the check engine light was still oni also noticed the temp went back downbut of course time would show it would heat back up to a bubbling in less then 15 mins time from when the car was started ..i then took it to the local garage and they informed me the left head gasket had to be replaced ..and since then it has ran like a charm..thank you sally

I have two (2) 1995 3.8l mustangs.both engines have a connecting rod bearing that is knocking very loudly and the engines must be replaced.this has happened within weeks of each other.there is definitely a problem with this engine.

Traveling home with young child when white smoke began coming out of exhaust - had the car towed to dealership the following morning, they stated the head gasket had blown and the engine was ruined.ford agreed to pay less than half the cost of repairs.this appears to be a rampant problem with the 94 - 95 ford 3.8l engines owing to defective head gasket design.

I took my mustang to the dealership because my heater went out.after having the car several days i was told my head gasket blew, causing $1600.00 worth of damage.there were no warning signs prior to the failure such as a "engine check"light or fluid leakage.until i confronted the dealer that i was toldthe 3.8l engine was having problems they acted as though they knew nothing of a problem.then i was told the recall was only on that engine with front wheel drive vehicles, not rear wheel drive such as my mustang.i don't understand what difference that would make.if i should be lodging a complaint elsewhere then please let me know.thank you.

I have identical head gasket, engine, transmission and paint peeling problems as thousands of other mustang owners. I am not going to take this anymore from ford i am contacting them one last time. On april 16 i will start a public awareness campiagn in my area to inform everyone of my probelms with ford and their products. I want my car fixed .ford knows about these probelms and will not fix them. I have a blown head gasket and no money to fix this new yard ornament.

The engine stalled without warning.

Both cylinder heads removed by mechanic to replace gasket and found #3 cylinder to be blown.this should not happen under normal driving conditions at 70,000 miles - it is obviuosly a detect in design or manufacturing.i understand there is a ford recall, but the 1995 mustang is excluded!

Since head gasket has blown, entire engine needs to be replaced, per for the ford motor company.

A blown out enginehead gasket of a 3.8l engine caust coolant to leak and engineto overheat.manufacturer notified, and informed consumer that there was no recall on that part.

If this was recalled on other vehicles (same model year) why did ford leave out the mustang?i have spoken with owners of 195 windstar who told me that the same problem was fixed for free on their vehicles.this shows that ford admits a defect, yet they fail to include mustangs in this group.the 3.8 liter engine is the same for all ford vehicles.when they had the hood separation problem on windstar, they also recalled mustangs for the same problem.they should also recall the mustang for inferior materials used for the front cover gasket.if this problem is not taken care of, i can lead to larger problems.with this economy, most people don't have an extra $600 dollars laying around.urge ford to include mustangs in this group.

A safety recall was issued for my vehicle [xxx] in the spring of 2001 for engine head gaskets.i took my vehicle to my local ford dealership.a coolant pressure test was performed.it was determined that the head gaskets were not bad enough to warrant replacing at that time.in late may 2001 the engine froze up on my vehicle.i returned it to the ford dealership for the safety recall.the dealership replaced the engine with a remanufactured engine on 6/7/01.this head gaskets on this remanufactured engine have now failed in my vehicle.ford now claims that the remanufactured engine has a 24 month/24,000 mile warranty on it. The ford motor company refuses to fix the problem under their recall program.updated 07/30/2012information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6)

Seen ford has had many problems with head gaskets on the 3.8 v6 engine. This is one of them.

Reporting a 3.8l v6 engine withhead gasket failure; manufacturer was notified ,and informedconsumer that vehicle was not covered under the extended warranty.the consumer wants to know why the head gasket warranty does not go over 100,000 miles.

Head gasket blew in my 1995 ford mustangand caused the car to overheat.this is the second occurrence following an occurrence in october of 2000 which lead to the car being serviced at cook-whitehead ford under an extended warranty by ford motor company.there are many other complaints about head gaskets with the ford 3.8l engines and repeats of head gasket problems that i have found on the internet and was also told by the ford representative on their customer service hotline.she has suggested that i pay attention and that from the number of complaints there may possibly be a safety recall issued.i believe that sub-standard parts were used to supposedly fix an already below standard part and that proper procedures were not completed when the car was originally serviced.

While drivingwhite smokecame fromtail pipe, had vehicle towed. Headgasket had blown out.

Service required included replacement of defective thermostat, engine cover, both head gaskets and complete remachining of engine

While driving, the vehicle would leak oil and coolant from the tail pipe. Contacted the dealer and was informed the head gasket was defective. The vehicle is beyond the seven year or 100k mile warranty.. Consumer stated while driving, the vehicle started shaking, the engine did not have the same power as it should have and was leaking a mixture of coolant and oil from the exhaust, the next day vehicle was hard to start, consumer contacted the dealer and they admitted the head gasket was defective.

This car has been maintained in exceptional condition.problems of this nature should not occur in a car of this age.ford is not recognizing the defective head gasket failures in mustangs.they are, however, recognizing the windstar failures with the same engine and secretly reimbursing owners.

While driving at highway speedsvehicle began to decrease in speed althoughbrake pedal was not applied. Dealer was contacted, informed consumerhead gaskets were leaking. Please provide further details.

Head gasket leaking. Technician states this model engine has a problem with "rotted" out head gaskets. Vehicle has been serviced every 3000 miles (all records available). Seals to the inner tie rods on the rack & pinion began leaking, not serviceable, necessary to replace the rack assy. Power steering fluid changed yearly. Also, rear differential assy rebuilt under manufactures warranty @ about 35000, due to a "whinning" noise. Noise returned @ about 45000, now off warranty.

Recall was for head gasket repairs only, but failure caused other engine component damage that is not covered in the recall.

After 60k service i had many overheatings, and finally had to replace the head gasket cost ~ $1400.

Ford should be liable there recall is on all 3.8l engines for blown head gas.besipemine.

While driving, engine light came on; then, vehicle start overheating.took vehicle to dealer and they found out that engine had a blown head gasket. Dealer could not fix it, instead wanted to replace it. The timing chain cover had a leak. The vehicle's entire engine needed replaced. The vehicle was smoking and overheating after repair because intake manifold gasket was not replaced.

Typical head gasket failure on mustang.95 models of other vehicles are being covered, but mustangs are not.apparently, the same 3.8l engine is used, as well as the same head gasket.manufacturer will not help despite serious trend of occurrences and only 700 miles beyond warranty.

Cracked head gasket/factory backordered/spoke w/litterally hundreds of owners w/same problem the head blows for no apparent reason my car was started & cold andwhen i backed out of the driveway wham it blew. Talked to dealer said not their problem.a problem w/a vehicles head is a major problem. Please reply on actions being taken.

Vehicle would run rough and lose coolant while driving. Dealer contacted, and informed consumerthat the 3.8l v6 engine had a blown head gasket. Feel free to provide any further information.

I was just wondering if i could get reimbursed for my blown head gasket i talked to ford and they said to bring it down and i did so i towed it to ford and they said they can't fix the gasjet for free because it just reached 100 thousand miles and i had to tow my car back home but they showed no concern and told me to get my car out because it is blocking thier way i felt mistreated and ignord soi got it fixed at another shop and they fixed it for $1300 and i never heard of any recall until i saw it on mustangworld.com sorry for if this is not concerning you i just don't know who to compain to thanks.

Engine head gasket has blown at 62,000 causing coolant to leak into engine. Manufacturer's tsb will notcover mustang because it had different coolant system.

Engine head gasket blew, causing loss of compression and engine stopping. This is a common complaint with the 3.8 engines with ford in the taurus and sable. Ford has been fixing this problem but will not fix this in the mustang. I notified ford that this is the same engine in all three vehicals. Had to be towed at my expence. Ford sayed they will not cover!!!!!.

Head gaskets failed (rotted out). Have been told ford has recalled the same year taurus with the same size engine. I got to believe that both vehicles have the sama exact engine. Therefore, if the taurus has been recalled for this problem, why not the mustang?

While driving engine would die out for no reason. There would be no warning prior to stalling. This happened at different speeds. Vehicle would restart sometimes. Taking vehicle to dealership to have mechanic look at it.

Enginehead gaskets have blownout prematurely. Dealer has been notified.

This car is immacualte and maintenace performed as outlined. It is my understanding that recall # 98-mo1 has been issued for a head gasket problem with this engine, just not for my model. This is rediculous. It is my feeling that the mustang 3.8l engine is no different than that that has been recalled on the windstar, taurus, and sable. Just because my car has not been included in the recall, does not mean that it shouldn't be included in the recall. I personally know 2 other individuals that also have 3.8l. Mustangs that have blown their head gaskets in the last 6 months. There is no reason that a well-maintained automobile that is not driven hard should be experiencing this problem with this few of miles. It is also my undrstanding that the recall ended on 12-31-98. I did have my car in and diagonosed as having a head gasket problem on 12-28-98 at st. George ford.

On 2/1/02 car was running hot, fan motor out, replaced fan motor $239.62, on 2/5/03 car running out, took in to ford dealership, diagnosed as head gaskets blown, cooling fan working. Took to independent mechanic, bdr automotive, removed and replaced head gaskets.then in october 2003 car started running hot again, mechanic tom at program auto replaced heads, radiator, thermostat, car continued to run hot. Mechanic tom told us to replace sending unit sensor, we changed sensor. Continued running hot. Mechanic tom found hole in heater coil, rerouted hose to engine, bypassing heater, 2 days later we had to replace water pump and thermostat again.car is still running hot.could it be the electric circuit breaker issue that the other vehicle had?

On 3/12/99 my mustang overheated. I had it checked by a mechanic at a local garage and was informed that he thought it was a blown head gasket.i then had it towed to my personal mechanic for closer inspection.i have maintained my car as specified and with only 36,550 miles my mechanic can think of no reason for this to happen.i talked to ford about the same problem in the taurus's and the windstars, but was told the bad parts did not go mustangs. I find this coincidental considering others have complained to the nhtsa about this same problem.i had the head gasket repaired then shortly thereafter i began to hear a noise when the engine was at 3500 to 4000 rpm.when i returned it to the mechanic he discovered that my main rod bearing and other rod bearing were broken and the engine would have to be replaced.

Both engine head gaskets have blown, causing engine to overheat, in return, causes the timing chain to break. Consumer learned of a manufacturer's recall done on a ford windstar for same problem which they honored. But refused to accept theabove problemas similarto manufacturer's recall. Could somthing be done?

Dealer replaced electric fan, thermocouple and later the thermostat which did not fix the overheating problem which was caused by a blown headgasket. So far the cost of repairs is over $6oo.oo with another $1100.00 for the headgaskets.

Vehicle blew the head gasket after 4 years and 51,000 miles.

Once car was started and driven a block vehicle overheated.vehicle has experienced this problem before, anddealer refused to honor recall.

Head gasket blown and causing problems with coolant system 2.ball stud causing vehicle to vibrate, i took it for alignment and they can't seem to fix the shaking, please look into the recall on my vehicle for rod ends incorrect taper ball studs. I called the dealership and they told me that there were problems with 3.8 liter vehicles, the mercury, windstar, linc, but 95 mustang 3.8 was not included for head gasket problems.

While driving 60mph coolant leaking into gaskets, causing overheating in middle of highway .

Head gasket failure caused engine core to warp, thus requiring new/remanufactured engine installation. After reading about all the other 95 ford 3.8 l v6 engines with the same problems, i would think that ford motor company should bear the financial responsibility for this mishap.

The vehicle overheated due to a cracked head gasket. ...

Blown head gasket due to faulty temperature gauge/water pump failure @ 53k miles!*mjs

I received a recall notice a year or so ago for the head gaskets in my car - is this recall notice still effective?

Prior to manufacturer's recall regarding the head gasket, consumer's vehicle began to overheat, dealer replaced the fan belt, thermostat, head gasket, and pulley, consumer was reimbursed when recall notice was sent, however the problem is back again and this time the vehicle is also losing a lot of oil along with the overheating.

I bought a 1995 ford mustang in april of 2003 with decent miles about 73000.i have had the vehicle a short time and i am having problems with overheating and now discovered my head gasket blew.i have heard of recalls for this but can't find anything anywhere for sure.one dealer says there is not one out for my particular vehicle and then the other days the recall has expired.this is a very expensive fix and with all these problems you would hope there wouldn't have been an expiration date placed on a general recall like this.please help,do not know what to do.

Head gasket on my 1995 mustang is blown. I read all over the internet that this is a know problem with ford 3.8l engines and they have a specific recall for all front wheel drive vehicles in this year range with the exact same problem.my car has the exact same engine in it as the front wheel drive cars which are covered for repairs. I should be compensated.i read that this is an ongoing problem with these vehicles and might happen again as soon a 2 days later.i will not stand for this.ford has acknowledged that there is a problem with this engine and all vehicles with this equipment should be covered by the warranty.

While traveling 70 mph vehicle overheatedas aresult of a blowen outengine head gasket. Please provide further information.

Consumer states that while driving and without warning the head gasket blew causing the consumer to pull over. Dealer replace twice. Ts

While consumer was driving, head gasket blewout. There was no prior warning. Vehicle became inoperable, and there was a puddle of oil on the ground. Consumer stated the cooling fan stopped working.

1995 ford mustang-3.8liter blown head gasket- contacted ford-said not their problem. Contacted kron.com and ford announced recalls on 700,000 vehicles for 1994 and 1995 with 3.8 liter engines.only listed limited sales cars/vans-windstar,taurus.my problem is i have the same engine with the same problem, but ford denies including the mustang.is the reason because they sold too many mustangs and it would cost ford too much for the repairs?.the head gaskets are factory, and ford uses their own product on all 3.8 liter engines.the dealership, lithia ford in napa, diagnosed the problem and knew about the problem and said nothing about the recall.please contact me or leave message 707-966-2605 or 707-315-5930.

I have reason to believe that the head gasket has failed on my 1995 ford mustang. I have read numerous accounts of people having problems with their 1995 ford mustangs. I have also found reports of.

Head gaskets on my car have broke.this is rare because my car has low mileage.ford has issued a recall on other models like the astrovan, and tarus.but not the mustang and it is the same promblem.their have been many other people complaining about this problem also.

Consumer went start up vehicle and noticed white smoke coming from the engine. Engine head gasket blew out.

Overheating, loss of power, loss of oil, probable blown head gaskets, took to dealership 3 times, dealership stated they would replace engine (long block) due to heads on recall.got car back, they temp. Replaced head gaskets until motor arrives in 6 to 12 weeks due to high volume of recalls.got car back, in worse condition than when i took it to them.took it back again because they left hoses, brackets unhooked and loose.and also with the suspension of the head gaskets not being changed because same head bolts were in motor.they told me that they did change head gaskets and bolts and if there was any mechanical problem they would fix it.and if it was electrical i had to fix it or pay them to fix it.left it there, picked up vehicle after 4 days, no change in condition of motor running.have never heard anything since.have called to question about new motor, and still no response.have power train warranty, butcan"t drive car

Ford should be liable there recall is on all 3.8l engines for blown head gas.besipemine.

Consumergot a warning about head gaskets, manufacturer'srecall 00m10.but dealer refused to work on vehicle. Also, did not check vehicle. Contacted dealer, and dealer stated will not fix head gasket unless completely damaged. Also, dealer stated thiswas not a recall.

Was told by ford that they would not cover or help in any way to replaceengine head gasket.

4.8 enging blown head gasket.problem for some time, but gasedt replaced on 3/9/00.see ny times article of march 12. "ford to compensate owners over v-6 problems. But not mustang.

I had a recall on the head gasket of my 1995 ford mustang and had it replaced by best ford three times within 3 years.in december of 2002 i was told by best ford i had another cracked head gasket. This would be the fourth time ford would be replacing this recalled gasket.ford wanted to charge me $1200 for this forth recalled gasket because my warranty was expired.i feel that ford should replace a recalled part with a "new" part so that the same problem does not keep happening.i am extremely upset with ford for not fixing my recall and feel what they did was wrong.

I was driving along at 45 mph and the car started to shudder and shake.after a little while, the check engine light came on. I never registered a high engine temperature display.i took it in to the shop, and they topld me i blew 2 head gaskets, and ford is notorious for this.i want my money back, it cost over $1000 to fix the bloody thing.

After constanlyt overheatinghead gasket had melted.had to be replaced by dealer with no prior warning.please provide more information.

Crankshaft failure.

My 1995 ford mustang has a blown engine. I heard that there was a recall on the head gasket for that 3.8l engine. Please help!

My ford mustang has a known (by ford motor company)engineering defect. The head gasket is blown and it caused related problems from over heating.ford motor company will not assume responsibilty. This problem is clearly an engineering defect.my satisfaction has not been met in this matter. My address needs to be corrected to reflect that i live in mi not ia.

While driving 65mph vehicle was overheating and smoking. Contacted dealer about head gasket program, and dealer stated it was too late.

Head gasket has cracked, possibly damaging engine.consumer received manufacturer's recall 00m10, however failure occurred prior to receiving notice and consumer has not received reimbursement.

Baught car in august of 2000, drove it one week and it has been in the shop numerous times for various items fixed; ie; overheated twice then blew headgasket, drivers rear rotor caught on fire, recall on hood which was separating, major fuel leak, fuel hose by fuel tank, water leak from timing cover gasket

While driving up a hill, engine started to make a grinding noise while accelerating. When i looked at dash the temp gage was on hot and burning smell came from engine. Pulled over had car taken to chino hills ford and was told head gasket blew. I was told these things just happen sometimes. Work done was headgasket blown r/r cylinder headboth sides send out for valve job, replaced front cover gasket and water pump gasket and front seal///////regarding the a/c when i drove with the a/c on i would hear a rattling noise coming from the engine area. Same dealer regaped clutch and field in a/c compressor

Head gasket failure caused engine core to warp, thus requiring new/remanufactured engine installation. After reading about all the other 95 ford 3.8 l v6 engines with the same problems, i would think that ford motor company should bear the financial responsibility for this mishap.

When driving onhighway at 65-70 mphvehicle stalls and cuts off withoutprior warning, resulting in loss of all power. Also, after allowingvehicle to cool down it will restart.consumer has contacteddealer. Pleae provide any further details.

Car began overheating and leaking coolant.took to woodfield ford for analysis/repair.was infromed that front engine cover gaskets were leaking. Paid 1035.05 for repairs.car still had overheating problems.took car back to the dealer, who then discovered head gasket leak.refused to pay $900 for further repairs.took car to local shop who replaced head gaskets for $838.found out via the web that many other 3.8l ford engines have exhibited same problem, and ford has done nothing to compensate the customers. This is unfair when compared with other cars of similar style - gaskets do not need replaced at 30k-60k miles. I am asking that ford be forced to recall all vehicles with the 3.8l head gasket defect, and reimburse all customers who have paid for the repairs themselves in the absence of this recall.

Contacted ford about continuing stereo problem, unwilling to help

Failure of ford motor co. To make head gasket repairs in accordance with service program 00m10. On 6/27/00 i brought my 1995 ford mustang in for repair in accordance with 00m10 and front cover leaking. The repairs were not made by the dealership. I called ford & got nowhere. I then called the world office of fordand asked to speak with [xxx]director, issuer of the extended warranty. I was toldthat "[xxx].is in the heirachy and unavailable to you.i know what your complaint is. I have denied it, the repair will not be made by ford. " now just as ford predicted would happen in its service program letter has happened. The gasket has failed and the engine is severely damaged. The vehicle has only 65,000 miles on it. Well within the 100,000 miles the service bulletin said ford would cover. I have contacted ford and as usual they refuse to pay for the repairs. The car is now in sobh ford in decatur, georgia, phone # 1-404-633-4005. Their mechanics said the damage to the engine is due to the gasket failure. This is the same gasket that should have been replaced by ford back in june 2000, when i brought the car in for repair in accordance with ford's service program 00m10. Now ford refuses to pay for the repair citing the 7 year time limit. Time does not wear out a car usage does. Like i have said previously there is 65,000 miles on the car, well within the 100,000 miles set in the service bulletin. I believe that there should have been no time limit set on the repairs only mileage.in addition the car should have been fixed when i brought it in for repair back on june 27, 2000. It was well within the 7 year time limit and is still right now as i write this letter well within the 100,000 mile limit set in the warranty.ford is responsible in this matter. They should have made the repair when i brought the car to them on 6/27/2000.the vehicle is a 1995 mustang, vin #[xxx] and i purchased it new back in april 1995.*nlminformation redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c.

This vehicle has fumes coming into the inside of the carit seems to be exspecially bad when the heat is on. The coolant lights stays on. I took this vechile to a exhaust company to have it looked at to see what the problem was and they said thatthe pipe that goes tothe manafold was missing a part of the pipe . The car is suppose toa havecadilac convertorpipes ,they have nstead dual pipe , use for racing..the vechile alsocuts off on a regular basics, when it comes to a complete stopand you go to pull off the car cut offs. When backing up the car cuts off ,the key doesn't open the drivers side of the door , the carstrains when going to start it , it take a minute for the car to start or catch and imnot sure of exactly what is with the tires but something is wrong with them, they areoff balance, they swayand there isn't a light in the trunk of the vechile. I am not sure if this is the information you wanted however i need some help on this vechile , far as the company fixing these problem they said they would but has not done so yet.

1195 ford mustang-head gaskets cracked at 35,000 miles--common problem with other mustangs of same and other years.

Consumer started having trouble with car . It cut off in the middle of the road. Would not start for a couple of days. Took to dealer, and they said it was an engine problem.

All gauges went from far left to far right in approximately 1 minute from starting engine and entering highway on ramp. Car shook, then extreme amount of white smoke poured out of rear tailpipe, smelled of burned rubber and antifreeze. Check engine light turned on as i killed engine and coasted to stop on side of highway. Haven't finished digging into all the problems yet, but temp gauge and oil gauge are not working now. I am concerned that this has destroyed my engine. After reading all the other complaints, i wonder why ford has not addressed this problem. As a rule 1 out of every 1000 will take the time to report such a problem, i printed 124 pages of similar engine failures on the 1995 3.8l v6 before i finally shut down my printer. Please advise if there is some form of recall. I had my last car 11 years and 138,000 miles before i had engine problems.

Engine cut off while driving or idling. Sometimes it is very hard to start up.

I am extremely upset with the ford motor company.i can not believe that a car with only 67,000 miles would just blow both head gaskets for no apparent reason.the $1180.00 is completely unaffordable for me, for the fact that i am finishing my college education.waiting tables in the evening at bennigan's just is not enough to cover this pricey repair.when i bought the mustang i figured if i buy a decent vehicle with a reasonable payment i can run it for quite a while with out any serious repair.and so now on top of the $165.00 a month payment i have to figure out how to pay for $1180.00 courtesy of the ford motor company.i plan on contacting ford the first chance i get and tell them about this ridiculous problem.needless to say i will never purchase a ford product again.

When plugging in air flow sensor unitvehicle will rev up to about 3000 rpms.dealer was not willing to do anything.

Oxygen sensor has been replaced twice.when this happens driver loses power and gas meilage.

Call ford they said only recall was hood assembly never informed of any recalls

This year model is a lemon. Ford knows this. I have had two recalls on car. I had to replace my head gaskets which cost mearound 1,000 dollars. It took ford months to refund my money . I bought the car knew it had a chip in the hood. When the dealer repaired it they left tape under the hood. I didn't now about the tape until i triedto trade my car in and they found the tape. The dealer told me he felt the car had been wreck and repaired. Well there goes the trade in value of my car. I called and e-mailedford about all of these problems and all i get is i am sorry that you have had such a bad experience with ford. We hope in the future you have a better one..i will never buy another ford car. Every car they build has major problems. They take yourmoney and in return you get a piece of junk.

I understand that there has been a recall for other ford models built the same year with the same problem my car had. Ford mustang owners are having problems as well--in fact, this is the second major problem i have had with my vehicle (it was recalled due to a faulty hood), and this repair cost me $1919.51.please help!

The entire top of the hood separated and flew off of the car and landed on the ground and was run over by the car behind. The hood seems to be made of 2 pieces sandwiched together. The top half of the entire hood completely separated from the bottom half. This was a safety recall item and ford claims it had been repaired. The dealer that did the repair in 1998 has changed computer systems and said they dont have a detailed record of repair. Dealer and ford both claim that repair was warranted for only 12 months. It seems the repair wasnt sufficient. I think we should expect our automobiles not to fly apart and become missles that may injure or kill people. Ford advised me to take it to a dealer . I am taking it to freehold ford in freehold, nj 732-462-3131.

I would like help regarding nhsta campaign id number 95v138000 referencing the problem with the speedometer/odometer reading.this identified ford mustangs (1995) manufactured between july 94 - jan. 95.the summary stated "these vehicles were built with speedometers registering spped in mph but the odometers indicating distance in kilometers.the odometers were intended to indicate distance in miles and were not identified with the metric 'km' designation. This does not comply with fmvss no. 101, controls and displays."the end result was that ford did not have to recall the cars or notify the owners as the noncompliance did not create an unreasonable risk to motor vehicle safety.my problem is this.if the miles registered on the odometer are actually in kilometers than a vehicle that shows 77500 actually only has 47845 miles(77500 multiplied times a kilometer 0.62137).as this car blew out head gaskets (another problem with ford and refused to recognize on mustangs) at 77500 miles, it should still be covered under a warranty that goes until 75000 miles.as i spoke with "bill" at ford motor center (800-392-3673) he said that this was correct and it should be covered if my car was manufactured within that time.the door of the car is imprinted with the date jan/95.i told him this and he took the vin number and called me back to state it should be covered, however, my car was researched and found to actually be manufactured feb. 1, 1995 and not in january, 1995.he said the metal imprint was wrong.i asked for this information in writing and he was not sure that was possible.the car does have the imprint jan, 1995 and i have the original sticker for the car which shows ship date as 1/25/95 to decker ford in clovis, ca.i do not know where else to turn.could you please provide me with information as to your campaign id number 95v138000.do you know any other agency to refer me to?thank you lora mannie

The following problem has existed on this vehicle since the first summer i have owned it. When i place the gear selector in reverse or drive, the car surges, the rpm drops and fluctuates, and the vehicle either turns off or settles down.at times when i'm at a stop sign, i press the gas to go and the car hesitates and either stops or surges forward so i have to keep my foot on the brake and keep pushing on the gas pedal so the car won't stall on me in the middle of traffic.this has been an ongoing problem which has never been corrected by the dealership.i've taken the car to the dealership numerous times and have spoken to the service manager numerous times with no success.when i take the car in for service, i am always told the car was hooked up to the computer and that the computer found nothing wrong with the car.they've replaced parts on the vehilce but it continues to respond the same way.these problems always seem to be worse in the summer when the weather is hot and humid and has never been corrected.i don't know how to approach this matter.i know if i continue to take the car in to the dealership they are going to keep charging me for just hooking it up to the computer and finding nothing wrong with it when in reality there is something wrong with it. Through my personal investigations, i have found out that ford vehicles before the year 1999 have had problems with the torque converters, regardless of the make of the vehicle. With so much compelling evidence about the failure of torque converters in ford vehicles, it shocks me that there hasn't been a recall mandated by the government. Ford refuses to pay for this defect! please help me in rendering justice.

Dealer indicated this was a common problem with ford mustang and they had repaired many vehicles due to the failure of the torque converter. With only 21000 miles this part should not have failed. Ford motor should extend their warrenty to cover this part or recall the vehicle.

2nd time rear seat belts were used they locked in a retracted position and can not be used again.because of the designed belt tracking guides the belts fold when entering the spindle causing a jamming and subsequently the belts can not be used.releasing the mechanism is very difficult and can not be done on the road.this is especially dangerous in a convertible when people are on a trip and can not use the belts.this problem keeps recurring.

Rear seat beltsare inoperable.seat belts will not pull out of retractor.contacted ford, and ford stated nothing they could do and pass warranty.

Drivers seat broke!the seat track snapped in two places (metal) where connected to the floor. When taken to dealer i am told it is not a safety issue and i have to pay the $228.00 for a new seat, plus labor. Car was not safe to drive, was like a roller coster ride when turning corners. I've noticed over 10 other complaints for the same problem. Why isn't it a recall?

The left track on the driver's seat that is used to connect theseat to the frame of carbroke. Everytime a right turnis made the seat tilts.the dealer has been notified about the problem.the problem is being corrected at owner's expense.

While traveling about 40mph on a side streetdriver's side seat broke onleftside. Bolts and anchor are still in tack with the seat.dealership is aware ofproblem.

Seat track completly broken on one side and seat tips when going around corners. I feel this is not a "wear and tear" item.i think this a safety issue and it should be addressed by ford motor company.

The seat track on my car broke right after the 3 years was up, although as of now i have just over 32200 miles on the car.i was able to tilt the driver's seat up all the way.when taken to different dealers and calling fords 800 numberi was told it wasn't covered since the time was up.i replaced the seat and found that the metal had snapped in two places( near the holes where the seat was bolted down) would this be as a safety problem?i still have the orignal parts.dt

The driver seat bracket snapped in two places.

The left bracket/track that attaches the driver's seat to the floor board broke about a year ago. I have had to drive with a broken and unstable seat ever since. Yesterday while on the freeway i attempted to stretch my back and the bracket/track on the right side broke! this caused me to swerve an nearly hit the middle cement retainer wall! now there is nothing to hold the driver's seat securely to the floor. I have a friend who also owned a 1994 mustang and the exact same thing happened to his seat too. In fact, everything that went wrong with his, went wrong with mine. We both have had to have the transmissions replaced (twice!), idle sensors replaced, complete brake system replaced, radiators replaced, water pumps replaced, the check engine lights remain on all the time no matter what is done to the car, and the same brackets on the same seats have broken. After the multiple number of complaints regarding the same seat issue, doesn't that constitute some sort of recourse for the customer to have repairs done at ford's expense? it's obviously not an owner's issue if so many owners are having the same problem. It's obviously an issue of ford using sub-standard materials in their manufacturing of the vehicles. As i said, this just about caused me to have a very major accident on the freeway. I could have been killed. If ford does not stand behind their product and take responsibility for the defective parts in their cars they are going to find themselves with a very huge law suit when some on finally does get killed.*nlm

Seatback of driver'sseat broke.

On may 11, 2004, i put the drivers seat forward to take items out of the back seat of the car.when i pulled the drivers seat back rest into it's original postion for driving, it fell completely onto the back seat.upon examination, by both myself and gillespie ford service center, it was determined that the bolt securing the release lever sheared off in threads in the frame of the drivers seat, rendering the seat unable to take a safe driving position.i was subsequently told that the bolt could not be extracted and it would require a complete replacement of the frame to render the car safe for driving once more for an estimated sum of over $600.00 not including tax and labor.

Driving my 1995 ford mustang at approx 25 miles per hour when the seat back support just gave in causing me to grip the steering wheel in order to physically stay upright in the vehicle. I'm fortunate i wasn't going faster or this occurring on the freeway. I could have killed myself or others due to the material failure. Dealership examined vehicle and found the left front recline mount bolt broken. Dealership also ordered and replaced the left front seat recliner assy. Reported incident to ford motor company. I want an agency to be alerted of a potential hazard and investigate. Hopefully lives don't have to be sacrificed in order to get the ball rolling.

We specifically asked if it was taken care of. The salesman did an inquiry and we were shown a printout which confirmed that our vin# did not have any recalls. 6 months later(sept), we received a recall notice for the item we specifically addressed. The top of the hood separating from the body of the vehicle could be fatal. Fortunately, my wife and i are good drivers. I cannot begin to tell you how angry i am. Other manufacturers make national media announcements, and ford didn't even let their own dealership know of this life threatening issue. Your web page information indicates the entire year was recalled. To me, this means there were no exempt vin#'s! i have called ford twice. They said to call your offices. I hope there are no fatalities caused by their obvious lack of urgency. 2000 characters is not enough. I will also call.thank you, james a. Jensen jr.

While driving at any speed steering wheel shakes and shimmies. Also there is a popping nosie while turning the steering wheel in any direction. The dealer/manufacturer were notified about the problem.problem has not been corrected.

The car shakes like going over a speed strip on the highway.

Automobile shimmies whenreaching a speed of 40-45 mph.dealer says there is nothing wrong with automobile.

Vehicle experienced vibration while traveling on the highway at approximately 55 mph under normal road conditions. Vehicle taken to a independent repair shop for inspection, and was informed of a possible blown engine head gasket or a crack in engine block. This is a 3.8l engine. Dealer notified.

When driving vehicle 40 to 45 mph it vibrates. Contacted dealer, and hadwheels balanced, but it did not remedy the problem.

Vehicle shakes and vibrates while traveling any speed. Dealer has been contacted, but has been unable to locate or remedy source of problem. Please provide further details.

Front end alignments do not hold, causing premature wear on power steering rack and tie rods, also vehicle constantly drifts and hard to steer on highway.

Vehicle "bottoms out" when crossing bumps.

Vehicle would shake at 20mph. Would increase shaking when speed was increased. Would over compensate with steering either left or right. Have wear & tear on rack & pinion due to the vibrations. Had the rack & pinon changed twice.alignment failed 30 days after rack & pinon. The wheel balance went out. Tires were excessively on edges.

Vibration of the vehicle while driving, causing a loss of control of vehicle

Entire vehicle shimmies while driving ; mostly, steering wheel, seats and floor; happens at any speed, especially 40 mph and up, also replaced tires.

When driving on wet pavement the vehicle speeds around, causing the consumer to have a near accident.

While driving in a very light rain consumer could not control the car , the vehicle wandered all over the road, consumerwas driving about 45-50 mph, each timeupon hittingpuddle of water, the vehicle hydroplaned.

While driving, experienced front end alignment failure, when pulling to right/upon braking, vehicle seems to wonder all over road, all tires have been replaced.

Violent shaking occurs while slowing down to around 20 mph.

Front end misaligned. *sd

Front end suspension shimmies when driving.would have lots of play in steering wheel. The temperature guage would run high. The cd player would come on or stop. Would make grinding noise. The door locks on the driver side will not work properly due to power locks not working.the electrical system is not working properly.

While vehicle was in for inspection mechanic noticed that driver's side front coil spring broke. Coil spring badly corroded causing it to break in 2 locations.nlm

Front stabilizer bar rusted/cracked.

This reports a failure which occurred very early in the car ownership, but which only recently came to light. It is a report of a defective sway bar which apparently fractured during the first month of ownership causing improper handling and control, along with excessive vibration of the vehicle during the ensuing years of ownership. The owner did not realize the source of this improper performance until some time later when the fractured sway bar broke off on one side causing a now noticeable rattling noise. However, this noise only occurred at speeds over 30 mph and bumpy road surface conditions.it was only after the service manager had visually inspected the break upon replacement of the sway bar that a fracture-braking sequence over time was evident due to rust in only a portion of the break. The most startling discovery was the evidence of metal crystalization in and around the site of the break. Thus, it was apparent that this was a molded hole rather than a machined or drilled hole. In assessing this incident the manager verbally confirmed that this would have caused the improper vehicle handlingand poor performance, along with the excessive vibration experienced by the owner soon after purchase.the manager also agreed that at high speeds this loss of the sway bar strengthening of the vehicle framemight result in complete loss of vehicle control. He urged me to report it to ford motor company corporate headquarters as soon as possible. He provided me with the appropriate phone number.i did verbally report this incident and asked that the information be brought to the attention of other similarly-equipped ford convertibles owners for a safety inspection of the sway bar installation in their own vehicle. Also, i asked that the symptoms of excessive vibration and poor handling (unstable swaying) be brought to their attention as a clue to possible fracture of the sway bar since both of these symptoms had completely disappeared after bar replacement.

Rear sway bar broke at the bolt on location. To my understanding with talking to aftermarket reps. This is a problem that is very common, even though svt (ford special vehicle team) totally denies the occurances.

Rear suspension bottoms out very easily, causes a loss of traction on interstate.

A defect in the rear axle resulted in a crash.

Rear struts are weak resulting in vehicle bottoming out.

Vehicle has been in for rear shock adjustment, repaired under warranty.

No accident or injury; no lawsuit - we are reporting this solely for your info, in case it's in any way relevant to your firestone investigation. / at the time, we had two affinity tires on the rear, and two other firestone tires on the front. The affinities were nearing the end of their useful life; our mechanic (a local ford dealer) had just told us we should replace them on our next visit, but didn't need to do so at this time. The reason i bother to report is because at the end of a 200-mile drive to la, my wife and i experienced a blowout on the freeway.nothing unusual there - but when i managed to get to a gas station and we inspected the damage, we found one of the affinities (the one that blew out) seemed to have "exploded":there were giant holes in the side of the tire, and we could see things that looked like strings on the inside which i assume were part of the interior tire assembly.(i don't know much about tire manufacture, so i don't know what they really were, but they looked like big pieces of string.) the holes in the side were extremely big - the side of the tire looked something like a tire-sized black piece of swiss cheese.i have no idea what happened to the pieces of tire that used to be where the big holes in the side ended up.i have experienced blowouts before, but have never seen anything like this; so in light of the current firestone issues, thought you should know.the tires were purchased locally to us, probably in about 1997 or so - if it were important enough, we might be able to dig out that info when my wife returns in a few days.anyway, we aren't suing, no one was hurt, and it didn't seem like anything other than a blowout except for what we saw visually - i'm just reporting because i thought you might want to know.--michael( dot number: tire size: p225/60r16 )

Contacted ford under their 'new' recall date, and they said it did not apply to my vehicle.the vehicle was purchased with less than 100k miles, but they won't honor the warranty because "complete" failure did not occur prior to the 100k mile rollover. No safety defect listed within summary.

Engine check light illuminated. Took vehicle to dealer, and dealer couldn't duplicate problem.vehicle overheated again.second timehead gaskets were bad.please provide any furthr information.

Coolant was leaking out due to gasket failure on timing case cover. This car has low mileage but is driven regulalry, never sitting more than 2 days at a time. Dealer service department made comment that if car isn't driven a lot, this happens. I disagreed, as it is driven probably at least 4-5 times a week, on short trips mostly. They charged me 505.26 including tax to fix this. There is no way this should have been leaking. I feel like ford owes me something on this. I called a ford consumer number i found on the internet and all the guy did was listen in silence while i made my 2-3 minute complaint, then asked me 'is there anything else?'. He didn't even offer to connect me with anyone who could investigate the problem. He said that 'we support our service departments diagnosis'. Needless to say, i am very upset with ford. This is very poor quality..the car isn't even 5 years old and has very low mileage. I will try to contact someone at ford about this, but would appreciate your help.

Engine check light came on, vehicle would lose power ,and start to hesitate. Vehicle taken to a repair shop, and informed consumer of a blown head gasket. Dealer andmanufacturer werenotified. Feel free to provide any further information.

Ford has said that only the 3.5 's have problemsno mustangs are having this problem,at first the ser. I even send letter to the local newspaper.

I was driving along at 45 mph and the car started to shudder and shake.after a little while, the check engine light came on. Due to the location of the cup holder and console the parking brake jumps out of gear, causing thevehicle to roll freely.

When driving vehicle reaches 40-45mph rpm's, moves but does not accellerate. Vehicle must be completely stopped before attempting to drive again. Dealer contacted and cannot remedy the problem. Problem still exists. Provide further information.

This is not a complaint, i would like to know if there was a recall for this on my vehicle. Vibration/shudder in light acceleration.

This has been going on for 7 years now and i don't know what to do.

Consumerwas traveling on the highway vehicle had a lot of hesitationwhen she appliedgas pedal.also, torque converted was defective. Dealership toldconsumer that information.

Pulled out of parking lot on to main road and gas pedal was pulled to floor. Engine ran full throttle while brake was fully applied and car was out of control. Car spun across and into on coming traffic over shoulder and into trees. Car came to rest against trees with engine still running wide open. Key was turned off and engine shut down. After i reached my composure, i restarted car to pull out of trees, but engine run full throttle and i shut it back down.i got out of car and opened the hood to discover that the cruise control had the throttle pulled wide open and would not release it. I pried off the cable connector, of the cruise control, from the throttle lever and the throttle returned to the idle position. The cruise control cable would not move in either direction, it is locked in the full throttle position. The cruise was not turned on. I have not repaired or tried to repair the unit and have left it as it was for inspection. I contacted ford and they said they would send someone out, from the local dealer, to inspect it, 2 weeks have passed and no one has shown up. Please help.

When starting the vehicle it has a rough idle and when puttingin gear it shakes and lurches intermittenlty.when at a stop the rpms will fall and the vehicle dies. Dealer is aware of problem. Many engine partsreplaced. Still having problems.

Heater is not working.

The ventilation system does not sufficiently clear drivers side of windshield which causes poor visibility. Consuemr stated during snow and ice the cars front windshield acts like water is trapped between the glass and consumer is unable to et the water to go away, consumer stateed vehicle defrost for 15 minutes and the driver side of the windshield still does defrost.not

Temperature on vehicle gets extremely hot, but heater blows out cold air, consumer changed thermostat, but did not solve problem, contacted dealer and dealer stated vehicle was over 100000 miles, and can not do anything about it under recall.

Radiator coolant leaked into the passenger compartment and onto the driver's feet. As a result, fumes seeped through, making the occupants light headed.dealer repaired the heating core five times. However, the problem recurred.

First failure of heater coil occurred ca 8/98.second heater coil failure 8/99.third failiure 9/26/2000.in all cases passengers became nauseated with headaches as a result of the emmision of glycol inot the passenger compartment.in all cases the failure leaked coolant onto electrical harnasses in the dashboard leading to arcing with a significant hazard to passengers.ford dealer that perfomed the repair had a standard warranty although the failure falls just outside the warranty.the coil failure is a piin hole which appears to from as a result of corrosion errosion by the coolant.

Consumer stated three weeks after the warranty expired the heater core went out.

Driver's side window shattered by itself while driving the vehicle.

Driver's seat belt is fraying very badly whenever its in use. It would seem to catch onto something when being pulled out to use, and retrack back afterwards. Been to dealer and repaired under warranty 3 years ago. Currently, problem has reappeared. Snice not under warranty, no free repair.doors do not close properly due to window hittingroof.roof was repaired under warranty also. This causedwindow to be out of alignment.
