Vehicle had a blown engine head gasket, and air bag sensor light remained on. Dealer / manufacturer were contacted.*ml

The major problem was the head gasket failure (after 100,000 miles) with the engine needing to be replaced. I was not notified at any time regarding this recall. Ford denies that this problem was a recall and that it was my fault that the engine went since i do not do all my repairs at the ford dealership and if i had, i would've been notified of the head gasket failure problem. Even though i was not notified by mail or by phone of this problem, ford told me that since the car went over 100,000 miles and was three monthe past the deadline date that i was out of luck and that there would be no extensions or exceptions. The biggest problem that i have is that i did not experience a head gasket failure during their so called warranty extension period and that my 1994 ford mustang only failed shortly after the warranty extension expired. A defective part is a defective part from the day of manufacture to the day the car is junked unless the part is repaired or replaced. So much time and money was put out by me because of ford's lack of customer service. I deserved to have been reimbursed by the ford motor corporation but in turn i received nothing. I could go on but this is very upsetting to me. Thank you for listening.

I am concerned about the electrical systems : ie the recall for the driver seat wiring harness and also has possible symptoms of recall on 1994 taurus, lincoln and mercury malfunction ing circuit breaker causing headlights to flash intermittenliy. Since i bought my car in oct. Of 98i have had problem with my radio picking up motor noises, if i turned on my brights then at some point all headlights would go off, and now, beginning 01/99 my headlights go on and off at random whether the car is moving or idling. I have not taken it to the mechanic due to the fact the $1500 extended warranty that they sold me does not cover electrical problems so now i turn to you for help to see if other owners have experienced the same problems. Thank you

Blown head gaskets and cracked aluminum heads. Found that replacing thermostat 15 degrees cooler ie(195 factory change to 108 degree) works much better. Also never use 50/50 or water with aluminum heads.

My 1994 ford mustang, purchased new and with only 39,000 miles at the time of failure, blew a head gasket. The car has the same 3.8l v6 as the windstar and taurus vehicles that i understand have been recalled for the exact same problem. Why no recall on the mustang? this has cost me $2000.00 since the vehicle is out of the 'extended' warranty ford offered to address this very problem. Please note that the vehicle failed at 39,000 miles, well within the 100,000 miles ford offered but outside the arbitrary 7 year limit.

The major problem is with the engine head gasket, ford had told me there is nothing they will do because it is over the 7 year limit.

My temperature gauge was erratic replaced the thermostat. Gauge still erratic was driving it to be repaired the motor locked up the head gasket is blownhad it towed to the ford dealership where i bought it. They told me i need a new motor

Car began hesitating...did not want to function properly. Took it to the mechanic, who said it was a head gasket problem. Seen hundreds of stories now about faulty head gaskets on 1994-1995 models with 3.8 liter v-6, yet ford was unhelpful in providing any information...claimed no such warrantees existed.

Blown head gasket, possibly cracked head. No warning lights indicated a problem. Temperaturte gauge never moved. Problem started out of the blue. Now 2 dealers can't decide if its a ford problem or not and who should pay.ford knew about this problem in 2000, why didn't they just fix it with a recall then.instead they decided to wait until peoples engines blow and say you foot the bill.i would love in on a lawsuit if there's one out there.this is outrageous!

The mount under the left side of the driver's seat has broken and is unable to be fixed with a bolt. This occured while driving down the roadway. When the driver of the vehicle makes a left turn, the seat leans to the right. This causes a safety hazard. The rear end of the car also makes a scrubbing sound when there are more than two people in the car. The sound is made when going over bumps and when accelerating slowly from a complete stop. I also had to pay for a cracked head gasket in late 2001. I was not aware of the recall on the head gaskets until the day my car was put in the shop. I contacted the dealer and was told my mileage was too high for the head gasket to be covered under the recall.

Dt: contact stated the driver's sideand passenger's side air bag deployed while driving down the highway. There was no prior warning. The vehicle has been towed to the dealer. The dealer stated all the sensors were in place. The dealer was offering no free remedy. The consumer stated the engine had been replaced.updated 12/07/05.

Vehicle overheated while driving. Had no prior warning. Contacted dealer, and dealerwas not willing to do anything.

This car is so unsafe i well no longer drive it ! this car has had theengine, rearend, ac, tranmission, convertable top rear window & alienment problaims, waer on tires front and back, two water pumps, two timing chains, fuil pump, whiper motor, fly wheel came off car. All failed after factury warrenty & extended ended. Most of these repairs where complained about when the car was under warrenty but was tould that nothing could be done about the problaims or they were normal for mustangs .have had to rebuld this car all at my cost and ford say's there was nothing wrong with the car from factery. Now i can not make the payments on the car because the repairs have been so high.( dot number: tire size: re92205/65 )

1994 3.8 liter head gaskets leaking .ford tells me recall is only good for 7 years or 100,000 miles. The car has only 74,000 miles on it.the car was first delivered in nov. 1993.a letter was sent to the orginal owner( i'am not orginal owner) on 4-27-2000. 6 years and 4 months after delivery. Ford now says 7 years has gone by and it does not matter that there is only 74,000 miles on the vehicle. Ford will not stand behind the repairs. I beleive they should stand behind the 100,000 mile recall, knowing that this has been an on going problem with this engine.

While traveling onhighway and without prior warning vehicle overheated and shutdown. Dealership was aware ofproblem.

Heard knocking noise and was told engine was about to blow and not to drive.had previously replaced water pump and timing cover.

Blown head gasket, excessive coolant loss and overheating problems

I have heard about blown head gaskets in ford windstars and some information about mustangs, i just wanted to file a complaint to get mustangs involved in the extended warranty also. I recently took my car into the dealership because theengine check light had come on and i was originally told that they would have to flush out my radiator.after that, i was told they would have to change my water pump.after they had replaced that i asked to see it and was told that they did not have it anymore.i was then called later and told that my head gaskets were blown and that would cost me an additional $1500 on top of the other $800 that i was being charged for.i began to do research on this and found that there are other people out there that are having the same problem that i am.my car is well taken care of and only has 50,000 miles on it.i'm complaining in hopes that ford will recognize this as a problem and reimburse me for fixing their problem.

At first occurrence the water pump gasket / timing cover gasket failed on original motor. Had that replaced put car in storage for the winter.midway through the 1998 summer head gasket went out and this time it let the anti-freeze into the engine and spun the bearings.i had the ford dealer install a reconditioned 3.8 (i had to pay for it). Car went in shortly after the engine replacment and had the water pump / timing gasket replaced. Car went into winter storage.this year, after driving for the summer, we noticed engine fluid leaking again! took back to ford dealer and we were told that again, the water pump / timing cover gaskets need replacing.cost this time $1056.00. There has to be some type of defect with the ford 3.8l motor regarding the engine cooling system. Please advise us on this. Thank you.

Engine over heated, never indicated over heating which caused loss of power and worped heads. Had coolant problem from the first time of purchase of car.a friend of mine gave me a letter from ford addressed to him acknowledging that the 1994 3.8lhad a head gasket problems that also list 4 types of systoms which my 5.0 mustang had from the first time purchased. When calling the ford motor co. They said this notice was not for the 5.0l. I do not agree with this it is to coincidental that the 5.0l liters are having the same systoms.

Car overheated; had to have radiator and water pump replaced; same thing happen; notified of engine gasket failure.

Recently my car started overheating without warning. I replaced the thermostat. It was good for two weeks then on a five minute drive down the street it overheated again. I took it to the dealership and was told the head gaskets were blown and it would cost me $1,600.00 i called ford customer service and was told that the recall had expired in may of 2001. I bought the car in nov. 2001 only has 85,000 miles on it. From where i sit this is an extended problem with this car and ford should take action to correct the problem up to 100,000 miles. It seems that 50,000 - 80,000 miles is when the problem begins with this car.

Engine failure.

Second complaint - a response would be appreciated, i have not been able to resolve this issue with ford and will attempt to file legal action. No safety defec t listed.

While drivingelectric fan shorted out, causing a fire. Please provide any further information.

While driving engine overheated, and then caught on fire. Had to be replaced. Dealer said that problem was cooling fan.please provide more information.

We have experienced numberous overheating problems with the mustang. We had a 75,000 waranty which ford honored. However, we have had major expenses runing into the thousands of dollars. We recently spent close to $ 1,000.00 on having the head gaskets replaced for the 2nd time.ford does not acknowledge a problem, and the dealer would not listen to me.i have worked on cars for years and know that when you have the radiator cap removed and you increase the the rpm of the engine you should not blow antifreeze all over.the engine was not damaged, to our knowledge, but we are very concerned that it will happen again.i will be contacting ford.

Car overheated.water pump had been replaced due to leak in july 2000.car overheated again 11/2/00.radiator checked, and showed minimal leak but was repaired on 11/3/00.temp remained normal that night after repair.the next morning, 11/4/00, car overheated.put water in overflow container.continued to overheat.returned car home at which time white smoke and water was blowing out the tailpipe.upon inspection, head gasket on driver's side was blown.will check the head tomorrow to find out if it has been damaged.

My temperature gauge was erratic replaced the thermostat. Gauge still erratic was driving it to be repaired the motor locked up the head gasket is blownhad it towed to the ford dealership where i bought it. They told me i need a new motor

Car overheated; had to have radiator and water pump replaced; same thing happen; notified of engine gasket failure.

Head gasket failure also caused multi-oxygen sensor failure.ford is aware of the head-gasket problems on the 3.8 liter engine, but has not issued a recall.

Vehicle seems to be running hot. Thermostat needle went up vey high, all the way tored.unable to drive vehicle.consumer had it towed to dealer who found out that an engine head gasket blew out.

Without warning there was a leak of antifreeze coolant, and it would idle between gears. Also, engine would stall.mechanic stated because of mileage warranty will not cover services.

I blew a headgasket and i hear this a very common problem with the 3.8liter engine in the 1994 ford mustangs.

Engine oil pump shaft failed.*skd

My vehicle's engine ran hot without warning during a roadtrip from atlanta to savannah, georgia.my vehicle was towed to j.c.lewis ford and diagnosed as having engine problems (e.g. Head gasket problems). Upon returning from my trip, i received a letter from ford motor co. Informing me that a warranty was extended on all 1994 and 1995 mustang ford head gaskets as a result of a manufacturer's defect in the engine head gasket. This warranty was extended to all vehicles less than 7 years old and to all that have less than 100,000 miles.my problem with this warranty lies in the fact that my vehicle has passed the mileage limitation, although it has been very well maintained.i am curious about how a consumer could win in this situation, if the vehicle was created with a engine defect that was not published until almost six years after the vehicle was manufactured. Under these circumstances, it really does not matter that i change my oil every 3,000 miles religously, because i was seemingly sold a defected car that the manufacturer will not honor as a recall. I have been driving this car thousands of miles unaware of its defects. If i had been informed of the defect earlier, i would have promptly taken my car to the dealership before it reached 100,000 miles. It is my sincere belief that the damage to my car could have been avoided had the manufacturer disseminated proper notification in a timely manner. I must admit that i have enjoyed the use of my car until this unexpected breakdown. Therefore, i am requesting that ford motor company include my vehicle under its extended warranty based on the good faith that i relied on when purchasing this vehicle.

While traveling from florida to wisconsin the car overheatedon the highway in northernalabama.i pulled off highway and had to have the car towed to a garage for repair . The mechanic informedme that the head gaskets had blown and neededto be replaced. The mechanic contacted the ford dealership in cullman al. They refused to take responsibility for theproblem. I had the car repaired at a cost of $950.00 . I have seen in your web page that other people have had similar problems with there mustangs of the same year and similar mileage. This problem is not an isolated incident and should be addresed by ford. I feel ford should take the responsibility and pay for the repairs and other inconviences i encured.

Vehicle was overheating due to engine head gasket blowing out. Consumer tookvehicle to the dealer, and the dealer noticed engine head gasket blowout. Vehicle is currently waiting to be repaired.

Head gasket blewout, causing damage to enigne. Dealer will not cover head gasket because its warranty expired. Please provide further information.

Was driving vehicle & heard small knock which turned into loud knock. Engine head gasket had failed. Was repaired last year. Engine locked updue tofaulty gaskets 2 weeks later. Drove to dealership & was informed engine was not repairable.

Head gasket blew out while driving about 45mph, car started smoking.

Engine failure due to head gasket and front engine gasket failure.

The dealer diagnosed problem as head gasket.this is a 3.8 engine and others have beened recalledaby ford. Ford should address this problem in all 3.8 engines. It should not have gone out at 80000.

Head gasket blown in april 2000, now aug 2001, i needwhole new engine at only 85,000.this is not right, and the head gasket and engine failure are related.if head gaskets were recalled, and if they are connected, why isn't there anything that can be done about this related failure? or is there? ford of kirkland who fixed my head gaskets only gaurentee's thier work for 12months/12,000miles.

3.0 ford mustang blew head gasket (manufacturing defect).ford refuses to be responsible if the vehicle is over 100,000 miles.repair costs exceed $1,000.00.

I had a manufacturing defect in the design of the engine and headgaskets which required full replacement at 75,000 miles. The cost to me was $2500. This was due to an engineering defect by ford motor company of which they are well aware. Ford should beforced to recall these vehicles and fix them at company expense. I took very good care of the car and would never have purchased it if i had known the engine life was only 75000 miles to the design. *la

Head gasket went out with no warning.engine quit then warning lights came on.a little too late!

Head gasket failure, causing large amounts of white smoke to come out the exaust.

The vehicle has less than 70,000 miles with a 3.8 liter engine, and the engine has an blown head gasket which causesengine to overheat.manufacturer is providing additional warranty coverage for the windstar andthe taurus manufactured in 1994 and 1995 . Please provide any further information.

My temperature gauge was erratic replaced the thermostat. Gauge still erratic was driving it to be repaired the motor locked up the head gasket is blownhad it towed to the ford dealership where i bought it. They told me i need a new motor

Head gasket blew fusing something else and requiring an engine replacement.

Blown head gaskets had to be replaced . Cost $1481.47 to repair. Ford will not reimburse. They say warranty has been extended on front wheel drive cars only. They said there were not enough complaints filed on mustangs even though they all have the same engines!

While driving head gasket blewout.this was second time that head gasket has blownout. Cause unknown please provide any further information.

Head gasket blewout, engine replcd, trans. Replcd 4x problem still there, rear defrost wire caught on fire,a/c on&off, seat gear does not work, horn does not work, air flow sensor replaced after 5,000 miles,

I knew about head gasket failures with the ford 3.8l engines.as my car is 7.4 years old i was told it would not be covered under the extended warranty.this engine is a lemon.

Why is ford paying for repairs on other 3.8 ltr vehicles that have blown head gaskets?

Engine problem - timing cover gasket developed a leak and was replaced at 49753 miles. Head gasket failed later at 58422 miles on 12/15/02 while driving. (i previously reported the head gasket failure occurred on 12/30/02, but this was actually the date on the repair bill, not the date the failure occurred).*nlm

I carried my car to a mechanic for another problem and was told that the engine in my car was known for having problems with blown head gaskets.at this time i brought the car home and contacted my local ford dealer and was told that there was nothing they could do.i then contacted ford motor company and was told that the problem was not a recall but a warranty issue.this is a known problem to ford and i feel that any known problem of this nature should be a recall and not a warranty issue.i also feel that ford motor company does not stand behind their products.i don't think i can ever buy another ford due to the way i have been treated by ford.i have had the problem confirmed and i do have blown head gaskets.i feel that even though my car is over 7 years old but still under the 100k miles that ford should do something to help solve this problem.thank goodness i still had my previous vehicle, not a ford, that is a 1989 model or i would have had to immediately replaced the engine or bought another car.

Blown head gasket at 50,000 miles, causing $2,000 repair. Ford knows that this is a deffective part and refuses to fix at no charge. Has the same engine as windstar and taurus which they are fixing but will not fix this same engine in the mustang.

Blowen head gasket; consumer was driving and there was alot of smoke that was coming fromvehicle. Contacted dealer, and dealer was not willing to do anything.*yd

Head gasket failure due to the use of aluminum heads connected to a cast iron block. The different expansion rates of the two metals causes stress on the gasket, resulting in failure.

The cylinder head gasket went out.

After i paid over $1200 to fix a blown engine head gasket, i called the ford company via 1-800-392-3673 to inquire if there was ever a recall for that problem.a representative said this type recall had been in affect over the last few years. Shhhhhh!i gave the rep my car's vin number and was told i had been notified through the mail. The address that pertained to me was different then my own. Hmmmmmmmm!how can that be?i've been living at my address for more then 18 years. I bought my mustang in 1994 via my current address.i have asked others who own fords if they had been notified and they've all said no.i received a recall letter for some minor fix'es, but not for something as expensive or serious like the replacement of and engine head gasket. If i received a recall letter for the minor stuff, i should have received a recall letter for the major item as well. This is not fair nor ethical. I've been meticulous in caring for my car via my investment in it over the years. I'm concerned now that there is something else that is going to unfold.

Vehicle began smoking and engine froze up.had vehicle towed to dealer.head gaskets blew; engine failed. Need to replace engine.no advance warning.

During my research, i have found this is a common problem among taurus, mustang and windstar owners.though, currently, ford has only elected to cover everything but the mustang.this is something i will pursue to get my money back since it appears ford is at fault here.as of yet, they have not been helpful.

I own a 1994 mustang.on march 3, 2000the head gasket on the 3.8l engine blew, causing the engine to overheat severely.the car only has 90,000 miles on it.this unfortunately happened on i-75 in ohio, 200 miles away from home.i was forced to have the car towed, and was stranded for the night.i found a mechanic in ohio to work on it.the engine and radiator were damaged beyond repair, and were replaced.the cost of this was nearly $4,500, not counting four hundred dollars that i spent on a rental vehicle while it was repaired.my mechanic and i both contacted ford dealers and were told that there was no form of warranty campaign on this engine.i recently read that ford has issued a "warranty extension program" on this engine for exactly this problem.however, this only covers their front wheel drive vehicles (taurus, sable, continental, and windstar).what i do not understand is why would this only cover these vehicles and not the mustang.it is the exact same engine.i have registered a complaint with ford customer assistance.their explanation was that the rear wheel drives (mustang) have a different cooling system.my response is, "so what?".if the head gasket goes, it doesn't matter what kind of cooling system is in the car.that is a ludicrous answer.and in discussing this with other repair centers, mine is not an isolated problem.what really infuriates me is that ford is trying to take care of all their fleet customers (taurus and sable both are popular fleet vehicles) and obviously do not give a [xxx] about their individual customers.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Consumer has v-6 3. 8 liter a rear wheel drive vehicle. Engine head gasket blew out, water was coming out of exhaust system, and mixed withanti-freeze and oil. Comsumer stated that the exhaust system was blowing out white smoke, and couldn't drive vehicle. *ml

There is a pattern of head gasket failure with the 3.8l engine, whiich has nothing to do with my driving habbits (over 100,000 miles). Ford should stand 100% behind their product for 100% of their customers, not set an irrelevant warranty extention. The amount of miles on my car did not create the pattern of head gasket failure in all fords with the 3.8l engine. Ford should stand up and take responsibility, by refunding repair costs to everyone involved.

Heard knocking noise and was told engine was about to blow and not to drive.had previously replaced water pump and timing cover.

My car actually failed for blown head gaskets (a pending recall) for which i never received a recall notice, when the car was brought to a ford dealership for repair we were told that the timing cover gasket also had to be replaced and were told that almost all of the head gasket recalls also seem to need this timing cover gasket, it is not covered under the initial recall.please research, by checking all recall vin # and repair records, to see if this is not a defect that is in fact caused by the recalled head gasket defect and therefore should not be something that the consumer should pay for! thank you in advance for your time and cooperation.

My engine has been running hot since 1998.i've had it in numerous times and have been told different things each time.the head gasket finally blew in july, 2000.ford is refusing to cover the repair costs even though i've had it in before for the overheating problem.since ford has been aware of the head gasket problem, they should stand behind the recall even if the vehicle is over 100,000 miles.i need help.

On may of 2000, i received a letter from ford motor company stating there could be a potential engine head gasket failure. Upon receiving this letter may 11, 2000 i contacted the ford motor co. And asked them if i could bring the vehicle into the dealership and have it checked out to see if there was any problem with my vehicle. The request was denied. I was told the problem had to actually happen before it could be detected. We have had the car a year and a half and now the problem has occured. My son who was driving the vehicle at the time was placed in a dangerous situation as the car vibrated and died in the middle of the road.an orange liquid leaked out of the tail pipe and white smoke also poored out of the pipe. He managed to push the car to the side of the road. We had it towed to a mechanic i have know for quite sometime, he informed me it was definate head gasket problems. I contacted ford motor co, they were extremely rude and told me the problem could not be handled with them because it was past the warranty of 7 years or 100,000 miles. The car has 85,000 miles and i have only had it for a year and a half. My complaint is why should i have to suffer for their negligence. I was not told when i purchased the vehicle that there was any sort of problem that might occur because of a possible defective part. I would appreciate if you would look into this matter asap. When i was on-line i found numerous mustang owners that are in the same situation as me. I feel something should be done to make this company pay for their mistake, especially a mistake that could be fatal. Thank you, [xxx] [xxx].parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Head gasket failure lead to blown engine at only 57,000 miles. 7 yr 100,000 miles warranty ran out in april 2001. This engine failurte occurred in august, 2001. Ford agreed to pay for only part of the repairs leaving me responsible for $500 (totall at end $800) in repairs. I feel the life of a ford should be longer that 57,000 ( purchased car at 24,000 mls). If i had known 5 yrs ago that i could only expect to get another 33,000 mls from the car i certainly would not have pd $14,000. I have kept good care of this car and kept the milage low......as a result engine failure did not occur "in time" to meet end of warranty.

Consumer stated the vehicle had a cracked head gasket. *jg

Defective engine head gasket caused engine to overheat and thick white smoke came out of the tail pipe. Ford issued service programwarranty 00m10 on 1994 and 1995 ford mustang/thunderbird and thunderbird super coupe equipped with 3.8l engine that had defective engine head gaskets. These vehicles would be repaired free of charge under this warranty. *nlm

The water pump was leaking which was replaced as well as the timing cover gasket which was also replaced, consumer states he would occasionally hear a knocking noise, vehicle was taking into a mechanic and consumer was informed that the engine was about to blow and to not drive the vehicle.consumer has been informed that the head gasket needs to be replaced and probably the engine.

I have repaired my 1994 ford mustang several times, for different failures.this last episode with my head gasket was the straw that broke the camels back.i was forced to pay for repairs of the head gasket, because my mileage was 138,000.i contacted ford, and was told there was a cut-off of the warranty at 100,000 miles for this known defect of the head gasket.they took my complaint for thier records and said sorry you are not within the mileage for the warranty.

I had a problem with my car overheating. I took it in to my regular shop to find out what was causing the overheating. They tested the radiator and ran the car, and it did not overheat again. The pressure in the radiator was good. They replaced the thermostat, thinking that it must have been sticking. Two weeks later, i drove my car for a 5 minute drive and when i reached the destination, it was overheating. I took it in to the shop again and this time they said the head gaskets that were going bad and were causing the problem. My question to you is, have there been other reports of this problem with the 3.8 v6? the shop told me they had done similar work on this engine, and they think it is a problem with the engine, originating with when it is manufactured. My car has 46,000 miles on it and i have owned it for less than a year. I researched the car prior to buying it. I am unhappy about this situation with my car and wonder if i may want to sell it, because of the engine problem. I just spent $900 for the new thermostat and head gaskets, not to mention the nearly two weeks i have spent without a car. Please let me know if this is something that will be recalled. Thanks.

I had to replace a leaking gasket at @ 60000 miles. I did call ford but was told that the warranty had expired. Since the head gasket seems to be a common problem with ford mustangs, i believe i should be reimbursed for the cost--around $1000--for replacement.

I have heard about the blown head gaskets on the windstars/taurus with the same type engine the 3.8.would like someone to check into why the ford mustang wasn't included in the recall along with the windstar, taurus??i have had an overheating problem, car leaking water, heater not working properly, and had a mechanic look at it and told me it was a blown head gasket.and told me about the recall with the other two ford models, check to see if mustang included. I called and it wasn't ,,, why not??? this really confuses me as to why mustangs were not included in the recall, if same motor, same problem, why not recalled? please follow up with me by mail or phone and explain to me why?

Passenger side head gasket blew at 97,000, dealer replaced passenger side head gasket under warranty, at 102,000 miles vehicle's driver side head gasekt is leaking, dealer would not repair under warranty, consumer feels manufacturer should have recall.

Head gasket blew out twice.

Loss of coolant/engine overheating-2nd occurrence was jan 1997 found out cylinder heads were cracked from first incident, had to replace cylinder heads 2nd time @ 58,000 miles.

While traveling onhighwayvehicle startedto overheat. Vehicle was smoking.dealership was aware of problem.

Head gasket blew out and car stalled on an accident prone highway. V-114.

Head gasket blew. Dealership said recall for the part was expired.i had another recall fixed on the car approximately two months before the recall for the head gasket expired and asked the dealership if there were any outstanding service builletins/recalls on the car, dealership said no. I wonder if the dealership are intentionally misguiding customers, until the recall for this problem has expired, so that they will not have to pay for the costly repairs. Instead the consumer will be left to foot the bill.please make ford issue a formal recall for this problem.

While in motion vehicle overheateddue to a head gasket failure.dealership did inform owner that ford had some sort of service to repair mustang for head gasket failure.please describe details.

Had knocking that eventually got worse and the gasket blew in #4 cylinder, and coolant in two others.the two others were going to blow soon.

A blown engine head gasket caused overheating in the vehicle and oil leakingointo the radiator. Dealer replaced the engine head gasket.

When ifirst received the car it wasnt even a month and the first headgasket blew, nextit happened one year to the date as soon as cold weather came around. Then the 3rd happened a year following that date (coming again into cold weather. ) now i'm into estimates reaching up to over $2000 in repair and machined head work.finally, i am at my 4th!!! now i am into an additonal head gasketrepair.this is very aggravatting because i love mustangs. Please contact if any information you have will help me.

This is the 3rd head gasket failure in this vehicle.

Timing cover gasket failed resulting in total engine failure.nlm

The ford 3.8l motor has a defective head gasket which ford is aware off, and has extended a warranty for this part to 7 years or 100000 miles but if the car is outside those guidlines or if the cae is checked by a dealer and is ok when checked the co. Will not fix the defective part.when this occurred on my car it stalled almost causing an accident .

There is a recall on 3.8 liter ford engines, but the mustang is not included. It is the same engine, therefore should be included in the recall. I had to getrepairs of over 1,000.00 to the head gasket which seems to be the problem that alot of ford owners at dealing with . The mustang should be included in the recall.

Engine head gasket failure. Ford has know about this problem for awhile in this engine size.

Car overheated; had to have radiator and water pump replaced; same thing happen; notified of engine gasket failure.

Ford motor company has admited to faulty 3.8l engines in other models of its product line except for mustangs.the dealer where this was purchased has already put in an engine shortly afetr i bought this with 70,00 original miles on it. The current engine has 50,000 miles on it and it blew a head gasket.now he is playing the game of ford says this and ford says that.enough. Can you get ford motor company to own up to this mustang owners problem? i am not alone as there are thousands of us out here with the same problem. Thanks for your concern.

Engine head gasket is leaking which causesvehicle to overheat.dealer is aware of the problem.engine head gasket is being replaced by dealership. Please provide any further information.

Head gasket failure on 1994 ford mustang 3.8l with 50,360 miles. Although ford stated that they mailed a letter regarding other complaints of this failure, i never received it nor was i notified by the dealer when the vehicle was in for recall work. Ford now states that the program expired on my vehicle and i have no recourse other than to have it fixed on my own.*la

The service center where my vehicle is being serviced said that the blown head is a very common problem in the 3.8l engine.they said they feel this is caused because the heads are aluminum and the block is cast iorn.

I was having a overheating problem and lacking alot of power.i took my vehicle to the dealer,$1300.00 to replace the head gaskets.the dealer stated this is a common problem with the 3.8 engines.my vehicle only has 37,000 miles on it and i take excellent care of my mustang.i am a proud mustang owner and have owned several mustangs and never have had any complaints.ford needs to either recall this or take steps to make sure this does not occur in future vehicles.thanks, lisa

Head gasket failure

Engine head gaskets were leaking oil. Took to dealer & the mechanic checked the pistons for cracks. None was found. Would be repairing the head gaskets & vehicle not under recall.

Head gasket blew on passenger side.driver side nearly blown after removing the heads.this happened at 72,000 miles.the same thing happened to me on a 1988 t-bird with 110,000 miles, which also had a 3.8l v6.this also happened to me on a 1994 thunderbird with the 3.8v6 with 100,000 miles.i will never buy another ford.

The head gasket on my car has failed twice and ruined the engine once.ford knows about the problem but will not reimburse me for the money i have paid for repairs.my car does not fall under their warranty dates.the head gasket problem is well known.forn needs to replace the heads or engines on all vehicles equipped with this type of engine.the problem is due to the diddimilar metal used in the engine and the head.they heat and cool at different rates, thereby stressing the gasket.when the gasket goes the engine oil is diluted by coolant, thereby ruining the engine.

The serpentine belt on vehicle was slipping due to a cracked pulley.two (2) major problelms were caused by the cracked pulley which were power loss and speed to gear ration was off.these problems were corrected with installation of new pulley.*jg

Blown head gasket, excessive coolant loss and overheating problems

Apparant head gasket failure at only 74,000 miles.after reading other complaints, i realize that this is a common problem.vehicle is past extended warranty in time, but not in milage.i am currently waiting for the dealership to give an estimate on the damage.i have contacted ford and am waiting to hear from them.we did recieve a letter regarding this problem in may of 2000, but because it was not a recall, we could not have it fixed unless it malfunctioned.i have been a loyal ford customer, however a problem like this certainly upsets even the most loyal customer.i hope that ford will realize that this problem should not be limited to years or mileage because it is an engineering problem.thank you.

Vehicle had a blown engine head gasket, and air bag sensor light remained on. Dealer / manufacturer were contacted.*ml

Ordered vehicle in 1994, had it 2 days when a rattling started from underneath, was an untightened bolt.in summer/1995, a/c didn't work.in spring/1996, transmission was vibrating on inclines at 25 to 30 mph.in spring/summer 1997, transmission was causing tactometer to race to 3000rpm when only going 25 mph.in winter of 2000, vehicle overheated, replaced thermostat twice.after overheating 3 times, and finally having to be towed, it was the head gasket causing pressure to build within the cooling system forcing coolent out of the overflow reserve. Mechanic saw this only happen in 3 other vehicles.

Passenger side head gasket blew at 97,000, dealer replaced passenger side head gasket under warranty, at 102,000 miles vehicle's driver side head gasekt is leaking, dealer would not repair under warranty, consumer feels manufacturer should have recall.

While operating at about 25 to 30 mph vehicle became erratic, and cool air started to blowout ofheating system.head gasket blewout. There was a recall on head gasket, anddealer was contacted. Please add any further information or make changes.

The head gasket failed, while driving.

Timing cover gasket failed.

This promblem iss amajor promblem in mustangs in 1994-95 same engine as the windstar and lincoln they werre recalled feel that the mustang should be to.my car was very well taken care of changee the oil every three thousand miles at valvoline got the records i feel ford should cover the repairstheres to many reports of bad head gaskets in this model it has to be default with this many miles on it. A lot of the windstarss head gaskets wwent out around 40000 thoussand miles to so it must be the engineeee. How can they recalla couple other cccars and not the musstang its the same engine and problem . They should cover it. Im thinking about taken them to small claims court if you can help me or give me aa list of all the people who got the same problem that would be great if you couls eemail about thisthank you greg elfering

I had this car for less than 4 weeks and the head gaskets blew which caused coolant to enter the engine.i am having to have the engine replaced.i contacted ford and got no where with them.they told me that the 7 year window on my car exired a few months prior to the incident.i think that ford should honor its moto of customer satisfaction.

I am going to replace the engine in my car for the second time-due to problems with the head gaskets and aluminum heads and block.

Timing cover gasket failed resulting in total engine failure.nlm

Blown head gasket, possibly cracked head. No warning lights indicated a problem. Temperaturte gauge never moved. Problem started out of the blue. Now 2 dealers can't decide if its a ford problem or not and who should pay.ford knew about this problem in 2000, why didn't they just fix it with a recall then.instead they decided to wait until peoples engines blow and say you foot the bill.i would love in on a lawsuit if there's one out there.this is outrageous!

I contacted me ford dealer regarding concerns that i was experiencing head gasket problems during the time period for the extended warranty on this problem. I was told i did not have a gasket problem and that the warranty did not cover having the problem diagnosed. Shortly after the extended warranty expired i had to have the head gaskets replaced. Ford is refusing to honor a claim on their extended warranty despite the fact their dealer indicated the head gasket was not a problem.

Faulty gasket caused total engine failure due to coolant leakage...total loss...have seen many other complaints - ford should recall...and engine should last beyond 50000 miles....poor quality should be compensated.

Enginehead gaskets have blown, causing coolant to leak onto the engine. Dealer has repaired vehicle.

While driving could see a big cloud of smoke coming fromengine.had taken vehicle to dealer, and they said what had happened washead gasket failure.please provide more information.

Engine head gasket is leakingfrom underneath.it is damaging the engine block . Engine needs to be completely replaced.

While traveling engine check light came on ,andvehicle commenced to run rough.vehicle taken to an independent repair shop, and informed consumer of a blownout head gasket. Dealer / manufacturerwere notified. Feel free to provide any further information.

Head gasket failure/e-mail me [email protected]. We need class action law suit. Car went to hot pulled in pep boys/test showed head gasket failure/was told to go to ford there was a recall/ford said to-bad it ended on 7/14/01 and today is 8/16/01...sorry--this was ford motor company customer service in detroit, michigan.

I have seen that there are other 3.8l engines made by ford with this same problem. To go along with the cost of the gasket i also have to pay for a rental car for the time it takes for my repairs to be done.

Ford motor company has a serious problem with head gaskets in their vehicles which have a 3.9l, v-6 engine.recently ford issued a press release stating that they were extending the warranty for several cars that have the 3.8l v-6 engine.the mustang model was not included.if you visit the web site www.thecomplaintstation.com you will see several hundred complaints posted regarding blown headgaskets in ford mustangs equipped with a 3.8l, v-6 engine.to date, ford has done nothing to rectify this colossal problem.i am searching for a class action lawsuit to become involved in against ford.so far, i have not found one in progress.please investigate this problem.thank you for your time!!

For over several months consumer was experiencing problems with the cooling system, there would be a coolant leak with no visible leakage, an odor of antifreeze around the vehicle, erratic loss of heat in the passenger compartment and fluctuating engine temperature, after several attempts to remedy the problem at the dealer and being told that the problem was not the head gasket, consumer took the vehicle to an independent mechanic and was informed that both head gaskets were leaking, consumer is requesting reimbursement from the manufacturer because the head gasket began leaking at the time the vehicle was still under warranty.

Head gasket failure. *nlm

On november 4 my 1994 ford mustang stopped running. I had it towed to a trusted family mechanic, and it was discovered that the head gaskets had blown. As of today 11/14/2002 my car is still in the shop being worked on, and so far the bill is at $1050 and growing. My mechanic was very surprised and shocked when he discovered it was head gaskets, because i have a little less than 50,000 miles on my car. ****dims 11 ivoq entry posted after 12/12/02 cut-over to artemis****769756.

Head gasket failed due to the use of aluminum head with cast iron block (material).

The metal sealing ring, within the head gasket, that is to form a high pressure seal between the cylinder block and head is not concentric to the cylinder. This defect occurred with both(2) head gaskets(same cylinder location). This is the same problem that occured with the '95-'96 3.8l transverse engines (ford issued a tsb for a '96 winstar i own).)

Engine overheating/shaking, and lots of smoke coming from tail pipe. Afterward, engine would stall. Vehiclewas towed to dealer, technician stated that head gasket blewnout.vehicle was repaired, cost to customer $1300 since then, vehicle overheated twice. Dealer replaced head gasket, cost $400. Please provide further information.

My mustang hadhead gaskets replaced in may 2000. 3 months later the engine needed to be replaced in october 2000. I was told that the engine was recalled but wasn't informed of that until the engine failed. I was also told by the dealer that because it wasn't a safety recall they weren't required to inform the owners of the cars.

3.8l v6 engine experienced overheating/ white smoke and loss of coolant. Vehicle towed to an independent repair shop, and informed of a blown head gasket. Dealer / manufacturer were also contacted.please feel free to provide any further details on this matter .

Thank you.

Apparently this head gasket problem with ford's 3.8 is pretty common, as there are many of us with the same situation. Any reasearch into this situation would be great appreciated.

While driving 65 mph on highwayhead gaskets blewout, causingconsumer to almost lose control ofvehicle.consumer contacteddealer, whostated that nothing could be done.

Both enginehead gaskets blew out, causing other related damage. Head gaskets have since been redesigned by ford to improve performance, but no recalls.owner wants reimbursement for repairs.

Consumer received manufacturer's recall regarding head gaskets, but didn't have the work done until vehicle started emitting heavy smoke a few months later, dealer indicated that since the form wasn't returned to the dealership, the recall wasn't reimbursable.

Vehicle started to overheat. When taken vehicle to dealer, dealer noted that vehicle had a cracked head gasket. This vehiclewas part ofa tsb that wasissued by manufacturer. Head gasket out? warranty recall?

Our vehicle has just started over heating without any kind of warning, the front driver seat electric switch to move seat forward and back will not move the seat, and the rear suspension is niosey, upon backing up and slight dips in road or more that 2 passengers in vehicle at a time

We received a letter from the ford company in dearborn, michigan about the head gasket problem, a few months ago.at the time we had no problems.but now the head gaskets have blown but ford will not fix it because we are 2000 miles over the extended warraranty.it seems to me that if they knew they had a head gasket problem they should have recalled them and fixed them. Now we are stuck with getting the car fixed because ford used shoddy parts.we still owe 17 more months of payments and i am not very happy to say the least.

While driving vehicle at 65 mph it overheated. There was no water invehicle. Vehicle had just come out of repair. Consumer tookvehicle back to dealer, andwas told thatengine was completely gone. Please provide any further information, and vehicle identification number.

Can ford do anything right car has broken down more than i can remember!

Engine has been perfectly maintained for its entire life.i understand ford is aware of the problem and is doing nothing for the owners of mustangs.

Many other mustang owners have had this problem.ford recently ruled on other vehicles with similar engines to fix this similar problem.i don't really understand why my vehicle, which has the same engine, having similar problems amongst many owners is not covered by ford's extended warranty.

Engine stalls in hot weather.

Without warning there was a leak of antifreeze coolant, and it would idle between gears. Also, engine would stall.mechanic stated because of mileage warranty will not cover services.

Heard slight knocking noise, checked gauges and all were ok, knocking noise got louder, i pulled to the side of the road (was on a mountain so altitude was high) and car started smoking.

Took to wade ford said motor shot. Towed to jerry's automotive and he repaired it. Did not know there was a recall till i took back to klaben this month.

This is my 19 year-old daughter's mustang.we have been having trouble with the car running hot for several months.we've taken the car to several auto repairs and nobody could find a reason for the car running hot.we took the mustang to precision tune in macon back in june or july.after that my daughter was stranded with the car in dublin, georgia.she took the car to the ford dealership in dublin and they kept it over-night.the next day they called to tell her that they could not find anything wrong with the car.on september 10, 2001, she is once again stranded in statesboro, georgia.we had the car towed to rozier ford in statesboro, ga.they said that the car had a cracked head gasket and that it would cost about $1,300 to repair...since we had missed the 100,000 mile owner notofication recall on this problem.i explained to them that we had been having problems with this car for quite some time and nobody had informed us about a recall, not to mention that we were never notified as the owners of the vehicle.we have not moved in 14 years and we didn't receive any notification.i feel that ford should take responsibility for this problem, but of course they won't.i feel that if they knew the problem existed with these engines, they should be forced to comply with the recall regardless of the mileage.i would like to know what other action could be taken against ford regarding this matter.i have a copy of my invoice dated 9/26/01 in the amount of $1,303.26 and feel that i am entitled to be compensated for their faulty engine.

Head gasket went out with no warning.engine quit then warning lights came on.a little too late!

I need a new enginereplaced free of charge.

While driving onfreeway at a high speed theengine cuts off and cuts back on automatically without the ignition being turned off and on. Usually when temperature is hot. Dealer duplicated the problem.

I have had to put lots of money into this car since ibought it and it never runs right . No safety defect mentioned in summary.

I am aware that the engine used in my 3.8l 1994 mustang is nearly identical to the engines of taurus, and windstar, with the biggest difference being rear wheel drive vs. Front wheel drive.however, there is a recall surrounding the taurus and windstar 3.8l v-6 engine regarding blown head gaskets.my head gasket just blew on my 3.8l mustang and i feel that the same defect or recall should apply to all to 3.8l mustangs as well.

Ford had a defect program but only for 7years or 100,000 miles.will not do a thing since it is after 7 years.us cas told for to cover for 120000 which is useful life.this is a defect on the vehicle and we bare the brunt because we put on low mileage.this defect is a function of mileage not age. No safety defect listed.

I asked the local ford dealer about it and got no where with my questions.i replaced the entire exhaust system from the end of the h-pipe all the way to the back with an aftermarket system.there was no visible damage to either muffler or the pipes anywhere.

Air conditioning system experienced total failure. Mechanic said system is leaking from every conceivable place and replacement of the system was necessary for repair and the cost would be $2000.the mechanic recommended registering a complaint with ford because this type of problem is ridiculous in a 4 year old car. While driving on highway at 65vehicle would stall and shut completely down without any warning. After about 30 or longer it will start back up again.took to mechanic, and they put in a fuel filter, and did a compression check. Everything looked good, but problem with stallingwas still there.

I was driving my 1994 ford mustang gt, with 5.0 v8 engine, on interstate 64 in richmond va. I was in 5th gear driving at approximately 65 mph when the engine suddenly stopped operating. I downshifted the car into 4th gear hoping to restart the engine. The engine did not restart after i released the clutch. I immediately started to pull off to the side of the road when i saw orange flames shooting out from underneath the hood. I stopped the car and retrieved my fire extinguisher from the trunk. I was able to put out 95% of the flames and the henrico county fire dept arrived and put out the remaining fire. Va state police showed up shortly thereafter.the rubber fuel line that connects from the firewall to the intake manifold split in the middle causing gasoline to spill onto the engine. The gasoline caught fire and it caused over $7,000 in damage to my vehicle.the vehicle is currently being rebuilt and the defective fuel lines will be replaced with custom made rubber fuel lines as ford no longer makes these fuel lines.

Fuel-tank filler-pipe gasket has apparently failed.problem has gradually worsened over time.can not pump more than a few gallons into tank or fuel leaks out rapidly; fumes even enter car.investigated problem and discovered failed gasket, which seems an odd design choice in place of simple welded pipe stem, given inevitable vibration of components.

My transmission went out i took it in to have it looked at it was still under warrenty they rebuilt it, and at that time i had the dealer look at the fuse problem they said it was some wire near the seat track soo they replaced it.it worked for a little while well the warranty is no longer valid and the fuse continues to blow i have to put a new fuse in every time i need to move the seat i only get one shot at it for it will blow in a few seconds i have'nt taken it back.

I have experienced two separate problems with my ford mustang gt.both problems have been "repaired" while the vehilce was under warranty, however, i feel that the actions taken were only sufficient to carry the vehicle through the warranty period.the largest problem that i have experienced has been with my antilock brakes.on six different occasions i have had my vehicle in the shop at ford dealers for repairs to my antilock brakes.the typical prognosis was that a sensor needed to be changed.ironically, once the vehcile was out of warranty, due to age, the antilock brake failure required a new module costing approximately $1,200.i pleaded my case with ford on this expense and they agreed to pick up the cost of the repair.no later than 4 months had passed and the problems continued.i procrastinated some four to five months prior to having the vehicle returned to the same dealership for repairs to the antilock brakes.this time the problem was different and would cost $1,100.again i pleaded

Blown head gaskets and cracked aluminum heads. Found that replacing thermostat 15 degrees cooler ie(195 factory change to 108 degree) works much better. Also never use 50/50 or water with aluminum heads.

Like everyone else i am having severe problems with transmission slipping.also with the transmission getting stuck in neutral.due to this problem and many others and fords unwillingness to fess up to their mistakes they have lost business from me and my family for life.

Torque converter failed, resulting in vibration.also, transmission fluid leak.

The car will downshift and the rpm will increase to 3500-4000 while driving on the freeway.this problem occurs at random, at various speeds, and frequently.i took to transmission shop and they said the transmission checked out ok.i have read many simular complaints of this same problem on this site.why hasn't action been taken to get to the bottom of this before someone gets hurt?dt

Since original purchase, automatic transmission has been having problems.dealer couldn't find problem.once problem was found warranty expired.

Can ford do anything right car has broken down more than i can remember!

While driving, the vehicle slows down when shifting. Dealer can't find the problem. Consumer states that there is an unexpected loss of speed due to the transmission shift delay in shifting, this has almost caused a collision.

Vehicle started trembling when shifting from 3rd to 4th gear at approximately 30-40 mph.torque converter in the automatic transmission has a problem.problem is worst and the transmission engages into reverse when starting from a stop.

The service center where my vehicle is being serviced said that the blown head is a very common problem in the 3.8l engine.they said they feel this is caused because the heads are aluminum and the block is cast iorn.

Was driving onfreeway whentransmission kept slipping while shifting into gear. Vehicle started to slowdown. Kept applying gas. Took to dealership & mechanic indicated transmission needed to be replaced due to slippage.

The automatic transmission will appear to slip out of over-drvie into neutral at higher speeds. When this occurs the engine rpm will increase by approximately 3000 rpm. Also at slower speeds the shift between 1st & 2nd has been so hard that it feels as if you have been hit in the rear. The slow speed problem has occurredonly 2 times. The high speed problem occurs quite regularly.

I have had this transmission rebuilt by ford 2 times so far and this same problen keeps occurring, andit shudders on acceleration and while overdrive is engaged it will upshift and down shift in between 3 and 4 gear does really not matter what speed you are traveling for this to happen ..... Should the manufacturer be held reposible for this problem as to make it a recall ??? this problem has occured between 23,000 miles and then again around 35,000 miles.

I've had the track that holds the driver's seat break twice, once at 40000 miles and again last summer at 125000 miles.all i did was sit and drive. I only weigh 220lbs!there is no warning or indication that it's broke until you make a turn and almost fly out the window, imagine if i was in an accident not knowing it was broke or weakened.to top it off the assembly just the bracket that holds the seat to the car costs $450.the car only cost 13000.

Seat brackets broke.

On the drivers side front seat.the frame member that attaches the seat itself to the sliding track has broken into.this caused the seat to tilt backward while my son was driving.the local dealer was shown the problem and basically said tough luck, without extended warrenty nothing could be done by dealer.he said that the assembly that was broken would cost several hundred dollars to replace.i feel that this bracket broke as a design defect.it appears to be a cast type of metal that is welded to both sides of the frame.it broke right in the middle.i don't know if this is happening to other mustangs, but feel it is very unsafe.we are having to drive this car presently with the seat lowered to is lowest position and a block of wood under the frame, until i can find a replacement seat at a local junk yard, since the dealer will not help.if i can provide any help, please call.this could have caused a loss of control.thanks.

Upon starting vehicle smoke filled passenger compartment and fire started under drivers seat.tt

Seat track broke away from the mounting bolts while driving.

Metal component of driver side seat, which bolts to floor, snapped.there are four (4) previous reports to nhtsa of the same or similar problems:odi id 537368 on 06/24/1998; odi id 704022 on 02/24/1999; odi id 711299 on 09/04/1999; and odi id 862765 on 05/29/2000.since there were no reports prior to 06/24/1998, does this possibly suggest metal fatigue in component used to mount seat to floor of vehicle?

Brakes periodically lockup while driving causing accident at 15mph.tt

Abs light will come on/off, sometimes it will stay on. Dealer replace sensor/bad grounding/bad connecting wire. Said cannot replace whole abs system. Has been to different dealer, defect still reoccurring.

Braske pedal makes a loud creaking noise whenever it is depressed. Dealer replaced brake booster twice, but noise continues.

Whenever the steering wheelis turned it makes a loud screeching grinding noise, and it has gotten progressively worst with time.a ford dealer told me the upper steering rod arms were bad . This is unbelieveable as the car only had i3000 miles on it ,the dealer further stated that he couldnt grease the part because it was a sealed unit and came from the manufacturer greased .well my contention is that if this part comes from the manufacturer greased and sealed the one i got is a faulty product because upper steering rod arms should never go bad after only 13000 miles of operation of the vehicle. I tried to get someone at ford motor company to talk with me about this problem, but all i got was a run around from the dealer to the ford motor company .no one would address the problem.i would like to add here that there is a safety problem here with severe possibility of an accident occurring because the steeringmal functions because of the upper steering rod arms.

On a regular basis, the radio picks up engine noise, drowning out the radio sounds.on two occasions i have taken the car to woody anderson ford in huntsville, alabama to get it repaired, but each time the dealer stated that it could not repair it unless the radio was making the noise at the time it was brought it.this is next to impossible since the noise is intermittent, and usually stops within 15 minutes.the dealer is 25 minutes from my home.i had the alternator replaced and that seemed to help for a short period of time, but the problem soon resumed.please note that i took the car to woody anderson rather than alexander ford (the dealer from from which i purchased the car).this was done due to w/a's proximity to my home.

The rear stabilizer bar broke on the passenger side at the rear-most attaching point.i have been informed by other owners of the sn95 platform mustang (94-98) of this same exact failure.upon replacement of the part it was realized that the rear stabilizer bar had previously been replaced.the build date on the part that broke was from year 1996 the vehicle is a 1994.with the number of failures of this particular part and the scenerious a being almost identical, i should think that there would be some attention given to the matter by ford in the form of a recall.i believe myself to be very lucky that this did not happen at highway speeds.

The rear swaybar broke on the passenger's side at the rear mounting bolt.this is the second failure of a swaybar.in both cases, the swaybar broke at the rear mounting hole.in the first case, the bar dropped down and swung freely under the car.

While traveling engine check light came on ,andvehicle commenced to run rough.vehicle taken to an independent repair shop, and informed consumer of a blownout head gasket. Dealer / manufacturerwere notified. Feel free to provide any further information.
