Car has been stalling, stalled three times within two miles.it's currently in the shop, dealer recommends to re-program the computer.i believe it could be something to do with the iac.this is a serious safety issue, when the car dies, there is no power steering and the brakes become very hard to depress.this should be recalled and fixed as soon as possible.

Air bag non deployment!!!

While driving 25 mph consumer lost control of the vehicle and it collided with the vehicle in front.upon impact, both frontal air bags failed to deploy.driver sustained minor injuries.the vehiclewas towed to a garage.

Takata recall. The drivers side seat belt was replaced under warranty the first time, as it was failing to return to default position properly. The seat belt was replaced a second time, after i was rear ended (it was failing to retract again at the time, identical to the first time i had to have it replaced under warranty), and crushed into the vehicle in front of me. I was at a full stop when the vehicle hit me from behind. That crash deployed both airbags. The front and rear bumpers were replaced due to that crash, along with the seat belt. I have no way of knowing if those two replacement airbags were made by takata. The seat belt has again become "unsafe" due to it not retracting. I have no way of knowing if the seat belt will function properly if i'm involved in another accident! this leaves me with two questions: do i have takata airbags in this car, and, is this seat belt issue a known problem that has been recalled or at least has a tsb issued? this is an 18 year old car that i seldom drive, and have owned since brand new, but if i have two safety issues that ford should be taking care of, i would like to know about it, so i can get the problems resolved. Is there any way for me to determine the i do or do not have takata airbags, since they were replaced by a ford dealer (now called "auto nation ford") here in frisco, texas. The date of the accident is an estimate.

The contact owns a 2000 ford mustang gt.while driving 40 mph in the rain, the contact crashed into another vehicle and a pine tree.the front driver side of the vehicle was damaged.the air bags failed to deploy.a police report was filed and the vehicle was destroyed, according to the insurance company.the failure and current mileages were 73,000.updated 3/25/08 updated 03/25/08

I have a 2000 ford mustang gt which caught on fire because of the alternator, ford has have several suits filed against them for this reason.i called ford locally and they only show a recall for the manifold which i have replaced previously.before i replaced it ford said there was no recall on the manifold, i am hearing the same story again as i did before and i know there is a problem with the alt.

My 2000 mustang gt overheated while i was driving back home, on a ten mile journey a couple days ago. Until this incident, my mustang had never overheated.i bought the car last sept. I used hose water at gas station to cool it first on hood then once my engine looked cooler, i filled the radiator (thinking we'd flush the cooling system when i got it home) water emptied as fast as i poured it in, from intake manifold behind what looks like the thermostat housing. My car is my only transportation.now i'm not sure what to do.because i used all my money to buy this car.i can not afford to fix this. My situation appears identical to several on your site, such as this one i just copied from one of the complaints posted:oct 08, 2013 - lexington, sc - engine and engine coolingwhile driving vehicle, engine began to overheat. Steam rolled from under the hood. Discovered crack in manifold where it connects to thermostat housing. Coolant dripping on the engine; i do not know if internal components are damaged.

My car completely shuts down while driving.it has happened 4 separate occasions. The car has been serviced twice for this and the dealer's service dept is currently trying to determine the problem, but no results have arrived.this is a serious safety concern due to high potential of a fatal accident resulting by the car shutting off while driving creating no power steering or brakes. The dealer's service dept has supposedly fixed and/or replaced 2 separate parts that were the supposed culprits, but the problem continues.incidents occurred in 2002, 2005, and 2006.this problem, as you can see by dates, is random and happens without any warning, such as "idiot" lights coming on prior or engine hesitation, and apparently is just as complicated to diagnose.

Driving along when i heard aloud pop. Followed by loud popping and rattling sound when on.found out after taking it to the shop it was a spark plug that has been shot out of the head. I don't know all of the right terminology for this but was told this is a common problem for these cars. If i had known this i would have never bought a ford mustang 2000 or any other ford product. I will save all the parts for further investigation.

The contact owns a 2000 ford mustang gt. The contact stated that the engine intake manifold failed. The vehicle was towed to jan ja service center (5771 main street trumbull, ct, 06611 phone: 203-261-3249), but was not repaired. The manufacturer stated that the vehicle was not included in the manufacturer's voluntary recall (0s34) for the replacement of the intake manifold. The dealer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 125,000.

The iac on my new mustang went bad. At first ford wouldn't cover it but the car was less than 90 days old. The one they installed went bad after 10 days also and so did the following one after 90 days.the last one went bad just before the warranty went up and now i keep a spare and change it about one every couple of years.

Son drove his 2000 ford mustang in morning (no problems) went out that night to go out and the car sounded like a lawn mower. He shut it off immediately.had veh towed to dealership. Was told that it has a blown spark plug and that the fuel pressure regulator had a manufacture defect and fill 6 of the 8 cylinders with fuel. Engine with 87000 miles on it is completely shot. Needs a new motor.veh still at dealership torn down.

The spark plug is popping out of the socket , this was a problem that i have replace once already with in the year.also the paint is peeling off the roof on the car.i have seenthat there has been other ford cars with the same problem , whyis it that no one can see that this is a on going problem.someone has to know about this problem with ford.

While driving vehicle, engine began to overheat.steam rolled from under the hood.discovered crack in manifold where it connects to thermostat housing.coolant dripping on the engine; i do not know if internal components are damaged. Researched it online and found that there was a recall on this model and that ford corrected this in subsequent models by changing manifold to aluminum from the plastic.ford will not honor recall for my vehicle.they are claiming that my vehicle isn't on the recall despitethe fact that my car contains the same part that has been recalled.

The contact owns a 2000 ford mustang gt. While driving approximately 35 mph, the contact noticed that the vehicle began to overheat and steam was escaping from under the hood. The contact stopped the vehicle and noticed that the plastic riser on the back side of the manifold and the heater hose were fractured and water was leaking from the heater hose. The vehicle was towed to the contact's home and was inspected by an independent mechanic. The mechanic was able to attach the hose back onto the vehicle. In addition, the intake gasket was leaking anti freeze and water where the manifold was attached to the cylinder heads. The mechanic advised that theintake manifold was fractured and would have to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.

The contact owns a 2000 ford mustang gt. The contact stated that engine oil was leaking from the oil filter adapter. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated that the oil filter adapter needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 59,000.

I had a spark plug blow out on my way to work on my 2000 gt mustang 4.6l engine. Ford charged about $350 for parts/repair and said it was rare but i have been reading where others have had the same problem.

While driving on the highway the plastic transition piece between the thermostat and the intake manifold failed causing coolant to fill four of the spark plug wells and causing the car to miss very badly. This is a known problem with these intakes and a recall is in place for some of them. Mine is the same part number as the recalled ones with the same problem as the recalled ones but not covered under the recall.

Spark plug blow out on my 2000 ford mustang gt.

Driving down interstate when started smelling antifreeze.thought it was coming from a car in front of me.all gauges were fine with no indication of an engine problem.i drove for several miles before i began to notice engine trouble.by this point all the water had been pumped out of the motor.all engine gauges continued to read fine.after pulling off side of the road and diagnosing the problem i discovered that the heater hose outlet on top of fords plastic intake had broke off.in order to fix this issue you have to replace the entire intake.this could have been much worse as when i stopped i could have been burned, also when i finally noticed it was my car smoke was filling the interior through the heater vents.i still don't know if the motor is alright as it severely overheated.bare minimum is over 800 to fix if there is no motor damage.

Plastic timing belt guide broke, causing timing belt to rub against engine, putting metal through the engine.

My family and i were driving on i-95 south of lumberton north carolina. Whenthe spark plug blew out of the cylinder head causing such a loud noise we swerved into another lane of traffic .i believethat thisis a extreme safety problem. This problem is on a 2000 ford mustang gt 4.6l engine.

If the vehicle shuts off while moving it will lose power steering and braking causing the vehicle to swerve.

Spark plug blew out on the2000 ford mustang gt 4.6l modular engine while driving.car started to lose power, back fire, and had a strong odor of fuel / oil.had to tow vehicle to repair shop.91000 miles on engine when this happened.this was a knownproblem on ford modular engines 1999-2003.i

Rough or rolling idle. Vehicle stalls at stops or when clutch is depressed for gear-down in curves or turns.loss of steering/braking control has resulted in repeated occurrences of travel left of center.manufacturer has no diagnosis for concern. Pcm re-program attempts are short-term "fix".problem recurs.

My 2000 mustang gt, with the 4.6 engine and with 80,000 miles, experienced a blown out a spark plug while on the highway at 55mph. Just the sound of this (a big "bang!" when the plug hits the inside of the hood and the engine now misfiring, running on 7 cylinders) is enough to distract the best driver and along with the lost of power is an accident just waiting to happen. After being almost rear ended, fortunately there was a parking lot nearby that my car barely coasted to. The plug came completely out of the cylinder head and was laying on the side of the engine with the coil still attached. I understand from ford, there is only 3 to 4 threads, in the cylinder head, that hold the spark plug in. As anyone with any engineering or engine knowledge would know, 3 - 4 threads are not nearly enough to secure a spark plug in a cylinder head with the compression pressure of the piston. This is clearly a engineering defect that could have disastrous effects if my car was unable to move off the highway. This time luck played into it (with a parking lot nearby), but what about the next time? am i suppose to stop on the highway and take my chances? a plug blows out and there isn't anywhere to park and/or the plug also takes out the fuel rail resulting in a possible fire. As i stated above: an accident just waiting to happen.after further research i've found that this is a common problem on ford v8 engines made from 1997-98 to 2003. I'm really confused as to why there hasn't already been a recall involving these engines. If i make a mistake, i'm held responsible for that mistake. Why shouldn't ford be held responsible for their failures that could result in serious injury or even death? the nhtsa should immediately issue a recall involving these ford engines. Any nhtsa action short of a recall is just plain irresponsible. The nhtsa is a government agency charged with protecting the public. Please investigate this ford engine defect. The american public deserves nothing less.

Vehicle stalling when slowing down or turning.clutch is not engaged.this is not the first time this has happened.it occurred in oct. Of 2002 and in april 2003.

My 2000 mustang gt blew out a sparkplug while on the highway going about 45 miles per hour. This engine has about 40,000 miles on it. It was bought directly from ford to replace more first engine after 160,000 miles. This is the 2nd engine ford sent to replace my old engine. The 1st replacement engine blew out a sparkplug on initial startup in the repair shop.

(1)normal driving no racing just normal driving(2)my spark plug stripped out the threads in my head of my 2000 mustanggt now i need to replace cylinder head or have it helicoiled. The design of the head is at fault in my opinion, there isn't enough threads on the cylinder head to properly hold the spark plug in place.(3) have not been able to repair due to cost.

E failed to start on several occasions; vehicle could only be operated with foot on the gas pedal at all times to allow fuel to vehicle air flow; vehicle almost uncontrollable coming to a stop at red light when engine stalled; vehicle would not continue idling on a cold start. Per dealer, the iac valve needs replacing...expected on ford automobiles(mustangs and explorers, specifically). 2000 mustang gt owners need a recall on this situation before someone is killed with a vehicle that can not be controlled when the hydraulics fail because of a stalled engine.i live in a large metro area with a high percentage of fast drivers.

Plastic intake manifold on my 2000 ford mustang gt cracked and was leaking coolant.part was replaced by sanderson ford in glendale az on august 3, 2007 at a cost of $1406.01.there was a class action lawsuit against ford in regards to these defective manifolds but i am outside of the period of which it was in force, but i feel thatperiod was too short as my vehicle was purchased on november 18, 1999 and i am the original owner.

Faulty parts that was part of a class action law suit that ford never notified all involved...therefore, they hid from telling so that they wouldn't have to pay for all the cars with this faulty part...per fords customer service, the notices only went to the original owners...not true my other ford had a recall and i rec'd that info and i wasn't the first owner...they are hiding from their responsibilities...

Dt*: the contact stated while driving various speeds at night, the headlights were not bright enough to see the road.the vehicle was driven to the dealer who determined the lenses were clouded over and the headlights needed to be replaced.updated 11/17/06.

Consumer states while driving the vehicle the intake manifold was causing vehicle to stall or vehicle will shut down.

Iac valve, when the car will start but will not idle, looking at everyone'strouble with this issue, makes me wonder why ford motor company will not grow balls and make it right. I wanted a mustang but the ford name will never be parked in my drive way again.mr h. Ford would hang his head down over this on.

I purchased a 2000 mustang gt. When cold, and putting the vehicle in drive or reverse, it will suddenly jump forward or reverse depending on if your in reverse or drive. It is if it "gives" itself gas. I tried contacting ford and they said there was a problem, but not something that they were "prepared" to deal with at this time. This is a safety hazard that if someone is not prepared, will cause them to go into traffic, hit a young child or gas pump. This is not isolated, i have spoken to several people that have had the same problem. My vehicle does this often, and if my wife is driving it, i have to remind her to be careful.

The contact owns a 2000 ford mustang gt. The contact stated that the fuel tube net is rusting out on the vehicle. The contact stated that because of the failure, fuel spills out of the gas tank whenever it is filled. The dealer had not inspected the vehicle, but stated that the tanks are on back order because of the high number of failures. The failure mileage was 82000 and the current mileage was 83000.

Filled gas tank on a 2000 ford mustang gt, fuel was leaking neck filler inlet side, was not aware leaking fuel till my neighbors notified me. Called ford dealership to ask if a there was a recall, no recall at all. Took vehicle for service and neck filler was replaced. They had no clue what caused a neck filler to go bad. Ford should look into this for safety reasons.

Filler neck tube leaking during fuel fillup.filler tube seal cracked in half.upon inspection of rust damage to filler tube, the rust was so bad that the tube literally crumbled in half.

When parking brake is engaged while in neutral (manual transmission) on a slight incline. The parking brake will click down a few notches and start rolling causing property damage or even death of an individual.

The vehicles clutch made a squeaking noise when engaged.the clutch failed and was replaced but the problem re-occurred within 10000 miles.*nlm

Transmission broke damaging my engine block and smashing my catalytic converter and o2 sensor causing an estimated $13,000 dollars worth of damage.

In order to shift my 2000 mustang gt into reverse, i have to first shift the car into first gear as the reverse gear is not synchronized. The dealership it was bought from claims that this is a known issue with this model year but the issue is not stated in the manual and i have never been informed otherwise. Further, even though i shift the car into first before going to reverse, i still have difficulty getting the stick into reverse periodically. The process is inconvenient - why should i have to shift into two gears just to get to the one i want?

My 2000 mustang gt, manual transmission, keeps cutting out suddenly with deceleration and i lose my power brakes and steering. Very scary. The iac valve was replaced 18 months. Ago when i bought the car, but i still had problems. After doing this continually for 2 days, the dealer changed the iac again. Four days later it did it again, twice. This is a safety issue, and when i called ford regional, i got nothing useful no one seems to know what causes this.*la

The seat belt retractor may have a pin shaft in the switchable elr/alr mechanism that is incorrectly formed. In some circumstances, the switching mechanism could become nonfunctional, preventing the seat belt webbing from being extracted from the retractor. It is also possible that malfunction of the mechanism could prevent the belt from being switched into the alr mode. The elr mechanism is not affected by this condition.

Takata recall. The drivers side seat belt was replaced under warranty the first time, as it was failing to return to default position properly. My car was parked in a parking lot. My friend took off his seat belt and as it was retracting, it locked. I tried to pull on it to see if it would unlock and it will not budge one bit. It is locked about half ways.

My 2000 mustang gt overheated while i was driving back home, on a ten mile journey a couple days ago. Until this incident, my mustang had never overheated.i bought the car last sept. Front seat belt retraction doesn't retract. It stopped retracting after the warranty was up.the front seat belt continue to non-retract so they get caught in the doors and chip paint and cause problems.

The contact owns a 2000 ford mustang gt.the contact stated that her seat beat fails to latch.the mechanic stated that it needed to be replaced.the seat belt has been replaced three times.the vehicle is not included in any recalls.the current mileage is 114,000 and failure mileage was 101,620.

Dt: the contact state thatfront passenger seat belt will not come out all the way. Recall n99v250000was issuedon this problem.dealer and manufacturer saidthis vehicle is not in the recall.

Leather seats at 2000 miles are deteriating, look like they have 120,000 miles. I have spoken to the dealer who says it is normal for mustangs, i have spoken with other mustang owners & they say theres is the same. Either they use an inferior grade of leather or as others have told me it is the construction of the seat which causes the foam to deteriate.

Front seat head rests, when fully extended, do not provide any support toneck if vehicle was rearended. Contacted dealer, and dealer stated vehicle metford standards.*yd

Failures in brakes systemon mustang gt 99 to 2004the brake became freeze after a heavy transit and the car lost the stopping action. Ford inform me that we need to changes the brake oil but we changed oil, pads, line, rotors, etc and the car remain with the problems.in my case i lost the brake action and had a serious accident.

There were noises coming from the steering wheel and column.the dealer was unable to detect.the suspension creaks/pops while driving after a cold start, the noises fade after the vehicle is warm.the rack and pinion was replaced.the steering column collapsed on the consumers foot while driving and while head on with an 18 wheeler.the vehicle drifted into oncoming traffic.dealer installed a new sector shaft.the brake pedal was spongy, the tires started to dry crack(the consumer was advised to keep an eye on), and the center console would not latch shut. *mr*scc*nlm

Dt:the consumer owns a 2000 ford mustang gt.consumer states that since he purchased the vehicle in 2004 he has had to replace the rack and pinion. This will make three times. All the parts are remanufactured.

I have a 2000 ford mustang gt. The paint all over the car is cracking like an eggshell. I called ford and of course they said the warranty is expired and they wonder why all their sales are dropping.

Rear axle bearings and axle shafts prematurely failed. First occurance was at 34,000 miles under manufacturers warranty. Dealer replaced carrier bearings, wheel bearings and axle shafts. Axles and bearings failed again at 46,000 miles, after warranty expired. Dealer contacted ford motor company and ford elected to replace bearings and axles again under warranty. Now at 90,000 miles the bearings and shafts have failed again. Dealer is evaluating the problem with ford and i am waiting for a solution under warranty due to either a manufacturing defect or design defect. I am worried that the bearings will seize and cause an accident.

Pi intake is cracked and it is made of pastic and i only got 42500miles in the car i expect to get repaired by the manufactury

The contact owns a 2000 ford mustang gt. While driving 25 mph, the vehicle suddenly accelerated. The contact turned off the vehicle to stop the failure. The vehicle had not been inspected at the time of the complaint. The vin was not available when the complaint was filed. The current and failure mileages were unknown.

Vehicle failed to start on several occasions; vehicle could only be operated with foot on the gas pedal at all times to allow fuel to flow; vehicle almost uncontrollable coming to a stop at red light when engine stalled; vehicle would not continue idling on a cold start.per dealer, the iac valve needs replacing...expected on ford automobiles(mustangs and explorers, specifically).

Engine almost stalls when coming to a stop making the steering hard.this problem is well known, and should be a recall!! should look into idle air control valve (iac) as the possible cause.

When engaging the vehicle into drive with the brake appliedengine reeved and reached to 2500 rpms. As a result, vehicle surgedforward.

The iac valve keeps going bad in my 2000 ford mustang gt.i have had to have it replaced by my local shop for $300 each (including the tow to the shop since the car was inoperable).

Windowmechanism on thepassenger's side was out of the track, causing the windownot roll down or up.
