I have an 2014 ford fusion hybrid.after reading all of the complaints from other drivers, i want to be pro active and find out what part, exactly is on back order for so many years.as an ase certified (re-certified) technicion, a.a..s degree auto mechanics and a.a.s. Degree in diagnostics (1989).now, how do i protect my wife while in the passenger seat? 2013 ford fusion. On 4/29/2014 the rear driver side seat belt receptacle broke when trying to latch seat belt. Today, 6/26/2014, the passenger rear seat belt receptacle broke. These are ford's new seat belts with airbags in them. The receptacles seem to be cheaply made. I have been waiting for 6 weeks to get the first one replaced because ford says they are on back order.

Driving down rural residential area road at night.car illuminated "stop safely now" warning and lost power.car stalled and would not re-start leaving me stranded.tow truck was called and picked up car.dealer reported that car blew 125 amp fuse and several electrical components damaged. This occurred approximately two weeks after car's leaky transmission was repaired.car still in service department.

The blis system on this car has been repaired a few times now and it is still having issues. Either one side of the blis will stay lit for a mile or more on the interstate with nothing there or it will fail to activate if a car is located in the blindspot. Occasionally, i will be sitting perfectly still and one side of the blis system will just light up for no reason or a proximity sensor will trigger. The system on this car is unreliable and not actually promoting any additional safety. It seems the entire system is defective.

Vehicle stalled while traveling about 35mph. Loss of all power both mechanical and electrical, numerous warning lights appeared on dash. Traction system disengaged then reengaged, which disabled and reenabled the brakes causing the car to slide across the rode. Upon restart all warning light disappeared. Car was towed to dealer, after scanning ecu 25+ codes were found. No solution was determined and ford told the dealer to just reflash the ecu, and add dielectric grease to all connectors. All modules involved were tested and passed.

The vehicle 'temporarily lost communication with the climate control 'basically the touchscreen freezes and none of thebuttons on the center console work. Unable to turn on heat or air conditioning. The windows lock and can not be rolled up or down. This has happened while driving down free way and also parked at start up. This occurrence has happened more than once. Sometimes the car will some how go back to normal after a day. The latest the vehicle has lost communication for 4 days. They say you can't leave a kid in the car while you go into a store, but ford can make it where i can't roll my widows down while driving and i have 2 kids in the car and it's 90 out. Even more when it's winter time and the widow fogs up while driving there is no way to clear windows. To me it is a safety hazard to not be able to at least roll your windows down or upbecause an issue happens with the vehicle communication.

I was coming home from work and i get an error message that said "stop safely now".all of a sudden my lights flashed and my car cut off.my car hasn't ran yet.i am in the process of getting it towed to the dealership. Ford, when i called then told me that it wasn't under a recall and i would have to pay out of pocket for everything.

The contact owns a 2014 ford fusion hybrid. When the contact attempted to start the vehicle, the key fob fractured and the key became detached from the fob. The vehicle would not start. The vehicle had to be started using pliers. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the key fob was fractured and needed to be replaced. The fob was not replaced. The contact was able to use a spare key to operate the vehicle. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 15,000.updated 02/05/16*lj updated 04/07/16*lj

Car had previously lost full power and brakes in april, incident repeated itself this time 5500 miles later while at freeway speeds. Car lost power brakes and steering, was able to cost to a stop. After stopping car locked itself in park and engaged the parking brake, making towing very difficult. After numerous restarts error lights disappeared and the car drove fine and was able to be moved out of traffic. After stopping car locked itself in park again and would no longer function. Dealer has no idea how to fix this issue, had this occurred with high traffic it would have resulted in a crash. Ford was contacted to attempt buy back program.

The rear view backup camera fails. I have taken this vehicle to multiple dealerships totaling at least a dozen times for repair. The dealer has repeatedly been unable to repair this problem.

On at least 3 occasions when turning leftusually a hard left turn and usually when i park the power steering goes out and the dash lights up. It has been to the dealer 3 times and they cannot find a problem but if the steering goes out on a turn at a higher speed it could cause an accident. The dealer said when the problem happens again to drive straight to the dealership and don't turn off the car and that only works if they are open. I am concerned!!!

I was driving my ford fusion hybrid today on the interstate and had a complete engine failure while driving. I was driving, then a noticed popped on my dashboard stating to stop safely now. I pressed the gas pettle and the ev mode kicked on, propelling my vehicle speed to over 85 miles per hour. I was extremely nervous because the fords electric vehicle engines are limited to 85 mph in pure ev mode. I was able to come to the shoulder of the interstate. I turned the vehicle off, waited a few seconds and restarted the vehicle. All seemed to be ok, as soon as i pushed the gas pettle to get back on the highway the information dashboard was alarming me to stop safely now. I did not have any check engine lights come on. I then revved the engine to see if i would experience anything, the engine finally came on, then revved and i felt that even though i was in park if my foot would have been off of the break pettle my vehicle would have moved forward. I turned the vehicle off as soon as i felt this the engine was constantly revving until i turned the key to the off switch. I then had the vehicle towed to the dealership. I was driving at 76 mph on the highway and complete failure occurred.

Pulling into a parking lot warning light came on that said steering fault - service now. I went into my appointment came out started that car to go to the ford dealer which was approximately 15 miles away and when i started to back out of my parking space - warning light saying "steering failure-pull over safely along with alarms and the traction control light were flashing in warning and i had zero steering capability.had to call road side assistance. It was less than 50 feet that i had driven from the first warning light. In my opinion if i had been on the interstate or driving in inclement weather the warning light did not give enough warning to safely allow me to get myself and my car out of danger.

When car is backing out of parking spot sometimes it doesn't beep to let you know a car is coming.sometimes it beeps when no car or person is around.

I was driving 25mph on a neighborhood road when i slowed down to go over a speed bump. After going over the bump, i went to accelerate and the car felt as if it had choked and lost all power. Within 30 seconds a warning on my dash asked me to pull over safely now. After finding a safe place to pull over, i remained in my car. The battery life continued to run down until it was dead and the motor never kicked on to recharge it. It turned itself off and 30 minutes later i tried to restart my vehicle. It turned on, attempted to turn on its motor since it could not idle on its dead battery, and the cars warning signs came on then died again. There is no explanation for this malfunction and the recalls made are not relevant to the issue occurring. I just bought the car 8 weeks ago and it has less than 30,000 miles on it. This is a serious problem.

Vehicle was on cruise control (65 mph), tapped brakes to slow around a curve, vehicle lost power(curve left ). No indicator lights came on, coasted to stop on shoulder. Turned off ignition. Restarted vehicle, resumed trip.

My car was making a load noise so i took it to a mechanic who referred me to the dealer because of the complexity of the vehicle.towed the car to morgan hill ford store in morgan hill california and was told that the engine was no good, that the motor bolts dislodged and melted causing the bolts to shred;the dealer service person ryan advised that the shredded metal got into the oil andwent through my entire engine causing the engine fail. My car was only 3.5 years old, 90,000 miles but frequent oil changes with the extended maintenance package. There was no hint that the car was having issues, no engine light, nor the check oil light. I have a 2013 ford fusion that was recalled for faulty engine bolts.

Exhaust is coming through the air vents when the heat is on. Ford has had this car in the shop in the past for this issue but it the problem has reappeared. The first time the dealer replaced the fresh air blend door. The dealer where i purchased the car has offered to buy the vehicle back due to numerous issues with the vehicle.

Fusion would stall as i would be pulling out into traffic.not once did the sensor come on the vehicle to alert me that there was a problem. Fuel injector pressure was the problem.

Hello everyone. I have a 2014 ford fusion hybrid titanium edition. I've gone to the same dealer that i purchased it from for all oil changes and service and tires.i have 152,000 miles on that car which is 2 1/2 years old. Yes it's a lot but it's my commute car. I drive 160 miles a day for work.last weekend my hubby pointed out a noise. I thought alignment. But the noise sounded like rear wheel bearings that failed.even the dealership agreed. They change them. But it didn't help with the noise.and now they're telling me i need a brand new transmission on my hybrid.i know what a bad tranny sounds like and how it moves. There are a handful of articles on the internet about 2014 ford fusion hybrid tranny going out.honestly it's very rare. The dealership also said he has never seen a hybrid come in for a new tranny.i called ford customerservice and basically they said sorry we can't help you.i feel ford should be responsible for1.the cost of the repair or2.the buyback program for my car. I've looked on the bbb regarding the auto line for ford and if this doesn't get resolved between ford and i i'm going to go that route.

The vehicle was taken to kelly ford (420 cabot street, beverly, ma 01915, (888) 865-9541) where it was diagnosed that the gear shift was faulty and the transmission axle was leaking. While on an exit ramp, my right knee lightly touched the key fob and rolled the ignition into the acc position.i have contacted my dealer and ford and they have opened a case.i have a video of me replicating the incident twice in 35 seconds.the video has been sent to my ford dealer and to ford as well.the service manager at don wood ford in athens, ohio took a test drive with me at the request of ford corporate hq and i replicated the event 2x for him.ford states that they have no record of similar incidents and want to replace my ignition.when it does happen, a warning chime and "transmission not in park" appears on the control panel, you have to put the car in neutral, turn the key to run and then place the car back into drivecontact me below if you would like to see the video.

Vehicle was on cruise control (65 mph), tapped brakes to slow around a curve, vehicle lost power(curve left ). No indicator lights came on, coasted to stop on shoulder. Turned off ignition. Restarted vehicle, resumed trip.

The contact owns a 2014 ford fusion hybrid. While operating the vehicle, the brake sensor light would suddenly illuminate and the abs was erroneously activated. When the brake pedal was depressed, the abs could be heard operating. The vehicle was taken to the dealer on several occasions due to the failure. The dealer reprogrammed the brake computer, but the failure continued to occur. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer and the brake booster was replaced. The contact then experienced a condition in which the brake pedal was too sensitive. When slightly pressing the pedal, the brakes would abruptly stop the vehicle. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vin was invalid. The failure mileage was 1,000.

While coming to a stop at a stop light the regenerative brakes suddenly let up and the car was not stopping correctly.i applied full force to the brakes and the car did slow but not before hitting the car in front of me.the vehicle collision warning did not come on because i was already breaking.

Vehicle stalled while traveling about 35mph. Loss of all power both mechanical and electrical, numerous warning lights appeared on dash. The contact owns a 2014 ford fusion hybrid. The contact stated that when the brake pedal was depressed at 35 mph, an abnormal noise emitted from front driver side of the vehicle as the brake pedal became extremely soft and went to floorboard. As a result, the brakes hesitated to respond as the contact reached an intersection and the brake warning lights illuminated. The contact mentioned that the vehicle eventually stopped and the information center displayed that there was brake failure message. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but the failure was unable to be determined. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 35,000.

Leaving home in the morning, car started and ran normally, 1 block later, pressed brake pedal and it went all the way to the floor.had to really stand on it to stop the car.brake system, abs, traction control, parking brake warning lights and messages all activated.parking brake locked up andthe car had to be towed to dealer.replaced parking brake switch, rear brake pads, and rodent-chewed wiring.worked fine for a couple months.then, driving close to home about 35 mph, brakes failed again.standing on brake pedal stopped car in (estimated) double normal distance.all brake-related warning lights and messages activated, plus service rear park assist message.parking brake locked up.towed to dealer.service writer saw lights and messages, but techs later couldn't find malfunction, no codes set.dealership made no repairs, sent me home with a car i am afraid to drive.when asked if this is a known issue, they pretended not to know, and didn't plan to contact ford about it.in my opinion, a software or electrical problem that causes the car to lose braking is a pretty serious design flaw.according to nthsa database and internet forums, this is a known issue, and something needs to be done before someone gets killed.at the very least, good-faith buyers should not be left holding the bag.

My wife was traveling down a local road (5 lanes) and speed limit 40 mph getting into the center left turn lane, there were three additional cars in front of her.she was probably doing about 15 mph at most and began to depress the brake pedal when she experienced what we subsequently learned is called a "hard stop/hard brake" - this is when the electronic brakes fail and the manual brakes take over.luckily, she is a very cautious driver and not prone to quick stops.the car slowed and finally came to a halt without hitting the car in front of her after she depressed the brake twice.it is very probable that she did not depress really far down not being aware of how the manual brakes are supposed to take over if the electronic brakes fail.she subsequently began to experience a low-grade clicking/grinding noise when she would have the brake pedal depressed after being at a complete stop.she took the car into the ford dealership for immediate examination.she has been told that the dealership had to order a new abs module.the fear for her is what would cause such a failure so early in the life cycle of the car (12,000 miles) plus if it is a problem with the abs module is it a design flaw in module and will it continue to happy of the lifespan of the car.

My wife and i were driving south on i-95 in florida. Unbeknownst to me, my wife's blouse caught on the electric emergency brake located on the left side of the center console and this momentarily engaged it. Our car screeched and lurched forward as the brake tried to engage. When she finally disengaged her clothing from the emergency brake lever, the car returned to normal operation. Mind you all of this happened at 70 mph!first, why would that switch be active when the car is moving? unlike a manual emergency brake operated by a lever, the electronic brake goes "full on" at engagement, making it particularly dangerous if it accidentally becomes engaged while the car is moving, especially at high speed.second, i was lucky as traffic was pretty light at the time of this incident. If someone had been near to me, or tailgating as is so often the case on the highway, we would have had a serious accident. I must admit i was shaken until i finally unraveled what had happened.i love my ford fusion hybrid and the technology that's included in the car. The electronic emergency brake, however, should not be able to be engaged while the car is moving. As an example, the seat memory setting buttons can't be used while the car is in gear. That same limitation should be put in place for the electronic emergency brake before it causes a serious accident for someone.

I was driving at 76 mph on the highway and complete failure occurred.

Vehicle breaks stopped working and went straight to the floor. Also loss of steering. Since both the brakes and steering are electronic i believe there was a electronic failer in the car.

While driving on the highway, the power steering failed.with difficulty, i was able to get the vehicle home.it was especially difficult to turn the vehicle at lower speeds after i left the freeway.the next day, i turned on the car and the steering was working again.for a couple miles, then the power steering loss resumed.i carefully drove it to the dealership on monday, where it remains.

I had to have my 2014 ford fusion repaired on 11/14/17 due to the steering wheel coming loose. I got into my car to drive home on 11/13/17 and noticed that the steering wheel jiggled. I drove 60 miles home. I took it to our mechanic the next day and he said that it was barely hanging on.

Rack and pinion electronic power assisted steering (epas) failure. My vehicle epas system malfunctioned. I took the vehicle to apple ford in columbia md for resolution and had to pay $1900.00 + for a part that in my opinion and based off previous recalls is a ford manufacturing problem. The issues occurred when the vehicle was moving. All the dash lights flash with no clear indication on what the actual problem was. We took the vehicle in for service and had to leave the vehicle there because we were told it was unsafe to drive.

Pulling into a parking lot warning light came on that said steering fault - service now. I went out to start my vehicle and got warning lights, steering assist needs attention, hill start assist needs attention.service vehicle.i had no power steering at this point and had to tow the vehicle to the dealer.just out of warranty at 37k miles.the steering gear had to be replaced.this sounds very similar to what has been happening in the ford fusion models which had a recall, but no recall on the hybrids!i'm thankful it happened in my driveway and not on the highway.

The contact owns a 2014 ford fusion hybrid. The contact stated that as she was pulling out of a bank parking, several unknown warning lights illuminated. The steering wheel ceased. The vehicle was taken to stuteville ford of atoka, llc (1601 s mississippi ave, atoka, ok 74525), and was diagnosed that the power steering control module failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact mentioned that her husband was able to move the steering wheel and drove the vehicle to her residence. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.*dt

While driving on the highway steering wheel became very loose.i was fearful it was going to come off in my hands.i took it ford and they fixed it.the charged me.it looks like this is becoming a common problem with this year fusion and not isolated to me as i was told by ford.i have a video of the steering wheel problem but it is not in a format this site accepts.

Steering wheel suddenly became loose while driving down local street. Was driving at 20 miles per hour.the more i drove, the looser steering wheel became.was able to return to my home.will take to dealership for evaluation. Updated 8/6/18

I was not informed by the manufacturer about this recall or when and how to get it repaired. I had to find out online myself when i was searching my vin.

The contact owns a 2014 ford fusion hybrid. While accelerating from a stop, the contact heard a thumping noise. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who determined that all three motor mounts were damaged and needed replacement. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The dealer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 72,000.

Driving to work when all of a sudden it became incredibly difficult to steer and control car. I was veering at first to the left then to the right. I tried not to hit the person on my right and slammed on the brakes, which caused me to fishtail and hit the guy anyway. My rear driver's side tire was completely gone-only a rim remained. This car has barely 800 miles on it....scary and sad for the guy i hit...me-completely spooked and very disappointed albeit grateful to be alive and not run over by oncoming traffic...:(

Front driver's door failed to latch. There is no way to secure the door closed. This is a life-threatening driving safety issue and theft issuethere is a recall already in place however my vin falls out of the previously announced range. The recall should be reopened and expanded.

The hood will not open and it is jammed and nothing was wrong with it before, the pieces are cheap and they shouldn't break like that

This is a brand new car. I am experiencing front end vibration, more and more frequently, at normal highway speeds, some increase when turning and more when going over small bumps in the road.i would describe it as a tactile but non-audible "rumble". I have not felt like the steering will go out of control but i am concerned about the steering stability and possible suspension problem leading to lack of control.

The nhtsa campaign number: 14v597000 (air bags, seat belts); jun 16, 2015 please advise me, and since all i need is the part...go get one off the assembly line.i just love my fusion hybrid and i refuse to give it up. I purchased it at the dealership for an on line custom built to my specifications and the thing is loaded.i don't want to say, i don't care who dies in my fusion, as long its not me.so, you don't need to ensure i won't die just make sure i can purchase this part from the dealer or part store.many thanks, barrie, gysgt, u.s.m.c., dale city, virginia

I have had my car for 1.5 yrs and the mpg is getting worse and worse. I used to get 43 when i got the car and it has steadily declined to 34 mpg. I paid a premium for a hybrid that gets the millage of a regular fusion. I have asked 2 different dealerships to look at it when my car is in there for other issues. Both responses have been there is nothing we can do unless a system light on.so i also contacted ford from my owner.com and they gave me the same response. The longer i have it the worse millage i get. I actually love the car but, i bought this car strictly because of the gas millage it was supposed to get 42-47. Now i am stuck with a over priced car that if i sold it i would lose thousands on. I work full-time and go to school part-time. I don't have money just throw away. Please, please help me because it is obvious that ford will do nothing to help their customers.

I was driving on the highway when my car shut off. No warning, it just shut off. I had to coast to the side of the road. After i put the car in park, it started back up with no problem.

Driver side rear bliss sensorwill either indicate a vehicle is present when nothing is there or fail to indicate a vehicle is in the blind spot when present. Due to this failure, it creates a safety hazard due to driver not seeing the car and the bliss light is not on even though a car is there. Problem started around november of 2015 and i showed dealer videos of problem and dealer said no error codes so cannot fix.

The contact owns a 2014 ford fusion hybrid. While driving 80 mph with the cruise control activated, the contact heard an abnormal noise and saw multiple unknown warning indicators illuminated. While attempting to park the vehicle on the side of the road and shifting the gear into park, the vehicle failed to stop and kept moving forward. The contact associated the failure with nhtsa campaign number: 18v471000 (power train).the contact had to apply the emergency brake to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence and then towed to automax ford (located at 3301 e central texas expy, killeen, tx 76543, (888) 927-7951). The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 111,000.

Gas pedal completely broke off while i was driving in heat traffic on a rainy morning.no one at ford or the dealership shows any interest in replacing the defective plastic gas pedal; not to mention what happened. They act as though this is a normal malfunction.

The rear view backup camera fails. I have taken this vehicle to multiple dealerships totaling at least a dozen times for repair. The dealer has repeatedly been unable to repair this problem.

I was at my dealership to have my tires rotated and they stated that they had difficulty getting my lug nuts off. They stated that my lug nuts "were swullen". I have been driving for over 50 years and never heard of this before. They said that i need to buy new ones at a cost of $75-$100. I was very upset with this and left. I looked this problem up on the internet and see that hundreds of people have had the same problem. It seems that ford had a cheaper lug nut produced with the nut being covered with a cheaper material used to make the cap that covers the nut. Moisture gets in between the two metals causing condensation and " swelling". I now have covers actually falling off the nut. My question is: why, if there are so many problems that have been reported, why hasn't the problem been resolved/ recalled? why hasn't the nhtsa gotten involved? we do pay taxes for gov. Agencies to oversee safety issues such as this. Or better yet, why hasn't ford stepped up and taken care of this problem?i am thinking of buying a chevy now. They don't have "swullen" lug nuts.
