Takata inflators. I have been notified by ford that there has been a recall, i have called different dealers to schedule a time to perform the work needed to fix the problem and all they have told me is that they do not have the materials needed to complete the work. The person i spoke to said that they will notify me by phone or text. This has been going on for over a year now.

Takata recall. Passenger airbag warning light has been going on for over a year. Ford notified me for a recall june 2016, but they still have no solution. Notice from tk holdings inc. Suggests possible defective ammonium nitrate propellant that could rupture, with risk of injury or death. 1.5 years is too long for ford to respond to dangerous situation.

I called ford serramonte service center at 999 serramonte blvd., colma, ca 94014 and i was told i had a pre-notice and they do not have the parts yet, (air bags). Just scared to drive my car after receiving the notice

Takata recallwe have not receive a letter requesting us to bring in our vehicle to have the takata airbag replaced.since takata airbags are a "major" safety issue where human lives are at risk, i would believe this would have been taken care last year.i want in writing from ford telling us to take our vehicle to our nearest ford dealership asap.

Takata recall it has been more than 18 months. I called ford my dealer sold me the car. They keep telling me still no air bags. More than 18 months. They say ford will let me know, but on date when.

Received notice of safety recall nhtsa 16v-384. Have received letters that part is on order over last two + years. Dealership is delaying fixing problem. Does anyone hold manufactures responsible for fixing a known problem in a timely manner?

Takata recall - i received notification of an active recall for the airbag inflator in my car in june 2016 (nhtsa recall number 16v384).. However, the recall is incomplete with no remedy available. How am i supposed to protect myself or sell my car with no fix for this active recall?

Since i first received the mail telling me there was a recall on my air bags in 2016, i have been calling the ford dealership to get them replaced, but they keep telling me that ford has not provided them with the replacement parts. Now i'm afraid to drive my car - especially on the highway.

Takata recall.received a recall letter from ford corporation, july 2016, regarding the passenger airbag; however, to date, there is still no remedy, per the local dealership and ford corporation's website.i live in a state identified as a high-risk area.nothing has happened yet, but this is ridiculous that we must roll the dice every time we get behind the wheel!

Takata recall.psan inflator is defective and could rupture, creating a risk of personal injury or death.we reside in a warmer part of the u.s. And were told by ford motor company when i called them previously that our repair should be expedited because we are at higher risk for injury (the inflator malfunctions more quickly in warmer climates).

Takata recall i have made repeated visits to my local ford dealer and they keep saying they have no replacement parts for the airbag. Its also come back next month. Now their solution is to not sit in the passenger seat. Really? according to your data ford has the lowest completion rate for replacing air bags, by a significant difference. Why is this? please help me get my air bag replaced.

Was notified of the june 1 2016 recall.i have asked dealer to address recall but they cannot because of parts unavailability.it is now 2/2017 and do think that 8 months is enough time to address this problem, and it seems ford is delaying putting their customers safety in jeopardy.nhtsa recall number: opens new window takes away from vin lookup section> 16v384 recall date: june 1, 2016manufacturer recall number: 16s26

I have contacted the dealer several times since receiving the recall notice and i have been told that they do not have the parts to make the repair. The dealer says that the ford motor corporation has not given them direction on how to handle the issue.

Takata recallthe parts not being available for replacement is going on for entirely too long. We have been told there may be significant bodily injury or even death due to an exploding airbag, but nothing has been done for 2 years. Also, it appears other car manufacturers are getting parts, while ford is not. It seems the most at risk cars should be getting airbags replaced first, not those whose manufacturer has the most "pull!" it appears no one cares who gets hurt! i cannot find any way to complain to takata, and ford says their hands are tied. Furthermore, it appears i may not disable the airbag, without permission from the fed. Gov. And at my own expense. I feel violated and am appalled that this can be happening, never mind for the length of time this is going on.

Takata recall i have been trying to get this issue fixed for the past 2 years. I have called dealerships and the ford corporate main office as well. After calling the main office and opening a claim, i received a notice in the mail that my parts are now available. I called the dealership right away and they told me that parts are not available for my air bag. Every time i speak with someone to get this issue fixed, they tell me to just not let anyone sit in my passenger seat. That is not an option for me because i have 4 children (2 that are teenagers) as long as i don't get in an accident, my car is fine but i don't want to wait to see what's going to happen if i do and my children are in the car!

Takata recallit's been 2 years since the recall and ford is now saying replacement parts will be available "spring of 2018."their remedy is for no one to sit in the front passenger seat, which is ridiculous.this is an unreasonable remedy and unreasonable amount of time for them to address this recall.

Takata recall. Front passenger airbag under safety recall since june 1, 2016. This is over 16 months since the recall without a remedy. It is unsafe for people to ride in the front passenger seat. This is unacceptable. None of the ford dealers in the area have a solution.

Takata recall - i contacted a local ford dealer in summer when i got the recall notice.they did not know when they would have parts in stock.i've since received the bankrupcy notice.checking the listed website showed my car was indeed on the list needing the airbag replacement parts. I called the ford dealer again today.they still have no information on when they would get the replacement parts, other than saying they heard takata got some funding and are legally required to supply the replacement parts.

Takata recallthe recall was issued 6/1/2016, and there has been no remedy yet from ford.i believe it has been plenty of time for them to come up with a remedy.i received a notice today about takata corporation has declared bankruptcy.that should not stop a remedy for consumers who bought these cars on good faith.

Takata recall. It now almost a year since i received a recall notice for airbags. I have never receive any further information. I have called ford and complained but all i get is "the parts are not available." they need to make a greater effort.

Takata recall campaign number 19s01. In response to recall-vehilce was repaired by hammonahasset ford, madison, ct. On the way back home after picking up the vehicle from the recall the air bag light illuminated. Alsonoticed that glove box was not aligned correctly and the dashboard compartment wasnotaligned as well. The dashboardwas also not re-installed correctly .a second appointment was made and the service department advised that the vehicle was reporting code b0028. I was advised that i needed to pay a $200 fee to have the compute checked to determine the issue. The dealer was advised that there was no issue with the airbag light when the vehicle was brought in for the recall and they denied to correct the situation claiming that the code was not associated with the airbag recall. I researched the code and it came back to a faulty passenger airbag or wiring issue. A complaint was also filed with ford with no return response. It appears that this is not just a coincidence as the error code is related to the passenger srs. Now no one can sit safely in the right front and right rear passenger side of the vehicle as the entire right side srs is disabled. No response from dealer to date and second call made to ford headquarters.

Takata recall : my spouse and i have been waiting on parts to come out for this recall since mid-2016, about two years ago, and received a letter in the mail as late as december 2017 saying that there has been a delay with the replacement parts' production. This is an absurd amount of time to have to wait for a safety replacement part. It harms the resale value of our vehicle and will potentially harm my wife, who often sits in the front seat passenger seat. Let's get some regulatory authority and force ford to respect their drivers' safety and time!

Takata recall - 1 year and counting!the dealer (schultz ford in nanuet, ny) still has no replacement parts and will not have them anytime soon.if we want a rental car we must put out $1300 per month and get reimbursed 4-6 weeks later, a financial hardship.i thought the class action suit settled this.

The blower motor resistor harness has too much power going into it causing several vehicles not only mine to have a melted wire and connector replaced several times and it keeps occurring definitely a fire hazard. It started and january and it still is a problem with my car after replacing several times.

When decelerating, my car sometimes "jerks", accompanied by multiple warning lights and--dangerously--a total loss of engine power. The car goes dead, in the middle of the road, and has to be restarted by removing the key and reinserting it. This could cause a collision both from behind (by someone who doesn't realize that the car has just "died"--especially at night), as well as the "jerk" potentially causing me to collide with someone in front.my dealership told me that ford had "put out a bulletin" regarding this issue, which called for the installation of a new wiring harness. And yet--inexplicably given that this is a safety hazard--this apparently "known" issue is not treated as a recall, with me being charged more than $500 for parts and labor. I've seen numerous reports of people with the same issue, many with less mileage than myself (97,000), so i'm shocked that a recall hasn't happened, especially given the danger that this issue poses to the car's occupants and those nearby.

We were driving in the freeway the car went from 80 to zero it would not go. It stalled in the fast lane almost causing a chain reaction. The vechile has been 'fixed' over 7 times. The dealership cannot figure out what's wrong. Many people online have had the same problems some people have died from accidents. This is very unsafe . Ford says they have recalled some vechiles but not all. They even suggested because it was older. My mother has a 2017 hybrid and is experiencing the same thing as me. The car is not safe at all! if someone doesnt make the fix it many people could be hurt

While driving veh flashes "stop slowly check charging system"then begins to slow down by itself or wont even move if you are already stopped/parked. This has happened while driving on the interstate barely having time to pull over and stop out of traffic before it cuts off!!! it also happened while waiting at a red light and would not move had to be towed home! this is very dangerous especially on highways and interstates that may not have a shoulder or median to pull over at that time due to crossing a bridge etc.

Sister was driving a 2011 ford fusion hybrid home from work on the freeway going about 80mph as she lost power steering. She went up an embankment and flew threw the air and hit a pillar. We know advance trac light was coming on the day before that from her google activity. She will never be able to tell us because she died in the crash that was cause from the power steering loss on 8/29/17. She was 17 yrs old. This is a tragic loss for our family and is not ok for ford to sell cars like this. Someone do something!!!!

I got a "stop safely now; check charging station" alert while on the freeway and the car lost power.this happened several times.the dealer reported that the egr valve was blocked and replaced it.several days later, the "stop safely now" alert/loss of power happened after the repair.the dealer then reported these error codes: p0a0a, p1a10, p1a14, p1a0a, concern with high voltage interlock circuit, cited tsb 12-05-14, installed overlay wire harness.

I am contacting you regarding a fatal car accident that my sister was just killed in on 8/29/17.she drove a 2011 ford fusion hybrid.my mother did not know about the issues many people have with these model cars. She would have never bought the car if she did. My sister was driving home from work when witnesses said that for reasons unknown to them out of no where my sisters car veered to the right onto an overpass embankment on i-580 at the 132 over pass crossing just west ofvernalis, ca. She then went over the entire embankment and became airborne for 127 feet before smashing into the concrete pillar that supports the 132 bridge.she was killed instantly and pronounced deceased at 4:10 pm.in the california highway patrol collision report it says that the cause of the accident was an unsafe right turn.but there is no road to turn on, so why would someone turn there? she did not try to turn, we believe that her steering wheel veered to the right and locked up on her making her lose control of her car. This is because through 2010 to 2013 ford fusion models have a major issue with the epas steering suddenly going out and kicking the manual steering in. In 2015 there was a recall issued for the epas steering. When i checked my sisters vin # to her car, it lists 2 recalls, one being the epas steering and the other being the airbag recall that was a major issue as well.we are not concerned with this being the cause of my sisters accident. We are concerned with the epas steering and have done extensive research on the recall, enough to know that this is what malfunctioned in her vehicle and caused her to crash, killing her.

The brakes suddenly became ineffective and required a lot of pressure to bring the car to a stop. The braking light system came on when this happened. When the car was turned off on again it seemed to reset itself. I tried to get the brake software updated by frontier ford in santa clara and they would not do it without charging me. They said it was out of warranty and it was not covered. This is despite the fact that this problem has been covered in the past and there have been many complaints about it.

The contact owns a 2011 ford fusion hybrid. The contact stated that while coming to a stop, the vehicle stalled and various warning lights illuminated. The contact mentioned that the vehicle was able to start after multiple attempts. The failure recurred intermittently. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the electronic cooling pump failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 51,000.

While driving between 40-50 mph the vehicle shows an error stating "stop safely now" and "check battery charging system." complete loss of acceleration at this point, so going uphill is very dangerous. Stopping the car, turning it off and restarting the vehicle can manage 1-2 miles before the error happens again. Ford dealership said id was a control circuit overlay or harness, cost of repair is $400.00. Dealership claims this is a regular wear item and not due to driver error.

1. The 2011 ford fusion hybrid is equipped with a power point providing 110 volts alternating current (vac) to a 3-prong receptacle located in the rear seat area of the center console. The 110 vac power point is equipped with a safety cap and a safety twist tab that provide protection from inserting any object into the power point other than the 110 vac electrical device plug.2. A child leaving our vehicle had a foot entangled with a 3-prong cord connected to the power point, resulting in disassembly of the safety cap from the body of the power point.the disassembled power point exposes two brass electrical contacts with 110 vac.a person attempting to reassemble the safety cap with the power point body while the engine is running may contact the high voltage contacts, resulting in a burn injury or death by electrocution.3. The power point should be recalled and replaced with a similar device that cannot be disassembled.

Lost power steering and the advance track system. The steering wheel was to hard to turn for my wife and made the car undriveable. It was trailered to a dealer for repair. This a common problem for this year and very costly to fix.

Power steering failure after warning as vehicle was started. I was able to drive with superhuman effort directly to the nearest ford dealer in escondido, california where we were when the incident occurred. Internet sources indicate that this failure is common and we identified a recall related to the issue.the dealer replaced the power steering rack and refused to apply the known issue recall.the dealer stated that although our vehicle was manufactured in the hermosillo plant during the time period stated in the recall, our vin did not register the recall.

Power steering and advancetrac failed during driving. The steering wheel suddenly became very hard to turn. I barely could avoid a collision.in an earlier event, the hybrid system malfunctioned and the car accelerated with maximum electric power despite the foot being off the accelerator. The vehicle could be stopped and and worked again normally after turning off the ignition key.

I was driving right before entering the highway when my brakes suddenly went out and the service advanctrac and power steering lights came on. I stopped my car at the light and proceeded to turn it off and then back on. The problem seems to have went away; however, this is not the first time this has happened.

The wrench symbol was displayed on the control panel when the vehicle lost speed. It felt like it stalled out. Then the engine light came on. The car has very low miles on it and is practically brand new. I did not feel safe.

My dash warning lights for the brake system, advanced traction control, brake failure, and check engine light came on all of a sudden and my brake pedal went straight to the floor when i was coming to a stop... Almost causing an accident. My brake pads and rotors are all in good shape. My tires are in great shape as well. There was no warning before the pedal went straight to the floor.

The contact owns a 2011 ford fusion hybrid. While driving 40 mph, the vehicle hesitated without warning. In addition, while driving the vehicle to the dealer, the steering wheel seized intermittently. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer (kruse motor sales ltd, 515 broadway st, baraboo,wi, 53913) where it was diagnosed that the coolant motor and power steering failed and needed to be replaced. The coolant motor was replaced along with the spark plugs; however, the power steering was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and made aware of the failure and informed the contact that there was a recall under nhtsa campaign number: 15v340000 (steering), but the vin was not included. The manufacturer informed the contact to have the vehicle taken to a ford dealer for diagnostic testing. The local ford dealer was notified. The failure mileage was approximately 110,000.

While driving from los angeles to phoenix in the summer, the car suddenly flashed a red warning light, and shut the engine off with the car moving at freeway speed. After pulling to the side of the road, and turning the engine off and on again, the car gave no indication that something had happened. It shut off again ten miles later, and again, and again. I turned around and brought the car home and took it to a dealer. They replaced the hybrid computer, but it did the same thing again driving to las vegas a few months later. The dealer cleaned the throttle body, and said everything was good. It has since done it again and again, sometimes just merging onto the freeway near my home. Repeatedly, the car has lost power - usually on the freeway, and often with my family in the car. I try not to let my wife drive it at this point, because i'm worried that she'll either get stranded with the kids, or get hit by someone when the car shuts off on the freeway. We no longer drive it significant distances.

When decelerating, my car sometimes "jerks", accompanied by multiple warning lights and--dangerously--a total loss of engine power. While driving on the freeway the car flashes yellow triangle, wrench and the stop safely now. The car loses all power causing you to try to drift to the side of the freeway. It has been in the repair shop for 5 months with certified hybrid mechanics.was told it was the transmission, that was repaired. The throttle, repaired. Harness wiring replaced along with a new battery. This is an ongoing problem with no resolution. The safety of not just myself, but my family and others have been put at risk. I would like to speak with someone regarding this issue. The car has 125,000 miles on it.

The contact owns a 2011 ford fusion hybrid. While driving various speeds, the vehicle stalled on several occasions. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 29,237. Updated 01/31/2017*ct

Vehicle did a hard stall in the middle of an intersection on three separate occasions.it completely shut off with no warning.the first two incidents happened in the space of a few minutes.after the first incident the car was turned back on and there was no indication anything was wrong.continued to try and drive it a short distance to get back to the parking lot.it than stalled again turning into the parking lot and a battery light came on.battery was replaced but the vehicle stalled again a few weeks later during a turn with oncoming traffic.no warning, it jerked hard than just shut off.i'm not sure at this time what is causing it to stall.it seems to be happening when switching from battery power to engine power while making turns.leaving the car stuck in the middle of the intersection with no engine power, power brakes or steering and oncoming traffic.

Normal driving in 55 mph zone car suddenly would not accelerate past 40 mph. Noticed wrench light illuminated. Turned car around and proceeded toward home. Engine revved at stopping but could not get out of way of fast traffic. Almost hit in rear several times. Flasher emergency lights necessary. Googled issue to see that it is a defect and nhtsa has decided to let ford handle resolution. Fox in charge of the hen house again. Thanks again to another government consumer protection agency that will not protect us. Called ford corporate customer service and of course my vehicle is not part of the ford "customer satisfaction" repair. Why am i not surprised?

While driving at highway speeds the car lost power.after pulling over was only able to go at slow speeds.no or limited throttle response.

The contact owns a 2011 ford fusion hybrid. The contact stated that while attempting to park, the vehicle surged forward without the accelerator pedal being depressed, causing the vehicle to crash into a guard rail. The vehicle was not included in the nhtsa campaign number: 14e028000 (equipment). The air bags failed to deploy. A police report was filed. The contact stated that the front seat passenger sustained injuries to the head and face that required medical attention. The vehicle was towed to independent mechanic but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 36,000.

Repetitive headlight low-beam bulbs appearing to be burnt out; mechanic said that the 'connector' is disintegrating.third new bulb was installed 3 days ago; since then when headlights are on low-beam, the headlights comes on and within minutes goes out and then within minutes goes on again; etc.so to have headlights we need to run on high beam.this occurs at all times when using headlights whether the vehicle is stationary or in motion.

The contact owns a 2011 ford fusion hybrid. When attempting to start the vehicle, it failed to start. The dealer diagnosed that the fuel system failed. A fuel induction service was needed, including tube assembly fuel. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the failure was directly related to nhtsa campaign number: 15v793000 (fuel system gasoline). The vin was not included in the recall. The approximate failure mileage was 31,000. Updated 05/19/17*lj*as

While driving on free way from columbus to pittsburgh, wrench symbol appeared on the dash. After a while, car lost its transmission power in the middle of the highway with an indication of "stop safely now" on dash board with big red triangle signal.

After filling up my tank, i proceeded to exit out of a quiktrip parking lot, back onto the street, when my brakes failed to stop the car. Luckily enough, this did not cause an accident and i was able to pull the car over in a nearby parking lot. After pulling over the service advancetrac light came on, in addition to the check brake system light. I checked the fluids, which all seemed to be fine. However, the brakes would not stop the vehicle unless pressed completely to the floor. This drastically affected the stop time which would definitely lead to an increased risk of an accident. I ended up having to get the vehicle towed as i did not want to risk driving it home.

The contact owns a 2011 ford fusion hybrid. While driving approximately 60 mph, the transmission malfunctioned and the vehicle lost all power. The failure recurred several times. The dealer was contacted. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vin was not available. The failure mileage was 61,170.

I was driving right before entering the highway when my brakes suddenly went out and the service advanctrac and power steering lights came on. I stopped my car at the light and proceeded to turn it off and then back on. The problem seems to have went away; however, this is not the first time this has happened.

8-way power seat (driver side) became stuck in the very highest adjustment and would not move down.very uncomfortable to sit in and drive.electric motor makes noise but will not move seat down.

The contact owns a 2011 ford fusion hybrid. The contact stated that the abs module had a glitch that caused the brakes to fail while the vehicle was in motion. The abs indicator would illuminate when the failure occurred. The contact stated that the system would reset when the engine was turned off for five minutes. The vehicle was taken to ford crestview (4060 s ferdon blvd, crestview, fl 32536, (850) 682-2721) where it was currently being diagnosed. The manufacturer stated that there were no recalls and referred the contact to nhtsa. The failure mileage was 99,000.

In a shopping plaza went to stop at a stop sign and brakes became spongy and car was very difficult to stop where normally expected. When finally stopped it seemed to want to lurch ahead dashboard had a red " brake service" warning light and then a number a number of yellow warnings appeared. Happened again at another stop sign on my way home. Drove to the nearest dealer where car is serviced and they pulled a code c1012 memory continuous code. They could not recreate the problem and released the car back to me. In sep 2015 car had software updated after a " tool" kept appearing. After you turned off car they brakes seemed to work ok. I'm concerned if this happens on freeway.

Brake failure..ford fusion a.b.s... I was exiting a parking lot at approximately 20mph for a right hand turn at a stop sign. As i approached the stop sign, iwent to slow down and stop, and the brake pedal went all the way to the floor-the car did not slow or stop. I grabbed the emergency brake and pulled it up, and the car still did not slow or stop. I went beyond the stop sign and rolled into a city street. There was oncoming traffic so i accelerated to be ahead of the approaching traffic. I very slowly drove the 1 mile to my home.the abs light, brake light, and check engine light were all on. The vehicle was towed to a ford dealer. The brakes checked out ok,however, the a.b.s. System failed. The a.b.s. Module and a.b.s. Control were faulty. The same model parts replaced the faulty parts!!!when will the brakes fail again?? only 63,000 miles on the vehicle. The ford service advisor stated, "the brake failure was due to nothing you did". This was a very frightening experience and thank heavens i was not driving faster or on a freeway. I know of 2 other people that have had similar experiences (brakes to the floor and not stopping) with ford fusion brake failure. I have encouraged both to report to the nhtsa, however both are fleet cars and they are not the owners.

I was driving home from work going about 35 mph on a 2 lane road and traffic in front of me suddenly braked hard so i did also.i hear the abs make a noise and then several warning lights came on and i didn't have any brakes.i swerved to the side of the road to avoid an accident.i realized that the brake was very spongy and if depressed to the floor i had minimal brakes.i turned the car off and then on and the condition had cleared and my brakes were normal.

Our 2011 ford fusion hybrid has had three potentially dangerous brake malfunctions. Each time, the brake pedal feels as if it has gone down to the floor. The first two incidents ' one in feb. 2015, and one in dec. 2016 -- were very similar. Both times we were driving slowly in a parking lot, but when the driver tried to stop, lights on the dash lit up, the brake pedal felt as if it went to the floor, and the brakes did not engage normally. Both times, we took the car to the dealership and were told that computer codes indicated a faulty brake booster. So far, we've had the brake booster replaced twice. After the second brake booster was installed, the car worked fine for two days. Then, we were driving slowly in our neighborhood, and, when my husband pressed the brake pedal, it felt as if it went to the floor again. This time there was no indication from lights on the dash. The car did not stop until after we had gone through a stop sign. We had the car towed back to the dealership. This time, they re-bled the brakes and then replaced the hcu. The dealership told us that the brakes are now repaired. But one of the troubling things about this problem is that the car will drive well for a period of time. Then, for no apparent reason, the brake pedal will seem to go to the floor and the brakes won't respond normally.after our second malfunction, my husband tried turning off the ignition and then re-starting the car, and the brakes seemed to function again, too. There are reports about a computer glitch on ford fusion hybrids built before october 2009. Drivers experienced problems similar to ours:http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/news/2010/02/ford-issues-prompt-fix-for-fusion-hybrid-brakes/index.htmthis computer glitch was supposed to have been fixed. But could something similar be affecting a 2011 fusion hybrid?

The vehicle shows an error on ignition stating "check advancetrack" and the abs light comes on. When driving the vehicle in this condition it has manual brakes, and they must be pressed to the floor to engage. Turning off the car and re-starting it sometimes clears the error and i am able to drive the car normally, with abs and highly responsive brakes. Ford dealership says it's caused by the failure of the abs module and the hydraulic control unit (hcu), which they claim are normal wear items not caused by driver and the cost of repair is $1,800.00.

All lights on dash such as abs, traction control, wrench come on. Have no breaks. Have to push petal to the floor and stay hard on it. After a few days to a week you get in the car and its like it never happened. This has happen 10+ times in 6 months

Driving in city traffic, probably about 25 mph and went to brake as someone merged into my lane but pedal went to the floor with no resistance. Warning lights went off on the dash regarding brake failure and abs and advance trac. I was able to pull the emergency brake and move into the middle turn lane to avoid hitting the car in front of me. From that point on brakes ceased to function reliably--sometimes jerking to an almost stop and then nothing, sometimes just nothing, had to continue to use the emergency brake to get home and to the dealership in the am and it is basically a miracle that i made it safely. This is clearly not a mechanical part wearing out--like brake pads etc. But rather some kind of computer failure that happens without warning and is extremely dangerous.

The contact owns a 2011 ford fusion hybrid. While driving approximately 30 mph, the brake pedal traveled to the floorboard when it was depressed and the abs warning indicator illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to roush ford (located at 5575 keim circle, columbus, oh 43228, 614-888-333) where it was diagnosed that the brake booster failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that the failure was related to nhtsa campaign number: 19v904000 (service brakes, hydraulic); however, the recall stopped at models manufactured in 2010. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 58,710.

The contact owns a 2011 ford fusion hybrid. The contact stated that while attempting to stop, the brake pedal became very hard to depress. The driver used the parking brakes to stop the vehicle. During the failure, the abs warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to bill knight ford located at 9607 south memorial dr, tulsa, ok 74133, to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the abs module failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure however, no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 86,000.

My 2011 fusion only has 61k miles. All of a sudden, couple of days ago, the break would go all the way to the floor and the car would barely stop. I had to use the parking brake to stop.luckily, i wasin a parking lot and trying to pull out of a slot when this happened. The dash had the wrench symbol and also brake system warning and service advancetrac message.i barely managed to stop and turned off the engine. And about an hour later, when i started the vehicle the warning messages went away and the vehicle behaved normally. Without taking chances,i took the vehicle to a local ford dealership and explained clearly what happened. They ran some diagnostics and determined that the abs ecu and the abs hcu unit need to be replaced (cost $3,125).what really appalls me is that a vehicle with only 61k miles would completely lose its braking ability and put the occupants and the people on the road in serious jeopardy.either i could have been killed/injured in a serious accident if i was on a highway or i could have easily run over a pedestrian or a cyclist on a city street. Makes me shiver thinking of these situations.

Was driving on the highway about 65-70 mph e-break light came on and car turned off traction control try breaking break pads where very soft and had the felling like you could not stop very scary ford should recall those cars and fix it very dangerous or deadly

Red dash light showed brake problem. Brakes failed entirely.travewling on streetless than 10 mph. Car was towed tp dealer.a module was replaced.two weeks later red abs brake lightwent on, brake pedal went to floor to stop. Traveling on city street less than 10 mph. Car was towed to dealer.

While moving on a dry, asphalt, city road, approaching a stop sign, the brake pedal was depressed, but the brakes did not engage at all.the emergency brake was applied to stop vehicle.then slowly moving forward and retesting brakes produced the same result.then turned off ignition and restarted ignition.then normal braking function returned.took car to a mechanic and no corrective taken (everything tested ok).incidentally, left front and rear tires were recently swapped.so tread wear was different between left and right tires on each axle.

Brake warning lights came on and total loss of brakes. This has happened twice in two weeks. Has been to a ford dealer to have the problem looked at they found nothing, told me to drive the car and if it happens again they would put the car on anelectronic tester. The problem did show up again on october 26,2014,i will be taking the car back to the ford dealer.

Without warning, brakes seemed to fail. Brake peddle had to be pushed further down with more force to stop the vehicle. Several warning lights related to service and brakes lit up on the dashboard. After turning the car off and then restarting the car about 20 min later, the brakes were fine and working normally again. Dealer diagnosed that electronic abs module intermittently fails. Stated it could fail again without warning

When driving up an iced hill, tcs light flashed, indicating loss of tire traction. However, after fully losing grip, the braking system disabled itself and the vehicle ended up sliding down with only the basic braking system available to try and stop. Emergency brake was applied to no avail. Tcs, tcs off, brake, and abs indication lights were on. The tcs was not off prior to trying to drive up the hill. Vehicle health report run on car indicated a system failure in the car and requests that i bring it into a dealership immediately. This happened at 2 am in the morning when no dealerships are open.

When driving through town at 25 mph a warning sound and text "service steering system now" came on the dash and steering was very difficult, requiring all my arm strength to steer the car at low speeds. I was able to park without incident. I turned the car off then back on . The same message appeared. I drove the car home, then the next day to the ford dealer with no power steering and lots of physical effort to keep the car on the road. Had this occurred the previous day when i was on i-66i in northern va , it could have been very bad. Why would this happen in a 3 year old car that costs 35k?

Check power steering and advtrc lights come on steering wheel became stiff and car is undrive-able if this was to happen at highway speed you be in big trouble crash no question lucky i was pulling in to walmart when this happened but car is undriveable tell fix

Power steering failure . I lost power steering completely. Car only has 76.181 miles on it.brought into ford dealer and they said it was a power steering failure. Cost of repair 1500.00 plus tax to replace.its at keyser & miller ford inc , collegeville pa to replace the whole power steering. Lot of complaints on this issue.iswhy isn't there a recall on this.....??? i shouldn't have to pay for this complete replacement

Power steering assist faultthis has happened on 3 different occasions and resets after it has set for a period of time. The steering is near impossible to turning. It has only happened upon start up of the car. The car can not be driven while this warning is active.

The contact owns a 2011 ford fusion.the contact stated while driving approximately 35 mph, the service steering now warning message illuminated as the steering wheel seized and excessive force was required.the contact merged over to the emergency lane and shut the vehicle off.the vehicle was restarted and the steering resumed normal operation. However, the failure recurred multiple times.the vehicle was taken to the dealer for a diagnosis and they stated that the rack and pinion needed to be replaced.the dealer reprogrammed the electrical power steering but the failure persisted.the manufacturer was notified of the failure.the approximate failure mileage was 62,000. The vin was unavailable.

While driving 35-40 mph in the city, the service advancetrac and service power steering now lights came on as well as tcs off and tcs on indicators and it was becoming harder to drive. Once i reached my destination and i restarted the car i had no power steering assist. This is the second occasion. First time my boyfriend was driving 11/20/15 and described the same occurances. It was taken to a ford dealer ft wayne indiana and was told it was the steering gear. This was replaced and ive learned that its been part of a recall. So $1700 later it was fine. Picked up my vehicle dec 1 then the second occurance was just 10 days later on dec 11. Taken to the dealer once again. The dealer cleared the codes and recalibrated and power steering was back but now im told the control arms caused it this time.

The contact owns a 2011 ford fusion hybrid. When the vehicle was started, "steering assist fault" appeared on the screen. In addition, the electronic stability control warning indicator started to flash. The vehicle was towed to larry h miller ford (11595 6th ave, lakewood, co 80215) where it was diagnosed that the electronic vacuum pump needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 58,900.

The car began to pull to one side intermittently. It was easy to correct but when i relaxed my grip on the steering wheel it turned left. This occurred intermittently since, sometimes several times in a few minutes, sometimes only a few times per week. This seems to happen more often when i apply the brake. I took the car to the ford dealer on may 17, 2014. They were unable to find anything in the computer or replicate the problem while driving the car. The problem continues intermittently. At present it has only been a minor issue but i believe it would be dangerous if the pull was stronger or it took more effort to correct the steering.

I was driving to work and a warning "service power steering" and "service advance trac" came on and the vehicle was then extremely difficult to steer. I am glad i was not going around a high speed curve.

The contact owns a 2011 ford fusion hybrid. While operating the vehicle, the steering wheel seized and became very difficult to maneuver. The "service power steering" and "service advance trac" messages displayed as the failure occurred. The failure was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer and local dealer (adamson ford in birmingham, al) were notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 88,000.

The contact owns a 2011 ford fusion hybrid. While attempting to drive the vehicle, the power steering failed to operate and the power steering fault indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated that the power steering control module needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was also contacted and stated that the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 15v340000 (steering). The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.

The contact owns a 2011 ford fusion hybrid. While driving, the advancetrac and power steering assist warning indicators illuminated. Also, the power steering malfunctioned. The vehicle was taken to wynne ford (1020 w mercury blvd, hampton, va 23666, (757) 838-3673) and the contact was informed that there was no recall for the power steering failure. The vehicle was driven home without being diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer stated that there was no recall and provided a case number. The failure mileage was 128,800.

Lost power steering and the advance track system. The steering wheel was to hard to turn for my wife and made the car undriveable. It was trailered to a dealer for repair. This a common problem for this year and very costly to fix.

The contact owns a 2011 ford fusion. The contact stated that the steering wheel seized and the power steering assist fault message illuminated. The failure recurred numerous times. The dealer was not made aware of the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 84,000.

The contact owns a 2011 ford fusion hybrid. The contact stated that the steering wheel seized while being operated at various speeds. The power steering fault warning indicator illuminated. Fred beans ford of boyertown (525 pa-100, bechtelsville, pa) was contacted, but the failure could not be diagnosed. The steering gear assembly was replaced at the same dealer approximately three times. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The failure mileage was approximately 98,000.

Steering the vehicle became harder over the weekend.not significantly, but somewhat more difficult than normal.it felt like i was fighting the steering some.it wanted to do one thing and i wanted it to do something else. Before i was able to get it in the shop, the steering began to catch each time the wheel was turned in the opposite direction.it did not affect directional control, but was an annoyance.the steering wheel pressure required to turn remained the same as after the initial incident.when taken to the shop, they indicated the electronic steering control was making a noise and possibly causing the catching and recommended i take it to the dealer.the dealer replaced the entire rack and pinion system and the associated electronic steering control at significant cost.this is the first time i have ever had steering issues on any car and most of my vehicles are not replaced until close to 200,000 miles.i researched the issue and found that nhtsa is investigating the steering on the fusion and want to provide this information for the investigation.

The contact owns a 2011 ford fusion hybrid. While driving 50 mph, the steering wheel seized without warning while the contact was switching lanes. The vehicle was pulled over to a shoulder lane where the failure was still present. The contact owned a diagnostic machine and the codes indicated that the power steering control module needed to be replaced. The local dealer (mcclary ford, 1104 us hwy 72 e, athens, al 35611) was contacted and stated that an appointment for diagnostic testing needed to be scheduled. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer stated that the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 15v340000 (steering). The failure mileage was approximately 126,000.

I was driving right before entering the highway when my brakes suddenly went out and the service advanctrac and power steering lights came on. I stopped my car at the light and proceeded to turn it off and then back on. The problem seems to have went away; however, this is not the first time this has happened.

Power steering warning message and advancetrac assist both became illuminated after normal driving. This is the 3rd time this has occurred. The first was just over 38000 miles, the second at 75000 miles and now this week at 89000 miles. After turning off vehicle and turning back on, the indicator messages went from just a warning to the whole system becoming disabled. Power steering is completely off and steering is nearly impossible. We were 200 miles from home on a holiday weekend knowing it would be difficult to get towing so we decided to make the drive without power steering. A very dangerous situation for us. Ford knows about these problems and there are thousands of complaints online. A recall has to be made. The first time it happened i took it to the dealer and they wanted $3200 for an entire steering system. My car was only 2000 miles above warranty and they wouldn't cover it. So i had them reset the code and the steering began working again for another three years without incident. Please protect the consumer and the public's safety by making ford recall the fusion. It clearly has a steering flaw. Thank you.

The contact owns a 2011 ford fusion hybrid.the contact stated while driving approximately 40 mph, the steering wheel became hard to turn.the contact coasted over to the emergency lane and noticed that the "power steering assist failure" and "traction control" warning lights were illuminated. The failure was experienced multiple times. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The approximate failure mileage was69,000.

The power steering assist stops working and it is almost impossible to steer this has happened on 2 occasions in the last 3 months. The dash displays a power assist fault but there are no obd codes. This had a recall which i had the car in for and since it has happened a total of 3 times since. These have all occurred at low speed and the only way to clear it is to turn the car off and restart.

Was at dr appointment with my son, backed up and the steering power service light popped up! lost all power steering when driving to get it home, could of died!!! i called ford to tow car, and they said my warranty ran out 1,000 miles ago...... There are sooo many complaints that this should be a recall to save lives!!!!! i will never buy a ford again! part costs about $1400-1600??????? i plan on trading this car i loved in!

While attempting to park the car, the power steering froze. With great effort i was barely able to turn the wheel and complete the parking. After turning the engine off, for some unknown reason, i turned the engine on again and the power steering was operating normally. The next day i drove to the nearest ford dealership and the steering was normal. The repair charge for replacing the electronic steering mechanism was $1704.i have since learned (via google) that this problem is common in ford vehicles that have switched from hydraulic to electronic power steering. Had the power steering locked while i was switching lanes in heavy traffic, or attempting to pass on a two lane road, i might not have been able to write this note. Clearly, a recall is in order.

Service power steering now and servicetract message displayed, steering wheel was very stiff and i couldn't steer car. My car had to be towed to a ford dealership and they told me problem was due to a pre-existing defect.

Started car, went to back up and noticed very quickly i had no power steering - power steering assist fault error message displayed. I am currently unable to use my ford fusion due to the lack of power steering. It would be hazardous for me to try and drive my fusion at this time.

Indicator light "wrench" came on to inform me of an issue.then shortly thereafter, a light came on that said "service accutrac" (traction control system). I took the car to the dealer who then told me that the power steering gear had to be replaced and that the traction control had to be reprogrammed. I'm concerned because i see a history of power steering recalls on many ford models between 2010 to today and wonder if this is a recurring pattern with the 2011 fusion hybrid model, that is not yet "realized".

Steering:15s18: 03/06/2017, spoke to bemond of ford motor customer service dept.he informed me there is a recall of this vehicle but ford would not authorize a repair unless the car lost the power steering and changed to manual steering.i offered that sudden loss of power steering while traveling interstate speeds could cause an acccident and/or death of occupants.since ford motor knows about this problem they should authorize the repair before it shows symptons.

The contact owns a 2011 ford fusion hybrid. While driving at approximately 40 mph, the steering wheel seized and the traction control and an unknown warning indicator illuminated. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.

Driving and the trs light came on we came to a stop and the power steering switched over to manual.

Drivers side interior door handle broke when i went to exit the car. This is a wide spread problem that has been reported frequently on the owner forms. Anywhere from 10k to 30k miles the handles break leaving with either outing the window down to use the outside handle to open the door or crawling out the other side. This could be a safety concern if you needed to exit quickly from either an accident, fire or other immediate problem. The replacement parts haven't been redesigned and brake after the same usage.

Vehicle was stationary, i closed the front driver door and the latch broke and the door would not stay closed. I had to physically hold the door shut while driving until it was repaired at a cost of over 400 dollars. I noticed this part has been recalled on the 2013 and 2014 models. Any chance that the 2011 models will be included in this recall?

At 38,000 miles just over the manufacture warranty had expired the driver's door inside handle no longer opens the door from the inside. The way you must exit the vehicle is to roll down the window and open the door from the outside which is a safety issue. If the vehicle were involved in an accident not an efficient or quick way to exit the vehicle. This is a common problem and ford does not cover this repair even with the ford esp coverage so you may want to consider that purchase. So i will pay for this repair along with many other owners of the ford fusion, but it is quite apparent that; this is an engineering problem they chose not to address, and they do not stand behind helping customers who have this problem. My other vehicle is a lexus, and when something breaks such as a seat latch while in the extended warranty i purchased, they fix it no questions asked, something for me to consider the next time i vehicle shop. I don't mind purchasing a new vehicle and paying for it for 5 years but would expect the manufacturer to stand by their product, and to address safety issues quickly.

Hood latch failed; hood would not latch firmly in the closed position. This occurred when i opened the hood to fill windshield washer fluid. Hood was fully closed. I pulled the hood release lever under the dash and then opened the hood. When i tried to close it, the latch mechanism would not engage. Dealer tells me that the latch and cable need to be replaced - over $400.

The contact owns a 2011 ford fusion hybrid. The contact stated that the front driver's door would not open from inside the vehicle. The contact had to roll down the window and open the door from outside the vehicle. The contact called boulevard ford lincoln of lewes at 877-863-6365 (located at 18443 coastal hwy, lewes, de 19958) and scheduled an appointment. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that there was no recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 68,400.

Driving southbound rt 55 in nj,traveling on older paved road surface with some discontinuities and ridges, felt a sudden shock in steering wheel and vehicle pulled to left.slowed to shoulder to examine tire, wheel etc.no noticeable problem. Vehicle was drivable and shortly after developed a grinding noise in the front end. Detailed inspection revealed a driver side front coil spring failure, complete shear at second coil from the bottom of the spring. Response from ford was tough luck.had my wife been driving, this would have been a legal issue by now.

Drive by wire throttle body failed, causing car to loss all power on crowded highway at high speed. Had to cross several lanes ofheavy traffic to get to offhighway safely. Barely avoided several accidents trying to get pulled out of traffic lanes.

The wrench symbol was displayed on the control panel when the vehicle lost speed. It felt like it stalled out. Then the engine light came on. The car has very low miles on it and is practically brand new. I did not feel safe.

Acceleration went out.just quit working while on interstate. Fortunately was able to coast over three lanes to shoulder. Ford dealer mechanic told me "have to reset computer.that it happens".it was second time it happened.first time was three years ago while pulling out of parking lot.

We had to have the throttle body replaced on our ford fusion hybrid 2011 because the orange wrench light came up on the dash and the car shuddered and was not safe to drive. We also had to pay to have it towed. Ford's "customer satisfaction program 13n03" covers the fusion 2011 model but explicitly does not cover the hybrid. Apparently they do not want their hybrid customers to be satisfied. It is very unsafe that the throttle body can fail at highway speeds, and allowing ford to wait until it has failed to replace it, and refusing to cover the cost for hybrid models, is unacceptable. The vehicle was in motion at low speed when it failed.

When driving in torrential rain for long periods of time with the rain sensing wipers enabled and the wipers were wiping near their fastest speed and they just stop in the middle of the windshield putting me in a situation where i could not see through the windshield and i felt extreme danger as i did not know what to do as i was driving behind an 18 wheeler truck and could not see through the windshield any longer.i had to take my eyes off the windshield to turn the control off the wipers off and on again to get them to clear the water and go back to wiping as expected.the dealership replaced the control stick and that did not fix it then they replaced the control stick and the rain sensor and the dealership manager kendal said "that's all we're can do!" i believe that this is a software control or mechanical part breakdown or loss of communication to the wiper, but all the ford consumer line suggested was that i could go to a different dealership! the wipers are even coming on when there is no rain after starting the car! this is a dangerous driver safety issue and ford is not taking this serious because i an but one person reporting this.one of the service reps when i was in for the first repair said he had seen this on an explorer model.
