We were origanlly told our car needed a new computer chip,we now believe it was a blown headgasket the entire time. The car ran "alright" for a month or so,but never quite the same,after we got the chip, the check engine light always remained on,the dealer said they would have to re-start the computer,and addtional $200.00. We drove it for another month,until it finally just quit. After talking to several different mechanic's they all informed us it was a blown head-gasket all along. Several other t-bird owners have told us the exact same thing happened to them,at approx. The same milage. One of the parts needed were only available through an aftermarket dealer. The consumer stated the alarm would sound and the cabin lights would turn on randomly, while not operating the vehicle. The remote key would fail randomly. The gem monitor failed also, needing parts no longer manufactured through ford. After having the gem monitor repaired, the door locks failed.

The manufacturer issued a recall and installed a device that stops the engine fan from causing fire when it overheats. However the engine started over heating since the fan was turned off. (recall 00v-367 nhtsa and manufacturer 00s44).

Consumer writes in regards to an unsatisfactory experience at local dealer related to recall repairs *tgwwhen the consumer called the dealer, he was informed there were no parts available.the consumer stated he called weekly, and received the same answer. Finally, the dealer received the parts. However, when he arrived, he was informed the parts were no longer available.the next day, the consumer went to another dealer and the straps were replaced.

Consumer writes in regards to recall on gas tank straps *tgwthe consumer stated the service rep at the dealer stated even though the straps were replaced, the pin holes in the gas tank was very common and the truck was old. The dealer stated they complied with the recall, and there was nothing else they could do.

When filling up truck gas will leak out. First i thought when filling truck the gas spilled. Later when truck only made a sound as if it was going to start but then did not. Truck was towed to local mech/auto repair where it was stated i needed a fuel pump & fuel filler neck hose had a hole in it. Replaced left me in financial hardship.

Consumer writes in regards to vehicle steering malfunction.the consumer stated he hit some black ice and started spinning out of control. He managed to correct the vehicle. However, moments later the steering failed and he had no control of the vehicle. It was enough to push him up a small bank which caused the vehicle to turn over on its side. The vehicle was totaled.

The consumer received a recall notice regarding the tie rod and drag links, following the repair, the consumer noticed the steering position had moved from its original to more a vertical position, the recreational vehicle was returned to the dealer to reposition the steering wheel.months later consumer noticed the right front tire had worn into the wear bars on the outer rim of the tire, it was determined both tires were damaged and the total toe was 1.05 inches which was more than allowable. *ph

Problems with rim equipment on vehicle. *mr prior to the incident, tires were installed on the vehicle. The next day the consumer discovered one of the rims were missing, and while driving back to the shop to see if the mechanic forgot to put the rim back on, she viewed one of the rims gliding onto the highway nearly missing another vehicle.the consumer stopped to check the other rims, in which it didn't take much effort to remove them. *scc

Firestone dealer lost the special lug nut adapter and rather than seek a replacement, it was replaced with a regular nut almost ruining, causing consumer to keep purchasing expensive firestone tires.
