My girlfriends mother was traveling about 40 mph in her 2000 ford escape, and hit an elk.luckely no harm was done to her, but her air bags did not go off.my concern is that maybe there is a defect in the escapes, and wouldn't want someone else to be injured or killed from the problem.i would appreciate it if someone could contact me in someway so that we could talk about the problem.there was about 5,000 dollars in damage, and it's my understanding that the front of the vehicle crushed like an acc.

Air bag did not inflate during crash.neither of the vehicles air bags deployed upon severe frontal impact.as a result the consumer was injured.the consumer is questioning theair bags of ford vehicles, including 2000, and those manufactured in canada.*mr *nlm

Consumer stated that the engine stalls when vehicle is going downward. Also stated the he hit a deer and air bag didn't deploy upon collision. Ts

Water leaking through windshield into electronic system (gem module).this has caused vehicle to have problems with the following during rainy weather, and sometimes longer, even in beautiful weather. Wipers quit working during rainy weather while driving down highway in the middle of rain storm.head lights, parking lights and high beams don't work at all in rain.interior lights including dash board lights quit working. Head lights and wipers all quit working if radio is turned on.remote keyless entry won't work.4 x4 won't transfer if used, stays in one gear and gets stuck, which i am sure is causing damage to transmission.two days after a rain storm,my expedition was outside trying to start itself.i was inside when i heard the noise.it was like someone was over starting their vehicle.it was that grinding sound of the starter being over turned.when i went out side to my disbelief it was my expedition!

Have experience electrical problem for years.a blower continues to run even when the vehicle is turned off, causing the radio and windshield wipers not to work properly.

My 2000 ford expedition caught fire while it was parked and burned until it was totaled. There was also damage done to my house. My family also suffered from mental trauma.

This is ergent!!! on 2000-2001 ford focus models have a terrible faulty ignition. When i insert my key in the ignition it does not turn and my steering wheel is locked..i think this is worthy enough to be a recall many people are having this problem with the ignition. There have been deaths due to this faulty ignitions on ford focus cars..can someone please take action on this problem many people don't have transportation because of this ignition failure.

Consumer stated that the ignition would just lock up for no reason at all. Ph

I went to start my car one night and the key would not fit in the ignition. My cousin has tried working on it and he can't even get the old ignition switch out of the car to replace it with a new one. I have been out of a car for a week and after researching found this is a common problem that ford has not fixed. I find this unacceptable.

Ignition key would not turn in my ford focus 2000. A problem many have had on this type of car.

My ford focus ignition locked up on my car and i had to have my car towed to ford west dealership and was charged $40.00 for towing.i then had to pay $398.00 to have my ignition repaired which seems to be a common defect with ford focus. I saw on the internet where this is a common problem with the ford focus.i feel that i should be reimburse because it's not my fault that this a defect problem with ford.

Ford 2000 expitition caught on fire and was totally destroyed and occured in my driveway around 7am and the vehicle was not on and the last time used around 10:30 pm the previous night.

Upon exiting the grocery story on tuesday march 29, 2005 i found my 2000 ford expedition on fire.fortunately, there was a battalion of firemen shopping at the time & they were able to put out the fire very quickly.because they were the fire captain asked me if i had had the car serviced, in particular the master brake cylinder, as that was obviously the point of origin.i said no.a passerby mentioned the recall (we had only just received a letter in the mail) and after remembering the contents of the letter we received did we realize this faulty part was the cause.we had our car towed to the ford dealer where we bought it and had only gotton the run around since.the fire damage was limited to our vehicle engine compartment as well as left front tire and area between the engine & tire.this was due to the close proximity of the firemen when fire broke out.

(1)my wife drove our 2000 ford expedition to the grocery store on january 5th, 2005.when she came out, about 25 minutes later, the fire engine had arrived and was trying to put out the fire under the hood.they had to break the driver side window to get to to the hood release.2)he insurance fire investigator claimed fire was caused by an alternator electrical short.but as we now know ford has acknowledged a problem with the cruise control deactivation switch overheating and causing fires.3)we believe the problem was caused by the cruise control deactivation switch problem ford finally acknowledged having.

Emergency flashers cannot be used for more than a few minutes without overheating the component thus causing a complete failure of emergency flashers, turn, parking, brake lights, running lights. Tires develop major cupping and feathering thus causing severe bounce and vibrations in the steering and handling. (dot number: 71532btiresize: 19.5)

#8 spark plug popped out of head causing the threads to strip in head & busted coil pack. Converter was glowing red & popping.

(1) nothing remarkable happened leading up to the failure.the truck was idling when the failure occurred.(2) the failure was the #3 spark plug blowing out of the head which also damaged the coil in my 2000 ford expedition 5.4l engine, which had 82000 miles.(3) the head was repaired with an aftermarket kit that allowed a new spark plug to be installed.old spark plug has been discarded.

This is a 2000 ford expedition. Last year there was a fire strarted by a relay failure in the engine compartment. This repair was $2300.00, $435.00 was not covered by the extended warranty we purchased. In the past month i have noticed paint failure leading to rust on the roof, and last friday the engine failed while my wife was driving. Catastrophic failure. Ford says we need a new engine which will cost $5,500.00. The engine has 71,000 miles on it the extended warranty ran out at 65,000. When the engine failed, it effect the breaking and power steering. This is a serious problem with the vehicle and ford needs to recall these vehicles.

Vehicle died during travel with no warning, ford issued recall. However due to the limited numberof consumers withthis year andspecific model complaints were overlooked.dealer should offer recourse.

My 2000 ford expedition caught on fire while sitting in our driveway. The suv had been parked for 5+ hours. Our neighbor got up to use the restroom around 11:45 and noticed flames shooting from our suv. The fire completly destroyed our truck.the fire got so hot it melted the hood, front tires and the front cab. Our truckwas in good condition no major mechanical problems. How does a truck burstt into flameswhile parked in the driveway?

Since the early 1960's , i have been very aware of many ford products that the brake/syop lights fail to activate when the vehicle s brakes are applied to stop or slow the vehicle. I have driven for a living since the early 60's and the problem still exists today on many ford products the same as it always has. I have personally stopped and told many of those drivers in an attempt to prevent them from being rear-ended due to the vehicle behind them not being alerted to the fact that they are slowing/stopping. At one time i was told that the problem was the brake light switch locatet under the dash that was supposed to activate the brake lights when the brake pedal was pushed. I do not know if any corrections were ever made to thatproblem but as recently as this week i have been following a ford that did not have working brake lights when it stopped in front of me. I am retired from the bell system and as a requrement to operate a company motor vehicle we were given training annually called smith system defensive driver training and along with all the excellent skills we were taught we were also told to not follow a ford whenever possible for the obvious reasons just stated. If i can be of any additional assistance, please feel free to contact me. Thanks for doing what you do for our safety. Ron wogulis

Brake light problem. Brake lights do not come on.consumertook it to a mechanic ,and was toldthatbulbs wer fine, but she will have to bring it back in because mechanic may have to change the switch, and if that does not work, she may have to take it to a ford dealer/mechanic.

Just recently i had to have the automatic transmission rebuilt & a new planetary gear installed. There was no warning - the van just simply stopped in the middle of an intersection. Reverse was the only gear that would work. If you know how i can notify ford about please advise since i purchased the vehicle used but it has less than 75,000 miles on it. At the time the transmission failed, the mileage was 72901.

The rear outboard seatbelts disengage while the vehicle is in motion.ford has already had a recall on the 2001 expedition regarding this problem.i have contacted the dealer and manufacturer both have refused to address the problem.do to the safety concerns of this issue and the other recall ford should replace these seatbelt latches.

Upon exiting the vehicle the consumer constantly gets an electric shock, this may be caused by the seat material in the vehicle.nlm

2000 windstar. Abs light keeps coming on.have had car looked at 4 times and told "problem" (a seal in the mechanism) was replaced and problem fixed.but it's not - abs light keeps coming on.expensive to "fix".also, brake fluid leaks and have had times when driving and brake pedal goes all the way to floor without warning and delayed stopping.luckily have not had accidents when this has happened.have also had brake pads wear out - no pre-warning on this model windstar when brake pads are wearing out.had to have brake pads replaced, and rotors replaced - again and expensive fix to a problem without warning.also, brakes keep squealing when brakes applied - am told this is air in the lines (have been told that lines flushed but problem still keeps happening).also, when steering after the last time abs light problem "fixed" there is a grating steering noise whenever wheel is turned.warranty has run out - but problem with abs still exists and i can't afford another $700. Bill to "fix" problem.2000 windstar should be recalled for this abs problem and it should be fixed free of charge by ford.am very disappointed and frustrated with this problem - and feel that i and my child are driving in an unsafe vehicle.

When the brakes are applied the truck pulls far to the left.

Battery kept draining and the ignition chimed with key removed.heater blower ran after ignition was turned off and touch key pads stuck causing lights to stay on.all of these symptoms were attributed to a water leak in the windshield which leaked into a electrical connection block behind driver's side dashboard causing a short circuit.the electrical block melted and caused damage to block and wiring and was subsequently replaced.windshield was removed and resealed to prevent recurrence of leak.

Details: the vinyl covering on the dashboard is peeling away from the underlying structure. It has, over a period of about 5 months, peeled back far enough that it obstructs the view out of the windshield. The windshield defrost vent trim no longer fits into place. The defroster no longer works properly, as the vinyl now obstructs the air flow. The vinyl is also in such a position as to potentially impede the function of the passenger-side airbag. The extended warranty does not cover the dash, ford will not cover the full cost of the replacement ($1200). The dash on a 4 year car should not warp so badly it looks like a pringles chip. This is a design flaw with potential safety concerns, and should be subject to a recall.

During a rainy day i found water leaking into my expedition through the sunroof and the trim around the windshield.the next day the car would not start as the theft light was blinking.when we would get it started and then once it was turned off, the heat/air would continue to run.also, the odometer numbers would blink.we immediately took to the dealer and was told both the sunroof and windshield were leaking and the gem module and fuse box were destroyed.the repairs were made including a new windshield for a total of approximately $1200.

Left front wheel makes noise over bumps. Steering is off because of it and it feels like it is going to break any second.

Drivers side back tire blew out fro no apparent reason, tried to get off the road, to no avail due to speed.once reached 10mph was able to get off the freeway safely.

Lots of wind noise, tires out of round

Notified the dealer of the problem . The first person named tomsaid that i hit a curbthe person at the nextdealerlocation saidhe would replace the tire and that something was probably wrong inside . The sidewall had a large bubble andappearandit grew from the thread to the rimat the timether was only 9500 miles on the truck . This truck is driven by very few people . My estimateof mileage put on from others driving this truck is around 500 miles the rest are mine. I don't feel that i should have been charged for a tirethat has 90% more wear left .there is a problem with with the tire and even though they worked with me a problem does existandthis should be lookedinto . Pleasecall me and let me know if there is anything else i can help with. Thank you.(dot number: 038059tiresize: 22570r15)

When i arrived back to my vehicle, everything from the engine to the dashboard was completly burnt.what a surprise when you come back from dinner.i spoe to the witness who made the 911 call.she stated that she heard a popping noise, but ignored it until she got to her door and heard the noise again.she stated that when she turned and looked, she saw sparks coming from the front grill, so she went inside to call the police.the witness stated that as she was on the phone with the police, she looked out of the window, to discover there were flames to the 3rd floor of the apartment building. My truck had not been driven in hours, and the last time that it was driven, it was to the store on the corner. There was no engine noise, check engine lights on in the dash, or any signs that my truck would go up in flames.

I have brought this vehicle in for repair 5/6 times, and it still isn't right!

2000 ford contour sport se. Dashboard has warped to the point where it is interfering with the windshield defrosting process. The warping causes part of the dashboard to press up against the windshield trapping warm air underneath and not allowing warm air to reach the windshield driver viewing area. This is a very dangerous condition. Vehicle has approximately 76,000 miles. Problem began at about 50,000 miles.

1) prior to the accident, we had no unusal problems with the vehicle.february 1, 2005 the cruise control was disconnected per ford recall.)february 12, 2005 the 2000 ford expedition was taken to a car wash.when itreached the end of the wash cycle, the attendant got in the vehicle to pull it forward and the vehicle suddenly accelerated (6000 rpm) and travelled off thecar wash lot and over a 5 lane highway before hitting an embankment and stopping.) the vehicle was totalled by the insurance adjustor representing our insurance.ompany.both our insurance company and ford was made aware of the problem that occurred.the insurance company is dealing with the car wash but ford didnot want to inspect the vehicle to either prove or disprove it was a manufacturingerror.our belief is that it is a problem with the vehicle that is related to manufacturing and that ford should be held responsible for what happened on february 12th to our vehicle.lives were in danger.

Vehicle suddenly lurched forward at a rapidly increasing rate.*la the consumer then shut off the cruise control, pumped the brakes and the placed his feet on the brakes, only to discover the speedometer soaring to 95 mph. The consumer placed the gear into neutral and the n the vehicle began to slow down. The vehicle was taken to dealer where it was determined the throttle cable was frayed, however two weeks later the incident happened again, only this time it was determined that snow was in the carburetor.the vehicle surged again for the third time.

Fuel pump failed on my 2000 ford focus zts (@ 45,000 miles) caused stalling while driving on interstate. Currently (@ 47,000 miles) rpm's are erratic and vehicle stalls.

Vehicle surged while being parked in the garage and again in a parking lot.the rpm gauge went beyondnormal ramification.after contact was made with the manufacturer they agreed to inspect the vehicle since it was a continuous problem.problem can not be detected.*tc

After car was driven to work approximately 5 miles. My employers security department notified me that my car had caught on fire, while parked about an hour and a half after arriving to work. Fire department was called and put out fire, and itreleased a report stating fire definately started in under the the hood in engine area.

I contacted ford once in jan. '05 and again in feb. '05 about the recall on the speed control switch on my 2000 expedition. They said i would get it in the mail shortly. Its been 6 months and still have not received a notification. I would like to have it repaired asap at their cost not mine.

Smelled smoke after ignition. Found electrical fire after opening up the hood at a service station. The attendant quickly extinguished the fire. Towed the car to premier ford. Our insurance adjuster from tsc direct inspected my vehicle. His report was that there oil dripping from a defective master cylinder that caused the wiring to heat up. Thus, causing the fire. We think that ford should be responsible because this is a safety issue that could warrant a recall. However, they deny the claim because we are over the 3-year warranty. This should not make a difference. This is a dangerous situation. Therefore, we should be reimbursed for the full cost of the job, labor and towing expenses.

The condensation problem is extremely severe if it starts raining while i am driving.i have to pull over to the side of the road because i literally cannot see out the windows.i consider this to be a safety hazard.the dealership is unwilling to help me.i feel the car should be replaced because i have been to the dealership 8 times and they tell me there is nothing wrong with the car, and that i just need to install an air conditioner.this amount of condensation is not normal.

Water leaking in top right of windshield, down to the dash.evidently it leaked to the control box and shorted out the electrical system.caused considerable damage.
