Head gasket failed.nlm

Head gasket failed the first time, replaced under recall #98m01, then timing cover gasket and oring failed, was replaced and paid for by owner, engine then failed completely.salvaged engine installed and paid for by owner at 95,563 miles.salvage engine had 45,000 miles on it jan 1999.van now has a 110,000 total vehicular miles on it and second engine has failed.ford does not want to reimburse for engine failure before 100,000 miles and will not replace head gasket on second engine on recall #00m09, since there is over 100,000 miles.this has been very frustrating for us since over the last 15 years we have purchased roughly $85,000 worth of ford vehicles (mainly f-series trucks) and have had extremely good luck with the trucks but not the minivan.

Gas tank leaking hazard. Red mccombs ford says vehicle was serviced when recall was issued however vehicle has all original equipment. Items mentioned in recall to fix problem of tank are not in place on this vehicle; (ie: longer tank strap, tank replacement if cracked, spacer installation.) see nhtsa campaign id number : 99v309000 tank is cracked and i'm concerned. Red mccombs wants money to look at the vehicle and see if the recall was done. I can 100% assure that it was not done. Somehow i would like a reissue of the recall for my vehicle so that it can be properly be taken care of and safe on the road way.

The vehicle is a coachman motorhome on a 1995 ford van chassis.coachman admittedly placed an overweight motohome body on this chassis though ford's recommendation was for a lower weight. Coachman decided to do this, because they added a "cheater axle" to compensate for the extra weight.because the motorhome had remained unsold on the lot for some time, the salesman was asked why.he replied, "i guess you're just lucky."about 5 months later, the brakes gave way for the first time.they again went out on 7/18/97 @ a milage of 5111; 9/10/97 @ 5476; 9/27/97 @ 6177; 6/16/98 @ 7480; 6/30/98 @ 7506; and three more times after 9/29/98, after a letter had been sent by a lawyer to ford and coachman.during each of the above incidents, the brakes only went out after it was driven about two hours in hilly terrain. On 6/01/98, it had to be towed to the repair shop, after the brakes again gave out, as it was being driven out of a campground.the vehicle would regain its brakesafter about an hour of sitting on the side of the road and the brakes cooled down and the smell of burning was gone.on one occasion, the brakes gave out near home and the motorhome was driven directly to the repair shop.the mechanic was asked to sit in the driver's seat to confirm the brakes were not working with the pedal all the way to the floor.he refused, looked at it an hour later and said nothing was wrong with the brakes.these brakes have never been looked at when they were in the condition, brought on after two hours driving.how many times must the brakes not work and one be told they are alright, before one must not have faith in the company's employees' judgement.two of the times, the motorhome was in near collision, only avoided by the other driver's good brakes and judgement. Yet they still say the brakes are good and essentially "trust us."olease help to determine if this vehicle is a danger for those in it as well as other drivers on the road.
