I have received a "stop safely now" warning twice in the past week while drive my ford focus electric. When this has happened i've lost all acceleration, and one of the times i lost the ability to steer and break. Both times that this has happened the car battery was near fully charged.---------------------------------1st occurrence was on oct 7th 2013 while slowing down to approach a stop sign, i heard beeping and received the "stop safely now" warning on the screen and immediately the car lost power (the dashboard still had power). I lost the ability to steer, break and accelerate. Thankfully i was already coming to a stop (for the stop sign) and was under 5mph. The car rolled to a stop, i was unable to turn the car back on until i opened the driver's door (this caused the dashboard to power off), after this i was able to power the car back on and continue driving.-------------------------------------2nd occurrence was on oct 16th 2013 while driving 65mph on the freeway, i heard beeping and received the "stop safely now" warning on the screen and immediately the car lost power (the dashboard still had power), this time i was still able to steer and break but had no acceleration. Thankfully there was a freeway exit close by, and the car had enough momentum that i was able to roll down the exit ramp and to the shoulder of the feeder road. The car would not restart, i had to open the driver side door for the car to power down all the way. I was than able to power the car back on and keep driving.-------------------------------------i have taken the car to the ford service dept (on oct 17th); at this time they are telling me that they have not found an issue.

I have just over 1000 miles on my 2013 focus ev ... Took it for its 1st power car wash today @ delta sonic ... About 10:00 min driving away from car wash, vehicle abruptly "shut down" requesting an "immediate safe stop" and the "yellow wrench" showed on dash. After about 30:00 min while scheduling a tow from ford roadside assist, vehicle abruptly "cleared itself" and turned on ... Drove home w/o problem ? wondering if "flood sensor" sensed too much water and disengaged battery pack ? ... Lights, radio and accessories were still operating. Somewhat concerned on vehicles performance during upcoming "cold wet" months. Your suggestion ?

While driving the vehicle, a loud chime sounded, with a red triangle saying, "stop safely now" as well as a yellow "see manual" indication. This was very dangerous because it was sudden and while driving. The car lost all power and i had to attempt to pull of the street so i wouldn't cause an accident. I shifted to park and turned the car off and back on and it resolved the issue. However, 2 days later the same problem occurred but this time i was unable to restart the vehicle and needed to tow the car to the dealership.

So i was driving home last night in the rain and the speedometer was jumping around a little and the traction control flashed a couple times and i thought 'oh it's just cause the rain' well today the same thing was happening while i was driving. Then i got a warning light saying 'low brake fluid' and the brakes locked up while i was doing 30mph. It went away and drove fine but it will pop up every 4 miles or so saying low brake fluid

The 2013 ford focus electric stops suddenly with a "stop safely now" warning, the car is disabled by this warning. The message is given while driving and the car is disabled. The car can be restarted and driven. It is extremely unsafe the car to be disabled while driving. Ford has attempted to repair the car, but the issue has continued.

Around august, began taking focus to dealership because we went from 85 miles to a charge, to 48 miles. Then, we started getting "stop safely" messages. The focus has been to the dealership now 4 times, for a total of over 60 days, over 80 hours of labor. We reprogrammed pcm and other modules, have cleaned every wire possible, recall 13s09, loose pin fits at connectors c175b, and c1822b, one time, we picked it up after 2 days, drove it downtown (23 miles) and on the return trip, it did it again. I managed to have it happen twice in 6 miles. Car just dies. Been at dealership over a month, and now that they can't duplicate it, ford wants me to take it back. I think this is a problem that could lead to serious injury.

The engine shut down with a 'stop safely now' warning. Since it was the first time it happened, it was not clear what happened, so i came to stop in middle of the road. This has happened a total of 5 times now..with two events within a mile of each other yesterday 10/26. Yesterday the first event was at 40 mph again in the middle of the road (luckily not very busy at the time) and i was able to pull over to side of the road. The other two times, it happened while backing out of the driveway onto the road.

My vehicle displayed a "stop safely now" warning during my normal morning commute. The warning was preceded by a failure of the radio portion of the sync system. I briefly turned off the vehicle at a usual stop on my route and upon turning it on, the radio volume, power and tuning were all unresponsive. I attempted to reset the vehicle at the next traffic light by powering down and opening the door, but the radio remained on even after the vehicle was off and the door was opened. I attempted this several more times at each successive traffic light and the radio would not shut off. After one such reset, the stop safely now warning was displayed on the dash. I was stopped at a traffic light at the time and was able to reset the vehicle and safely enter a parking lot and wait for a tow - with the radio still on. My local ford dealer waited three days to diagnose the issue and unsurprisingly determined it was caused by a defective/dead 12 v battery and replaced the battery. Software was also updated. Upon returning home and attempting to charge, my vehicle displayed a high voltage system fault and had to be towed to the dealer again. The dealer said this fault was caused by a loose connection on a terminal block on the electric motor that was used to signal battery capacity to the on-board computer.

While braking for a stop sign, there was a thud, the stop safely now light came on, and the car stopped immediately.it would not re-start.i pushed it to the side and called for a tow.it is now at the ford dealer.this is the third incident of this kind and the second time i have taken it to the dealer and reported the incident to nhtsa.

While driving i lost the ability to accelerate the vehicle as i approached an incline in the road and a "stop safely now" and "see manual" warning light appeared on the dash.i activated the hazard lights and pulled over into the bike lane.i shut off the car, opened the door and was able to restart the car after several failed attempts.approximately 5 minutes later, i successfully restarted the car and drove back home, only the car lost the ability to accelerate again as i came through a major intersection. This time the warning signs were not activated until i had coasted to a stop.then the same "stop safely now" and "see manual" warning light appeared on the dash.i placed the car in park and walked a mile home.the powertrain control module reprogram was completed by ford in september of 2013.this is the 7th occurrence since the pcm has been reprogrammed by ford.my safety has been repeatedly compromised and i no longer have confidence in this car nor ford as they are unable to fix the problem and are unwilling to take responsibility. Please refer to my previous complaint filed prior to the pcm reprogramming and official recall notice.

The contact owns a 2013 ford focus electric. While driving various speeds, the vehicle stalled and the "stop safely now" warning indicator illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle stalled. The failure occurred intermittently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer twice for diagnostic testing; however, the cause of the failure could not be determined. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 18,000.

On at least 8 separate occasions, while driving my car all of sudden and out of the blue it displays a "stop safely now" warning on the dashboard and then completely loses all power to the drivetrain as soon as it slows to down to approx. 5mph. Fortunately, i've not been killed yet as a result of this.the car has been to the ford dealer 2 times since the first occurrence in april to "fix" the problem and is currently there again after it most recently happened on sept 24, 2013.it's now been at the dealer for nearly two weeks and they are still trying to figure it out.

I was driving and the car started beeping, and flashed up an warning 'safely stop now'.i immediately pulled the car over to the shoulder, and hit the off button.the engine shut off, but the error did not go away, i could navigate around the computer a bit, and it showed a 'warning' but would not let me see what the warning was.when i opened the car door, none of the accessory power shut off like it should.i got out of the car (removing the key) and locked the car.still all of the accessory power stayed on.i got back in, and tried to start the car, and it would not start, and flashed the message 'safely stop now' repeatedly.i called roadside assistance, and they sent a tow truck.the accessory power said on for the entire hour i waited, by the time they got there, i got back into the car and it let me start it.it ran all the way to the dealership without any issue (3 miles).so far, the dealership is clueless on what to do.

I was in a parking lot half way through my turn to pull into a parking spot when the car stopped and read "stop safely now".i could not restart the car.then (after a few minutes) some nice man asked if i needed a push.he pushed my car into the parking space and then i was able to reboot the car and after that everything was fine.that was the second time this has happened.the first time it happened i was going about 35 to 45 mph and got the"stop safely now" warningand after about 10 or 15 seconds of coasting it rebooted with no problems.

Driving our electric ford focus to work when left-most display screen flashes, "stop safely now!" message at the same moment that all drive power is completely cut off. Coasted to a stop, turned the car off, waited a minute or so, and turned car back on. Fortunately this occurred at 5:30 am on a two lane road, shortly after leaving my home, and before entering the interstate.

Car has problems with the uncoupling the engine from the power train rolled down hill not engaged scary at ford couldn't fix so they called specialist who took it apart and put it back together test drive 20 miles would not turn off!still at shop expert to return and try again taking apart car and then doing test drive again.children and lil people to transport!

While traveling down the freeway, decelerating to change lanes the stop safely now message appeared and the car lost power. This is a re-occurrence and the dealer is working to resolve it.

I bought this car at honda in arlington off of 20 hwy in 2013 i took it back when i bought it that was pre used , and then it seem like they did not want it back and never want to fix it . And the trans mission is not want to put due to a loud noise, and then the truck want open and the light wanted go off and the alarm want come on, taken to don davis and they want to charge me and i am disable, and i have my little grandchild that is 6 months old and she ride everyday and i hope we don't get in this car. Please help us i haveput this on many times. The door was a recall and when to don davis and they are have way fix. Please help!!!!!!!!

Stop safely now-car asked me to stop safely now while driving and i pulled over.at that point, it did not restart.has happened 4 other times with my wife and 4 kids in the car while traveling at speed. Very unsafe and have reported to ford.has been in shop for over 30 days and they are executing a buy-back, but with all these other cars on the road, it can be extremely dangerous as you lose all control with an electric car. Needs to be investigated and ford needs to fix the problem by finding a root cause.

The car wouldn't start (electric car). A instrument panel message said see owners manual along with red exclamation mark showed. Had to be towed to dealer. Was diagnosed at first with a bad high voltage battery. They ordered one ($25,000 battery). One week into waiting, ford (factory) said its not the battery and ordered a ground cable from the high voltage to the electric drive motor. It took 27 business days to get the vehicle repaired. Another visit, in sept. 2012 the cars interior heater failed. They took 7 business day to order and replace the electric coolant heater pump.

The contact owns a 2013 ford focus electric. While driving approximately 55 mph, the warning lights on the instrument panel illuminated and the screen displayed "pull over".the contact pulled the vehicle over to the side of the road to recharge the battery. A mechanic replaced the 12 volt battery; however, the failure recurred multiple times. The failure was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 900.

This car, i have been trying to get help for a long time and it seem like not one has heard me , not even the dealer, and now hear it ismy car is having trouble like the trunk wont open and we tide a stream on it and the lights stay on over a hour. Andcar jerk when takeing off in speed when change gears.

I previously reported tothe nhtsatwo previous occasions that this car suddenly lost power and came to an abrupt stop. The same fault occurred on 10/25/13. I have contacted albany ford of california and the car will be flat bedded back to them tomorrow for further attention. After the previous occasion they had this car to correct this fault, no parts were replaced or repaired but codes were downloaded and a diagnostic test was performed. Obviously this did not cure the problem. I filled out a form on the ford owner web site yesterday and have had an acknowledgement by e-mail. This is an obvious safety problem which was not adequately addressed previously.

Driving the vehicle home when warning lights began to flash on the dash saying to check owners manual and to pull over. The gas pedal became unresponsive and i coasted up to a red light at a left turn signal and stopped, put on my hazard lights. Eventually turned vehicle off then on again and was able to drive it home. Second incident was on 9/29/13, and had 2863 miles on it. While driving to dinner the same warning lights appeared on dash, and we lost power. Thankfully not a lot of high speed traffic and i was able to pull over somewhere safe to turn off the car and turn it back on again to get it restarted. When we returned home from the second incident i plugged in the car to charge it so we could take it back to ford for service, however the car didn't register the plug. Tried plugging it in and unplugging it from the wall then putting everything back in to try and get it to charge. It wasn't until i opened the driver side door then shut it that it finally registered that it was plugged in. During both incidents the vehicle became completely unresponsive, essentially dead in the water, and unless you can put it in park you can't restart it. Have taken the vehicle to ford on three separate occasions to have them fix this issue, as well as for an issue with the on-board charging system faulting, causing the vehicle to not charge fully.

The contact owns a 2013 ford focus electric. The contact stated while turning off the vehicle, the lights and radio remained operational which resulted in the battery being drained. The vehicle was diagnosed and repaired; however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 45,000.

While driving in stop and go traffic on the freeway, the vehicle stalls unexpectedly, followed by a message to 'stop safely now'.after several minutes of attempting to restart, the vehicle restarts and is able to driven again normally. This has occurred to me three times so far, without warning and does not seem to be any common pattern that is causing the stalls.

Doors lock and can not get out of my car locked in setting still could not be opened by person to help me get out of car, lock locked me in totaly

Takata recall. The transmission has been slipping so when i drive it jerks and feels as if it doesn't want to go.i was told by a mechanic that it was becaus there's a manual transmission and it's supposed to be unserviceable. I was going to a least get the fluid changed in the transmission but there's nondipstick and i was told it's not supposed to be changed and it's the transmission. I was told by more than one person that the transmission is slipping and i've only owned this year for a year and a half and own 10,000 on it.

This is for the ford focus electric. Driving in the left lane of a 4 lane road in moderate traffic, my wife was slowing to make a left hand turn onto a 4 lane hwy. Suddenly the vehicle chimed once, showed an orange caution sign in the left info display that read "please stop safely now," and immediately shut down mechanically. She instantly lost control of the steering, brakes or engine and the car came to an abrupt stop nearly causing a collision. She put the car into park and tried to turn it off (the interior electronics that are powered by the standard lead acid battery were all still on and functioning) and restart the motor, but the vehicle would not turn off. It was lucky it stopped before the intersection, if it had happened 3 seconds later it would have been perpendicular to traffic on a highway that's mostly trafficked by big rigs and delivery trucks and she very well could have been killed. There was no way for her to safely get out of the car, there was oncoming traffic and when there wasn't there were cars honking and swerving to the left and right of the vehicle. We had the vehicle towed to the dealership where they diagnosed the problem. It was a failed cooling pump so the vehicle shut down the battery pack and everything driven by it (ie steering brakes and the motor) to prevent overheating. This has not been the only cause of the "stop safely now" sign and shutting down the car. Instantly cutting off the driver from all the basic controls of a vehicle is a very dangerous way to deal with fault codes.

Two incidents of "stop safely now" warning and loss of power. Dealer could not identify problem in first incident. Second incident today, 23 days after first one. Will take (or tow) it in for inspection monday, per service department.

Today while at a intersection the focus electric started to go and then shut down again displaying the safely stop now message and the car was dead in the middle of a busy intersection. This has now happened numerous times and this one happened after the dealership performed the recall for the same thing. They also replaced the battery and some of the wiring at the recall visit due to multiple failure codes. This car is unsafe to drive and the last two times this has happened there was nearly a collision.

The contact owns a 2013 ford focus electric. While driving 55 mph, the stop engine now warning indicator illuminated and the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was taken to vancouver auto group (6804 ne 40th st, vancouver, wa 98661, 360-992-7285) to be diagnosed, but the failure could not be duplicated. Repairs were made, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified and did not assist. The failure mileage was approximately 41,000.

While traveling down the freeway, decelerating to change lanes the stop safely now message appeared and the car lost power. This is a re-occurrence and the dealer is working to resolve it.

Stopped at a traffic light, the car dash indicator error "stop safely now" appeared and there was no ability control the car--didn't to respond to the accelerator pedal and the steering wheel locked.i restarted the car several times and finally was able to regain normal driving conditions.

The contact owns a 2013 ford focus electric. While driving approximately 20 mph, the engine stalled. After restarting, the vehicle resumed normal operation. The failure recurred three times. The vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 13v523000 (power train). The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 20,900.

While making a left turn and accelerating out of the turn the engine, power train and breaking system stopped working.the vehicle stopped dead in the street.the dash displayed "stop safely now" and a yellow warning light symbol of a wrench appeared.i took several attempts to restart using various methods the vehicle finally reset and started.

Focus electric bev (not hybrid) - while driving at any speed, warning indication lights up on dash stating "stop safely now".the car has no power to accelerate anymore.the only control the driver has is to brake or pull over.on freeways or other highway with traffic when this occurs this is extremely dangerous as another vehicle can plow into the back of the car because you cannot accelerate and you may not be able to pull over if there is a curb or in a lane other than the right. This is very dangerous especially at night.understand that the car has no power and you cannot use the accelerator at all unexpectedly.the only thing you can do is brake and/or steer based on the momentum of the car at the time of the warning.you cannot clear the issue until you come to a complete stop.turn the car off by pressing the ignition button, waiting a minute or two, then starting the car back.at that time, it may or may not work. Sometimes when this procedure does work, you may only get a mile or two down the road before it does it again.this first occurred on april 17/18 and taken to a dealer to repair on a current recall notice of which symptoms include the car "losing power" among other related reasons.at the time, this event did occur and i explained that to the dealer and they informed me it would be taken care of with the recall repair.after receiving the car back, it happened again on april 29.it was taken to a different dealer this time.they attempted to fix and gave me the car back the next day on april 30th.upon leaving the dealer on the 30th, the problem occurred again on the away from the dealer less than 3 miles away.i returned the vehicle to the dealer and it happened 3 additional times in the 3 miles back to the dealer.the dealer continues to attempt repair and has not returned the car to me.i have ford and bbb case numbers..

Was driving at 25 mph in a residential zone, with 48 miles on the battery when an alert dinged and the message on the screen said "pull over to safety now." i immediately pulled out of traffic into a parking space as the power steering stopped working, then steering then completely locked, couldn't turn the wheel. The car would no longer go forward / had lost power. And the power breaks didn't seem to be functioning. Thankfully i had already come to a complete stop.the next morning we had it towed to an authorized ford service center that said there was a recall for this issue. They applied the software fix and test drove the car only to have the problem reoccur. Therefore they said the fix for the recall didn't actually fix the problem and that they would have to order a replacement for the transmission control module, as that was the part ford said was faulty / failed.

Car shut down/stopped while driving; warning light says "stop safely now" but there is no choice -- the car shuts down and only option is to coast to side of road.

The first event occurred on 7/17/2013, at 2267 miles.i had charged the battery overnight (at our motel), using the 120-volt charging cord.i had pulled the car around to the front of the motelthe car was stationary, in "park," when the "stop safely now" message was displayed.i just powered the car off and powered it back on.that cleared the ssn message.then, i drove home, as planned, with no recurrences of the error message.today, 10/24/2013, at 4127 miles, the "stop safely now" message was displayed (for only the second time), while i was driving down a hill, at about 30 mph.the car had been sitting in the parking lot, at work, and the ssn error occurred after driving about 1 mile.there was no place to pull over, without blocking traffic, but, since i was going downhill, i just continued coasting, made my usual right turn at the bottom of the hill, and pulled over, at a spot where there was a very wide, paved shoulder.since it was too late in the day (5:30 pm) to get the car (with the power still on and the ssn message still displayed) towed to the local ford dealer (which closes at 6 pm), i powered the car off and, then, powered it back on.the ssn error, again, went away, and i was able to safely drive home, with no additional ssn messages.because of a construction detour, lately, i have been driving to work and back, on a major highway, that has a speed limit of 65 mph.numerous stretches of that highway are both uphill and have little or no room to pull over.the last part of my trip home is us a steep hill, with lots of curve and mostly very narrow shoulders.

In most vehicles the cruise control will disconnect when shifting gears or braking.the 2013 ford focus electric does not disengage the cruise control when vehicle is placed in l to utilize engine braking.it continues to maintain speed requiring immediate application of brakes to slow vehicle.cruise control should turn off when shifted to l.

At the time of this report we have had two occurrences of a "stop safely now" error message while driving at highway speeds on this vehicle. During each failure the vehicle stopped functioning abruptly with no warning before the failure. All steering, control of vehicle and propulsion was lost. On the first failure we had approximately 7 seconds of momentum before coming to a stop and on the second occurrence we had an abrupt stop as if the brakes were slammed on forcibly. As a result i was thrown forward towards the steering wheel. In both situations we were unable to get the vehicle off to a safe spot on the highway. In both cases impact possibilities were extremely likely both during the incident and the minutes post-incident as we attempted to get to a safe location off of the road. Ford has attempted a diagnosis on the first occurrence, but were unable to provide a fix. Ford now has the vehicle again for a final attempt at repair. The vehicle is approaching 30 days out of service in total repair time.

Multiple times, our ford focus electric has abruptly lost power and flashed the message, "stop safely now." it's has occurred during rush hour commute on a 5-lane freeway, causing serious safety risks as we have had to make an emergency stop on the freeway. Sometimes the car will restart after multiple attempts and several times we have had it towed back to the dealer. Most recently the car was in service for 8 days at frontier ford in stevens creek, then stalled on the freeway on the way home from the dealer -unacceptable!we bought this car for commuting but the recurring sudden stops and safety messages have totally undermined our confidence in this car. We feel unsafe, as this issues clearly puts us and our children at greater risk of serious injury or death while in this vehicle.unfortunately, the focus has been in the shop for repair over 30 days during the first year of purchase. We do not want to own this lemon anymore.ford clearly doesn't know how to fix the issue - it's time for a recall on this unsafe vehicle. Why hasn't the nstb taken any action?

While exiting a parking lot in late afternoon, i coasted to a stop at the signal light before exiting onto the street.car lost power, and i was unable to restart it for about 5 minutes.i tried the trick i'd read about of putting the car in park, opening the door and closing it, then trying to restart to no avail.eventually restarted and i continued on my route.

While driving to work in the morning, car lost power and displayed "stop safely now" message.i was able to coast to the side of the road.after several tries was able to restart the car successfully and continue on route.

Stop safely now warning on dash. Car will not move. Had to be towed to dealer again. This is the fourth time to occur in 7 weeks. Been at the dealer most of the time since buying it on 12/16/2016.ford needs to send an engineer to rectify the issue before someone is injured or killed due to this safety defect.

I was driving on high at 65mph when a safety alarm went off in the car and message read "stop safely now". Which i did. Car had died by then. I was not able to turn the switch off but engine was not running. I had to get it towed to ford dealer who failed to identify any issues. It worked well for 2 to 3 weeks, until 2 days ago when same thing happened. It has since happened 3 times, latest being today. I have contacted ford about this. I believe it is very dangerous to lose power like that midstream. People behind me can crash into me since i have no propulsion. I have looked through internet and there are other people having same complaint with same vehicle and somebody needs to look into it. I have about 8000k on the car.i purchased about 6 months ago.

My wife was driving in heavy traffic at approx. 30 mph. With no prior audible or visual instrument panel warning drive power ceased and the car came to a sudden stop with a loud audible warning.she was lucky not to be rear ended..the green instrument panel icon which normally indicates drive power connected was unlit. She recycled parking brake on, transmission in park, foot on footbrake and pressed the power button (this is the normal start procedure) with no result . She opened and closed the driver door and then the car started normally and she drove home. I had experienced the same problem the day before except i was stopped at a stop sign on this occasion. The car was flat bedded toa ford repair shop and i was told to pick it up the next day.the repair shop reported that multiple memory codes with only one tcm code near the mileage where the event occurred a network test was performed and the system passed. We enjoy driving this car, but are very concerned about using it again especially on the freeway.

This issue has actually happened about 4 times in the last 6 months. For example, while driving home a few weeks ago, my 2013 ford focus electric suddenly lost all power while driving at approximately 45 mph. The dashboard error read "stop safely now". Luckily i was not on the highway or in an area where i was unable to pull aside off the road quickly. It took me about 15 minutes to get the car going again. I figured out that i had to actually exit the vehicle, close the door and then open and re-enter again to get the car to restart. It sounds weird that i would have to go through that process, but i think the keyless push start had something to do with it. This has been the process to get it finally started each time after i figured it out.

I've had numerous problems since the first day i drove it to work. The most serious incident occurred aug. 7, 2013, when the vehicle suddenly shut down while my wife and i were driving on the 101 freeway in agoura, ca. A similar incident occurred on oct. 16, while leaving work, and on oct. 21, while driving to work.on all three occasions the car would suddenly stop, astop safely now read-out would appear, followed by a mechanics wrench symbol. Seeking to learn if others had this problem i came across the odi preliminary evaluation document. My wife were lucky to have come out unscathed in the freeway incidentand frankly ford couldn't give [xxx] one and i currently own 4 fords. Please stick it to them before someone isn't lucky enough to survive a "limp" condition as they describe it.as for me, i'm currently searching for a lemon-law lawyer. Incidentally, the other 4 ford vehicles, i never had a problem with them. [xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

After driving about one mile from home, a tone sounded and the "stop safely now" warning was displayed on the left side of the dash.the car did not respond when pressing the accelerator, and i was able to pull off the road onto the shoulder.the car's speed was about 25 mph when the tone first sounded. If this had happened two minutes later, i would have been on the freeway where there are very few places to pull off and would have presented a serious danger.i was able to restart the car after a few minutes, drove back home, and then had it towed to the dealer.

The engine abruptly shuts down as i was driving on surface street.i was able to restart the car after numerous attempts to restart.i received the same message other ford focus electric vehicle received, "stop safely now".

While operating the 2013 ford focus ev on the highway, just after braking to enter the left turn lane, the vehicle lost all propulsion capability. The instrument gauge indicated "stop safely now" one or two seconds before this loss of power.fortunately there was no oncoming traffic and i was able to coast to a safe parking spot. In other circumstances this could have been very dangerous..

While driving, vehicle chimed then "stop safely now" came on in the display. Vehicle turned off while driving and i was unable to turn back on. About 5 minutes later i was able to get the vehicle to turn back on.on 10/7/13 while negotiating a left turn, the vehicle did this again. I was able to complete the turn with the speed i was making the turn with and pulled over. It took about 7 minutes before i could get the vehicle to turn back on. I took the vehicle to the dealer the same day. Today, 10/8/13 south bay ford in hawthorne, ca called me and said that ford is aware of the issue but to just come pick up my vehicle. I feel this is a major safety issue that ford needs to resolve asap!

This car, i have been trying to get help for a long time and it seem like not one has heard me , not even the dealer, and now hear it ismy car is having trouble like the trunk wont open and we tide a stream on it and the lights stay on over a hour. Andcar jerk when takeing off in speed when change gears.

The car automatically accelerated while parking perpendicular in a parking structure; driver had slowed/braked, to 5 miles or less, to park and taken her foot off the gas and pressed the brake. Abruptly the car accelerated and the car crashed into the wall in front with the driver air bags activated and front bumper crushed.

Third time this has happened in last month.the first two times, i was close to home.the stop safely warning came on and car quit working. I was able to wait and car eventually started after i exited and reset. The last time, today, i was stopped at a light and as i accelerated on the green, my car stalled as the stop safely warning came on. I had no advance notice.i was able to glide over out of traffic into a side street but not able to get out of traffic turning.i tried to get to the warning but could not get to it.i exited car to try to move it myself with no luck.once i got back in, i tried for about 5 minutes and it finally started back up.i drove straight home and made appt to take car to ford.i am pretty sure all my recalls have been applied over the last few months.

2013 focus electric.was just heading tofreeway when a warning displayed "stop safely now"a few seconds later the vechile power to motor stopped and vehicle was stalled in traffic with wife and grandchildren in car.vehicle was on a full charge and 1 mile from startup.

Traveling on a main artery, very busy road, with 13 year old child in passenger seat. Left-most display screen flashes, "stop safely now!" message at the same moment that all drive power is completely cut off. We were extremely lucky to be able to coast into an unoccupied driveway, otherwise we very well likely would have been the cause of a multi-car collision.and now, am finding on the internet that ford and the nhtsa have known about this problem for almost a year?i'm having a hard time determining which entity i'm more pissed off at -- the publicly traded for profit auto maker, or the publicly funded government body that exists with one sole purpose: protecting the motoring public's safety.

Car stopped on motion with an alarm stop safely now, wheels lost power, steering wheel was able to function so car had to be pushed to the side of the road.

Driving at low speed in a parking lot, the car lost propulsion (only) and displayed 'stop safely now'. This has occurred 3 times since (total of 4) with 3 incidents also being at low, parking lot speeds.i had one incident where this occurred at a steady 40mph.the car looses propulsion only.steering, braking and all other accessories are unaffected.

The car's braking system is flawed on rough / pot hole surfaces. Everytime on the way to work, there is a portion of road that is very rough/ uneven/wave like. When attempting to brake while on this portion of road the car actually speeds up while applying the brake (the car slows down in the beginningthen appears the brakes release pressure and vehicle speeds up as if i just released the brake pedal which is definitely not the case). This is very reproducible, "everyday".this problem is similar to a family member's prius braking problemand actual like my infinti jx35 brake issue.

2013 ford focus.consumer writes in regards to vehicle power steering system repairs.the consumer stated in early october, he noticed a strange sound, like a belt rubbing, in the steering mechanism. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for an inspection, the service advisor informed the consumer the power steering rack needed to be replaced.

While in the driveway and stationary, i turned on the car and the "power steering assist" warning light came on.the power steering was not operable and the steering went into manual making it almost impossible to turn the wheel.after the mechanic evaluated this, it was determined the sensor needs to be replaced.the part alone is $1100 and that does not include labor. Rather costly.there are many, many complaints found about this specific issue with a simple google search.other ford cars have received a recall on this part.it seems particularly odd and extremely irresponsible on ford's behalf to not concede to the defect on this particular year/make/model and issue a recall for replacement at no cost to the consumer.

The contact owns a 2013 ford focus electric. While the gear shifter was placed in reverse, the steering wheel inadvertently locked and the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to mclaughlin (950 n main st, sumter, sc 29150 (803) 773-1481) where it was diagnosed that the steering wheel needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified and did not assist. The approximate failure mileage was 6,000.

The contact owns a 2013 ford focus electric. While driving approximately 50 mph and attempting to turn left, the steering ability seized and the vehicle kept going straight. The contact drove over a sidewalk and the air bags deployed. There were no injuries. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who determined that the steering column needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 69,000.

Was driving in from la to palm spring at 11:00pm. And the drivers door ajar light came on and the door opened while driving. Had to tie it closed with rope and a bungee cord that i now have to carry in my car, because this the second latch that has broken in my car.

Stop safely now (ssn) occurred.vehicle was parked, became inoperable, pushed to street.started next day, dropped off at dealer on 10/25/13 for investigation.

Doors lock and can not get out of my car locked in setting still could not be opened by person to help me get out of car, lock locked me in totaly

Stopped at a traffic light, the car dash indicator error "stop safely now" appeared and there was no ability control the car--didn't to respond to the accelerator pedal and the steering wheel locked.i restarted the car several times and finally was able to regain normal driving conditions.

I braked to a stop at a busy entrance to a traffic rotary. Traffic started up and the car wouldn't respond to accelerator. I saw a stop safely now message on the left hand digital display. Car wouldn't move or start again. Had to push car out of bumper-to-bumper traffic. State of charge was good for the trip. Problem was not explained by display. Outdoor ambient temperature was mild. Car was flat-bedded to my ford dealer, where it still sits today. This could have been much more serious if it happened on a highway, and i had been surrounded with traffic beside me instead of only behind and in front.
