I took it to russell and smith ford in houston, tx.they said the battery was the issue. A week later same problem, it cranks but wont turnover. It is now at sterling mccall ford in houston with the same problem. I will attach their diagnosis. I have 57, 000 miles only on this vehicle. I hope that this will all go out to all ford dealerships..thank you

My 2015 ford flex was exhibiting symptoms described in the ford safety recall 16s31. The engine stalled while driving with no warning 5 times over the past two years of ownership with the most recent occurring on 6/20/2019 at 8:15 am. Each incident was at different speeds (30 - 70mph) but no warning prefaced the stall and you had to cut the power off and turn it back on for the car to start again. Two of the stalls were during turning operations while others were while driving straight. On other occasions the engine did not start via remote start, however no dates recorded. This recall, that describes the exact symptoms, states that it does not cover my vehicle because i have a different engine. However, the part in the recall is the fuel pump control module. My 2015 ford flex had the fuel pump control module aa8a-9d412-ca with the supplier part number 2177806-5e. As per the recall, this is a part that needs to be replaced. I just had the dealer replace it with the new part aa8z-9d370-b, service history below:we have taken the vehicle to two separate ford dealerships over the past year due to this issue. Neither dealership recognized this issue because our vin number wasn't on the list of vins provided by ford. I paid for the repair recommend in safety recall 16s31 out of pocket so that my vehicle will be safe to drive again. The first dealership replaced the throttle body and charged us for it. After the issue occurred again, the second dealership again replaced the throttle body since the throttle body was still under warranty from the first repair.it appears the recall does not cover all of the affected vehicles. There are other ford flex that have these faulty parts.

The contact owns a 2015 ford flex. While both the engine and air conditioning were activated for a short period of time, the vehicle experienced a complete loss of power. The failure occurred without warning. The failure occurred twice. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that it was operating as designed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 24,000.

The contact owns a 2015 ford flex. While driving 65 mph, there was an abnormal noise and a fire erupted under the front of the vehicle. The contact coasted the vehicle over to the side of the road, which was on fire. A fire inspection report was not yet confirmed and the vehicle was towed to a yard. The dealer (kendall ford of anchorage, 1950 gambell st, anchorage, ak 99501,(866) 591-3517) was notified several times, but had not yet responded. The manufacturer was notified and the contact was waiting to determine if they may be able to investigate what caused the fire. The vin was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 27,000.

The car was used in the morning and worked fine. It was parked in the driveway and sat for under an hour before we turned it back on and tried to turn on the heated seats when we realized the touch screen no longer worked and would not respond to touch at all. The screen appears to still work (the temp changes and such as the other buttons on the dash or steering wheel are pressed (not on the screen)however the touch screen has completely stopped responding to touch or working and therefore i can not access any part of the vehicle settings that require you to touch the screen such as the heated seats, lighting, directions, music in outs, etc. It has taken away half the features of the entire car and is an extremely pricey repair on something that should never have failed! especially after many other parts have failed on this car like the fuel control module, wheel bearing, electric seat and also the air compressor just failed also on a car that is only 4 years old.

On july 5, 2018 i was driving at 35 mph on a city road when a warning light with the words "steering assist fault, service required" suddenly came on and the steering stopped working almost entirely. There was very little manual ability to steer the car. Fortunately we were on a very wide, empty road, so i was able to use both lanes and get the car to my house. If this had occurred on a busy city street or narrow lane, with any kind of traffic, we could have easily been in a serious, even fatal collision. I hope that other ford owners will report this problem if they experience it, so that a recall can be initiated if needed. This was a dangerous system failure that should be investigated.

The contact owns a 2015 ford flex. The contact stated that the vehicle experienced a complete loss of power without warning. The dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 66,000.

False and persistent door ajar warning and related transmission not in park warning (when in motion) .

My car ford flex 2015 limited awd (made in canada) and its out of warrantyyesterday only without any warning i used my car at morning normally and no issue i stoped at supermarket the back to car and start the engine and i see message alert " steering assist malfunction service required" and the steering became very heavy too much power need to move it right or to left ..then after that one warning message came " service advancetrac"

The contact owns a 2015 ford flex. While driving approximately 60 mph, the speed suddenly reduced to 20 mph and the check engine indicator illuminated. After restarting the vehicle, the failure occurred a second time before stalling. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, but the failure could not be duplicated. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 8,200.

Vehicle lost engine power while driving on 4 separate occasions, once while at highway speeds. Only fault indicator shown is "wrench"symbol. Upon shutdown and restart, issue resolves itself until it occurs again. There are no symptoms leading up to power loss, and it surprises driver since there is no driveline power, as well as reduced braking and steering capability. This is especially dangerous on the highway and at in traffic. Dealer has stated that since it cannot be easily repeated, that they cannot fix it.

The contact owns a 2015 ford flex. While driving approximately 5 mph attempting to merge onto a highway, the vehicle started to lose acceleration and hesitated. The contact turned off and restarted the vehicle. The contact drove to an independent mechanic who determined that the throttle body was clogged and needed cleaning. The contact also stated that the failure occurred at least twenty times during the past eighteen months. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 62,000.

When vehicle in motion on major roadway, loss of power and goes into limp mode. Yellow wrench lights up. Vehicle does not respond to throttle. I have to shut off vehicle and turn it back on . There is no dtc code when checked. I was almost rear ended with my children in the vehicle at time of incident. Car loses power and rapidly decelerates within 5 seconds. There is zero time to pull off the road which put us at high risk of being rear ended. This is a life/road safety hazard

Driving the vehicle on the highway and heard a clunk and felt a slight loss of power and control. Pulled over to check vehicle and noticed flames coming underneath the engine compartment. Car soon became engulfed and was a total loss. The origin and cause expert hired by our insurance company suspects an injector line came loose on the engine and sprayed fuel onto exhaust manifold.

Wrench light appears on dash and the car loses all power - known as "limp home" mode. Codes clear upon restart. Took it to dealer after freeway incident on 2/17/19, dealer found no codes, stated it was motor mount. Got the car back on 2/25/17, and it happened again within 30 miles. Was able to pull code with my own scan tool - p2111. Known error in throttle. This happened while traveling approximately 40 mph, and once on expressway, two additional times at around 20 mph

July 1 i was driving the car running some errands (bank, post office, grocery store) when the car suddenly lost power turning across oncoming traffic on a four lane highway. This was one day after i had the car at the dealership for more diagnostic work and they could not find anything wrong without the code. I left the car running after making it home and called ford roadside assistance for a tow to the dealership. When wrecker driver arrived after a two hour wait he said he could not tow car with engine running (against dot rules and regulations) so engine was turned off and code was lost again. Car was delivered to the dealership and i told them to keep the car until repairs were properly made. I ask for a loaner but i was told they didn't have one. No offer was made for a rental. They did give me a ride back home where i sat over the july 4th holiday with no transportation. Totally lost for what to do next? any suggestions?

Regarding nhtsa complaint no. 10876758. Had the car at the dealership this morning and nothing was found. They think it is the throttle body but can't repair it without authorization from ford motor company. Service writer said he would call me if and when he got authorization (no idea when that might be). No offer was made to leave car until repairs were made and replace with a loaner. I drove the car back home approximately 25 miles one way. This afternoon i drove it to the grocery store with my wife riding along and upon returning home i was turning across two lanes of oncoming traffic onto the road i live on when the car stalled again. Dealership just called and said ford will not authorize repair without the code showing on the reader. So, on to the next step.

On october 18, 2019, while entering a parking space at the ikea parking lot,my car experience a loss of power, causing the engine to stall.i tried to start it up about 10 times, and nothing happened - it failed to start every time.after about 2 hours of trying, i finally had to have it towed to my house.when i performed a obd-ii system scan, with my scanner, i got a fault code of p0627 (fuel pump a control circuit)i took the car to the ford dealer, and explained the problem.after two hours, they called me and said their tests revealed no fault codes.based on the issue i described, they said that if i wanted, they can change the fuel pump, but i would have to pay $100 deductible under the extended warranty plan.the think that may fix the issue of stalling, or not starting.my issue is that if the problem is not fixed, it may increase the risk of a crash, at any given time, and without notice.given the fact that there are other complaints about this same issue, i think that a general recall for this make/mode/year car should be initiated, before someone loses their life over it.

I was entering at carpool lanes when a debris hit the underbody of the vehicle, i just heard a big hit underbody and continue driving after two miles another driver notice fluids were draining from the bottom of the vehicle and urge me to check when i stopped i find out the debris had make a heavy damage to the gas tank and gasoline was in efect draining fast. I stopped and turn off the engine and a friend of mine help me take the damage vehicle to my house where the the rest of the gasoline drain out. I put sand into the drain gasoline and try to catch the more i could into a small bucket, i was afraid the car could catch fire so i put under a shadow the temperature was 97 frth neither the gas gauge started marking it was getting emptier or a check engine light show up at the dash board

I was driving approximately 45 mph uphill when suddenly, and without warning, the flex decelerated to a coasting speed.i was able to pull into a turn lane but unable to accelerate.the wrench light came on.i turned off the car and turned it back on.the wrench light was on and their was ability to accelerate beyond crawling.i turned the car off and back on and was able to drive normally to work.

Vehicle suddenly shut down causing the vehicle to stall and now won't start.seems like our vehicle has no power going to the fuel pump. This happened while driving down the road. Vehicle now will not start but does still have lights come on. Acts like its not getting fuel.

I was traveling westbound on interstate 265 at approximately 4 a.m. Sunday morning september 30th. The vehicle stalled out and came to a complete stop on the interstate. A wrench light was shown on the dash and the vehicle would not move forward. The incident was caused by a safety bulletin number 17 b28. Luckily i was about the only one on the road at that hour, because i am certain that had this happened in rush hour traffic there would have been an accident.

I was driving northbound on us 23 on 6/10/2017 when my vehicle suddenly decelerated and would not respond to gas pedal. I coasted to the side of the road fortunately without striking another vehicle or the vehicle behind me rear ending me. A orange wrench appeared on the digital screen in my instrument cluster and a message appeared that said "see manual." manual stated this was a power-train failure. I turned car off and restarted and was able to drive on. Once restarted, the wrench symbol disappeared.on 6/11/2017, while driving to work, the vehicle did the same thing only 1.5 miles after ignition. Sudden deceleration, coast to side of road, very low rough idle and would not respond to gas pedal depress. Fortunately no vehicles behind me. This time i had my wife bring my scan tool to me and i plugged into the obd2 port and received a code "p2111 throttle actuator control system - stuck open." once again i turned car off and back on and was able to continue on. I went to bruce walters ford in pikeville, ky on 6/12/2017 at 2pm and attempted to have the vehicle repaired. The service adviser as well as service manager advised me they could not read any code and therefore could not do anything. I explained that it resets when you turn off and back on and there is no way to drive the car when it happens because it is disabled. I was advised by both people that i just needed to drive the car until it broke down and have it towed in while still running that way they could read the code. I thought this was unbelievable. No tow service will tow a running car. I tried to explain but was only told that they had to be able to read the code to help. I left dealership and called ford corporate and was told the same thing. Drive until i broke down and have it towed while running so the code could be read. Having a vehicle randomly shut down on the road is super dangerous.

Apparently my "throttle body" electronics went bad and caused my engine to stop while i was in fast lane of freeway...barely made it to the shoulder. No warning until after car was off. Dealer was "aware" of this problem with this 2015 ford engine although ford hasn't done anything to warn customers or recall to fix..it is noticed however in safety issues with orgs. It is inexcusable that the care will not warn of pending problem, and turns off on its on (or slows down to crawl) and ford has not taken action on problem they are aware of.

Our car has stalled on us 4 times, all while in traffic. 1st time at night on a residental street moving forward, 2nd and 3rd time while on a 40 mph road in heavy traffic, 4th time while going through an intersection on a main road moving forward.each time vehicle has had a 1/2 tank or more of gas. Vehicle acts as though it has ran out of gas.light on the dash comes on with a wrench symbol saying to check manual.vehicle has been brought into westlie ford in washougal, wa 2 times with no resolution. The computer is showing no issue, so nothing has been repaired. Vehicle is unsafe to drive, as this could potentially cause an accident.had we been on a freeway i have no doubts it would have.vehicle only has approximately 9800k miles on it and we haven't even owned it a year. I rely heavily on my vehicle, and have had to put out several hundred dollars so far on a rental car.

Our 2015 ford flex recently died when we were driving in traffic, with no warning when we were driving with our 2 young children. The ford flex only has ~45k miles on it and has been serviced regularly. Turns out it is bad part (fuel pump electric module (pem)) that is recalled by ford in the 2015 flex. The recall was started in 2016 and our flex died in 2018. I was told by the dealer and later by ford service that our car is not covered because the vin is not included in the recall. So while some 2015 ford flexs' had this exact part covered under warranty ours was not. We had to have it towed into the dealer, san tan ford in gilbert az, and then pay them about $400 for the repair. The dealer was great but it is not right ford does not cover this part on our particular car since it is exactly the make, model, year and part that is covered under the warranty.below is a copy of the recall from the nhtsa.gov website. Summary:ford motor company (ford) is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 ford taurus, ford flex, lincoln mks and lincoln mkt vehicles equipped with 3.5l gtdi ecoboost engines and 2013-2015 ford taurus police interceptor vehicles. A component within the fuel pump electric module (pem) may overheat causing a loss of electrical power to the fuel pump. Consequence:a loss of power to the fuel pump will cause the engine to stall or prevent the vehicle from starting, increasing the risk of a crash.

First time car wouldn't start parked at work, 2 days later on monday it started, drove it to dealer, they replaced the sender and pump asy, under warranty.3 mths later sputter and died pulling into traffic, had car towed to dealer, they replaced fuel pump control module, not on recall or warranty.

In october 2018, our ford flex was parked in the driveway when we tried to start it and it did a minor crank and then nothing. It wouldn't start or do anything. Worked fine the night before. Had to have the car towed and turns out the fuel pump control module failed on it costing $650 to replace the part.seems like this is a major issue with these cars and i don't understand why there isn't a recall or refund on the repairs as there was on the turbocharged ones.i have had one problem after another with this vehicle and told that each part "somehow failed" before it's time with no other explanation than bad parts. The wheel bearing failed, the touch on the touch screen has failed, the electric seat failed and now the a/c compressor has failed as well. I am ready to get rid of this money pit car.

Driving on i75 headed south just n of forsythe ga 3 lanes of traffic 75 mph or faster wrench light comes on and no power. With gods luck there was like a 10 second window where we got over to to right been and of the road. My wife and granddaughter were very frightened. Car was dead no power! waited a couple minutes and the car started so the air would work this is july 1st called roadside assistance first operator was not good and her english was terrible next lady was great but tow was 2 hours away.towed to ford dealer closed till monday. Monday morning ford dealer says its a throttle actuated stuck have to replace throttle body.they did a good job on the road couple hours later. This a very serious safety issue.

Purchased my 2015 ford flex on may 11, 2016 with 54 miles. On saturday, july 2, 2016 the wrench light came on while driving and the car shut-down. I was able to get it started and drove home, which was less than 5 miles away. The code per the manual, powertrain failure. Engine light was on as well. I noticed it would move a little sluggish when going up a hill and also noticed the sound of the transmission taking a few seconds to switch gears. Roadside assistance towed it to the dealership and they are saying the throttle body was defective and will need to be replaced; however.....it's on backorder for weeks. On july 5, 2016, i sent and email via fords website and received an email response from meagan, a customer relationship center rep. With ford on 7/5/16 at 2:53pm.meagan's response stated that she, "escalated my case to the service manager at my dealership (of purchase), and ensured the service manager will use all resources available to assist me."ford case number:cas-9974632-s3q0b3

Vehicle would not go in reverse when put in reverse.also, when the new part was delivered to fix the vehicle, they delivered a damaged part and had to send it back and re-order a functional part.

Wife was driving the car 6-21-16 at approximately 55 mph when suddenly and unexpectedly the car lost power. She was able to get the car off the road without incident but could have been rear ended. Drivetrain malfunction/reduced power icon was displayed on instrument panel. Car was towed to nearest ford dealership but no problem was found. I picked the cat up and drove it until the morning of 6-26-16 and the same thing happened to me. I got off the road, put the car in park, turned the switch off and pulled the key out. I waited a few minutes, put the key back in, started the car, put the shifter in drive and was able to get back home. Waiting on a call back from the dealership now to see what my next step should be. Definitely a safety issue!

Vehicle was in motion at highway speed when itsuddenly decellerated and check engine light came on.driver was able to steer/coast to side of road.engine was running, but vehicle had no acceleration.vehicle was towed to a dealer and dealer replaced the throttle body part.dealer indicated defective throttle body parts were not uncommon on ford vehicles.sudden decelleration could have resulted in significant safety risk had traffic been heavier and/or less skilled driver.

The locking mechinism has broken twice on the rear passanger seatbelt.

The contact owns a 2015 ford flex. While as a passenger in the vehicle, the middle row seat on the right inadvertently moved forward. As a result, the seat collapsed and the head rest struck the contact in the back of the head. The contact sustained injuries to the head and eyes that required medical attention. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but the cause of the failure could not be determined. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 11,000.

A ford lincoln dealer installed a new battery cable assembly (part da8z*14300*ba) in my 2015 ford flex on 8/5/2021. After 20 miles of driving in two trips the power steering failed at the start of a third trip on 8/6/2021. I struggled to get the vehicle to a parking lot and turned it off. The yellow image of a car skidding had appeared on the information display. I turned the vehicleback on and the steering operated as normal. I drove the vehicle again on 8/8/2021 and it operated as normal. It is necessary for ford to inform all owners of this issue as it could result in an accident if a driver is not aware of the potential for a power steering failure.

Power steering suddenly failed.system warned of vsc fault, then steering assist fault, then there was no power assist, at 50mph.i was driving straight on an airport access road.the problem persisted for a 2 miles or so, when i was able to get it off the road safely.when i turned off the ignition and re-started a few minutes later, the problem was gone, as were the warnings.

I was driving at 70mph and started receiving warnings about my advance trac.i that point i slowed down and pulled over and lost all power steering.

The power steering system reverts to manual steering mode due to the power steering control module (pscm) detecting a motor position sensor fault. In manual steering mode there is still a mechanical linkage between the steering wheel and the road wheels, allowing steering control to be maintained. When this condition occurs, a message displays in the instrument cluster message center and a chime sounds to inform the driver. Loss of power steering assist requires greater steering effort, especially at lower speeds, which may increase the risk of accident.this has occurred on three occasions. Also see ford recall 15s18.

The contact owns a 2015 ford flex. The contact stated while driving 25 mph, the power steering failed not allowing the contact to steer the vehicle. The contact stated that the power steering assist warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed with the power steering assist needing to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was relating the failure to an unknown recall. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure and referred the contact to the nhtsa for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 96,000.

My power steering failure indicator came on (while i was driving), indicating a need for immediate service. Upon testing, it was determined that the steering gear was faulty...on a 2015 vehicle!!this could have caused an accident if the gear failed while i was driving.i would not expect such a failure in a 2015 vehicle. It looks like previous ford models have been recalled due to a similar issue. I think there must be a design or manufacturing flaw. Given that this is related to steering and creates a high risk of injury in the event of an accident, i recommend that this be fully investigated.

Vehicle was in motion on a highway, several warnings quickly appeared on the dash then simultaneously all power steering functions stopped working and vehicle was extremely difficult to steer. When trying to guide the vehicle to a stop, the steering wheel was trying to correct itself resulting in the vehicle being completely inoperable. The dealership found that the (pscm) power steering control module failed and needed to be replaced resulting in a $2,200 charge on a vehicle with 52,000 miles.

Door latch failure. Noticed problem with door ajar light lit for a couple days. Subsequent battery draining problems. Seems due to keeping lights on in car because it thought doors were open even though they were securely shut. Within couple days front doors were totally inoperable. Could not open from inside or out of car. Required entry from rear seat. Then upon driving to dealer for diagnosis the door ajar light lit up and released the door latches so that both of the doors attempted to open while driving at highway speed. This condition happened twice. This issue seems to directly mimic multiple known issues for ford flex models and many other ford models around this same time. At this time, 2015 flex models are not included (despite the obvious exact same condition). I have been notified by my local dealer, fulton ford in fulton, mo that it will cost me nearly $1000 to repair both front doors that failed at the same time. Repair is to take place on 01/30/20 (was diagnosed on 01/29/20). They have checked and acknowledge this might be a wider ford issue but our car simply doesn't have a current recall so nothing they can do. Seems totally out of place since there is enough evidence that this is an ongoing problem with ford door latches.

I was driving my 2015 ford flex and i made a right turn going less than 5mph. Once i straightened out my steering wheel, all within 2 seconds, i suddenly heard a grinding noise then my rear tire bent outward at an angle. I was told by the repair shop that if i was going at least 25mph, the whole tire would of flown out and caused worse injury. The repair shop informed me that the rear left toe link is going bad as well and it looks like this is possibly be a defected part ford is using. Ford is refusing to help or care about this problem. There was no warning that the part was bad and the car never drove bad. This all happened out of no where. This is very unsafe and needs to be investigated. This part was recalled in canada in june 2019. It needs to be recalled in usa as well.

Exhaust leak into vehicle when going up hills or accelerating.dealer testing showed high levels of carbon monoxide in vehicle.after being in the shop for 9 continuous weeks they have reduced but not eliminated the exhaust leak

Vehicle has outside door lock controls, built into the front door handles.these are activated by sensors built into the handles.over the last two days the sensors haveintermittently.failed to work.when asked members of a ford flex chat board to which i belong have told me several have had similar failures, and one said his 2014 flex was fixed under a manufacturer's recall.i just checked, and there is no outstanding recall on my 2015 flex.although i am able to gain entry with my remote fob, this seems a safety related situation in that the driver of such a vehicle becomes accustomed to leaving the remote in a pocket or purse, and if the door sensor fails to unlock the door when the vehicle is parked in a traffic way, the driver could be exopsed to danger from passing traffic while trying to understand what has happened.this situation occurs when the vehicle is parked, either in a parking lot or on street-side.it does not occur when the vehicle engine is running or in motion.

I was driving in the highway going about 65 mph when without warning i started loosing speed and ended going 20mph. I was able to pull of to the shoulder and notice a wrench icon appear in the dash before the car lost power. It was an extremely scary situation and i was thankful i was able to get to the shoulder of the highway without any incident. I towed it to my ford dealer which is still there being diagnose. I don't know what happen but i believe its a defection because nothing was done to cause it. These is a very dangerous defection and can cause the life of the driver and passangers. I want to make the ford company aware of this situation and demand it takes action before a tragedy happens. I hope my ford flex is fixed but i will never feel fully safe in this vehicle again. I never knew that manufactures would be careless enough to place these defective cars on the road and now i am stuck with one. Please have a recall of these ford vehicles before lives are lost.
