While driving in town, heard a noise in engine compartment, upon inspection, noticed spark plug blew from engine. A few years later it blew another spark plug. Repair shop inserted helicoil both times.

The 5.4l engine has blown 3 spark plugs now ,cylinders 7,6,and 4.

For the second time in 10 years a spark plug has blown out of the head on the engine the second time being today july 13th 2016 my concern besides the fact that the spark plugs are blowing out is the possibility of fire gas papers being ignited by the spark plug on top of the engine instead of in the engine the first time it happened i was driving on the interstate running 60 miles an hour the second time it happened was this morning on the entrance ramp getting on the interstate

I just left home and have had prior problems. I was traveling about 35-40 mph when boom tat tat tat tat tat tat. I lost control major control of my truck. I got it pulled off the road where i lifted the hood and sure enough a plug had been blown out of the block, had broken the coil pack and was laying on top of the motor. I have researched this and this is a very dangerous and common issue with the vehicle. I drive my nieces and nephews most days and do not need fuel to be ejected out causing an engine fire. Why has ford not been held accountable for this?

I've had two spark plugs blow out of the engine. Both on driver side. Tearing up their boot and breaking off the coil. The cost to replace the boot and coil is aprox 50+ each time. First time i was driving aprox 35mph when it blew out the second time aprox 45mph. 2000 ford f250 gas engine super duty extend a cab.

Engine on my 2000 ford f-250 v10 started "missing" intermittently about 1 week ago.yesterday, the "service engine soon" light came on.about 10 miles down the road, the engine ejected a spark plug out of the cylinder head while towing at 50 mph.vehicle is at ford dealership now for assessment and repair.

Spark plug blown out of cylinder head.

Spark plug blown out of ford v10. It was the factory plug to the best of my knowledge. Installed heli coil and been good since.

2000 ford super duty crewcab with a "service engine soon" light that will not stay off. Obd code reads gross vapor leak. After 8 attempts to correct, dealer is unable to find problem.all parts of the vapor system have been replaced including the on board computer. Personal research indicates that other ford truck owners are experiencing the same problem.

Valve stems became loose and allowed air pressure to go to zero.

I was driving down the road, heard a loud pop and lost power and control to the vehicle. Pulled onto the shoulder and found the engine had blown a spark plug out of the cylinder head. Had to take to dealership to replace the aluminum, poorly engineered cylinder head. Many, many, many people have reported this same issue and nothing is being done. This has the potential of causing engine fires as the fuel rail can be damaged and ruptured when the plug is ejected out of the head. This needs to be recalled. See how many people are reporting this at:http://www.consumeraffairs.com/automotive/ford_spark.html .

2000 ford excursion with 7.3 power stroke diesel.sudden stall of engine while driving. No warning, just quit while driving causing loss of power steering and power brakes which are necessary for adequate control of a vehicle of this size.replacement of the camshaft position solved the problem. To date, and 260,000 miles on the vehicle, this sensor has failed three times.i now carry a spare sensor, and know how to replace it.

Cam position sensor failed without warning truck shut-off and would not restart on busy residential street. Vehicle had to be towed.

Truck engine quit running. Can happen at any engine speed has happened in park and while driving. Troubleshoot problem. Bad cam position sensor. Ford f250 with 7.3 diesel.

This is my second ford truck in a year 1/2 and my forth motor i am experiencing a loud engine knock on cold start up. The knock gets louder and longer. Ford has replaced lifters on my 2000, that did not take care of the knock. I have talked to different people that own the 5.4 engine and they expereince the same noise. I havefound most people do not notice the noise because of the radio,as well as the bell noise when you first start the truck. I have also had a spark plug ejected from the cylinder head of my 1999. The ford dealer want to replace my 2000 5.4 engine with a new one . How much should a consumer take. Here i go again with engine replacement in a new truck less than a year old. Please help!!!! thank you!!!

Second spark plug in my 2000 ford v10 has blown out of cylinder head in last three months. Last plug came out tuesday after christmas. Dealer now says it needs to do $3475 head replacement for both heads.

I have a 2000 f-250 with 62,000 mi. And had one of the spark plugs back out and strip out the last few threads. I spoke to a mechanic who told me that the 5.4 engine is known for this and that fords only fix to it was to replace the head at @ $1500.00 per head. He referred me to another mechanic that devised a cheaper fix of retapping the plug hole. This mechanic said that he personally has done 5 to include my truck.

My vehicle has blown out a spark plug on two separate occasions while on the freeway almost causing a accident on both incidents. I know that this is a major problem do to what i have found on-line. There is even a company that makes a repair kit and it is only a matter of time before someone is stranded in a remote area which will be very dangerous.

Bolts rusted to my manifolds ( on both ) sides.had to have both manifolds replaced and the heads bored out.if i did not realize the noise and had it fixed it would have cracked my heads.

Right headlight very dim. Wiggle switch and it used to return to full bright now it stays dim. Replaced bulbs no change. I have seen this other ford super duty trucks here in conyers ga.

Multiple transmission failures

I orderd my truck with 4 wheel abs-the dealer said it was standard equipment-the dealer paperwork from ford says it is standard equipment-when the truck came in the window sticker says it has it on the truck as standard equipment-it does not have 4 wheel abs. This is a safety problem for me because i orderd abs and the truck was designed for abs.( dot number: ? tire size: lt26575r16 )

While backing and applying brakes at the same time on a hill, you are not able to turn the steering wheel.also during a panic stop the steering wheel locks up,this is a very dangerous condition.dealer says this is normal for the ford superduty truck.i dont see how this can be normal if you cannot turn the sreering wheel while appling the brakes.

Brake line failure.rubbed hole in brake line.

Loss of steering would occur whenever brakes are applied, it forced vehicle to wander across the road; vehicle has been in and out of dealer shop on several occasion, and informed consumer that they cannot correct the problem. Consumer states the hydroboost system prohibits steering while braking in most hard braking/emergency situations, when full brakes are applied the steering system is rendered inoperable.

When the brakes are applied you can not steer the truck, i complained to nthsa in 1999 i had a very close call, the other auto moved just in time, i could not turn with the brakes applied.

3 of the 7 people i know with similar vehicle have had problems with the steering gear box.the dealer says that he has heard of the problem.

I am experiencing a severe problem with the steering on my truck.when parked, stopped, or idling, i am unable to turn the wheels in either direction, regardless of surface.this is an issue of safety.i have taken it to the dealer twiceand although they are helpful and sympathetic, they are unable to fix the problem.i do not appreciate putting my family in danger as we pull our travel trailer and might incur an instance where i would need my truck to be able to turn and it will not.i have contacted ford motor company and am waiting for a reply.

I was driving up the hill towards tacoma just off the bridge.traffic stopped suddenly and i had to lock my brakes.when i locked them the truck would not turn either way until i let off the brake more.it seems when the tires are not moving very fast that the power steering will not work.it was a very scary situation and this is not the first time it has happened.i have a hard time turning in to parking spaces also when the truck is not moving quickly.this is a very scary problem as i don't believe i could steer myself out of an accident with the brakes applied.

The power steering pump on these trucks provides the steering assist and brake assist. When you apply the brakes moderately hard to hard, you have no power steering assist and the steering wheel locks up due to the weight of the vehicle. This makes braking and steering impossible. Ford is doing little to resolve this problem. They also have oem ball joints that are sealed and they get stiff which makes turning the wheel without power assist impossible.

Complete tread separation of the left front tire, causing total steering loss.

I have found on numerous occasions that if you hit your brakes to avoid something at speeds under 40 mph you cannot steer at the same time! yesterday i almost ran over a sea wall into the ocean when i was braking in a 45 degree corner and tried to steer around it.this has happened other time while trying to avoid other autos, animals ect. But never this bad.i have since driven 2 other trucks of the same body style in our campground and they exibit the same problems.

With the truck at idle and the brake pedal depressed to hold the vehiclepower steering is lost.when holding the truck at idle on a hill with the brakes you can not turn the steering wheel.power steering pump is sued for both the power steering snd the power brakes.on 12/27/00 kurt bruhn of mointicello ford told me this was "normal".invoice #focs228723.this is not only inconvenientit is unsafe.

Intermittently while driving at low speeds 0-15 mph andwhen applyingbrakes, steering wheel locked up, causingconsumer to hit a fence post on august 18, 2000. Vehiclewas serviced by the dealership prior to this incident. Dealer stated that ford considered this a normal condition, but has agreed to replace power steering pump.please provide any further information.

Wheels vibrate excessively.

Severe vibration is experienced while driving over rough pavement. This vibration is felt in the steering column, steering wheel, and the front end of the vehicle. Ford has worked on this chassis 4 times to try to repair the problem. Tsb 00-21-09 has been completed along with replacing the front shocks, and shaving about half of the tread from the tires to make them round.currently all of the springs have been found to be bad and are being replaced. Since this vibration has been present from the date of purchase, it leads me to believe that were bad from the date of manufacturing.

Front wheel hub bearing, catastrophic failure. With almost no preceding evidence of a problem, the right front wheel hub bearing failed, causing the tow vehicle, ford f350 drw 6x6, to abruptly veer from side to side. The stabilizing anti-sway equipment that connected the truck to the 34' travel trailer enabled me to keep from inadvertently exiting a 200' high bridge. Events leading up to the abrupt failure was the appearance of the abs warning light. We stopped to check the wheels for excessive heat, and noted no pulling or noise.all brake applications were smooth and no directional control problems were noted. Until we began the climb up and over the jacksonville fla i-295 bypass bridge over the st johns river.as we began the descent [center lane] the vehicle began to violently lurch from side to side, the steering wheel driven to full left and then full right rotation--the vehicle/rigwobbling from lane to lane.we noted no evidence of smoke, hot brakes. I applied brakes to slow us down as we entered the exit ramp, we lost all truck brakes and i used the jordan trailer brake controller to bring the rig to a halt. 2. Upon delivery to a ford dealership, the technicians discovered a total failure of the right front wheel hub bearing.had the truck been driven without the airstream travel trailer and reese strait line dual cam sway system, we would have been certain fatalities. 3. The mike shad ford truck center replaced the damaged equipment [axle, hub assembly, bearings, all electronics related, new brake assembly and re-aligned the front end. ]a discussion with the truck center manager revealed that 1. Having gone 95.570 miles and not have incurred a failure of the hub bearings was unique for the collective experience over decades shows these factory sealed bearings fail around a mean mileage of 40,000 miles...

Failureof front wheel bearing at 60,000 miles.

I just put these tires on my ford f250 2 months ago and i have had 3 blow out that almost overturned my trailer 2 times.

Tire blew out, i have pics, let me know where to e-mail them.firestone says it is my fault because i ignored the early warning sings of a blow out.i'd like to know what they are. (dot number: vnq81xltiresize: 265/75r/16)

This tire completely blew out the outside sidewal, there isno evidence of the tire being run hot or low. It appears as if the tire came apart at the the juncture of the sidewall and the tread. It also appears as if the rubber sectio9ns aren't bonded well. This tire on the back side is still on the bead, the tread is still in good shape. It looks as if someone just cut around the sidewall and took it off the tire. Are there any other complaints like this about these tires?

Tire sidewall blewout at 75 mph without warning.

I purchased my year 2000 ford f-250 super duty pickup in jan 2000.it was delivered equipped with firestone steeltex at tires.at approximately 9,000 miles, cracks began appearing in the sidewalls of the tires.on one tire, a white layer is now exposed beneath the cracks.( dot number: vdwb tire size: lt26575r16 )

On 07/05/00 this vehicle was found to have two large bubbles about the size of softballs on the inside sidewall of both tires. The vehicle which hauls hazmat materials was placed out of service and towed to academy ford where both tires were replaced with like tires of same manufacturer and size. On 07/31/01 this same vehice was placed out of service enrouteand was towed back to main shop for the same type of defect in tire on front of vehicle. This is the third tire of this type to develop the same problem adn we find it hard to believe this is just and isolated incident. We have other vehicles of the same identical type with different manufactured tires, and have never experienced this problem. (dot number: ador 1jctiresize: 235/85r16)

Traveling west on i-40 in oklahoma going 75 mph when right rear tire blew out. Pulling to right side of road safely and quickly as i could. After existing the vehicle and discovering that the sidewall separated from the tire completly. I am taking tire to firestone on 23 apr 2001 to see what they are going to do. I did not hit or run over anything when this blowouthappened. I wanted you to be beware of this situation since it is another firestone tire side wall seperation. I could not find any recalls on this tires even though ford insure me these tires were not part of the last recall. If you can shed any light on this tire or what other precautions i should take would be appreciated. Right now i will not travel anymore long distances until i have firestone replace all my tires. I have had blow outs before but not one when the whole sidewall comes off. There are no punctures on the tread side or sidewall.(dot number: db647p 604tiresize: lt26575r16)

Complete tread separation of the left front tire, causing total steering loss.

Newspaper, august 2007, identified my vehicle was subject to recall. Contacted ford to verify recall. Ford verified but refused to issue letter. Finally got a letter dated september 2007. Ford identified two dealers for my area. One sunland ford stated they never knew when parts would be available and made no effort to schedule a repair. Second dealer said he would call when he had parts.no calls. Received new letter from ford 26 october 2007. Called second dealer to schedule repair 29 october 2007. Dealer said no parts were expected until after 1 december 2007. I had this same experience on a 2001 navigator beginning 2002 and never was able to have the repair made. I ended up disposing the vehicle. I do not plan to chase after ford any more.

I have a 2000 ford f350 dwd 4x4 and have had both front stock aluminum wheels develop large cracks and deemed unsafe. My wife contacted ford to inquire if there was a recall, and the answer was no, she took it to ford, and they looked at the truck, and did nothing else. Furthermore, they did not want to discuss the issue and told her there was nothing that would come of it. There will be accidents and perhaps deaths from the rims being defective. I have talked to everyone i could find driving the same vehicle, and all have had the same problems exactly. There should be a recall on these wheels.this statement makes the nhtsa liable should there be no action on their part and there be any accidents with deaths.

I am told that the vibration of the rv is caused by the hubs being "stud-piloted moounting system" and the wheels are "hub piloted wheels system"they do not mate and ford has not acknowledged the problem after several telephone converstions and letters.
