Was having problems starting the vehicle. Sometimes it would start, sometimes it wouldn't.

Driving on the freeway a spark plug came out of the engine causing the vehicle to shake and loose power.the dealer and a shop i took the vehicle to stated that this is a frequent problem with this engine.

A spark plug ejected from the right side head of the engine head while running down the hwy at 60 mph.the head might be damaged. I haven't had a chance to get it fixed. Been a ford truck guy all my life & i can't believe ford hasn't accepted any responsibility of any portion or kind for this. My estimated expense to repair this is $1,000 to $3,000 depending on any damage to the head etc.. I paid $4200 for the truck in april of 2013...it is in very good condition & to good to junk in my opinion. Besides i can't afford to buy another truck so i have to try to fix it.this is beyond disappointing, it is a major blow to the budget etc. Etc. Etc......

Was driving down the road at 35 mph and heard a pop then the engine started to run rough. Took to the mechanic said that i had a blown spark plug.

I woke up last week to the sound of a car alarm. I looked outside and the front of my ford f 150 was engulfed in flames. It was so hot the tires melted into the driveway. We had not driven the truck in several days. It appears the fire started in the engine as the entire front of the vehicle is incinerated.

Spark plug blew out of engine while driving.

Excessive exhaust smoke. Poor performance.

My truck threw a spark plug while driving down the road. This is the second time it has done this and the same exact one as before.

Blew spark plug out of head while accelerating to get on highway. Had gas spill on motor. It has the 5.4 triton motor.

2002 ford f150 5.4 liter engine2 months ago i had a spark plug thread failure on my f150. It cost 400.00 to repr the vehicle so that it could be driven.1500 miles later i have another thread failure causing another plug to be spit out of my6 cylinder head.i have been told by dealerships and mechanics that this is a common problem and that i can replace the heads with new ones but that they can not guarantee that it would not happen again.or i can have both heads removed and have inserts machined into the heads to prevent anything from failing again.the cost of this process is 2200.00.i have now spent 2600.00 on the engine in 2 months time due to a improper manufacturing of the heads that were made for this engine.i would like to see a defect recall made on the heads and possibly be reimbursed for some of the expense.

Truck experiences a "rough idle" at all conditions where engine is idling.

I made a trip to california and right before i left i had the oils changed on my truck. My truck had about 15,000 miles on it. The trip was 1,000 miles round trip and it used 2 1/2 quarts of oil. I took it to the dealer and was told that it was normal to use that much oil. And they changed the oil to a different weight to do a test on oil consumption. It still uses oil and now the motor smokes when you first start it up. And if it sits for a couple of days it will know loud when you start it. The for d dealer said this is normal. *nlm

I bought my truck under the assumption that i wouldn't need to do a major tuneup until 100,000 miles.prior to that, i had to get one at 60,000 miles, 3-5 months after that one of my spark plugs shot out of the motor, leading to having to have the head replace.i received no reasonable explanation on what would have caused that or why would it happened.the dealership and ford wanted to charge me 3,600 dollars to fix it.i was wondering if anyone else had this problem with a ford f150 or had there been some kind of recall?if so, is there some kind of legal action i can take against ford for this .

Ford triton v8 spark plugblew out of head2002 f250.

Excessive exhaust smoke. Poor performance.

The fuel tank straps on my 2002 ford f350 rotted out to were the fuel tank was hanging all mosthitting the ground, could have been a major diesel spill with 38 gallon of fuel.

Excessive exhaust smoke. Poor performance.

Throttle body linkage "plasticcover clamshell"cracked in half at plastic hinge (oxidized plastic) .loose plastic cover wedged open throttle fully causing "dangerous life threatening"driving stuck at full throttle.i have the cover and photos if you want me to send them.

Fuel tank straps rusted and broken causing tank to almost fall out

Fuel tank straps failed while driving resulting in the tank dropping.the front of the tank contacted the road surface resulting in a leak and spilling of approximately 21 gals of fuel on the road.no fire resulted but the hazmat team was required to clean up the spilled fuel.the 2002 f 150 was towed to a ford dealer for repair.

I have a 2002 ford f 150 xlt supercrew with the 139 inch wheelbase. Upon arriving home my wife said she noticed something hanging below the truck.. I went out to inspect. The front fuel tank retaining strap was hanging there. The bolt side had rotted away approximately 6 inches down from top. Rear strap was inspected and showed signs of rust but still in place and functioning as intended..i have moved the vehicle inside to avoid using it and will order new strap in morning. I had heard ford was looking into this problem has it been resolved ? do i have recourse ?thanks.

Due to a design flaw in the ford 5.4 engine my 2002 harley f-150 blew a spark plug last weekend (2/15/04).ford is only willing to replace the one head with the newly designed head (and that is costing me $500 because my truck has 40,000 miles).it's a known design flaw and has happened to many owers with less than 10,000 miles.ford needs to stand behind their product.

While backing into my truck started making a load noise, it was obvious it was in the front end. Trying to turn the steering wheel, it was stuck. Stopped the truck, looked under the front of truck at steering, i noticed that there was a hole in the frame, it was then that i saw the steering link, against the right cv axle. The idler arm had some how ripped off the frame, leaving na hole where the idler arm was, the frame of the truck had weakened, causing the metal to weaken and separate, thank again ford.

We have owned our 2002 f150 4 door truck for 5 months now purchased in dec 04', we have 34,000 miles on this truck which was purchased used. On saturday 4/23/05 our transmission completely slipped out leaving us no power on a busy, hilly, country road. The truck's rmp's would go up however, the truck was not gaining speed only losing speed, we are very lucky that no one came over the hill, or this would have caused a major wreck. Once we got us and vehicle to safety we called our ford dealership chuck anderson ford, who told us to have it towed in. However, they would not cover the tow since it was out of warranty. The vehicle evidently went out of warranty on feb. 14th of this year 2005. I don't believe a truck with only 34,000 miles on it should have a transmission blown in it. We then had the truck taken to the dealership. I have spoken with the dealership today, which we we're told we would have to cover the deductible of $400/500.00 for this repair. They are now tearing the transmission apart.

Vibration in drivetrain at highway speed (between 65 -75 mph). Only happens when truck is under power. As soon as you remove your foot from the pedal, the vibration goes away. Drive shaft was replaced over 6 months ago, but that did not fix the issue.

I have a 2002, ford f150, v-6, super cab, xlt, with 47000 miles. The abs light came on. A ford specialist has it diagnosed as a failed abs computer module (which currently is a one piece module). It needs to be replaced with a new redesigned - module consisting of 3 parts - . This repair is very costly in parts - over $ 900.00. It does not affect regular braking and i assume that abs - braking is disabled at this time (did not have to use it so far). It seems to me, that the abs module is a bad design by ford and therefore is not used again if it fails.if you get more reports like this please investigate and consider a recall initiative....thank you........klaus-peter meinhard.*la

No warning-upon attempt to engage shift selector into "r", the entire shift selector broke in half at the shaft connection inside the column . The structure appears to have been manufactured from a material often referred to as "pot-lead". Had to have vehicle towed home at my personal expense. Could not disengage transmission from the "park" position and could not remove the ignition key.

I am trying to find out if there are any recalls or technical service bulletins on the following vehicle.2002 ford f150 supercrew 4 - wheel drive.this vehicle seems not to be listed in your data base.

We notified the dealer of the paint cracking and failing after having the vehicle only a year and half.they first stated that the truck had obviously had some type of repair work done, but after researching it in the enternal data base found that was not the case, and it was in fact a paint failure.they have also stated that they will correct the effected areas.our problem is that the effected ares are half of the truck, and they are not willing to repaint the entire vehicle.we have a major purchase of a $30,000.00 truck, and now half of it is going to be be shade of black and the rest will be another.i can see them not repainting if it was something we had done to cause this and it being covered under warranty, but this is not the case. I have owned nothing but ford products since being able to purchase a car, and i am totally disheartened with their lack of caring.cars are no longer a small purchase... They are expensive and a huge investment.i don't believe that they should be able to get away with such things... This is a factory problem and they should be doing everything within their power to correct the vehicles to the cumstomers satisfaction.thank you for your time. Gas petal sticks and when pushed on truck accelerates rapidly, this happens when starting out from a stop and during all driving.

Cruise control was on as we proceeded up a hill.when driver tried to disengage the cruise control it would not disengage.engine continued to excel, going faster.it reached speeds of almost 80 mph.hitting brakes would not stop cruise control, nor slow the vehicle.*nlm
