The contact owns a 2007 ford f-750 sd.while driving in reverse at 5 mph, the air muffler became unwelded and the air brakes failed.as a result, the contact could not stop the vehicle.the dealer stated that he must purchase new parts and repair the vehicle himself.the contact purchased the new parts, which are now a different design, and made a mechanic perform the repairs.the vehicle is currently driving properly.the failure mileage was 23,079. Updated 3/9/09 the consumer stated the brakes failed while he was backing out of his driveway. The problem was a faulty air muffler that was improperly welded. Updated 03/11/09.

After a repair to the transmission by a licensed facility, the prop shaft departed the rear axle due toa flange breaking.the prop shaft failed around and tore off the wiring harness to the transmission and the rear brake lines; the cable to the emergency brake was also compromised. As a result, the engine stopped. Allpower steering and all braking was lost; the truck rolled to a stop, and then rolled backwards on a busy highway.the driver was able to steer the vehicle into a snow bank. I feel this is a safety issue as a failure like this should not have caused such a catastrophic loss of control- the front brakes at least should have worked.
