Dt*: the contact stated there is not enough clearance on the hub pilot rear wheels to be able to remove the wheels.in 2004 an independent repair shop used a cutting torch to remove the wheels in pieces.at that time the repair shop applied two new rear wheels and remounted the tires.now the same thing is happening with the replacement wheels. Additionally the horn blows on its own.an independent mechanic replaced the horn relay.shortly after the replacement the horn sounded again on its own.this is more likely to happen in damp/ humid weather conditions.the dealership was made aware of the problems.

I've had two spark plugs blow out in the last five hundred mile in my 2000 f-450.i've got to say its a real hazard to be hauling a load, suddenly loose drastic power and be rattled by the abrupt spark plug explosion.not only that, but the fuel rail is right there.in fact the second spark plug i had eject made a series of explosions while i was traveling up hill on a very busy narrow road pulling my chipper.both times i smelt a strong and consistent odor of fuel, another hazard.both times the truck hesitated and attempted staling while in travel.the ford dealership tells me this is a common occurrence, and say ford know about the problem but doesn't care.experiencing this first hand; twice now, i can tell you this issue is with out a doubt the most hazardous unprovoked vehiclehazard i've ever encountered.

Clutch came apart. Consumer was not able to push clutch into change gears, took to dealer, and they replacedclutch / flywheel and transmission.

Consumer hadto put on brakes and kill the engine,also, a/c went out 4 times.the clutch came apart and the pieces fell into clutch plate destroying front shaft of the transmission.

A faulty fuel line on a 2000 ford f450 brush fire truck failed, spraying diesel fuel onto the engine, causing a small engine fire, during an emergency response to a fire.fire was quickly controlled with onboard afff/water mixture.called to have repaired, mechanic came out to station, and replaced 2 steel fuel lines.mechanic stated he is surprised these fuel lines were never recalled, he had changed his out for a same failure weeks ago.apparently, the support bracket, that came on the original lines, the rubber inside the bracket wears out, so the line rubs against metal and weakens it.the new replacement lines do not come with this line.apparently this is a common problem according to the mechanic.old part is not available, mechanic threw it away.

Problemswith fuel system on 2000 f 450.*mrwhile driving the vehicle would stall and sputter.the consumer replaced the fuel filter and found it to be restricted.the next day the stalling resurfaced and the vehicle was taken to the dealer.the dealer determined that he inner coating of the fuel tank was coming apart.the dealer suggested the consumer have the fuel tank, sending unit and fuel filter replaced and the injectors cleaned. The consumer contacted the manufacturer but they were not willing to provide any assistance.

The contact owns a 2000 ford f450 super duty. The contact stated while driving at speeds of 60 mph, the vehicle began abnormally exhibiting signs of stalling and the contact was able to move the vehicle off the roadway before doing so. There were no warning lights illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact was able to restart the vehicle and drove to the dealer. The dealer advised the fuel tank would need to be replaced. The contact stated the fuel pump was previously replaced due to excessive rust and blockage for the fuel injector. The vehicle was not repaired because the necessary parts were on backorder. The manufacturer advised they would contact her when the part became available. The failure and current mileages were 60,000.

Dt*:the contact stated the vehicle lost power while driving under normal conditions.the contact, a mechanic for fleet,determinedthe fuel tank lining was coming apart and getting into the fuel system.the fuel tank needed to be replaced.the fleet has two other vehicles with the same problem.updated 02/02/07.

- the contact was having continuous failures with 2000 ford f450 truck.the fuel tankcorroded, causing it to clog the fuel injection system.the contact called ford ,and was told to contact nhtsa.the mechanic told him that there have been several ford fuel tankshaving the same failure.the original fuel tank was in the vehicle for 6 years, the firstreplacementof fuel tank lasted eight months.the vehicle was currently being repaired.

Dealership examined vehicle and determined that a clamp that holds hydraulic fluid hose toframe was missing, which allowed the hose to move underhood, causinghose to rupture.also,a stabilizer bar was not put in this vehicle to assist with steering control.please provide any additional information/attachments.*note: the dealership mentioned toconsumer that this problem occurred in one other vehicle.

Abs light is coming on, but one brake is locking up, other is not.brakes are acting erractically,causing poor brake performance. Dealer cannot determine cause.

The contact owns a 2000 ford f-450 sd. The contact stated that the frame was cracked on both sides of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a dealer for repair. The frame was welded on three different occasions however, the remedy did not repair the failure. The contact was informed that the vehicle would need a new frame. The vehicle was not repaired. Since purchasing truck i have talked to many people who have purchased ford 450's and all of them have had problems with their valve stems.several had 4 valve stem failures and advised me tochange mine. (dot number: cu9r hmtjtiresize: 22570r19.5)

Two general tires (225/70r19.5) experienced blowouts, these tires had less than 5,000 miles on them.nlm

Tires were original equipment on a 2000, ford, f450, tire size p22570r19.5,tires had thirty-three thousand miles on them, consumer noted three out ofsix tires failed. One tire went completely flat after driving into a hole. Second tire tread blewout completely out at sidewall, andthird tire tread separated fromentire tread frominner part oftread, outer part of the tread. 2nd tire blewout while vehicle was parked, both of the tires failed with only the weight of the truck, it was not overloaded, continental general, dot cu9r1hpk1300, size 19.5.

Firestone, steel tex radial tire,p225/75r16, load range e, dot unknown, original equipment on a 2000, big foot class c motorhome , ford f450 super duty chassis with 12000 miles. While driving 60 mphfront right tire had a blowout. *yd

Dueler right rear inside tire, original equipment,size 225/70r19.5, dot# cu9rihtk0400 blew out while putting air intotire.consumer received hand/arm injuries. Tire contractorfor continental tire was notified, and was unwilling to assist in this matter. Tire is available for analysis.*yd

On two occasions a tire on the vehicle experienced a sudden blowout, the first tire blewout while driving, this tire had 25000 mile at the time of failure, at this time the consumer discovered there was a recall (01v-046)on the valve stem and made an appointment with the dealer but prior to the appointment the valve stem had to be replaced due to a leak, the vehicle waw taken to the dealer for the recall but nothing was done, the second tire blewout while the vehicle was sitting a stop light, this tire had 28000 miles at the time of failure, the consumer is requesting reimbursement for the replaced tires (continental-general tire 225-70r19.5 lmt-400).nlm

Side of tire blew out as if sidewall was cut out, saw valve stem gone, replaced a four tires.

3 tires blew at the same time by sidewall coming apart, all on rear of vehicle.ford denied helping any in the situation.tires only have 11,000 miles on them and have been properly maintained.

Rubber valve stem kept coming offtire. Had to replace them with the metal steam. Dealer/general tires company were notified. Lowering psi to 80 works okay.the customer also replaced all rubber stems to metal steam.

Valve stems that go into wheels tore out ofwheels. When this happensvehicle tires blowout all at once whiledriving down the road.consumer has yet to contact dealer.

Tires were blowing out. Air pressure was too heavy for valve stem. Dealer stated stem was made of plastic. Please provide any further information.

There was a recall on the tire valve stem, but was not fixed since the dealer said it was ok. While the consumer was traveling, the out side left rear tire was losing air due to the defective valve stem which damaged the tire walls.

Valve stems are braking off at tire rim, causing tire to go flat.ford has been contacted. Ford has issued a recall #01v046 but only inspected vehicle for leaks.the valve stems need replacing.other valve stems are made from steel.these are made of rubber which can break off with a load.*jg

Tires were replaced under recall 01v046000, tires are still going flat.dealership stated wrong type of valves were installed. *jg

Consumer received recall 01v046000. Took vehicle in for service. Dealer inspected tire stem, found no leak. Almost a year later while driving both rear tires blewout as a result ofvalve stem coming out. Dealerrefused to replace tire.

Local goodyear representative says this has happened a lot - lug nuts recently tightened by fire department personnel.i am not the owner but am the fire chief.vehicle belongs to the town of dundee.the lug holes in the rims are widened.a number of the bolts are stripped and broken.this could be a serious safety problem.the vehicle is absolutely not overloaded.
