Since new vehicle purchase, my ford f350 diesel p/u experienced engine surging (200-250 rpm) while stopped with the automatic transmission in drive.the surge was significant enough to lurch the truck forward with the brake applied, such as at a stoplight.in several cases, i almost rear ended other vehicles before applying the brake hard enough to stop the truck from moving forward. I later learned to anticipate the surge using the brakes to minimize movement of the truck while stopped.my surging problem was confirmed on multiple occasions by technicians during test rides, but they could not duplicate the problem in the shop. I found a dealer who was willing to send a technician on a test ride with me and hook up an onboard computer laptop that identified the problem before reflashing the computer ecm.a number of surging complaints from other owners of ford f350 are posted in online forums documenting similar circumstances and frustration. My vehicle has been bucking and jerking intermittently since way before above.dateit stopped running at a stop sign then bucked and jerked soin 2013 it got so bad that i finally had it checked out.i thought it was transmission, had it checked and was referred to local mechanicwho was acquainted with the problem and has worked on several trucks with the 6.0 diesel engine.he said for $1200 you might repair it, no guarantees.he said it had to do with the electronic accelerator.i didn't have it repaired.in august 2014 it stopped and jerked at stops sign more than once.i took it to the same mechanic and he replaced a sensor located under the turbo, for $600,and that solved that problem.in october 2014 i was towing a trailer and the truck would not shift into 4th gear.i stopped and restarted the engine and it went back to normal operation, but it still bucks and jerks today i called my local ford dealer and he said that he has no recalls for my vin number.i only drive it occasionally. It has 59,000 miles on it now.

We have had several incidents where we are driving the vehicle and it will begin to shake and a puff of black smokes comes out of the exhaust. Then shortly after this happens, we you stop at an intersection, the vehicle will die. This has happened several times.have had it into the ford dealership on five occasions, they have said it is fixed, when it is not.when hooked to the computer, there is a definite problems. This last time, the dealership was unable to duplicate the problem.they say that their computer did not show any problems.there is obviously a problem or we would not have taken it in. We are making the payments and insurance, yet it sits in the shop. Have been in driving this vehicle that on 3 occasions where it has stalled in an intersection and could have caused an accident. Also has stalled at least 20 times when slowing for a red light or stop sign.

Diesel smell in the cab of a ford f350 truck with 6.0 engine. This is the second instance of this in this truck. Both have been covered by warranty, but the first time was in may of 05 and the second time was feb 06 is this going to happen again. The smell is sickening and if you do not open the windows eyes water, feel tired, sick to stomach, all not good for driving down the road (people really look at you like you are nuts when its 5 degrees outside and you are driving around with your windows open). This time it has been blamed on the exhaust manifold, the first time it was what they called the down exhaust pipe. I believe that there is a bigger problem which has to do with the 6.0 engine. Too much pressure for the exhaust. The other problem is with the radiator hose. I have 46700 miles on the truck and the radiator hose has to be replaced due to rubbing on the power steering gear box, ford will not cover this under warranty, even though they have come up with a new hose and new part number to stop this from happening. I have not been told if they are replacing the hose with the old style or the new style.

Loss of pulling power on my 2004 ford 350 super duty.the truck will lose power to pull under even a small load.when pulling out i have to have a large area of no traffic, have had several incidents where i came close to being hit in the side when i had a power failure and pulling onto roadway.i have had the problem looked at by a ford service center 11 times and they can not repair the problem and refuse to repurchase the truck.

Dt*: the contact stated upon starting the vehicle the oil pressure dropped and the engine died. The vehicle was towed to an independent repair shop where it was determined the oil pump and the lower intake manifold gaskets failed.the oil pump is made of aluminum which influenced the integrity of the pump, and caused the pump to wear out prematurely.the dealer was alerted of the problem, prior to the independent repair shop making the repair. Updated 5/10/2006 - the vehicle leaked coolant which caused the vehicle to overheat but the temp gauge did not indicate that the vehicle was overheating.the coolant also flowed through the egr valve which caused lose of power.

My 2004 ford f-360 truck would "cut out" and try to quit running when slowing for a stop sign or red light.thought it was bad fuel, fuel filters.had recalls done (gfr).problem began again and while my daughter was pulling a 16 ft. Trailer with one horse loaded, began to emit white smoke from the exhaust.the truck apparently overheated but the temperature gauge did not indicate such.truck was towed to dealer and they were 99% sure it was gfr again, but it was not.the problem is much bigger. Apparently it will cost $5-10,000 for repairs.the mileage is 104,000, just out of warranty and i did not purchase any extended warranty.i then had the truck towed to another dealer who said he could fix the truck for a lot less.but, his estimate was just as costly as the first estimate.the truck remains at the dealer as i refuse to pay that much to repair.

Own a 2004 ford f-350 sd.for years have had surging problems when driving.have taken into shop and they cannot determine reason.it happens while stopped or driving, surging and trying to jump because of the surge.turbo charger has not been replaced.

The pickup truck keeps running very rough and lurching forward while in drive. The truck has almost completely died on me several times. Even when you have your foot on the brake it will lunge forward and has almost caused me to hit the car in front of me. I have taken it to the dealer 5 or 6 time over the past several months. They have done a upgrade on the computer and replaced several valves/parts. Every time this mystery problem keeps coming back. It seems to surface at it's worst when the temperature outside gets warmer, above 50 degrees. Ford has basically been no help and seems to be stumped over the problem. I have spent at least $500 on a warranty item that has not been fixed. After reading other complaints, it seems as if i'm not the only one with this problem. This problem needs to be solved before it gets worse and causes accidents.

Occasionally while stopped in gear with the brake depressed my truck will "surge" and lurch forawd as the idle increases. If i'm not depressing the brake firmly the truck move foward and won't stop untill very firm pressure is applied to the brake.

I have a 2004 f-350 superduty 4x4 [6.0 diesel]. I drove through water the depth of the stock tires. The engine ingested water by way of the intake. I was advised by the ford dealership that the incident destroyed the engine. The air intake is located at the front grill. I believe this is a flaw in design, causing easy access for the water to enter from the air intake. I am getting no assistance from the ford company or my vehicle insurance in covering the damage, which is estimated at $ 15,000.00 dollars. I am not sure if this type of problem is occurring often.

All of the following is documented on fords computer system through magnussens in newark, ca.june04, started with a rough idle problem took my 2004 f350 back to dealer. Did a reflash seem to fix for a while. Progressed to rough and searching idle. Approximately 9 times back to dealer, each time either clear check engine light or replace parts, approximately 7 or 8 days out of service from june till late august, last time replaced the entire turbo assembly. Each time just replaced parts, never did the dealership or ford corporate have a definite answer to what caused the problem. Each time code p0299 was on the check engine. Between the 2 and 9th incidents, the vehicle stalled unexpectedly in the middle of a downhill coasting turn almost resulting in a crash each time. Total of 5 times, last occurrence of stall was first time vehicle presented any problems since turbo replacement on two thursdays ago on my way to work. After i got in to work i called ford support and my dealership and started a replacement process through what ford calls the dsb dispute settlement board. I am not comfortable driving this particular unit any more and fear i might not be able to stop the vehicle safely one of these times it stalls and may cause injury to myself or another. I have done a lot of research regarding others who might have had this problem and it led me here.

When truck originally purchased bubble on tire, and dealer said they all come that way, tire went flat while parked about a month later, no holes, we were told tire was no good, had to be replaced. Truck kept stalling, loss of brakes and steering while navigating downhill, solenoid assembly replaced. 2 days later kept stalling. Dealer had truck 21 days to rebuild transmission, again solenoid assembly replaced after that replaced wiring harness. Since then, caliper broke and brakes went, turbo has been replaced. Vehicle has repeatedly stalled, noises from rear end with no dx. Now engine smoking, loss of power, rpms jump while idling. Truck has also repeatedly changed gears automatically, ie while at red light truck would jump to 3rd and then truck would stall.

On 16 april 2005 , i took my f-350 turbo diesel dually in for 10,000 mile service ( vehicle had 9400 miles) also asked to have left speaker checked and scheduled an appointment for the recall on the transmission pins replacement. Upon completion of10,000 mile service i noticed that the vehicle was making a thumping sound when decelerating on the road . Went back to the dealership and asked that they check to see if everything was back in place , reason for this was that they replaced the left speaker and did not put the door molding back onwhen they gave me back the car. Service person road in the vehicle and stated that they knew what the problem was and that it was listed on the ford engineering website, they printed out the memo stating it was an known problem and had to do with the air filter vibration and that no adjustment was necessary. Upon leaving the dealership again for the third time the noise started to increase in volume and then would not accelerate , i returned and had the diesel mechanic test drive the vehicle , the vehicle showed no indication on dash panel and showed rpms increasing but vehicle not accerating and continuing to make thumping vibration noise. Mechanic stated i was not going anywhere with this truck . I have a loaner from the dealership and as of today april 25,2005my truck is still at the dealershipfor repairs.

Incident occurred in the afternoon, the temp was about 70 degrees. The truck was loaded with my family (5 including myself); we were traveling over a hill at about 50 mph. A sign indicated a 6 percent grade. On the way up the hill, at about 2000rpm and about 45 mph we noticed a large amount of black smoke being expelled from the tailpipe. There was no hesitation on power output at that time, then coasting down the other side of the hill the engine shut down. Fortunately we were able to narrowly avoid the traffic ahead with what little brake action i could apply. When the engine was started again, the "check engine" light came on. After being taken to the dealer the sensors were replaced on the turbocharger and other undisclosed work was done to the engine. Lately the truck has been mimicking these symptoms.

1.) i own an 04, f350 superduty, diesel truck.there are 2 fuel filters \ water seperators on it.one on the drivers side, under the frame and the other on top of the engine.owners manual reccomends that you must drain the one under the frame at least with every fill up to prevent water from getting into the engine.2.) the problem is that you must use an allen wrench under the frame to loosen the screw for the fuel in the filter to drain out.ford reccomends at least 25 seconds and into a container.i have done this 5 times now.4 times the screw has fallen out and i wassoaked with diesel fuel, and had a 45 second or so flow of fuel on the ground, contaminating it.3.)i feel that there needs to be a recall to change that drain screw to a petcock or a spring loaded screw to prevent the screw from falling out.this would prevent these small fuel spills that are harmful to the enviornment, and the dangereous fuel that is being spilled onto people.

Truck runs out of fuel showing 1/4 tank on gauge.

I was driving my ford f350 down a 2 lane road with a tractor trailer following close behind me at 60 mph when my truck stalled.to avoid being crushed by the semi i veered off the road to the right and put my truck into the ditch and the semi had to swerve to make it all the around me.the truck would not restart and had a quater tank of fuel in it.i had to leave the truck there till the next day.the next morning i called the local dealer velde ford they also said they couldn't tow it.i called a wrecker service and they hauled it to velde ford. Velde ford wouldn't have a diesel mechanic till monday. Velde ford also said they couldn't provide a rental car.they did find a third recall on my truck for the exhaust sensor.on monday, velde called me to tell me the fuel pump had gone out and they ordered a new one which would be there on tuesday.it was covered under warranty but they still couldn't reimburse me for the tow or rental car because the truck had 92,000 miles on it.even though the truck has 100,000 mile warranty because i didn't buy an extended warranty they wouldn't reimburse. I calledford customer service to voice my dissatisfaction with everything happening and they told me they couldn't do anything either and i had to continue to talk to the dealer.i explained to them that the fuel pump failing had the same safety concerns as the 05s34 recall had that the vehicle stalled while in motion which could have killed me and mypassengers but they didn't seem to concern with it because your organization wasn't involved.tuesday the fuel pump arrives but it seems that this is a new redesigned fuel pump because the old style had problems and they didn't order the required wire harness to go with it.thursday arrives and the new wire harness finally gets there.i have seen many people on rv website forums and ford truck forums with the same fuel pump problem on 6.0 liter diesel engine trucks.i hope you find this compelling enough to investigate.

Takata inflators;my vehicle started all types of problems intermittent ones that cost me several thousand dollars never fixing the problem this is were it all began,,.my vehicle died going up fairly steep hill to grave yard, it immediatelyrolled back shoving a family members vehicle down hill a ways until they turned away from the cliff edge leaving me all alone.until going through a run off ditch stopping over it into 2 trees. I had no steering no brakes and thank god the trees were there to stop my truck if not their was a 100 foot cliff next..i know nothing about recalls or such i just tried to fix my truck problem by problem as symptoms came on i have all types of recent receipts that all came from silverish dark maybe even gray matter stuff in the tank. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where they diagnosed the vehicle with a defective fuel injection control module. Casa ford (5815 montana ave, el paso, tx 79925) and the manufacturer were contacted and informed of the failure. The contact was informed that the vehicle was not subjected to a recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 220,000.

I recently attended a funeral for my nephew in omaha, ne.he had died on monday, january 2, 2006 in bellevue, nehe was in a car wash and (according to some witnesses), the ford f350 super duty diesel truck (i believe it was a 2004) suddenly went into reverse at a high speed and backed out of the car wash, across a street, across a lawn and onto a driveway with a wall. The truck was against the wall and the tires were still turning and the tires finally blew and caused a fire that consumed my nephew. I have heard that the autopsy report said that he died of smoke inhalation. He was badly burned.i don't know the cause of the accident. I 'm trying to get a copy of the police report from the bellevue police dept, but haven't heard from them yet.i don't know if this vehicle has any history of a similar problem, but i wanted to investigate the issue.

The front end auto hub did not disconnect from 4 wheel drive. The position switch was at 2 wheel drive. The dash light showing 4 wheel drive was off. Nothing indicated the vacuum system had failed to correctly position the auto hub. The front hub gearing was destroyed. Noise and funny steering. An internet search indicated this is a common ford problem and has been for years. It seems this problem could be avoided if the 4 wheel drive indication showed when the 4 wheel drive was engaged so the operator could take action rather than drive to auto hub failure.

While driving transmission hesitated when it switched gears ,and when you would reverse it hesitated so you could back up. Metal flakes were found in the transmission fluid from in the pan. Ford dealer was aware of the problem, and transmission has to be rebuilt. Other transmissions with similar serial #'s were under recall by ford motor company, but ours wasn't recalled ,and they were unwilling to rebuild it.

While driving up a hill there was erratic behavior in the transmission thatcaused inconsistency in the shifting. As a result, vehiclestalled in the middle of an intersection , and steering failed.

On two separate occasionsvehicle stalled.the first timeit was at 5 mph, and the second time it was at 35 mph. Vehicle was takento the dealer on both occasions, and they were not able to resolve/ duplicate this problem.....vehicle speeds up on its own and misses out running down the road at 60 mph.

Dt: contact states while driving vehicle it shifts into neutral.the service dealer informed him there was nothing wrong with the vehicle.

When truck was put in gear, the transmission would not go in gear. Also, when driving, i let off of the gas pedal, truck would stall, and then engage and then lurch forward, in traffic. Also, same problem in reverse.

There is a loud "clunk" from underneath the vehicle when taking off after putting the transmission in drive.the "clunk" happens about 5 to 10 feet after you begin moving forward and sometimes also when the vehicle shifts from 1st to 2nd gear and 2nd to 3rd gear.the "clunk" can not only be heard but also felt in the floorboards of the vehicle.sounds as if something in the transmission as let go.

While driving the seat belt will tighten.owner took the vehicle to the dealer, who easily identified the defect, but told the owner that it was a manufacturer design, and there was nothing else they could do.

While applying brakes in an attempt to stop, the brake pedal unexpectedly went directly to the floor, thus disallowing the truck to stop.the pedal was able to be pumped,up enough in order to stop the truck, but only one time.attempts to pump the pedal and increase the pressure enough for future attempts at stopping the truck were unsuccessful.inspection of the vehicle by certified mechanics revealed rust buildup on/near a weak spot on one of the braided, flexible front brake lines which had bursted, virtually making the brakes useless by disallowing pressure to be built up in the system.a further inspection of the system revealed a second braided, flexible brake line that was showing signs of rust buildup and eminent failure.the point of failure on both lines was the flexible, braided section itself, just adjacent to where it connected with the pre-molded portion of each line.

Engine began bucking, sudden power loss and power steering and power brake loss.mechanic conclusion was that the lining of the fuel tank had dislodged and caused the engine to foul, causing a sudden power loss.dealer said they had never heard of the problem but we later learned they were very familiar with it, had done dozens of repairs (replacement of tank with poly tank) and that a "secret" repair bulletin had been issued ty ford to all dealers.this issue is now the subject of a class action lawsuit in new jersey.google "ford fuel tank lining" for more info on the suit, but by not issuing a recall this issue is a potential safety concern.had we been in heavier traffic and unable to get the vehicle to the side of the road there may have been a serious accident.

At just under 25,000 miles, my rotors were warped on my 2004 f350 diesel dually (4x4 8'bed crew cab).i do haul trailers under 8000 lbs occasionally butthere has been no undo stress on this truck to warrant such a condition so early.even though my brakes were "in the green" at my last oil change at 20,000 miles, after my complaint they said my brakes were now in the red - along with my warped rotors.this definitely seems like a defect.

On march 5 2007 i was having problems steering my truck. I took it to an alignment shop. They told me to take it to the ford dealership. Ford said they repaired the problem. 4 days later i lost control of the truck in a curve and hit a dump truck. The contact owns a 2004 ford f-350. While the vehicle was being serviced by an independent mechanic, it was observed that the driver and passenger side inner rocker panels had severe corrosion, failed, and needed to be replaced. Two incidents happened the same day while drivingat 65 mph, vehicle stalled.this caused loss of steering and brakes. While waiting for stop light.vehiclelunged or accelerated up to 3000 rpms.

The consumer complainedabout sudden acceleration.while driving 35 mph the vehicle lunged forward with an increase in speed.the vehicle has been back to the dealers on 4 separate occasions.however, the problem recurred.the vehicle accelerates and lunges forward several times then dies.this is an intermittent problem.when the cruise control is set, the same thing occurs but only backwards when in reverse.the vehicle has been to the dealer six times and returned to the consumer un-fixed each time. *sc

We have had four separate incidents involving unintended acceleration with our 2004 ford f350.when applying the brakes, the vehicle suddenly accelerates.it has happened twice going down our driveway, once when driving in city traffic, and once when we were parking at a rest stop.the vehicle was driving at low speeds in all of these instances.in the most recent incident, the vehicle suddenly accelerated, jumped the curb and struck a trash can at a rest stop.thankfully no one was in front of our vehicle as they could have been killed.the vehicle also rear ended another vehicle in another incident.this has happened three times when my husband was driving and once when i was driving.after the most recent incident we googled this and found there are numerous class action lawsuits against ford for this issue, and that our year vehicle (2004) has one of the highest incident rates.

Speed control does not disengage when hitting the brakes. You must slow the truck down by several miles per hour before the system will disengage. (push hard and long). The problem will go away for a period of time if you preform an emergency stop that causes the anti-lock brake system to activate. This will cure the issue for awhile. But with normal braking the problem will return with in several days.

The contact owns a 2004 ford f-350. While driving various speeds, the vehicle suddenly shut off. Also, while idling, the engine rpms remained very high and the vehicle would attempt to surge forward. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who replaced the icp sensor and injector control sensor, but the failures continued. The manufacturer and local dealer were not notified of the failures. The failure mileage was 200,000.

While driving, the vehicle stall.the driver tried to restart, but was able to do so.the consumer noticed that the vehicle started accelerated suddenly without warning. The driver applied the brakes and the vehicle continue to accelerating with speed.the driver was able to maintain control of the vehicle and drove it to the dealer for inspection.the mechanic informed the driver that this problem could not be duplicated.please fill in additional information.
