Vehicle accident front end collision in which driver airbag failed to deploy.2001, ford, f350, vin 1ftww32s7ed86805.

I slid on black ice coasting down a small hill on the roadway doing 35 mph in a 45 mph zone. The momentum & weight of the vehicle made the vehicle veer off the road into a pine tree. Despite my best efforts to take my foot off the gas & steer in the direction where the vehicle was sliding (as we were always taught to do), i had no control over where my vehicle was going. I hit a pine tree rather hard. My friend was traveling behind me & watched it happen. I hit (bruised) my arm & knee but didn't require an ambulance. The frame, fender, hood & headlight all got crumpled. Luckily the steel frame, heavy large tow hook in front & steel bumper took most of the force causing those parts & the steel complete frame (including the leaf springs underneath) to crumple under impact. The pine tree wound up embedded in & all around that hook & grill. However, the force of such a crash should have deployed the 2 front airbags. Neither one did deploy! my question is, why didn't it?! the impact surely was one that should have deployed an airbag! are they defective?! luckily i didn't sustain great injuries or get killed. How are we to trust the safety of vehicles when the very parts that are installed don't perform their job? we trust the vehicles to be reliable & protect us. That's why we choose certain vehicles & pay big bucks to have the safety features we want in them & to protect us. Ironically, this wasn't the first time this happened. A family member's ford pickup's airbag never deployed either when they had a frontal crash. What is ford doing about addressing this issue with their vehicles' airbags not functioning?! in order to save lives a vehicle must be safe by being in good working order! we pay for safety & everything to be working properly yet are finding out ford vehicles aren't built as ford tough as they claim!

Consumer states while traveling at 30 mph consumer's vehicle rear endedvehicle ahead. Upon impact, none of the airbags deployed.

Truck was parked for 2 days since last driven in my driveway 5ft from house. Went to work at night in my other vehicle, came home and started to get my kids ready for school. No visible signs as i passed it on my way into my residents. About an hour later next thing i know a passing off duty fire fighter is banging on my front door, as i go to meet him i see my truck engulfed in flames. Truck is a total loss with fire protruding from hood and fenders reaching into the cab. Fire department finally put flames out after minor damage to other near bye vehicles. Looks as fire started under hood near master cylinder. Truck was repaired by ford for recall in 06 due to cruise control switch. It appears the same problem persists in new switches or repair was not done properly. Just contacted ford today about this issue as it just happened feb,2 2016. In the process of obtaining vehicle service records as i have a friend who works for ford. Clearly the fire originated from the same area as earlier recalls. 2001 ford f-350 vehicle speed controlnhtsa campaign #06v286000. Faulty exhaust manifold bolts break off and cause excessive noise, exhaust enters the drivers cabin, vehicle will not pass emissions inspection and is expensive to repair. I have 4 ford vehicles with this problem. First incident was at around 50,000 miles and 48 months after purchase. Ford refused to make repairs under any portion of the factory warranty. They claim lifetime emissions warranty doesn't cover it, nor the 100,000 powertrain warranty. I have spent over $8000.00 making repairs to these exhaust manifolds. Triton v-10 gas engine

We have replace 4 crank trigger sensors on our 2001 f350 super duty since we got it.yesterday i was driving the truck at 70 miles an hour on the freeway when it started to shake.i thought i had a flat so i lifted and got over to pull off the freeway, but the truck kept shaking and the speed was dropping fast.i turned on the emergency flashers and could do nothing except try to get it off the freeway.it stalled so i pulled off.it would not restart.after about 20 minutes in 16 degree temperatures i tried to restart.it did restart and i got up a ramp but the truck was chugging all the way and would not go above 15 miles per hour.this truck has quit in the worst places with no warning that the crank trigger sensor was going out.this is not the first time i have been not only stranded but in a dangerous place.this truck has not been abused and has had maintenance done regularly.ford and international harvester (maker of the part that dies) says that they have not heard of any others like this.but we have a lot of friends who drive the same truck and just about all of them have had this problem.we all carry spare crank trigger sensors and 10 mm sockets and drives to fix the problem when it happens.it is really an issue when you have to carry spare parts with you because you never know when it will go out.the part was in the truck less than 200 miles when it went.we replace the same part during christmas and we don't drive the truck every day.

Transmission failed on our 2001 f-350 at 66,463 miles. Vehicle was out of warranty and transmission had to be replaced at a cost of $3000. They denied any defects in the transmission. They stated we should have purchased an extended warranty.

Vehicle's transmission went hot and blew oil into the engine compartment causing a fire.*mrthe consumer stated the transmission still does not seem to perform correctly.

While driving at 45 mphtransmissionlocked up, andconsumer had to controlvehicle off the road. Contacted dealer, and the dealer replaced transmission.

Our concern stems from not only the failure of our transmission, but more importantly from the number of times we have been asked by others, if we have ever had transmission problems with this particular model.we frequently pull our fifth wheel rv and come into contact with numerous people at the rv parks.in too many conversations to recall, the topic of discussion has been the 2001 ford f-350 transmission problem.everyone seems to have either encountered the problem with their own truck or knows of someone who has.we began experiencing minor problems at around 17,000 miles which increasingly got worse.the planetary (sp?) gear is what we were told was the actual problem that ford has pinpointed with these transmissions.the number of transmission shipping cases alone, found in back of the dealership where we had our truck repaired indicative of a widespread problem not being addressed by ford.from what we have learned, this problem does not occur until your mileage is above 15,000.since the warranty on the transmission expires at 36,000, i expect ford is simply playing the odds on the required replacement happening after the warranty period rather than issuing a recall on the planetary (sp?) gear.thank you on behalf of all ford consumers for looking into this matter.vickie ragle.

Danger!!! when pressing on the brake pedal there is a loss of power steering and as a result the driver is unable to turn the steering wheel. This is especially dangerous in an emergency situation where a drivermayberequired to step on the brakes and turn to avoid an oncoming car.from reading the ford-diesel website this is a problem that has been identified both to ford and nhtsa but there has been no action taken by either parties.fordtells their customers that this is normal.please don't wait for someone to get hurt and take immediate corrective action.this is a serious design flaw which is a sitting time bomb and as dangerous as having bad tires.because every ford truck has this problem it does not give ford the right to say it is normal and their is nothing wrong.i will await a response from you before going to the ford dealer.thankyou.

With brakes applied steering can not be turned. Can not parellel park, make a u-turn,back up boat or camper easily,i am afraid that if i was driving and had to slam on the brakes i would be unable to steer the vehicle due to not being able to turn the steering wheel.ford has told me they know about it but there is nothing they can do to fix it. Also steering seems very sloppy and loose. Steering wheel moves when going over bumps ( left to right).

Total loss of steering upon braking.

Steering does not work while sitting still with brakes depressed. Ford says it's normal.

After multiple attempts to repair a drift in the steering, ford has told me they are aware of the problem and that currently there is no fix.this problem could likely result in an accident as the truck will drift the moment the steering wheel is released.i had originally been told by the service manager at my dealership that this was the way the truck was designed to respond.now finally they admit there is a problem.keeping constant pressure on the steering wheel causes me to suffer from pain in my arm after a long driving trip.it also causes great fatigue and i am afraid to let anyone else drive the vehicle.

I have pictures and video of the incident but cannot upload due to file format.

While driving on a well marked and well used dirt/rock backroad at 10-20 mph, the left rear tire suddenly failed catastrophically. The tread separated from the sidewalls and the inner sidewall wrapped itself around the axel severing the flexible rubber hydraulic brake hose. Since the sidewalls were destroyed, i am unable to furnish the dot number you requested. (tiresize: 265/75 r16)( dot number:tire size: 265/75 r16 )

At interstate speed valve stem came out of lf tire, followed shortly there after by all the air.the vehicle was safely stopped and there was no further damage to the vehicle or wheel.there was no obvious damage at an earlier time to the valve stem.upon replacement of tire and stem, the back piece of the stem was inside the tire.next week the 5 remaining valve stems on the ford f350 dually will be replaced, because it was a peculiar failure to say the least.i hope anyone else who has this experience is as lucky as we were. The consumer was driving, and at about 3/4 way up the hill going at 52-56 mph, for about 4-5 seconds, there was a wash board effect, where the road was grooved sidways for another 4-5 seconds.the vehicle headed for the side of the road, then the vehicle dropped to the right rear to the rim.the tire had come completely apart.consumer would like replacement for the tire bought for the spare-($123)*scc

This super swamper tire is the second one that has exploded while driving on the highway, both were front mounted tires.i am getting the tire replaced with another manufacturer's tires, but i felt that these tires and their manufacturer should be checked for problems.my f350 is a fairly heavy vehicle and i was pulling a trailer when this tire explosion occured.at the very least these tires should have a warning that they do not dissipate heat sufficiently at highway speeds.

No summary listed for above vehicle.

Tire pressure on other tires after blowout:left frt. 47 psi, right frt 46 psi, right rear 68 psi, spare 50 psi.recommended tire pressure from data plate is front 50 psi and rear 80 psi. (dot number: vnw81xm130tiresize: lt26575r16)

Three out of the five new tires delivered with vehicle had bubbles on the sidewall. (tiresize: 265 75 r16)( dot number:tire size: 265 75 r16 )

There's a separation on the side of the tire. General tire, 17235/85r16.four out of six tires had sidewall separations that were serious.ford finally declared four of the six as being defective and replaced them.cosnumer was having the vehicle checked when the claims adjuster pointed out that the two front tires had tread separation deep enough for a dime to fit 1/8th of an inch.the separations were two to four inches in length.the two outer back tires also have tread separation but not as deep as the front two.ford trys to characterize the defects as unusual tread wear.the defects were actually sidewall separations.consumer was only partially reimbursed for the defects.*jg

While driving 65 mph spare tire cable broke. This caused the tire to roll into oncoming traffic.

The second delamination occured on 9-21-02 to the left rear tire. I felt the vibration and was able to change the tire before any damage was sustained. You could see the area where the delamination was happening. The tires are kept at 80psi and are checked on a weekly basis. I still have possesion of both tires at this time. The firestone dealer wants to take them when he replaces the tires.nlm

My 2001 ford f-350 was destroyed in a fire.the unit spontaneously combusted at 1 am after being parked for over 12 hours. The unit was a total loss. The vehicle was parked at an employees home, which was also damaged.when i originally complained to ford about the speed control recall, they claimed that it did not include my vehicle.i recently discovered that this vehicle has been recalled for this problem.the insurance settlement was woefully inadequate, causing a 30k000 out of pocket expense to replace the truck. No compensation was offered from ford.
