The contact owns a 2008 ford f-350 sd. While the vehicle was parked, the steering wheel became stuck for two minutes and then failed to move. The air bag warning light illuminated. The contact attempted to drive the vehicle and the steering wheel failed to turn. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 115,000.

Driving 15 to 20 mph and steering pulled truck to the left sharply causing accident also air bag did not work.

This truck has had 3 smart juntion boxes replaced in the last 3 years it effects the front turn signals and flashers. It is a safety problem since we are a dpw and the truck sits with its flashers on for our workers.

I purchased a 2008 ford 350 super duty king ranch with a 6.4l diesel and started having throttle problems @ about 5,000 miles.i had repeated problems with throttle response.i was driving down the hwy @ 70mph and the truck just went into idle mode and would not respond to the throttle pedal.i was very lucky to be able to weave thru traffic and pull over to the side of the road.i shut the truck off and sat there for a few minutes then restarted the truck and drove off.on numerous occasions i would start the truck and it would drive a short ways and then kick into idle mode and the engine would not respond to the pedal.i had the truck towed into the ford dealer and they said they could not duplicate the problem.they replaced the throttle pedal sensor and gave it back to me.i filed a complaint with customer service on 6/18/2009 case # [xxx] as the problem continued to happen.i had the truck towed in again and the ford dealer replaced the map sensor.the problem continued to happen and i had the truck towed into the ford dealer again and left it with them.they called me back and said the truck was ready to pkup.i was under the impression that they had changed a part or corrected the problem.i informed them that i was going on a hunting trip to ut in late december and wanted to ensure my truck was in fact repaired.i drove to elko nv and spent the night.the next day (sunday) i started the truck and it kicked into idle mode and would not respond to the throttle.i had it towed to the ford dealer again.the next day they reflased the computer in the truck and said they hoped it would get me home.when i returned home i took the truck into the local ford dealer again.they said they could not duplicate the problem.they did change out the pcm and gave me back the truck but would not confirm they fixed the problem.i was in contact with ford cust service and requested a buy back.they refused.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

The contact owns a 2008 ford f-350 sd. The contact stated that exhaust fumes emitted inside of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who indicated that the exhaust filter was poorly designed. The vehicle has not been repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the defect. The approximate failure mileage was 120,000.updated 07/03/14 mathe consumer stated the fumes in the vehicle can cause one to feel ill. Updated07/11/2014

While driving my 2008 f350 superduty diesel powered truck at 45mph for approx 4 miles, received message "exhaust drive complete" immediately followed by "stop safely now" and complete powerdown of engine.the truck decelerated so fast that despite my flooring the throttle, the car behind me almost collided.the truck lost so much power that i could not safely pull off road and was in a rural area between two blind curves.the whole incident happened in less than 30 seconds and left truck completely vulnerable to whatever traffic conditions were at the time of incident.after getting over to side of road, truck stalled on slight rise and did not have the power to move, however when i shut truck down, my 5ft8in 200lb body was able to push the 8000 lb vehicle over the hump.engine would not crank over after incident and was not allowed to restart until after the unit either cooled down or timed out (didn't try for 30-45 min later).by time tow truck arrived, unit would run but less than full power and check engine light was on. Truck was in shop serviced for faulty egr valve and had latest ford recall for reprogramming completed less than 100 miles prior to incident.

Exhaust gas temp sensor issue:driving at highway speed, thank god i wasn't towing my 5th wheel.got the message on the dash "stop safely now" and 10 seconds later the truck shut itself off.this is a serious safety hazard.if i had been towing the trailer on a hill i dread to think what would have happened.towed the vehicle to one ford dealer, they couldn't diagnose even though i found the problem online ( many f350 owners have had the exact same experience) and they told me to pick it up the next day.i did that, and about a half hour down the road it happened again.towed to a different dealership, they replaced one of the 4 exhaust gas temp sensors and after an absurd $500 repair bill for an $89 part i was on my way.ford has obviously known this is a problem as they have changed their part number on these sensors - they did some sort of a redesign requiring a new part number.i now carry a spare sensor with me at all times as well as the correct size wrench to replace it.this should absolutely be a recall issue since it is both a serious safety issue as well as something that many of us have had.a simple online search finds many people with the same story.i did call ford customer service, absolutely no action on their part.the old adage of ford = found on roadside dead or fix or repair daily was definitely true for me.i do have the ford customer care case number somewhere if you need that...

Enginedid not kick out of regincauseingover heat

Was driving at approximately 40mp when the engine just stopped and lost power.this happened on 2 more occasions.once while pulling out onto a busy street, and was almost hit by oncoming traffic.cannot risk injury, so took it right to a reputable local diesel mechanic.diesel mechanic states that entire fuel system must be replaced.faulty hi pressure fuel pump disintegrated and sent metal thru fuel system.this will cost $8000 to fix.was told this was the first year "bug" for a new design.ford will not replace parts or warranty this.common on this model, but definitely a safety hazard, as the truck may or may not stall when giving gas.it is unpredictable.

Shortly after the truck is up to operating temperature a constant plume of white smoke continuously emits from the exhaust.fuel economy has had a substantial loss.during lower levels (1/4 or lower levels of diesel) of fuel capacity the engine will stall and die upon take off.attempting to restart afterwards was very difficult.during this process a "wrench" appears on the dash and that's about it.i have not checked "codes" yet and the check engine lite in on.

On september 30, 2014, my wife was on her way to columbus, ohio in her 2008 ford f350 super duty turbo diesel truck (vin# [xxx]) with 44,000 miles. She's pulling her 2014 26? lakota two horse trailer with living quarters with her show horse in the back. The unexpected happen while she was on md-51n near cumberland, maryland heading across a bridge with heavy traffic at 1230pm.the check engine light came on with the following message ?pull over safely?. Twenty seconds (20 seconds) later, the truck completely shut down.wife was traveling at 70 miles an hour when the truck shut down, which turned the power steering off.this is what i call unsafe for anyone, especially when pulling a 26? horse trailer with an extra 1000lbs in the back with a horse. She was not able to get completely off the road which almost caused a major accident due to the vehicle shutting down on her. After sitting on the side of the road waiting for aaa to come tow the vehicle for over 1hours, the vehicle started back up and she drove it toford cumberland, 10335 mt savage road nw, cumberland, md with the check engine light still on with a police escort since the sheriff of cumberland sat with my wife on md-51n waiting on aaa. This is after she was almost hit by a fedex eighteen wheeler due to not being able to get to a safe location for a truck and horse trailer due to the vehicle shutting down on her. The dealership found the problem: exhaust sensor. They were able to repair it and she was able to continue on with her trip. How can this sensor go out on a truck with only 44,000 miles on it? how can they design a truck to shut down automatically without any warning? the dealership told my wife they have seen these sensors go out at 20,000 miles before. Needs to be address and recall issued before someone dies on the highway due to this problem. Hold ford accountable.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

I have submitted my request for a recall to be issued on all 2008 ford f350sd for the exhaust temperature sensor failure causing the vehicle to shutdown. Looks as though a recall was issued for 2012 ford 6.7l ambulance packages:f-350enginerecall number: 13v535000recall date: 10/30/2013problem summary:ford motor company (ford) is recalling certain model year 2011-2012 f-350/450/550 ambulance package vehicles manufactured february 22, 2010, through october 19, 2012 and equipped with a 6.7l diesel engine. Due to an exhaust sensor problem, the vehicles may experience loss of power followed by an engine stall.consequence:an unexpected engine stall increases the risk of a crash. Additionally, if this were to occur when the ambulance is transporting a patient, there is an increased risk of injury to the patient.corrective action:ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the exhaust gas temperature sensor, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin by the end of november 2013. Owners may contact ford motor company customer relationship center at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's recall campaign number is 13s10.sure if a crash can result in the vehicle shutting down on a 6.7l, it could also occur on a 6.4l 2008 ford f350 super duty that is not an ambulance package. A crash is what almost happen when my wife's vehicle shutdown on her due to the sensor going out heading down hill with no power steering. Investigate this and have ford held accountable. I have emailed ford on several occassions and this is their latest response:our records indicate that you contacted the ford crc on 9/30/14, and our customer care representative advised you that we have documented your comments which will be forwarded to the appropriate department for review and consideration.wow "for review and consideration".

On multiple occasions, when vehicle is stopped, with brake depressed, the engine revs up and vehicle wants to accelerate forward at a high rate of speed.the only way to stop the acceleration is to get the vehicle transitioned in to park and cut the engine.the vehicle has been to three dealers, whom are unable to diagnose and correct the problem.ford has not been responsive.vehicle is unsafe to drive.

Exhaust temperature sensor will cause a crash that may end up killing someone. This is what failed on my wife who was pulling a 28' horse trailer with her show horse inside worth over $30,000 dollars. She merged to a one lane road on interstate 68 in maryland heading down hill when the check engine light came one soon to follow with a message of pull over safely. 20 seconds later, the engine shutoff.this caused her to lose power steering on a one lane road going over a bridge down hill pulling a horse trailer with a gross weight of over 10,000 pounds. She had no where to pull over safely when the truck shutdown on her. She had to get out of the truck in order to move the barrels blocking the right lane in order to try and get the truck and trailer out of the open lane. She had to block an exit in order to make room for the other vehicles. The truck went to the ford dealership in cumberland, md where it was diagnosed that it was the exhaust temperature sensor. This is a safety issue on this vehicle. At no time should a vehicle shutdown on someone driving it. Believe it a vehicle going into a limp mode but at least you can still drive it so you can get to a safe place. There needs to be an investigation into why this occurs and enforce ford to issue a recall to fix this problem before someone is injured or killed.

While in tow/haul mode towing 40' 5th wheel, engine overheated quickly which resulted in loss of power. No leaks seen and coolant was spraying out of overflow cap only. No lights came on in dash. Seems fan is not kicking on when needed? when fan does kick on, engine cools immediately. This is only at low speeds under heavy towing. Truck runs great otherwise with no overheating problems. This has happened twice with this truck and i'm sure it is causing damage. Warranty just ran out of course. There is a coolant loss as well, but unknown where it is going. No milky oil, nothing on the ground, and no wet exhaust pipe.

I noticed a plum of white smoke out the tail pipe.that indicated steam, water in the system to me.all the gauges were normal and i stopped the vehicle and checked the fluid levels.no obvious problem.i called my local ford dealership and they could not get it in for 36 hours.i drove it .4 miles home and parked it.at the appointed time i drove to north country ford.it took them another day to find the diesel mechanic who could work on the vehicle.24 hours later i am told the engine is blown; fluid got into the manifold and was sucked into the # 3 cylinder.depending on the amount of parts that could be salvaged the cost of replacement could exceed $ 12,000.this vehicle has 95,000 miles on it.it has had tow other incidents with the engine and drive train:in december of last year, in preparation for a trip to arizona i had the transmission serviced.about 1400 miles later the transmission began to slip when we encountered any hills or mountains.i parked the trailer and took the tuck to cassa ford.they had the truck for 4 days and $ 1600.00 worth of repairs.i asked if anything done at the time it was service or the driving from the first sign of trouble had caused or exacerbated the problem.they said no, it was a pump problem.in 2011, it began to blow black smoke out the tailpipe; the dash screen indicated it was cleaning the exhaust.within 5 minutes the engine sputtered and died.i called ford i was told to wait an hour and try to restart the vehicle; give the engine an opportunity to 're-set' itself.that didn't work!a tow was sent and the vehicle towed to nelson ford dealer in fergus falls, minnesota.it was a failed egr valve.the repair was covered under warranty.

Sudden vehicle acceleration during slowing/braking. Registered over 4000 rpm at approximately 10 mph with brakes fully depressed and was extremely difficult to stop which almost led to a rear end collision. After coming to a complete stop, vehicle was put into park and engine slowly decreased from racing and went to normal rpm operating range at idle within seconds.

For twenty five thousand miles the vehicle has had an intermittent engine miss. They have worked on this numerous times to no avail. The vehicle finally quit on i-70 just before the holidays. They have had numerous problems with these trucks that need to be addressed by someone that cares about the safety of us ,the consumers. Thank you for your time.

She was not able to get completely off the road because is shutdown on the bridge blocking the right lane which almost caused a major accident due to the vehicle shutting down on her. While waiting on the bridge, her trainer had to turn around his eighteen wheeler so my wife could unload her horse and load it in his trailer. This completely shutdown the traffic on md-51n which is not safe unloading and loading a horse.after sitting on the side of the road waiting for aaa to come tow the vehicle for over 1hours, the vehicle started back up and she drove it toford cumberland, 10335 mt savage road nw, cumberland, md with the check engine light still on with a police escort since the sheriff of cumberland sat with my wife on md-51n waiting on aaa. The contact owns a 2008 ford f-350 sd. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, he would hear a loud noise coming from the hood. The vehicle was inspected by a dealer who advised the contact that he needed to replace the rocker arms in the engine.the dealer also advised him that if not replaced, they wouldpuncture the motor causing that to fail as well. The vehicle was repaired. The failure and current mileages were 111.

I brought this 2008 ford f-350sd to the dealer today because of anti-freeze leaking from bottom of radiator on the drivers side.the truck has about 16000 miles on it.dealer says the radiator must be replaced and no warranty so i am responsible for repairs.i called ford and asked for help and was turned down.the ford dealer contacted ford and asked for help and was turned down.i have read of numerous radiator failures on this years f350 so evidently there is a problem with the design of their cooling system and ford should reimburse for these failures.no radiator should fail in 16000 miles.

Loses power while driving can not get any speed almost got hit on interstate since it dropped speed from 70 to 40 fuel pump replaced still at dealers has been there for 3 weeks had it in the shop a few months ago for cooling system this is supposed to be a heavy duty truck there is a number of problems with these trucks . With 73 bulletins on them i think it is a safety issue !!!!!!!!!

I bought a 2008 super duty with the 6.4 l diesel engine in it. I noticed that the radiator was leaking on the bottom driver side. I decided to do some research on the internet to see if it were a common problem , to my surprise it was. Everyone that has a super duty truck with the 6.4 l complaint about the same problem , radiator leaking on the bottom driver side. Some of the owners recorded that it was their 3 rd radiator in their truck. I did some research on carfax and noticed that atleast 7 trucks out of 20 that were for sale in the memphis area had their radiators replaced and some trucks more than 3 times. I went to the dealer and they look at my radiator and told me that they would replace it under warranty. They also looked and made sure that my truck had the venturi kit installed on it,that ford had a recall on the cooling system back in 08 , it was installed. After they removed my radiator the service man told me that if my thermostats were not at fault that i had to pay for the radiator. My thermostats he said were fine so i was responsible to pay for a new radiator. I strongly believe ford should be hold accountable for these cooling systems that is failing . To me they are only patching a problem and hope it will last till the warranty is over and then it is the owners problem . To many owners out there has the same problem for me to except responsibility for what is clearly a bad defect on the cooling system. My truck has only 64 000 miles on it, and i don't even tow anything.

2months into my "new" vehicle the radiator cracked and over heated ; the back glass leaks with water every time it rains , motor reves up out of control , now motor has blown oil into radiator and all over driveway deeming vehicle undriveable.

The contact owns a 2008 ford f-350 sd.the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for regular maintenance.the technician observed an excessive oil leak and stated that the failure was related to the front main seal.the vehicle was repaired.on nine separate occasions, the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for identical failures; however, there were no resolutions.the vehicle is currently being repaired.the contact has notified the manufacturer.the failure mileage was 20,000 and current mileage was 53,000.

While driving in snowy conditions, the air filter will get clogged with snow causing the engine to stall.on 12/30/2010 at 2pm i drove approximately 20 miles (zip code 57201) and the air filter had 1/2" of snow all around and inside the filter.discussed with local ford dealer and they say there is a no fix for this problem could cause vehicle to stall in adverse weather conditions and cause an accident and or strand passengers in adverse weather conditions.

The contact owns a 2008 ford f350 super duty truck purchased new. He stated after having a regular oil change, he noticed a large oil spillage coming from under the vehicle. The dealer advised replacing the high pressure fuel pump. The repair caused the oil to leak worse. Within just under a year of the initial failure, the dealer replaced the high pressure fuel pump a second time. Several months later, the contact began to notice the oil leak again. The high pressure fuel pump was replaced a third time. He also stated the bulbs in the exterior lighting elements, including headlights, tail lights and turn signals continued to blow. The dealer could not identify the reason why they continued to fail. While at a stop, while attempting to accelerate, the vehicle would not shift into gears properly. The vehicle would stay in high gear and would not down shift properly. The dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. No further repairs were made to date. There were no recalls on his vehicle.the failure and current mileages were under 28,000.

The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for diagnosis. The technician stated that the turbocharger compressor shaft completely fractured and both thermostats had broken. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 94,442.

I leased a 2008 f3506.4 literit was smoking out of the tailpipe often so i called the dealer and they said it was normal over the next few months it got worse then i had the oil changed at the dealer and the smoke checked they said in the paper work it was undetermined 1 month later i lost all power and the truck diedthe oil cap was not put on and there was oil everywhere since then the smoke has gotten worse so i started to go to a small mechanic that works on my other trucks well since this incident the smoke is more often like two times a week for 10 min son i brought it to the dealer two weeks ago they had it for 3 days and then they called me and said i had to prove that i had the oil changes done to it i own four trucks and they all get oilchanges so i brought the recites and they said because i paid cash for the oil changes the receipt form the mechanic where fakeand it was a maintenance issue so i drove it down the street to another place since then its un drivable it smokes the hole time its runningwhat do i do?

Regardless of speed, excessive white smoke blowing out of exhaust completely obstructing own rear sightas well as blinding following vehicles.ithas happened 4 times, vehicle currently at 36, 000km. Personal belief is that this has led to engine needing to be replaced which ford will not warranty.nothing has been done as ford reports they cannot find the problem.

I have 2008 ford f350 xlt 4x4 srw diesel just over a year and what have happened now is that on 08/02/1010 while i was driving there were noises from the engine also sooo much of white smoke coming out from exhaust pipe and then the truck just failed on the highway and was towed to the closest ford dealer location after a week sitting there service people from dealership said that was oil and fuel spillage all over the filter and the engine etc.. But they didn't do anything to find out what was causing it and i ended up with the bill for it an hour later when i took it the truck it have happened again this time i have taken the truck to another ford dealership after few days they said that was something minor and they gave me the truck when i just left their shop in the evening same problem so much smoke that you couldn't see anything the smoke was choking me so now again the truck is in the dealership service but they now pointing fuel injectors and again they want me to pay for oil and fuel spillage so that they again going to change oil and filter but they not working on fixing the real problem! at this moment i'm afraid to drive this truck because of the fuel spillage i know it can result in a fire and is not safe to drive this truck with so much smoke coming out from exhaust filter

The contact owns a 2008 ford f-350 sd. While driving approximately 10 mph, the contact heard an abnormal noise from the front of the vehicle. In addition, the vehicle went into limp mode. A local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to call nhtsa. The approximate failure mileage was 212,425. The vin was not available.

Truck caught on fire while driveing down raod

When truck goes into regeneration mode(on drive or reverse) it is sometimes very hard to keep it under control...it wants to accelerate--- normally it goes up to 1200 to 1300 rpm but on 2 or 3 times its gone up to 1500, 1 time it went up to 2300 rpm ( that's not save )--------2 times engine lost power while driving at 65-70 mph...truck makes a loud metal to metal noise when you go from drive to reverse and when you start moving...

The contact owns a 2008 ford f-350 sd. The contact stated that while driving 30 mph, the power steering assist failed as the steering wheel seized. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing, who stated that the gearbox had failed. The vehicle had been repaired once in the past for the same failure. The failure was reported to the manufacturer. The failure mileage was 52,000. The current mileage was 70,576.

I have a 2008 350 super duty ford truck. I have about 35,000 miles on the truck and in those miles i have had about a dozen incidents where the trucks automatic transmission did not start from a dead stop in 1st. Gear. In stead it must have started in 3rd. Or 4th gear resulting in what would be a very underpowered start. I would press the accelerator to the floor which would result in the transmission down shifting and the wheels spinning even when pulling a 5th wheel trailer. Twice, while empty, i nearly had an accident when i needed a rapid response to enter traffic. The last time this happened was 8/25/2010. When i have taken this complaint to a forddealership, they say they can not find any codes, however the last time the dealer did a computer update on the truck and that was about 10 months ago and i thought the problem was solved. I met another person with the same power train as mine who had the same problem, finally his transmission went out and had to be replaced. I would like to have you investigate this issue, it may save a life.

I was notified by ford that my 2008 f-350 6.4 diesel pickup had two recall notices to be performed. On 1.29.08 i took the truck to capistrano ford and they performed recall 08b06 and recall 08b07. Since then the automatic transmission has not performed the same.i pull a fifth wheel trailer. The dry weight of the trailer is about 9000lbs. When going downhill the automatic transmission no longer downshifts to assist in braking and downhill speed control. The transmission is equipped with a tow/ haul setting on the end of the shift lever. Before the recall this feature worked great. As you start down a hill, taking your foot off the gas the truck will coast and then begin to pick up speed. When the transmission sensed the increase in speed while coasting, the transmission would automatically downshift. It would do this at any speed. After the recall, the transmission will not downshift until long after it has any affect on braking or speed control. While braking, sometimes hard if it is a steep hill, the transmission will downshift and the truck will shutter. It is a short burst that is very noticeable and obviously not normal.the shutter never happened before the recall.i have taken in back to ford twice and they say that the transmission control module (tcm) was reprogrammed as part of recall 08b07 but they can not change it back to the original program. In short, ford will not do anything about this.the operational safety of the vehicle, while towing loads that the truck is designed to tow,has been compromised. Ford says they can not do anything about it. Is anyone else having this problem? according to ford this complaint has not been made. If i'm the only one having the problem, then ford should fix my truck.

2months into my "new" vehicle the radiator cracked and over heated ; the back glass leaks with water every time it rains , motor reves up out of control , now motor has blown oil into radiator and all over driveway deeming vehicle undriveable.

On february 21, 2009, i purchased a 2008 ford f-350 from el cajon ford.since that time, i have experienced at least six incidents of accidentally pressing the accelerator pedal while my foot is operating the brake pedal. The latest incident was on 9/21/2009, and occurred while backing the truck into a parking space.i came extremely close to hitting a concrete block wall.these incidents are quite frightening, and i am concerned that it is only a matter of time before someone is seriously injured.this latest incident has left me so startled, that i am afraid to continue to drive the vehicle.i have owned two other ford f-350 trucks, a 1990 (9 years), and a 1999 (10 years).in the 19 years and 350,000 miles i drove those two trucks, i never, ever, had this occur with either vehicle.there is obviously something different about the 2008.i believe that the separation of the brake and gas pedals is insufficient.i have researched this issue on two ford truck internet forums, and have discovered that i am not the only person experiencing this issue.

2008 ford f-350 sd diesel 31000 milesbrake caliper failure the vehicle had lag because the brakes were stuck on once vehicle was stopped the smell of the brake was very noticeable also very hot could not touch the wheel hub once the caliper was removed it was a piece that had broken inside causing the brakes to stick while i was buying the caliper there was another truck same problem only 18,000 miles also comments from parts that this happens all the time .

Ihave a 2008 ford f350 super duty 4x4 crew cab diesel dully.several months ago while driving the truck the rear driver side brake locked.after investigating the problem the rear brake caliper had broken.was able to carefully drive to ford dealership in terrell tx.they accused me of running over something.after repairing the brake caliper they apologized for the accusation.the had to replace brake caliper tire and rim.this same thing occurred last wednesday. Except this was the opposite side on the rear.this time the vehicle was traveling through an intersection and almost caused a horrible accident.one the brake locks up it pulls the vehicle to that side causing me to lose control of the vehicle. This vehicle has been in and out of the shop for numerous problems.had the diesel engine replaced in octjust 4 months after purchasing it.

The contact owns a 2008 ford f-350 hd. The contact stated that while having an oil changethe mechanic noticed the rear brakes on the passenger side were metal on metal. The dealer stated that there have been problems with the calibers going bad and causing the brake pads and routers to fail as well. The dealer replaced the calibers under warranty, but would not replace other parts of the brake system. The contact feels there is a defect with the calibers used on the vehicle. The vin was not accepted at the time of the complaint. The failure mileage and current mileages was 37000.

Hi, my name is [xxx],my truck is 2008 ford f350 super duty diesel 6.4l lariat dually.when i bought my truck it had 57,000 mile and i use it to two big trailers to transport furniture's out of the state texas. Last week while i was pulling my loaded trailer on the highwayin irving texas going to new orleans la driving 60 mph on the highway, something told me to stop and get some water from the my cooler at the back seat because i will not stop for at least 200 mile. As i slowed down and pulled off the highway, when i reach 15 miles per hour the truck would not stop so i push hard on the brake and my foot went all the way down to the floor and my heart went down with it, i had to use the emergency brake, low gear 1, and go on the grass to stop my truck. A mobile mechanic came and said i never seen this before, your break booster ears are one broke off and the other one is very loose.( where the master cylinder connect to the brake booster.he tightened on bolt and told me to follow him to ford dealer 3 miles down the road, using the brake very lightly, driving slow and rely mostly on the trailer brakes. We went to west way ford at first did not want to diagnose my truck, and told me i have to wait 3 days because they are behind and they could not help me now.i told him that i am lucky to be a life and talking to you now, he replied other customers have to wait and you do too! so i called ford motor company and i spoke with kelly, she took down the report and told me after the technician finish diagnosing you truck we will see what we can do. They ask west way ford (vince grazioso to look and diagnose the problem and told me i need to pay to replace my brake booster,. They said your truck is out of warranty and it cost you $1289.00 to replace the brake booster and to change the air filter, and the diesel filter like if that's.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

On the evening of 6/13/2014, i was driving my 2008 ford f-350 through the drive through line of white castle in commack, new york, 11725. As i went to make a right turn to follow the drive through lane, a heard a metal breaking sound followed by complete loss of steering. Within less than 1 second from this happening, my vehicle collided with a cinder block wall causing significant front end damage to the bumper, fender and headlight. There were no injuries to myself or any passengers as well as the wall had minimal damage. I had a police report filed with the suffolk county police department. The report corroborates my statement of complete steering loss as the direct result of the accident. The vehicle was towed to my mechanic, north shore firestone in commack. Upon investigation they determined the gears inside of the steering box completely failed. They could be of further assistance detailing what the internals of the steering box looked like if needed. They also informed me there is a 2 month back log on the replacement for this part. Being that there is a replacement backlog, ford must know there is a design flaw. This part needs to be redesigned to stand up to the difficult task of getting white castle! this failure not only caused damage to my truck costing over $5,000, but this will cause my insurance to go up as well. If this causes me to be dropped from my insurance, i will have major problems being that all of my jobs require me to have transportation. Please have ford fix this problem so no one else is involved in an accident. I was lucky i was going at a low speed, but the next person may not be as lucky as i was.

Steering gearbox failed. Steering felt very loose, pulled into parking lot. Steering would turn right but would not turn to the left.could hear a crunching or popping noise when attempting top turn left. Had vehicle towed to local repair shop that found the steering gearbox failed internally.

2008 ford f-350super duty truck. Consumer states vehicle is inherently unsafe because of a design flaw *tgwthe consumer believed the front suspension and steering mechanisms were too light for the weight of the truck and for the type of load it was supposed to handle. The consumer stated the front end was rated to carry 5200lbs. However, when the truck was empty, there was already 4800lbs on the front end. The consumer stated the truck is supposed to be a super duty truck, but apparently it can't carry anything except a passenger or two before the front end is overloaded.the steering box broke suddenly for the time at 26,050 miles. Which caused the consumer to crash into a parked vehicle at about 20 mph.the dealer replaced the steering box, but the new one failed at 29, 581 miles.the current steering box is feeling loose and the truck wanders. The ball joints and tie rod ends were replaced at 38,587 miles. The consumer also stated when the vehicle was driven over a bump, if felt as though the power steering malfunctioned for a few seconds.

While driving on the highway at 55 mph, my truck hit a bump in the pavement and i experienced a violent shake in the steering wheel and front wheels.as a result, i swerved into the other lane and almost hit another vehicle.while i was able to regain control after about 5 seconds, if the traffic would have been heavier (this occurred near the pentagon, just off of 395 n) i could have caused a serious accident.

The contact owns a 2008 ford f-350 sd.the contact stated that the front end of the vehicle would shimmy and shake while driving approximately 50 mph.on one occasion, the steering wheel shook so severely that he lost control of the vehicle and veered off the road.there were no injuries.the contact took the vehicle to the dealer for repairs, but the failure persisted.he filed a complaint with the manufacturer, but has yet to receive any feedback.the current mileage was approximately 42,600 and failure mileage was approximately 15,000.

Start of multiple occurrences of death wobble with this truck and numerous trips to the ford dealerships with no fix. Tires replaced approximately 28,000 miles at my expense: ( was told this would most likely fix the wobble). I was advised the front end alignment out (caster setting) and could not be fixed by ford because the caster adjusters necessary to repair - not available at the time.but ford advised me thealignment without the caster adjusters was still within ford specs and would be fine. Last visit to the dealership for the death wobble around 09-19-2012, vehicle @ 34,090. Advised the mechanic attempted to align vehicle with caster adjuster sleeves; was unable to fix, wrong sleeves. Would have been charged for the repair approx. 400.00. I was told that if i had the front aligned correctly it would take care of death wobble. 95% sure it would fix. I finally went to local mechanic shops. Fixed wobble with 2 steering stabilizers @ 324.74 charge. Alignment with caster sleeves @ 414.22 charge. I am planning to ask ford for reimbursement but i doubt they will comply.

The contact owns a 2008 ford f-350 sd. The contact stated that the vehicle experienced a random death wobble associated with the steering and suspension. A dealer performed extensive repairs, but the condition continued. The dealer and the manufacturer failed to provide a remedy. The vehicle was unable to be safely driven due to a strong vibration from the steering, which also caused the suspension to be unstable. The vehicle was parked at the contact's residence. The failure mileage was not available.

There was an internal failure of the steering gear box. Theshaft pin shredded off allowing the steering wheel to spin freely with no movement to the wheels.

2008 f350 super duty ----violent steering wheel wobblethis has happened to met 10 times. When i'm on the highway going any speed between 50 to70 mph and i hit a small bump or imperfection in the road and the truck goes into a violent wobble and is uncontrollablethe whole truck shakes. I have to slam on the breaks and drop the speed fast to around 35mph to gain control of the truck .it is a very scary thing to deal with . I got rid of my 2005 f350 because of the same problem.

I have a 2008 ford f-350 dually that when hitting a dip/bump in the road at speeds above about 35, the entire front end shakes/shimmys so bad that you can't even control it!i received a letter in the mail from ford in april 2009 basically saying when it happens slow down.the dealer refuses to do anything.someone is going to get killed if this is not fixed.

The 2008, as well as other years of the ford f-350 are known to have a problem with a front-end shimmy or "death wobble".i have had several thousand dollars of work done to my f-350 in order to resolve the death wobble problem. The repairs work for a time and then, without warning, the death wobble returns. The fact that this can occur without warning, at high speeds, by driving over a very small bump in the road, makes this an extraordinarily dangerous problem.i don't think i can adequately describe the extreme nature of the death wobble. The front-end of the truck is bouncing left and right, the entire vehicle is twisting and rolling, the steering wheel is barely controllable, anything loose in the passenger compartment goes flying and keeping the vehicle in its lane is not always possible. Reducing speed as quickly as possible is the only recourse and this poses a danger particularly when on a heavily trafficked highway.this problem has been known about for a long time and ford will not take any responsibility. Even after spending thousands of dollars on complete front-end rebuilds, and impeccable maintenance, the problem will suddenly reoccur. The design of this front-end is faulty and vehicle owners should not continue to be responsible for the costs of maintaining this faulty design and being exposed to great risk.

Repeated "death wobble". Many times, at highway speeds when i hit a bump or imperfection in the road, the truck will violently shake and loose steering control. Seems to happen more often during curves in the road. I have shot sideways across several lanes of traffic on more than one occasion very narrowly avoiding a high speed collision. Happens both while pulling a load or not. Dealership is unwilling to help. Very serious, life threatening problem going on and i cannot believe ford is unwilling to fix the problem. I guess they will wait until someone dies from this before they will act. I don't think it will be long before someone is killed from this lose of steering control!

Our business owns 4 ford f-350 super duty trucks (2-2006 and 2-2008). All of them have a very serious defect that causes what our employees refer to as the "death wobble". At about 55 miles per hour, the front end of the truck experiences a violent shimmy that has almost caused a number of accident. We tow large trailers (20'), loaded with large spools of coaxial cable. These reels and the trailer have a combined wait in excess of 3000-4000 lbs., and the trucks weigh approximately 6,000 lbs. When you lose control of this much weight at highway speeds, it is only a matter of time before someone is killed. All four trucks have experienced this problem. Ford claims that if you slow down, it will go away, but often that creates another safety hazard in and of itself, and often you cannot slow down fast enough with a 4,000lb in tow. Ford needs to issue a recall immediately to correct this problem, instead of forcing consumers to bear the cost of their inept manufacturing and design.

While turning sharp left at a traffic signal, the truck did not want to correct back straight. I forced it back to straight and continued on. While continuing to drive, the truck would track left and then track right. I turned the steering wheel quickly and it straightened back up. The truck is at a private repair shop with the technician unable to find anything broken. He suggested that it may be the power steering box.

Letter from senator brown on behalf of constituent re his ford truck gas pedal accelerating, causing him to crash (dot/i#2010-1130) *tgwthe consumer stated while driving on a rural road, the steering locked up and the gas pedal became stuck which caused the vehicle to accelerate out of control and crash into an embankment. The consumer was knocked unconscious and when he came to the accelerator pedal was pressed to the floor. He was able to release the accelerator pedal so he proceeded tomove the vehicle to the side of the road. As he did that, the steering locked up a second time, so he turned off the engine and waited for the police to arrive.the consumer suffered a mild concussion. The consumer stated ford nor his insurance company were willing to pay for the repairs for the defective steering box.

There was an internal failure of the steering gear box. Theshaft pin shredded off allowing the steering wheel to spin freely with no movement to the wheels.

I was driving a f-f350 sd crew cab pickup truck with a truck shell top approximately 65 mph when the left rear tire tread began to separate from the tire cord, resulting in the tread thrashing (approximately 6 revolutions) the interior and exterior of the left rear quarter panel causing extreme body damage to the wheel well, bumper, upper truck shell sliding window. This was a very violent explosion when the tread finally separated and flew off the tire cord. I then stopped the vehicle, assessed the problem, retrieved the tire tread which remained intact, also in one piece...! amazingly, the tire cord remained intact, still pressurized and holding air... And i was able to limp home at approximately 30 mph. Went to the ford dealership, who were not initially helpful pointing the finger to b.f. Goodrich, who i did called and i received a return phone call the next day.i then went to the dealership again, who removed the tire, and preserved the tread and tire, and i was instructed by the b.f. Goodrich representative to ship the tire for inspection to their offices. The initial inspection at the ford dealership was found to be inconclusive... As to whether or not the separation was caused by a road hazard, which it was not, and then i was told i would have to ship the tire to them for further investigation, and whether or not they would provide reimbursement for the $3-$4k in body damage to my truck. Preparing the tire for shipping to b.f.goodrich and waiting on the status of the remainder of my body damage claim.

The contact owns a 2008 ford f-350 sd. The contact stated that while driving approximately 40 mph, the vehicle suddenly lost power steering assist and the wheel failed to turn. 2008 f-350 has what they call the "death wobble" and has a constant shake at highway speeds. Ford blamed it on the tires. I replaced tires with one of the best you can buy. Continued to do the same thing. Ford blamed it on those tires. Been in for service 5 times in 1 year. Dealership told me not to come back because they can't fix it. Ford tells me to go back to the dealership. Someday i'm going to kill someone or myself in this truck since i have no control when the "death wobble" starts until i can slow down to about 20 mph on an interstate highway.updated ivoq 05/26/10

The contact owns a 2008 ford f-350 super duty. The contact stated that when driving 55-70 mph over a road bump, the vehicle would shake uncontrollably. The contact had to apply pressure to the brake pedal in order to control the vehicle. The failure was experienced numerous times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who test drove the vehicle, but was unable to duplicate the failure. The contact took the vehicle to a tire specialist who performed analignment and replaced the tires and shocks however, the failure was not corrected. The vehicle continued to shake uncontrollably when driving over a road bump. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 29,800 and the current mileage was 30,000.

Experienced violent shudder / wobble after hitting bump at 65 mph while towing 7,000 lbs. Camper.experienced same wobble at 40 mph after hitting pot hole 7 days later. After reviewing online footage, i appear to have experienced the event commonly referred to as 'death wobble'.problem goes away after coming to a complete stop.

Nitto dura grappler 245/75r/17 front left tire blew causing vehicle to crash into guard railing on interstate.the vehicle was driving on i-75 sbnear mm 181 approximately 72 mph.i was not made aware of the recall.on march 6,2015 i had another tire blow and i filed a nitto claim number 804190 (through the tire dealership). I received from nitto the same tire in exchange.even thought this type of tire was recalled on safercar.gov on november 4, 2015.why was it replaced by nitto with another defective tire???now my vehicle is totaled!

The original equipment 20" alloy rim mounted on the front passenger side of my 2008 ford f350 super duty developed a stress fracture that when in motion and supporting the full weight of the vehicle, opens and closes with each rotation of the wheel, causing air pressure to vent and the tire to go flat after several miles of driving. The fracture does not vent when the wheel is removed from the vehicle or when the vehicle is stationary with no stress on the fractured area. The fracture is not caused by accident or abuse. It seems to be a manufacturing defect that took several years to develop into a detectable fault. Stress fractures of this type are extremely dangerous because they are potentially capable of 100% failure at vehicular speed, resulting in rim failure and subsequent loss of vehicle control.

2008 ford f 350 fx4 equipped with ford's premium wheels, the plastic full size wheel covers are falling off of the wheels that they are attached to. The tape that holds the plastic wheel coverto the steel wheel is failing. I am concerned that these wheel covers will fly off and hit someone causing an accident or injuries. There is no damage to any of these wheel covers. 1 cover has already fallen off and the other 3 are becoming loose like the first. I called ford's customer service phone number and had the truck into the dealer. Both ford & the dealer stated that the truck was out of it's warranty period (i purchased ford's best extended warranty when the truck was purchased; same answer) and not covered by warranty. They did even look at the wheels.
