2006 ford f350 crew cab diesel 4x4, involved in a head on collision with a motorcycle at approximately 55 mph.extensive frontal damage to truck, center to passenger side. Air bags did not deploy, police annotated this in police report. Contacted ford motor company and was told that their general counsel would be handling this in 10 business days. Have not had any response.

I have a ford f-350 that has had a violent front end shake at freeway speeds.the"shake" has been so violent i thought i was going to crash.i have taken it to ford and they change out a couple parts and then it happens again within 20,000 miles.this has happened 4 times since owning the truck (purchased new in nov. 2006).i have also had problems repeatedly with the high pressure oil pump and or electrical that ford cant resolve.the truck is now in the shop again.it cranks but will not startthe truck was going down the freeway at 70mph and it just dies and wont restart.they say it is high pressure oil pump and have replaced it 3 times within 50,000 miles.

The contact owns a 2006 ford f-350 sd. The contact was driving 25 mph when the engine stalled. The vehicle was taken to a private mechanic where the mechanic advised that the wiring harness needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was contacted, but the vehicle was not repaired. There is a problem with the instrument cluster and the plugs. The dash goes dead, interior lights dont work. Power windows dont work radio shuts off. Vehicle runs improperly. The vehicle can be sitting or moving. I have done research and found ford trucks from as early as 2002-2008 have this issue. Its unsafeand a know issuewith these year ford truck f150-f450. A new dash is very expensive and used ones run the risk of the same issue happening again. The fix is simple, the cost is not. Theres videos on you tube dozens of forums. Excursion expeditions are also having the same issue. Im n the mid west its cold. I drove to pick up a coiple atvs an hour north. Halfway back issues happened while window was down. Drove home preg fiance 5yr old in the back -3 outside-15 windchill n we're drive 65mph to get home. That was misserable.

On 2006 ford f350 vehicle with 6.0 diesel , the egr coolers have defect that cause them to leak. After reading into this it is a common issue. I took the truck to ford and they stated it is a very common problem and that i should look into an aftermarket cooler since the oem unit fails quite often to the frequency of 2 to 3 within 100,000 miles. This repair is approx. 1000 to 2000 depending on if the head gaskets have been subsequently damaged as well. In my case i had to replace the oil cooler along with egr cooler an egr valve and head gasket. My total bill was $2095.63 ford stated it is a very common problem and has tsb,s on this but has no plans for a voluntary recall. They did state that they will only compensate if instructed to due to a recall. These issues if researched online are more common then people needing any other parts on this vehicle. When these coolers fail the egr get wet and does not function. This can happen at highway speeds with can make you loose power thus loosing hydroboost for braking and steering.

The contact owns a 2006 ford f-350 sd. The contact stated that several failures occurred with the vehicle regarding the engine and electrical computer. The vehicle was taken to shamaley ford (11301 gateway blvd w, el paso, tx 79936) where the turbo, glow plugs, head gaskets, and the computer were replaced. Despite the repairs, the vehicle failed to start-up after multiple attempts. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 109,000. The vin was not available.

I was gone for a few days on vacation. When i returned home i went out to start my 2006 ford f-350 6.0 diesel super duty truck. I turned the key on and the head lights worked and the back ground lights for the gauge came on but no gauges no oil pressure no fuel no speed indicator no windows and no radio. I took it back to the dealer it had 4900 miles on it. The dealer checked it out and said that the gauge cluster was fried. The truck had not been started or moved for 11 days. There is no apparent reason for the failure.

The contacts owns a 2006 ford f-350 sd.the contact stated that the instrument panel lights failed to illuminate.the dealer stated that the computer caused the failure and they reset the computer.approximately two days later, the vehicle lost pulling power, which caused a loss of gasoline mileage.the dealer stated that the pcm and turbo were defective and they made the replacement.however, the failure continued to occur.the dealer was unable to diagnose the cause of failure.as of july 27, 2007, the vehicle has not been repaired.the contact stated that the clutch fan would not shut off.the dealer stated that the clutch fan was defective and they made the replacement.the current mileage was 60,000 and failure mileage was 200.

Brought a 2006 ford f350 super duty in february.one morning in october i started the truck let it warm up and went to drive it.as i was getting on to a on ramp i looked down at my gauge cluster and noticed the speedometer was reading below 0 mph, when i was doing approximately. 45 - 55 mph. Then i got off the highway came to a stop at the light.started to take off again and the gauge was still reading 0 mph.so i pulled over to a safe location and called the dealer up, they told me to shut the truck off and start it again.once i did that the problem was fixed and has not done that since.all the other gauges were reading fine, truck had normal power and ran like it should.

The trucks speedometer started intermittently working about 3 days after i purchased the truck it does not matter what speed i'm at the only thing so fare that i have noted is if the heater is in it happens more often.

Experienced severe vibrations and shimming after hitting a bump in the road.had to bring the truck to a complete stop before i could go on.i though i must of had a flat tire, but no.took the truck to the dealer, they said they tightened some things and adjusted the tire pressure.a couple of months later it happened again.i went straight to the local garage to have the tires checked, but the tire pressure was fine.it continues to happen about twice a year with no reason, just depends how i hit a bump on the road.it usually happens when crossing a bridge on the interstate.this last time in october 2011, i was crossing a bridge on interstate pa 80 in the passing lane, when it happened.i was all over the road before i could stop.i was fortunate that there were no other vehicles around, or it would have been a disaster.i was ready to take the truck back to the dealer, and tell them, its to dangerous to drive on the interstate.i got this letter from ford discussing this issue.they are correct stating "a severe" vibration, but totally wrong saying this condition results from significant tire under-inflation.i've never driven my truck with significant tire under-inflation.this shimming cannot be taken lightly, but that was the impression i got from the dealer.i wonder how long ford really new about this issue.i should be on record back at my dealer soon after i got the truck with this exact issue.

This year along with other years have a problem with the egr valve and turbo.i understand that there was a deal where ford had to repair emergency vehicles with this same problem but not a normal everyday consumer.there are many complaints regarding this engine blowing head gaskets and egr valve issues which makes the truck suddenly have lose of power when driving along with other issues as smoking and engine lights going on.as you can read on line everyone that has had this problem is really frustrated and ford will not stand behind this engine.the diesel truck should not have this problem at 79000 miles.this is why we have purchased this vehicle.i would think a decision had beenmade to put this engine in trucks knowing that there was an issue would stand behind it.i guess not enough people have been killed yet or seriously hurt.just because ford will not be reimbursed for the repairs they will not stand behind this problem after the warranty runs out.which it has with us.i feel that something should be done.we have pulled a 15,000 lbs boat behind this truck and it could suddenly lost power and could have killed someone.has my husband was driving it on a busy highway it suddenly lost power and starting smoking.someone could have been seriously hurt but i guess because no one was and no one has been killed because of this problem no one will pay to repair.it is sad that our tax dollars help dig this car makers out of debt but they won't stand behind their workmanship.why doesn't the safety board make ford repair this issue.many people are really frustrated and would like ford to repair.it is not the consumers fault there was a bad engine.2006 is not the only year. This is a large safety issue when you are driving and suddenly lose power on your vehicle at least i would think so.

Purchased this vehicle less than a year ago and was originally very pleased.suddenly we are now experiencing the death wobble as other have described.the violent shaking of the front end.this usually occurs when you are approaching the speed of 60mph.we do not have to hit a bump for it to happen.the other complaint, is that we bought this truck with very low mileage for the year, ran great, looked great, very pleased until this last month when the check engine light came on and it seems to sputter.put some high quality fuel injector cleaner in the truck, thinking it may be a injector sticking.nope, didn't fix the problem.light never went off.took it to a dealership, they tested it and came back with your fuel tank is deteriorating putting little metal shards in your engine.you are looking at a potential full engine rebuild costing a minimum of $6000.this is unacceptable for any vehicle manufacturer to not recall a vehicle that has a serious known problem.we are stuck with this truck that is not worth the [xxx] paper the title is written on.it is tiring of reading all these similar complaints and no one is defending the consumers.at what point, does the manufacturer need to be held responsible to own up to the faulty equipment and fix the problems?when my child is killed because of the inability to control the vehicle due to the steering problems in the front end or that it stops running in the middle of the highway or downtown traffic because the fuel tank deteriorated for no reason and destroyed the engine.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

2003-2006 ford f350 diesel with 6.0 have a chain of issues, but they refuse to fix it. The oil cooler fails, then the egr system fails, finally head gaskets fail. And to fix it, the cab has t come off and it costs thousands of dollars to fix. Ford fix your issue.

-on 11/05/06 while driving on the highway at 75 mph, the engine on the 06 ford super duty 350 lost power and contact had have the vehicle towed to the dealership (sunrise ford in fort pierce, fl).prior to incident there were no warning lights or signs of stalling. On 12/08/06 and the sealer stated that they check the harness and replace the fuse.the contact experienced the same failure on 12/15/06 and had to get the vehicle tow again to a dealership (cook county ford in adel, ga) and they stated that there was a short on the module and they needed to replace it.the contact can provide copies of invoice repair.

The contact owns a 2006 ford f-350 superduty. The contact stated that the vehicle would not start when he attempted to turn it on. The failure occurred intermittently. The vehicle was towed to a repair shop where the contact was told that the cause of the failure could not be determined. He took the vehicle to another repair shop where the contact was informed that the sensor could be the cause of failure. The vehicle also stalled while he was driving approximately 65 mph. The vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer who stated that a high pressure oil leak, a defective sensor, and defective o-rings were the cause; the vehicle was repaired. The failure occurred again. The vehicle had not been repaired. The contact called the manufacturer who stated that they would look into the problem. The current mileage was approximately 92,000. The failure mileage was approximately 82,000.

I have a 6.0 motor in my truck.since last oct, 2010 i have had this truck in shop more times then what it is worth.i have had five fuel injectors replace, head gaskets, one head, rear end replace and now my turbo is going out on this motor.i also had the tow box replace.this truck has cost me more then what it is worth.i am very upset with this knowing that ford was a good truck made in america.,the total cost for all my problems ended up to be $18000.00 this is not right>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>the truck not worth this my mileage is only 184xxx and hours are 4861.9 i feel like i got suck in a lemon from the factory.never receive any information on this truck if their were problems..where i live there are about 200 or more people with the same problems.

The contact owns a 2006 ford f-350 sd. The contact stated while the vehicle was idle with pressure applied to the brake pedal the it lunged forward with a sudden increase in the rpms. In addition, an unexpected acceleration occurred when the vehicle was in motion. The failure occurred sporadically. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer on numerous occasions for the similar failures. The technician stated the failure was contributed to the diesel fuel consumed in the vehicle. They also recommended the manifold and erg valve be replaced. After the erg valve was replaced the failure continued to occur. The manufacturer was not made aware of the acceleration defect. There were no additional repairs performed on the vehicle. The failure mileage was approximately 96,000.

2006 ford f350 6.0l diesel pickup coolant heater return line not properly attached to firewall leading to coolant leakage and/or exhaust gas leakage.the cab heater coolant return line was supposed to be bolted in two places to the firewall to properly hold the coolant line in place.on my truck the two nuts that attach the line to the firewall were never installed at the factory - as evidenced by the factory paint never been scratched on thestuds on the firewall.without proper attaching of the line to the firewall the line then rests on top of the turbo exhaust pipe eventually wearing through one or both of the coolant line and exhaust pipe.my coolant line ruptured at 30,000 miles.

- the contact took the ford f-450 lcf to the local dealer to have recallrepairsdone on the engine and the structure of the vehicle.the dealer stated that it will take a month to repair the vehicle, and contact stated that they weren't provided with a loaner.the contact wasconcern because the vehicle was used for business.the vehicle had an odometer reading of 30,000.updated 01-23-08.the consumer stated on october 2006, received a recall for cab entry step reinforcement. The consumer stated this is the only recall received and on february 15, 2007 the truck accelerated with no brakes. The consumer further stated looked under hood and fluids were all over, vehicle was towed to the dealer and the dealer performed various recalls. The consumer stated the dealer had the vehicle for a 1 month with no loaner and products were not available to perform the recall and they had to replace the engine. Updated 1/23/08

I had a 05 ford super duty 6.0 liter diesel that had 3 new turbo's put on due to skoring. Ford replaced all 3. When turbo's go out you loose power. I have a 06 super duty that has 26828 miles. The warranty just went out 6/16/11. Ford had to put on another turbo because it was skored. Ford did pay $750 and i had to pay $1142. I was going down highway and lost power and had to limp home pulling a 5th wheel camper. I have read where ford has had a lot of problems with the 6.0 liter diesel engine. I am upset that ford that ford did not cover this problem fully because of all problems they have had with the engine. The property damage below was just to the turbo itself. I am wondering if you as an agency have had other complaints like this and to see if their are any recalls or are going to be any recalls on this problem. The engine only had 26828 miles on it and i do not drive it every day because i have a department vehicle. To drive to work because i am on call 24/7. I voiced my concern to ford and now i am voicing my concern to this agency.

My 2006 ford f-350 truck keeps stalling while the vehicle is moving and when it shuts off it will not start.i have taken it to the dealership twice in the past month.the first time they could not find the problem and said, "to come pick up the vehicle and that it was running".the 2nd time, i had the truck towed to the same dealership service department.they did the computer check and said, "they could not find anything wrong with it and the technician told my husband that if it happens again to check the fuel switch and reset it."the truck has done this 5 times since being returned from the dealers which was (april 25, 2007) and each time my husband has to hit the fuel cut off switch.today is 5/2/07.

Was driving on a heavy traffic highway, in the middle lane, and truck just quit running. This is unjustifiable!! over $5000.00 in repairs to get to get this truck to run! why hasn't ford issued a recall on this notorious problem on these diesel engines?! i will continue to pursue a class act lawsuit over this, i do believe there are enough ford owners very unhappy regarding these continuing issues.

The contact owns a 2006 ford f-350 sd.while driving 30 mph, the vehicle began losing power.the dealer diagnosed that the inner lining of the fuel tank was rusted and four injectors were damaged.the manufacturer was not contacted.the vehicle was in the process of being repaired.the failure and current mileage was 56,000.

Engine filters get clogged up and cause the truck to run erratically and stall, caused from debris from a faulty fuel tank.

This vehicles issues began with the galvanizing of the interior of the fuel tank flaking off and getting into the fuel system.it is a diesel.it has been to the shop to have the fuel tank replaced, injectors replaced, high pressure fuel pump replaced to name a few.all after the fuel tank problem.since then the vehicle has shut down a number of times while on the highway.this is extremely hazardous to lose all power.fortunately our drivers have been able to maneuver it off the highway before causing an accident.ford has denied having a problem with their fuel tanks; however, when we checked around we found it to be quite common.in fact we had a difficult time securing a new tank because there were so many replacements being done.i believe ford should step forward and admit there is an issue and deal with it.we discussed this with a zone manager and got nowhere.

2006 ford f-350 super duty diesel dump truck.this truck has been to crowley ford in plainville ct. Over 50 times , yes that's right i said 50.the truck has been towed in no less than 6 times in 4 years.many times leaving a crew of 5 stranded on the side of a highway.ford technicians have not been able to determine what is wrong with the vehicle.truck will suddenly loose power or just shut off.ford has denied that there is anything wrong with this particular truck and motor but there are many contractors in our area that are having the same problem.recently the truck sat at crowley ford from march 1 through the end of march, their tech's nor fords tech's could figure out what was wrong with it.they are still denying that the gas tank delamination has any bearing on the situation.completely disgusted with ford and their lack of attention.i assume its going to take a fatality or two before the press picks up on this story and finally holds ford accountable.in the mean time small contractors and truck owners are taking it in the wallet because ford will not acknowledge this problem.please help us out here!!!

The contact owns a 2006 ford f-350 diesel. The vehicle at idle or driving down the road will without notice begin to buck, and suddenly increase rpm's and accelerate,or will stall. The vehicle was taken to thedealer and they replaced the erg valve. That corrected it for about 30 days and then it started it again. I took it back and they told me i would have to replace the manifold next, because the carbon that had built up in the manifold. After a lengthy discussion they admitted that this is a serious problem with this engine. The ford engineers told them that this engine was designed by international for the european market and their diesel fuel is more refined than ours, stating thatis what is causing the problem. Ford refuses to stand behind the problem. Just look at the internet about the 6.0 diesel engine and there is page after page stating the same problems. At this point i have not corrected the problem, i am still trying to decide how i shall proceed. The vehicle has 96,000 miles. I have only used exxon or shell fuel.

The contact owns a 2006 ford f-350 super duty. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled while driving at various speeds on five separate occasions. The contact also stated that the failure was due to the delamination of the fuel tank, which created a flaky substance within the fuel tank. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer and the contact was informed that the fuel tank was delaminating. The contact replaced the fuel filter himself after the five separate failures. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 9,000.updated 02/15/12*ljupdated 04/26/12

The contact owns a 2006 ford f-350 sd. While driving 50 mph the vehicle stalled. After three attempts the vehicle would not start. The vehicle was towed to the dealer who stated that the diesel fuel tank was contaminated and the coating inside the tank came apart. They will not repair the failure under warranty because he used the wrong diesel fuel. The contact will be responsible for the repair cost of $7,000. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 11,000.

Fuel tank delaminated causing engine stutter or complete shut off. Fuel tank replaced by ford under warranty. Had vehicle in for service/ repair and was told that there was problems with new tank but that it was not covered under warranty.

We own a ford f-350 diesel pickup. It is a 2006, purchased new.it has had repeated power failure in the last two and half years, with other similar problems before that. Most recently we had it towed to our dealership to the tune of $2500.00 repair for fuel injectors and fuel injector modules. The problem, is safety for our lives and possibly others in our path. The vehicle has recurring engine failure causing it to die while driving. This has happened not only at a stop light, but through intersections, and on straight roads. We most recently had it die twice while pulling 2 horses in a trailer. Quickly shifting into neutral to restart to avoid an accident.it had to be towed to our home just last thursday april 14th due to not restarting.today, april 18th, we took this truck to our local ford dealership as was recommended by ford motor co.apparently there is an issue with these trucks having engine/power failure and other things associated with the international parts that were used for this year truck.we are retired, trying to run a business which depends on this pickup. We are fearful of this happening while driving on a highway, through an intersections, or coming to a stop and losing poser. Our lives are at stack and those around us.our warranty is up on the truck. The last time is was just out of warranty one month. No one from ford ever mentioned renewing our warranty at any time either.we would like to see this addressed as there are thousands out there having similar issues. It is not just a "lemon", it is an error made that should be recalled.

New 2006 ford 3500 super duty has had a vibration since i bought it and it is more of a buck and jerk when in tow/haul mode with trailer.

We have several 2006 f350 super duty 4x4 pickups.in the past two weeks two of them have broken out the eyes,on the left front axle, that retain the u joints.in the first instance , the spindle was then broken out around the upper ball joint eye.the steering control was gone completely at that point.in the second case the driver heard the axle break, stopped and turned the hubs out.the only damage was to the axle.the first incident cost approximately $1500 for the axle and spindle and the special tools to fix it.the second cost$500 for the axle.

I purchased my 2006 superduty new in june 2006 when the truck was new i had some shaking in the front end at speeds over 65 but recently it has got much worse. This has occurred at least ten times now and the last few times on the interstate when going around 70 mph if you hit rough spots it will start a violent shake if i slowly reduce speed it will stop around 45 mph. I am starting to think it is not even safe enough for my family to ride in the truck anymore. My dealer says they don't see any problems so i have not been able to get anything done to resolve this problem even though the truck has less than 36,000 and is still under bumper to bumper warranty till june of this year. I have had many fords over the past 8 years and i would like to think that ford will take care of this if they want to keep me as a loyal customer. I don't think i should be responsible to pay for fords design flaws out of my pocket (if there even is a way to fix it). If ford will not do something to permanently fix the problem my wife and i will no longer buy from them.

Question: have you had this complaint before? like i said, there are several forums on the web about this problem.#2 problem is the seat is just falling apart. Unbelievable that it has worn thru with the little mileage i put on the vehicle. Side support has completely collapsed and material is coming apart.ford says o-well. Was driving my 2006 f350 sd lariat dually with only 7,858 miles, hauling a gooseneck trailer with a horse inside and steering started to shimmy once i got up to highway speed (55 mph) on i-85n enroute to a horse show.placed my foot on the brake and got no response. I could not stop the 15,000# of truck, trailer and horse but was able to get off the road and cruise into a large empty parking lot and slow down enough where i could safely apply the emergency brake without going through the windshield or injuring my horse. Tires were fine but there was a distinctive smell of burning pad against red hot metal and tremendous smoke was billowing out from behind the passenger side right front wheel where the rotor is seated.brake caliper seized onto the rotor, warping it and destroying the brake pad.post police escort, had it towed to the dealership and $2,400 later (which included new batteries and 2 new front tires), all the offending items were replaced.i specifically asked that the rear calipers and brake mechanism be checked and they assured me they did and nothing was wrong.however, coming directly home from the dealership, my driver side rear wheel brake seized with the same exact problem.again, had to be towed to the dealership and another $1,600 later (this amount includes 4 more tires), replacing everything having to do with the rear brakes.in my research on this matter, i have discovered that this is not an isolated but a common problem possibly due to faulty hcu (hydraulic control unit) equipment.could have easily been a tragic accident on a very busy interstate.this is most definitely a safety issue.a fire also could have easily started as the brake fluid pumped back into the main engine area of the truck.though i have replaced both front and rear brakes there is no assurance that this danger will not recur.

The contact owns a 2006 ford f-350 sd. While driving 5 mph, the brake pedal was depressed and failed to stop the vehicle. The contact was able to use the emergency brake to stop the vehicle. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 96,738.

Front end of truck wobbles-shakes out of control when going over explanation joint on overpass. Does not stop wobble until vehicle is slowed down to about 30mph. Fear of getting rear-ended.

I have a 2006 ford f350 4 wheel drive single wheel long bed king ranch.i will be driving down the road or interstate anywhere between 30 and 80 miles an hour, and if you hit the smallest imperfections in the road the truck will start shaking violently, uncontrollable, the steering wheel moves about 14 inches side to side so fast and hard, that it takes ill i've got to hold on to the wheel.you can hear the tires chirp side to side on the pavement it wobbles so severely.i've replaced the steering dampener, the power steering pump, had it aligned 4 times, brand new tires, i have adjusted the castor accordingly to fords tsb forum, had my rotors turned, and wheels and tires balanced so many times.its so bad, it shakes the stuff in the bed of my truck onto the highway.my truck only has 92,000 miles on it.im afraid to drive it.all i know is that i didn't pay 64,000 dollars for a truck that i cant drive.i will spend the money to fix it, but ford says its a normal condition.

While driving along the hwy at approx 65mph i ran across a patch of uneven road at which caused my 2006 f350 4x4 steering to shake violently i had to carefully pull over to the shoulder which was no small task as there was a lot of trafficthe shaking would not stop until i was almost stopped this happened 4 times on different roads . The vehicle is stock not lifted and has oem tires.i am trying to find a fix but i am finding out this is a common problem for ford and they are unwilling to help fix.

While driving at city or highway speeds under certain conditions the steering wheel will vibrate left to right causing loss of control. Feels like the steering damper is not working at all.

2006 ford f-350 sd 2wd has a violent front end shimmy that has been caused by the smallest imperfection in the highway. At speeds of 50mph+ the shaking is so intense that it causes swerving and you must come to a near complete stop before the shaking will cease. Since it happens on the freeway, we have nearly been rear ended and have swerved into other lanes. This is a safety concern for all passengers in the vehicle. It can occur once every other day or four times in 20miles.

The contact owns a 2006 ford f-350 sd.while driving approximately 65 mph, the steering vibrated and wobbled excessively.in addition, the front end of the vehicle began to shimmy.there were no warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel.immediately, the driver pulled the vehicle over.she drove to an authorized dealer, but they could not duplicate the failures.the vehicle was taken back to an authorized dealer and an independent mechanic on separate occasions for identical failures, but there were no resolutions.currently, the authorized dealer is replacing the steering stabilizer shock and drag link.the vin was unable to be entered into the system.the failure mileage was 65,000 and current mileage was 87,000.

I own a 2006 ford f-350 king ranch crew cab four wheel drive truck. I am the original owner. A few times through out the years there had been a shake after hitting a bump in the road at 60mph+. We received a letter noting a potential problem. We brought the truck to the dealer and they replaced brakes and 2 tires (other 2 had been replaced previously) and when we drove it home it started "the death wobble" (as the dealer calls it-and as i see many others on the internet). The truck started experiencing violent front-end shaking. During an episode of left-to-right shaking, the truck is very difficult to control. With my hand placed on the 12:00 position on the steering wheel, the shaking violently turns the steering wheel to where my hand is going back and forth between 10:00 and 2:00. Slowing down to 30mph has stopped each of the three episodes. This truck has dealer installed tires and does not have a lift kit on it. Air pressure in the tires equal manufacturers recommendation. They acted as if this is an uncommon problem at first, and said they have never heard of a letter that went out. Then the next visit they say so commonly, that it is the death wobble and will cost $1500. It appears that ford motor company has blamed tire pressure, giant aftermarket tires, and lift kits for this problem. My truck has none of these possible causes.

Excessive front end shimmy on occasion with my ford f350 4x4. I have received a letter from ford discussing this issue. The first time the problem occurred, my tire pressure was low and subsequently maintaining proper tire pressure seemed to prevent the problem for a while. However, recently i hit some bumps while traveling on the highway at a speed of approximately 65 mph and the front end began to shimmy very violently. I knew to hit the brakes to regain control of the steering, but i had to stay on my brakes until i slowed to approximately 40 mph before i could regain control of the steering wheel. I called a local ford service center, but they said they would "only be guessing" at the proper way to fix the problem. I then called ford customer service to discuss the issue, as i am nervous about riding on the highway with the vehicle. They suggested that i call several service centers until i find one that has experience with trying to fix this particular problem. I have done that and i have found that none of the local dealers know how to correct the problem.this shimmy problem is occurring more and more often and i am convinced that it will eventually result in an accident on the highway.

Shakes steering wheel around 40mph, but sporadically.

Was traveling on the highway at a rate of speed of 55mph on a 2006 f350 super duty 4x4 when i went over an uneven surface on the highway which caused the front end to shake violently almost causing me to hit a vehicle on my right hand side. Though i had experienced a flat but everything looked fine. Cannot drive this vehicle in this condition. Tire pressure on all wheels is fine.

Vehicle control compromised when incurring sharp changes in road surface (potholes, expansion joints, etc).

I purchased the truck used may 2011. The very day i purchased the truck i got a wooble when i hit a bump. This is a daily occurance. When i hit a bump just right or when i apply medium to hard breaking it begins to wobble to get it under control i have to break hard and come almost to a complete stop. I have had it in the dealership 3 times i wastold there was nothing wrong with the front end, and was told to adjust my air pressure lower, they adjusted it, it corrected nothing. I have began to just drive and deal with it till today.it shook me into an oncoming lane before i got it under control.i realize this is not a new truck, this problem seems to be being swept under the rug. Some will get injured or killed if this is not resolved. I don't dare let my wife drive the truck because i know she does not have the skills to control this.

The death wobble that you say had only 76 complants is [xxx] !over the last 3 years it has happened over 18 times with new correct size tires @ correct pressure !i have had to make rapid lane changes slamming on the brakes to get to the side of the road so it will stop !if you think this is not a problem maybe you should go to work for ford ,on second thought its apparent you already do !information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

I was in oakland california i880 north number four lane pulling my car trailer with a load when the "death wobble" occurred, before i could grab the trailer brakes to slow the vehicle, the rig started a whip and the trailer struck the "k" rail.i slowed to about 10mph before the shimmy stopped. The fender on the right side of the trailer was destroyed and blew both tires on the tandem axle trailer.luckily no one else was involved and no one was hurt.this truck now is on it's third set of the factory b.f. Goodrich rugged trail t/a radials on the front.i have had this vehicle aligned with each tire change and have experimented with tire pressures, it does not matter, after about ten thousand miles on a set of tires it shimmies again.i have resorted to the safety and reliability of my 30 year old chevy half ton and overloading it by up to 50% out of fear for this truck.because of shear numbers involved, nothing will ever be done by the nhtsa about this vehicle type's defects.

2006 ford f350 4x4 steering problems.dealer authorized 2" revtek leveling kit installed on front end.stock 20" wheels and tires.only ford dealer maintained since new.steering is inconsistent.two problems.first: serious safety issue.at highway speeds truck will veer left crossing centerline.requires excessive steering effort to correct, which frequently results in overcorrection to right.power steering effort appears in increase and decrease during events.incident requires letting off the gas and slowing to get vehicle back in control.second: after low speed 90 degree turns (eg: left or right turn at an intersection in town) steering will not want to straighten out and requires excessive effort.frequently, after straightening out truck will veer in opposite direction.at low speeds vehicle is controllable with effort.just spent another $741 at ford dealer on new power steering pump, rotate, balance, alignment.problem was not fixed.

We have 2 2006 ford f-250 super duty crew cab v10s. Both exhibit a shimmy/wobble in the front end when hitting a pothole with the driver's side front tire that requires us to slow down until it goes away in order to retain control of the vehicle.

2006 ford f-350 super duty dual axle. Vehicle suffers severe, violent, and uncontrollable shimmy / vibrations when crossing uneven pavement. Most notably when doing so while in a left angled turn. Must apply immediate heavy breaking to below 20 mph to get the uncontrollable vibration to stop. Have nearly been rear-ended on numerous occasions due to this issue. Tires are properly inflated and vehicle suspension is completely factory stock. This is a very dangerous situation and has been occurring since purchase nearly two years ago.

I bought my truck used with 20k miles on it in 2007 and did not have any problems with the front end shaking and the steering wheel shaking violently till about 37k when i took it to the local ford dealership to get it checked out. My truck steering wheel and front end starts shaking at about 40 mph and gets real bad at about 55 mph and really bad slowing down in that same range. Any time i've had repairs done by the dealership the repairs done to my truck on the invoices state the dealership verified complaint and then how they fixed the problem but when i took my truck in for this problem my invoice reads my complaint and then "no repair attempted". They said they could not duplicate the problem so they did not repair anything but according to the invoice they did not even look at it because it doesn't say they even tried to verify my complaint it just says " no repair attempted". So each mile i have put on the truck till now the problem has been getting worse. Before the steering wheel would shake after hitting a bump in the road or pot hole but now it does it just driving just about everytime it gets to 40 mph and definitely around 50-55 mph. Sometimes it shakes to where i can slow down and it goes away and other times it shakes so bad i have to stop and how safe is that on interstate with my wife and 2 daughters. I've had a couple auto shops look at my truck and they said i needed new tires and an alignment. So i needed them anyway so i took it and got all "6"(dually)new tires put on and an alignment and they said everything else was tight and good in the front end but i still have the problem. I took it to another shop and had the front end checked and they said everything was good and tight. My truck now has 48k so i called my ford dealership again and they said they would have to get it in and do a long step-by-step list of procedures and checks to verify the problem but it will cost cause my truck is out of warranty now. I have not taken it in yet. $$$$$$$

My new 2006 f-350 sd 4x4dually fnt end wobbles if small bump is hit (like a road joint) on road way at speeds over 50 mph have had truck in shop several times still does same thing one shop in town has been in business since the 50s says he gets alot of these trucks doing the same thing he has checked with ford no fix is available.

2006 ford f-350 has "death wobble" and is unsafe for driving!!!!

The contact owns a 2006 ford f-350 sd. The contact stated that while driving 70 mph, the power steering malfunctioned and became loose. The contact made a stop and noticed that the power steering assist had failed. The contact turned the steering wheel, however the wheels did not respond. The vehicle was unable to be driven and was towed to the contact's residence. The vehicle was not inspected by the dealer or mechanic to determine a cause for the failure. The failure was not reported to the manufacturer. The vin was not available. The failure and current mileage was 70,100.

The contact owns a 2006 ford f-350 sd.the contact stated that he experienced multiple failures with the vehicle shaking violently.while driving 70 mph, the vehicle began to shimmy and shake violently.he reduced the speed to 40 mph and the shaking ceased.he is in the process of taking the vehicle to the dealer for further inspection.the manufacturer is aware of the failure, but will not provide compensation because the vehicle was not included in a recall and the warranty was expired.the contact believes that the failure could possibly lead to additional failures regarding the ball joints, tie rod, and anything dealing with the steering due to the violent shaking.the vin was unavailable.the failure mileage was 34,000 and current mileage was 62,000.

The initial occurrence in december 2011 was a steering stick in the direction of the turn and required force to turn opposite the direction of the turn. The problem ceased and did not reoccur until mid-may of 2012. The problem manifested itself as a severe oscillation of the vehicle steering accompanied by directional sticking and "indexing" in the steering. The first attempt at repair was to flush the power steering system. This actually resulted in a worse oscillation. The problem was still intermittent but occurring more frequently. The dealer was unable to duplicate the problem and i asked for the steering gear to be replaced. This did not solve the problem. The next step was to replace the steering damper. This also did not result in elimination of the problem. During the damper replacement it was noted that there existed a very small amount of play in the dragling ball joint. While not particular out of the acceptable range we agreed to replace the drag link. The drag link has been replaced and the vehicle continues to demonstrate a "walking" motion requiring the operator to actively steer the vehicle to remain in a lane. In addition, the vehicle will demonstrate relatively good stability in a sweeping turn until the wheel is displaced beyond roughly 5 degrees at which point the steering displays an active pull in the direction of the turn. The vehicle is being returned to the dealer for continued evaluation. The ford technicians have examined and passed the power steering pump, the hydroslave system, front tires, front tire pressure, front ball joints as well as the front axle u-joints. At this point, they have no further suggestions as to the cause of the problem.

I was traveling north on i59 through meridian mississippi at approximately 8:00 pm yesterday on 06/22/2012. I came across an overpass at about 70 mph when the rough surface of the bridge caused the truck to shake very violently in the front end. I immediately tried to control/correct it by holding the steering wheel firmly and braking. It started to subside and then started again. I held the steering wheel straight and firm, and braked harder until the shaking stopped. I had slowed to approximately 40 to 50 mph before it had stopped. This all took place in matter of seconds. Though frustrated because i had just purchased the truck earlier on this day, i feel fortunate that it happened with little traffic. I had recently crossed over lake pontchartrain bridge in louisiana just hours earlier.

My 2016 f350 super duty 4wd disesal has a death wobble with only 46,ooo miles. The dealership at seminole ford, seminole oklahoma 405-382-2222 told me i would have to pay 1200 to fix this. I was driving 70mph on the highway yesterday and my vehicle went out of control almost causing me to wreck. I immediately scheduled an appointment with the dealership. I will forward the bill when i receive it. This is a safety hazard and a factory defect that i should not be responsible for, i had the vehicle at the dealership one month ago and had to pay for a new def heater at the tune almost $1,000. At that time they did their multi-point inspection which shows that the parts that failed were all fine. Please help me as ford is trying to screw me over on a 70k truck with minimal miles. This should be a recall issue that ford should pay for not the consumer.

The contact owns a 2006 ford f-350 superduty. The contact was driving at approximately 35 mph and noticed that the wheels began to shake violently from left to right after the vehicle went over a small pothole. He stated that the steering also felt loose. The contact stopped the vehicle, waited and attempted to continue driving. The contact called the dealership but no repairs were performed on the vehicle at the time of the complaint. The failure mileage was approximately 22,900. The current mileage was 22,915.

Steering/suspension oscillates or going into a harmonic bouncing after encountering a bump in the road. Usually around 65 mph. Slowing down will stop the harmonic bouncing. It has occurred about 8 times while i had owned the vehicle the latest being 12/26/08. I purchased the vehicle new in dec. 2006. As of 1/2009 the vehicle has 27,000 miles on it. Scares the daylights out of me when it happens. No repair/correcting actions have been taken at this time.

Ford trucks have a severe shimmy at highway speeds that will make the truck change lanes or go off the road,my wife had to stop in the fast lane because it would not stop shaking,we had it towed to ford and were told this is a normal characteristic of trucks and that there is no fix ?what is the number of people that must die beforeyou address this problem ?the truck has new tires of factory specs.?

While driving on the freeway and on two lane roads, and after hitting a pothole on one side of the vehicle, the truck started shaking uncontrollably. In order to stop shaking vehicle was pulled over to the shoulder and brought to a stop.

The contact owns a 2006 ford f-350 sd.the contact stated that there was a wobble in the front end of his vehicle.he referenced tsb number 10021230 from ford pertaining to the steering wheel oscillation and took the vehicle to the dealer.the dealer repaired the failure according to the tsb, but stated that there may have still been minor oscillation, which was normal.after retrieving the vehicle, the contact noticed that the steering wheel pulled to the right.he could also still feel the oscillation in the steering wheel.the entire front tire would shake violently on the highway, forcing the contact to decelerate to approximately 35 mph in order for the shaking to cease.the current mileage was 34,824 and failure mileage was 34,686.

2006 f 350 very violent shaking in the front end after hitting bumps and such in the road. In order to stop the shaking one has to slow almost to a stop. On the highway this is very dangers and something needs to be done...

2006 f-350 ford truck since truck was purchased when tires are about 60% used bad wobble in front end when on a curve right or left when hitting a bump in road or a change in pavement height. When this happens truck is hard to control until speed is reduced to approx 45 mph. A rebalance of the tires help but still wobbles at speeds above 50mph in the above circumstances. Truck now has 65,000 miles on it and i am on the 5th set of tires have used 4 different brands but it always seem to be the same as the tire wear the wobble gets worse and worse. The wobble is always there even when the tires are new but it is minimal until the tire wears to about 60% of the tread then it gets to an unsafe level of drivable it literally jerks the steering wheel uncontrollably until you slow below 50mph. Ford is aware of this problem and many commercial truck buyers (pacific gas and electric and southern california edison to name two)have brought there fleet trucks in to have no success of repair. I am being told there is no fix so perhaps a recall is in order. At first i thought it was a problem with the contitract 18" tires that came on the truck from the factory (they were the worst with the wobble) but i have since used other brands and the problem still persists.

2006 ford f-350 truck is "road wild" due to excessive play in steering box. Vehicle has had 3 new steering gears (and many other front end parts) in 34,000 miles. Each gear lasts about 8-10,000 miles. After roughly 10,000 miles, truck wanders requiring excessive steering wheel rotation to correct. Last service appointment ford "field engineer" determined after a test drive that it "drove like his truck" and was normal.

2006 ford f-350 xlt crew cab diesel.vehicle experiences violent shaking in the front end at speeds of 45-55 mph.vehicle has been in the shop numerous times (new tires, shocks, steering stabilizers) without resolution.when the shaking starts the vehicle becomes extremely violent and hard to control.the truck has to be almost completely stopped before the shake will stop.after doing some research on the internet i have found numerous people with the same symptoms.some have wrecked their vehicles, others have had very close calls.ford does not acknowledge the issue that i can find.

While traveling at approximately 30 mph through a curve, the steering suddenly and completely failed causing the vehicle to go out of control and crash. There was no advance warning. An inspection at the scene revealed that parts of the vehicle's steering system had not been installed at the factory and the steering system fell apart in the curve as a result of this negligence. The police report listed mechanical failure as the accident cause and no driver error was involved. The driver was injured and the vehicle sustained substantial damage. Ford has refused to take responsibility for their vehicle's mechanical failure and refuses to honor the vehicle's warranty despite the fact the vehicle is less than two years old and has only 23,000 +/- miles on it. No alterations were made to the vehicle's drive train or suspension and it was a fully stock vehicle at the time of the crash.

I have a 2006 f350 that has what has been referred to as the deaf wobble.mostly when i drive between 40 - 55 if the truck comes across a small bump or uneven road the front wheels / steering wheel shakes back and forth out of control.the only way i found it to stop it is to hit the brakes and slow down until it stops and then you can try it again until the wobble comes back.also this truck is completely stock not after market parts have been added, no lifts etc.

I have a 2006 ford f-350 pickup and when you hit a bump when bend in road at highway speeds the front end of the truck goes into a death wobble with the front suspension.this happens very routinely and seems to be getting worse.truck is even a hand full to control at highway speeds at 65 mph going down a straight away with bumpy surface.

I have a 2006 fordf-350 4x4. I am having some serious issues with the front end of my truck shaking very badly every time i go over a highway bridge with uneven pavement, uneven pavement, dips or shallow holes on highways. Going over railroad tracks on highway routes with speed limits of 55 mph, i have to slow to at least 30 mph because my front wheels start shaking so bad i cannot control the truck. My truck is used strictly for onroad driving and kept in excellent condition and serviced on a regular basis. I feel that my day to day driving have not contributed to this condition and feel it could be some sort of a defect in my 2006 f-350. This has been occurring on a regular basic since my purchase of the truck 13 months ago. I have had the tires rotated a number of time and was recently told that my tire rods need to be replaces. A ford service agent told me it was no reason why my tire rods would go bad so quick for normal highway driving.

Truck started to gradually pull to the right when driving, after a couple of weeks took truck for alignment and was told that upper and lower ball joints on right side front knuckle needed replacing. Took car to ford dealer and ball joints were replaced under warranty. Right front tire got worn on right edge and dealer said that the tire was not the responsibility of ford eventhough the failure of the ball joints caused the tire to wear out unevenly.

The consumer stated this is the only recall received and on february 15, 2007 the truck accelerated with no brakes. The consumer further stated looked under hood and fluids were all over, vehicle was towed to the dealer and the dealer performed various recalls.

My vehicle has suspension oscillations that can lead to an accident, ford has tried 7 times to fix it and now tells me that they can't fix it and it is a normal characteristic of the truck after 35+ days out of service. These oscillations could lead to loss of control and a crash. This truck is a danger to me and my family. It is a 2006 f350. It has had said oscillations since new, and they seem to be getting worse, and i am concerned for my safety. There are daily incidents of this oscillation/bouncing while driving, and ford now tells me they wont work on the problem any more.

New 2006 ford 3500 super duty has had a vibration since i bought it and it is more of a buck and jerk when in tow/haul mode with trailer.

Front end of truck wobbles-shakes out of control when going over explanation joint on overpass. Does not stop wobble until vehicle is slowed down to about 30mph. Fear of getting rear-ended.

Death shimmy. Steering wheel shakes violently when a bump or discontinuity in the road is encountered.you cannot hold the steering wheel during this event.cure is to reduce vehicle speed below 15 mph.this is hazardous if traveling at high speed or pulling a trailer.as you cannot hold the wheel during this event, the vehicle will change lanes and presents a fatal hazard as you attempt to reduce speed from 65 mph to below 15 mph without steering control.ford acknowledges the problem in letter 09l02 sent in 2009 and again in 2015.their solution to properly inflate the tires is false as tire pressure has no effect on occurance or severity.i have replaced the tires and run up the pressure in 5 lb increments from 55 to 80 psi.no effect in the frequency or severity of the vibration.## vin passed ## ford f350 super duty 2006 ##

The vehiche when traveling at highway speeds in excess of 55 mph when hitting a bump begins to shake which grows to a voilent shaking.in order to stop this shaking the vehicle must be slowed under 25 mph. This has happened on numerous occasions between the date above and today. Repeated service visits to a local ford dealership service center have been unable to correct the problem.

I have a 2006 ford f350 crewcab superduty that has a shimmy / vibration in cab of truck which happens when i hit a dip or bump and if i slow down sometimes it goes away quickly when i slow down and sometimes i have slow down below 30mph. How safe is that on an interstate? i did receive a letter from ford saying this common but i disagree because this is my third superduty and the last two i did not experience this problem but they had diesel engines this is gas. My dealership told ford customer rep that i need a road worthy test or the drive shaft is out of balance so they are guessing too. The dealership did not even know about this letter that ford sent to superduty owners. Ford rep stated there is no recall on this vehicle. The service manager at the local dealership believes the problem is because a gas engine is too light and the superdutys were made for diesel engines. I have no idea how true this is but my first two superduty trucks i had were diesel and i did not experience this. I have drafted up a letter to send to nys attorney general and to ford but i am not very confident about the end results. My warranty has run out and now it is on my nickel. I even put new e rated tires on the truck in december and has been at the dealership twice which they said the tires were out of balance and needed to be rotated. I have less than 3,000 miles on these tires so that did not make any sense. As of this date the tires have been balanced a total of three times which absolutely no sense either. I am going to get a second opinion from my mechanic that i have been using for over 20 years which is not a ford dealership to see if the problem can be resolved since i am not getting much help from ford or the dealership. This shimmy / vibration does get me nervous at times and do not feel i am very safe in keeping this big pickup under control and i do not exceed the speed limit more than 5 mph. I have been a ford person for over thirty years and now i may have to change.

2006 ford f-350 has "death wobble" and is unsafe for driving!!!!

Traveling @55 mph, when i ran over a small pot hole.my truck shook violently and was extremely difficult to control and stay in the lane of traffic and slow down to a speed wherein i could bring my vehicle under control ( 35 mph).visual inspection showed no anomalies.my tires did not appear to be damaged as if i had run over an object. There were no objects in the highway.approximately 60 minutes later, after i finished my errand and was returning home, another incident occurred. This as more violent erratic front end jumpingand i had to move to two lanes to stop my vehicle. Again, inspection showed nothing out of the ordinary.i then proceeded directly to my ford dealership where i spoke with a service person. I requested that my vehicle be placed on a lift to get a complete inspection. The manager refused to do this stating that this was a continental tire problembecause of "stiff sidewalls"and that i should return in a few days for an inspection at that time and they would place a "steering damper" on my truck ( of which i might be financially responsible" and that may or may not correct the problem.i feel this is an extremely dangerous situation, one in which i am very fortunate not be hurt, my vehicle damaged, or someone else injured. My dealership is pooh-poohing it as if it is nothing.

I own an06'ford f350 sd.i first noticed an extreme tire shimmy/bounce at around 15,000 mi, when a pot hole, bridge expansion or rough road is encountered.the truck now has 105,000 mi. And the problem has become some extreme that i believe it is too dangerous to drive until the problem is remedied.the bouncing is so extreme that control of the truck is nearly lost.ford has sent me a letter claiming improper tire pressure is the problem, i have adjusted but to no help.the truck shimmys/ shakes uncontrollably, at every bump encountered.this is an extremely dangerous situation which is wide spread among sd owners according to postings on the web.please help!

I have a 2006 f 350 with 28,000 miles on it .when i hit potholes or rough road the truck shakes {shimmies ] violently when speeds at 55 mph i must slow down to 25/30 mph on the freeway this is dangerous i went to the dealer they said it was tire pressure in side driverside door says 75 psi that's what im running .the problemstillhappens.

The contact owns a 2006 ford f-350 super duty. The contact was driving approximately 60 mph over a road bump when the contact lost all steering control. He had to decrease the vehicles' speed to 30 mph to regain steering control. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic where the steering bushing, shocks, lower control, and idler arms were replaced. The failure recurred within three weeks of the repairs. The contact located aninvestigation (nhtsa item number: pe07057- suspension:front) which described failure and inquired with the dealer. The dealer set the tire pressure to the correct manufacturer's specifications to correct the failure. The failure mileage was 86,800 and the current mileage was 86,444.

Violent front end shaking at 65 mph when vehicle hits uneven or variation in highway.vehicle must be slowed or stopped to reduce or stop shaking.shaking was so severe that vehicle steering was uncontrollable.it feels like the vehicle is going to loose control and flip.vehicle is totally stock from ford.vehicle has been serviced at ford.comment on cause was something was loose in the front end?shaking stopped for a while and then returned.

2006 ford f350 sd 4x4 front end aligned less than 1 month prior with all tire pressure checked and corrected.driving in dry conditions approaching an overpass on a curve, front of overpass bridge surface is bumpy and rough, speed 45-50 mph.hit rough surface and front end started to shake uncontrollably!!!!had to hit brakes and swear to shoulder to keep from going off overpass! *ln

We have 2 2006 ford f-250 super duty crew cab v10s. Both exhibit a shimmy/wobble in the front end when hitting a pothole with the driver's side front tire that requires us to slow down until it goes away in order to retain control of the vehicle.

Driving down the highway a year and a half ago when i hit an uneven patch of pavement. My truck vibrated like it was going to fall apart. I thought i'd blown out a tired. I got out and everything was fine. I drove around for another couple of days (below 50 mph) until i had the need to get on the freeway. Got up to speed 75 and hit an uneven surface, causing my truck to vibrate again very frightening....took the truck into the dealership where they installed dual steering stabilizers. Everything worked ok until last week. I noticed that now my truck catches when i turn right, and is difficult to steer. I noticed left stabilizer is worn out, i replaced it tonight. This did not fix the issue. I'm taking it back to the dealer and i would guess there is going to be a major front end issue. I hope the death wobble didn't screw up my truck.

This has happened several times when the truck is traveling along a road or highway. Your drive turns into a death wobble. The truck is uncontrollable and jumps lanes and is all over the road. This is a danger that has been presented to ford by many and it is just being ignored. This is a true danger and may not only kill the driver and passengers but anyone driving down the road. It's all over the internet and happening all over the country.this is being swept under the carpet, just as the pinto was, with many deaths. You as the safety board need to step up and do something so consumers can drive the vehicles that they have purchased, for many over $55,000.

Excessive front end shimmy/wobble.

The contact owns a 2006 ford f-350 sd.while driving 50 mph, the front end of the vehicle begins to jump and bounce back and forth.the failure usually occurs from a bridge to pavement, from pavement to a bridge, on uneven pavement, or in various other driving conditions.the dealer could not duplicate the failure.the purchase date was unknown.the current mileage was 44,000 and failure mileage was 21,977.

I am disappointed in the findings on the f-350 superduty front suspension shimmy as it is called. I have a 06 f-350 sd with only 54,000 miles on it. The front end has been completely replaced twice and needs it again but ford will not warranty it because of the factory warranty expiring. This severe shimmy is real and to allow a finding that states the tire pressure is to blame is completely false and so stunning. Does the odi really expect the vehicle owners to buy this. Looks like ford had its hand in this one again. I want my truck fixed and i will not pay for it. Ford knows this problem exist but is not large enough yet to recall. Will someone die first? my truck is that severe it will leave the road if your not expecting it. The tire pressure is correct and no suspension modifications. I have had this front end completely rebuilt twice every year so far since purchase and as of march of this year it needs it again. They wanted to charge me $1400.00 to fix it even though it has really never been fixed from the initial repair. Please come take a ride and check my tire pressure you will be completely scared before we are done.

Vehicle control compromised when incurring sharp changes in road surface (potholes, expansion joints, etc).

The contact owns a 2006 ford f-350 superduty. While driving over a bump or pothole, the front end would shimmy. The contact called the dealer who stated that the front end dampener needed to be replaced. The contact repaired the problem himself. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.

Original tire size lt275/65r20. Spare tire size lt275/70r16. 2006 king ranch f-350 , 4 -door powerstroke diesel. Factory spare tire won't fit over the brake caliper. Should've been a 20 inch rim as are the stock ones. This is not one of ford's better ideas! should be a recall and replace with the right size.

Toyo open country xtreme a/t ii lt285/75r/17e both inside duals sidewall bubbles. It has been reported to the tire dealer and toyo tires usa. Tires purchased in may 2013. Tires have 5,130 miles on them.dot serial # m431013 same for both tires. The truck has a truck camper mounted in the pick up bed. Tires were maintained at 75 psi on all 7 tires. Truck has a 12 pack rear leaf spring system instead of the oem 5 pack and 1 overload spring that ford called it's camper package. I have photos of the tires if needed.thank you

I purchased a new set of continental tires from colony tire located in raleigh nc in late 2012 early 2014. I drive a f-350 sd. In august 2013 i was traveling with my son on nc i 40 e bound around 400 ml marker when 1 of the tires blew out. I didn't think much of it, 1st blow out on that truck in 8 yrs. The 2 continental tire blew out december 12th 2013 on i 40 e bound also near 411 mile marker. At that time i was thinking what are the odds but again things happen. The third tire blew out while traveling to greenville sc. That was in february 20, 2014. I didn't know what to think. That was the third tire that blew in that same set. I have the last 2. I went to turnkey tire service to inquire about the continental tires. It was at that time that he showed me how to read the dot number on the tire. We learned at that time that the tire were manufactured in april 2005 and was sold in 2013. I contact continental tire and offered them the opportunity to come examined the tires that i had left and they declined. They did want me to send them the remaining 2 tires that i had but i didn't think i should get rid of the only two tires that link me and these tires to continental tire. Can you please let me know what i can or should do at this point. When i went into colony tire, they had to order those tires. I do not know where they ordered them from but it took a few days to get in.

The contact owns a 2006 ford 350 super duty. The contact stated he was driving on the interstate at about 65 mph. He stated that when he approached where the bridge hits the highway, which was just a little pavement, he was unable to control the vehicle due to it's accelerating. The driver states he kept easing the brakes down to slow his truck down. The failure mileage was 72,000 and the current mileage was 73,566. The vin was not available.

When pulling a travel trailer with my 2006 f350 sdford on cruise control at hwy speeds (70 mph) on a hill the truck will lose speed to 65-66 mph the torque converter unlocks and the vehicle will accelerate to 74-76 mph still on the hill.cresting the hill it will return to 70 mph.ford says this operation meets design specs. And will do nothing to fix my truck.i get strange looks from drivers trying to pass and my vehicle accelerates 4-6 mph over the speed limit.100 failures is a guess.

Sand and small pebbles are caught in the front side windows trim or weather stripping. This can only be cleaned with the window down. The grit in the weather stripping scratches the window until it is difficult to see out the window when head lights or sun shines in certain directions. Ford has replaced the windows and weather stripping twice but this just starts the process of scratching over. I feel some type of fender extention is needed to stop the grit from being kicked up from the front tires. In the winter or on dirt roads the problem leads to cleaning the weather stripping daily or not using the windows. There is always a scratching sound as the windows go up and down

On 3 june, 2006, my daughter, while driving our 2006 ford pickup, met another vehicle on a narrow country road. The steep dropoff and nature of the road did not allow either driver to completely move over enough and the mirrors of the two trucks bumped. The mirror on the other truck, a chevrolet, broke away causing no injury to the driver and minimal damage to the vehicle.the mirror on my daughter's 2006 ford exploded sending shards of glass flying throughout the cab of the truck. My daughter required a trip to the emergency room, stitches, and follow up medical treatment. In addition to the flying glass, the mirror housing separated and one large section struck my daughter in the shoulder before coming to rest in the back seat of the extended cab truck while a smaller section of the housing landed in the truck's bed.both vehicles were traveling at about 30 mph and were slowing when they met. The chevrolet mirror detached with no injury and minimal damage. The ford mirror caused physical injury and over a $1000 in damages to the truck.there is obviously a vast difference in the design of the ford and chevy mirrors which caused this dangerous situation and harmed the ford's driver.pictures, medical records, and a statement were sent to ford but they refuse to acknowledge any problem with the design and refuse to make any comment on this situation. They have also refused to return the documents and pictures which i have submitted.we own2005 and 2006 ford trucks and are now afraid to drive them with the windows open for fear of injury from possible flying glass in the event of an accident.

The contact owns a 2006 ford f-350 sd. The contact stated that the driver's front rim was fractured. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who confirmed the failure. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 77,000.

I am the original owner of this 2006 ford f350 purchased dec. 2005. November 2010 i had a 20" oem ford wheel crack. Crack was 5" long running parallel with the outside rim edge, 1" in, and between the spokes.replaced with a used oem wheel. May 2012 i had another wheel crack which resulted in a blowout at 60mph. This crack ran 90 degrees from the rim edge to 1.25" under the bead resulting in air loss. Replaced with a used oem wheel and new oem 20" tire.aug.1 2012 a third wheel cracked exactly like the first resulting in rapid air loss and blowout on highway traveling 60mph. Crack is 6" long running parallel with the rim edge,1" in, and goes between the spokes.three of the original four ford oem 20" aluminum wheels have cracked on this vehicle. There have been no known stresses i am aware ofthat caused these failures. I feel ford speced a wheel that is underrated for the vehicle and it is a safety issue.

Dt*: the contact stated there was a problem with the design of the steel rims on the inside rear tires, that interfered with tire pressure checks and inflation of the tires, without removal of the outside tires. The service dealer and manufacturer were contacted.
