The past three years we have had our ford 350 superduty truck in the shop due to the "tow haul" light would come on.last year it had stalled on me while crossing intersection at a four way stop.it did not happen until approx. Three weeks ago, the truck has stalled several times while driving without warning.it took the local dealer a week to find out that it was the fuel injection control module wire harness.if there was a recall on the 2003-2004 why is ford not fixing our 2005 that is also stalling while driving it.and they could not really find the problem why the tow haul light was coming on often.ford company told the local ford service that they will not replace the parts free and the local ford service told us that they would cut $400 off of $1700.

Driving over a mountain pass in the snow, coming downhill at approximately 5% grade when the throttle became non-responsive.very soon after the truck died completely-no power steering and no power brakes in snowy conditions.i managed to get the truck to the side of the road but wasn't able to get more than 6" off the fog line due to the snow.i was very lucky that an accident did not occur because roadway conditions were not good and the situation could have had drastic consequences.i was also very lucky that my wife was following close behind me and we were able to 1) get cell phone service on the pass and 2) wait for the tow truck in the other vehicle.we ended up waiting on the side of the road for 2 hrs in the dark waiting for a tow truck with my wife and three daughters and no food.finally got the truck towed to the dealership on a sunday and waited for them to open today.they informed me that the ficm needed to be replaced but my truck was not covered under the recall (05v270000 electrical system wiring) even though the description matches what happened to me exactly!i have the wrong vin # so i am not covered even though the problem is exactly the same!this is a serious safety issue!losing power at 60 mph in a crew cab long box diesel pickup is not for the faint of heart!not to mention that some of our personal property was damaged because we could not get all of it into our explorer.ford needs to come to the plate before someone is seriously injured or killed!

Trailer and the truck stalled without warning.no check engine light and no hesitation.it simply died.without power brakes or steering, the truck was completely uncontrollable. Drivers behind me swerved to the should to avoid a collision.the dealer did not find a problem and did nothing to prevent this situation from occurring again.after the truck sat at the dealer for 2 days (over the weekend), it started for the technician on the following monday.the dealer informed me that nhtsa #05v270000 does not apply to my truck, although this campaign number describes the exact situation that occurred with my truck.the truck and trailer combined weigh approximately 19,000 lbs. 19,000 lbs traveling at 65 mph and suddenly loosing brakes and steering is a death waiting to happen.please help before an innocent motorist(s) get killed by this truck.

I have a 2005 ford f-350 with approximately 50,000 miles on it. Over the past 4 months my truck has been not starting after it has been driven and occasionally stalling while being driven. I have had the cam sensor, crank sensor, & fuel sending unit all replaced to no avail.i brought it to the ford dealer and they were unable to "reproduce the not starting", told me to change all filters to ford brand and change the oil. After spending $350 on just filters the truck is still broken, i can not drive it.there is a campaign for this problem #05v270000, unfortunately ford says they can not fix my vehicle because my vin# was not included.i had a friend look at my truck who has a computer to look up the codes, while the truck is plugged in.he reproduced the not starting while the computer was plugged in and the code came up for the ficm which is what the recall from nhtsa is for.i went to the dealer and was told basically to bad. The truck will not start after being driven on a daily basis. Because of the safety concerns with the truck leaving me stranded or even worse stalling while i drive it and causing an accident, i do not drive the truck. Ford should be responsible for fixing these problems.

Approximately 16,000 miles prior to this incident (96,450) the vehicle had a lack of towing power.i took it to ford, and they told me that it was the egr cooler and oil cooler.the service manager advised me that this happens to every 6.0 liter diesel.he stated they updated the coolers to fix the problem (pretty much admitting that they did not build it right).i searched online and found this to be true, but for some reason there is no recall.$4,730.78 later, my vehicle was fixed.although i do tow with the vehicle (that's what its made for), i baby the vehicle.i do oil changes every 3000 (recommended at 5000) and change the fuel filter 2 times a year (recommended every 12,000).three years later and only 16,000 miles later (113,239) the vehicle again had a lack of power.i took it to ford again, and they told me it was the egr cooler, oil cooler, and head gaskets.i told the service manager that i just had the egr cooler and oil cooler replaced, but it was out of the repair warranty.he said all of thesetrucks have these problems.$7,937 (discounted) and two weeks later i received my vehicle back.my family has used ford diesel trucks for years and normally get 250,000 out of them before any major repairs.ford does not stand behind their product like they used to.i will never buy another ford.

The head bolts have a known defect, which ford filed a class action suit against the engine manufacture novastar for and won.this defect/weakness can cause the bolts to fail/break causing many components to become damaged.this can potentially cause an accident and/or injury to the vehicles occupants.i believe this issue needs to be addressed as a recall because according to my research all of the 6.0 diesel engines in this year/model are affected.

Coming home from a camping trip with a 5th wheel camper & truck just stopped working.come to find out the stc fitting on high pressure oil pump shot apart & cracked rear timing cover.after being stuck on the highway for over 8 hours, stranded at the campground for 4 more days & $3000 to get it fixed, we then finding out that this is a common problem with this engine.this stc fitting has since been changed by the manufacturer so that it is one piece now, however there has not been a recall on it.we have several ford vehicles and it is very upsetting to go through all of this when a simple recall could have avoided it.thank you for your attention to resolving this matter & helping us get a refund for the $3000.

The public really needs to be educated regarding the fact that ford motor company is covering up one of the largest problems in their automobile history regarding their hundreds of thousands of failed 2003 thru 2007 super duty 6.0 diesel pickups. If you could be so kind please help me and hundreds of thousands of other owners of these failed vehicles. Please forward this email to your supervisors. I am currently re-pursuing legal action along with media coverage to expose this terrible situation with these ford vehicles that is ruining family finances while trying to keep these vehicles constantly repaired. Many owners including myself our being forced to build much less than safe lifts to remove the cabs from these trucks to repair the constantly failing engine components. I tried to include these digital pictures clearly indicating the deadly cab lifts we our forced to try and build because of the dealer costs. Please indicate how i can upload these pictures for you review. For 47 years i thought ford stood for first on race day. Wow, was i completely wrong! in the past 9 months i have spent over $15,000 out of my pocket and bank loans just trying to keep my ford vehicle repaired due to their horrible engineering abilities. My warranty was 28 days out of warranty and 80,000 miles under in warranty. They refused to help me in any way, shape or form. I represented myself in two court cases against them and lost. When, not if, i can afford an attorney, ford will finally be exposed to their cover ups from the public! ford: fix or repair daily!!

I have a 2005 f350 4x4 drw 6.0 diesel with 70,000 miles, the truck was started one morning and white smoke started coming from the exhaust and the truck had no power, there was no warning and the dealer says its the egr cooler and recommends that the head gaskets get done also for a total of $4800.00. I have researched this problem and the international built motor has this problem alot but i have not seen any recall on this why??? for the cost of this type of truck it should last longer than 70,000 miles and if i would have been driving this vehicle what would of happened??? also per the dealer ford knows this problem exist but yet nothing has been done to protect the consumer.

I parked my 05 ford f-350 in my driveway. Came back 5 minutes later and it was engulfed in flames.

I bought my truck in february 2005 w/ less than 150 miles.my first major complaint with the truck is the awlful smell (exhaust) that enters that cabin when the truck is running.this is something that has been an ongoing problem. It has never had that "new" truck smell.the second major complaint with the truck, is the dead spot in the accelorator pedal.if you need to speed up quickly, it can't be done.you hit a dead spot in the accelorator where you have absolutely no power!if i needed to speed up to pass someone, etc., i can't do it.i am frustrated with my truck and i do not enjoy driving it.

Dealership and ford is aware of problem for over a year.while driving on winter (icy) roads, truck began bucking and broke traction sending truck out of control.luckily i was able to drive out of it without contacting the vehicle passing me or roadside obstructions.

The cooler hose and cap were replaced.updated 03/30/11

I have had my 2005 f-350 diesel towed to the dealer three times now for stalling and not starting back up.each instance they show loss of oil pressure and blame me for not changing the oil every 3000 miles (recommended by ford every 5000 - 7000 miles) and getting bad gas.they replaced 4 cylinders the first time, 2 cylinders plus a fuel cup the second and they are now working on the third.

July 1, 2006 at approximately 10:30 am, i was traveling on i-81 at 65 mph towing a 9,000 lb. Trailer and the truck stalled without warning.no check engine light and no hesitation.it simply died.without power brakes or steering, the truck was completely uncontrollable. Luckily, we were on a section of highway with wide shoulders and light traffic.the truck died so suddenly that i couldn't even pull to the shoulder.the truck came to a complete stop in the left lane and would not restart.

2005 ford f-350 super duty truck with a defect in the ford 6.0 liter diesel engine**ccthe consumer stated while towing a 10,000 pound fifth wheel trailer up a steep grade, nearing the top of an 8800-foot summit, he experienced a sudden, total and complete engine failure. It was explained to the consumer by a ford technician that the diesel engine uses both electric impulses and oil pressure to open the injectors. The oil system for the injectors is separate from the main lubrication system in the engine and runs at about 3000 psi. There is some internal plumbing for the oil system that has rubber connecting hoses and seals that are prone to leaks, but in the consumers case total failure. As soon as the oil pressure is insufficient to open the injectors, the engine just stops. The consumer stated on a second trip, one of the turbo hoses blew off.

First time truck quit on north i-25, we were driving and the truck just quit, would not recrank, stranded on the side of the road for 8 hours, finally a tow truck towed us 80 miles to the nearest ford dealership, we paid a towing bill of $250 also 2 days in the hotel.

Vehicle has engine failure the repair has been attempted four times and vehicle continues in its same stage..

I have 2005 ford f350 6.0l diesel. Truck stalls on the road and will not restart. I had truck towed to feduke ford 3 times. Will not fix because they can't duplicate problem. Almost had serious crash when stalled, tractor trailer almost took me and family out. Ford had recall for this defect. Recall#-05s34.nhtsa#-05v270000i called ford and they told me my vin# was not included in recall,i told them my truck has same issue as recall. I need help.

I've had my 05 'f-350 diesel in the shop for more than a total of 10 weeks blown head gaskets blown heads and transmission problems which no one can seem to fix correctly i personally think for should have a recall on these trucks.

2nd time was white smoke coming out exhaust, then it overheated and oil was mixed with antifreeze, stranded for 5 hours, towed 18 miles to nearest ford dealership, cost us 4 days in a hotel.

Pickup won't run smoothly.

Turbo pipe blew off going uphill towing a horse in trailer, lost most of my power, speed dropped to 40 mph with trucks bearing down.put clamp back on did it again 50 miles later.dealership told me rust formedinside turbo if i did not drive it hard or correctly.i did'nt think i bought a truck with instructions how to rive it !

I have a 2005 ford 350 superduty 6.0 diesel truck. I pull a large 5th wheel unit. It is within the weight range indicated by ford. I have installed a thermocouple gauge to monitor the engine exhaust temperature. I was told by ford dealer that the normal exhaust gas temperature(egt) should be between 750 and 900 while pulling the unit. Under a nominal hill climb, i noted the egt never got below 1000, even when the transmission shifted to a lower gear. It was hard keeping the egt under 1400. I had to travel at 55 mph and in 4th gear to maintain the 1000 degree temperature boost was between 24 and 28 psi. Near the top of a climb, the turbo hose blew. The dealer said it was a dirty gate valve or dirt in the vanes of the turbo. During the vacation they replaced the gate valve and the turbo.after vacation and without the 5th wheel attached, i noted the egt, under normal street driving, runs at 800 to 1000 degrees. If this is an indication of the engine/turbo design, this engine is doomed to fail. I believe ford should have known these issues before they sold these trucks. I know the turbo will fail again.if there is recourse, i would like to know.

Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6)on 3/26/10 my 2005 ford f350 6.0 diesel started smoking from the exhaust while hauling horses to a show. I was approx. 70 miles from home. Had the truck towed into my local ford dealer to find out that the egr valve went bad and also overheated my turbo. My truck has 58,000 miles and i purchased the esp 100,000 warranty however, they said my warranty expired on 3/21/10. The bill was $3900. And ford is not covering it. Now i come to find out that this has been a huge issue for ford & the repairs don't seem to hold either as most people have had this reoccur 2 or more times. This was not a problem i could have prevented in any way but a problem with the engine itself. What can i do & is there a recall? [xxx]

2005 ford f350 6.0 diesel - strong exhaust type odor coming through the vents when either the air, heat, or defrost is on and the truck isn't moving. I read hundreds of internet posts regarding this problem and so far have yet to see anyone get the problem resolved, including myself. I'm fearful that this odor is a sever safety hazard.

Heavy diesel exhaust odor enter interior/passenger compartment through ventalation system.this occurs everytime we use the truck and it continues no matter if the heater is on or windows rolled up or down, though strong odor when heater is one.ford looked at truck on 2/4; said they reprogramed pcm.brought the truck in again on 3/2 and dealer service says nothing is wrong. Truck doesn't even have 3000 miles yet.

2005 ford super duty f-350 6.0 diesel truck. Heavy exhaust smell enters the interior/passenger compartment through ventelation system. This symptom occurs on a daily basis and continues no matter if heater is on or windows rolled up or down. Ford motor co has declined to repair symptom.

When vehicle is not moving and the a/c,heater or defrost is on there is a very strong smell of exhaust coming thru the vents often times enough to make a person light headed and dizzy. I spoke to my local ford dealer and they said there is nothing they can do.

I rented a truck from u-haul in elk grove, ca at 4:50pm on 8/28/08. Once the vehicle was above 45mph it started to shake violently and once it was dark, the tail lights on the right side were shown to be non-functioning. The representative did not do a vehicle inspection with me, in fact, he took off before i even pulled out of the drive-way. I called the repair service because i felt the vehicle was unsafe and was told by the mechanic they sent out that the rear end was coming apart and that the power brake system had no power when i came to a complete stop. I informed u-haul and they insisted that i still drive the vehicle back to their facility. I refused, citing that it was unsafe and illegal to drive a vehicle without the working tail lights. They then charged my credit card for the rental and mileage even though the vehicle still sat in my drive-way without them knowing what that mileage would be.

My 2005 ford f350 with the 6.0 litre diesel broke down due to significant leakage in the high pressure oil system. When being repaired, the technician recommended that standpipes and orings be replaced with upgraded parts. This was very costly and could have caused the vehicle to stall and created a dangerous situation.

The contact owns a 2005 ford f-350 super duty. While driving approximately 50 mph the contact attempted to accelerate further but the vehicle would not accelerate. The failure recurred whenever the contact attempted to accelerate beyond 50 mph.the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the contact was told the failure was due to the diesel fuel tank being delaminated.the vehicle was not repaired.the failure and current mileages were 44,000.

Engine filters get clogged up and cause the truck to run erratically and stall, caused from debris from a faulty fuel tank.

I own a 2005 f350 4x4 crew cab power stroke diesel truck. I had the truck in for some warranty work just before it reached over 100.00 miles. I had to have injectors replaced. I later found out that the fuel tank was delaminating. Silver particle and rust is getting into the injecters and clogging filters. I been told that ford is not covering this problem at all. The truck now has 109,000 miles and i no longer have a warranty on the injector. They never told me till after the warranty was up that the fuel tanks where failing. Now from what i can tell everyone is having problems with there fuel tanks. Ford has claimed that it is the caused from bio-fuels but i have never put a drop of bio-fuel in my truck before. I also been told that if you buy a new tank it will have the same problem. My truck will not run all the time and dies on meoften.i have been changing filters and now the injectors are acting as if they are damaged. Can you please help?rick

My vehicle has been to the ford service dept. Serveral times this year for a problem with my acelerator. If i decelerate or stop and go to giveit gas again the pedal pushes down but the vehicle will not accelerate.

Fuel tank lining is peeling off causing failure to injectors/ pump and filters.causes power loss in traffic which is unsafe.this has happened to me three times since august 2010 in interstate traffic.ford claims bio-diesel is to blame, bio-diesel makers blame ford.personally this has cost me $2600 since aug 2010.(replaced filters twice and 5 fuel injectors)truck is not running at this time due to the same problem.estimated cost to repair $1200 minimum if injectors are okay.this is a problem that ford is well aware of and should be sendingnotices to affected customers.owners of these trucks have no way of knowing what percentage ofbio-diesel or if any bio-diesel is in the fuel since it is not marked on the pumps.fords solution is for the owner to buy a new fuel tank that is compatiblewith 5% bio-diesel.

Sudden loss engine shut down without warning collision averted. Ford f-30 2005,a failed ficm. Had already replaced previously 8 month earlier. Part must be defective.

Vehicle had just returned home after being driven a considerable distance.vehicle shut off for a few minutes when fire started under the hood and moved into cab.insurance company hired a fire origin and cause analyst and it was determined that fire was caused when fuel leaked from the banjo fitting on the fuel filter onto the hot surface of the engine. The banjo fitting on the lower portion of the fuel filter was covered with a heavy layer of fuel varnish.the bolt in the banjo fitting was checked and found to be extremely loose. This occurred on 6.0l diesel engine.there looks to have been similar problem on gasoline engines which had a recall date of 6/7/05 and nhtsa id number of 05v266000.would like to know if ford hasseen problem on diesel engines?

De-lamination of aluminum coating in fuel tank. This sends silver particles into the fuel filter clogging said filter causing the vehicle to stall out or stop completely. Ford knows there is a problem but refuses to do anything. The vehicle has 72,000 miles. I will have to spend over $1,500 to get the problem fixed. The new tank is $1,200 and is on national back order. No telling when it will come in. My truck now sits waiting. I have done lots of research on this and i am not the only one with this problem. The dealer told me he has replaced 200 or more tanks already. I'm baffled as to why nothing has been done about this.

The failure of diesel fuel injectors in the '05 fordf-350 super duty trucks with the power stroke 6.0l diesel engine. Vehicle had approx. 14,800 miles on it at the time of the incident.did not lead to an accident, i feel that it could in another case. There were no warnings that this was going to happen and occurred suddenly without warning.i was driving into town(about 17 miles). On the interstate highway traveling at approximately 75 mph. My vehicle lost most of it's power and began to jerk and sputter as i pulled to the side of the road. Shut vehicle off, did a basic check of the vehicles components and then restarted . Started and ran fine. I began to merge into traffic only to loose significant power and was forcedto return to the side of the road.i was seriously slowing the oncoming traffic.ibegan to limp my truck to the nearest exit ramp. Exited the interstate, my truck died and left me stranded, not able to restart. Vehicle towed to the dealership for repair. At the repair shop, the #1 cylinder injector was determined to have failed and was replaced with a new or rebuilt part. (this is not specified by ford.) i did/do not have access to the failed part(s). Approx. 3 weeks after this incident, my truck experienced the same failure (an injector on cylinder #7) with similar results. Ford is well aware of this problem and considers it an "acceptable" design flaw and puts the blame on poor fuel (all other diesel engines will run on fuel station grade fuel, which is only to be expected.). I know that many others have experienced this problem in the 2003 to the 2006 powerstroke 6.0l engines. It is a very common problem. In the case of two injectors failing at once, the vehicle would be inoperable with failed braking, steering and power loss. If one injector fails, the vehicle could have erratic power surges and partial or full loss of power with failed or reduced braking and steering.at highway speed, and with no warning this could spell disaster.

Rough running, heavy smoke from exhaust, quit while on highway, would not restart.garage found raw fuel in #1 cylinder, removed fuel, replaced #1 injector - o-ring seal was defective (the #1 and #2 injectors were also replace at 2983 miles on 10/20/04).

I am uncomfortable with the dependability and safety of this 2005 ford f350 6.0 diesel truck. The high pressure oil lines, valves, pump, coupler and injector ends where the high pressure oil connect are failing in a large number of these 6.0 diesel engines. Mine has had the valve and coupler replaced in seperate events. Both repairs cost over $1000.00. Ford needs to be forced intodesigning a fix for these oil systems and recall them them. When any component of this high pressure oil system fail the engine quits running and the driver and occupents are sitting ducks. I wonder how many injuries or deaths have been related to these failures. No one should pay in excess of $40.000.00 for a truck and have to spend thousands ot dollars in repairs just after 100,000 miles and still have to worry about when and where the next failure will happen. I dont know if you can do anything for me but if i can help you in any way to get ford to do the right thing, let me know. Thanks

2005 ford f350 fuel tank lining peeled clogging total fuel system caused truck to breakdown and loose powersteering at high speed. Ford claims there is nothing wrong with gas tank but there has been thousands of the same incident.

(1) truck would not start(2) potential of traveling and fuel pump stops providing fuel to motor; potential to loose control of vechicle(3) high pressure (r&r ipr sensor, flex pipe an dconnector) was replaced

Vehicle has been difficult to start, running rough and bucks and often stalls while driving.vehicle was recently taken to ford certified service department for forementioned issue, and was told the fuel tank liner has delaminated and released particles causing damage to the fuel pump, eight injectors, and clogged all filters. Cost of repairs are $5600.00. Service dept. Advised there is no recall for this issue even though this is a common problem with many of these trucks. I have also searched many discussion forums and found there are many people who are having same issues some who have replaced 3 or 4 tanks and other fuel related parts in the same type vehicles.

The inter liner of the fuel tank disintegrated causing the fuel to contaminate the fuel injectors and the fuel pump.the local ford dealer recommended that the fuel tank, the fuel pump and all the fuel injectors be replaced. Total cost between $5000 and $6000 dollars. Gave the approval on may 3rd 2011. As of july 5th still waiting on the new fuel tank. Ford has had so many of these fuel tanks fail that there is a national waiting list for the replacement tanks. Adding insult to injury, this is a work truck. Everyday it's unavailable cost the company $100.00 to $150.00 a day. Add that into the repair and now it's costing us 10k to 12k. At this time, we still have no answer from our ford dealer as to when we can expect the new tank.at the very least, i think ford should be responsible for the repair.

Rear brake drum failure- backer plate of my ford f350 has corroded to the extent that the rear brake shoe retainer pins fell inwardsand the back brake shoe twisted around grinding in the rear drum.upon hearing a noise slowed and the rear wheel locked and spun the truck sideways on the road.this is a long wheel base,k crewcab pickup with an 8ft box. The disc rotor cover has also rusted through leaving a hole allowing small stones to jam between the rotor and brakes causing the vehicle to pull (ecentually start to brake on one wheel - problematic especially when braking on wet or icy roads.

Rear brake backing plate rusted out causing the parking brakes to lock up on left side . Vehicle veered off road.

1.trying to shift truck into 4x4 low2.the truck will not shift into 4x4 low.there is a "shift on the fly" knob on the dash and you can shift truck into 4x4 high, or 4x4 low.it will shift into 4x4 high but not 4x4 low.3. I have taken the truck into the dealership to address the problem.they verified the problem but could not fix.

2005, f350 torque converter/shift transmission snap ringfailed. Truck has been at dealer for seven days, and ford zone representative says there is no silutionfor the defective snap ring. Will not give any repair date.

2005 ford f350 experienced solenoid transmission problems. *mr the solenoid transmission problem occurred 50 days after the purchase of the vehicle.the brake booster failed and the high pressure engine oil pump had broken down. *sc

Dt: the contact stated the vehicle stalledintermittently. The first time the vehicle stalled it immediately restarted. The second time the vehicle stalled itwas towed to the dealership. During both incidents the vehicle was traveling at 70 mph. The dealership replaced the fuel system injectors and modules. After the replacements the engine blew out.additionally, the dealer diagnosed a problem with the transmission at 8,000 miles, and repairs were made. Based on all the problems with this vehicle,it has been at the dealership for three months.

I've had my 05 'f-350 diesel in the shop for more than a total of 10 weeks blown head gaskets blown heads and transmission problems which no one can seem to fix correctly i personally think for should have a recall on these trucks.

About a mile after i turned off of hwy 101 onto hwy 166 going east while hauling my 32' toyhauler with my 2005 ford f350 superduty 4x4 drw crew cab truck when smoke started billowing out the rear of my truck, a friend that was following me thought my truck was on fire as fluid sprinkled on his windshield. I was not able to safely pull over for a couple of miles. When i stopped i found that my transmission fluid had spewed out onto the tail pipe of the truck that caused the smoke and all over the highway. I had the truck and trailer towed to santa maria ford and had to wait a day for them to open. When they inspected the transmission, the mechanic told me that the problem was a faulty retainer (snap) ring that came off (unseated) the low/reverse clutch that caused the crack in the transmission case. The mechanic told me there was a ford recall on this problem a few years earlier. He did not want me to mention that he told me anything to anyone at the ford dealership, because he was afraid of losing his job. I left the truck at the dealer because they said it needed a rebuilt transmission. When i returned home i researched the problem and found ford recall 05b27 that was exactly the problem that had occurred. The recall stated that you had to have a snowplow package installed on the truck to receive the recall. This truck did not have the snowplow package. But, it did have the exact transmission with the faulty snap ring that the trucks with the snowplow package had. It should not matter if my truck had a snowplow package or not. Ford knew that my truck had the faulty part installed in the transmission and never sent me a recall. I could have had an accident or may have caused one, due to this (ford motor company known) faulty part cracking the transmission case and spewing transmission fluid all over the road. Hwy 166 is a very winding road in areas and who knows if an accident may have happened due to the excess slippery fluid all over the road. My cost $4441.00.

08/2007 at 27,127 miles ford f350 superduty was taken in to dealer for repair due to the following:hesitation upon acceleration and transmission catching and loud bang, like it is jerking into gear.dealer repaired under warranty.08/2008 at 36,800 miles (just out of warranty) taken in again for same problem and dealer want to charge us to replace transmission.the vehicle has never been used to pull trailers or heavy equipment so there is no reason for the transmission to be failing with so little mileage.

Dt: the contact stated while making a right hand turn the vehicle hesitated.the transmission will catch, and there is a loud bang , and then the vehicle will lunge forward.when the vehicle is in reverse the transmission hesitates as well.it seems as though there may be something broken in the transmission or in the rear suspension.the dealership where the vehicle was purchased referred the contact to a local dealer to have the vehicle inspected.the vehicle was not inspected to determine the exact cause of the problem.the consumer had difficulty placing the vehicle into park. Updated 11/16/105.

The contact owns a 2005 ford f-350 superduty.when the vehicle was placed into reverse, it would not back up.the vehicle was driven to the dealer and they stated that the reverse clutch retainer ring, the reverse piston retainer ring, the clutch housing, and the transmission case needed to be replaced.the failure mileage was 63,726.

My 2005 ford 350 4x4cracked the trans case because or the low/reverse snap ring came loose & broke the trans case at 55000 mi.talked to ford about this & they said there is nothing they could do &there has not been a problem with this, but i found out that they have had a problem & had a recall on this (recall #05b27). Ford dealer said that this would cost me $4622.00. They fixed this problem i think in the 2006 models therefore they knew they had a problem. My warranty ran out on this truck about 1 month ago.

I have a ford f350 king ranch 2005 and it wobbles violently after hitting a bump or uneven patch. It does it above 40 mph. Dealer had me purchase a stabilizer and they put it on- it helped but didn't solve it. I just drive the truck when i need. I took it in 6 months later and they said they must investigate by deduction. They wanted to charge me to first do a balance, then a wheel alignment. I told them no- it should be a recall. My fear is that the violent wobble will lead to other problems. Help.

The contact owns a 2005 ford f-350. The contact stated while driving at 15 mph, the brake light failed to illuminate whenever the brakes were engaged. Also, the tbc warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the connector to the break light needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unavailable and the current mileage was 140,000.

I was backing loaded trailer down incline toward pond; "tow command" trailer brake controller did not work properly and the 2005 f-350 super duty truck, with wheels locked, was dragged backward toward the edge of the pond by weight of the trailer and its load; trailer and truck stopped before reaching edge of pond.this has occurred at other times, indicating that brake controller does not provide adequate braking in reverse at low speeds.the problem was reported to the selling dealer, who said their checks indicate the controller is working according to ford specifications at the date of manufacturer in september, 2004, though a new version of the controller apparently has been installed on later models, beginning around march of 2006.the dealer and ford customer service representatives have thus far refused to replace the controller with the updated version and maintain there is not adequate proof that the controller does not work properly.

Dt:contact stated the brakes ontrailer failed due to the tow command system. The dealer attempted to repair, but the vehicle's tow command system didnot have proper voltage for the trailer brakes to work. Updated 1/11/2006.

Dt: the consumer owns a 2005 ford f350 super duty dually with the brake controller built in the dashboard. When applying brakes at 10 mph or under, there is not enough voltage to activate the brake pump actuator, resulting in no trailer brakes at this speed.the brake controller override does not function at this level as well.the consumer took the truckto dealer, who verified this issue, but they said this was the way it was made and was not a problem.no corrections or repairs were doneat this time.the dealercontacted ford, and they confirmed what the dealer said.

Trailer brake controller only allows minimal electric current to trailer under 15 mph.i am told, dot knows of this problem in ford f 350 trucks mfrd. Prior to 03/05.covered by ford bulletin.ford refuses to update or repair.not enough brakes under 15 mph to stop trailer or to test for trailer brakes.

I have a 2005 ford f350 4 wdr, super duty with v10, 4 sp. Auto, vin no. [xxx].i experienced sudden vehicle acceleration, ie. From a stopped position with vehicle in drive and foot on brake the vehicle, lunged forward, heavy braking would not stop vehicle it only caused acceleration.only impact with mail box and snow bank stopped vehicle.i compared what had just happened with pressing on the accelerator and brake at the same time and this was different and did not result in loss of control.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

The contact owns a ford 2005 f-350 sd. The contact stated that the vehicle would make a loud squeaking noise whenever the brakes were applied, and she would also smell a burning odor. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the contact was informed that a brake caliper needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufactuer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileages were 18,413 and the current mileage was 38,156.

I was slowing down to a stop light when my driverside rear tire was smoking profusely. I stopped to check the problem out and the rear brake was locked up. I spoke to workers at the ford dealership and they told me this is a normal occurrence with this particular model truck. I replaced the driverside rear caliper and went on my way. Two weeks later the same thing happened to the passenger side rear caliper. The dealers i have spoken to once again said this is a normal occurrence and that you only get about a year out of the calipers. At over $250 a caliper this is very expensive. I don't tow with my vehicle or abuse it in any way. I am strict with maintaining it.

The contact owns a 2005 ford f-350 sd. The contact stated the bolt on the master cylinder for the brakes sheared off. While driving 5 mph while the brake was being depressed the brake extended to the floor causing the vehicle to be stopped with the emergency brake. The contact inspected the brake and noticed the bolt from the master cylinder broke. The dealer was notified and stated they were aware of the failure. The manufacturer was notified and stated they were not aware of the failure and offered no assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 190,000.

Dt*: the contact stated the engine stalled suddenly without warning a total of four times.the vehicle was towed on each incident.the dealership replaced a module on the wiring harness and various other unknown parts, but the problem still persists.on one occasion while attempting to depress the brake, the pedal would not depress.after placing the vehicle in neutral, the brakes worked properly.two months ago the shock on the passenger side fractured.a welding shop determined the problem was a bad weld joint.

I have a 2005 ford f350 super duty pickup truck and experiencing a problem with the antilock brakes locking up.problemoriginally began as an intermittent problem in early 2006 occurring about once a month but would only presentsymptoms once per occurrence.finally in december 2006 problem occurred multiple times and vehicle was taken to united ford.unfortunately united ford was not able to duplicate the problem.no error codes pertaining to the antilock brake system were being recorded by the vehicle.about two weeks ago while on a 900 mile trip the brakes continually locked up.upon return to tulsa on january 30th i immediately took the vehicle to united ford as the problem continued on a frequent basis.dealership was finally able to observe the problem and agreed the antilock brakes were in fact malfunctioning.after inspecting the brake system, checking technical bulletins and talking with ford motor company the dealership was instructed to make sure all of all the ground connections on the antilock brake system were clean and secure.vehicle was returned to me by the dealership on february 2nd.united ford stated that ford motor company claims there have been no other reports of antilock brake failure reported on this type of vehicle.yesterday (february 8th) after driving the vehicle for about five days the problem occurred again.vehicle was immediately taken to united ford in tulsa, ok. For the third time in the past several months for this problem.at this point ford still does not know what is causing the brakes to lockup.this problem is a concern to me since it has the potential to cause the driver of the vehicle to loose control of the vehicle and potential for a serious accident, injury and/or death.

Dt:the vehicle is a 2005 ford f350.the brakes failed multiple times.once when the consumer was driving she went to slow down at a traffic light and the vehicle would not stop.the consumer said that the only way she could keep from hitting another vehicle was to honk the horn. The vehicle has been in the dealership 10 times, and the dealershipreplaced the master cylinder 3 times.the consumer stated that since she has owned the vehicle it has been in the repair shop at least 25 days. The dealership has tried to assist her.she felt that there was some kind of problem with the electrical system.the problems occurred off and on.when she contacted the manufacturer, they gave her a hard time.they have not helped her at all.they told the dealer that they would not buy back the vehicle.the consumer used the vehicle for business, andbecause of the brake problemit has caused her to lose a lot of business.she keptleaving the vehicle at the dealer, and could not use it for days at a time.also, there wereother problems with the vehicle.

Dt: the contact states the brakes will not stop the vehicle whenhaulinga trailer. He took the vehicle to ford dealership to have the brakes inspected. There was not enough voltage going to the brakes to make the vehicle stop. The vehicle neededa new brain box with eight volts instead of three and one half volts. The repairs will be made at the contact'sexpense. The manufacturer was contacted and offered no assistance.

The brake failed to engage while coming down an inclineat 5 mph on a snow surface road with a trailer attached to the truck. Thiscaused the truck to run into the trailer while coming down the incline. Dealer was notified.

Dt:2005 ford f350.the consumer stated the anti-lock brake system light continued to come on.when this happened, the brakes did not work.the consumer had to pull a trailer with this vehicle.the vehicle has been taken into the dealership ten times for this.the dealership changed a sensor and then it failed again.the consumer has been talking to ford motor company. A vehicle stopped in front of the consumer and he swerved causing deep ruts in the yard.

2005 f350 with the tow command option. No trailer brakes below 20 mph. Ford has since updated their control unit to a march version which has address this problem. Ford refuses to up date the early trucks unless the owner pays for the new control unit and installation. This is clearly a safety issue. I barely avoided an accident this past summer, while pulling my 5th wheel trailer. I needed to make an emergency stop while in traffic and did not have trailer brakes.

05 and 06 ford f350 ambulance brake caliber pistons break or crack and hold piston out making brakes unable to fully release, both our 05 have have done it one on all four wheel and the other just the fronts so far and now our 06 has the fronts on both sides tolal of three of the four pistons broke

Repeated brake caliper problems. Brake pads lock in on position while caliper releases. Result is that one brake pad in a set will quickly become worn while other pad is like new. Failure results when locked pad is undetected, then caliper, rotor and brake line damage result. This has occurred on 3 seperate instances and on seperate wheels. Ford has paid for one rear caliper, front rotors.this problem began on or before 16,000 miles. Vehicle has been serviced and repaired at ford garages only. This vehicle is not a severe duty truck, has a tow haul package. Further: immediately, after one repair abs lite came on and brakes went to floor. Abs stayed on for 10 minutes and then when brakes were pumped they went out and brake returned. Immediate thought was that abs malfunction was due to brake repair and correct and that it was a temporary problem. Front brake pads did however malfuction within 400 miles of this incident. From the beginning this truck has had an occasional spongey brake problem. Incident date is the last date noted. First date occurred 02/30/07. Incident date of this report reflects last to date incident.

I purchased a 2005 ford f-350 super duty truck in july of 2005. On july 4 of this year i started to experience problems with the brakes hanging, causing the brakes to overheat and smell, also causing undo strain on the drive line on the truck. The problem has occurred several times and have returned to the dealer to have it fixed every time,(only to have it come back later on), one time at a dealer when i was out of state. That dealer stated that the ford f250 next to mine in the shop had the same problem. My dealer has been in contact with ford motor company about this, as i have been to, without satisfaction on what ford is going to do. I feel this problem is now a safety issue.

Dt:the vehicle is a 2005 ford f350.the brakes failed multiple times.once when the consumer was driving she went to slow down at a traffic light and the vehicle would not stop.the consumer said that the only way she could keep from hitting another vehicle was to honk the horn. While vehicle was parked in my driveway, level ground, pushed on brake pedal to put vehicle in gear. Brake pedal felt spongy, pushed on it again, bang, right to the floor. There the pedal stuck, up against the floorboard. Upon investigation, found that the portion of the master cylinder that the plunger bolts onto, broke away. The plunger bolts to the master cylinder in two places. Both bolt holes broke away from the casting. The casting looks faulty, no fresh break look to it at all. The vehicle has 43000 miles on it. Brakes have not been done yet, still roughly 50% pad wear. More of a daily driver unit, than a heavy puller. I'm just glad that i wasn't driving down the highway or pulling my holiday trailer, when this occured. Who knows what would have happened! i feel this is a major safety issue. Is it a rare case or are there other faulty master cylinders out there. Someone better look into this before there are accidents or even casulties.

2005 ford f350 experienced solenoid transmission problems. *mr the solenoid transmission problem occurred 50 days after the purchase of the vehicle.the brake booster failed and the high pressure engine oil pump had broken down. *sc

The contact owns a 2005 ford f350 sd.while driving approximately 40 mph over a road bump, the front end of the vehicle began pull to the left abnormally. The failure recurred three times. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer sent a letter to notify the owner's to inspect the tire tread and air pressure to prevent the pulling of the vehicle and steering wheel vibration. The manufacturer was made aware of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 50.

I own a 2005 ford f350, this truck starts to shimmy and shake when you go over a small bump in the road, it is severe enough to cause you to loose control of the vehicle. I have avoided a couple of accidents by driving off the road which is not much fun. After the shaking starts you have to get the truck slowed down as fast as possible without causing a crash. I live in snow country and try to slow a truck down on snow packed roads and not cause an accident. I've been lucky so far. I've had the truck looked at and i've replaced parts and tires trying to get it to go away, but nothing helps. They just tell me to live with it. I would like to see if there is something that can and will be done. Well i would hope that the people who claim there is nothing wrong with these trucks are driving them and they can see for themselves what's going on here. There are to many people who own these trucks to not look into these claims. I'll gladly let you all drive with me and check out the claims and see that there is a problem.this has happened many times, it's not getting any better. After thousands of dollars and no better service, i give up.

Steering wheel shimmy/oscillation (back and forth motion), immediately following front or rear wheel impacts (pavement joints, frost heaves, rough roads, etc). Near loss of control. Must pull off of the road to slow the vehicle to stop shimmy.

While driving at highway speed (65-70 mph)i hit a pothole or bump the whole front end of the truck (2005 ford f-350) started to shake violently.i had to slow down to 50 mph where the shaking stopped.i was almost rear ended by a semi because of my sudden deceleration.this has happened 4 times.

Driving st highway speed (50-55mph) i ran over three small bumps in succession, the steering wheel went into a violent side to side shaking and i experienced a severe and violent shaking of the entire front end of the truck. I managed to slow the truck and pull to the shoulder of the divided highway. I got outand inspected the truck to see if there was any damage. I could see none so i drove carefully back on to the highway and the truck seemed to drive ok from that point on. I took the truck to a front end alignment shop and had the front end and suspension checked. They said it all looked good, but after that about a month later i had the same thing happen again on an interstate highway. Same deal, i hit a succession of small bumps , then all hell broke loose, violent shaking and oscillation of the steering wheel. I was forced to pull over to the berm in heavy traffic and had to pull back out into fast moving traffic. These f-350's are a death trap !information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

I have a 2005 ford f-350 4x4 crewcab diesel which exhibits severe front end shimmy and steering wheel vibration when going over rough roads or cattle guards.this is so severe that i have to come to a complete stop in order to continue.ford is aware of this problem but apparently won't issue a recall to fix it.it is an extremely dangerous situation.

I have a 2005, crew cab, short bed, 6.0 diesel f-350. When driving at 55-75mph on the highway, i passed a small bump triggering a rigorous shaking of the front end. I could not apply brakes rapidly, and the steering wheel began to shake. I barely had control of the vehicle, but after finally slowing down to a stop the shaking stopped. It was very dangerous, and has happened 6 times since at 55-75mph.

Occasional loss of steering "centering" after making a 90 degree turn. This requires an exaggerated and unexpected amount of steering effort to correct this oversteering condition and to prevent crossing into the oncoming traffic.this may occur daily or weekly.

2005 ford f-350 super duty.when driving at highway speeds and crossing rough bridge abutments or other uneven surfaces, whole truck begins to shake uncontrollably and sometimes lasts for several minutes before settling down.this is a sever problem as i'm unable to steer or control the truck.i've complained several times to my dealer and they say there's nothing wrong with the truck.i disagree and believe this is a real safety hazard.

Steering jerks to right then pulls left after correction then oscillates left and right. Won't center after making a corner. Occurs all the time. Tires were rotated, balanced and properly inflated and lug nuts tightened ball joints and linkages were inspected to no avail.

The contact owns a 2005 ford f-350 sd. The contact stated that while driving approximately 60 mph, the steering wheel and front end of the vehicle started to shake. The contact released the accelerator pedal and the shaking became more extreme. After depressing the brakes, the vehicle was moved off the roadway and the contact inspected the vehicle. The contact found nothing loose or hanging. The vehicle was then taken to a dealer where the contact was informed that the vehicle was performing normally when driving at highway speeds. The manufacturer was contacted but offered no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000. The current mileage was approximately 62,000. The vin was unavailable.

The contact owns 2005 ford f350 superduty. While driving approximately 65 to 75 mph, he hit a bump in the road and the vehicle proceeded to shake violently causing him to almost lose control of the vehicle. He was able to regain control of the vehicle when the speed decreased to 30 mph. An independent mechanic was unable to diagnose the failure. The mechanic stated that nothing was wrong with the vehicle.he contact notified the manufacturer; however, they have not responded. The current and the failure mileages were50,000.

I have a 2005 ford f350 superduty(diesel).the truck has an uncontrollable front end vibration/oscillation, whenever i hit a bump in the road, usually 50mph or faster.when it does this there is nothing that i can do to stop it. The only thing that makes it go away is to slow down, almost to a complete stop. This is very dangerous especially on the freeway. I have become afraid to drive on the freeway.as i have done some research on this subject, i have found that many people are having this problem with this model truck. I am worried about my safety and that of my family.

2005 ford f350 crewcab vibration while pulling a load, turbo unit has been replaced twice, dash cluster once, exhaust leak.***nar***the temperature gauge was acting erratic. There was a steering noise when making turns. The consumer was told the vibration that he was experiencing was being investigated.

The contact owns a 2005 ford f-350 superduty.the contact stated that the steering wheel shook so violently that he lost control.while driving 65 mph, he was incapable of controlling the steering.it would move from left to right and he unsuccessfully compensated for the failure.the vehicle was taken to the dealer twice, but they could not duplicate the failure.the dealer stated that nothing was wrong with the vehicle.the manufacturer has not been notified.the current mileage was approximately 95,000 and failure mileage was approximately 93,000.

The contact owns a 2005 ford f-350 superduty.while driving 55 mph, the contact drove over a bump in the road and the steering wheel began to shake very badly.the brake pedal has to be depressed in order to stop the shaking.the failure occurs without warning and almost caused a crash.the dealer inspected the vehicle, but found no failures.the failure mileage was 31,000.

The contact owns a 2005 ford f-350 sd.the contact stated that the vehicle would shake violently while driving over 50 mph.the manufacturer was notified of the failure, but denied any assistance with repairs to the vehicle.the contact made attempts to repair the failure, but the defect continuously recurred.the failure mileage was 45,000 and the current mileage was 60,000.

I was driving on a two lane back road around 45 to 50 mph, and my truck started violently shaking and i lost all control of steering. I went into the oncoming lane, luckily no one was coming, and had to hit my brakes hard to get the shaking to stop. It has also happened while driving at speeds of 35-40 on a city street and 60 mph on a highway. This is known as death wobble. The wobble was so bad that it loosened the track bar and the bolt holding the power steering hard line. I lost all power steering fluid within seconds. I have researched it, tried replacing several parts, like tie-rods, and it has lessened a little bit, but if i hit a bumpy road or even just a patch of new pavement, it starts shaking. I have read a lot of other ford owners are experiencing this same issue with their trucks.

The contact owns a 2005 ford f350 superduty. While driving approximately 65 mph, the steering wheel started shaking uncontrollably. The failure occurred when driving over 55 mph and when driving over a bump in the road. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the tires were changed and a new snubber was placed on the steering. The failure continued to occur after the repairs. The vehicle was taken to independent mechanic where the failure could not be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 98,000.

-when contactwas driving and goingover a series of small bumps lost control of the steering wheel whichwent from right to left quickly to the point of being almost uncontrollable.in order for contact to get control of the steering wheel she had to slow the vehicle down to a speed of 5 mph or come to a complete stop.the contacttookthe vehicle to the dealership ,and theystated that they noticed the same incident as well on a test drive of the vehicle, but theycould not do anything about the incident because the manufacturer hasn't giving the dealership anyadviseon how to fix the failure.

Traveling at any speed between 35 and about 65 so far and hitting a small bump or pothole in the road the steering wheel starts to violently shake back and forth until coming to almost a complete stop and then the shaking will cease.almost impossible to control during this and almost impossible to steer.entire truck will shake so bad you can't see straight.just took it to les schwab for alignment thinking it would fix the problem.they did an alignment and checked all tire pressures to make sure they were correct.less than 48 hours later, same issue again.has happened about a dozen times in the month that i've owned the 2005 ford f-350 super duty diesel crew cab long box.

The contact owns a 2005 ford f-350 sd.while driving 65 mph, the contact lost control of the steering and the vehicle swerved all over the road.when driving over rough pavement, a bridge expansion, or a slight bump, the steering worsens.he has taken the vehicle to the dealer four times and was informed that the tires needed to be rotated, the bushing needed to be changed, and the tire pressure was incorrect.the purchase date was unknown.the current mileage was 36,674 and failure mileage was 10,000.the enginelight illuminated.updated 02-12-08

I purchased a new 2005 f-350 . Since day one it has had a violent front end shake. It doesn't matter if you hit a bump or not. I will not drive it any more. I have taken it to the dealership 15 times and the have replaced the steering box, front coil springs, damper, shocks and adjusted the tire pressure. Nothing seems to fix the problem. Then i took it to an off road specialty store and spent $6200.00 on a 4inch suspension lift, new 35" tires ,dual stabilizing bars and new coil springs. The truck still shakes , bounces , shimmies and hops. I am forced to buy another vehicle (never ford again). I am very concerned for the safety of everyone on the road if ford does not fix the problem immediately.

I have a 2005 ford f350 super duty, with dangerous front end problems.when going at highway speeds (55-70mph), and hitting a bump in the road(even worse while going through a slight curve) the front end starts to shake violently.this oscillation is so strong, that it almost yanks the steering wheel out of my hands.the only thing that makes it stop is to slow down to about 20mph.very dangerous to do on the interstate!!! after doing some research and reading some of the online forums for ford truck owners, i find that this is a major problem and also a very common one to boot.the most worrisome part of this problem, is that is very unpredictable.sometimes i can go a month or so with no problems.however, this past weekend, it did this three times during a 10 mile trip home from a restaurant.this is a major problem that ford motor co. Should be responsible for correcting.if something is not done soon many people could get hurt, and god forbid, be killed.

On july 2, 2011, i was driving my 2005 f350 4x4 ford truck at approximately 60 mph on a downhill grade and hit a pothole in the road.the truck started shaking so violently that i lost control and drifted into the oncoming traffic lane for several seconds without being able to control the vehicle.fortunately it was late at night and no other vehicles were approaching.the steering wheel shook so violently that it blurred my vision while trying to hold on and regain control.the shaking lasted 10-15 seconds and only stopped after i was able to slow the vehicle below 40 mph.i had my wife and two sons in the vehicle with me.this incident may have caused a crash if there was oncoming traffic or if it had occurred on a bend in the road.this incident was the most violent experienced to date, but i have experienced this violent shaking on 3 other occasions after hitting a bump in the road.i had my truck camper on the vehicle and it shook the camper so violently in the bed that the tailgate does not fit properly anymore due to what appears to be a flaring of the truck bed.i firmly believe my entire family was in mortal danger with this event and i am hesitant to drive the vehicle.ford needs to recall and fix this very dangerous defect in their trucks.

Driving down the highway i hit a small bump at 65mph and the entire front end started violently shaking like it was going to fall apart. Has happened to me 3 times now and to my pregnant wife 3 times in one trip! very scary and a serious issue that should be rectified immediately. Extremely dangerous situation at 60mph+ or any speed really.

The contact owns a 2005 ford f 350 super duty.while driving 65 mph the vehicle and steering wheel would shake violently when going over a bump.the contact was concerned about losing control of the vehicle.the dealer stated that there was a design flaw with the vehicle.the failure mileage was unavailable and the current mileage was 17,600.

Shimmy in the front end after traveling over bumpy roadway, causing a temporary loss of steering control.the loss of control caused the vehicle to travel into the oncoming lane of traffic.primarily occurs over 35 mph.happened over 10 to 15 times since the vehicle was new.

The contact owns a 2005 ford f-350 super duty.in january of 2006, while driving approximately 35 mph or more, the vehicle began to shimmy and jump on the opposite side of the road when making left turns.the dealer stated that bolts were missing and the shock mounts failed.the vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred.he returned the vehicle to the dealer and was informed that the tires needed to be replaced.after replacing the tires, a front stabilizer was installed on the front end of the vehicle; however, the failure persisted.the vehicle has not been repaired since the last incident.the manufacturer stated that there were no recalls and they were not liable for the repairs.the current mileage was 61,635 and failure mileage was 4,000.updated 10/21/08.

I have a severe vibration in the front end and steering on my truck after going over a bump or dip in the road. I have only noticed this at freeway speeds and it seems like one tire hits the bump or dip and then the other and it goes into severe vibrations for several seconds.

Front end shimmy on ford f350 4x4 crew cab dully, production year 2005. At about 40 mph when the vehicle hits a bump the front end starts to shake. The feed back through the steering wheel tries to shake the steering wheel out of the drivers hands.this vehicle has had the front stabilizer shock changed, the left side drag link changed and the front end re-aligned. This problem has been continuing since the vehicle as had approx 40,000 miles.currently the vehicle has 90k. I have been told that the shimmy is caused by the tire pressure, tires worn, front end wear, ect.

Bought f-350 with 7200 miles on it.vehicle has a violent front end shakewhen you hit a bump.it is worse at highway speeds and it is so uncontrollable that you feel you are going to loose control of the vehicle.the only way to stop it is to slow down and at highway speeds this is not wise.i have taken it to the dealership several times and they tell me it is tire pressure and or tires.i have bought new tires, had front end aligned and check pressure constantly and it does not help.i will not let others drive this vehicle and also advised the dealership the vehicle is unsafe to drive.i have only 31,000 miles on vehicle now and other than buying a new vehicle do not know what to do next.

Making a left hand turn the steering failed causing the truck to run into a pole. The truck is being repaired using a much stronger steering box by my ford dealer. This is being paid for by my insurance co. Even thow the truck has only 26000 miles on it and is under factory warrenty. I will get the undersize broken steering box. The truck has the original suspension, wheels, and tires it came with. Thanks ford.

We own a ford f350, 2005 model with about 6000 miles. On sun.,3/4, as my wife drove away from a servicestation pump, she lost control of the truck, i.e. She could not steer. Lucky for her she was able to stop before entering a heavily traveled highway. We found that the nut holding the pivot arm with the steering linkage had sheared off along with the cotter pin holding the nut. The nut threads were stripped off. I have the failed nut along with ring/clip holding the cotter pin. The bolt threads on the linkage, to the eye appear to be o'k. As stated though, the nut threads were stripped off. Was this due to a softer metal being used, over torquing or a bad nut??' the truck was towed to newberg ford in newberg, or.

I have a 2005 ford f350 superduty and on several occasions i have been driving down the road and have gone over blemishes in the highway and it has caused a violent shaking in the front end. It has gotten so bad at points that it almost caused a severe accident which might have involved many. This has happened on many occasions and i have to slow down and stop before it subsides. I have been to several dealers and they all say that they have a quick fix but nothing seems to work. Everytime i have tried to fix the problem i have paid for it out of my own pocket. I have spoekn with many for superduty owners that have had this problem and they all say the same thing. This is not only a problem for the driver of the vehicle but also for others on the road as well. Do people need to start dying before there is a service recall to fix the problem. Ford didn't start replacing tires on trucks and suv's before so many people died in care crashes. This is a severe problem and needs to be addressed. There should be no call for paying for and being financially locked into a $50,000 vehicle that could be considered a death trap. This problem exists in all models of the ford superduty and ford still produces these and sells them to consumers and doesn't fix them.

The contact owns a 2005 ford f-350. The contact was driving with the cruise control activated at 75 mph. The vehicle exhibited an abnormally loud explosion from the front of the vehicle. The contact pulled and was unable to find any problem with the vehicle. One hour later, the noise recurred without warning. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and was told the failure came from the tie rods and coil springs. The contact spoke with the manufacturer and they confirmed that the failure was common and there was an alignment issue, but would not provide any assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 42,000.

The vehicle in question, a ford f-350 pick up, is normally used to pull a gooseneck trailer.to connect the trailer, the tail gate of the truck must be opened, the truck backed up part way, the tail ate then closed, and the trailer connected.the tail gate is not opened again until the trailer is being disconnected.i followed this procedure, hauled the trailer about 40 miles on interstate highway to its destination and unloaded the trailer.i then was proceeding to park the trailer before unloading the bed of the truck.during a low speed u turn over slightly rough ground, the tail gate of the ford f-350 (which was still towing the goose neck trailer) popped open and fell against the trailer.before i could get the vehicle stopped, the tail gate was bent by the trailer.damage to the tailgate and truck is costing $1750 to repair.

Consumer states the vehicle is for plowing.however, the coil springs are not strong enough to hold the plow. The plow actually drops down hitting the ground; causing the steering to become erratic or difficult.the transmission had gone out, the tires weren't sufficient enough for this vehicle, the gas gauge read empty at half full due to the low front end and the consumer was told that there was no problem, there was no light in the glove box, there were not mud guards in the wheel well, the volume was inoperative on the radio and there was a problem with the throttle cable due to a two second delay when the gas pedal was applied. *sc

2005 ford f350 4x4 p/up truck violently shakes. Starts out after hitting small bump or bumps and builds into violent shaking from one end of the truck to the other. Only way to stop it is to come to immediate complete stop. Very scary on the freeway. Shaking strong enough that anything on dashboard or console is thrown to floor, steering wheel is almost pulled from hands if you don't grab on tight. Happens irregularly and without notice. Ford had been unwilling to fix, says that i changed parts to after market and will not look at it. I told them problem startedbefore parts change and that parts change was in attempt to fix. That was over a year ago.. Now i find out it has been happening with many similar vehicles, received a letter from ford and now they are willing to take a look.. I changed shocks, radius arms, springs, had alignment, no change. Slight relief when i changed tires (same spec as manufacturers), but after 8-12 months wear, 8000 miles, shaking back again. Started shaking at approx. 12,000 miles. Truck now has 32,000 miles.

I have a 2005 ford f-350 pick up truck. I have had a problem with severe vibrations since shortly after i purchased the vehicle. I have had the truck to the dealer many times for this problem without resolution. I recently received a letter from ford about this "shimmy" problem. The letter recommends maintaining tire pressure. Todate that has not resolved my problem. At one point, i replaced all the tires on the truck at the dealer (they told me that the problem was the way they were wearing) but with new tires and the proper inflation, the problem still occurred. As you are obviously aware there is a problem, i think you need to know that the tires are not the sole cause as it has not fixed my vehicle.

Steering wheel shimmy/oscillation (back and forth motion), immediately following front or rear wheel impacts (pavement joints, frost heaves, rough roads, etc). Near loss of control. Must pull off of the road to slow the vehicle to stop shimmy.

The contact owns a 2005 ford f-350 superduty.while driving 50 mph, the vehicle shook violently.the engine must be turned off in order for the vehicle to stop shaking.the vehicle was taken to the dealer three times and they replaced the sway bar.the failure continued and the dealer stated that they could not diagnose the failure.the manufacturer is aware of the failure.the failure mileage was 49,000 and current mileage was 83,000.

Shimmy in the front end after traveling over bumpy roadway, causing a temporary loss of steering control.the loss of control caused the vehicle to travel into the oncoming lane of traffic.primarily occurs over 35 mph.happened over 10 to 15 times since the vehicle was new.

Odometer 23400 when driving on rough road, crossing rr tracks, ect. Vehicle front end slams upper stop to lower stops violently. You must slow to apx.30-40 mph. To regain control. There is no loss of steering control, or brakingjust a violent "hopping of front wheels" . The vehicle shakes wildly.

2005 ford f350 pick up truck shakes violently in the front end at speeds exceeding 55 mph after crossing over uneven surface.has happened over 25 times and is very dangerous.will only stop "wobbling" when it gets below approx. 30-25 mph.i've had many instances where i had to get the truck to the shoulder to prevent being hit from behind or side swiped and still get the truck down to 25 mph to get it to quit.started several months ago, found online that it is not too uncommon and never knew where to go until now.i am scared to drive this truck, however, it is my only means of transportation to work etc.the truck has been to the shop, $900 later and truck "shook" that evening on highway 101.the ford store where i purchased it said it really isn't fixable.... Whatever that means!

Oscillation of front suspension. My 2005 f350 have been in for repairs several times both by the dealer under warranty and since by other vehicle service agencies. It continues to give me problems and at its worse, caused the vehicle to move sideways slightly into the next lane. Basically i have been told that ?this is normal?

Major front end shimmy or oscillation resulting in total loss of steering and braking. Near crash on several occasions. Has been checked by dealer and private mechanic. Ford says it is tire pressure or balance mechanic says tires are balanced and inflated correct. Unknown why this happens? has happened many times since new and checked as many times. Cost alot of money to keep checking.

1.if i drive over a bump in the road at 50mph or faster.2.front end shimmy.the front of my truck shakes violently and the brakes hardly work to get the truck slowed down.the shaking is so violent that i lose control of the truck.it has shaken my truck so violently that it has damaged my truck.i have had it happen about 12 - 15 times.i can't drive over 50mph or it still happens.i have almost caused 3 accidents as a result of this happening.it happened once with my wife driving with our kids and she went over the centerline and almost hit a semi head on.3. I have taken the truck to the dealership to get repaired and they tell me nothing is wrong with my truck.i purchased the truck new in 2005 and it first started happening at 10,000 miles.truck currently has 34,000 miles and the problem is still happening.i called ford customer care today because i received a letter from them about the problem.they told me that they documented the problem, but because the truck is out of warranty i would have to pay for it to be fixed.it should be noted that i started taking my truck into the ford dealership back in 2006 to have this problem addressed.i have asked ford to look into this problem maybe 4 or 5 times before i got this letter.i also did a google search today about this problem and you can see that many people post online about this very problem.hope this becomes a recall so i can keep me and my family safe. Thank you.

Occasionally, at interstate speeds only (65 - 75 mph), front end shakes violently when crossing over a small change in surface elevation. (for example: transition from road surface to bridge surface)it is not predictable.vehicle steering is compromised and the only way to regain proper control is to allow the truck to slow to approximately 50 mph when violent shaking will subside.vehicle has been inspected by one independent shop and one ford dealership (where vehicle was purchased).neither could identify the source of the problem.truck is stock with no modifications.most recent events occurred two consecutive days traveling interstate 65 between nashville and southern kentucky.two different locations, one northbound and one southbound.

To bruce york and richard boydi am so thankful someone is doing something about this problem. I know for a fact this situation with this steering problem far exceeds anything ford is willing to admit.my case;i have owned my 2005 ford f-350 king ranch 4x4, vin #, sense february 11, 2005. This truck has earned its two nicknames, rhubarb express and #!*% piece of #@^%$. This truck has been nothing but a nightmare for our family. My wife and i can't begin to count how many times this truck has gone out of control and left us in the ditch. We have lost control of this truck nearly every time either one of us has driven it.typical situation, we are driving along the freeway at a safe speed. We might feel a little bump on the road then the steering wheel starts to shimmy then begins to pull from your hands in a hard shimmy. From the time you hit the bump to the time the truck is ripping your hands from the steering wheel is less the 2 seconds. The oscillations are more the 90 degrees from side to side on the steering wheel. These oscillations will continue from your original driving speed until the truck is brought to a complete stop. This usually means driving off the side of the freeway or road onto the shoulder. On many occasions there is no shoulder and we have stopped in the road. On other occasions we have had to stop in the middle of the freeway as there were semi trucks in the slow lane. I mean 65 to 0 miles an hour in the middle of a los angeles freeway! we also have countless memories of sliding to a stop in the rhubarb, dust flying, off the edge of the freeway.all while calling ford and begging them to fix it!we hadthis truck in the dealer many times to have it repaired.

The truck still shakes , bounces , shimmies and hops. I am forced to buy another vehicle (never ford again). I am very concerned for the safety of everyone on the road if ford does not fix the problem immediately.

I own a 2005 ford f 350 that sometimes has a violent steeringwheel shake at highway speeds after hitting small bumps in roadway. Has happened maybe 5 times in 4years where so severe that could not turn steering wheel until speed was reduced by braking quickly.

The contact owns a 2005 ford f-350 superduty.while driving 55 mph and higher, the front end of the vehicle shakes violently and becomes uncontrollable.the dealer could not duplicate the failure.the current mileage was 20,049 and failure mileage was 500.

Front end shake violently when a pot hole or settled trench in the road is hit. It doesn't even have to be a deep or large pot hole. I have taken my truck into the shop and the tech said the front end components look good (tie-rod ends ect...). I have changed the shocks and steering damper and it did not help.

I own a 2005 ford f-350 4x4 6.0 diesel. It has 63,000 miles on it.on many occasions the steering wheel has shimmied or oscillated violently to the point i almost lost control of the truck.this is very dangerous.when the front wheels hit a bump or pothole, with a very small amount of turning the vehicle to the left or right such as going around a curve, the front wheels have started to violently shimmy or oscillate causing the steering wheel to violently shimmy back and forth.this usually occurs at speeds above 40 mph.four times i have almost lost control of the truck.once the truck turned left into an oncoming lane but fortunately there where no oncoming vehicles at that moment. I had to slow down to about 25-30 mph and move to the shoulder of the road to gain control of the vehicle.this is a serious problem with this vehicle especially in heavy traffic or on two lane mountain roads.i originally complained about this after i purchased the vehicle in february 2005, and was told the truck was within specs and there was nothing to be done.i request the nhtsa look into this.i have discussed this with other owners and they too have had similar loss of control problems from steering wheel shimmy or oscillation.i believe there are other trucks that have the same problem.

My 2005 sd f-350 crew cab ford truck shimmies violently when traveling on the interstate and i hit some uneven roadway. It doesn't stop until i almost come to a stop or slow down to below 45mph. The shimmy is very uncontrollable and dangerous and sometime the truck changes lines do to the violent shaking.

This problem is not isolated to a particular day or a particular incident; it is a chronic problem that happens when my vehicle hits a hole in the pavement or a hard bump when traveling at 50 mph or more.my vehicle is a 2005 ford f350 4x4 and the front end begins to shake violently and in my opinion could cause a head on collision.i have spoken to the ford dealership and they said there is no recall for this problem.they offered to install a heavier duty steering stabilizer, which would cost me 380.00, which they say usually helps this problem.this is obviously a design flaw by ford, and they are dragging their feet because they don't want to admit the problem or pay for their mistake.someone will surely be killed, due to this problem, and the government needs to take steps to make sure these trucks are fixed by ford at ford's expense.this is not just a problem for my truck, but is apparently an epidemic. Someone needs to do their job and see that this is corrected.

Dt*: the contact stated while the vehicle hits a bump, traveling at least 65 mph, the front end vibrates.the dealership determined this was normal operating conditions due to the size of the vehicle.

A worsening lateral shimmy in the front suspension.this is usually brought on when an inconsistence in the road surface is crossed over. Ford has made numerous attempt to correct this on our vehicle, but to no avail. Corrections only last a couple of thousand miles and then return.

2005 ford f-350 4x4 dually with severe front end shake at around 50 mph and hitting a bump in road. Must slow to 35 mph to stop shaking. Ford dealer stated problem was due to improper tire pressure. Have replaced steering stabilizer, and drag line, to no benefit as of yet.

Severe shake/ wobble on front end after hitting a bump at highway speeds (65 mph+). It has been to the dealer twice to diagnose and fix the problem. They have replaced the steering box, pitman arm, drag link, drag link ends, re-aligned and re-torqued all of the front end bolts with no solution.

2005 ford f350 crewcab. I took it to the dealer because a few people told me that when they were following me my truck was making dog tracks. It was going down the road crooked. I took it to the dealer and they found i had a broken leaf spring in the right rear of my truck. I have not misused this truck and concerned about the quality and safety. I just wanted to report this.[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Rear axle suspension failure on 2005 ford f-350 super duty truck causing a crash with property damage.

Tl-the contact owns a 2005 ford f-350 superduty.while driving 55 mph, the rubber began to separate from the tires without warning.the contact also stated that the vehicle was constantly pulling.the dealer performed an alignment on the vehicle.no tire information was available.the current and failure mileages were 50,000.

Dt*:the contact stated while driving on the highway at 40 mph in snow, the vehicle slides side to side when 4-wheel drive is in use.the tires seem to be the wrong size for the vehicle.the vehicle is regularly serviced at the dealership.

Dt*:the contact stated while driving on the highway at various speeds in snow, the vehicle slides side to side.the vehicle was taken to the dealership for inspection.upon inspection, the dealership could no duplicate the problem.the manufacturer was notified however, no repairs have been made.

*sc

Front tires are getting choppy.had dealer/service look to see what is the cause.states that tires were a little underinflated.

We have a 2005 ford f350 super duty. On vacation in september 2007, we had 2 valve stems fail from cracks which caused flat tires. The first was as the truck was parked. The second failed as we were on the interstate doing about 60 miles per hour. We heard it blow and got pulled over with no problem. We had both valve stems replaced and discovered that a third one was also cracked. We subsequently replaced all five valve stems with metal stems.

2005 f-350 trailer became unattached striking the guardrail.the trailer traveled off the left side of the road and struck a median wall.the consumer believes the pin came out of the trailer hitch.the safety chains were attached but also broken off.

1. Driving2. Cruise control does not disengage when brake is applied.in fact, when brake is applied, the truck tries to compensate for reduced speed by downshifting and accelerating.i have had it happen twice where it nearly caused me to hit the vehicle in front of me.the dealership verified the problem but could not fix it.they sent me away with the problem still occurring and it is so dangerous that i do not use cruise control at all.3. Dealership attempted to address the problem but couldn't fix it.they verified the problem and documented it in my file with them.

When accelerating in full throttle from a dead stop vehicle delays for a long period of time before taking off. Consumer is concerned about vehicle's actionin an emergency situation.

The a/c control doesn't switch off of the defrost setting.could cause the windshield to fog up and possibly cause an accident.the a/c constantly blows out of the defrost vents.

Driver and passenger windows are getting scratched when window is going up and down.dealer/service states that road dirt is collecting in the felt material used to keep wind noise and wipe window clean when wet.windows are getting deep scratches.vehicle has less than 3000 miles and hardly used.wife's truck is over 2 years old and windows do not look like this.dealer/service took photos of windows and submitted to ford and ford denied claim to replace or repair windows.

This has to do with 19.5" wheels manufactured by vision wheel, specifically wheel # 81a-9770mbo. On the back of the wheel there is a relief machined around each lug hole that is about 1/8"deep x 3/4" in dia. Whether this is a manufacturing design or a flaw i am not sure, but previous wheels of the same model no. Do not have this and are flat on the back. Should the lugs nuts be over tightened it cracks the rim around the lug hole and starts to pull through. I found this shortly after i got my truck back from the tire shop and was looking at the new wheels.it is not readily noticeable and was just luck that i saw it. My concern is that this could happen any time a wheel is taken off for some service or another. If the wheel lug nuts get over torqued this occurs. These wheels are used primarily by people that carry heavy loads as the 19.5 tires afford better stability. Should someone not be aware of this issue there is the possibility of loosing a tire. This could be resolved simply by not machining the back of the wheel as was noted above. I believe this could be a hazard.contact info can be obtained here: http://www.visionwheel.com/contact.cfm
