I , being the owner with a passenger, of a f- 350 7.3 crew cab diesal 4x4 was in an accident after going over black ice on i-40 near flagstaff az. Resulting a roll over and taking out a 14 inch pine tree and landing on its passenger side when it was all said and done! the air bags in the pick- up did not deploy !

I wondered if the situation i'm about to present are grounds for investigation for a safety recall.both airbags on my 1999 f350 super duty turbo diesel 7.3l were deployed hitting me on my chest and my 17yr son on his face, impairing the ability to drive till we went to a halt, thank god i was only going 30mph and not too much traffic on either side. Can't imagine what could happen at the freeway at 65mph.passenger side airbag cover shattered the front windshield.all of this happened when the shaft became loose from the transmission joint, the shaft 12.9 grade bolts broke in half and the rocking shaft damaged the transmission casing and brackets, deploying the 2 airbags and shattering the front windshield with the passenger side airbag cover, making the vehicle unusable.ford co. Assumed no responsibility on this issue at all, not even attempted to investigate or to provide information on how the part broke and why the airbags were deployed in the absence of a crash.this situation will cost me a lot of money, suffering, financial situation and definitely could cause injuries and death.on mechanic malfunction ford motor company assumes no responsibility, they just informed me there were no safety recalls on that issue.

While driving a 1999 ford f-350 i hit a small bump in a parking lot and both air bags deployed. I took the truck in to a local ford dealer tom holzer ford who refused to look at it and told me it doesn't happen that way. I am in the process of replacing the air bags but have heard after the incident that this has happened to others. I am concerned that i will replace the air bags and they will deploy again, and cause some type of accident.

Vehicle was involved in froantal collision of 30 mph and neither air bag deployed. Manufacturer contacted. Feel free to provide any further information.

Dt: the contact states there isa nhtsa recall campaign 98v303000 concerning the air bags:frontal:sensor/control module . This vehicle experienced the same problemsas indicated in the recall, but is not included in the recall due to vin.updated 1/4/2006 - the vehicle had a hose break that went through the transmission coupler resulting in damage to the transmission.when the vehicle was towed off the road and at a complete stop the driver's air bag deployed.the transmission has been repaired but the air bag has not.

I have a 1999 f350 super duty diesel with a 7.3 engine and my inside light do not work right some times it will just come on as you are driving down the street and some times it wont come on when you open the door .the inside light is getting worse my truck would just stop running as you are driving down the street or at a stop light. I went into the fuse box under the steeringwheel and i thought it could be a fuse come to fine out that my relay fuse to the inside light was so hot that it could have started a fire so i pulled it out now i drive around with no inside lighting.

Auto part put on order but seems ford motorcompany knows problem existed with many other transmissions yet it seems tech's at auto dealers are some how not aware of problem in tech orders that should be issued. The part is hard to get as it's on back orders. The part number is(cluster gears for speedometers that go into transmissions)xc3z*10849*ya instrument cluster with 7543 agc-20amp glass fuse.the dealers are charging customers a total of $610.18 for the repair. When this part fails the speedometer stops operatingv10transmissions

Two failures of cam position sensor casused me to be stranded twice until the part was replaced.

The vehicle suddenly lost accelerating power, then lost all power, brakes and steering.i was able to pull over with no problems.new cam sensor solved problem.

The batteries on my 1999 f350 crew cab dually with a 7.3 diesel went dead. When i tried to charge the batteries the charger showed an extremely high draw. I heard a solenoid clicking under the drivers side battery and the radio would turn on and off. I also noticed that my heater control would work even with the key off. After taking to the local ford dealer i was told that the windshield was leaking and water had damaged the gem module and the fuse block. Repair cost to replace the gem module, fuse block and seal the leaking area was $1063.01. When checking the internet to see what the gem module controlled i find that the water leak is a know problem due to a skip or void in the production sealer. According to the forums i have read there are many many trucks with this same problem. From what i found there are two tsb's issued for the water leak. They are tsb 99-2-3 and 04-23-9. From comments on the internet several trucks have caught fire and burned up. Ford apparently doesn't think this is a problem and has not taken action to correct the problem nor will they assist in the repair.

1999 ford f-350. Parked in driveway. Fire in the engine compartment.source appears to be just behind the air filter box in the area of the master cylinder.most of the electrical harness destroyed.driver side battery melted down.denver fire had to respond to put out the fire.i was never notified of a recall and this vehicle has been serviced at least twice by the local ford dealership.

April 2nd of 2004 driving at 30 mph and coasting to a stop sign the number 3 spark plug blew out of the right side cylinder head of my 1999 ford f-350 with a v-10 engine in it. Ford in kingman,az. Installed a reconditioned cylinder head that had a spark plug blow out of it and a steel insert was the fix for that cylinder head. I was given a reconditioned head with the insert in it and told by the ford mechanic in kingman,az. That it is just a matter of time before it blows another spark plug out or sucks the steel insert into the engine. I sinserly hope i'm not 100 miles from anywhere when this happens again. I also hope it's not going to happen on the way to the hospital trying to help someone. This is a vast problem and can easily be researched on the internet by simply typing in "ford v-10 ,spark plug".ford knows this is a casting problem with the aluminum heads having only 3 thread count in each cylinder hole holding each spark plug in.

I was driving and my truck stalled before getting to a complete stop. I was about to reach bumper to bumper traffic.luckily there was grass on the right hand side and i pulled in there to avoid hitting a car. Had to go over the sidewalk. After turning off, i tried to start with no luck. After 10 minutes i tried again and it started. A little down the road same thing happened, it stalled. Happened like 2 more times until i got to work. Called my mechanic and he stated that the cps usually goes out and he bought one for me. Installed it and it worked. Just waiting for the next time it happens as i have read these things give out all the time.

I havea 1999.5 ford f-350 diesel crewcab dualley truck. On 05/15/2007 while drivingon the freeway noticed a loss of power. I got off freeway, and truck was idling erracticly and roughlywith loss of power. The next day truck startedup like normal. I test drove the truck, and same symtoms occurred.this time the check enginelight came on. I changed the cam positioner sensor (cps),and reset the computer. I test drove the truck with noproblemsi had before.

Prolonged crank/no start.

Spark plug blew through the cylinder head of vehicle causing the cylinder head to be replaced at a cost of 3600.00.

Spark plug blow out on ford v-10 engine.

Spark plug blew out of cylinder head, which cost over $2000.00 in repairs in late 2004 and now again another spark plug blew out and the estimate for repair is $4400.00.

I have had two major problems with this truck. My first issue was very dangerous in my opinion. The cam sensor went out which caused my truck to suddenly stop while i was driving it. Every system shut down including brakes. More than once i was going 70mph and it suddenly stopped - i had to guide myself to the shoulder and stop the truck with no brakes. Very very scary! i had the truck to several dealers al told me they had no idea what was wrong. Finally i talked to my cousin, a dodge mechanic, he explained that ford knew of a serious defect with their cam sensor on that year truck - he explained what it should cost to fix it. I took it to a private mechanic and he fixed it in his shop for exactly what my cousin said it would cost. Ford still has not acknowledged they knew of a problem.second problem was with my brakes. The left front caliper broke off and jammed in the rest of the brake and stopped my truck very suddenly. I almost went through the windshield. I had them replaced with ford parts. I have had the new brakes back into the dealer several times as they seem to be doing the same as the first set - pulling to the left and not working particularly well. I was told it was due to the way i drive - downhill and steering to the right while braking - nonsense- i anticipate having the same problem at any time and stopping, dangerously, suddenly on the main street of my small town just as happened last time.

Took my truck to the laird noller ford dealership for a cam sensor recall in november 2008. They could not make the repair that day and my appointment was rescheduled for after christmas 2008. The dealership told me that there was a recall on the parking brake module and they would replace it at the same time they replaced the cam sensor. Approximately a week after christmas (it was a wednesday) i took it back in for the repairs.they told me they would have it done at the end of the day, but at the end of the day they called back and said it would not be done until the next week. So, that next monday (january 3rd ish 2009) they called, i went to pick up my truck and all the recall repairs were made.everything was good until september 17th 2009. I had my truck parked in my driveway, the emergency brake set (it has a manual transmisson), so it would warm up that morning. I was walking back to my house when i heard a load pop, i turned to see what was happening, and my truck began rolling out of my drive way and smashed into a tree.called my insurance company, told them my parking brake module broke and that ford had just replaced it earlier in the year. They towed my truck to a body shop. I called ford next, and told them about the crash. They said that they would gather all my paper work and my insurance company would get a hold of them, and they would talk with them about who would pay for the damages. Then i called my insurance company, and told them who to talk to. My insurance decided the parking brake had failed, and that i needed to take it to ford to get it checked out. Ford looked at it, and agreed that yes the part (factory recalled and replaced part) had failed, and proceeded to price me a new one. They told me mine was out of warranty. The replacement part allegedly had only a 12 month 12,000 warranty, and i was at 10 months, 14,000 on a part that doesn't wear because of mileage. The parking brake was not replaced and failure occurs during every use.

Spark plug blew out on v10 engine. Only has 74000 on the engine. In the owners manual it statedthe first major tune up wasn'tuntil 100000. Local ford dealership wanted$5000.00 to fix the problem. Says it was very common on the v10 for this to happen. Ford won't fix the problem ,and this didn't make sense to me. Why werea few f350 super crew trucks blowing spark plugs. They say it washeavy duty, but it wasnot. If this wasso common that even the tow truck driver knew exactly what was wrong when he picked up the truck then it must be a design flaw ford should fix this problem. My wife was driving the truck when this happened on the freeway with our 6 year old triplets. She barely made it to the emergency lane, and almost was hit twice. Fordwas lucky because if anything had happened to my children i would be in court getting lots of money from ford.

The contact owns a 1999 ford f-350 sd. While driving approximately 5 mph, there was a complete loss of power steering and force was applied to the brakes repeatedly before coming to a stop. The vehicle was maneuvered off the road. The contact discovered the serpentine belt broke in which he replaced. The vehicle was able to resume as normal. The manufacturer was not notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 190,000. The vin was unavailable.

Dt:the contact stated a spark plug ejected from her husband's vehicle.the spark plug caused damage to the engine and blew the cylinder head.the service dealer confirmedit.the dealer replaced the cylinder head.the replacement corrected the problem.the contactsaid this was the same problem as experienced in the investigation for the engine and engine cooling, nhtsa action number dp05005.

Spark plug blow out on ford v-10 engine.

Driving along and engine suddenly and completely died with no warning.truck had to be towed.problem was the camshaft position sensor.replacing this part with a new one has solved the problem so far.i have the old part.

I was going to the store to finish christmas shopping.i was stopped in the parking lot waiting to turn left when i heard a very load bang from under the hood.i first thought something on the exhaust broke.when i parked i opened the hood and found the #5 spark plug coil and wire hanging from the left side of the engine with the spark plug still in the boot.i attempted to thread the plug back in but found the threads in the head were stripped out.the spark plugs and boots were changed once since i've owned the truck, which was about a year ago.the new plugs were all torqued to exactly 11 foot lbs as specified by ford.i just had the truck towed home today so no repairs have been made yet.

I am the owner of a 1999 ford f-350 diesel super duty truck with duels.while driving, the check engine light will come on intermittently.when this happens, the truck will not accelerate.it's still running, but you can't go any where.pressing the gas pedal is useless.sometimes the light will go off and acceleration is restored.other times, i have to steer the truck over to the side of the road and either put the truck in park which will sometimes make the check engine symbol disappear or turn the truck off and restart it.this makes for a very dangerous situation where i am at risk of being rear-ended.i am very fortunate not to have been in an accident yet and pray i won't be.please help or point me in the right direction to get help!thank you!

Driving to local fishing spot on a spring day when a loud pop from under the hood followed by more consistent pops, noise, and poor running condition. I pulled over and checked under the hood only to find the coil precariously propped up and out of it's seat.removing the coil was astonished to see that the plug was still in the coil. The plug had been ejected crushing the coil and fuel rail.i called the local wrecker for a tow (must be flatbed due to size of truck) to the dealer.dealer denied any knowledge of problem and was promptly told it would be several thousand dollars to repair and many many days out of service.i had truck towed to my home and proceeded to fix it myself.

Ford f350 v10, multiple spark plug ejections from cylinder heads. Has happened many times, reinserted plugs per "fords" recommendation, as if i was unable to properly torque plugs. Now i am left with my families truck, stripped heads and no money to fix it.

3 car pile up.our truck was the 3rd vehicle.impact speed 35 to 45 mph.we have a 1 ton truck that had the frame bent and motor mount that broke.repair damage est. To be $9,000.the air bags did not deploy.

Spark plug shot out of engine - stripped threads.

Truck has 56k miles on it. My wife was driving a couple of miles from hom ewhen she heard a loud bang or pop noise which shook the truck. The truck then continued making a loud noise, she drove back home and after looking at the engine, i determined that a coil pack had blown off. The spark plug was also attached to it so the next morning i called my local ford dealer, av ford and they said more than likely it's what they call a 'blown plug'. They estimated the head should be replaced since this would strip the threads of the head. The service advisor said this is a common problem and that both heads should be replaced at a cost of $5800 because otherwise i might have the same problem again in a short amount of time. I did some research online and found that this problem is very common with the ford v10 engines from about 1999-2003. I talked to a couple of other ford service techs at other dealerships and they agreed that it's a very common problem that ford is not recognizing or doing anything about. I called ford consumer relations to complain about the defect and they said before they can help me, i need to have the dealer officially look it over. The truck is at the dealership and they want $5800 to fix it. There are several hundred or even thousands of posts online of other ford owners that have experienced this same problem with the v10 engine. The defect is that the aluminum heads do not have enough threads to hold the spark plugs securely and eventually they will vibrate loose enough to blow out causing unrepairable damage to the head.

I was driving down the freeway towing a trailer and lost all power to the engine for about 10 seconds. The 1999 ford f350 sd 7.3 diesel engine regained power and surged forward.this happened several times during this trip and subsequent dates.i attached a obd2 reader, which gave me the code for the cam position sensor.i replaced the cps and the problem stopped.the dealer told me that this is a common problem and the parts worker had the part number memorized when he sold me a new one.i now carry a spare cps and a 10 mm wrench in the vehicle in case it happens again.this is a quality control issue or an engineering issue.please let ford know that i will by a dodge or chevy next time.

Ford spark plug ejection -dp05-005.

The contact owns a 1999 ford f-350 sd.in march of 2009, a spark plug blew out of the coil pack hole.the contact had the spark plug replaced; however, the failure recurred on july 23, 2009.the contact is unsure if he will have the vehicle repaired again due to the safety defect.both failures occurred without warning.the vehicle is unable to be driven.the vin was unknown.the failure mileage was 102,000.

1999 f350 7.3 diesel -cps failure caused engine to stall-no brakes or steering- caused accident-3rd cps

The cps unit on my 1999 ford f-350 7.3 diesel motor gave out with no warning whatsoever.we were driving on a very curvy road and i was barely able to maintain control of the truck (no brakes, no power steering).it seems that these cps units fail over and over on all of these ford diesels.i can't help but think that they are very, very dangerous and that somebody has had to have died from this.

Multiple cps failures. I've had 2 sensors fail in a 40,000 mile period. When the sensor fails the engine shuts off. It's not a fun ride when you have a trailer weighing close to 10,000 pounds on the back of a truck that looses power without warning. I now carry a brand new packaged spare sensor and tools to change it in my truck at all times.

On novemebr 20, 2009 i took my ford f350 to a dealer for recall work, cam sensor replacement07s57. The dealer did not replace the sensor but visual checked it. I wrote a letter to ford on november 30, 2009 explaining the problem and they assigned case numberto my problem. On january 7, 2010 i wrote a second letter to ford asking for a decision and have not received a response. All i want is a ford guaranteed cam sensor installed in my truck per the recall notice.

Lost cps on ford 7.3 psd.

The vehicle suddenly lost accelerating power, then lost all power, brakes and steering.i was able to pull over with no problems.new cam sensor solved problem.

I owned a 99.5 ford f350 with the 7.3l diesel and manual transmission. At around 30k miles, driving down the highway at 65 mph while towing a loaded trailer, the truck shut off. This left me with no power steering and no power brakes or abs brakes. Had the incident occurred on a steeper grade or busier time of day, it could have been deadly. After pulling over to the shoulder, the truck restarted and ran briefly before shutting down again. It had to be towed at that point. The truck was still under warranty. After the second attempt at fixing the truck, which led to another high speed stall with loss of control, they finally replaced the cam position sensor (cps). I had told them that this was probably the problem when i had it towed the first time. It seems common knowledge among ford 7.3l diesel owners that this part fails without warning at as early as 500 miles on the odometer. Most owners carry a spare in their trucks to avoid being stranded. My concern is that this has become a major safety issue with these trucks as more and more families use them as grocery-getters and/or the family wagon. A less experienced driver or a driver in a more hazardous setting would not have fared as well as i did. I urge you to research this problem and bring it to light so that ford can no longer sweep it under the rug until people get hurt. As these trucks get more miles on them the odds increase dramatically that the cps will fail leaving the vehicle in an uncontrollable state in many instances.

1999 ford f-350 with a recall on the camshaft sensor. Consumer states that he has had to replace 2 camshaft senosrs. He also states due to this failure he carries an extra one in the glove box.

We have a 1999 ford 7.3 diesel (112,000 mi), this is the second cam position sensor to go out.in this instance when the sensor went out the truck shut itself off, as if the ignition had been turned off.it died just before i was about to go down a very steep hill.had the truck died while going down the hill, i would not have been able to stop the truck withoutpower brakes.we also have a 2002 f350 7.3 liter diesel that has one cam position sensor replaced.this is a very common problem with the 7.3 liter trucks and in my opinion a dangerous one, since the truck turn themselves off with no warning.with the engine off, there is no power brakes or steering on a truck that weighs several tons, this is a dangerous situation.

The cam position sensor on my '99 ford f-350 w/ 7.3l power stroke is failing intermittently. These failures cause the engine to shut down instantly with no warning. When the engine shuts down there is a loss of power steering and brakes. This has occurred in traffic on interstate 283 in pa causing the vehicle to loss steering and brakes in rush hour traffic with no warning. On one other occasion this occurred in a parking lot causing loss of control of the vehicle while turning due to loss of steering and brakes when the vehicle stalled, causing a minor collision with a curb. No property personal injury occurred. This is a common problem with these vehicles and in my opinion is a very serious safety issue.

Vehicle began having random stalling or not starting without cranking for a long duration.finally vehicle stalled in traffic and would not restart.when vehicle stalled a loss of power brakes and power steering was noticed despite the vehicle being a manual transmission and in gear and being back driven as termed by ford motor company.vehicle required a tow truck to deliver to dealership, where it was determined the cmp sensor was defective.trouble code p1111 was found by technician.i was told this was a "problematic" part and i should carry a spare in case it happened away from the city.as a result i chose to purchase a spare part and keep it in the glove box for just such a repeat occurrence.

Dt:bought truck11-15-01.since then you have had repaeted problems with the front hub bearings.the 1st time they went out was 12-12-01, again on 2-11-02, and 2-14-02.again 4-23-03.now currently out again.in the past ford has worked with this issue, now will not.3-15-05 new engine was installed, now has check engine light on and knocking noises. Dealer is refusing repairs unless pays out of pocket.

Ford f-350 truck. Front aluminum wheel on passenger side of truck has now started to separate. I contacted this office on june 25, 2009 at 4:09 pm edt about the driverside front aluminum wheel separating odi # 10274954. I contacted ford and the local ford dealership ( hagerstown ford tim rowe) and they have done nothing.

I noticed a strong diesel smell while driving my 1999 ford f350 pickup two weeks ago. Upon investigation i found diesel had sprayed on the top of the hot engine. I took the truck to a local shop; the mechanic told me, "yeah, we see this all the time, usually on trucks of this age. It's the fuel drain valve behind the filter casing." i do not like the idea of any fuel spraying onto the top of a hot engine!

Vehicle was taken to the local dealer to remedy manufacturer's recall 99s32.the vehicle was held for eights days.at the time of pickup, the conumer received a receipt of warranty items being fixed but not the recall. Consumer has repeatedly contacted dealer and questioned if the recall has been fixed but the dealer refuses to answere.the consumer is dissatisfied with dealer's service.

The fuel pump on 1999 f350 4x4 with 38800 miles [xxx] stranded me and the family after travelling 80 miles driving at 65mph near morris, il. Required a tow truck that took over 2 hours to get us. I am a diabetic and as a consequence of being stranded my blood sugar was too low. Towed to the ford garage and techs replaced the fuel pump at a cost of $680, the service manager stated that 7 other ford vehicles were towed in with fuel pump failures. He called ford to report the problem and was told that it was not fords fault but too high of a alcohol level in the local gas. That is unacceptable as my wifes jeep uses the same fuel that i do and her car did not have a fuel pump failure. Dome light inside cab will sometimes stay on after opening a door.when acceleration occurs light will go out, when vehicle slows light comes back on. Extremely aggraviating while operating vehicle, especillay at night.

The door handle on the ford super duty and lock mechanism are plastic. Which in turns breaks very easily.thieves know this and target these vehicles at an alarming rate. My super duty has been broken into 3 times in 4 months. Ford has no fix to stop this design flaw.

1999f350 dullie, has no parking brakes ,

Truck was parked in garage, facing out of garage.truck had not been driven for 4 days.truck had handbreak set when parked.i started truck up due to the number of days it had not been driven to charge battery.verfyed that handbrake was set ( red brake light was on) and place truck in neuteral (5-speed).(garage door was open due to truck running).i went inside and about 5 min passed looked out kitchen window saw truck at end of drive way.truck was stopped by tow hook hitting tree.driver side mirrow hit tree and was folded back.

I purchased a 1999 f-350 super duty dually. From records from the pervious owners problems and the problems i have had with this truck, i can not belive service problems i have had. A couple of months ago the parking brake blew when i was on almost level ground and need least to say the truck rolled and crashed, lucky not one was hurt.but it did quit a bit of damage to the truck and my trailor. Now i know this is a problem on these fords but not yet on my perticulare truck. Also in the last three months i have put in a new clutch witch is expected. And have had close to $ 3,000 in brake repairs????? that was not!!!drums cracking, hubs exploadingwitch i understand in a problem too but not on my truck yet?????? please have some one contact me i need some guidence, information, help i have had no help from ford.

Emergency brake fill not hold truck on a hill and cable breaks every year.have adjusted, replaced pedal, cable, etc.

While pulling a trailer in 4 wheel drive (because of ground conditions) the front pinion shaft snapped. During research for repair part most peopleassociated with the needed repair were aware that the problem existed.i was even told by a dana employee that the pinions were not heat treated properly.

I have had many problems with a vehicle i purchased new in 1999.it has been in the dealer's service shop mulitple times and also for the same problems.most recently is a problem i have had the dealer inspect and try to fix 4 times and it is still a problem.apparently the 4x4 is not fully disengaging and causes many problems while in 2-wheel drive.i am taking it in again for the 5th time for this problem on monday and i am at a complete loss.i paid a lot of money for this truck and have had nothing but problems with it and they are ongoing.please help!!!

While driving on highwaytransmission/overdrive went out and couldn't shift into any gears.contacted dealer. Dealer put in a new transmission.15000 miles later, transmission went out again. Contacted dealer again, andat 26000 miles transmission went out once more. This was the 7th transmission replaced.

Transmission "park" failure.

The torque converter went out and destroyed the transmission.had to have complete replacement that ford said would not be covered.vehicle had 75,000 miles.

I have had 2 super duty's now a 2000 f350 and a 1999 f350 on the 2000 . I had the leftfront wheel bearings failat 45k and theright at 53k miles running stock tires and wheels when the right side failed the wheel almost came off i had to be towed i sold that truck thinking i was not happy about it and got this one the 99 both front wheel bearings are out. I looked on the web this is a huge problem with these trucks can't even grease them and they are $550 each.

(1) driving my 1999 ford f-350 super duty diesel home from work.(2) i pushed in the clutch pedal to shift down, the clutch failed to release and the pedal stuck to the floor. I ended up in the middle of an intersection avoiding a collision. The truck is undriveable, blocking traffic, and required towing.(3) the clutch release for had cracked and bent also causing a failure of the clutch hydraulic circuit. Replacement of the release fork and hydraulic circuit restored the truck to operation condition. The part number of the new clutch release fork was different than that of the one removed, leading me to suspect a problem with the stock release fork. Original release fork part number f61a-7515-be. New installed release fork part number yc3z-7515-bb. I have retained the old release fork at my home address.

Consumer called complaining about having clutchproblems.stated that while driving and stepping on the clutch, clutch will not come out, and the vehicle keeps on running by itself.

Standard 6 speed transmission wouldn't go into reverse or first gear andwouldn't come out of gear. This was caused by a bad clutch installed at time of manufacturing.

Driving my 1999 f350 ford crew cab long box. Veh is a 7.3 diesel with a 6zf 6spd transmission.traveling 75mph the vehicle develops a mild vibration. I push in the clutch to pull out of traffic, the rear drive line flange bolts sheer off at the transfer case, the drive line knocks a hole in the floor board of the vehicle caves in the catalytic converter tears out the carrier bearing and separates the two piece drive shaft.the rear section of the drive shaft hits the right rear wheel sending the rear of the truck airborne and breaking the drive line off at the rear axle.further inspection i find the transfer case has been torn from the transmission extension housing destroying the transmission housing.this truck has 124000 miles on it has never had work on the drive train. And inspection of the drive train less than a year ago showed no signs of excess wear.

The contact owns a 1999 ford f350 super duty.when the contact attempted to accelerate, the vehicle would not transition from idle or gain speed.it would take minutes for him to switch out of idle mode.the failure occurred at least four times.the contact took the vehicle to the dealer the first two times and repaired it under warranty.during the last two occurrences, he took the vehicle to a private repair shop once and another time repaired the issue himself.the throttle pedal assembly was the component that needed to be replaced.the manufacturer stated that they would not take any action for the failure.the current mileage is 138,754 and failure mileage was 30,573. Brake line ruptured while driving. After checking the metal brake lines found all to rusted badly.

Dt: the contact owns a 1999 ford f350. The contact stated that when he applied the brakes the vehicle would wander to the left toward oncoming traffic.a brake job was done to the vehicle but the problem persisted.thedealership replaced all the parts that were replaced the first time.they told him that it was something else. The vehicle was unsafe to drive.all the parts were ford parts.the vehicle was in the shop for the past two weeks but they could not figure out what the problem was.

Rotted out rear brake line behind fuel tank. I was towing a trailer and went to stop at a light and the petal went to the floor. I swerved to avoid the car in front of me. My right lane was empty allowing me to use it as a emergency lane and stop because the trailer had brakes. I limped home for repairs. I replaced the complete brake line from front to rear. It had rotted out behind the fuel tank on the drivers side.

1 operating hour after coming down a 7% grade my 1999 f350 truck with camper suffered complete brake failure due to a corroded brake line.the fault occurred in a clip where moisture and abrasives had been held against the steel brake line.nearby diesel fuel lines exhibited no rust.because ford used steel that can rust for the critical brake line, my family almost lost our lives and potentially caused the deaths of others.the replacement left par of the original brake line in place.

The contact owns a 1999 ford f-350 superduty. While driving 35 mph, the contact applied the brakes to slow down and the front brake pads fell off the vehicle. The contact shifted into neutral and rubbed the curb so that the vehicle would stop. The contact called the authorized dealer regarding the failure and the dealer stated that the pads fell off because the rotors were too thin. The brake pads were replaced. The failure mileage was approximately 83,000.

- the contact owns a 1999 ford f 350 sd with a failure mileage of 132,000 miles.while backing out of the garage with his foot on the brake he heard a cracking noise, and realized that the brakes failed.the vehicle rolled backward down the driveway.he had to apply the emergency brake to stop the vehicle.the vehicle was taken to a mechanic, who stated that the controller failed.recall 02v068000 was issued for this year, make and model, but this vehicle was not included.the vehicle had not been repaired.

I was traveling on the expressway with my 99 ford f-350 pulling a 5th wheel trailer when the front driver's side tire blew out.as i wrestled the truck to the shoulder, the brakes completely failed.as far as i could tell, even the electronic brakes on the trailer weren't helping to stop me as i drifted to a stop on the shoulder.the tire tread when it shredded apparently blew out a vacuum hose and there may have been some other connector or line associated with the abs system that was affected - but i think it was just the vacuum hose.the mechanic who got us back on the road said that when the hose went out, the abs system thought the tire was locked so it shut off the brakes - apparently all of them.if i had been in city traffic, we'd have plowed into vehicles in front of us potentially resulting in death or severe injury for someone.trying to remember to downshift or hit the parking brake while wrestling a truck pulling a trailer that is riding on the front wheel rim and trying to pull back into traffic is rather challenging.i've lost a lot of confidence in abs and wonder if this was an isolated incident, something associated with that particular vehicle or a basic hazard of abs systems that is unknown to the public.

There is a problem with braking on the diesel trucks.when appling the brakes in a panic situation and one or both of the rear wheels loose traction, the rabs kicks in and the pedal goes to the floor.this is also accompanied by sudden increase in steering effort at the same time if an attempt is made to steer around an accident situation.these diesel trucks use a hydro boost system run off of the power steering pump for the brakes.there is also a sudden decrease, many times severe, in braking power.when this happens, the only way to regain the brakes is to release them and reapply them, taking great care not to skid one or both of the rear tires.talking to other owners, it appears to be a design flaw and replacing parts will not repair the situation.the master cylinder and calipers are all working properly and this truck has done it from the day it was new.there have been several instances where i have had to apply the brakes in a panic stop and had one or both of the rear wheels start to skid.the brake pedal then goes to the floor, braking is severely diminished and the ability to stop is virtually non-existent.only by releasing and re-applying the brakes can braking be restored and it is only through this effort and the experience of years of driving police vehicles that i have been able to avoid several accidents.dt

The braking system on the vehicle began to perform poorly.when taken to the garage, they stated that the rotors appeared to be made out of a defective steel.that what was happening to the braking system should never have happened if the steel wasn't defective. *la

The contact owns a 1999 ford f-350 super duty. The contact was driving at approximately 35 mph and he depressed the brake pedal, it went down to the floorboard and stuck. The contact was able to safely drive the vehicle home where he checked the brake line and saw that it was corroded on the rear driver side in front of the fuel tank. The vehicle had not taken the vehicle into an authorized dealership for diagnosis but did call; the dealer stated that the contact would have to repair the brake line at his expense. The vehicle had not been repaired at the time of the complaint. The current and failure mileages were approximately 72,000.

I have a complaint about my 99 ford f350 super duty 1 ton pickup.the steering of this truck sucks!i have had it to the ford garage in missoula, mt and they said the steering had been set up too tight and that it was now set to factory specs and it still isn't right.the garage said that they could replace all parts in the steering and it still wouldn't make the truck handle good.what's with that?

The contact owns a 1999 ford f350 super duty.the contact noticed that the vehicle was experiencing steering failure, he felt the vehicle sway back and forth.the vehicle was taken to the dealer and they informed him of recall number 98v116000 (steering:gear box (other than rack and pinion)).however, ford stated that there was no recall.the contact stated that if there was a recall, he was never notified.the speed was unknown.the current mileage was 47,858 and failure mileage was 45,000.

The contact owns a 1999 ford f-350 sd.the contact stated that when driving at least 30 mph and attempting a turn or switching lanes, the power steering system would not return the steering wheel back to center, causing the vehicle to drift outside the lanes. The contact located a recall regarding the failure (nhtsa campaign id number: 98v116000- steering: gear box other than rack and pinion) but was advised by the manufacturer that his vin was not included in the recall campaign. The failure mileage was 161,000.

I have had 2 steering gear boxes break on my truck. The first was when my truck was hit while parked. The individual hit the front of my vehicle and dented in the front bumper and fender. It was not until we went to load the truck on the wrecker that we discovered the broken box. The second time i was driving down the road and the person in front of me slammed on their brakes to avoid an individual making a turn in front of them. I jerked my wheel to the left to go over the curb and avoid the accident but when my tires hit the curb it sheared of the pitman arm right below the steering gearbox which resulted in me losing my steering. I then plowed into the vehicle infront of me with no way to avoid them. The curb was not a very big one and it worries me that this important part broke so easy.

(truck history: windshield replaced due to crack from road debris). Problem encountered: electrical systems in the truck would run with key removed whenever it would rain hard. Taken several times to dealerto verify "service engine soon" light problem which would come on after heavy rains. The truck would have all kinds of electrical equipment coming on/off by itself. The mechanic from the ford dealership whom i had worked with on my problems, discovered the fuse box (under the dash) showed signs of electrical arcing and moisture area the carpet in the floor. The ford dealership replaced the fuse box at my expense. The windshield was replaced at my expense and was properly sealed, the windshield mechanic stated the windshield was not leaking but around the fender and windshield drain trough showed signs of water staining. The water was leaking onto the fuse box causing havoc to electrical system.

My father and i were driving on interstate 96 in michigan in my 1999 ford f350 super duty truck.we were going about 68mph and had been driving for approx 2hours prior.all the sudden, we heard something rattling and then the drivers side rear tire blew out sending our vehicle sliding to the side. We nearly rolled my truck.after pulling over and further inspection with the towing company, we determined that the rear leaf spring had fractured and plunged itself into my tire.this almost killed us and we are very upset not to mention the tow bill, new tire, and new springs.i called the dealer and he has notified me that all of these trucks do this and it is a common problem.someone needs to rectify the problem before more hardworking people that spent good money to buy a work truck are injured or killed. I cannot get the ford dealer to cover the issue and would like help. I now am faced with a $1200 repair bill in addition to the tow bill to correct the situation.

A few weeks ago, i was travelling home when the right front tire of my 1999 ford super duty blew out.as i was driving, a heard a loud bang followed by a hard pull to the right and major vibrations in the front end of the vehicle.i was able to pull the truck off to the side of the road and no one in the truck was injured.it appears to me by looking at the tire, that the tread has separated from the sidewall all the way around the circumference of the tire.i took the tire into firestone to let them examine it.the manager has given me a report that states "found no visual problems in the tire".with this type of blowout, i would have expected to see some scrap steel in the tread or a large nail hole (or something).we found no indications that the tire was injured.the tires were properly inflacted because i always make it a point to check air pressure on all long road trips, just as i did on november 19, 2000.the tires have more than half tread remaining on them.i've registered complaints with both ford and firestone regarding this issue.no one is responding other than to tell me that this is not a tire that is being recalled.6maybe it should be.i'm concerned about the safety of my family riding in this vehicle. (dot number: vnw81xl119tiresize: 265/75/r16)

On october 17, 1998after driving on a us montana300 miles i had a front passenger tire blow out.the last i recall was jerking the wheel and when i corrected i struck a small irrigation bridge in the on coming lane causing my truck to roll.this caused me to fracture my skull, break my neck, and be hospitilized for seven weeks.i had an engineer, who is a private consultant for goodyear, examine the photographs of my tire and sent me a report saying the tire failed due to lw air pressure.i had my tire checked by a certified ford dealership the day prior to my accident and i have proof of that.if this tire is the fault of goodyear it should be recalled before others nearly die like i did.i have two peices of the tire and the rim in my possession.the engineer said if i found the tire i may find melted nylon on the sidewall which i did find the tire.it does have melted nylon on the rubber and it is a 360 degree seperation with the inside and outside of the tire still on the rim and the tread section missing. (tiresize: 235/85r16)( dot number:tire size: 235/85r16 )

The front tires always need air, the consumer believes the tires may be mislabled (the tire says 2 ply but it should have an 8 or 10 ply rating), the tire inflation spec is 65 but the tire manufacturer has 80, the outer drivers side tire has a buldge and upon further inspection there are numerous cracks in the tire sidewall which appears to be dry rot (general gripper lt235/85r16). Front left aluminum wheel cracked, causing the tire to leak air.

I nearly died as a result of a front, passenger tire that failed causing my vehicle to leave the roadway after i tried to correct after the blowout. I struck the end of an irrigation bridge and rolled my truck, breaking my neck, fracturing my skull and being hospitilized for seven weeks.i had a private engineer who is a consultant for goodyear look at the photographs of my tire and give a report that it was a failure due to running low on air.i had my tire pressure checked 1 day prior to the accident and have proof of that.i found two parts of the tire and the wheel recently and as the engineer said i would find melt nylon on the sidewall, i did find melted nylon.i have the two pieces of the tirein my possession. Dt:the consumer purchased a ford f350 extended cab dually in 1999. Three years ago the tire cable that holds the spare tire underneath the vehicle brokewhile pulling into a driveway.the consumer took vehicle to dealership and they replaced the spare tire cable free of charge.the dealer had no explanation as to why it happened.since purchase the spare tire had not been used or touched by anyone.recently, when at a tire shop while getting tires replaced and an oil change the serviceman noted there was no sparetireunderneath the vehicle.the cable was again broken.the consumer was not aware of this, and did not know when the spare tire cable broke.the consumer contacted ford dealer, but the warranty expired and the dealer would not replacethe spare tire cable.the consumer contacted ford customer service, and they too declined to offer any assistance.the consumer felt this was a safety issue because the spare tire cable could break on these vehicles, causing an accident or injury to others.

While changing a tire consumer noticed that the spare tire carrying device cablefrayed.this could have caused the cable tosnap and the spare tireto fall out into traffic while driving.

The ford f350 1995 thru 2003 models have the signal turning arm attached to the steering column just above the left knee. When giving a left turn signal the left leg is in the way to turn the signal light on. The left turn signal can be turned on with the left leg lowered in a very awkward fashion and the bright lights activated, this is not very safe driving with the bright lights activated while waiting to turn on a two lane highway or at a stop sign at a four way stop. When giving a left hand turn signal with the lights on dim the left leg pushes the turn signal off every time leaving a person on a level road stopped in the street with no brake lights activated and no turn signal operation unless sometimes he has his bright lights on with oncoming traffic and is holding their left leg at a very awkward position .when turning on a upward incline hill, riding the clutch to keep the truck still while waiting then this is for sure no left signal will be working due to this keeping the left leg high on the clutch .i have written and called a lot of ford dealers to address this problem and they said with no recall then big deal!!~.i was told to just keep my brights on all the time . I just wanted a new turn signal arm that was turned up instead of turned down towards my left leg. If the turn signal was straight like most cars then plenty of room is available!who let this slip by?

Truck's two front aluminum wheels have cracked and will not hold air. They could come apart at anytime. The cause of the crack has yet to be determined. The dealership has been notified.*phthe crack is completely around the spoke to the inside. Vehicle was never in a accident. Consumer noted only one wheel was stuck in the mud up to the hub cap but that wheel isn't cracked. *ph

The tire on my truck kept leaking air down over a whole day. I would refill with air the next morning and would try and find where the leak was. Could not find any whole in the tire. When the service station took the wheel off the truck and put air into the tire we could hear air leaking out. We then located a crack in the aluminum wheel. We then located a second crack in the aluminum wheel. We then contacted a junk yard ( d&d, newcomers) about purchasing a used aluminum wheel ford part # f 81a1007gb, both said that they do not sell this used wheel due to a manufacturing defect. We they ask if we could purchase a refurbished aluminum wheel and both again said that no one would refurbish the front part due to defect. I have contacted ford motor company and the local ford dealer hagerstown ford service manager and they said that they know of no defect. We replaced the aluminum wheel with a new ford aluminum wheel part # 4c3z1007kacp. I own a 99 ford f-350 dual wheel truck.

1)event leading up to the failure:nothing noted.2)failure and its consequences:the stock alloy front wheel on my ford pickup has developed cracks and looses air. Visiting my local les schwab tire store, i was advised and shown where they had found multiple cracks and this now presents a safety issue in that this wheel cannot be run with a tube or repaired, but would have to be replaced.3)what was done to correct the failure:the spare tire/wheel was rotated in its place.no long term replacement has been acquired as of yet. 1999, super duty, 4x4, dually, w/7.3 liter diesel - front wheel.
