When u turn on passenger side air bag the radio does not work when u turn it off the traction control light comes on and abs system warning light comes on , the blue tooth stopped working all together no matter which position air pass air bag switch is in.

At 89,000 approx. Miles, the clock spring in the steering failed and all buttons became useless on the wheel. The mechanic states it must be repaired asap as this will cause the airbag to either not deploy or randomly deploy while driving. This was a recall on f150s and should be a recall on the f250 as well since this is extremely dangerous for myself as well as other drivers. Due to it 'not' being a recall, i was told by ford they just had a bad run of vehicles around that time and since it hasn't been recalled then we would just have to pay for the repair over $500 to ensure my safety, but the new ones supposedly are much better. Ed sherling ford claimed they just built bad vehicles then and had lots of electrical and safety issues. Sounds like the oversight authority failed to do its job with domestic vehicles. Probably why most people want foreign vehicles instead as they're held to a higher standard with better oversight that laid back union bosses in yachts pretending to handle their business here in the states. Sad america can't build a decent vehicle anymore. We were once the greatest, but now... We gotta get it cheap to ensure an 8 figure salary for some. Absolutely pathetic this was missed in such an expensive vehicle.

The truck went to limp mode for 3 sec then shut off. My son was driving and it shut of on a busy 4 lane road with nowhere to go ,no power steering ,brakes ,no motor nothing. Let it be known and i am coping this letter. This could be very hazardous even deadly. I hope something is done before it kills someone or multiple people. The vehicle was in motion when it happend.

The contact owns a 2011 ford f-250. The contact stated that after the ignition key was turned to the on position, the vehicle failed to start without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the fuel injection control module wire harness needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact owns a 2011 ford f-250. While driving 45 mph, the vehicle shook and stalled. The steering wheel became difficult to turn and the brakes failed. The vehicle had a full tank of fuel. The vehicle took awhile to restart. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was unable to be diagnosed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 40,000.

Purchased 2mth ago. Would not start.replaced batteries. 4 wks later "pull over safety" on & shut down on a windy road at 6pm.vehicle towed to auto place. $1500 fix electrical problem.1 mth later it does it again down busy freeway almost causing near collisions.toad again.fixed and same afternoon pulling out to state highway and same signal to pull over comes on & vehicle shuts down & backing up 5pm traffic before being towed again.

The vehicle caught fire while parked.the fire originated within the engine compartment at or around the master cylinder and wiring harness area as it enters the firewall.the vehicle was completely destroyed in the fire.

My egt sensor in my truck went out that has to do with emissions this is the first one i've had to pay for but they have replaced another before warranty ran out. These sensors are faulty.

Re: the death wobble we have a 2011 ford f250 super duty diesel pick up with less than 20,000 miles. It is like new, but has developed a serious mechanical defect.ford motor company has tried up to (11) eleven fixes for this life threatening problem with no success. None of these "fixes" apply on this pick up. Now since the pick up is older than 3 yrs. Even with such low mileage they want us to pay for "trying" out more possible fixes that have currently been unsuccessful for all these ford 250 & 350 pick ups.this should be at the ford motor company's expense.the bottom line, it should be bought back by ford since it is not yet proven to be fixable.problem:the "death wobble" as described on the internet. (see website below). This occurs anytime these ford super duty 250 or 350 pickups reach 20k miles. This occurs when driving over 40 miles per hour if at anytime a bump, rough road, or pothole in the road is hit.the operator looses control of the vehicle. This vehicle is worse than the internet video as confirmed by the bend oregon ford dealership.applying the brakes makes it worse. It has to be allowed to slow down on its own. The vibration is so violent it takes all ones strength to keep it on the road. It's one of the more frightening experiences you'll encounter behind the wheel. The vehicle is shaking so badly you think it'll fall apart and that you're going to die. That's why it's called death wobble. Death wobble

Our lady of the lakes road in st. Martin parish, louisiana, is a curvy road. The "service advance track and hill descent control, check engine light and break light" came on. The "!" and the "abs" light came on. Break pedal was hard to depress, while in motion. Fire started under the hood and burnt front seats and engine on

The contact owns a 2011 ford f-250. While driving 60 mph, the vehicle vibrated, emitted a knocking noise, and the engine emitted smoke. The contact was able to coast onto the shoulder of the roadway. The vehicle was towed to an unknown dealer to be diagnosed and a failure code for the engine valve was detected. The dealer informed the contact that the engine needed to be replaced. The engine was not replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vin was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 146,000.

While driving at 35 mph on city street "stop safely now" appeared on the dash screen.within a few second the vehicle shut down, which eliminated the power brakes and steering, while still at 35 mph. This made the vehicle difficult to control and stop.vehicle would not restart, luckily i was able to pull into a parking lot and out of traffic.this turned out to be any egt sensor failure.

With absolute zero notice a cylinder misfired which caused the crank shaft to break and the engine to blow. We maintained this vehicle very regularly and never had any issues.

Driving through my neighborhood at approximately 30mph.less than a mile from my house, vehicle displays warning to stop vehicle safely.i began to turn into a driveway so that i could turn around and head back home and the vehicle shut down.my truck was now blocking the roadway and a person's driveway at the only entrance to the subdivision during the morning commute hours.i shut the truck off, and tried to re-start it, but it would not re-start.the vehicle would not shift into neutral so that i could push it out of the roadway.i had to call a tow truck to haul the vehicle to the dealership.the dealership said it was a faulty sensor.(this was the second indecent for me involving a faulty engine sensor.)i have spent more that $300 fixing sensors that should not fail.leaving me stranded in the middle of a roadway, blocking traffic.i am just thankful it was in a subdivision and not on a highway.

When stationary exhaust fumes are drawn into cab of truck by the air handling system. This is an ongoing problem.

Stop safely now came on in display. Continued driving until i came to a stop light. When i slowed to stop and slowed to 3 mph the vehicle shut down in 5 pm traffic. Had it towed to home where it started the next am. Attempted to drive it to the dealership under the advisement of the service writer and it shut down again 2 miles from home. Had to wait on a tow again to the dealership. One of the four egt exhaust sensors had failed. Dealer told me it is a known issue with these trucks.

The truck that i own has no accidents, no damages, 75k miles on it and the radiator is prematurely failing.this coolant leak on the lower driver's side is a reoccurring issue with this model vehicle and would cause the engine to overheat. Ford is aware of the issue and has refused to recall the part.

"takata recall" while driving down road, vehicle went into reduce speed mode. When slowed down, engine shut off and would not start.

Our first f150 ecoboost purchased in july 2011 was taken by ford as a lemon. The replacement truck provided in november 2011 has the same issues. While driving in rain on a freeway our v6 ecoboost f150 truck engine starts to shudder, shake and then rapidly lose power while driving at highway speeds. Then the engine completely shuts down when accelerating. Our vehicle barely made it to the side of the road where it stopped running. After letting it sit for a few minutes the engine was restarted. Although the engine worked the truck continued to shudder and shake with limited ability to accelerate for the remainder of the 3 hour drive. Over a period of many months the problem recurred many times, almost always when driving in the rain. The problem was even worse while driving in the rain and towing a boat trailer. The problem is especially horrific when towing a trailer and driving in the mountains in the rain. The problem also occurs no matter then weather when driving through the mountains of kentucky, tennessee and northern georgia. The truck is totally undependable. Although the truck has been in the dealership for repairs the problem is not fixed! on top of the loss of power, a life threatening situation when driving in traffic on any road especially a freeway, the miles per gallon has never been higher than 18mpg when driving on a freeway at 55mph (confirmed by a ford mechanic) significantly below the product advertisement by ford. To date after multiple times in the ford dealership repair shop the problem has not been fixed.

Started vehicle and drove about 1/4 mile and warning came on to find a safe place to pull over. Check engine light came on. Soon as i slowed down and stopped the engine shut off. Had to have it towed to dealer. Was told it was a bad sensor.something to do with egr/ oil pressure. This is second time this happen. Previous time was while driving through town, stopped at a red light and truck shut off for overheating. Again had to tow it in, and again was a bad sensor sensing the truck had overheated. Nothing wrong with the truck either time except sensor.

Driving the car at 50 miles per hour on a highway, the message "pull over safely now" came on,within 10 seconds the engine and subsequently steering shut itself down.there was no place to pull over except for a turn out lane. I bought this car to pull my 2 horse trailer and drive on interstate for long road trips.i drive at night since that is easier on my horses. If the engine and steering can shut itself down going at 75 miles per hour on interstate, 10 seconds is not a safe enough time to pull over when carrying a live animal load.i was told the sensor was bad and needed to be replaced. The vehicle is completely unsafe for what it was designed to do.no piece of mind driving and towing with a vehicle that can shut itself down without adequate warning due to bad sensors within 10 seconds. Extremely dangerous! apparently the sensors on these vehicles go out on a regular basis, it's just a matter of time until someone gets killed due to a $50 failed sensor and the engine shutting itself down and lost steering control.dealers i have talked to are very familiar with this issue but say they can't do anything until engine shuts itself down. Dealers say it's random and unpredictable when egt sensor will fail.some of the sensors are covered under warranty, but engine needs to shut down before dealer will fix it! insane.i have a friend whose wife died on the freeway in an accident caused by a similar issue on her vehicle before it was declared a recall. I believe that the sensor issue on the ford 250 will lead to similar situations.it's time this is looked into before lives are lost.

The vehicle took awhile to restart. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was unable to be diagnosed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 40,000.

While going up the highway the message of " stop safely now" was displayed. Once pulling over to stop the truck died and would not start back. Had to have it towed to a dealership. Turns out the egt exhaust gas temperature sensor was faulty. This seems to be a very common issue.

Driver was piloting vehicle through turn at intersection fully loaded with salt and a snow plow.vehicle dash display read shut down vehicle safely and then immediately shut the vehicle down.truck was stranded impeding traffic for 40 minutes until a good samaritan was able to pull it back out of the intersection.vehicle was towed to dealer and egt exhaust temp sensor was found to be bad.the charge was $100 for the work plus the tow bill which was $113.50.this is a safety issue.i use this and another truck with the same engine (also submitted complaint for that vin) to tow and heavy haul all the time.this is not safe if it happens when traveling down hill, fully loaded and the truck shuts down.that is not safe, but in fact rather scary.

The contact owns a 2011 ford f250 sd. The contact stated that there were exhaust fumes inside the vehicle and the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was inspected by an authorized dealer and advised the contact that the cause of the failure was an obstructed exhaust gas recirculation cooler cord. The exhaust gas recirculation cooler cord was replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 9,900. The current mileage was 19,000.## vin passed ## 2011 ford super duty##

The contact owns a 2011 ford f-250. The contact stated that after coming to a stop, there was an abnormal odor coming from the radiator. The contact noticed coolant leaking from the radiator. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the radiator needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 88,000.

Pulling my fifth wheel trailer up a hill at 50mph the engine just shut down very abruptly. No alarms or lights that i saw. After letting it sit for a minute or so, put it in park and it restarted, oil temp at 240, trans: temp at 201. First time this has happened. A little over 50,000miles.

Loud metallic rapping sounds emanating from engine during cold weather start-ups. Unknown mechanical defect in motor.

Turned onto busy highway, vehicle warning chimed a few times and message center said 'stop safely now" vehicle slowed down and then shut off in the middle if an intersection with no prior warning. I had to have my wife exit the vehicle to a safe location and then have the vehicle pushed out of the intersection. I contacted a towing company to have the truck towed to a local ford shop. They diagnosed it as a failed number 4 egt sensor. Upon further investigation i have found that this is a know problem.

The truck went to limp mode for 3 sec then shut off. My son was driving and it shut of on a busy 4 lane road with nowhere to go ,no power steering ,brakes ,no motor nothing. Purchased vehicle 11-2018 have taken to two service shops engine knock. Metal in filter. Cylinder #1 low compression due to bad machining of the engine block. Vehicle non drivable.

Hold down clamps for the fuel injectors are breaking or coming loose on diesel engine. Injectors are not visible for a person to look at as they are buried by covers. Due to the injector coming loose it would allow combustion gasses to escape the cylinder causing other injectors to become damaged and possibly causing a fire. This issue has happened 2 times on my truck and both times the ford technicians stated that it is not something that should happen. Vehicle was inspected/fixed by ford dealership techs back in march of 2021 and again in may of 2021(still there at this time). A check engine light came on and i immediately drove to the dealership both times. I will provide a picture of a ford tech site where they talk about this issue happening and their internal memo. Ford at this time refuses to fix the issue and is making me pay for their defective parts.

2011 f250 6.2l engine. Truck dies randomly and will not restart for sometimes days.sometimes it starts and sometimes it doesn't.weather is not a factor, sometimes its warm sometimes its cold.very random start and no start issue.

My vehicle has experienced no power while accelerating onto a state highway.acceleration was extremely slow and created a dangerous situation in which the vehicle had to be pulled over on the shoulder immediately to move out of the way of traffic, which was very far away when i initial pulled out on the highway.this occurred multiple times and at random.the vehicle could only reach 40 mph on flat highway and while driving on mountain roads, this would decrease to a maximum speed of 20 mph.this would create a significantly dangerous situation if on was crossing an intersection with oncoming traffic. And

Truck shut down by itself. Towed truck to dealership and was told the egt exhaust gas temperature sensor went out. Discovered that ford was under investigation on a partial recall of same part for same engine for ambulance package trucks. Called ford to ask if my truck was covered and was told no even through it is the same part and the same engine as the october 2013 recall of 2011-2012 ford f 250 ambulance package vehicles equipped with a 6.7lt diesel power stroke engine.

Started engine and put vehicle in drive. Engine accelerated to max rpms and vehicle ran into a tree approx. 20 feet in front of vehicle. Engine continued to run at wot until i turned ignition off.

The vehicle caught fire while parked.the fire originated within the engine compartment at or around the master cylinder and wiring harness area as it enters the firewall.the vehicle was completely destroyed in the fire.

The contact owns a 2011 ford f-250 diesel sd. The contact stated that while driving 30 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was towed to a dealer for inspection. The dealer replaced the egt 14 sensor and a code was reset. The manufacturer was not notified of the incident. The approximate failure mileage was 29,000.

For the third time since our 2011 ford f250 (diesel) was new a faulty egt temperature sensor in the exhaust system caused the engine to shut down with essentially no warning.on the first occasion, the incident occurred in a parking lot so there was no danger of injury or property damage.the second incident occurred while underway at 70 mph on an interstate highway and we were able to pull over to the right shoulder without endangering others.the shutdown today, however, occurred as we prepared to make a left turn on a busy two lane road.fortunately the shutdown, which occurred without warning, stopped the engine before we crossed in front of oncoming traffic in the adjacent lane.in this last case there was a real possibility of serious injury and/or property damage.ford is certainly aware of the problem (we're told by dealer service personnel that the problem is common) and we've asked repeatedly if there is a fix to eliminate these unexpected incidents.nothing has been forthcoming.we believe the problem should be addressed from an engineering standpoint so that owners of similar vehicles can have confidence that these unexpected problems will reoccur and before someone is injured or killed..

Truck shut down instantly. After stop safely message. Leaving truck stranded in busy intersection. No time to pull over safely. Replaced sensor. Ford claims fire safety.and blames epa. Think software would dismiss unlikely temp fluctuations . Needs to go into limp mode. Not strand drivers in heavy traffic.for part failure.

The contact owns a 2011 ford f-250. While driving 35 mph, the engine stalled and an unknown warning light illuminated. The failure occurred twice. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The technician diagnosed that the engine egt exhaust temperature sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection where they stated that the headlights needed to be adjusted. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. The failure mileage was 14000.updated 09/26/12*ljthe consumer stated the vehicle was taken to the repair shop three times for that same problem. Updated 09/27/12

While traveling at highway speeds on the interstate the engine began to rapidly loose power.the warning light showed "reducing power".the truck quickly lost power but i was able to move it from the travel lanes as the engine completely shut down and i lost power steering and power brake functions.the truck was towed to a authorized ford dealer where it was determined that due to "contamination" in the fuel supply the fuel regulator stuck open and the engine shut down to prevent further damage.upon visual inspection by me at the dealership i examined the metal portion of the fuel regulator which had rust like corrosion on it due to moisture in the fuel.ford's position is that the moisture in the diesel fuel is "contamination" and therefore caused the problem.the system has two in line filters one of which is specifically designed to separate water from the fuel because diesel fuel has a certain moisture content in it.ford will not warranty the repair and is recommending a complete replacement of the fuel system or the remaining warranty will be voided.the repair is estimated to be in the $10,000 to $12,000 range.my understanding is that ford(as well as other automakers that use the bosch fuel systems) has many complaints related to fragility of this diesel fuel system and that it was recommended to me to file a complaint with the nhtsa.i am able to provide more specific details as required. Please contact me with any questions.

The def tank continues to throw a check engine light warning.according to the dealer ford knows about the problem and there is no current fix to the issue. My def tank was replaced with a unit off another vehicle on the lot and was told that i could be left stranded if the light continues to stay on.san tan ford had no fix for the problem until ford release a fix and according to the service manager there are 120 people waiting for tanks.how can ford continue to sell these f250's if the def tanks are not working and leave the vehicle out of working order.this is a serious safety issue if the vehicle disables itself at anytime due to this problem! there needs to be some pressure put on ford to get these vehicles in working order and people should be made aware of this problem if they are spending over $50,000 on a new vehicle that may at anytime stop working with no fix available.need to recall asap, people all over the forums are complaining of the issue and removing these pollution equipment to have their vehicles working correctly.not good business ford!

The contact owns a 2011 ford f-250. While driving approximately 55 mph, the vehicle lost power and the instrument panel indicators illuminated. The vehicle was towed to lone star ford (8477 north fwy, houston, tx 77037) where it was diagnosed that the high injection fuel pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and opened a case. The failure mileage was 84,615. The vin was not available.

The contact owns a 2011 ford f-250. The contact experienced an unknown failure related to the fuel injection. The vehicle was towed to willowbrook ford (7301 kingery hwy, willowbrook, il 60527) where it was diagnosed that the fuel injection hold down bracket fractured. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 82,000. The vin was not provided. The consumer stated one bracket under extended warranty was fixed but not the rest. Vin provided. Updated 12/13/18

Truck started getting bad fuel mileage and would not get up to speed very fast took truck to autozone and had codes read was reading p20bd and p20be so looked up vin and it stated it had a recall on the def reductant heater which where the codes pulled up called and scheduled an appointment for it to get fixed at yaklin ford in rich wood texas took it in for the recall and now they are trying to say it's not covered on recall and now when i look up my vin the recall is gone what can i do truck only has 95000 miles

The contact owns a 2011 ford f-250. While driving 45 mph, the vehicle lost power without warning. The contact was able to coast the vehicle to the side of the road and power of the engine. The vehicle failed to restart and was towed to a repair shop where it was diagnosed that the fuel pressure pump blew out under the hood. The mechanic stated that the entire fuel system needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and did not assist. The dealer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 119,000.

Due to faulty/snapped injector clamp, ford tsb 14-0233, a fuel injector was blown out of my engine an sprayed fuel all over the engine bay. Fortunately for me i had just started the truck in my driveway so it was stationary and not hot.

Fuel system failed, filter housing split open before service interval, diesel fuel sprayed over entire engine, no fire but it could have caught on fire.

2011 ford f250 with 6.7 liter diesel engine blew a fuel injector due to a broken hold down clamp. While being repaired, mechanic noticed two other clamps were cracked and they were replaced by upgraded clamps from ford. Engine has 62k miles on it. Writer has seen numerous posts online from other owners with the same issue.

Driving on freeway at 65 mph motor shut down. After taking it to the shop i was informed that the fuel pump had failed. I was told by the service writher that a number of the fuel pumps has failed on trucks like mine. Cost to fix $8,400.00!!!

I had a fuel pump to malfunction causing the entire fuel system to be replace on my 2011 ford f 250 at a cost of almost $8000. This is unbelievable i contact my insurance provider and the adjuster said this if a common problem on this make and model. There has to be something wrong for type of repair to be a common thing. Who can afford to pay for a repair like with the cost this truck and insurance. Please call me at [xxx] [xxx]. My vehicle is currently at landers ford 2082 w polplar ave., collierville, tn 38017. I feel if ford is aware of this why is there a not a recall for this to be corrected. We can't afford to pay for this kind of repair cost.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).'

My 2011 f-250 diesel wouldn't start 2 weeks ago and after having it towed found it to be the h.p.f.p had torn itself apart and put metal shavings in the entire fuel system.it was stationary at the time but i believe it was out of sheer luck that i wasn't on the interstate.this is a recurring problem that this year and model have, but ford will not acknowledge it as a problem other than to put a kit together for the consumer when this happens to simplify the ordering process.this is a danger to my family and anyone else on the road if my vehicle suddenly stalls and loses all power.this is a frequent enough occurrence to warrant an investigation in my opinion for the thousands of affected ford diesel owners.

Started engine and put vehicle in drive. Engine accelerated to max rpms and vehicle ran into a tree approx. 20 feet in front of vehicle. Engine continued to run at wot until i turned ignition off.

Fuel filter exploded contaminating fuel system

The contact owns a 2011 ford f-250. The contact stated that while refueling, fuel would spew back out of the filler neck without any warnings making it extremely difficult to fill the fuel tank. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician diagnosed that the fuel vapor canister and air filter failed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 170,000.

The contact owns a 2011 ford f-250. While driving at 15 mph, the clamp used to secure the high pressure fuel line leading to the fuel injector fractured causing a fuel leak. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the fractured clamp was replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 45,000.

Takata recall. Truck just shut down and died while driving. We tried to restart to move better location and only worked for few more feet.no warnings and whole fuel system has metal shavings in it and costing 11,000 to repair and ford not recalling or covering any of the repair when they know this is an issue causing wrecks and even a distaster kit online for the problem with ford trucks from 2011-2015. We have spoke with mutliple repair shops and our insurance and it is mechanical failure and happens alot with ford and not a recall nor is ford helping out customers that the mechanical failure is happening too. We only have 100,000 miles diseal truck and do all our maintence needed and ford dealership stated as mechanical failure.

After engine is warmed up, when you slow down, there is a few seconds, 3 to 5, that the truck will not speed up. This problem continues as long as you are in slow down and speed up traffic. If you are turning left the speed up time can be 3 to 8 seconds. I have carried truck back to the dealer several times with this problem. I have been told at these times that they can not duplicate what i have told them.this problem has almost caused a accident several, several times. I have explained to the service manager several times about this problem and there is steel no fix for this problem.i believe that if this problem is not fixed that i will be in a accident.

The contact owns a 2011 ford f-250 sd. The contact stated that while traveling 66 mph, the vehicle shook violently and there was loss of acceleration power. The vehicle was able to be driven to the contact's residence and was later taken to an authorized dealer where the failure could not be duplicated.later while traveling 35 mph, the vehicle began to wobble uncontrollably, causing the vehicle to veer to the left abnormally. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired however, the failure recurred several times. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 4,000 and the current mileage was 59,306.

While driving downhill on a road in nh, at approximately 60 mph, my automatic transmission suddenly down shifted from 6th gear to 4th gear and then within 2 seconds then downshifted to 2nd gear causing sudden and swift reduction in speed. No engine warning lights were displayed.roads were dry and no one was immediately behind me.i brought it to the dealer and they said they downloaded the most current patches for my transmission software.about 2 weeks later (8/27/11) the same thing happened.again, going downhill about 60 mph, automatic downshift from 6th to 4th to 2nd with no warning. No engine warning lights were displayed this time either.dealer is reluctantly looking at it again, hopefully this week.they wanted to look at it next week, but i fear for my safety and the safety of my family.this strikes me as an accident waiting to happen.they said there were no bulletins for my transmission.they wanted it to happen again so i could be more specific about whether or not i was accelerating or not.i did not feel they were taking it seriously enough, so i had to escalate the service manager's decision to have it looked at more quickly. I am even more reluctant to drive it in inclement weather, even rain.

Our 2011 ford f250 truck is down shifting extremely hard from 3rd gear to 1st gear (automatic transmission) when braking. It shifts so hard that the seat belts will lock up and it will bark the tires almost as if you had slammed on brakes. We have had several times that we have been almost rear ended by cars behind us when slowing down and the sudden shift occurs. We have spoken to several mechanics who have told us they have heard this same issue from other customers with f250 trucks.

When driving the 6 speed transmission has a terrible shift from 3 to 4 and whenever you are driving at hwy speeds in 6th gear and push the gas pedal to go a little faster in will sometimes downshift into 1st gear

The contact owns a 2011 ford f-250. While driving approximately 60 mph, the vehicle intermittently lost power and shut down. The traction control and traction sensor indicators illuminated. The vehicle was restarted, but the failure recurred. The dealer was not called and the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 220,000. The vin was not provided.

Was traveling at 70mph on the highway when my 2011 f250 xlt super cab suddenly shifted from 6th gear into 1st gear causing a loss of control and the truck to spin out. The truck is a 6.2l with a 6 speed automatic transmission.

The contact owns a 2011 ford f-250. While attempting to merge onto the interstate the vehicle hesitated and the gear would not shift into second or third gear causing the transmission to shift with greater force, and the rear wheels to lock. The vehicle was taken to the dealer numerous times for the failure. The dealers diagnostic test indicated that the transmission was sending incorrect signals. The transmission computer was reprogrammed several times. The failure was not corrected and the vehicle continued to hesitate while attempting to shift gears. The manufacturer filed a report. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 200 and the current mileage was 9,500.

The contact owns a 2011 ford f-250. The contact stated that while the vehicle parked and on for approximately 15 minutes, there was an abnormal popping noise and the vehicle immediately began to roll away into a frozen lake. The vehicle went through the ice and began sinking. The contact stated that the vehicle was towed from the scene and taken to an independent mechanic where the contact was awaiting inspection to determine the cause of the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 82,000.

The truck randomly goes into neutral for very extended amount of time and and has no throttle control during while stander-ed driving. The truck only has 61000 miles on it just out of warranty and i have contacted ford. And they do not help

The contact owns a 2011 ford f-250. The contact stated that he shifted into drivefrom reverse and the vehicle continued to drive in reverse. The contact shut the vehicle off and it operated as normal upon restart. The failure recurred approximately one year later and the contact crashed into a mailbox. No injuries were reported. In addition, the contact stated that the vehicle would intermittently begin accelerating from stops in fifth gear when the vehicle was supposed to be in first gear. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer and they were unable to diagnose the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 1,700.

The contact owns a 2011 ford f-250. While driving 35 mph, the vehicle slowed down and the rear passenger and driver side wheels seized. In addition, the transmission warning indicator illuminated. The dealer diagnosed that the transmission was losing line pressure and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vin was included in nhtsa campaign number: 16v248000 (power train). The contact stated that the vehicle would not accelerate past 35-40 mph. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 133,600.updated 06/29/17*lj*as

The driver's seat belt no longer functions.the seat belt can not be buckled.when the metal belt tongue is inserted into the buckle, it will not latch.the latch seems to be jammed.our family owns four similar model ford super duties and this problem has occurred on two other of the trucks' seat belts.this is a serious safely issue and appears to be a vehicle defect.we have notified ford motor company and they said no recall exists so were not willing to assist in correcting the issue.the needs to be addressed immediately.

Seat belt will not stay latched sitting still or in motion. This is an unacceptablefailure.

My 2011 f250 super duty has shook since the first time i had it at highway speeds. At speeds between 60-75mph it shakes to the point where its uncomfortable to drive. The passenger seat shakes, sometimes worse than others. No matter what the dealer does to the wheels it does not change. They have rotated, rebalanced, swapped with another new truck, checked alignment and no change.

The left rear brake gets hot and smokes and wont release.we took it to our ford dealership while it was still under warranty.they drove it and said there was nothing wrong with it.we've had to replace the brakes on that tire only now 3 times.each time the brakes are completely worn through the metal, the rotor has had to be replaced as well as the calipers.again this has only happened with the left rear tire.the other tires have the original brakes on them.something has been wrong with this tire since the truck was brand new.

I was driving on the interstate and hit a bump in the road and the steering wheel was shaking uncontrollably, brakes barely worked while trying to pull off the road.at first i thought that my tires were about to come off my truck, the shaking was so bad that items in the seat ended up on the floorboard of the truck.while trying to get the truck to stop and off the interstate i was almost rear ended by an 18 wheeler.

I can not get this soft break to go away!it never had a solid break but i bought it used and figured it needed a break job. I had calipers to start locking up one after the other within a couple days of each other, so i replace them all.then the new ones started getting hot.so i replace all the break lines and master cylinder.after all that i still have a very soft break, almost as if there is air in the lines. I know air can't be the issue because the break system was bleed using a machine. Now after doing research online i have come across a lot of people talking about this exact issue.this needs to get fixed, there is no way to tell when you are actually having break issue come up because they feel spongy when they are working at there best.

Rear brake line (steel) ruptured resulting in complete loss of brakes at all four wheels.the brake line was routed to close to the gas tank resulting in the line rubbing on the gas tank.overtime, the coating on the line failed and then the exposed bare metal rusted.when the metal became to thin, the pressure in the line ruptured the brake line at the thin/rusted location.all brake fluid leaked out and the brakes no longer worked.the vehicle was in motion when the brakes failed on a city street.if the vehicle had been assembled so that the brake lines could not contact the gas tank, this failure would have been prevented.

The contact owns a 2011 ford f-250.while driving approximately 50 mph, the brakes failed and the brake pedal traveled to the floor when fully applied.as a result, the contact crashed into a bridge abutment.there were no injuries.the vehicle was towed to the contact's residence and was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing.the manufacturer was not notified of the failure.the vin was not available.the approximate failure mileage was 48,000.

The contact owns a 2011 ford f-250. While driving over 60 mph, the vehicle shook and the steering wheel locked. While the brake pedal was depressed, the vehicle shook uncontrollably. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer (koons silver spring ford, 3111 automobile blvd, silver spring, md 20904 (301) 890-6100) where it was diagnosed that the ball joint, brake pads, and stabilizer bar needed to be replaced. Also, fluid was leaking on the shocks and the strut needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failures recurred. The manufacturer was not notified of the failures. The failure mileage was 58,100.

Death wobble.severe steering wheel and tires shaking on the front.

When traveling at highway speeds, if my truck hits a ridge or bump in road, it starts shaking violently up and down.i slow down and fight the wheel to get the truck to the side of the road.so far, this has happened approximately 18 times.most of the time, it stops shaking as i slow down.twice it stopped shaking after i crossed traffic to get to edge of road to stop.very scary!the first time it happened, it bounced up & down so hard, it pulled the wheel out of my hands.as i gently braked to slow down, it stopped bouncing up and down, but then started up again when i hit the next expansion seam on the road.this happened about 6 times on my way to work that day.i was driving approximately 30 mph in the right lane to get to work in a 65 mph zone because i was scared to go faster.traffic was zooming around me and honking. The vertical shaking didn't happen again for about 3 months although i traveled the same highway with the same bumps and the same speed (gritting my teeth).my mechanic examined the truck 2 days after the first round of incidents and found no problems with the front end, steering, or shocks.nothing was loose, broken, or out of specs.i informed ford.com about the problem and was told to take the vehicle to the dealer.all of the discussion groups said that the dealers could not fix the problem.there seems to be no recall for this incredibly frightening problem.i have always owned ford trucks (last truck is a 1996 f250 that was a wonderful truck - still have it). As background, there are several videos of this happening on youtube with several discussion groups talking about this problem.the "death wobble" shown in the videos is the same thing i experienced.

Traveling on interstate onramp getting up to speed and at approximately 50 mph hit a small bump and front end started to shake violently to the point i had to slow to 30 mph for it to stop almost causing accident.accelerated up to 75 mph again with no issue. Approximately 3 miles after the first incident i went across a bridge and the bump at bridge transition caused the truck to again violently shake until i slowed down to 30mph.no modifications to the vehicle suspension.truck has 112000 miles. Dealer says nothing wrong even though it happened while testing it.it does not happen everytime i hit a bump.but it does happen 2-3 times per month

At 125,000 miles, i began to experience the "death wobble".hitting a rough spot on the highway, especially on a curve, the truck will randomly begin to shake.it begins in the front, shakes the steering wheel violently until i am able to slow down enough to stop it.i have replaced front stabilizer (steering damper), drag link, tie rod end, alignment, tire rotation, track bar bushing, ball joint, tie rods and another alignment.it still will randomly start to shake violently after i have hit a rough spot and especially ina curve at highway speeds.i cannot find anything else to replace.i have had two different mechanics work on the vehicle and we have together searched the web for other cures, but there are none to be found.it is not safe to drive my truck on the highway...the shaking becomes so violent that i become a traffic hazard and do not have enough control of the vehicle to handle it safely.the most recent event was today, 3/5/2019 but it has been happening, in between stays at the mechanic, since november.

When hitting a bump or pot hole at highway speed the front tires wobble uncontrollably until you all but stop. This could catch someone off guard to crash into someone on the highway.

After hitting a bump in the highway the front suspension on our 2011 ford f250 4x4 pickup began to shake violently.i had to apply the brakes and slow down to about 40 miles per hour to get the shaking to stop.after this incident, the death wobble occurred again several times.i took the vehicle back to the ford dealership and they replaced the track bar bushing and ball joints at a cost to me of about $400.now 3,000 miles after the repair was done by ford the death wobble has occurred again.the violent shaking of the front suspension and steering is a huge safety concern and could easily cause the driver to lose control of the vehicle.also having to quickly slow the vehicle down 30 or 40 mph to get the front suspension to stop wobbling could easily cause an rear end accident leading to casualties.

While driving at 70 mph on the interstate, after hitting a small bump in the road, the front end of my 2011 f250 fx4 diesel began violently. I had to pull onto the median and slow to less than 20 mph to make it stop. This has been an ongoing problem, and, although i have brought the vehicle in for service, changing the shocks and steering stabilizer, i still have the same issues.

I have an f-250 super duty fx4.the truck only has 15,000 miles and last year in oct, 2012 the truck had a violent shimmy in the front end at 9,000 miles.this occurred on two different occasions and i took the truck to the dealer and they replaced the steering stabilizer and the problem was fixed for about a year.the truck has started this shaking again.this has occurred three different times in the last month.this happens if i change lanes that are uneven at about 35-40 mph and will also happen at speeds greater than 60 mph if the road is a bit bumpy.it is very scary and the truck is uncontrollable until the shaking stops.

Almost killed me and my family from death wobble on the highway.truck violently shakes when bumps are hit going over 50mph.extreme safety hazard. Hit a bump on i-25 and shook across 3 lanes of traffic.this is about 6 times since i bought the vehicle and the dealer says there are no issues with the truck. I know 8 ford owners with the exact same issue.

When traveling over 50 mph when my vehicle hits a bump, i get a "death wobble" where the front end shakes uncontrollably.the only option that i have is to slow the vehicle down to 35 or below to get it to stop.i've come close to either losing control or getting hit from behind on several occasions.i can replicate this event by going over different bumps in the road.i have re-aligned my vehicle, replaced the brake system, installed a new steering dampner, rotors, etc, to no avail. Ford dealerships play stupid and act as if there's no problem, i've taken it to multiple mechanics and they insist that it's faulty parts within the steering and suspension.would like to have it repaired if possible, but don't have a lot of options as to what the true cause is.please advise as to whether or not you have any other complaints .this has been an ongoing issue since i purchased the vehicle new in 2011.it has only gotten worse as it gets older.

Front end shimmy that is felt in the steering while moving at highway speeds.

Driving 60 - 65mph,when i ran over dips or bumps in the hwy my steering wheel and front end started shaking and shimming violently and it was extremely difficult to maintain control of the steering wheel. I did not apply brakes but did take foot off gas pedal and when truck speed reached 40mph violent shakes stopped. This is not an isolated incident however it does not always happen over all bumps or dips. It just happened today feb-19 2017 when we were pulling our horse trailer at a speed of 62mph. This truck only has 50,200 miles so itshould not be worn out. I can not believe that the ford engineers do not know about this problem since it is so dangerous and could cause someone to loose control which would bedisastrous when pulling a horse trailer like we do. I will take it to the ford dealer however i bet they will charge me hundreds of dollars to try to fix whatever ails this truck which i believe is unfair since ford hires top engineers to build safe trucks.

While driving on straight roads, if you encounter rough road surface (construction, pothole, etc) steering and front end of the vehicle begins to oscillate violently. It is almost like the oscillation creates a harmonic frequency that increases the intensity to a degree that the vehicle must be slowed or stopped to recover.

The contact owns a 2011 ford f-250. While driving 75 mph, the steering wheel was turned left and right, but the wheels turned to the opposite direction. The vehicle was towed to the dealer. The technician diagnosed that the steering box failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 50,500. ...updated 06/03/15updated 7/7/2015updated 10/05/2017

Ford f-250 crewcab with no aftermarket parts & ford recommended rims/tires: a month ago i noticed wobbling/shaking similar to the described 'death wobble'. Placed truck in for service and a recommendation for a solution. While driving over 50 mph and the vehicle runs over bump on the highway, the steering wheel and truck will shake violently. As this so called death wobble occurs i will coast over to the emergency lane and coast to a stop. I have noticed vehicles behind me slow down quickly and i am assuming they are see truck shake violently, too. If other drivers are seeing this death wobble occurring i am wondering if these drivers are taking emergency avoidance actions which could cause an accident to others. How safe are f-250/f-350 to be on the road? the pickup has been the shop twice for repairs and now i need to contact the shop again for third recommendation. All of the ford recommendations have been completed but the death wobble returns again in less than 60 miles. I cannot sell the pick-up because i know the pick-up has the death wobble. 'so now i am stuck with a pick-up that cannot be driven on the highway.please post any suggestions/recommendations for a repair for the death wobble.thank you for your help

The contact owns a 2011 ford f250. The contact stated that while driving approximately 60 mph, the vehicle shook violently without warning. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the technician diagnosed that the shimmy shocks, steering gear, pitman arm, ball joints, and tie rods needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 75,000 and the current mileage was 80,000.

While driving at freeway speed hit pothole and truck began to shake violently. Pulled of the freeway to inspect and everything looked ok. Got back onto freeway and crossed over a bridge and the same violent shake happened until i slowed down to about 40 mph. Dropped truck off at dealer on way home from work.

Truck has excessive wobble at highway speeds causing loss of control. Death wobble. New tires, track bar, tie rod ends have been installed and front end adjusted to ford bulletin with no solution of correcting the issue. This issue started in august 2018 and has been in the dealership several times for corrections. The truck was in the shop again last week with the same issue.

Experience death wobble every time i merge onto the highway. Results in loss of control and is very hard to control and maintain in my lane.

Death wobble.as i was accelerating to enter freeway traffic my right front wheel hit a pot hole on the on ramp.i was doing approximately 50 mph.the truck immediately went into a wobble that was almost un-controllable.i was able to slow my truck and drive to the shoulder of the freeway.i inspected the front end, tires, shocks, steering dampener (which were new) and did not find any problems.

Speed approximately 55 on curve, truck front end began to violently shimmy and wobble to point of loss of control.destroyed front rotors, brake shoes, and master brake cylinder as per pep boys repair receipt.repeated after repair at same speed.truck has 50,000 miles, very little off road mileage.internet research indicates other drivers' instances with this model truck as "death wobble".

Death wobble!dealership has replaced ball joint, bushing, new tires, some connecting rod ' still happens!!!this is going to kill me or somebody!!! it happens at 70 mph and above. This is all over the internet ' ford knows about it; they just haven't fixed it.

In fast lane west of nashville on interstate 40. Hit a minor area of rough road and the steering started shaking violently left and right.slowed agressively but had no where to go with semi trucks all around me.i still can't believe i didn't cause a major accident.at approx 30 mph the shaking stopped and i was able to accelerate back to cruise speed.i have driven the truck 9000 miles and this is the first time this has happened but i am very concerned about it happening again.

My husband was driving through a road construction work zone when suddenly the steering wheel started shaking violently and jumped out of his hands . He lost control of the truck . The other drivers were able to compensate for the out of control truck and an accident was avoided . I went on to research this issue . I found a forum with many others having the same issue . My husband took it to the local dealership where they say they have no knowledge of such issues . They told him it was poor tire pressure or out of alignment . My husband had both checked and there was no problem . I fear it is just a matter of time before there is a severe accident due to this issue . The others say the vehicle continues to do the" death wobble" as it has been coined online. Please have someone look into this problem . I have also emailed ford motor company .

2011 ford 250 diesel has been in for front end service(front end alignments) and excessive scalloping of tires four times. Two dealerships have expressed concern over the severity of the tires. The truck continues to pull to the right and the front end has started to shake/wobble after hitting a bump.

Vehicle in motion at 60 to 65 mph on smooth public cityhighway when the vehicle began shaking uncontrollably particularly in the front end. Steering became difficult to control and although i immediately began to brake and attempt to keep it from the median or ditch the vehicle didn't cease the uncontrollable shaking until i came to a near stop off the edge of the highway. It continues to feel as if it were about to occur any moment again the remaining 20 miles to my home. I intend on taking it to the ford dealership first thing in the morning as if was a dangerous situation to myself and wife as well as other drivers on the highway. Purchased vehicle less than 5 months ago.

When hitting uneven payment at highway speeds the front tires and steering starts to shake. As speed decreases, the wobble increases to the point where the violent shaking will not stop until almost a complete stop.i followed the nhtsa recommendation of 65 psi and other pressures and it has no affect on the wobble. Imo i believe that as the tires wear down, they have less traction on the road surface which allows for the oscillation of the tires to occur.putting on new tires is a bandaid for a defective design. I have heard that changing the position of the axle (i believe camber) can correct the problem. This can only be done with shims. In my case, i noticed that the shaking became worse as i slowed down. The natural reaction is to brake when the wobble begins. I decided that the next time it occurred, i would speed up. It works. The wobble corrects itself in a few seconds and is never near as severe as when i slow down.this is a dangerous condition and should be looked into deeper than has been in the past. This has happened several times over the past few years.ford, you know about this problem.

While traveling west bound on interstate 70 in a construction zone with uneven pavement the vehicle's right front wheel passed over a pavement patch which was slightly raised. Almost immediately the left front wheel passed over a pavement patch which was slightly raised. These two relatively minor bumps caused a wobble in the steering which then intensified until the vehicle steering was virtually uncontrollable. In order to stop the violent bouncing and wobble i had to brake hard almost coming to a stop. This unexpected rapid speed reduction quite naturally caused vehicles to have to brake very hard to avoid a collision. Subsequent research on the internet has revealed that this is not an unusual problem with this vehicle. Http://www.thedieselstop.com/forums/f149/front-end-bounce-high-speeds-274673/it is important to note that i am not a beginner at operating heavy duty pick up trucks. I drove 3/4 ton and one ton 4x4 trucks for 30 years as part of my duties as a rural area law enforcement officer with co-lateral duties in remote area search and rescue. Had i been towing my fifth wheel trailer when this high speed wobble occurred it could very well have resulted in a major traffic incident/collision involving multiple vehicles. As it was we were very lucky to have avoided rear end collisions as a result of the necessity to unexpectedly brake and slow to regain control of our truck.

The contact owns a 2011 ford f-250. While driving 70 mph, the contact lost control of the vehicle. It took several seconds for the contact to regain control. The failure recurred several times. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the suspension system failed. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

The contact owns a 2011 ford f-250. While driving 60 mph, the vehicle wobbled and shook violently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer (mac haik ford lincoln hyundai 4506 n navarro st, victoria, tx 77904), but the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. The dealer replaced unknown parts on the front end of the vehicle, but the failure recurred several more times. The manufacturer stated that the contact should take the vehicle to a dealer and have it diagnosed. The contact was referred to nhtsa. The approximate failure mileage was 25,000.

Violent front end wobble - death wobble -while traveling 75 mph, on interstate hwy, with moderate rough road, severe front-end shake from two front tires wobbling. Must slow, quickly, to less than 30 mph to stop wobble. Have had a total of three similar events over a period of four months. Searched google and youtube for f250 death wobble. Results are many people with same problem. No fix or answer to problem. Very unsafe condition. Needs nhtsa to get involved and review.

The contact owns a 2011 ford f-250. While driving at approximately 50 mph, the vehicle vibrated violently without warning. The failure recurred intermittently. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the tire shocks, vibration dampener, drag link, tie rod, and all the tires were replaced; however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000.

Experienced violent shaking of front wheels and steering after driving over a bump in road because of change in pavement on fly-overpass. Vehicle was uncontrollable and had a tremendous vibration in the front end.had to reduce speed toa near stop on interstate highway to get shaking to stop and to re-gain control of vehicle.

We have a 2011 ford f250 super duty diesel pick up with less than 20,000 miles. It is like new, but has developed a serious mechanical defect.ford motor company has tried up to (11) eleven fixes for this life threatening problem with no success. None of these "fixes" apply on this pick up. Now since the pick up is older than 3 yrs. Even with such low mileage they want us to pay for "trying" out more possible fixes that have currently been unsuccessful for all these ford f250 & f350 pick ups.this should be at the ford motor company's expense.the bottom line, it should be bought back by ford since it is not yet proven to be fixable.problem:the "death wobble" as described on the internet. This occurs anytime these ford super duty f250 or f350 diesel pickups are driven over 40mph and a bump, rough road, or pothole in the road is hit.the operator looses control of the vehicle. The first time this happened, the pickup was pulled into the on-coming traffic. It took all my son's strength to gain some control and keep from hitting an oncoming semi-truck.

Violent shaking at freeway speeds that occur between 55-75 mph causing the 'death wobble' have to slow down to under 40 mph to have the shaking completely stop have replaced the steering damper, the track bar with new bushings and have had an alignment done and have had several shops look at it and have found no other issues with the front end, steering components or suspension components that need to be replaced. Spoke with a local ford dealership and was told that i needed to replace the steering damper and that would solve the problem which i know it did not because it had already been replaced and this wobble has happened almost 10 times in less then a few months.

Uncontrolable front wheel bounce at speeds above 45 mph when you hit even the slightest bump or variation in the road.entire truck shakes and you have to slow down to 20 mph or lower to get the bounce to stop.has happened at least 30 or more times.tires, tire pressure, shocks, steering stabalizer, and all front end components have been check and replaced.still continues to happen.this issue is extremely widespread with many forums talking about it.this will cause multiple deaths if not handled swiftly.driver has not control over vehicle until the bounce stops.at highway speeds (45 mph +) this is not an issue that can be put off any longer.recently watched another ford f250 (with 6.7 engine, so 2011 or newer) get the tire bounce and ended up going off the road and rolling twice.i hit the same area and was able to control the bounce and slow because i saw the other ford crash.i am trying to research the crash and get a police report number to submit.i can't emphasize how important it is that this gets handled and fixed by ford!!

The front started vibrating violently, only stopped after slowing significantly. The problem was finally diagnosed as steering dampener. The service department was familiar with this problem as the "death wobble". This has been "repaired" three times and is now recurring.

While towing my 8000lb trailer, i went over some uneven highway pavement and the entire truck started shaking to the point i was no longer able to control where the truck went i had to left off the gas until it coasted to a top.50 miles later, i entered a suspension bridge over a 500 foot drop with a tractor trailer coming in the opposite direction. As i crossed over the bridge/road seam the truck started shaking again this time it went in to the lane of the semi truck after leaving a considerable amount of rubber he and i avoided a deadly accident.i googled these symptoms and it appears you have known about this issue for some time, please i beg you for the safety of my family make ford corporation fix this issue with these trucks.

When driving this truck, if you hit a pothole or any uneven surface, the truck will shake violently and it's all over the road. It takes all the strength in my body just to hold onto the steering wheel, and the only way to stop it is come almost to a complete stop. Someone's going to get killed, because when it start to shake, you have know control over the direction it's going to go. From what i've read on the net, this shake is called the death wobble and for good reasons. I also heard that ford had known about this defect for years, but want do anything except give you the run around.

Many issues (myself included) of severe "death wabble" when vehicle hits a bump in the road at highway speeds resulting in an uncontrollable shimmy that many times sends the vehicle into adjacent lanes until it is slowed to 30 or 40 mph. Ford motor co. Can't fix this and has no solutions. This has happened four times. Latest 11/20/15.

I'm experiencing the death wobble while driving after hitting a bump in the road. It happens on regular roads and interstates. I have changed all front end parts and shocks, got new tires balanced and aligned, and it's still not fixed. I'm told there's nothing else that can be done. It has been happening for over a year. It has happened anywhere between 40mph and 70mph.

My truck violently shakes after hitting a bump or groove.i am barely able to control it and it will not stop until you bring the vehicle to a stop.

When you hit a bump at a higher rate of speed it proceeds to shake so violently that you almost lose control.research shows that an anti-wobble track bar will fix the problem. If that is the case, ford should be responsible for fixing it.it is dangerous and a ticking time bomb. It has nothing to do with tire pressure. It is a design defect that ford should be responsible for. A person should not spend $60,000 on a vehicle only to have to turn around and sink thousands more just to have a safe vehicle. This should be a recall and corrected by ford. How many crashes/deaths have happened but have not been attributed to this as it has not officially been a recall issue??

Driving 45 mph on road i drive all the time and all of the sudden the truck started shaking violently and there was no ability to steer at all because of the shaking.i had to slow the truck down to just a few mph to get the shaking to stop.it was extremely scary and there was absolutely no way to turn the vehicle in any direction if i had needed to.

Uncontrollable steering wheel shake when you hit a bump at 55 mph . Truck has been in the shop 4 times with this problem. Ford cant seem to fix it.truck is stock no modifications. Someone is going to get hurt with this problem.

My truck starts shaking violently at 40-60 mph.steering control is lost and can only be regained by coming to a complete stop.truck will not switch lanes and pulling over to the shoulder is impossible due to loss of steering.shaking is violent to the point of loosening bolts.taken to dealer to be checked under warranty.they claimed it was air pressure or the need for new tires.the vehicles tires are in good condition and air pressure is set at factory recommended levels.ford says this behavior is normal.a serious accident extremely possible.an independent suspension shop claims issue is due to defective ball joints, lack of steering damper, and defective control arms.

Ford super duty f250 & f350 are well known to have the death wobble. This problem has been an issue for several years. Starting as early as 10000 miles. If the death wobble happens during a rain storm you are pretty certain to lose control of your vehicle. The front end will start shaking violently after hitting the smallest uneven surface in the road.i hear that the dodge has a similar problemthis can be googles and there will be thousands of people discussing this dangerous issue.

The vehicle has an excessive wobble also known as the death wobble when you hit any slight imperfections in the road or sometimes on newer paved roads.the vehicle goes into a sudden loss of control state and you must slow down to 20 mph before you can recover the loss of control.the vehicle has been returned to ford and i have spent over $2400.00 replacing front end parts and tires with slight improvements.the death wobble is still occurring and is highly dangerous while driving especially on the interstate or heavy traffic at higher speeds in excess of 35 mph.

When traveling above 50mph and hitting minor transitions, holes, imperfections in the roadway the front goes into a sever vibration causing a out of control experience. Must slow down below 40 mph to get under control. I think this is referred to the "death wobble" continue to replace parts trying to find a solution

While traveling at highway speed i hit a bump and the vehicle began to violently shake. I had to pull the vehicle off the road to gain control.continued down the highway and vehicle struck another pot hole and vehicle again went into a violent front end shake.i agian had to pull to the side of the highway to gain control of the vehicle.the nhtsa need to go to the ford forum and read the stories about the front end wobbles, shimmy, and shaking by the f250 and f350s, ther are many near miss incidents that if they occur these vehicles are to big for the individuals in the opppsite lanes to survive. The issue started at about 6000 miles on the truck and has gradually gotten worse.i have taken the truck to the dealership for repair at 14,000 miles and at 20,000 miles with no fix provided.

While going at highway speeds the whole truck will start to shake violently after hitting a small bump or rough spot in the road making the steering wheel difficult to hold and the truck extremely hard to control. Slowing down to 30 miles an hr will stop the shaking. This problem just started at 105k miles. It happens quite frequently and makes the truck almost impossible to use. Local mechanic can not find any issue with suspension or steering. After looking at the internet this problem seems to be rampant with ford offering no solution to the problem.

I was traveling south on highway 99 in the central valley of california north of visalia, ca.i was maintaining my speed in the fast (second lane) lane between 65 and 70 mph on a portion of the highway that was recently laid with fresh asphalt.this of course, made the road surface very smooth although there was some transition portions of the road surface with a few rougher sections. Going over one of the transitions the front end of the truck began to shake violently.i immediately attempted to slow down which was very dangerous due to the amount of traffic both behind me and to the slow lane to my right.i believe the other drives saw my situation and allowed me to pull to the slow lane to get control of the truck.once my speed was reduced to around 35 to 40 mph, the shaking stopped.the passenger who was with me was undoubtedly shaken up - no bun intended.unfortunately, this was the second time i experienced the "death wobble" that so many other ford truck owners have experienced.the first occurrence was about three months earlier while traveling on the golden state highway in bakersfield, ca.my speed at that time was 60 mph and began to shake uncontrollably after passing over a concrete to concrete transition in the road.following both events i took my truck to the local ford dealer for diagnosis.my dealer is jim burke ford, bakersfield, ca.the first time into service the dealer changed out the steering stabilize and said all other front end and steering components checked out fine.the steering stabilizer change out was funny because i had replaced the original one and installed a new bilstein brand steering stabilizer on the truck a few months prior.i have enjoyed this truck but it is beginning to scare my as i'm concerned another event could result in a serious accident. Please help us ford truck owners.thank you.

This vehicle has severe front end wobble which mostly occurs between the speeds of 60 - 70 mph.the steering wheel and entire vehicle begins to violently wobble so much that usually the vehicle has to be stopped on the side of the road to stop the wobble.the dealership suggested new tires which we replaced however the problem still exists.the is a common problem we have learned online with this model truck.we are very concerned that this problem may cause an accident.

Death wobble. While in the highway at speeds above 45 mph if you hit any sort of bump the front end starts shaking uncontrollably and have to slow down to about 25mph to regain control. This has happened to me over 15 times in the last month. It is very dangerous and i have almost been in severe accidents a couple times. I have had it at the shop to fix this problem. They replaced the steering stabilizer and the problem did not go away. After reading for hours online there is no effective fix for this. This seems to be a dangerous design defect that ford will not address.

While driving 55-65 mph the steering starts shaking violently, you are unable to hold the steering wheel straight. In order to stop this you have to slow down to 15-20 mph as quickly as possible before losing control hoping no one runs into you for having to stop quickly. This is very dangerous not knowing when it is going happen. This is such a problem with ford trucks that steering stabilizer kits are listed on line under death wobble. Do you mean that people have to die before ford is made to do something about this? this has happened multiple times. The ford dealership said i needed new tires. This did not help.

Vehicle has a violent speed wobble when crossing small bump in road at highway speedthis is more unnerving as this occurs on a curve vehicle will move across lane

During a drive on the hwy, the vehicle went over an uneven section of the road causing the vehicleto wobble and shake violently. I pulled over to inspect the front end of the vehicle thinking i had hitsomething or had a flat tired. Nothing out of the ordinary was found.the same event occurred a month or so later when driving back from the airport and hit a pot holeat about 50 miles an hour. The vehicle once again felt out of control shifting from left to right on thehwy and felt uncontrollable. Got home, checked all associated suspension hardware and nothingout of the ordinary was detected.at this point, i am a bit hesitant to go at speed limit and constantly watching, avoiding main highways.it seems like the vehicle has suspension issues and it was not designed accordingly to its heavy dutyratings. The vehicle is a road hazard and a danger to the driver and other drivers..

App. One year ago, i started having trouble with my truck.it would shake if i hit a rough spot or bridge approach at 60 to 70 miles an hour, causing the steering wheel and the whole truck to shake.i've had it to the dealer a number of times and have spent about$2100.00 and it's still doing it.at times it shakes really hard and to get it to quit i have to bring my speed down to 30 miles an hour.that is very dangerous on the interstate with all the traffic. Ford says it does that sometimes,i've had 6 f250's from 1999 to present and none of them have ever done this, except this truck. Have you ever had any more complaints of this nature? please contact me on what to do. The dealer has contacted ford motor com. They are the ones that says it suppose to do it sometimes.it done that 6 times in a 10 hour drive 2 weeks ago.

When driving about 60 miles per hit bump in road vehicle went into a violent shakingdid not stop until i almost came to a complete stop . I noticed that as a result the front tires were scuffed. These tires have less than 6000 miles on them.

On the 17th of october 2019 driving down the interstate from nebraska to colorado my truck it would hit a bump or seam in the road and it would start to shake the steering wheel would shake the truck was shake vigorously until i had slowed it down to less than 20 it would quit this happened to me about 7 times from then on i just kept speed down get off that i got off the interstate and my kept my speed down to under 60 and it did not happen again i did take it to the dealer to be fixed, at my expense, i bought new tires i had the alignment done and everybody tells me this will fix what they call the death wobble but it was very scary and my truck only has 45000 miles on it! i just wanted to report this problem it is not safe at all i hope it doesn't happen again

The contact owns a 2011 ford f-250. The contact stated while driving approximately 50 mph and driving over a bump in the roadway, the front end of the vehicle suddenly started to violently shake and vibrate. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer autonation ford located at 4355 jonesboro rd, union city, ga 30291, who diagnosed that the suspension needed to be repaired. The damper assembly, front suspension, ball joints, and tie rod connections were replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 94,000.

The contact owns a 2011 ford f-250. The contact stated that while driving 60 mph, the vehicle began shaking abnormally. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer, who stated that they would balance all for tires and performed and alignment check. The vehicle was repaired however, the problem persisted.the manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 22,500.

When the vehicle hits a hard bump in the road at highway speed, the front tires begin to wobble.this is causes the whole vehicle to shake violently and it will not stop until the vehicle is brought to a stop. The internet calls this event a death wobble.

Driving approximately 45 mph on a state highway, making a slight left turn, hit a small bump in the road, and the steering wheel started jerking violently from left to right from the 9:00 to 3:00 positions.i could not stop it with both hands.i had to brake the vehicle to almost a complete stop to end the jerking.this has been happening on almost a daily basis.the vehicle currently has 22,193 miles on it.it has been to the dealership at least 4 times and they have been called numerous times with the problem.they have checked the tire pressure several times.the front end.changed the steering damper ,which slightly helped for about 500 miles.it is now happening every time i drive the vehicle and is getting worse.now also happening at lower speeds, around 30 mph and up.

Death wobble, we almost died on 395, had to stop fast and it happed twice. With in 10 min of each other, he gotnew tires, and alignment a month ago.towing horse trailer.please help with this issue.this is our second ford truck,we have a154,000. Miles.we are not going to buy another ford if you do not have remedy to fix this issue

Own a 2011 f250 super duty and have experienced the death wobble on numerous occasions. Iā€™m getting concerned because it has been getting worse. It takes longer for the oscillation to dissipate as i do my best to slow down without losing control. Please help all who have experienced this to get resolution without the high cost that is related. It is a danger to ourselves and possibly others as i control the vehicle on a busy highway and others have to brake. Thank you, bill

The steering damper has malfunction which caused death wobble.the truck almost flipped.

For thesecond time first at 42,000 now at 82 000 at hiway speed of 66 mph the violent steering death wobble has happened again. The only way is to hold on so tight and slow trying to get off the travel lanes ..this so dangerous and unforeseen.inspected front steering and suspension ,all in tolerance. First time i used my esp warrant paying the deductibe.

I was driving approximately 45 mph when i hit a rough area in the asphalt during a slight left turn.after hitting the rough area, the truck and steering wheel began shaking violently. I had to almost stop before the shaking would stop. I pulled off the road thinking that maybe a tire was fixing to fall off but everything was fine.now every time i hit a rough area on the road i worry that it will happen again.

I was driving 65 mph on the interstate and i hit a line of bumps.the truck would start shaking violently and i would have to slow down under 30 mph on the interstate.ford put a new steering damper in and the problem persisted 2 weeks after.i went and bought a kit from wrc motorsports for $1,000 and paid over $500.00 to have it put in today.hopefully this stops the problem and ford will reimburse me some of the cost.

Was going over a bridge that had uneven pavement with a slight bank to the left and the steering and entire vehicle began to shake uncontrollably and put the vehicle into the nearby field after running off the road.i contacted ford dealership and was informed to check tire air pressure (air pressure was fine-stock tires and rims).front steering stabilizer was checked and that was fine.track bar and tie rod checked and those too were fine.a local four wheel drive shop informed me that they are quite aware of this problem and at 31000 miles they recommended changing the tie rod, dual steering stabilizers, and another alignment.most off road dealers are aware of this problem and even say to adjust the caster to a positive 4 to correct.as seen on the internet, this began around 2005 with straight axle and coil suspension. Ford must rectify this problem!

I drive a 2011 ford f250sd,while driving 65-70mph on freeway, drove over rough patch and the truck started to shake very violently, steering was extremly hard tl control, "deathwobblel "is what it is called ,wouldn't stop shaking asuntill slamming on the brakes and slowing down to about 30 mph. This has happend to me inmy1989 f250 with over 250000miles on it but this truck has only 63765 miles .first time this occurred was about 3 weeks ago and last niteit happened 3 time in a span of less then 10 miles very unsafe hope ford come up with a fixbecause seems to me there is more then few people with the issue

This truck developed "death wobble" after a simple tire rotation.at approximately 53mph, any bump in the road surface would cause the front end to shake violently and cause the truck to be uncontrollable.while violent, it locks the truck into an unsteerable condition and only hard braking can stop the truck.the truck shuttered violently until stopped.from the repairs it appears a combination of weakening shocks and steering stabilizer cause the front end to shutter mildly and probably constantly until the bushings on the track bar are worn enough to cause problems.then any alteration in front end components, like rotating the tires will unbalance the entire precarious set-up.once "death wobble" has occurred, it becomes more violent and happens more often until the truck is fixed.worst of all, there is no single fix or known fix for this problem.the owner if forced to spent thousands of dollars trying every known fix until the problem stops.it was so violent, i was concerned the truck could possibly destroy itself.i was astounded the entire truck did not shake itself apart, it was extremely violent and made steering impossible.i had to drive back to the tire shop at 45mph and carefully avoid even the most minor bump in the road to stop the truck from shaking itself to pieces or killing us.

Vehicle developed violent, resonant shaking at highway speed.reduction to 40 mph was required to regain vehicle control.

Shortly after purchasing the truck, was driving on residential street @ a low speed & front end started shaking uncomtrollable, after running over a man hole cover had to fully stop fully, shortly after i was getting on an expresssssy & ran over small chug hole and it started again, took to my mechanic who installed a heavy duty stabilizer bar, new shocks a new camber kit & 2 allignments, still does the same thing, hoping ford has the answer for repairs, would love to be able to pull our rv with the grandkids & wife

My truck started shaking violently after hitting a bump in the road. The internet calls this the death wobble and apparently it is affecting a lot of ford f250 trucks.

At 55 mph, if you hit a bump in the road the front end shakes, jumps across the road. Very difficult to handle. You have to slow down. This needs to be looked at. We had the vehicle at ford several time and they found nothing!

Let me start by saying that my truck does not have any aftermarket changes - it is completely stock/oem. At highway speeds (60mph+), the front end of my truck sometimes shudders severely after going over small road surface changes such as joints/seams in the highway. At first it only occurred during sweeping highway turns, but it has progressed to happening on straights as well. The shudder is so severe that the steering wheel nearly shakes out of my hands and things in the stowage spots on the doors are shaken out. I now have to slow to <30mph in order to settle the front end which is obviously extremely dangerous to have to suddenly do on a highway. The initial event occurred at roughly 80k miles and only happened a few times a year. I now have 130k miles and the problem has occurred 3 times within the last month.i've recently replaced all shock absorbers and the steering dampener, had an alignment and the tires balanced and rotated - to no avail. The truck is currently in the shop where they are trying to identify the specific problem but have told me this is relatively common among ford super duty trucks. After doing some research online i have found numerous online communities discussing this problem that has apparently been occurring with ford super duty trucks for over a decade and is still occurring on new units with as few as 15k miles.

Steering becomes tight then wanders with not able to regain control of steering until vehicle is parked for sometime. Mechanic said all parts are in good working order. Happens after a turn but if you stop and turn off truck for several minutes it seems fine for awhile. This mostly in town slow to medium speed 15-45 mph. It has happened for about three months now. 3-29-2018 and @40-50 degrees outside.

Please help

The steering is lock up while drive you issued a recall for meijer model vehicle but my vehicle is not included and the steering is locking up while driving down the road that acts like the power steering pump is going out this having the same problem with the cylinder as the others

Truck developed a violent shake in the front end and became uncontrollable. Have to stop immediately before vehicle will stop shaking. The issue is referred to the "ford death wobble" with many recorded instances of this on the web and youtube. Issue has gotten worse and is unsafe to drive. Has been in the ford dealer and many new parts replaced but problem persist. Ford dealer cannot seem to correct so it has been in two other garages for second opinions. Contacted ford motor company and they have no recalls or any knowledge of this problem.vehicle is a danger to the highway.

Truck developed what is called "death wobble".when i hit a bump on highway, usually at speeds around 65 mph the steering wheel and whole truck shake violently until i slow down to 35.replaced trackbar, draglink, tie rods, steering dampner, had the front end aligned by two different shops, still does it.this has been happening for several years, i will put the date of the latest below.

At high speeds over 50 mph, if truck hits a bump, front end shakes violently until you come to a complete stop. Dealer has no answer. On internet many others having same problem. Called "death rattle".

My 2011 f-250 king ranch diesel has a 'death wobble'. I bought it about 8 months ago and it happened to me three time and my step son once. It doesn't have to be a very big bump for the wobble to start. I have tried to 'drive through' the wobble but it just gets worse. None of the mechanics i have talked to can tell me how to fix it. I love my truck but i can not take a chance on having a wreck and someone gets hurt or worse. [xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Driving east bound on the 91 freeway in the diamond lane i drove over a roadway imperfection.as soon as i hit it with my left front tire the vehicle made a violent motion to the left almost causing me to strike the center divider.this happened several other times before i returned the vehicle to the dealer to have it checked (12/16/2010).by this time, striking an imperfection with either front tire caused the vehicle to move laterally, left or right.after several visits to the ford dealer without remedy, a ford engineer was summoned for a test drive.we drove the vehicle to a spot i consistently have the problem and it violently pulled to the left when the front left tire hit the spot (transition road: 405 freeway to the northbound 710 freeway).both the engineer and the service manager were in the vehicle at that time and both felt what i was complaining about.later that same day i was looking at a ford fusion with my son and the ford engineer drove into the lot in a new ford super duty 4x4 that he had driven to that same location.he told me and my son that the new vehicle did the same thing and he would report back to ford so that they could do something about it.i was later contacted by the ford manager and told that my problem was within fords tolerance for the vehicle.he also told me i could probably go over to the four wheel drive parts store and purchase something that might help with the problem.i continue to have this problem but it appears to be getting worse.even my friends who drive with me complain about this issue telling me i need to do something about it.this past week i contacted ford again via their fix-it hot line and spoke with one of their representatives who looked into my complaint (he spoke with the ford manager and ford engineer).today he advised me the problem was normal for the vehicle.anyone else complaining?

I have had repeated issues with the steering of my truck.i have taken it in to the ford dealership for the last 2 years and have been unable to get this resolved.the issue is known as the "death wobble".i was unaware of how common this issue was until i started reading forms where many people have had the same complaint.i have nearly lost control of my truck way too many times.

The contact owns a 2011 ford f-250. The contact stated that the rubber bushings in the cab mount were corroded and deteriorated. The failure occurred without warning. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was confirmed that the cab mounts were failing. The dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 85,384.

The contact owns a 2011 ford f-250. The contact stated that the hollow tube that held the spare tire was rusted. The vehicle was taken to formula ford lincoln (4318 middle rd, rutland, vt 05701) where it was diagnosed that the tube needed to be replaced. The contact informed the dealer that a stronger tube was needed due to the weight of the tire. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and did not assist. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000.

Continent 27565r18 tire had tread separation but stayed on tire acting like a whip that caused $5000.00 damage to my truck bed side.

The contact owns a 2011 ford f-250. While driving approximately 50-65 mph, the front end of the vehicle shook severely. The failure occurred without warning. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the passenger side ball joints were damaged and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.

Ford death wobble when the truck hits a rough spot in the road, uncontrollable wobble that requires a full stop.

The contact owns a 2011 ford f-250. The contact stated that while driving at highways speeds, driving over a bump the vehicle started to shake violently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who was unable to diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 40,000 and the current mileage was 45,000.

The contact owns a 2011 ford f-250. The contact stated that while driving at 60 mph, the vehicle went over a bump and the vehicle began to shake violently. The contact depressed the brake pedal and the shaking became worse. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 100,000.

As i was driving on the highway at highway speed, all of the sudden after going over a rough patch of road, i experienced a severe rattling and loss of control.i had to come to a complete stop on the highway and nearly caused a multiple car pile up. A week later, i had the same thing.this time as i was approaching highway speed getting on to the highway.after coming to a complete stop, this caused another accident on that highway that i was not involved in but was a direct result of my having to slow to a stop due to this incident.after this, i looked online and it appears that this has been a problem with ford super duty trucks since 2006 and has caused more than one accident and possible fatalities.this is a fairly common problem as well.the truck is less than 3 years old, and has less than 36,000 miles on it.

When traveling above 50mph and hitting minor transitions, holes, imperfections in the roadway the front goes into a sever vibration causing a out of control experience. Must slow down below 40 mph to get under control. I think this is referred to the "death wobble" continue to replace parts trying to find a solution

Experience death wobble every time i merge onto the highway. Results in loss of control and is very hard to control and maintain in my lane.

The contact owns a 2011 ford f-250. The contact stated while driving 65 mph and hauling a trailer, the vehicle drove over a bump in the roadway and experienced the death wobble. The contact regained control of the vehicle and drove safely to the destination. The vehicle was taken to autonation ford corpus christi located at 6250 s. Padre island dr, corpus christi, tx 78412, to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the vehicle needed a front wheel alignment. The alignment was performed however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 50,000.

Traveling on interstate highway 40 speed 65 mph my 2011 ford f-250 crew cab superduty experienced an extremely violent shaking of vehicle front end which came very near to complete loss of control.the only way to stop the shaking was to hit the brakes hard and drop down to 20 mph or so before the shaking stopped-dangerous on a high speed highway.looked it up when i returned from trip and apparently this is a fairly common problem. Suggested fixes of alignment, shock replacement and tire balancing did not work-still experience the problem about once a month-always in a straight line and speeds between 55 and 70 mph.bumps in the road make it more likely to happen.date below is the last time it occurred-it has happened about 10 times in the last year.

I bought this truck certified used in 2011 with approximately 9000 mile on it. My problem started when the truck had about 20000 miles, more or less. It experiences the famous ford death wobble repeatedly when driving at highway speed and encountering a small bump or hole in a road. It is particularly bad when traveling between 50 and 65 mph and making slight left turn as may be encountered on a freeway entrance or exit. The shaking is so bad that steering control can be totally lost. The only way to stop the shaking is to come to nearly a full stop which can be exceptionally dangerous on high speed freeways and highways. I have read and heard of many other complaints of the same nature involving ford pickups for 2011 and other years. Each time the problem seems to be being ignored by ford as "normal" or by the nhtsa due to the lack or a recall or suggested fix.

While driving at highway speeds and hitting a rough patch of road, the vehicle will start to shake violently until i am able to pull off to the shoulder. This is extremely dangerous and has happened while towing as well as without a load. Truck was "fixed" 2 years ago and the problem wasn't as bad, but still present. After a recent tire rotation, the problem returned. The truck is currently in the shop waiting for a new diagnosis.

Driving highway speed my 2011 f250 runs over a pot hole, begins violently shaking had to slow down in order to control steering wheel. This has happened more than once in past yr. Repaired replaced a part, had alignment down. Problem has not been solved. This could cause a major accident. I feel this is a manufactured problem and ntsa should order a recall before someone gets hurt. Last time it happened, yesterday 5/20/2011.

The contact owns a 2011 ford f-250. The contact experienced an unknown failure related to the fuel injection. The vehicle was towed to willowbrook ford (7301 kingery hwy, willowbrook, il 60527) where it was diagnosed that the fuel injection hold down bracket fractured. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 82,000. The vin was not provided. The consumer stated one bracket under extended warranty was fixed but not the rest. Vin provided. Updated 12/13/18

When hitting a bump or a bridge at speeds in excess of 50 mph the vehicle would go into what is called a "death wobble" or sustained steering wheel oscillation. This was more likely to occur when the front drivers side hit the bump first or in a slight left hand turn when hitting the bump in the road. I have to immediately let off of the throttle and softly apply the breaks to about 25 mph to get the very aggressive wobbling to quit. During which time, the vehicle is very difficult to control. I have had stabilizer shocks, track bar assembly, ball joints, tires, alignments, etc completed and still experience this death wobble almost daily. It appears by reading about every forum available online, ford is aware of this problem for years, but has failed to do anything to correct the problem. (see tsb 18-2268) for vehicles 2017-2019, but this is clearly a problem for older model vehicle also. Someone is going to die from this problem. It should be addressed.

At highway speeds if hitting a defect in the road, like a pothole or some kind of dip, my front end starts shaking violently and i can barely keep control of the truck. This is known as death wobble.this has happened multiple times while driving down the highway.

2011 ford f250 death wobble. Front end repaired after several wobble incidents in 2018. Vehicle now begins shaking at speed of 45mph and uncontrollable at 65mph. I either have to slow down, or accelerate to 70+ to avoid the wobble, but steering still shakes

The problem with this vehicle is death wobble from the front suspension of the truck. Over the years it has done this and is quite dangerous when at highway speed, because when it happens, you will have to slow to 30 mph to regain control of the the truck. I have had this issue fixed two separate times, about every four years, by replacing the ball joint and track bar. These repairs are costing about $450 usd. There are no warning before this problem happens. You simply have to hit a bump in the road going 60-70 mph for it happen.

At 55 mph, if you hit a bump in the road the front end shakes, jumps across the road. Very difficult to handle. You have to slow down. This needs to be looked at. We had the vehicle at ford several time and they found nothing!

Ford f250 4x4 have a problem with the front suspension design.when you are driving and you hit a pothole of one of the wheel is jarred the vehicle will shake, this can be very violent depending on speed.the vehicle with this report has had several instances in various degrees.we have also tried to correct the problem.the instances have all been at highway speeds.

My ford f-250 starts shaking very very bad when i hit a small bump on the freeway. To get the very scary wobble to stop i need to slow down on the freeway between 20-30 miles per hour. This has happened over 50 times. I've had it happen 3 times within ten miles before. Slowing down to 20-30 on the freeway has been very dangerous. And i have almost been in a few accidents because of it. It is so bad and dangerous that i try not to ever have anyone ride in my truck with me. My family is scared to ride it it anyways.

"deathwobbly"the 1st time this happened i was on the interstatetraveling 70mphwhen the steering wheel started violently shaking.i pulled overon the shoulder of the interstate thinking my tires had blown out. I walked around my truck everything looks fine so i'm on my way. It does it again a few weeks later i had to slow down to 30mph on the interstate before it would stop at this time i have talk around and new what was happening.the service guy at the dealership told me to put new tires on the truck that should fix it. My tires were practically new so i wasn't replacing them so he suggested road force balance.after doing more research looks like this has been a problem for a long time. I really hope there is a recall to fix this problem before someone is killed. I bought the truck used with 59000 miles on it at the price of 40k. I would probably went with a different truck had i known about these issues.

Death wobble.severe steering wheel and tires shaking on the front.

Vehicle is experiencing "death wobble".dealership installed kc3z 3e651 b:damper assy to fix the issue.problem re-occurred within weeks.took it back to the dealer and they could not explain.this time they said the trac bar ball joint needed to be replaced.replaced it and had the same problem re-occurring within days.this problem occurs randomly when driving over minor bumps, road seams in bridges, etc.with and without carrying a load.indications are heavy vibrations in the front end/steering that will not stop until you let the vehicle de-accelerate on it's own without using the brake.

Death wobble!dealership has replaced ball joint, bushing, new tires, some connecting rod ' still happens!!!this is going to kill me or somebody!!! it happens at 70 mph and above. This is all over the internet ' ford knows about it; they just haven't fixed it.

The contact owns a 2011 ford f-250. While driving 60 mph over a bump in the roadway, the vehicle shook violently until slowing to 30 mph or coming to a full stop. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and the local dealer (jim burke ford 2001 oak st, bakersfield, ca 93301 (661) 328-3600), but the failure could not be duplicated or diagnosed. The contact was advised to replace all four tires. All four tires were replaced, but the issue persisted. The manufacturer was notified and referred the contact to nhtsa. The failure mileage was 225,000.

2011 ford 250 diesel has been in for front end service(front end alignments) and excessive scalloping of tires four times. Two dealerships have expressed concern over the severity of the tires. The truck continues to pull to the right and the front end has started to shake/wobble after hitting a bump.

Front tires go into a death wobble as you are driving over 55 mph and cannot be controlled. Must pull over and stop to correct but it will happen again.

At highway speeds when making a slight left turn when encountering a bump in the road the front suspension begins shaking violently.this is commonly known as the "death wobble" for which ford has many service bulletins.once vehicle speed is reduced to approximately 40 mph shaking stops.the process of fixing is long and consists of trial and error until the many possible reasons are finally addressed and specific thing fixed.ford service bulletin discusses specific build dates of 2011 model year from late 2010 - mid 2011.

Death wobble, shaking uncontrollably when hitting bumps or uneven roads on highway at 65mph

The steering damper has malfunction which caused death wobble.the truck almost flipped.

Was driving truck approximately 60 mph when it began experiencing death wobble. This has been occurring more and more frequently over the past 6 months and i recently had the shocks, steering dampener, & drag link replaced and it only made the wobble worse. I had to pull over twice within 5 miles to get the steering wheel to stop shaking.

Vehicle developed violent, resonant shaking at highway speed.reduction to 40 mph was required to regain vehicle control.

At high speeds over 50 mph, if truck hits a bump, front end shakes violently until you come to a complete stop. Dealer has no answer. On internet many others having same problem. Called "death rattle".

The contact owns a 2011 ford f-250. While driving 60 mph over a bump in the road, the vehicle shook uncontrollably. The contact had to slow the vehicle down to 30 mph to regain control. The failure was experienced numerous times. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who replaced the front tires and performed an alignment. In addition, the front suspension bars were also replaced; however, the failure was not corrected. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 40,000.

The contact owns a 2011 ford f-250. The contact stated that while driving 40 mph, the front end shimmered severely when the vehicle hit a bump. The vehicle was taken to the dealer four times who replaced the ball joints and stabilizer arm but the failure recurred.the manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 30,000 and the current mileage was 68,000. The vin was unavailable.

Please help

Bought this truck in april has had the death wobble twice above 60 mph installed new tires and shocks , tie rod end on right side and alignment still has a uncomfortable vibration at high way speeds haven't taken to a dealer yet but looking at other forums dealer fix does not fix it

My truck violently shakes after hitting a bump or groove.i am barely able to control it and it will not stop until you bring the vehicle to a stop.

Death wobble, we almost died on 395, had to stop fast and it happed twice. With in 10 min of each other, he gotnew tires, and alignment a month ago.towing horse trailer.please help with this issue.this is our second ford truck,we have a154,000.

The contact owns a 2011 ford f-250. While driving 55 mph, the vehicle started to vibrate abnormally. The vehicle was taken to keller bros. Ford lebanon (located at 1030 schaeffer rd, lebanon, pa 17042, (717) 949-2000) to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the suspension was checked, but no failures were found. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 75,000.

The contact owns a 2011 ford f-250. The contact stated that while driving between 55- 60 mph, the front of the vehicle started shaking badly. The failure occurred when driving at higher speeds and mentioned the failure as being the 'death wobble'. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where all four tires were replaced and twice an alignment was completed. The technician informed the contact it could be a death wobble related failure. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer and was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure recurred numerous times intermittently. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 95,000.

The manufacturer stated that the contact should take the vehicle to a dealer and have it diagnosed. The contact was referred to nhtsa. The approximate failure mileage was 25,000.

Front end shimmy that is felt in the steering while moving at highway speeds.

When the vehicle hits a hard bump in the road at highway speed, the front tires begin to wobble.this is causes the whole vehicle to shake violently and it will not stop until the vehicle is brought to a stop. The internet calls this event a death wobble.

When hitting a bump or pot hole at highway speed the front tires wobble uncontrollably until you all but stop. This could catch someone off guard to crash into someone on the highway.

The contact owns a 2011 ford f-250. While driving 70 mph, the vehicle vibrated excessively and did not cease until the vehicle was brought to a complete stop.

Started my f1 50 with the remote control when i put it in reverse the back glass shattered this is the second time this is happened that it cost me $500 deductible each time

Death wobble!dealership has replaced ball joint, bushing, new tires, some connecting rod ' still happens!!!this is going to kill me or somebody!!! it happens at 70 mph and above. This is all over the internet ' ford knows about it; they just haven't fixed it.

I would like to know why ford has not recalled the plastic oil pan due to seal failure and returning back to steel pan on newer models. This a continuing problem noted on numerous internet posts. My 2011 ford f-250 lariat 4x4 is leaking oil and now has to be replaced, costing a lot of money for labor and oil replacement which should not be necessary for a vehicle with only 135,000 miles drive time.

I have had two incidents of windows exploding on me out of nowhere. The first incident happened on 2/21/20 near cedarvale, nm. Then, just yesterday(8/9/20), i was sitting at a picnic area alongside the same road(rt 247) and within 10 miles of where the other occurence took place, and my back rear window of my truck just exploded out of nowhere again. The first incident happened when i was driving along the highway at around 65 mph, and the most recent incident happened when the vehicle was parked.

Death wobble, shaking uncontrollably when hitting bumps or uneven roads on highway at 65mph

Death wobble, vehicle begin to shake uncontrollably until slowed down, on highway.

Started engine and put vehicle in drive. Engine accelerated to max rpms and vehicle ran into a tree approx. 20 feet in front of vehicle. Engine continued to run at wot until i turned ignition off.

Was traveling at 70mph on the highway when my 2011 f250 xlt super cab suddenly shifted from 6th gear into 1st gear causing a loss of control and the truck to spin out. The truck is a 6.2l with a 6 speed automatic transmission.

2011 ford f250 crewcab fx4 6.7l diesel engine. Sometimes you push on the gas and nothing happens and it takes a few seconds and it kicks in and goes. Towing a fifth wheel thru a stop sign with a 18 wheeler bearig down on you sucks. Almost didn't make it out of the way. This happen twice in one day. The dealer heard noise from my fuel pump so the they changed the fuel filters and i had a recall for some computer upgrade data thingy. I only have 24k miles and this has happened a few other times without a load on it (towing or not). Did i just spend $61,000 on a death trap?? at the diesel stop.com website, there are many other people with this same problem. I have taken my vehicle in to a dealer and they say "can not duplicate" but this happens every now and then. One person on that forum was able to take a ford mechanic driving with him and was able to duplicate the problem but later the mechanic said nothing was wrong. Sounds like a cover up to me. What should i do?? just keep taking my truck in to the dealer?

2011 ford f-250. Consumer states six incidents of sudden unexpected, unexplained high acceleration *tgwthe consumer stated two of the six incidents were at a very high rpm and so forceful, that it nearly propelled the vehicle into other vehicles.

Accelerates when i am stopped and have my foot on the break.

Driving down the road when all of the sudden the drivers side window exploded all over the inside of my truck. It exploded so hard (like a shotgun blast). It threw glass all over the inside of the truck, all over myself. Once i stopped, i noticed that i had blood on my seat. The glass actually was stuck in my skin on my elbow. It took almost 10 minutes to get it out of my hair. There were no other vehicles on the road or going by me to throw any debris at the window. I have photos if needed

"steering column control module" sccm (ford p/n 3f944) plastic body broke, allowing the "multifunction switch" (ford p/n 13k359) to separate from its electrical connector and become inoperable. The sccm plastic body is quite flimsy and the plastic is brittle - instead of just breaking, it shattered like glass.this failure occurred at night during a rainstorm 3-4-16. Had just exited onto an urban arterial from a freeway.instantly the wipers, turn signals, and high beam became inoperable. Very dangerous driving home (1 mile from the event). Next day i was amazed at how extensively the plastic shattered, having no recall of treating it harshly -just using the device in the normal fashion.

The contact owns a 2011 ford f-250. The contact stated that the vehicle was started and sat idle for ten minutes when he heard a loud explosion. The contact then discovered that the rear window glass had fallen from the vehicle and shattered. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The dealer took pictures of the shattered glass and sent them to the manufacturer. Approximately two weeks later, he was advised that they would cover a percentage of the repairs to the rear window. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileages were approximately 8,100. The vin was unavailable.

The contact owns a 2011 ford f-250. The contact stated that the front windshield wipers operated independently. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 50,000.

Went to inspect the vehicle, upon doing a walk around i checked the tires and noticed that all for tires on the vehicle had splits in the sidewalls. The splits are about a 1/4 to 1/2" from the edge of the wheel near the bead of the tire. The splits are not continuous but reach nearly all the way around the tire following the line of the wheel/tire bead. At initial inspection it looked as if the tires had been cut, after looking at all for tires and all of them having the same cracks/splits you could tell that it was not cut and rather the rubber splitting. The tires have no other damage to the tread or sidewall from curbs and or rocks/rough roads. The tires were installed and used for approx. 4 months with 3,363 miles put on them since installed. Size - 245/75/17, load range - e, brand/model - hercules terra trac t/g max

2011 ford 250 diesel has been in for front end service(front end alignments) and excessive scalloping of tires four times. Two dealerships have expressed concern over the severity of the tires. The truck continues to pull to the right and the front end has started to shake/wobble after hitting a bump.
