The wires supplying power to the high pressure oil pump frayed.this was caused by the wires not being properly protected by ford (according to the ford dealership).once the short in the wire occurred, my truck immediately shut off in the middle of the highway.i was going 65 mph and luckily no one was behind me.otherwise i would have been in a serious accident since my truck was shut down in the middle of the road.

A week after i bought the truck the transmission went out then its had countless electrical problems its been to 2 ford dealers it was at one for 7 months and the other for 3 and a chevy dealer noone can fix my truck its had 3 transmissions put in it 1000s of dollars later and i haven't been able to drive my truck in 2 and a half years ford is unwilling to do anything with it. They cant find the problem and give up and tell me to come get the truck i still owe15 000 on the truck.

While driving at night the vehicle lights went out, no high beams, no driving lights at all, no blinkers etc.the flashers worked only while the vehicle was running, turned off the vehicle and it continued to runturned key back on and turned flashers off and sputtered and died, but then only the mirror and tail light flashers worked, nothing in the front worked. When attemted to check to see if lights would come on or flashers the wrench icon would appear, all instrument warning came on to check break sysytem but still no lights or flasher. This was an etremely dangerous situation due to the fact we were in a dark rural area on a 2 lane hwy and could not see a thing.the vehicle intermititngly will not start and we had to have it towed home. Also back up sensor will not work properly at times, the soonest we can get vehicle yo yhe shop is next tuesday.

While driving the engine light came on, then the battery light intermittently illuminated, then it just died. It cranked but wouldn't start. Took it to my mechanic to which he said the entire cab had to be removed (per ford consultant) to repair electrical short. $$$$$$ i cant afford this! thousands of dollars!

I was driving our 2008 f-250 2wd an as i applied the brakes to turn, lost power steering and brakes. This had occurred a few times before but i could not identify the problem. The problem was intermittent and although a near serious accident occurred, no problem could be found. I was planning to take it to a local dealer over the weekend. The next day i was pulling into my driveway and the truck engine died and would not start. We had it towed to the dealer for a diagnosis. It was discovered that the high pressure fuel pump cover gasket which includes a wiring harness needs replaced due to wire abrasion and a shorted wire. In addition, the cab of the truck will need to be removed to correct the problem. I understand that the replacement part has been re-engineered to include a guard to protect the wire from abrasion. From internet research i have found several similar instances, with some vehicles losing power while in motion. This is extremely dangerous. The dealer acknowledged that this is a recurring issue with this model of truck and they have made several similar repairs. As a safety professional for over 30 years, this is very unnerving to say the least.highway crashes occur far too often due to human error without having known manufacturer defects adding to the problem. When a trusted manufacturer discovers an engineering issue but fails to inform owners or correct the problem, this adds unnecessary danger for unsuspecting motorists, our families and the public. I trust that this will be investigated fully.

Driving at highway speeds the front of the truck starts violently and uncontrollablyshaking and doesn't cease until you slow down below 20 mph.the front end also does this if i'm driving more than 25 mph and the pavement changes. The county repaved a portion of my road. The speed limit is 55. Everytime i reach the change in asphalt, i have to almost stop to get the shaking to stop.

Driving my 2008 ford f250 at over 50 miles per hour and hitting bumps in the road causes the cursed "death wobble". It has happened multiple times. Once with my family in the vehicle and my wife driving. Almost caused her to wreck before coming to a complete stop on the interstate. Have paid for repairs multiple times, with the same thing happening after repairs.

Total damage in the engine, dealer sale with this problem

The radiator is separating at the seal at the edge. We are losing approx 1 gallon of antifreeze a day. I have heard this complaint from several dealerships we have talked to and other customers.

Excessive blowby polluting engine. #8 and #6 cylinders, rings heavily worn or damaged due to diesel regen contaminating lubrication and getting in crankcase. This is a very well known and unacceptable issue causing scored engine blocks and failure of engine and dpf and egrs.

I purchased my 2008 ford f250 in 2015 from a dealership in burkburnett, tx. The truck started loosing coolant from what seem to be the lower radiator hose.that leak stopped but continued leak coolant from but was not visible. Then the coolant filler bottle started collecting a black fluid and i was told that it was engine oil. So, i was getting oil in my antifreeze.the radiator was drained and refilled with coolant but i still found oil in the coolant filler bottle. Right around thanksgiving 2019,i decided to trade in the vehicle and drove it to a dealership 50 miles away.they test drove the vehicle and the engine locked up after the test drive and has not started since. We were given an estimate of $11,000 to clean out the oils in the engine. The pickup is not worth that much according to the lienholder. The vehicle is now sitting in front of my house and has been since the new year after we had it towed from the dealership 50 miles away to our home.

While driving engine power failed and loud knocking noise was heard.upon being serviced, rocker arm was broken and caused the problems.there was no notice of this issue and it affected sudden loss of power/speed.it is noted that while searching the internet it was discovered that this appears to be a common problem with these 6.4l diesel engines.

Radiator starting leaking, replaced it twice and is leaking again @ around 60k. Leaks could cause overheating and engine failure.

The contact owns a 2008 ford f250. The contact stated that while driving 65 mph, the vehicle began making noises and stalled periodically. The vehicle was taken to a dealer for diagnosis and the contact was informed there was a cooling system leak and the radiator and hoses would need to be replaced with higher grade hoses and tanks. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified but offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 67,730 and the current mileage was 68,000.

Exhaust manifolds leak. Ford uses alumina heads with steel manifold bolts and cast iron exhaust manifolds. The three metals have different heat ranges which cause the exhaust manifolds to wrap or crack and break the bolts causing leaks.

The contact owns a 2008 ford f-250. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to respond to acceleration attempts. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was found that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was contacted about the failure. The failure mileage and vin was not available.

The vehicle was taken to a private mechanic where it was found that the egr valve assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted about the failure. The failure mileage was 190,000.

Vehicle had been driving it but it was parked for about 25 minutes, with nothing running or keys in the ignition.came out side to the smell of smoke and the engine compartment bust into flames.fire investigator said that the fire was electrical that started on the passenger side of the engine.truck was a total loss as fire spread along drivetrain to gas tank.fire department was able to keep gas tank from exploding.

The check engine light turns on ad there is a lack of power at freeway speeds. There is also a coolant leak at the center of the engine. The vehicle has a surge hesitation feeling andalack of power on acceleration. There is a noise coming from the transmission that has an odd shift.

The truck dies.driving on the road or freeway, the truck just flat out dies.no power.we have to navigate to the side of the road then turn the ignition off then turn it back on.extremely dangerous situation which happens every three weeks or so and has happened about 8 times now.

The contact owns a 2008 ford f-250. While driving 60 mph, the vehicle lost power, failed to accelerate, the engine made an abnormal noise, and white smoke was seen coming from the exhaust pipe. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure occurred intermittently. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to nhtsa. The approximate failure mileage was 240,000.

This vehicle since the last pcm update when it goes into "clean exhaust filter" mode will shoot out heavy smoke for 2 miles.this is an environmental pollution and also a safety hazard for drivers behind the vehicle.this problem has been ongoing for months. Dealer states it is"normal".

The contact owns a 2008 ford f-250. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled twice. The contact stated that the check engine light came on then a warning light displayed "find a safe place to pull over". When the engine light and the message illuminated, the vehicle stalled within a few seconds. The vehicle was in the dealers possession when the complaint was filed. The first time the vehicle was taken to the dealer he stated that they could not find anything wrong. The failure mileage was 46000 and the current mileage was 47000.

Subject owns a 2008 f250 w/ 6.4l diesel.at random, when attempting to accelerate, pull onto a highway, or otherwise increase speed, vehicle will lose power and stumble. White smoke has been noticed from the exhaust during at least one of these incidents.ford has tsb 08-25-1 which attempts to address this problem, but vehicle is past warranty, and other owners have reported the problem persists even after having the tsb performed.this is a safety issue, on august 20, 2010 we were pulling a 10,000 trailer and went to pass a slower vehicle.our vehicle lost power while passing (stumble/smoke) for approx 5 seconds, before regaining power.we could have had a terrible accident if there had been oncoming traffic present and/or power had not returned.problem is able to be duplicated.

On march 13, 2012, i filed a complaint with ford motor company customer service regarding a repair they made to my truck.the case number is [xxx].i had to replace two radiator hoses costing me $500.they were not defective due to abuse or maint. They had a design flaw per the service tech.i brought the truck in for one of them was leaking.they replaced both for they said that the other one was going to leak eventually.they were replaced with a newly designed hose to prevent the leaking.the tech stated that they have had to replace many on this model and year truck.i realize the truck was past the 3 year/36000 mile warranty; however it should have been covered under the power train warranty or ford should have covered the cost.it was a manufacture design flaw and could have blown out on the road causing a break down and highway safety hazard.all i'm asking for is that ford acknowledge the problem and a recall be mandated for the vehicle.the dealership said that was the only way i could be reimbursed.should you require any additional information please let me know.i'm sure other owners have had this same issue.also, i have in my possession the two defective and design flawed radiator hoses.i made the dealership give them to me.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

I am filing a complaint here as ford customer care referenced you in one of their responses to me. My pickup with 24,000 miles on it blew out the tank on the radiator. This could reflect as a safety issue from being stranded. From talking to the service people at lewis and clark ford in yankton sd where i had to be towed to it sounds like this is a common occurrence. I also have done a little research on line and in a short time found approximately 40 case so i am sure there are many more. Any help you could give me with this issue would be appreciated.

Radiator has failed four times.the fourth time it failed it was out of warranty.ford refuses to acknowledge the defect.

Purchase date september 13, 2007 of ford f250 truck.while driving the truck would start vibrating and i would see white exhaust smoke, truck would either lose power or increase speed without any change in acceleration.it has been in the shop over 16 times.the dealership has had the vehicle for numerous weeks and have put over 1,000 miles driving the vehicle in attempt to duplicate the problems and get a diagnostic code.march 2010 while slowing down i noticed a loss of power steering and power brakes for a second or two.by recommendation of ford our dealership has flushed the power steering system approximately 4 times.the loss of power steering and power brakes almost caused my wife to go off the road while exiting a highway.the dealership had possession of my truck for the entire month of june 2010.they were unable to duplicate the steering and brake issue.most recently while out of town i lost power steering and brakes 3 times after i slowed down to make a turn. It appears the loss of steering and brakes lasts longer.i have been informed that ford motor co. Diagnostic protocol is if the computer does not throw a code or a service tech cannot get the vehicle to duplicate the problem they are not able to do anything.we have been more than patient with the dealer, the service records and the amount of time we have been without the truck will clearly show we have given more than adequate chance to fix these problems.now at 90,000 miles i own a vehicle that i will not allow my wife or anyone else drive in fear they may not be able to react quick enough to maintain controluntil the power steering and power brakes return to function.

Fuel tank straps failed while driving letting the tank drag on a divided highway road surface and dump fuel on the road.truck shut down with no warning when all the fuel dumped out, leaving no power steering or brakes.

While towing a 10,000 pound 5th wheel trailer i needed to speed up to merge into the left lane.the truck was on cruise control set at 50 mph.i stepped down and entered passing gear.after the merge i let off the throttle but the truck continued to accelerate in passing gear.i stepped on the brakes but the cruise control would not release and the truck continued to accelerate.i tried repeatedly to disengage the cruise using the brakes.i then pressed the cruise control "off" button repeatedly to no avail.at this point i pressed and held the brake pedal as hard as i could while the diesel engine continued to race at max power.i was able to slow to about 30 mph before the engine started to overcome the fading brakes.at this point i turned the key off and coasted to a stop.i tried to restart the engine twice and it immediately started at max throttle and i immediately turned the key off.i called ford for a tow.after about 20 minutes i tried to restart the engine and it started normally so i cancelled the tow.the truck seems to be working normally and cruise also works normally.i haven't tried to enter passing gear while in cruise and won't as this incident almost cause me to have a catastrophic accident.i plan to take the truck to the dealer to be analyzed.this was a major safety problem and could easily have caused a fatal accident.

The truck will not shift out of park, even when the drivers foot is firmly placed on the brake.this is an intermittent issue.vehicle can be parked anywhere...i.e. In the garage, driveway or parking lot.all flat surfaces, (so no heavy tension on the transmission like you might have if parked on a hill and the parking brake not engaged).

When i bought my ford f250 back in 2008 i have had constant problems with the truck as i would be going down the highway the truck would lose power and i would press the gas pedal and the truck would only do around 40mph. A few weeks ago i drove from chicago up to green bay wi and then back going there about half way the truck was ok the other half way up there and back the chicago the truck was not shifting it felt like it was towing a trailer when it was not my foot was on the floor all the way and i was only doing 40mph on a 60+mph highway which i had truckers almost coming in contact with my truck. My truck has been in the shop over a dozen times and ford does not have a clue what is wrong with the truck because there computers show nothing wrong when there service tech drove the truck and said there is a problem with it but they our unsure. The last time my ford dealer stated that it might be a catalytic converter. I have contacted ford motor company about this issue and they did not want to work with me on fixing the truck only offering 20% off of the cost to fix the catalytic converter and they are not sure that this will fix the issues i have been havingi am not the only person having this problem with my truck i talked to a few other ford truck owners and they have the same problem.

The contact owns a 2008 ford f-250.while driving 10 mph on icy road conditions, the contact noticed that his four wheel drive would not engage on two different occasions.the risk of a crash was increased.the dealer stated that the vacuum hose for the four wheel drive was manufactured too short.therefore, when making sharp turns, the component would easily fail.the hose has been replaced twice at the cost of $56 per hose.the failure mileage was 40,000 and current mileage was 44,000. Updated 3/24/09 updated 03/27/09.

My husband and i just bought a new 2008 ford f-250 crew cab pickup.when i was installing the car seat, after we got home, i noticed that it doesn't have any lower anchors for the latch system.i did notice the upper tethers when we were looking at the vehicle before we bought it, so i figured it would have the lower anchors.why isn't there any lower anchors, that is part of the latch system.also, the middle seat belt in the back seat is not a retractable one, but the front passenger seat is.that does not make sense, you are not to have a child in the front seat, especially when you have a back seat.putting your child in the middle of the back seat is the safest place for them and there is not even a retractable seat belt or lower anchors for a car seat there.is ford trying to cut corners on safety?if i would have noticed that i would have thought twice before purchasing the vehicle.i thought that it was standard for all new vehicles to have the latch system.i realize that it is a heavy duty pick up but that doesn't mean that kids won't ride in them.they still need the proper safety seat options that the light duty pickups and cars do.

The contact owned a 2008 ford f-250. While driving at an unknown speed, the vehicle slid off the road due to inclement weather. The contact mentioned that the seat belt unlatched independently. The air bags did not deploy. A police report was filed. The driver sustained a broken neck, broken spinal cord, dislocated jaw, dislocated shoulder, and sprained ribs. Medical attention was not required. The vehicle was destroyed and towed. The dealer and manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

The driver and passenger seat belts come unlatched without being touched in any way.sometimes the seat belts won't even latch.this is a safety issue.the faulty seat belts are unreliable to protect my family.

Driver and passenger seatbelts will come unfastened/ unbuckled on their own.

Takata recall steering lock up and complete brake failure when turning and decelerating.three occurrences in last 3 months. Last1-10-2017

The contact owns a 2008 ford f-250. While driving approximately 65 mph, the brake pedal was depressed and failed to respond. The failure recurred twice. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who replaced the front and rear rotors, the calipers and the front and rear brakes. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 42,000.

When exiting the highway i lost the power steering and brakes. This happened multiple times over the course of several weeks. The vehicle would also lose steering pulling into parking spaces and under normal driving conditions. The brakes fade significantly under heavy use and while towing. The steering pump was replaced and the problem still has not gone away.

My vehicle has a death wobble when hitting a bump atfreeway speeds.i received a notice from ford that this is an issue with these vehicles; special field action 09l02 dated january 2018.i wasn't aware that this was a common problem, but recently talked with someone who owns the same vehicle and he happened to ask if i had the same experience.upon receiving the notice and recalling that conversation i thought i should file a formal complaint.in particular at highway speeds, a slight bump in the road can cause the vehicle to rattle and shake in a manner that makes the vehicle uncontrollable until you come to a virtual stop.i have had almost a dozen occurrences.my mechanic checked the vehicle and alignment and steering issues, tie rods and ball joint etc. Then after it happened again sent me to the tire shop.the tire shop checked the tires and sent me back to the mechanic.the mechanic checked the vehicle again, replaced some warn parts in the steering column (i believe it was a bushing somewhere, but can confirm if needed, i have records somewhere).that decreased the frequency, but i still have experienced it twice since then.it seems intermittent, and frankly almost random as i can not always recreate the conditions that cause the problem.i can travel along the same route, same speed, and not always experience the loss of control i call a death wobble.when it does happen, as described in the sfa you have to let off the gas, apply the brakes and hold the wheel straight.it's a serious safety issue, and scared the hell out of my father and daughter when they experienced it with me on a freeway overpass that curved and i had to brake hard and couldn't steer.

Slowing down exiting to the left off hi-way after about a half an hour at 70mph.brake pedal felt like it kicked back, both brakes and steering locked up, slid unto shoulder, then everything released like normal.brought to dealer, they replaced hyro-booster system and fluids.issue seemed corrected, exiting right on hwy no issue, however everything locked up again first time exiting left.after 10 days researching issue, dealer assured replacing damper assembly(?) and all four tires would resolve.issue happened again same day as pickup.being towed back to dealer for third attempt to correct.

Driving 65mph and changing lanes power steering was lost as well as power braking.after fighting the wheel hard to straighten out and braking hard i finally eased over to a stop.when stopped discovered the serpentine belt had broken, second issue in 20k miles with said belt.belt and tensioner were replaced 1.5 years and 20k miles prior.tensioners destroying belts are a known fault with 6.4l engines.i am not a small guy and i feel many would not have been able to get the truck under control with no power steering or brakes.luckily i was not towing at the time or i wouldn't have had control.

The contact owns a 2008 ford f-250. The contact stated while reversing the vehicle to hitch a trailer onto to the vehicle, the contact heard a loud noise and the brake pedal went to the floorboard. The contact shifted the vehicle into park. The contact inspected the vehicle and found that brake fluid had leaked from the brake master cylinder. Additionally, the pressure switch was fractured and caused the brake switch to become inoperable. The contact stated that the fluid pressure wiring harness was detached and hanging down. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The contact had an unknown dealer order a new brake pressure switch.the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure.the failure mileage was 110,000.*dtconsumer stated master cylinder pressure malfunctioned.

I have 46000 miles on my truck and four times my rear brakes have locked up on me. I bought the vehicle used with 17000 miles so can not tell you how many times it has happened previously. It is no wonder i got a used vehicle with so low of miles. I have lost all faith in driving this truck for any kind of distance. I have been completely unable to move stranded on the road. On another occasion i had to drive fifty miles towing a trailor with vice grips crimping my brake line after i broke thecaliper free and guess what they are locked up again.this is a real problem and very dangerous

I was on the interstate and attempting to get off at an exit when i touched the brakes they grabbed hard, the abs light came on, the abs whine started but i did not have my foot on the brakes. This caused steering to be almost impossible and there where significant downgrades on both sides of the road. While using force to turn the sterring wheel to the right to keep from goin over the embankment thye brakes released which cause me to almost go over the embanckment on the right. The brakes keep grabbing and releasing until i was able to pull off the roadway. The vehicle was towed to t he dealership and i am waiting to hear from them. This could have caused serious injury or death had the truck gone over the embankment on either side. I'm used to driving and stay pretty alert but there are those that this would have made them freeze up and it would have ended in tragedy!

Three months after purchase of a 2008 f-250 ford heavy duty truck, i noticed the brakes squeaking. On 4 occasions i have taken the truck for service to check for the cause of this problem. The first 3 times at the same dealership i was told that the squeak was caused by "road debris", and that nothing could be done to prevent this from recurring.( the dealership cleaned the brake pads).on the forth occasion, the dealership reported that the brakes were fine and had 60 % capacity. This occurred on 8/3/2010. October 15, 2010 the squeaking was so loud, we took it to a third dealership where it was found that the rear brakes were severely worn and rusted. It required a sledge hammer to remove them due to the amount of corrosion that had built up. The front brakes were fine. Our concern is that there is/was a defect in the rear brakes and that this is a safety issue, since we pull a heavy trailer. We have kept the parts for further inspection at our residence. I have contacted the ford customer care line who recommended this site. And who offered no further assistance with this problem, including how to prevent further problems.

I bought my truck in november 2008 brand new. At approximately 13000 miles i had my right front brake caliper freeze up. I was on my way home from work pulled in my driveway got out and saw smoke coming from around my left front wheel. I took it in to the dealership the following day and the dealership had to install a new caliper, pads and rotor. This was all done under warranty, unfortunately this same thing has happened 3 more times - once on the right front, once on the right rear, and again on the left front. The last time was at 48000 miles and i had to pay for the repairs because i was out of warranty.every incident was the same with the resulting repairs being the same (new caliper, new rotor, and new pads. I hope that something can be done to make ford remedy this situation before someone gets hurt. Living in michigan i drive on slippery roads and if this were to happen on slippery roads i fear what the outcome of the incident may be. This i feel is a very unsafe condition, i pull a 34 foot fifthwheel camper and would not want to experience this while pulling it. I know of at least 5 other trucks with this same problem ranging in years from 2005 to present. Ironically ford has issued a tsb on the 2010-2011 ford superduty for this exact problem. I believe they need to expand the tsb or issue a recall on all of these trucks. I am on the verge of getting rid of my truck because i feel it is not real safe to drive.hopefully something will be done about this.

2008 ford f250 - right rotor only disintegrating causing major damage to the caliper and rubber boot.had truck to dealership twice and they could find nothing wrong with the truck, now dealership is saying that it is lack of maintenance on my part.i seriously believe that this is a defective part.brake on right hand side is completely gone.i think if the dealership would have check this out better they would have found the problem while the truck was under warranty.

It happen about a month after i first got the truck. I was getting to a stop sign and the steering wheel and brakes locked, i wasn't able to turn at all and i had a really hard time braking, i had to use a lot of force to brake or to turn the wheel even a little. That happened 3 different time. At a stop sign and once at a turn light which was the worst cause i had to go straight into the opposite direction. That was all in a 2 weeks after the one month of having the truck. It was completely stock. After taking it to the dealer ship they said nothing was wrong and they couldn't do anything. 3 weeks later i bought so mud tires for it. And about 2 or 3 weeks later i started having trouble with the steering box. When id be at a stop or not moving at all, am not able to turn the wheels and it makes a weird sound when i turn the wheel. This still happens everytime time i drive when am stopping or just turned it on, anytime am not moving or steeping on the gas, am not able to turn the wheels. I took it shortly after it first happened and they test drove it and agreed something was wrong so the said they fix it. It took them a week to order parts and get it fixed, but 3 days after getting it back it started acting the same. So i took it back again and they said it was the tires i had??. But i have several friends with the same truck and tires and they have no problems. Yet they wanted me to put the stock tires back and take it to them. Haven't yet. So they told me to take it to another dealership to see what they say.

2008f250:had this truck since 9-28-08. Several occasions when applying brake my foot also touches accelerator pedal causing engineto race. Engine is very quite and do not immediately realize that condition. This is bad enough with my manual transmission.it would far worse with an automatic transmission.

The contact owns a 2008 ford f250. The contact stated when depressing the brake pedal, the accelerator pedal was simultaneously depressed. The contact believed that the two pedals were manufacturer too close to each other. The dealer was notified of the problem but the vehicle was not repaired.the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 25,000. The vin was not available. Updated 06/24/11the consumer owns four other 2008 ford f-250's. Updated 09/16/11

While in motion, at 30 mph or higher, the truck wanders left and right. Impossible to maintain straight travel...basically no centering of steering. Unsafe and it appears that you are driving as a drunk would. Also, violent shaking of steering wheel after hitting a bump at speed.

The steering wheel got stuck when i turned and never returned back on its own. The gear box has been replaced twice, this is now the third time i have to replace the gearbox, on top of all the aggravation and safety concerns i have the dealership now says they cannot get the part, it is on back order being built??? and that they might have to give me a non ford built gearbox???i have been waiting for over 1 month with no success. This truck is a business truck and i am sooo upset how this has been handled by ford. I am now going totry to file the truck under the lemon law. We need our truck. Please help!!!!

Steering box worn out after 47000 miles. Excessive play that cannot be adjusted out by any ase certified mechanic. Causes me to over steer the vehicle to keep control.

The front end of the truck will just start shaking uncontrollably.

While driving on the highway at about 50 mph, truck seemed to want to wander due to excessive play in the steering box. Steering wheel would turn about 1/4 to 1/2 way before it would react. I took it to my local mechanic and he told me it could possibly be adjusted. He checked all the linkage and steering box bolts for looseness. He tried to adjust the box but there was a flat spot on the steering gear that had worn and could not adjust because it would cause the steering to bind up and not return correctly. He told me this was very unusual for a steering box to be worn out with only 47,000 mile on the truck and that it should be replaced because it would be very unsafe to drive. After returning it to me i drove it for a few days and decided it was best to have the steering box replaced. My cost was over $700. I feel this is really a very unsafe situation for drivers to be in and have no alternative but to have it repaired. I hope ford realizes that i am not the only one that has experienced this problem and cares enough about there customers to fix this problem before it kills someone. I have owned many vehicles in my life and never experienced a problem like this with such low milage.

Vehicle has loose steering with 2 to 3 inches of play left to right. Steering sometimes does not easily move at low speeds.

The contact owns a 2008 ford f-250. While driving approximately 60 mph, the steering wheel shook violently and wobbled out of control. The contact had to depress the brake pedal harshly in order for the failure to seize. The contact stated that the wobbling of the front end caused the radiator to eventually burst. The failure recurred multiple times. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who replaced the tires and performed an all wheel alignment; however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer informed the contact that the vin was not included in any recalls. The approximate failure mileage was 123,000.

Several times while driving down the road and after making either left or right turns i feel the vehicle seeming to keep making the turn and i have to jerk the steering wheel to correct.also the steering wheel today was approximately turned to two oclock while going straight.

The vehicle was repaired. The failure and current mileage was 29,000.

Driving 60 on the highway and truck and steering wheel started violently shaking. Searched online and it is described as the death wobble.

It starts shimmying back and forth viciously and will not steer. I put on new struts, steering gear box, shocks, tires, and have spent over $,3, 000 in the past few months. I never know when this will start and have come close to several accidents. I have read many letters from people with the same problem in this model. Why is there no recall?

I own a 08' f-250 extended cab super duty. I have experienced a death wobble almost a dozen times now mostly at speeds between 60-75 mph. I brought it to the ford dealership and they originally told me it was tire pressure. It happened again and i brought it back. This time they changed the steering wheel dampener and told me that it would be fine from here on out. To no avail, same exact thing has happened 6 more times since then. Truck hit an irregularity in the road and you feel like your going to be thrown out of the truck cab. You have to grab the steering wheel as hard as you can and hold on for dear life while releasing the gas pedal and trying to brake the vehicle as gently as possible. The vehicles around you are in jeopardy of you smashing into them because of the violent nature of the shake and the loss of control of such a large vehicle.i feel like my life is in danger everytime i drive this vehicle now!

The contact owns a 2008 ford f-250. The contact stated that the steering was sluggish and, while making a turn, the steering wheel became stuck in the turn position. An independent mechanic was unable to diagnose the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 75,000.

Bring truck to 60 or above it starts to shake and wobble to the point i can't go highway speeds.. I have only owned this truck for a couple months.

While driving at speeds 55 mph or more when driving on to a bridge or change in highway,or hitting a pothole in the road the front end of my truck starts shaking violently it only stop this by slowing down to about 20 mph.the shaking is so violent you almost lose control.it happens whenever i hit a rough spot in the road.

While driving down the road at 20-40mph vehicles power steering was lost and truck began to pull to the rightveh was difficult to keep on the road..after making turn onto another street veh started pulling left..after moving steering wheel left and right from center a few times..power steering was corrected for the time of driving..this instance has occurred several times since and is usually at low speeds.i took veh to shop and was told that veh needs steering gear.

The contact owns a 2008 ford f-250. While driving approximately 62 mph, the steering wheel and both front tires began shaking without warning. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The technician diagnosed that the steering gear box needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 77,600.

When i turned off the highway the steering was almost stuck- as if the truck had been turned off. I made it to the side of the road, turned it off and back on and then it steered ok. This has happened twice before.

The contact owns a 2008 ford f-250 super duty. The contact stated that when driving over a road bump and traveling 45-65 mph, the front end of the vehicle would wobble uncontrollably. The contact had to reduce speed in order to bring the vehicle under control. The failure was experienced several times.the vehicle was not taken to the dealer to have a diagnostic performed. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 45,000 and the current mileage was 50,000.

I have had nothing but problems with the steering and front end of this truck. The dealership has replaced everything they can and now they tell me it is the steering gear box that needs replacing but that part is on back order indefinitely. I see now that the nhsta has an open investigation regarding this matter and i am waiting for a recall to be issued. It is very dangerous and wanders all over the road.

Super duty diesel is wandering left and right going down highway above 35 mph.steering box creating loose steering responses.

The steering sort of wanders all over the road, especially on turns then it gets hard to steer, yesterday while driving at highway speeds 60/70mph same issue then when over a bump then vehicle started to drift off road

Have a very bad death wobble. Spend hundreds of dollars to fix and still here.

Intermittent power steering failure while driving the vehicle, this has happened many times.the power steering will stop working while driving during turns, the steering become very hard like (manual).the failure lasts about 4 seconds.not sure how to proceed, afraid to drive.

On my daily commute to work i experienced what i have later researched to find out is called the "death wobble". The first occurrence happened while maintaining a speed of approximately 55 mph which was the suggested road speed limit, after riding over a small bump in the road my front left end initiated into a violent shaking sensation that felt as though i had just blown a tire. After reducing my speed abruptly and nearly being rear ended the front end regained its control and i continued and arrived safely to work after reducing my speed to 45 mph. I looked in the wheel hub and underneath but did not see anything out of the ordinary from plane sight. I experienced the violent shaking on multiple occasions, different locations and found myself experiencing it more and more at lower speeds and on smaller road bumps/pot holes. After day 2 i scheduled an appointment for 6/30/14 with ford service to have the repair & diagnoses. The next day 6/27/14 we had to evacuate our job site in louisiana due to extreme weather conditions and possible tornados, on my commute home, the so called death wobble occurred again and this time resulted in loosing control and crashing into a small tree because of the violent shaking and necessary braking to regain control. I was able to escape with minor damages to my front bumper. Ford is having to replace my ball joints, bearings and tie bar that will cost well over $600 in repairs excluding a new front bumper that i cannot afford to fix. I'm afraid this could result in a serious injury/fatality if not recalled and fixed. Had i gone into incoming traffic it could have been my life or theirs and i would think ford would be fully responsible. There are hundreds of similar cases from older models and even newer up to 2013, mine is a f-250 2008. Http://www.topix.com/forum/autos/ford-f-250-super-duty/tohp1m75vbfbft9il/p5.

The contact owns a 2008 ford f250. The contact stated while driving the steering wheel was loose and caused the vehicle to swerve. The local mechanic inspected the vehicle and found the steering wheel gear box needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure.the failure mileage was 44,000 and the current mileage was 45,000.

The contact owns a 2008 ford f-250. The contact stated that while driving 35 mph, the steering assist failed and the contact was unable to steer the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to a dealer for inspection where they stated that the tie rod, rack and pinion and the gear box needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 250,000. The vin was unavailable.

When traveling more than 40mph and a wheel hits a groove or bump in the road, the entire truck shakes violently and is hard to control, forcing the driver to quickly decelerate to regain control of the truck.it feels as if the tires are bouncing uncontrollably.this has been happening since we purchased the vehicle new in 2009.also when driving over railroad tracks or very bumpy roads, the brake pedal, when depressed, goes all the way to the floor. After pumping the brakes, normal braking returns, but the initial brake failure is very frightening as is the uncontrollable shaking when hitting a bump at highway speeds.

Steering gets stiff and vehicle wanders from side to side, requiring a forceful tug in the opposite direction to correct steering.when attempting to drive in a straight line, it feels like a boat chine walking, except is much harder to correct.this has happened at all speeds and on all road surfaces.began in the last 250 miles with about 143,000 miles on vehicle.

Began in 2010...death wobble....hitting a bump,,steering wheel shakes violently.....loss of confidence in the ability of the vehicle to provide safe transportation.....dealership visit was not helpful...said it was tire pressure...added a different trac bar in 2012...helped some but til produces the wobble at lower speeds.

When turning the vehicle, it feels like the power steering goes out and the vehicle turns really hard and it is nearly impossible to return the steering wheel to center without using excessive force on the steering wheel. It almost feels like you cannot recover from the turn and that you are going to crash. We took it to the dealer tonight. They will hopefully have time to diagnose the problem tomorrow and fix the issue. I suspect it is the same issue that i read the nhsta has investigated before, and i am wondering what it takes for a recall to be issued. I hope it doesn't take people dying in a crash before someone steps up and takes this issue seriously. We have maintained this vehicle meticulously and all service on the vehicle has been at the dealership since the day we bought it. Unfortunately this is not the first safety issue we have had with this truck.

This problem occurswhen the vehicle is at a stop sign or red light and i turn left or right . That's when the truck darts from left to right. I have a tough time keeping it on the road. After about a mile down the road it seems to go away. When it does happen it is a very drastic left pull then hard to the right pull. It feels like the wheel has to be turned to compensate for this action, then it takes off in the other direction.

The contact owns a 2008 ford f-250. The contact stated that while driving approximately 60 mph over an uneven road surface, the steering wheel became difficult to control as the vehicle shook abnormally. The failure occurred when the contact was driving between 55 and 60 mph and required excessive force in order to brake. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis. The technician was unable to diagnose the failure. The tires were replaced and the steering wheel was adjusted but the failure continued. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 27,600. The vin was not available.

At 65mph+- on the highway, the truck can become difficult to control / steer straight.and maintain position in lane. Have spent $6,000.00 +- with ford dealership and also an independent mechanic but they are not able to correct the problem. Ford replaced the steering box twice, new shocks, new tires, new tie rod ends, alignment, tire balancing and other new parts associated with the suspension and steering...and the problem still persists. I have been the sole owner of this truck and bought new in 2009.

Violent shaking of front wheels and steering wheel at highway speed 65-70mph after hitting bump in the road. I called the ford service dept and they said they had never heard of this problem! however, there are so many occurrences that a name has been given to the issue, the death wobble. It seems ford is in denial about this problem, they try to blame tire pressure according to online sources. There should be a safety recall forced by the nhtsa before someone gets killed, if they haven't already! i had just had the truck tires rotated balanced and air pressure checked before this trip!

The death wobble. The front end starts shaking really bad hit a bump in road going above 50 mph and will not stop unless i slow down to almost a stop.

The truck steering is uncontrollable anddangerous. When driving the truck jerk the steering wheel over into the other lane.this happens all the time when driving on regular city streets.truck turn on its own and goes into the other lane. Very hard to correct wheel will not turn back to straight position. We have taken it into 2 differentauto repair shop 4 times and no one can find the problem. We did have gear box changed and had it changed a second time to make sure this was not a defective steering box. Cant find anything wrong with it. No mechanic can find anything wrong with truck and can not fix this issue.has happened over 10 times.happens very time it is drove unknown problem! not drive able and dangerous.

While driving down the interstate our truck started shaking violently and my husband had to stop the truck to get it to stop shaking. This happened twice during our trip.

Loud pop noise on drivers side felt through floorboard. Steering became erratic with truck veering left to right and very difficult to keep in lane. If it happened at highway speeds i would have gone off the road for sure. Took vehicle in for alignment and front end inspection and nothing found out of order. Day after that it did it again. Just came back home now and it did it again with a police officer behind me. He followed me to my house and thought i had been drinking because of the way the vehicle appeared to be out of control at only 20mph. I'm scared to drive now because the frequencies between normal and not are shortening.vehicle suspension is not modified from stock.

While driving at highway speeds if i hit a bump the whole truck shakes violently to the point of losing control of the vehicle. I need to brake heavily to stop the shaking. I've read up on it and it has been dubbed the 'death wobble' and apparently is a huge problem. It is not safe to drive the truck, so i am keeping it off the road for the safety of me and those around me. Thank you.

Steering wheel locked up getting off exit when applying brakes, this has happened 4 times.

The contact owns a 2008 ford f-250. The contact stated while driving approximately 45 mph, the steering wheel became loose which caused the contact to lose control of vehicle and swerved off of the road. The vehicle was towed to a dealer for diagnostic testing where the steering gear box was replaced. The failure recurred. The vehicle was not repaired. The vin was unavailable. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 44,000.

The contact owns a 2008 ford f-250. The contact stated that while driving approximately 30 mph, the steering gear box failed without warning. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic however, had not been diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 195,000.

Takata recall steering lock up and complete brake failure when turning and decelerating.three occurrences in last 3 months. Last1-10-2017

My truck has the 6.4 diesel engine. While turning on a one lane street the vehicle failed to respond to my efforts. After a couple of seconds it responded and i maintained control. My vehicle is currently at mike white ford in coeur alene idaho getting a new motor installed.myself and the service advisor walked into the shop toheck progress on the motor install. I asked him to address the steering box recall where from the factory a steering box was installed that doesnt sit flush with the frame. This problem could result in the bolts attaching the steering box to theframe breaking due to the poor fitment. I showed him a hole where a bolt attaching the steering box to the frame was broken off. He stated to me that he didnt thom that there was a recall on the steering box. I stated that yes there was and asked hom to please fix it. This lemon of a vehicle is all that my family has to drive! i want it fixed properly. Not just shimmed and throw new bolts on it. I mean a new steering box that sits flush against the frame. This vehicle carrie's my children and grandchildren on a daily basis and needs to be safe. Thank you for your time in this matter.

The contact owns a 2008 ford f250. The contact stated that while driving 45 mph, the steering failed and leaked oil from the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis where it was advised to the contact that the gear box needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 41,000.

Since owning my f250, it has randomly experienced a severe vibration "death wobble" after hitting bumps at highway speed. So bad, that i installed a steering stabilizer to help mitigate the issue (ford didn't seem to have a better fix).i always keep my load "e "rated tires inflated per recommended pressures yet the problem persisted. On several occasions i thought that i was going to lose control of the vehicle when the vibrations happened. Ford has yet to address this issue other than to say slow down when the severe vibration occurs. For nearly 10 years this has been an accident waiting to happen for many f250 owners and ford's answer is when it happens ," slow down"? this is not an isolated occurrence unique to my vehicle; there are literally thousands who have experienced the above issue. Numerous post, blogs and videos are available on line, yet ford continues to blame the occurrence on low tire pressure and pass the responsibility for controlling a very hazardous "death wobble"to the vehicle owners. This is an issue they haveknown about for many years, yet have failed to take responsibility and correct the highly dangerous condition ford created. Any data on how many accidents can be attributed to their poor engineering/design elements that obviously contribute to the unsafe handling of their 7000 lb pluss trucks?

The contact owns a 2008 ford f-250 suprerduty diesel. The contact stated that the vehicle became very difficult to steer while driving 30 mph. The contact inspected the vehicle and thought that the failure invovled the steering box and shaft. The vehicle had not been taken to the to the dealer, but the manufacturer had been notified. The failure mileage was 36,000.updated 6/4/12

Making aleft hand turn in myf250 sd , thesteering locked and would not straighten out quickly as normal.i had to quickly animal steering back to neutral position barley missing opposite lane traffic. As i straightened thetruck out i felt the wheel being pulled to the left and right by itself.i decided to take my hands off the wheel and it darted to the left. I straightened it out and held the wheel fighting the jerking of the wheel. After a couple of miles it seemed to stop. I brought it to my mechanic. He said my front left caliber is sticking. I decided to do a complete brake job. 4 new calibers, rotors, brake hoses etc. Also he aligned the front and checked all steering components. He could not find anything wrong with the steering. I got the truck back and it stopped really good. Unfortunately the following day the steering acted up.my mechanic could not duplicate what i experienced . Knowing that he checked everything, there could only be two items left. Steering pump or steering box.i had the mechanic change the steering pump and flush the steering system. Now after spending a ton of money on all of this i was hoping it would be solved.after the steering pump had been replaced it seemed to drive like new. The next day im driving the truck feeling that the problem is solved when i made a left hand turn, i heard a loud popping noise and felt my steering wheel and column shake. Steering locked again and i had to nail the brakes so i would not collide with the median. I barely got the wheel to straighten out.this time the truck was pulling left to rightmore defined. I did all i could to keep it straight. Luckily i was only a couple of miles from my house. I could not go over 20mph or i would have lost total control of the truck.i later had the truck towed to my mechanic and he is going to replace the steering box.lives are at risk.

I have experienced an issue with my 2008 ford f-250 where i hit a bump on the interstate and experienced the steering wheel oscillating and front end wobbling both extremely doing 65mph andwas almost thrown into a semi truck twice the same night.i had just purchased this truck back in july but had not drove it on the interstate, actually i hadn't driven it much at all.it has low mileage and is all factory. I took it to the dealership and they told me this happens all the time also they stated that fords service recommends 75lbs tire pressure and that is all that is wrong with it.the trucks stickers recommendation is less than that.the wheels on my truck are stock factory and do not have low pressure sensors on them.i have researched several complaints on the internet about this issues and of accidents and injuries resulting from what is being called the "death wobble". I think this matter should be investigated and the problem fixed properly by ford, not patched with tire pressure.i pull a trailer sometimes with this truck.if this happened while pulling one i am sure i would have been seriously injured or killed as in other cases i have heard about.i am scared to death to drive this truck now. Why isn't someone doing something about this.please help us who own these vehicles.the mechanic who is a friend of mine stated that this will still happen sometimes even with the increase in tire pressure.

We have no problem with our truck until a couple of days the power steering gearbox stop working while driving. It barley works if the truck is at a stand still it will not turn at all. Their is nothing wrong with my power steering pump. I look at the top of the gear-box and notice a leak coming around the set screw that holds the bearings.

The contact owns a 2008 ford f-250. While driving approximately 10 mph, a popping noise came from the steering column and the steering wheel malfunctioned. The contact was unable to steer the vehicle in either direction and crashed into a parked vehicle. There were no injuries and a police report was not filed. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the steering shaft was fractured and detached. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 93,000.

My dealership identified during routine servicing that the steering gear box on my 2008 ford f250 diesel truck is faulty and needs replacing. The steering wheel does not return easily coming out of a turn. They recommend the steering gear box be replaced with official ford parts but then stated it could take up to 120 days to get the part.it was recommended i don't drive the truck in the meantime.i understand an investigation has been started on this problem as people have reported complete loss of steering.it is not considered a recall yet.i am very concerned and am not driving my truck but cannot wait long for a solution.

The contact owns a 2008 ford f-250. The contact stated that while driving approximately 55 mph, the contact lost control of the steering. The vehicle traveled off-road, over a ditch and into an open pasture before crashing into a row of trees. The driver's side mirror was torn off the panel and entered the driver's side window. The contact did not sustain any injuries. A police report was filed of the incident. The contact had the vehicle towed to his residence and was neither diagnosed nor repaired.the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 113,000. The vin was not available.

I took my 2008 ford f-250 to the ford dealer to have an alignment and oil change.i had the vehicle aligned approximately eight months ago but the alignment has steadily deteriorated.the vehicle has a little over 77,000 miles.i purchased this vehicle brand new and have been the only owner.i have never been "off-roading" or "mudding" in the vehicle.all miles are highway/city miles.little towing has been done with the vehicle.all recommended services have been provided by ford dealerships.there have been no modifications to the vehicle nor have there been any accidents that would effect the steering of the vehicle.the dealership called and stated that my steering gear box is about to go out.the fix for this would be over $1100.00 which i am unable to afford at this time.it seems the gear box in the "super duty" would last longer under these reasonable conditions.

Intermittent problem with steering. Sometimes steering is fine.other times truck wants to pull left after making a left turn. Same condition after right turns. I've had a couple of experienceswhile steering is pulling right or left, trying to correct the trucks jumps from lane to lane. No accident yet ! very scary!i looked the problem up on the internet they call this problem " memory steer". I also read the problem is the steering pump. The spools in the pump that shuttles power steering fluid to right or left turns are sticking. I strongly suggest a recall before a fatal accident happens.

I have a 2008 ford f250 5.4l v8 gas truck that i purchased new, i have less than thirty thousand miles on it and have experienced a near loss of control when driving interstate speeds when a bump in the road causes the front wheels to oscillate violently.the entire truck feels as though it is going to shake apart and you can not steer the truck at all until you slow to around thirty miles an hour.this is very dangerous as you can not maintain lane control and often drift into the other lane or emergency pull off lane.the truck is completely stock and has the factory tires, rims everything... I have had all service done at the local ford dealership garage where i bought the truck. I have taken it in numerous times and each time they attributed the problem to low tire pressure, even though it was exactly 75 psi as is the recommendation on the door sticker.someone is going to be killed in one of these trucks.the dealer refuses to acknowledge the problem.to replicate the "death wobble", all you have to do is drive an 08' super duty at 65-70 mph on the interstate and hit a slight bump or minor pothole, especially in a slight turn, and you will lose control and be shaken violently until you can bring the vehicle's speed down to below 40 miles an hour.i can replicate this everyday on my way to work.it happens every day, every time i go over certain bumps on the interstate.i now have to slow to below 45 miles an hour before i hit the bumps to avoid an accident.going this slow could cause an accident where the speed limit is 70.this really pisses me off.i spent alot of hard earned money on this truck to be told it is a tire inflation issue when it is definitely much more severe.i religiously check my air pressure.even if it were low, this is unacceptable and something must be done.this problem did not surface until after a year or so of driving... Approx 15,000 miles.something is very wrong, lives are at risk here. Please do something. Recall

Steering gear box seems to have broke.lose of all steering.steering wheel spins around but does not control anything now

Have been experiencing the infamous "super duty death shake" for several years now ....have had dealer inspect the vehicle numerous times to no avail ....always told it is due to tire pressure or worn tires....i check pressures regularly and never have to add more than a # or two.....new tires mask the problem but it is still there......several encounters have nearly caused accidents....usually happens at highway speed but occasionally at speeds as low as 35 mph.....violent oscillation at times havebeen very dangerous situations ....this problem needs to be rectified .....received a "recall notice related to this issue on 2/6/2018 ....was told by ford on 2/7/2018 that they have no plans to fix this dangerous issue

2008 f250 6,4 powerstroke 4x4 drive above 55 and hit rolling bump and the front end starts shaking violently steering wheel also shakes. I have had everything inspected and everything is tight as a vehicle with only 59,000 mile should be. The more i drive it the worse it gets its starting to just shake randomly without hitting a bump.

In the 2008 ford super duty pickup (all body styles) the driver and all passengers except the center seat are approximately 50% in the crush zone in the case of a side crash.this renders these consumers very likely to experience severe head and chest trauma, or more likely death in the case of a side crash.this was discovered no later than 13 months before being released into the public, but the program level managers in the company continued and eventually launched a vehicle with a known risk of fatalities.the design is being changed in 2010 to prevent detection by new fmvss testing on light trucks. (side pole)the tread act was designed to ensure accountability for recklessly endangering the health and safety of consumers by requiring auto companies to immediately notify nhtsa as soon as a danger is discovered.in the case of the 2008 super duty f series, the side impact danger was a known risk long before the vehicle was introduced to the public, and the company controls were used to protect the design from scrutiny, thus endangering lives.given the planned volume of 400,000 per year, this design flaw merits the maximum $15,000,000 fine for this violation.the philosophy of my superiors was that ford's only responsibility is to pass government testing, similar to the approach regarding the firestone/explorers risk of rollover.updated 9/24/13

Ford death wobble. Towing a 5th wheel camper at 65 mph. Hit a bump on pa turnpike. The front end shook violently. Almost lost control. Made a panic slow down to 25 mph to regain control.

This vehicle has no aftermarket alterations and the front end parts are in satisfactory condition but at certain speeds when hitting a bump the vehicle shakes uncontrollably as if it is going to explode! it only happens on the highway.

I was simply driving down the hwy and hit a small bump in the road, my truck began to shake uncontrollably and continued to do so until i slowed way down.i made it to the next exit and dropped it off at the local ford dealership.it startled me so much that i didn't want to drive it like it was.this is the third time this has happened but the first two times were not as extreme.the dealer so far has told me they think it is tire pressure but im not buying it.. I searched for recalls and found none but i found a lot of complaints about the same or similar problem.i don't know what the problem is but it is definately very dangerous and should be looked at for a possible recall.if there had been more traffic i could have caused an accident as it was a very violent shaking.

Thank you.

The front end of the truck will just start shaking uncontrollably.

Violent front end shaking when i run over a pot hole or bad spot on the interstate..

The contact owns a 2008 ford f-250. While driving 40 mph, the vehicle shook. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 186,000.

Truck has started doing the "ford death wobble" truck violently shakes at certain speeds until you slow down or stop the vehicle. The vehicle was in motion on a highway traveling at speeds around 60mph.

Driving 60 on the highway and truck and steering wheel started violently shaking. Searched online and it is described as the death wobble.

The death wobble. The front end starts shaking really bad hit a bump in road going above 50 mph and will not stop unless i slow down to almost a stop.

Have a very bad death wobble. Spend hundreds of dollars to fix and still here.

'08 ford f250. Severe front end shimmy. Ford said that this is related to tire pressure. Ii have owned 5 f250's and did not experience this until ford went to coil spring/trailing arm front suspension. Tire pressure on a truck is relative to the load carried. My dealer just quoted the company line and did nothing. The company did send out a notice concerning the problem, so obviously they are aware of it.i believe this is a design flaw that warrants your attention. The various forums on line with ford truck owners cites this again and again. When the shimmy happens it is difficult to control the truck, particularly in a curve. If i put company recommended pressure of 80psi in my tires in an empty truck, it would be a safety hazard related to traction and also greatly reduce tire mileage. It appears to me that ford changed the front suspension design with no long term research and development and therefore is marketing a unsafe and defective product.i respectively request you look into this matter and anything you can do will be sincerely appreciated.

Recall

Driving along a rural road at 50 mph, truck began to shake, could barely hold it in the road. Had tires checked at crossroads ford where truck was purchased just 5 months ago. Was told that continental had recalled called tires on 2008 f250 trucks but tires on this truck were not part of the recall. Contratrac p515 46u0 3207. Very dangerous to drive.crossroads ford offered to sell us more tires. Unsure what to do.

The contact owns a 2008 ford f-250. The contact was driving approximately 60-80 mph and over a road bump when the front end began to shake uncontrollably causing him to loose control of the steering. The vehicle was inspected by a dealer and they advised him that the tire pressure was too low. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 87,000. The vin was unavailable.

2008 ford f250 has a problem with the tire pressure sensor system. *njthe consumer stated an alarm message appeared as if the tires had low pressure.within the last 18 months, the consumer stated there had been six alarm messages.two were for out of specifications pressure and four were for sensor fault. In each case of the pressure alarm, all four tires were within 2 psi of each other. Which was verified by the dealer.the consumer was informed the sensor needed to be trained in the dealers shop. Once it was done the problem ceased. The problem seemed to recur after tire rotation, however only under certain circumstances. No alarm was forthcoming while driving around town, but as soon as the consumer drove on the interstate and traveled approximately 4 miles at 65 mph, the alarm activated. The consumer was given several explanations as to why it was happening. He was first told it was his cell phone causing the problem, but the problem persisted, next he was told that the tires should be inflated with nitrogen, as it would stop the pressure variations and avoid the alarm. 2 sensors were replaced. Updated 08/07/09.the consumer was told the system was designed that way and no problem existed. Updated 08/20/09.

The contact owns a 2008 ford f-250.the vehicle has a 2006 pilot trailer.the contact stated that the trailer cable that hooks onto the rear of the vehicle failed.the original design was flawed and caused him to lose the trailer lights, as well as unnecessary wear and tear to the braking system.the current and failure mileages were less than 1,200.updated 8/18/09 updated 08/21/09

Thecruise control failed to turn off.after several hours of highway driving with the cruise control turned on, i was not able to turn the cruise control off by using the cruise control on/off switch or by braking.the truck accelerated when the brakes were applied.after several attempts to turn the cruise control off it finally turned off by braking.

Have a very bad death wobble. Spend hundreds of dollars to fix and still here.

The contact owns a 2008 ford f-250.while approaching a stop sign at 10 mph, the vehicle accelerated without warning.the failure occurred on multiple occasions.the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure.the vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was notified.the failure mileage was 55,000.

I just had purchased a 2008 ford f-250 super duty.i have driven many different vehicles over the years and have never experienced something like this. The accelerator pedal and brake pedal are too close together and approximately the same level as well.i was putting on the brake to stop and it is too easy to keep pressing the accelerator pedal while trying to push the brake pedal. I have only driven it for a few hours to transport it, but it has happened four times in the first seven stops.i'm thinking there should be a fix or safety recall for this sort of thing. If this sort of thing is happening to new drivers, it is a potential hazard.i'm afraid to let others drive the vehicle. I was very fortunate.i almost crashed into a car and a post.

My husband woke up and went out to start his truck so it would be warm for our 1-yr old twin babies to get in the car.when he went to put the babies in the back seat, the rear passenger window was blown out from the inside out; the glass looked bubbled.he immediately took the car to the glass shop and was advised that because ford doesn't use the proper seal on it's rear windows that this can occasionally happen.the window blew up from the heat inside the car...it's 30 degrees here this morning.we then took the vehicle that is still under warranty to our local ford dealership and we were advised that it's not covered under warranty.so i'm looking at $800 for a whole entire back window that has to be replaced.this concerns me as if one of my babies was in the car when this happened, we would have some serious health issues....this is a huge safety concern.because of their faulty seal, our window exploded.

Cooper discovery tires lt275/65r18separations (all four within a month) noticed rough/ wobbly ride at all speeds. Took to tire store where purchased, told tread / belts separating. Replaced the two bad tires, told there was no recall, received prorate on tires as there was good tread remaining. Couple of weeks later the other two have same issue. Replaced with another brand tire.

Thank you.
