We first had the front brakes pull right we had the truck in 2-3 times for that problem they finally fixed it. But now the brakes pull left.they do not know how to fix the problem.the engine/electrial problem.all of the sudden everything electical quits working. I didn't know how to classify this problem.they replace a module and it still happens. We are awaiting for them to fix again.on the tires one blew out in the middle of the night on a very dark road 1 mile from the house my husbad drove it home took it in the next day and the refused to fix because he drove on it.approx a month later we were on a road driving only approx 45 mph. My husband felt something when we were at a light,we pulled in to a store just passed the light got out and the back right tire had blown.we changed the tire took it in and they said they are not on a recall even through they clearly had the white ring all around the tire where it had come apart.we replaced the tires with cooper tires.we still have the tires.goodyear inspected and agreed it was due to poor manufacturing. On the warranty problems we contacted the manufacture arbitration board. They stated since we use the truck for business we can not have the truck replaced.no where in any of my documentation states that.if this were so we would not have bought the truck.the dealership knew we used the truck for business.the business consist of a handyman business.the most we do to the truck is put on miles. I jump started, continued the trip only to discover the heater fan still operating! after further checks, my ford dealer provided a tsb 04-23-9 which had no warning of the potential electronic malfunctions or damages and not mailed to me. I had the defect corrected by a local shop and ford was mailed my complaint on 11/28/2012 and have received no answer. I have had more than enough mailing for service and ford should have been required to inform me.

Tail light bulb socket burnt.noticed that bulb acts like it's blown but reseating allows it to function again.this happens about once a month. No fuses are tripped which is odd. However the first time i checked this i noticed the socket was scorched yet wiring looks ok.i assumed it was just my vehicle but since have heard same report from others on their trucks and cars.there is no indication of danger until you remove tail light to check bulb.

Tow truck driver (larry's towing 281-342-981, rosenberg tx) said this was the second ford truck(model year 2000, that he had towed with same problem, just stopped running. This problem which could easily had led to fatal accident when stopped on rail line is apparently well knwn to tow truck drivers , thus must also be known to ford, but they have no recall etc.2

Went to start engine in the truck after setting over night under my carport and spark plug blew out of the head . This truck has a 5.4 liter v8

Blown out spark plug with original equipment.

I have a 2000 ford f-250 with a v-10 engine.i have had 5 of my 10 spark plugs blow out in the last year.4 of them required a helo-coil replacement at a cost of about $1,600.00 total.the spark plugs blow out without warning ripping the threads out of the heads, rendering the truck useless.in that last incident i was towing a camper when it blew leaving me in an extremely hazardous and dangerous position.i can not emphasize how dangerous this problem is.ford tells me i now need new heads at a cost of about $5,000.00.fords states they are not responsible and will not do anything about this, even though their have been thousands of complaints for this issue.they tell me that it is up to the nhtsa to make a recall.and until they do nothing will happen.this is unbelievable..... This is not a blown muffler or a blown windshield wiper. This is a serious problem that has been going on for years yet nothing is being done.will the nhtsa stand tall here and order a recall or push it off?

The spark plugs on my truck have blown out of the head gasket while driving on the highway.i have spent over $1300 repairing/replacing the spark plug and threads on the heads.i have been reading on the internet where other ford owners are having the same problem and it appears that nothing is being done to correct the problem. This has happened twice to me since i have owned the truck.the first time was in february 2011, second time was april 2015.

The truck has an intermittent high idle problem.when slowing down, (either by downshifting the manual transmission or coasting to a stop), the engine will sometimes idle at 1500 rpm rather than the nominal 700-800 rpm.if i don't come to a complete stop (like when turning onto my street), the idle will remain high trying to make the truck go faster.if i do come to a complete stop (like at a stop sign), the engine will idle down the second i come to a complete stop.i am concerned about not only my but others safety as the truck tries driving faster than i want when the idle is high.i have taken the truck to several dealers who have performed many services to the truck in an attempt to diagnose and solve the problem but to no avail.i have replaced numerous sensors on the truck with original ford equipment but again no improvement.i have contacted ford directly but all they tell me is to take the truck to my ford dealer.i am out of options as the ford dealer cannot seem to diagnose this problem and along with it my concern for safety.

The contact owns a 2000 ford f-250. While driving 40 mph, the contact noticed an abnormal noise coming from the engine compartment. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the spark plugs blew out and the engine cylinder head needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 163,000.

Spark plug blew while driving on a city street, going 30 miles per hour.

Blue a spark plug out of head, broke coil in process while driving down highway at about 45mph.

I have had three different occasions where the spark plug has blown out while i was driving to and from work and two of the three times i almost hit another vehicle.we fixed them with new parts from auto store but was reminded that the repair is only temporary.two or the three times i was on a highway in busy traffic and the other time i was on a rural road.

This is my third problem with the same truck. The spark plugs have been blown out of the head.every time that i have had this problem happen i had taken it to a shop and they have fixed it. This has happened to three diff. Plugs, not the same one.this last time that this happened the shop told me that the plug stripped it out so bad that it cant be fixed and that i need a new head or engine.i have been reading alot about this and nothing is happen, so i thought that i would report it as well.

I was driving my 2000 ford f-250 super duty pick up truck at 35 mph, when i heard a loud bang, i pulled over right away , when i popped the hood, i seen the coil with the spark plug on the other end ! it had blown right out of the engine ! i have read a lot of blogs out their and i was very lucky, because some people have had this happen and the plug blew out with such force it hit the fuel injectors and cause an engine fire ! i do not have the amount of money that ford is charging to fix this issues that they have known for years that i have been reading ! their has been people that are retapping where the plugs are going into only to have this happen to another spark plug ! someone is going to get killed here and ford needs to step up to this problem these 5.4 liter triton motors are having ! i am in the military and just came home from iraq and really dont have to money to get it fixed the right way ! hope you can help ?

Blew #2 plug out of cylinder head on a ford f 250 v10 triton engine at 36k miles and then recently at 85 k miles. Problem lies in the manufacturing/design by ford. Why no recall?????i have to replace the head totaling nearly $ 4000.00 to fix this!talked to 3 other ford truck owners locally, and they all have had plugs blow out of their ford trucks too!what gives????? this is sad as this has been happening for several years now and ford still feels like they are not responsible!!!

After waiting for a steering gear box to arrive at the local ford dealership for several weeks, my truck was returned to me.several days later, i had to hit the brakes rather hard to avoid running over a bottle ion the road.as i hit the brakes, i tried to turn to go around the bottle.i noticed that steering the truck is extremely difficult when there is pressure on the brakes.when i removed my foot from the brake pedal, normal steering returned.as i was treated poorly (to say the least ) by the local ford dealership, i returned to the dealership where i purchased the vehicle.this involved a 120 mile round-trip drive.the vehicle was returned to me today.when i got the truck back, the service madvisor, jack dugan, told me that this is "a characteristic of the truck" and that they could do nothing about it.he added that if i didn't like the way it handled, contact ford.my response is, with all of the press about the f-250, (thanks to nhtsa) why do ford marketing representatives deny the existence of the problem.apparently, mike vaughn, of ford motor co., spoke with nhtsa and said that ford is cooperating with the investigation.also, if i remember correctly from driver's education, in the event of a skid, you should steer in the direction of the skid.this is impossible to do with this truck.i can foresee many accidents due to this system.according to jack dugan, the brakes and steering use the same power booster.i tow a 23' travel trailer that weighs about 5,000 lbs.i am afraid to tow the trailer because of this situation.this has put quite a damper on our summer activities.can you tell me how the investigation is going and what i should do about the problem?i like the truck overall, but cannot believe the run-around i get from ford and casa ford in el paso.borman auto plex has treated me very well throughout this dilema.please keep up the good work.i gave a copy of the nhtsa printout to jack dugan at borman auto plex.

We had just had new firestone transforce ht tires put on our truck. Approximately four months later, as we are traveling down the highway at 65 mph, we felt a serious vibration in the left rear tire. We slowed down to 60 mph & that's when the tire blew out. We pulled to the shoulder of the highway to inspect & the tire blew out the sidewall. We did not hit anything & no road hazard caused this damage. We simply felt as a serious vibration & within a half a mile or mile it blew out. The shop where we purchased the tires charged us for another tire. This should have been covered by warranty but we went ahead and paid for it because we needed the vehicle for work. It continued to have severe vibrations which cause difficulty steering the vehicle in acceleration & in braking. So we had everything replaced on the front end. After this, the truck still felt unstable...the vibration was still there and it was still difficult to steer.. It also had a tendency to pull from one side to the other & at all times & my air pressure was at spec. Then just recently, we notice that all the tires, including the one that we had replaced from the blowout, were coming apart on the side walls. There were cracks all around the sidewall of every single tire. This caused quite an alarm to us as we had been driving this truck & could have been seriously injured or killed had we not notice this flaw! there's a problem with these tires and it is serious! there's also also a problem with some of your dealers as well, because they also refused to replace these four tires under warranty just as they did for the blowout. They prorated my tire usage with no known mileage of when the tires were originally purchased because they didn't document it.all five of these tires should have been replaced under factory warranty with no charge! they need to be recalled immediately before someone gets killed!

Vehicle loses power steering on occasions of simultaneous heavy use of brakes and steering.i pray it doesn't happen at high speeds or in a difficult situation.

At very slow speed with the brake applied (such as front & back parking maneuvers, or jacking a trailer into a tight spot), the steering has almost no power assist. I didn't mention it to the dealer until february of 2001,and he told me that this was "normal" and gave me a copy of a service memo from ford stating that this is normal and "no repairs should be attempted". Around november of 2001 i received a survey form from ford asking basically how i liked my truck. I told them about my concern with the steering. I actually received a call from ford about my problem. They also called the dealer and we set up an appointment for the dealer to look at the problem. On 12/11/01 the dealer's service manager personally checked-out the problem (with me along), and agreed that the steering problem was not normal and his comment was "it's like the wheel is against a rock". He said that he had not experienced this problem before, and would call the ford engineers. He called me later that same day and informed me that ford was adamant that the condition is "normal" and absolutely no repairs should be attempted. They said that he could change all the power steering parts, and that it would probably not make any difference and that they would not pay him to do any work on the problem. I was told the problem is caused by the hydroboost system diverts all of the power assist to the brakes at low speed and not to the power steering, and nothing could be done about this design. The ford engineer gave the dealer a report number to use if there is any further reference to this situation. The report number is "1lkeb013" dated 12/11/01. On 12/12/01 i called back to the customer assistance person that originally called me (rosa at 1-800-393-3673x2452) and report the results. She informed me that there was nothing more that she could do because the ford engineer declared the problem to be normal operating characteristics.

Power steering does not work while brakes are applied. Dealer says this is a normal operating condition.

When braking hard and trying to turn/steer as in accident prevention and evasive maneuvering, the steering will lock momentarily. It is a hard situation to duplicate since it is a reactionary action and is adrenaline powered, but it can be simulated with the engine on and the vehicle in park. ?dealer insists this is a normal condition and there is nothing to fix!!! this has occured twice within the month of may and both incidents resulted in near collisions.

Vehicle has experienced many problems with power steering, dealer has replaced entire steering column, hydraulic lines twice on power steering pump, hydra boost twice, power steering unit, and had to fill power steering fluid because it was low, during these repairs dealer has made the aftermarket security system fail, power windows fail, and turn signals fail, dealer agreed to pay for the aftermarket security system failure, however has not done so, consumer has exhausted every resource to have problem corrected and feels ford should buy vehicle back.

Power steering fails at low speeds, especialy when brakes are applied.

When holding the brakes on level ground or a steep hill whle standing still, it is virtually impossible to turn the steering wheel until the brakes are released.this is a very dangerous situation especially on steep inclines.ford dealer says it's due to steering geometry but yet it is worse when engine comes off fast idle and power steering pump is turning slower due to lower engine speed.on a recent trip i was in a friends rather steep driveway in the smokey mountains and it was almost impossible to back out of driveway as i couldn't hold the brakes and turn the steering wheelat the same time to steer out on to the main drive.had i released the brakes i would have crashed through a retaining fence and went down the the side of the mountian.it is often necessary to to position the wheels while holding the brake at a standstill, especially in mountainous terrain.ford needs to rectify this situation as soon as possible.my ford dealer has received numerous other complaints regarding this condition and it is a topic of conversation on many online bulletin boards so it is not an isolated incident peculiar to my truck only.

Power steering had seized up whenbrakes were applied. Would have no control of vehicle when it happened.problem been happening over a short period of time, but not getting worse. The dealer was unable to solve the problem.

Turning locks when brakes applied at low speeds. Nearly impossible to park the vehicle because steering is impeded. Ps pump replaced twice without any correction. Believe problem lies in the fact that the ps pump serves as a brake assist pump and is not pumping sufficiently to operate both the brakes and the steering. Condition appears to be rampant as numerous complaints are noted on nhtsa's web page.should be investigated, possible mfg. Defect.

I am on 3rd power steering pump and 2nd. Hydrobooster in 53000 miles 3rd. Pump failing again i am already out 1600 dollars on these repairs.ford has a major proublem with these trucks and are doing nothing about it .

Question - i read in the newspaper that there was a problem with the some steering component of the f250 ford pickup; however, the article did not elaborate.could you please provide any additional information before i take it into the dealer. Informational, no safety defect listed.

Information provided by owner's attorney, eric g. Kraft, of klenda, mitchell, austerman & zuercher, l.l.c., ph. (316)267-0331, fax (316)267-0333.please contact attorney for further information/details.ford has been contacted and has denied that any such defect exists.owner's insurer has determined that subject component is defective and refuses to cover the loss of the component, although has covered other loss associated with the collision.

Since purchase of vehiclesteering has had problems.when turning steering wheel there is a delay. Consumer turns wheel 1/4 of a turn and vehicle will not respond. Dealer has tightened steering andgearbox. Did not remedy problem. Dealer stated ford is aware of problem, but has no remedy.also the vehicle steers left and right.

Ring and pinion failed also steering gear box rattles.

Ring and pinion failed also steering gear box rattles.

While applying the brakes, the steering becomes difficult to turn.in some cases, the steering wheel will not turn at all.

Swing-away passenger side on 2000 f250 - can not see cars in next lane - safety hazard.

We just bought this truck and the old man that owned it has used a bungee cord to keep it shut but we prefer not to do that so i'm letting the proper authorities be aware that the driver's door latch won't stay shut, something wrong with the latch, the door opens when driving.

When brakes are applied with force, truck will not steer. This is a major concern and all 1999, 2000, 2001 250 and 350 trucks have same problem. Dealer has been contacted. Ford tech notes state (11/13/00: "...this is a normal condition and ford isn't going to reengineer the vehicle to solve it. The condition comes from a new wider stance, tie rod angle and the fact that there is more weight in the front end than on the 97 old body style vehicle. The truck cannot be reengineered to solve the customers design issue unless the entire platform is redesigned. Ford is not going to incorporate a design change at this time and has not plans on the drawing board that the the hotline knows about." there will be fatalities because of thisbrake/steering problem! .

The vehicle bed did not hold the cab as designed, the structure of the vehicle was weak.

Brackets holding fuel tanks have corroded allowing the fuel tank to drop.i noticed it when i parked my truck in the driveway.i have since put a chain around to try to prevent it from dropping entirely and exploding.

Truck had been parked all afternoon at work. Upon leaving work there was a sudden loud noise that went on for a few seconds and then stopped. Immediately i thought i had hit something but once the vehical was stopped i saw that the uniroyalliberator a/t tire had been the issue. It had tread seperation and had destroyed the bed of my truck when it came apart.

The vehicle would pull to the left or right when the brakes were applied, dealer stated they were aware of the problem, however there was no remedy . Ts

Consumer states the vehicle constantly pulls to the left. Took to deaelr and dealer could not duplicated, after which consumer took vehcle back out on road.as a result consumer loss control of vehicle and landed in a ditch.please provide any further information. Ts

Consumer purchased a camper top. Suspension is too weak to support this camper, back end sinks down about 3 inches when camper is put on. Which in turn puts front end up.consumer has a hard time looking overhood ofvehicle.

While driving 65-70 mphand towing a trailerextreme vibration occurred which caused loss of vehicle control, resulting intruck and trailer turning over. The air bags did not deploy during the accident and the trailer was total loss.

When at a stop not able to turn wheels while brakesare applied. Consumer hears a popping noise when turning left or right, and when front suspension goes up and down ,it will squeak. Dealer cannot determine or locate defect.

When turning left or rightvehicle will shake. When pulling from a drop off or parking lotthere was a loud humming noise. Then, it faded away. Driver also, when putting in gear, there was a clunck noise then a jerk.

While driving 30 mph and higher, steering wheel jerks out of consumers hands, causing a loss of vehicle control, consumer states that there is a problem with the front suspension, if a rough surface is hit, steering will jerk out of drivers hands, vehicle will bounce around sideways out of control, dealer installed shimmy shock to attempt to correct problem, consumer states it helps, however has not completely remedied problem.

Was driving and applied the brakes, pedal started to chatter. Stopping distance was diminished. Took to dealership and was informed that rotors were warped. Was not under warranty for repairs. Electrical crossedwires in alternator system were smoldering. It was repaired.front end would make clunking noise while turning. Nothing was found.

Steering is defective. Steering wheel wanders off in another direction due to ball jointsbeing defective.

The oem shock absorbers were defective causing the vehicle rebound 2-3 cycles after hitting a bump and caused the tires to develop moderate cupping, the position of the drivers side oem shock absorber top bolt had a sharp edge and was rubbing a hole in the outer jacket of the hydraulic hose exposing the inner braid, consumer explored the possibility of repositioning the hose but a hose support clamp would not allow such positioning.nlm

Both my right and left front tires have developed sidewall failures-one at under 12000 miles and one at under 15000 miles.tires have developed large sidewall bubbles or convexities of around 3 inches in diameter and 1 inch in height. Ford does not warranty the tires so i've had to deal with general tire. A person at the 800 phone number for general tire mentioned that this could be two isolated defects, perhaps a bad batch, or perhaps the tire selected by ford may not be appropriate for the weight of the vehicle. This is consistent with my concerns, as the truck has a diesel motor which is quite heavy, and both front tires developed the same problem early in the tires' treadwear. One tire dealer said he's seen it before, so i am concerned that the tire cannot stand up tot he weight of the diesel engine. Ford says to contact general tire, and general tire will only warranty the individual tire as it fails. Nobody seems to have the responsibility for warranting that the tire is appropriate for the vehicle. This may be two rare and isolated incidences, but i feel that 100% front tire failure is a safety concern that warrants looking into. I'd be interested in knowing what percentage of these tires are replaced on ford diesel-powered trucks, but only general tire knows the answer.( dot number: tire size: lt235/85r1 )

I was traveling eastbound on i-10 @ monroe st. In indio, california at approximately 65 mph. I felt the truck start to shake and vibrate, immediately started slowing down. I looked in my mirror and saw the tread come off . Within 1 - 2 seconds, i heard a loud explosion when the tire blew up. As all this was happening, i was pulling off the road and stopping. When i did get stopped, i had traveled approximately 1/8 of a mile. Looking back at the tire tread, i observed another vehicle striking the tire tread and knocking the treadinto the center divider and unfortunately, felt it far too unsafe to try to cross two or three lanes of heavy traffic to retrieve the tread.
