Front of truck totaled from 2 impacks but no airbags came out.

Twice i was hit in the front end and twice the airbags did not go off. Is it possible the air bags arent in there at all?

I am submitting a complaint in the hopes that i will get some answers. Having just come off the interstate 40 onto our 14 acres, both air bags in a vehicle we owned exactly 23 days, deployed - destroying the cab interior of the truck. I phoned the manufacturer immediately and was instructed to take it to the nearest dealership for inspection. Two months later, following an electronic diagnosis of the vehicle, ford informed me that the sensors registered three crashes and that it looked as if the right fender had been replaced, the radiator support was still broken and the headlamps and grill were loose. I don't know what this means and i am requesting information as to what would cause an air bag to deploy under these conditions. I am not implying or placing responsibility when i don't understand how this could have happened. If you have any information, i would appreciate any assistance you can provide. My truck has been sitting unused since july 21st and i am afraid to place my family in any further jeopardy based on the damage to the controls and interior. Thank you in advance.

On january 30, 2001 our vehicle was involved in a one car collision with a bridge overpass causing a total loss to our truck. This was mainly a front impact with collatoral damage to the rest of the truck. My wife was in the passenger seat, our son was in a rear seat and all were wearing our seatbelts. Luckily for us the seatbelts did their job and our only injuries were related to the seat belts holding us in place. Although the front of the truck was heavily damaged neither airbag deployed as they should have. Since there were not serious injuries we were not concerned about the airbags not deploying. My nagging concern was what if we had needed them? that is why i've decided to report at this time plus we received no acknowledgement from ford that they are addressing the problem. Thank you.

Last march of 2004 one of my employees was driving our companys truck 1999 ford f-250. When smoke rised from the hood and the truck burst into flames. His dog was trapped in the backseat and was passed out from smoke. Fortunately the dog was rescued by aaron m foster my son and employee who was driving the ford. We had liability insurance only and they wouldnt cover the truck, resulting in a complete loss.

Driving down the road, i heard this loud pop sound.immediately following, were multiple popping sounds, so i pulled into the immediate parking lot on my right to take a look.upon examining the engine, i discovered that the 3rd spark plug was blown out.had to get a ride to napa to get more spark plugs.after several attempts at trying to replace it (being the mechanically inclined person that i am) i realize that i had a bigger problem on my hands.the threads are shot and will now have to have my vehicle towed to a nearby facility for repairs that are estimated between $1500 to $2000 (conservatively).

The head gasket was not operating correctly and that the vehicle kept blowing spark plugs.*nlm

1999 ford f250 experienced problems with the cigarette lighter.*mrwhen the lighter was hot it would pop out of it's chamber and onto the floor of the vehicle.the consumer was concerned that a fire would occur.the dealer was able to fix the problem.

Spark plug in the #7 cylinder suddenly blew out, ford comments were that they were sympathetic, but that the cost of repair would be born by me($3000.00). After doing some internet research i find this seems to be a problem with many others who utilize the 5.4 liter engine, even the dealer acknowledges he has had several cases. These were factory installed original plugs. *ph *nlm**dimsii ivoq entry posted after 12/12/02 cut over to artemis**768315

While driving 55 mph a loud banging noise was heard from the front. Consumerpulled over, lifted up the hood, and noticed that a spark plugpopped out of the socket. Consumerdrove the vehicle to the dealer for inspection, and mechanicdetermined that thespark plugsbecame looseand separated. They needed to be replaced, butproblem was not resolved. The vehicle's engine had to be replaced because the threads holding the spark plugs were manufactured in the engine block.the treads wore due to engine vibration.

The contact owns a 1999 ford f250.while driving 70 mph, the lights blinked on and off on the instrument panel.the contact assumed that the failure was due to bare wires under the steering column.when the vehicle was running, the lights flickered on and off habitually when the steering was in use.the dealer stated that the failure was not a safety issue.the purchase date was unknown.the current mileage was 124,000 and failure mileage was 97,000.

On july 18th 2012 i was taking hollywood blvd to go to the stores and all the sudden the truck just shut off i was able to put the emergency brake and dint' hit anybody. I had it towed to my home. Then a few dates later we took the truck to a ford dealer were they charge us for checking the truck and the mechanic from the ford dealer and other people i know that has the same vehicle have had the same problem. And they all told me the same it is a manufacture error and it is so and so bad that the part it is in back order is worth $600.00 dollars my question to you is why we the people that purchase these vehicles be responsible and have to pay for a part that the ford manufactured made an error they should replace the part at no cost to us the customers. Because the ford is the one that made the gem module defective we should not be responsible for that.thank you

My truck was parked at work. When i got in the truck to leave i went to start it and i had heard a loud bang from under the hood followed by a clattering sound. I opened the hood and found that i had blown a plug. This is a known issue for ford 4.6l 5.4l 6.8l engines. I know this is not the first time someone has reported this issue and i think its about time a recall is issued for this problem.

A major loss of power while towing a load. The loss was significant enough the first time that the truck could not shift into higher gears. Could only manage 55 mph max. When i arrived home, took it to my local dealer to have it repaired. They had it for 10 days and were unable to locate any problem. They reprogrammed it, again, and gave it back with a significant bill. The problem persists. The next time i used it to haul a load, it did it again, only this time i was attempting to pass. Could not complete pass and fortunately was able to get back in behind the vehicle i was trying to pass and avoid a head on collision. It's dangerous! the problem is subtly worsening. Since that last episode i did some research of my own, besides contacting ford corporate direct numerous times and the dealer, i discovered there is a history of all sorts of trouble with their v 10. I discovered last night that many others have experienced what i am attempting to correct, all with the same results, no repair. All ford would do is to continue telling me over and over to just go to my dealer as they know all. They do not! i am still in contact with my dealer regarding this problem with no options available. I am about to replace a few parts myself in an attempt to correct it myself. Per my research, it became very apparent that ford's computer for engine operation and diagnosis is flawed as there were never any number indications revealed to indicate the source of the problems, per numerous others as well as myself. It is now obvious that ford is well aware of this problem but is covering it up instead of addressing it. This problem also appears to be happening to vehicles much newer than mine.this vehicle is dangerous when under load. There may already have been accidents caused by this chronic problem, i do not know. But i do know that this vehicle is a disaster waiting to happen.

This is my 2nd replacement of a throttle positionsensor. Very expensive repair! $500-600 (basically a new pedal assembly.)what is disturbingly unsafe is the driver will lose all throttle response anytime and unknowingly random timing. Could be on the freeway (with traffic on your butt! could be at a light turning left! could be crossing a intersection or railroad crossing that you were stopped at! it is very unnerving to step on the pedal and have no response when your very own safety is at stake!i feel ford is hiding this issue for decades and gouging the consumer multiple times! please help me right this wrong. I notice a lot of posting on others having this issue for years!!! why is toyota held accountible for such minor issues like a floor mat hold down point and an american manufacturer can tell you "sorry"there is no recall or free repair for such important function of a vehicle??? i pray that no one is killed and forces a huge lawsuit.. Because ford won't recover from the claims! again ,,i want you to think about this the next time you have your family in the car and you are in the position to safely move when your foot moves the gas pedal and nothing happens! this is bs,, the cover ups need to stop!.

I was heading back to college in brookings sd, when i was stopped waiting for a train to pass. After the train passes i put it from park into drive and right when i started moving i hear a loud pop. After i drive another block to a gas station to lookunder the hood i came to the conclusion that i had blown a spark plug. And it took out the ignition coil with it and striped the threads on the head. Along with that there was gas everywhere on the drivers side of the engine block. That's not only sucks because i had to pay to get it fixed,i'm in college i don't have money to pay for this. But if that gas would have hit i spark my truck could have blown up. Please take responsibility for ur mistakes ford.

My v-10 ejected a spark plug.

Spark plug blew out of head while driving.engine has 92000 miles and original spark plugs.

I was driving down interstate 75 and suddenly i lost power and had a extremely loud piping noise coming from under the hood . I stopped immediately and checked under the hood i could not tell with the engine off so i restarted it and inspected it and found that my number 2 spark plug had blown out of the cylinder head after buying a new coil pack and spark plug set i discovered that all the threads had blown out of the head with the spark plug and after changing one of the other spark plugs i found that it was barely holding in .i think that the heads design was poor and weak and is s safety hazard.

Heard a loud pop from under the hood while driving at highway speed.sounded like it was right in front of the globe box area.the engine ejected a spark plug which is a very common failure for triton engines with aluminum heads - threads failed that hold the spark plug in place.i did not hear any warning sounds that a failure was imminent.the passenger side of the engine, spark plug closest to the firewall was blown out which is also very common.i smelled gasoline and exhaust and fortunately this failure did not result in a fire.

Spark plug numbers 2 and 7 blew out of the cylinder head.number 2 blew out while driving down the highway and number 7 blew out starting off at a green light on a main street.there was a strong odor of gas when this occurred and serious vibration from the engine misfiring.this created a potential explosion hazard since the air/fuel mixture is designed to ignite from an ignition source.this jeopardized my safety as well as the safety of others around my vehicle.this is a known problem to ford and needs to be addressed for all vehicles manufactured that are affected by this problem.mileage has nothing to do with this as owners of these specific vehicles with aluminum heads have had this issue at less than 100,000 miles.

This engine with aluminum heads blew out spark plug numbers 2 and 7.first occurrence on aug 11 2015 and the next jan 14, 2016.the first incident occurred driving down a highway and the next occurred starting from a stop light.there was a lag in power and then a loud banging noise and a strong odor of gas.this created an explosion hazard as well as put my safety in jeopardy as well as that of those around me.since the air/fuel mixture is being blown out of the engine on the compression stroke and the coil firing normally this created a deadly situation.this problem is known to ford and the company is refusing to do anything about it for all vehicles with these particular engines that are having these problems.this shouldn't even happen with an engine.it's a manufacture/design fault. It needs to be addressed and fixed.the mileage is not the issue as these occurrences are happening on the newer trucks/suvs as well with way fewer miles.that shows it's a manufacture/design flaw and a very serious one.

Blows spark plugs out & breaks coil packs from sitting still at initial take off. Has happened 4 previous times

#6 spark plug blew out of the head. I had it repaired two days later. Two days after that, the #3 spark plug blew out of the head while i was driving at 25mph. During both incidents gasoline fumes and exhaust filled both the engine compartment and the passenger compartment.

Dt*:the contact stated while driving 60 mph on normal road conditions the front of the vehicle started wobbling.the vehicle was pulled over to check the engine and one of the spark plugs was puff- puffing. The vehicle was taken to the dealership who determined the spark plugs dislodged and declared that all 1999ford f250 models presented the same defect. The dealership had not received the solution from the manufacturer.the vehicle was not drivable since the incident.

I have had two (2) spark plugs blow from my engine on two (2) separate occasions (1999 ford f250 with 5.4 litre v8 with 150,000 km's).i'm not getting any cooperation from my dealer and in the research i have done on the net, it appears that this is a problem with several models and engines.both times the dealer has repaired it with a "healy coil" at a cost of approximately $560 plus towing costs.very dangerous as gas is ejected into the engine compartment.it appears that ford has issued a technical bulletin to their dealers and the solution is to replace the defective cylinder head.ok if you are under warranty.it will cost you approximately $3500 in canada to fix ford's defective part if you aren't.

Truck has been to dealer several times for vibration in drive train. They haent been able to remedy this problem at all. Also the coil on the #4 cylinder has gone out twice . The vibrations have us worried about the safety of this vehicle

Ford 250 light duty truck blew #4 plug out of head while driving approximately 35 mph. Truck odometer registered 88,000 miles and affected spark plug was the original equipment. Vehicle had to be towed tenvoorde ford, saint cloudmn to effect repair. Repairs involved an insert kit for the #4 cylinder and totaled $950.00. Vehicle was operating in traffic at the time of the incident, the blown plug created a noteworthy distraction and sudden loss of power requiring the vehicle to be maneuvered out of the traffic stream. This problem has been well documented from dealership databases to internet forums; everyone in the know is aware of this issue. It is not uncommon, but there seems to be a consensus that we're on our own. Ford needs to cowboy up with recall to fix the problem.

1999 f250 spark plug blew out of the head.the coil that was bolted to the head was helping to hold the plug in the hole, which was a manufacturing design flaw or a casting flaw.

I was driving home from work last week when my 1999 ford f-250 5.4 liter v-8 triton engine blew a spark plug out of the head above the #7 cyl. I had it towed to the local ford dealer and they said it was caused by poor design, not enough threads in the head to hold the plug in. This is happening to a lot of ford owners across the country and this is definitely a safety hazard and could cause fires in the engine compartment. They are making me pay the full cost of repair even though the mechanic said the problem is caused by poor design.

I own a 1999 ford f-250 pickup truck with a 5.4 liter triton v8.my truck has 103k miles on it.i had just replaced all the spark plugs less than a year ago.last week on my way to work, i heard a pop and the engine started making a bunch of noise, lost power and quit.luckily, i was able to pull over into a parking lot and call a tow truck.once getting it home, i noticed that a spark plug had blown out of the engine.my #3 spark plug on the passenger side blew straight out of the head and destroyed the ignition coil pack.after doing much research over the internet, i've found this to be a very common problem with these ford engines and ford won't do anything about it.this will cost well over $3000 to fix.it's a good thing my engine quit so soon, or i could have had gasoline spray out of the open cylinder and cause a serious fire.

This morning 12/19/99 i noticed a large quaintly of oil under the truck so i again checked the oil.while driving the day before the engine had lost about 2 gallons of oil in approximately 85 miles of driving.during this drive i noticed no change in oil pressure or any overheating of the engine hopefully the gauges are operating correctly.there was so much oil under the truck that it had saturated the left rear break caliper and the entire under body of the vehicle.i plan on taking the truck to the ford dealer monday morning.

Driving the vehicle, engine stalled.unable to restart as engine had seized.up to this time, the oil pressure and water temperatures were in the normal operating ranges, and oil level was within range as well.

When draining water separator diesel fuel will drip on side of engine, causing fire hazard. There is no safety device or hose to prevent dripping.the fuel also drips under neath the vehicle.

Truck broke down on freeway due to loss of oil which caused engine to overheat. Oil gauge did not indicate a problem.

Started truck.pulled onto the road and when i pressed the accelerator all it would do was idle.pressed the accelerator to the floor 4 times and still the engine would not respond.all it would do was idle

I simply pulled out of the driveway heard a loud pop the truck started missing very bad.looked under the hood to find the #4 plug had blown out.if it had hit the fuel rail very hard my mechanic said it could had ruptured and caused a fire.after looking online i found this a flaw in motor head design by ford may truck is now in the shop.this is my second time this has happened in 8 weeks.

The problem is the engine is using oil, this is a new vehicle, i am being told that this engine should use 1 quart of oil in 900 miles, i just don't believe that a new vehicle should be using this much oil. I think i'm getting the run around , it is my belief that ford is having trouble with these new engines and they don't know what to do about it, i am not the only one with one of these new ford trucks that is having this problem.

1.the parking brake does not disengage after it is engaged.2.the engine leaks oil between the engine block and the head on the passengers side just above the starter.the engine was replaced after going back the second time for the same problem.

This vehicle has a severe lack of acceration between 3500 and 4500 rpms. I tow a 30' 5th wheel trailer and when attempting to pass another vehicle or anytime i loose power because of a hilli will step on the gas pedal for passing gear. The truck will begin to increase in speed until it gets to 3500 rpms and then looses power at once. This continues until 4500 rpms and then it seems to go into another phase and acts like it should have before by a great increase in power. I have had this to the dealer 4 times about this problem and although they admit its a problem they haven't been able to fix it. Today after the 4th try i was told that they drove a new 2000 f250 with a v10 motor and it did the same thing. Because of that they told me that it was not correctable because it is a problem that is common with this motor. Hogwash! i told them that 2 problems don't make a cure but i was informed that there was nothing more to do. This is a saftey issue because i am sure that i have caused a lot of problems behind me when i have attempted to pas or increase speed on a hill and because of this losse of power have impeaded traffic and cause uncalled for congestion. My call to ford's cutomer service line wasn't any better that my conversation with preston ford's service people. A lot of double talk that meant that they didn't know what to do so they punted. I would appreciate any help with this. Thank you, robert w. Chalmers

I just have a question and this may not be where i need to be but if not could you direct me inthe correct direction? i purchased a used pick up from rainier nissan but not at their site in centrailia. They came to yakima for a 3 or 4 day sale. I purshased a 3/4 ton pick up. I didn't notice til later that there was no spare tire or spare tire rack. They were both gone along with the electrical plug in. One of the guys i dealt with sent another guy out to check that it had a spare and a jack and he didn't say anything to the contrary when he returned. What are my rights? i talked to a tire dealer and he said they are required by law to provide a spare tire and jack on a 3/4 ton or more. Any info or direction would be helpful. Fuel line routing on top of engine allowed an abrasion hole in a pressurized feed line.the routing of the fuel feed line was too close to the feed line on one of the cylinder fuel injection lines.a 3/8 high pressure line developed a hole and fed fuel to top of engine intake manifold valley.this engine has a turbo charged injection and fuel came incontact with hot componets.the dealer fixed the symptom of the leak by brazing the hole close with metal flux.the root problem of too close of fuel line routing was not addressed, therefore leading to a potential under the hood fire.i do not know if this problem is related to only this vehicle or the 7.3l series motor from from ford for the f-250 trucks. Secondly, as an aviation repair technician,i do not feel a fix of this type on a high pressure fuel line should be the proper repair action, the line should be replaced. The root cause of the abrasion thru the line should be addressed.

The vehicle was taken into the ford dealer for a safety recall pertaining to the fuel tank mounting system.they could not complete the recall work because the fuel tank was leaking from a hole in the bottom of the tank.the dealer stated that the tank had a puncture that was caused by some object that bounced off the road. The tank is made of plastic and has no shield to protect it from road debris.had this been a gasoline tank instead of diesel fuel it could very well have exploded when the object struck the tank.the vehicle should be recalled and at the very least a shield should be mounted on the frame to protect the tank from being hit by foreign objects.

While i was exiting my truck, with motor off and transmission in park, the pin that holds it in park failed and allowed the truck to roll backwards. This scoped me up in the door and dragged me over the hillside next to the road. This truck has many problems. Strarting with the transmission going out,the front right side of the truck there is a distinctive "clunk" when put into gear; either forward or reverse.then going interior; the "door ajar" light comes on it thinks that the doors are not shut, but you can slam all 4 doors shut and it still thinks the doors are "ajar"so that will keep the interior light on while driving. The interior light will go out if you get up to about 20 mph, then when you slow down to under 20mph it will come back on.the "warning bell" comes on and stays on even when the truck is shut off. Next the seat belts will some times work and some times not. Either the are hard to pull out or they will not retract. The tailgate cover has warped in not even 1 year after we had it.

While trying to change gears transmission will not disengage into another gear. Please provide further information.

When i contacted the ford dealer to schedule repair he said not to drive the vehicle very far because complete failure would probably occur. I was also told that ford is very aware of this defect and has redesigned this part due to many failures. When i put my truck into gear and initially start out there was knocking and clunking coming from under the right (passenger side) floor boards. Clunking seemed similar to bad u-joints when torque is put on them. Clunking could be felt on floor. I had in to dealer numerous times before they were able to feel and hear clunking. The knocking and clunking is more prevelant in warm weather. Now i am told by dealer ( place motor, 19 thompson road-route 193,webster, ma,01570, ph.#5089438010) that this is "under investigation" by ford motor co. I asked what my options were because i don't like driving a new vehicle around with the clunking and nothing being done.at this point there was nothing they could do and that these problems happen and it takes time to find them. I wasn't happy with the wait until it falls off attitude i got, not necessarily from the dealer but from ford. This is the second new vehicle we have purchased from ford that has had the "under investigation" label put on it. I had a 1997 ford expedition that, on cold start ups, had a two to three minute engine rapping noise that was also "under investigation". It sounded as if no oil was getting in the engine for the longest time. Vehicle had rear brake fire due to rear brakes dragging.

On februaary 3, 2001 my wife was pulling into the customer pickup area of sears in amarillo, texasas she pulled up to the pickup area and removed her foot from the accelerator to apply the brakes, the accelerator stuck and our pickup truck rammed the backend of another pickup truck in from her.she shifted to revers, the engine still running at a rapid speed, to back away from the vehicle that she had rammed.since the engine ws running at a high speed, our vehicle raced backward.in order to keep from backing tnto someone behindher, she then shifted into forward gear and rammed the pickup in front of her again. All of this time the rear tires were spinning and smoking.after she rammed the pickup the second time, she turned the ignition off to stop the crazy situation.had she known, of course, that the throttle was going to stay engaged at high speed, she would have killedthe engine earlier. The combination of anti-lock brakes and an uncontrollable throttle is a recipe for disastor.

Consumer stateswhen applying brakes,if vehicle hits a bump abswill stop holding causing driver to run into the back of another vehicle.

Reference voq #854737 where my supplied information was incorrectly recorded. While driving and when braking, the vehicle pulls left (into oncoming traffic) the severity of the pull to the left is directly related to the measure of the braking and vehicle speed (e.g. Low speed with light braking = moderate pull to the left and higher speeds with firm braking = extreme pull to the left). The ford dealer has turned all the rotors, replaced a brake line, replaced the pads, realigned the vehicle at least three times, replaced the camber bushings twice, once with ford factory parts and the last time with after market parts (non-ford adjustable camber bushings).reference electronic dealer service report, edsr#17584 generated05/11/99 by the master technician at joe cooper ford.

On 7/12/2000 i took the truck to the dealer because of severe vibration when braking from highway speed.at that time the dealer turned the rotors because they were warped.now 6 months later the problem has re-occurred.given the information i have found on the internet regarding simular problems from other owners, it can only be concluded that this is a design defect.however, at this time, both the manufacturer and dealer refuse to adequately address the problem.

The front end of the vehicle begins to shudder when braking at freeway speeds (60-65mph and sometimes less). In january of '99 the front rotors had to be turned to correct the problem temporarily. The problem returned again and the rotors had to be turned a second time in october of '99. The truck only has about 17k miles. The shuddering has the potential of causing an accident or pemature failure of not only the brake parts but also the front end components.

All the brake rotors had worn excessively and caused a vibration at only 5000 miles of operation.the manufacturer would not resolve the problem.mr scc

The brake rotors wore out which caused a heavy vibration and extended stopping distance.

We've been previous new ford trk owners - and have never entailed such a problem like this. We feel that there is more than adquate reason that ford should give priority attention to this matter. At general highway speeds, then when beginning to apply brakes, all occupants caneasily feel very hard erratictrembling begin on the front end. When having our dealer check into this, he assured us that the front end was okay, but that excessive heat is causing the front brake rotors to distort, and thereby needs lathing/cutting - to correct, and rid the problem of the trembling when applying brakes. This is the third time that we have had to resort to having the rotors lathed. Our two prior ford f-250hd trucks that we've owned, never displayed theseproblems in any form.

Had rotors turned at 32000 miles. In november2 00o, when applying brakes, vehicle vibrated allway to steering wheel.on feb 19, 2001 took vehicle to dealer, who said he could notfind a remedy.rotorswere warped.

Rotors warped & had to be turned prior to 1 year. *et

The rotors warp at 12000 to 14000 mile increments. The dealer will only turn the rotors and not replace them till the minimum tolerance is reached. I understand that there are new heavier rotors, but ford refuses to replace rotors inpick-ups sold prior to mar 99., this is a engineered safety defect and i want some type of permanent fix.thank you.

Brakes vibrate at various speeds and braking pressures. Problem started at 12,000 miles. Acts like a rotor problem.

Approximately every 6,000 miles, my brakes start vibrating when coming to a stop.i believe the disc is warping but to date, nothing concrete has been done to fix the problem.so far, the rotors have been turned twice and the disk replaced twice. The problem is reoccuring and i will be taking the car in again.this is a safety hazard as the car doesn't stop properly and the vibrating steering wheel may cause a loss of control.i see several other complaints of the same nature and most seem to be from alaska.is the cold weather somehow responsible?it takes time, effort, and a lot of emotional grief to argue with the dealership each time i take the car in and tell them that the brakes haven't been right since driving the car of the lot.when is ford going to permanently fix the problem?changing the disk is apparently not a permanent fix.there is a major problem with the system itself.what do we have to do to get satisfaction, start a class action law suit?have an accident caused by faulty breaks with injury or death and publicise a large settlement law suit?all i want is breaks i can trust.as it is, i get into the vehicle and wait for the vibrtation to start!

Hydraulic brake line was not secure to frame, causing it to rupture, resulting in loss of brakes.

Rear tailgate cover is warped.

Severe vibration at any speed seemingly from front drive train (bearings, axels, hubs)? the only way i can drive the truck is to engage the front left axel.otis ford has been trying to find the problem for two and a half months replacing parts that didn't solve the problem. I am waiting now for three weeks for parts they have ordered to try to fix this problem.

I have taken my truck in to the dealer three times to get them to fix the problem.they thought they had it fixed the first time. The other times i was told that ford was aware of the problem, but didn't know how to fix it yet!a popping noise comes from the rear of my 4x4 crewcab every time that i go over a bump at slow speeds.

The right and left ball joints began freezing last summer. The vehicle began to wander and it became increasingly difficult to keep it in my lane of traffic. The problem came on slowly but was first noted by me last summer. This summer it got to the point that it was unsafe to drive because attempting to get the wheels to move slightly resulted in too much movement leading to constant attempts to correct the over-correction. The dealer readily diagnosed the problem as frozen ball joints and required that i pay for the repairs despite the fact that the problem began well before the warranty expired. A dealership employee informed me that they were replacing many of these parts under warranty due to premature failure. The original part did not have any provision to lubricate the joint. The replacement part has a fitting to lubricate it. Obviously ford made a design change in this part and are not telling owners about the problem. At nearly $1000.00 to repair it, some owners may choose to delay or forgo replacement and continue to drive the truck when it is unsafe to do so. As a rule, ball joints should be expected to go double the mileage at which mine required replacement. My calls to ford resulted in no admission of fault on their part. The steering on the truck was so bad that neither my wife or i felt that it was safe to drive at highway speeds.

Ball joint is worn out, and at 20mph front and rear brake pads fell onto the ground.cause unknown. Dealer notified.

An employee told me my tires were wearing around 5000 mile on the truck but i ignored his comments. Around 20k miles i developed a vibration and thought it to be an alignment problem. It progressively got worse and i had tires ck'ed at 38900 and was told at toms tires the tires were junk. I contacted my ford dealer and was told the warranty didn't cover tires but to go to firestone to possibly get an adjustment. The firestone rep ck'ed tires and also said they were bad. Their price for the same tire was $380 and $200 less than toms tires price for a similiar tire. I found this to be odd. This may be important on finding out why these tires are blowing. One of my tires blew out. But on the other two the valve stems were leaking air after driving a short distance (each at different time). When we stopped the truck we noticed the tire leaking air and had a flat in a matter of minutes (no we didn't hit or run over anything in the road). This leaking valve stems have made me believe that is why bridgestone keeps saying the tires are under inflated. I believe the stems start leaking as you are driving which in turn causes the blow out. We were lucky with the last two tires that went flat, as we were on surface streets and not on the freeway.( dot number: exbm14480- tire size: lt23575r16 )

I would not have considered contact had not the other firestone tires shown a problem. My vehicle came with the firestone steeltex r4s tires. I changed them after about 18000 miles because they were so scary on wet pavement or snow. Since then i have been told firestone used too hard a compound in order to get extra mileage. I have spoken with my ford agency and noticed the model type for that tire is no longer the r4s. No damage or injury resulted although several amusement park rides resulted, each occuring with different drivers.

This vehicle has experienced two (2) sudden and unexpected tire blowouts at high speed. The tires have been well maintained and had proper inflation at the time of failure. The most recent failure occurred with the right front tire at 70 mph just as i was approaching a bridge which nearly caused me to impact bridge abuttment/railing. Blown tire was inspected by firestone dealer and dealer suspects tread seperation. I have kept tire for future inspections. Over the last 15 years i have driven approx. 40,000 miles per year on 16 inch non-firestone light truck tires and i have never experienced a blow-out of a tire as i have with these tires. (dot number: vnw81xl248tiresize: lt26575r16)

We first noticed that the right rear tire had a crater like crack betweenone tread. The crack was about 3" long. We then inspected the rest of the tire. We found smaller cracks all around the tire and inbetween other treads. We inspected the other tires and found that all the tires had small cracks inbetween the treads, they were not as big as the left rear, but they were all around the tires. The cracks in the other 3 tires randged from about 1/8" to 1/2" in length. We contacted our ford dealer and they said they could not do anything because this was not on the recall list. We then contacted a firestone dealer in our area and brought the truck in for inspection. They said the tires showed that there was a problem. They replaced all four tires with the same tires. We exspessed our concerns about replacing the tires with the same ones. They said that they have not had any reports of problems with this tire type. We would like to be notified if there will be a recall on this tire. I do not feel that we are driving on a safe tires with all these problems being reported with firestone. We have already had problems with this perticular tire brand and now have replaced them with the exact same brand. If i had an extra $700 to $800 to spend i would not have replaced them with this brand. The firestone dealer said that there has never been a problem with this tire type and brand and that there will never be. Being replace for free seemed to be an okay deal at the time, but now i am questioning that decision. If you can help at all, i would greatly appreciate it. Thank you for your time. I have a99 f250 with firestone 16in steeltex a/t tires. I recently had a routine service visit to my ford dealer and told them my two right tires look like the tread was separating from the side wall. After they inspected the tires they agreed there was a problem and to take it to a firestone dealer in which i did. Upon my visit to firestone they said they would only give me 45% reimbustment on those two tires because of tread wear. This is unsatisfactory to me because of these factors, which i expressed to them: ther is only 34,000 on both the vehical and tires and the problem is not tread wear but the quality of the tire; the vehical is a 4x4 and not having the same tires and tread wear can cause damage to the four wheel drivetrain, that is why both ford and firestone reccomments to rotate the tires on a periodicaltime frameand when it is time to put new tires on that they are the same type of tires;this vehical is on athree year lease and i expect the tires to last as long as the lease does; the unsafe quality on the 15in tires are also on the 16in tires, but it seems everyone that is envolved in this firestone problem has had there heads in the sand about the 16in tires. I am currently driving on these tires and hope and pray i have no accident. If you can assist me in anyway please contact me as soon as posslble. I have contacted firestone but they will not respond.
