Service bulletin 95-5-24 was sent to me 9 to 12 months ago on a cooling system additive to add to my system to prevent corrosion of the block and eating through the cylinder walls. I added the required amount of this additive, and have not given it much thought until my engine seized up. When the engine was torn down it was found to be caused by pin holes through the cylinder walls which let coolant wash down the cylinder walls and caused the engine to seize and bend a rod. Currently the engine is apart until i can figure out what to do. Ford told me that eventhough they designed a faulty system, that they do not have to do anything, and that is why i am sending this to you. Also the bulletin came out in 95 and i never received a copy until late 97. I wish i still had a copy of the bulletin. Hope you can help!

This is the third time that this unit has been replaced on this engine. Ford has not come up with a suitable engineering design to correct the problem associated with this failure. I expect that this will again fail sometime in the future, i hope not with disasterous results. The dampener, shock absorber failed causing premature wear, and subsequent failure of the tensioner. The recall which was done on this vehicle was not as effective as you were led to believe. The defroster also fails to go into the defrost mode once the vehicle is extremely cold, and the blower motor is making a grinding, squeeling noise. I expect that these will stop completly in the near future.
