This is the second time that this unit has failed on this truck.it was replaced by ford under a recall the first time.now it has failed again with the same results.both times it was caused by the belt tensioner wearing prematurely, causing the belt to ride forward off the pulleys and shredding itself.this is a safety issue because when this happens, power steering and power brakes become inoperable.

The belts break in the pully, causing loss of power steering/brakes.

I have had continual serpentine drive belt failures since purchasing it new.ford has made several attemps to correct but has been unsuccessful.in 92,000 miles i have had eight belt failures.each time all power assist on breaks and steering is lost and becomes nearly impossible to steer or stop.on my last visit to the dealer they estimated $800.00 to correct the problem but would not guarantee it would be a permanent fix.in 1995 or 96 i received a letter from ford motor company advising me to bring it in for a service bulletin related to the serpentine drive belt problem.at the time my company had me working on the east coast, by the time i returned home it was about ten days past the experiation date for the service bulletin.the local dealer refused to honor the service bulletin as did ford motor company.ford has acknowledged that there is a problem but refuses to fix it.my family has been very lucky in avoiding an accident to date because of loss of steering and brake control each time the drive belt breaks.any assistance you can provide will be greatly appreciated as ford appears to be uninterested in correcting this known safety contition.

Owner received recall notice, contacted dealer and was told he had to pay $200 dollars to replace fuel line before they can do the recall repair work.

With my 3 granddaughters in the cab of my ford f250 i stopped at the bicycle shop to drop off 2 bicycles that needed repair, this took less than 5 minutes. When i returned to my truck there was no less than 1/2 galon of fuel on the pavement and fuel was still leaking out of the rear tank filler neck. I quickly took my granddaughters out of the truck to safety and had my truck towed to my mechanic. He called the ford dealer in alhambra ca. And was told of the defective valve, but there was no recall and that it would cost no less than $ 400.00 to correct.i took my truck to that same dealer the following week to have new shocks installed and was told the same thing by the shop manager. This prevents me from filling both tanks or leakage will occur.another incident occurred when a driver of another vehicle pulled me over to report that his car had fuel all over his new car and took down my information, but went to a nearby car wash, but that i would be responsible if any damage to the finish occurred. This valve problem put my family in potential grave danger and i feel that ford is responsible to correct the problem at their expense. According to the "auto recall car report" ford has extended the warranty for 12 year or 150,000 miles. Is the dot able to help my situation and order ford to correct the fuel crossover and fuel spillage problem?

On november 13, 1998 i took my 1992 ford f250 4x4 pickup to the tom denchel ford dealership in processor, washington to get the 60,000 mile service. A short time after i left the truck there i got a phone call from the service manager, douglas butler.he said that i had a problem with the rear brakes.one side leaked oil onto the brake lining.he recommended that an updated bearing and seal should be installed, the drum turned and new brakes put in.of course he recommended having both sides done, which i approved.the total cost including both parts and labor was approximately $580.i had just taken my camper off the truck and noticed that when i braked one of the rear wheels would lock up.i didn't think much about this until the service.when i picked the vehicle up i asked mr. Butler if this was a known problem to ford and he said yes.a service bulletin had been issued.he said that he had to make the bearing and seal repair on a regular basis.i don't have the service bulletin number but the number of the service kit is f4tz-1177-c.on page 1 of the service kit an important notice states:the purpose of this kit is to upgrade the ford design 10.25-inch ring gear axle full float hub to the latest design.this kit is not required if, after disassembly, you discover the hub contains an oil slinger as shown in figure 1.if the hub does not contain an oil slinger, continue with procedure.since the original design was flawed and could have caused a braking failure i recommend that ford voluntarily recall all trucks with this problem and fix at their cost.they should also reimburse me for my costs.
