Power tailgates opening suddenly while driving without any input.it has occurred three times.it poses a possible safety issue of cargo flying out of the truck bed.if rv or trailer is attached, control-ability of trailer may be impeded.

I am having the same issue as in case # pe18-011. My tailgate will open randomly on its own.the tailgate release will actuate over and over when the button is pushed once. Took it to a ford dealer and they confirmed that it is the same issue as tsb 17-2196. Water gets into a wiring harness.this should be a safety recall as the tailgate opening while towing could cause a limit to steering ability as the tailgate can make contact with the front of the trailer. It can also cause damage to the tailgate itself if it lands on something.

Power tailgate is coming open while driving. Tailgate was damaged due to it coming open while towing a trailer. Tailgate has opened on two occasions and requiring replacement both times. Both times the tailgate has come open it has been while there was a trailer connected. Once while driving down the highway and the other while pulling out of a parking lot. First occurrence was 05/22/2018 and the second occurrence was 10/08/2018.

While driving on interstate 20, eastbound, my low fuel pressure indicator light came on.i started losing power and we pulled off at the exit that was there.as soon as we stopped, the engine bay was on fire.it gave no indication of odd smells or problems.it seemed to burn the engine compartment completely, all the electrical systems, interior, possibly firewall, etc.it seems this is possibly a known problem.

Tailgate has opened on its own multiple times while driving. The tailgate is now damaged, it was caught against my trailer while driving.

When the temperature is below freezing my doors will not unlock or open. After several attempts they do finally unlock and i am able to open them. After they are open i am unable to close them because the latch is half locked. I have to use a screwdriver to complete the latch locking cycle then i have to manually lock and unlock it several times until the door works properly.

The contact owns a 2017 ford f -250 super duty. The contact stated that the cup holder assembly in the console was not sealed; therefore, liquid leaked into the console compartment and the console lights failed. Additionally, smoke emerged from the console and the cabin filled up with smoke. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer (mclarty daniel ford, 2609 south walton boulevard, bentonville, ar 72712, (479) 250-0401) who stated that the wires needed to be replaced due to water damage. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was declined under the warranty. The manufacturer was contacted and stated that the repairs would be at the owner's expense due to user error. The failure mileage was 56,144.

As i was entering freeway i drove over an expansion gap at 50-55 mph while changing lanes at which time my trucks front end started whobbling and violently shaking. I was unable to control front end and truck all together. I started to brake and my truck went into another lane where i almost hit another vehicle. I have 41,000 miles, original rims, tires and suspension.

Vehicle was in motion at 65mph on a slight curve on the freeway, hit a bump in road and all hell broke loose.violent shaking of front end resulting in violent shaking of steering wheel and entire truck. Known as 'death wobble.' slowed down and slowly pulled off road. Once slowed down to 25mph the vehicle returns to normal operation. Very dangerous situation.

Check engine light came on.needs a new def pump on 200 miles.ford does not have the part.new truck has been in shop for 2 weeks.

My wife and daughter were traveling south on interstate 55 north of sikeston, missouri.my wife was driving the truck. And was at the time of the incident passing a semi-truck.she noticed the truck lost power in the engine and a light came on on the dash.a message appeared on the dash relating to the power loss.she was able to get the truck to the shoulder safely.as soon as she stopped the truck, she noticed smoke coming from under the hood and told our daughter to get out of the truck.as soon as they got to the tailgate flames started shooting out of the truck.shesaw that the fire started on the lower right hand side of the engine with flames dropping down about one foot from the front passenger tire.this is the location of the oil filter on the truck.the truck was soon engulfed in flames.this incident happened at approximately 3:30 in the afternoon.she had the oil changed at the ford dealership in cape girardeau, missouri (ford groves) earlier that day.luckily there were no injuries and only property damage resulting from the fire.if there had been a child in a child restraint, it could have been tragic.the truck was towed by d & k towing and stored at their facility in sikeston.the scott county fire department responded to the fire.the truck and thousands of dollars in personal property were destroyed in the incident.

Truck at times has long cranking issue before starting.

The contact owns a 2017 ford f-250 sd. The contact stated that the check engine indicator illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to jeff drennen ford (801 s. 2nd st, coshocton, ohio) where it was diagnosed that the nox sensor was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 55,900. Consumer stated manufacturer was notified of problem told the consumer it was his problem.

Experienced a "death wobble"2 times.notified ford and thry said 'oh yeah you experienced a death wobble.asked if that is under warranty and they stated only if our truck is under 36,000 miles.ours has 50,000.the truck is at ford to be fixed with an estimated cost of $1800.00.we bought out truck may of 2017.....ford would've known by then that there was this problem, yet sold to us....knowingly that "a death wobble is a very dangerous vibration...." "this is a massive safety issue"why is it alright to knowingly sell us something that is dangerous??why are we having to incur this cost?why is there no real recall for this?please help.ford should be responsible for this cost.

Under an emergency stop, traveling straight, moving at or near 60 mph, on highway, three passengers and towing a small camping trailer (about #4000), the front suspension went into a vicious shake. Rapid and sustained. This shook the entire truck. Thisfrequency of the shake did not correspond to the speed of the truck and continued even after the truck had slowed and the brakes were released.

Truck is almost 2 years old. 25,000 miles on the vehicle. Experienced death wobble when braking ever so slightly above 45 miles an hour. Experienced death wobble on the highway doing approximately 65 miles an hour, had to slow down and change lanes while holding the steering wheel with both hands and slow down to approximately 25 miles an hour in order to get the wobble to stop.first time experiencing the death wobble, took the vehicle into my local dealership paul clark ford in your florida and was told that the rotor had a hotspot on it. Was told the only solution would be to resurface the rotors. After reading numerous complaints about the same exact issue with the same exact year and model vehicle, i believe that this is more of the recall issue then a sporadic issue. This is going to cause an accident and may cause someone in their life

In order to drive straight, the steering wheel had to be turned 90 degrees right.during this event, the brake warning light illuminated, the traction control warning light light illuminated, the abs warning light illuminated, and the service engine light illuminated all at the same time.in addition, the display screen gave 'collision avoidance system unavailable' error message. I immediately and slowly drove to a ford dealership.when i parked it at the dealership, the condition i described above still existed.ford advised that the issue corrected itself and the technicians only found code u3000.they could not duplicate the issue.ford closed the issue as 'unable to duplicate' despite it being a huge public safety risk if this condition repeats while at highway speed carrying a load.this could result in a death or serious bodily injury.

Steering wheel shakes violently sometimes when traveling at highway speeds and driving over potholes or expansion joints in the highway.has occurred on 3 separate occasions. This is a safety concern and the vehicle is not safe.i've taken it in for repair twice with no fix.it's in the dealership for repairs a third time right now.

Death wobble, while driving approximately 45 mph, i ran over some train tracks and the steering wheel started shaking violently. I had to slow down to almost a stop to get it to quit. Scared my wife half to death. Very dangerous.

When traveling at highway speeds (60+ mph) and you hit certain types of bumps the the road the steering wheel shakes violently after the bump. This has happened four times in the last month.it appears to only happen over a road imperfection where the two front wheels hit it independently ie a skewed angle bridge joint or a single pot hole.at the dealers instruction i have rotated and balanced tires, checked tire inflation. The truck has 20,000 miles on it now and this first happened at 17,000 miles. My research tells me that this problem is commonly called "death wobble" which it appears ford has issued a technical service bulletin for.i am going to try another dealer and give them the info i have.

We own a 2017 ford f-250 diesel crew cab 4x4, unmodified, with 15,094 miles. On a trip to fresno ca from yuma az, and back again february 22nd and 23rd 2019, i experience a quickly escalating severe steering oscillation nine separate times that required me to dangerously slow down from the posted speed limit, and most times, to drive off the highway to the shoulder. My tire pressures were as recommended and verified by the ford dealership, as were their recent balance, toe, camber, and alignment.i first encountered this life threatening defect when the f-250 vin# [xxx] had just under 9,000 miles on it. I was advised by theford dealership service personnel to check my tire pressure, and balance. They also suggested i have them adjust my ?toe? in slightly more than normally recommended. This they said would cause my tires to wear slightly faster, but would combat the ?wobble? that sometimes plagues their units. I found that once the truck had at least one side off the firm contact of the paved, or cement roadway, and on the loose gravel, or dirt, that quickly eliminated the oscillation. The problem is the side of the road is not always accessible when this attack happens because of other vehicles, or there just is no road shoulder at all. Once the vibration starts which is always initiated by encountering a jolting blemish followed immediately by a few other imperfections. Like a road joint, cracks, repair patch followed immediately by other imperfections like repetitive cracks or pot holes. It causes the two front tires to counter act each other in an escalating severe oscillation. This happens, and will reach its crescendos within a quick couple of seconds. Akin to a surprise sucker punch this makes the whole truck violently shake, and the steering wheel becomes an out of control back and forth shuddering combatant.thank you,[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Uncontrolled "death wobble" when driving over 45 mph. This occurs when the front of the vehicle begins to oscillate violently, which causes the truck to shake (wobble) in an extremely uncontrollable manner. Since the death wobble usually occurs at high speeds, it is extremely dangerous and could potentially cause the vehicle to turn into adjacent vehicles causing fatalities. The only way to recover from a death wobble is to unexpectedly slow down, which is also dangerous to neighboring vehicles especially when traveling at high speeds. In my particular case, this occurred while traveling at 70mph on an interstate, at night, and during inclement weather. I was driving straight and after driving onto a road-bridge transition, the vehicle began to suddenly violently shake, and the steering wheel rocked back and forth. I was forced to slow down and all the vehicles around me had to turn into the median to avoid hitting my vehicle. I checked my vehicle for damaged tires or debris underneath and found no such debris or damage. The next day i drove to the dealership and the service department knew of tsb 18-2268. I should have been notified of this problem because it almost killed me and my children.

Driving at 65-70 mph on a concrete paved highway. Hit a rough patch of pavement or expansion joint, and the front end began shaking violently, as if one or both of the front tires had flatted. I could see the hood shaking. The steering wheel also oscillated significantly. I almost lost control of the vehice. I let off the accelerator and lightly braked to about 45mph before the shaking and oscillation stopped. Ford does have a tsb out on the issue tsb 18-2268, but they are only replacing parts that have worn out, not the hidden issue that is causing heavy duty suspension parts to wear out so quickly.

Death wobble, total loss of control traveling over 50 miles an hour on highway. Wheel violently whippingback and forth fast and violently. Loss of control of vehicle almost causing major accident on highway.

When driving speeds of 55-60 randomly hitting a bump or bridge transition ,front end and steering wheel will occasionally start shaking violently until you pull over to almost a complete stop , returned to dealership 3 time for same problem , resulting in same issue each time, always on the highway , always in a straight line

The contact owns a 2017 ford f-250 sd. The contact stated that the vehicle experienced a "death wobble" while driving highway speeds. When the vehicle was driven over 70 mph, it was extremely difficult for the contact to operate the vehicle. The dealer (galpin ford, 15505 roscoe blvd, north hills, ca 91343, 1-(818) 787-3800) kept the vehicle for months, but could not diagnose or repair the vehicle. The dealer did not provide a loaner vehicle option during that time. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was waiting on their response. The vin and failure mileage were not available.

This vehicle is experiencing "death wabble" at about 40 mph when hitting a bump in the road. Death wabble is uncontrollable shaking of the front axle that won't stop unless you reduce your speed or stop the vehicle. The vehicle has not been altered from original factory specs.

Death wobble!in october of 2018 with just 14,000 miles my truck it went into a horrible steering oscillation after hitting a highway irregularity at 65 mph. It nearly ripped the steering wheel out of my hands. I took it to the local toledo ford dealer and he confirmed that i had the dreaded "death wobble".they replaced some front end parts, adjusted the alignment, and rebalanced the tires per ford motor company. 10 miles down the road it happened again and just as violently. Back for more parts and service. This time i was told that a new steering stabilizer was installed. Everything was peachy until may 22, 2019 with 20,7000 miles on the truck when it happened again. This problem occurs while driving in a straight line or in a curve at legal freeway speeds. Road irregularities seem to start the wobble.it will be going back to the dealer for a third time tomorrow june 4, 2019.. The dealer has tried very hard to correct this deadly issue but i'm guessing that it is a design flawi'm afraid to drive this truck!!! help!!! i know that i'm not alone. How many owners have to be injured or die before ford is coerced to step up to the plate and fix this problem?

Front end shakes uncontrollably when driving over bumps/pits in the paved roadway at 40+ mph.this does not always occur.when it does, i must immediately brake to slow the truck to 20mph or less to regain control.today was the worst occurrence - completely lost control and swerved over both adjacent lanes before recovering.was traveling at 65 mph.no traffic near, so no accident occurred.when driving over a bridge expansion joint, truck steering wheel cannot be held firm due to reaction to the expansion joint and the steering.all these have occurred on both paved county roads, state highways, and interstates and driving straight ahead.

Traveling ca. 65 mph on i-435 in kansas city, diverted lanes forced me to drive over shoulder rumble bars for about 50 yards.while driving on the rumble bars, the vehicle steering wheel began to oscillate, jerking left and right violently.i reduced speed and exited the lane but the steering kept shaking until i reduced speed to around 30 mph.i stopped, visually inspected the tires and the front suspension but found no visible damage.the dic indicated the tire psi for all tires was normal.i returned to the highway and resumed speeds of 65-70 mph. The vehicle has not repeated this issue since.

The contact owns a 2017 ford f-250 sd. The contact stated that there was a death wobble on the front end of the vehicle. The failure impacted the steering and caused a strong vibration in the steering wheel. The dealer (schmidt ford of salem, 1815 w main st, salem, il 62881, (800) 562-2014) stated that the steering stabilizer was on a national backorder and that they would adjust the casters and rotate the tires. The manufacturer issued two tsbs for the steering. The manufacturer was notified and confirmed that the part was on a national backorder. The manufacturer was to respond to the contact to address the repair solution. The approximate failure mileage was 16,000.

I have had this truck develop an intermittent almost uncontrollable highway speed front end 'wobble', it has been significant enough that i was afraid that i was not going to be able to successfully control the truck while i slowed down (it has happened twice) i have taken the truck to two ford dealerships (borman ford in las cruces new mexico, and to the dealership that i purchased the truck from...lawley team ford in silver city new mexico). Both dealership service departments indicated they could find nothing wrong with my truck.they also indicated that there were no ford service bulletins regarding this type of highway speed steering/front suspension wobbble.the dealership i purchased the truck at suggested that i install a heavier duty steering aftermarket stabilizer and track bar...my response was that my truck was 2 years old, with 20,000 miles on it, and that if there was a problem that ford should provide the parts and necessary repair.searching the internet, many owners of 2017 and newer ford superduty f-250's are experiencing this problem, yet ford appears to not be acknowledging the issue.at this point i am afraid to drive the truck at highway speeds, and would appreciate help in forcing ford to address this significant safety issue.please know that my truck has original wheels and tires, and no portion of the front suspension or steering assembly has been modified in any way.thank you.

On numerous occasions, running across any road irregularities such as potholes, bridge or road expansion joints at 50 mph or above causes shaking in the front end so bad that the truck needs to be almost competely stopped to regain control. We have almost been in rear end accidents due to the loss of control and slowing in traffic. First attempt at a repair was at 2400 miles when the shaking was so bad, it caused the adaptive steering to fail. The adaptive steering/steering wheel assembly and steering column needed to be replaced due to damage. Truck has spent over 75 days total in the shop in 25000 miles is still not repaired and dealer has no estimate of a repair time. Our friends refuse to ride in the truck and my wife is so afraid to drive it, she avoids any roads where she will exceed 50 mph.we have repeatedly asked to have the truck repurchased, yet ford has refused, so we have retained legal representation to pursue a lemon law suit.

While driving at posted highway speed and after hitting a bump the front end and steering wheel has started to bounce and wobble violently. The only way to get it to stop is to slow down to 25-30 miles per hour. This puts you in a very dangerous situation. It doesn't happen a lot but has happened to me 5 times in the past 6-8 weeks. After researching this on the internet it seems to be a common problem in this model truck. It is commonly referred to as death wobble. Apperently there is a service bulletin on it but i'm not sure. It may be the tsb18-2268. I plan on contacting my ford dealer in the morning about this issue. Thank you.

Violent steering shimmy has occurred on several occasions after hitting small imperfection in highway while driving at highway speeds.

Truck is almost 2 years old. 25,000 miles on the vehicle. On 5/13, i experienced a wobble when braking ever so slightly above 45 miles an hour. Experienced death wobble on the highway doing approximately 65 miles an hour, had to slow down and change lanes while holding the steering wheel with both hands and slow down to approximately 25 miles an hour in order to get the wobble to stop. Took the vehicle into my local dealership paul clark ford in yulee florida and was told that the rotor had a hotspot on it. Was told the only solution would be to resurface the rotors. I had to come back for a loaner vehicle on 5/14. Yesterday 5/14, i was driving approx 55 mph on a paved highway when i went over an overpass. After doing so, the wobbel started again. Luckily i was alone on the road because the truck was shaking violently, i was alone on the road as the shaking caused the truck to change lanes. Gain, i held the steering whel with both hands trying to somewhat control the vehicle i slowed down. When the vehicle speed was aprox 30 mph, the shaking stopped. I proceeded slowly to my dealer to trun the truck in for the nspection and fix. The service advisors and master technician stated that i was definately the death wobble and they would attempt to fix it but it was going to be difficult because ford has not acknowledged the problem even though there is a technical buletin (tsb-18-2268) regarding the issue.i believe that this is more of the recall issue then a sporadic issue. This is going to cause an accident and may cause someone in their life.

Violent steering oscillation aka "death wobble. Truck has 18k miles and is unsafe to drive normally. After hitting a small bump in the road at speeds above 35 mph the truck will shake side to side and up and down until the truck is slowed down under 20 or in some cases the truck must come to a full stop. Consider going 65mph in the middle lane on the highway and having to slow down to 20mph and pull over with cars around while the truck is on the brink of being out of control. I have had to do it. This is a major problem for both safety and quality control standards.

I was traveling down the freeway at approximately 65mph when i hit an expansion joint in the road. The steering wheel began shaking violently till the vehicle slowed to about 30mph. Truck only has 20,000 miles on it.

I began noticing slight forms of wobble when going over bumps/potholes at 24k miles of my 2017 4wd swb cc f250 platinum. This past weekend i got the extreme version of death wobble (extreme steering wheel oscillation) where i thought i had blown a couple tires at about 50 mph after hitting a pothole on the road. I have never had a super duty do this in my past models going back to the mid 90's. Honestly, it hurt my back and shoulder trying to control it and required a death grip on the steering wheel to keep from changing lanes. Only thing that caused it to subside was slowing down to about 10-15 mph and then it smoothed out like normal. This happened on a freeway and thank goodness no vehicles were beside me. I will not let my wife or family members drive this truck given this issue. This is a safety issue with this vehicle. I am scheduling to take to dealer and leave until it is guaranteed fixed.

While traveling the interstate at approximately 70 mph this vehicle experienced extreme shaking and vibrations in the steering wheel and front suspension. The vehicle had to be slowed to 40 mph before the shaking subsided. This was a very dangerous situation because of the heavy traffic at the time of the incident. This vehicle has experienced the problem a few times after the initial incident.

I have a ford f-250 4x4 crew cab with 12,495. Miles on it. We entered hwy 53 north bound in wi and accelerated up to speed 65 mph . Then went over a crack in the road and the front of the truck started to shake out of control. When i was able to get the trucked stopped on the side of the road.what people in the car behind me said that it looked like the right front tire was going to come off the truck.took the truck to dealer and they replaced the damper per tsb 18-2268. Pt # hc3z-3e651-f damper assy.big qustion is why didn't they replace the track bar,and tie rod ends at the same time. With that much shaking going on i am sure it shortened the life of those parts.

I experienced what is considered the "death wobble" twice last week while traveling at around 70 mph, both times it happened after crossing a bridge seam the truck became uncontrollable shaking violently , i thought my axle under the truck had broke , it was so violent i wasn't even thinking about the other drivers traveling at same speed as i had to slow to almost 20 mph to get it to stop but i was able to get off to the side of the road once i could control the steering.so after checking to make sure all was good ,i was still on all fours and not ever hearing of anything like this"death wobble thing " assuming vdot needed to fix some pavement i continued andabout three miles down the road the same thing happened after crossing a bridge over a bridge seam but this time i was in the passing lane and was right beside an eighteen wheeler .with vehicles on all three sides of me , no way to get off highway , and a violent, shaking and uncontrollable steer wheel, i had no other choice but to brake and slow to 30 mph . The next day i took the truck to ford dealership where they are deciding what is wrong with and what caused this to happen. I have researched and found this is not an isolated issue and seems a huge problem with the 2017.

Death wobble occurred today with me and my wife and kids going down the highway at 60 mph after crossing a bridge. Scared my wife till the point she was crying. Ford really needs to recall this before someone gets killed. Luckily there was no cars around me or there would have been a bad wreck.

While driving approximately 65 mph hit a bump in the road and severe steering wheel oscillation began. Had to slow down to 45-50 mph to regain control of steering. This problem repeated each time i would encounter a bump or dip in the road. It seemed to happen when the left front tire encountered the bump or dip first.

The contact owns a 2017 ford f-250 sd. While driving 70 mph, the front end of the vehicle experienced a "death wobble". The failure impacted the steering and caused the steering wheel to vibrate violently. There were no warning indicators illuminated. Mcgrath ford (4001 1st ave se, cedar rapids, ia 52402) diagnosed that the control arm failed. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred after the repair. The manufacturer was notified and filed case number: 14400173. The failure mileage was 19,500. The vin was not available.

Vehicle starts to violently wobble, shudder, vibrate at speeds over 50mph for unkown reasons. It appears that highway speeds cause car to begin this death wobble. Road, weather, and speed conditions appear to be at random. This is so dangerous that it must be addressed immediately. This issue had been happening since the vehicle was new. It happens randomly and is very dangerous. Dealership needs instructions from manufacturer on how to repair.

While driving at normal highway speeds in normal driving conditions after coming to a bump in the road or expansion crack the truck steering wheel starts to shake violently. This will continue until the truck is slowed down to about 30 mph. The truck will at times move across lanes of traffic and into oncoming traffic. The dealer was made aware and replaced the steering stabilizer. The problem returned right away. The truck is scheduled for repair again dec 17 2018

Went over a bump in the road today at around 60 mph. My steering wheel started to shake uncontrollably and i had to slow down to about 25 mph to get it to stop. My truck has about 24k miles on it and this is the first time i have experienced anything like this. Upon further research it appears to be known as the 'death wobble'and hundreds of super duty owners are experiencing. This is something that should be investigated because this will cause someone to get seriously injured. I am lucky today no one was behind me on the highway slowing down from 60 to 25.

While driving at highway speeds, over 55 mph, after hitting uneven pavement the front end starts to shake erectly. If a tight grip is not maintained on the steering the truck will start to move all over the road. This has happened multiple times on a truck with less than 8500 miles on it. I have video evidence but the files are too large to upload.

Death wobble.violent shaking and wheel oscillation occurs if you hit a bump while traveling at speeds of 50mph or greater.the vehicle shakes uncontrollably and becomes tough or impossible to control.i've been forced into oncoming lanes while traveling down paved roads and into other lanes on 2-3 lane highways.luckily there was no opposing traffic to contend with at the time or serious injury and fatalities could have occurred.i have also noticed excessive break dust on the rims after short trips (250 miles or less).

While traveling down the highway, my truck experienced the death wobble. While driving, it started to shake so violently and almost caused us to hit the center median concrete wall. Then maybe 150 miles later, it did it again. Each time losing control almost causing a wreck on the highway. So on our way back home. I decided to drive more than 10 miles under the speed limit. I was doing 55 and the speed limit was 70. It happened two more times. As i have researched today only, this is happeneing a lot and many people lives are being put at risk. This issue needs to be escalated to ford and they should be forced to issue a recall and fix this issue instead of giving their customers the run around.

Driving 65 mph down the highway.steering wheel starts wobbling back and forth uncontrollably.vehicle veered out into oncoming traffic lane and i could not turn the steering wheel to avoid veering.very dangerous and lucky their was no oncoming traffic.vehicle only has 28000 miles on it.

While driving down a newer toll road about 70 mph i experienced the "death wobble".the front of my truck began bouncing and my steering wheel shook violently.it happened again a few days later while heading to the repair shop to have this diagnosed and repaired.

The following has happened several times over the last two weeks but i am not able to reproduce it on demand: while traveling along at highway speeds and after crossing a bump in the road or an expansion joint the vehicle will begin to experience a severe wobble that compromises directional control. Twice my vehicle has travelled across lanes of traffic despite my best efforts to maintain directional control while slowing the vehicle. Each time this wobble has occurred i have had to slow below approximately 30mph in order to make it stop. Needless to say, directional control and sudden slowing in highway traffic is a recipe for an accident.

Front end suffers from a severe shake at speeds over 50 mph.i have taken it to the dealer 3 times now and it still is not repaired.has gotten worse.

While driving on the expressway about 70 mph,the front end started shaking all over the place causing me to drive into the next lane.

At driving speed and went over rumble strips, truck begat to shake and had to brake and pul to side of road to regain control of vehicle. This is the second time this has happened, last time was on the interstate after crossing a rough spot.

"death wobble" steering wheel shakes violently at highway speeds. There are many complaints on-line someone is going to get injured. Help!

Terrible shaking of the front wheels, steering wheel and the whole rest of the truck at highway speeds......(death wobble)

Vehicle shakes uncontrollably when driving over 65 on any road and you hit a bump (like coming onto the highway at the beginning of a bridge). After the shaking has started, it will not stop until you have slowed down to almost a dead stop.i am concerned for my family, myself, as well as other drivers on the road. This is not acceptable. My truck is just over a year old and has been babied. I know someone who has died from this issue in the past so this really is concerning. Please take action before someone is killed.

I crossed an expansion joint on the interstate while traveling approx 60mph and my steering wheel began oscillating and the truck started violently shaking. Did not stop until i slowed down under 40 mph. This happened repeatedly with different areas of highway. Was brought to auto nation ford in canton ohio on march 20 and was supposedly repaired under bulletin tsb 18-2268. Thought problem was corrected until while driving on interstate on may 12 my truck did the exact same thing. Truck is currently at auto nation ford pending repair.

I have experienced what is called the death wobble since about 25,000 miles.it is a violent shaking causing the steering to bounce back and forth and is usually set off by something like an expansion joint in the road or a rough patch at highway speed.it is very aggressive and unpleasant.i have taken it into the ford dealership 4 times in the last 18,000 miles for this specific issue.each time they replace either the drag links or the steering dampener.i am still experiencing the same issue.it became a serious problem for me two days after got it back from the dealership and my wife used it to drive 600 miles. She experienced the death wobble on some ice patches on the freeway and was having trouble controlling the vehicle.i'm not sure why this has not become a recall but i can attest that a driver's safety is compromised by driving a 2017 ford f-250 super duty.i have off-road driving experience and i believe that is the only reason i have been able to avoid accidents over the last 18,000 miles of driving.

17 nov 2018, wife and i were traveling sb on i-15 near bountiful, ut going about 70mph when i went over a bump (where the road turns into a bridge). The vehicle immediately started to do a death wobble and we lost control of the vehicle. Breaks were very sluggish due to the front tires not making contact with the road.we were able to regain control and pull over and inspect the tires to find nothing wrong. We took the truck to les schwab where they informed us that we have several loose and broken parts. The dealers were closed or unable to get us in on saturday. The truck is a 2017 f-250 crew cab, 100% stock. If i was pulling a trailer, i would have lost complete control and would have been in an accident.this is a major safety issue if this truck cannot go down a highway without a death wobble. Someone of lesser driving skill will not know what to do and this truck could kill someone.video of the event: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jqftgqkdkpgyou can see in the video that as soon as i cross over the bridge, the truck reacts to it and starts to violently shake. The hood can clearly be seen vibrating and the dash cam records and saved the event as a crash.

Automatic tailgate assist just randomly goes down either while driving, while in park, or even just for no reason. This happened while in park with a trailer on the back and caused $2000 in damage which we had to pay for. Luckily all the other times it has happened, there was not a trailer on the back. We were not touching the key fob, so it didn't get "pinched" in a pocket or anything.

Rainwater leaks into cab onto floor board left and right side.

New, stock truck purchased at sunrise ford in fontana started experiencing death wobble at 7000 miles. Happens on the freeway at high speeds 65-70mph, causing the vehicle front end to bounce violently up and down after going over small bump. The truck continues to bounce & jerk around wildly until vehicle is slowed to under 40 mph.this is a known issue with ford and they have not corrected the problem. Who knows how many accidents or deaths have already occurred due to a driver losing control of their vehicle while going a high rate of speed while experiencing this "death wobble"?!? a new vehicle should be safe to drive, but this new $60,000 truck with under 10000 miles on it definitely is not.twice i have been to the dealership service station to have them take a look at it, stating the vehicle they sold me is dangerous and unsafe to drive and they have sent me away without even bothering to looking at it. They said they are busy, leave the truck with them and they can get to it in 2 days or so.i have to use it for work to pull my trailer, sorry ford but the oil changes can wait, safety takes priority, i will be trying again today.

Death wobble. Began with 5k miles on vehicle. When traveling at or more than 50mph vehicle unexpectedly goes into a violent shaking and vibration tantrum. Can be difficult to regain control of the vehicle unless it is slowed down to 15-20 mph. Extremely dangerous for driver and other cars in immediate vicinity.

Death wobble, total loss of control traveling over 50 miles an hour on highway. Wheel violently whippingback and forth fast and violently. Loss of control of vehicle almost causing major accident on highway.

At driving speed and went over rumble strips, truck begat to shake and had to brake and pul to side of road to regain control of vehicle. This is the second time this has happened, last time was on the interstate after crossing a rough spot.

7/2018 driving at 50 mph down the interstate my vehicle started shaking uncontrollably, i was in fear for my life. I took it to the dealership and it's a death wobble, they stated they repaired it and it only lasted about 1 month! here i am in 7/2019 and the problem still exists, i can not drive my $65k truck above 40 mph without this entire truck violently shaking. Very disappointed as my family is a ford family for 3 generations and fords will not fix the issue and i'm stuck with a truck i can't drive making $1,000/month payments on it. Can't trade it in due to the fact i can't afford it.it's very terrible that i have fear and anxiety with it. I don't feel safe at all in this truck, people stop and stare when it happens, which is daily.please make this right with me ford!

Front end suffers from a severe shake at speeds over 50 mph.i have taken it to the dealer 3 times now and it still is not repaired.has gotten worse.

While traveling about 60 mph on a rural road the truck front end started shaking rapidly. Steering wheel violently jerked out of my hand.truck was very hard to control and rapid braking was required in order to remain in control.vehicles traveling behind me also had to rapidly brake to avoid hitting me.checked the truck out and found nothing loose or obvioulsy broken.went on my way.truck now does this several times daily while drving.extremely dangerous.someone is going to get killed due to this issue, its just a matter of time.after some research i can see that this is a known issue referred to as "death wobble".two others i know of with brand new trucks are also having these issues. I took my truck to dealer at 7,000 miles complaining about "chatter" in the front end when hitting bumps. They stated nothing wrong, and now at 14,000 miles i am experiencing this violent shake.i no longer feel safe driving this truck, and it appears ford isnt fixing the issue, although i do have a call in to the dealer.ford appears to be slapping a new steering damper on the vehicle to mask the problem for a number of miles until it will return.a steering damper is designed to prevent this issue from happening on old or worn front end parts.this should not happen on a new truck under any circumstance, even with no steering damper.this issue needs a recall before someone is killed.

Thank you.

Wobble in front end at 65mph in front end area when driving on highway. Excessive play in drag link/tie rod when moving the steering wheel back and forth when vehicle is in park. Took vehicle to dealership, dealership tested and confirmed wobble. Repair covered under warranty repair invoice included as attachment/upload

This vehicle is experiencing "death wabble" at about 40 mph when hitting a bump in the road. Death wabble is uncontrollable shaking of the front axle that won't stop unless you reduce your speed or stop the vehicle. The vehicle has not been altered from original factory specs.

Terrible shaking of the front wheels, steering wheel and the whole rest of the truck at highway speeds......(death wobble)

Tailgate has opened on its own multiple times while driving. The tailgate is now damaged, it was caught against my trailer while driving.

My wife and daughter were traveling south on interstate 55 north of sikeston, missouri.my wife was driving the truck. Was traveling on i90 with my father, was doing 70 miles per when truck started shaking and jerking was all i could do to keep hold of steering wheel. There was a semi behind me that nearly hit us and there was nothing i could do about it, because i had to slow down to get the truck to stop shaking never been so scared

Terrible shaking of the front wheels, steering wheel and the whole rest of the truck at highway speeds......(death wobble)

The next day i took the truck to ford dealership where they are deciding what is wrong with and what caused this to happen. I have researched and found this is not an isolated issue and seems a huge problem with the 2017.
