I was driving down a street in my 2006 f250 sd, when all of a sudden the horn honked and stayed on (not like honk honk but like hhhhooonnnkk) i had to stop and pull the fuse to get the horn to turn off. It is a safety risk due the way other drivers get startled buy this sudden noise. And may very well causes and accident or kill some one if it happens at the wrong time. I have read online that is happens alot in the 03-06 f250, and when ford fixed my truck they replaced the fuse box, driver side air bag and horn assembly(at a cost of 1486.80). Stating that if i had been in an accident the air bag might not have deployed. So my life could have very much been in danger......... Thanks ford...

The contact owns a 2006 ford f-250 sd. The contact was driving 20 -30 mph on a wet surface. The brakes were applied lightly and the vehicle hydro-planed and crashed into a tree. The air bags did not deploy and the contacted was thrown into the rear of the vehicle with the seat belt restrained across him. He suffered injuries to his entire body and was taken to the hospital. The police were called and a report was filed. The vehicle was destroyed and the insurance company was notified. The manufacturer was notified and a claim was filed. The failure mileage was 115,000.

After letting 2006 f250 diesel warm up for approximately 5mins, proceed to get onto i-35, about 5 miles from the house when i set the cruise control for 70mph everything was fine. Within a mile of getting on the highway, truck hesitated and completely stalled. I move the vehicle onto the shoulder of the highway to await a tow. I took it to a ford dealership where they found that the ficm was bad.a day after i picked up the truck, again, the vehicle hesitated for a second before stalling in city traffic. I lost power brakes and power steering and was very difficult to get off of the city streets. Currently towed to the dealership again, where the issue is under investigation. Concern that if someone other than a 6'4" person was driving this 7500lb vehicle, they may not have been able to steer this vehicle out of the traffic. I've heard of common complaints with the ficm/hpop/egr issues with these trucks and am surprised that no recall has been created by ford.

While driving my 2006 f250 diesel super duty (have about 35000 miles on it) pulling a 26 foot rv travel trailer lost the electrical system.the speedometer went to 0, cruise control reset and basically all electrical systems shut down.the truck got real quiet.about 5 seconds later the electrical system restored and only light that came on,the dash was the abs light.the abs light remained on for about another 100miles and then went off.drove another 200 miles with no more problems.brought the truck to ford but there were no engine codes stored and problem could not be recreated.

2006 ford f250 superduty generator is faulty as stated by ford technical service bulliten dated september 19th 2006.

Ford f-250 sd, 5.4l engine. Repeated occurrences of abs light activation after one to one-and-a-half hours at cruising speeds between 55 and 70 mph. If cruise control is active when abs light activates, cruise control is disabled. On several occasions, the speedometer needle gyrated erratically for a few seconds also. After the abs light is activated, it stays on. Frequently, it comes back on immediately, sometimes through several restarts of the truck. That is, sometimes the abs light comes back on immediately when the truck is re-started.braking seems unaffected.

Large inaccuracies on the speedometer, sometimes doesn't work at all sometimes stuck on one speed. Never the right speed.

Have already cleared it w/enterprise for you to keep the car through monday..7-8 days. Called and spoke to brad at 1:06 pm, brad qtd spoke with tech and tech spent 4 hours this am on my truck don't have any new info, got parts for another truck in and have to shelf matt's truck and go back to the one that has been in our shop longer. We have four in here right now with the same problem. I rqstd a ford 250 diesel 4x4 while mine is being fixed, i qtd ..paid 45k plus to be able to haul and tow, also i can seat six passengers. Brad said that he would get his manager to call me.they tell me they have no idea and can't give me any tentative time frame for fixing my truck.

Speedometer would no longer go below 26 mph, even with vehicle stopped and ignition turned off. Driving vehicle would indicate a speed constantly 26 mph faster than actual speed. Brought to dealer where dealer ordered and later replaced entire instrument panel. Second problem involved passenger side wiper arm fell off while in operation driving during rain. Dealer replaced wiper arm.

Purchased vehicle 5 weeks ago. Have 5k miles on it.speedometer started sticking at 30 mph and continued to vary.parked with power off it still reads 20 mph.i am at work out of town (5 1/2 hours from home) have not taken to dealership yet.

Truck has had this problem since i bought it. A shimmy and vibration whenever going over any type of imperfection on the roadway. From a constant vibration up to a severe almost uncontrollable shimmy. Truck will even hop sideways when going over a small patch job on the hwy. I have bought new tires, keep my tire pressure constant and still have the problem. Please help if a fix is known. The last set of tires were ruined due to cupping. At $1300.00 a set, i do not want to have to replace again after only 15,000 miles, but more then that, i would hate to be the one causing an accident resulting in injury and even death.please let me know if ford has come up with a remedy to this problem.

Own a 2006 ford f250 powerstroke diesel. When vehicle is driven at about 65-70mph on the highway it tends to start a violent shake that can only be stopped by slowing down the vehicle. I almost got into a fatal accident. This has now occurred about 7 times. The vehicle has about 24,000 miles.

Any time i get on the interstate pulling my 7000 gvw trailer, the check engine light comes on. The code is always the same, under/over boost and then you limp along for a few miles and it will start working again.during this time it's hard to maintain a constant speed. The check engine light will come on within 10-15 miles of highway use at around 60 - 65 mph. Every owner that i talk to that has the 6.0 litre diesel tells me that they all do this and the only way to fix it is to install a egr delete kit at around $1,200.00. This will cure the problem but will pollute the air more. It's just a bad design and ford's not going to do anything about it unless the nhtsa steps in.

The contact owns a 2006 ford f-250. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start. The vehicle was towed to a local mechanic. The contact was not aware of the repair performed however, the failure persisted after repairs. The failure was not remedied. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.

The egr valve is a defective part on my 06 super-duty it has over heated on me the last two times i took my rv out ,after checking out after market parts stores i see they have one available that keeps it running cool. After doing more research its a well known fact that its a defective part along with the weak head bolts. I also heard that last year in 2009 that ford started repairing the egr on vehicles that were brought in that have factory warranty on them. My question is why no recalls have been issued ! ! ! !

2006 ford f250 super duty, diesel, 6.0 l, 4x4, crew cab, short bed: total loss of throttle response while driving. The engine runs, but the truck completely stops and will not move when the accelerator is pressed. There is no advance warning. It just stops moving right where it is. This has happened on several occassions over the last few months. The egr valve has been replaced several times or cleaned the other times, but the vehicle is unsafe on the road because it stops suddenly right in the middle of the traffic lane. Why hasn't a recall been made on the egr and related parts....everytime we take it to the shop that's all that's in there for the same reasons!!

Filed complaint previously.egr and oil cooler failure...caused engine failure and hydrolock situation.total cost of repairs to my vehicle $8650.sure would be nice for ford to have a hand in the repairs due to their faulty engine design.ford refused to help with repair cost.120k miles.please launch an investigation into these complaints.i believe you will find enough evidence to warrant an investigation.i am sure that the lobbyist at ford are doing their job to keep this from becoming a recall situation.it is hurting no one but the owners of this 6.0l diesel engine!!!we need your help!

2006 f250 superduty 6.0: this vehicle stalls while driving down the road just about every day.i noticed that there was a recall for the same engine on the 2004 f250 for the same thing.it stalled last week going into a hard turn and i ran off the road because i was unable to control the vehicle after it stalled.it could have been lethal if there were more traffic....i had it towed ($250) it has been in the shop for a week....looking for answers.. This vehicle is a death trap.... *ln

Ford 6.0l diesel egr and oil cooler issues.how many millions of dollars are the owners of these engines going to have to shell out before ford recalls this motor.when these components go out, there is a total loss of throttle response, and large clouds of white smoke that pour out of the exhaust which poses a huge safety concern.when mine failed, i was able to limp through an intersection just before an 18 wheeler broadsided me.i had my wife and kids in the vehicle with me and we almost lost an entire family.get it fixed ford!!!nhtsa has to pressure ford into getting this recall started.this is an ongoing issue with these motors, and it needs to be corrected on ford's account.

Dt*:the contact stated the vehicle pumped out a lot of blue and white smoke from the exhaust.the fumes entered the vehicle, and the smell was worse when driven 45 mph.also, there was a problem with the egr belt and egr cooler. The vehicle was taken to the dealership three times, but could not be fixed.

I have a new 2006 ford f-250 sd diesel 6.0l. The first year i owned it 7,000 miles i blew a head gasket. It took ford more than 5 weeks to fix it and 2 different dealerships of hassle. 6 months later the problem has happened again. I spoke with ford they gave me an appointment 1 month after i called to set the appointment. After that month dealership took 4 weeks of my time with my truck and didn't fix a thing. Told me they were to busy to deal with me and i should take it to another dealership to get fixed. Got ford customer relations involved and they have done nothing. I now have my "unfixed" truck in my driveway with another appointment 2 weeks away and that dealership says it will be some time before they can get to it. No customer service plus they haven't offered me any money for car rental fees nothing. Please advise.updated 01/11/08.*lja complaint was filed with the police. Updated 12/12/07.

2006 ford f250 superduty truck floormats are causing the accelerator pedal to get stuck and the brakes wont stop the truck if its floored. I thought my family was going to die. We didn't know what was causing the accelerator to stick. Thank god i noticed the mat or we would all be dead for certain. Please follow up on this issue. My husband revved the engine because the truck was having other mechanical issues but anyone who may floor their vehicle could kill themselves or others on the road. We are cautious of this problem and know not to press the pedal too far down. Others may not be aware!

Ford f-250 with no brake light or rear turn signals. Customer states that this is a safety defect. He stated that the dealer said they would be able to look at it within 7 days. Consumer believes that is unacceptable.

2006 f-250 sd 6.0 diesel engine.a fuel leak onto the engine developed due to a degraded o-ring where the fuel pressure regulator assembly attaches to the engine mounted fuel filter.the leakage was estimated at 6 drops per minute when the engine was running.the housing and o-ring are subject to approximately 45 psig and are on the upper section of the engine.the leak was detected due to strong odor of unburned diesel fumes coming in the hvac system when stopped at a light and at the front exterior of the truck just after shutting the engine off.the dealer stated and my own research on internet forumns indicated this is a common issue.under the wrong circumstances this could be a fire hazard and at best is an issue with environmental impact to some degree.the dealer is making this repair at my expense.

Fuel tank straps failed due to corrosion and fuel tank fell to ground while in motion on a highway

The contact owns a 2006 ford f-250 sd.while driving between 45-70 mph, the entire vehicle shakes violently.the vehicle was taken to the dealer four different times for this failure, but it was unable to be repaired.the contact traded the vehicle in at a loss.the failure mileage was 4,806.

Both front driver and passenger electric heated seats switch is too easily to inadvertently bump into the "on" position by driver/passenger legs.ford needs to redesign a relocation or retrofit kit to move the switch or change the momentary on/off switch to a different type of switch.this condition has made me pull off the side of the road many of times to let the seat cool down which takes a while...especially during the summer months.this situation creates an unexpected sudden heating of the seat and can make the operator very uncomfortable.additionally, i had pull over as fast as i could leaving the truck at times in a vulnerable lane of traffic.please have someone from ford call me at [xxx] or email me at [xxx]for additional information.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

In late 2011, while driving my truck down highway 90 east in pascagoula, ms, the truck began slow down and pull dramatically to the right after applying the brakes.i managed to wrestle with the steering wheel and, in combination with the slowing speed, brought the truck safely to a stop in a walmart parking lot in about 1 mile.i inspected the truck and the front right rotor was smoking and glowing red hot.apparently the brake caliper had seized after application.i went inside walmart to kill time and let the brakes cool off, hoping that when cooled, the caliper would release and the truck would be drivable.after approximately 1-1/2 hours, i returned to the truck and noted that the wheel was not smoking, but was still radiating heat.i began to drive the truck and it drove without any noticeable issues until i applied the brakes again to stop at a traffic light.after releasing the brake, the truck was now pulling to the left.expecting a similar issue, i decided to drive directly to the ford dealership in pascagoula.however, upon needing to apply the brakes again, they did not work at all. I had to use the parking brake to bring the truck to a stop as the regular brakes had completely failed.i continued to experience similar brake issues (pulling and heating from seized calipers) and in june 2015 had a similar experience to the one in 2011.looking at blogs and complaint sites, ford's super duty series of trucks, as well as f-150s, are known to have brake issues.this is a serious problem that ford needs to be held accountable to fix.please help.i'm tired of shelling out $2,000+ when all i should have to do is replace the brake pads due to normal wear and tear.due to the sudden and severe "pull" and subsequent loss of stopping ability, this has the potential to be a very serious safety problem.

Driving down the highway and hit a bump in the road the truck started to do the death wobble and shaking uncontrollably.i have to slow down and jerk the wheel to get it to stop. Its increasingly getting worse and now doing it at lower speeds around 25- 30mph. This has almost caused wrecks with vehicles rear ending me, or wobbling in their direction. It also happened in a neighborhood with children playing, i thought i was going to hit the kids! the brakes also fail while beaking and hitting a bump. The tires are at the recommended pressure and that is not the problem. This is a very common problem as i have seen while doing more research. Im afraid this will eventually cause the truck to roll or wreck. Dont let the loss of life open this investigation again.

The contact owns a 2006 ford f-250 super duty. The contact stated that while driving 30 mph, the vehicle would began shaking as the contact attempted a turn. When applying the brakes, the shaking would become worse. The contact did not take the vehicle to the dealer or a mechanic for diagnostic testing. The contact did not contact the manufacturer. The failure mileage was 63,000.

Emergency brakes do not hold.have had them checked for adjustment several times.is a major problem with a manual transmission as it has no park pins.although my insurance covered it, it actually rolled into another building on my property.i have to us a wood block against the wheel to stop it from rolling on all but the slightest incline.there have been several occurrences when this has happened.

The right rear brake drags occasionally....and many other ford truck owners are having the same problem....

The contact owns a 2006 ford f-250 super duty. The contact stated that the brakes seized and overheated. The vehicle was taken to a independent mechanic who stated that the caliper housing and brake pads needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The current and failure mileage was 125,000.

While driving i noticed that the vehicle was sluggish and when engaging the clutch in order to shift there was a noticeable braking feeling even though i was not touching the brake pedal. Upon reaching home i saw my front wheels/rotors/calipers smoking and the heat from the wheels could be felt almost 3 feet from the vehicle. I took my pick-up to the dealer and was told that my front calipers had frozen as well as the right rear and the leftrear was just as bad but had not frozen yet and probably would. This repair required four (4) new calipers, brake pads and required the rotors to be resurfaced. The dealer said that no recall had been made for this item.

Cruise control will not disengage, truck wants to speed up even with brake on, this is an ongoing problem started in january of 2009.

The contact owns a 2006 ford f-250 super duty. While having the brakes serviced by an independent mechanic, the contact was informed that the backing plates for the rear brakes were severely corroded and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileages were 40,000.

Brake line failure.

The contact owns a 2006 ford f-250 superduty. While driving at approximately 50 mph on an uneven road, the steering wheel began shaking. The contact was also unable to slow the vehicle down since when the brake pedal was depressed, it would release. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealership but no repairs were performed when the complaint was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 38,000. The current mileage was approximately 97,000.

Drove home from the store about 10 miles right rear brake caliper failed and seized.when we got home smoke was pouring out from under the truck, when we discovered it.burned the paint off the brake dust shield.ford dealer said it was a defective caliper but i have to pay $750.00?that's not right.and they tell me it has happened to other ford trucks?

Shimmy- the shimmy problem that occurs in the 4x4 f250 should still be a significant issue for those of us that still own these trucks. The dealer tried the tire inflation story with me, but that did not correct the problem. Road racing sport cars for many years i know that one pound can make a difference in handling and i made sure that the tires were inflated correctly. Then they told me that ford sent them a new set of alignment specs. Well as we all know now that did not fix it either. Then they told me that the tires being cupped was causing the shimmy, my response to that was that it was the shimmy causing the tires to cup not the tires being cupped causing the shimmy, although the worse the cupping, the worse the shimmy. After insisting on new tires and then the new line up specs, we tried it again. Then 960 miles later and only road driving the same cupping was happening again. Then it was the dampener and attach point that was the problem. Then 2 years later came the letter about decelerating and applying the brakes and then about 45 mph it should fix it. I guess that would be ok until your going down the interstate at 70 mph with an 18 wheeler behind you going 70 mph. Would it be ok after what could be a serious and possibly fatal accident that i could pull out my letter that i got from ford and tell everyone, sorry but i drive a ford.

Front brakes seized up when driving down road just as warranty was to expire.contacted dealer after this had happened 4-5 times.dealer replaced front calipers but was out of warranty.4 months later had to replace both rear calipers for seizure problem.ford dealer would not provide any compensation.now 2 months later, check brake light is on.

2006 ford-250 sd. S10 appropriate handling-letter from regarding ford problems *tgwthe consumer stated the right rear caliper seized which caused heavy smoke. The dealer informed the consumer the calipers were defective.the consumer stated the brakes still have not been repaired to his satisfaction. There was a mushy feel when the brake pedal was applied.

The contact owns a 2006 ford f-250 super duty.the contact stated that the rear brakes would malfunction when driving in reverse.the contact stated that the brake line collapsed causing the calipers to close in on the brake pads.this caused the caliper seal to burst and brake fluid began leaking from the vehicle.the vehicle was towed to a dealer where the entire rear braking system was replaced.the manufacturer advised the contact that repairs would be at the contacts expense and they would not assist.the contact stated if the vehicle was traveling at a higher rate of speed, a crash could have potentially occurred.the failure mileage was 51,500.

I was traveling on the freeway at 60 mph. The vehicle went into a violent shaking after going over an uneven road surface.the vehicle jumped a half lane over and i had lost control until my speed was reduced. At that time i was afraid of slamming on the brakes and losing more control or possibly flipping over. Now this violent shaking occurs every time i hit a pot hole or any uneven surface at 55 to 60 mph.i have taken my vehicle to ford service and they can not find any problem that would cause the violent shaking. After doing some research i found a video of this on you tube as "f-250 death wobble". This video says it all and is based on a stock original equipment f-250 super duty.

Pulling out from a stop, turned left at about 25 mph very tight pull on steering to left, pulling wheel to left (felt like loss of pwr steering) when it came back truck shot to right. Felt like there was 20/30deg play in wheel then came out of it. Had it checkedcould not find any thing this started appox 3/4 months ago. Pulling into a parking lot wheel got very tight again , stopped turned wheel way left, way right, way left then started going easy again. Called ford dealer today and said been having trouble with steering boxes on these trucks, it will cost about 1100.00 to repair. This is not an isolated problem internet has hundreds of these complaints, and nothing is being doneif ford doesn't do anything about this problem someone is going to get injured very bad or killed.

The contact owns a 2006 ford f-250 sd. The contact stated that while driving approximately 70 mph over an uneven road surface, the vehicle began to violently shake. The contact was able to slow down the vehicle and regain control. The failure occurred approximately five times on an intermittent basis. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer for diagnostics. The contact was a mechanic and inspected the vehicle himself, but was unable to diagnose the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 40,000.

My 2006 ford f250sd goes into a violent shake when you hit a bump when traveling at speeds of 60 mph. It feels like the front end is going to fall off.

The truck at 55 - 65 mph goes into what has been describe as a death wobble. The truck starts shaking violently. It is all you can do to keep control of the truck until you slow down to about 40 mph which is dangerous on the freeway. Ford has a defect in the steering on these trucks and it needs to be fixed. I fear for my family's safety. The ford dealership cannot fix it.it has been doing this since about 12000 miles. It now has 100000 miles and still has not been fixed. It has been doing thissince about 2008.

The truck showed no signs of trouble leading up to the event. While drivingapproximately 50-55 miles an hour and heading around a right hand corner in the road the truck hit an indentation in the road surface which caused the truck to shake uncontrollably and drift into the oncoming lane causing the trucks mirror to hit a box truck and smash into the interior of my truck. When the truck slowed down to below 35, i regained control of the vehicle and pulled off to the right shoulder. The box truck, apparently not realizing what had happened, continued on without stopping. The mirror was destroyed, glass was covering the interior of my truck, and i suffered minor cuts on my face and arm. I returned home with my truck at speeds under 40 mph, but still could feel a shudder when the truck hit either a raised bump or an indentation in the road. The dealer replaced several parts in the front end of the truck, but not the mirror. I was told that the mirror would not be covered under warranty. The truck has not had the problem since. I am not aware if the old parts are still available.

My 2006 f-250 shakes violently when i travel at between 45 and 50 mph. I put on new tires and the same thing is happening. I've taken them to get balanced and it still happens. I took it back to the dealer and they keep telling me it's the tires.

I have an 06 f250.while driving at approx. 40-45 since i ve had the truck new i have had major wobble. Yesterday on the interstate i was driving my family back from disneyland and hit a pothole around 70mph. The truck shook out of control it was all i could do to get the truck to the shoulder. I have taken the truck in several times and have been told no problems. Please do something before someone gets killed.

The contact owns a 2006 ford f-250 sd. The contact was driving approximately 60-70 mph when he traveled over a pot hole and the steering wheel began to shake violently. The contact had to move off the roadway to gain control of the vehicle. The vehicle was not inspected by a dealer or a mechanic. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 56,000. The current mileage was approximately 59,000. The vin was unavailable.

The contact owns a 2006 ford f-250 super duty. The contact stated the vehicle pulled to the right and then to the left whenever the vehicle was cold. When the failure occurred it was very difficult to maneuver the steering wheel and control the vehicle.the vehicle was not inspected, but the contact was a mechanic and stated that the failurecould caused by a stuck valve. The failure mileage was unknown, but the current mileage was 49,000.

Severe shaking of the front end occurred 3-4 times at highway speeds (70 mph) after hitting a rough spot in the road. This condition was so severe and frightening that i had to hold the truck straight and come to an almost complete stop. The first time it happened i got out to change the tire and discovered that none were flat. I then remembered that ford had sent me a letter describing a problem with "shimmy", a severe vibration and oscillation in the steering wheel. They then blamed it on pressure. I don't recall the pressure in my tires at the time but i believe they were not too low.i have my trucked serviced regularly at the ford dealership.my tires were worn (over 50000) but still had a little tread left. Btw- i bought the truck new with these same tires. I have not modified my truck. I do not believe in "lifting" a 4wd vehicle. I do have a camper on my truck but it only weighs 1300 lbs. My truck is an 2006 f-250 with a camper suspension (i believe this is an extra 300 lb. Rating) which should easily accommodate this weight. I believe at the time the dealership blamed it on the tires (worn and under-inflated). I had them put new tires on (same exact kind).and do a good balance job. Normally i would not have bought tires at the dealership. This fixed the problem.i still had this issue in the back of my mind and wanted to resolve it. I would not want to sell a vehicle with this condition. I just got back from a 2 week trip to montana and had the issue come back (i now have 95000 on my truck (40000) on this second set of tires. It happened twice in utah coming down steep hills within miles of each other. This time it seemed to be a result of heavy braking and was not as severe, as i didn't have to come to a complete stop. I put air in the tires prior to the trip. Right now i just measured the pressure @ 70 psi on both front tires (spec says 80) and measured .185 inches of tread left.this condition should not occur even if the tires are worn.i need this fixed.

My '06 ford f-250 has a design flaw that causes it to shake violently at speed and requires to almost stop to correct. Very unsafe and now about useless to drive. Are there similar complaints and what can be done to fix this problem? thanks, dante

2006 f250 front end wobble or extreme vibration after hitting a small pot hole in road. Even 2 or 3 uneven cracks in road will cause truck to jump out of control at speeds over 40 mph?? not happy, i just bought this used and not happy at all. Taking back to dealership to let them look at. Ford certified ??

Driving along at about 45 mph, hit a rough patch of pavement and the front end of the truck began to bounce and the steering wheel began to oscillate back and forth, although the truck did not go left or right from the line of travel. After slowing down the truck came back under my control, bounce and oscillation stopped.this has happened numerous times (weekly), with the original tires and with replacement tires. I have had the front end aligned and tires balanced. I check the air pressure weekly. All of this had no affect on the oscillations. I would drive over the same areas daily andcould continue to repeat what had happened by driving the same speed over the same piece of bad pavement. It is no worse or better than when it first happened. But having my wife drive the truck and have the same issue concerned me. I did research that led me to find out that this is a problem affects numerous f-250s and to your website. I wish i had complained about this when it began, but my truck was out of warranty and i thought i was out of luck (still may be).

Uncontrollable wheel shimmy at speeds from 35 -65 mph.the failure can be replicated at will.previous investigation for this problem stopped at a tire pressure problem but this is not the case.new tires, proper pressure, balanced, rotated does not change the condition.poor air pressure maintenance by vehicle owners was not the correct diagnosis of this problem. The wheel shimmy is a common problem with these trucks and needs to be investigated further.it is very dangerous and unpredictable.the wheel shimmy will not stop until the vehicle has almost come to a complete stop.loss of control and becoming a traffic hazard is a potential life threatening event for the driver, passengers and surrounding vehicles.there is an apparent fix for this problem by an after market company but the expense of about $1000 for the oem repair is not acceptable for what appears to be a manufacturer design problem.

Front end wobble at speeds between 40-50 mph after driving over bumps.no repairs help the condition, front end alignment, wheel balancing/totation or new tires.proper tire inflation.ford dealer is aware of conditon and repairs but wont provide any other assistance.

The vehicle is a 2006 ford superduty 4x4. Has had no modifications to suspension. Still factory tires and currently at 31,000 miles. I can no longer drive the truck on the interstate. Hitting even a small bump at 65mph causes the front end to shake so badly that controlling the truck is no longer possible. Today 04/13/11 the most recent incident it happened in the afternoon rush on i95 here in richmond where i live. Sending me across the lanes and almost off the road,. I am a virginia state safety inspector. I can assure you that all steering parts are still like new and tight. I even retorqued all bolts. I have talked to the local ford dealer. They say there's a tsb for a new damper. This problem is far beyond a steering damper.. It has done this a total of 4 times, but im sure will do it every time you hit a bump at highway speed. Ford wont or cant fix it and i don't know what to do with a truck that i cant drive on the interstate. It would make a great test truck for the nhtsa since it isn't good for much else since i have to travel the interstate on a weekly basis.

F250 4x4 truck experienced for the 3rd time the "death wobble" while driving down the freeway at about 65 mph. Steering was out of control and the truck bounced out of the lane nearly hitting another vehicle and causing several cars to slam on their brakes. This was after hitting a small bump in the road.

Every time i hit a pothole on the freeway my front end wobbles violently as the hole front end is about to drop out. It only stops when i slow way down.

While driving a 2006 f250 super duty xl 4x4 on i-40 the vehicle began to shake violently at 70 mph. This occurred after driving over a bridge. The vehicle shook so violently it was hard to maintain control and bring it to a stop. After this incident it also occurred throughout the remainder of the trip. Apparently this has happened to other drivers of this vehicle since it is a company owned vehicle. And several dealers have attempted to repair this problem to no avail.

Violent shaking when hitting a rough place in highway.shaking is so bad that you have no control of steering until a panic braking brings vehicle to under 30 mph.

The contact owns a 2006 ford f-250 sd.while driving 75 mph orany high speed, the vehicle shakes violently when it drives over a bump in the road.the shaking is uncontrollable and the contact can barely control the vehicle.the dealer test drove the vehicle at low speeds and found no failures.the failure mileage was 12,000.

When driving highway speeds i never know when the front end is going to violently shake so bad that i can't see out the rear view mirrors to even know who is around me when my truck is completely out of control. I can't believe someone has not died yet!it's not if, but when. A joint in the road, pot hole, or just a pavement irregularity causes it, but i never know when. I've asked service and sales techs at both phil long ford/littleton, co and lakewood ford/lakewood, co and received the same line of crap, that i'm the first person who ever mentioned it.check my tire pressure is what i'm told. All i had to do was google the problem and i found a seemingly endless list of complaints of the exact same problem. This site was already aware of the problem because when i went to select the "failed components", steering was already highlighted. This is a $50,000 truck i'm afraid to do the speed limit in.loaded or unloaded, pulling a trailer or not, the problem can present itself.how many complaints or deaths does it take before ford is held responsible for this defect?

While driving down the road the steering on the truck got tight and felt like it had lost power steering. It was difficult to keep the vehicle on the road. This has happened on several occasions. It is currently in the shop and having the steering pump changed. Hope this corrects the issue.

I have a 2006 ford f250 pickup, 4wd, diesel.when i hit a bump on the highway it causes a front end shimmy that nearly causes me to lose control.it has 52,000 miles on it but has done this since new.it has no lift kit, no modifications.i have inquired with other late model f250 owners and they have experienced the same problem.ford says it's due to lift kits, ours have no lift kits.this is a dangerous condition and could cause an accident.

Purchased a 2006 f250 super duty 8-08 used with 56,000 miles.5 times since then truckat highway speeds over a small bump will go out of control steering wheel shakes very bad and takes a few seconds to regain control.last time this happened truck swerved over 2 lanes and on to shoulder before re gaining control.others have had same experience in same truck. Replaced tires did not cure problem.was a ford mechanic at a dealership for 5yrs. Inspected truck my self all suspension parts and steering components are tight and in good shape. Wont let my wife and child ride or drive this vehicle received a notice from ford that stated improper tire pressure is the problem, i will assure you that it is not!!

I have a 2006 f250 superduty that has numerous issues.latest is wheel shake after hitting a bump, power steering box has over 3" of steering wheel play, and ball joint just had to be replaced.not to mention diesel engine issues and excessive air noise.i am being told this is common problems in ford diesels do to engine weight.

Steering sticks only to the right causing not only me but my wife to wreck at various different speeds. Afraid one day one of us will actually wreck with one of our kids in the vehicle with us and serious injury occurs. Just wondering what it could be.

I was taken by extreme shock when this first happened, crossed a paving joint on the highway traveling about 70mph, it felt like the tires were shaking off, no control for a few moments. I pulled off the highway at a safe location to check the lug nuts...they were tight.now these occurrences arehappening at greater frequencies and at lower speeds (45mph)the shaking is severe and uncontrollable until you can slow down enough for it to stop. I almost had a head on collision this last winter. The shimmy started on dry pavement then went to an ice patch. I spent a lot of money on this first diesel i've owned and i'll tell you i never imagined the loss of confidence in driving a vehicle as i have experienced with this one. I am not a not a neophyte to owning and driving trucks, 4 wheel and 2 wheel drive, this one however, is a scary ride. Like most of everyone i know, disposable money is tight and i haven't gone to the dealer because i assumed whatever was wrong would cost me far more money to fix than i could afford. I was glad to see a letter arrive yesterday to assure me that i am not the only person out here having problems with their ford truck. I hope there is a recall on this problem, i'd like to have a safe vehicle to drive.

Ford f250 2006 4x4 super duty lt. When driving and hitting minor bumps in the road the front end will start to shake violently until significant speed reduction. Has happened multiple times and can be reproduced. Going to replace the steering dampener as that is less expensive than taking it to the dealer who will not say if they have heard of the issue. Could be a huge safety issue especially if it happens unexpectedly.

I have on several occasions had my f250 super duty 6.0 diesel shimmy very violently.these occurrences happened at speeds of 50 to 65 mph.on one occasion on the interstate i actually pulled over thinking i had a blowout.now at 75000 miles, it is starting to shimmy on rough pavement even at slower speeds of 35 to 45 mph.

When drivingwhen you go over a bump ,rxr crossing or man hole cover the front end of the vehicle severely shakes to the point you have to jam on the brakes or wreck. I replaced the steering stabilizer as instructed to but the outcome has not changed. I have called ford numerous times, both the dealer and ford manufacturer. They both act like they have never heard of this severe problem.

I own a 2006 f250 4*4 and while driving at speeds in excess of 60 mph the truck shakes violently and even sways from lane to lane, when encountering any rough place in the roadway. This is a very violent shaking and i have been fortunate enough to keep the truck from wrecking. The shaking will not stop until you have slown down dramatically or come to a stop. Ford has commented that it could be the air pressure and have ordered a steering damper to try to correct the problem. This truck has done this since day one and with the factory tires and the new tires that i have on it now. This problem needs to be addressed before someone is killed in an accident resulting from the defect in design.

The ford death wobble. My 2006 f250 becomes unable to drive after hitting a small bump in the road at speeds above 55 mph the front wheel shake so bad that you have to almost stop for it to stop shaking. And this can be a problem when you are driving on the interstate and pulling off the road is a problem. There was even a show done on the problem on truck-u where they had to replace the track bar on the truck to repair the ford death wobble. I have talk to ford and the has said that the problem is cause be the tire not at the right pressure we is bull if that was the problem they would not have done a show about it you would think that ford would have watched the show and then they would know how to fix the problem, but i guess someone will have get hurt before they will do anything.

Front end and steering wheel shutters at highway speeds. Shuttering start for no apparent reason. Vehicle must be brought to a complete stop to regain control.

Our company received a letter from ford motor company addressing an issue with f-super duty 250/350 4x4. It explains how a severe shimmy coming from the front end can be a problem. It offers a solution of using the correct tire pressure. We are a county office, upkeep and maintenance is first priority and tire pressure is check weekly and always meets manufactures recommendation. That is not a solution to this problem. While traveling at highway speeds, when the pick-up hits a bump in the road, it takes all that i have to keep the truck on the road! this i feel is a serious danger! tire pressure i feel is a cheap attempt at a solution.

My truck had a earlier crash due to a faulty steering box in december 2013.the body shop replaced this- with a factory steering box. We noticed a little tightness on one side and had the body shop look at it again. They stated there was nothing wrong. We had the truck going through a car wash (3/8/14) and it took 3 men to try to control the steering when the truck came out of the wash. Once again we are attempting to have this defective part replaced.

My 2006, 5.3 gas engine, 4 wheel drive, f250 super duty has had excessive wheel hop, bouncing, vibration, and sometimes, violent shaking of the whole front of the truck, when going over expansion joints, bumps and road defects since it was nearly new. This results in the steering wheel shaking and makes the truck hard to control. When new with 300 miles on it in feb. 2007, i drove it from ma to fl and noticed that sometimes it shuddered, when going over a bump at speeds over 50. That is, it did not just give one hard jolt, but bounced a few times. Thebouncing got worse as mileage on the vehicle went up. Sometimes the truck would move laterally after a hard bump, that is, move to the edge of the traveled lane, or partially into one of the adjacent lanes. Now, within the last 2 weeks, at its extreme of vibrations and bouncing, the violent shaking has happened to me twice, both times when traveling on a highway at 60-68 mph, after going over an expansion joint coming off or going on to a bridge. First time, on sept 16, 2007, with about 9000 miles on the f250, shaking lasted about 5 seconds, on i64 in virginia beach, va, and then, on sept. 28, 2007, for about 10 seconds, or about 1000', on the new jersey turnpike. During these last 2 incidents, i thought that i might easily have lost control of the vehicle and have either injured someone else or myself. Both of the serious violent shaking episodes happened on a dry interstate highway in decent condition with other traffic traveling at the same speed and many, many other vehicles going over the same bumps. I have checked the tire pressure and all the tires read about 50#, the same as when i got the truck on jan. 31, 2007. There are no obvious defects in the tires. Now, it shudders when going over very minor bumps, sometimes even at below 45 mph. I've made it back from my trip and there are about 9500 miles on the truck and i am taking it to the dealer this week. This problem could result in the loss of life.

The contact owns a 2006 ford f-250 sd.while driving 55-70 mph, the steering wheel vibrated and the vehicle moved from left to right.the dealer was unable to diagnose the cause of the failure.the contact took the vehicle to the dealer on two occasions and they stated that the steering damper caused the failure.the dealer made the replacement.as of november 26, 2007, there had been no further occurrences.the failure mileage was 8,000 and current mileage was 12,120.

Loss of control due to frontend shimmy.

Highway driving conditions at 65 mph , violent shaking of the truck occurred resulting in dangerous loss of control of the vehicle.vehicle came to a complete stop to end the shaking.vehicle was taken to a ford dealer where a steering damper kit was installed.

I have a 2006 ford f250 super duty. Trucks shakes violently out of control @ 40-50 miles per hour gets worse until you come to an immediate stop. Problem has gotten so bad it would happen three - four times every time i would drive the truck. Has been to several shops and many things done to fix the problem but nothing works. The more research i do, the more i find out it looks like a manufacture/engineering defect. I really don't want to give up my truck that i planned and budgeted to keep for the next 10 years. Please help!

2006 ford superduty crew cab f-250 4x4 dieselthis vehicle has on many occasions started wobbling so bad after hitting a bump that it is out of control and the brakes do not work. I don't know what it takes to get you to do something besides slap ford motor on the wrist. I know you have hundreds if not thousands of complaints just like mine about this vehicle. All ford has done is issue a vague tsb that does not even attempt to fix the problem. I demand a recall on this vehicle until they can fix this problem. I have spent thousands of my own money trying to fix my truck and i still am having this problem. I believe most of the issue is in the steering box used on this vehicle and ford should re-design and fix this issue on their own dime. Alot of us have paid $50,000 for a vehicle that we are too scared to put our family in and drive. My wife refuses to even ride in it anymore.

While driving down a fairly smooth highway at 55 mph.my 2006 ford f250 sd powerstroke started shaking, and the steering wheel starting moving back and forth rapidly.i thought it was a loose wheel or a flat, but it was not.i had to slow down to around 45 mph and it stopped.after doing some investigating on the internet i found that this is a very common thing for this model pick-up, and that nothing is being done to correct it by ford.this has happened to me twice now, and it is very scary.i hope that it does not have to take someone having a fatal accident for ford to do something about this.

The contact owns a 2006 ford f250 superduty. The contact stated that when driving between 30-60 mph or when driving over an uneven road surface, the vehicle would shake uncontrollably. The vehicle was taken to the dealer numerous times for the failure. The tires were replaced, balanced and aligned several times however, the failure was not corrected. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 55,000 and the current mileage was 62,000.

2006 f250 sd diesel shakes extremely violently when cruising at 55mph+ and hitting a bump in the road.truck is uncontrollable, difficult to avoid other cars.slowing to about 35 mph will resolve the situation.this has happened 6 times in 11 months, both towing trailers, empty, etc.tire pressure, joints, bearings, dampener, alignment etc are all fine.research shows this to be extremely common among 2005-2006 f250 owners, no permanent solution is known by ford.

I own a 2006 ford f-250 ext cab truck and i am experiencing a hyper-shake in the front end after hitting un even surfaces. The hyper-shake mainly happens when going speeds over 50 mph. I live on a dirt rode with lots of pot holes and even when driving slow the front end bounces all over the rode.i brought the truck to a ford dealer and they found and replaced the steering stabilizer. It had a slight bend in it. It helped a little but truck still shaking when hitting any bumps. The shake is very dangerous especially on the highway. While experiencing the hyper-shake your brakes do not slow it down quick enough and i veered into another lane while going 65mph.

2006 f-250 sd truck.driving down the road and hit a bump in the road.the trucks front end gets shaky.it is like you almost loose control of the truck.i have to hit the brakes until it straighten itself out.i have the truck in the shop right now to get a front end alignment.they are telling me the front end needs a shim installed in the right front suspension.i have heard from a few other people with the same truck having the same problem.you really feel like you are going to loose control of the truck and crash.

Normal highway driving conditions. Speeds between 65 and 75 mph when the incidents occurred, hit a bump or dip in road. Violent shaking of the front end, resulting in dangerous loss of control and lane changes. Had to slow vehicle down to below 30 mph or afull stop in order to end the violent shaking. Happenedmore often after vehicle has been driven for long distances. Gets worse and more frequent as driving continued. First occurrence, taken to ford dealer, and they replaced defective" steering damper. Second time taken to ford dealer - they ran tcp for new alignment specs and new, improved steering damper. Third time taken to ford dealer - replaced track arm ball joint and adjusted alignment to more new specs. Fourth time at ford dealer - tsb adjusted alignment to new specs and replaced steering damper with another new, improved part. Vehicle is in repair shop for fifth time at this moment. No attempted repairs have lasted more than 2000 miles.

High speed wobble.

The contact owns a 2006 ford f-250 super duty.while driving 70 mph, the steering wheel shook and made a rattling noise.the contact had difficulty controlling the steering wheel.in order to stop the shaking, the vehicle had to be slowed down to a minimum speed of 50 mph.there were no warning lights illuminated on the instrument panel.the failure has occurred four times.the dealer stated that the air pressure in the tires caused the shaking.the contact received a letter, which stated that his make and model vehicle was experiencing issues with the steering.the vehicle will not be repaired because it is not under warranty.ford is aware of the failure, but refuses to issue a recall.the failure mileage was 20,000 and current mileage was 64,000. Updated 06/08/09the consumer was told the steering dampener was too small for the vehicle. Updated 06/18/09

The contact owns a 2006 ford f-250 sd.while driving 55 mph or greater, the front end of the vehicle vibrates when driving over a bump in the road.the dealer inspected the vehicle, but were unable to determine the cause of failure.the dealer stated that the failure was normal.the current mileage was 1,500 and failure mileage was 50.

Driving my 2006 ford f250 super duty crew cab 4x4 at highway speed of 70 mph the trucks front end began to vibrate and bounce uncontrollably after going over an uneven section of bridge. The vibration was so bad i thought the front end of the truck was going to tear itself apart. As i began to slow the truck down and get out of the normal traffic lanes the vibration and bouncing did not finally subside until about 35 mph. While this occurred with my entire family in the truck i was fearful of what may happen and when it may happen again as we were still several hours from our home. A few miles later we crossed another bridge this time doing 65 mph and the front end began to vibrate again but stopped much quicker than before once i decreased to 45mph. This issue is rampant on the vehicle reporting websites and will eventually get someone killed. I pray ford decides to finally investigate and offer some factual evidence and a permanent solution to the problem so many drivers are experience with these trucks.i love my ford truck but not at the cost of losing my life or cause injury to someone else.

I have an '06 ford f-250. Everytime i hit a bump in the road or freeway the front end does what's known as the "death shake" according to research on the internet. Many of people are complaining of the same experience the more i did research on this matter. Mine along with everyone else has to slow down almost to a stop for the front end to stop shaking or it will send you into the oncoming lane and all have had very closecalls. Ford dealer ships to my knowledge according to my local dealer ship (sunland ford) in victorville doesn't know the fix. They told me it was my steering dampener. Nope!! people are going to their dealerships multiple times. I paid well over $30,000 for my truck and this is very unacceptable. Thanks for your time and attention to this matter.

During highway driving speeds when a seam in highway or bridge stakes right tire then left, steering wheel oscillation causes temporary loss of control of vehicle. At normal highway speeds 60-70 mph the vehicle drifts out of lane and to correct applying the brakes to below 50 mph is required. All of these actions cause safety issues in heavy traffic. Repairs were made on 5/11/06 with ford tsb 5-22-1 completed. Recurrence of original symptoms returned following week on 8 separate occasions during trip to nc and return to upstate ny. All on interstate highways. Vehicle was returned to dealer 6/28/06 and additional repairs were required. Stabilizer was replaced due to leaking fluid showing component had failed under conditions presented to vehicle.

The contact owns a 2006 ford f-250 sd.while driving approximately 70 mph over railroad tracks, the suspension and steering wheel shimmied severely.there were no warning lights illuminated on the instrument panel.the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer, but was not diagnosed by a technician.the vehicle was not repaired.recently, the steering wheel gear box failed.currently, the vehicle is unable to be driven and still has not been repaired.the failure mileage was 70,000 and current mileage was 78,000.

Wheel vibration, steering wheel oscillation after going over rough or uneven surface, causing lack of control and sometimes lane shift, this happens around 50/55 mph and higher and mainly in a slight left hand curve, does not happen all the time. Truck has been seen at dealer from almost new, tried balancing tires quite a few times, change rim, forced balance tires, put steering damper on truck. Damper helped but did not cure the problem, have come close 4 times to losing control of veh and wrecking.

My family and i were traveling down interstate 40 no faster than 65 mph we came over`a bridge and the truck started shaking so violently it took everything my husband had in him to keep the truck from traveling into the median and we were in the slow lane if there had been a vehicle beside us we would have collided the truck shook so hard my door came open if i had not had my seatbelt on i would have been thrown out onto the interstate my husband had to apply the brakes and bring the truck to the side of the road we checked all tires u bolts wheels everything we thought of this was terrifying to my husband me and our three boys i will never have this truck on the interstate again.

We were driving in a parking lot at a slow rate of speed when the steering let loose and we had no control of the truck. The truck crashed into a pole in the lot, and was unable to be moved due to loss of steering. It had to be towed away. Had this been a parking lot with cars and or people there would have been serious consequences. The impact from hitting the pole, caused my wife's neck to snap back and she has some strain in her neck.according to this link ford has been having trouble with their steering and "death bump" actioncausing the trucks to shimmy out of control- we did not have any warning- just complete loss of steering>this needs to be addressed before someone is killed.

I have been having this problem for almost a year now and have read thousands of other complaints that is the same issue. This truck all most killed me again today. It goes into a "death wobble" when you hit a bump if you are over 55mph. If you anrt expecting it to happen and it is the 1st time you experience it you will wreck! i have contacted several dealers and no one seems to know about or heard about it but there is thousands of complaints online and also have received a letter from ford stating to check tire pressures! i have done what they said + had new shocks, had new tires, struts checked, ball joints checked, and rear suspension looked at. Nothing is wrong ...this is clearly a factory problem and it needs to be taken care of before people start dieing from it! is ford going to raise my children when this makes me wreck and die ...no they are not so they need to get this taken care of. Reports say that they have changed the set up on newer heavy duty trucks because of this so why aren't they taking care of the one's they already sold to the public! please help...you can find tons of info if you search " death wobble or death shake!

I own2005 ford f-250 super duty. At speeds over 65mph i get a violent shake in my steering wheel,so bad that i have to pull off the road. I have gone on line and discovered that people all over the country are having this same problem. The sad part is nothing seems to fix the problem. In 2005 models and newer this is a problem because in 2005 ford redesigned the front suspension system .please look into.

I own a 2006 f250 sd with 8000 miles on it and i cant drive it and feel safe anymore.everytime i drive on any uneven pavement over 50 miles per hour the steering wheel is oscillating so badly i have to slam on the brakes to regain control.it is shaking so badly the passenger side door flew open the last time it happened and almost hit a vehicle parked along the roadway.the dealership has no clue what is the problem.i spent over 37000 for this truck and now what.i feel unsafe in it and it is just a matter of time before the thing breaks the way it is shaking.it will probable take me wrecking to get it fixed.

At around 65 mph my 2006 ford f250 has a very horrible shimmy in the front end. This shimmy comes when the vehicle hits a change in the pavement or anything other than a perfect smooth road. This has happened several times.

I own a 2006 f250 diesel truck that shakes violently when you hit even the smallest of potholes.it shakes so violently that you have to come to a complete stop, regain control, and then resume driving.this is especially hazardous on the small county roads we live on, and when you have to come to a complete stop on the freeway.we have tried to get it fixed at the dealership, where they assure us that nothing is wrong with this dangerous death trap.i refuse to allow my husband and my son get into a vehicle that will shake violently out of control into oncoming traffic, into a ditch, or off a bridge.i am ashamed that ford would be aware of this issue, and not recall this problem vehicle as there are many others out there with the same problem.i am furious that i spent $48,000 on a truck that has 26,000 miles on it and has been in the shop 3 times to have the same problem fixed, so it is completely useless to me, not to mention a danger to my family's well being.what is it going to take for ford to admit their trucks are a hazard?how many people are going to have to die or be severely injured before they address this pressing issue???

My 2006 f250 sd front end shakes very bad over pot holes and stops when i get under 20 mph.

I bought my 2006 ford f250, 4x4, crew cab diesel truck in september of 2005. I never had a problem until i reached about 23k miles. I was driving about 45 mph on a two lane highway when i went over some small bumps in the road. The front end started shaking so violently that i had a hard time holding on to the steering wheel. When i came to a stop off the road, i looked for obvious suspension problems but found none. I did some internet searching and found the "death wobble" that is common with this truck. I saw the b.s. About tire pressure but that wasn't it. I took the truck to a front end specialist in business for over 40 years. He said that it was the steering dampener and he had replaced several on the fords. He replaced mine and i haven't had a problem since. Like everyone else, i think this problem is an accident waiting to happen. I would not even drive the truck until the specialist fixed the problem because it scared me so bad. Other than that, i like the truck. Hope it doesn't happen again.

I received a notice from ford motor co. Regarding a shimmy or severe vibration that may occur when my ford f-250 ford truck travels over a bump or dip in the road.this has happened to me.at the time i had no idea what caused it.i was traveling at approx. 65 mph on a highway when i drove trough a dip in the road under an overpass.my truck went in a severe shimmy.i almost lost full control of the truck.had there been a vehicle next to me in the left lane i would not have been able to avoid hitting it.i don't know what the psiof air in my tires were at the time.they were the stock tires that came with the truckoff the lot.i have since changed these tires due to wear.this is a very serious issue and needs to be given a lot of attention.

My f-250 super duty, has a severe front end shimmy at highway speed. My wife and i could have died in one instance,we had to move across two lanes to the shoulder as the truck bounced uncontrollably. I thought the tie rods were going to snap . This did not happen just once, but numerous times. Every time i approach a bridge deck, bump or pot hole i'm afraid the tuck may have a uncontrollable shimmy andlosing control!you never know if the truck will have a slight,or severe shimmy, sometimes there is no shimmy at all. This is a problem that has to be rectified!!! just so you are made aware my tires are fine as is my speed.

Violent shaking "death wobble" on a 2006 ford f-250 super duty 4x4 pickup truck. The truck experiences a violent shaking in the front end at speeds of about 60-65 mph. This happens while accelerating or after hitting a bump in the road. It is almost impossible to control and only stops when speed is reduced. Ford motor company has sent me a letter notifying me of this problem a year ago, but offers no fix for the problem other than a warning to slow the vehicle down. Local ford dealership denied there is a problem and will not fix it.

The contact owns a 2006 ford f-250 sd. The contact was driving 60 mph and drove over a road bump when the entire vehicle shook excessively.the vehicle was taken to the dealer previously who replaced the tires, shocks and other unknown components, but the vehicle continued to shake uncontrollable. The dealer was unable to locate the problem. The manufacturer was notified of the failure who informed the contact to take the vehicle back to the dealer for further testing. The failure mileage was 90,000 and the current mileage was 109,000.

The contact owns a 2006 ford f-250 sd. While driving approximately 30 mph, the contact drove over an uneven road surface and the steering wheel began to shimmy, causing the vehicle to merge into another lane. The failure would recur when attempting a turn and usually when driving between 30-60 mph. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostics. The contact referenced a concurrent investigation of the failure under nhtsa action number: ea08007 (suspension:front) that could possibly have been related to the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 65,000.

I have a 2006 f250 4x4 when at 55 mph or hitting a bump the front end shakes out of control.

Front-end shimmy after crossing uneven or slight rough pavement at highway speed.purchased truck with 6500 miles on the odometer.at this time, shimmy seemed to be induced by rough pavement at speeds from 62 to 75 mph.received a "recall" that stated the problem was with tire pressure.i checked my tires and found my pressure to be 65 psi.as truck mileage has increased, the shimmy now starts at 50 mph on rougher pavement.the front tires are worn excessively on the outside edges but not the inside edges indicating this is not a pressure problem.the sipes on the side of the pirelli scorpions is almost gone indicating over a quarter inched difference in the inside versus the outside edges.the shimmy can be so bad that my arms hurt after it occurs.i will not let my wife drive my truck and have limited my driving to decrease risk.

Steering wheel freezes turning to the right. My wife was going to town and came to a right hand curve and the steering wheel would not turn then popped free. This has happened now when maneuvering to park or just driving down the road at varying speeds. It is at the ford dealer now being repaired. I talked to the mechanic doing the repair work. He asked me what year the truck was and told him it was a 2006 f-250 4x4. He then told me that ford changed the type of steering gear box that they use in 2005 and have had a lot of problems with the sector gear in the steering gear boxes ever since they did that change. I installed a filter on the return line. After driving it a few miles i replaced the filter and dismantled the old filter and found a thick layer of sludge on the magnet part of the filter. This indicated that something was wearing and contaminating the system with metal particles.

Vehicle immediately developed between 30-45 degrees of free play in the steering making it difficult to steer. There was no previous sign of a problem or wear. Truck was diagnosed to have a steering box failure and is being repaired now. Mechanic stated it could have, without warning, failed completely with no steering at all or could have locked. Either symptom is a safety issue. Cost to repair approx. $1100.00..

Loss of control due to front-end shimmy. Violent shaking of steering wheel and shaking of truck. Occurs at 49mph everytime.

The contact owns a 2006 ford f-250 sd with 95,000 miles. The contact stated while driving at highway speeds of 55 mph or faster the vehicle would shake very violently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but they were unable diagnose the failure or repair the problem.

Violent front end shake at almost any speed after hitting pothole or even dips in roads. Worse with speed. Occurs all the time. Dangerous above 45 mph.

The contact owns a 2006 ford f-250 sd. The contact stated that while driving 70 mph over small road bumps, he lost control of the steering. The vehicle began to violently shake until the contact stopped the vehicle. The failure recurred whenever the contact drove over road bumps at highway speeds. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the contact was informed that the failure was a common occurrence.the steering linkages and steering dampener were repaired. The failure recurred once following repairs. The failure mileage was 43,200. Updated 10/13/11 updated 01/12/12

I have a stock 2006 ford f-250 with stock wheels and tires and at stock height. Since i have owned this truck from brand new around 60mph the truck shakes and wobbles violently. And will eventually cause an accident as it has with so many other owners of this model. Please look into this issue.

While driving my 2006 ford f250 super duty approx. 55mph i hit a bumpy part of the road which put the vehicle in an uncontrollable shake. I was able to get the truck stopped without damage but had no control over the vehicle and could only brake. Had i been in a corner i don't think there is any way i could have stayed on the road. I called the ford dealer in davenport iowa and was told it is called the death shake and there was no known cause for it. I will go ahead and take the vehicle in to the dealer but have no confidence in them fixing anything. I received a letter from ford stating low tire pressure could cause this but my tires were fine. There was also a passenger with me who has very scared we were going to wreck.

2006 ford f250 shakes violently when hitting a bump on highway.this is a very dangerous situation.the shaking is so violent that it causes you to temporarily loose control until you get the vehicle stopped.ford is aware of the problem and issued a technical service bulletin.however, it requires several trips to the dealer.after replacing the dampener on the front end it quit.the shaking is starting again after only 10,000 miles.this is dangerous and ford needs to address it.

I recently purchased a used 2006 f-250 super duty p/u.at speed above 55 mph if i hit a bump, the steering wheel will start to oscillated about 4" inches in either direction and will not stop until i slow down.at higher speeds, ie 65-70 mph the front end feels like it's going to fall off when this happens.i have tried using continuous wheel balancers.and was about to replace the tie rod and drag link ends until i looked this issue up and found out that it was a common problem (possible design issue).i have no desire to pay a $1000 on a repair that may not fix the issue.this truck has not been lifted.

2006 ford f250 hd diesel has violent shaking or death wobble after hitting some bump in the road. Took to ford and had it checked, aligned, new tires, and steering damper, isn't any better. I'd like to know what i'm suppose to do, a friend of ours had a wreck and was killed in his truck, which was just like ours?*cw

2006 ford f250 super duty truckafter going over rough area in road, had severe shimmy, shaking& jumping in front end. Truck pulled over center lane in road.

I bought a 2006 ford f-250 superduty 4x4 in 2008 with 11,300 miles. Six months after buying truck, i noticed on the highway at speeds between 60-70 mph if i hit a series of bumps in the road the front end starts to shake violently and must slow down to 35-40 mph to stop the shaking. I still have the truck ford sent me a letter saying there are no issues but to make sure tires are properly inflated and balanced. That does not stop the violent shaking. I have not had it repaired because i have read so many other complaints where they have spent thousands of dollars and still have the issue. I am waiting for ford to recall and correct this problem. I have 32,000 miles on the truck now and i am very careful when driving on the highway.

The contact owns a 2006 ford f-250 sd. The contact stated that the vehicle would violently wobble while driving at highways speeds. The dealer attempted to repair the vehicle, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified, but denied any assistance with repairs. The failure mileage was 37,000 and the current mileage was 47,600.

2006 ford f-250 super duty gas 5.4l v8i was on the highway driving around 70 when i hit a pot hole the steering wheel jerked like normal but then all of a sudden the truck started to shake violently. I started to slow down as fast as possible, i thought i had a flat. I was barely able to get off the road with out causing an accident. I spent about an hour trying to figure out what happened. With nofindings i started to drive home very slowly afraid to go over 50.i typed in google.com ford f250 shaking and was amazed that there was a major problem out there and ford is doing nothing about it. I just called ford motor company and was given a case number. All the dealership blame it on tire pressure. And most of them state that the pressure needs to be greater then listed on the door of the truck. I am truly amazed i was not hurt or even more amazed of the quick thinking of the drivers around me, going from 70 plus to about 30 in a few seconds.from what i am reading the have been articles in a few major magazines and tv shows regarding this issue. I am now going to increase my tire pressure and see if that cures the problem, if not i am going to be forced to buy after market parts to fix the problem, costing $ 1,000min.i don't mind the price for the safety of my wife and passengers. But i would think that ford motor company would stand behind there product.on this day it happened 2 times on a 100 mile trip, i am now deathly afraid to drive it on the highway, or even take a passenger with me,other then that happening at highway speeds, the vehicle handles great and no problems.

2006 ford f-250 experiences a severe vibration between 50 - 65 mph.specifically noticed after hitting a pothole or driving on uneven roads.truck is completely stock and has had shocks/ steering stabilizer / brakes / tires / alignment / (replaced/completed) at a certified ford dealer within the past 2 months.additionally, i had everyball joint, tie rod end, steering component inspected at my cost to investigate the issue.the steering vibration still exists.forums and other sites have started to call this the "death wobble".although it can be escaped by slowing down or accelerating through the vibration, it can easily cause loss of control to the unexpected driver.i have driven ford vehicles (trucks) for the past 20 years and this is the first time i have ventured to file an official complaint.following the service bulletin to adjust tire pressure did not correct the problem.brand new tires and alignment offered a minor reprieve only for me to experience the same issues less than 50 miles later.people who have experienced this issue need to get specific in order to prompt action from either the nhtsa or the ford motor company.i did not experience this issue till approximately 60,000 miles, sometime after a brake change. The subsequent issues lead me to change the aforementioned equipment in order to resolve the issue.to this point, the dealership can find nothing wrong but the issue remains.to reinterate, this truck is stock, no modifications have been made and required maintenance has been conducted by the dealer in every instance.

The contact owns a 2006 ford f-250 diesel sd. The contact stated that while driving approximately 60 mph over a road bump, he momentarily lost control of the vehicle abnormally until the vehicle speeds was slowed. The vehicle was inspected by the dealer who informed the contact that the failure could have been caused by under inflated tires. The vehicle was not repaired. The vin was unavailable. The failure and current mileage was 58,000. Updated 06/16/11 updated 06/27/11

My 2006f-250 will shake so violently when you hit a bump at 30 to 65 mph it rips the steering wheel out of your hands and you have to hit the brakes so hard and come to a stop to get it back in control. Replaced the steering stabilizer had alignment and still does it.

Traveling approx 60 mph, towing a 7,000 lb 30 ft travel trailer.slowed to make an exit and as i started the turn, there wes no power steering assist.manual steering was still working (with extremely high effort).normally, i would expect it to be a pump failure, but the pump was still fine.... The valve in the steering gear box failed.the power steering fluid was severely contaminated with the ground-up remnants of the steering gear internals.making the repair myself, i found it very difficult to get a replacement unit, as all the places i contacted reported "none on the shelf..... We've sold a ton of them."

2006 f250 front end shimmy, wobble. Took to dealer for front end checkup after letter from ford. They said they aired up the tires and it was good to go...? i went 5 mi down the road and same issue happened again. Hit bump in road and then another the truck steering was out of control. I almost hit another car traveling next to me going down the highway. Scared to death..i just purchased this truck in feb 2009 as a ford certified truck.i want to get rid of this truck. I believe it is a lemon. Dealership just said tires were under inflated, at 65lb and aired to 70psi?? did not solve problem.this truck was to pick up my kids from school, and now i don't want to drive them in it and i feel it is not safe. I work for ford and am feeling very discouraged and the help i am receiving? what now, do i keep taking back?

I lost control of my ford f-250 truck going down the road.the front end started a wobble and shake.(death wobble)

Our ford f250 4x4 diesel truck has a steering problem.it's locking up whenturning left to right.wehad 2 occasions where we just missedbeing in an accident.when the steering locks you can not do anything.the vehicle continues in the direction just prior to the lock.the wheel needs to be turned back left to unlock and this is not always possible.we live on a curve road and it's very dangerous.we took it to the dealer in folsom ca, they replaced the steering stabilizer, which did not solve the problem.the vehicle will be towed back the 60 miles today and we will not accept this vehicle.

Steering shakes uncontrollable put on new stabilizer at 31,000 helped a little at 51,000 it is now unsafe to drive. It is now a kamakazi truck ready for its final ride. This truck should not be on the road. It's a 2006 ford f250 sd 4x4.

While driving at road speed of 50 mph or more the steering will shake after hitting a pot hole or rough pavement. The shaking is so bad that i have to put on brakes to regain control of the vehicle. I have had the steering stabilizer replaced by the dealer and i have installed new tires. The shaking has decreased, but still occurs at a lesser intensity.

I have a 2006 ford f250 superduty and when driving over 50mph and i hit a pot hole the front end bounces or shakes horribly.. It has done it numerous times every day driving on the freeway... If you could please check this out im sure all ford owners would.appreciate it.

Death wobble in front end of the truck at 40-45 .the truck has been to the shop 4 times for it.

I have a 2006 f250 diesel, superduty, supercab, long bed, 4x4.on the right rear tire area, the emergency brake line loops down below the undercarriage of the vehicle.on the left side it loops up.on all ford trucks that i have seen, with the exception of the 2006, both sides loop up.this is a 4x4 truck.i believe that it is unsafe to have the emergency brake line loop down, as the lowest point on the vehicle, on a truck that will be used off road.this truck is used on a ranch and for trailering horses, so the possibility of driving over branches and rocks that could catch on the emergency brake line is high.in this downward position, it is likely to break if it hits a rock or branches.i have requested the dealer and ford corporate to fix it, but they have informed me that they cannot modify the vehicle design.i have photos that i can send, but i do not see where to attach on this contact form.i believe that the emergency brake line should be adjusted to loop up to be in a safer position and not be the lowest point, hanging below the undercarriage of the vehicle.

The contact owns a 2006 ford f-250 sd. The contact stated that the cab of the truck did not line up with the bed of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and it was determined that the bed rails for the truck were rusted and started to separate from the frame. The contact spoke with the manufacturer and they were told that the frame was out of warranty. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 82,000. Updated 6/17/15 updated 10/12/2017

Violent shaking of entire vehicle after going over a bump in road at speed of 65 mph.2006 f250 with 32,000 miles on it.this happened twice in one week, on the way to and from vacation.the truck was not heavily loaded, nor was it towing anything.the truck towed a moving trailer once but not at high speed. Is not driven on highways daily. We want to get a camper and tow it with this vehicle, but if we had been towing a camper it would have been a terrible nightmare.

I purchased from ford a brand new f-250 which is experiencing what is commonly referred to as the "death wobble", any internet search will turn up this situation. The truck for safety reasons and fear of death has been parked for 1 year. The truck shakes, wobbles, vibrates, and hops violently at freeway speed with dealerships treating these conditions as mysterious or non-existent!

My 06 ford f -250 experiences what seems to be normal wheel-hop on the highway (between 50-65 mph) but the hop instantly turns into a "hyper-shake" causing complete loss of control with the truck bouncing out of the lane to wherever it wishes to go until the rear brakes manage to slow it down enough to regain control. Thank god it has not killed anyone yet (including me).it could have very easily went head-on if that is where the road was headed.

Truck has a vertical vibration most noticeable between 45-50 mph. Truck also has steering problem at high speeds such as interstate driving. An expansion joint in the highway will just about cause loss of control of the vehicle. Ford denies any problem, yet has issued tsb 07-05-11 to address the concern that a few customers may have. Apparently it is more than a few customers. This truck is dangerous on the interstate.

Front end and steering wheel shutters at highway speeds. Shuttering start for no apparent reason. Vehicle must be brought to a complete stop to regain control.

My 2006 f-250 shakes violently when hitting a pot hole this occurs about once every couple of weeks.i have to come to a complete stop for the vehicle to quit shaking i have almost been rearended several times and i have been in the lane on oncoming traffic with my 2-month old in the vehicle because i can not control the vehicle when this occurs.i have had several close calls and have been extremely lucky the circumstances haven't been different otherwise the situation could of been fatal for my 2-month old, my husband and my self.

I have a 2006 ford f250 which was purchased new. I have made no modifications to this truck since purchasing it on12/07/2006. On three different occassions my truck has begun to shake violently while traveling down i95 south in maryland to visit family. The first two times this happened after making sure i had control of the truck i put it in neatral and shut down the ignition. The violent shaking stopped and all seemed fine. I had it checked after the second time and nothing was found to be wrong. The first time that this all happened there was no bump in the road or anything, the second time i crossed a small bridge/overpass and as i was coming off the violent shaking started and my 5 and 7 year olds thought i was playing, i was scared but held on and told them to do the same. I shut the truck down like the first time and it went away again. Mind you now this is all happening while driving down interstate 95 at about 70 mph, staying with the flow of traffic, i have to loose my power steering and power brakes while the truck is shut down rolling 70 mph. Is this not a safety issue, can anyone say recall before people die. I took the truck to my local ford when i got back to have it checked out. They checked, found nothing and was told to bring it back if it happened again or if i could make it happen. Most recently now it happened again(3rd time) on 8/2/2008, once again on i95. My wife and i were driving as all times before, went over small bridge/overpass and the "death wobble" started again. I kept my foot on the accelerator and both hands on the wheel to see what was going to happen(mechanic and i discussed doing this to see if a code, check engine light or something broke. After about 20-30 seconds of riding this thing out it all stopped and went away as quickly and with out warning like it starts. I am currently trying to get anyone from ford to acknowledge this problem exsists, with little luck.

My ford f-250 superduty diesel occasionally shakes extremely violently with temporary complete loss of vehicle control when driving at higher speeds and crossing uneven obstacles such as bridge gaps and small road deviations. The vehicle feels to shake violently in the front end and inhibits steering. The shake is extremely violent in nature with oscillating large amplitude deflections in each wheel.

Front end bounces violently if you hit as light bump in the freeway.

Since it was brand new, my 2006 ford f250 bounces so severely on the highway at speeds over 55 mph when hitting expansion joints, it has caused loss of control.this only happens on certain sections of highway.no injuries have occured yet as i have learned which parts of the highway to slow down on.but, the vehicle is not safe to drive on strange highways.

Ford f250 2006 violently shakes when it hits a bump at 40+ miles a hour.you have to brake lightly to get it to stop.those in the truck and around the truck are at risk.

Hello; i have a 2006 ford super duty 4x4 diesel. I have low miles 23,000 and no modifications to truck.i have had a few times where the front end will shake after hitting a pot hole or bridge bump. It now did this again on 9/2/2009 and was violent and dangerous, almost lost control.i have searched the internet this morning and its called the 'death wobble' and seems alot of ford super duty's are experiencing this problem. Please advise me what steps to take as i am extremely concerned. Thanks

Upon hitting bumps on roadway i lost complete control of truck for approx 2 tenths of a mile until i slowed down. Front end shook violently somebody is going to die in one of these death traps,i hope its not one of my kids

While driving on the highway at speeds in the 60's i went over the seem of a bridge. The truck vibrated so wildly that i grabbed the wheel with both hands, hit the brakes hardand prayed. Its an awful feeling. I don't let anybody drive this truck on the highway. It has happened to me more times than not.i check the tire pressure regularly. This truck should be re-called. Its a very dangerous situation. It's not a shimmy. Its very violent. If anybody wants proof i will gladly take them for a ride.

2006 f250 fx4 6.0 front end starts to shack when hitting a bump truck is uncontrollable til slowing down to about 30mph.

I have an 06 ford f 250 super duty super cab xlt with an 8 foot bed. I've had issues with extreme highway shaking. When it happens to me i'm usually going over 60 mph, and it happens when i hit a bump in the road, to me it feels like it is coming from the back end of the vehicle, like the wheels are now bouncing instead of rolling, the shaking is extremely violent, and i have to slow down to apx. 40 or less mph to make it go away. Sometimes it would last almost a full 30 seconds, but i never seem to have any steering issues, the vehicle is still in my control, but maybe that's because my instinct is to just go straight and slow down. In any case, i've had 2 people witness this while in the truck with me at different times and both of them turned white with fear, this is not just a little shimmy, like an unbalanced tire or something, it is a major design flaw and ford better do something about it!

2006 f250 front end wobble or extreme vibration after hitting a small pot hole in road. Even 2 or 3 uneven cracks in road will cause truck to jump out of control at speeds over 40 mph?? not happy, i just bought this used and not happy at all. Taking back to dealership to let them look at. Ford certified ??

I own a 2006 f - 250 sd, bought used with < 6k miles. I drive it to haul and tow several items and it has been a good truck. The only major issue is that if i hit a uneven surface, railroad tracks or bumps while traveling at speeds greater than 50 mph, the entire front end feels as if ts about to fall off. It shakes violently and the steering becomes almost impossible. The first time this happen i thought that i had a flat. I stopped the truck asap which was difficult. I got out and noticed nothing visibly wrong. This happened after crossing a rr tracks that is failry smooth, and located on a four lane. Tire pressure is checked often (every couple of weeks) and is inflated to the standard. I now know if i'm to keep this vehicle i must slow down to avoid an incident from occurring. It appears that many complaints have been written but have falling on deaf ears. It will likely take a death for someone to act. Tire pressure is not the issue. A serious and undermined issues remain. I invite you to come and drive the vehicle and go over the same rr crossing i did, then you may understand the concern. A recall has been ordered for less and needs attention now.

Front end wobble at speeds between 40-50 mph after driving over bumps.no repairs help the condition, front end alignment, wheel balancing/totation or new tires.proper tire inflation.ford dealer is aware of conditon and repairs but wont provide any other assistance.

I own a 2006 ford f-250 superduty diesel truck.i have experienced violent front end shaking with temporary complete loss of steering on numerous occasions while driving on interstate within designated speed limits.the event seems to follow driving over uneven road services such as bridge gaps, potholes, road patches, etc.this is of great concern as i often tow a 34 foot fifth wheel camper with trailer weight over 10,000 gvr; thankfully i have yet to experience this loss of control while towing my camper.

Since the purchase of my 2006 ford f 250 i've experienced a violent wheel oscillation when hitting a bump in the roadway, usually at speeds of 50 mph or greater.. The first instance occurred when traveling on a interstate highway and hitting a bump at the expansion joint between the roadway and bridge. After slowing to aprox. 40 mph the event ended. However, i always notice a wheel shimmy even at speed below 50mph .this is a serious matter as loss of control of the vehicle could happen.

Vehicle shakes violently.not much highway driving however once driving over 55mph vehicle shakes violently.have had vehicle checked with various mechanics.

I have a 2006 f250 4x4 when at 55 mph or hitting a bump the front end shakes out of control.

The contact owns a 2006 ford f-250 superduty 4x4.while driving at an unknown speed, the contact drove over a bump and noticed that the vehicle would bounce and veer to the left or right.he took the vehicle to the dealer and they placed a "bottoming out kit" in the vehicle.afterwards, they lowered the air pressure in the tires and advised the contact to keep it at that set pressure.the contact noticed that the vehicle shook violently when driving on turnpikes and highways.he had no control of the vehicle unless he slowed down or stopped the vehicle.the condition worsened as the vehicle became older.the contact scheduled another appointment with the dealer.he had not spoken with the manufacturer.the current mileage was 3,016 and failure mileage was approximately 8,000.updated 03-06-09 the tire had a leak due to a defective valve stem. Updated 03/11/09.

Loss of control due to front-end shimmy. Violent shaking of steering wheel and shaking of truck. Occurs at 49mph everytime.

Traveling approximately 60mph on interstate highway on somewhat undulating concrete surface, vehicle experienced extreme vibrating of suspension such that it felt like the axles were unconnected from the vehicle frame. Steering control became difficult and nearly lost control.

My wife and i were driving my 2006 f-250 super duty on hwy 95 when my truck felt like i was in an earthquake.it was the worst violent shaking i have ever felt in a vehicle.it felt like all four tires exploded.so i fought my steering wheel and brake pedals to slow the truck down to finally skidded off of the side of the road, while cars are going by us 70 plus mile per hour, everything inside the vehicle fell off of the seats the drinks in the cup holders went flying.after seeing that all four tires seemed fineand that we did not hit anything on the road, we were scared to death to drive again.after visited the ford dealership the next day, they are still trying to figure out what is wrong with the vehicle, they said it was the tire balance and pressure, but there is no way this would cause such a violent death shaking experience.after doing my own research, it seems there are thousands of people with the ford super duty that are having this same word for word problem.please help me, before someone is killed by this ford mistake.i am scared to death to drive my brand new vehicle.thank you very much.

Front end vibration while driving around 60mph which turns into a real bad shimmy sometimes. Steering wheel shakes violently. Have received a couple of notices from ford motor co. That tell me they are aware and to just slow down when it happens. This has happened several times since i had the truck since 2011. No specific dates.

While driving and going over a bump between 60 and 70 mph on the highway, the trucks front end starts to violently shake causing the truck to lose control. Note only driving posted speed limit. This has happened on three (3) occasions mostly recently 7/17/16 and 7/19/16 while traveling s/b on interstate 95 and traveling n/b on interstate 95. The defect causes you to drive at reduced speeds on the highway. Have done research and it is a common problem with ford truck with straight front axles. Ford is aware of the problem.

2006 ford f250, shakes violently to the point of losing control if i encounter rough road on the highway. So far problem occurs at speeds over 60mph.

The contact owns a 2006 ford f-250 sd. The contact stated that while driving 55 mph over a road bump, the front end began shaking uncontrollably. The contact had to use effort to regain control of the vehicle and applied the brakes until the vehicle was at a stop. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The contact later received a field action notification from the manufacturer (letter number: 09l02 ) pertaining to a possible 'death wobble' . The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 32,000.

Ford f-250 sd shaking violently after crossing a bridge with uneven surfaces, bumps, pot holes.totally out of control, let off excelerator and it finally stopped.

My 2006f-250 will shake so violently when you hit a bump at 30 to 65 mph it rips the steering wheel out of your hands and you have to hit the brakes so hard and come to a stop to get it back in control. Replaced the steering stabilizer had alignment and still does it.

The contact owns a 2006 ford f-250 sd.while driving 70 mph under normal dry conditions, the vehicle hit a pothole and spun out.the contact has spoken to the dealer several times about failure.the dealer inspected the vehicle but was unable to diagnose the failure.the failure and current mileages were 16,000.

Took to dealership at approxiamtely 10,000 miles and they performed tsb's (technical service bulletins).have taken vehicle to 2 different dealership dealers now going on the 8th time for same issue.the truck experiences a dangerous "hyper-shake" at approximately 50-70 mph. The truck shakes violently side to side, and up and down and drifts out of lane and to correctit must apply the brakes.steering of the vehicle is significantly impeded , and shaking continues until truck speed is decreased to approx. 30 mph.i have done all suggestions given to me by the dealerships. Rebalance tires, checked alignment and tire pressure.i am currently taking this vehicle to ford dealership march 23, 2007 for them to try and fix the hyper-shake. This is very dangerous issue and it needs to be corrected. This vehicle is not highway safe.

Front end bounces dangerously when driving over uneven road or potholes. First problem occurred at 1100 miles on 9-15-06 and service dept could find anything wrong. Happened again on the same month still could not find anything. On 10-23-06 took head mechanic from service dept with me on a test drive and the problem happened 3 times mechanic could not pin point problem. On 12-11-06 they loosened and retorqued all fasteners still not fixed. They have replaced dampener and steering shock still no fix it. Truck bounces dangerously and goes right or left could cause major accident. Just picked up truck again from dealership they retorqued everything again still not fixed.

Vehicle shakes uncontrollably after hitting a bump in the road at highway speeds of 60 to 75 mph.vehicle must be brought to a complete stop to regain control, then rides smoothly.vehicle was taken to the dealership to fix the problem, dealer stated that the problem did not occur during a road test of 22 miles. The service advisor states that nothing is wrong with the vehicle. This is the fourth time this problem has happened in 35000 miles.dealer refused to test drive in a specific area were the problem has occurred multiple times.the truck is unsafe for interstate driving.

Truck shakes violently when hit rough spots on highway (over 60mph).occurs on bridges, potholes, rough areas, etc. Shaking is so violent vehicle is almost impossible to control and must slow down to 40 mph in order for shaking to stop.

I have three 2006 ford f-250 super duty's that experience the same problem. These trucks experience a dangerous "hyper-shake" at approx. 50-65 mph.truck shakes violently side to side and up and down, steering is greatly impeded, and shaking continues until truck speed is down to 40-45 mph.i have re-balanced tires, checked alignment, replaced steering dampeners but problem persists.

The contact owns a 2006 ford f-250 superduty.the contact stated that the tie rods, bushings, and ball joints were wearing out.ford motor company sent him a letter stating that it was not a recall notice.instead, the letter stated that once the vehicle drives over a bump in the road, it will shimmy uncontrollably.the vehicle must be stopped in the middle of the road for the failure to cease.the contact had to repair the front end of the vehicle on his own, which was very expensive.there was no recall for this failure.the failure mileage was 78,000.

Ihave a 2006 ford f250 2 wheel drive truck with 41,500 miles on it.while on a trip, the left front wheel bearings seized up requiring it to be towed to a repair facility.the inner race of the bearing was galled (welded) onto the spindle requiring not only replacement of the bearings but replacement of the spindle.the right front wheel bearings were also checked for damage and found to be also defective and were replaced. Normally, front bearings last in excess of 100,000 miles without service.if i were to keep driving on the seized bearing, i could have lost control of the vehicle and possibly killed someone.ford has issued a service bulletin #06129 and nhtsa #10020174 which covers "noisy" front wheel bearings.the fix is to replace the bearings and install moisture and dust shields which do not come with a new vehicle at the customer expense.the reason why the bearings failed is because water intrudes into the bearing area and washes away or dilutes the grease. I believe that this should be a safety recall since failure could result in injury or death.ford should pay for any repairs whether ford did them or not.they are refusing to pay for my repair since it was not done at a ford dealership.

Driving on a county road, there was a section of smoothed pavement that had been repaired, slight bump in road.when the truck went over it, the entire truck began shaking, the front wheels violently shook out of control.it did not minimize at all until i was able to slow the truck down to about 10mph and it went away.it was enough to scare my child in the back seat and myself.there have been several instances of this since i purchased this truck, this being the worst.i would be very afraid of an accident if this had happened to this degree out on a highway at highway speeds.i had been to the dealer after the first couple times it happened, they blamed the tire pressure and acted like they had not heard of this prior.the vehicle was just at the dealer a few weeks ago for service where they set the tire pressures themselves.

With only 35,000 miles on it, my 2006 f-250 sd diesel truck has developed a frightening bouncing in the front end. Once it happened going 65 mph when i hit a freeway pot hole. The front tire bounced up and down so severely, that i pulled off onto the shoulder to see if something had come unbolted.i have experienced the same bouncing at 40 and 50 mph from hitting pot holes. Ford even sent me an advisory on this problem, claiming that it was related to incorrect tire pressure. I have been fanatic about tire pressure, so that was not involved. The dealer found nothing wrong with the truck and claimed that a $375 steering stabilizer kit would correct the problem. Why should i pay for correcting ford's design problems? i am just concerned that the bouncing could cause me to lose control of the vehicle.

I currently drive 84 toyota pickup because i am terrified to drive my 06 f250 4x4 sd.if you are driving above 60 mph and hit the smallest bump in the road, it will begin to shake so hard it will cause you to change lanes and you cannot control the vehicle until you stop hard with the brakes.my family is not allowed to ride in this vehicle no matter what.the dealer states that it is the dampener and tire pressure.obviously they don't understand what violent shaking is...it is not the dampener and tire pressure....the truck will literally bounce out of its lane or off the road.if ford does not resolve this problem, i am sure that many people will die while driving these.i bought this truck brand new and refuse to drive it......guess you got your money though, didn't you ford.

High speed wobble.

2006 ford f250 front end shake out of controlhas nothing to do with tire pressure. Who is paying you off to make up this stuff. This is a very dangerous defect that you and ford need to do something about.

Violent front end shake after hitting small pot holes or bumps at any speed, complete loss of control of truck until coming to stop.

This is a suspension problem that i noticed about 9 months after i bought the veh., (2006 ford f-250sd). The problem is in the suspension.it seems to only happen when you go over an area of the road that is rough. It has gotten progressively worse. I was driving at 60 mph and went overa bumpy area on the highway and i almost lost control of the truck. It pulled hard to the left and began shaking heavily. If i had not been holding the wheel firmly i would have crossed the double yellow line into oncoming traffic. I found a site where there were11 other complaints on this same veh. And the same problem. I have owned f250's including my last that was a 2002 and i never had a problem like this. Its apparent that there is something wrong with the suspension system they used. If someone is driving that hasn't experienced it they may loose complete control of the vehicle and cause a fatality. I am going to take it to a ford dealer to look at, but from what i read of the other complaints some people have been in 3-4 times and still have the same problem.

When i hit a bump in the road my 2006 f250 4x4 starts shaking like a tire is falling off. I replaced the steering stabilizer and shocks which fixed it for 20, 000 miles but now it is back to shaking. It is to the point that i have to borrow my dads truck if i need one to haul because i am afraid that my truck is going to go off the road or in another lane.it just sits because i don't want to kill myself or someone else and i don't want to sell it like it is.

While traveling at speeds between 40 - 70 mph on highway or city streets vehicle front end begins to shake violently and nearly looses control of steering system.mishap occurs when vehicle drives on uneven pavement surfaces or when it strikes road potholes (small and large).when traveling on a busy interstate in orlando, fl this violent action nearly caused me to lose control of the vehicle on several occasions.many internet ford f250 forums are currently discussing the same issue and it appears ford is only offering minor "band-aid" type repairs that only correct the problem temporarily.problem seems to be a design / engineering issue.

When traveling over mildly rough roads at speed (45 and above)the truck starts shaking and the steering wheel oscillates to the point where it is hard to hold on to it. The only way to stop the shaking is to steer to the left or right abruptly or slow to 30 mph or less.

I have a 2006 f250 that the front end shakes violently after hitting a hole or small bump in the road at 55 to 60 mph, then you must use both hands to control vehicle and slow down to under 40 mph or less to regain control. This is an accident waiting to happen. I am a large man 6'2" 240lbs and my fear is that my wife or someone of a smaller stature be driving when this happens and results in a fatality. This has happened several times throughout a six month period i owned the truck and is continually getting worse , by that i mean every day this past week.

My '06 ford f-250 has a design flaw that causes it to shake violently at speed and requires to almost stop to correct. Very unsafe and now about useless to drive. Are there similar complaints and what can be done to fix this problem? thanks, dante

At highway speeds 50-70mph driving over a pothole or bridge expansion joint. Usually if the right front tire hits first it sends the truck into an extremely violent shaking with loss of steering control. The tires start bouncing so hard that they leave the pavement. It will yank the steering wheel out of your hand if you are not paying attention. The only way to regain control is to brake hard down to about 30mph. This is ridiculously dangerous in so many ways. I can not believe there is not a recall on this. With a little research on the internet you will find there are numerous similar complaints about the front end of the 2006 ford f250 i have the proper tires with proper inflation i had a new steering gear box put on with a new power steering unit the problem is becoming more frequent i just got back from a 300 mile trip this happened 8-10 times and if traffic patterns were any different this potential recall would have killed my whole family and somebody else's! p.s. There are numerous people out there who have spent thousands of dollars trying to fix this engineering flaw without any success.

I purchased a 2006 ford f250 extended cab diesel truck approximately eighteen months ago.i had the truck inspected by the local ford dealership and was told that the truck would qualify as a certified pre owned vehicle.i also purchased the premier level extended warranty offered by ford.shortly after my purchase i noticed a significant from went shimmy that was felt in the steering wheel.ford dealership replaced track bar.truck was aligned and tires rotated.since that time i have experienced what can only be described as a violent front end wobble that is precipitated by running over any significant road imperfection at any speed between 35 and 45 mph.the wobble becomes so severe that controlling the vehicle becomes nearly impossible unless the speed is reduced to approximately 25mph, at which time the wobble stops.i have experienced this on at least ten different occasions and i am certain that if my wife or teenage daughter had been driving the truck they would have been involved in a serious collision.i am in receipt of aletter from ford motor co. Advising me of other complaints relative to this wobble and advising me that i should scrupulously monitor my tire pressure.i have done as ford recommended, but despite this i have continued to experience the wobble.i have researched this problem on the internet and found numerous other consumers complaining of the same issue.currently my truck is scheduled to return to the dealership in a few days and the service writer advises me that i may be eligible for a modified steering dampener that is the recommended factory repair and may correct the problem.

I am the original owner of a 2006 ford f250 pickup.i purchased the vehicle new in 2006.at approximately the 30,000 mile mark the truck started to experience a severe shimmy after driving over a bump.this would occur rather randomly and apparently under only the perfect "bump oscillation."once the shimmy started the it would get worse until the vehicle was nearly stopped.very dangerous and unnerving.since it was random and intermittent and i was very busy i put off taking the vehicle into the dealer until several thousand miles had passed and the shimmy episodes grew more frequent.as a former mechanic (current occupation is engineer), i stayed on top of maintenance and tire pressures.at approximately 37,000 miles i took the vehicle into the local ford dealership where i purchased it for evaluation and repair of the shimmy.even though the vehicle was barely out of warranty the dealer charged me approximately $1000 to fix it.the repairs appeared to correct the shimmy as it has no done so in the 10,000 miles since the repairs.on 4-22-09 i receive a letter from ford motor company stating that fomoco and nhtsa are studying this condition.since i had a direct experience with the situation and have valuable insight to how vehicle operate i thought i would pass along my experience.ford did not care to hear about it as they were worried about me asking for my repair money to be returned.so now i am contacting your agency.it is very clear to me that this is not a tire inflation or a suspension modification caused issue as the letter eluded to since my truck has zero modifications, was on the original tires when it shimmied, was repaired and ceased shimmying on the original tires, and has subsequently had 4 new tires installed and does not shimmy.the problem is in the front suspension geometry.this is a very dangerous condition and needs to be addressed with more than a letter of notification to check inflation pressure.please contact me.

I have a 2006 f250 superduty xlt, the vehicle violently shakes in the front end when i hit a small bump at highway speeds, anything over 50 mph,so bad that i think my doors are going to pop open. I do lose brief control, and let off the accelerator to gain control without braking. I have received a letter from ford regarding this issue stating to check tire pressure. I have complied with this but still is a factor regardless. I do not have the extra money to do any expensive upgrades or repairs. This is a ford issue! they need to fix this problem before it kills many people. This started when the truck was fairly new and it only has 38,000 miles now. This is a problem all over the us that needs to be addressed! i can't give a date because it happens all the time!

At approximately 40k on the vehicle, a problem began to occur when a bump in the road was hit, resulting in the front wheels shimmying left to right for about a second.over the next four months, the problem intensified, leading to a severe shake emitting from the front left wheel.ford recommended an alignment and the steering dampener (which was already installed). I replaced the tires, dampener, track bar and bushing, which solved the issue for several weeks, but soon found that i corrected a symptom and not the true problem.about this time i found out about your investigation and decided to deal with the problem, since no one could diagnose the issue in the shop....hoping your investigation would provide a fix.on january 15th, 2008 i experienced an encounter where the shake occurred and hit black ice, resulting in loss of control, spinning and landing in a ditch, causing body damage.the only way to stop the shaking is to almost completely stop or over correct the steering (if there is room to do it).since there was no other vehicle involved the state trooper didn't make a report of the incident.the problem still has not been corrected.

The contact owns a 2006 ford f250 superduty. While driving at approximately 60 mph the contact hit a bump on the road and the vehicle started to shake violently. She was able to bring it back under control move over on the side of the road turned the vehicle off. She drove the vehicle home at a low speed she took the vehicle to the dealer. The diagnostic test located that the stabilizer bracket was broken. The dealer will replace the stabilizer bracket in order to be able to test drive the vehicle to recreate the failure.she will contact the manufacturer. The failure and the current mileage was 33,481. Updated 03/10/10 updated 05/20/10.

While driving home from work, i hit a small bump in the freeway at 65mph and nearly lost control of my 2006 f-250. The vehicle began to shake uncontrollably and violently. I tried to regain controlof my direction which only happened after i got below 15 mph. After pulling off the highway, i got out to check which tire had blown and to my surprise all were fine. If i hadn't have been in the far right hand lane of the freeway, i would have caused an accident and hurt either myself or someone else. This was not a typical vehicle response and was very literally a violent wheel hop or front end suspension malfunction. I consider this to be a serious and dangerous issue for f-250 owners and all who travel around them. Ford needs to re-call these front end defects before someone gets killed. After a thorough search of the internet, i discovered a mountain of other f-250 owners who were and are experiencing the same problem with similar results, most claiming the same thing, these vehicles have a major league problem with the front end suspension which will undoubtedly cost someone their life someday. What is the nhtsa doing to bring ford to the table and get this fixed? it's time.

Massive vibration or oscillation in the front end upon front wheel impact with a small bump at high and low speeds, truck is inoperable until i slow down or stop to gain control of the truck. One of the scariest things i have experienced in a vehicle. The problem is so predictable that i can make the situation occur when i want. I sent the truck to the dealer to be fixed and they returned it saying the problem was corrected, slowly this problem is creeping back again. The same problem is occurring again with greater severity each time.

2006 f-250 super duty crew cab short bed with 5.4l front end has a bad vibration/rattle when speed exceeds 60 mph. I drive 15 minutes to work each day on the highway and during my travels i bet whether or not the rattle and vibration will show up while en route. I notice the rattle even at low speeds in town especially on patched roads or pot hole type dips. At high speeds the vibration may last for 5 miles or more or it may clear up in a few hundred feet depending on how the next bump in the road strikes the front tires. I share the sentiment of other that have reported this problem that is an issue if you cannot maintain the minimum highway speed safely in your vehicle. Ford needs to investigate the issue. Whether its bad harmonics with certain shock absorbers, to hard of tires, front hub assembly bearing issues, toe and camber adjustments getting messed up, etc. There has got to be a component or set of related items causing what we all are experiencing.

Violent front end shake at almost any speed after hitting pothole or even dips in roads. Worse with speed. Occurs all the time. Dangerous above 45 mph.

I drive a 2006 f250. When at highway speed and you hit a pot hole or bridge where the highway changes to the bridge and back to blacktop, the front wheel shakes so badly it almost jerks the steering wheel out of your hand. Ford says they have no idea what is causing this, and have not heard of it. I have had it checked out several times with no problem being found. This is going to cause a very bad accident if it hasn't already.

While driving my 2006 f250 super duty truck on the highway i have experiencedthe "death shake" i could not steer the truck or stop immediately the truck,it veered into the next lane thank god there was no cars there. This scared me my two children and my father in-law i don't know what would have happened if we were on a road with no guard rails. We could have easily all been killed, this truck has 40,000 adult driven miles no lift no big tires no off use. This needs to be addressed by ford and be put in the media before some one is killed.

Days after purchasing a used 2006 ford f250 4x4 diesel truck, i experienced a violent shaking/vibration while driving on an interstate in orlando, florida.i was traveling at approximately 65 mph when i drove over a segment of uneven pavement.the front end of the truck began to shake so violently that i had to quickly reduce speed on the far left (fast) lane of the interstate.a concrete barrier to my immediate left did not allow me to pull to the shoulder.several vehicles traveling immediately behind me were forced to quickly change lanes so as to avoid a rear end collision.as i slowed to about 35 mph the shaking stopped.the same situation occurred days later when traveling on a city road at approx. 35-40 mph.dealership instructed me to check psi in tires.psi was too low & i inflated tires to psi as per vehicle tag on inside of driver door panel.violent vibration occurred a third time within days of properly inflating tires.am currently out of the country for work; will follow up with dealership upon return in approx. 2 weeks.

I was driving on the freeway at around 65 mph, and i hit a pothole.after hitting the pothole (rather small), the front end of the vehicle began to shake violently out of control and did not stop until i was able to pull over to the side of the freeway and stop the vehicle.this has happened a total of 3 times so far.it has occurred at 11,000; 14,000; and 17,000 miles. Checked tire pressure and balance personally and everything was fine.called to ask dealership about problem, they said to make an appointment to bring it in, have not done so yet.

Severe shaking and vibration after hitting rough pavement, bridge transition, pothole.have to slow down to below 40 mph to get it to stop.almost vibrated into next lane hitting other vehicle on interstate.very dangerous.has happened over 25 times in past year or so.

I own a 2006 f-250 sd. The truck was bought used, also has pro comp suspension lift and oversized tires.driving at 45 50 mph if you hit any kind of irregularities on theroad surface and the truck starts shaking violently to the point of loss of control until truck is almost stopped. I'm sure ford will blame this on my suspension lift / tires. Only problem with that is its happening to stock trucks at an alarming rate from what i've read here and elsewhere. This will cause injury or death if it hasn't already. Ford knows about this ie the tire pressure letter( not the problem ). This must be addressed now. Soon will be to late. Thank you for your time.

My 2006 ford f250sd goes into a violent shake when you hit a bump when traveling at speeds of 60 mph. It feels like the front end is going to fall off.

Speed about 65 to 70 mph, traveling down an interstate.came to a bridge joint on road and truck felt as if i lost front tire or something.slowed down and parked truck on side of road.everything appeared fine after inspection.continued trip with no further problems, i just kept it at 55 the rest of trip.no mods to the truck, all factory.

Death wobble in front end of the truck at 40-45 .the truck has been to the shop 4 times for it.

My 2006 f250 sd front end shakes very bad over pot holes and stops when i get under 20 mph.

When traveling at highway speeds the front end shimmies violently when a bump or irregularity is hit in the road. The vehicle almost has to come to a stop before the shimmy will go away. Tire pressure is at max inflation. The problem is an almost daily occurrence. New steering damper, alignment, tire rotation, shocks, and track bar ball joint have no effect on the problem.

On my 2006 ford f250 sd diesel i experience violent oscillations of the steering wheel when going over rr tracks or bumps in the road, leading to a near lost of control of the vehicle.as a result of this the front tires are flat spotted, and unevenly worn.ford claims the problem is related to low tire pressure, but my tire pressure was at the mfg recommendation.i have read numerous reports that a steering dampener is required and not installed on the ford sd trucks.

When hitting an expansion joint on the highway the front end will shake violently and the truck will jump uncontrollably into other lane.very unsafe.

Front end wobble and shimmy, really scary.

Dt*:the contact stated that while driving 65 mph, the vehicle started to shake uncontrollably.the shaking was centered in the steering column. The shaking caused a loss of control of the vehicle, nearly causing a collision.the vehicle was taken to a service dealer, where the wheel bearing was changed.the repair, however, did not fix the problem.

Was traveling on the expressway at approx. 70 mph and went over an uneven spot in the road. The truck went completely out of control and began hopping up and down and back and forth. It was all i could do to keep my hands on the steering wheel until i could break to about 30 mph and pull to the side of the road. Friends in the car in back of me said my tires were leaving the road and they had never seen anything like that in their life. This has happened before but not to this extent. I looked up the problem and have found that it is not an isolated case and now am very weary of driving this truck. I will take this truck to the dealer and see what they can do but i feel ford should pick up the bill on my $40,000 truck.

Extremely violent shaking, loss of control of vehicle on highway at 60 mph after hitting successive pot holes. Shaking so severe it caused the drivers door to open. Has happenedfew times since no at severe.

1. I own a 2006 ford f250 super duty truck and when i hit the smallest pot hole or bump in the road my tuck shakes violently to the point of losing control. The only way to stop the violent shaking is to come to a complete stop. This has happened to me (6) times over the last month. I drive 80 mile round trip to work on the interstate every day. I am scared to drive this truck anymore in fear of killing myself or another vehicle on the road when this problem occurs. I have done a lot of research on the internet and this appears to be a very well know issue. I will be contacting ford today and see if they have any fixes. Based on my research ford seems to blow off this issue and has not came up with a fix. This is a very dangerous problem and may end up killing someone before they (ford) takes is seriously.

I have a 2006 ford f-250 with the 5.4l gas motor. Since new it has not handled very well and seemed to shake back and forth rather than up and down on bumps. Now when a bump or pot hole is hit the truck shakes extremely violent left and right so much so it spilt my coffee and all change from my ash tray. I have about 50,000 miles on the truck now and at about 40,000 it did it for the first time while i was on the high speed lane going about 70 mph in high speed traffic. The truck would not stop its violent shake until i reached 15 mph, it was a miracle that the person behind me did not hit me then it happened again that same day about ten miles down the road and once more on my way home.since that day it has happened to me 3 separate times. I am now afraid to drive me $30,000 truck any where but around town.i have kept up on all maintains on the vehicle and take good care of it.now i feel like i need to get rid of it because i am afraid to go anywhere with it.this shaking is a very violent shake through out the entire truck, if i was holding my coffee that morning i know i would have crashed.ford needs to remedy this issue as looking through the truck forums i am not even close to the only one with the problem.there is an issue here and it is just a matter of time until some one gets killed due to it if some one has not been killed already.

My 17 yr old son has an '06 ford f-250 sd cc lariat 4x4 truck, which i purchased 12/09. He began complaining about this front end "death wobble" everyone else is complaining about. A mechanic replaced the bushings in the front to resolve the problem, which cost $210.but it didn't fix the problem, my son complained again a week later and his new tires purchased fall 2010 were basically bare.so i drove the truck through downtown atlanta on i-85, when i hit a bump in the hov lane at 58 mph in a curve. The front end began shaking so violently i could barely maintain my lane and had cars beside, front & rear of me. This wobble caused a huge cup of change in the dash cupholder to spew like a busted water pipe. We just put new bf goodrich tires on, but i'm concerned these won't last a year either.how can it be fixed?i'm very worried for my son's safety.this is a lawsuit waiting to happen for ford, and this particular website has a blethera of complaints about the same death wobble.

I have a 2006 ford f250 crew cab diesel 4x4 truck that has what is called the "death wobble" were the front end shakes uncontrollably at about 55-65 mph after passing over an uneven patch of road or a bump.i must slow down to 35-40 mph to make it stop.i have 75000 miles on the truck and it started about 15000 miles ago.i have replaced the steering stabilizer shock and the pitman arm with no relief. I do not have the old parts.

While driving on a highway at approximately 60 mph, i hit a some minor road repair patchwork and the steering wheel and front end began to shake violently, nearly causing me to lose control. It seemed that the front end was falling apart, and i was sure i was going to crash. Only by decelerating to about 30 mph did the shaking stop.this has also happened at slower speeds on local roads, but the shaking is less severe. My mechanic found nothing wrong upon inspection, but he replaced the steering damper according to ford tsb 07-10-10. I have since traveled local roads and the problem still seems to exist. I have discovered numerous similar complaints on an internet chat room and i am afraid to travel highways with this vehicle.

06 ford f-250 sd front suspension shimmy. Tire pressure checked often shimmy still persists. No bump or dip needed seems as though most times in a slight turn traveling at 40 to 60 mph shimmy is there. I've tried dual shock steering stabilizers installed new casters replaced shocks and coils nothing seems to work.

Severe front end shimmy when hitting pothole or rough road surface.especially at highway speeds and going over interstate bridges. Have come very close to hitting other vehicles when this happens. Has happened over 20 times. Ford dealer said to check tire pressure.that did not help.also said to slowly apply pressure to brakes and slow down.

The complaint i have is regarding the f-250 shimmy.i have battled this for 2 years.the violent rattle of the truck is going to get myself or someone hurt if not corrected.i would invite any doubters to drive my truck.at speeds of 65-70 mph, you have to come to a complete stop in-order for the vibration to stop.on interstate travel, it is not easy to get pulled over with traffic bearing down.the letter ford distributed yesterday is very telling, that they do not know how to fix, or do not want to spend the money for a recall.this violent vibration is a danger, and continues to worsen.particularly with the terrible shape of today's infrastructure.please help ford owners asap.

2006 ford f 250 super duty front end bounces dangerously. August 2007 the truck did this 2 times while traveling on i25 in new mexico. Between 9/21/07 and 9/23/07 this happened 9 times while traveling. The truck bounces out of control and moves across traffic lanes. Endangering everyone's lives traveling on the road. I found over 138 cases of this reported to ford and their response is to bill the customer for a repair that has not worked in almost all of the repairssome people have taken their vehicles to ford several times after the dealer made and then charged them for the tsb repair.ford is accepting no responsibility for this extremely dangerous situation. These vehicles 2005 on are unsafe to drive on the road.

My 2006 f-250 shakes violently when i travel at between 45 and 50 mph. I put on new tires and the same thing is happening. I've taken them to get balanced and it still happens. I took it back to the dealer and they keep telling me it's the tires.

I have owned my 2006 ford sd since december 2008. Shortly after winter during high way driving i experienced violent shaking in the front end after hitting a pot whole. I nearly lost control of the vehicle which could has caused a serious accident. I received a notice from ford explaining that i need to keep the tire pressure at the recommended level or it would cause the shaking. But the air pressure did not correct the problem. I became too afraid to drive this vehicle on any express ways and limited driving it in town and non-expressway roads. After a year and a half this violent shaking, i had to buy another vehicle because i became to afraid this vehicle would cause a serious accident. I still own this vehicle but i only trust it in town driving.

Purchased a 2006 ford f-250 king ranch, 4x4, quad cab, 6.0 diesel, auto trans. A few months ago. Never really drove on highway much until recently, i drive from nj to pittsburgh, pa every weekend (and back). Truck has an out of control front end shimmy...can't drive over 55 mph or, if i do and hit a slight bump in the road, the trucks front end shimmies so bad, i can't see out the rear view mirrors they vibrate so bad from the front end shaking. The steering wheel takes all i have to keep it in my hands. This has got to be fixed, (((now!!))) an accident is definite, especially in the snow months!! damage resulting = no damage....yet!! i have no choice but to drive this truck, i am in the military, serving on active duty and just can't go out and buy another vehicle! ford needs to fix this asap. All toyota had was a bad accelerator and look how quickly they are fixing that!! contact me = y.

I have a stock 2006 ford f-250 with stock wheels and tires and at stock height. Since i have owned this truck from brand new around 60mph the truck shakes and wobbles violently. And will eventually cause an accident as it has with so many other owners of this model. Please look into this issue.

Previously when the truck bed was empty we have had mild episodes of shaking, which would resolve itself without braking. However, today we had an earth-shattering hyper-shake, which we wouldn't subside. We had a small load of fencing in the bed and were rounding a curve on rough pavement (as most roads in nw pa are) at about 50 mph. The shaking in the front end was so bad that the brakes didn't even seem to slow the truck down and we had serious steering control problems. Luckily, there was no oncoming traffic, but the toyota truck which had been tailgating us dropped back about 20 car lengths after our violent shaking and skipping episode of approximately 20 seconds. We have not contacted the dealer or manufacturer yet, because the incident just happened today.however, we have a found a number of similar reports of hyper-shaking on f-250's from web searches.although there was no death or injuries involved in this incident, the potential for both with this vehicle certainly exists.

Every 3000 to 4000 miles the front suspension will begin to rattle and wobble. Local dealer has installed and replaced steering dampener shock on 3 occasions. Service manager stated, more than once, that ford will only let them do so much.

Since new the truck has experienced violent and uncontrollable front suspension shaking/bouncing/wobbling after hitting a sharp bump at highway speeds. Initially, the shaking would only last approximately 3 seconds, but recently the shaking was so severe that i had to slow the vehicle to 30-35 mph before it stopped.the shaking was so violent that i was convinced that something had broken in the front suspension, and i immediately inspected the front suspension at the next exit.nothing obviously broken was evident.i searched the internet and discovered that this is a common and dangerous problem with these trucks. I dropped the truck off at the dealer.they acknowledged their awareness of the problem, but claimed they were unable to duplicate it during their road test.this is not surprising, as it typically only occurs when you hit a sharp bump or series of bumps at highway speeds.they performed some of the repairs/adjustments specified by ford's tsb 07-10-10, but the problem persists.there is a serious and dangerous problem with a large population of ford trucks that must be addressed by fordat this point, i hope that nhtsa can convince ford to correct the problem before someone is needlessly killed.

On 8/3/2009 at 1730 and 2045 hours i was driving my 2006 f250 superduty 4x4 on i-10 eastbound and drove over a bridge/culvert seam in the roadway.the left front wheel and steering wheel shook violently and would not stop shaking until my speed slowed from 70 to 25 mph.it was nearly impossible to brake with constant pressure.i had to feather the brake to slow the vehicle.i inspected the vehicle to the best of my ability and saw nothing obviously wrong.the second incident occurred in the rain in the dark at 70 mph.my wife was driving and was scared to death.both incidents nearly caused accidents with vehicles behind us.i injured my left shoulder on the first one that's why my wife drove back.i returned home at 65-70 mph and had no further incidents.i checked the tire pressure on the 31 inch bfg's and it was accurate and within their specs.

2006 ford 250 super crew, severe front end vibration after hitting small potholes or road transitions at highway speed. Occurs frequently while driving on the interstate and causes the loss of control of the vehicle. I have replaced the front shocks, stabilizer shock, and the coil springs. Ford has issued a letter to owners stating to check the tire pressure and that as long as factory tire sizes are adhered to and proper pressure maintained there is no problem. If this problem is not corrected it will eventually cause deaths. I have the old coil springs if they are needed for the investigation. There are several blog sites on the internet that discuss this issue and many owners are experiencing the same issue with a wide range of year models in question and not limited to the 2006 year.

My 2006 ford f250 hit a pot hold in i-15 near kaysville, southbound on thurs. October 4, 2007.i was traveling at 65 mph in the middle lane when it started shaking violently and all i heard was car tires screeching. I thought i was going to die.i was able to pull the truck to the shoulder and stop.this has not been the first time.this was the eighth time this has happened.then about ten minutes later, almost to work, it did it again on i-80 westbound almost to 5600 west.i have taken it in to two dealers who one, willey ford in bountiful, said there was some loose bolts.the other dealer ed kenley ford in layton, said there was some broken parts on the front end.it has shook a little but now is worse than ever.i am afraid to drive this vehicle any more as it will either kill me or another driver.i sustained a headache and pulled muscle in my neck and a sore back from yesterdays incident.ford needs to pull these vehicles and get them repaired or replaced.

Frequent violent front end shaking when vehicle hot small bumps in the road. 9 out of 10 ford f250 owners we have spoken to have the very same problem and we cannot figure out why this agency has not recalled these trucks.

The contact owns a 2006 ford f-250 super duty. The contactstated there was a failure in the front suspension stabilizer. The dealer replaced the single stabilizer with a dual stabilizer but the vehicle would not pass state inspection. The manufacturer would not provide any assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The current mileage was 98,212 and the failure mileage was 600. Updated 10/27/10. *lj

There exists a factory fault in the ford superduty truck. There is what is called a death wobble that occurs on rougher roads when traveling 60 miles per hour or under. The front end will shake violently and uncontrollably when a bump is hit. I have had it in to ford dealerships 7+ times for this and they will not fix or replace the faulty parts. I have started a web log on aol regarding this and am attaching the link .http://www.topix.net/forum/autos/ford-f-250-super-duty/t0sgdctmobhe5jer1there are over 170 similar complaints regarding the same problem. Ford denies the problem exists. It will kill someone soon, it has almost cased 4 accidents with my truck.

Front wheel bearing assembly on ford 2006 f-250 sd. It has been replaced three time in the last year. Total replace of assembly cost @$1000.00.

I have a 2006 ford f250 4x4 crewcab with a shortbed that had problems with violent front end oscillation. See odi resume investigation ea 08-007. After the last incident on 8/2/2006, i had the vehicle towed to my local ford dealer on 8/5/2006. This was now the second time vehicle was brought into a ford dealership for this problem. The first dealership required that i reproduce this problem for the tech working on the vehicle. I was told everything was fine with the vehicle. This second dealership had my truck until 8/11/2006 and said the problem had been corrected. I was told some metal bushings were replaced in the front end and that chamber or caster was way off. I was also told to make sure and rotate tires at suggested intervals and to keep tires properly inflated. I noticed when i left that the truck had a choppy bounce to the ride and was told that it was from the tire wear. The odometer reading at that time was 22065. After driving the truck for about 3000 miles, i took the truck back to the dealership where i purchased the truck. They road tested the truck, then rebalanced all 4 tires and reindexed the rear tires. These are the tires that were originally on the front and rotated at the second dealership. The vehicle continues to have a choppy bounce ii the ride, which now i was told was normal or acceptable. If the truck would have rode that way when i purchased it, i would have never purchased it. I went from having a smooth riding truck that on occasion had a severe oscillation in the front end at highway speeds 65 and higher, to one that bounces all the time. The bounce in the ride was noticeable to a friend who owns a 2005 f250, that has had none of these problems, although others have with that year also. Turning to ford in this matter has proved pointless in their willingness to admit a problem with this vehicle or their own engineeringflaws. I am currently trying to have an engineer from ford look at this vehicle.

When traveling over mildly rough roads at speed (45 and above)the truck starts shaking and the steering wheel oscillates to the point where it is hard to hold on to it. The only way to stop the shaking is to steer to the left or right abruptly or slow to 30 mph or less.

Like toyota cars, if "winter-styled, rubber floor mat on drivers side becomes unhooked & slides forward, it can lodge the accelerator down causing a high speed.it has happened to me several times, almost causing me to loose control. These are ford factory installed mats i paid extra for at time vehicle was purchased new.occurs when i accelerated hard, such as to pass another car or enter/merge onto an interstate.had to put car in neutral and pull mat back.has happened several times since vehicle was purchased.

The cruise control will not disengage at times when hitting the brake, causing the vehicle to continue to accelerate when a stop or slow down is required.i reported this to the dealer at approx 38,000 miles and was informed it was not are call defect. I know this has been an issue on earlier ford trucks.this is a repetitive issue.

Cruise control will not disengage, truck wants to speed up even with brake on, this is an ongoing problem started in january of 2009.

The contact owns a 2006 ford f250 sd diesel. The contact was braking from approximately 20-30 mph for a traffic stop when the accelerator pedal became stuck in the open throttle position by the floor mat. The vehicle did not stop and proceeded through an intersection as the contact attempted to remove the floor mat while the vehicle was still in motion. The contact was able to dislodge the floor mat, which was trapped under the brake and accelerator pedals, and the vehicle resumed normal operation. The contact stated that he drilled a hole in the clip that held the floor mat in place to correct the failure. The failure did not recur.the vehicle was never taken to the dealer or local mechanic for the failure. The failure mileage was 25,000 and the current mileage was 43,000. Updated 04/07/11*ljthe consumer stated braking was ineffective when the accelerator pedal was stuck under the floor mat. Updated 04/28/11.

2006 ford f250 pickup.on 1/14/07, i noticed that the rubber seal around the windshield was beginning to lift from the vehicle body (near the top of the windshield). I took the vehicle to my dealer who had a windshield professional inspect the rubber. On 1/23/07, i was notified by my dealer that the windshield professional glued down the lifted portion and that if there were any additional problems, it would not be covered by the manufacturer's warranty.nothing has been altered on the vehicle to cause this.it is a manufacturer defect and ford is claiming that it was damaged during usage.through further research, i learned that ford crown victoria's have a similar problem that resulted in a service bulletin.i am demanding that the entire windshield assembly (and seal) be replaced under warranty.

- the contact stated that while driving the2006 ford f250with n8700 failure miles at 30 mph on a moderately snowy dayboth windshield wipers fell off without any warning.the vehicle was taken to a dealer.the windshield wipers were replaced, but the contact was concerned that theproblemmight repeat itself.the current mileage was 9000.updated 04/05/07.

Sept. 2010,my 2006 sd f-250 ford tire,withoem17"alloy 8hole wheel ,exploded violently in my driveway. Discovered inside of rim had cracked and peeled along tire bead allowing tire to blow. Rim and tire had to be replaced, it even blew off the rubber stop block on the frame for axle to hit. Used truck so assumed it was previously damaged. Close inspection showed other wheels were ok.june 2011, shimmy in front end, discovered other front wheel cracked in the same way and close to failure. Local ford dealer says no recalls. E-mail to ford canada got no response. I have pictures of both wheels. This is my follow up. Please check your wheels. For their safety, have your tire dealer inspect wheels when replacing tires.
