Hello,my name is [xxx]. I have a co worker, [xxx], that has experienced an accident in his f-250 ford pick up about a month ago. Basically, it was a accident where he was hit, slid into another car, and then into a ditch. The catch is his air bags never deployed, even though he was traveling at highway speed, totaling his truck in the ditch. Luckily, neither he nor his child were hurt. The catch is he has shared his story and found two others that experienced the same results. I asked him why he didn't get a lawyer on it. His reply was a lawyer told him it would cost him more than he'd ever receive for his time. The lawyer also said that unless someone is killed there is no real recourse. So, he is out the money he has been paying on the truck for the last 1+ year. My real problem is not what he is out of pocket for the vehicle. Rather, why are the bags not deploying. These are safety items that have a premium price attached to them, and something that is touted as making a vehicle safer. The fact that this does not appear to be as isolated as one would think is also disconcerting. Also, why should anyone loose their life due to manufacturing defects. I guess that i just do not see the "big picturecc: ford motor company e-mail[xxx]nhtsa complaint via e-mailinformation redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

A sudden loss of electrical system components while operating on the highway. Abs warning light came on followed dimming of lights and reduction of windshield wiper speed and an increase in rpms not initiated by the operator.

I have a 2005 ford f-250 6.0 diesel purchased in february 2005. Over the last year or so the truck has intermittent loss of power. This mostly occurs during take off from a stop. It has resulted in several near crashes due to faltering in the middle of an intersection. The nhtsa has a recall for this issue (05v270000) which ford acknowledges. Ford however refuses to cover the repairs for this because my vin is outside of the vin specific recall. Even thought this recall effects my vehicle's model year and trouble code.

I was heading down my street in my neighborhood and just before the street bends to the left my truck stalled and i lost my power brakes and power steering.doing the best i could i turned the wheel just enough to avoid the car parked on the side of the street then i proceeded to run through my neighbor's wrought iron gate and plaster coming to rest on the hill in his front yard.after assessing the damage, i tried to start my truck to see if i could move it.it started and i moved it to my driveway.after therepairs were done at the body shop i then took it to my mechanic where he discovered a faulty wire in the wire harness causing the engine to stall without any notice or signs of trouble.later i learned from my insurance company that there was a recall for the 2004-2005 models for the wire harness specifically, that i never received any information on.

The contact owns a 2005 ford f-250 sd. While driving approximately 45 mph, the engine stalled without warning. The vehicle was coasted to the side of the road where starter fluid was dispensed into the engine and vehicle was able to resume normal operation. The failure recurred four times. The contac referenced nhtsa campaign id number 05v270000 (electrical system:wiring) however, the vin was ineligible for repairs under the recall. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was notified and advised the contact that the engineers would investigate the engine stalling malfunction. The approximate failure mileage was 130,000.

The contact owns a 2005 ford f-250 sd. The contact stated that the vehicle would stall without warning. The dealer and manufacturer made the contact aware of the recall associated with nhtsa campaign id number 05v270000 (component: electrical system:wiring), but the vin was not included. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 135,000 and the current mileage was 181,000.

The contact owns a 2005 ford f-250 superduty.while driving 55 mph, the vehicle stalled in the middle of the road and would not restart.the vehicle was towed to the contact's residence.the engine completely shut off, but the batteries and other lights in the vehicle functioned normally.there were no warning indicators illuminated prior to the failure.the vehicle is still at the contact's residence awaiting repair from the dealer.the dealer and manufacturer stated that the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign id number 05v270000 (electrical system:wiring).the failure mileage was 153,000.

The vehicle lost power at approx. 65mphengine went into idle mode without any warning. I was able to avoid other vehicles on the interstate and coasted to a stop . The engine remained in idle mode and when the accelerator was pressed the engine did not increase in rpms. I turned the off the engine and when trying to restart in turned over, but would not fire up. After a couple of tries it finally started and i drove home.the second incident occurred on dec.26th 2011. The truck was driven to the store without any problems after returning and trying to start it up the engine would not fire. Finally after a couple of tries it finally started and i drove approx. Two miles , pulled into the driveway and it went into idle mode again. I turned the engine off but it will now not restart. I will have to get it towed to a repair shop, this could have had very serious consequences . The interstate traffic was lite and i was able to switch lanes even though i was coasting without power with the engine idling. A couple of vehicles had to hit the brakes as i moved over. If i had come to a stop in the middle of the interstate without power it could have easily resulted in a major accident. With the potential loss of life or serious injury.

My 2005 fordf-250 has a problem with the abs system. While driving at highway speed with cruise control on, there is amomentary loss of power, the speedometer and gauges go to 0 and the cruise control is shut down and the abs light comes on.vehicle has been to dealers 5 times for repair.

It took several times before i could crank my truck and once it was started it smoked badly but did eventually clear up.it spit and sputtered on the way to work so i dropped it off at the mechanics shop. The mechanic inspected it and the fuel injector module was bad. I researched the recall list and called the ford dealership in mobile, albased on the recall list to have the problem repaired; gave them my vin and was told that my vehicle was not included in any recalls. The dealership offered to repair the module for $900.00 however the nhtsa id # 05v270000 says there is a recall concerning this issue.

Bought vehicle used in nov,2011. About 4 months later started having problems with engine power. Was told by ford dealership that i bought it from would need to rebuild engine, should be covered under extended warranty (involved egr, gaskets and bent head bolts). Call ford extended warranty people. Refused to pay anything. Now truck has about 96000 miles on it and the truck is stalling out while driving down the road, took back to dealership again, was told that the injectors are the problem now. Decided to check out recalls on this veh. And found out several things (1) that ford had a recall for the injectors and (2) that the problems before were probably caused by this. Called the recall center at ford and was told that vin # did not match up to any recalls, even though it was on 18000005 ford f250sd.was also told to check with extended warranty that is also through ford. Once this is fixed will have more money invested in this and rebuilding engine 6 months ago than the truck is worth. No more fords for us.

When stepping on brakes while directional is on the directionals stop functioning while in motion and turning which is a serious safety hazard im wondering why nhtsa11v352000 is allowing ford to only repair certain vins especially when my year make and model are specified in the summary.with the same exact symptoms???

Failure to start, no warning, no codes , turns over but no further info. Sent to the dealer for eval, fuel injector control module (ficm). Failure , after replacing of the wireless foot assembly pedal 2 weeks ago. Just another ongoing issue related to this 6.0 , whichprior stallswithout warning , refuse to run without mishaps for period of time ford should be responsible to fix or replace this vehicle.

Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6)[xxx]2005 ford f 250 super duty there has been a recall nhtsa recall campaign number: 05v270000 regarding wiring harness according to ford my truck does not meet the recall criteria it misses vin spectrum by a few units and is built inone of the factories involved in the recall (kentucky) however the symptoms: no pick up upon acceleration engine missing out hard starts occasionally . Ft lauderdale maroone ford indicates that the ficm/icm/icp module may be badand it will cost $1800.00 to replace and they are not sure it will resolve the issue as the other results of diagnosis required replacing camshaft sensor positioning switch the injectors have been replaced under recall this all started @ aprox 50,000 mi currently @86,000 mihave contacted ford customerservice they say go to dealer and hev truck run through diagnostics again at a cost of $150.00 to see what out come is still get same answer it is theficm/icm/icp and not covered under any warranty or recall this calls truck to stall and lack of acceleration is extremely dangerous as you have no power to cross intersection and or pull out in traffic with out notice it is a random occurrence and usually happens at the worst time possible i am sure ford is aware of it just refuses to add it into the recall.

Re odi report 10319552: solution finally reached regarding my 2005 f250 super duty and the check engine light along with lack of acceleration . It has been diagnosed as the intake manifold runner control this device is apparently faulty as you research itis common on all ford 5.8l engines but ford refuses to address it after numerous sensor replacements at the advice of ford and quite costly usually $100.00 per sensor and many near misses as for lack of power to engine and unreliability of when it will or wont happen theimrc controls the airflow to your cylinders and upon failure will decide to either stick open or closed depending on its mood thusly causing either a too rich or too lean scenario going un repaired will cause catalytic converter failure alsoat a replacement cost of $1700.00 +/- the imrc only costs around $67.00 but ford wants $500- 600 to replace it as it requires the whole intake manifold to be removed in order to reach the imrc which is mounted directly to the intake manifold on the rear of it and is only accessible this way. With so many failures of this part a recall or at least an extended warranty coverage of item should be made as was done on fuel injectors that were inherently bad also. This is a potential safety issue that can cause an accident if you are not aware of when imrc will act upbe aware it starts as low or no take off power when accelerator is pressed and is intermittent at best along w poor mpg call ford and complain as much as you can and save yourselves bundles of moneythis took me 3 years of dealing with ford and private mechanics to finally resolve this issue and at a costs of about $6000.00 in unnecessary sensor replacements . This is on 5.8l gas fuel injected 3valve engines if you research intake manifold runner control through a search engine you will see the multitude of failures for this part it is not vehicle specific but engine specific. Mileage start was 300000 final diagnosis and repair 98000.

I own on 2005 f-250 superduty diesel 6.0 truck, and i was driving down the road with an approx. Speed of 45, and my vehicle stalls for about 10 seconds, i started to panic and then, it started running again after blowing a big puff of black smoke. I traveled on andeverything seemed to be okay, well i continue on to get on the beltline, approx speed 65, and it did it again, it stalled for about 10 seconds and the started with a big black cloud of smoke., i could have killed someone, i was on the highway with cars all around me and it stalled, i had no where to go. They were slamming on brakes and blowing horns, i could have caused a huge accident.i was so nervous, so i went straight to the ford dealership; the parts department said that there were no recalls on anything. Something is wrong, so i came on home, got online and found that there had been a recall and it is exactly what i have experienced. It could have been devastating. Thank god no one was hurt, this should be address immediately. Please help me notify that this is a safety problem, and they need to let americans know.

I could have been killed. In sept. 2005 i leased a f250 and since it has given me nothing but trouble. Exhaust problems (3 times for that) injector failed, many little bugs that the dealer cant fix. On 6-24-06 on i-94 doing a 65-68 mph, the engine hesitates for a second then suddenly the wheels locked up and i lost control, skidding almost hitting 3 other cars and the wall on the shoulder. Finally after steering to the shoulder - stopped and basically had a panic attack, saw my life flash before my eyes. Sat for a couple minutes then got out to look at the wheels and under the truck for any clues as to what had just happened.i start up and stroll along the shoulder to the nearest exit the tow / haul light is flashing on and off. Drive about 30 mph on a city road with my flashers on.. Not but a 1/8 of a mile it locks up again and then frees up, and rolls. I am now freaking out.and now the engine light is on . Called ford roadsidei am a wreck! i'll never put my 4 month daughter in it. First diagnosis 3 days later after the lock up happened to the mechanic test driving the truck they guess the range sensor in the transmission and two days later called to tell me it was ready. 1 hour later the service tech called ,said we need to keep it longer 2 wks later they diagnose that a main wiring harness was leaning against the exhaust and burned up shorting the computer & told the trans to shift. I told them i do not want the truck. Idon't feel safe and won't risk my life or my family. Ford legal finally contacted the dealership after many contacts to them and upon their decision 3 wks after they towed iti must accept this vehicle, because it is "supposedly" fixed. I feel that ford is not taking this case seriously, and i wont feel safe driving this truck again. My service director among many of the service agents at the dealership as well as the ford factory rep. Say that they would not feel safe driving in this truck if it were their truck, and would not drive it.

Ficm had to be replaced after many repairs to my f250 ford pick up 6.0 diesel nhtsa#05v270000 recall my truck broke down on the freeway i paid $1,115.00 to fix the problem the dealer told me that it was not a warranty problem all though my truck has had this problem for a long time please advise.

My f250 super duty truck stalls while driving, specially after turning corner. All 3times the complete fuel injector assembly was replaced , 5/15/07,12/15/07 & 8/15/07. Had fuel tank cleaned and found rust remains in bottom of fuel tank. The computer and wire harness had to be replaced 12/15/07. Fuel tank rusts from inside and blocks fuel line from fuel tank and water separator and consequently starves injectors from fuel which is why they burn up.see www.forddoctorsdts.com/articles/article-07-07.php. Each time i bring in the truck it costs for a truck with between $1,000-$4,000 with only 110,000 miles on the truck.

Ford f-250 with the 6.0l diesel motor has a recurring issue of a failing egr cooler. The failure of their cooler can result in coolant entering the engine and creating a motor failure. At 99,000 miles i had a egr and oil cooler replaced. At 113,000 miles i have had another failure. The cost to the consumer to repair this problem is at a minimum of $2,500. Ford is aware of this problem (ask any ford service technician) and refuses to provide a permanent resolution.

Losing water and oil from exhaust, white smoke.vehicle losing coolant from exhaust pipe.hard start.acts like high pressure oil, blows lots of white smoke out of exhaust.installed ids/ computer and installed coolant pressure gauge in line on cooling system.monitored ect/eot and coolant pressure..got vehicle to normal operating temp.ect/eot were at 15 degrees difference which is maximum allowance for oil cooler temp.ford recommends it be replaced when it reaches 15 degree difference.also recommend replace egr cooler with oil cooler as a set.perform tsb 09-08-3, test degass bottle-ok.egr test on vehicle passed, installed pressure gauge.road test for head gaskets - 21 psi in cooling system failed.performed turbo over boost - test passed.failed items: head gaskets, oil cooler.when tearing apart need check concern with high pressure oil system.estimate to repair around $7000 which neither ford nor dealer, legacy ford, will cover under warranty.what is the warranty for if not to repair ford's junk?so now an expensive truck sits unusable because of ford and they have lost a long time believer in ford vehicles, this is my last ford.

I have a 2005 ford f-250 super duty i have been having problems with this truck since jan of 2206 i brought it in for an update and it hasn't run right since then. It first started withspeed bucking. So brought it back they said it was fixed on my way home it started again then in has no power than it wont shift .. This has been going on and on .. Then in may of 2007 the motor blew-up after sitting at ford for 9 week i get in back still doing the same thing i called ford customer care and they sent me back to the dealership so i am now here writing you help me please i can afford to trade it in ...

Dt*:the contact stated while checking the oil, water was noticed on the under side of the hood.the dealership repaired the inner cooler.then, after driving the vehicle for another 1500 miles this problem occurred again.the dealership determined the heads or head gasket needs to be replaced, but is uncertain.

While on vacation truck started losing power then started blowing coolant from the exhaust pipe. Called aaa had truck towed to ford dealership where they told me truck had bad egr cooler. Not only that but my truck was 8 months out of warranty. Dealership repaired truck, cost was over $2,500. Not only did i have to travel 2 hours to pick my truck up 3 days later after repair, but found online they are a lot of 6.0 power stroke customers having same issue. I contacted ford with no resolution, even asked the representative if she could look up some of the same websites that i had, she replied no due to restriction at work. I then offered to email the complaints of others to them which i was told no. I was told my name and information would be saved incase there was ever a recall. This is obviously a defect with this engine and needs to be addressed, and customers reimbursed.

Consumer states: reached 3,000 miles and the engine blew, out.engine light came on.but consumer said may be piston. However, cam shaft fuse was bad.

The contact owns a 2005 ford f-250 superduty.while driving approximately 45 mph, thick smoke appeared from the rear exhaust pipe.the vehicle began stalling while en route to an authorized dealer.there were no warning indicators prior to this failure.the vehicle was taken to the authorized dealer.the mechanic replaced the 2, 6, and 8 fuel injector components; however, the failure continued.the vehicle was taken to the dealer two additional times, but the failure was not corrected.the first repair was covered under warranty at the cost of $106.50.thetotal repair cost was $506.70.most recently, the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who stated that the previous failures were related to the egr cooler system.the vehicle has not been repaired.the failure mileage was 95,246 and current mileage was 120,000.

The truck engine died and was unable to be restarted. Was told that the stc fitting on the oil pump had failed and was replaced, when road tested the igr valve failed.had to be rescued by the border patrol.

The contact owns a 2005 ford f250. The contact stated the egr valve coolerruptured and was leaking antifreeze through the exhaust system. The dealer was aware of the failure; however, the ford manufacturer advised them to stop repairing the vehicle. The estimated cost was $2600. There were no valid warranties or recalls. The failure mileage was 51,000.

I have a 2005 ford f-250 super duty which i bought in july of 2005 (own it for 27 months) brand new. Recently (3 months ago) the check engine light came on and i took it to the dealer and they said that they could not find anything wrong and that they reset the computer. At that time my vehicle was under warranty. My check engine light came on again last week and once again i took it in to the dealership. Now the vehicle has 40000 mile and it is past the warranty period (36000). They are now telling me that the engine needs major repair and that it will need $2600 dollars worth of repair and it could be more once they take the engine apart. I called ford customer service to file a complaint since the truck is only two years old and i don't use it for any commercial business. I only use my truck for yard work and a means of transportation. They said that what i need to do is have the dealership take the engine apart (which i would have to pay for) and then they would decide if they could do anything. I said what if the dealership tells me that the truck needs $5000 worth of work who would be responsible for that. They told me that it could be because i did not change the engine oil and they would not cover it in that case. I then told them that some of the things that they want to replace is the alternator, timing belt and timing chain. What does all this have to do with the oil changes. They told me that the only solution is to have the dealer take apart the engine and they would see from there.

Blown spark plug. Trashed head. Truck is undrivable.

5/13/06i came home from about a 75 mile drive, pulling a horse trailer in my 2005 f250 6.0 power stroke.i went in the house and less than 10 minutes later, my girlfriend asked why is your truck steaming?i could tell it was smoke. I was able to get a few items out and noticed the paint bubbling on the hood. I unhooked the trailer and was able to move the truck about 100 feet, less than a minute later the truck was totally engulfed in flames. A total loss. It had less than 8000 miles. I had tools, toolbox, car seat, and over $2800 in tires wheels and lift that were 2 months old.i had full coverage insurance. They offered me $12000 less than a new truck, and that included the rest of my property.today i talked to someone that lives 20 miles from me, they had an 2004 f250 powerstroke. Same thing happened to them 11 months ago, parked the truck a few minutes later it's on fire.thanks ford!

Purchased 2005f250 6.0 diesel new sept. 2004.on july 29,2006, (16,000 miles), truck began to lose power on hills in tow mode (5,500 lbs. Trlr.).the engine rpm increases, the accelerator is almost to the floor, the truck begins to slow down as if there is slipping in the driveline.took it to the first of 2 dealerships who replaced several parts with no improvement.first replaced the electric cooling fan.then the a thermostat.then they replaced the thermostat again (first replacement must have been bad).then they switched computers with an employee's truck and drove it.no change, so they switched them back.then they took the employee's truck and attached my trailer for a test drive.it drove great, no problems at all.then they put the trailer back on my truck and drove it again. The problems were still there.that is when they threw up their hands and said they had no idea what was wrong, but the truck was definitely not performing normally.next i took it to another dealership in a nearby town.they have been trying to isolate the problem for the past 3 weeks with no results to date.they have installed data recorders twice and replaced the engine oil cooler.it did not stop the problem.truck is at dealership this morning. Oct. 2. The loss of power symptoms have occurred approximately 30 to 50 times since it began at the 16000 mile point, on july 29.the truck has been in the shop for diagnosis and repair 14 times.on 2 occasions on the interstate, i barely avoided a catastrophic collision with 18-wheelers because my truck lost power going up a hill and the semi directly behind me kept his power on since i did not show any brake lights when i slowed, he almost took the corner off my trailer.it is dangerous enough on the highways without having to deal with a truck that isn't safe.

2005 ford super duty diesel 6.0was unable to reregister my vehicle with the california department of motor vehicles, unless i returnedmy vehicle to the dealer to have a recall/flash memory re flashed. I had no choice but to do this, otherwise the dmv would not renew by registration. Dealer stated ford truck did not pass california emissions standards.issue. Fuel economy fell drastically, and power/torque not like before "upgrade" mandated to my truck.since that time, the turbo charger has failed, and unit needs to go in for repair.i think with this reflash, i did not get what i paid for with the recall requirement being done.truck does not have the power and torque as advertised since it failed california smog requirements on a vehicle that does not require smog testing.dealer states ford failed "random" emission standards test of a unit picked in the field for testing, and all vehicles in same truck family had to be reflashed if serial number under the one they tested.i asked cal air resources board to look into this, they were interested, but 8 months later still no answer.i did not get what i paid for.

I have a 2005 ford f250, 6.0l diesel. This power plant is used on several ford model vehicles and has an inherent problem with it's egr system. When the egr system fails, the vehicles looses all throttle response. Resend 03/05/10. *ljon november 25th, 2009, i was stop at an intersection waiting to merge onto a very busy highway. When the time came to merge onto the highway, my vehicle fail to accelerate, it crept into the path of on coming traffic and i had to perform an advasive maneuver (immediately pull off the highway) to protect me and others from a potential accident. This situation has happen to me on more then one occasion and is intermittent.when i reported this to my dealership, they performed a procedure to clean out the carbon buildup within the intake system and told me that this was considered routine maintenance, this is not mentioned anywhere in the operators manual. I believe this is a public safety issue that ford should recognize and provide a fix.

Diesel fumes came out of passenger air vents making myself nautious and sick from co2 poisoning.bought it in to the ford dealer and service manager smelled the problem, said that there might be a problem with the y flange on exhaust manifold.called back and pulled manifold and didnt see a problem was going to order a new one.says not an uncommon problem.

I purchased a 2005 ford f250 superduty truck with camper package.i could not locate the camper certificate.i have contacted the selling dealership and ford through their customer service e-mail.i've been told the certificate is not available for my vehicle and i cannot get a copy.i am the original owner.the certificate was not put in my truck or given to me.it is my understanding, manufacturers of trucks that are capable of accommodating slide-in campers manufactured after april 1, 1973, must provide a cargo weight rating and the longitudinal limits within which the center of gravity for the cargo weight rating should be located. The purpose of this section is to provide information that can be used to reduce overloading and improper load distribution in truck-camper combinations, in order to prevent accidents resulting from the adverse effects of these conditions on vehicle steering and braking.nothing has been done to correct this.

The contact owns a 2005 ford f-250 sd.the contact stated while driving approximately 35 mph, the contact noticed that the turning signals, brake lights, reverse lights and tail lights malfunctioned.the failure recurred once and the vehicle was not taken to the dealer for a diagnosis. When stepping on brakes while directional is on the directionals stop functioning while in motion and turning which is a serious safety hazard im wondering why nhtsa11v352000 is allowing ford to only repair certain vins especially when my year make and model are specified in the summary.with the same exact symptoms???

The truck stalled and skipped on the interstate almost causing a collision on i 85. According to the tech the fuel injection control module goes bad in almost every ford f250 6.0 diesel engine when you hit this mileage. Not sure how we continue to give ford a pass on this common issue.

Truck became hard to start then started stalling. Soon after the check engine light came on. Truck was taken to ford dealer where it was computer tested and inspected. The ficm (fuel injector control module) was replaced and reprogrammed the modules at a cost of 1,253.67.

2005 ford f250 superduty, with 6.0l powerstroke diesel engine.owned since new.truck currently has 89,700 miles on original engine.had truck in for service in may 2010.had major engine work done, to include new head gasket, egr cooler, oil/filter change, and fuel filters changed.in early october, began experiencing issue where truck would run very rough for the first mile or first 5 minutes, whichever came first.after this, the engine would run fine, unless it had been sitting and got cold.in november, had vehicle back to dealer asking them to diagnose this problem.they said that per their diagnostic equipment, i had an underperforming fuel pump, and two(2) bad injectors.their recommendation: replace fuel pump and filters, as well as replace all four(4) injectors on the one side where they identified the problem.cost for repairs, in excess of $2100.i declined the repair, and have continued to drive the vehicle, despite rough running first thing in morning.today, after only 13,000 miles, i took the truck to a valvoline shop to have the oil/filter changed, as well as the fuel filters.the technician called me over and showed me that there was a significant number of rusty metal flakes in the main fuel filter removed from the fuel pump.my best guess is that there was at least a full teaspoon full of metal flakes that were visible, and that does not include any sediment that had already escaped the removed filter.i have read in numerous locations, including this site, where ford truck owners, especially those from 2003-2005, are complaining about the gas tanks in these vehicles delaminating and causing aluminum or rusty flakes to be propelled through the fuel system, impeding the fuel flow, and damaging the fuel pump and fuel injectors.this appears to be the case with my vehicle.i do have a photo available, and can provide an affadavit from the folks at valvoline.please assist.

This 2005 ford f250sd i bought 3 years ago has been nothing but trouble. In the first 2 months of owning the vehicle the oil sensor switch went bad leaving me stranded twice. I finally talked ford into replacing the switch since it had only been 2 months from purchase. Then a year later the fuel control module this site says it is a recall for this year but ford says it is not. Cost $1200 now again not even 3 years later the oil switch blew out again. Even though a trained ford mechanic replaced it. It is costing $1500 to have replaced. With all the same complaints with this motor it is a wonder why ford has not made a recall.

My 2005 ford f250 diesel truck started having problems 2 weeks after warranty went out. The stc(snap-to-connect) fitting in the high pressure oil pump(hpop) has went out. In the stc fitting an o-ring blows in all the 2005-2007 vehicles which when engine is warm, it will not start. And must cool down in order to start. Ford knows of the problem and has put together a replacement for $60. The labor is an additional $1740. I cannot afford this, please help me.

This event had no warnings leading up to the failure.this failure occurred once and was debilitating.my 2005 ford f250 (6.0 diesel) suffered a leak in two orings and a crack in an oil line in the high pressure oil system. The result was a vehicle that died and would not start. This vehicle only has 40,000 original miles on it. Online research has revealed that this is a design flaw in the 2004 & 2005 model years. Ford has issued tsb's on the problem however never notified consumers of the defect to forewarn or correct the affected model years. The engine has sensors that shut the engine down and prevent it from starting when oil pressure is lost from such defects. My vehicle was towed to ford, however the warranty had expired in december 2009. I have tried to resolve cost issue with ford to no avail. I feel this defect in design was a known problem and should have been addressed, especially while the vehicle was still under warranty.

My 2005 ford f-250 superduty has had on going problems with the turbo and injection system on the 6.0l diesel. Initially the dealer "cleaned" the injectors, then at approximately 1000 miles after, at 16k miles the ford dealership had to replace the entire turbo unit. I was told i need to drive the truck daily, and drive it hard, essentially "beat on" the truck in order for it to run well. I have started to notice a loss in fuel economy again as well as a decline in power.

Oct. 20, 2009, truck died while pulling 5th wheel up steep mtn. Road to kennedy meadows, ca. Bad situation. After 3 weeks in ford garage, in ridgecrest, ca. Several parts replaced all related to the high pressure oil system used to fire injectors on this 6.0 powerstroke engine. Jan 26, 2010. After pullingthe 5th wheel for about 100 miles through heavy traffic and parking trailer in my driveway, i came back later and truck wouldn't start. Towed to lake elsinore ford and they replace the oil pressure regulator.this is all over the powerstroke sites on the net. My nephew has had the same problems. Ford knows this too.both of these incidents could have resulted in wrecks, there is no warning, the engine just dies.

Fuel pump failure for the 4th time; loose bolts in frame; unable to fuel at normal rate,

Consumer purchased the vehicle, and was driving home after picking itup from the dealership. Consumer experienced a headache from a unfamiliar smell. Then, vehicle stalled in traffic, and had to be taken back to the dealer for the stalling and the smell.......replaced failed injectors.

Fuel injectors.

The contact owns a 2005 ford f-250 sd. The contact stated that while driving approximately 55 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle failed to restart and was towed to an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing on two separate occasions. The mechanic was unable to locate a failure on each visit. The vehicle was also taken to the dealer who discovered that the failure was contributed to the faulty fuel injection control module and fuel pump. The vehicle was repaired. There was a recall under nhtsa campaign number: 05v270000 (electrical system) however, the vin was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 138,576.ma 08/10/15 updated 11/30/2015

The contact owns a 2005 ford f-250 sd. The contact stated that while driving at 50 mph, the vehicle stalled. The contact was able to restart the vehicle. The failure recurred on numerous occasions. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the ficm fuel injection control module (ficm) harness needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was aware of nhtsa campaign number: 05v270000 (electrical system) but the vin was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

Drivers door flew open and would not shut.

My 2005 ford f250 superduty harley davidson vehicle was delivered to me without the mandated latch child restraint system, ford will not correct this, please advise.

My ford f-250 was broken into via the door handles. My truck is a crewcab and the thieves entered from both sides. Law enforcement reports this is one of the easiest vehicles to break into. A criminal can make entry in seconds. I believe a vehicles lock should hold up longer than that. If this vehicle is that easy to get into, how hard would it be for someone to enter a locked vehicle with someone in it? i not only feel that my personal property is not safe, but the people in the vehicle as well. Shouldn't ford make there trucks safer?

About 1700 hrs on 21 nov 05, my 2005 f250 super duty was broken into and i had over $2500 dollars worth of things stolen in 3 items.i had a cell phone, over 226 cd's, and my kids portable dvd player with 2 7" screens stolen.all they did was popped the driver's side door key cylinder, cracked my handle, and dented my door and walked away with the stuff.the insurance is going to replace my key cylinder, handle and fix the dent after i pay my deductible.they are going to give me $250 for the loss of the cd's and that is about all i am getting.my renter's insurance is not going to cover the loss of the dvd player, dvd that was inside, or the cell phone.

Right rear parking brake failed. Rear brake assembly plate corroded through and allowed retaining stud to pull through plate. Parking brake assembly lost integrity causing brake drag and squealing noise. Brake part failed in 65000 miles. Concerned failure could have become catastrophic at freeway speeds if parking brake locked up wheel. Part is available.

Regards 2005 ford f-250 super dutyvin:[xxx]the rear axle back plate / dust shield holds the holding pins for the emergency brake pads rust out around the pins and renders the brakes use less. Which causes the pads to drag on the drum and therefore pour acceleration/ premature damage to pads an drum. I was told by a ford dealer this was a known problem and i would have to pay $300 per plate need 2 so $600 plus four hours in labor. The ford service tenant told me the replacements are in stock and are not known to rust and fail. So i askedothers owners and of course they either had the work down at cost or were waiting to have the funds to do so. When your still making payments and paying other bills it's hard to pay for something that shouldn't need to be done this early in the vehicles life. Now i live new england so yeah there's salt and mud / dirt to factor in but i don't put a boat in the water with it or wait until a rain storm to rinse of the salt and mud. According to season and weather conditions. Now i don't know how many or what year range of vehicles where affected.but a recall would make sense. Of course i find this out after i had to replace the front and rear calipers and rubber hoses at 45000 miles but not the brake shoes they were still good.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

2005 f250 sd diesel 6.0 pick up _ chronic issues with front end shimmy, near uncontrollable at times. Dlr says buy new steering stabilizer, air pressure in tires, etc. Tsb is in place, but dlr states nothing wrong?2 turbochargers, ungodly amount of egr replacement, oil pump issues, oil leaks. Bad engine situation, 5 major warranty claims on issues.vehicle only has 77,000 miles in non-commercial use. Stranded owner numerous times, but ford says nothing is wrong.solution from ford - we will give you a 200,000 mile 7 year warranty at n/c.problem is, most issues relate to california emission failure by ford under certification on emissions, and following recall on computer reset.truck no longer gets 570 foot lbs of torque as advertised, and 2 separate dealers were only able to obtain 510 ft pound of torque, because of recall on emissions violations.request full investigation of emissions violations, mandated by state of california.the consume purchased vehicle base on advertised claims of power, but submitted test data to state of california that failed under cal air res board follow up test.consumers did not get what they paid for.

2005 ford f250 with a cracked transmission. Consumer would like reimbursement for replacing transmission with a rebuilt transmission.the transmission housing cracked and leaked fluid.the transmission had to be replaced at 44,000 miles. The consumer stated ford knew there was a problem with the internal snap ring which caused the transmission case to crack.

The contact owns a 2005 ford f-250 sd. The contact stated that while refueling, the transmission fluid began leaking.the contact drove the vehicle to the dealer where the dealer advised that there was a hole on top of the transmission.the dealer informed the contact that the leak had caused the transmission to malfunction and the transmission would need to be replaced.the vehicle was not repaired.the failure mileage was 105,000.

Severe front end wobble causing engine to fail, all power is lost on the vehicle according to ford ficm harness was bad they replaced it now the abs light indicates a problem with the brakes......no repairs yet vehicle still in shop.

I pulled into my shop and was on cell phone when a person came up yelling (very upset) at me that i almost made them crash, they said that they were following me down the mountain and my truck sprayed them with transmission fluid and he tried to clear his windshield, but the wipers just smeared it, i said i didn't know trans was leaking and said my apologies. I got out and noticed a puddle under my transmission. It looked like my pan gasket was leaking, removed and replaced my pan gasket filled with oil , started truck nothing was leaking then went to go home put it in reverse and left a large streak of oil in front of me, shut down truck trans fluid was just poring out of it, looked like cooler line was spraying and leaking, replaced feral, filled again, ran truck found to be leaking from trans housing. Did research online found that ford was having problems with this transmission 04 thru 06, please see attached links http://www.aboutautomobile.com/complaint/2005/ford/f250/automatic+transmission ,http://www.aboutautomobile.com/complaint/2005/ford/f-250+superduty/automatic+transmission . As you can see this is a problem that ford has issued a service bulletin for but is telling every one that it is not a problem. I called my dealer i brought the vehicle form they told me to contact the factory and they said i an on my own.as the service bulletin stated in the second attachment the transmissions were doing this at 90,000 to 120,000 miles, lol and behold mine went at 116,000. I feel ford is more than aware of the problem andshould be held responsible and a recall should be put in place, this is and ongoing problem which they are denying. God forbid that this should happen on a highway and the transmission locks up, then there will be fatalities involved or maybe this has all ready has happened .

Truck equipped with snow prep package.reverse failed while plowing.transmission needed to be rebuilt for over $2,500, mechanic said the case had a crack in it and the snap ring/reverse planetary failed.research online shows this is a known issue: "customer satisfaction program 05b27".the ford dealer i bought it from closed, i will be contacting ford corporate offices for a resolution.

Cracked transmission case, took into ford dealer for repair, truck is under extended service agreement from dealer we bought it from, with a $100 deductible.extended service co would send out inspector, he inspected it and said ok to fix, the next day he said we would have to pay $600.we finely paid $371.36.he said the dealer we bought the truck from would not honor the $100 deductible.

Transmission upper housing case has developed crack not near bolt flanges but on top of housing..causing fluids to leak on exhaust system...not damage to bottom of housing...no abuse..

2005 ford f-250 transmission circlip is coming off causing transmission to leak and ultimately fail.we know of 6 people that this has happened to, now us.ford had a "customer satisfaction bulletin 05b27" that expired at the end of 2006.we found this on our own.ford is absolutely no help with this issue.please read the diesel forms on the internet.

While towing our horse trailer the engine stopped running. It was towed to dealer and the engine problem was repaired under ford warranty.they told me there was a problem with the transmission.the mechanic said this is a common failure and i should write in.as i understand it, there is a snap ring located in the transmission, for some unknown reason, this snap ring pops off , is then sucked between the top of the transmission case and a gear, which causes the transmission case to crack.the mechanic said the case is cracked on the top.he has seen many of these failures.because i didn't buy the extended warranty, this repair will cost approx $4,500.00. This truck has low mileage (41900 mi).i have been told this has been a common problem of ford trucks from 2002 - 2005.

The contact owns a 2005 ford f250 super duty. While driving at approximately 15 mph, the contact discovered that flames were coming from under the vehicle. The contact was able to extinguish the fire without the assistance of the fire department.the vehicle was then towed to the dealer where the technician stated that the fire began due to transmission fluid leaking onto the engine manifold. The technician stated that the wiring harness and transmission needed to be replaced. The wiring harness was replaced yet the transmission was not. The vehicle was n ot repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.

The contact owns a 2005 ford f250 super duty. The contact stated that his transmission was cracked. While driving 60 mph over a bump, the steering wheel moved from the front to the back as well as to the left and right excessively. The driver is forced to decelerate to 30 mph to control the vehicle. The dealer rotated the tires and adjusted the inflation pressure to correct the malfunction. The contact has to replace the transmission himself since the manufacturer will not pay the repair cost. The failure mileage was 29,000.

2005 f250 diesel. Transmission would shift onto reverse but would back up. Took it to ford they told me reverse snap ring broke and cracked transmission case. 3900 to fix. Ford has a recall on snow plow packages but mine is not just has the exact same transmission.

Nothing has been done to my 2005 f250 superduty, under load it will not shift down automatically without depressing the foot feed. They have tried three times to correct this and know nothing. I am not going to keep it unless it is fixed.we were told ford knows there is a problem with these trucks, but does not know the fix. What am i supposed to do on a $45,000. Vehicle?

Dt:the contact stated there wassevere vibration when using the cruise control. He took the vehicle to the dealer, they reprogrammed a chip, and put three shims in driveshaft. Also, there was severevibration in the acceleration of the vehicle. There has been vibration with the vehicle since purchasing it. The vehicle has been to the dealer many times, but they statedit was normal. The vehicle vibration is more severein lower gears than at higher gears. The vehicle did this from the point of acceleration, there was no for warning.

The contact owns a 2005 ford f-250 superduty.the contact received passenger and driver side seats from an online distributor that are currently separating from the frame.he has made several unsuccessful attempts to contact the distributor.they initially agreed to accept the seats, however, the contact would be responsible for the repair/replacement costs.he has photos and invoices available.the vin, engine size, and failure mileage were unknown.the current mileage is 22,000.

On several occasions, my f250, super duty 6.0 diesel became sluggish and gas mileage suffered immensely. Then, with only 53,000 miles, my left rear disk brake caliper was dragging and started smoking. At my cost and on the left rear, i had ford replace the caliper, pads, brake line and resurface the rotors. Also, the right rear rotor was resurfaced. At 54,000, i make a 100 mile trip and the right rear caliper started dragging. I am not sure how to fix this since no one has the solution.additionally, i do not have the money to replace the entire brake system. However, this could cause total brake failure and a possible fire resulting in fatalities.

I noticed that when i hit a bump the bed of my truck bounces about two inches, when i looked under the truck i noticed all the supports under the bed were completely rotted. I have also had problems with my brakes. In less than 90,000 miles i've replaced three brake calipers, two rotors, two sets of brakes, and the last time i had it serviced the backing plates were so rotted that the emergency brake wouldn't work and couldn't be replaced without also replacing the backing plates. I have been driving for 50 years and have never experienced this much rot. I feel that the structural damage shouldn't happen this soon, and feel that i shouldn't be responsible for the cost to repair it.

This is the third time i have encountered this problem, and reported this problem as well. . brought to ford dealership and told they did not find anything wrong with the vehicle. It continued to happen. I brought the truck to an independent repair shop who knew right away that the calipers were seized.. I paid approximately $1100.00 for that brake job and told that ford would not warranty the parts it was beyond the warranty. I was told there was a re-design of the brake shoes. They replaced one rear rotors, "freed up" one rear caliper. I did advise drivers front was seizing up at one point as well. I was provided the rear rotors and shoes. The shoes were well within usable range which was noted by myself, also a diesel mechanic and a independent auto repair shop. The day i picked up the vehicle i was driving home lost all brakes. I had it towed at my own expense then they discovered the other rear caliper had in fact seized like i hadtold them they replaced it cost me for the repair.this year may 2013wasagain noticed smell of the brakes burning, along with familiar bouncing. Only this time i drove 8 miles when heavy smoke was coming from front wheel what i told them last time and they didn't fix it back to the dealership it went. Although they fixed the problem it cost me the fee for the service. I paid the outrageous price of $2400.00 in 2011 for the extended warranty knowing this truck would be costing far more than that in future. The mystery vibration some experience that cant be "repeated" at the dealership other than the crap of tire inflation or "road force balancing" which there is no tire shop within 50 miles of me that has ever heard of such a thing is most likely the brakes.

The ford electric brake controller in my 05 ford superduty f250 stops working when i encounter rough pavement.if i am coming to a stop, and the intersection is rough, the led indicator on the brake controller drops to only one light illuminated out of ten possible, and the trailer brakes stop working.i can gain trailer brakes back by either fully releasing the brake pedal and re-applying or by reaching down and grabbing the manual slide control on the brake controller.this has happened to me with all three trailers i tow.it is very disconcerting and bound to cause an accident at some point when i am trying to stop a 15,000lb load.the dealer replaced the controller once, and since has said there is no problem found.

Dt:the trailer brake controller is built right into the truck. Does not have any brake control if goingunder 15-20 mph. The consumer took the vehicle to the dealer.this brake only put on 1-3 volts which they changed. But talked to dexter ,they said it needed2-12 volts. Ford changed this part onmarch 23, 2005, and the vehicle was manufactured onfebruary 28,2005. Dealer stated other consumers complainedabout thisproblem.

The electric brakes on the consumer's 2005 ford f-250 won't engage . The consumer purchased the vehicle because of the built in electric brake system.the consumer thought he had a braking problem with his trailer because he was unable to engage the brake while sitting still.after checking the trailer brakes and finding out that everything was fine the consumer check the truck and found that it had only 3 volts max out.the consumer thought he had a bad brake controller and took the vehicle to the dealer.the dealer checked the controller and found that everything was working as designed.the technician told the consumer that the earlier model 2005 required that the vehicle be moving in excess of 15 mph before receiving enough power to work the electric brakes.the technician also told the consumer that the later model 2005 plus all the ones since have been changed to give max power even at a stand still.now the consumer has to pay extra money to make the system work as it should.

The contact owns a 2005 ford f-250 superduty.while the vehicle was in a stationary position, the brake controller did not detect the trailer being attached to the vehicle.this indicated that the brakes were inoperative.the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer and they stated that the failure was related to the aftermarket seven pin connecter.the vehicle was repaired.the contact was concerned of the safety risk involved because when water leaks into the connecter, there will be a malfunction with the brakes.the failure mileage was 28,000 and current mileage was 31,000.

2005 ford f250 bought new may 2005. The brake pedal and gas pedal are so close and same height if your foot is overlapping gas pedal as you apply brakes vehicle accelerates dangerously.this has happened several times since vehicle was new.this caused damage to my garage door today. Fortunately no one was hurt.

The contact owns a 2005 ford f250 super duty.he experienced brake failure twice while driving, but was able to avoid two crashes.the vehicle was taken to the dealer and the front rotors were replaced. After the repair he experienced reduced braking capability. He also smelled a burning odor during brake application and upon further inspection, he noticed that the front rotors were defective. He was in the process of taking the vehicle back to the dealer.the failure and current mileages were 59,300. Updated 12/07/09. *ljupdated 12/08/09

The contact owns a 2005 ford f250 super duty.the contact heard a loud squealing from the vehicle.he then inspected the vehicle and discovered that the rear passenger side brake drum was rusted.the dealer advised the contact to inform the manufacturer of the failure.the manufacturer advised the contact to have the vehicle towed to the local dealer for diagnostic testing.no repairs were performed.the current mileage was 95,000 and the failure mileage was 94,000.

Two problems.shifting lever would not move out of park even though brake was depressed.also, cruise control failed to deactivate when brake was depressed.dealer replaced new switches to correct problem.

The contact owns a 2005 ford f-250 sd.while accelerating, the manual lever on the dashboard that was used to lock the brakes failed.the contact called the dealer and was informed that the vehicle was designed to not have trailer brakes when driving less than 15 mph.the contact called the manufacturer and was informed that no compensation would be made because the vehicle was not under recall.on march 23, 2005, the manufacturer made a modification to the brake system in order to correct the failure.however, vehicles that were manufactured prior to that date were not repaired; therefore, the contact's vehicle was not included.the failure mileage was a 52,000 and current mileage was 58,000.

I've experienced a recurring problem with the brake calipers on my 05' ford f-250 super duty. It's an intermittent problem of a caliper hanging up or not releasing after braking. The caliper heats up, the truck shakes, sometimes violently and braking ability is diminished. I purchased the truck brand new from the dealership, and it first occurred at 19,000 miles on a front caliper. Ford has since replaced all the calipers at least once under the original warranty, but now refuses to help. I've replaced the rear calipers at my cost with remanufactured ones, and i'm still continuing to have the same problem. I've spoken with other owners of the same vehicle who have also experienced this problem, so it doesn't appear to be an isolated incident. I've been reluctant to get rid of this vehicle because it's paid for in full, and because apart from the obvious brake defect, it isn't otherwise a bad truck. I strongly feel the caliper design is faulty and could easily cause a person to loose steering control if it occurs in a front caliper. I received a notice from ford about a year ago, describing what they termed a "handling anomaly" where the truck shimmies uncontrollably and fails to stop shaking within a few seconds like a "normal shimmy". While ford attributes this to tires and suspension, i believe this is the brake defect that's causing the shimmy. It's easy to tell which individual caliper is sticking as it and often even the wheel will be very hot to the touch while the other three are cool. In fact i've had visible smoke coming from a single brake.it should be easy to investigate this problem-- drive my stupid truck for a week and you'll find it. I'll gladly let you.

While driving on pa interstate 81, my 2005 f250 experienced severe driving loss of control when thefront suspension traveled over an area of the road that was uneven. This caused the trucks interior and exterior to shake uncontrollably for a long period of time to the extent that the vehicle was shifting into the other lane of traffic. Decelerating by releasing the gas peddle did not immediately stop the severe vibrations and applying the brakes seemed to increase the problem. My entire family and a non-family member was in the vehicle at the time and we allfeared for our lives. After researching the internet, there is a video posted by another ford owner and is exactly what we had experienced too. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8euq6f8rgt4&feature=results_video&playnext=1&list=pldca2ff5512789e5a) it is known as ' ford f250 death wobble', when viewing the video, the death wobblebegins around 1 min 30 sec into the video and needs to be seriously addressed and corrected to prevent this from ever recurring again before someone is killed or hurt...

On about feb 22 2009 my truck driver side rear brake caliper froze up causing the rotor toget extremely hot. This could have caused a fire. Truck only had 22600 miles on it. Out of warranty because of year, therefore costing me over $400.00.

My 2005 fordf-250 has a problem with the abs system. While driving at highway speed with cruise control on, there is amomentary loss of power, the speedometer and gauges go to 0 and the cruise control is shut down and the abs light comes on.vehicle has been to dealers 5 times for repair.

The vacuum hubs on a ford f250 are stuck in the lock position. Makes truck jump from one side of the road to the next. I have to fight the steering wheel to stay in my lane. It started only when i turn sharp it would stick then brake free after a i stop , and now i can't even drive without going from lane to lane. Bought new hubs that are not vacuum hubs ones that are 100% manual.

Driving on highway over 55 mph, i hit a small hole in the road and the truck shook to the point the wheel came out of my hands. I slowed down to re-gain control and stayed away as well as i could from potholes. I spoke with ford a number of years ago and they dealership recommended an alignment which did no good. I have just been living with the problem until i received a letter with the exact problem. Then i find out that a lot of you have the same issue. What is it going to take before the government or ford is going to take action a death!!!

Driving at speed. 2005 ford f-250 violent front end death wobble, dealer said it needed alignment, then said it was my tires, with new tires it still did it. Dealer said that it was okay. Nothing wrong. Until yesterday while driving to inter freeway,at 45mph slight rough road sent my ford truck into violent death wobble almost caused an accident, by hitting concrete barrier. Lost total control of my truck. I've contacted legal counsel to see what my options will be, also informed to make contact with dealer ship to see what they intend to do. I have extended warranty on my truck. Does this fall under warranty? or law suit?

Tsb front end oscillation iirc. Or as known on the internet as the death wobble (which seems very fitting as the truck goes completely out of control, it feels as if the whole front end is coming apart!)? severe shaking at high speeds or on rough roads-just driving along and all of the sudden severe shaking occurs so severe that this could cause an accident, almost like both front tires blow out at the same time, severe steering difficulties when this happens, if you come to a complete stop and then take off it stops?intermittent but incredibly dangerous!has happened 3 times within the last 2 weeks?once on a gravel road, once on a road with potholes and once on rt43 smooth as glass road at a speed of 65mph?this is always a sudden onset- no warning?this needs to be addressed, my children were in the car when we were going on rt43..this could have killed us had it been a two lane road as we were just doing the speed limit of 65mph and all of the sudden the front end is all over the place and out of control! it was almost impossible to control...i had the brakes to the floorboard and the front end of the vehicle was jumping all over the road, had there been a car beside us we would have collided with them! this is all over the internet as the death wobble but had it not happened to us we would not know about it! there should at minimum be a warning this could get people killed if it is not addressed...please, investigate this on the f250 ours is a 2005 but i have read that many others are having the same problem! this is a hazard!11-2-08 was the most recent incident the other two times happened within 2 weeks before! this is a scary situation, i am just thankful that there weren't a lot of other cars on the road or i fear that i wouldn't be around to write this complaint...it is this severe...no exaggeration! this needs to be addressed!

Stopped at a stop sign, accelerated to make left turn, hit either a bump or patch of sand when steering took to left then right and could not get back. Hit a guardrail and landed in ditch. My truck is totaled but luckily i was not severely injured.

While driving home from work, just leaving town i hit 50 mph and the truck starts to wobble from side to side and vibrate till i slow down to under 40 mph. I got the notice from ford telling me it all had to do with tire pressure. I inflated the tires to the required pressure and it only made thingsworse. I havecontacted them the first time this happened only for them to tell me there is nothing wrong. Clearly there is a problem. I have spent so much money replacing parts in the front end of this truck. Tires are now junk on the front end. The only thing i could do is under inflate the front tires to gain better control and drive slower. Still wobbles just not as bad. This is an on going problem i have everyday.

I currently own a ford f 250 pickup truck, when i am driving 40 to 50 mph my truck starts to shack violently. I have read manyforums on this and many people are having the same problem . Why has ford not recalled my truck to fix this problem when they know there is a problem? must somebody get hurt or worse killed due to fords neglect of this problem?

The contact owns a 2005 ford f-250 super duty. The contactstated when driving at various speeds the front end would sway from left to right. In addition, when driving at speeds of at least 30 mph, there was a slight loss of power steering assist causing minimal steering control. The contact would shut off the engine and when restarting, the vehicle would regain power steering assist. The vehicle had not yet been taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing or repairs. The approximate failure and current mileages were 119,091.

I have a ford f250 super duty.after hitting a small dip in the road, my steering column shook violently, back and forth. I was traveling only 30 mi per hour. Took to my dealer and they said nothing was wrong. Probably could be my tires. Bought new tires and a couple of weeks later,, the same thing happened again. If i was traveling any faster, i truly believe i would have lost control. I have been driving fire apparatus for over 29 years.and i know something is wrong here.please do something before someone is seriously hurt or killed.i do not trust ford.

Front ends starts to wobble steering wheel jerks, if hands aren't tight on steering wheel could pull you off road or into oncoming traffic, anytime you hit uneven road or bumpy road, to correct slow speed way down it will straighten up.

The contact owns a 2005 ford f-250 superduty.the contact stated that he loses control of the vehicle when driving over a speed bump or a bump in the road at 30 mph.the vehicle begins to shake unexpectedly and becomes difficult to steer.he took the vehicle to the dealer once, but they were unable to find anything wrong.the current mileage was 32,000 and failure mileage was 16,000.

Between speeds of 40-65mph truck will go into "death wobble" after hitting a pothole, rough spot in road, or dips ( ex. Over passes, bridges). Truck will shake violently to the left and right almost causing a wreck. Once this happens i have to let off gas apply brake slowly till truck stops the shaking. Traffic behind me has to brake, almost causing accidents, not to mention how hard it is to control the truck when this happens. I have almost had a wreck every time this had occurred. First started when i bought the truck in feb. 2010 with 52,500 miles. Still happens to this day after replacing front end parts, truck now has 68k miles. I've researched online and this seems to be an issue lots of people are having, not to mention it is ongoing.

2005 f250 steering wobbles when hitting pot holes. This has happened 4-5 times. Wobble is so bad had to pull over to complete stop nearly caused and accident.

We have continuous issues with the shimmy and uncontrollable shake in the front end of our 2005 f250 super duty (gas). At speeds of 55 and higher, the truck will shake uncontrollably off the road at the slightest uneven or bump in the road. We have taken it to dealerships numerous times and the only thing they have done is to replace the damper assembly on june 6th. Problem still exists and seems to be more erratic and frequent.

My 2005 ford f-250 super duty powerstroke diesel crew cab pick up truck shakes and shimmies violently when the front end hits a pot hole or travels over a road surface variation. I have had 4 incidents where on the freeway traveling at speeds in excess of 65 mph the vehicle began shaking and shimmying so violently that the truck changed lanes and was beyond my ability to control the vehicle. I was forced to take emergency action and exit the roadway. On one occasion the truck struck a fence pole adjacent to the road way after hitting a groove in the road at a speed of 45 mph.

The contact owns a 2005 ford f250 super duty. The contact stated that while driving at any speed over 50 mph, the entire vehicle would shake violently from side to side which caused containers to fall out of the cup holder. Whenever the contact shut the vehicle off and back on, it began functioning normally until he drove over another bump in the road. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer but the dealer stated that they were unable to diagnose the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000. The current mileage was approximately 66,500. Updated 11/03/10. *lj

When traveling at highway speed and traveling over uneven surfaces or braking from highway speed over uneven surfaces the front end begins to shimmy/oscillate and the steering wheel begins to shake violently. This is occurring more frequently.

While driving down the road, hit a small pothole in the road and the suspension started to violently shake the truck along with severe steering wheel oscillations.no control of the vehicle until i could get slowed down enough to stop the oscillations.i have had this happen on my truck multiple times throughout the years at speeds anywhere from 30 to 60 mph and contrary to other reports listed on here, the tire pressure was correct and made no difference.i have put on aftermarket suspension and tires since the original time this happened and added a steering stabilizer which helped to keep this from occurring but it still happens on occasion.this problem was brought up to my dealer at the beginning and they said they could find no problems.the shaking and beating of the vehicle when this occurs is unbelievable.i fully believe this is what has caused me to have a broken rim, electrical issues, brake problems, and what i believe is a cracked turbo up pipe or something else that is allowing exhaust fumes into the cab.

Driving speed limit, on highway 241, road bump/asphalt new vs old transition point, other time minor pot hole, once while making a right banked turn on the 241, another time while driving on 57 went over a road patch.severe front shake until i stop, causes cars around to drive defensively and i am trying to keep control.wife is afraid of driving truck and is concerned for my safety,it is very scary when it happens, the whole truck shakes like a blown tire until i stop.changed steering dampener, adj steering box play, check tire pressure.only happened once since repair, but i drive very cautiously and slower than most traffic now.can't sell truck because i would not do this to someone else.

I have a 2005 ford f250 super duty fx4 pickup that i purchased today.on the way home, at about 65-70mph, i hit a bridge joint which sent the front end into an extremely violent wobble.i had to slow down to about 20mph for it to go away.when i got home, i researched the problem on the internet, and found it to be a very common problem.i believe that ford has issued a tsb for this problem, but i feel that a recall should be issued because of how dangerous the issue is.the consumer should not have to pay to redesign a factory engineering problem.the wobble was so bad that the truck moved into the next lane.

The contact owns a 2005 ford f250 super duty. While driving above 60 mph, the contact noticed that there was vibration in the front wheel, causing the vehicle to shake excessively. The vibration was consistent and would occur each time the vehicle was in use. Also, as the contact would increase the speed, it seemed impossible to control the vehicle. The dealer informed the contact that they were aware of the issue and that a technical service bulletin was issued. The contact did not inform the manufacturer and the vehicle was not repaired. The current and failure mileages were 82,000.

2005 ford f-250 super duty, started at @ 25,000 miles in 2008 and still happens today. Happens when traveling over 60 mph, when you hit any small bump in the road, the front suspension started to shake uncontrollably. It is very hard to control the truck. This happens all the time on the freeway. The tire pressure was correct at the time of the first incident, the tires were balanced and the lug nuts were torqued to ford specs.talked to the ford dealer and they denied any knowledge of a similar problem. After a few hours research online, this problem is well documented and frequent with the ford super duty line from 05"-08". It seems to be an engineering defect and ford is well aware of the problem, but it does appear that ford has offered any remedies. The nhtsa also knows of the problem. I viewed four nhtsa videos that demonstrated the identical problem that i am experiencing with my truck. I have found no action on the part of the nhtsa. This problem needs to be acknowledged and corrected before someone is killed.

Experienced steering shimmy at highway driving speeds on multiple occasionswhile pulling a travel trailer and while not pulling a trailer.results in violent vibration of the entire vehicle to the point of being difficult to control.

Bought 2005 ford f 250 4x4 crew cab with gas engine. 25000 miles on truck during test drive i drove across railroad trucks at 60 mph truck begin to shake violently until brought to complete stop. Drove truck over rr tracks again at same speed truck didn't react the same tried it again still truck would not shake. After sale leaving el paso texas on i 10 interstate about 50 miles out going over bridge at posted speed limit of 80 mph truck again started to shake violently until slowed to stop. This truck became uncontrollable and almost caused a wreck on a major highway. I took the truck back to the dealer and cancelled the sale. I am reporting this because i have heard of several f250's with this same problem and ford does nothing to fix them. Vin number on truck.

Front end shakes violently after hitting pot holes or bumps in the road.to the point where a collision is highly possible.

The contact owns a 2005 ford f250 superduty. The contact was driving approximately 55 mph over a road bump when he lost control of the steering. The contact was able to gain control and returned to normal operation.the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnosis where they were unable to locate the problem. There was a technical service bulletin number 42601 which was related to the steering. The nhtsa item number was 10018736. The contact experienced the similar defect as mentioned in the technical service bulletin.the vehicle had not been repaired for the malfunction. The failure mileage was 60,000.

2005 ford f250 front end shakes violently when driving over bumps in road including speed bumps, at any speed. Shakes so bad that vehicle wants to leave the road sideways. Shakeslike a dog wagging off water. Replaced steering stabilizer, shocks, tires and had front ent checked. Still shaking. Getting ready to turn in to clunker program. Never buy a ford again, they know this is a problem.

Ford f250, 2005 superduty - front end shakes violently when driving over a road imperfection (bridge transitions, bumpy roads etc..) i've brought it back numerous times after the first steering shim recall and made calls but have gotten no where. They told me tire pressure , buy new tires and there is nothing they can do!now my truck is out of warranty they say bring it in we'll fix it.ford should be ashamed of themselves!i never knew about this complaint sight before, i wish i did then.

Ford sd f250 4wd - like others, severe shimmy, especially on expansion joints on freeways. Can and does spook the driver. Scary moments. Dealer checked, and said steer stabilizer should be replaced??at 61,000 k - no way.others are saying same thing, including ball joints being worn out???

I have a ford f-250 pick up. Since i bought the vehicle new, it has had a hard suspension.i thought it was because it was beefier than the f-150s i have driven all my life.the 250 however, will shimmy and vibrate uncontrollably after going over a bump or highway seam at speeds between 50 and 75 miles per hour.the dealer told me it was normal and ford sent a letter saying it may be the air pressure in the tires.it is neither.this truck is highly unsafe to drive.

I have a 2005 ford super duty 4x4 with only 12900 miles on it with no modifications except a winch.bought truck new.i live in ct.this happened 2 times once last year once this year, both in mass.going 70 miles per hour on interstate 91 hit a bump last year slid over to the other lane because of severe steering shake.lucky no car in other lane. This year same thing i checked tire pressure before going on my camp trip in vt tire press was 48 psi in all tires.this truck is only for pleasure.now going home in mass. I hita uneven sec. Of highway on 91s.it looked like a patch about 4 feet long ,the speed 70 in a 65mph zone, the truck steering shook so violently i almost lost control, but i had both hands on the wheel and that saved me.it scared the hell out of my passenger.this never happened in ct. Just mass.

2005 f250 4x4 superduty 5.4l crew cab, has very dangerous front wheel bounce on highway or near highway speeds(50-70)mph, the truck was in stock configuration when this started, approx. 26,000 miles have since put lift kit on truck and has helped but the bounce tendency is still there.larger wheels and tires have helped out lot, with the factory wheels/tires on its a for sure thing when on highway and come across series of bumps or a pothole. I avoid the highway when possible due to the very violent bounce when this occurs, please have ford fix this problem. Selling this truck will not fix problem, and i have tried dealer suggestions i.e air pressure, alignment... Waiting for ford to correct this with recall, but none that i'm aware of, will death to a motorist prompt recall? i hope not, thank you

My 2005 f250 super duty pickup truck vibrates violently when i cross a bump in the road at 65 mph or higher.this is very dangerous because it is bouncing so much that the steering and brakes do not work properly.so far this has only happened during traveling on a strait stretch.if it where on a curve, it would be impossible to steer. Sometimes it vibrates into the other lane.it is very scary.ford issued a service notice november 2011 stating tire inflation is the problem.this is not the problem as the tires are inflated properly. I have taken the truck to the dealer and they aligned the front end but that didn't help.ford needs to find a fix for this problem and issue a recall.

While driving at interstate speeds, after driving over a bridge joint or pot hole, the bounce often causes the front end to go into a violent harmonic steering oscillation that only stops when you slow down.you have several seconds to slow down below 35 mph before the oscillation causes loss of control of the vehicle.the steering oscillation is violent enough to cause the vehicle to have to have a steering alignment after each episode. The dealerships have a technical service bulletin (tsb) the recommends: front end alignment, replace steering stabilizer, check tire pressure, check front end for loose components.i have had this service and it did not fix the problem.the truck has been to the dealership 3 times and the problem is not resolved.

When traveling at speeds above 65mph front end of truck begins to shake and becomes almost impossible to steer until speed is reduced to 35mph (which can be extremely dangerous on a busy interstate) the first time thisoccurred i had the tires balanced thinking that would correct the problem, but this has happened three times since.

F250, super duty, 3/4-t, 4x4, 4wd, short box.all speeds it is noticeable.at highway speeds (75+ mph), encountering bumps, severe shimmy in front end, nearly causing loss of control of vehicle.fleet of 7 trucks all experience same, some worse than others.dealer has done all possible to remedy, including aftermarket heavier duty front steering stabilizer (at our expense).incident date is last date it occurred to my cruiser truck.it happens every time a bump in the highway is encountered with every truck our department bought for use as law enforcement vehicles.the magnitude of the wobble is dependant on the specific truck and the speed traveled.realize that as law enforcement response vehicles, often this involves very high speed.the higher the speed, the worse the problem.

Violent shaking in front end and steering wheel when traveling at highway speed and hitting a bump in the road.loss of steering control until slowingunder 45mph.

Driving 2-lane highway 55-70 mph when change in road surface (bump, frost heave, road bed surface material change) caused front end to shake violently, nearly causing loss of control.only way to stop shaking was to suddenly decrease speed to approximately 35-50 mph in traffic on rain-slick roadway.this occurred 4 times in course of 350 mile trip, each occurrance becoming more violent in nature and requiring more effort to maintain control.last occurrance was as operator was passing 18-wheeler...as i pulled along side, vehicle began to shake violently.as operator finished passing and returned to lane of travel, had to brake suddenly to regain control, nearly causing skid on rain-slick road and almost causing following vehicles to take extreme measure to avoid collision.

While driving 60 mph, the steering wheel became very loose. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The contact stated that this was an ongoing failure with the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and to billingsley ford lincoln of lawton (8209 nw quanah parker trailway bldg. 1, lawton, ok 73505, (580) 536-3325) on several occasions, but the failure was unable to be duplicated or diagnosed. The contact stated that themanufacturer was also notified many times and advised him to leave a message and speak with the owner of the dealer. The contact received ford action bulletin number: 09l02 (steering: wheel and handle bar, tires). The failure mileage was approximately 35,000.

Upon hitting a bump at 30 to 40 mph , steering veers from side to side, also known as the "death wobble"very unsettling to say the least, after some research online i was shocked to see that other ford 4x4 owners have the same thing. I found a company that says the steering geometry is wrong and have a fix,wc motorsports (508-203-9450)this should not be happening , my truck has under 40,000 miles and i am afraid to drive it. It is obvious that something is wrong and ford has been ignoring for years. What do i do ?do you want to buy it? I have a 2005 ford f250 super duty truck. It has just over 29,000 miles on it.it has now for the first time developeda severe shimmy in the front end on the highway at speeds just over 70. The first time it happened was on the interstate. Now, when i hit a bump or bridge joint, the severe shaking starts. It is very violent and dangerous in my opinion. I was able to slow and correct on a temporary basis, but it continues to do the violent shaking with the last event on july 26, 2009. It started onjuly 18, 2009.

While driving on the highway at around 60 mph i hit a small bump in the road, a normal seam in the macadmn. My truck started to shake violently. I had very little to no control of the steering, and the braking was also very poor. The truck shook so bad that it impaired my vision all i could do was let off the accelerator and hold on to the steering wheel. The truck drifted into the left lane while slowing. Around 35-40 mph the shaking went away and the truck acted normal. I pulled off the road and into a mall parking lot and checked under the truck for anything obviously wrong and found nothing. I drove my truck home about 10 miles no more problems. What a very scary episode.

I own a 2005 super duty power stroke and when i hit a pot hole or when i'm taking a turn to the left from 40 mph to 50 mph my truck gets the death wobbles until i hit the brakes and get down to about 15-20 mph. I don't even like driving it cause you don't know when it's going to happen. It's kind of sad when you pay so much for a nice truck and your afraid to drive it. I think ford needs to have a recall on these trucks before someone gets killed, it really is that bad!

I was driving down a main st, going about 35 mph...when i hit a bump the truck would shake violently and the steering wheel was also shaking violently , i had it diagnosed as the drag link ball joint and an upper ball joint both on the passenger side front...i got a letter in the mail from ford just yesterday about the shimmy/shaking issue, the letter states that it is due to tire pressure in which i believe to be very wrong!!

Shortly after i purchased my 2005 ford f-250 super duty pickup i experienced a violent vibration in the steering, when traveling over 55 mph, after hitting a small bump in the road.when i brought my truck in for service and mentioned this episode. The service manager acted as though it were an anomaly, maybe the road conditions or something else. This didn't seem to be the truth, since it happened several times since then. When i brought it to the attention of the local service manager, he said that this is common amongst theses large pickup trucks, and just tap the brakes until the vibrations subside, it shouldn't last long. Yesterday i was traveling at about 60 miles an hour on the highway, when i went over a sewer grate in the left lane. The vibration became so violent that i had no control of the steering at all. I narrowly avoided a collision with a fuel truck and several other cars on my way off the road and into woods causing multiple tire damage, and suffering dents and damage to the vehicle. I thank godno one was hurt, including me. I was able to drive the truck away after changing the tiresand cleaning up the mess from my personal property being tossed around the cabin. Not only did i loose steering but, i was surprised that such a violent episode did not deploy the air bags. I returned today to the dealer with my truck.the service manager had been replaced, with a new one. When i informed him of the situation he checked the computer for my records and magically he was able to find every other record of service and repairs, except the steering complaints. Tomorrow, the 26th, i have an appointment where i hope to have this corrected. Although this service manager says he hasn't heard of any problems with these trucks. I was searching the internet and found multiple complaints on different sites, including the one that made reference to your site. Through insurance, ihope that there would be some type of liability to the ford motor company.

I own a 2005 f250 super duty, my truck experiences the "death wobble" when ever i go over an uneven or a pot hole in the road. I live in arkansas, and our roads are not the best. So this happens just about every time i drive the thing. I just purchased this vehicle in september of 2009. Apparently when i test drove the truck i was on smooth pavement otherwise i wouldn't have bought it.

While traveling on the highway at 75 mph as i hit bumps in the roadway the vehicle feels like the front wheels are hopping.on 5 occasions i was traveling over an overpass were there is a seem from the 2 different roadway surfaces. The vehicle shook violently feeling as if the truck was going to lose control.the vehicle was allowed to slow and at about 55 mph the shaking would stop.at slower speeds the same vibration is felt but at a much less magnitude and severity. This loss of control as well as the slowing in lanes of traffic could cause serious loss of control and cause of crash. Dealer, borman autoplex las cruces,nm, had no answer as the violent shaking was not duplicated near our city.( all occurrences happened ontrips).dealer stated nothing was wrong and that some people say that putting sandbags in the back of the truck helped.they also said that if the tires were kept at the 75 psi that it would stop.nothing has helped and it is still not resolved.

I own a 2005 ford f-250 4x4. At slow speeds as taking off from a stop the front end shifts from left to right so hard i cannot steer the truck. I must stop and move the steering wheel left to right a few times before starting to move again. Its like the steering pump is pushing the steering wheel left to right.

The contact owns a 2005 ford f-250 superduty.while driving approximately 70 mph over a bump, the steering wheel began to vibrate and shake.the contact lost partial control of the steering and the vehicle swayed to the shoulder of the highway.there were no warnings prior to the failure.the vehicle was not taken to a mechanic for this failure and was able to be driven.the failure occurred two additional times.the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and they performed a safety inspection.the technician stated that there were no malfunctions with the vehicle.the failure mileage was 42,000 and current mileage was 51,000. Updated 07/29/08 updated 07/29/08

The contact owns a 2005 ford f250 sd. While driving 70mph on theinside left lane, the vehicle drove over a small bump in the road and began shaking uncontrollably. The contact had difficulty steering the vehicle and was unable to drive into the emergency lane. After shaking for 3 to 5 minutes the vehicle began operating normally. The dealer diagnosed the vehicle and stated that there was a technical service bulletin to place a damper in the suspension. The vehicle was repaired and the failure no longer exist. Shortly after the failure occurred, the contact received a warning letter stating that maintaining the proper tire inflation level would avoid the failure from recurring. The failure mileage was 50,000 and the current mileage was 80,000.

When traveling at 70+ mph on the interstate and encountering a change in road surface such as an overpass or culvert bridge the steering wheel severely jerks back and forth. The only way to remedy the problem is to slow to about 45 mph or less (can be difficult in traffic). I have had the wheels rotated, balanced and i always check the air pressure before a trip. I replaced the factory stabilizer with a beefed up single dampener aftermarket because the factory dampener lost all the oil the second time it happened. It has not remedied the problem! this is an accident waiting to happen, now i cannot even drive the speed limit on our interstate for fear of losing control!

(1) possibly triggered by a minor bump in the road(2) severe steering and/or front axle oscillation resulting in loss of vehicle control.the oscillation was much more severe than the common "death wobble" from out of balance or out of round tires, and appeared to involve not just the front tires, but the entire front axle.this has happened twice, once before the first set of repairs, once after the first set of repairs.vehicle ran completely off the highway both times.(3) the first time, the steering box broke as a result of the violence of the steering oscillations, so the steering box was replaced.after the second time the vehicle ran off the road, the vehicle's alignment was checked, the tires were rotated, the tire pressure was adjusted.the dealer performed all the steps outlined in a technical service bulletin, but said that they found nothing wrong that would account for the problem.now, our drivers are afraid to drive this truck again.this is a fleet vehicle, and after some investigation we have learned that we have at least five other trucks of this design (2005 and 2006 ford 4x4 f-250) that have exhibited similar problems. We have been told that an aftermarket steering stabilizer (that ford will neither supply or stand behind) will fix the problem, but we don't believe it.it might reduce the symptoms, but we are convinced the problem is design related.the front end design on these trucks was changed in late 2004, and the oscillation problem appears to be related to a lack of lateral (by that i mean side to side) stiffness in the suspension.

Front end instability, extreme vibration, loss of steering at highway speed after hitting rough pavement. Have had vibration and bounce in front end since vehicle was purchased new dec 2004. Repeated return to dealership but unable to find point cause. April 25, 2005 cruise control at 75mph on i4 florida rough asphalt triggered severe shimmy and vibration, loss of steering (unable to pull to safety lane). Control regained only by braking in busy highway speed traffic until vibration ceased. Tires are new, rotated at 3,000 and kept at factory pressure. These events have occurred sporadically since purchase in dec 2004.

My ford f250sd 2005 has a violent uncontrollable shaking in the front end. This problem has become more frequent as the truck gets older. When this happens i have to pull over andstop.

Violent shaking after hitting pot holes or expansion joints on highways at speeds ranging from 55 to 75mph.the shaking causes a complete loss of steering control and will not stop until slowing below 40mph.after reading several posts online i see this is an ongoing problem with these trucks and needs to be fixed before someone gets killed.

I have a 2005 f-250 that has a violent front end shake at around 60mph after hitting a rut or small pothole, problem does not go away until i slow down.taken to dealer and they: "installed updated steering dampener and bracket per 07-10-10 retorqued suspension fasteners.... R&r long and short drag link check toe recenter steering wheel.the same problem developed shortly after.i will be taking to dealer again.

1) @50,000 miles, normal city driving, speed less than 30 mph.2) left tierod broke without warning.the tie rod dropped to the ground and the left front wheel no longer had steering control.the tie rod looks like the castellated nut was over torqued causing the stud to break off and the tapered shaft to fall out of the spindle.this is not a case of the ball joint in the tie rod wearing out. I'm lucky in this case it happened at a slow speed and no trailer in tow.if i was moving faster with a trailer, it could have been a disaster to lose steering control of the left front tire.the right side tire was still able to steer.the truck swerved out of the lane momentarily while i regained some control.in the act of dropping down, the tie rod made contact with the bead area of the front rim.as a result the wheel rim was also ruined.it was interesting that the tow truck driver and the service manager both mentioned that they have seen this kind of problem before.3)the truck was flatbeddedto the dealership for repair.the tie rod end was replaced at my expense for ~$750,not including the damaged wheel.i have the old part and can supply pictures if needed.

Driving at highway speeds , the truck shakes violently after hitting a bump . The issue is commonly referred to as a death wobble . You slow down to about 45 mph or slower & it stops . You can then resume your trip .

When driving on the highway above 50mph the ford 2005 f250 super duty begins to shake violently to the point of loosing control. They only why to stop the shaking is to slow down immediately and force any following traffic to slam on their brakes too. The items that bring on this shake (oscillation) are the following. The problem occurs when:1. On a highway going over 50 mph2.hiitting a bump in the road.once a bump is hit above 50mph, the oscillation (left to right) begins. I have been in several incidents were the cars behind me must maneuver or stop and risk running into other vehicles.

I have a 2005 ford f250 sd pickup truck that has 25,000 miles on it.i has begun to experience a violent front end shaking at highway speed when going over even the smallest of bumps.you need to almost stop in the middle of the highway to make it stop. The dealer says they don't know of any problems and so does ford.but looking on-line it is very obvious that this is a real issue and needs to be recalled.it is also referenced as "death wobble".

While driving at aprox. 70 mph. And hitting uneven road the truck shimmies violently. I have to slow to about 40mph. Before it stops. I was told i have the wrong tires on the truck. The tires on the truck are the ones on it when i purchased it.

I was traveling 70 mph on a 3 lane interstate, in the left lane. I went over a bridge expansion joint and the truck started shaking violently and would not stop until i pulled over to the shoulder. I checked to see what may have caused the shaking and found no visible damage, and so proceeded without any further issues. The vehicle is stock with proper tires, sufficient tread, and were inflated to within 2 to 3 pounds of fords recommended tire inflation (i checked the next day).

Broken steering box on a 2005 ford f-250 has 28,500 miles, denied warranty.

Dt: the contact stated there was severe vibration in the front suspension while driving at highway speeds.he took the vehicle to the dealer and the power steering pump was replaced.afterwards, the problem recurred, and he took the vehicle back to the dealer.this time the dealer replaced the front and rear shocks.all repairs were covered by the warranty.there were no further problems.

Paint starting to peel from bumper.

The truck is leaking water, overheating, the turbo has been replaced. I can not find the leak, turbo is messed up again it was in the shop two times for this and it keeps doing the same thing. Also leaking anti freeze.

The contact owns a 2005 ford f-250 purchased brand new in 2005. While stepping on the driver's side running board, the entire board broke off the truck. The running board consist of five mounted pieces and all five pieces broke simultaneously. The failure and current mileages were approximately 17,520.

The contact owns a 2005 ford f-250 sd.the contact noticed corrosion and rust at the lower region of all four welded door seams.in addition, the tailgate's lower inner/outer skin weld seam panel was separating, rusted, and corroded.the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer, but there were no resolutions.the failure mileage was 38,200 and current mileage was 39,500.

My husband was attempting to step into his truck when his running board on the driver side broke in half with him and came completely off the truck, sending him to the ground.as he is disabled, this was a very scary situation. I feel if there is a shelf life or weight limit on these running boards, then the manufacturer has an obligation to have it posted somewhere on the truck.he hurt his back and hip but it could have been a lot worse had he fell on pavement instead of dirt.

2005 ford f250 4x4 crew cab shakes violently when hitting pothole at between 45-50 mph until you slow down. Looking into this, i have found that many others have this same problem.

Drivers door flew open and would not shut.

Truck has had many electrical issues since i purchased it. Truck also has a terrible bounce when it hits a pothole.

I own a ford 2005 f250 super duty fx4 pick up. When the truck goes over a bump or uneven road surface the front end becomes shaky and the vehicle has a sideways movement , this is more evident if it occurs while rounding a curve in the road. This vehicle was purchased new and the problem has been on going. On 07/07/09 i almost veered into a bus .

When ever the truck goes over something like an bulged expansion joint or a pot hole with speed in excess of 40-45, it will react violently.often the vehicle will move over a foot or two(depending on the speed of the truck) in the lane of traffic.the bouncing/shaking of the front wheels is over in several seconds, but is severe none the less.if you hit a bump on a curve, the vehicle will almost go off the road. This has happened enough times over the yearsthat i attempted evasive action/slow way down when i see i'm about to strike something that will set the suspension into bounce mode.many, many, many ford super duty owners have complained about this issue and all ford can say is that it's the owners fault for not keeping the tires aired properly.i dare you to come drive my truck!!!!!!!!!yes, i have changed the oem shocks to bilstens for the f250 applications and have installed a stiffer steering stabilizer shock.have also experimented with various air pressure settings.nothing made any difference.truck still has stock suspension springs.

Severe rapid vibration in steering wheel after hitting small changes in surface plane - acknowledge speed 70-80 - possible unbalanced suspension for elevation of chassis?very dangerous, very real problem.

While driving driver noticed that the vehicle swayed from left to right on its own.then, vehicle vibrated uncontrollably.driver was able to maintain control of the vehicle, and drove to the dealer. Mechanic informed the driver thatdealership was aware ofproblem, but asolutionwas undetermined at this time.

The contact owns a 2005 ford f-250 superduty. While driving approximately 75 mph over a slight bump, the vehicle began to violently shake. The contact applied heavy pressure to the brake pedal to stop the shaking. The vehicle had not been inspected or repaired; the dealer stated that the contact should check the tire pressure. The current and failure mileages were approximately 39,600.

I bought a 2005 f250 crew cab and since about 25k miles my truck will wobble when i hit a bump at 45-60 miles per hour. The shack/wobble is so intense that you feel the front of the truck is going to loose the tires. This has happened about 6 times now and i know something is very wrong but ford will not do anything except tell me to check my tire pressure. Tire pressure is checked almost monthly on my truck and i know that is not the issue. It is hard to have re-create the issue with a tech, since it does not happen all the time. I am getting the run around with ford and have spent thousands of dollars trying to fix the problem myself. I know of other ford owners that have the same problem and ford refuses to do anything.

Consumer's 2005 ford f250 shook when it hit a bump.when the steering wheel started shaking the consumer could not make it stop until he lowered his speed to approximately 30 mph.the vehicle was taken to the dealer 5 times for this problem but they have been unable to duplicate or remedy the problem.as of 9-26-05 the vehicle has been at the dealer.an engineer agreed that there is a problem but doesn't know what the problem is.the consumer would like for the manufacturer to buy back the truck.

Front end shakes violently after hitting pot holes or bumps in the road.to the point where a collision is highly possible.

Dt: vehicle will go to the left or the right, andconsumer will never feel steering wheel move. Took vehicle to dealer ,lined it up, put new tires on it, put new casters on, and rotated it. Butvehiclestill has the problem.

2005 ford f-250 sd shaking violently after going over uneven surfaces on highway.we were out of the state working for 10 days and depended on this vehicle so the following day we took it to a ford dealer and all they had to say was the tires needed 80 pounds of air.as soon as we returned home we traded it off and got a 2006 and it is doing the same thing and a complaint has been filed on it as well.done with ford trucks, if ford doesn't think any better of its customers than to put an unsafe vehicle on the road we are going to chevrolet.

2005 f-250 superduty lariat 4 door 4x4violent shaking when hitting rough roads.

The contact owns a 2005 ford f250. While driving the vehicle began to shake violently. He also began to experience a violent front end shaking at highway speeds of over 10 mph when driving over minimal bumps in the road and uneven surfaces. The ford dealer was contacted and they advised the contact to have an alignment performed and to rotate his tires which did not correct the failure. He also had shocks installed in an attempt to correct the failure; however, the failure persisted. There were no additional repairs made to the vehicle in an attempt to correct the failure. The failure and current mileages were under 85,000. Updated 3/10/10 updated 06/04/10

The contact owns a 2005 ford f250 super duty.he stated that while driving highway speeds the vehicle would bounce and shimmy.the dealer stated that they have done all that they could do.the failure mileage was 18,000 and the current mileage was 22,000. The vin number appeared to be incorrect.

Our company has 3 2005 f-250 work trucks and the all have the same problem ,when you reach approx. 55mph you get a violent shake from the frontend, and or if you hit a pothole it is very dangerous, like your going to lose control due to the shaking and nobody can find a total fix to the problem,i think ford should have a recall or something!

Very severe uncontrollable front end shimmy. Vehicle was taken to dealer and no trouble was found. Service advisor advised tire balancing and alignment. I paid for that service out of pocket and problem still persisted. I them replace the tires out of pocket. Problem still persisted. I then replaced the shocks and steering stabilizer out of pocket. Problem is 90 percent better but you must be careful of the vehicle limitations. In my opinion their is a vehicle design flaw. Exact dates can be supplied if necessary.

While traveling at about 60 mph i lost control of my truck due to violent shaking of the front end. I had to pull over and let speed decrease to 20 mph to regain control. This happened twice in a 2 mile period. I then drove on shoulder of the road at 20 mph to get home. This has been a consistent problem since i bought the truck new in 2005 but it has never been this bad. I originally thought it was because it was a 4 wheel drive. I am now not willing to dive at high speeds. This is a super dangerous problem!!!

When driving on the highway above 50mph the ford 2005 f250 super duty begins to shake violently to the point of loosing control. They only why to stop the shaking is to slow down immediately and force any following traffic to slam on their brakes too. The items that bring on this shake (oscillation) are the following. Shakes violently and uncontrollably at various times and speeds when hitting a bump or uneven surface. Usually occurs at 60-75 mph. Very dangerous and scary! dealer blames tires which are almost brand new.

On my 2005 ford f250 superduty truck with only 31000 miles, thefour cab energy suspension mounts are deteriorating. One lower part of therear driver side mount is gone causing the cab to bounce.

[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

I was traveling 70 mph on a 3 lane interstate, in the left lane. I went over a bridge expansion joint and the truck started shaking violently and would not stop until i pulled over to the shoulder. I was driving on i-64 doing about 65-70mph and crossed over bridge/rough spot in road when it threw the truck into a bad shimmy.it has happened at least 10 times in the past year.i took the truck to a ford dealer and was told that it needed a new camber kit that would change by 1 degree.i had to pay for repairs.the problem still exist.

Ford f-250 superduty- while driving at 55mph or higher, and you hit a small pothole or dip in the road, this vehicle goes into a violent shimmy. The vehicle is uncontrollable and extremely dangerous. I won't let any of my family members ride in the truck with me and cringe at the thoughts of having to drive it on the interstate! it has shaken me off the road and into the ditch or median several times.

2005 ford f250 crew cab super duty v10 triton.while driving at a speed above 30 mph and hitting some bumps on the road the truck will go into a violent oscillation where all the wheels hop up and down causing me to nearly loose control.the only way i have found to stop this severe wheel hop is to put the vehicle in neutral and quickly but safely get the vehicle below 10 mph (5 mph if left in gear).this usually happens at speeds about 50 mph but in two cases it has happened at slower speeds including once at right at 30 mph.i have had passengers including children in the vehicle when this has happened and they have all feared for their lives when it occurs.i find myself dodging bumps in the road at the risk of causing an accident myself to keep this from happening.i can't believe with as many people that i have found on the web that are complaining about this that nothing is being done about it.

I have a 2005 ford f-250 superduty 4x4. I have experienced front wheel shimmy 3 times . I took the truck to a dealership. They put on a new front steering shock absorber but it occurred again after the repair.

While driving down the interstate at speeds between 65 and 80 mph and while going over road bumps, the front-end will begin to vibrate to the point that entire truck will shake. After slowing to 45 mph, the situation will self-correct only to begin again after crossing another bump or concrete bridge. No crashes/injuries have been noted thus far. This is the 5th time in a period of 48 hours this has happened. I have found numerous reports online of others experiencing the same problem and none have found a resolution. This is a 2005 f-250 supercrew 4x4.

I have a ford f250 sd diesel 2wd truck i have replace the front wheel bearing 4 time in 137,000 miles.the dealer says it is water and dirt intrusion. It has not caused any accedents yet but it is only a matter of time.

As i hit speeds of 65+ mph, if i hit any rough surface, bridge abutment, or small pot hole the trucks front end would proceed to shake violently out of control only stopping after i brought the truck to a complete stop on side of highway. Got back on highway and exact same problem happened 1.5 miles farther up road. Shake is so violent i can hardly maintain control of the vehicle to even bring it to a stop.

I was drivingthe 2005 f-250 with 12000 milesat 65 mph on the highway when i hit some bumps and the truck went in to a violent shaking witch made it very hard to steer and stop.the shaking would not stop until i could get into the break down lane and come to a stop. The next day i brought vehicleto ford and, they said thetires had 65 psi, and should have 75 psi.if 10 psicaused that violentshaking what would 20 psi do. I strongly feltthese truck were not safe. If the speed were higher or the road conditions were differentduring rain, snow, etc i mightnot be so lucky. I got the truck back today from ford , and they told me if it happenedagainto bring it back , that mad e me feel real good. I am still not going over 50 mph any time soon.

2005 ford f250 super duty 4x4. Violent shaking after hitting a small deformed part of the road, slow vehicle to 10 mph to stop the shaking. Have lost control of the vehicle 2 times in the last week. I have taken it to the shop and no one could find anything wrong with the vehicle.

Experienced steering shimmy at highway driving speeds on multiple occasionswhile pulling a travel trailer and while not pulling a trailer.results in violent vibration of the entire vehicle to the point of being difficult to control.

Front shakes violently at times on my 2005 ford f-250. Feels like the whole front end of the truck is shaking apart. The only way i have found to stop it is to drastically slow down my truck, which is a huge safety hazard when other vehicles are following behind me. I sometimes have to slow from 55 mph to 35 mph.updated 07/08/10 updated 07/09/10.

2005 ford f-250 super duty, 69,000 miles. Traveling approx 65 mph, hit a small bump in the highway and the front suspension started to shake uncontrollably. I very nearly lost complete control of the truck. This never happened before, but has happened twice since. The tire pressure was correct at the time of the first incident, the tires were balanced and the lug nuts were torqued to ford specs. Replaced front steering damper, did not resolve the problem. Talked to the ford dealer and they denied any knowledge of a similar problem. After a few hours research online, this problem is well documented and frequent with the ford super duty line from 05"-08". It seems to be an engineering defect and ford is well aware of the problem, but it does appear that ford has offered any remedies. The nhtsa also knows of the problem.i viewed four nhtsa videos that demonstrated the identical problem that i am experiencing with my truck.i have found no action on the part of the nhtsa.this problem needs to be acknowledged and corrected before someone is killed.

I recently purchased a ford 2005 f250 super duty truck. While driving on the highway at 70 mph, i hit an uneven spot on the road that caused the front end to wobble violently. I felt i could not control the truck and had to apply the brakes immediately. Luckily there were no other cars nearby. When the truck reached approximately 30 - 35 mph, the wobble ceased. On my way back home, the wobble occurred again. This time i was traveling at 60 - 65 mph and hit another rough spot on the road. This is a major safety hazard that needs to be resolved before someone is killed. I researched the problem on the internet and discovered this has been ongoing for a while. There are numerous examples from other f250 and f350 owners with the same problem that can be found on the internet. The ford motor company is aware of the problem and blames the wobble on underflated tires. The wobble occurs on properly inflated tires also as detailed by other truck owners. But even if the truck's tires are under inflated, a violent wobble should not occur. Many other vehicles are in use with under inflated tires, you don't hear of a violent wobble after encountering a pot hole or an uneven road surface.

Truck shakes out of control when hitting small pot holes on the freeway . Only resolution is to hold on tight and bring the truck to a complete stop. Taken it to bob boyd and they had no resolution. It is happening more often and will cause a major accident. Read many other complaints. Same problem 2005 f250.

Severe suspension and steering wheel shimmy after hitting uneven road surface, doing about 55mph. The shaking is so back it throwsthings out of the visor and stuff off of the seat on to the floor. Today was the second time this has happen. This is a 2005 f250sd with 20789 miles on it and this is just starting to do this. Both times this happen had enough road shoulder to pull over and stop. If this happen on a narrow shoulder freeway bridge or concrete barrier i would probably hit someone or something. Ford needs to do something about this before someone dies, then there will be law suits.

2005 ford f-250 super cab super duty wobble dangerously when driving over the slightest ripple or bump in the road over 50 mph. Extremely hard to control and hard to stop the vehicle when the front tires are so out of control and wobbling. The whole truck is like it is in an earthquak, windshield cracks and cup holders fell out.*

Near complete loss of control while driving at 55-60 miles an hour on flat freeway. Small bump sent truck into shuttering wobble.no steering almost no brakes took several hundred yards to slow down to about 10-15 mph and regain control of vehicle.

I have had 3 incidents of what i have found to be called the "death wobble" in my 2005 f-250 4 door crew cab 4 wheel drive pick up truck where the front end of the vehicle goes into a violent bouncing and shuddering after passing over a bridge joint or similar uneven spot on the highway while traveling approx. 65 mph. This resulted in a near loss of control and could not be stopped until i was able to slow to approx. 35mph. This caused a near collision with a vehicle alongside me as well as a near rear ending from the vehicle behind me as i had to slow to 35mph in the high speed lane. Each time this occurred i had my 2 young daughters in the vehicle with me. I have read that there is a problem with the track bar being at an improper angle to the drag link?i understand that this is an inherent problem with many year model fords and they refuse to acknowledge or fix the problem. I am currently looking for an aftermarket fix as i believe this is a serious safety issue which could cause loss of control and accident.

I have a 2005 f-250 sd crw cab long box, i have expereinced a severe shaking and pulling while traveling at 70-75 mph.i had the smaller factory tires and wheels change to the bigger 265's but it did not help.this is going to hurt somebody soon.

I have a 2005 f250 super duty that i purchased used with 10k miles on it.i was driving on the intestate between 70 and 75 mph and drove over some rough asphalt in the freeway, it has been there for years and is not to bad. However, my new truck began to shimmy so bad i thought i was going to die that day. I have been a aviation mechanicfor 18 years and i am here to tell you something is wrong with these ford trucks.someone is going to get killed with this problem soon. I had to clean my pants out after this experience. It's going to the dealer monday but from what i reading ford doesn't have a fix for the problem. If anyone from ford wants a scary ride come pay me a visit.

The contact owns a 2005 ford f-250 super duty. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 45 mph over a rough patch on the road, the front end of the vehicle shook and vibrated and seemed as if it would lose control. The failure occurred intermittently and always occurred on dry pavement. The vehicle would function normally if it was slowed to approximately 30 mph. The failure mileage was approximately 25,000. The current mileage was approximately 25,500.

My vehicle vibrates and shimmies uncontrollably when i hit a rough spot on the interstate traveling at 60-70mph.the vehicle has to be slowed 15 to 20 mph immediately to regain control.

2005 f-250 short bed 4x4 super duty 5.4 v-8. Truck shakes out of control at high speed when rough roadway is present. Has done this since 18,000 miles and gets worse with age. Ford refuses to find the problem, as they only drive truck around town. Have ask them to take onto interstate, but they don't have time ! ford replaced the damper at 34,000, helped, but did not fix! have had my front end man look at front end, and he could only find slack in the steering gear box, but that didn't fix the problem either. This truck is unsafe and ford needs to step up to the plate and fix the issue before someone gets killed! the last time it did it i had my 5th wheel trailer behind me and it took me across 2 lanes of traffic into the median, and scared me to death, to the point i am selling the 5th wheel and truck as it is junk, and will never buy another ford after being a ford man for over 35 years. The only way to stop the violent shaking is to slam brakes on and reduce speed to under 35 mph. I have put up with the problem for some time as the truck now has 61,000 miles on it!

Vehicle starts to shake uncontrollably after hitting a small bump (pothole, bridge connector) at highway speeds (50-70 mph).vehicle is difficult to control, and steering is sometimes unresponsive until vehicle slows down below 40 mph.this problem has caused the vehicle to veer to the left across the center line, but this does not always occur.local dealers have inspected the vehicle and found no problems with suspension or control components.incident date is just one of at least 3 occurrences.web based user group/bulletin boards refer to this problem as the 'death wobble' or 'death shake' because of its violent nature, tendency to occur at high speed, and tendency to cause the vehicle to drift off the road.

2005 ford f-250 front end shakes and causes loss of control on highway after hitting a bump.

I have a 2005 f250 when i hit a bump on the high way at 50mph or higher the truck front end and steering wheel shake violently and feels like you are going to loose control of the truck.very dangerous.

Vehicle shakes violently when going faster than 55 miles an hour and hitting a small bump in the road. Have to slow down in order for the truck to stop shaking putting all passengers in danger on the highways.

When traveling at interstate highway speeds, traveling over bridge/overpass expansion joints will cause the front axle/steering to shake violently. This seems to set up some kind of weird harmonic vibration that the front end cannot recover from. Even after the road smoothes out, front axle will continue to shake violently until speed is decreased to about 40mph. This shaking is incredibly violent. A loss of control is highly possible. Truck has been to the dealer twice and had the steering stabilizer replaced, this has not fixed the issue. Dealer has not been able to duplicate the problem due to the random occurrence and specific road conditions required. I have driven ford trucks my entire life, this is not a normal "characteristic of vehicle". Something is wrong with the design on the front end of these trucks. My wife will not drive it. Somebody is going to get killed.

Driving on highway at speeds of 65 mph, going over a bump on the road, the front end starts shaking very bad until you get below 40 mph, it is all you can do to keep it under control.

2005 ford f250 sd, gas, front end shakes violently when hitting successive potholes at highway speed, very dangerous, must slam on brakes to get truck to come back under control. *updated 12/12/07 updated 12/12/07

Recently purchased a 2005 ford f-250.while driving from the dealership, i hit a small bump/expansion joint in the road that cause the front tires to bounced uncontrollably.i was traveling approx. 65 mph at the time.the vehicle shook completely out of control to the point that i could not control it.i slowed to approx. 30 mph before the bouncing stopped.a third party in the next land flagged me down and advised me that it looked as if the front tires were going to fly off.the occurred 2 more times that same day.took vehicle back to dealer.currently waiting for them to make corrections.they referred me to a technical service bulletin issued by ford.problem supposed to be correctable.waiting to see.

Front end bounces uncontrollably at hi way speeds until you stop , if still on the road.

2005 ford f-250 truck front end wobble.has done it since about 20,000 miles.driving 55+ miles per hour, turning to the left, front end and steering wheel shakes violently.

2005 ford f250 4x4, 4 door, auto, 5.4l gas, approx. 39k mi.traveling at interstate highway speed, in a sweeping left hand curve, crossing rough pavement, a severe steering wheel shake and front wheel shimmy commenced, causing loss of steering control, involuntary rapid lane change and near accident. I slowed to 25 mph in order to regain control of the truck. Living in fl and working in sc at the time, i was forced to deal with different ford dealers in the columbia, sc and bartow, fl areas. On the advice of various ford service departments, i replaced tires, wheels, ball joints, shocks (twice), steering stabilizer, had multiple alignments and wheel balances performed.as i was stranded out-of-town with a truck that was handling progressively worse, i spent approximately $4,500 in parts replacements before the problem was remedied. Three ford dealerships acknowledged that a serious problem existed and that the vehicle was in warranty.ford customer relationship center personnel, 800-392-3673, employed blatant stalling tactics until my odometer had passed 40,000 miles, then refused to render any assistance.more than one year later, i am waiting for a call from a regional ford service manager, supposedly arranged through a columbia, sc ford dealer.i have received high speed driving instruction at two different police academy courses.i have driven dozens of different vehicles at very high speeds over hundreds of thousands of miles.i know a dangerous vehicle defect when i see one.this ford suspension problem presents a life threatening condition that is well known by ford.not only has ford not recalled these vehicles, their service personnel are engaging in a campaign of denial and deception.

Front end shakes violently after going over bumps at highway speeds.

There is violent shaking in the front end of the truck at speeds over 50mph. You feel like the whole front end is going to fall out from under the truck. If you can make it over to the side of the road and slow to @35mph it will stop. At times the shaking is so violent that the vehicle will change lanes. This is a serious problem that needs to be addressed. There are alot of blogs that people have posted on wondering what to do. I took my truck to a shop twice in the last two days and they can't find anything wrong with it. This needs to be addressed before there are deaths caused by this situation.

This failure is on a ford, f250, 4x4 with the 5.4l gas engine.at highway speed, when hitting a rough spot in the road, the front end of the vehicle goes in to an oscillation (death wobble) that can only be stopped by drastic reduction in speed.the oscillation impacts the ability to control the vehicle.the failure has been reported to the dealer and i am awaiting response.

When traveling at highway speeds a defect or uneven portion in the roadway such as a pothole or bump or an expansion joint on an overpass can cause the front end to start shimmying uncontrollably. The vehicle has to be slowed or even stopped to make the shimmy stop which is a dangerous situation on a multilane highway. This has occurred two times in the past 3 months, i must stress that the shaking is quite violent and frightening. I have been researching this on the internet and have found that many people have this same complaint with no apparent fix for the problem.if this is so then i will be trading this vehicle in for another because this is an unacceptable condition.

I own a 05 ford f250sd truck. While driving at speeds of around 50 and up when i run over a pot hole or road roughness the front end shakes violently.i have to slow down very quickly until it stops and then i can proceed. I took it to the ford dealership and was told to replace the tires. I bought new tires and it fixed the problem for 6000 miles. That's when i rotated the tires. It has begun shaking again. This is very dangerous. If i were in heavy traffic when it occurred i could wreck. Looking up this problem on internet i found this is a common problem among all newer model ford trucks yet there is no recall for this.

I hit a small pothole traveling on i-295 at 65 mph.the truck bounced out of control and drifted into the left lane.i braked to 35 mph and it stopped.a shop mechanic said it was ok.the same thing occurred recently on i-64.hit a road patch and bounced to a stop.my wife was horrified at the violent shaking.a master mechanic could not find anything wrong.this only happens at high speeds above 60 mph.

While driving vehicle will start to shake, even worse if i hit a bump in a corner. Have to stop for it to go away.

2005 f250 4x4 super crew bounces violantly while driving, happens frequantly, going to take it to ford, based on forums, looks to be a problem for more people than just me.

I own a ford 2005 crew cab super duty, the vehicle shakes violently through the front end, have taken the truck to ford dealership for "repair" but it did not solve the problem.

My ford f 250 truck shakes uncontrollably at highway speeds when the front suspension is upset on highway.normally occurs at or above 65 mph, the way to re-gain control is slow considerably.this is consistent with factory and replacement tires.ford stated that there is a problem, but that it doesn't warrant a recall.

2005 ford f-250 crew cab 4x4, v-10, 56000 miles. Front suspension wobbles and steering wheel shakes when hitting potholes or any sort of good bump at speeds 30 mph and above. New larger tires, 265/75/17 only amplifies this problem to an uncontrollable state at highway speeds of 65+.when the problem occurs, it feels like i am driving down a washboard dirt road at high speed with the steering wheel shuttering uncontrollably.i need to slow the truck down to 50 or so just to get control back.tire pressures are at recommended specs.when driving under control and straight, the steering wheel has a lot of slop left to right. I bought this truck new in feb 05 and i am the original owner.

When traveling down highway from speeds ranging from 50-70 mph if uneven road in encountered (potholes, rough roads, objects in road..etc) vehicle goes into violent frontend shake.when this shaking occurs it is an immediate threat to not only persons in vehicle but in any vehicles surrounding our own.reducing speed and braking is the only way to regain control of vehicle.

On several occasions while traveling over speeds of 55 mph, the vehicle shakes uncontrollably if you hit a flaw in the road, such as a bump. It has cause myself and wife to nearly lose control of the vehicle, fortunately there were no other vehicles close as on one occasion the truck changed lanes while shaking violently. I am a former truck mechanic and have never seen anything like this.the dealer has told us that there is no problem, yet i view this as a potentially life threatening issue, we have not driven the vehicle on the highway since the last episode.

I have a 2005 ford f250 sd and i have had the front end shimmy out of control on me 2 time. I have stock tires on it tire pressure is at manufacturers specs and this is just extremely dangerous someone is going to get killed buy this. Ford or someone needs to fix this problem . Thank you [xxx] parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).*cc

Front end wobbles shakes and slides especially in a rough curve and dangerous and could cause an accident. Dealer name is bordelon ford in opelousas, la. And advised could not do anything else to correct the defect.

I own a ford f-250 super duty[2005] with 14,000 miles on it. I have hit a series of slight bumps traveling on the garden state parkway traveling at about 65 mph. The front end of the truck and steering wheelshook so violently, i thought the front end of the truck dis-engaged from the rest of the body.the steering wheel shook so violently i could hardly hold on to it. I took my foot off the gas and applied the break very gently. I must have slowed down to 30 mph before the truck became under control again. Meanwhile the car behind me had to slam on his breaks do to my truck being out of control and the rapid de-acceleration on a major highway. I had to pull over as soon as i was able to check what i thought would be major front end damage. After all, what could cause such a violent reaction. Absolutely nothing to be seen. My truck was just serviced by a ford dealership as it has been since i purchased it new. This has happened at least 4 times total.i cannot stress to you enough how violent this "shimmy" is. This is no shimmy ! this is like running over a series of telephone poles lined up in the road. It is almost impossible to hold on to the steering wheel let alone have control of the truck.this is an extremely dangerous situation that needs to be corrected asapor somebody is sure to die because of this flaw. I would be afraid to have my wife or children drive this truck and have this happen. Their lives would surely be in danger.please do something to correct this serious problem, or get this dangerous truck off the road.

I have a 2005 f-250 4wd crew cab w/5.4 liter v-8.in the last year there has been an increase in violent shaking from the front end after hitting potholes, patches, expansion joints, railroad tracks, etc. At highway speeds.slower speeds are just annoying but at higher speeds (60 and up) the shakes become convulsions and the truck literally bounces and shakes uncontrollably.it takes slamming on the brakes and getting below 40mph to make it stop.i took the truck into the dealer last week (09july07) to have it looked at.after being in there for a day and a half they said they could find nothing wrong with it.they said they looked through all the tsb's and found nothing wrong with the truck.after research on the internet and your website here, it sounds like everyone is being told the same thing so i thought i would add my voice to the mix.i am somewhat apprehensive about driving my truck but right now am not financially able to trade it in on something else.

Violent shudder and steering oscillation. This first happened after driving over a slight dropoff at about 60mph and the whole truck shuddered so violently i had to brake and attempt to steer the vehicle to the median (this was hard to do). This has happened frequently since and happens at low speeds also (40mph) the steering wheel has been shaken off center due to this. My wife will not drive the vehicle as its quite scary when this happens at relatively high speeds and is very sudden and unexpected, i also will not allow my children to ride in the vehicle as i feel a bad episode of this shimmy/shudder could easily cause an accident. I have also gone through 5 sets of tires (in under 70,000 miles) due to being unable to keep the front end aligned.i was quite upset after the first incident and immediately brought the truck to the nearest ford dealer to have it looked at. They said they had never heard of anything like this and looked at me like i was making this up. (and i admit it sounds crazy for a $40,000 truck to behave this way). They said there was nothing wrong and said i needed my first set of new tires and an alignment (at 12,000 miles). A few months later i came back into the same ford dealer with the same issue and was told there was not much that could be done as based on my previous visit my truck appeared fine. I was very dissatisfied with this level of customer service and walked out. I am now stuck with a truck that shudders violently several times a day, i am unable to sell the vehicle as nobody would ever buy it in this condition and feel as if i have been taken advantage of by the ford motor company, as it appears they have acknowledged this defect and have chosen to do nothing about it for their customers. This is my 5th and last ford truck.. I understand that nothing is perfect and things can go wrong but my complaints along with others have been ignored and i feel my truck is poses a real danger to anyone who rides in it.

Unpredictable and uncontrollable severe front end vibration and oscillation, causing loss of control of vehicle.occurs randomly and without warning, at freeway speeds.has resulted in running onto the shoulder of the roadway and several near collisions with other vehicles.vehicle has been inspected and repairs attempted on several occasions.dealership advises that this is inherent to year, make and model of vehicle; and cannot repair the problem.

Driving at highway speeds , the truck shakes violently after hitting a bump . The issue is commonly referred to as a death wobble . You slow down to about 45 mph or slower & it stops . You can then resume your trip .

This is a follow up to a complaint i filed on 4/14/09 complaint # 10265310. I have looked into this matter and found other cases. This is a serious problem that should be addressed. Here is a link with more information. Http://www.topix.com/forum/autos/ford-f-250-super-duty/tohp1m75vbfbft9il.

Front end wheel shimmy.

2005 f-250 has dangerous shake in front end of vehicle, to the point of loosing control of vehicle on highway.truck bounced over four lanes of highway before gaining control of it. Speed was about 55-60mph.it was early in the morning and there wasn't much traffic on the road.if it had been in the afternoon, there would have been a crash and possible fatalities.i took truck to dealer, tech stated they knew about the problem but didn't know how to fix it, and they weren't going to do a recall because it's not a very public problem, so they threw some shims on it and some other stuff.truck still has a considerable shake to the front end.we recently took the truck to a 'non' ford mechanic.three tie rods are bad and the stabilizer shocks are bad.he stated this is because the front end is shaking so bad it is wearing out the rods/shocks.the truck is only three years old and this should not be happening.the dealer stated they knew about the problem. Why is nothing being done to fix this issue?

This morning i was driving my 2005 f250 4x4 about 40 mph when it started a death wobble. I had to pull over and came to a complete stop. I looked at the tires to determine if i lost a balance weight. I then proceeded about a half mile and stopped at a local store. When i left the death wobble started again. I keep the truck below 40mph and headed to the store where i purchased my tires. It happened again as i was entering the freeway. I again had to stop and pull over. I keep the truck below 40mph and arrived at the tire store where they balanced the front tires. When i left i again entered the freeway and the "death wobble" started again. I keep the truck below 40mph and used surface streets to get to the ford dealership where i purchased my truck. I will have the results tomorrow after over $700 worth of repairs. If i was towing my fifth wheel i think there would have been a bad traffic accident.

I have a ford super duty truck that exhibits what has been named the death wobble as well as the 40-50 mph rear end bounce or shake.new tires, shocks, brakes, etc have not corrected this issue.i've read online where many others experience this same issue and many have been told by ford that they have to live with this.

My 2005 ford f-250 pickup truckhas a violent front end shake when it hits even a normal small bump in the road traveling at safe highway speed. The truck now has only 20,000 miles on it, but it has done this since it was brand new. It is dealer maintained and the tires have been rotated and filled to correct pressure aprox. Every 5,000 miles. Ford says it is due to improper tire pressure. However, they are the ones who filled the tires to the correct pressure. I have complained about this very dangerous situation before and have been given lame excuses by both the nhtsa and ford. Please let me say this again. This is not a shake in the front end. This is a very violent reaction when the truck hits a bump. The truck must almost be brought to a stop in order to stop the truck from shaking. When this happens on a highway it becomes very dangerous because the cars following must jam on their brakes in order to stop from rear ending the truck. The front end shakes so violently that it is hard to hold on to the steering wheel. Anyone driving alongside or behind the truck is in danger when this occurs.i know there has been other complaints of the same thing happening with the f-250. This is something that should not be ignored or taken lightly. Someone will eventually die or be seriously injured due to this defect. Please do something about this before it is to late. This is as dangerous as the sticking accelerator problem. I am a 58 year old man with a very safe driving record.

The contact owns a 2005 ford f-250 superduty.the contact stated when driving 60 mph and up over a road bump, the vehicle would begin to shake violently to the point where the contact was unable to maintain his grip of the steering wheel. The contact received a technical service bulletin in regards to the failure. The dealer advised that the failure was caused instead by inadequate tire pressure. The vehicle was not repaired and was taken to an independent mechanic for a second opinion. The mechanic was unable to diagnose the failure. The failure persisted.the failure mileage was 75,000.

2005 ford f-250 lurched forward at high speed when the brakes were applied.***no answer required***. *mrthe truck also stalled once while driving 10 mph.

Dt*:the contact stated while driving at various speeds and through intersections the electronic throttle module malfunctions.after releasing the accelerator pedal the vehicle continues at the same speed or looses speed rapidly and stalls.the vehicle was taken to the dealership on four occasions.the dealer replaced the throttle assemble twice, but the problem continued.the vehicle is being taken back to the dealer a fifth time.updated 4/6/2006 - when the vehicle was taken back to the dealer they installed a flight recorder in the truck which captured three failures.the dealer has the recorder and now the consumer is waiting for them to provide a solution to the stalling problem.

The contact owns a 2005 ford f-250 superduty. The contactstated when he shifted into cruise control at 70 mph, he thennoticed that the speed was increasing. He attempted todeactivate the cruise control but the vehicle would not slowdown. He also attempted to apply the brakes which had no effect on the speed. He then drove onto the emergency lane and pumped thebrakes until the vehicle slowed down. He also shifted into park, shut the vehicle off and called the dealership. The service manageradvised him to restart the vehicle which appeared to function normally; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle driven to anauthorized dealership but the dealer could not diagnose or duplicatethe failure; there were also no failure codes produced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact called the manufacturer who recorded the failure in their database. The current mileage was approximately 61,000. The failure mileage was approximately 31,000.

When speed control is engaged--sometimes when the decrease button is pushed the speed of vehicle increases.vehicle is 6.0 l diesel.the same events occurred with another '05 f 250 diesel.

Dt:the contact owns a 2005 ford f250 super duty diesel. While passing another vehicle the vehicle's accelerator became stuck and a loud noise was heard fromunder the hood.the vehicle then suddenly stoppedand then it stopped accelerating. While driving further, the consumer tried to speed up the vehicle to see if this would happen again and it did.it popped and thenvehicle stopped accelerating.this would happen at speeds around 40-55 mph.the dealership checked the codes, but could not find any codes for the problem.the mechanic took it home over night and nothing happened while he was driving it. Since they could not duplicate the problem they told the consumer to come and pick up the truck.the consumers foot was not on the accelerator pedal.the consumer held down the brake pedal to try to hold the vehicle in place, the loud noise was heard.*sc the consumer experienced unwanted acceleration.

Two problems.shifting lever would not move out of park even though brake was depressed.also, cruise control failed to deactivate when brake was depressed.dealer replaced new switches to correct problem.

Unintended acceleration, truck accelerates without driver's input for several seconds.very dangerous.was verified at the dealer.

While driving with cruise-control set at 70 mph on the highway the truck began to shutter as if a tire had blown ,and was not controllable until at very slow speeds.after a complete stop the problem was corrected.thisoccurred twice.

The windshield wipers on a ford f 250 superduty truck fail to shut off.safety issue, the driver's attention is taken away from driving to manipulating the windshield wiper controls in an effort to turn off the wipers or the driver will remove the fuse and then there are no wipers when needed.this problem is known to other ford f250 drivers so it is not an isolated case.

Dt: left front tire that was low. The consumer took the to the vehicletire shop.the tire service centernoted the aluminum wheel had to cracked on the inside of the wheel itself. The consumer called the dealership and they urged the consumer to bring the wheel fortheir ford representatives to check this out.they replaced this wheel at no charge.currently, the right front wheelcracked in the same area.contacted dealer, who said to bring in the wheel.consumer took vehicle to a dealer, they didnot replace wheel but they planned to replace it soon. The consumer has not contacted the ford manufacturer.no other problems on the vehicle at this time.

The contact owns a 2005 ford f-250 sd harley davidson edition motorcycle. The contact stated that the front driver side wheel was cracked on the outer rim. The contact stated that he had experienced the failure previously and the wheel would cause the tire to lose pressure.the contact had to remove the wheel and replace it with the spare tire. The contact called the manufacturer nut was provided with no assistance. The failure mileage was 48,000.
